Hello and welcome to Breast and Plant Illness Hope for Healing. This is Cecily Henderson, your host. Thank you for joining me today.

Recap of Last Interview

00:00:11
Speaker
Last week, I interviewed Lisa Haskins-Pearson and her incredible story of how she is fighting for her life, pleading with doctors to diagnose her BIA-ALCL breast implant cancer. She is an amazing BI advocate and I truly feel blessed to be able to partner with her.

Podcast Rebranding Discussion

00:00:34
Speaker
I recently announced the name change because we wanted to focus on hope in breast implant illness healing.

Societal Challenges of Breast Implant Illness

00:00:42
Speaker
The world is so negative right now, and women with breast implant illness are labeled as hypochondriacs. We are shunned, ignored, and disregarded as we suffer in silence.

Story of Mother Cabrini

00:00:57
Speaker
Last Sunday, I watched an inspiring movie on Angel Studios, The Story of Mother Cabrini. I just absolutely loved this movie. She was a nun who started building missions in Italy for orphans. Her philanthropy reached the Pope and she petitioned him to let her go to America and help Italian immigrants. She arrived in New York and was immediately met with discrimination. No one would help her.

Speaker
As she walked the streets of Manhattan, she saw the impoverished and hopeless immigrants. Families were separated and parents dying. Their young children left to fend for themselves, living in rat-infested sewers and eventually prostitution homes. Mother Cabrini saw this terrible circumstance and fought for the abandoned children, building orphanages and hospitals, bringing hope,

love, and meaning into the lives of the community. People tried to stop her. Her orphanage was fined outrageous amounts of money. She and the children were forced to move three times. They burned her home at night while she was inside, arrested her, and told her she would never make it.

Speaker
One thing that spoke to my heart is that Mother Cabrini was a very frail and physically weak woman. She had almost drowned as a young girl, but her tenacious spirit and courage to never give up was always strong. Despite being told the impossibilities, she was able to overcome all obstacles that were placed in front of her. Even when her young self was told she only had two years

and against all odds, she lived until 67 years of age, founding one of the largest empires for poverty and suffering, accomplishing incredible deeds across three continents.

Empowerment and Health Advocacy

00:03:06
Speaker
One woman can make a difference. We need to be the Cabrini's of today.
00:03:14
Speaker
Those of you with breast implant illness who are sick, suffering and persecuted can stand up and fight for your health rights. You can make it. Do not give up. I was paralyzed for seven years and thought I would never walk again. And now I am running.
00:03:38
Speaker
This is the reason we put hope in the name. To stand up for each other and bring hope and light into each person's life. There are people trying to stop us, but we will never give up.

Announcement of Advocacy March

00:03:52
Speaker
All of us have endured many things, and we hope to endure all things that are placed in front of us, overcoming all obstacles no matter the fires we must walk through. We will do it together.

Integrative Hope for Healing just announced our Freedom for Diagnosis March on the Capitol in Austin, Texas next year. We chose the month of March because it is Breast Implant Illness and Women's History Month. Stand with us as we petition for an ICD-11 code so doctors can diagnose breast implant illness and women can get the medical care they desperately need.

Next week, I will be interviewing the tenacious BI advocate that has been spreading awareness all over Austin. Her advocacy has been featured with KView's investigative news reporter, Jenny Lee, and I'm excited for you to hear her BI story of severe depression and how she is spreading the word now about breast implant illness.
