Speaker: I appreciate you guys, man. Absolutely. All right. So um like Mark was saying, when we were coming on the show, I was just scrolling through a Facebook or either those tiktok look or TikTok videos.
Speaker: And I came across your music and I listened to, looked like you guys were having a house party. yeah And y'all were doing one foot, you were doing one foot in the grave. and And you know, when I listened to the first part of it, I was like, oh, wonder if there's more to this. So I kind of got stuck in that.
Speaker: What else does this man do? This is fantastic. Your music is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you. so um yeah we we played uh fire and rain yep last year the first song that we did was was um fun yeah yeah but it was it was before he put the video itself up gotcha we had the original part where you just had the you know the um the picture of the um of the song yep album yep just the artwork and then this is a great question right here uh where'd you get your inspiration from um to be honest uh i'm kind of um second third generation musician all my uh family kind of you know play a banjo or some kind of guitar or sing and
Speaker: Honestly, the inspiration just comes from living. I feel like real songs have to come from somewhere real. And One Foot in a Grave and Fire and Rain are no different. Both of those records were written from a real place.
Speaker: And it allowed me to kind of like tap into something to connect with the fans with. And that's that's truly what you know you set out to do as an artist is to connect with the fans and to have a record like One Foot in the Grave and Fire and Rain, people connect with that.
Speaker: I see it all the time, especially since One Foot in the Grave has been dropped, that people I don't even, like ah probably would have never gotten to meet the chance to talk to or reaching out to me with their like stories and stuff. and It's powerful. It's deep. It's heavy. You know, i think that a lot of artists set out to kind of just ah that that's and I'm guilty of this like they they want the attention.
Speaker: You know, you you kind of you kind of like want people to see what you're making and creating. But um i not ah Not a lot of people understand how heavy it is when you connect with the people like that. What like how many kind of problems people are going through and when ah you you know you write something that they tell you that's saving their lives at the moment, it's kind of heart-wrenching, man.
Speaker: But it's a beautiful thing. I say this all the time. Isn't it a blessing to bitch about the things you prayed for? ah So um it's it's it's kind of like i'm I'm living exactly what I prayed for.
Speaker: That's really cool, man. i'm I'm really glad that you're getting everything. So you're getting everything you really wanted out of it too, right? It's not... You know, um and and there's a lot of things you can chase, you know, if you needed to, but you're not one of those guys. You're not out there going.
Speaker: just want the I just want to go chase the fame. I want i want to do i want to do the all the parties and and all that stuff. Yeah, it would be easy. it would be easy to ignore the pain in people um if I was just like partying. i know that I know you guys just said we were having a house party, so we do party, but that's not what it's all cracked up to be. You know what I mean? um We make sure that that's family. and That's not just some random people that we're hanging around. and you know so yeah.
Speaker: That's a tight knit group that you guys had at the at the party, right? yeah the film the pd Yeah, family and close friends. Yeah, it looks like we're having a lot fun. Yeah. And then same thing with ah Fire and Rain, right? That's you and your wife.
Speaker: Yeah. Right. near brand new land Yeah. um So I started writing that record. Man, it's what's crazy is now it's been over a year. Doesn't feel like Fire and Rain's been out but for a year, but ah Yeah, i started writing that record because I wanted to express to her you know how i was feeling. And if you listen to the first verse, it's all about water and fire references. you know She drowns out water, every old flame, flame. I'm a burning man. She's a hurricane. Oh, I'm hot to the touch. I'm blazing enough.
Speaker: Her waters are rising, always raising me up. You know what I mean? So it's ah I kind of was trying to is it would use the elements as well as my ability to write a song.
Speaker: Yeah. No, it was it was absolutely phenomenal. Like when mark Mark was like, hey, which song do you want me to play? And they gave me, like, would you give me two options for... I was like, no, Fire Rain, play that one. so Fire and Rain was one, and I can't remember the other one I was like, do you want me to play ah One Foot in the Grave again? you said, no, hold that one. yeah yeah both records are Both records are close to my heart and favorites, to be honest.
Speaker: I already had Fire and Rain already downloaded to go, and then he put it he wrote me back and said, put this one. I was like, damn, I already have it down. Okay. Works for me. well Fire rain a perfect love story, man.

Speaker: And it started off as like, we were gonna kind of... We were kind of gonna do this like ah California Love by Tupac kind of vibe, but in the country, like in cornfield. So instead of like riding through the desert on fucking like doom buggies and shit, we were gonna be in like big trucks. And fucking, you know, just kind of like catch that footage. But then he got the idea to, re he and Matt's really good at communicating. Like, that's that's one thing that I need to get better at and got to admit that. But man, at this particular moment, Matt reached out to these boys, the Shocker, their motorsport group. And they got like ATVs and side-by-sides, good people out there. And they're from Virginia, Illinois. And they invited us to their property and their land. And dude, I'm not lying. We had like a little mini festival out there for Wolfpack. So Wolfpack is pretty much what you see us kicking it. Like, but caught on video.
Speaker: Are you doing any of the mud parts and stuff like that? Are you? Man, I would love to. i haven't got my foot in the door yet. I know a place. Man, I would love to.
Speaker: Yeah, honestly, every every bit of help is, like, necessary at this point right now. And, you know, I'm trying to build as many bridges. Okay. understand Listen, there's a there's a mud park that I have a couple of friends that they own it, and they always do big shows out there. They they do They do big ah big pots out there for the mud run and stuff like that. So they'll do like a $1,000 pot and stuff.
Speaker: but yeah That's the cool thing about the style is that you can't really place me in in in a specific genre right now. you know So as much as we have the deep songs and the heartfelt songs and the love songs, there's also songs that we're going to rock the whole crowd with.
Speaker: And just have a good time, right? Yeah, dude. you You'll catch yourself singing the hook. You know? that Like Wolfpack. Outside with my dog, there's a wolf pack. Masked up. Boots on. Where are my wolves at?

Speaker: That's fantastic. um If you... So what do you do for travel right now? Are you, are you you doing shows there locally and, um, we drive? Yeah. I mean, it's pretty much in Illinois. Okay. Um, I've had a few different people reach out to me.
Speaker: Um, Syracuse, New York, um, and Bath Springs, Tennessee, couple of promoters reached out to me. and I'm just trying to, uh, just trying to make sure I'm doing the right thing, you know, and not rush into anything too soon and get myself stuck out of town in a a bad position. cause Of course. You know, at at the end of the day, I'm chasing the dream. You know what I mean? But I'm not stupid.
Speaker: No, totally understand. um are you so do you guys travel in a van? Do you got a camper? How do you guys do F-150 and an Explorer. F-150 and an Explorer.
Speaker: Hit the motel. Hotel, hotel. Let's go. Let's go. And honestly, we're the type of people that will will come there, do the show, and drive back. Really? Yeah, unless it's too far. Obviously, if it's 13 plus hours, we're going to stay. Oh, yeah. You know, three and a half, four hours. We're we're right back home. Sure.
Speaker: Stop at Denny's. And that's like a ritual now with me and my wife and the crew. We stop at Denny's because they shut them down here in Springfield, Illinois. They don't have any Denny's. Really? right so It's a diner if you didn't know what Denny's is. we we we know what We got one. yeah Good, good. they I love their strawberry French toast, like the stuffed ones. But anyways, we stopped there. It's like a ritual, but we'll head back home.
Speaker: We legitimately will drive all the way back home after the show. So we are adding you to a list, Ronnie, of artists that we've had on the show in the past. I don't know if you've heard of a band called Felicity.
Speaker: um Felicity does a song called Charlie Sheen. And they do a lot of shows at like the Waffle House. Okay. okay i well know but you got You got songs like that. You got songs like Weather. You have Emo Trash with a Grayson Zane.
Speaker: Yep. um You know, they got a lot of good songs. Okay. I'll have to check them out. I haven't heard of them, but I'll definitely go check them out after this. um Another gentleman that we've had on the show is is a guy named Richie Ramone. I don't know if you've ever heard of a band called the Ramones.
Speaker: the Ramones yeah of course heard yeah bit yeah so we've had Richie Ramone on on the show yeah i see me guys been around since 2023 dude we're trying we're you know there's we we do like you we are chasing a dream man we're yes we're not doing it for clout though you know what i mean like we're doing it because we're trying to introduce people to what we enjoy like what we find and what we enjoy and like I said because You know, I'm sitting here scrolling on my phone at work because I didn't have nothing better to do. And I'm going through and I i catch the song.
Speaker: And the minute I do, i like i said, I went down that rabbit hole and I started looking and I sent it to Mark. I was like, Mark, tell me what you think about the song. We're good friends.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, and if he's got a movement going on social media, like I was saying, dude, it's really tough to stay up on those messages for every platform. yeah And you always have the greatest intentions to go, okay, I've seen it. Because I'm a man working for a living still chasing the gender, dude. and I do PDR for a living. that's I fix dents on vehicles. Like, that's what I do for to bring the bacon home. You know what I mean? Yeah.

Speaker: uh kind of but a lot of people know him i'm pretty sure right i know who you're talking about oh man it says something in the orange tells me we're not done i just can't remember his name at the it's escaping my brain right now oh zach brian zach zach oh yeah za ryan sorry my and everything up here right now is lyrics and rhythms everything else just escapes uh alyssa asked what was your inspiration for getting into music we kind of touched on that earlier your third fourth fifth generation ish right music's just been in the blood did you just start one day like start singing something that you wrote or humming something like how did that how did that go down well i began as a rapper so i started to learn how to put like syllables together in music form
Speaker: And then as that started to get better, um i honestly just kind of like started to use harmonization.
Speaker: And then once I started to be able to harmonize a lot better, started to try to hit different octaves. So it was just, I'm self-taught. Every note you've ever heard from me is self-taught.
Speaker: um And so it just kind of ah evolved. when you When you were in the studio, who did you already have the rhythm for One Foot in the Grave?
Speaker: Oh yeah, yeah, when I went to the studio I was prepared. When I laid it down, ah both ah ah the engineer that records, which is John Smith, and then my videographer as well, which is 55 North, they were both pretty stunned. There's a video out that's on the social medias that you just see, you see John kind of turn around in his chair after I hit one of the the notes. And he's kind of like, I know I didn't just hear him sing that like that. And then my buddy that usually has like, he's never speechless. You know, he has, he's he could be very descriptive with his words. um He was like, don't, I don't know what, I don't know, I don't know what just, saw you know, he was, I caught him so off guard. So yeah, the studio, the first impression was pretty cool.
Speaker: Cause they didn't expect that. Mom said you've been doing it since you 14. Music, yeah. Did you take music in school?
Speaker: where yeah I mean, I'm from where music was in school no matter what. So everyone took, you know, band or whatever music class. But i at that point, you know, I was a little hardhead, knucklehead.
Speaker: You didn't want nothing to do with it? No, i no, no. It's not that I didn't want music. I just wasn't worried about band class, that's for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not renting a trumpet. Yeah, and if you gave me a flute, cool. I'll take it home. Tell me when you want it back. I'm never playing this thing. Yeah, we're going to psych everybody out. Speaker: I have three kids now, Mateo, Cammie, and Elijah. um And I mean, i don't think that ah we're planning to have any more kids. I'll leave that to the children to figure that out if the family grows any more than it already has. um But yeah, I mean, dude, chasing the dream.
