Join us in another crossover episode where Vik had a chat with Daniel from Brentford! Remind yourself with some of the past H2H matches between these 2 teams and find out if Dan and Vik will get the correct score prediction for Saturday!
It's expected a lot to come from Semenyo in this game, so hopefully we'll see some goals from him which will help him get his confidence back!

So, yeah, I'm in the lucky number of fans who have enough loyalty points to get a ticket to Bournemouth

I've always been, gentlemen,
00:01:53
Speaker
and as i've always been gentlemen I'll let you talk, Daniel. So a big game on Saturday and you are coming down. This this is something i obviously you didn't tell before before we started recording.

Bournemouth's Home Record

00:02:05
Speaker
So I'm glad.
00:02:07
Speaker
I'm glad because there's more things talk about, right? And I can approach more directly because I'll be seeing you a Saturday in person. and So um our last game ah away, you've beaten us three too Lucky you always play good in your stadium.
00:02:23
Speaker
I think you were on seven. Yeah. So when we played you you, you haven't lost a home game yet. Yes, we've lost a lot of them now in recent weeks. So it's kind of turned around. I think...

Brentford's Recent Form

00:02:37
Speaker
Bournemouth aside, ah earlier in the season, we played the likes of Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton, Wolves. though All the bottom seven or eight visited the GTEC. So and apart from Bournemouth and Newcastle, who we also beat at home, within that run, we didn't play too many top-half teams. We didn't play too many quality teams. And I think that's why in recent months, so we've now won four away games in a row,
00:03:06
Speaker
and we're winless in seven home games. So I think, and I was saying it at the time as well, I think part of the reason for that run and the reversal of that run is simply the teams that we've played.
00:03:17
Speaker
We've been very good this season against those bottom five or six teams. We've beaten all of them. um the ah The only one we didn't beat was Everton away, but that was when we had 10 men for more than 45 minutes earlier in the season. We still came away draw. So yeah,
00:03:33
Speaker
We've done very well on that front. I think we struggled a bit more against the top half teams this season. I think only really Newcastle at home. We did really well against Newcastle 1-4-2 and then against yourselves at home.
00:03:47
Speaker
But we do have over the years, especially in the Premier League years so far, we do tend to have a good record against yourselves. So What's disappointed me, I guess, is the fact that we are not getting necessarily the results against most of the other top half teams. That's what's separating us.
00:04:05
Speaker
There's a little bit gap of a gap above us in the table and that big group of teams which Bournemouth are involved in. I'm glad to hear that because we are now in the top half. We weren't at the time yes when we played you, but we are now.
00:04:19
Speaker
Yeah, definitely. And I think there's so there's so many teams in that area of the table. and we've We've been about four four or five points now behind that group for quite some time. And we're just not getting the results. So we played Aston Villa last week. If we had beaten them, we would have been right on the back of that group and right on the back of Aston Villa.
00:04:37
Speaker
But We weren't able to do so. And I guess that's been the frustration.

Season Concerns for Brentford

00:04:41
Speaker
There's ah there's a risk at the moment of Brentford's season petering out, um particularly if we don't get anything again this weekend, um because we just won't be able to catch up to that group um and give ourselves a fight towards European places. So it'd be nice to get a win and see if we can get into that conversation. Otherwise, looks like the season might be petering out for us, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we we are where we are.
00:05:05
Speaker
You are where you are and we are where we are. I mean, it's it's funny how one game can cost you dropping three places below um on the table and seeing now, but you know, Bournemouth sitting at ninth position with 44 and then Newcastle and Man City ah being three, four positions above with only three points difference, which is just one win, basically.
00:05:28
Speaker
um It's mad, it's mad. And, you know, it it just shows how how close every every team is. is um you know, to to get to that European spot and all that. For Bournemouth, obviously, that would

Bournemouth's European Aspirations

00:05:41
Speaker
be a dream because we've never played Europe before. And ah we'd like to have an extra reason to go and travel.
00:05:47
Speaker
I'm not going to lie. With 29 destinations from Bournemouth Airport, I'm sure there will be some some flights available to one of the countries that hopefully Bournemouth will play ah in.
00:05:58
Speaker
um And hopefully in conference. i'm always saying I'm happy with conference. Champions League, Europa League might be a bit tough for us because we haven't got that score depth. But conference, we might be able to do something as well. I don't know.
00:06:11
Speaker
ah For now, we need to focus on Premier League, on on getting the next few games, getting as many points as we can. Obviously, Brentford, our record with you guys. wow Considering but last five games, you won three.
00:06:28
Speaker
um Two of them were draw. So we didn't win in the last five games against you. Right. um Last three, we've seen plenty of goals. um All of them, at least three goals in the game.
00:06:41
Speaker
The good thing, Bournemouth managed to score two goals away against you. And with the form this season, um I think we can score another two on Saturday. Maybe we can score another three.
00:06:54
Speaker
Playing in Vitality is not easy. And I've spoken to one of our players actually from Bournemouth and

VAR's Impact on Games

00:06:59
Speaker
he said that when he used to play for his old club and every time he would play away in Bournemouth, it would be scary.
00:07:07
Speaker
um Have you ever been to Vitality before? Yeah, so I was there last season um and it was really towards the end of the season last year. So it was a proper, it was a real sunny day.
00:07:18
Speaker
um it felt almost like a closed season friendly. I think both clubs didn't have much to play for at that point. um We had just mathematically secured um survival a week or two before.
00:07:32
Speaker
So it was it was fun. It was a fun afternoon. um i recall all three of the goals were in the last five or so minutes of the game. i think, yeah. Don't forget that we got, if we got again, our our goal is allowed by VAR.
00:07:45
Speaker
It happened because we were 1-0 up in the first half. Yes, earlier on. Yeah, earlier on. Yeah. So God knows how many. so Because it's funny, we were looking at ah me and my colleague, Dan,
00:07:58
Speaker
done um who is one of the other hosts for our daily UFC Bournemouth. ah We were looking at the stats and the table. Where would Bournemouth be sitting? In which position if there was no VAR overturned decisions? And guess what? We would have been third.
00:08:15
Speaker
not nine, we would have been third, but it seems like VAR is working more in favour of bigger teams. And I'm talking also about Brentford as well. Like if you were to play against Liverpool, Chelsea or chelszea Arsenal, you're more likely to get your your decision overturned and then and go ruled out.
00:08:32
Speaker
Am I right? Perhaps. I don't really like to buy these theories. I think you could fit find a narrative to fit a lot of things if you want it to. I think I don't think there's any referee or VAR who genuinely goes out there to try and influence the game in any wrong way. I think they're trying to make the right decisions. I think the issue is there is a lack of consistency.
00:08:58
Speaker
um There are certain decisions, like for example, last week against Aston Villa, there were two quite good shouts of Brentford penalties in that second half. And I suspect their decisions, if the referee on the pitch gives it, they stay given.
00:09:12
Speaker
But because VAR, for whatever reason, determined that it's not clear and obvious, they won't intervene. but i And then, like like I said, on another day, we could have had another referee who gives those penalties and we could come out of a 2-1 win. So I don't think there's any kind of bias or agenda, perhaps,
00:09:32
Speaker
if were if we're really going down that route, perhaps referees can be a bit intimidated if they're at, say, Anfield, for example. um But you would hope with the level of experience of a lot of the Premier League referees, a lot of them have been around for quite a few years now, you'd you'd hope.
00:09:48
Speaker
They wouldn't let something like that get to them. But, you know, who really knows subconsciously what, what you know, what impact that has on the referee? Do you think the VAR now, let's say over the last couple of years, has sort of...
00:10:03
Speaker
I'm not going say it changed, but has affected the referees' decisions and maybe made them a bit weaker to sort of make them rely more on the VAR rather than their own decisions.
00:10:16
Speaker
Yeah, I can see the argument for that. I think it might even be a subconscious thing, but maybe in the back of their mind, when De Sasse shoves Sharder over last last week in um the penalty era against Aston Villa, is the referee thinking, you know, ah could give that, but, you know, I'm not sure. I'm not quite sure.
00:10:35
Speaker
So I'm not going to make that decision. And then VAR looks at it and, you know, they probably agree that, you know, that could be a penalty, but they don't feel there's enough to intervene. And then maybe you get less of those given, um particularly, you know, maybe at a smaller stadium when there's, there might not be as much pressure on the referee to, to give it or or they feel that way anyway. So perhaps it shouldn't be the case. I think maybe it needs changing. I've heard some people say that there should be an appeal system.
00:11:05
Speaker
So say like, like tennis, when you get a challenge, yeah, a challenge, a call. Yeah. and And if you successfully challenge it and it shouldn't be judged on whether it's a clear and obvious error,
00:11:16
Speaker
It should just be judged on whether this is a penalty or whether it's not a penalty. um And obviously, if you if you if you're successful in the challenge, you keep that challenge. and Perhaps that's the way they should look to go forward in the future.
00:11:28
Speaker
um But I think ultimately, every any system that they end up adopting, if it does change, there will be people who, you know, criticise it and there will be wrong decisions every now and then. I think that's I'm afraid that's just how it's going to work, i think.
00:11:44
Speaker
Yeah, but now now I want to want to go back back to the part where you said that they feel less pressure in a smaller stadium. Does that mean, because Bournemouth has the smallest stadium in the in the Premier League, does that mean that this is the reason why we get so many decisions overturned, not in our favour?
00:12:02
Speaker
It's not Bournemouth in particular. I think, you know, Brentford, we're probably the second smallest stadium in the Premier League. It's not known necessarily to be a really intimidating place to go um so i just think perhaps i i would like to hope that that is not a factor at all and i don't think it should be for an experienced referee who's been doing this for years i don't think they should be influenced by outside things like that but you never know if there's a small percentage um that does subconsciously, you know, make them give a snap decision. These things happen quickly.
00:12:40
Speaker
um And sometimes it's very hard to be very, very sure. You can see how it's hard to be very, very sure um when the game's moving at pace, whether something is a penalty or not. And, you know, is there just that extra little percentage somewhere that,
00:12:53
Speaker
causes them to give it at at certain places over others. But yeah, I'm not usually one to go heavy on referee criticism. I do think sometimes you you you are on the on the receiving end of a bad decision. Sometimes it could go the other way.
00:13:07
Speaker
um you know, Bournemouth may have been, um like you say, bullied this season. If you take that over a 10 season average, you know, that there's probably other seasons where you may have benefit benefited from referee decisions. so Yeah, but that was before the VAR, maybe.
00:13:26
Speaker
How many of VAR decisions were correct, though? If a lot of them were correct, then... What can we really say? No. Well, yeah. But talking about correct. At the end of the day what is correct? what are you going to base the VAR decision on? it's we could We could record just just an episode talking about the VAR, right?

00:13:46
Speaker
I think the red card for, is it Zabani? I think that was harsh. I think that was harsh from what I remember. that There was no intention. there was his His foot slipped over the ball, rolled over the ball. There was no intention. We appealed.
00:14:00
Speaker
uh nothing we he got three games but then lewis kelly's challenge they appealed and they got one game ban so it only talks about how powerful the big clubs are right but we've had one return this season we had when norgo got sent off at um everton we had that overturned a few days later Which I was quite surprised about, actually.
00:14:21
Speaker
I didn't think they would overturn it, they did. Well, you're a card from London, so you can see there is a bit bigger club. i have Here we go. um Anyway, I wanted to talk about, just just to quickly mention the last game that we had against you. um Well, we lost 3-2.
00:14:36
Speaker
But before that, we do have to do a quick message around sponsors. So, listeners, dear listeners, stay tuned.

Right, so to quickly go through the last game where where you came from behind. B's came from behind. ah Yeah, we were we were we were twice um in the lead.
00:16:04
Speaker
And somehow, yeah, you managed to to get the most out of that game. And you go away all three points. yeah Have you been in the game? I think when our front four is on it, I think we can score goals against anyone. And that's Shard, Owissa, and Buma and Damsgaard in behind. I think Damsgaard, especially this season, has been so, so good. um He's...
00:16:30
Speaker
second or third in in the assist chart. He's really come out of nowhere compared to where he was last season. Obviously, everyone knows him for the Euros a few years ago. ah yeah. um He's had injuries. He had injuries immediately after that.
00:16:43
Speaker
Ended up signing for us. Took a while to get going. And now I think he's easily our best player this season. And with have the likes of Mbumo ahead of him and the likes of Wisser and even Sharder,
00:16:54
Speaker
you know, there's plenty of him to work off in terms of, um, setting Frido's forwards. I mean, in in terms of that game, Wissler scored a really good goal that day. um Brian and Primo probably scored as well. They tend to score together.
00:17:08
Speaker
Um, yeah, I remember there being a really good, um, dummy, I think from, that was from Dam's guard. Was it Dam's guard? And then, i vote yeah, so it was a Vista school too. And then Dam's guard scored one Yeah. Um,
00:17:24
Speaker
Mbemo had an assist and Janel had an assist as well. it was It was a good game and yes, you you were better. I mean, we we couldn't chase. You chased our score, you got it and and you won't.
00:17:38
Speaker
yeah You were just better on the day. And I think Brentford, um as I mentioned earlier, you were on a seven, i think it was your seventh game that that you were unbeaten at home.
00:17:48
Speaker
Yeah. And it was just, you know, when you when you go with that mentality to play against someone, it was the same like we were on 11-game run unbeaten.
00:18:00
Speaker
It was crazy and we could just beat anyone. We've beaten City, we've beaten Arsenal. ah We got the unlucky draw against Villa, you know. Yeah. So, and but, you know.
00:18:14
Speaker
Talking about now, and where we are now, and looking at the last season as well, ah where we were when we played each other, um you're only six points away from us. so Yeah, it feels like a bigger gap. I mean, we've been 11th, 4-12th for so long now.
00:18:32
Speaker
We've never really been in danger of of going down. So we've been quite comfortable. We've been beaten generally the teams below us and not doing so well generally against teams above us. um I think there's just so many teams in that conversation around where Bournemouth are.
00:18:48
Speaker
We've always been three or four points away, at least. And I think we need to really close that gap. You know, those teams win games quite often, which is why they're in the top eight or ten.
00:19:00
Speaker
um And we just haven't shown the consistency to really bridge that gap. So the gap has been that for quite a while. I think the reason we're only six behind you is probably because you've not won in the last few as well.
00:19:12
Speaker
um But yeah, it's ah it's that group in general what we're trying to chase down. And, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if we turned up on Saturday and got a good result, but I don't think ultimately we' we'll have the consistency to back that up when it comes to playing a lot of the other teams in and around that group, because we've got Newcastle next and then Chelsea after that. So we've got to play a lot of teams in that group now. And I just, I think we'll win the odd one, but I just don't think we'll have the consistency to really bridge that gap. But, you know, it,
00:19:45
Speaker
Like Bournemouth, we've never been in Europe before. you know We're similar sized clubs and it would be amazing for that to happen

Excitement for European Competition

00:19:54
Speaker
to Brentford. So you know if it happened to Bournemouth, I'd resonate with how you'd feel about that. and you know i'd be I'd be happy for ah club who don't usually get into Europe to do it because you know yeah Chelsea being in the Conference League this season is pretty pointless. that They'll probably win it.
00:20:13
Speaker
Their fans don't really care too much about being there, I'm assuming. Well, they like to win. So they're like, oh, yes, we won the Conference League. It doesn't matter that we're a club that could easily win the Champions League, maybe. But yeah, let let's just play. co Well, let's let's win what we can, right?
00:20:28
Speaker
Yeah, it's a good opportunity, isn't it? that That Conference League is a great opportunity for any mid-tenham Premier League side because whoever gets there from the Premier League well should be one of the strongest teams in that competition, and even if it is yeah someone like Bournemouth or Brentford. And the just the thought of being able to go on a journey like that and actually having a good chance of going deep into the tournament is, you know, something that didn't actually exist a few years ago.
00:20:55
Speaker
So it's... really really exciting to see obviously we've seen it with West Ham and I do think it will be beyond our reach this season but you know we go again next year I think it's a target of ours at some stage in the next few years I mean, we I was looking at the schedule as well. Bournemouth has, and we've got Ipswich, Fulham and West Ham.
00:21:18
Speaker
After playing the FA Cup against City, obviously we do have this international break in between where myself um will be travelling to Vienna towards the the Nations League match and of Austria versus Serbia.
00:21:30
Speaker
So that's going to be a fun experience um and I can't wait for it. And obviously upon my return, There's the City coming again. Can we beat them again? This is the question. We'd love to be able to to to see the Cherries playing in Wembley, you know, in in the in in the next stage. Why not?
00:21:50
Speaker
Why not? I mean, City's been, I can say, awful this season. Obviously, they dropped the points early and there's barely any chance for them to win the Premier League. ah Mathematically, probably, but we we know it's not going to happen. So...
00:22:06
Speaker
um Yeah, but the talking about you guys, I mean, you're still above Tottenham and Man Utd, which is, you know, which are two teams that have won, well, not Tottenham, but Man Utd have won Champions League in the past, have won the Europa League, you know, and they've got the history.
00:22:25
Speaker
Tottenham as a club, we've played in the last game, we were 2-0 up, we dropped three points there, I don't know how, and at the end, you know, um um we were lucky to get a draw as well because we just stopped playing and yeah, Tottenham wasn't a team that could beat us.
00:22:41
Speaker
um But on the other hand, you know, seeing that Bournemouth as a very small club, you know, dominating Tottenham in their stadium, it's pretty fascinating, isn't it?
00:22:54
Speaker
Yeah, definitely. I think um it's been good season for Brentford, but it could have been a better season. There's, there's, teams in the league, such as Forest, such as yourselves, who having a really, really good season. So I think we're having a good season. There's nothing wrong with it. with with You know, survival is always a first aim. We've been in no danger of ever looking over our shoulders.
00:23:17
Speaker
You were consistent. Since you came into Premier you were consistent. You were always somewhere mid-table, right? There was... barely ah even any danger. Like last season, okay. ah I think last season you were probably the closest to sort of get maybe relegated. We were never in it. We've never, ever finished a weekend in the relegation zone since since we got promoted because we beat Arsenal on the first day and we never looked back. So,
00:23:39
Speaker
yeah Yeah. Last season was the closest. We've never been in it. I think that's always a positive, particularly when you look nowadays, the teams coming up really struggling every year, um looking like they're going to go down again, the same three. So we can't. hear it yeah I mean, look, look at what happened to Luton. They haven't lost many players though, when they go relegated, but it seems like they're going to be relegated again now from championship to league one.
00:24:04
Speaker
What, what happened to Luton? Like it's, it's crazy. And, and, You know, the club that actually has beaten Bournemouth last season 2-1 near the end of the season to try and secure their stay.
00:24:18
Speaker
You know, look at them now. I mean, they it's so weird. It's so weird. ah But luckily, you know, both both of our teams are safe. So we we won't be looking into championship for the next season and we we won't be mentioning championship because we know we are safe now. Right.
00:24:34
Speaker
Yeah.

I believe if we score in the first half, we got the game. We got the game. If we let you score first...
00:26:18
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be a tough one. Yeah. I'd say from our side, we've got Evan Nilsson back. We needed him. We needed him so desperately. um And yeah, 100% he will start the game.
00:26:32
Speaker
Sinistera, slowly getting back. He's still coming on as a sub. ah But yeah, a great super sub for us anyway. um I'll start with our team prediction. Obviously, we'll probably play again with 4-2-3-1.
00:26:46
Speaker
We most of the time do play. um Christie's a question mark whether he'll play or not. um
00:26:56
Speaker
I'd say Kepa in goal, Kek is left, Hausson, Zabani is back. So Hausson and Zabani, centre-backs. James Hill will probably go on the right.
00:27:08
Speaker
ah Now, if Christie will be a question mark, then probably Cook and Adams will be playing in the middle. If Christie does play, I expect him to start with Lewis Cook and leave Adams on the bench.
00:27:23
Speaker
On the left, we'll probably see
00:27:28
Speaker
Tavernier. Yeah, I'll go for Tavernier, Kluivert in the middle, Semenya on the right, and Evan Nilsson up front. um And that will be our starting 11 for Saturday. And hopefully, yeah, hopefully...
00:27:44
Speaker
We'll get 3-1 win. I can't see keeping a clean sheet against you guys because Zembelmo is just lethal. Him and Wiesa are just lethal. If they both play, it's going to be tough to defend against them.
00:27:56
Speaker
um especially because Zabani hasn't played for the last three games. That doesn't mean that he's dropped out of form, but since we signed him, he's been so consistent that he's only... So from 69 games, he's played 68, and out of 68, he's been a starter on 67 games.
00:28:14
Speaker
um And this is the first three games that he hasn't played, and it's only because of the red card. Otherwise, he would have been there on the pitch. So... um Yeah, score prediction, three one to Bournemouth.
00:28:27
Speaker
I'd see Semenya scoring two and Evan Nilsson scoring one.
00:28:34
Speaker
And I won't do the prediction on the Brentford team. I'll leave that for you, my friend. All right. um I think in terms of Thomas Frank's style, i think it matches up quite well to Iriola's style. I think you...
00:28:48
Speaker
tell me if I'm wrong, but I think you guys generally like to hit teams on the break. You've got quite a dynamic front line as well, a little bit like us. I think we will be happy at times in the game, especially if you're having a lot of possession to sit back a little bit and try and counter you and maybe play you at your own game a little bit. And I think maybe that's also why we've had a bit of success against Bournemouth in the past. So,
00:29:12
Speaker
I think that will work to an extent. I also think Bournemouth are probably better than they've ever been um when we when we faced them before. So I'll go 1-0.
00:29:22
Speaker
I think it will be a close game. I think it could go either way. um I think we will play well, but I think we'll fall just short in terms of doing enough to really drag us into that European, um group of teams. So I'll go one, all, um, it's usually Whissaraw and Buma gets on the score sheet when Brokford score. Sharda does get a few as well.
00:29:46
Speaker
Um, Let's go with ah Brian and Boomer can be frustrating at times. I think at his best, he looks really good, but there are some games where he is just a bit quiet. um That's probably the difference.
00:30:00
Speaker
Yeah, that's probably the difference between him and someone like Salah at Liverpool. Salah doesn't need to play well, but then he'll just do something. Yeah, just just yeah one move and that's it. He's solved the game. I know. Yeah, sometimes Brian doesn't do that. He just doesn't really play well. Yeah.
00:30:14
Speaker
we we we can struggle creatively if they're not fully firing um that front four. But again, I think here, Bournemouth will want to attack. They'll want to take the game to us there at home.
00:30:27
Speaker
um i don't think you guys will be sitting back too much. So I think there will be spaces for that front four. So in terms of the team, Flecken will be in goal. Christopher Ayer will probably be at right back. He's more of a traditional centre-back, but with Aaron Hickey being out for it must almost be two years now, i only at least a year and a half.
00:30:49
Speaker
um Michael Coyote, who he signed in January, he's a right back, but he's injured out. He's injured at the moment as well. So Christopher, I has played most of the season at right back anyway, so he'll carry on at right back.
00:31:02
Speaker
Nathan Collins has been our best defender this season. He'll, he'll play at centre back. Pinnock's been playing alongside him and Pinnock's been so good for Brentford for so long, but I think now he's showing signs of slowing down a little bit.
00:31:15
Speaker
So if Vandenberg's fit and he's back in training this week, I would probably bring Vandenberg back in instead of Pinnock alongside Collins. And Vandenberg did have a run in the team alongside Collins before Pinnock.
00:31:28
Speaker
Um, came back into the side and when Pinnock got injured. So I would go Collins Vandenberg, the centre backs. Left back would be Keane Lewis Potter. Again, traditionally an attacking player, but has done so well at left back this season.
00:31:41
Speaker
I'm actually convinced he's a left back now. Like he's done so well. We had the same thing with Dango. where Dango, Tara and Kirk was injured for few games and we had no one to play on the left and Dango as a winger.
00:31:52
Speaker
um played as a left back oh man how good he was it was crazy and i was i was worried when kirkus comes back who's gonna play because he is so good you know he's done so well obviously we've seen dango that can play a winger a striker when he's called two hard tricks as ah is a strike like crazy crazy That was crazy. We've always had Rico Henry um for an oh yeah many years now. Again, he's been injured for the most part of well over a year now. He yeah he did come back very briefly um and he's now meant to be training again, but he's not going to be ready to start start games just yet. So...
00:32:30
Speaker
Keane Lewis Potter, yeah, he's been great at left back. If I'd give him ah weakness to his game going forwards, normally he's not quite clinical enough in front of goal. So he's almost better suited to left back than he is at left wing sometimes. So yeah, he's done really well there to get ah a place in the team and he's played nearly every game as well. So that's the back four and the keeper nor guard will be the number six we're much better always with him in the side he's a captain he just you know you won't really notice him but he'll just do all the all all the little bits and sweeping bits yeah there's the sweeping bits vitalian now will probably be alongside him i quite like it when they play jensen alongside him i think jensen
00:33:11
Speaker
is more creative from deeper positions. Vitaly, you know, is probably a bit more like Norgaard when Norgaard's injured, you know, it would kind of play that role. So, um, as a, as a defensive two,
00:33:25
Speaker
Norgard and Yannelt but I quite like it when Jensen comes in for Yannelt I think it will be Yannelt but I'd quite like to see Jensen in that um deeper position to be more more creative from a deeper area just ahead of them will be Mikael Damsgaard he's got pretty much a free role he kind of He's all over the pitch and I think so many games this season he's been our best player.
00:33:48
Speaker
Like a roaming central attacking mid, you'd say. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He'll be everywhere and nearly every game this season he's been our best player and and everything good we do normally goes through him.
00:34:01
Speaker
was a little bit quiet last week, which is rare for him. So I'm hoping he'll be back to top form this weekend and then the front three. Maybe next weekend. Yeah.
00:34:13
Speaker
And then the front three, Brian Mbumo, Kevin Sharder and Yohan Wisser. Obviously everyone knows about Mbumo and Wisser. Kevin Sharder's growing. is' He's still a young player, but in terms of His raw talent, he's quick. he's He's shown some good potential. Yeah, he's quick. He's quite good. yeahlights and Yeah, he's got a very quick step.
00:34:32
Speaker
You can tell in a few years' time. You can tell he's got everything he needs to become really, really good in terms of his height, his pace, his strength. He just needs to refine that and he needs to just become more and more consistent. But I think he has been quite good in recent weeks.
00:34:46
Speaker
um And that front three when they're on it um can be really, really good. the ah The only thing I would say is, We don't really have any depth on the bench at the moment. So Jensen will probably be on the bench um as a more creative midfielder as well. But aside from that, we haven't got many options. It will be a lot of youngsters and B-team players. Unfortunately, the likes of Igor Thiago, who is the Ivan Toni replacement, is not around at the moment.
00:35:11
Speaker
ah Gustavo Nunes is another young winger we've never seen yet. The likes of Josh De Silva at Brentford, who has been in the past past, but we've not seen him in a while. Unfortunately, we do have a lot of little injuries in the team. Fabio Carvalho now as well, who was the only attacker we had on the bench, is injured. But I mean, if he because he he used to play the same position that Damsgaard now is playing, because Damsgaard was more a winger.
00:35:37
Speaker
Yeah, Damsgaard's always been better in the middle, I think. Carvalho was only signed in the summer, so has been a bit unfortunate to find himself behind Damsgaard in the form he's turned up in this season. um But he was the only attacking option on the bench. if If it wasn't quite working and if we need to change it up, he's the only obvious senior attacking option we could bring on to to do that. yeah Until Thiago comes back and until we get a few others back,
00:36:07
Speaker
I think we do struggle to change the game from the bench. So we've got to hope that, you know, things go quite well from the start and that we we don't need to change it from the bench too much.
00:36:19
Speaker
Right. And just before we go, your star player on Saturday?

Closing Remarks

00:36:25
Speaker
Mikhail Damsgaard. He's everywhere. Damsgaard. Right. And I'll go for Semenyo. I think Semenyo will get his confidence back in this game.
00:36:34
Speaker
by scoring two goals and being becoming the man of the match. um And on that note, I think I'd like to finish this episode. um Thanks so much, Daniel, for joining me today. um It's been great. It's been a pleasure hosting you.
