00:00:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Hoping to be in Wembley for the next game. Let's see. um We will be um talking about some of the players from from our club that were actually involved in some of the international games over the past couple of weeks.

Sponsorship and Historical Context

00:01:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
a potentially historic two months await
00:01:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
We are at the moment just five points outside of the Premier League top four. um We have a quarterfinal to play and to look forward to this weekend. um And it's actually fun, fun stat that this is only the third time that the Cherries have reached quarterfinals.
00:02:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
um The first one was back in the then 2020, season 20, 2021. then twenty twenty ah season twenty twenty twenty one um well We played Southampton and lost. and the um yeah but Some people could say third luck.
00:02:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Will this be the third luck? Hopefully, yes.

City's Performance and Strategy

00:02:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
um City, their form this season, i mean it's been up and down, up and down. We don't know what to expect.
00:02:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously, they haven't performed well in the Premier League and they're way, way too far from winning the title this season. Potentially, this might mean the They have to take whatever they can.
00:02:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I wouldn't be surprised to see the full starting XI, the full squad playing um against us tomorrow. um We, against the big clubs, usually we we are underdogs.
00:03:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Small club, obviously, ah punching above our weight. um Iriola looking confident, seems confident. um Back in November, we did play City in the Premier League and we we we did beat City 2-1 in vitality. We are yet to play away game against City um later this season.
00:03:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So we'll see how that that will will end.
00:03:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Before we won against City, City was on a 21-match winless head-to-head streak. So um we we never, we never, well, in the last 21 games before that, we we we haven't won against City.
00:04:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
We drew twice and we lost 19 games. So that was quite a turnaround. And I really hope that the players from Bournemouth will come out with the same mentality tomorrow on the pitch. And...
00:04:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
try to get that that that spot in Wembley.
00:04:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Despite our heroics, right, I have to say that this is not an easy task. We still can fight for Europe. we I believe we should just take every game as it comes and just try to to get whatever we can.
00:04:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
um There is no separation of trying to focus on either the cup or either trying to get to Europe. ah Many things can happen in the summer. We can lose some players. um Potentially coach as well. Hopefully not There are speculations that Irohola might go to Tottenham.
00:05:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But why would you go from a good club to a worse club? I don't see the point. Tottenham is way below us on the table.

Manager Iriola and Match Evaluation

00:05:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Doesn't mean they're going to be the same next season, but... Irelia has built something, some some special connection with Bournemouth as a club and with our fans as well.
00:05:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's We just love him. We just love him. And we don't want to see him going. i Every game, we do sing on the stadium. so We want you for another 10 years at least.
00:05:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, you can see Irelia smiling when he hears that. So...
00:05:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
I believe we we potentially we could do both. um Because if we win against City tomorrow, I believe we can go all the way to the finals. Why not?
00:05:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Probably City is, let's say, one of the best teams now that has left in the FA Cup. So there's a lot on stake for tomorrow.
00:06:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
And and we We just have to try and play the game that we played back in November against them.
00:06:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, because last year's f FA Cup competition, United it has won and they've beaten City actually in the finals. um And that would be really funny because um if we beat them now, we might get to see United later in the Cup.
00:06:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it would be great to beat United again because we've beaten them the last two games, three knee and 3-0. And we are yet to play them in vitality, which can be potentially another 3-0.
00:06:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, why not?
00:06:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Another bad stat that could sound bad for Bournemouth, the city um City last time lost in the quarter-finals over 10 years ago and their formidable waveform in this competition suggests they're unlikely to slip up here.
00:07:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:07:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not since February 2018 have Guardiola's side lost on the road and the FA Cup winning each of their last 14 away ties while scoring over 40 goals in the process. and I can see loads of goals tomorrow.
00:07:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
It will be probably over four goals in the game. um
00:07:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I can see the game ending in the in the regular 90. I can't see them going on extra time. um The match will be decided in the 90 minutes.

Key Players and International Performances

00:07:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Some players to watch for tomorrow. Now, if Bournemouth is obviously with Evan Nilsson back in the front and um some of the previously injured players and carded players, that should look good.
00:08:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Evan Nilsson did score against the Wolves in the Cup game. That was one of his first games after the injury, which was great boost for his confidence.
00:08:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
And um he also scored decisively in the most recent head-to-head game. On the other side, for City, I think De Bruyne is going to be a player to watch if he if he steps onto the pitch tomorrow.
00:08:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
um He's had... 13 direct goal contributions across his last 10 FA Cup matches. Three goals and 10 assists.
00:08:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And um in the fifth round, when City kicked Plymouth out, we've seen De Bruyne scoring and assisting. So, yes, he's getting older and he was struggling with injuries in the past couple of years, but he's still a great player.
00:08:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
And class is permanent. Hot start, Bournemouth's last five FA Cup home games have averaged four total goal total goals in match. So, the thing that I said about a minute ago, I can see this game ending with four or more goals and not going on extra time.
00:09:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, time for a quick break, message from our sponsors, and we'll be back to talk a bit more about tomorrow's match.
00:10:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right. Back to talk about some of our individual players um that have performed for their national teams during this international break. We've seen Halston debuting for making a debut for Spain, actually. We all know that he's half Spanish, half Dutch.
00:10:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it was just a matter of time who is going to get to him first. And... Another funny thing that actually this weekend in the Nations League game, Spain was playing against Netherlands. So Hausson got the opportunity to make his debut against the team that he could potentially have played for.
00:11:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
And in the first game, we've seen him playing half of the game, 50 minutes, got carded. The second game that went on extra time, um the Spain went through on penalties. He's actually had an assist during the game, which was great. 19-year-old, come on, people. What else do we want from this guy?
00:11:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Hausson is an amazing prospect. Hopefully, we won't lose him this summer. And I'd love to see more from him. um in the next season as well.
00:11:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
um On the other side, his opponent, Justin Kluivert, who's had amazing seasons so far for Bournemouth. um I couldn't see Justin playing anywhere else and with the same pace that he's playing for Bournemouth.
00:12:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's just our star player, we have to admit it. um He's netted an assist against Spain in the first game. um He's played 78 minutes in the second game, no assists, no goals.
00:12:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it was a solid another solid performance for him. um Our African players, Dango, ah both games. He played for Burkina Faso in both games. He had one assist um each game.
00:12:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's great. Great to see our players performing well. Semenyo in two games for Ghana, um which Ghana have won and 3-0. Semenyo has scored the opening goal against Chad in the 5-0 win.
00:12:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bruxy scored against North Macedonia, even though he only played 16 minutes. So he he went onto the pitch in the 75th and scored in the 96th.
00:13:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Great to see and managed to get a draw for Wales in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2026.
00:13:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:13:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Unfortunately, our midfields Dynamo from America, um Tyler Adams' um national team have lost both of the games. His performance was okay again. ah Didn't score, didn't assist, but we we rarely see him doing that in Bournemouth as well. He's just everywhere.
00:13:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
You don't see him, but he's everywhere. um and I don't think I could put it in any other way. about Tyler Adams, underrated player. We should talk a lot more about him and his contribution for the Cherries.
00:13:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Kerkers, Hungary, unfortunately, lost both of the games against Turkey, 3-1 and 3-0. We've seen Kerkers playing both games, 90 minutes.
00:14:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah No goals, no assists, no cards either, which is good. um And our centre-back, Cem. Ilya Zabani, who's the type of the person that you cannot hate, right?
00:14:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
His presence, his face, his play style. You just got to love him. And I'm glad that he managed to score against Belgium in the first game, actually.
00:14:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that was actually the game where where Ukraine has won against Belgium 3-1 in the first one. And in the in the rematch, Belgium has won 3-0, where Zabani got carded.
00:14:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
um And we've seen Belgium scoring three goals in the last 20 minutes of the game. Same what Bournemouth usually does. um Unfortunately, yes, Ukraine, his Ukraine got relegated to the Nations League B. And, well, Belgium stayed in A. It's time for another quick word from our sponsors. And we'll be back to do the team and the score prediction for our game.
00:15:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
tomorrow against Citi. Stay tuned.

Predictions and Upcoming Fixtures

00:16:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, time for our team and score predictions. um oh
00:16:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he's got to be classic starting 11. If everything is okay with Christy tomorrow, Christy is going to be our number 10. um along with with Adams in the midfield. um We'll see the back four.
00:16:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Zabani is Kerkers, Cook on the right. Obviously, Kepa Ingle. The front three central attacking midfielders slash wingers.
00:16:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Probably Semenya on the left.
00:16:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Dango on the right. um Or Semenya on the right, Dango on the left. Kluivert in the middle. And up front, Evan Nilsson. um we're still not expecting anyone back from their injuries. um We still got four players out, Senesi, Araujo, Smith and Uñal, although Senesi did start training with with the team.
00:17:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
So um even though Senesi was to come back, I really wouldn't know who to put to play first. I mean, Hausson and Zabani have been great, great centre-back pair this season. um Seeing Bournemouth conceding only 36 goals this season.
00:17:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
um That's another fun stat because not many teams have conceded less goals than Bournemouth. It's actually only a few teams.
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Palace 33, Forest 35. four is thirty five And obviously top two, Arsenal and Liverpool with under 30 goals conceded. So Bournemouth is in top five um by the the most conceded goals this season as well, which tells a great story about our defence, right?
00:17:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
um We won't do the team prediction on the City because whoever you put, they're going to be strong. So they are better on the paper. They might have better intentions of getting all getting the win tomorrow, but that doesn't mean anything.
00:18:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
They came with the same intention back in November and we beaten them 2-1. So anything can happen.
00:18:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
um be positive, stay positive, as I always am. And I'll see Bournemouth winning this game tomorrow by 3-2. 3-2 in regular time.
00:18:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Evan Nilsson scoring two and Semenya scoring one goal while we're seeing Kirkers getting an assist again. Why not? He got two last last time we played City. So another one on the sheet. Why not?
00:18:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Kerkers has actually um had five assists so far this season, which which is amazing for a left back. Great contribution to the team. And again, hopefully he will stay in Bournemouth and won't leave us in the summer.
00:19:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Luckily, we had this period, the international break for our play some of our players to rest, obviously the ones that weren't involved in the national games. um But we do have to also look on the schedule ahead because already on Wednesday we are playing Ipswich again in Vitality and then on Saturday going away against West Ham. So we are talking about three games in in the next seven days, which will be quite tough for Bournemouth.
00:19:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopefully... We'll get a win tomorrow. We'll get a win against Ipswich and I'm happy with the draw against West Ham as long as we can still fight for that European spot. Yes, why not?
00:19:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, just to reminisce and remind our listeners, um at the moment on standings, Bournemouth sits on the 10th position with 44 points, 29 games ah played, which means that there's only 9 games left until the end of the season. But, we are only three points away from the first spot that leads to the European competition. Because at the moment, Newcastle sits in the sixth position with 47 points.
00:20:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
um They do have a game in hand, which have to play against the Crystal Palace, because Crystal Palace has played 28

Premier League Standings Discussion

00:20:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
games as well. And this only tells how how how close everything is. like um Between the fourth place Chelsea, who's got 49 points,
00:20:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
And 12-placed Crystal Palace, who's got 39 points. We're talking about nine teams, so eight positions in total, and only 10 points difference between the top one and the bottom one. It's it's crazy.
00:20:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, even United and Tottenham, if they manage to beat everyone until the annual season, could potentially get to Europe. um But hopefully not. Hopefully not. And...
00:21:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopefully... We'll get to Wembley tomorrow. Right? Thank you so much for listening. ah Hopefully, see you all tomorrow. And after cherries.
