Anticipation for Disney Marathon Weekend

00:00:22
Speaker
Hey there, friends. Happy Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend to those who celebrate. This is episode 28 and I am so excited, Erica, because it is marathon weekend. Yes. Finally, we started this podcast on the day we started training for this race. Yes. And so release date Wednesday, which means most folks are probably already here slash there because we're recording in the past. Right. So we're not headed down till Thursday, unfortunately. But if you're already there and you've already been to the expo and you've already cleaned out all the merchandise, save something for us. We're all We're on our way. Erica, any thoughts on marathon weekend or anything as we head into it before we dive into kind of quick housekeeping and then this episode? Any thoughts on marathon? Absolutely. If you happen to see us, please feel free to come say hi. Like AJ said, we are not looking to be famous. We just want to encourage you in person and um and just meet you face to face. So please come say hi if you see us. Yep, absolutely. and The goal of the podcast, as you know, because I say it all the time, is basically to be helpful, right? to help you feel confident, and prepared, inspired, all the things. um And hopefully that's you right now. If you've listened or you've been with us from the beginning or even the last, but you know, bat bar what was I saying? Batch, batch of episodes. Hopefully you feel ready for

Inspiration and Behind-the-Scenes Insights

this. I will say you're supposed to feel nervous. Like that's okay. Yeah.
00:01:42
Speaker
We all do. Totally normal. We've done a million races. You still feel nervous. You still feel like you forgot something. But we've tried at least over the last 28, well, 27, this is 28 episodes to help you calm as much as we can. Right. But those those little butterfly jitters are normal. Oh, absolutely. and honestly, a good thing. You know what to mean? Because then you'll you know you'll go out and you'll focus and prepare and you'll do your best. That's right. um And so, yeah, that's the goal of the podcast. But today's going be a little different. Today, we're going to take a look back. Awesome. Kind of why we do

Listener Feedback and Family Support

00:02:12
Speaker
this. Yep.
00:02:12
Speaker
Right. You're going to learn a little bit of that kind of stuff. So this is going to be less, here's how to, you know, here's the running gear we use and here's how the run Disney transportation works. That's what we do every week, all the time. And we we're glad you find it helpful. We're going take a little peek behind the curtain. And if you enjoy that you know kind of behind-the-scenes-ish vibe or whatever, then stick around because that's what we're doing today. so If you don't like that kind of thing, this was the shortest episode you've ever listened to. ahead and log off. We'll catch you next week for a marathon recap. Okay, so Erica, normally I ask you to read a review yeah from Apple Podcasts, but you couldn't get through this one. No. No, I'm not. So I'm going to read it. Yes. And it's an email from a new friend, Rachel, who we hope to meet in person at Marathon Weekend this week. Right. So she sent this email several weeks back. It meant a lot to us. And we've emailed back and forth and whatever. I asked her if we could share it on the podcast because it's exactly why we do this. Yeah. Anyway, read her email.
00:03:04
Speaker
Okay. and I'd love your your thoughts on why you think this lands exactly. Yeah. I mean, this is exactly why we do the podcast. So I'll read it. I'd love your thoughts on it. Hi, AJ and Erica. First, I want to say a huge thank you for creating your podcast. I'm training for my first marathon at Walt Disney World, and it's been so, so difficult. Oh my gosh, I'm tearing up, Erica. I'm serious. I've had a series of bad long runs and was getting to the point where I felt like I wasn't going to be able to do this. But then I found your podcast through Rope Drop on Deck. And after listening to a few episodes, especially number 18, I was so hyped up to get back out there.
00:03:40
Speaker
Today, I ran 15 miles, my longest distance ever, while listening to your podcast and felt amazing. I'm feeling more confident that I can do this and I can turn this training around before marathon weekend. Thank you so much for your help, for your helpful tips and positive energy. And then she sent us another message when she hit 20 miles. Yes. Rachel, we ah were so excited when you emailed us this. We are so excited for you. We are excited that you have pushed through. this is the whole reason why we do this podcast, because we know that running is hard, um no matter the distance. And we just want to do whatever we can to encourage you and and everyone who listens to this podcast to Um, we want to you know, share what we've learned so that hopefully it takes a little bit of stress

Making Disney Races Fun and Stress-Free

00:04:26
Speaker
off of you. Um, if we can be a small part in someone's story, like Rachel's, yeah then we're doing our job right. Right. Okay. We'll get back to Apple podcast reviews in in the future, but thank you for sending us that message. And if you've sent us a message or you've sent us a DM or anything like that, just know that we're super encouraged by that. Yes. Thank you. And we really, genuinely love it. I mean, we usually sit together and read them. Yes. Erica, did you see this one? Look what so-and-so said. Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Usually I'm crying. know. He's like making fun of me. Although I just got a little teared up reading that one and I've already read it before. so Yeah. I tried to read it like four times and I couldn't get through because it resonates so much with me right now. I had to do it. Yes. Oh my gosh.
00:05:06
Speaker
um Another thank you is to our family. That's right. I want to just slip this in on the podcast really fast. yes Our family makes it possible for us not just to do this podcast, but like be couldn't yeah they

Podcast Format and Personal Connections

00:05:17
Speaker
believe in us and all that. But because every race weekend, your parents or my parents or combination of both our parents help us with our kids and our house and our dog and checking the mail and all the things. yes and And so I just wanted to like publicly say thank you, even though we tell them thank you all the time. we know how blessed and fortunate we are to have a support system. yeah And yeah know that's been incredibly important. And so mom and dad. Thank you.
00:05:40
Speaker
Thank you. Thank you. We we really appreciate y'all's support. yeah Okay. So let's dive into a little bit behind the scenes, Erica, and kind of the podcast and what we do and why we do yada, yada, yada. So let's just start off with ah why we do this podcast. We kind of have like a, i don't know, like a statement. You know, you hear all the time when I say, hey, the goal of our podcast is yeah I say it all the time. whether but What's like that official thing we came up with, Erica, seven or eight months ago before you know when we started this thing? Yeah, totally. so The heartbeat of our podcast is just dedicated to helping runners, especially those training for a run Disney race. We just want you to feel confident and prepared and inspired for your next magical race adventure.
00:06:17
Speaker
Exactly. And the like deep why behind that is that we understand how hard like all of this is, right? So we want to encourage and inspire you to do things you didn't think you could possibly do. Absolutely. you've never walked three miles, we understand that the idea of running a five k Seems impossible, right? yeah And so yes, there are people out there doing marathons and ultras and all of these things or whatever, but whatever it is for you that is like impossible seems way too whatever. We want to be a small part of helping you get to that thing. We kind of have like this controlling idea, you know, like we run all our

Training Reflections and Podcast Challenges

00:06:55
Speaker
decisions and everything yeah through this controlling idea. And that is that training for and and running a run Disney race should be fun and not stressful like that. Like every time we talk about something or whatever, like this is supposed to be magical, right? supposed to enjoy it now. That doesn't mean it's not hard. Right. That just means you're supposed that you're supposed to get, I guess, joy yeah out of it. Right? Like, even if it is difficult. And so, like, for us, we just want you to be able to have this podcast where you get practical tips, things that are like, actually helpful, like,
00:07:25
Speaker
We can laugh about the things. Erica can cry about a few things. That's right. You know, that you can feel inspired um because it's not supposed to be miserable. Remember in middle school and high school, Erica, you'd have to go run and it was punishment. Yes. Right? Like that's not what run Disney's supposed to be. Right. No. Like it's supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Yeah. And so we're trying to remove some of those barriers for you.
00:07:47
Speaker
Like that's kind of kind of the controlling idea. Anything else on the why? Erica, I would love to know, you know, why you love doing this so much, like helping others, but anything else on like our, whatever, controlling idea or deep why or anything? No. Okay. So why, why do you love helping others so much? Cause that's kind of what this whole thing is about, right? yeah Is we could just go train for our own races, right? And we have for years. We have for years, right? And now we've decided, you know, like, let's at at least share what we know to help yeah help people and not feel stressed out, all that. Why do you love doing it? Yeah. Well, like AJ and I shared in episode 18, we talked about Enneagram numbers. I'm a two. So my nature really is to encourage or help people. um I would say that it brings me so much joy to see someone succeed, yeah um especially in something they didn't think they'd be able to do. Like we talked about 5K, 10K, half full, whatever. It doesn't matter. um If we can help in any way at any time, like I will do it. um It should not be about us. It should be about those around us that we love and and how can we help them. Yeah. And the reality is there's going be people we never meet.
00:08:47
Speaker
Yeah. And that's a bummer. Right. But there'd be people who would just, you know, our pilot our paths won't cross. Yes. But I will still ah be encouraging you as if I knew you, I will cry for you as if I knew you. That's right. Yes. That's right. Yeah, totally. i would say the the reason I love kind of like sharing what we know so much is because my first run Disney race, and I've shared this before, I didn't know anything. Yeah. Right. And I think I didn't have as great of experience as I could have. Like I missed a lot. Yeah. Because I just was too focused on trying to survive or or I had my head down a little too much or whatever. Like once I figured out all the things, I loved to run Disney more. Does that make sense? And so if we can help people figure that stuff out faster yeah than I
00:09:31
Speaker
figured it out, yeah then that would be good. I've told the stories, right? Like I didn't even know on that first princess weekend we did, didn't know there was a challenge, right? right it's Like we got to the end of the race and they said, challenge runners to the left. I said, what the heck is a challenge runner? And then i that's when we discovered, I learned that at that moment, I'm like, oh my gosh, you can do more than one race and you get more medals. We should do that. yes yeah And so we're just, you know, I love sharing stuff so that you know that things like that exist. Yes.
00:09:58
Speaker
ah Something that we never talked about on our own podcast right is where the name came from. Yes. Right? So One More Run the podcast. Yeah. Where did that name came from came from come from? We shared it on the Rise and Run podcast when they had us on as guests and you shared it like the short version. Yeah. Can you tell the story where that came from and why it means what it means? Yeah, absolutely. So one time AJ and were out on a run together and I was doing my run, walk, run intervals, and I was really tired. And I told AJ, I just have one more run, like one more running segment. yeah
00:10:30
Speaker
And the thing that's great about this, this phrase, one more run is that um it means totally different things to us. yeah We both love running, but in different ways, usually most of the time. Usually by the end of a long run, I'm thinking I only have one more run to do. Thank goodness. And you're like, let's do another run. Let's do one more run segment. yeah And so ah it's great for us. it It captures our running personalities perfectly. And um I love the idea that even though we are different types of runners, like we both still love running and and this this covers all the bases.
00:11:05
Speaker
Are you happy with the name choice? Yes. You're good with it now? Yes. I think it's very Run Disney. Run Disney is for everybody. This podcast is for everybody. Yeah. Sometimes I use it to help motivate myself. Kind of even like you were like, oh my gosh, I just have one more run. And then other times like, all

Impact on Listeners and Future Show Plans

00:11:22
Speaker
right, one more. We need to do another one. It does depend on the day for me. Sometimes it means something different. Yes.
00:11:29
Speaker
um How about the format of the show, Erica? I guess when I say format, I mean like we chose to do a podcast. There's a bunch of different things we could have done. We could have had YouTube channel where we did you know designed the whole thing around being a YouTube channel yeah or Instagram or TikTok or whatever. like The formatting is different. Now, I will say we take the podcast format and we share it on other platforms, but it's not like designed specifically for it. Why did we why did we choose that or what what what thoughts do you have on why we we went that way?
00:11:59
Speaker
Yeah, I would say that the podcast format works great for us because we can be ourselves in a longer, more casual format. yeah We've been friends first for 26 years now, is that correct? And so I think like- And were friends before we got married, what you're saying, or before we started dating. We've been in each other's lives for 26 years. Before found you smoking hot, Well, no, that's not true because found you smoking hot from the beginning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you know, we were friends first. Goodness gracious. Anyway, on that note, um people love our banter. So what you hear or see on the podcast is is who we are in real life. Oh, 100%. think it works well. Yeah, the podcast format, the fact that it is an hour long and people might be doing something else while they're listening, they don't have to just stare at us. Yeah, no, you no one wants to do that. No, like i that I think is what works for us, why we ended up why we ended up choosing it. I wanted people to be able to listen to it while they they do something else, specifically while they run. Yeah. Right? So we're a running podcasts. While you're out there thinking about Disney stuff, we're talking about Disney stuff. Yes. It's real hard to run and watch a YouTube video, I think. I mean, you could on the treadmill or whatever. um But again, like this just allows us to just chat. Yeah. Yeah. And, and you can just listen. And if you want to fast forward, cause this topic part isn't for you or you already know this part, that's fine. Yeah. know, it doesn't hurt our feelings. So I liked it. We can go along on a run yeah with people.
00:13:19
Speaker
Totally. What else? um I would say we might have a smaller audience, but everyone is more invested and engaged. So we don't need to be famous. We just want to be helpful in whatever small way that we can. That's right. It's harder to grow. I don't know if anybody knows this. It's harder to grow a podcast than it is other formats, right? ah You don't, you know, the view counts and the algorithms whatever, it's just different. And people, they they have to care yes to give you an hour of their time yeah and then an hour next week and then another hour of the next week. that People really do have to care. yeah And that is exactly why we went podcast route. I wanted people to feel like we cared because we do. Yes, right. And for them, i know they care because they're giving us that amount of time. Right. It's not just a a thumb scroll, excuse me, of a scroll on the phone. Right. Does that

Excitement for Upcoming Disney Races

00:14:05
Speaker
make sense? Yeah, totally. You have to actively, and we don't come up in whatever you call it, like ah you ah search results necessarily. You have to like...
00:14:11
Speaker
commit to a podcast if you're going to listen to it. yeah And so for me, that I like that. Everybody knows this. like The YouTube and the Instagram stuff and whatever are amazing tools and platforms or whatever, but there's a lot of work that goes into that. yeah And we already have pretty busy lives. Yes, we do. And we're training, by the way, for a marathon. you know yeah So like a lot of that like is dependent on how good is the hook in the beginning and what's your retention rate. And the algorithm is only going to push your video if you get certain number of yada yadas and all that. Yes, yes. And we post the podcast or whatever clips on YouTube.
00:14:44
Speaker
And if it gets 10 views or 10,000, it doesn't matter to me. If it was helpful for the 10 people that saw it, that's enough. That's it. Right. yeah That's not to say that podcasting is easier than YouTube or Instagram or anything like that. Like, and this isn't a complaint. This is hard. Yes. You know, you know, creating good quality content, the technical stuff. and we're going to about that in a minute. It's not like we chose the easier route. I think we chose the harder route. Yes. You know, it was an uphill battle. Get someone to commit to subscribing and listening all that, you know, it it's all it's a lot harder than...
00:15:14
Speaker
a short in my opinion yeah i'm probably gonna get some backlash for that one people who make shorts sorry okay let's talk about our guests yes erica we've had some guests on this season i don't know the exact number off the top of my head but we've brought some guests in who shared their story shared some insights shared like very specific advice yeah we've kind of know ran the ran the i don't know the The gamut. Is that the word gamut? Yeah. We ran the gamut. um And so I really just want to thank y'all. like Like we're a podcast with our baby little humble beginnings. That's right. You know what I mean? And those of you that came on our show are ready to support us in the very beginning. Like that was a leap of faith on your part. Yeah. We couldn't believe when people said yes. Yeah. Unbelievable that you would be willing to come on and share what you know. Right. Give us your time, your energy and whatever to do that. And you believe in us already. And that just means the world to us. So to those of you that have already been on the podcast and taken the time and energy to do that, we really want to say thank you for being a part of this. Yeah, absolutely. Every guest that we've asked onto the show is because they can help in some way. And they've all done that. Like AJ said, we've had friends that are new to the process of running. And so maybe they've tapped into some new runner feelings. We've had people that, you know, are, are like legit athletes, like clay, our running coach. Um, you know, we've just had a lot different people that have different, um, tips and tricks and, you know, areas of expertise that they can, that they can share with us. And so we've appreciated all of that. Yeah. And we'll continue to have guests on the podcast. And I think it goes back to our controlling idea, know, and all that whatever. We still will run the guests that we have on the podcast through a filter of like, how is this going to help everybody? How is this helpful? Just know that we are committed to bringing you awesome guests, the ones that are willing to come on and chat with us, as long as they're bringing something super valuable and helpful, running Disney, run Disney, like whatever it is, as long as they're providing some value. So all the guests we've had on, you know, they gave us time and energy and tons of value already, but they're back.
00:17:16
Speaker
awesome Some of our guests have come back to give you some last minute advice before marathon weekend. So if you're running marathon weekend, they've got some advice for you. We're going to play some of those right now. yeah Some encouraging messages from some of the guests, a few of the guests that we've had on the podcast so far.
00:17:32
Speaker
Hi friends, it's Bob from the Rise and Run podcast. It's marathon weekend. Yay, um I'm so excited. Excited for you, excited to be there. Tip number one, remember when you go through the parks, they have real toilets there, so you're not confined to the porta-potties.
00:17:46
Speaker
You can scope them out ahead of time, not a bad idea. Tip number two, and this one's a little bit more serious and more important. I find after 65 Run Disney events,
00:17:57
Speaker
Five Dopeys, the event is so much more pleasurable if you can find someone to run with you. Now, you can either do that with someone you know, or a great way of doing that is to join a Jeff Galloway pacing group.
00:18:12
Speaker
Find out about them at the expo, hook up with one, start with one that's a little slower than you expect to go, and have a wonderful time. Have fun, friends. Look forward to seeing you there. Happy running.
00:18:23
Speaker
Hi, this is Evan. I'm the president of the Peachtree City Running Club in beautiful Peachtree City, Georgia. Just want to wish all of you who are running the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend a great race.
00:18:36
Speaker
You've put in the training, so trust your training and have fun. If there's two bits of encouragement I could give you, I would say... Be present. Run the mile you're in. Just have fun.
00:18:47
Speaker
Don't think too far ahead. don't Don't worry about how it's going to go later in the race. Just run the mile you're in. And secondly, thank the volunteers. Show lots of love to the people who are working the race, and it'll make your race even better.
00:19:02
Speaker
Have a great time at Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Hi, it's Doug and Michelle from Rope Drop On Deck, and we're here to encourage you on your marathon weekend challenge. So just remember your preparedness, trust in your training.
00:19:16
Speaker
Or if you didn't train, the magic will carry you, right? Yeah, definitely. The magic will lead in there. Casey Best is definitely headed your way. hey guys, my name's Taylor, and one piece of advice for you from me for Marathon Weekend is to go on with a positive attitude and a big smile. One of my best memories on the race course is running alongside a lady I had just met, and we had really good conversations that made the miles go so much faster.
00:19:39
Speaker
So talk to the person next to you, have a big smile and cheer everybody on. You got this. Hey AJ, I'm Coach k Clay. I just want to say enjoy the day. I know everybody says that, but like really take every moment from the ups and the downs and just embrace it all. But don't forget to fuel and drink and sleep and good luck. You're going to crush it.
00:19:58
Speaker
Hey y'all, it's Kristen or some of you may know me as Running In Makeup. And I wanted to offer up a couple of reminders and encouragements to you. as we are approaching and honestly in marathon weekend. The first is remember how brave you were the day that you signed up. So when this inevitably gets hard, because it will, you may be standing in the corral and thinking this was the stupidest thing i ever signed up to do. I want you to remember how much bravery it took you to sign up for this at the time, seemingly impossible task.
00:20:34
Speaker
And now look at you. You're there. You're there. You've put in the work. You're there. this is your victory lap. So don't forget how brave you were, how brave you were during training and how brave you are for showing up. Lastly, I just want to encourage you that no matter what happens this week, it's how it was supposed to be.
00:20:54
Speaker
If you don't meet a goal, that's okay. Learn a lesson in that. If you meet a goal, if you get this massive PR, that's amazing. Congratulations, revel in it. Learn the lesson. So maybe that's the bigger thing is whatever happens this week, learn the lesson that you were meant to learn. All right, see on the course.
00:21:14
Speaker
Bye. Hey there, one more run fam. It's Greg from the Rise Around Podcast coming to you live from the Skyliner here at Hollywood Studios, which is roughly about mile 23 and a half, 24 of the marathon. Here to give you some last minute marathon weekend advice, and that is just enjoy the weekend. Don't stress out about times or course crowding or anything like that. These are magical miles. Soak them in and enjoy every single second of them.
00:21:45
Speaker
That was special. We hope that you feel inspired by those last minute words of encouragement from our friends. Absolutely. Okay. So Erica, we, uh, let's talk about training. Yeah. We started training for the marathon and the podcast. Well, the podcast planning started well before, yes like months before, but like we started the podcast the same exact week. Yes. Episode one as marathon training. Yeah, that's right. We did that to line up topics when we thought they would be relevant for you. So, you know, as you were learning about strength training, we talked about learning how to strength train when it was time to book your hotel. We talked about, you know, how to book and which resort is best for your stay. And just we try to line up those things as you moved closer to marathon. That's right. And we didn't shy away, i don't think, from when things shifted in our training. Right. Right. So like our emotional journey through our training ended up being reflected in the podcast. Right. So like we had something planned for a week. yeah With the episode when we said that running is hard. Yes. I was going to say episode 18. That was not in the plan. It was not. No. At all. No.
00:22:50
Speaker
And ah who would talk about that? That doesn't make any sense, but it made sense when training got really hard. Yes. And so um we did that. Like the trajectory, I guess, of the podcast shifted as the trajectory of training had a major impact.
00:23:05
Speaker
on us. Yeah. It was getting really hard for us and we knew was getting hard for y'all and it ended ended up being a really well-received episode, I think, because it resonated with so many people in that moment.
00:23:16
Speaker
Right. Like we listened to that and then we still got all the topics in and and tried to get them in in the yeah in a timely manner, but we did, we did ah you know, kind of shift a little bit as needed, but I liked the way that our schedule and all that for the most part really lined up well with the training process. Yeah, absolutely.
00:23:32
Speaker
So let's take a quick listen back to how some of those training runs went over the last 28 weeks. Yeah, we generally recorded a video or something after a long run. And so we can play of those back.
00:23:45
Speaker
It's week three of marathon training. I really did not want to push it today. trying really hard to run injury free this season. three miles it was, which was plenty in this humidity. I hate being behind on the training schedule because I know you can't jump you know significant distances wherever you're not supposed to increase too much too fast. You know, not every run is going to feel amazing, but I got out here, I got seven miles done, and that's what matters. 11 miles is done, glad is behind me. You know, when you increase to a new distance you haven't done either ever or in a long time, you know, even that extra mile,
00:24:17
Speaker
you know, over your previous distance, maybe two weeks ago, feels like lot. It was about 88 degrees when I left the house. So it is very hot. um It's definitely affecting my run. My coach had maybe 14. And actually saw him out while i was running. i passed him, high-fived him, going in the other direction. So that was nice little motivation. 11 miles are done. Today was much better than a couple weeks ago. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Marathon Training at its finest.

Pouring down rain here in Atlanta. And I work on how we say, You need practice running in the rain because it almost likely happened on the 23rd race weekend. So getting it done, this is what it's about. Just the hard stuff that you didn't expect. Last weekend we were at lake.
00:24:55
Speaker
I hurt my rib on the right side. Week two of rib issues, so I am not allowed to run and I'm not even supposed to speed walk. Finally, getting able to run without rib pain, which is awesome. All right, Erica and I just completed our third each-two-two.
00:25:10
Speaker
Awesome. Today's big day. Erica accomplished something big today. Silver Comet Half Marathon. I got a new PR. I beat my best half marathon time by a little over 10 minutes.
00:25:23
Speaker
So I was able to save a few seconds off of my PR time. I will say i tried out the Caller Hike app today that I heard on the Rise Run podcast and that thing might be my new favorite app of all time.
00:25:35
Speaker
It's really hard. It's cold today.
00:25:47
Speaker
and tripped over something that was not normally there and unfortunately i have broken my big toe um the bad news is i will not able to run marathon There have been all the emotions this weekend and I'm sure for the next, you know, six weeks, whatever, leading up to marathon, it will continue to be a roller coaster. Not every ride is a good one. And today was not a good one. I am proud of myself for not quitting because almost quit.
00:26:13
Speaker
I'm not kidding. Several times. Today was 20 miles. It's the longest run had to do before marathon weekend. Four, little less than four hours, right? So that's a long time be out by yourself.
00:26:24
Speaker
This is the first week in over a month that I've been out on the road wearing two normal shoes, able to speed walk. I cannot believe that Marathon is only a week away. If you see me at the finish line, please come say hey.
00:26:36
Speaker
going to be cheering y'all on. And that's the last long run. That's it. 27 weeks, 28 weeks, something like that. So Walt Disney World Marathon, here we come.
00:26:50
Speaker
So that was really interesting hearing how we've progressed through training. yeah certainly. Yes. We've learned a lot about ourselves as runners as we've gotten ready for marathon. What have you learned, AJ, about podcasting as we've gone through these last 27 weeks?
00:27:03
Speaker
Yes, because we are new to it. yes like ah We don't have any experience in this whatsoever. When we started episode one, I'm a little embarrassed. you know yeah As I go back and listen, like, oh, we have gotten better. That's the positive. like, maybe start like further in one. Yeah, when people say, what episodes do i need to listen to? I'm like, start with 10 at least. yeah At least. So I say that. I'm going to answer your question, but like yeah we are new to podcasting. This is not. And we make our we have a full share of mistakes you remember that time i didn't hit the record button yes i remember i was hoping you forgot episode 7b it was episode 7b you're wow steel trap yeah i've been married to that for please oh my you're the steel trap memory okay um okay so what was your question
00:27:50
Speaker
What have you learned about podcasting? Oh, right. Okay. So what I've learned about podcasting, I can see why most people quit. yeah That's what I've learned about podcasting. yeah And that's not a complaint. So don't hear me be like, oh, AJ is just, he hates making this podcast. right I love it. yeah It's fun. But I see why most people quit because it's hard. yeah And I see why they quit at episode seven. We were coming up in that up under 10 episodes where I'm like, this is starting to get hard. yeah You know, because in the beginning of anything, it's real fun. Yeah. You know, like yeah you start, you decide you want to learn to play guitar. You start, you learn, you know, your three chords and whatever. And it's all good until they start getting you to like actually do your finger position correctly. You know what I mean? Like then it starts to get hard, yeah you know? So anyway, I would say that there are three things that people don't get nailed down. hmm. when they're starting something like this, that we very, ah luckily, I don't know how, maybe just all the research or something, we were able to nail down and that's why this works. Yes. If that makes any sense. And there's a bunch of factors, I think, of what makes the show like feel good and all that stuff. But I think these are like the three things I've learned that if you don't have these nailed down,
00:28:57
Speaker
You're probably not going to continue your show. Right. If that makes any sense. So here's the three. um It takes a lot of time. Yes. And that's why you need to know your why. And we talk about that in running for sure. yeah You need to know your why behind your running. um Our friend Doreen talk about a lot says why you do something determines how well you do something. That's correct. yeah Right. yeah So why you run determines how well you run. You know, she would say why you work determines how well you work. So same thing with the podcast. It's very clear to us. We have set that clear objective yes of helping y'all get to the start line and the finish line. Yeah. The second thing I learned is that you have to be intentional and planned out with your content for it to be good. Yes. So you and I could have just gotten these cool chairs that we bought on Amazon. You know what i mean? And we could have just sat here and talked. Mm-hmm.
00:29:46
Speaker
And it could have been all about Run Disney, but I think the structure, yes the guardrails, right? It kept us from floating too far off one direction or the other. And, you know, sometimes I say, well, that was a tangent we have to get back on track, yeah but it's usually not like a 30 minutes. no Right. No. You know? Yeah. And you think of creativity as like, I'm just going to go with what happens or whatever. Right. You actually like, I think you're setting yourself up for a struggle. Yes. Like I like that we have a plan. Yeah. I'm getting long winded on this, by the way. I just said, you know, podcast needs to stay on track. Right. So my third thing is that the thing I've learned about podcasting is that it's been the technology. Yes. That's been the biggest pain in my rear. Right. We do have a lot of good bloopers though from our technology fails. Yes, certainly. Certainly. The number of technology fails that we've had as soon as a guest logs on. Yes. It's always when we have a guest on. It's so embarrassing. You know? You're like, you're like hey,
00:30:48
Speaker
would you be willing to come on our little podcast we promise not to take too much of your time whatever and then they come on and i spend 10 minutes trying to get this stupid thing to work yes oh my gosh yep that's that's been the hardest part yeah so those are the things i've learned i really took a long time sorry about that what have you learned have you learned anything I can tell you this in two seconds. Oh, you can? The thing that I've learned about myself and recording podcasts is that I use a lot of filler words. I say, um, and yep, lot. And I know that you probably edit a lot of those out. So what they're hearing is probably even less than what I'm saying.
00:31:23
Speaker
see Yes. Your stunned silence is very reassuring. That's correct. Yep. That's all I'll say about that. Yeah, I do edit out. You know, we say we don't edit the podcast and I would love to take a moment to clarify that. we I edit the podcast.
00:31:37
Speaker
For unnecessary filler words so that you don't get irritated by it while you're on your run. That's right. But and you do leave all the embarrassing things. Correct. That's correct. when I say I don't edit the podcast, yeah I don't edit out who we really are and how things maybe don't go as well as we had intended for them to go. But then I also do edit. like This is a behind the scenes podcast episode. I do edit for content. When we get too far off track right or something isn't helpful. I mean, I, I, I listened to it.
00:32:07
Speaker
I listened to a podcast when I edit it, then I listened to it again. And then I go on or or I'll go on a run and listen to it. yeah I'll listen to it on a run before anybody else hears And I'm like, yeah okay, so what?
00:32:18
Speaker
That part gets cut. Yeah. If I'm saying, so what? Then it gets cut. Right. Right. And so then you listen to it and you tell me, you know, whether or not you feel like something's helpful or not. Right. And so we have a process for that. So when I say I don't edit the podcast, what I really mean is if it embarrasses Erica, I leave it. That's correct. If it embarrasses me, I ah decide. And we really edit it for content, you know, to make sure that it's relevant. Yeah. Okay. Anything else you've learned about podcasting?
00:32:44
Speaker
Not really. I mean, everything that you already said, yeah it's hard. There are days when we don't want to do it. i think our last episode we recorded, i had a migraine, but you know we don't want to let anyone down. We want everyone, our regulars are ready to listen for that episode on Wednesday morning. so yeah But it's it's good. We love it. There's so many parallels to running on this whole thing too. yeah is like Sometimes it's just a matter of sitting down and starting. You get in the flow. thousand percent. Anybody have that experience with a run? You do. You know what to mean? yeah and You always feel great about it when you're done. yeah yeah There's just so many parallels to this and uh if it was easy everyone would do it you know what i mean like there's just so many parallels that interestingly we have the tools already because we're runners yeah so like yes we've had to learn the tech and we've been so embarrassing in some scenarios you know but we're figuring it out yeah you know we know what we don't know and that's right Yeah.
00:33:39
Speaker
Awesome. Okay. I think ah I'd love to know this. Yes. And i think I started the last one. so Well, you know what we'll do? We'll alternate. Okay. Let's alternate on this one. I'll give an answer. You give an answer. Whatever. I'd love to know three things you love about this whole journey, yeah this podcasting and and starting one more run. tom So what's, you want to go first? Yeah, sure. Okay. All right. Go for it. Yeah. So I love when someone lets us know the podcast has encouraged them to continue on when they didn't think they could, like Rachel at the beginning or, yeah you know, a lot of the emails or reviews people left us. um That just means a lot to me to know that we've, you know, had some small impact and in their journey. Yeah. Yeah. At least and I think you would agree with this. We're not putting in the miles and getting out like like for for that person. Like yeah when it's cold and you don't want to and your kids are at home with the flu or whatever, you're doing the hard work. Oh, absolutely. It's you doing it. Yeah. But if we can at least just be that little tiny bit of encouragement or whatever, right that's what you're saying? Yeah. Or I just love encouraging people, you know, knowing that they have done it, that they've pushed through. Yeah.
00:34:40
Speaker
Awesome. Uh, I love when someone doesn't quit or chooses to start. Yeah. You know, like those two things were really hard. yeah And so for me, when I hear stories like that, like that's like, I'm like, yep. Okay, cool. Let's go record the podcast. You know, yep I'm happy to edit till midnight. You know, it doesn't matter when I, when I hear stories like that. Yeah. What's ah another thing you love about doing this? I mean, I kind of just said it, but seeing our friends succeed, you know, we don't know a lot of y'all personally, but we do have a lot of friends um in our town, in our community that um have started running.
00:35:13
Speaker
It sounds silly to say, but they said like, because they've seen us run and they and they've heard us talk about it. And so just seeing them succeed, I love that. Whether, you know, it's three miles or a marathon, it doesn't matter. Just getting out there and getting it done. So that's exciting. I'm interested to see how marathon weekend goes for us emotionally. no Just knowing people we don't know yet. Yes. Right? like yeah And just having maybe a little bit of different perspective. I think our first few, we were so thrilled to cross the finish line alive that like it was our journey. yes And now I think we get to be a little piece of other people's- We are so invested in and so many other people's journeys. Story now. I'm excited to see them finish.
00:35:54
Speaker
Or wearing their medal in the park or whatever it is. Totally. Like we haven't had that yet. Yeah. Yeah. Again, not about us, but, but like it's going to be great to be able to celebrate that because you know, so far our run Disney journey so far has been surviving. Right. Yeah. Surviving mile three at the Disneyland half. Mm-hmm. Remember that water stop? do remember that water stop. Okay. My number two thing, Erica, is, and again, these are all kind of running together, very similar. It's stories like Trevor. And so Trevor's a friend of ours. You've heard him on the podcast twice if you've been from here from the beginning. and And we know Trevor personally. He decided to do his first half marathon and he's days away from doing it. Yes. Right? He's finished his training. He feels confident. Now, nervous? Sure. I'm sure he's nervous, right? Yeah. You're concerned about being cold in the corral? Of course. You know what i mean? Do I have enough fuel? that that Sure. yeah But he's confident. he He literally did the mile. He's done the mileage already. Yeah. Right? He knows he can do it. Yeah.
00:36:52
Speaker
And I just love a story like that. And he's not the only one. He's just a name. Right. And when I sit down to do this podcast, how many times have you and I sat and said, this is for Trevor? And now we have such a long list of names to say, but Trevor's like the, like he stands as like the, what do you call it? The icon. And so he represents, I guess what I'm saying. yeah Someone going from, I don't know if I can to, wow, look what I did. Totally. Okay. So excited for him. What else do you love about doing this?
00:37:22
Speaker
I love doing the recordings together. This has sort of turned into our like weekly date night. Yeah, little bit. Yeah, little bit. Running, and especially around Disney, has always been the thing that we do together. And so it's neat that we've been able to sort of incorporate the podcast into that as well. So it's fun to come downstairs and record for a couple of hours every week. Yeah. All right, Erica. It's like our weekly date night. It is. We just like bring down a bottle of wine, know? Some tortilla chips and queso. Oh, that actually is not a bad idea. Yeah. We'll just bring the Mexican to the basement. I need to give you like a... To the podcast recording. I need to figure like a foot switch or something for your mic you can mute your mic. Right. Will I chew? That'd be perfect. Gosh. Season two. Yeah. Season two, we're in our pajamas, chips and queso.
00:38:12
Speaker
And at the end of the season, we'll be you know eating some ice cream. I don't know. another thing, or my last thing that I love, I love the, um I call it like the open-handed mindset of everybody in this community. Yeah.
00:38:26
Speaker
Like everybody, not just us. Yeah. Like I know we say like, we're here to help. Everybody is. And I love that. Like I've, I've always known it, but I've discovered it more in the six month process so far, how, how no one judges yeah in the run Disney community. yeah And if you, if you come in and you have a close, a close minded judgmental, whatever, like it's clear that like,
00:38:50
Speaker
That's not what this community is about. Right, right. Yeah. Everybody can do Run Disney. We all face uphill battles. We all need help. You know what i mean? Like all the things. And so that's something that like I've always known, but it's really like flashlight on. Yes. You know, as we've been a part of, you know, helping share what we know, people have in turn done the same thing back. And I just love that. Yeah. And you can feel it on the course. If you're going into your first race, whatever distance that is this weekend or the challenge and you're going in, be prepared for like the best people ever. Yeah. And you're going to come across one person at one point that might be a little snarky, but that's one out of 30,000.
00:39:28
Speaker
thirty thousand Yeah. You know what i mean? This community is incredible. Yes. Great. Anything else you love about this journey or podcast or anything before we move on to kind of closing this out?
00:39:39
Speaker
No. Tell us about the future of the show. The future of the show. So we said last week that we are going to continue the show and hopefully with chips in caso and Here's the thing. We're going to continue to cover topics that help you feel confident, prepared, and inspired. That goes all the way back to 20 minutes ago when we said that's the reason we do this. right The topic has to or should, with the exception of this episode, is it needs to help you feel confident, prepared, and inspired. That's right. Right. If it does that, we'll cover it. And you've sent us ideas and stuff like that. And we'll, if it fits that criteria, boom, we're in. Yes. Yes. Thank you for those suggestions, by the way. Um, we are going to have more guests on the podcast that will be helpful and add perspectives that we might not have because we want to continue to help you grow.
00:40:25
Speaker
Yeah, there's no world in which I'm pretending like I know all the information. Right, no, we do not. And we've got a guest coming on. I'm tease a smidge. We have a guest coming on in two weeks that I can't even believe is coming on this show. She said yes. I can't even believe And so I'm so excited. Like just, I couldn't believe it when Kristen said she'd on. know. And then Rise and Red said it. I mean, I just can't even. You know what mean? My mind is blown. And so two weeks from now, you're going to be, you're going love it. Yes. I do want to say like, as we kind of keep this thing going, some of the tips and stories and whatever, they're probably going to get repeated. Yes. Right. Because there's only so much that we can share. So I'm saying right now, sorry.
00:41:08
Speaker
You know, the show continues to grow and, you know, we just feel like, you know, yeah, yeah. Oh, we want to talk about this that, whatever. Like there's probably a story or two or three or tip or whatever that you're going to have heard us say before. And we're going to say it again either remind you, to remind ourselves for that person who wasn't here from the beginning. Hasn't heard every episode. Yeah. Yeah. You know mean? As people join in on this process, they may not go back and listen to the terrible first few episodes. You know what mean? Right. Yeah. And they might just like join in at whatever episode number they find us That's And so they might not have heard some of those things. So if you've been here from the beginning, my goodness, we love you. Thank you for being here. Right?
00:41:48
Speaker
Just know that some stuff might get repeated and we're going do our best to keep everything fresh. Totally. And relevant. Yes. So please continue to send us any ideas or questions or feedback you might have so that we can make it better and cover topics that you want to hear.
00:42:03
Speaker
Absolutely. We'll take any any suggestion. If it's a terrible idea, we'll just shoot you straight and say, are you kidding me? I won't do that, but AJ might. We will not. We will not. We'll take any and all ideas for sure. I have one last statement, Erica. I didn't actually run this one by you, but- Hopefully you agree. If you don't agree, then okay. Here's my statement. If this show ever becomes about us, you and me, AJ and Erica, yeah all the content is like focus on what we did, what we can do, what we whatever. If it ever becomes about us, we're calling it Yeah, for sure. That's the end. For sure. Like the show, that that will be our sign that it's the end. And you have permission to call us on that. Yeah. yeah yeah If we don't recognize it, Yeah. Send us that email. You know what I mean? For sure. And even if even if we're drifting that way, we would rather be held accountable right than for this to be some glorified like, wow, look how amazing we are thing. Yeah, no, we don't want that. That's not the point. and The point is to help you accomplish what you want to accomplish. Yes. Right? So that's it. If if it becomes about us, that's the end. Totally.
00:43:07
Speaker
So if you love the show, here is how you can help. Please share the show, especially when you see someone asking questions, maybe on social media or in your running group. um If they're asking questions that you feel like we can answer for them, please let them know about the show. Another way you can support, and we say it a lot in the episodes or whatever, is if you leave an Apple podcast review, it does a couple things. the you know The primary thing is it lets us know what we're doing well, and we can make sure that we're staying on track with that. So what you like, let us know what that is in an Apple podcast review. um But that also does help the algorithm stuff. It helps people find the show. It helps people know before they hit that subscribe button, oh, so people do like this show. mean, when you buy stuff on Amazon, you don't buy something with one star, right? So if you do love the show, it'd be ah it mean a lot to us, but it also really would help other people yeah if you could leave a five-star review and let us know what you love about the show.
00:43:59
Speaker
Absolutely. And then the last thing that you can do is represent with some podcast stickers. We will send them to you. Just send us your address. Email us at... Hello at AJ and Erica.com. Dot com. Yeah. is Yes. I was like, that's it, right? Yes. Hello at and Erica. Yep. We, I've said this before. We promise not to do anything weird with your, your mailing address. We'll send you podcast stickers yeah and you could put it on your water bottle or your laptop or whatever. Yeah.
00:44:27
Speaker
That's kind of the behind the scenes stuff. Yep. If there's something that you want to know, you know, we're an open book. Like obviously yeah we keep the bloopers in here. So we're pretty open. bay We're going to talk news and personal training update here, but Erica, anything else before we get into kind of that stuff on,
00:44:43
Speaker
the behind the scenes stuff of the show. Nope. One day, it's not now, one day I'm going to do a video that shows our our whole setup in here.
00:44:53
Speaker
Oh, that'd be fun. Like our technical setup with like a regular, I know this camera's fancy and whatever, like a regular camera so you can see just kind of what our space looks like and how we do this and yeah what we're looking at right now. Yes. Because you see us But we got a whole thing going on behind camera. That's right. That is is a lot. So one day I'll do that.
00:45:12
Speaker
I'm not sure when that's going to be. But I think that'd be fun people. that'd be fun. Great. Okay. So let's do, we do this in every episode. Yep. We talk about Run Disney News. We talk about our personal training updates. Which one do you want to hit first? I don't care. Whatever you want. Let's go run Disney news because there are a few things. Yes.
00:45:29
Speaker
The Disneyland courses came out. We are running the Disneyland half marathon. Yes. So we're not doing a challenge or anything. We're just doing the half, which is the worst course of all the courses on the Disneyland weekend. That is correct. But we're doing it for the coast to coast. Yes. That's why we're knocking that out. So any thoughts? You've seen the course. We talked about it briefly. You know, funny, back to behind the scenes, funny inside things. Sometimes I talk you about stuff and then I'm like, I like withhold some information so we can share on the podcast. You can get like my authentic reaction. That's exactly right. I'm like, Erica, what do think about the Disneyland course? Actually, nevermind. Don't tell me. So what did you think? Yeah. So first, I think it's funny. We should say, like, we said we would never do it again. Yeah. Because we just didn't enjoy it. But, you know, couple of things.
00:46:19
Speaker
It's going away again, maybe forever. Who knows? um So, of course, we had to do it. yep I worked on Small World when we were in college at Disneyland. And that's the theme for the half. And so, of course, we had to do it. So so anyway, it did crack me up when Ren Disney released the little video clip of, like, the course you know, the little animated. It's like a little flyover, like shows you where you're going to go. And so it's like mile one, mile two. And it's like showing photos of people in the park, like running, having fun. Yeah. And then it gets to like when you leave the park and it's like,
00:46:50
Speaker
the end, like fireworks. It takes like three seconds to show you all of the streets of Anaheim. Right, yeah. With nothing. Because nobody is really excited about that. No. Yeah, yeah. And it's not Disneyland's fault. They don't have enough space. No, it's not. 100%. They have to work with the city. Oh, yeah. But they just, they can't do the road like Disney World does the road. You know what mean? Like even when you're on the road Disney World, there's character stops and there's DJs and there's all kinds of entertainment. You don't get that when you're running the streets of Anaheim, but it's good. But think it We did the first one back in 2024. That's right. And we're going to do the last one out in 2026. So we'll have like seen the progression, right? The bookends, yeah. Yeah, we'll see. Okay, so all right. So you guys are new at this again. right, right. And then we'll see how they finish. Yes.
00:47:41
Speaker
But we talked about it recently. The merch looks awesome. Oh my gosh. that They do the merch so good so at Disneyland. Yes. We will take it all. No, we won't. We will not. No. If you want to give it to us, we will take it all. Exactly right. Cool. Yeah, I'm excited. the The good news is that it's not the same streets we did last time.
00:48:01
Speaker
Yes, yes. But the bad news is it looks like there's like 600 turns. Switchbacks, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like coming back the way you came. Right, yeah. Like I like seeing people go the other direction, but not for a long time. Right. Especially if you're on your way out and you're like, crazy.
00:48:15
Speaker
rap Corral A is already on their way back. Yes. You know what I mean? yeah And so like, I'm sure it'll be fine. Yeah. You know? ah It's just another moment to encourage other runners. That's right. Especially if you're ahead of them.
00:48:27
Speaker
Yes. Erica, you're like the queen of positive things. Great. Anything else on Disneyland course map or anything like that? Nope. We got the whole event guide, but. Yes. Okay. Yeah. It's only a couple weeks away? Yeah.
00:48:38
Speaker
Crazy. I know. um Let's see. The 2026, 2027 race dates were announced. Yes. Any thoughts? Sign me up. think they're the same. What did you say? Sign me up. They're the same as like this last year. Yeah. Like I think it's like the same weekend for every race. So we have not talked at all about what that next year holds for us. We were supposed to do less races this year. You remember that? We are doing less races year.
00:49:04
Speaker
We were supposed to do significantly less. you remember that? Mm-hmm. Whatever. Tomato, tomato. Tomato, tomato. Okay. If you could only say, here's a better question. you can only sign up for two races. Okay. Thank you for saying two. I was to say, don't say one. But that's next. If you could only sign up for two, because this year is, it was only two. Yes. It was Marathon and Princess. Correct. And then Disneyland said, hey, didn't think you were doing this one?
00:49:31
Speaker
Let's try that again. They're going to waste and you want this coast to coast. So yeah then they got us. Yeah. So if you could only do two weekends. If I could only do two, it would be princess and marathon. Perfect. If I could only do one, it would be princess a thousand percent. percent Really? Yes.
00:49:45

How about I go to marathon and you go to princess? How about no, Scotty? Okay. How about no? Okay. I don't have any other significant comments on. I just put it in the news because it happened. Yeah. But they look like the normal whatever. Be prepared. The registration is like really soon.
00:50:04
Speaker
Yes. And I'm sure that you've like linked it before and mentioned it, but AJ has put together a really great video on how to register. Oh, it's going to have, we need a new video. Okay, perfect. Whatever. The list weekends have changed now. Okay. There's all, okay of like, everything's different. Well, when he releases his new one, make sure he watches his video on how to register. We will do an episode okay on it first. Perfect. Just so you know. Yes. And we're going to, like, when I have that all written out, I'll do a video again as well. Okay. But we are going to do an episode right before register at the first registration of the season, maybe.
00:50:35
Speaker
Actually, I'm not sure when it is. But it's goingnna be timing is going to be relevant. Perfect. We'll do an episode exactly how to register. Good. Okay. And last, Run Disney news is that ah just days before the marathon weekend, the shoes, Brooks shoes, Run Disney themed shoes, yeah were announced online this weekend. Yes. Any thoughts? I like the white ones.
00:50:58
Speaker
Okay. That's like the the run Disney ones, right? Like just generic. Yeah. They're not themed to anything. Correct. Okay. You like those? I like those. Okay. I still wish they had like a pink pair, but not so much. Okay. I like the colors of the stitch ones.
00:51:11
Speaker
Yeah. I don't dislike Stitch. I'm just not like I wouldn't buy a pair of shoes with Stitch on them, but I do like the blue color. I'm not sure about the, again, Shippendale, super cute characters. yeah I don't know about running in a brown tennis shoe. I'm just not.
00:51:24
Speaker
and I know there's been like different lighting and different photos, but it's still brown, I think. So I'm not sure if I want to run in brown tennis shoes. You said running. You would run in the run Disney shoes? Yeah. Oh, no. Sorry. Yeah. I don't actually run in the Brooks shoes. I just wear them to walk in. I run in ultras, but yeah I would walk in Brooks shoes. You'd walk in Brooks shoes, but not Brooks brown shoes.
00:51:46
Speaker
that what I just heard you I mean, not unless I was dressing like Chip or Dale. yeah Probably not. do You wore brown boots. That is different. Okay. If you could buy a pair at the I would buy the white ones. You like the white.
00:52:00
Speaker
yeah the The ones with the castle on the back. Uh-huh. so close yeah for me i'm talking about my my opinion yes so close yeah but like the color combo is a little too off for my personality type like the blue and the purple yeah or whatever yeah that is it misses for me right but i love that this got the castle on it i think it's pretty cool yeah for sure and there's another pair what's on them oh it's the mickey ones they're black Yeah. Um, I have the original Mickey ones, hu so I don't feel like I need another Right. pair Right. You know, I think it's even the same model. And so I don't, I don't need those because I ever already have a pair that are Mickey themed. Yeah.
00:52:40
Speaker
So if they did like a really cool princess line for princess weekend, then I'd probably get me on every pair. Well, princess weekend is in like six weeks. i know. Come on, Brooks, don't fail me now. Yeah. You know what they'll do They'll do like Merida and it'll be orange. And you'll be like, come on.
00:52:58
Speaker
I would be fine with Merida. Oh. Honestly. But I would be fine with Merida if it was the teal. Yes. With like orange laces. That was the coming next. Yeah. Like, yes. But no, they're going to do you dirty. You think they're going to be orange? Yeah. They're going to be like her hair. You know? Yeah. And you're going to be like, wow, great.
00:53:14
Speaker
Okay. All right. Anything else on any of those run Disney topics? Nope. Okay. Personal training update. I'll go first. I'm done running for now. Like long, long distance. Yeah. Let's clarify. Long distance running before marathon weekend. John said it on rise and run podcast. Yeah. He said we're in like bubble wrap mode or something like that. That is for ah That is me.
00:53:35
Speaker
yeah I'm like emergency, whatever that stuff, they do build your immune system. I'm drinking like water only. Hand sanitizer like every two seconds. This guy, where was I ah Oh, the Hawks game the other day. Taylor and I went to a basketball game for the Atlanta Hawks and someone like five rows away went...
00:53:55
Speaker
okay, we got to move. like Like, let's go find some other seats. That guy might be sick. You know what I mean? And I'm just in that protective mode. I get it. But you still need to put some miles on your feet, in my opinion, right? Short, short easy runs. yes Because you don't want to like so protect yourself that then you actually get around all the people and you haven't moved. right And now your immune system is like, I don't know what, like restarting, whatever. And so like you have to, there's a fine balance yeah in this taper week. I am going crazy. I'd love to run.
00:54:24
Speaker
I mean, I would you'd love to run. I would love to. I'm sorry. but i would like I've been in a taper Let me corner finish. Okay. I would love to go run, but I also just am trying to make smart choices. Right. Yeah. Because I've already done my max mileage. Erica, I know you're frustrated, but I've done my max mileage. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I don't need to do that anymore. Right. Right. And so, but it's a balance because you do need to get out there. It was funny. It was all, it was all wet when I went and ran yesterday because of the rain and I was watching every step. Oh, I bet. I was like, ah,
00:54:53
Speaker
There's a leaf. Right. you Don't want to slip and fall now. Yes. So yeah if you guys are out there dealing with that, then i know um you know you I know you know how I feel. Yeah. Which it's so funny. I mean, the number of times I've said like over the last six weeks, who have I become that I'm like crying over not running? Like in high school, you couldn't paid me a million bucks to run. That's right.
00:55:14
Speaker
that's right I feel about the Peloton bike the way that, you know, I used to feel about running. don't like the bike either. I don't want to do it at all. and But no, I do miss running. um But walking is going good, speed walking. My original goal, like when I first broke my toes, was to just try to do like the first few miles to get to Epcot. I remember when you said you wanted to do like a mile to get to a character stop. Right.
00:55:35
Speaker
Because that was that was really, you didn't know what you were going be able to do. Yeah. Now I'm then a couple of weeks I'm like, well, I think I could make it to the castle. Now I'm like, uh, I could make it past the castle. Like I'm just, yeah, I think so. Especially if i get a you know, decent corral placement. So I'm not going to like hurt myself because we have, you know, like we've talked about Disneyland AF and princess coming up, but, um, but yeah, I mean, I, I trained for that. so I'm going to do as much of it as I can. And I hope you do.
00:56:01
Speaker
I will. Oh, I know you will. I can and I will. Yeah. We need to add onto that. I can and I will sticker. I can and I will make a smart choice. That's right. I'll just write it on a sticker for you. I'll add like in a little pen in the bottom. Make a smart choice. Don't don't overdo it. Okay.
00:56:18
Speaker
Because I want you to i want you to run Disneyland with me. Okay. All right. Sounds good. I mean, don't the streets of Anaheim sound awesome? I mean, they're just calling my name. Okay. okay Great. Anything else on training or anything? no That's okay. I am super excited. It is marathon weekend. It is, yes. Right? Like right now, everyone's already there, probably been to the expo.
