I'll come clean. Like I, you know with the timing of when we left, I did not do a pregame run and Georgia played pretty well. So I think i'm cool with that. I think the key was, is that I did my run separate.

Now, let's join the conversation in progress.

In-depth Game Analysis

00:00:53
Speaker
Well, that was about what we expected. i say I feel like we can actually say just as we predicted.
00:01:02
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, that was that was what we were looking for. We were looking for the get-right game. we were looking for the opportunity to actually like take an SEC opponent by the scruff of the neck and and boss them around.
00:01:15
Speaker
I'd say pretty much... Everybody answered that call. um yeah you got You had the offensive line doing its thing. You had the defensive.
00:01:27
Speaker
I'd say the defensive line was probably still um left wanting, but at least we had some s sacks on the day. i think we were just looking at that in the podcast, the podcast right, John?
00:01:38
Speaker
Correct. Can't confirm. um We got some turnovers, but there's still things to fix. We still didn't get a whole lot of pressure. I felt like that um Kentucky's quarterback was was pretty comfortable.
00:01:52
Speaker
um And then we also gave up yeah also gave out the ball. yeah And you can't do that on these games coming up. Yeah, going to say, I feel like there's still something I had jotted down was like, I'm concerned about the defense.
00:02:07
Speaker
um I don't think this like squashed my concerns. I feel like it was more like lesser opponent, but, and even, you know, holding them to 14 points, I still feel like they were able to do some things that I would rather not they have been able to do.
00:02:24
Speaker
Or maybe it was like the way things went about, you know, just still too many times he had all day to throw. Right. He was just sitting back there. i was like, good grief. like He's going to have all day to throw it.
00:02:36
Speaker
Yeah. think that I think that there were some plays that they had that um were probably there. um the quarterback was not able to lie their Their quarterback was not able to pulled the trigger so Yeah. Now that think about it, there was definitely one play.
00:02:53
Speaker
I don't remember which receiver was, but they had receiver like just streaking down the sideline. And I think it was like maybe slightly under thrown and he kind of had to adjust and then dropped it. Like there was a couple of things that were available that they couldn't capitalize on for sure.
00:03:05
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.

Personal Game Day Experiences

00:03:08
Speaker
I don't know. it was it was an interesting It was an interesting day. I didn't get i did get the pre-run in Pre-run for me, because i started the game late, but the pre-run was going on during the game. I guess. It was pre-tape-delayed game run.
00:03:29
Speaker
Correct. Correct. So i was I was in the golf cart, as I mentioned, with Carter, who had a phenomenal round, by the way. Nice. They had a three-person scramble, and I think that they were even par, but...
00:03:45
Speaker
they had some They had some great shots. Carter had some some good shots throughout the ah throughout the the round. um But I was fast-forwarding on the commercials and and in the downtime. So like I actually ended up catching up to the live broadcast because i felt like there were so many commercials. Every 10 seconds, I was just like, oh, my gosh, there's so many commercials. And I was just fast-forwarding.
00:04:11
Speaker
I, okay. So I now understand. Cause I remember like during the game, ah remember the point where, or I just remember that there was a point when you texted and you're like, I just caught up. And I was like, I don't know exactly what that means, but I'll find out.
00:04:26
Speaker
Yes. I was around the, I think i was on the eighth. I was on the eighth tee box. Yeah. um And I had finally caught up.
00:04:38
Speaker
Okay. Okay. I was at least we made it to the game ah with our crazy travel decisions. I know. I had checked in on you. Like, did you guys make it? Yeah.
00:04:49
Speaker
Yeah, I actually tried to kind of do like a ah last week when you convinced me to get to my parents' house on Friday night. Now we had a much shorter drive, but I was like, what if we go Friday night? Like when Lily when Lily gets home from her high school's homecoming football game, you know, ah we just get there at like one thirty or something, you know, and like go to bed.
00:05:10
Speaker
um But we opted not to do that. and So. yeah Yeah. So we stayed, stayed here, got up, left. The plan was to leave our house at six 30. I think we left at six 45. So we're close.
00:05:21
Speaker
We were to my parents' house by before nine 45. So he did get had good timing. Um, traffic, uh, was, is better at that time of day, apparently. So good to know.
00:05:33
Speaker
Um, No Troubles and Gaffney. No Troubles and Gaffney. Dude, was amazing. like we We just went straight through. It incredible. On a Saturday morning of all things, too. Saturday morning, yeah. So that went great.
00:05:44
Speaker
um Yeah, got to my parents. you know just Pretty much just kind of like got ready to go. I think Lily like changed it or something ah because she i was just like kind of rolled out of bed, hopped in the car. um As teenagers do. Exactly.
00:05:59
Speaker
Exactly. so Which, by the way, you know her high school, they did win their homecoming game Friday night. So that was good. That was a good start of the weekend. It was also our homecoming. It was homecoming for everybody, I guess, Jim. I guess so. It was homecoming for Harrison, too.
00:06:12
Speaker
don't know they won or not. um So, yeah. So then we ended up like and we didn't get on the campus until, I mean, like 10 something. Yeah. So I was trying to meet up with somebody from work, um kind of over by Tate Center.
00:06:27
Speaker
We were in the same place, but at different times, so didn't connect. I ended up popping over to to Hug Dogs. And so hung out with the Huggins family and Matt Key and crew for a bit and then headed on to the game. we So we didn't do a whole of tailgating, which I knew was going to be the case. Yeah.
00:06:44
Speaker
But it was great, man. was a nice day. um The cloud cover was nice. ah Made it not so hot. A couple of times during the game, with this the clouds moved and the sun came out.
00:06:57
Speaker
I was like, oh no, like, go away. it uh it got really hot all of a sudden what just happened um but yeah fantastic day saw ah coach trill came by during the game ah ran into 51 to 7 gata just in the concourse um like right before halftime uh so was a good day was a good day post game was phenomenal too i don't know if we want to talk about post we can maybe talk about that after we talk about the game or should i mention that now because it was it was pretty awesome look We can talk about it at the end, I guess.
00:07:28
Speaker
Okay. Okay.

Key Plays and Player Performances

00:07:29
Speaker
We'll talk about the game first. the Chronologically, it feels right. That's fine. That's fine. um So, yeah. um In our seats, you know, plenty of time.
00:07:39
Speaker
um Did you guys get get get carols before you before you went in? No, no. We talked, we we we commented on how packed the parking lot was when we left. Well, as we, as we talked about, i feel like every time the park, every time we go there, the parking lot is full. However, it usually goes pretty quick.
00:07:58
Speaker
Correct. Correct. Um, I'm trying to think we know I will though shout out Huggins family. um I did have a bacon egg and cheese biscuit at his tailgate.
00:08:10
Speaker
So thanks Jason. It was phenomenal. So yeah, that's all um so I had that in lieu of the country covered. but We need to get Hug Dog or the the the folks the folks at Morseau.
00:08:27
Speaker
We need to get those guys cater carols for one of those games. Get some TECs over there. We need to talk to Zeke. but
00:08:38
Speaker
um That's awesome, dude. Yeah, pregame pregame was great. The weather was perfect. I agree ah from my side. it was It was a beautiful day here, so I assume it was it was pretty similar there. Yeah, it was nice. I will say, I mean, I'll come clean. like i you know With the timing of when we left, like I did not do a pregame run, and Georgia played pretty well. So I think i'm cool with that.
00:09:01
Speaker
I think the key was is that I did my run separate.
00:09:07
Speaker
ah Incredible. Incredible. So yeah, dude, then Jalen Walker was there to call the dogs. I got to say, did a great did a great job.
00:09:18
Speaker
you know I like to critique how well you call the dogs. Do you give an ample time between yelling go and in the final dogs at the end? He did a very good job. So excellent job, Jalen Walker.
00:09:29
Speaker
Was he wearing Georgia gear? e He was I don't think he was He was wearing like a peach state type t-shirt Like I think you had like a peach on it So it was like not University of Georgia But it was like state of Georgia From what I recall Just checking I always like to see the alumni wearing UGA gear or so Right, right, right.
00:09:50
Speaker
um yeahmen special Especially on Hong Kong. Yeah. um But yeah, it was a good day. It was a good day. so Excellent. and And then we we had we had the game.
00:10:02
Speaker
i that And we had a fast start, right? So like I think that was... So good to see offense. You know, we we get the ball first, go right down the score. um And then did it again.
00:10:16
Speaker
The next time we got the ball, like that, that was just, that was great to see. don't know. Coming out of the gate, not having, not having to wait. um The thing I will say, the joke that I made probably way too many times during the game um to my dad was like,
00:10:31
Speaker
Every short yardage situation, i was like, well, that was a better play than we ran on fourth and one.
00:10:38
Speaker
Dude, I, yeah, seriously. I don't know. I made that joke ah at least five times, probably more. Yeah. you know it's It is interesting. Like I've started to notice a couple of things like when, when cash Jones is in,
00:10:52
Speaker
I feel like whenever cashes in and he's offset from Gunner, the play is going to the right. like I'm wondering if like these little things that I'm that i'm picking up on... um like I think someone else mentioned something like if UGA has an unbalanced offensive line, it's it's almost always ah run play. I'm wondering if if like the predictability and and all those kinds of things that we talk about with Bobo are things that...
00:11:19
Speaker
like our, our off, like the the question is like our off our defensive minds in the sec, figuring out our tendencies and figuring out these things. Like you meant, like we mentioned, Alabama, you know, they went back to how far back did they go back? 2022, 2021. Um, think it was, uh, like they were, they went back to that Ohio state people. So 22, 22. Yes. Like,
00:11:43
Speaker
twenty two yes like I think that and think that there's there's enough film out there to to kind of articulate some of our tendencies. So I'd like to see some of that get broken up a little bit.
00:11:55
Speaker
I know that we ran similar plays um to the Alabama game that were successful for us um this time around. So that was positive. um But yeah, I would say that, you know,
00:12:08
Speaker
to open the game with two touchdown drives that were, you know, 11 plays plus 75 yards and and ah and over. i think the the second touchdown was like 96 yards.
00:12:20
Speaker
Yeah. um But then like, you know, the second quarter hit and it was just like a ah comedy of errors. It felt like. um For everyone, like we got torched, we got absolutely torched on their touchdown drive, it was four plays for 75 yards.
00:12:39
Speaker
And um I remember that they just had, it was just like, what are we doing on what are we doing on defense, like that was probably one of the the most concerning drives that I've seen year long.
00:12:50
Speaker
Yeah, and the touchdown pass that they they threw I mean, it was like so open. And that came like right toward, that's the end zone that we're sitting in, where that where that came to. And I mean, who yeah, like i was I saw him breaking open like really early.
00:13:08
Speaker
I was like, oh, no. ah This isn't good. itmin tri optimal Yeah. I mean, he just waltzed in. So yeah, that was pretty brutal. It was brutal. um Yeah. But after that, it was yeah that was, it was decent, I guess, you know, we threw the interception, which gunner.
00:13:26
Speaker
Yeah. Dude, he threw it right the guy. That was was such a bad interception. It left his hand. Same thing. Like that one, like it left his hand and I was like, uh-oh. mean I mean, I'll cut him with some slack. it's ah It is his first pick of the season. that first pick of the season, yeah. so And we had a lead already, all that kind of stuff. So I don't I think he just got excited. Did you see Kirby kind of like spun it to a positive or something? Like at least he's taking risks or something along that. I mean, I'd rather, I'm sorry, Kirby. I'd rather you take some other risks.
00:13:58
Speaker
I know. I don't, and I'm, I'm paraphrasing. It's not exactly what he but he said something about like, you have to, don't know, like it shows that he was taking risks or something like you don't, you don't throw interceptions when you're not taking risks or something like that. i don't know.
00:14:10
Speaker
But anyways, Yeah, I hear you. But then we didn't we didn't we they didn't make us pay for it. and i went They got three plays, one yard. But then we followed that up with a punt. But then the defense know did what they were supposed to do. in Another three plays, six yards. So they had seven yards after that touchdown.
00:14:29
Speaker
So I would say that that's a pretty pretty solid answer from the from the defense. Then we go down and score touchdown.

Player Highlights and Comparisons

00:14:37
Speaker
And then... um Yeah, they had a ah longer drive, but still they they turned it over on downs because they they they couldn't kick the field goal, which I think that had they kicked the field goal or scored a touchdown there, would have been a different vibe for the rest of the game. But for them to come away with zero points, there was quite a backbreaker for them.
00:14:58
Speaker
Yeah, and that was that kind of gets to the whole like the middle eight thing, right? because So they they're trying to get points before the half. um I mean, the drive was there. Had a good drive. We talked about in the pregame that their kicker had been perfect on the season.
00:15:11
Speaker
um Something about kicking in Sanford Stadium or just kicking against Georgia, I don't know, um missed it. And then what, opening drive, second half, was when we caused a fumble.
00:15:21
Speaker
And then we go down and score. So, you know, we really dominated that. We dominated that middle eight. That middle eight. Yeah, 100%. So um other things love to see. um i know a text. I texted. I believe I texted you and Coach Trill and said, is Gunnar trying to hit Coach Trill's over two and a rushing touchdowns all by himself after a second rushing touchdown?
00:15:42
Speaker
um But then, you know, Dylan Bell smashed the over, um having two rushing touchdowns on his own. I mean, i feel like we need to call this like the Dylan Bell game almost like, yeah know, the unofficial official. it'ss what yeah It's the Dylan Bell. Don't call it a comeback. Comeback game. Yeah.
00:16:03
Speaker
What a great game. What a great game. um Running. Catch. He did everything but throw pass. We'll say that. you which Which, by the way, can we talk about that for a second? like At some point, he's going to throw a touchdown pass this season, I feel like. Yeah. I mean, he's done what we've seen him do it before. like It's coming. It's coming, bro.
00:16:21
Speaker
He's going to throw a touchdown pass to Colby Young. Book it. I want to talk about his, I think I want to talk about his second touchdown. The one where it was like an option left and around. I absolutely love that play.
00:16:33
Speaker
What I tweeted Sunday morning was that ah Bobo went so deep into his bag for that play. He grabbed a play at a Jim Donan's playbook, which is absolutely true. We used to run that play, you know, my early college days so much. So in fact, that I used to call that play in flag football games and we would play intramural flag football.
00:16:51
Speaker
Like that was, that was like my play. That was my trick play. ah By the way, shout out Blake Hughes was like amazing as the end around receiver on that, by the way, back in college. Anyways, um Graham coffee, like expand, even expanded more on that later on, adding in that the first time we saw that play run, when Donovan was the coach, the quarterback was Mike Bobo and the end around was the Heinz wart.
00:17:18
Speaker
Uh, so that was like, I think it was a two point conversion play. I think, um, I know was in the Texas tech game, like crazy. I think that was actually Donna's like first win, but anyway, any rate, at rate if you go watch that play, same play, like opposite direction, it's pretty cool to see stuff like that kind of hang around and, and see it resurface.
00:17:38
Speaker
ah That was that was fun. That was fun to see. Yeah, I, I have a feeling because we've seen that play a couple of times this season, right? Like the Dylan Bell, like end around situation. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like that more like jet sweep type stuff. This one, though, the option, the option. and then it's like your pitch into the option but and the receiver almost like intercepts it.
00:17:56
Speaker
Like I just I love I've always loved that play. Right. So I'll say this. watch Watch for the pass at some point this season. yeah i'm just That's all I'm going to say. I feel like Bobo is lulling people to sleep with that that's going to be an end-around run, and he's going to bust one to someone that's streaking wide open.
00:18:17
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that. Oh, you mentioned Cash. It was good to see Cash Money get back in the end zone. i Yeah, he had a little scamper. But what I'll say is that's frustrating about that is that that's a play that people were talking about that they wanted to see as opposed to right the what ended up happening.
00:18:37
Speaker
Again, a better short yard display than what we ran. An angle route. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, totally. I'm with you. I'm with you. um How about ah about Oscar Delp?
00:18:49
Speaker
That long. Yeah, dude. Where's that where has that been all season? First of all. Holy cow. Like, dude, he took off. It was shades of Brock Bowers at Auburn.
00:19:00
Speaker
It was. i don't know that I've ever seen Delp run that fast. I've never seen him run that fast. Yeah, 100%. like He was out running DBs. If there wasn't a safety over the top there that was coming over um who had an angle on him from the get-go, like if that safety hadn't been in the play, like he was gone. yeah Yeah. I don't think those DBs are catching him. But they're like, golly, this white boy can run. Yeah.
00:19:24
Speaker
as As Trey would say, it was the ah the entertainment crackers. Oh, my gosh.
00:19:32
Speaker
ah Too good. Too good. That was sweet. um The other thing that i and did was kind of funny, and I had, like, I commented on it when it happened, and then I forgot about it.
00:19:43
Speaker
And then Kevin Butler brought it up on the Bulldog Brunch on Sunday. Yeah. Did you see the play? Because you were fast forwarding. So I don't know if you did. Did you see the play where like Gunner threw the ball over the middle and Lucky like ducked?
00:19:55
Speaker
Like so the ball, I think. So lost and lucky. I think he thought like, oh, this isn't to me. Like it's like to someone behind me. And he like ducked. And it almost got intercepted. weird.
00:20:07
Speaker
It was so weird. It's like, dude, just catch it. Like, why are you ducking?
00:20:13
Speaker
He's, I mean, that just goes to show you how little he's been used all season long. right yeah He's not even expecting me to throw. Yeah, he can't be throwing it to me. Yeah, so that that one was weird. um i think I think Eric Zier's joke was like, look, like if it's in your vicinity, I throw it to you. Like, that's kind of the gore makes me talk. He's like, just catch the ball, young man.
00:20:30
Speaker
That was kind of weird. That was kind of weird. But um i mean maybe he was... Like he was, he like the fourth or fifth option kind of thing. And he's like, there's no way that was to me. It was one of those things where you've got like two re receivers kind of like running similar routes at different depths kind of thing. So there was someone behind him. Like they're both kind of like leaking out to the left or whatever.
00:20:51
Speaker
um So there was somebody behind him running a similar route. um But I'm pretty sure it was too lucky. i don't know. It looked weird. What I hear you saying, Jim, is that Bobo and Gunnar tried to get the tight ends involved.

Defensive Critiques and Team Dynamics

00:21:04
Speaker
Fair. Yes. Yes. Yes. It was good to see that back. It was good to see that back. Yeah. It was a get-right game for everybody. Which, you know, post-game win expectancy was nearly 100%. The expectancy, i think, never got below ninety two percent or something like that so ah This is a bad Kentucky team.
00:21:26
Speaker
Probably not the best example for us to compare for everyone, but it was a conference game. um It is a game that we to did. we we we we We finally broke our spread donut, right?
00:21:41
Speaker
Yes. Yeah, because I think yeah doesn it was, I mean, is it 20 and a half? So one by 21. Yeah. Wow. Vegas. cow it's That does not bode well for the next game. Yeah, seriously.
00:21:57
Speaker
um Yeah. No, that's a I think that, like I said, i think that that's thats that exactly what we were looking for. The only thing that's missing that's been missing all season long was like, I feel like we need to put them on the back of a ah milk carton gym. Like, have you seen this defensive line?
00:22:13
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, they' there's still, don't know, there's just, there's not really a push. mean, that's really all I can say about it. You know, it's like, it's like it doesn't it doesn't seem to matter a whole lot either. Like, if like we bring an extra guy or not or whatever, like, we're just not disrupting the quarterback, you know?
00:22:29
Speaker
Something i ain't working. Yeah. So I don't know. um don't know what it is. um I think I just feel like the coaches have to continue to like self scout and look at that and they're going to have to dial something up at some point.
00:22:44
Speaker
um Because again, even though we had two turnovers, but then we may have had two of our own. So we're still just not great in the turnover margin, you know?
00:22:55
Speaker
Yeah, the turnover margin for sure. um But you you say that and like Ellis Robinson, I think, leads the SEC is like tied for first and the SEC for interceptions or something like that.
00:23:07
Speaker
Interesting. um I believe Trey posted that earlier today. um But then you also look at. um So here's something that I thought is strange, like.
00:23:20
Speaker
You know, one of the one of the hallmarks of a Kirby Smart defense was that shift that we do, like the the stunt or whatever. Yeah. um I haven't seen any of that this season.
00:23:31
Speaker
i don't know if that's because of the new rule with, like, you know, ah defensive delay of game or something like that, whatever they call it. um But I have seen people do it to us.
00:23:41
Speaker
So like, I don't know. Yeah. it's It's like a simulating movement to cause a false start kind of thing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I, I, yeah, I figured that's go with that. Honestly. I don't know.
00:23:54
Speaker
I think it's a good question. See, that's the kind of question someone should ask Kirby in a press conference. Just saying. Yeah. As opposed to the questions he gets. As opposed to, do you, as opposed to like explain how hard, why why it's so hard for transfers to get into the game.
00:24:12
Speaker
yeah exactly. so Have you seen this guy's Zachary Branch? Yeah. Yeah, seriously. Which, oh man, ah I know he ended up there, ended up up being a penalty and anyways, but he took a tick off on a punt return. I got, I got a little excited when he started going because there was, there was some blocking set up though. That was fun.
00:24:32
Speaker
That was fun. Yeah. And dude, Thorson, ah man, way to make an impression on your only punt. I think that he took was it Matt Key's question? ah who who Who asked about Brett? Oh, I think it was one i think that was one Matt's questions. Somebody asked a question about like Thorson, like should be worried be worried about Thorson.
00:24:55
Speaker
i feel I feel like he took that to heart. he He hurt his feelings, and so he decided to just Boom one to the one yard line. let mean, that thing could not have bounced. all right. So let's talk about this for a second.
00:25:07
Speaker
So the dichotomy between that punt. landing and going straight sideways and Zachariah Branch getting punt or a kickoff or whatever. i think it was the punt.
00:25:20
Speaker
And he caught it. He was backing up and caught it inside the five yard line or something like that. Didn't end up costing us, but like, bro, like that's like football.
00:25:32
Speaker
That's, that's punt return one-on-one. Like if you take, Any steps backwards, you let the ball go is what I've, I've always heard them be coached at. Right. And he took, you plant your feet where you expect to go and you don't go backwards.
00:25:46
Speaker
Yeah. And he did it. i mean, it was a fair catch. Like he signaled fair catch and caught it at our four. And then he turned around and he's like, Oh, yeah. ah Yeah. Thankfully the elephants went 96 yards and it was fine. But yeah, I, yeah, that was interesting.
00:26:00
Speaker
I'm pretty sure I texted like, bro, what are we doing?
00:26:04
Speaker
Zachary. Come on, man. ah He ain't going to make that. He ain't going to make that mistake again. Right. ah Speaking of sorry, Carter's the return of the rage stroke was another thing that I was looking for.
00:26:15
Speaker
Okay. So I, I haven't like rewatched the game at all. So I know you said he had one, but I don't know. i don't know the situation. I haven't seen it. Bro. ah So there was there's a couple of them.
00:26:27
Speaker
So there was one where i can't remember what the situation was. It was like a penalty or um he and he had like it was a hot mic. It was a hot mic moment ah where he was just like, we got all the momentum.
00:26:43
Speaker
Oh, you know what? Okay. Okay. Yes, I did. You had to have seen Well, yeah, I haven't rewatched the game, but I remember someone like tweeted like you know themselves, they they recorded their TV or whatever, and said, Hot Mike.
00:26:58
Speaker
i saw I did see that. Yeah. there I think it was Boss Dog sent to sent it to the podcast. It was like, Hot Mike!
00:27:06
Speaker
that is where i saw it yes so there's that and then he had a rage stroke against one of the one of the freshmen that had a couple of penalties called on him like it was it was like back-to-back penalties kind of thing and he was coming over to the sideline i can't remember it number was it 14 and i can't remember who it was on the defense might have been number 11 on the defense i can't remember um But anyway, he made it he made a dumb ah dumb mistake. like There was a holding, and then there was another penalty that was like completely unnecessary.
00:27:40
Speaker
And he was coming to the sideline, and Kirby like turns to the coaching staff and and and basically says, like I've got it. I've got it. And then he proceeds to like...
00:27:57
Speaker
nice. You could just tell that he was just letting him know that that's one too many times that he made a mistake. i feel like if he'd have been Darth Vader, he would have force choked him.
00:28:10
Speaker
um But yeah, no, that's the fire and the passion that we were looking for. And the energy, fire, passion, energy, Kirby, like Kirby says that he needs to see it.
00:28:21
Speaker
ah We need to see it. I needed to see it from him. So like rage stroke Kirby, bring him on back, please. you show me And he did. And he did. He did that just for you. He did. And he did.
00:28:33
Speaker
Confirmed Kirby smart. I got a podcast listener.
00:28:39
Speaker
Amazing. um Yeah, I think those are my my notes that I had. Yeah, I'm trying to think. i don't think that I had too many other items. though I mean, a Kentucky missed field goal, which um we were curious, and I don't know that I actually ah verified this or not, but I think that the guy that we knew on on Yeah.
00:29:06
Speaker
Yeah. The, the kicker is different. So the, the, their kicker, uh, either last year or year before was actually from Harrison, like a local high school boy. Um, but he's no longer, he's in the NFL now, I believe.
00:29:19
Speaker
Um, so when, when we saw that missed field goal, Carter was like, Ooh, who kicked it? That's funny. Um, was it wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't the guy. Right.
00:29:30
Speaker
Right. Yeah. Yeah, the new kicker is a freshman. Man, dude, he shanked. He shanked that one. Yeah, man. Like I said, he was 8 of 8 on field goals and 12 of 12 on extra points coming in that game.
00:29:43
Speaker
And yeah field goal attendance in Sanford Stadium did not go well. Against Georgia. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, I think that and we were were close.
00:29:55
Speaker
We were close on the yardage. I would have liked to have seen Chauncey Bowens, bro, Chauncey Bowens running back number one. It was nice to see Nate Frazier get back and have a nice game, but... That's a good call, man. he He did. I feel like he played.
00:30:08
Speaker
It was good to see him have a good game. And he he had some of his kind of like signature like cutbacks that, you know, that that he does make guys like fall over and stuff was was good to see. Which, by the way, we didn't mention like Gunner made a guy fall over um on his second touchdown. was incredible.
00:30:25
Speaker
Yeah, he drew he drew two guys out. Yeah. Have you seen the edit where someone like kind of, they like, um, I think it was the first one kind of like basically comparing, comparing it to Stetson's when he dove to pylon against Tennessee in like 2022. It's great. It's like Gunner takes off. And then right before he dives it, like transitions, transition to Stetson.
00:30:46
Speaker
time for the power is It was a good edit. it Shout out whoever made it. I don't remember. I remember who made it. So that's a, that's actually a good point too, for things to look out moving forward. We on the pod on the, on the, on the text thread, we've been talking about like this feeling, and this is not verified by any inside sources or anything, but just the feeling that, that he was told to not run in some games earlier this season kind of thing. Yeah.
00:31:16
Speaker
like and manufactured adversity. Right. I felt... And it looked like that Gunner was in his element.
00:31:27
Speaker
Like they allowed him to basically do what he needed to do naturally. Does that make sense? Like yeah they didn't give him, they didn't put any reins on him or anything like that. It just felt like that he was free.
00:31:38
Speaker
He was just freewheeling, you know, the whole way. um hesitate to say that like, I think he was having fun, but like, you know, i mean, he seemed like he was having fun.
00:31:48
Speaker
Yeah. you Not that he wasn't having fun before, but he just looked more comfortable, I guess is what I should say. Honestly, like, no, I think you're onto something. I feel like the team looked like that.
00:32:00
Speaker
And I know, again, like, I don't want to, I don't want to compare playing Kentucky to playing Alabama, but like we looked, we looked tight against Alabama and like, it's a big game.
00:32:13
Speaker
It's a night game. It's a pressure situation. So I get it. Um, but I mean, they looked like you're right. I mean, they look like they were playing loose, having fun on Saturday. So more of that, please.
00:32:25
Speaker
Yeah, more of that, please, for sure. Let's go out and blow someone out on the road. um i was going to report back, like to I know as you were you were fast forwarding some, so just confirming the music, the second down music did not did not was not played in this game.
00:32:42
Speaker
So that seems to have been a one game thing, or at least maybe it's a night game thing or whatever. They didn't do in this game. I'll just say that. Yeah. I mean, Hey, if you're ah game day person or have an ear and someone's that does control that um it's okay.
00:32:59
Speaker
It's okay to use it Just, know, not every single freaking time. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I think, that I think,
00:33:10
Speaker
know that I have much, much else to say on it. Um, yeah yeah, we saw, we we saw what we wanted to see. We won't, we saw what we wanted to see at the team. I, the only other thing that I have to say about it is that I was quite frustrated by the number of injuries. Uh, I'll be curious to hear, the injury report for this week, but it just felt like that we lost a lot of guys and it was just like good grief.
00:33:33
Speaker
I don't know. the i don't know like we've We've got so many freshmen playing on the offensive line at this point. like I have to give Stacey a pass moving forward if these guys aren't coming back. But we've just got a lot of you we've got a lot of youth across the board playing right now.
00:33:49
Speaker
Yeah. um Which I feel like we had youth last season, but I don't know. I guess that they've gotten better. the the the The younger kids coming in are even more talented than the ones we had before because they've usurped and they're starting. so um i don't know the there's just a lot of a lot of injuries lot i'd like to i'd like to see those injuries get eliminated moving forward because we've got like a walking wounded going on right now i think they mentioned that uh one of our guys was playing with a hurt shoulder on the offensive line um which you know i guess at this point everybody's hurt to a certain extent but like
00:34:29
Speaker
They mentioned it on the broadcast, which tells me that it's more than just like aches and pains and, you know, jammed fingers and such. Right, right, right. um The only one that I know, i'll have to go back and double check because I know Monroe Freeling went down. I did see something today where someone said, sounds like it's it's not as bad as what they originally thought.
00:34:53
Speaker
is what i That's all I saw. And I saw that on on Twitter, so it must be true. I mean, on the sideline, he looked uncomfortable. um i think on the broadcast they mentioned that it was an ankle injury. Yeah. And call me crazy, Jim, but generally speaking, when 300-pound men have ankle issues, doesn't usually pan out very well.
00:35:13
Speaker
Yeah. It usually takes a minute heal. Yeah. It's not an overnighted recovery. recovery Yep. Yep. Um, well, yeah, uh, took care of business and, um, you know, cover the spread against the sec opponent.

Game Outcome Discussions

00:35:30
Speaker
I'll, I'll take that. I'll take that. Yeah. Amen. Let's do so we had joked that it was separation Saturday um um coaches over unders.
00:35:42
Speaker
It actually did the exact opposite. um we We are now once again tied didn coaches over unders on the season. um Both under 500, by the way, but we don't need to talk about any specifics.
00:35:56
Speaker
I'm I had a horrible, horrible game last game. It's so funny. And then let's see in the, we're also completely tied ah we're both 500 in coaches pickums as well.
00:36:12
Speaker
I went over three in the pick them games last week, which is absolutely hilarious. That's that's hard to do. um So, but so with that, I will take it. And then also like rooting for teams that I didn't pick in the pick-ems.
00:36:26
Speaker
but I know. and I know. It's like, you were like, you were texting, you're I've got this team and this team. I was like, well, that's not what you had coaches pick-ems. you go You're like, well, I'm not saying that I'm saying what I want to have. I Too good.
00:36:40
Speaker
um So we did. So after the game ended, we went back to the car, which my dad drove to the game, drove us over to Creature

Memorable Post-game Experience

00:36:50
Speaker
Country. you drive the Mercedes? Yeah.
00:36:52
Speaker
No, it is back. We were in the truck. We're in this truck. We drove over from our parking deck over to Creature Comforts, found a spot. There was like a huge line.
00:37:03
Speaker
So um we had decided, my mom was like, is there what do you guys want to do for dinner? Like, what do you want to do after the game? And I was like, well, we talked about maybe going to Creature Comforts, seeing what the food seeing what food truck is there. You know, we like to do that. It's like, all right, well, let's just do that.
00:37:15
Speaker
So we get there. Like, I mean, the line was like to the corner to get in. We're like, so like my dad and I, we, so we stopped and let Kim, Lily and my mom out.
00:37:26
Speaker
And so they went and hopped in in line. My dad and I went and found a parking spot. So anyway, so we ended up just hanging out line. We're like, what we're like chicken scores and everything. um we get in and then I was reminded what part of the original reason why we talked about it. And I had even talked about this with you, i think in the podcast after the podcast,
00:37:45
Speaker
I said, I think Bunton Pass does a post-game thing there. And like Lily loves Jake Fromm. So kind of want to go do that. And I think we were like, well, but is that every game? not really sure. so anyway, so we're, we get in there. i still don't know this is a thing.
00:37:59
Speaker
And then I look over like which line to get in to grab a beer. The ones that kind of the further from the entrance, that line was a little shorter. we're walking over there and I see like a set. I'm like, oh my gosh.
00:38:10
Speaker
they are here. So it was like, it's like a post game show on Atlanta first news. I think it's the old, is it the old Peachtree TV? I'm not sure. Yeah, I think so. I've seen it. I've wondered the same thing. Like it almost looks like a fake news TV station. So it's like, right. So, so it was, uh, Drew Butler, Jake from a dad and David Bellamy all day. So they're all there.
00:38:32
Speaker
And so like, and like Lily didn't see Jake because he was faced away from us. And and so we're like in line to get drinks. And like, Lily, turn around. and she says, what? I was like, that's Jake from like, and he was like two feet from her. Like we were like, like right there, like right off the set. It was hilarious.
00:38:49
Speaker
So then she's like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. It's so good. So um she had worn her Jake from Jersey to the game. So while we're still standing there online, the show ends, they turn around, they're like talking to everybody and everything. And so we're like, Lily, just go over there. So she went over there um and then he was signing something for somebody else. And she's like oh my gosh, kid, he signed my jersey. i was like, yeah. She's like, we wouldnt have a Sharpie. What am I going to I was like, ask this girl if you can use her Sharpie. Like, yeah, that's getting in a signature right now.
00:39:19
Speaker
Uh, so she did. So he signed the back of her Jersey. Uh, she had a selfie with Jake. It's, it's an awesome picture. it was so good. Uh, so that was really cool, man. Made her day. Um, it was a lot of fun.
00:39:31
Speaker
It was a lot of fun. So thankful that we waited through that line. because when we saw the line, we're all kind of like, ah, do we even want to go here? um and thankfully we, we hopped in. Cause at that point I wasn't even thinking about that they would be there.
00:39:43
Speaker
So, It was awesome. It was a great ending to our day. That's great. What a great, what a great evening. And then you got to hang out and drink some good beers. Yeah, man. Yeah. So then we did there did that. Some good tacos and burgers.
00:39:57
Speaker
Yeah, I did the food trucks. um They had Alabama Vanderbilt was on a big screen. Watch that. I got out my i got up my phone, pulled up the YouTube TV and had the four games on so we could monitor other games as well.
00:40:09
Speaker
um It was a great day. it was It was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. It's a great time over there, man. Did you see Matt? I did not. No, I thought about that. I did not. I did i have never been there and seen it. Yeah, no.
00:40:24
Speaker
That's funny. So, no. i did i always talk to you should You should have asked ah Drew Butler and and Jake f Fromm if they'd talked to him because I feel like they've talked to him before. I would imagine they have if they've been over there.
00:40:35
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, it's ah it's a great spot, man. I love being over there. um i also like, you know, being able to try out beers that, well, for me, they're all different because I can't get them here in North Carolina. but I mean, there's the the the ones that you got, i've I've not seen any of those even yeah living living here. Yeah, the salted lime lager is like really good. So that's the one I had.
00:41:02
Speaker
and the The other ones were, I know, I don't think you're as into the darker beers, but I got some double cocoa bunny to go and then a vibe coating. I'm excited to try the vibe coating just because the name is amazing.
00:41:14
Speaker
They look pretty cool. They have cool cans. That's for sure. yeah that is real Yeah. Those are like the special

Family Traditions and Reflections

00:41:21
Speaker
release ones or whatever. So yeah, yeah always a good time over there. And shout out J from thank you for core memory, core memory for Lily.
00:41:30
Speaker
so So does she like wear that jersey still? does she frame it? She actually said, she was like, dad, I don't think I can ever wear this again. So I think the plan is to not wear it. And she was like, I think she was like, so can I get like another one to wear? Like, what what are we going to do?
00:41:47
Speaker
and
00:41:49
Speaker
Uh, so we'll have to figure that out. TBD. But yeah. Yeah. d DH gate is always a good go-to. There you go see hey yeah like I told her, I was like, i was like, man, you're, you're on a bit of a roll here, Lily. You've got so far this season, you've got your t-shirt signed by Gunnar Stockton.
00:42:05
Speaker
At Armored Reserve. And then now you're from Jersey signed by Jake at Creature Comforts. So it's been a heck of a ah season for her going to So you you got to find Stetson and stetsin and you got find ah David Green somewhere. And then you'll, and and DJ Shockley, and you can hit for the Georgia ah georgia quarterback cycle.
00:42:23
Speaker
There you go. there we go I guess technically you could also throw a Mike Bobo in there too. um mean I'll take that. we Get Murray. Get little Aaron Murray side. But he's not from Georgia. Oh, from Georgia quarterbacks.
00:42:35
Speaker
Yeah. The georgia court Georgia boy quarterback. Okay. okay I like it. We'll be on the lookout. We'll be on looking yeah yeah even a mar at the He should have been national championship quarterback.
00:42:49
Speaker
Should have been. So annoying. Can throw in Marietta grad Eric Zier. Oh, yeah. Yeah. but ah Well, anything else from ah from the evening?
00:43:00
Speaker
Um, no, I think, uh, yeah, we, we kind of wrapped up the creature covers, went back, uh, had a Ponda's famous coconut cream pie, you know, and that was kind of, I I don't know that I've had that yet.
00:43:13
Speaker
This one, this one, she, she, she bought it. I'll let the cat out back on that one. but she She had that on hand. No, the one that she makes is the coconut cake, which have you had back? I have not. I don't think i mean been got know we got it. We got it. We got to get you to have a reunion. You're not a coconut person.
00:43:29
Speaker
I mean, um anything the panda makes person. Okay. Yeah. We've got to get you a slice of the coconut cake. It's pretty good. All and around Around the news and news around the around the world or whatever, the the UCLA upset was pretty awesome.
00:43:49
Speaker
Yeah, dude, the footage of Rick Neuheisel watching his son you know call the place and win. Have you seen that? and That's pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah. Dude, they look just like each other. And he looks like Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones.
00:44:04
Speaker
That's funny. But yeah, man, like everything, like his manner is like he talks just like his dad. okay That was pretty cool. how embarrassing is that for James Franklin, man? Like, bro, bro just started calling plays.
00:44:17
Speaker
but They didn't even. they didn't even Like he'd never called blaze till three days before the game. Did you see him talking about how I feel like we need to like have him on my on a podcast. Like it's like, what are you doing tomorrow? What are you doing tomorrow? You want be off as coordinator? Exactly. Um,
00:44:35
Speaker
Did you see? he was like He was like, I hate to admit this, but I didn't practice like calling the plays. And so he like he like wasn't doing a good job of like talking into the microphone to the headset of the quarterback. That's hilarious.
00:44:48
Speaker
Oh, man. That is funny. That stuff's happening and they still win? Like, wow. Yeah. I mean, we got, what, our number one and two... preseason teams are not ranked at all in Texas and Penn State.
00:45:00
Speaker
I mean, i mean how was thought i always thought Texas was fraudulent. I knew that Penn State would be fraudulent eventually, but I did not expect them to be fraudulent against UCLA.
00:45:12
Speaker
Yeah, UCLA. Yeah.
00:45:15
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. yeah I mean, uh, there is some fun that the night games weren't as good. Like I sat down and watched Miami Florida state. It was kind of like closer ish score by the end, but the game wasn't really close kind of thing, but Miami looks good, man.
00:45:30
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, they do. Vandy, I feel like Alabama did to Vandy what we probably should have done to Alabama, by the way, like close game and then pull away late. Vandy didn't have quite the gas to keep up with Bama.
00:45:43
Speaker
But that was a fun game to watch. It was a good game. Yeah, I agree. um I think that, I mean, i didn't see, me see, postgame win expectancy. What was that game? I'm curious now because we were looking at the postgame win expectancy stats because I was curious what what our when postgame win expectancy was.
00:46:06
Speaker
So what is Vanderbilt in Alabama? Vanderbilt. Yeah, their post-game win expectancy was 9%. Okay. yeah um But that said, i don't know.
00:46:20
Speaker
Like, yeah. they um they get they They turned the ball over twice inside the 15, inside the red zone. It was the turnovers. It was the turnovers. Yeah, dude. It was ill-advised. don't know if you saw a view today like, one of his interceptions, like, from the end zone, Cam. They're like the The guy that picked the pass off was actually like, I think he was screened from Pavia's view by the ref.
00:46:46
Speaker
Like, it looked like there was nobody there. And then he threw he stepped out from behind the referee and picked it off. It was kind of weird. I mean, I guess that's one way to use the referee to your advantage. I guess so.
00:46:58
Speaker
I guess Yeah. yeah Well, we've got we we get to drive in our trucks this week, Jim. so um I know we've got that preview coming up. and we'll just we got let's just keep this Let's keep that truck rolling.
00:47:17
Speaker
That will be the focus. Awesome. Well, I'm glad that you guys had a good, it was a good wood family family weekend. I'm glad that Lily and Kim were able to get down for the game. Sorry I missed you guys.
00:47:31
Speaker
um But we'll ah catch you on the flip side. Dawgs. Go dogs
