Speaker: The Salambia Saga is a story -driven, action -packed, fun -filled D &D podcast. I'm your DM Anthony, and today we are joined by Lucas, playing Roshka. Hi, that's me! Robin, playing Fosk. Hello, it's me. And Hailey, playing D 'Alon. Oh, D 'Alon Baudois.
Speaker: Where we last left off, you had just helped Fornus Oliphaea clear out his living room, killed his rat in the process, and just so happened to take a little bit more money because he offered you for doing such a good job.
Speaker: So now, you are on the outside of his yard, on the street, in the streets of Velstrix Heights. Alrighty. Well, there wasn't anything else on either board, apart from that, uh,
Speaker: Travel maker. As kindly as I can put it. That's just like a good idea. Are we missing somebody? Oh yeah, he went away. Ah, it is probably because you stab him in the knee, Lutong. Nah, I'm sure he's fine.
Speaker: I'm sure he'll be back. I hope. I was thinking of the Sun problem. I guess. Perhaps the Luton knows they are a crafty bunch. No, I don't! That solves that, I guess.
Speaker: I was thinking maybe we should go to a library? What's a library? A place with lots and lots of books. It covers historical happenings, which is what I'm after. I've heard of those before. Never seen one though. Well, it's a reality.
Speaker: But, well, I guess we'll have to find one here. Fosk will kind of look for landmarks, basically, to see if there's any kind of way to help himself navigate through the city.
Speaker: Okay, so you see that Velstrix Heights is actually a multi -level city, but just because it seems to be on a series of cliffs and hills, thus giving it its name.
Speaker: You notice that you're on kind of the lower level close to the coastline, but you can see that as you go up, buildings seem to get larger. Right now you're in what seems to be a fairly residential area, so you might find some entertainment and just houses and stores here. But for the main, like,
Speaker: information and education type things, that's probably going to be a little higher up. Yeah. All right. I guess we're claiming unless there's a form of transportation upwards. You're probably going to have to find one. All righty. All right.
Speaker: Do we want to split up to find transportation or are we hoofing it together? No, please don't leave me. I'm going to get lost. Alrighty. So then I guess it's time to locate transportation. So we'll go ahead and just roll a group investigation check. Okay. Yes, Chef.
Speaker: That's a solid seven for Fosk. Perfect. I rolled a natural 20. Yeah. It's a group perception reset. Investigation. Yeah, that is.
Speaker: Seven for me. Wait. So two sevens and a natural 20. Yeah, I thought the natural 20 is actually an 18, I think, because I'm so low intelligence. Yeah, yeah. So natural 20 minus two is 18. Oh, buddy. Well.
Speaker: So, Fosk and Dialon kind of take turns, you know, kind of winding through these straight and narrow streets, getting closer to the cliff and then getting away because transportation seemed to be hard to find. But Roshka, you use some of that goblin intuition and you know
Speaker: that sometimes to go towards something, you have to go through something. So as you near one of the cliffs, you notice that there is a hole cut out in the side of the cliff and what seems to be something moving inside of it. It's a very slow movement.
Speaker: And it is lit up pretty well by the magical lights outside. But you may point that out. And point that out, I do. Look, guys, there's something over there. I think we should go in there. Oh. Well, looks good to me. Let's go. And if I scroll head in without head after it without any hesitation.
Speaker: So as you near this hole in the wall, well, hole in the cliff, you notice that it's what looks to be stairs, but they're moving. From a player's standpoint, it's essentially an escalator. But as you see these,
Speaker: these moving platforms. There are these blue circular rocks that you see people kind of stepping onto and then just going up on whatever rock they have standed on. Whoa. Standed? Stood. Oh, yeah.
Speaker: Okay, so you stand up to the rock and you go up. Okay. I don't like the idea of moving stairs particularly. Okay. Roshka, I imagine Roshka just pushing ahead. Absolutely. I absolutely love that.
Speaker: So as, uh, as Roshka, you know, hops onto one of the stones, it kind of sinks a little bit, uh, taking his weight, and then you see him slowly start to slide upward. Look at me! Okay, hey, uh, deal on? Yes. Oh, would you like to be next? Well, I... No, I would not.
Speaker: All right. Um, and Fox, Fosca is next on the chopping block, I guess, the old step on a stone. Yeah. Once again, it sinks under your weight and then lifts back up and then you begin to slide upward probably about a, about 30 seconds behind Rashka. All right, Elan, see you at the top. Okay. Have fun dying up there. I will see you when you are a skeleton like me.
Speaker: We're just looking for a library, Elon. Yeah, well, anything would happen between here and there, normally. Well, it's probably better it happens in a group gesturing towards the stones. Are you really - Your voice is steadily increasing as you get further and further away. Are you really going to make me do this?
Speaker: Yes! Get on! Oh, fussy. Fine. He'll get on the stone. Okay, so what I want you to do is just go ahead and make a... We'll do just a wisdom saving throw. Actually, you know what we'll call this? We'll just call it a bone check. A bone check?
Speaker: When you do something that you don't really want to do, this is a check to see if you collapse into a pile of bones. All right. So just roll a yeah, just roll a straight D 20. Fourteen. Even though you're slightly.
Speaker: not having it, you managed to stay a skeleton and not a pile of bones. Okay, I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. He's going to collapse anyway. All right. So, Roshka, you arrive at the top first.
Speaker: You see people in front of you kind of step off so you mimic the same movement. And you see much larger houses than you have ever seen before. This is like a world of wonder to you. There are floating lights just kind of moving throughout the streets. There are what seem to be like
Speaker: automatons, just like robots moving throughout the things carrying various things. And you notice a lot of people not walking, they're just kind of floating. You see many other buildings that don't seem to look like houses, they have signs outside of them. You see just directly in front of you a large open area with a fountain in the middle and some
Speaker: strange looking trees, and the fountain doesn't seem to be working like what you would think. It's kind of pouring out of the sides and then going up instead of up and then down. As Fosk and then Deilon arrive at the top, you also see the same things.
Speaker: and Foskle step off and then he'll immediately twirl around and wait for Daelon at the top with his arms crossed. Once Daelon gets up there, Foskle kind of like lean forward and offer his hand to Daelon like, and need help, Mr. Brave Knight.
Speaker: I would have you know that I am a very brave knight. This collapsing thing just easy happens, randomly. I have not been bones before. He'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll,
Speaker: I can imagine it's like teeth chattering. Just every every joint is just rattling together as he pulls himself together and like, you know, kind of sifts up into his armor. You hear like the aluminum tinge of it. You're gonna knock your helmet off. Fosco kind of like a pattern on top of the helmet.
Speaker: And he'll begin pulling Beelong along to catch up to Roshka. Roshka, at this point, is probably running around like a kid in a candy store looking at everything and anything. Roshka, wait up. We need to be together. OK, wait. What is this? As he comes forward to the fountain.
Speaker: How does it do that? Would you mind describing the fountain again? So the fountain has water in it. The flow is going out of the sides and up instead of the typical up and then down that most fountains do.
Speaker: Well, it could maybe be magic, it could be some weird muffin thing I know nothing about. Some magic can do this! Perhaps. I'm not exactly the most experienced with magic either, I just assume anything I don't understand is probably magic.
Speaker: It's a fountain. This is not a library in all of them. Where can we find a library? Is that one of those big houses? Yeah, you could say that. I haven't read a book in 800 years. I haven't read a book in a year. I am surprised you can read it all. I can. I've never read a book.
Speaker: Wait, wait, what? Huh? Huh? What? Yeah. He's probably tried his best. I'm sure. Dilan's gonna scratch his skull on that one. You are very odd, Luton. I think I fooled him. I'm gonna... Dilan's gonna like, lean over to Fosk and be like,
Speaker: Truly, I know you are a nice person, but we should keep an eye on Lutonne. In my experience, Lutonne are not friendly creatures at all. Oh, yeah. I'll keep him at the treble. Arm's distance, that's all I am saying. Arm's distance.
Speaker: I'll think about it. We're talking about how great you are. That's what we are talking about. There's no reason for you to be suspicious about anything at all.
Speaker: He's gonna, he's gonna like put a hand up to like his helmet and like point at Roshka and be like, like kind of, even though Phos can't see it from beneath his helmet, he's gonna mouth like, see, I told you. Phos will kind of crouch down to Roshka's height, and he'll be like, so you know what, you saw something you like?
Speaker: Let's go there. I saw a lot of things I liked. Well, pick one and let's go. Okay, that way. As he just picks a random direction and starts... zooming. He stays still going towards the... All right, Beelan. Come on. What direction do you think you're going?
Speaker: Probably to the right, if we entered like a square with like the fountain in the middle, it would probably go to the right. Okay, so as you are walking that way, you see the buildings actually start to get quite a bit brighter, larger and more colorful.
Speaker: They become a little bit more sparse and you see that people have yards. There's grass and trees and bushes and whatnot, just general like landscaping type stuff. You see that these houses are much more individualistic. They all look very unique in their build, in their color.
Speaker: And Fosk, you would actually know there is a basically like subdivision inside of Sorelvia that is like this. And that is basically where the richest of the rich live because they can afford to have a yard and the things in it. Oh, wow.
Speaker: Imagine you notice that these become a little bit more numerous. They are getting more spacious as you go along. But directly ahead of you, you notice a very large building. You see the road fork and the building is basically in that fork, so it's triangular. But it has a very large spire that reaches the top. It's very ornate looking and it looks very old.
Speaker: Oh, well, um, Roshka is staying near us for a moment. Follow me. And Roshka is going to approach the building and try and look for identification of what it is before just entering Willy Nilly.
Speaker: We should not go in there. No, we should not. So you want to go in the old building? I want to I want to see if there is like any labeling, like, you know, how a public library would have like a sign saying, oh, library. I want to see if there's any signage first. There is signage. You see it dotted around.
Speaker: the sides that go into both forks. And you see it says something different on both sides. So on the left side of the fork, it says Guildhall. And on the right side, the signs say library. Oh, hey, library. Whoa. That is a library.
Speaker: That is not what libraries are supposed to look like. Well, half of it's a library. That is a very scary library. I hope it doesn't have restricted access or something. Why would you even joke about such a thing? Scary? Are there monsters in there? Well, the other side says guild hall, so it might be only for guild members, but... What's a guild?
Speaker: Yay, it's a group of people with a unified goal who operate together. Kind of, but it's more governmental, more structured. We're just three or four people who have been given an assignment. You see Roshka's eyes just glaze over and he's just staring at you blankly.
Speaker: Yeah, that's fair. Anyhow, the library, I will be attempting to check it out. And Fosk will basically follow the signage.
Speaker: So on the right side, you do notice very large double doors. They are seemingly wooden, but they look very reinforced. The handles are quite large. And you see not only on these double doors, there is a door inside of the door. There's actually two. So you see.
Speaker: These doors are fairly large, probably about double your height. Then you see another door that is roughly a foot taller than you. And then you see another door that's about four feet tall. Oh, it's a library for Ashka. It seems like it might be your size. OK, I'm going to go in there.
Speaker: Good luck with the door. So, Roshka, are you going through the little door or are you trying the larger door? I'm going to try the larger door. Which larger door? The very large.
Speaker: Okay. So, uh, one, you cannot even reach the handle. So you're sitting there jumping up and down, you know, really trying to, to reach that you're stretching, you know, elongating yourself to the point where it's starting to hurt a little bit, but you can't reach it. Hmm. Is the handle within reach of Fosk? Uh, the large one? Yes. Okay. So, uh,
Speaker: Foskle will go. Oh, here, let me help you, Roshka. And he'll, um, he'll like crouch down to pick up Roshka. Hey, hey, hey, hey, what are you doing? I'm helping. That is dangerous. You don't just pick up the stone. Well, I'm doing it. You are crazy. You are crazy, crazy, man. And Foskle hold up Roshka. Like he'll hold Roshka in one arm.
Speaker: basically to let him grab the handle. And then he'll help grab the handle with his other hand in an attempt to pull it open. Is Roshka the only goblin D 'Elon has seen since being re -awoken? Yes. Excellent. As Fosk opens the door, he's gonna be like, you know, honestly Fosk,
Speaker: Goblins were around back when I was alive, about 900 years ago. And he's the only Luton that exists as far as I know. And to be the last walking Luton on the entire planet, well, that makes him quite powerful. I would handle with care, really. Does this not look like caring to you? No, that looks like reckless abandon.
Speaker: So as you attempt to open the larger door, I'm going to need first Roshka to make a strength check. All right. That's a dirty one. And now Fosk. This is going to get so great. And I need you, I need you to make it a disadvantage. That'll do it. 14.
Speaker: So you feel the handle start to move downward slightly. And then you feel it go right back up as Roshka is shoving up on the door handle about as hard as he can. Wrong direction, Roshka. Elon's going to open the other door, like the other side or the other door panel. Are you opening the regular sized door? They both lead into the same place.
Speaker: for what you understand. They seem to. I'm the only person with common sense here. The door with the big door, right? Yeah. That's like a double door essentially, right? Yes. And that leads into the library. They all lead into the library. It's like a door with other doors built into it so people of all sizes can get in.
Speaker: Uh, deal on deal on has no common sense. Uh, he's going to open the other side of the double door. Cause I assume they're pulling on one, right? Uh, he's going to pull on the free one and see if he can pull it off. So you're also going after the large door. Okay. It's an ego thing.
Speaker: So I need you to make a strength check as well. Oh god, finally a good roll. That is a 21. Okay, so you pull down on the handle. The door begins to open. It's a struggle.
Speaker: But very slowly swings out into the library and you see a very, very large room filled with bookshelves and people mulling about a very, very quiet environment. But the door doesn't seem to make any noise as heavy as it is.
Speaker: You notice that there's a direct path to a counter, and behind it sits a very, very large individual. This individual is purple -skinned.
Speaker: two large curling horns jutting out from their head, long flowing black hair coming down from their head, piercing yellow eyes, and quite sharp teeth. You can't really see anything outside of that. You see a bit of the neck.
Speaker: But outside of that, the counter is tall enough that you really can't see it much else. As you open the door, this individual looks towards you and you see those sharp toothy fangs smile at you.
Speaker: He'll go in behind him. His arm will get stuck as the door closes and it like pulls out of his socket. He's like, fuck. It like pushes it open real quick, pulls it out.
Speaker: So once again, Roshka and Fosk, as you enter, you notice the same surroundings, and you also notice this individual just smiling towards you all. Oh, hello. Fosk will wave towards him. How is he smiling? It seems genuine. Is it like a creepy kind of smile?
Speaker: Uh, that depends on the person. For you, probably. Yeah, I think, I think Deelan is just very, just doesn't understand the living anymore. He's just, that is so fucking creepy. Nice is friendly. I don't know. It looks like a friend to me.
Speaker: Well, you are very trusting, so that does not surprise me in the slightest. But look, he's just still smiling. Look at him. Not even saying hello, or how do you do? Just a smile? That is very creepy. Well, he's about to be smiling with me near him. And Foska will approach the person.
Speaker: So this counter is the top of it is about nine feet tall. So you see that there are a couple sets of steps that lead up to the counter. There is one larger set and one smaller set that reaches up about halfway and the larger set reaches up just about to the top. I'm going to go there. Hit steps time.
Speaker: Let's see. Take the ones that go halfway. That should have them be just about at the top of the... At the top of the... And Roshka, are you taking the same set? No, Roshka is rushing to the one that goes all the way to the top.
Speaker: Okay. As you brush up there, you notice that this individual is clothed in a quite fancy looking dress. Um, she looks at you, um, very brightly. She's a very happy seeming, but isn't making much of a noise. Um, but as you reach the very, very top, um, she, uh, looks at you.
Speaker: and says, hello, and welcome to the Veltstrix Public Library. Hello, I'm Raska. I came from my village. I met this big blue lady that we teleported here. Then we came to do a big hole in the ground. There was a big rat. I threw a knife at the rat. As he just begins babbling.
Speaker: Oh, okay. Please do not be suspicious of my armor. I am a knight, very chivalrous, very brave, and we don't need to go past that. Okay. Foskle, I'll offer a hand for handshake and he'll be like, my name is Foskle, what might I call you?
Speaker: Ah, she takes your hand. My name is Varesa. Varesa. I am the keeper of this library. Your friend here is telling quite the story. I'm assuming your friends, you came in together? Something like that, yes. He's had an eventful day.
Speaker: I can, I can see that. What was this about a blue figure? I couldn't tell you really. I think you just had an eventful dream. Do you want to lean in and be like, if you notice he is Luton, so be very careful about what you say around him.
Speaker: He could kill us all. He could kill us all. He could not. He's the blink of an eye. He is the last louton standing. Very powerful. What exactly is a louton? I think that's his word for a goblin. Louton, how do you say a little green fellow, goblin, yes.
Speaker: this one is the last goblin yes look at him he's the only goblin around and you know 800 forget that I said that but you know very long time ago goblins used to be
Speaker: How do you say? For all the fellow in your tone And you know they were very dangerous and eight people just by the dozens and You know I have very personal Well let's forget about that part, but just know that he's very dangerous look at him. He is a beast of pure
Speaker: Strength. And he's going to point to like, he's going to point to Roshka and like, both of them look at Roshka, like have both of them look at Roshka and Roshka's just sitting there like a cute little goblin. Flask is just shaking his hand. I fell asleep during this conversation, just leaning up against it. He looks fairly harmless to me. He didn't even open the door. That is what the Luton wants you to think.
Speaker: They draw you in with their cute little whimsy and then they shank you. And then they eat your flesh. Don't ask how I know that, but I know it. Ah, okay. I'm almost certain that he is not the last goblin alive. Wait. But... You mean there are more like him?
Speaker: Friendly, yes. He's going to collapse straight into bones. Straight bones. Are you OK down there? It's fine. He's just feeling a little quirky. Under the weather. Yes, under something, all right. But sorry, it's nice to meet you.
Speaker: Is there anything I can help you with? Yes, I was wondering if there were any books about the sun. Yeah, there's quite a few books about the sun.
Speaker: There's books about the sun and its energy and what it means. And then there's books about the sun being gone. And there's books about theories on why the sun is gone. Oh, yes. Actually, I was looking for that. Oh, OK. So you're looking for the theoretical one. Yes. OK.
Speaker: Give me just one second and I can find where they are. I just got to look through my little tome here. And you see her start flipping through a very, very large book.
Speaker: and you see her mumbling to herself, you know, whispering something, her finger tracking the pages and then flipping, tracking the pages and then flipping, and then she stops. And she looks a bit confused, but looks up at you. So it looks like our theory section has been a bit cleared out
Speaker: But there does seem to be a couple books on it still in. I'm not sure why all of them are gone. They almost never get touched. But I can direct you in the area at which you would find it. That would be lovely. Thank you. So to my right, to your left, you're going to go down that hallway.
Speaker: You're going to enter a fairly larger section, an open section where people can read and study and whatnot. You're going to take a left immediately, go to the end of this little section, and then go a little further down to the right. And there should be a small little alcove. And that is where you will find the books that you see.
Speaker: Thank you so much, miss. You are very lovely. Thank you. No problem. I'd love to help. That's why I'm here. And then, uh, Fascal, uh, licked a deal on to see if he's reformed himself. Yell on. There are hundreds of them.
Speaker: He has formed himself back together, but he's just in this 9 ,000 -yard stare. Fascal will grab his hand, basically. He's like, okay, Dylan. One step at a time, then. Okay? 10 ,000 lutons. It will be okay. 10 ,000 lutons surrounding us all?
Speaker: Not right now. We're in a library. What are you gonna do? Break social code? No. That's rude. For a moment, D 'Elon will be quiet as he ponders a thousand more goblins just like Roshka. All wielding throwing daggers. Oh no. One thousand goblins who can't throw daggers.
Speaker: At least one of them has to hit. It would be Roshka. So, uh, Roshka, have you, have you woken up? Why? Why not? It is time. You've been giving directions, Roshka. Wait, what? So you...
Speaker: So you guys basically follow the path that she's given you and you find this open area. And you can see there's a few people here. It's not anything crazy. Doesn't seem like it's a very busy part of part of the library. So you follow and go down to the right and then you find that small little alcove.
Speaker: You see that the floor is layered in like pillows and there's even like a little couch in the corner and a couple tables where you can set books and you see it's a fairly empty section. There's only a couple of books on the bookshelf. One of the books though immediately catches your eyes because it's a quite large book and on the cover it's a half sun half moon.
Speaker: with another smaller moon on the outside of it. And it reads, Theory on the Sun's Disappearance, volume one. Oh. Hello then. This just looks like what I'm looking for. Fascal, take book. You find it is very, very heavy. This is at least like a 25 pound book.
Speaker: If it was then I thought they'd be, considering it's mostly just paper in here. I would hope. So, upon opening this book, you notice that this isn't a language that you cannot read. I'll tell you when I can read it. Eh.
Speaker: I can read it. Yes. You've been around in ancient times or something. Do you recognize any languages this looks like? Let me ponder over it. He's gonna try to give it a read.
Speaker: nothing looks like scribbles on a page he's like he sits there scratching his chin he's like hmm yes i believe i could read this okay go on he sits there silent uh yes it uh says here that uh i have no idea what he's saying
Speaker: Do I happen to recognize like the individual like characters basically? Like see if I recognize them from a certain language I might have passed by. You do recognize the script a little. You know that this is fairly similar to Elvish. But it's not quite.
Speaker: Well, this is close to Elvish, but it's not exactly that. Hmm. I can read it. Okay. Let me try. Okay, okay. It says right here that... Ah yeah, there was a bit... How do you read?
Speaker: That's what I thought. I'll teach you to read at some point, Rashka. Maybe that big horn lady can read for us? Do you see my name? I'm sure I can ask her if there's a translator.
Speaker: And Foskel carried the book back to a lady. And, you know, he'll clop up the stairs to about halfway or whatever, and he'll be like, uh, miss. I'm so sorry. I was wondering if maybe you had a, if there was a translation of this book to common or maybe
Speaker: if there are somebody on hand who maybe knew what language it was in. Well, I'm not much of a reader myself.
Speaker: But it looks like it could be Sylvan. Oh, yes, I do believe I heard about Sylvan being similar to Elvish, but not quite in history. Not my history, unfortunately.
Speaker: I'm not sure if there's anyone here currently that can translate Sylvan, but give me just one second. Oh, thank you. She's going to stand up and suddenly being much, much taller.
Speaker: She opens the large door on the side of the counter. It opens up and you see her walk down the hallway. And you kind of wait there for just a few minutes. She comes back with a very, very small man.
Speaker: who is clothed in what seems to be a suit of some sort. A very long tie seems to drag on the ground a little bit. And you see two very small wings on his back and quite large glasses on his face.
Speaker: He has these very dim green eyes. He's bald balding That nice salt and pepper hair, you know around Very sparse and thin but you know, it's still there and his nose seemingly doesn't really exist and He looks up at you
Speaker: So, uh, you want to know someone that can speak Chauvin? Yes, please. And what book digit that you've got there? Um, Foskle will show the book to him and he'll flip it open to like the first page or so.
Speaker: Oh, okay. All right. Let's, uh, let's go back over there where you found the book and we can get into this. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. And, um, yeah, I'll lead them back.
Speaker: And so you guys reach back into the alcove and he doesn't seem to walk much. He more floats with his little wings, kind of flies. And then he rests himself on the couch that has the table in front of it and motions for you to set the book down. Okay. The book gets set down and Fos will take a seat at the table.
Speaker: Okay, so what is it that you want to know? Because I can go through this book in its entirety, or I can just tell you what you want to know if it's in here. I was looking specifically for maybe, this is a book
Speaker: about uh series about the why the sun went missing um i was wondering maybe um what the couple of those ideas might be and uh if they have any suggestions on how to how they would go about bringing it back
Speaker: Okay, so you want to know why the sun is gone. Yes. And you also want to know how to potentially get it back. Yes.
Speaker: Okay. Well, give me like two minutes to just read through this real fast. And I will point out some pick your same sections that are more helpful to you. Thank you very much.
Speaker: And you see him start to flip through the pages quite quickly. And just about a minute has passed, and he's already through about half of the book. And just another minute or two goes by, and he reaches the end, and he closes it. Ah, nothing? Shao, I got some answers for you, but...
Speaker: The book itself is not all that helpful. We all kind of know how the sun is gone for the most part, at least these studied individuals like myself.
Speaker: the book here says it is someone of power must have you know closed it off for some reason but our scholars are pretty certain it was a high level demon when they started coming over and invading
Speaker: basically cut off our connection with the gods. So we think that's why the sun is gone because we still have at least a little bit of heat and light coming from the moon and the stars.
Speaker: But the second moon itself is not all that bright, so we think the second moon is also a bit affected by the Sean's disappearance. But for the most part, it has to be some high -ranking demon.
Speaker: because they hold lots of power so bringing it back using at least that lens of belief either it seems like you either have to get them to you know get rid of the barrier or you
Speaker: have to kill them or incapacitate them in some way, form or fashion. But it seems like if that's what you're looking to do, you fellas don't seem like the type to go around killing high -ranking demons. So I don't know how you'll think about going about doing that. But at least have some answers for you.
Speaker: Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your help. I have a couple of questions. Oh, okay. Where's your nose? Rasha. It's quite all right. I like telling this story. Oh, okay.
Speaker: quite some time ago I was venturing out with this merchant caravan to get from one shitty to the next and we got ambushed by some nightcrawlers and
Speaker: One of them got a little bit too close for comfort and ripped my nose off. And a nice little portion of my face and I was out for about two weeks, but they couldn't fix my nose. They fixed my face though. And he points to kind of like a scar across his face. You know, they did what they could, but you know, couldn't get rid of the scar all the way.
Speaker: Um, it's quite faint now because that was, uh, quite some time ago. But, uh, you know, I've been traveling ever since. It never, uh, uh, never really, uh, got rid of my sense of adventuring and knowledge seeking. Uh, I still think I could go out there today.
Speaker: But I have a nice little job here and I'm basically the only person here that can speak shelving well enough to translate the larger text so they pay me a bit more. Okay. I have another question. Oh. Okay. What's a demon? You talked about demons. What's a demon? A demon is...
Speaker: Basically, a soul that has been trapped into the demonic cycle of bureaucracy. Basically, say you were to die today.
Speaker: your soul would go on to an afterlife at least as we understand it and sometimes your soul gets pulled into the demon realm demons are basically just corrupted souls that couldn't find a peaceful afterlife and they're basically like the embodiment of all evil not all of them are bad
Speaker: Hell, even, uh, Vareisa is, uh, she's a demon. We don't normally tell people that whole, you know, cause they get a bit, uh, they get a bit scared when they see demons, especially how they've been like taking over the world and all that. Uh, but she's very nice, very friendly, very smart. And, uh, we like having her around.
Speaker: I tried barking up that tree one time. It did not go that well, but you know, it really doesn't go well for fellas my age anyway. I guess I could bark, but it's more just a saying. I don't get it.
Speaker: I take it that this one comes from an actual village. He's not a goblin raised in society. No. Not my knowledge. No. Yeah. Seems a bit aloof. But that's okay. Everyone has room to learn. I'm sure I'll ask when I'll get the hang of it eventually.
Speaker: What? I wasn't listening. It's okay. Thank you for your help. What might be your name? Oh, I stopped going by a name quite some time ago. That's understandable. I just let people call me the Shilvin, even though I'm not Faye.
Speaker: At least by blood. Fair enough. Thank you very much for your help anyway. You're very welcome. It's kind of my job, but I like to do it.
Speaker: Yeah, so Dalon, how are you, uh, how are you holding up, buddy? He's just standing there like, I can't believe I am dealing with this shit. I don't know what the fuck is going on. Has the sun is gone? Luton, everywhere, they can talk now. And they are the most powerful beings on the entire planet, probably near the entire universe. He's just talking to himself, actually.
Speaker: Foskle, get up and kind of pat the a lot on the shoulder. Hey, the a lot. What? What? Oh, are you, uh, are you listening to our buddy here? Yes, yes, yes. No. I see. Well, it seems, uh, to bring the sun back, they're gonna have to confront the demon. Are you ready for that?
Speaker: He barely squeaks that out. I have a question for you, specifically for Mr. Skeleton. You do not know that I am a skeleton. He wags his finger inside of his armor as it clanks.
Speaker: I'm just telling someone they don't know. That's so funny. Uh, okay. Missed a night then. Yes, of course. Well, it kind of takes my question out of the ballpark.
Speaker: I guess I can come up with another question. Just making up rumors. OK, let's say theoretically you are a skeleton. OK. OK. How exactly did you go about, well, one waking up
Speaker: and two, walking around. Well, I'm very glad you asked this question because clearly I am naughty, as you say, skeleton. I am very clearly flesh and bone. Ignore that second part. He's just flesh. Yes, I'm merely just flesh. The bone is inside the flesh, of course.
Speaker: To answer your question, I have no fucking idea. I thought I was going to get some new knowledge, but I guess not. Hey, I'm sorry. I think, uh, I think the Alon has an awful lot of, uh, yeah.
Speaker: creating for knowledge on his theoretical situation as well. We have books on resurrection and skeletons, but I figured the best way to learn something is asking them yourself.
Speaker: So I thought this might be my chance, but... I guess not. But, you know, there's no harm in not always finding the answers. It just means I get to go looking for it, just like all the other ones.
Speaker: I am sure you will find it, but you know, I'm sorry to tell you that there's no skeleton here that could help you with your endeavor. And even if there was a skeleton, there's no way that he would possibly know
Speaker: how they have possibly raised because it had possibly, hypothetically, been eight, nine hundred years, a thousand, perhaps, who knows, I don't know what fucking year it is. That's it because of drugs, not because I am a skeleton, but, you know, hyperbole, as they say.
Speaker: So you do drugs? All the time. Absolutely. It doesn't sound quite nightly of you. They are nightly drugs, I assure you.
Speaker: I need to know what's out of character, sorry. I need to know what's defined as a nightly drug now, personally. He's winging it, you don't know. I'm gonna have to do some...
Speaker: research on these nightly drugs, I've never heard of them before. And could you give an example of one of them? No, because clearly drugs are illegal. So I'm not going to do drugs here in the middle of the library, but I can assure you and you could just going to have to take my word for it that it is in fact very nightly, very chivalrous drug.
Speaker: Uh, so, uh, drugs aren't illegal. Uh, not here. And especially not in the library. The library is essentially free from the law because we do quite a few things here that, uh, you can't do outside of here. So, uh, you know,
Speaker: If you have any of them on you, I'd like to learn something. No, they are all my drugs. You can't have them. No, sir, exactly. That is against the Nightly Code. Do not share your drugs. Your very nightly and chivalrous drugs. They are all yours. Which Nightly Code is this? This is the Order of Set. He stops himself.
Speaker: The order of, he looks around, paper shelf. The order of the paper shelf. Yes, precisely. Uh -huh.
Speaker: And you're not a skeleton. I am definitely not a skeleton and there is no reason whatsoever that you should even consider such a preposterous, how do you say, idea.
Speaker: Okay, with that, I'll just leave you guys in here and you can sort out whatever this is. On your own, I guess. It was a pleasure talking to you and telling you things that you needed to know. But goodbye, and he very quickly flies out of the room. Thank you! I'm out of search!
Speaker: I just want to interject. I rolled an insight check for Roshka during this to see whether he believed it, and I rolled a natural one. So Roshka is all on board. D 'Elon's gonna wait until he's gone, and then he's gonna, like, peek around, see if he's there, look around. Oh, wow, guys, I thought he was really on to me. Oh, that was scary. Oh, hey, hey, hey, don't...
Speaker: I don't think he, uh, he, uh, had any suspicions at all. Can I ask a question? Pat the alarm on the shoulder. Yes. What is your question? A drug is a thing that you consume and you get so fucking high, my friend. I mean, Luton. We are, we are not friends. Let's, let's.
Speaker: No, no, no. Hey. You are Luton. I am Knight. We are bound to be enemies, but you are very powerful, so there is nothing I can do to stop you. Can I have some drugs? No, you cannot have drugs. That would be very bad for the entire universe, even. Okay.
Speaker: I am, I am, I am 99 to 100 % positive you could kill a god, so... Well, Zen, it should be no issue slaying a demon, Daelon. No, he could very well do the all on his own. I mean, look at him. Oh, it's terrifying. I have another question. Yes. What's a god? Eh, you know, as a blue lady when countered. Ah, so I could kill her. No.
Speaker: Probably not. If your inner nature compelled you to become Wutong, then yes, of course, you could definitely kill God. I have no doubt about it. I don't want to kill anyone! Okay, that's a start. Well, they are very powerful beings that helped shape the world really of them.
Speaker: in a way that we cannot. So what's the difference between a god and a demon? Demons are, as Xiamen said, corrupted souls. And the demon that is currently
Speaker: causing issues for the world as scholars apparently know, is very powerful enough to cause issues for the gods and cut us off from them. Somehow. I don't get it. So when do we find a demon? He said we were supposed to stop the demons, right?
Speaker: I do not think we should fight a demon, I'm going to be honest with you. I do not think we are ready to... well, I mean, Luton, probably, but you and me, no, we would die very quickly. Oh, well, we don't just go from zero to demons, I assume that we... I assure you, Fosk, it does very well go from zero to demons very quick.
Speaker: Fine, then let's go to demon then. We had a god request set of us. So do we go to the thing next to the library? The guild? Yes, the guild. Do they have a demon? Um, I don't know. But we were looking for a specific demon, not just any demon. Yes, and...
Speaker: Yeah, so you can't just go out and ask people if they are demons, because if they're the one we're looking for, we will know. Okay? Okay. Okay. I get it. Okay. Okay. I do not think he gets it. I don't think he gets it either. Okay. So don't cause troubles for demons, Rashka. When we need to cause trouble,
Speaker: For a demon, I'll let you know, okay? All right. For now, just treat everyone as if they are people. Just how you've been treating them. Yes. Okay? Okay. All right, good. And D 'Elon, that goes for you too.
Speaker: I do not even dare dream of such a thing. I do not know what you are talking about. Okay, good. I am very chivalrous and very, very understanding. And, you know, I tell you, I know a bad situation when I see one. And that's all I am saying. That is all I am going to mention on the matter.
Speaker: things go very very zero to demon very quick and many people die many people many people yes i'm hungry okay sure can i cook food can i cook food for you guys it's sure sure um
Speaker: Well, I don't think there's much need to be cooking right now. We could probably find food somewhere. Okay, I'm gonna send this right now. Hey, not in the library. I'm telling you, he is Luto. You cannot tell him what to do. You are going to get us all killed. Watch me. As Rasha begins to pull out pots and pans and utensils. Rasha, Rasha, you can...
Speaker: No, no, no. This is not the place for it, okay? Fire and books do not mix. So, if we cook, it cannot be in the library. Yes, preferably in an area where others won't find it distracting. Okay, okay.
Speaker: Alright, so let's go. Fosk will kind of reach for Roshka's hand in order to lead him away. Yeah. Absolutely. Fosk is trying to keep these two opposite forces together. Alrighty, alrighty.
Speaker: Um, let's see. So we're in the rich people neighborhood. And I don't think rich people are going to take very kindly to a goblin cooking on their sidewalks. Just gonna put that one out there. Perhaps not. Roshka does not comprehend that concept. He does not understand why he can't just sit down and cook right outside the library.
Speaker: So basically, Fosk is going to look for a spot that won't disturb people. But it's not in the rich people neighborhood. Fosk is going to do his best to guide Rashka away from here so as to cause the least amount of trouble he can possibly cause with the little chef goblin.
Speaker: Okay. So, uh, go ahead and just do a, do a perception. That's a crick fail. So the only places that you can find are just.
Speaker: in the rich neighborhood. It seems like there may be a couple parks here and there. A couple little things. But you just see a bunch of yards. They look nice and empty. Perfect spot for cooking. You mentioned the park. At least that's a public area. No, no, this looks perfect. Ashka tries to hop over the nearest hedge. Ashka, no. Just let him do what he wants.
Speaker: And are you going to be hanging around to do that then? When we have an angry homeowner barking down our mix. Well, I will calmly explain that he is in fact Luton. And if he does in fact value his life and does not want to be eaten by Luton, then he should simply walk away. Ah. Rashka, get back here.
Speaker: Fast carping through the fence to get Rashka. What do you mean? This is a perfect spot. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I thoroughly disagree. But I'm already in it. I'm making him mad now. There's a time and a place for everything, Rashka. This is not the place. Please believe me.
Speaker: fine okay i'm gonna sew that part if anywhere if if nowhere else checks out then we're going to the fountain it'll just cook there
Speaker: So the fountain, that circular area is fairly open. There's quite a few patches of grass and whatnot. You see quite a few people here and some kind of having picnics and whatnot. Perfect. So this seems like a fairly good spot. Ah, there we go. Okay, it's a fountain. Here we are. Okay, Rashka, do your best.
Speaker: Yeah, I've got some beautiful frog legs, and I'm gonna cook up. You're gonna love it. Fosket's gonna give Deanna a look. I take offense to that.
Speaker: But you do not need to make me any food. I do not require sustenance. No, no, you're gonna like this. You said you weren't human, right? Yes, fine, sure. But you said in the library that you... I neither have the time nor the patience to explain.
Speaker: deception to you, but five. Oh, so you lied? Yes, essentially yes. I did a small little lie because you understand that a walking skeleton could be very dangerous for us. If people found out that I was a skeleton, as you say, they would hunt us down with pitchforks and
Speaker: Well, debal you. They can only tear me apart. But, you know, I could put myself back together. So it's not really a big deal for me, but I'm trying to help you out. That's stupid. Why would they attack you? Well... Because I'm a skeleton? You're not a bad skeleton, right? You're a good skeleton. Well, some people can only... Some people have a hard time...
Speaker: seeing past appearances in Ashka. Fosco looks straight at D 'Elon while saying that. D 'Elon's going to look back, sit down and put a shaky arm around Rashka. It is time that I explain to you the very deep intricacies of racism.
Speaker: Doesn't have the patience to explain lying, but absolutely has it to explain racism. Oh boy. He sits down and explains the nuance of racism. And with that, we will go ahead and take a break. What is that? Okay, now we're back.
Speaker: Dilan, you are speaking to Roshka about racism. Ah, you see, dear Roshka, there is a wonderful world out there that there are many different people, and so I want you to follow me.
Speaker: Follow me, follow me, follow into a racist sea. You are Luton, and my people spell it with the extra hard G. You use species in race to tell who's who. There's all types of stereotypes to choose. From Luton, to horse, to minotaur man, to demon, to elf, to skeleton. I'm sorry.
Speaker: From demon to horse to skeleton. I can't get the rest of it out.
Speaker: Sorry, my brother was more of a singer than I, but, you know, you get the point. Many people, many races, different mothers, different brothers, different sisters, different misters, all types of different things to be racist about, really. I mean, it's, you know, I'm not really a racist, I just, you know. So, racism's good.
Speaker: No, no, no. I really should have not sung that in a happy tone. Yeah. Okay. Arashka. Racism is bad, actually. Ignore Delon's happy tone when singing that song. He was weirdly equipped for that.
Speaker: Racism is making an assumption on somebody based on their outwards appearance rather than who they are as a person. So somebody might see deal on and they might be, oh, a skeleton. He's obviously hostile because X, Y, and Z. Or like, oh, a goblin. He must be hostile because
Speaker: He's a goblin, but you weren't hostile. Now are you, Roshka? So it'd be unfair for somebody to make that assumption about you. I mean, you say he's not hostile, but I clearly seen him throw a dagger straight to a man's knee. Oh no! That was an accident! You say that, but I am not so sure, Luto. Okay, I get it now. So racism is stupid. This is people are stupid. Yes.
Speaker: No, I am not racist. I just do not trust you because of who you are. Because he... Fosky immediately puts his face in his hand and like pinches his nose and is like, oh my God. Okay, listen, I suppose we've been traveling long enough. I've been traveling about a day.
Speaker: Long enough. That's long enough, yeah. In this day and age, you never know. A day is like a substantial part of my life, you know? Yeah, nicely. That's like more than a quarter of your life. That's like a percent of my life, yeah? Yeah. But listen, I do not hate you because you are little. I just do not like you because you are little. Oh, you don't like me?
Speaker: You see, when I was alive before being a skeleton, I was murdered by a pack of loutons. They stabbed me over a meat shake. I was caught off guard. I was not wearing my armor, by the way.
Speaker: if I had been wearing my armor clearly they could have not done anything to me but they came in my sleep while I was drying meat on a rack and they gave me a whole shankish shank and ever since you know I just do not trust Lupton you know it's a personal experience
Speaker: I don't get it. I do not know how to explain it to you any clearer than that. I'm afraid to come in though. I'm not going to stab you. Are you sure? Because you stabbed. I threw. I didn't stab. I threw.
Speaker: Big difference. He didn't mean to. Okay, he was clearly aiming for the rat. Okay, okay, okay. All I'm saying is that that blade was pretty precise. You've got to kind of aim pretty well to hit a kneecap. So as you're talking about the kneecap, you see right next to you,
Speaker: from the very, very small speck in the ground, the figure of Taylor B. Willer grow to his normal size. Oh! Hold it, what the fuck? Excuse me? Hello? I was wondering where you went. Hello! Well, I'm glad that I'm finally talking with...
Speaker: I've been trying to speak with you guys for hours. I, uh... I've just... I've been with you guys this entire time. But you all move. Very, very, very fast.
Speaker: Do you know how many times you people nearly stepped on me? No. You guys did more damage to me than he did to his, than Roshika did with me to his dagger. Which I'm fine by the way. I'm glad. I'm sorry.
Speaker: Well, we were on like the way I had to stop for a moment because I remember it in my bag. I traded some plants for some money and the potion and he told me it was a healing potion. But my God, that man never gives me a potion that actually works the way it intended. I was the size. I believe in my culture, we just call it Warsaw. In your tongue, that would mean skill issue.
Speaker: All right, first things first. One, don't create a fire in the library. Thank you. That's what I was saying. We'll make sure you have a kitchen to cook with. I'm carrying pots and pans with me. I also believe I said. I don't need a pot and a big kitchen. Good.
Speaker: But the thing is, if you create a fire in that place, it creates a giant fire, which will kill a lot of people. And we don't want to kill people that we don't have to yet. No, I don't want to kill anyone. I didn't think it was going to kill anyone. I'm sorry. And two, one of the reasons why racism is bad is we all have things that we're good at.
Speaker: And if we judge people before we actually see what they're good at, like, Basque here is good at not hitting me in the knee with a dagger. You are good at hitting me in the knee with a dagger. But you see the skeleton over here, he is really good at having nice looking armor.
Speaker: But people don't appreciate him for his armor. They just see the bone. And just like how people judge your kind as evil, just we, not gonna lie, people just think. With very good reason. As evil. But sometimes you are a good goblin. Oh, there are good goblins. But people won't see that. Exactly. Sometimes there are good, people are necessarily not good.
Speaker: are not evil. It depends on their situation. But I've talked a bit. I'm just glad that you guys finally stopped. And, uh, Oh my gosh, I just, that was the last, what, four, three hours. Are you okay? Take a break dealer. I'll be completely fair.
Speaker: I just pull out my water skin and just start chugging. Absolutely fair. Not to hash old things, but you know, 800 years ago, Bhutan was very, very feral. You could not even speak back then. Yes, but it's been 800 years. Oh, you should say Brutus. Brutus? Brutus? From Mahia Goblin Village. He's dumb as a rock. He sounds like he is very big.
Speaker: He's big. Yeah, he's almost like a human. Oh, good. He's not. He talks to rocks and trees, and then he gets mad at us when we don't remember the conversation. He's just going to recoil into himself. Not all companies can talk. He's very dumb. Not like me. I'm smart.
Speaker: Raskis, do you know what feral means? Yes, the rat is feral. It is outwardly hostile to anything because it runs off of instinct. Okay, so a lot of rats are rats. Yeah, pretty much. Or like a wild wolf.
Speaker: Well, no, a wolf is feral because they are not docile, you understand? Okay. Good job. He's going to pat him on the head. Well, uh, I, I whisper over the deal on, um, technically we attacked that rat first. He couldn't even tell if it was feral. As I say, no, he didn't give the rat a chance. Oh, um, now that you're here, do you want to eat my food?
Speaker: And frog legs. I've already eaten for the day. I'm good. It's not that I don't want to eat your food, but you see these berries are very good berries. Yeah, here's like three of them. This would make an excellent addition to my stew. It's a rat stew.
Speaker: Well, I do not have a stomach, so... or a taste buds, or a tongue, or a esophagus, or intestines, or... really, anything. But you don't need those to eat! Here, have a go!
Speaker: You see, he puts it in his mouth. It just like clinks inside the helmet. You see it, you hear it rattle all the way down and it falls out of his rib cage. Yes. Delicious. Absolutely. Oh no, you're enabling him. Um, where did you.
Speaker: All right. I collected some rat meat from earlier. Oh, God. Oh, no. Right now we're in the middle of like a park -esque fountain area. Tiller for context. We're outside at least, and not in somebody's yard. Those are improvements. No. Big improvements.
Speaker: Out of character, did he just start cooking while D 'Alon was singing about racism? Ah, so however much he got of that is up to a thousand times. I mean, he came to the conclusion that we wanted. For a brief moment.
Speaker: I wouldn't try to be as happy when I sing. So, what did we find out from that book? Okay, so what we found out from the book was that there is a powerful demon who
Speaker: basically cover, like, put a block between our connections to the gods. And that is why Zezan is not shining anymore. And in order to bring Zezan back, current theories are that we would have to
Speaker: incapacitate that demon or convince him somehow to not do what they're doing, etc. I see. It looks like we have a lot of work on our hands. Very much.
Speaker: And if we kind of like jiggle these pieces of information together, we definitely do. It does sort of align with what that daughter stole. Yes. Foskle will kind of look around to make sure that like nobody is like, I don't know, severely paying attention to their conversation. I do not like where this is going. Make a perception check.
Speaker: Alright, um... Uh, in 11. To you, everything looks just fine. Everyone's going about their business. It's, uh... This character... I, um... We are in a public area.
Speaker: We probably should be a little more careful. You think? Oh, really? It's not like I have not been saying that the entire time. You were awful quiet while we were talking about it. I was listening very intently. But I do not have a brain, so I do not retain memory.
Speaker: You'll get the pass this time. Good, I'm glad we have settled that. Sorry, I was just swept up in the emotion of trying to catch up. That's what we've learned. Should have ran faster. I'm sorry.
Speaker: You know, I'm not gonna lie, the fact that I caught up with you guys. Yeah, no, that's really impressive. That is a feat all on its own, yes. Honestly, it was a struggle keeping me... I guess you could say it was too. I was just saying you go very fast, Arashka. I guess you could say that you facilitated putting a tiny amount of energy into your running.
Speaker: I don't get it. It's okay. So, what do you guys think we should do now? Since we got the information, you have some semblance of what's going on. Should we try to find either a place to sleep or try to see if we can find another quest to be bound to? Well, I don't want to sleep, so... Can we sleep in the library?
Speaker: I like that pig lady. No. Now, Roska, she is not your mother. What? Nothing. Don't worry about it. You're too young. Really not my sweet innocent Roska. So...
Speaker: Out of character, is Roshka still trying to offer you a Fosk food? Absolutely. I just look at Fosk knowing that they've been delaying this this entire time and I've just been looking at them like, ooh, that's on you. And I would say that was delicious.
Speaker: I'm packed in the corner. Okay. Well, uh, uh, down the hatch. Okay. Oh, this is going to be diseased, isn't it? Um, go ahead and roll a survival check for, uh, cooking it. Okay. That's a Metro Bunny. Yo! Yo!
Speaker: Yeah, he seasoned this rat to the night. This stew, in addition with the good berries, feels so good going down. It tastes fantastic. It feels wonderful, nice and warm, perfectly cooked. The rat meat is nice and tender. It just melts in your mouth. I don't like that phrase, actually.
Speaker: But, um, yum. Okay. See, it was delicious. Okay. And Fosk looks so relieved right now. He's trying to hide like the extent of his expression from Roshka, but like this man is so relieved right now. Good job, Roshka. I'm getting really good at this.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, your air practice shows, buddy. Good job. You'll give Roshka like a celebratory pat on the head. He's beaming, absolutely beaming. Aw, him. Well, I guess your taste buds still work after all, Dialon.
Speaker: Yes, of course, totally. Why wouldn't I not? I am playing a human. Do we go to the guild now? If we want a mission or some direction, as a librarian, they'd say that
Speaker: They did quite a bit of work around the town and therefore were exempt from normal laws around here. So I'm assuming that has to do with the guild as well. And so maybe if we want some direction or something of this art the guild would be the place to check out.
Speaker: Yes, that would be a very, very astute observation. And I believe that we should go right away, and never speak about me eating bones again. Let's go. Eating bones? Well, at least you'll be able to keep up, Mattiller.
Speaker: Yeah. Do you need more water? I have a water skin. No, I'm good now. To the guild. So you guys make your way back from whence you came? Yep. And on the left side, it's the same scene. The sign says guild hall. There are two large double doors and there are the smaller doors in each of the doors.
Speaker: Okay. I checked, uh, and trying to open the large door. Uh, we're, we're going with the, the, the actual door, the human size door. I'm going to go in the small door. I would be going, I go towards the small door, but then I realized I'm no longer small.
Speaker: and then just shake my head and then go towards their normal sized door. Okay, so you guys enter the - I was enjoying the small door. Enter the guild hall and you're immediately greeted by a swath of people. Oh my. Oh god. There are many people, all shapes and sizes and colors in different types of armor and clothes and they have many different weapons and items and equipment.
Speaker: Um, you notice where there should be probably a straight shot to what looks like a, uh, another desk similar to Veracis, uh, there is a very long line, uh, people just kind of standing there and waiting. So the line is large enough that, uh, you can't really see what is at the desk. Um.
Speaker: So does it look like there's a line of people just to the desk or they're crowding around? It is just to the desk. It seems at least decently organized. Is the end of line in sight? Yes, it's right in front of you. Oh, pug. I mean, Foskle joined the line better. If we get far through it and I don't know, we can just leave or something if it's not something we're interested in.
Speaker: What are you doing? Shouldn't we be going up there? Oh, well, you'll see. How about this? Well, one of us will wait online and spot. I guess we could draw sticks to see who will be the one to wait and the others go upstairs. I would like to roll perception. OK, what is the aim? Not for anything important.
Speaker: I want to roll perception to see the feng shui of this room. I want to notice the lighting and the way that the wood is shaped and the architecture of this place. And if there's any art here, he is very French. He has to. Okay, that works for me. Go ahead and roll.
Speaker: That is a nat 20 for 22. So this room does have quite a bit of art in it. And the architecture within it is quite beautiful.
Speaker: However, there is a lot of contrasting tones just on the walls, on the floors, the tables, the chairs. It seems very mismatched and it seems like it was just kind of pieced together with whatever they had or whatever they did. And it seems very successful nowadays, but it doesn't seem like they've had a desire to change it at all because this looks quite old.
Speaker: But it's definitely off. This place is filled with no culture. Oh? That's not supposed to mean the other one. It looks fine to me. There is no art, no ordinance, no elegance, no... What is how you say...
Speaker: Checois, pizzazz. Pizzazz? Pizzazz? Well, it is quite old, I do suppose. Even the holes back in my homeland, they were much more ordained than this. This is...
Speaker: This is... amateur. You hear his voice crack as if he's about to cry. Dylan is being weird again. I am very emotional right now, okay? It has been 800 years. I'm sorry. You wanna hug?
Speaker: Yes, guys, moves to hug you. He collapses into a pile of bones. Oh, sad pile of bones. So you can give it a hug. Yeah, they stand on top of you. When you give him a hug, even though he is
Speaker: audibly shaken by the feng shui of this room, but he begins to comfort you. He pats you on the back with one of his arms and he's like, it'll be okay. We will find elegant somewhere in this place. I don't know what elegant is, but yeah, we can find it.
Speaker: Let me explain. Think of it as if there is what you cook, which is very nice. It is doable. And then there is the work of like a palace chef, a five -star chef, yes? Why would he have stars? That is ranking for a chef, yes. Oh, I want to be the five -star chef.
Speaker: Yeah, you would typically meet them in a palace, yes. They'd cook for the king and the queen and... Can we go to the palace? The dukes and whatnot, but it'll be okay, Raska. We will find you a five -star chef, we will find elegance, and it will be okay. It'll be okay. Fosk is giving his spot in line just listening to this, mayhem.
Speaker: You do notice that there are a few people just kind of looking at you. What are you looking at? I'm very emotional here. They turn away. Foske is gonna put up his hand, like blocking his vision from them as he looks away. Oh no. What have I gotten into? Oh Foske. He'll compose himself, build himself back up inside of his armor.
Speaker: okay deal on calm down not a big deal not everybody is as elegant as you not how it always is but we will have to do okay I am composed now
Speaker: So the, uh, the line, uh, is moving as all of this happens, uh, very slowly, but you see person after person is being taken care of until you get close enough. And you notice that, uh, it's almost an exact copy of Teresa at the desk.
Speaker: Except instead of the long flowing black hair, it's tied into a very tight bun. Cute. I intimidate her. What? I don't know, I'm just kidding. That's so rude. I'm just kidding. And now... Now now, we just talked about racism. I was wondering, what tasks does it seem like this person is doing? Like, what can I get a read on what's going on?
Speaker: You can see that there is a board right next to her. There are places on a map on this board, a bunch of pins. And you also see that she is like almost constantly writing and talking at the same exact time and then placing pins on the map in the middle of all of that. Okay. Interesting.
Speaker: Is she sending people to hell? It doesn't seem like it. Why are you here? Shouldn't you be in the library? The demon kind of looks down the line at you. There's still a few people in front.
Speaker: And she just kind of laughs for a brief moment. Aww. Yeah, at least she's got a sense of humor. Did I say something funny? Yeah, let's, uh, I say to, um, Rashka, let's, uh, wait till we're at the desk before, uh, we try to get the person's attention. Okay. How long does this line? It's all good.
Speaker: Well, it's been moving and you only have a couple of people in front of you now. I think, how long have we been waiting in line? Probably not more than like five minutes. Oh, okay. She's a swift lady. Well, Fosk has been waiting in line five minutes. We were playing the Three Stooges over by the side. I think... That's a good point. I have a very dumb idea.
Speaker: Oh no, I'm scared. I'm gonna walk up to people just like the people in front of us and tap on his shoulder and I would like to roll persuasion on the people in front of us to convince them that we were actually here before them.
Speaker: Just gaslight them into. Oh no! Snowman. I want to gaslight them into. Wow, thank you for holding my spot. Yeah, I'll go up to the first guy and be like, ah, yes, thank you, brother. Ah, man, I am really glad that you held my spot. I was here before you, but I had to be drawn away because my mother was dealing with her portages.
Speaker: Go ahead and roll persuasion That's a 14 plus 6 That's a dirty 20
Speaker: So the guy looks at you, and he's a bit confused at first. He doesn't remember saving a spot, but your story seemed oddly convincing enough that he's like, oh, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker: That's okay. Yeah, no problem. These are my friends. Come, friends, yes. Thank you for helping me with my mother's porridges. This nice fellow is letting us go ahead of him because he was clearly holding our spot and not questioning that at all. What are you talking about? I'm gonna go up to the next person and do the same thing. Oh my god. Go ahead and roll again.
Speaker: I'm just going to move from the line at this point just to see how this goes. I'm just going to stand from a distance and just watch. The next person, I'm going to tap on their shoulder and be like, ah, yes, hello, my friend. Yes, you were very graceful at holding my spot. And I appreciate you letting me go ahead of you. What about your mother's porridges?
Speaker: Yes, my mother's porridges. I was, don't worry about that. I was helping with mother's porridges. I didn't know you had a mother. That's like 20 minutes ago. That's a webin.
Speaker: I have a plus six in persuasion. So this is a much larger individual. She stands probably about two or three feet higher than you. She looks down at you and she says, I was holding your spot.
Speaker: Yes, you were holding my spot. You don't remember? That's kind of rude. Are you sure? I have not ever seen you. I am absolutely sure. How could you forget this face? That is rude. You even gave me your mailing address. And what is that?
Speaker: He's gonna take a random guess. I will roll Persuasion, or either Persuasion or Deception if I have to. Whatever is more Gaslight -y. Roll 1d100 to see if you get the right number. I'm gonna look her dead in the face. Silence kind of comes between us for the minute and I go,
Speaker: Then in the face and I let the silence sink in and I go 42 North Street, of course. That is strangely close enough. I don't remember giving you information that was close to that.
Speaker: Okay, well, you definitely told me 42 North Street. If you didn't want me to mail you love letters, then you should come on to me. And why would you lie to me like that? I don't remember. Well, I think you should go and sit in the corner and think about your actions and kind of reflect on yourself as a person.
Speaker: Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry. You better be. That was very rude. I'm hurt, honestly. And so she goes away and sits in the corner. How many people are left? Just one. Do the same thing.
Speaker: I think I tried to go over at this point. Theodong, please. I look over at the person at the desk. I'm like, that person's watching. Let's just wait for this one person. They're speaking with her as we're doing this now.
Speaker: I think it would be good just if we just wait this one person out. Fosch is maintaining his original spot. Well, I'm just trying to help. We have things to do, places to be, quests to complete. What's them waiting a few more minutes? I mean, we are tasked by a god, my friend. I think that's very important. Talking about everything. Yes, but we also want to keep coming back here.
Speaker: mate, those two were with her, but this one is. Let's probably not interrupt the lady so that nothing bad happens because of it. I think you underestimate my powder friend. If it's going to make you happy, I'll be late. I appreciate you. As Tiller walks away, I'm going to lean over in the guy's ear. No.
Speaker: You're doing great, but you kind of stink. You see him very quickly look down for a brief moment and he lifts up his armpit real fast, smells, and puts it back down and lowers his head slightly.
Speaker: As he's still talking to the lady, at this point he does not respond. No, don't be a sour puss. Come on. Oh my God.
Speaker: Don't make me out you in front of all these people. I will tell them you are with me.
Speaker: Dylan's going to throw an arm around him like we're pals. There's two pods hanging out in the line waiting for this very stinky man to hurry up his conversation. Oh my God. And so as Phos gets over there and you say that, he does finish his conversation and walks away hurriedly. See, look, everything is fine. Hello, how are you doing?
Speaker: She she doesn't look up quite yet. But she starts writing something. OK, what's what's your name? My name is Dylan Leibodra. OK, how do you spell that last name? That is B, E, U.
Speaker: Hyphen. When he says hyphen, he like moves his finger up and down. Hyphen. Doire. D -O -I -R -E. Okay. And what are you here for? We are here for, what are we here for?
Speaker: Hello, I'm Saruya. We're in a new town. We heard Saruya's guild here and I was really just wondering what kind of work you do here or... We're here to kill the demons! Hey, whoa, Roshka! Hey! What? That's what he said? No, shush. Okay, Saruya!
Speaker: She looks, she looks, uh, stops writing and looks down at Roshka and she laughs a little bit. Are you the one that said I looked like Vareisa? Yeah, that's me. Yeah, that's my twin sister. She works in the library and I work here. Roshka looks absolutely flabbergasted.
Speaker: Wait, do you know what twins are? No. Oh, nevermind. I'm just, I'm just thinking about the talks of racism we're gonna have to have after this. You see sometimes of Ashka. Um, so you, you say you want to kill all demons? No, not all. There's a, uh, we actually have a job for them. Oh, oh God.
Speaker: There's a few of them, actually. Let's see if there's one that aligns with inner capabilities first. Okay, sorry. He's very eager. Yes, he has Luton, after all. I mean, you know how it is with Luton. He's gonna lean in, he's like...
Speaker: How about a pretty devil like yourself give us something a little easy to start up with? The little Tom is still learning. Yeah. Uh, yeah, that sounds like something I could do. Um, sorry.
Speaker: We have a job where there's this cult that's worshipping a group of demons. You could go in there and disrupt them and probably kill all of them, take whatever they have in their treasury and bring it back and then we'll pay you some of it. Yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker: That sounds good to you. Do we know what the cult is called? No. Do we know that they exist? Yes. What I said. We just auction off of reports and other things. That's how we do things for the most part. Give people jobs based on things we've heard. And if they come back and there was nothing, then we pay them a little bit. Okay. See, there's a chance it's nothing, Dylan. Oh dear.
Speaker: Um, are you actually the, uh, adventuring sorts? Yeah. You look, uh, very sparsely equipped. Yes, I am a very brave and chivalrous knight, actually. I have daggers. Cause, uh, you, you kind of have to go, uh, you have to go out outside of town and that's, uh, it's dangerous.
Speaker: I walk over at this point and I just wonder, if we accept one mission, can we accept another at the same time or are we limited to only one mission? It is one mission per group. Okay. Alright, I definitely don't think that we should accept this. We just arrived. We are very new to town and we are... We work well together, but do you have anything that's like...
Speaker: uh, lower, uh, to a newer adventure groups level. Uh, level. Uh, I mean, we have sections and groups and grades, but I don't, I don't know about levels. Level metaphorically. Yes. Sorry. I meant grades, uh, back in my village, we had, well, not village, but
Speaker: the town overall, I heard great tales of adventures and how it was different grades for different levels of missions. What is your grading system like? Well, it starts at zero, so blossoming adventurers and people of the sort. Then it goes up all the way to 10. Level 10 is basically your highest grade.
Speaker: It's where you get all the hard missions and all the fun little things that come with that. So, uh, what's the difference between grade one and grade zero? Uh, it is, um, virtually negligible. Uh, cause they are pretty much the same quests most of the time. It just makes you feel better about your progress.
Speaker: Grade one and grade two? Still kind of negligible, but you start getting things like beasts and groups of things. I think we should stay within one or two. Do you have any suggestible grade one or two missions for us? Yes, the cult is actually a grade two mission.
Speaker: How about grade one? There is nothing pertaining to demons in grade one currently. Alright, so I look over to the rest and I say, I guess we're doing a cult one. Oh yes, little one. What's a cult?
Speaker: Um, it's a group of people that, uh, worship one thing or set of things, whether that is, uh, deities or people or rules, and they, uh, work together as a group and, uh, basically make a small community. Oh, so I come from a cult. Oh, do you think so?
Speaker: A village. Okay. That's cool. Just don't, uh, just make sure your cult doesn't end up on our job board. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I definitely have talked to my people. Okay. Uh, well, with that being said, uh, do you, does your group have a name?
Speaker: Or are you just going to use Mr. D 'Alon's name? I'm just using D 'Alon's. How about the misunderstood? I don't know if we are misunderstood, I mean... I don't know, I feel like...
Speaker: I look over us and I'm just like, I would say we are less misunderstood and more of misfits. I don't understand that word either. Yeah. Yeah, we will explain later, but I think misunderstood fits us extremely well.
Speaker: I don't think so, but who am I except an 800 -year -old man? Liam, would I know what year I came from? You would not, but you know approximately that it has been quite some time.
Speaker: Yeah. Yes. I think we're going to go with the misunderstood as our group. Okay. So I'll put you guys down as the misunderstood and how will payment be split? Is it going to be just one payment or is it split four ways? It's going to be, I think we agreed split five ways and make one for the party fund everybody. Yeah, we will split it five ways. Okay.
Speaker: That works for me. Let me go ahead and put your pin on the map and direct you towards your goal. Thank you very much. So she gets up, puts a pin on the map and sits back down. I'm going to, I'm going to lean over the table and pretend like nobody's looking at me and I'm going to slide nothing across the table as if I were sliding money and be like, how about you write slightly less misunderstood.
Speaker: Slightly less misunderstood? Oh, okay. Okay, it's a slightly less misunderstood group. You didn't hear that. Yeah, so you're going to leave town, go north for about 15 miles, and then you'll find the temple in which the cult stationed.
Speaker: Supposedly. If I look at her, does she look like she's hungry at all or not hungry? How do you tell if someone's hungry or not? Does she look like she's very attentive? Does she look like she has a lot of energy?
Speaker: Yeah. Like, is she hangry? Just roll an insight check. All right. One second. Sorry. Fosky, can you lift me up a little bit? Yeah, sure. Here you are, buddy. 19 plus 5, so 24.
Speaker: Uh, I mean, she does look a bit, a bit worked, um, probably about the middle of the day. So, you know, she's been doing this for quite some time and she moves people pretty fast. So you have to imagine she's seen quite a few people. I offer her a good beer and I say, ma 'am, uh, thanks for all the information. You look rather, um, tired. Um, I was, I scound you in the woods for a lot of herbals and remedies. This might be able to help you at least lift your spirits a little.
Speaker: Thank you for the hard work. She takes it and she smiles at you and just sets it on her desk for now. And she says, thank you. I appreciate that. I was going to say that's enough nutrition to last you at least for the day. Hopefully you can get your energies back up. Have a great day. Thank you.
Speaker: ruschka having seen two people at this time having done the same action of handing things over to her will mimic this as fosk lifts him up he will slide two shiny rocks across the
Speaker: I cross the thing and say, how about you just keep this between the two of us? When Raskah does that, Dealon looks on with pride. You told him that. She looks to the rocks. She smiles and giggles a little bit and she says, OK, thank you. Proudly stomps off.
Speaker: At that moment, Deewon feels like a proud father. Did I do that? He'll turn to Fosk and then look at Roshka and he'll go, you know what, Luton, you're all right. People do that, right? Absolutely. That's how you get around in the world, my friend.
Speaker: Okay. And with that, you are on your way and we will go ahead and end session. That was great.
Speaker: Thank you for listening to this episode of the Salambia Saga podcast. I'm your DM, Anthony, and would like to remind you that we are novice podcasters with very novice editing skills and are doing this for both your and our enjoyment. This means that the end product could be just a little rough. I would like to once again thank you for all of your time and we'll see you next time. Bye -bye.
