00:00:19
Speaker
Hey, everyone. Welcome to episode number 23 of the One More Run podcast. My name is AJ, and I'm here with Erica, who I am married to and is the best co-host of a podcast you could possibly thank you ask for. If you're new here, just know that we're sharing Run Disney tips. I mean, that that i mean we do cover other running things, but we do we're very Run Disney heavy. We are here on the podcast. And our goal is to help you feel confident and prepared going into whatever race you've got coming up. And for most of us, that coming up race is marathon weekend. And marathon weekend is getting like kind of overwhelming, I think, for a lot of us and a lot of people. Because you're training, your miles are high, whatever. And then now you're like the logistics of things. Like you imagined how it would be, but now you actually are weeks away yeah from actually having to execute the things you either thought of or some of the things you might not

Listener Engagement and Feedback

00:01:14
Speaker
have thought of. yeah And you're like, oh, shoot, what what am I missing? right So that's what this podcast is for. Yeah. and
00:01:21
Speaker
Yeah. Hopefully it's helpful. Yes. We've got reviews from friends. We do. New friends, people we have not met in person yet, but I'm dying to meet in person that have told us, hey, this is helping me get there. And that like fuels fuels this for us. So we read those reviews on the podcast. If you didn't know that and you left a review and you're like, wait a minute, why are they saying my name on the podcast? Sorry, we read the reviews on the pod. Erica does not like it when I say pod. When they read it on the podcast. Yeah. That's right. Anyway, Erica, would you mind reading today's review? Tell us who it's from. Tell what we got.
00:01:54
Speaker
So today's review is from DSI 324 and it's titled great podcast. I am so glad I found this podcast. You guys are great. I have always loved Disney. Grew up watching Walt telling my age, but Started running early 50s, just discovered Run Disney about five years ago.
00:02:13
Speaker
I'm 67 and have only run a few Disney races, but hope to run at least one race at each event in 2027. Hope you will continue the podcast after the marathon. Denise. Totally awesome. 67. 67 and wanting to do all four race weekends. Yes, that's amazing. Not 26, but the following year. Get it, Denise. So Denise will be 68 or 69 at that point. Yeah. Right? Yeah, that's awesome. That's awesome. Denise, you got it.
00:02:37
Speaker
Yeah. we That's like ah It's a, um, remember when we did our nearly perfect season? That's what I called it. Cause we did every race weekend like Denise wants to do. yeah And we had like, you know some races we did one and some races we did two, some races we did all of them, but we didn't actually complete the perfect season. I called it the nearly perfect. yeah So Denise, you can do a nearly perfect like us Yeah.
00:02:57
Speaker
also Awesome. Excited for you. Thanks for leaving that review. yeah If you guys leave a review, not only will we read it on the podcast, but also we'll send you some stickers if you want them. So we've got podcast stickers. Erica's got her mantra on a sticker. yeah I'll throw that one in there. I got my mantra, running mantra on a sticker, as well as like the podcast logo. That's right. Which I have on like my Yeti and I take it everywhere now. too. Yep.
00:03:18
Speaker
Anyway, if you want one, email us at hello at ajanderica.com. And Erica, you spell your name with a

Upcoming Topics and Scheduling Changes

00:03:24
Speaker
K. e-r-i-k-a that's right email us hello at aj and erica.com we'll send you sticker no problem yeah um okay upcoming topics erica next week we're going to combine two topics because we kind of hijacked the last week's episode which was awesome so good yes kristin from running and makeup was on yeah and i loved every second of it yes i listened i edited the podcast and Yep. So that meant I listened to it like three times right when I edit it, right? Go through and make sure everything's good. Then I listened to it on a run before I published it because I just wanted to make sure it fits and it was good. Then listened to it with you. ye Then listened to it when it like came out. So I've heard that podcast now like six times yeah and I'm still not sick of it. It was so good. I listened to it multiple times as well. And I said this before, but the thing that I loved is just how genuine and like real Kristen is. I just love that. Like, yeah yes, she's an influencer and she's amazing and like has all these followers, but like she's a real person who is so kind and- I think if she if you took all that whatever, all the platform stuff away and the number of followers and whatever, and you brought it down to five, yeah she would still do it. A thousand percent. At the same energy level because she loves helping people. Yeah.
00:04:40
Speaker
And i think she did that last week on our little baby show. Yep. And so yeah anyway, so i didn't mean to go on that tangent, but if you haven't heard episode 22, finish this one, then go listen to that one, yeah but just make sure you don't skip that episode.
00:04:56
Speaker
Anyway, back on track, we, we changed our schedule of like what we're going to talk about because we made room for that yeah and glad we did. So we were going to talk transportation, all the things you need to know about getting around on a run Disney race weekend. That was going to be today. Mm-hmm.
00:05:11
Speaker
But we moved and shift shifted everything.

Erica's Marathon Outfit and Injury

00:05:14
Speaker
Anyway, we're combining transportation and PhotoPass into one episode next week. So we're going to everything you need to know about getting around and how to maximize those photo opportunities.
00:05:24
Speaker
Perfect. Because you don't want to mess that up. No. You want to come home with some great photos. and We got tips and tricks for that. Yeah. So that's coming up. Perfect. Any comments on that? No. I would like to know about your outfit. Yes. Because I'm noticing several things happening here. So many fun things. Right. So if you're listening in the car, Erica has a wonderful sweatshirt on, some amazing leggings, and we'll get to what you're wearing on your foot here in just a second. So yes so tell tell us about your outfit because this is actually all very exciting. I know it is. So Zippity Tees just came out with some of their new marathon stuff. This is a pre-order and so super excited that this came to mail. Yes. Hashtag not sponsored. That's correct. Just love them. Just love it. yeah And speaking of love, these are my fun new leggings from love her shop, which if you are looking for fun, sparkly leggings for any of our upcoming races, you should definitely check them out.
00:06:11
Speaker
Always $35 or less. How long, like, because marathon is like less than 40 days out, is it? Yes. Serious question. is it Seriously, like the fastest shipping, like three or four days. Okay.
00:06:22
Speaker
Yes. And hashtag not sponsored again. Yeah. Also not sponsored, but definitely love them. They do not move. They have compression. They're amazing. They come in like 90 colors. Right.
00:06:32
Speaker
Yep. And you're wearing something on your oh yeah right foot that is not quite as fun. Not quite as fun. Keep in mind that some people are listening and not watching. Can you tell us what you're wearing on that foot? If you're listening, I'm wearing a big old walking boot on my foot and, uh,
00:06:51
Speaker
Can you tell us why? i sure can. I'm going to keep this so upbeat. Okay. Thanksgiving night, we host Thanksgiving. We had our whole family over, all the families combined. We had a few things that were not in their normal place. Like furniture. Yes, like furniture. And at the end of the night, I turned around real fast and tripped over something that was not normally there. And unfortunately, I have broken my big toe and... My foot is purple. And the good news is that I do not have to have a pin put in. Right. We went to doctor today. goodness. Yes. But the bad news is that I...
00:07:34
Speaker
i was doing really good. Okay.
00:07:39
Speaker
Crap, now I look like I've been crying. Okay. Okay.
00:07:43
Speaker
So I'm not looking to you. Okay. That's fine. So, uh, there have been all the emotions this weekend and I'm sure for the next, you know, six weeks, whatever, leading up to marathon, it will continue to be roller coaster. But, um, the bad news is I will not be able to run marathon. Um,
00:08:04
Speaker
I am thrilled that it was not worse than it is and that I will, um, hopefully be able to run the Disneyland half and princess half. Um, so yes, I will start the race hopefully as long as everything continues to heal. Okay. I'm going to start and walk and then I'm going to bust around to the finish line and cheer you and all of our friends on for the finish. So. Okay. Can I ask why you want to start?
00:08:31
Speaker
Is that okay to ask? Yeah. and I mean, knowing that that's going to be too much on your on your newly healed foot, right, to try and go 26 miles. Oh, yeah. So you know that that's out, right? um why Why do you want to start instead of just calling it now, right? Can I ask that question? Yeah. I think because I've put so much into this already and um I clearly don't like to quit. Um, we, we talked about this earlier. We are both firm believers that everything happens for a reason. yeah And I have been dealing with this hip injury, which I said last week on the podcast that I'm stubborn and I would probably try to run through any pain. And so, gosh, sorry, y'all. If you don't know this yet about me, I cry so easily. Okay. Anyways, I have all the big feels. Um, yeah, I just, I want to be able to start, um, you know, put in as much as I can. I think one of the things you were starting to share there is that this is super unfortunate and never would have chosen it. But one of the things that we've learned in our 24 years of marriage or have we been married 24? I think so. Close to it. yeah Is that sometimes things happen and we're protected from something. Totally. That we don't know is there. Yeah. Right. So there might be a reason that you're not supposed to be on. Right.
00:09:51
Speaker
Mile 15 of the course. Yeah. know, we don't know that and we may never know it. Right. And it doesn't make the emotion any easier. Nope. Still very devastating, right? But we firmly believe that everything happens

Podcast's Mission and Guest Introduction

00:10:03
Speaker
for a reason. Yep.
00:10:04
Speaker
And I think that you are like the ultimate encourager and helper. And so I think, and again, you may not ever know it, but I think some conversations or some things you share or new perspective that neither one of us have right yet, you will now have that perspective. Right. and be able to connect with someone similar, right someone down the road five years from now, who knows what it is, yeah right? Because all of our experiences have been, we go, we start, we do the thing, we go and we get on the bus with our metal and that's the end. yeah That's all the only run Disney type of experience we have. Totally. Knock on wood. That's all I ever wanted. You know, you don't want any other bad experiences. But I think something amazing will come from this because you are already a giver.
00:10:54
Speaker
Yeah. I hope so. It is very sad, but I want to be smart, recover well so that I can do more runs. So you have learned.
00:11:06
Speaker
Yes. That pushing through the pain right now is not the move. Nope. Get healed up for later. Yep. Okay, should we actually talk about yes good unhappy fun the point of this episode? But I do kind of want to plug that later, right here after this in 20 minutes or whatever, we're going to talk with our good friend Trevor. yes Trevor, if you've been with us since the beginning of the podcast, he came on early on. He's a friend of ours. He comes to our house every week you know for for Bible study. So we know him, we know his family, and he's running his very first half marathon. Erica, he's doing it at- Disney. Yes. yeah Marathon weekend. Marathon weekend. So he'll be doing the half. We'll cheer him on for that. Yes. But because we like introduced you to Trevor in the beginning, he hadn't run any miles yet. Yeah.
00:11:48
Speaker
Now he just did his nine mile. That is so exciting for him. Long run. Yes. And I had a chance to run with him on a different day, whatever, you know, because we live close. So anyway, we're going to catch up with Trevor later in the episode. But first, let's get to the meat of today's episode. We're done crying. We're done with the reviews. We got Trevor coming up. I think we've covered all the stuff, right? Perfect. So let's talk about today's topic, which is our timeline for a race weekend. Yeah. This is a little nitty gritty. We'll try not to get too into the weeds on this, but a few disclaimers as always. Here's the deal. Let's assume that this is a challenge weekend because all the options could get us like, but if you're doing this, then this is what we do. If we do this, then this is what you We're just going to like take a weekend. Uh-huh. which is let's just say a challenge weekend, which would be um princess, right? perhaps two to two to Two days of races, a 10K and a half. Because you know the chances that most people are doing four races or whatever, like it's slimmer. Like I think the most common thing yeah would be a a challenge. So we'll assume that. We'll also assume that we're flying there. You and we live close enough that we could drive or we could fly. It all depends on our circumstances, but we realize people from Minnesota are probably not no driving in, right? So we're just going to assume that we're flying and then we will not assume that we have an annual pass. Okay. Because i don't think most out-of-towners do. Yeah, probably not. Okay. Also, this is our ideal but realistic scenario based on limited funds and time. Circumstances obviously mess us up sometimes. Also, this is what works for us. You do what's best for you.
00:13:23
Speaker
Absolutely.

Ideal Race Weekend Schedule

00:13:24
Speaker
There's always variables. This is just our, if we could do it without work being in the way, without money being tight, without anything, yeahp without kids, all that. All the things. Great. um So let's do it day by day. Perfect. Cool that? Yep. Hour by hour. I'll take the first day. You take the second and then feel free to comment. Okay. If you've got a comment on the day that I'm covering...
00:13:45
Speaker
Great. You do the same. sounds good Here we go. We're diving in folks. Grab a pen because if you want to jot this down, you can, or just enjoy. So here's the deal on a challenge weekend. We would love to travel in on Wednesday. So the races aren't till Saturday, Sunday, but we would like to come in on Wednesday. Erica, the number one reason we come in on Wednesday is because we want to make sure we do what on Thursday.
00:14:05
Speaker
We want to go to the expo. That's right. So if you want to be at the expo on time, it's real hard to get in that morning. yeah So we got to come in a whole nother day early. So for us, ideally, get some work done, pack, get the kids everywhere, all that stuff yeah in the morning and fly out that afternoon. So 2 PM, we leave for the airport, five o'clock or so our flight leaves and we're headed to Orlando, but because we're in Atlanta, we're already there.
00:14:31
Speaker
yeahs It's like 50 minute flight. So, you know, depending on where you live, you know, but that's going to change. But for us, if we take a five o'clock flight, we're there at MCO, the Orlando airport by six yeah and getting into Orlando is not hard. It's getting out of Orlando. That sucks. Right. So getting in, i would say you could be down at baggage claim on your way to transportation within an hour. Would you agree with that? Yes.
00:14:54
Speaker
um So six o'clock, we arrive. Seven o'clock, we're down at the shuttle. Usually the Mirs Connect shuttle is like a five minute wait. Yep. We've had it where it's longer, but it's usually a five minute wait within an hour of getting on that bus. We are at our resort, no matter what resort it is on Disney property, checking in. So we left Atlanta at two o'clock or left our house at two o'clock, eight o'clock. We are checking in to the hotel. What's the first thing you like to do, Erica, when you get to the hotel room?
00:15:21
Speaker
unplug the room phone. Why is that? If you have not heard our story about this, um I don't even know what race weekend it was now, but. Wine and Dine, I remember it. It was the time change weekend. That's why I remember it. We were gaining, like a we were gaining time and someone ruined it. Yeah. So we had gone to bed early and around like midnight or so, somebody called our room. It was like a prank call. And then we couldn't go back to sleep. And we just laid there staring at the ceiling until two in the morning when our alarm went off. So now we always unplug the room phone.
00:15:53
Speaker
Yep, we do. So Erica likes to, what do they call it? Like nesting or whatever when you like, is that what it's called? and No, that's when you're pregnant and you're setting up the baby shoot. What's it when you called when you're like unpacking and you get everything in all the drawers and all the stuff? What's that called? I would call that getting settled or getting unpacked. Okay, sorry.
00:16:10
Speaker
So Erica does that. i'm i'm a i usually just get out of the way. Although I have to say the longer if I'm married, the now you do this when you travel without me. I do it. with I do it. Yeah. But I also realize that you like it's a priority for you. So I stay out of the way until you're done. I think because there's like so much involved with like a race weekend, like everything has to go in its place so that I have less stress. It's good when we do this without the kids because, you know, like the resorts have the big bench um table desk thing under the TV. Right. And it's amazing how fast our costumes and fuel and water bottles and everything fill up that whole thing. The extra bed becomes like either like a recovery station with the boots so and or costume layout. yeah So the first hour or so in our room is us turning it from a Disney resort to a run Disney resort room. Right. Basically. oh Usually we get a late night snack. Yes. And so Three Bridges is one of our go-tos when we're staying at Cornel Springs or we'll do the poolside bar or something that. So late night snack. By 10 o'clock, I've got the Mickey cartoons on and I'm i'm going to bed. 10.30 or so, probably lights out. I know you change the channel as soon as I'm I certainly do. As soon as I turn the lights off. Anyway, so that's a travel day. We don't we we never do. We never try and park on the day that we arrive. We never try and do anything you know massive on the day that we arrive, assuming that it is like this. It's a travel day. That's right. Great.
00:17:36
Speaker
Let's move on to Thursday. Erica, we're still a couple days away from running, so Thursday. That's right. Thursday, the main thing for this day is expo. And also to have a little fun in the parks. So at 6 a.m., AJ is up and ready to get a virtual queue. Because don't know how to sleep in. That's right. That's right. And I definitely don't have a problem sleeping in. So AJ is up and ready to get a virtual queue. At 8, he's going to secure the virtual queue time. What's that for?
00:18:02
Speaker
to get into the expo to look at merchandise. That's right. Yeah. That's right. Yeah. and yeah the The virtual queue is for merchandise. Yes. And so I am up way too early, ready to lock it in. Always. Also getting some resort breakfast usually. um At 930, we are going to catch a bus to the expo.
00:18:21
Speaker
At 10, we will arrive to the expo or maybe a little bit sooner. Make sure that you bring your ID and your check-in pass, which you can download onto your phone in your wallet if you have an iPhone. Yeah, the Apple wallet. Yeah, that's right. We talked about the expo in our previous episode where This is like if we care about merchandise and all that and we're already there and we're not coming in a day or two late, you know, because of life, like we will go at this time. Yes. And it is the busiest time. It sure is. So it will take you an extra amount of time to get through all of this stuff. But if, you know, you're dying know your bib number or not bib number, your carol placement and you're dying to get some merchandise, yep this is the time. Totally. I mean, it's, it's craziness. Yeah. There's rope drop for sure. Right. Just be ready for that. Yeah, totally. One of the things that we do while we're waiting is we order groceries to be delivered to our resort while we're standing in line. So you will stand in line in that bib when you go pick up your bib or whatever, like that arena thing or whatever. They have like multiple, i don't know if it's multiple, we have but they have like a ballroom. Yes. Huge, whatever, with just tape down on the floor, like, you know, zigzag back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. Same thing with the merchandise, you know, at that time. So yes, we will take advantage of that and get those those groceries at least ordered. Yeah. So that they're ready when we get back. Totally. So now we're coming up on lunchtime, 12 o'clock. What do we do for lunch usually? we are definitely stopping at the Wetzel pretzel station and getting likely a pineapple cider for lunch. Oh yeah. That's two different stands, but we will, I will, you know, we'll split like the mini bites or something like that. And, um, and the pineapple cider is super good. So yeah, it's usually lunch at the expo, right? Yep.
00:20:00
Speaker
Absolutely. Perfect. Around one o'clock, we're going to get on the bus to go back to the resort. Around two, we're going to pick up our groceries, drop off all of the stuff we just got at the expo. The bags. And then just chill for a minute. um At four o'clock around there, we're going to catch a bus to the theme park.
00:20:16
Speaker
Usually we go to Epcot for this first day. We'll do some chill stuff like living with the land. or Oh, yeah. Soaring over the world. Yeah, totally. Yeah, the the chill stuff. Yeah. We'll grab dinner, usually a quick service. And then if we're going to see Fantasmic or the fireworks, this is the day that we're going to do that. Just because we don't have to get up early the next morning. Correct. We'll park hop or something over to one of those shows. We're luminous. You know We'll just do, our goal is to like be chill. Right. But if we're going to stay up late, this is the night. Because we don't necessarily have an early morning. We don't necessarily a race on Friday. If we choose to get up early, yes fine.
00:20:51
Speaker
Right. And when I say we, I mean if I choose to get early, fine. But this is our late night. I mean, this is really the only night that we we stay out. Yeah, totally. So around 9, we're going to head back to the resort, and usually we're in bed by 10.
00:21:04
Speaker
Yep. I got my Mickey cartoons on and I'm ready to go to sleep. By 10.01. That's right. I do fall asleep quick. Yes. Okay. Anything else on that kind of expo day? No. All right. So let's move on to Friday. Again, assuming that this is princess weekend, we're still not running yet. Right. So Friday is our take it easy day. So everything we did yesterday or Thursday to take it easy, we're taking it easier. We might do an early morning park day.
00:21:29
Speaker
And I just don't sleep in. So like for me, I'm already up. I'm already kind of pacing. Erica's like, you know, give me the side eye under the covers like Either get back in bed or leave. You know? That is not. That's the vibe I get. Okay. That's the vibe, but that's not what I'm saying. What what are you saying?
00:21:48
Speaker
Like, if you want to go, go, but don't wake me up. That's what I just said. i just said, get back in bed or leave. That's what I just said. It has more to like the volume, like the, like. The intensity? The quietness. Like you, if you're going to be in the room, be quiet.
00:22:04
Speaker
but got it. i don't know how to do that either. Anyway, so. No, you'll pull out your laptop. You're click, click. I actually now i go to the lobby and Coronado Springs has that big like business center. Yes, yes. And I will set up my laptop and work and wait wait for you. right We might go to the park early. This could be a rope drop day. This could also be a 10 o'clock in the park day. We have we like have no agenda. No. on this easy day when it comes to park, pool, whatever we want to do. The whole point is to stay as stress-free as possible. So if that means AJ goes to the park by himself or goes and walks around or whatever, that's totally okay. We have given each other permission for that. yeah I've given Erica, even though i gave her a hard time about sleeping or whatever, you have permission. I think you know it. Yeah. to rest all you want. right Because that's what is the most stress less yeah for you. yeah That's what today's about. So anyway, if we head to the parks, it will be one of those things where we are like out by noon, 12 or 12. Noon and 12 are the same thing. Did you know that? Yes. Two. Something like that. We'll be out of the parks. We are not going to fight the heat. We're not going to fight the people, any of that stuff. So if we go to a park, we're we're gone. This is usually like a Hollywood Studios day. Yeah. I like to get there, personal preference, early, get Rise of the Resistance done. Totally. Yeah, one of the big ones. Yeah. Then I'd love doing Toy Story Mania. Again, we're not trying to hit every attraction. Annual pass or not, if we're going to enjoy the park, we just enjoy the things that are easy, not a lot of walking, but we still want to do. Yeah. Is that right? Yeah, I'm i'm like laughing to myself over here because you just said what I was literally, like this is after 24 years of marriage. 23 and a half. 23 and a half. we say We think the same things at the same time. yeah So I'm like, yeah, we said when we started this whole episode that it was we were assuming they did not have an annual pass. yeah um So if you don't have an annual pass, you're probably going to be like well, AJ and Erica, like I'm not spending this much money to go to the park for like three or four hours, right which we don't blame you. We wouldn't either. yeah
00:24:06
Speaker
We have had an annual pass when we've done this schedule. And we've also done this without an annual pass yes where we said, okay, we still want to be able to experience theme park stuff. We still want to be able to get pictures. we yeah We paid the money and then forgot about it. Like just let it go. yeah However much time you spend in the park is how much time you spend in the park. It's not a about this in this scenario for us. Mm-hmm.
00:24:28
Speaker
You and me. yeah It's not about maximizing the dollar amount yeah of that that ticket. right It's about, did we do the things we wanted to do and create the memories we wanted to create? yeah And sometimes that means we don't buy park tickets right because yeah the what will make us the happiest is saving the money, spending it on a sweatshirt instead. Right, but right, right. And there's lots of other things to do on property besides for go to the park. And besides Disney Springs.
00:24:54
Speaker
Yes. That's not even an option. But it's funny. Everybody always like, there's tons of other stuff to do. You can go to Disney Springs. It's always like the first on the list. yeah I don't know. You know what Disney Springs does? It costs you a ton of money. Well, it also gives me anxiety. Yeah.
00:25:10
Speaker
There's nothing fun about walking around it. And so you want to go in somewhere and spend money. Right. I would rather just go spend the money on a theme park ticket. Yeah. I'm like, take the Skyliner to another resort. Like eat at at one of their restaurants. Absolutely. Look at their shops. And that's usually how we spend the afternoon on this chill day. Yeah.
00:25:27
Speaker
Is we're getting out of the parks, away from the kids, you know, all that. And we will go to the pool. I mean, by three o'clock, usually we go to the pool because it's yeah warm enough, especially if it's princess weekend. It's warm enough by that time that even if you're not like,
00:25:40
Speaker
bikini by the pool you're like shorts and a t-shirt relaxing by the pool right you know kind of vibe yeah so we usually do that it's very relaxing um you like to read a book or listen to an audiobook or something like that yeah yep um we also you know ride the skyliner we'll take some boats somewhere we'll visit other resorts um and then usually it's dinner at another resort this night if there's not what we want at our resort we will skyliner we will bus we will something over to another and yeah other reserve Where do you like to go? We've said this before, but what are some of those like, we have a 10K in the morning, right? After this day, we have a 10K. Where are you going to go grab a bite to eat? Because you don't need to fully carb load, right but you do need to get you know a new a valuable meal. Yeah.
00:26:20
Speaker
So I like that chicken sandwich on the ciabatta bread or whatever. that's at the Riviera. Thank you. Yep. So we will Skyliner to the Riviera for that one. I like that. Yep. I like the Mexican bowl at Coronado Springs. Oh yeah. We love Coronado Springs for their food. The chicken sandwich, I'm assuming it's not seasonal, but the chicken sandwich that they have at French Quarter is really good. And ah I love that.
00:26:45
Speaker
Yeah. Don't go to ah Rodeo Roundup in Hollywood Studios and get all you can eat meat. No. That made me sick. Yeah, that did. Okay, so sticking with our schedule. Okay. We will do dinner, something like that. And then by 6.30, because we have a race the next day, 6.30 p.m., we are old farts that just got home from bingo. Right. Setting out our race stuff. Yep.
00:27:10
Speaker
Exactly the way we need it and want it because 2 a.m. is coming early tomorrow. Yeah. And so we're in the room. I mean, even if you're not tired, even if we're not asleep or whatever, the mind and the body are being turned down for the day yeah because we have a race in the morning. yeah And i I

Race Day Preparation and Logistics

00:27:28
Speaker
set out all my stuff. I know you do the same thing. You shower the night before a race or do you shower the morning of?
00:27:32
Speaker
I usually shower the night before. yeah um and I mean, you want to talk about like sentence about, because I'm not a morning person. I'm kind of grumpy when the alarm goes off at 2 a.m. You are? Kind of grumpy. I'm very grumpy. I didn't notice always think about like the first time we brought our daughters with us. Well, it was just, the first one was with Taylor. Yes. And she's like super bubbly and like, she's not really morning person, but she was so excited the race. She's seven on the Enneagram. And she's like,
00:28:01
Speaker
you guys, it's princess morning. And like, oh, she just was going crazy. And you looked at her and you were like, don't talk. Don't talk to mom. like I told her i said, you can talk to me right outside of the room. But yeah, I mean, i will I will shower the night before and I will lay out all of my stuff in the order in which I'm going to do it. no So like I... um I usually mix. I won't mix it up, but I'll have my Morton mix yeah ready, like the pre-race mix ready with the water bottle and the shaker bottle. I will lay out my makeup in the order that I'm going to put it on. That's funny. um I will put, we use bib boards to put our um race bib on. bond And so I have learned not to do all four because one time, actually multiple times, I've like ripped it sort of putting my costume on. Oh.
00:28:45
Speaker
So I will now, I just do like two of them. Although I did see this fun little hack the other day where someone says, if you put a pillow inside your outfit and put the bibboards on, and then you take the pillow out and then it allows for like the fluctuation of like your body. But anyway, so I'll at least do two bibboards and then I will load my fuel and everything into my, whatever I'm carrying. Oh, you like your backpack? Yeah, my backpack or my belt, whatever. um But yeah, like every last thing,
00:29:14
Speaker
you're eliminating now yes at 6.30 PM or 7 PM, you're eliminating anything you don't have to do in the morning. Right. Is that what I'm understanding? Because even, i don't care what time you get up, you're still going to, something's going to happen. You're going to be rushed. Like, I mean, hopefully not after listening to this podcast, but, but something, I feel like something may come up. And so you just want to do as much as you possibly can to prepare the night before. Yep. Hey, you're not tired. No. Okay. It's 6.30 PM. Yeah. You can't even imagine going to bed. So now you to maximize right now, getting all your stuff set Yes. Then yeah try to go to bed. Yeah. Try. That's the key word. So we talked about unplugging the phone. i also use like a sleep mask. Oh, yeah. um Which has like built-in headphones to listen to some sort of like white noise, canceling, whatever. Because if you are looking to fall asleep,
00:30:03
Speaker
like sometimes people will run by in the halls at like 11 or 12 when they're coming back the fireworks just finished and they're so excited yes and if you wake up that it's really hard to go back to sleep for a couple of hours so those are some tricks yep i think that wraps up our easy day yes all right erica it's finally yes race day it's not the big race but it's the 10k day for doing a challenge weekend at princess what time do we ah what time do we set that yeah our alarm goes off at Well, two or two 15. I set mine for two 15. Yeah.
00:30:33
Speaker
Yep. Yours is 2am. Right. And early. Yep. At three, we are leaving our resort room and recording a video normally on our way wrapped in our tinfoil. Some people might argue, wait a minute, I thought the buses start at 3. Why wouldn't you want to be there at the buses at 3? We've found, again, works for us, let the first bus, 2 or 3, with all the people who are dying to be on the bus, go ahead. I don't want to fight for a seat. You I mean? I want to be crammed next to people either. If we leave room at 3... and get to the bus at 315, there's still buses lined up. But now these buses are like waiting to fill up instead of, oh, crud, we can't take any more. Right. Does that make sense? So we can get a better seat. It's a little more chill. If you are a rope dropper, knock yourself out. You can be at the bus at three. Go ahead. But we don't wait too long. We like to be on the bus by 315.
00:31:28
Speaker
We, one time we waited and it was because we had the girls with us. yeah We didn't get on a bus till 3.30 and I started being like, oh my gosh, this was a mistake. This was a mistake. were like, we I'm never doing this again. So yes I know that doesn't seem like a big difference, but it really does matter. So our sweet spot we found is 3.15. If you're going to like err on the side of either direction, err on the side of being early, correct not late. That's right. Okay. So usually by about 3.45, we are going through security at Epcot. And at 4, we're doing gear check if we want to check anything. um And then we are headed to the corral. yeah so We probably don't gear check at the 10K. But I want to talk about corral start times here for a second if you're willing to do that. Because I want people to understand how your corral placement will impact now the rest of your day timing. right like it will like you When you start in the corral, will impact when you leave the race. So um do you... Go ahead.
00:32:23
Speaker
You don't mind if I do this? No. So what I did, I went back and looked at the pictures. Yes. of Because I always take a picture of like the fireworks going off, the last fireworks before you know over the start line before I go. Right. Right? get the You get the banner and all that stuff. So I looked at the timestamp on most of our corral placements. right So when I've been in corral A, 5 o'clock, when the race starts, that was when I went.
00:32:46
Speaker
Yeah. You know what i mean? Or right right after that. When I was in Corral B and I wasn't even didn't even go the first wave of B, it was 5.08. So there's only like an eight-minute difference, right? When I went out Corral C, it was 5.18. So the time, like, that's 10-minute difference instead of 8-minute difference. starts Corral D, this is like, there's just more people and more waves, yeah right? So when we've gone out of Corral D, I looked at the timestamp on the photo, it was 5.36. So like, it took...
00:33:15
Speaker
20 extra minutes to clear corral C where it only took eight minutes to clear corral A. Does that make sense? Yeah. This is where it just snowballs. Yeah. And I only bring it up not to scare you about your corral placement, but so you know that just because the race says it starts at five, you might be starting in corral E where we started at 6.12. Yeah. Yeah.
00:33:36
Speaker
Okay. So that now means careass someone who went out of Corral B might already be on the bus headed back to their resort by the time Corral E starts. So their day is going to look different. Yeah. Does that make any sense? That's the only reason i brought that up. yeah Not because I'm like, oh, being in this Corral is going to make your day better. Right. It just means like in the next thing on our notes, like we're talking about 730 finish line pictures that might not be the same for everybody. Right. but we average out at corral C or D, right? Like, does that make sense? Yeah. Okay. All right. Yeah.
00:34:09
Speaker
And we've said this before, but the only other thing I would add is that if you are in one of those later corrals, just be prepared like weather-wise that you're going to be waiting for a while. yeah So if it's cold or rainy, just know that you're not going to be leaving at five. You might be waiting for over an hour. And the temperature drops right before the sun comes up. Right. So know that the sun comes up at 630 or whatever. At about 615, that temperature dips first. Yeah. And it gets real cold. Anyway. all right. Back onto our schedule. So on average, this a 10K day. on On average. Yep. 730 finish line area of pictures. And around 745, we are you normally getting on the bus to go back to the resort. We don't hang in that finish line area too long, do we? We do not. No. Especially if it's cold.
00:34:50
Speaker
I know some people do. They like going to the food trucks and all that, whatever. We typically are ready to be showered. That's right. So around 8.15, we are getting back to the resort. AJ normally goes to pick up breakfast and brings it to the room. By 10, we are both normally showered and stretched and fed and relaxing in the room. Normally, we're doing our TheraBoots or foam rolling or something. Oh, yeah. Depending on the length of the race. Yep. At 11, AJ is watching Mickey cartoons again stalking. Yeah. You're welcome for putting that in the notes. Yeah. i
00:35:23
Speaker
I don't know if you know this. You're like a five-year-old with the Mickey cartoons? I don't watch them at home. No. But they they hit different at Disney World. yeah it's It's on a loop all day long. Oh, I know. It's so great. i love them. I love Mickey and I love Disney. I'm a huge Disney fan, but I'm like, we don't have our kids with us and we're watching Disney cartoons. Yeah, but you can watch HGTV at home.
00:35:44
Speaker
Can I though? Relax? Like in a relaxed state? No. But but way when I'm watching these cartoons, you are stocking the app for race photos. That's right. I'm literally laying there just like refreshing, waiting to see what PhotoPass photos have come through. That's right.
00:36:00
Speaker
um So around 12, normally we go get lunch at another resort. And then around three, AJ usually takes a nap. I do. It usually catches up with me yes that I just need you know need a nap because of early mornings a few times in a row.
00:36:15
Speaker
Yeah. Are you going to nap this year? No, not on this day. You know why Why? I plan to go to the Rise and Run meetup. Yes. And this is how much y'all mean to me, if you're listening. I hate Disney Springs, but I'm coming.
00:36:31
Speaker
I'm coming to make sure that I get my handshakes and hugs from the Rise and Run podcasters. Super excited to meet them in person, see them in person, meet any of y'all that are going to be around. We're excited about that.
00:36:43
Speaker
So at five, significant carb loading dinner. Yes, because we have a half marathon the next day. That's right. So this is when we get to eat. what What kind of food do you like to do here? Typically Mexican or yes ah the bowls from Fairfax Fair yeah at ah Hollywood Studios. That's inside the park. So that really kind of, you know, cheats a little because we ah can use our annual pass to go over and get that bowl in the park. But if we've got park tickets or whatever, we will go. And we love that.
00:37:11
Speaker
We've talked about it before on the podcast, that mashed potato and whatever protein you you choose, bowl, you know, with a little bit of veggies on there and whatever. And it's it's a great carb load option. Yep. Mexican is usually a go-to too. Yeah. f for Or if we don't even want to leave the resort. Right. We sat at our own, you know, Coronado Springs with a wonderful plate of Mexican rice and tortillas and yup chicken. So, yep. We usually do that and we're back to the room. Yep. Seven o'clock again, setting out all of our race stuff. Only this time there's usually more just because of fuel and all that good stuff. That's right. And ah then eight o'clock lights out. That's right.
00:37:49
Speaker
I think it's easier this night because you've had yeah race that day. Totally. Even if you didn't push it hard, whatever, it's just an exciting day. Yeah. Right. So it's usually easier to fall asleep. Anything else on that 10 K day?
00:38:00
Speaker
no I think it. Let's move on to the main events. At least I call it the main event. Do you call mar half marathon day the main event? Yeah. Unless it's the marathon weekend, then yes. Okay. Nope. We're assuming princess We're assuming princess. Two o'clock, Erica's alarm goes off. 2.15, alarm goes off. This is going to feel very similar to yesterday because the bus schedule, everything's the same. So 3 a.m., m we're leaving our resort room. 3.15, we're on the bus. 3.45, we're going through security and using the last real bathroom.
00:38:27
Speaker
Yeah. At the ah security. You forgot say that about yesterday. Well, at the 10K, I'm not worried about it as much. Right, yeah. You know, but half marathon day, there's a Actually, I shouldn't tell people this because then they might want to use it.
00:38:40
Speaker
Okay, fine. No, you should tell them. I like you guys enough. on Right before you go through security... From the bus side of things, not from the parking lot side, from the bus side. there's And there might be one on the other side.
00:38:52
Speaker
but I haven't used it. There is. There's a bathroom. It's a real bathroom. Their men's room has three or four toilet stalls. thought were say three or four people lined up. Stand by. That's true. I'm getting there. Yes. Because this is Princess Weekend, we're assuming. Oh, yes, yes. three or four, you know, ah number two stalls, okay? and and Thank you.
00:39:13
Speaker
Well, yeah, and some urinals, right? So you go in there, right? And when you walk up to this bathroom on Princess Weekend, and the women's restroom has how many how many people waiting in it?
00:39:24
Speaker
30 plus. 30 plus. Okay. Yeah. Men's room on princess weekend. Walk in, you got the place to yourself. I mean, literally yourself. Yeah. Like you just walk in there might be someone cleaning the bathroom. Like that's it. Marathon weekend, other weekends, it's a little more balanced. Yeah. But princess weekend, you get all the real bathrooms to yourself if you're a guy. Yeah. Now, I will say that even though the women's line is long, don't be intimidated by that because this first real restroom has lots of stalls. So the line moves very quickly. The one that comes after go through security, that line is like you're going to wait longer. So use that first one. That's my suggestion. Any other thoughts on that? I use that first one as my first one.
00:40:05
Speaker
You know I'm going to stop probably two more times before we cross the start line. You're right. You're right. Okay. All right. So four o'clock, we're gear checking stuff. Again, it depends on on the length of the race. I have started gear checking stuff on the half because I like to bring my um recovery shoes yeah and a protein mix, drink whatever. So I will gear check that stuff. Then we head to the corral.
00:40:31
Speaker
That's right. Four o'clock or so, we're in the corrals. Don't forget that those corrals close. So make sure you know what time that's added in your digital event guide. At five o'clock, the race is starting.
00:40:42
Speaker
yeah Boom, we're off. Well, unless you're in corral G, which we were for the marathon. right Then two in two hours, we're off. After this half marathon, we're assuming half marathon, I would say based off our pictures and whatever, usually around nine o'clock is when you and are getting back on the bus. We've stretched. We've done all this stuff. We've gotten a cider from the booth or whatever. Nine o'clock, we're back on the bus. 9.30, 9.45, something like that, we're back at the resort.
00:41:09
Speaker
And I'm picking up breakfast. By the way, comment there. There's always lots of buses lined up, especially after the half. Totally. Their line looks long. You're not going to wait long. No. I mean, they literally get you out. So don't worry about that. They usually have like another bus waiting behind the current bus. Sometimes they're loading the bus behind bus that's being loaded and they're going to get you out. So don't be intimidated by that. So 9.30, I'm grabbing breakfast, especially today. I go get protein heavy breakfast. Yeah. They're would you like bacon or sausage? I'm like, yes. Both. um and so you know just bring that back to the room you and i will chow down on that while we get you showered stretched eaten put your feet up on the wall you know you've done that trick yes yeah um and this is the day when we will actually probably head over to the pool or the hot tub which is why we like coronado springs because it has a great hot tub a big one And you'll meet all the other run Disney racers. Yes, you will. Yes, you will. The pool, because room temperature or like a normal temperature water is actually really good for your muscles. And the hot tub, because it feels good, right? Like you love the jets and all that stuff. Do you remember the time we went to the hot tub at Coronado Springs and somebody, some reason, mean, was ice cold. Do remember this? And someone decided to like empty it and refill it that night before. The night before. Yeah.
00:42:32
Speaker
on ah On a race weekend? Yeah. And we were all standing there like, what in the world? Why would you do that? We were not happy. I'm sure they had a reason. Yeah. Like there was a floater or something. Who knows? Oh, gross. Anyway, did we ah again, Coronado Springs because we like to stay there a lot. We love that chicken quesadilla they have. Oh, yeah. That's delicious.
00:42:52
Speaker
And now because we've run and all the running's done, yeah probably a poolside drink. That's correct. Or two. And so we will do that. We'll usually do poolside food. yeah And we're not in a hurry to get in a park or anything at this point.
00:43:06
Speaker
After the pool, if needed, shower, maybe take a nap. I probably took a nap at the pool and then I'll take a nap at the room. The thing though is what we don't do is get back and immediately get in bed, right? We do all of our stretching. We either get in the pool and move, we go walk and move, like we do some sort of movement. We do the bike. We have done that. That's more of a marathon weekend thing for us, but we've been known to do it on a half where five to 10 minutes of a no resistance spin if your resort has a bike really makes your recovery a whole lot better. So you notice this nap is like later. I still want the nap, but it's not in my best interest to nap the minute I get back. No, yeah. Okay. Great. I like to pack up at this point so that whatever the rest of our day holds, we can enjoy that without the stress of like, oh no, we have to pack. Right. And I think of when you go on a Disney cruise and you go to Castaway Cay and it's like the last day of your cruise and you're literally on Castaway thinking about how you have to pack when you get back on the boat.

Post-Race Activities and Travel Tips

00:44:07
Speaker
Yeah. Same thing here where you're like, you're just worried about, oh, I have travel. I got to do my my airline check-in, all this stuff. I just try and do it all now. Yeah. At like three in the afternoon so that whatever we decide to do for the rest of the day, it's already packed and I just have like clothes and toiletries set up. yeah You do the same, right? Yeah, totally. I've even done laundry. Yes. You it takes an hour and 20 minutes or whatever, but the resort laundry is really nice. Yeah.
00:44:30
Speaker
costs you a few bucks. It's easy. Go home with clean clothes. Great. um Four o'clock, we're usually getting out and doing something, moving, whatever. yeah We will go to the park. If we go to a park, yes, you're smiling. It's Magic It's Magic Kingdom. We might, it you know, yeah, we usually save it to the end. yeah This is where we get some of our pictures. We ride our favorites, right? My favorites, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean.
00:44:56
Speaker
People mover. What are yours? Those are the, that's on your list, right? Yeah. Pirates is like my go-to. I like all of them like equally after that. Yeah. really And a lot of it is just the vibe of being in the park. Right. yeah Right. Getting pictures taken. We take our medals, get some pictures. We went with our friends, Zach and Jesse this year, and they talked us into the new country bear jamboree. Uh-huh. did you think about that? It was cute. Yeah. And when they said, oh, you have to do it, i was like, I don't think so. I'm in my 40s, you know? Coming from the person that wants to watch Mickey cartoons all day in the room. Touche. Touche.
00:45:29
Speaker
I would say that Country Bear is a step above. Above? Well, as far as like age appropriate level, yeah. Yeah. You take that back. ah Oh my gosh. Anyway. At this point, we are probably staring for the fireworks, yeah whatever, and then headed back to the room. But because we're smart people already packed, we're no stress. Head back to the room at 10, 10.30, something like that, going to bed. And we do our best not to book an early morning flight if we don't have to. That's right. And we just go to bed knowing that we're just going to wake up easy peasy tomorrow. Yeah. Now I do want to say that Monday is normally our travel home day because we have to get home for work and kids and all the things. yeah Um, but we said this a couple episodes ago with Doug and Michelle from rope drop on deck and rope drop radio. yup Um, if you have the capacity to stay and you want to do massive, like, you know, full days, like a vacation after, yeah, this is when you would want to do it.
00:46:28
Speaker
Not before the race after. So, um, that's my little two cents, but on Mondays, normally we are traveling home. We have traveled home on Sunday as well, just out of necessity. Yeah. I don't recommend that. Yeah. We don't recommend it. No. But you know know that, yes, we're now everything seems all spread out and easy peasy. That's because this is our like ideal way do it. Right, right, right, right. Yeah. um So we are going to, I'm doing air quotes, sleep in until 9.30. That is sleeping in. but That is not sleeping in, whatever. You don't think that's sleeping in? No. Okay. I mean, I wake up early like you do, but then I just close my eyes and roll back over. You can't do that. Once my eyes are open, that's it. No.
00:47:09
Speaker
Okay. Anyway, 930, we are going to get up and have a resort breakfast. Around 11, we are going to check out and catch the Mirrors Connect bus. That's usually our go-to way of getting back to the airport.
00:47:21
Speaker
What's your resort breakfast go-to? oh um i really love like the tacho bowl thing that has like the tater tots and the bacon bits and the egg and cheese yes that's delicious and the scallions on top but is that what they're called scallions man that just takes it up a notch yeah that's good i like that too they do that with gravy on it yeah and i don't like that version as much Sorry, that was just like a knee-jerk reaction.
00:47:47
Speaker
Sorry for one that's listening. bagels are really good. Oh, yeah, the bagels I'm not sure why. I'm sure they're like Probably because we don't eat bagels on a regular basis. Yeah, I think they're probably like pre-made packaged and they just microwave them. Yeah. But they're so good. I don't know why.
00:48:02
Speaker
Okay. Okay. So, yeah, 11, we're going to check out and catch the Mirrors Connect bus. Around 12, we will arrive at MCO. And then at 2.30, will be sat and fly home. Yes.
00:48:14
Speaker
And just be ready for the airport. Yeah. We made it sound like, oh yeah, we just fly home. No. But the baggage check-in and all that stuff. It's a pain. where you know We usually take that bus to get there a few hours early because it's it's a lot. Get pre-check. Get that TSA pre-check if for no other reason than the Orlando airport. That is, I mean, I feel like that's 90% of why I have it at least. It's all you need it for. yeah I mean, it'll benefit you somewhere else, but get for MCO. It'll save you a lot of time and stress. Yeah.
00:48:43
Speaker
And then we go home, you're right, and we just be sad. That's right. Till the next race weekend. Yes. Awesome. All right, we made it through. I have no idea how long it took us to to say all that stuff. Hopefully this episode isn't too long.
00:48:55
Speaker
Hopefully not. Any other thoughts or tips or advice on just kind of the order in which we do things? Obviously, if you've got your kids, that impacts stuff. if you yeah If you need to, and we've been there and we will probably have to do it again. We came in on Friday, blazing hot and left on Sunday. you know like We understand that that happens. yeah you know You just have to adjust for that. yeah right But any other thoughts, Erica, before we move on to our wonderful interview with Trevor?
00:49:22

No, I think that's it. All right. Awesome. Hopefully that was helpful. um We're going to transition over to our talk with Trevor. Trevor's a friend of ours. He's running his first half marathon at Disney in just, what is it, like five weeks? Yes. So we're going to catch up with him and see how his training is going.

Hey, Trevor, welcome back to the podcast, my friend. Thank you. Thank you. Great to be here. Yeah. So tell me tell us, how how is how is training going? let's Just give us an update on on how are you feeling? it's It's actually going really well. So this morning I did run. It was um the end of week 14 of 21 for me. So I guess that's officially two-thirds of the way in. And so far feeling good.
00:50:06
Speaker
There's days when I'm surprised at how little the training program asked me to do. And then there's days when it's like, wow, that's a really, really long run. But I'm trusting the training.
00:50:17
Speaker
and And so far, it's going really well. That's awesome. Has anything else come up that's surprised you or kind of caught you off guard? Honestly, and I'm not just saying this because we're friends, but the podcast has really prepared me well. So the big surprises and gotchas have not caught up

Trevor's Training Journey

00:50:33
Speaker
to me yet. I feel like I've gone into this prepared. I'm trying really hard to stay on the program and not try to do too much or go outside the confines of the program. I honestly, at this point, thought I probably would be battling some kind of injury because i I've had a little bit of a history of foot problems in the past, plantar fasciitis and stuff like that. And that hasn't happened. so that's been a nice surprise. And I can probably thank being fitted with the right shoes for that. Yeah.
00:50:59
Speaker
Um, but honestly, you guys have done a great job of preparing me. Now that doesn't mean I haven't learned some of my own lessons. So I've learned to listen to my body. I've learned I can't eat and drink whatever I want the night before a long run and feel as good as I could feel if I had made better choices. So I'm, you know, that's reinforcing some of the training you guys passed along. But, um, but to answer your question, no real surprises. It's going, it's going well. I feel good.
00:51:28
Speaker
That's awesome. You were concerned, I think, when we first chatted about like your work schedule, right? Like you know being in the airline industry, right? like And just finding the time and and you know sticking to the plan. How's that going?
00:51:40
Speaker
It's been a challenge. I understand, i recognize that my schedule's not unique. I mean, we're all, at least most of us in our group, are friends or parents and spouses and sons and daughters and life's busy.
00:51:55
Speaker
I mean, everybody's trying to balance. I travel for a living, AJ, you travel for a living, Erica, you have more of a set schedule, but it's very much full time. And we we've set these goals and we have to figure out a way to carve the time.
00:52:08
Speaker
And so for me, that looks like going into my training plan every week, looking at my work schedule and trying to overlay a new plan. Sometimes that means moving things around. Sometimes it means having a run on consecutive days when I'd rather have ah rest day in between. But i'm I'm doing the best I can to make it a priority because I've set this goal. And so far, it's it's working.
00:52:32
Speaker
It's been different every week, but I have to stay with it. But so far, it's working. That's awesome. Have you learned anything about yourself, right? Like your your personality type or your habits or anything like that? ah You know, that's a good point. I have. I have. I i honestly, going into this at 52, wasn't 100% sure that i could do it.
00:52:50
Speaker
um physically with regard to the time schedule and all the other things that are pulling on me. So it's given me a lot of confidence. Honestly, so far, i've I'm pleased with how it's going. And I feel confident that if I had to, I could probably finish tomorrow or the day after. um without At this point in my training, now I'm i'm still working up to the point where I'm going to do the half mile or half marathon distances, but I feel like I'm in a position where I can actually finish it now. I feel stronger and my pants are a little bit looser. That's awesome. It was fun to watch you run yesterday. I'm i'm being genuine here. Like it was fun to, um, you know, I know there's probably like you had like a, you know, I want to keep up to, you know, AJ, like all that. i don't want to slow him down. Like take all that aside. Right. Like it was just fun to see that your form is good and your breathing was good. Right. You're not going too hard, too fast, too long. Like I was very encouraged. Like genuinely, I know that you, uh, what's your longest distance so far that you've tackled on your way to 13.
00:53:54
Speaker
it's ah It was nine. right Nine miles I've done. With warm-up and cool-down, it ended up being just over 11. So that was about week and a half ago. And and it it it was challenging. I mean, I have to admit, it was not easy to yeah walk and get into my truck right after I finished. But that's expected. Right. And I felt great the next day. And it's just part of the process, challenging my body. well yeah I enjoyed our time together yesterday, too. i mean Invariably, when you're trying to jog with someone, you're you're not going to be the same pace. Right. Ninety nine people out of a hundred. I would guess you're not the same, but I enjoyed the fellowship and I appreciate you showing me the heart rate.
00:54:33
Speaker
um with some more detail and I used it today. So that was that was good. I'm glad to hear that. That's good. Trevor, what are you looking forward to the most now that you're like two thirds of the way through? Has that anything new come up? or you What are you excited about?
00:54:45
Speaker
Honestly, the easy answer is I'm looking forward to Finishing. I'm looking forward to the reward, which is four days down there with my wife and you guys and and and finishing in the environment. There's been some anticipation here and excitement going into it. And and that sense of accomplishment that I'm sure I'll feel, God willing, that that I finish it. Everything goes according to plan. And then I'm looking forward to what my next goal might be. So i've I've not, I'm not a natural runner. I don't love it. I don't look forward to it all the time, but it is a great feeling of accomplishment to get out there and

do it. And I can't imagine that I'm going to just quit cold turkey. So I'm looking forward to finishing a and B seeing what the future may bring.
00:55:36
Speaker
so Super exciting. what What advice do you have for someone out there maybe that's like you or maybe you know just coming kind of coming up behind you in their training schedule you know and they're looking at nine miles and thinking, oh no. you know like what What's your advice now that you've done it?
00:55:51
Speaker
you know Honestly, the the first time I did five or seven or nine, and i didn't think I could do it. and When I hear you guys talk about 20, it blows my mind.
00:56:02
Speaker
Doing twice what I just did. That's what they're doing now in preparation for marathon training. Wow. But trusting your training, staying disciplined, you know, three workouts a week, trying to rest, trying to eat right, all of the things associated with that and continuing to slowly challenge your body in these smaller increments.
00:56:23
Speaker
It's surprising what you can do and it's very rewarding what you can do. That's awesome. So excited for each other. Thank you. I appreciate your support guys. It's been, it's been a journey two thirds of the way through and looking forward to the finish line. Good. We'll see you at marathon. Well, actually we'll see you on Tuesday, but we'll see at marathon weekend after we see you for several Tuesdays at our own house. great Thank you for having me on again. Awesome. We're proud of you, my friend.

Man, I am so excited for Trevor. i know Do you remember the first time that we ran like nine miles? Like you're you're like, I can do anything. And I thought I was going to die. Yeah. It was like a double whammy. yeah But this the accomplishment that you feel when you hit a distance you've never hit before yeah is awesome. And so I'm so excited for him. So excited. He's got a few more long runs to go, but i'm he's got this. Yeah, totally. Totally. Yeah, that's awesome. Oh my gosh. Well, we just want to say thank you guys for listening and for all of your messages. We have just been getting so many amazing emails and and reviews. and And it's not about us.
