Score Predictions and Game Strategy

00:00:39
Speaker
Now let's join the conversation in progress.
00:00:45
Speaker
Just like we predicted. Just as we predicted.
00:00:50
Speaker
Although I do feel somewhat vindicated because I did say like first to 30 did not end up panning out that way because I think almost was first to 30 if I remember correctly. Correct. It was first to 40.
00:01:02
Speaker
First to 40. It was first to 40. First to 40. Again, again, just as I predicted. Which I think i think i think you even like tweeted that update like during the game. like i think Or maybe it was after the game. You were like, just like I said, first to 40.
00:01:17
Speaker
Yeah, exactly.
00:01:20
Speaker
ah Man, i for a minute there, I thought we were going to throw a 50 burger up. Yeah, I know. I know. We were close. When's the last time that's happened? Yeah, know. Have you seen the the commentary from Kirby where he was like basically saying like he wanted to go for it? and like the way like His mentality is to go for it there at the end, but basically the way the defense was playing, he felt like he trusted the defense.
00:01:43
Speaker
Okay. I thought that was interesting. ah That is interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Which I think lines up with the like what we've seen him do in other games. So i would I mean, I thought he was going to go for it.
00:01:55
Speaker
I'm pretty sure I was yelling. mean, you can confirm. Maybe I'm pretty sure I was saying like, kick it. get we wanted I wanted him to kick it. So I was glad he did.

Key Plays and Player Analysis

00:02:04
Speaker
um At any rate, I don't exactly remember where they were on the field with that one on that one.
00:02:10
Speaker
um i mean field goal range um check how long let's see woodring had a 42 yard field goal so that would be and that's at the 25 we were in the 25 and it was like fourth and two i think I mean, yeah.
00:02:30
Speaker
You'd like us to get two yards there, but... Yeah. Well, I mean, all you got to do to get two yards is handoff to Josh McCray. That's all I'm saying. and Right. Dude, that was one of the best two-yard runs i've ever seen. the the one The one I still if i still don't... worry Yeah, the fourth down one. I still don't understand how how he squeaked out because like you look at that play...
00:02:54
Speaker
and in the replay and i haven't, I haven't gone back to look at the all 22 yet.

Atmosphere and Game Impact

00:02:58
Speaker
Cause if you go to the, if you go to the video that that I said, that we were shared um it shows the, it shows behind the goalpost. So you can see like behind, but then it shows you the all 22. So I'd really like to go back and take a look at that because um like it just defies physics. The re the replays that I saw. Yeah. Yeah. Well, mean, and Chris Fowler was like, no, yes.
00:03:25
Speaker
like but so i haven't actually, I haven't actually gone back to look at the whole replay. Oh, you have to, you have to watch that play. It's hilarious because Fowler is like, no, like he's like, he's been stuffed basically. And then he's like, but yes, he changes. And like Herb Street's dying laughing.
00:03:42
Speaker
it It was, it was, it was actually pretty funny.
00:03:47
Speaker
I mean, that sounds about right.

Offensive and Defensive Performance

00:03:50
Speaker
Yes. don't know if that was one of the plays. I can't remember. Cause there was at one point, like at one point I was so mad. i went out and was like watching part of the game from the, again, like the breezeway, like like things, things just pan, pan out in the breezeway. And then, and then something didn't pan out or like, i don't know. I got to a point where i was like, I'm going to go sit back down.
00:04:09
Speaker
but You were gone for a while. didn't, I didn't do exactly what happened. Yeah. Yeah. I just needed a breather. i think I think it was after we ran into the Coach and Shelby.
00:04:21
Speaker
Shout out, Coach. ah birthday Birthday Coach, by the way. That's right. um Yeah. um Yeah, I think after they left us, or and I think you went back to the seats, but after they left...
00:04:34
Speaker
um i kind of hung back because i was like you know i'm gonna hang out here for a little bit and see what happens i think it was like beginning catch fire here yeah it was like beginning of third quarter right like it was after halftime i think okay yeah because because sophia had come by so so it actually worked out great because sophia had stopped by to say hey so she sat with us for a little while while you were looking while you're hanging out in the breezeway That's right, because i did I ran into her on the way back in, on on the way to my seat.
00:05:02
Speaker
Yeah, that's good. That's amazing. I think, too, that was where I remember in GATA walked over and said, hey, and then you went and talked him or something. Yeah, dude dude. Shout out. Shout out 51-7 looking svelte.
00:05:16
Speaker
Yeah, man. Man, he's lost a lot of weight. That's crazy. I'm super jealous. I need to learn the ways. Yeah. I think what i think what he and i or what he said to me was like, we just need one stop. yeah we we only We need one stop on defense to win this game.
00:05:32
Speaker
And dang, we'd end up getting three ah by the end of it. So wild game. Absolutely wild game. Yeah, three when it mattered. Yeah. Yeah. Literally at the end. Have you seen, have you seen that off the rails? Have you seen the movie storks?
00:05:47
Speaker
Remember the room with storks today? I think I may have made this

Special Teams and Coaching Decisions

00:05:50
Speaker
joke on Sunday. I don't think so. I don't remember the joke. If so, uh, have you, have you seen that movie? It's like an animated movie.
00:05:58
Speaker
I feel like ah ah maybe, but hit me with it. So there's like, there's this, there's this like, so it's ah Andy Samberg is the stork. um Okay.
00:06:09
Speaker
And so there's this one and they have like a baby. oh yes. I've seen this one. Okay. And so there's a moment where like this other bird, like finds his way into the elevator and he has this whole conversation with him about the football game that before.
00:06:22
Speaker
And so he's like, catch the game last night. Too bad about that last quarter. And so my joke was that that's what Ole Miss fans were saying to each other the next day.
00:06:33
Speaker
That is an interesting reference, Joe. do that we yeah we

Quarterback Leadership

00:06:40
Speaker
in our neighborhood like a bunch of dads all took the kids to go see that movie when it was when like in the theater so we all still quote it like that was all of our favorite that we were all it was our all everyone's favorite part of the movie and so like to this day we still will always say that whenever there's a crazy game you'll like see somebody and never like catch the game last night and like do the whole thing um oh man off the rails uh
00:07:03
Speaker
While we're on the entertainments, I'm going to now make my joke that I forgot to make in the preview that I I was going to write down, John. Okay. I mean, obviously Georgia's going to beat Ole Miss when Ole Miss can't even beat South Georgia, led by quarterback Chad Bowers.
00:07:19
Speaker
yeah That shows that's just so great. It's so good. Are you current? Lily and I want an episode. is i think i've I think I've still got some catching up to do. so Okay. Cause there's an episode that came out.
00:07:30
Speaker
There's an episode that came out today. So I won't, I won't talk about it. Oh, okay. Yeah. It comes out. to heaven I haven't seen, haven't seen the latest one. I don't think, but um

Pregame and Fan Experience

00:07:40
Speaker
I think I'm like a quarter of the way in, but I did see the one where they were, I think, isn't this, isn't, isn't this the one that they go into Georgia?
00:07:49
Speaker
I mean, um no spoilers, but, you know, I mean, all I can say is that there is an episode that Kim and Lily and I and my parents, like we're all in. So, you know, well, I was there too.
00:08:02
Speaker
they they've they They have time. So anyways. Yeah. Yes. uh i'm pretty sure i'm pretty sure they're on the way to this game yeah they haven't they haven't released the episode where they if there's an episode where they play at georgia which i'm assuming there is based on the filming that happened that game yes that has not dared yet i'm assuming that's what we're heading towards got it okay crazy dude a crazy dude yes so off the rails
00:08:30
Speaker
I do. but I do like that. Oh, it's good. It's pretty funny. It's pretty funny. um I mean, the game was off the rails, so that's OK for the episode to be to be the same. The game. The game was a little drunk.
00:08:41
Speaker
um i I continued to be baffled at our first half defensive performance. um I mean, Ole Miss, I think they they went the middle eight.
00:08:55
Speaker
They went after the middle eight um because yeah that third and fourth quarter, or sorry, second and third quarter, they were that's where they put on all of their points on us.
00:09:06
Speaker
Yeah, it was is brutal. um Let's see. they so They got a touchdown in the middle eight. they got Yeah, they got two touchdowns in that and that middle eight. So they they won the middle eight 14-3, and we still won the game.
00:09:20
Speaker
that's That's pretty crazy. I mean, is is my like as much as they did the first three quarters, I mean, seriously, that is like the too bad about the last quarter for Ole Miss fans. I mean, 17 to nothing in the fourth quarter?
00:09:34
Speaker
um Absolutely crazy. I mean, they couldn't do anything in the fourth quarter. But and that's, so I i don't know man, that's, I'm in like such a weird space, like with this team, because like at the beginning of the game, it's like so frustrating. I mean, we

Social Aspects and Upcoming Game

00:09:50
Speaker
granted, we scored every time we had the ball, but it doesn't feel like that when, you know, when you kick a field goal and then they still just score and they've just, mean, they scored their first, they scored a touchdown their first five possessions. So like, you just don't have a good feeling about that.
00:10:05
Speaker
Um, watching it. Not at all. You know? And so it's like, what's going on? Like, are we just unprepared? Like, what, you know, like, I don't get it. um They're able to force us into a field goal, you know, twice. We can't ever even get them to kick a field goal. Like, what is going on? Well, it's not it's not even that. It's like,
00:10:26
Speaker
they were driving up and down the field on us. Like yeah every single one of their drives. And maybe this is like where we're at with this team is that we are really hard to score on.
00:10:39
Speaker
And granted, like no when you're playing teams like Ole Miss and Tennessee, like, you know, they're going to get their points basically. But yeah, we make it really really tough to score on so like you look at old miss like they're every single one of their drives their first drive 65 yards 14 plays 65 yards their second drive 10 plays 65 yards uh the next one 11 plays 75 yards um yeah and then they had the they had the big
00:11:11
Speaker
They had the big, um the big pass, the 75 yard pass that I wish even that was just like a missed tackle, you know? Yeah. you're You're like a missed tackle, but still 75 yards for that drive.
00:11:24
Speaker
um Then that's 12 plays, 75 yards and that's it. Like every single one of their drives was over 65 yards or or more. So like, what do you say to, what are you saying about that?
00:11:36
Speaker
I mean, i mean we're we're giving teams not great field position to start from is, I guess, where I would start. So, like, you got although here we weren't punting.
00:11:48
Speaker
So, we can't say that we were, like, punting and pinning him back, but Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. But, so I mean, here they're all those drives are coming off the kickoff. Yeah. I will say on that note, they did have two of them that were a little shorter because of kickoff going down the bounds.
00:12:02
Speaker
That was kind of weird, but... Yeah, but I don't know. ah you I say all that to say like those were those were all their scoring drives. um So it's it's definitely a weird ah weird place to be, but...
00:12:17
Speaker
um I mean, we drove down, the we drove on the flip side of that coin. and We had same same thing. Like we had we had long drives. It's just a really, this is, if you're an offensive if you're an offensive person, like this was, you know, this was one of the this was one of the games to go to because there was a lot of offense.
00:12:37
Speaker
Yeah. Didn't we have like over 500 yards of total offense or something like that? Uh, sounds right. I know we had like 200, like 200 something rushing. Yeah.
00:12:48
Speaker
When does that happen? until Yeah. I mean, that was insane. That was insane. i mean, that's, and that's one of those, like, and I mean, it did pan out, but that's one of those. If I told you before the game, we were going to have 200 yards rushing. How would you feel?
00:13:01
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. ah Again, but didn't like, we had over 200, 230 yard, over yards And not a single player on our team was going to be over 100 yards.
00:13:14
Speaker
Yeah. That is wild. That is wild. What is going on? Well, you got Gunnar getting some of it, right? so I mean, well, it was a little bit of everything. we had Cash Jones, Josh McCray, Dylan Bell, Gunnar Stockton, Chauncey, Nate.
00:13:32
Speaker
It was ah there' definitely a platoon. Yeah. and was definitely a platoon ah So you look at the total yards. We had 510. They had 351. How about this? i mean, it felt like they had more than 351. It felt like they had a lot more than 350. Yeah, I agree. I would absolutely agree with that. They had a lot more than...
00:13:51
Speaker
I was definitely a little surprised at that at their yardage there. But, yeah, we had over 500 yards of ah offense ah at 43 points. um Yeah. the i the boat This is not a game, if you're a Bobo hater, to open your mouth.
00:14:10
Speaker
Mm-mm. Because you couldn't have asked for a better, like the some of the you know, the play designs and like getting Lawson Lucky wide open on on some of those passes. Like, welcome to the welcome to the stat line, Lawson Lucky. where Where have you been all season long? Yeah.
00:14:28
Speaker
Yeah. Maybe that was the rope of dope. We, we, we rope a dope them on loss and lucky. Ah, they never thought to him. The loss and lucky long con. There was half a season.
00:14:40
Speaker
Exactly. Exactly. Every, every, the design of every pass play touchdown was incredible. Like all of them. Like all of them had some sort of like motion or multiple receivers in the same area, like confusing the the defenders.
00:14:58
Speaker
the The first touchdown to lucky actually reminded me a lot of um one of the touchdowns Stetson to through to McConkie in the championship game against TCU.
00:15:10
Speaker
Like just everybody got run off. Like it was like a faked, fake disc faked, faked a wide receiver screen to Zachary Branch. Yeah. And then you had like, hum I think Humphreys and Lucky were like in the same area. And then Humphreys like ran a post and then Lucky went out and he i just no one, no one covered him.
00:15:28
Speaker
It was, it was perfectly designed. um The other one, like with like the tight end drag route across back as the end end zone, he was the only guy that even went out for a route. um The one when he scored over by the bridge, that was amazing.
00:15:40
Speaker
And then also the one that Nate Frazier was incredible. Like, everyone's getting confused by the motion, like the jet sweep motion, everything. It was, they're all beautiful. I would definitely like recommend go and find some, like somebody coach Hayes or somebody, you know, and like watch watch their breakdowns of the place because, um, the design was, it was beautiful.
00:15:59
Speaker
So yeah, I'm, I'm with you. Not a, not a good day for the bubble haters. Yeah, Dylan Bell had a nice had a nice pass completion down the sideline that basically iced the game. still waiting for the pass interference flag on that play, by the way. No, seriously. but There's a couple of those.
00:16:15
Speaker
um I mean, shoot, the the touchdown pass that Lawson Lucky caught, I mean, the guy was like tackling him. Oh, the um yeah, the the last one. bill Yeah, his last his third touchdown pass, which that's crazy, like they're three touchdown passes.
00:16:29
Speaker
I mean, Gunnar Stockton, heck of a he of a performance, um which, man, what a weekend to have a a performance like that when you're when your predecessor lays an egg the night before.
00:16:45
Speaker
yeah yeah. I don't i don't think I think the narratives have shifted a little bit. We'll just yeah they yeah but just say that. um i don't I don't know what the TV people are going to talk about during Miami games anymore.
00:16:59
Speaker
i think that I think that this team is getting more and more comfortable with Gunnar Stockton as its quarterback. um And it's very clear that people are starting to pay attention to him as a as a legit threat, do a legit dual threat quarterback.
00:17:15
Speaker
um Because his stat numbers are great. And then you throw out the rushing stats and it's like even greater. um He's consistently outperformed better rated or preseason better rated quarterbacks um all season long. I think isn't he like number two in passer rating right now?
00:17:38
Speaker
I think so. I forget which that hour yeah power, power for something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, SEC offensive player of the week um this week. And, you know, we find out after the game, like he was hurt.
00:17:51
Speaker
the Yes, i did get some I did get some of that from someone at the tailgate. Got some inside sources on that one. um his he's very He's very banged up, which a lot of guys are at this point. But, man, if he's banged up, like maybe like na that's a good thing because he balled out.
00:18:12
Speaker
Yeah. I was going to say, like good time for a bye week. Heal it little bit. Yeah, go get in those ah go getting those hot tubs, young men.
00:18:23
Speaker
get some Get some PT. Yeah, I feel like i feel like we have to talk about, too, though, the fact that like we like the off offensive line is getting healthier.
00:18:34
Speaker
um We had both Green and Gaston back this game. um So I don't know, John, I guess, like what's what's your current relationship with Stacey Searles and the offensive line after this game?
00:18:46
Speaker
Yeah, we were texting. I'm texting. We're not talking. We're not talking quite yet, but we're we're opening up the lines of communication because I agree. That was that was some good now was some good stuff. Davin Bellamy um was doing some of those breakdowns of ah the boys just road grading out there. I think he was talking about like um take one with you is was his is his life thing. like If you're going, take one with you.
00:19:17
Speaker
And he was showing some some some roadlading road grading clearances by ah Juan Gaston and and some of those guys. So, um yeah, it's it's great to see. I think Freeling went down, but I haven't seen any updates on on where that stands.
00:19:34
Speaker
um I haven't but either. thought he came back. know. I could be wrong. and Yeah. Yeah. um I'm sure we' and we'll get to that for for game week.
00:19:46
Speaker
i say hang but We're on a bye week, so yeah we're taking the week off. that's ridiculous Sort of. Yeah. and Didn't pay quite as much as attention to Kirby's press conference. Exactly. ah The all access i saw come out, I haven't watched that yet.
00:20:00
Speaker
um Yeah, dude. ah I think that they're figuring out, you know, I think the offensive line is starting to get there. It definitely makes me a little happy because the The defensive front was was pretty good. Ole Miss has some pretty good players on their defensive line.
00:20:17
Speaker
um So, yeah, I think that this is it was a great win. it was against a good team and a formidable foe on the on the offensive side.
00:20:29
Speaker
I think that we, again, the the biggest thing that is going to be our Achilles heel is just allowing teams to get out to such large leads early on and can't rely on shutting someone out. in the I mean, you can see that in in the stats, like we didn't shut them out in the second half.
00:20:50
Speaker
We shut them out in the fourth quarter. um You start scoring some of those points in the fourth quarter and that that makes things a lot more uncomfortable, doesn't it? um yeah I would prefer to get some of those stops earlier in the game for sure.
00:21:03
Speaker
um But shutting up a high-powered offense three times in a row when the game was on the line, that tells me it's just ah another gritty performance from everyone. We've seen come-from-behind components of of the offense.
00:21:20
Speaker
And i guess to a certain extent, we're talking about some come-from-behind components for the for the defense as well. um just depending on how you look at it right so i think that um This team is definitely not the blow the doors off everyone teams that we have kind of grown accustomed to.
00:21:44
Speaker
and I think that's okay in the current 2025 state of college football, but because there's nobody, frankly, there's nobody. And I'll even go so far as to say that not even Ohio state is um elite because Ohio state hasn't played anybody.
00:22:01
Speaker
Yeah. yeah some of Some of these teams that we're hearing about ah getting the getting a hype for you know Heisman candidates and things like that, they haven't played anybody.
00:22:11
Speaker
i mean Alabama, they've they've played some folks. um Not really sure what the heck happened in the first game. i continue to ask questions about how the heck we lost to those guys, but um it just is what it is. There's just no elite teams out there.
00:22:27
Speaker
um There are teams that are growing into their CFP, earning their CFP. And I think Georgia is one of those teams. And if we can put a full game together, i think that that's where people are going to start to stand up and take notice.
00:22:43
Speaker
yeah Hopefully we can get that going on. Hopefully we can get that going against the against the next guys because I hate Florida. Yeah, i I mean, I think the saving grace in this game was that the offense did put together a complete game.
00:22:59
Speaker
um So I think we finally did see one from them. I mean, never punted. um That first drive, like, i mean, it stalled on. Honestly, that drive was killed on the offensive pass interference.
00:23:10
Speaker
and which was like after Colby Young got hurt, um which hated to see. And I keep rewatching it. And it's like, I can't see. You don't even understand how you don't even understand how it happened. Right. And like, he got up like celebrating, like he did like a dice throw or like dice roll or something like that, like celebrating. And then he goes to the tent and then is out. So hate, hate that, um you know, speedy recovery. He's been so huge for this team.
00:23:33
Speaker
I know he'll still continue to be like just leadership wise around the team and everything, but yeah, You know, he he he's out, and so we've got Noah Thomas in for him. he gets called for a push-off, which it definitely was, which in the stadium, I got upset, and then Lily looked at me was like, Dad, he totally pushed off. i was like, okay, okay. I saw the replay. I was It was far away from us.
00:23:54
Speaker
But, yeah, I mean, you know, offense came to play the whole game, and shoot, man, Gunner, 12 of 12 in the second half. I mean, that's just crazy. um Absolutely. The chef's kiss. Yeah.
00:24:05
Speaker
Yeah. So talk about Stetson Bennett type plays. Right. Mr. fourth Mr. Fourth quarter. Yeah. I mean, and he did it all. He did it all. I know early in the game, I think we were, we were like, know, pull it on the zone, read, pull on the zone, read. And then like when he did and he scored like, yeah ah, it's like, it's so excited.
00:24:21
Speaker
Uh, that was a run too, man. That was There were so many, there were so many opportunities for him to pull it. It's like watching, it's like going back in time and watching Jake from. Yeah.
00:24:33
Speaker
Lily's two faves. Lily's two faves. um Yeah. ah Okay. So let's talk about the fourth quarter because like, I feel like like multiple things were happening there. So a couple of things, I guess I kind of want to focus on primarily on the defensive side of the ball. Like,
00:24:51
Speaker
Chambliss had looked so good in the game up to that point. And then like, and like he was unstoppable. Our defense couldn't stop anything. And then all of a sudden three and out three and out, you know, like back to back three and outs. Both of them, we had huge, like, you have big pass breakups on third down. Dillon never had a big pass breakup on the first three and out.
00:25:10
Speaker
DeMillo Jones had a big pass breakup on the second one. I mean, I feel like it's like our defense, I think eventually got to him, but I also kind of feel like the environment got to eventually like that.
00:25:23
Speaker
The stadium kind of like built up to a crescendo. Whereas like the Alabama game, it was like unhinged. mean, it's eight o'clock game, right? Like it was unhinged right at the, right at the kickoff Ole Miss,
00:25:35
Speaker
it got there by the end, like maybe the end of the game, the crowd I think was as loud as it was against the, ah against Alabama. Um, especially like on that last, you know, fourth down play. Um, I think, I think it got him hidden. So I don't know. I feel like it was a bit of a combination and I think our defense fed off that too.
00:25:50
Speaker
Yeah. I think, uh, was it Pat McAfee? Um, someone, someone, um, talked about how it was the loudest that they had ever, they'd ever seen it. yeah. really Um,
00:26:02
Speaker
yeah um So here's so here's where I'll yes, everything everything you said is is accurate. um I wholeheartedly agree that the energy in the stadium as we kind of choked the life out of out of this game um this was was perfect.
00:26:25
Speaker
um I mean, they had so they had one they had three possessions in the fourth quarter. The three and out took 19 seconds to accomplish.
00:26:37
Speaker
The next play was ah three and three and out, and that took 56 seconds. And then they turned the ball they turned the ball over on downs. But at that point, we had already gone up by eight points or whatever. Yeah, we were paid. the game was effectively over. Yeah.
00:26:57
Speaker
So they had they they took 32 seconds. So like they barely touched the ball in the fourth quarter like at all. Yeah. like that's
00:27:07
Speaker
You're going back and you like I rattled off all those different you know scoring drives that they had in the first three quarters. And in the fourth quarter, things changed completely. yeah A couple of things that did change.
00:27:19
Speaker
um We went cover zero on on a lot of stuff. So basically we just sent the kitchen sink at them. um You had a couple of guys who's the like the guy that blocked that like got his hand up to block the the final pass.
00:27:35
Speaker
I don't even know that I had ever really heard his name before. I know. I'm the same way. a yeah After the game, i was feeling like, man, I need to do a better job like knowing our roster.
00:27:47
Speaker
I was dying loud. But like ah Josh Orton. And he's like a redshirt. He's a redshirt sophomore. He's a transfer from Miami, though. So I guess that's maybe that's what's going on.
00:27:59
Speaker
need to figure out how many years he's been here. Because i honestly, don't know. yeah Well, I'll put glasses on it. Yeah. I mean, ah yeah we just had, we just had opportunities for guys to go out and make plays. And like, maybe that's a, maybe that's a sign. I mean, i mean, just we have, even if we haven't been able to get to the quarterback, like getting your hands up and and those positions pays off.
00:28:23
Speaker
And I'm glad that I'm glad that it happened for, for a young guy um or at least a guy that's unsung. Cause that's kind of embodies everything about this team. like This team is not like ah you know Jordan Davis is the is the anchor of the defense. N'Kobe Dean is the the big the big guy and from the linebacking core.
00:28:47
Speaker
You got George Pickens out there at wide receiver. got we've got some names, but like No one is just like completely dominating the stat lines and completely taking over games. It's a true team effort. like Everybody on this team, top to bottom, is is playing is playing well together.
00:29:06
Speaker
That's kind of what I'm getting think that... think that um the only things The only thing that just scratches my head is like, why don't we try some of this stuff earlier in the game?
00:29:18
Speaker
And maybe we did, and I'm not the exes and those guys to like to like talk about that, but it just felt, it feels as though we hadn't changed anything for three quarters, basically.
00:29:29
Speaker
Yeah. um ah Quick before i respond to that, ah Horton transferred from Miami this summer. So that makes me feel a little better about my lack of knowledge about So we traded transfers. Is that what it is Yeah, yeah. and and And a player to be named later. Yeah, yeah. Got him in the Carson Beck trade.
00:29:49
Speaker
Yeah.
00:29:53
Speaker
But you know i I'm with you, and and I guess that's my that's kind of my thing back to like we were talking we were talking about this yeah after the Auburn game. it's like It's like what I feel, and then when I look at things after the game. Although this one still, I mean, five touchdown drives in a row, that is a lot.
00:30:11
Speaker
um So thats that's not like the... you look at you look at the end of the game against Auburn and they only had 10 and That's 100% one of those things. If you had told me before the game that they were going to get five touchdowns in a row, I would be like, uh... yeah how much did how much do we lose by?
00:30:29
Speaker
right Like, holy cow. Other than that, Miss Lincoln, how was the play? You're right. Yeah, yeah. This game was, it was wild. It was unhinged.
00:30:41
Speaker
um don't know, man. But there were so many there are so many moments. um we du Okay, so another favorite moment. The I don't even know what you call it.
00:30:53
Speaker
the the The cut, the stop and go that um the Zach Branch he had on the sideline where he just stopped. it's it's it's totally It's totally an NCAA college football move. like yeah the The stop on the dime and let him run past you and then just walk into the end zone kind of thing.
00:31:12
Speaker
Yeah, it's unbelievable. there's There's a great, uh, there's a great like sequence of photos. I think Brooks Austin took, um, of the sideline. Um, when he did that, the look on all the coaches faces on the sideline is like, they're all like pointing and just like jaws dropping.
00:31:28
Speaker
Uh, you can see like Bryant Gant is like freaking out. It's, it's awesome. and's He's always in there. He's always in there. He always finds a way on, on camera. why That joker in the picture frame. So good.
00:31:44
Speaker
But dude, and then we got we basically pretty much got a death march. I mean like that, the drive, the drive to kick the field goal. I mean that chewed up a lot of clock. um My only gripe, we've had other gripes, but like,
00:31:57
Speaker
That field goal could have really put the game away and to go up nine if we had just kicked the extra point. i i'm just I'm not an analytic i'm not an analytic analytics guy. I'm very much like kick the extra point unless it's like right at the end of the game and you need need to tie it, then go for two.
00:32:12
Speaker
um But I guess the flip side of that coin is, man, Cash Jones was wide open. on that two point play. If you go watch it, Holy cow. Um, you mentioned Davin Bellman earlier.
00:32:23
Speaker
i will say though, he, he actually made a good point about it. He's like, look, you know, yes. Gunner missed cash Jones on the two point conversion. However, the great thing about it is that you can see like the in-game coaching happening and seeing him learn from that mistake, even in that game, because the touchdown pass to Nate Frazier was a similar scenario where he's wide open in the flat. And this time he looked there and, you know, made that throw and nature, Rachel scores a touchdown.
00:32:48
Speaker
Um, um So I thought that was that was a great point. I think it's a ah good way to ah good way to think about it. Amen. Amen. Yeah. no I mean, there we could we could talk about a lot of other things about that game that, I mean...
00:33:05
Speaker
there were points that were left on the field um yeah by the offense. Like we continue to somehow miss Oscar Delk deep. I promise we're going to hit that boring one of these times on on a deep route and it's going to be, it's going to be magical.
00:33:21
Speaker
um Cause I think, I think if he catches that pass, he's gone. That was like, I think the second play game. I think. Yeah. Yeah. How about Bobo went back into his bag of tricks with the the flea flicker as well. likecker Yeah, that was nice.
00:33:39
Speaker
That was nice. That was nice. I mean, I feel like at any moment we're going to see a we're going to see gunner line up under center and run a true play action pass and hold that ball on his hip.
00:33:52
Speaker
And then turn around and just nail, what was it? Was it Terrence Edwards? I can't remember who it was. That was the first one that I remember. Yeah. Yeah. The old Ruski play. The old Ruski play.
00:34:05
Speaker
Yeah. At some point, he's going to bust that out at some point, I feel like. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I guess this, the special teams nugget, uh, I don't know if you saw, um, I did see this from the press conferences, uh, on Monday, Monroe Freeling said that, uh, the way he's telling it is that he told, he, he told, uh, Thorson, like, we don't need you today or something like that.
00:34:31
Speaker
Oh, man. Which is good. I saw ah saw Thorson unfollow Gunnar Stockton on on social media as well. He just blocked him and unfollowed him. He said, now I know your true colors.
00:34:45
Speaker
So good. um I was going to something that was was really cool. um you know that like that last The last drive took up a ton of clock and we make the field goal to go up eight points.
00:34:56
Speaker
Wasn't the best snap. um and like Gunner did a great job but yeah catching the snap and holding it and getting it ready for Woodring. It's pretty cool if you go watch the TV the tv copy. like Woodring goes straight over to Gunner thanking him for getting the ball like placed in time for him to kick the field goal.
00:35:13
Speaker
thought that was pretty cool. And then, dude, also on top of that, like Gunner, don't know, man. I love it's funny hearing the players talk about, like, how different he is, like, in the huddle, like field general type guy. And then, like, you hear him the interviews, and he's, like, so soft-spoken and everything.
00:35:28
Speaker
So soft-spoken. In the postgame, the sideline reporter was like, it was a great job, you know, getting the bad snap down for that field goal. He's like, oh, the snap wasn't that bad. It's like
00:35:41
Speaker
It's so good. It's so good. i love it. Staying positive. That's right. That's right. I don't know, man. I could ramble on about about it forever, but it was a fun one.
00:35:53
Speaker
It was a fun one. It's fun to root for a guy like Gunnar Stockton. 100%. Yeah. yeah The vibe, the vibes have been elevated and of the quarterback room is all I'm going to say.
00:36:07
Speaker
I'm with you. I'm with you.
00:36:10
Speaker
Uh, let's see, but while it's on the top of my head, let's, uh, look at coaches over unders. Um, another funny thing was, um, coach texted us, I think during like tailgating, um, to give us an early over unders because he counted the, uh, the miscellaneous with the,
00:36:30
Speaker
How many people pick Georgia? and i think what What did you say? Your new anxiety unlocked? like real Real-time stats on the over-enders?
00:36:41
Speaker
Yes. That was good. Good times. like These are the things we talk about on game day, people. but the recording never the The talking never stops. It just gets recorded every so often.
00:36:55
Speaker
no oh Yes. Correct. um Let's see. Okay. So we're now, dude, we're like dead even again on the over-unders. um So I i went 500. I bested you by one.
00:37:12
Speaker
yeah, back in a dead heat on the over-unders for the season. um But let's revel in the fact that we both, I mean, we picked all the same games, but because we knew we were right, we both went 5-0 in coaches pick-ems. So like that's something, something to be celebrated. Yeah. Yeah. It makes me want to maybe like go do some gambling, but not really.
00:37:31
Speaker
Well, I will say reminder, we're picking them straight up and I'm picking them straight up. Exactly. But that's not easy either, especially in college. Um, um, okay. Well, shout out coach. Uh, great to see you as always. And Shelby, um, on Saturday. And, uh, I know we already told you, but we'll say again, happy, happy birthday.
00:37:49
Speaker
Yeah. It was coach's birthday this week. Yes. um I did want to say, like, dude, shout out to row 60 for like putting out the Stripe Sanford thing. And it actually happened. We didn't even talk about it on the podcast because I didn't think it was going happen. And then um and school wasn't official at that point. It wasn't yet. it was not yet official. so we didn't talk about it.
00:38:10
Speaker
um I think it was like the next day the school had to had to tweet up. You know, we were in the in we're in the end zone. So we all were our Georgia white.
00:38:21
Speaker
um Whites only.
00:38:25
Speaker
It was, it was, it was hard to talk about and like, not sounds horrible. Horrible.
00:38:33
Speaker
Uh, definitely, definitely some fun, some fun was had with, yeah. Right. Don't talk about what section you're in. Cause it does not. section. and Wait, what?
00:38:44
Speaker
But i don't know. I mean, it was fun. I think my my only like hindsight thing is like, oh man, like you had the people wearing black. They were like in the sun the whole time. So I don't know.
00:38:55
Speaker
Probably would be better for a night game, I guess, if we were to do that again. and Yeah, not so mention not to mention that, but like then you also had the red pom-poms at the black section. Well, the everybody the entire stadium had red pom-poms.
00:39:08
Speaker
Right. So maybe let's color coordinate that and it would help the overall aesthetic of what we're trying to go for. Right. On top of that, the student giveaway was white t-shirts.
00:39:20
Speaker
Right, right. i i i did see so I did see that. I mean, the yeah. I mean, that's hard because like yeah that I'm sure that thing was that was scheduled yeah weeks, if not a month ahead.
00:39:32
Speaker
so Yeah. And it was probably like someone like was in charge of it that wasn't really in charge of anything associated with the stripe out. And like, I don't know. Even if they were, I'm sure there's layers and levels and like they can't really get out of it. Right. I'm sure it's like, we're going to be guys. We can't change it.
00:39:49
Speaker
it Like, sorry. It is what it is. um Yeah, I did. I did see some funny things from like students like, well, I didn't care because i got a free T-shirt.
00:39:59
Speaker
Which totally would have been my stance as a student as well. So 100%. I thought that was pretty cool. I thought it was cool. Like that a fan led thing happened. So, yeah, again, shout out row 60. That's that's pretty cool.
00:40:12
Speaker
That's pretty cool. Yeah. Dear administration, we did what you wanted, now do what we want. Black jerseys at night. Yeah.
00:40:22
Speaker
Yeah. Um, I guess, uh, you we, um, just a couple other things. Uh, it was fun, fun to spend the weekend. We got to spend the weekend, uh, at my parents' house. Uh, good times were had.
00:40:39
Speaker
the TEC was enjoyed from Carol's country cupboard pregame. Lily got to have Lily got to have some. Lily got to have it. Dude, that thing is so filling. like I like didn't need to eat again. like I ate lunch, but it wasn't really hungry.
00:40:55
Speaker
Yeah. he wasn't I was like, I know that I need to eat something kind of thing. Yeah. um yeah Although, I totally i totally forgot. i um When you and i were messaging about that, I told you that I didn't eat until after we got home. That's not true.
00:41:10
Speaker
At halftime, I had a double Chick-fil-A sandwich. Yeah. yeah I ordered two Chick-fil-A sandwiches and put the meats together and made a double Chick-fil-A sandwich. I dont i think I forgot to send that to you guys.
00:41:22
Speaker
i was like, this is so good. oh That's great. That's great. I had barbecue at the tailgate. And so I don't, I didn't buy it. where' did where' Where'd you get the barbecue?
00:41:34
Speaker
At Morsel. Oh, wait, they had barbecue. I thought it was fried chicken. There's both. Oh, I missed barbecue. Okay. Yeah. It was pulled pork. Um, and then I just ate your popcorn that you bought.
00:41:47
Speaker
And Lily ate some too. ah we were all yeah Like Kim and Lily and I were like, Ooh, popcorn. It's so good.
00:41:58
Speaker
So yeah, that was fun. That was a fun time. It was a fun weekend. Yeah. you Shout out to everyone. We had a blast at all the tailgates. Uh, I think we had three tailgates on Saturday.
00:42:09
Speaker
Got a nice like fraternity fraternity mini reunion picture. was fun. That was fun. Totally unexpected, too. like I did not have seen Walter on the on the on the radar.
00:42:21
Speaker
Yeah, that was fun. That was fun. Yeah, i didn't I didn't know they were coming until Patrick texted me like when we got on campus. so On brand. Yeah, give us a heads up, guys.
00:42:32
Speaker
Yeah.
00:42:36
Speaker
as all let's talk about like Let's talk about more on the game day experience, which they experienced as well. was um Man, there there there was a lot of people there. There was a lot more Ole Miss fans out and about tailgating that than I was expecting. I was up there on Friday night. um Shout out Matt and Paige.
00:42:55
Speaker
Thanks for the hospitality. Yeah. the the The fan sentiment out there was was kind of interesting as well. like Just listening to everyone talking about um you know what they were doing and how they felt about the games, the Ole Miss people were not very they were not confident in their team at all whatsoever. like i didn't I don't think I encountered a single Ole Miss fan that was positive about their chances in the game, which I thought was interesting, but there's a lot of them out and about.
00:43:26
Speaker
yeah um So the Friday Night Vibe on the night before Creature Comforts um and at South um and then there's, I can't even remember what it was called, there's someplace next to Paloma that has a big outdoor ah screen that I watched the game at, and then there's a ton of Ole Miss people at Hybar which was which is kind of crazy too, but um Yeah, man, they they were out and about. The the old Miss people traveled for this one for sure.
00:43:57
Speaker
but the vibes the vibes in the city and the game day vibes were were great like i mean everything that you i mean we even had a chandelier we had a chandelier at the at the tailgate at morris hall which i thought was which i thought was a nice touch uh because that's what they always talk about we got chandeliers at our tailgate um the the attire the women's attire was was also kind of funny to see like all the dresses and hats and all that stuff so it was definitely a good tailgate experience I will say that was a a hilarious thing in our house with the sitting in the, in the section that was to wear white Georgia clothing.
00:44:35
Speaker
um Lily and Kim were like, I don't have anything. like i don't have any Georgia gear. That's quite, um we were able to figure it out. It was pretty funny. Yes. my My mom, my mom threw it like wore a white shirt and threw a Georgia button on it.
00:44:48
Speaker
So, Hey, accessories. Exactly. make it work so Throw the accessories out there.
00:44:56
Speaker
it was It was fun. We had a great weekend. Shout out to Ponda's famous bed and breakfast. And Lou and Ponda, thank you for the hospitality as well. It was great to have you. was great to have you.
00:45:07
Speaker
um And I think the other times you've stayed there, it's been just me or maybe just me and Lily. um So get to hang out with our dogs and they didn't totally freak out on you, which was good.
00:45:20
Speaker
Yeah. oh Oh, dude, that reminds me. The story that you told about the, was it Munson growling? Recognizing that there was someone in the house. Oh, it was Murray. it was Murray. yeah wait okay you You had gone for your pregame run.
00:45:33
Speaker
And then when we came upstairs, we were in the basement. When upstairs, Murray could like smell you. And so Murray was sniffing everywhere. I was like, oh my gosh, chill out.
00:45:44
Speaker
So I was kind of worried like when you got back, he was going to like flip out on you. So thankfully he didn't. No, he didn't. ah i i so i slipped them I slipped them all snacks.
00:45:55
Speaker
So... they were They were constantly looking for more food.
00:46:02
Speaker
They found a sucker. They found a sucker. Speaking of speaking of ah the the pregame run, we ah we did the separate, sort of separate run. um Lou got his wood portion of the pregame run done, pregame, looking at looking for spots and stuff.
00:46:23
Speaker
to ah true ah So So maybe that's the trick, is that we need to get Lou to run your pregame run. You might add to run up and down the the deck in a certain spot, see if there's a parking spot there.
00:46:35
Speaker
There you go. There you Too good. Too good. Hey, look, that's like I said, uh, the pregame run, it doesn't matter. They don't, the key, the, that way we know the key is just that we need to not do a pregame run, uh, a co pregame run.
00:46:49
Speaker
So as long as we don't do that, everything's fine. Yes. I did. I did get mine in, uh, cause I knew that there was going to be some TEC and I needed to burn some calories. Well, that was the, the, yeah, the hindsight was that I just had the calories.
00:47:04
Speaker
Yeah.
00:47:07
Speaker
It wasn't great. It wasn't great. it went It went down great. It tasted great, but yeah. Amazing. Good stuff. i tried to get I tried to replicate the TEC here in town locally for those of you that are familiar with Martin's.
00:47:20
Speaker
um Suboptimal. not is no No Carol's Country Cupboard? It ain't Carol's. du They don't have Zeke in the back yeah i'm making that stuff for us. They don't. they don't they' They're not building it. and They're not making it out of a 100-year-old building. Come on.
00:47:36
Speaker
Delore. door Dude, just wait until we do My Gotta Podcast live from Carol's Country Cover. Coming to you live. Dude, it was packed.
00:47:48
Speaker
and who didn't we we also We also found ah we're we're also getting better in our pregame, in our game day ah ah better never rest situation.
00:47:58
Speaker
Call ahead. Yeah. Yeah, is there a we learned our lesson in this time. Yes. Holy cow. Ugh. Uh, all right.
00:48:09
Speaker
Um, well, yeah, onto the bi-week, um, week off. I, I think we had bounced around the idea of maybe doing another episode this week, but I think we're gonna, think we're gonna lay low.
00:48:23
Speaker
Um, and then we'll be back to, uh, to review a game against, ah the Gators in their new interim head coach. Um, That'll be interesting to, I mean, everything, everything just goes out the window. So yeah anyway, yeah.
00:48:41
Speaker
We've got, we've got Florida on deck and we're going to, we're going to FTMF all the way, all the way to Jacksonville. Perfect. Love it. Cool. Well, ah rest up, Jim.
00:48:54
Speaker
um Make sure you go get get some PT. and Hop in that that like cold plunge and and hot tub to soothe your sore muscles from the run that you didn't do this past weekend.
00:49:06
Speaker
And go Dawgs. Go Dawgs. go dogs
