Hong Kong artist K-Sing Lung moved to the Netherlands as a child where he fell in love with Nordic fairy tales. In 2015, he created a storybook series called The Monsters. In the original storybooks, Lububu is a female elf character who's part of a monster tribe that includes other characters like Zamomo, Taekoko, Spooky, and Pato. Although Lububu quickly became the fan favorite.
