Danny Price: Hey, everybody. We're back. Welcome to Table Talk Discussions. This is our first episode in a hot second. It's been about three or four months since we've done anything. Um,

Shane: Yeah, all summer.

Danny Price: I know, all summer. We're back. um So. Just wanted to... let you guys know um we're gonna be doing regular episodes again this is back in the swing of things i know it was kind of tough we had I...

Danny Price: I wanted to start back up in August and personally i just had a ton of stuff in august and august is normally kind of like my a month where things kind of taper off from the summer and it was just not that way we just had So many different camps, so many different things. I've just been incredibly busy with. Personal life. you know Things have been great. not Not a problem, but just lots of different things going on. so It's been hard to get back into it, but we're finally back at the very end of September. Before we get to October, we're finally back.

Danny Price: Um. Yeah. I'm excited. Shane, are you excited?

Shane: Yeah. I'm super excited. I'm glad to be finally... Doing this talk. It was interesting, too, because in September, it also kind of worked out where Tony was preaching. And so. It it would have been more either having him on, doing his... yeah I'm talking about his sermons. or Me having to talk about them and I was gone.

Danny Price: Right.

Shane: And so it was just a lot. But no, I'm super excited that we're back.

Danny Price: Yeah, no, it's it's exciting. And then I did... and I talked to Tony about this. We still might throw something together. I might see if I can. corner him for an hour or so, but we wanted to do a little bit of a summer recap of the sermons.

Danny Price: um We did a great series and I really liked it.

Shane: Okay.

Danny Price: The whole a biblical series.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: It was fantastic. And I wish. um you know, part of me wishes I would have just kept it going. It's just, I know realistically it couldn't have happened, but. i was gonna maybe ask him and corner him for an hour and say hey would you want to just kind of revisit some of the things. from the summer. Even if you were on that too, that might be fun. I don't know if that's going to happen for sure yet, but I wanted to, I wanted to do that. So we'll see.

Danny Price: So.

Shane: Bye -bye. Yeah, that'd be good.

Danny Price: Anyways. Um. So first of all, while we were gone... What happened with you, Shane? I'll tell, you I'll tell everyone about myself after, but.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: you You go first. What happened?

Shane: Well, it was a good summer. um Like I said, I actually i really loved the sermon series. It was fun to study each of those things. um getting into all these different things that Christians...

Shane: kind of can fall into and believe and um and how you know how some of them aren't really even.

Danny Price: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

Shane: where they're massive. Um. where you just go easily point out, go, Oh, that's so untrue. But, but. But you got to be careful because it's a slippery slope. And so just digging into the word on those things.

Shane: So that was a lot of fun. um

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: You know, and then personally, um just a lot. going on um we got away we had that family vacation to bear lake which you did you go on that

Danny Price: I came for the very last like last two days of that. I was there for a little bit.

Shane: Okay, yeah. good um So we did the Bear Lake thing and Tonya and I got away on a ride. for an anniversary, a motorcycle ride. And then I got to do a five -day motorcycle ride of like, I think i we did 1 ,700 miles.

Shane: um Going up through and hit.

Danny Price: It's crazy.

Shane: Including Utah, we had four states, and so that was awesome. And yeah, so that that was probably about the big things I did. um And then, you know, fun stuff at church.

Shane: where All the kids had their youth camps. and

Danny Price: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

Shane: We had the men's retreat, which was an awesome weekend. And um I guess my staff the staff says I'm using the word awesome a lot lately. so

Danny Price: Awesome. It was very awesome

Shane: Which I guess that's a good, you know. It's repetitive, but it's it's a good word. um And then... um What was it? I was one more thing. Oh, and ah we had a great VBS.

Shane: So it's a lot of a lot of great stuff over the summer. And then one more thing. But. i'll What about you? What about your summer before I talk about the other thing?

Danny Price: Yeah. Man, it was it was a lot. so beginning of the summer like kind of when we kind of started to like trickle off we had our baby so we had nora um so she was born me

Shane: oh yeah, I should have mentioned, you know, having another grandbaby.

Danny Price: Well. there out There you go.

Shane: Hopefully Hannah won't listen to this.

Danny Price: No, you have so many now, it's just hard to track. So yeah, so May 13, she was born. everything went great with the delivery all that was great and then third baby so you know we're a little outnumbered but honestly there's only been a few moments where i've been like oh my gosh like there's certain times trying to get out the door or doing things out where i'm like i don't have enough hands to do the things that need to get done but in general it's been great um She's sleeping a lot better now, so it's been fantastic.

Shane: Yeah.

Shane: delete

Danny Price: And honestly Hannah gets up with her more. that I ever would. you know just being able to to breastfeed. So it's hard for me at least to like complain about sleeping ever, even in the beginning phases of my Canada's all of that. So.

Danny Price: I am very, very blessed that way.

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: Anyways. So that's been great. um And that launched me right into summer, which... summer with us was just fantastic we had it wasn't It was the same as as far as last year in terms of...

Danny Price: the amount of kids that came through camp because we're just really at capacity. So if you don't know, you know, I work at big Canyon, which is, uh, Christian summer camp. I'm not, well, I keep saying summer camp. It's a Christian camp. We mainly focus on summer.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Summer is our Superbowl, a three month long Superbowl that we do. And. Where does that capacity like we have? about 150 you know worth of people's space that we can you know host for each group and we're just hitting that or close to that for almost every group that we have and it's like we we don't really have a big ability to expand unless we build which were

Danny Price: focusing on but right now i mean our summers are just packed like every single day we had a camp except for fourth of july we were it was either there was a couple times where it was like a camp that left that day or a camp that arrives that day but every single day besides the fourth of july we had a camp There was not one other day off.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: um i got time off individually and you know different people do because we schedule that but it was It was crazy. So we had the best in terms of our staff was the best staff we've ever had. Um, I feel like it was as smooth as it's ever been. We're just getting better and better with our program and the way we schedule and the way we do things.

Danny Price: And then, yeah, this thematic. people that came through. Like I said, like we can't get any more people through than we can right now, but that being the case. We just had a lot of life transformation. A lot of people that got baptized either at camp or right after camp when they went back to church. A lot of groups choose not to.

Danny Price: have their kids get baptized at camp because they want their parents and everyone to be there, which I totally, I totally respect.

Shane: yeah

Danny Price: I totally agree with that. Um, some Some camps will even have their parents come up and do it like at the lake that we have, is which i which I think is cool.

Shane: ah That's cool.

Danny Price: um But tons of people got baptized. Tons of people, you know, made a commitment where to step towards the Lord. So that was awesome. So very successful from that standpoint. not just like from the business or like.

Shane: uh -huh

Danny Price: numbers side. Um. And then let's see here. What else? Yeah. So Bear Lake trip. We just recently went out and saw. With you guys, Hannah's aunt and uncle.

Shane: Oh yeah.

Danny Price: Like, kind of Tahoe area. Um,

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: That was really fun. and then I'm trying to think of anything else that's been like major. You need big stuff. Just been a lot of like little medium things. Nothing crazy. I'm trying to think.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Hannah's going to come to me later after the episode and go, you don't remember that? And it was going to be something I forgot.

Shane: You didn't.

Danny Price: so

Shane: Yeah, no, I definitely feel.

Danny Price: Kids' birthdays, all that stuff, yeah.

Shane: I definitely felt like it was a summer of just a bunch of little things. But yeah, we we didn't have a big trip either.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: It was more just a bunch of little ones. um and yeah no And Camp, it's been so awesome to just to watch. That'll grow and yeah, I'm super excited. We have that dinner Sunday to talk about more of the future.

Danny Price: Mm -hmm.

Shane: and um Yeah. And it's just been cool seeing, hearing Brian's vision about. how that's growing. so

Danny Price: yeah no it's gonna be good so he's talking Shane's talking about we have a we call it our fall roundup we have that every October -ish. the date moves here and there, but really right now, like peak color in the fall when we're a little bit slower, um, we do a big you know fundraiser dinner and we don't market it as like.

Danny Price: Hey, we're trying to get a ton of money for this. It's more. kind of a vision sort of someone, you know, so -called vision sharing night. Um, there is going to be an ask and we always have an ask about like some smaller project we're doing, but it's more about casting to like, Hey, here's what we're going to do. in the future When we haven't quite launched a capital campaign, you know, there will be one coming eventually for kind of the next phase of camp. Um, We're getting really close to that, but this is more just.

Danny Price: hey partner with us in some smaller ways but really just trying to grow our base of support just because For a while we were... a little bit more stagnated in terms of getting people interested in camp because we were kind of at a point where we were we had kind of reached an equilibrium with camp like we were the right amount of activities the right amount of lodging the right amount of dining space like everything was kind of self -sufficient and then all of a sudden we have all this demand

Danny Price: And we're just getting crushed with group inquiries. Like I have to respond to at least one or two a day of people. who are asking hey can we come for a camp at some point during the year and i tell them no because we're we're literally quite literally booked out for every day of the summer and then every weekend in the winter spring and so and fall Like literally every weekend.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: I mean. through the through next year. so

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: it's a good problem to have but this is more of like hey now that we're full like we're looking towards you know expanding, which is which is fun. It's very exciting. So that's what we're going to do on Sunday. That's what he was talking about.

Danny Price: So, anyways.

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: Um, Did you want to talk about your thing that you did?

Shane: Oh, and it Yeah. So I was just kind of my last, the last thing I ended with, so I was gone.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: so Tony did a three -week series, and part of there's a couple reasons for that. One... um You know, he's been Pat. Preaching in the past, and when you do a lot of preaching, you... you ah Doing a series is kind of a...

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: Something you always want to do every now and then because it's just different than preaching one -offs. um So I wanted to give him an opportunity to do that every so often. ah but it was just a good time to do that because I had two weekends in a row, one with a...

Shane: Um, couple that was getting the um, goes here to the church, um Lucas and Jordan, and they wanted to get married in San Diego. So went down there for that, but then went straight from there up to Tahoe for, it was a, I got a really awesome week.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: There's a church called Bayside in California that we've been connected to for about seven years.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: Bella actually... She... I've talked about it before. she's in They have a gap year program. um It's called Thrive College.

Danny Price: Mhm.

Shane: and then They also have a um conference that we go to probably every other year um for the last like seven years.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: It's called Thrive, the conferences. I've been connected with it. I love it. It's a great church. they They're a church of about 20 ,000 people. Um, Bye.

Danny Price: So these medium, medium, decent size.

Shane: Yeah, one of these medium -sized churches.

Danny Price: Yeah. ah

Shane: And... um

Danny Price: Let's see.

Shane: So anyway, they had a...

Danny Price: It's insane.

Shane: Roundtable. in Tahoe. And so went to the round table and it was basically just 12 pastors. and four or five of their key leaders and just got to pick their brains about all sorts of leadership stuff, preaching stuff.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: We had these preaching exercises we had to do. got graded by this one guy who I really love his preaching. His name's Mark Clark.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: Um... And... um Yeah. So learned a lot about preaching learned and then just made.

Danny Price: What did he say? like um I don't know if you feel comfortable sharing, like what did he say about your preaching specifically like for you?

Shane: um he He talked about filler words.

Danny Price: Too many dad jokes. too

Shane: No, he talked about filler words. Like I use the word um. A lot.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: And, and. And then another was... ah The idea of... Sometimes. Um...

Shane: sounding. like I can be And it's funny because I actually criticize other people on this. I critique people on this exact same thing.

Danny Price: Huh.

Shane: sounding cri sounding Maybe too excited about something you're not actually that excited about so that it it's hard for people to know the difference of oh Well, this is something that is you really should be paying attention right now.

Shane: Like, this is...

Danny Price: give me and and give me an example like or give me like what you're to like break that down like i'm like i'm

Shane: Like maybe...

Danny Price: Five.

Shane: Like maybe just telling a story or just talking about something that. That... is not really that. Important. to the theology or the point of the sermon and then but you have the same emphasis in it as you do when you get to the key point or the theology of the sermon.

Danny Price: Oh, I see.

Danny Price: Oh, okay.

Shane: And so the listener sometimes kind of has a hard time to tell Like.

Danny Price: Like, what's and what's the important thing that I'm supposed to be tracking to?

Shane: Yeah, what's the most important thing?

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: and um And we talk a lot, just a lot of talk about how... you know, people don't.

Danny Price: Oh.

Shane: Poop. put enough

Danny Price: I lost Shane.

Shane: People don't realize how much of what we learn comes from how we listen, like what we're listening to.

Danny Price: Hold on guys.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: like So. you know the The speaker has a lot of responsibility in that. So, um yeah.

Danny Price: Got it. Got it.

Shane: So, I mean, those were like the two.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: big things um that... I kind of got. hit on the, you know, the rest was is actually pretty just positive, but you know, like, Hey, you might want to. Tweak this or think about that.

Shane: um

Danny Price: Interesting. Okay. Yeah, I'm i'm curious. just because of personally I want to work on my public speaking, but also like. I'm curious for someone who's been doing it for so long. Is that hard to hear that stuff? Or do you like, I mean, you're kind of more of that.

Danny Price: Always wanted to grow a person.

Shane: Yeah, I mean, you it's hard it's hard, but you all i mean you you put yourself in that.

Danny Price: and You like that?

Shane: I... purposely put myself in situations like that, right? I mean, you know I knew what I was signing up for. um

Danny Price: Sure. Yeah.

Shane: you know So you want... Yeah, I think, you know. I mean, if we love so doing something, you want to be as good as. Yeah. add it as you can, so.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Um, Yeah. So anyway, it it was good.

Danny Price: Cool. We're good.

Shane: And, you know, and then just built a good relationship with them. Like literally one night we just stayed up and played Secret Hitler until like midnight. um

Danny Price: Just like having fun with.

Shane: Yeah, having fun and yeah, so

Danny Price: The pastors. That's fun.

Shane: So a lot of work, but a lot of fun.

Danny Price: That's good.

Shane: So.

Danny Price: Well, cool. Well, yeah, there's there you guys go.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: There's our summer. you know ish recap

Shane: Recap. yeah

Danny Price: Um. So just to kind of cast a little vision. um we're just kind of switching gears here to the next phase of what's going on with the podcast so <unk> As far as you know as as it stands right now, the plan right now is to keep the podcast going. We're going to do regular episodes every week as much as it's... you know, possible. There might be a week or two we have to take off because of personal reasons or whatever, but...

Danny Price: um Unless there's something like that, we're going to keep every you know week regular with the episodes probably coming out. on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. um And then we're going to keep it with sermon recaps or sermon discussions. which means we'd love to get questions. Again, we're going to continue regardless of the questions or not. We're not expecting any like crazy.

Danny Price: you know I love listener interactions, but we're not going to. depend on that only for the questions like i'll be coming up with stuff i'll talk to shane and we'll work together on that if there's not listener questions but As always, we'd always prefer to be hitting on things that you guys are actually curious about.

Danny Price: or i just want us to talk about. so There's that. And then we also have some special episodes we're working on. There's been a bunch that we've had in the works for a long time. um I kind of had to push the timeline back a little bit on some of those, but There are going to be different things that we're going to release here and there that are just specific about a topic. or whatever.

Danny Price: So yeah, so that's that's kind of the the vision. um As far as this Sunday, we're gonna the rest of this episode, we're just going to be talking about what happened this Sunday. which If you were not here at church, this is our anniversary Sunday.

Danny Price: which is really cool. um

Shane: yeah

Danny Price: It's honestly one of my favorite Sundays. And you know i did I know we did our episode about this last year. And I think I said the same thing. It's one of my favorites. It's really fun just to see where. the church has been. This is 18 years of Mountain View Fellowship, which It's crazy, because Shane, you...

Danny Price: you know, planet the church. So this is you being in ministry in Utah for 18 years, which is insane.

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: So. how What we were your thoughts? how did you How do you feel about that?

Shane: um You know, every year it's like it's kind of a surreal thing. It is weird to really think about how long it is. um I remember feeling like I was at my other churches for a long time. And the first church I was at full time was.

Shane: Eight years, and the second one was... ah Well, actually it was nine and eight. Nine and eight years. And, you know, so I've. doubled those and um

Danny Price: wow Wow, yeah.

Shane: Yeah, and um and yet it's...

Danny Price: Yes.

Shane: crazy because I tell Tanya all the time he doesn't i get It feels like it's been so quick. um

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: And honestly, a lot of that is because i just I really, truly love everything about doing ministry in Utah. I mean, i mean obviously, there's the hard things. there's

Danny Price: Sure.

Shane: conflicts there's things that we've had to go through that have been horrible but but the all All in all, we definitely just...

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: I feel so confident in the call God has put on us here, and we we don't ever doubt that. And we're weird. just very confident in it. And that just makes the time go really fast. So one, just the surrealness of that, of how long it's been.

Shane: But two, it's I mean, we're in it. I mean, if you listen to the sermon It's an exciting season of fruit. Right now.

Danny Price: Yeah, yeah

Shane: Um, You know, and it kind of feels like we're in this season where, OK, we put in a lot of hard work for 15 years and now we're just like literally trying to.

Shane: keep up with what God's doing. um You know, and.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: uh that's That's just a super exciting thing. And people were excited. We got a lot of great conversations. um We had the fun barbecue in the evening.

Shane: That was a lot of fun.

Danny Price: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

Shane: um Very chill. Nothing big. The one thing that stuck. Stunk about the barbecue was... I... I tell... I i literally told Tanya as soon as I went home, I was like, well, I'm never doing that again.

Shane: um where that The talk.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: um yeah You weren't there because you had to work.

Danny Price: I wasn't there. I had to work.

Shane: But I did.

Danny Price: yeah

Shane: I did it like I think it was like 12 minute talk. And it just... If anyone's listening to this, it like they'll probably go, yeah, it did. It bombed. It was so bad. um just

Danny Price: Why?

Shane: Well, just the environment was horrible for it. And then I'm just not good because we were just all over at the park. So I'm literally like half the people are facing because people are sitting in circles, right?

Shane: So half of them are kind of facing the other way.

Danny Price: Oh.

Shane: Kids are playing everywhere.

Danny Price: So you're kind of talking to nobody.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Yeah, kids are playing everywhere. that The sound wasn't making it all the way back to half where people are sitting. It started to drizzle rain a couple times. And, and then on top of that, I like, I'm literally just goofing around.

Danny Price: Uh,

Shane: I'm just like in celebration mode, talking to people. And then like all of a sudden Patrick's like, Hey, like in five minutes we got to start. And I'm like, Oh no. And I hadn't looked at the notes I had since like I made them on Tuesday.

Shane: And I, you know, so I'm like trying to like refresh my mind.

Danny Price: Mm -hmm.

Shane: and Yeah. So it was, it was pretty bad. So if you were there. Yeah, sorry for that part. But I think everything else was awesome.

Danny Price: got it Got it. Got it. Oh, that's funny

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Oh. Well, good.

Shane: So.

Danny Price: Um. i mean well not that not and good about that part but in general good

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Um.

Shane: I got you.

Danny Price: Yeah, that's funny. Yeah, no, I missed that. I was ah i was working. so

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Um. Yeah, as far as the sermon goes, that it was it wasn't a... and like ah I mean, there was a little bit of teaching, but it was less of a teaching sermon and more of just like an overview of like. what's happened over the past.

Danny Price: um you know, 18 years and a little bit of looking back a little bit of looking forward. Um, The question I had, and I just wrote this down is, you know, just. Over the last year, what have what has been... you kind of already highlighted some of the stuff over the summer, but what's been like some of the bigger highlights for you with the church?

Danny Price: And then. if you can like

Shane: okay Yeah.

Danny Price: After that. long -term like the since the inception of Mountain View, like... what have been some big moments or things that you wanted to share, just like looking back.

Shane: Well, I think the biggest thing for me, looking back over this last year and and maybe even just the last two or three years, is how many people we're seeing baptized into a new relationship. Christ. um You know, we're we're getting upwards into we're close to 200.

Shane: And.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: you know, In in three years...

Danny Price: Over the last year?

Shane: just No, three years. Three years.

Danny Price: Three years, three years. I was like, geez.

Shane: this this year This year for just our campus was 67, and we have four more scheduled for Sunday.

Danny Price: Okay, still, still.

Shane: um And.

Danny Price: Wow. That's so good.

Shane: And then that doesn't count Gateway. Like Gateway, I think is at... 12 this year, um maybe maybe higher than that, plus the um Hispanic campus.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: So just for this year, we'll we'll probably... Break. we have seen more than 75 people be baptized under a relationship with Jesus. And so that's a huge thing for me.

Danny Price: Wow.

Shane: Um, that's probably the biggest highlight of the year. Um, for for me. Um... You know, there's some events that have been awesome. There's um I mean, there's stories like you saw during the sermon. You know, I had all those people standing up there.

Shane: Those are all people that in the last like four years have done have god seen seen God do big things. And those just those people just represent, probably each one of those people represents another.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: eight to 10 people, you know? Um, So that that stuff. is what? You know, that's the stuff that gets me here every morning and gets me excited about what I'm doing.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: and um Yeah, so that's probably this last year or two, the big things. um Like event -wise, I would say, you know, I mean, I think our middle school camp, we had huge numbers for...

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: Um... you know, uh, Our Easter service. doing the one Easter service with having almost 1 ,200 people.

Danny Price: That was really cool.

Shane: Um,

Danny Price: That was really cool.

Shane: that was That was awesome. Um... Yeah, so we've had a few things like that, but but it's really the change change lives is what... Makes me excited. and ah yeah and then I mean, if I were going to talk about the highlights over the last 18 years, I mean.

Danny Price: I know it's a lot to, yeah.

Shane: yeah Yeah, I don't know, man. just Just seeing God continue to be faithful. You know, I mean, like I said in the sermon, I mean we i really was, in my mind, I was going to be super.

Shane: blessed if we got built the church to a steady over 200 before I retired. you know, and so.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: you know That was kind of my goal. Because there's a whole bunch of church metrics behind that. but if it Because generally when this the founding pastor leaves, the congregation loses about 20 % of the people.

Shane: um if it's not done really really well um and so if they they lose 20 percent

Danny Price: Mm -hmm.

Shane: And then if you don't get the exactly the right guy, you can go through tough things. so Kind of 200 is the number that... most church metrics feel like. If it's 200, it can survive into the next generation, even with losing people, even with having some hiccups, you know that kind of thing.

Shane: So that was kind of my goal.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: And you know just to see. God. move it past that and like spit, you know, just, it's. Peace. in multiples numbers That's just...

Danny Price: Jeez.

Shane: Really humbling.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Just an exciting, humbling thing.

Danny Price: That's yeah.

Shane: so you know um You know, even in getting a building built, like I would have never guessed we'd have her.

Danny Price: That's exciting. That is cool

Shane: you know, Well, I knew we were going to build a building. I really felt like we that was another thing we needed was our own place. But in my mind, the old building was kind of like, OK, we did it. We got a building, you know.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: So. Yeah.

Danny Price: Yeah, no

Shane: so

Danny Price: That's a lot. Yeah, the building is... Yeah, all that stuff is... Really exciting. I didn't know that that was your, like, not that it's all about numbers, but I didn't know that that's what your goal was for the church. that's That's pretty exciting just as to see you.

Shane: Yeah, that was just.

Danny Price: Totally blow through that, obviously.

Shane: Yeah. Uh -huh.

Danny Price: so Wow. Well cool. um Let's see here. What else did I have? um Let's see here. ah I think I just want to move into talking about rooted. um

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: So... As far as rooted goes, you... introduced it and you've been talking about it. or it's kind of been like in rumors, I guess, for a while at the church that people are doing, we're going to do this, something's happening. You know, you put it on the wall, like a big poster. It's it's kind of been in the works. um For those of us that were there or even people that were not there just

Danny Price: Describe what are we what is what are we doing as a church? What is this process? What is this curriculum? And then what is Rooted? And we'll talk about some more questions about that here in a second. just give us an overview, I guess.

Shane: Yeah. Well, Rooted, as far as in the States, was started by Mariner's Church um in California. But it um they. basically stole it from, I want to say it's Nairobi. um

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: Kenya. um I'm actually... Okay, I'm not going to. I might be wrong, but I don't want to take the time. Yeah, it is Kenya. um

Danny Price: Okay, okay.

Shane: So. they went They heard about a kind of a movement, a discipleship movement that was happening. and they So they went and kind of... formulated an american version of what they saw happening and basically it's just A formula that... It surrounds. um discipleship around um seven key move rhythms, if you will, in life. and it's Daily devotions, prayer. repentance.

Shane: sacrificial generosity. service. Um, Being able to witness and... um you know, share your own God story. if you will, um and and worship.

Shane: And the idea that if if Christians can do those seven things.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: they're going to flourish in your faith.

Danny Price: Got it.

Shane: and it's none of it's really deep like if you Thank you. You know, if if you've been a Christian for 10 years and you've been involved in some Bible studies and you've been doing some things, it's not super deep, but it's the idea of really getting these rhythms.

Shane: established in your life. and Kind of, I mean, right, you we all know we get distracted and we... we We get off course, you know, as Christians. So for me, when I went through it, it was just a reminder to get back to basics. Um, But then...

Shane: Like they have this, literally there's a. a week on repentance, right? And I've never done a study where there's a whole week on just repentance and what it looks like to just Be repentant before God. We all talk about repentance, but to truly spend time in repentance and then to talk about that experience with others and talk about your own struggles. and so It is. It's.

Shane: It's um basic, but it's... deep does that make sense

Danny Price: Yeah, no, totally.

Shane: So anyway, so that's what it is. and And, you know, so. Basically, about three years ago, when we start when we knew we were moving into the building, I kind of was starting to prepare, saying, we need something to disciple the people God's going to bring us.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: So I started looking at all these. different programs, um and... ministries and discipleship stuff and rooted was one of about 10 things that i read through and researched And I knew we wanted to do it. And so about a year and a half ago, I started.

Shane: kind of the process, probably two years ago now, took the staff.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: I i went through it all individually. Then I took the staff through it. um And then...

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: um We started thinking about when we wanted to launch it. um And Pastor Tony had stepped in. um Pastor Bruce was kind of handling it ah up to then. and um But now Pastor Tony overseeing the whole thing. And he's gotten this pilot group going. The pilot group went great. And so, yeah, our our hope is that we're going to get it started. And my my goal is that we'll have no less than 150 adults go through it.

Shane: in the winter.

Danny Price: Okay. Jeez, that's a lot. Um. As far as like the way and like the format that it goes. So... You have to have done it before to facilitate it. Is that right?

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Okay, and then What does a group I mean, I'm just asking this more out of my own curiosity, too.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: I mean, what is it? What does a group look like? Like, is it? Are you meeting with a group on it? In the evening... Is it? Um,

Shane: Yeah, so it's a text.

Danny Price: weekly? Is it every other week? like What does it look like?

Shane: the The goal is it's 10 weeks in a row.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: Um, That's... Now, obviously, right, where there's always Room for some. You know, twisting a little bit here and there. But the goal is 10 weeks in a row, same night, same time, all that. um It. And it doesn't have to be night. It can be morning. It can be whenever. Uh...

Shane: And. The interesting thing that they do is they don't they're not like, okay, hey, Danny, you want we want you to go to a group. You go recruit. 10 of your friends.

Danny Price: Mhm.

Shane: That's not it. what they what they talk about is getting people just to sign up. and being placed in a group.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: And obviously we try to place in a group with people that we feel like, hey, they're going to be able to get a along and connect, but not necessarily your 10 friends. And part of the reasoning behind that, the psychology behind that is.

Shane: A lot of times when we do stuff like this with friends, we've already we've spent years establishing, here's how far our relationship goes. you know Our relationship is at this level.

Danny Price: Mhm.

Shane: And so when it gets to these points where we're supposed to be kind of...

Danny Price: Yep.

Shane: talking about deeper things and breaking into deeper things where we actually have already kind of set. whether or not we're going to do that with these people. And yet with new people.

Danny Price: Interesting.

Shane: It actually can... can open up things ah in and in a totally different way. And we experienced that. um You know, we were in a group. I'm trying to think of anyone that we...

Shane: Yeah, the people we were in a group with, none of them would I'd say we were people that we had like. hung out with with maybe more than once. Twice.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: and most. two maybe Yeah, maybe two times.

Danny Price: Got it.

Shane: So that that's interesting. um and it And it really helps. um Yeah, I can't remember what else, but that was. that you were talking about, but that's kind of the gist.

Danny Price: Uh -huh.

Danny Price: Well, just like, what does it look like for the for each day? But yeah, that's...

Shane: Oh, for the group. Yeah, so there's a study. there's there's There's five days of study, and it's real quick study.

Danny Price: uh -huh

Shane: Like, like if you're a if you're a pretty fast reader, it's about seven minutes of reading, maybe. Yeah. Yeah, but I would say...

Danny Price: And you have a book that you read through for this.

Shane: so Five to seven. Yeah. Yeah, there's they get they give you a book. So each there's five days a week of reading.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: But like I said, it's. It's literally five to seven minutes. And then. Each day has like daily response questions. So there's four questions, um three to four.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: Um, And but the last the last one, the last part of the response is usually writing a prayer.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: And they kind of give you a little bit of a guide of like what to pray about and to to to write your prayer for that day. And, you know, it doesn't have to be.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: Pages, you know, um i I wrote like a paragraph every day as far as. My prayer is along those lines, you know.

Danny Price: Okay. Okay. Huh.

Shane: And then... um Yeah, and that that's literally about it. and then And then when you get together, the leader takes you through that, but then the leader has their own book and they kind of take you through some extra stuff and guide you in it.

Danny Price: Okay, interesting. And so it's 10 weeks and then. Is the plan when it's done. Is it just you disband the group and just do your, or like, what's the.

Shane: Yeah, so...

Danny Price: continuing plan or right after afterwards.

Shane: The goal, so now, so Rooted has a bunch of other studies on top of this. So Rooted would be like, I would call it the 101. And then they have a bunch of 201 and 301 studies.

Danny Price: Got it.

Shane: So but they're like Like... A hundred different topics. So the goal is to say, hey.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: Commit to the 10 weeks and then commit to one more. Different topic.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: And. Their point was, with by then, most people have developed some serious relationships. You know, over 20 weeks. you're you You know, you're you're developing.

Danny Price: You get pretty tight. yeah

Shane: Yeah, you're developing some serious relationships. And then they say, hey, after that, if you want to disband, disband. But. if you But we have all this other stuff for you if you want to keep going.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: And you know obviously the encouragement is keep going because the encouragement is. we We grow so much better when we are in community with people. um

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: You know, I I see all the time – it's funny because I was talking to a couple – a at at the park in the evening. And we're we were talking about just how exciting it is that.

Shane: God. grown the church and where everything's happening.

Danny Price: It is. Mm hmm.

Shane: And. And I said a little bit about how important all of our... foundational people have been. During the sermon. Oh. Danny, did I lose you?

Shane: Hey there, Danny.

Danny Price: Oh, you lost me for for one second and you're you're back.

Shane: Okay, we're back.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Okay. So I talked in a sermon about how... how important our foundational people have been to the the church. But anyway, while we were talking that night. He kept saying...

Shane: He's like, I just think it's so great. And he kind of kept pointing to the sermons and and Sunday mornings. He was like, he's like, I just love this is just a church where people can come and be inspired every week. And he's like, I, you know, you're preaching and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And, you know.

Shane: and I don't want to discount it, like, blah, blah, blah, like what he's saying. It was very encouraging.

Danny Price: Yeah, sure.

Shane: I felt very encouraged by everything he was saying. But I kept trying to point back to him and say,

Danny Price: Right.

Shane: and And I was like, man, I really appreciate that. But but you have to understand, yes. Thank you. I do believe God's given me some gifts, and I do believe... Dead. The preaching is important. i But I said said... But man. None of this is possible. on just the preaching.

Shane: it it's It only works. when it's built on relationship. Because...

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: yeah right Right, because I can listen to the most amazing... Sermon talk. book, whatever. Be super inspired, super encouraged by it.

Danny Price: Yep.

Shane: But two days later, when my life falls apart. That's not usually what... what helps me. What helps me is the person who comes alongside me, who hugs me, who...

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: He will pray with me right then and there. who you know, who I know will will be there.

Danny Price: Yeah. the roots that you put down. Yeah.

Shane: Yeah, the roots, you know, and so i get I just told him, I said, man, I appreciate it. I know I i really hear what you're saying. I really appreciate it. but I need you to know. this this church wouldn't be happening if it weren't for you and what you have done.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: And, you you know, it's's this is a team thing. And Rooted, I really believe, is going to help us be even a bigger, better, stronger team to...

Shane: to go into whatever God has for us for the future.

Danny Price: Yeah. No, I love that. Um... Trying to think of anything else that I was going to ask. Oh, so. Average Joe. Once they get involved. doesn't know anybody doesn't have a bunch of friends that they're going to do this with or Once they get plugged in, what do you what do? you do like how does how does How does a couple or an individual start this process?

Danny Price: i mean I know we're launching as a church, but what does that mean?

Shane: Yeah. So, I mean, it's going to be just like anything else we do. um Man, get the app. Get the app. get the app Hey, by the way, if you don't have the app, get the app.

Danny Price: yeah All right.

Shane: You should really have the app. I don't know if anyone listening to this doesn't have the app. You should get the app. so Because...

Danny Price: That's hilarious

Shane: Because really, the app... I mean, that we're going to have registrations on the app. And all you got to do is register.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: And then we we will send you the information. We'll connect you. we have It's awesome because we have this big night. We're going to launch it with this big dinner. um And we're going to celebrate that people are doing it.

Danny Price: Mm -hmm.

Shane: And we're going to share the process, talk to about it. And then we'll place you in your groups on that night.

Danny Price: Yep.

Shane: um And then the group decides like, OK, here's here's when we're meeting.

Danny Price: Okay.

Shane: Here's what you know. And actually, we might even say like, hey, these tables over here are for people who who can meet on Tuesdays or Thursdays. These people over here are the people that can meet on Wednesdays or, you know, or Saturday afternoon and whatever.

Danny Price: Oh, okay. I see. I see.

Shane: We're going to work, you know, so then that way you can kind of even be placed. A little bit by the time that works. Cause right. You can feel like, Oh, I love hanging out with these people, but if the time zone doesn't work, then it's not going to matter.

Shane: So, so we, we start with a big celebration dinner after you've, everyone's registered and, and then they go, it goes from there.

Danny Price: Yeah, sure.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Danny Price: Okay. Awesome. so basically hang tight if you're nervous about this hang tight and we're gonna do this on like a there's a day that we'll be will be like the draft day or whatever.

Shane: Yeah, we'll be I think it's the second week of January is the day we're going to do the big push because right now we have about 30 people going through it.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: that are going to... hopefully go move on to be leaders.

Danny Price: Got it. okay Interesting. Well, that's exciting. That's fun Um.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: I'm trying to think if there's anything else. so We've already talked about like and this is the questions that I had of like what you can expect to get out of it um Is it something that goes on forever? We talked about that already. So that kind of rounds it out. Is there anything else about Rooted specifically that you wanted to mention or do you feel like we've covered that?

Danny Price: And we're, you know, you're excited about it, obviously. so We're pretty set.

Shane: um Yeah, I mean...

Danny Price: Or anything else?

Shane: that That's about it. I'm super excited about it. I think it's going to be a great next step for us. You know, there's plenty of other things that are happening that are exciting. You know, down the road.

Shane: We're... You know, I can't talk too much about because we don't know exactly what it looks like, but we are at a place where like, OK, we're going to do something to expand. So we don't know what that looks like.

Danny Price: Yeah. For service, for service, for service.

Shane: Um, No. They definitely will not be a fourth service.

Danny Price: I'm kidding.

Shane: Um, it but it... You know, and I don't know if it means another campus, if it means... um Busting out a wall. um you know If it means more children's space, we definitely need more children's space.

Shane: um but You know, we'll we'll figure something out.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Danny Price: Good problems. Good problems to have.

Shane: Yeah, good problems.

Danny Price: yes Yeah. Good things. Like you said, there's just been a lot of fruit this last season or so. so it's' That's exciting.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Yeah, it's crazy it's crazy to me.

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: I mean. I've been going to Mountain View since... That was... what, 8, 19 -ish? 19? But it's cool for me to see. Um, just all the things that has have happened but then it also cool like i remember meeting outside like remember meeting outside church outside

Shane: Yeah

Danny Price: like before the building and like during COVID like there's all these times where it's like we've had to

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: kind of pivot and I'm like to think that we're at the size where we're pushing past three services and you know, that's that, that many people are getting baptized in the last three years is just wild. 200 people is a lot of people.

Shane: Yeah, go take taking me back.

Danny Price: That's a lot of people.

Shane: Taking me back to when ah we... We're in the process of. Building a building, and i had we had 75 people showing up for services because of COVID. That that was a bit that was a bit stressful.

Danny Price: Outside in like a, yeah.

Shane: Yeah, that was a little bit like them

Danny Price: Because if we did like, we did i we did like what? it was like six services outside or something like that like over the summer of covid

Shane: Well, we did we did um parking lot services for a while. We started parking lot services in June.

Danny Price: That's right.

Shane: Um, and like we're putting into people's car radios and standing on the parlor. And then I think in September.

Danny Price: That's right. I forgot about that.

Shane: First week of September, we moved to the back. um to the grass where the building is now.

Danny Price: Yep.

Shane: and Basically had services there for. I think. six to eight weeks before it got too cold.

Danny Price: That's right. That's right. Oh, COVID times.

Shane: Yeah, it was. Yeah, and then Oh, that was so stressful, man.

Danny Price: Yeah. ah

Shane: like Like going, God, why you have us building this building and we have 75 people, including kids, showing up for church.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Like it was.

Danny Price: Yeah, no, that was tough. I remember

Shane: It was a scary time.

Danny Price: yeah I remember the groundbreaking and all that. Yeah. That's crazy. It's wild to be. where we're at now. So. Anyways, we're cool. Um, I had one question from someone that was at church on Sunday that had...

Danny Price: asked if I was going to do the podcast and sent me a question.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: no this is a paraphrase of what i they told it to me in person and i was like okay we i'm gonna write this down but i wrote it down in my words so this is the gist of what they were trying to say which was Um, you know during the sermon you had everyone kind of close their eyes and picture picture like certain pivotal moments in their life of like big moments with god so that's what this that's where this is coming from so the question is

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: If you've been a Christian your whole life, Are you supposed to have a moment when you've seen God show up in a this big huge way or is it okay if it's just smaller like little ways? Um, So do with that what you will. I want to hear your your answer to that.

Shane: um Yes and yes.

Danny Price: Yeah, okay.

Shane: um I would say throughout your life, if you're if you're following Christ your whole life, Um... You're going to have a couple times where God shows up in a big way if you're paying attention to it because you're going to go through crises.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: You know, and you're going to and. you got You're going to have a crisis at some point in life. Yeah.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: If you're under 40, there's a good chance you you might have gotten so far without having that crisis yet. you know I don't know. but um

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: but I but Generally, you know, we I've never met the person who just says, yeah, I just swung through life and and never had a never had anything happen that really rocked my world.

Shane: And so we're going to have those. And so if we're looking for God to show up and we're being faithful in ourselves, I think eventually we see God show up, you know. And now I will say some of those things, some of those big ways God has shown up in my life.

Shane: I might not recognize at the time. that he was showing up in a big way.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: At the time, it might have just seemed like. god's like this small like just glimpse of his glimpses of his faithfulness

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: day to day. But now I can look back on those and go,

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Okay, God got me through that year and a half.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: Like, honestly... What we were just joking about. COVID, I mean, for me, that was a that year and a half rocked my world.

Danny Price: Yeah. Yeah.

Shane: As a pastor...

Danny Price: That was tough.

Shane: I could not do anything right. people were People are mad at you on every side.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: You're watching the, you know, watch I watched this church that I spent. 12 years building just like literally. be empty. um you know worrying about people's health all these different kinds of things you know trying to yeah building finances all that and i just remember

Danny Price: New building, finances.

Shane: Just having... Days where I just was like, okay, God, what? I don't know what to do. I just don't know what to do.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: you know And when we came and planted this church, same thing. i mean Times where, I mean, I was just crying out to God because I was like, I don't even know how. like we don't have There's no way we can get a paycheck this month the the the whole you know there's everything all these things are happening and you know i moved my whole family here blah blah blah so

Danny Price: Mm -hmm.

Shane: At the time, it didn't seem like God was showing up in big ways. In fact, at times it was like, where in the world are you, God?

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: But I love... And I go. Man, God. God carried me. End that. like

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: Sure, it wasn't like carrying me like on... butterflies and clouds and I just was like floating through it. But. But I also he he got me through it you know and um

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: When I didn't know what to do or where to turn or how how it was gonna work out and how I was scared You know, so so a lot of times we might not feel like it's a big way But I think if we really look back, it is.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: But all that to say that, no, I don't think iggy it has to be some big, big moment. I think it. is just that faithfulness. I think you're like, you are probably someone who kind of can relate to that. You know, when you're raised in a Christian family.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: You give your life to Christ as a young person, whether it be a child or you know a young teen or whatever. a lot of I know a lot of people, especially when I was as a youth pastor, kind of worked with kids like that. that's like It's like, well, I don't have a big testimony.

Shane: I don't have this moment where I just was like, oh my gosh, God's forgiven me of these horrible things I've done. mobile you know it just was I just know God's always there. you know and And that's perfectly okay, to just know God's always there.

Shane: um But I will say most people that have come to Christ as an adult,

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: They kind of look back and they just realize. how lost they were and that that is kind of a big moment So. I don't know if that answers.

Danny Price: Yeah. no it totally does i also think to add on to that like And this is something that I'm actually really bad at. um is I think we diminish God's impact on things the further we away we get from the event, depending on.

Danny Price: If we... make a note of it or not. So for example, like I can think of moments in my life where I'm like in the moment, I'm like, this was God working. This was such an amazing thing. And then I forget because I.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: let time pass. And I'm like, really? Was that God? Or was that what but what was the situation again? You just you just lose track of some things. And I think

Shane: uh -huh

Danny Price: there's this there's that cool you know thing about like rips you know remembering like what God did and i mean you didn't even mention this you might have mentioned this in years past but just the whole you know, the Israelites crossing over, I think it was the river Jordan and they.

Danny Price: it's a river and they make this like. these make make all these stacks of stones to remember what happened and it was like this whole thing of like this is how you were going to remember and i think

Shane: This altar. uh -huh

Danny Price: kind of having moments where you do that in your own life of like, Hey, let's look back, which I think this is why I think anniversary Sunday is cool. But also I think personal life, you should do this. is Keep track of when...

Danny Price: God shows up in a big way. Because chances are, as you go on with your life and you get older, you're going to forget those things. Like I think about my, like in my head, like. i've had I haven't had any crazy crises. My family had a lot of health scares when I was younger, and there was quite a bit of big moments that I had.

Danny Price: Um, but I forget the things that God has showed up in. And I'm like, I prayed for that. And God answered that prayer. And I haven't even. like taking time to like look at that so you might have more like bigger moments than you realize if you actually take the time to like document what you've

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: been through and even as you you know even if maybe you've forgotten up to this point now as you go forward now you know hey, maybe I should write a you know in journal about this is how God showed up in my life in XYZ area that just happened. And that way I won't forget when I'm 60 or whatever.

Shane: uh -huh

Danny Price: So. Yeah.

Shane: yeah Yeah, I haven't been very good at it. Good at it. recently but for a few years ah I've done a pretty good job of keeping a five -year prayer journal. And I love it.

Danny Price: Hmm.

Shane: I think I've mentioned it on here before because it's it's only like five to six lines. But you just write. Whatever your prayers are. and in What I love about it is then you can read the next. so Like... Say if you start in 2020.

Shane: Monday, January 1st. On day one, there's five lines for. 2020 but then when you get to 21 same thing there's five lines on the same page all the way down for five years so So it gives you where you can look back really easily on your prayers two, three, four, five years ago.

Shane: And it kind of it's um it's an amazing thing to look back and go, yeah, God. God dealt with that. God answered that. Like you, cause you can see all those things. So yeah, I do think.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: um That is good. And yeah we're not a good culture for remembering. you know Yeah, you mentioned the Jews and the the the stones when they crossed the river.

Danny Price: Yep.

Shane: I mean, they did all sorts of things like that, right? I mean, a lot of their festivals were to remember what God had done.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: ah ah You know, we we are really bad about remembering what God has done. That's one of the reasons. I like to do Anniversary Sunday. Because it gives us a reason. to remember God's faithfulness to us as a church.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: See, I admit...

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: I'd never experienced – like I i you know like said, i but I was at two other churches before here.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: We never did this. This is just – I mean I – I'm... I don't know how many churches do this. You know, I know some do. Bye.

Danny Price: i know I know some churches do with what they call Vision Sunday, which is kind of like a... here's what's going to happen over the next like little bit, but it's more about like. future casting it's a little bit less of

Shane: Yeah! Yeah, future casting.

Danny Price: Um.

Shane: Yeah, and and we try to do that.

Danny Price: Like, here's what we've done. Look at this. 18 years, whatever.

Shane: Yeah. Yeah, I try to do that. um Usually try to find a time once a year to kind of do a bigger thing like that a little bit more.

Danny Price: Mm hmm.

Shane: And then also just try to work it in. But but the remembering, you know, I really I feel like with the anniversary, it gives us a time to remember. Just like, you know, when Tonya and I celebrate our anniversary.

Shane: We're celebrating most of what we're doing. A lot of what we're doing is going back and remembering, hey, our 37 years or 30. two years, you know whatever, how how... what God has been doing in that. And so that, that's one of the reasons i I really. Like having our anniversary Sunday.

Danny Price: Yeah. No, I totally agree.

Shane: And it's funny, actually, real quick, it's funny that you say that because I've actually had someone go. asked me about like, well, why aren't you just preaching? You know, that's. that They almost kind of like that's not biblical for us to do that And I almost am like, no, I actually think it's.

Shane: Way more biblical because that's what they did all throughout the Bible. They didn't have anniversary Sunday, but they.

Danny Price: Wait, not biblical to... To do Anniversary Sunday or what? or

Shane: Yeah, i I... A couple yeah times I've had people say... That then I'm not... That we're not. just preaching a sermon. You know, Chris.

Danny Price: Well, yeah, but you got to realize. Like to for me to defend that, I would say. Okay, listen. look at the early church and look at. well I mean, let's look at the Jewish people and look at like the history of the church and what they've did. and like the It was all about coming together and meeting together.

Danny Price: End. so many times in the bible it talks about like remembering and like even just look at like the oral tradition that the jewish people had like there's such a big emphasis on what has god done for us look at this like and this is not us and like i love how you mentioned that during

Shane: Yep.

Danny Price: the sermon about like this is not me this is not this is not us this is not oh look at mountain view it's like look what god has done which is the whole point which i don't know how you can get upset at that but There we go.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: Whatever. Yeah. I'm all for that so anyways

Shane: People get upset about anything, Danny. Don't you know that?

Danny Price: Yeah. I remember COVID. Harken back to the good old days of COVID. um Cool. Well, that answers that.

Shane: Exactly.

Danny Price: so you saying yes to both um it can be little ways it can be a big way that god can show up and Uh, But I do agree that. it is important. I think that you take the time to. to notice. when God shows up, so.

Danny Price: Anyway.

Shane: Yeah, and and but real quick, just because I don't know who asked it, so I do want to make sure I hit this. If you haven't had an experience that you... Are thinking. Well I don't have that big thing.

Shane: Yeah. That. Is not a problem that your your your experience, your faith is still... 100 % valid.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: And, you know, um we're not all going to have those Paul Damascus road. We're not all going to have those Paul Damascus Road moments, you know.

Danny Price: Yeah.

Shane: um But... We. we just We're giving our faith in Christ. be and seeing his faithfulness. so

Danny Price: Yeah. No. And you see people in the Bible that don't have that. big of a turnaround. um people who would just put their faith in Jesus and they have saving they have saving faith because...

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: I mean... It's... that all you do is repent and believe. And like, that's what God says. So it's not. Like your faith is in your salvation is only contingent upon. God. you know struck you blind on the road to Damascus like you said and there was this whole you know I was a drug dealer and I was this and I you know and I all this stuff and then all of a sudden god turned my life around like that's a great testimony that's awesome but that does not mean if you don't have that that you're not validly saved or anything like that or you don't you know you're not actually following God.

Shane: yeah

Danny Price: Um, So. anyways i think we've had on that before but that's that's a good reminder so anyways um i have nothing else for the episode i think that was it it's good to be back it's good to kind of be back in the saddle

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: um Excited for...

Shane: What?

Danny Price: for the future.

Shane: Well, hey. Real quick. I'll just share, i just to share, um next week we start a series um called ah churches Letters to the Church. And it's... um The seven. The seven churches of Revelation.

Shane: So.

Danny Price: Oh, geez. Okay, yeah.

Shane: Yeah, so we're going to be covering Revelation 1 through 3. And this this week is focused on just on Revelation 1, so we're going to kind of intro that before we get into the letters.

Shane: so

Danny Price: Awesome. Awesome. That's going to be exciting.

Shane: Yeah.

Danny Price: now It's going to be really good. I feel like Revelation is a book that most people don't try to touch just because it's there's a lot in there and it's hard to understand. so

Shane: Yeah, well notice I'm only covering the first three chapters.

Danny Price: Let's extend the break. ah What are the seven bowls?

Shane: yeah

Danny Price: What are the, yeah, no, here we go. um All right. Sounds good then. um For all our listeners, thank you guys for your support. If we have any of you left that are still listening or still seeing us come up on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, we thank you.

Shane: that

Danny Price: um Pass this on to your friends and let everyone know, especially if you know people that have been listening in the past. We're back. um I'm expecting us to kind of be lower listenership for a while as we kind of. build back momentum, which is totally fine, which was expected. so Appreciate you all. Thank you all for.

Danny Price: listening this far if you made it all the way to the end and we will see you guys next week

Shane: All right. See ya.

Danny Price: All right. Bye.

Shane: Bye.
