Speaker: Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Annie. And I'm Jemina. Let's whine. and as Annie just said, but it wouldn't be cut. It's been a long week, but it's only Tuesday, Wednesday, who knows what day it is anymore. But we're recording this on a Monday and it's been a long week. So that should tell you a lot about what kind of week it's going to be. Should tell you all you need to know. i told she was the transition. i was the intro outro. And then i sat there and waited for her to start. So that is where my head is at right now, you guys.
Speaker: We just sat in silence. It's okay. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and stare at each other, you know, really reconnect. Look into each other's eyes lovingly, so lovingly. um Happy Halloween week, you guys.
Speaker: my gosh. Halloween week is here, and I don't even think we've talked about what our costumes are going to No, I don't think we have, but lucky us. We have a little chitty chat episode today, which is so fun. So before we jump into anything about lives, life lately, life et cetera, the kids, let's wine with our wine of the week.
Speaker: And this week we are drinking 13 Rams Pinot Noir. And I have to say the bottle sold me. It's so cute. Honestly, I didn't even know what kind of wine it was when you sent it because I just noticed what the little the the little gold – I didn't even zoom in on whatever the little gold things and then I realized they're little rams. Little rams. So cute. So cute. And there's a little bit in like the story of this vineyard. There's stories – there's a story of like why why it's called 13 Rams. so um So we'll tell you a little bit more about this wine.
Speaker: We're going to read a little bit about going little about it. I was about to start reading a little bit about it, but that first sentence has completely just thrown thrown me off. I don't know if that's supposed to be there. What? We consult that one?
Speaker: We consult with the past in confronting the challenges of today. i feel like that i feel like I'm starting a book. No, this like first um paragraph, it's like on their website. It's like pretty, it's like very deep.
Speaker: Yeah, it's deep. It's deep. Keep going. Tell tell our listeners our listeners. Okay. All right. i want Let me restart because that really, tell me that doesn't sound like a the the opening of a book. Yeah.
Speaker: We consult with the past and confronting the challenges of to today. Early farming traditions inspire us to reinvent our agricultural approach. 13 rams is a is a testimony to conservation and regenerative.
Speaker: Oh, God. What is Regeneration? regenerat Regenerative. Regenerative? Yes. Okay, y'all heard it here first. She made me read this. This was a forced peer pressure paragraph.
Speaker: Anyways, that word farming. The name is inspired by the use of sheep in our vineyards. Oh, wait, that's so cute. Wait, I'm going to pause really quick because this is a dumb question. Are sheep and rams the same thing?
Speaker: um i don't I don't think so. Where the flock is propagated by 13 rams. rams Maybe rams is the male? Oh, maybe. Does propagated mean...
Speaker: We're going to look this up as we continue this journey here. The past carries forgotten wisdom and 13 rams serves as a celebration of that knowledge. BRB is a Google propagator.
Speaker: I thought, you know what, you guys? you I thought rams were larger animals. i don't know what I was envisioning, but now that i'm thinking about it, maybe they're like male sheep.
Speaker: Oh, no. what is Tell us. Tell us. Propagated is the past tense and past participle of the verb propagate, which means to multiply. Spread.
Speaker: Spread. Spread, transmit, or send out. So we just read a po pornographic paragraph, and I am so, so sorry.
Speaker: I'm dead then. of all the words they chose. Like we have to let them know that the sheep are bred with these rams, but like we're going to say a fancy word. You guys, so sorry about that. So sorry about that. But also, like, I feel very much victimized right now. I was forced to read that paragraph out loud. well Everyone's just going to remember me telling you the pornographic story of 13 years. Well, um not me saying there's a really cool story about the Rams and why it's called... I thought Propagated was, like...
Speaker: Where the flock is like protected or like they were like propagated, like the where the flock is propagated. i was oh, they're like protected. hey They're like circled in with the rams like sheepdogs. But I didn't know. You guys, it gets better. No. It gets better. i Googled.
Speaker: water water rams versus sheep you're not ready oh no a ram is specifically an adult uncastrated male sheep how does this happen how does this happen I literally cried.
Speaker: I thought this was the most innocent love story. thought this was like a sweet story. thought they were like protecting the sheep and like almost like sheep dogs to the sheep, like hurting them and like protecting them.
Speaker: uh this is this is taking a turn and if you guys go back go ahead and pause right now we'll give you some time and rewind and now hear that first paragraph about the wine now knowing this knowledge about Aye, aye, aye. Okay. Well, here we are. Let's learn a little bit about um this the the founder here. So Clay Shannon has has always been a bit of a maverick. In 1996, he decided to set out on his own. to establish a progressive pioneering winery and ranch in Lake County, California, where others saw challenges, he saw opportunity, an open frontier for crafting wines that reflect the rugged land they come from.
Speaker: Today, Shannon Family of Wines spans over 2,000 acres of mountain property, with vines rooted in the ridges of ancient volcanic soil. Half the land remains untouched, preserved as wild terrain, home to native plants and wildlife. The high elevations and extreme conditions create wines of depth, complexity, and character. So this is isn't that old of a wine.
Speaker: It is from 1996. So, and then there's a little bit more information about that land. So half the land remains untouched touched and they've like preserved it. um But lots of acres here on the Shannon family um wine ranch. I can't no longer talk about it. I'm still laughing. I know this is very, very fun. and I think the land is wonderful.
Speaker: I cannot take her anywhere. i cannot take her anywhere. and My maturity level has not fully been developed because I'm still not over it. like god Anyways, the actual story behind it though, that is, yes, I'm there now.
Speaker: It's lovely lovely. I'm sure the Shannons are wonderful family. Keep breathing. You stop. I am breathing. Okay. Anyways. oh Today. No, I already read that.
Speaker: You are not real. You are literally, i swear sometimes this is my AI friend. my friend that I was the first person tested with having an AI friend. and You are it.
Speaker: Am I even allowed to read at this point? Like, I don't know if I should. Maybe I'll read the rest and you can tell us what it's going to smell and taste like. That sounds like a lovely idea. I feel like I'll be calm about that. Because we can't go wrong there.
Speaker: But making great wine isn't enough. With the Earth's climate under threat, they've committed to something bigger. Project Ovis. They're a transformation of 1,000 acres into one of the country's largest certified organic regenerative farming systems.
Speaker: From no-till farming to wildlife corridors, every decision starts with the health of the land. They are proud to be 100% certified sustainable. And by 2022, Shannon Family Wines had become one of the largest certified organic mountain-grown vineyards in the country. How cool is that? Oh, wow. That's pretty impressive.
Speaker: Yeah. guess we have a lot to thank the sheep for. Jamina, get – I mean, that's the inspiration. You know what I think of, though? Like, I'm thinking, like, all this land. I'm thinking of our trip to, like, Ireland and Scotland when we would, like, drive and just see all that land and just, like, sheeps everywhere, like, yes roaming free. Like, that's literally what I'm picturing, but vineyard version.
Speaker: I mean, what a dream. ah Honestly, sounds amazing. What a dream. You know what? Whatever y'all do after hours back there not on me, okay? The after hours. Yeah, the after hours. But first we work, okay? We get the wine in shape.
Speaker: But now it's onto my portion that I can now calmly read. As far as aromas, we're looking at a woodsy bramble. oh okay. You know what? That makes me picture like a, like a bramble. ever heard of a bramble pie? Like, like I'm picturing that. um Tart cherry and a toasted oak.
Speaker: I know. It's giving old fashioned vibes. immediately. Okay. You're not wrong there. Okay. Yeah. Based off of this. um And on the palate, it's going to be a ripe plum, tart cherry, and warm spice flavors. This is, it's giving old fashioned.
Speaker: It's shaping up to be very nice. Yeah. And honestly, you guys, the price range was not bad. It was anywhere. I think we got ours like 22, 23 ish dollars, but Annie looked it up and this is actually a a higher price.
Speaker: price point of a wine and other places yeah their their website shows it for more expensive than this and I made sure it's the same it was the same year um same varietal to everything so I'm not sure why the difference um but we found it our at trusty old Publix so but no it smells it smells really good it smells lovely yeah are you are you ready to give it a try absolutely i was ready from the moment i read i know i know you were cheers cheers
Speaker: oh that is different for a pinot noir in a really good way in a good way like i wasn't a tart cherry is a very good tart specifically the word tart not necessarily maybe cherry but
Speaker: o Okay. The sheep are on to something. Okay, Rams. Okay. Clay is on to something here. All right. This is a great little wine. horror shannon The whole Shannon family. The whole Shannon fam.
Speaker: Shout out to the whole Shannon fam. The process, the sheeps, the land, the rams, everybody involved. The sustainability. You know, whatever propagation keeps happening. is we know Let's count how many times Shemina says that word. That's the buzzword. That's the buzzword. Take take a sip. um Okay. Let's go back. We were talking about Halloween. Let's go back to kids costumes.
Speaker: What are you guys doing this year? So this year for the first year, we have let, um if you know me and my family at all, you know that we do a family costume. We've done it since 2019 when Becca was born. um So we're going on a good streak here.
Speaker: I'm afraid it might be coming to an end. But we let this year, Becca has picked the the costume theme every year. And this year we let Avery pick. So she has picked villains, which has been a very, of course, I mean, wonderful choice, but was a very, very difficult choice for Beckett to accept. Because if you know Beckett, he is a firstborn kind soul, like, you know, doesn't want anything evil around him because then that means he's evil or something, you know, so.
Speaker: And he's he's he's a good boy. he's Yeah, exactly. So God, the thought of being a villain was just... disgusting to him but we were able to bribe him of course you guys have heard him multiple times here i'm not about bribery um and so he is going to be gaston um for photographs only yeah photographs only five family costume only yeah and then he has a inflatable light up shark costume he's going to switch into I cannot. It still kills me.
Speaker: The most random possible thing. But he wanted an inflatable costume. And so I was like, whatever, dude. it's That's that's the the price of the bribe, right? I will be the evil queen. And Becca will be Hades.
Speaker: Not Becca, sorry. Ben will be Hades. Doak is going to be Scar, of course. And then Avery will be Cruella. I love it. So we've got love it got the whole the whole gang. And you guys may be thinking like, oh my gosh, like where you're missing one of the main ones.
Speaker: Well, there's a reason why we don't have her in our flock. Right? Anyways, what are you guys going to be? Now you might aren't going to find out why. Why? Because I have a little Charlie who is being Maleficent and she is so excited about this, you guys. The costume comes with the horns. She's got the big, like, staff. Like, she is Maleficent in – like, she's Maleficent to a T. So we have – luckily, Aurora is Kennedy's favorite princess. So we are also doing a family costume. And if you ask Charlie who everybody's being, she says, I'm being Maleficent.
Speaker: Sissy is Sleeping Beauty. My daddy is my crow. And – Mommy is Mal. So Greg has, um it's all like all black shirt pants.
Speaker: He has black wings and a black like crow like mask. mask um So that's what he's going to be. And then I'm going to be Mal from Descendants. I'm kind of like DIYing it because her costume is like wild. I'm like, that's intense. So I'm going to be Mal from Descendants and I truly cannot wait.
Speaker: I love that. Yeah. and love I love that. You're meshing the the generational movies too. So I love it. I kind of love that thought. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, there's so much we can do. Cause at first I was like, Oh, that's fine. Then I was like, wait a second. We can go. Cause I was trying to do like a shoulder crow, which I actually met somebody at a housewarming party this weekend. And she did the monorail. She did. She stayed in Orlando with some friends, did the monorail, like drinking,
Speaker: Oh, yeah, the monorail thing. yes And they all dressed up as villains. And I saw her nails and they were like all like they were Maleficent. and i was like, oh, my God, Charlie, come see. And she said that so she dresses Maleficent. and then her friends were like you know, they were all villains, whatever.
Speaker: But she got a crow, like plush crow. They cut the bottom out of it put a ah magnet in it and like made a shoulder. Like a buddy, like the little shoulder buddy. Yeah, like the shoulder people. And I was like, well, I would do that. But I have a full grown, like truly a full grown crow that is going to be caw cawing around. yeah.
Speaker: That's amazing. Yeah. any of us So we're excited. And Aubrey is going to do stuff with friends. She's going to be a mime. um She said, because if someone, if she's at a friend's house and someone comes to her and she doesn't want to talk to them, she can just pretend she's a mime. So that's what happens when you're 18.
Speaker: You can just, you can say and do those things, I guess. I don't know. Love that for her. And if you guys are all wondering, oh my gosh, what a missed opportunity. The opportunity was not missed you guys because Charlie got her costume early.
Speaker: And when she came over oh for Avery's birthday, we got some shots of the girlies together and it is the cutest thing. We have to post them at some point. I haven't put, I've haven't, I've totally forgot about them until we're talking about them right now, but we have to, cause it's Halloween week. So we'll post, we'll post them for Halloween because they are so cute.
Speaker: so so so so cute in their little costumes together as little villains and honestly it tracks with their personalities honestly and i can guarantee you next time we come to y'all's house she's gonna want to bring the costume many anyways just to like percent have it so um so yeah but not a missed opportunity because trust me we are we're on it we're already ordering matching holiday pajamas like trust us trust you can't always trust but trust true we do forget a lot of things We do forget a lot of things, I will say. some We do some last-minute things sometimes. But, okay, I mentioned a little bit about our trip last week, and I kind of left you guys on a cliffhanger. One, I put this shirt on for work today, not remembering about recording, and i was like, oh, this is perfect. um
Speaker: So I kind of left you guys with a little, what, like, thought nugget? um i knew you were going use the word nugget. I just knew it. i just i almost said it. Like, Get out of my brain. Anyways, I'm so excited for this conversation. The floor is yours. Tell us everything. So ah I had not been to New York in a really long time. i Well, I went like for four years ago for work, but then prior to that, um and I wasn't in Times Square. Like prior to that had been a long time. So I don't know about you, but it had been a while.
Speaker: So when we went through Times Square, like what are some of the usual things you see? You see like the fake Mickey. You see the Elmo. You see... um Naked cowboy. I don't know if the naked cowboy still there or whatever. The new thing to make money, and I don't know if this is new. Someone may be like, are so behind.
Speaker: is there's people with like professional cameras and iPads and they'll take pictures of you as you're like crossing the street or whatever. and these like professional photos and they'll like, tooooooooo and then as you're like coming up to them, like passing them, they have the pictures for you to see like on the iPad to like buy. And it's one, it's wild because they are everywhere,
Speaker: everywhere. Like, I can't even tell you how many there were. Like paparazzi, but for the public? Kind of, yeah. Yeah. And then once we, like, caught on to it, Aubrey started, like, posing for them, like, jokingly posing. I was like, get, get, keep walking. where I am not buying these. Keep walking.
Speaker: And so it's kind of weird, though, because I'm also like, where, if I'm not buying them, where are they? where are those going that it like people can't can't you they like be sued for like no idea ven or no idea so we were in time square twice one was walking to dim typhoon which aubrey was like dying to go there i can say it lives up to the hype it was so good and the other time was before that she just wanted to go to time square after another dinner and just like be there and that's when got like the green hats thing that you guys saw
Speaker: last week and a guy was taking pictures and like showed us and I was like no no thank you and then her friend was 17 so I was like she's underage she's like trying to like scare him with that I was like she's underage she was like she's hungry i'm like no but she's underage get out of here get thinking that was gonna scare him away by saying she's underage he's like she's hungry was like no leave us alone I would honestly I would be like oh let me see and then I would be deleting them myself I mean, get me wrong. Like, you can't, like, look too long because then they, like, think you want them. But I'm like, oh, they're kind of cute. Like, the lighting's fine. Yeah, I was going to say, I'm sure, like, some are like, how much? Some of them are cute. But I did not ask because I was like, I know I'm going to be suckered in into, like,
Speaker: A timeshare. Yeah. Yeah. Sit here and you have a timeshare in New York for $3,000 month or something. I don't know. um But yeah, I was so shocked by it. And the amount of them, the amount of them was wild.
Speaker: Like two to three per corner? Or like, what do you mean by the amount? Like. They were everywhere. They were everywhere. Everywhere. Every corner. Every. Everywhere. They're everywhere.
Speaker: I mean, you think about like the Elmo's and the Mickey's, there's like one yeah or two, maybe. And usually they're like grouped, like kind of close to each other. That's so interesting. I guess because of the, like the lay of the land of influencing. ahhu I mean, I get it. I get it. i get it.
Speaker: But I'm like, this is insane that this is the new like moneymaker for Times Square. That's wild. And who thought of that? Like, who was the first person to think of that?
Speaker: I don't know because it's taken it's taken off. obviously it does Obviously, it does well because they are there's everywhere. that's That's wild. Yeah. No. If we go and that happens, I would be like, yeah, let me see them and I want to see you delete them.
Speaker: Well, especially for – oh, I think I would have been a little bit more crazy if it was like kids, kids. i Granted, like you guys – yes, 18 and 17 is still young. I get that. I'm not saying they're not kids. But like if they had been like little kids, I think I would have been like – I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what I would have done, but that freaks me out anymore. No. Well, there's a rule. Like, with paparazzi, they're not allowed to take pictures of kids anymore. So I'm sure they should they're their standard is to follow the same. i mean, maybe.
Speaker: have no idea. Like, under, you know, like you said, under 18. Yeah. They probably have a standard. It was just wild. Yeah. It was just wild. Wild. That's so wild. What a we yeah weird... Yeah. And I'm about the naked cowboy's not there. ki i know. I didn't see him. Or maybe he was just so flocked with people.
Speaker: But I don't know. You hear all these stories about Times Square, too. So you try to, like, take it all in, you also try to, like, hustle. um But, I mean, everyone wants to see it at night, right? Like, yes, it's beautiful during the day. It's New York. But, like, Times Square is the lights and, like, at night.
Speaker: But... And you want to see it but it's also like you got to be aware of your surroundings. It's it's just there's so many. There's just so many people. um But other than that, I mean, it was an amazing, amazing trip. Aubrey had only been to New York once before, and she had been she had called out New York like a couple years ago. Right. When I said we'll do a big 18th birthday trip like, yeah.
Speaker: and it's you, you get to choose where you want to go. She's always said New York. So, and she asked for spending money for her birthday and that's what she got. So she was able to do like shopping. I think her favorite area was probably Soho because they went down to Soho twice.
Speaker: And so, um yeah, it was just a great time. We had great weather. mean, yeah. Outfits were on point. No Harry style sightings, walking to work.
Speaker: No Harry Styles sightings, but at our concert, he, you know, he's been like, if you guys have seen the videos, he like talks to people in the audience. But one of the girls he talked to at our show, he was like, what's your name? Blah, blah, blah.
Speaker: And he was like, I saw you walking in today. he was, I was walking behind you. And he like saw her sign had like, it had like want to play a game. It was a play on like saw and it was Harry's face with like the little like swirlies on his cheeks. And I guess it was popping over her shoulder as she was carrying the sign.
Speaker: and he's like, I saw you, like I was behind you walking in today. And I'm like, can you imagine like, no he's, he's behind you and you don't even realize, not granted, like he's in his like baseball cap and his hoodie. Like we've all seen the pictures, his sunglasses.
Speaker: But I mean, you know, Harry Styles. And if you're going to the concert, you've seen that he literally walks from his apartment or from i'm probably not whatever his palace to Madison Square Garden. Like he walks at every show unless it's raining. So um I thought that was so cool. But no, we did not get a sighting, even though I was hopeful. um We did not get a Harry sighting other than at the concert, which was fantastic.
Speaker: Elite experience, I'm sure, of amazing what you saw. Did he have the short shorts? Does he bring them out every concert? No. Ours was not short shorts, but I would have loved to see that. I'm excited to see what he does for Harry Ween.
Speaker: So, i mean, coming up what a treat that Halloween landed on a Saturday because his concerts are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. what a treat that his concert his um halloween landed on a saturday for for him who's he gonna be i honestly i couldn't even like yeah i couldn't even like put a guess out there for some reason ted lasso just came to my mind i don't know why for some reason i was like i have no idea maybe ted lasso um but i don't know Out of all people, I don't know why um
Speaker: But anywho, yeah. I love it. Every time you go to New York, and I know you feel the same way. Every time you go, it's like, yeah, this is good. feels good to be here. Like, I just love it there. Yeah.
Speaker: I love it. It's just it's like so like a magical feeling. And I think especially if you grew up, like, watching Sex and the City, like, and things like that, like, you have always, like, kind of seen all these movies and TV shows about the life of a girl, of a gal in New York City. And like, it really like sort of fulfills that when you visit.
Speaker: I don't know, something about it. It's just like makes it so much more magical. Like, despite the fact that there's pee in homeless people, you know, everywhere. But yeah I will say i really want to, like I'm going to push for a New York trip, even if it's like a long weekend, for my family mainly because i want to take Avery to plaza. yeah The hell? They're going to close for four years. What are they doing? Yeah.
Speaker: Crazy. What are they doing? i guess like completely, not completely, but – not redoing it, what resurfacing, I'm thinking of the wrong word. You guys, sometimes I listen to this podcast back and I realize the words that we say are not like what we mean. And I'm like, wait, people are hearing us say this. yeah And I have the word in my head once I'm listening to it. But yes, they're like updating. and There's a word I'm looking for. But it takes four I mean, it's the plaza. I think because it's the plaza. but i did price tea at the plaza for Aubrey and I'm like, it's so silly. I love you, but I don't know if I love you that much.
Speaker: I love you, but there is a limit. There is a limit to my love and that is not, to get the plaza is where it comes to an end, my girl. It's with not within the boundaries. um But no, but I mean, me and Ben always talk about going to visit his family yeah during Christmas. So I'm like, maybe we can find some time to go. Like, I would love to go see the Rockettes. Like, that's like my dream to go see the Rockettes at Christmas. Like, I've been there at Christmas. I've been there on New Year's.
Speaker: I've been I've, you know, with my family, but I would love to like go and actually see like the Rockettes or actually i would love to go see a Broadway show in New York state. I've never, my only, my one and only Broadway show ever did was when we went to London and it was wicked. But now that like, yeah I've seen one, i would love to go and actually see.
Speaker: It's an experience, right? Because you dinner before, like in the theater district, then you go to your show. And it's just such a cool thing to be like, like actually seeing a Broadway show, right? Like I'm on...
Speaker: Broadway seeing a Broadway show I've only seen two um but it's cool that wasn't something Aubrey was really interested in so we did not see one when we were there but I've seen Beauty and the Beast which was really cool and then I saw a Phantom and I cried when I saw Phantom because that's like i mean how I can't stand with Wicked like right it's like these like iconic iconic shows um So yeah, I i cried I saw Phantom, but... Anywho.
Speaker: Anyways, so So have you guys heard that remix to the Phantom song, Phantom of the Opera song? And it's like this Halloween like remix? No, i have not. Oh my gosh, okay. We'll have to post it because I am so obsessed with it. not and That was still random, but it's so good. The only song constantly in my algorithm right now that I like i will literally just be walking through Costco yeah singing it.
Speaker: Tip toeing in my jaw. Is that one? Is that it or no? No. My phone just heard it. So it'll probably. be No, it's every single night. Oh.
Speaker: Nicole Kidman. I pray that much. Yeah. Yeah. Like little. You guys. I'm like walking through Costco. Like every single. Like in my head. Just like vibing by myself. Like it's everywhere. It's everywhere. It's everywhere. It's everywhere.
Speaker: Everywhere. Also, just quick shout out to as a motherhood podcast, like we have to give a quick shout out to Barbara Palvin, who literally walked the Victoria's Secret fashion show six weeks postpartum.
Speaker: Insane. There was somebody else that did it, I think, four or five, like a week or two less than that. So two women who were like severely like just postpartum. And I like other similar diapers. Like, are they wearing pants?
Speaker: Listen, I'm like, where where's what's I was wearing diapers for six weeks. Like how like they were definitely wearing like the milk. I thought think that is the most like incredible thing.
Speaker: Like women can do everything and anything that they want to. anything we are so powerful like you guys are so like you guys are so lucky that eve ate the apple first because if we were ones that didn't cause the chaos like we would be unstoppable like we already are but like even even more so unstoppable yeah yeah wild ah Agreed. Okay. So this one's um'm I'm liking this wine.
Speaker: I'm liking this wine too. Sorry. And I was starting that thought while I went to drink the wine. So I, have you guys heard of like nourish? It's like, i don't think it's really an app, but it's like nutritionists. It's like all covered by your insurance or whatever. So I was like, I'm going to go into this because I've been having Like gut issues, stomach issues, like not really knowing what's going on. I've seen a gastrointologist, gastroenterologist.
Speaker: You've seen GI. Thank you so much. yes because I don't know how to pronounce it. And so it's just like all this testing then you go and do this. Oh, that's not it. You go to this. And so I was like, I'm just going to back to the basics and just maybe look at food groups, whatever. So after telling her everything and talking to her, she was like, have you ever tried to go gluten free? And I was like, no.
Speaker: and she's like, why don't we try with going gluten free and see what this does for you? And as of today, I'm like four, i think four days gluten free. Yeah.
Speaker: Wild difference. Yeah. Wild difference on how I feel. That's so crazy. Well, I mean, gluten is inflammatory. So, I mean, that's just – it's one of those things like it's – no matter how little or much you eat of it, it's going to affect your inflammation and like – Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. It's crazy. And you don't realize how much you – like how much gluten is just around you. Like we have these little, like to go like hummus and cracker thing things. I'm like, Oh, well, those are crackers that I can't, like I can have something else with it. Sure. But like, it's like little things like that. Or I love to have a piece of toast with cottage cheese and scrambled eggs in the morning. Now I just like mix the toast, but it's like these little things that.
Speaker: Yeah. add up. And so it's been four days. And I always thought like, um, I was at, at we were at a restaurant over the weekend and I asked them about something like gluten-free and I'm like, I feel so silly asking about it, but like, I actually, like I don't want to be one of those awards. Like, okay, are you actually doing that for your health? Are you like, oh, gluten-free, gluten-free, vegan, FDA approved.
Speaker: No hate on anyone that does that, but you guys know you have the picture of the person in your head. That's like, yeah. So yeah, It's just one of those things that it's like it's so restrictive because like now like is it because you – because there's a difference in like wanting to just doing it as a personal choice versus actually having celiacs and like literally it will like make you miserable instantly. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: But yeah, because then you're like so restrictive and like what you can do, what you can eat. And it's like, who wants to hang out with that person? Oh my God. Like I can't invite you to dinner. No, I'm like everything. But anywho, all that to say, i have been feeling so much better thats the past few days that I've been doing it. So I can't wait to like continue it and see if it continues to like, I continue get even better. So i love that for you. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: So are you, are you, did you completely cut gluten out are you just trying to minimize as much as you can? and minimize I minimize it as much as my I can because she was like, let's start with like the big stuff, right? Like, yeah.
Speaker: crackers, cereals, breads, pasta. You can have like a lentil pasta or a like a vegetable, like a vegetable type pasta. You can have rice. um But like soy sauce has gluten in it. Right. Yeah. Which I'm like, it's tragic because I can have sushi, but now I need my like I need my soy sauce.
Speaker: So things like that I haven't been as strict about. But like we had taco night tonight and usually we do hard shells, but I got corn tortillas or I would have just done like a taco salad.
Speaker: But I'm telling you, it's like, it's kind of hard to be honest. Like it's, it's kind of tough. And then i don't know, like you've got to like, now you've got to look for gluten-free stuff on menus and like ask about it. So yeah. It's very restrictive.
Speaker: It is. Yeah. So I'll keep you guys updated. i But again, I've, it's been four days and I already feel like, ah massive difference. Yeah. But I mean, that's a good thing too, though, right? Like it's a good thing that you didn't go fully no gluten because then it's like, okay, so you can tolerate some. It's just, you can't abuse the power.
Speaker: Right. Yeah. Yeah. just Again, there's a difference. There's a difference in like having to do it strictly or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Having to strictly do it it's because you truly have a gluten insolence in your celiacs, you know, and that's what it's called. called celiac disease. I'm pretty. Yeah. um Versus just being like, oh, maybe I just need to cut it in half because I am abusing the power of gluten. And I, but that's with anything, right? Like we all abuse the power of dairy, sugar, like, you know, it's number one offender of dairy.
Speaker: i was worried it was dairy. so do you want to try gluten and dairy? I was like, no, sweetie, we're going one at a time here and we're going start with the gluten. It's, and you know, it's inflammatory foods. Maybe you just need to make Whole30 your entire personality.
Speaker: it is. i know. i'm like, I can literally pinpoint how I felt on Whole30 and the massive difference in my like bloating yeah and how I felt and everything. Yeah. So.
Speaker: But I'm like, I've really gotten into cottage cheese. Like I've really tried to, I hate, like I hated cottage cheese, but I've tried to really incorporate that into things. And I'm like, I'm not going to give that up as a dairy because it's so good for like protein wise.
Speaker: love cottage cheese. And just cheese in general. Like, come on. No, no, no. speak I did want to go to Jeff's bagel this weekend because I was like in need of a heavy bagel. And I was like, oh shit.
Speaker: Oh shit. We can't Jeff's. Yeah, I'm to have to talk to Jeff. Jeff, if you're listening, i need' i need a gluten-free bagel. He may have one. thing They have to, right? I know they have vegan cream cheeses, but this is like catastrophic for me.
Speaker: That rosemary sea salt bagel, that's all I've ever gotten. So good. Ever. Oh, well, then don't even go look because they're teasing out their Christmas flavors right now. Don't do that to yourself.
Speaker: my God. Don't. Unfollow. Block. like no do what you need to do ah but also shout out to just because their new maple ice i think i sent it to you and i was like yes you did so good i haven't tried it probably my new favorite coffee they have like honestly i'm i'm gonna treat myself tomorrow and get it because i have an all-day work event so so good what is it's maple ice latte or something like that's so good you guys um I could talk about Chef Spiegel all day long.
Speaker: But no, I'm so proud of you. Going gluten-free is very hard. I know exactly the little hummus thing you're talking about. And I want to let you know that they do make that pretzel brand does make a gluten-free option. And it is so good. i actually prefer it over the regular version. Something about the way that it's, I don't know, I can instantly taste the difference of and something about the way it's a white bag. I'm pretty positive it's a white bag. um Okay. This is good to know. see things that you learn. Like I have, like sometimes on the weekends, I'll do like, I'll make the kids like a bigger breakfast. and I have pancakes. So the pancake mix I have happens to be gluten free. It's just what I had. I'm like okay, we're getting somewhere. And then I bought some crackers the other day because they were Bogo at Publix. You guys, we talk about Publix so much. It's cool. know. Can they sponsor us at this point?
Speaker: I mean, really? And it's that Crunch Master brand. Those are all... It's gluten-free. And I'm like, wait, okay. like yeah I've never looked at it because I never had to.
Speaker: But now it's like, okay, this is... doable. I just have to be like yeah vigilant and aware and like look at the ingredients. So for sure you will like you guys updated. If you want to keep pasta in your life, Jovial is a great, that's the brand we use because I will buy, if I can find a gluten-free option of certain things, like carby things, I will buy it. Um, I have a gluten-free pancake mixer too. That's delicious. I think it's King Arthur's brand is the yeah that's the one. Yeah. It's so good. So good. My kids are obsessed with it. um Jovial pasta. i buy that all the time. It's gluten-free. Tastes the same to me.
Speaker: Tastes same to everybody else. um What else? Those pretzels. Like, again, if I can find something and they do have a gluten-free option, I will 9 out of 10 times try the gluten-free, even if it's a dollar or more. um Just because my house can abuse the power. We're one of those households that can abuse the power gluten. So if I can sneak in something that may help a little bit. then Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Sneak it on in. Yeah. I mean, we don't track it. We're not going like, you know, trying to fix issues or anything. But yeah. um So good for you. Cause that's hard. That's not an easy, it's an easy thing to do. It's like cold 30, cold 30 is hard as hell y'all.
Speaker: It's very hard. But I know that French fries are okay because they're potatoes. Yeah. So that was a blessing for me that I realized. Now, when it comes to Chick-fil-A night in our house, what the hell am I going to do? I'm not sure.
Speaker: The grilled nuggets. Grilled nuggets. Doesn't hit the same button. We'll be the same. But yeah. We'll be the same. But anywho.
Speaker: Anywho. That's my life. ah Switching, continuing the food conversation. Have you had the Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich? The waffle, the one that comes on the waffles? No.
Speaker: But now I can't have – well, I can. Unfortunately, you can't have it right now. Like you need to continue your journey for at least seven days. yeah But after your seven days, i get it on a grilled chicken. you guys. So good. I hope it's here to stay. know.
Speaker: It's so good. It's chicken and waffles. Yeah. Chick-fil-A. ah Chick-fil-A chicken waffles. like And we've you know we've you've all been to like some kind of like brunch party or something where the person has made like the like chicken and waffles with the small Eggo waffles and the Chick-fil-A nuggets. like We've all had it.
Speaker: And it's wonderful. But now that they are doing a bigger version themselves, get take all my dollars. Yeah. 10 out of 10. We highly recommend. Okay, we can move on from food now.
Speaker: I just had to give them we're just gonna talk about the credit they deserved. mean When I was looking at this wine, I mean, I know wine's gluten-free, but it was like vegan, gluten-free. I was like, great. I wasn't looking for it, but great. but this works out in my favor yeah grapes good to go man yeah i'm trying to think i'm like is there anything else happening i mean i hope everyone has like a great halloween weekend oh my god i also hope so too but you guys please send up the most thoughts and wishes and prayers for the rays we are in the world series we lost the first two games and when this comes out you guys will know whether we lost game three i currently don't know if we won or lost game three i'm hoping for a win since it's at home um but you know if you like baseball and you don't have a specific team you're pulling for just the rays would be a nice one the underdog the rays would love would love your vote yeah
Speaker: It's nice to have a little underdog. I don't know if you guys recall how badly the hurricane tore up that stadium. Like, let's all remember that. And that was housing, like, people for safety. It was was supposed to house people.
Speaker: Oh, I thought it was. i think it was supposed to, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe it was. Either way, all everything was all set up in there. Destroyed. And the roof roof just got destroyed. And that's and they played over here at Steinbrenner where, like, the Yankees do their spring training. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: And it was like sold out. It was, I mean, we went, we went to a game and it was a lot of fun. It's also very nice that it's like right down the street, but now that's where like over here is where they're proposing the new stadium, which is super exciting, especially for like where we live. It's super, super exciting. But um yeah, go Rays. I know. But also it is Tampa Bay Rays, right?
Speaker: Why are you thinking? It's so weird. Yeah. Which, yes, St. Pete is like, when you say Tampa Bay, it is encompassed in Tampa Bay. But it'd just be nice to have them in our backyard, you know?
Speaker: I'm just being selfish. I'm being selfish. To actually be here, and that'd be great. Ah, what a time. What a time to be alive, guys. What a time. How are you feeling about this wine? It's delicious. I'm very impressed, especially compared to what we had last week. I put it back in my fridge like I was going drink it again. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: no no no not interested not interested go down the drain but yeah i put it in the fridge like there was some kind of chance of me drinking it and there was absolutely no shot she is for a singular rose display on a mantle that was it i like that i like that but this one not only is the story captivating captivating It all circles back to the story. It all circles back to the story. Honestly, the points went up immediately after I found out everything about the story. The the the laughs I laugh deserve recognition.
Speaker: Yeah. That's all I'm going to say. i like um How do you know you're quarking? Yeah. I think I know. i Yeah. I'm going to keep it at a solid. I'm going to keep it at a solid.
Speaker: Okay. Yeah. Let me think. I think that I have mine. Yeah. I've got mine. I'm ready. You ready? Should we shout out at the same time?
Speaker: You want to? I mean, it's I think it's going block our voice. Okay. Wait. All right. Okay. Oh, you just go first. no you just go first. Nope. If we do this, no, if we do this, ring its do you do one, two, three, and then say it, you say it on three? We're just going to back and forth. I'll just go first. Okay. Mine's a solid eight.
Speaker: I'm just keeping at it at a, I think it's very good because it's different than a regular Noir. So i I like that it's standing out to me. Okay.
Speaker: Okay. I'm a little bit higher than you. was expecting us to be a little closer, but I'm an 8.4. Well, I told you I was keeping it solid. I wasn't, I wasn't, I wasn't doing points today. Oh, I wasn't feeling the points today. You meant like eight, you meant solid, like solid number. Got it. Yeah. Okay. Got it.
Speaker: um I am 8.4. I am very impressed. I would get this Pinot Noir time and time again. would i would too. I think this is, I know like it's red it's going to sound cliche. And I know that Emma has told us that wine doesn't really need a specific type of beer, but this was a steak. Sounds.
Speaker: Oh my God. Come on. Someone go pop on this steak, ah this grill over here. Steak frites. Medium steak. Steak frites. Yeah, and the bottle is cute, too. Like we said, it's got the little gold propagated right not propagated rams. Yeah, propagated rams. I mean, they could be there lined up.
Speaker: They could be propagating. Maybe that's how they propagate for the sheep. Okay, we're going it is time to cut her off. Closing time.
Speaker: Well, you know, we always love our Chitty Chat episodes you never know where they're going to lead. oh, know what I didn't mention? By the time we have our next episode, i am going to have a big eight-year-old. Kennedy's birthday is on Sunday. And I just, like, time flies, you guys. Time is...
Speaker: a thief we all know that it's such a cliche but she is going to be eight and i um i can't believe it and she's so excited we're doing universal the next weekend for her birthday because she loves harry potter so we're doing the whole the whole shebang whatever whatever she wants she basically gets at universal because um this is her birthday party so to speak so anyhow after the next episode we will have um an eight-year-old. That's so wild. Happy birthday, Kenny girl.
Speaker: Happy birthday to Kennedy. i hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween. But as for this episode, that's a wrap. That's our show. That is all the Chitty Chat Mama Tea we have for today. Thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to write and review us on whatever platform you're listening on. As always, tell all your friends and keep on whining.
