What's up? What's up? Nigel, thanks for the introduction. I appreciate it. Tom and Jake, it's nice to meet everyone. I'm happy Jack set this up for us. And I'm doing well, guys. I mean, my giants aren't doing so well. But personally, myself, all is good. Life's good. The podcast has been good on my end. And I'm hoping

the same for you guys. I know you guys are. This is episode 11 now, correct? Yes, sir. Awesome. Congrats, guys. I mean, it's a lot of fun.
00:01:49
Speaker
I'm just super happy to be here and, you know, chopping up two teams that I watch a lot of because obviously Buffalo is one of those powerhouse teams, the NFL, definitely one of the top three teams in the league, personally, I think so. It's just it's cool to talk about a team like that. So it's very I'm very happy to be here and let's do it, guys.
Greetings and Connections
00:02:07
Speaker
Let's get rolling. Yeah, buddy, Tom, how are we doing this evening, brother?
00:02:10
Speaker
Matt, I'm great. I'm great. JQ, it's great to meet you. It's always really fun to talk and shoot the shit with new friends. So welcome. Thank you. Torpedo, what's shaking tonight, homie? Yeah, completely agree. Good to talk to you, JQ. The Giants are a team I watch a lot of too. A lot of friends and family are big Giants fans. So excited to dice them up a little bit here.
00:02:29
Speaker
Yeah, let's do it. How are they doing? I mean, how are they handling this the start of the season? I'm sure they're not too pleased like myself. So I would I would put it at life support status probably. My brother-in-law Jordan, he just got married and that that was the happiest thing that happened to him all weekend as it should be. But but he was hoping the Giants would give him a close second. But that wasn't the case, unfortunately.
00:02:55
Speaker
Yeah, dude. So the common thread between what brought JQ to us, you mentioned it earlier, we all have a mutual person that we know in our good buddy, Jack. So JQ, talk to us just for a quick second. So you guys are cousins, correct?
Collaboration in Podcasting
00:03:11
Speaker
You and Jack? So no, we're not cousins. So I date Kayla, which is Jack's cousin. So I've met Jack over the years through my girlfriend Kayla.
00:03:21
Speaker
And in law. Yeah, in law, I guess. Yeah. And they're great people. All of the the Evans crew in the stores are all very nice people. It's a it's been a pleasure to get to know them over the past. It's gonna be like five, five years, almost six years. But no, Jack shot me the idea. He's like, Yo, you should like link up with my buddies, like talk some football. And immediately right away, like my answer is always like, Yeah, I got man, like, as you guys can tell, I'm a very big
00:03:45
Speaker
outgoing and talkative person. So any chance I get to meet new people and talk about the sport I love the most, I'm all in.
Podcast Tradition: Toast and Drinks
00:03:52
Speaker
So that's the background of our mutual friendship right there with everyone. But yeah, man, I mean, I'm just very excited to be here. And it's a cool collab to do something like this. I don't get to do this a lot. So it's cool.
00:04:04
Speaker
Yeah, dude, I'm so sorry. You have to put it with Jack for any amount of time that you have to. So, yeah. And this is you, man. This is definitely a vast improvement because before two for Giants Week with Jack is and I'll call him out right now. Jackson absolute fake. He's a fake fan.
00:04:21
Speaker
So what I wanted to do was have him come on and just do a comprehensive full on Giants breakdown that would have been just a load of him BSing, but for a little bit would have been pretty fun. So this is going to be much better for everybody.
00:04:36
Speaker
Yes, absolutely. Yeah, it's gonna be a good time. I'm ready to fight expert fellas. Well, let's say should I try to dish us up?
Injury Discussions for Bills and Giants
00:04:43
Speaker
Yeah, should we start by opening up a beverage? So jq knows the rules here. We always start with a beer. So we'll open on a count of three and we'll talk about them in just a second here. So here we go. I'll count us down 321
00:04:58
Speaker
So you guys had cans. That sounded a lot better than me opening up the bottle. That's right. There's been some weeks when like we kind of screw it up and only one of us has a can or none of us have cans and we have to like, you know, yeah, we, that's, that's always pretty funny. We absolutely make it through, but cheers guys. Yeah. Cheers Jake. What are you drinking brother? Give us the rundown. I recognize that bottle dog. So yeah, as you guys can see a scene in the camera, I have a Stella, I like to call it an Artois. However you like to say it, I always like emphasize it a little bit. I say I'll twirl.
00:05:27
Speaker
Oh, yeah. But yeah, it was in my fridge or I guess I still live at home. So my dad, I guess bought a nice pack of Stella's. And when you guys like mentioned this in like the preview when I was talking to Tom and stuff, I was like, Well, I do have like one white claw in the fridge. And I was coming home from work today. I was like, I might have to go out and like get something better. Because I was like, white claw, not a bad drink. But I was like, they're kind of a little personally, for me, it might be a hot take. They're a little crappy. And I was like, I was gonna
00:05:59
Speaker
Well, Stella, shout out to my dad, PQ. But yeah, I mean, this is cool. This is a nice thing. So cheers to you guys. Hey, appreciate it. Cheers to you. Shout out PQ. We love those. Thanks for sharing your beer, bro. Yeah, absolutely. He has no idea yet, but he's going to find it out. That bottle will be long empty when he finds out. Yeah. Well, hey, I'm dipping back to my harpoon days here. So I'm from the lovely harpoon brewery over in Vermont there with Tom.
00:06:18
Speaker
relate it back to the Giants and be like, oh, they're like a crappy drink.
00:06:28
Speaker
I'm drinking the Juicer Hazy IPA. The Juicers. Absolutely delicious. Well, I'm going to hop right into bed with you then. Me and my little UFO, Harpoon UFO. I'm still riding the journey to Planet Pumpkin. Nice, dude. Awesome. Those both sound really good. I like that. Oh, it's delicious. UFO makes some, excuse me, Harpoon makes some really nice beers, dude. Awesome. Yeah, man. Jake, take us home, buddy. What do you got?
00:06:54
Speaker
They sure do. I'll continue the thought that Jake, you started there and compare my beer to the bills. I got the Minky Boodle from Thin Man Brewery and it's a raspberry sour ale. So it tastes really good, but everyone smile. It leaves a little bit of a sour taste in your mouth. Yeah, buddy. That's sometimes, you know, that you just need that in your beer a little bit though. And you're paying your sports team, I guess.
00:07:14
Speaker
All righty, let's get into it here, fellas. So I think we're going to start with just kind of some storylines going into this game. And I know for the bill side of things, JQ, it's it's it's injuries for sure, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. I know at one point this past week in the game, the bills just played or against Jacksonville over in London. We were at one point down six starters on the defensive side of the ball.
00:07:41
Speaker
Um, so I think going forward, that's going to be the really interesting thing. It looks like on the line backing level, we're going to lose Matt Milano for the season.
00:07:49
Speaker
likely to be replaced by Dorian Williams, who's a third round rookie. And then we also lost, unfortunately, Daquan Jones, it looks like, is going to be most of the season, if not all of it, with a torn pectoral. And that's in addition to losing Tradavius White for this season last year, or excuse me, last week, with a torn Achilles. So we're definitely hurting a little bit. But I know the Giants have at least one major injury on the offensive side of the ball. Any injuries you want to bring to light right now, JQ?
00:08:19
Speaker
I mean, honestly, it pains me to hear the Buffalo's injury list like that, because it makes me think of the Giants in the same boat. Saquon's been out since week two, which has sucked, because now you guys are getting to know me. Saquon's my favorite player. He's like my ride or die. I always back him up. That's a great one. Yeah, a lot of people are against running backs in the NFL, the whole controversy about the contract situation and that their life
00:08:47
Speaker
like lifespan for their NFL career. So it sucks. It's a tough position. But he's a great guy. And he's always been a great team leader. So missing him, definitely, you could tell this team just isn't the same. They don't gel right. And when your best guy is not on the field, it hurts you. But the main guy they're really missing is Andrew Thomas. And Andrew
Brian Dable's Influence and Strategy
00:09:07
Speaker
Thomas, for those that don't know, is the Giants left tackle.
00:09:10
Speaker
He's been there since two thousand twenty and he's been the anchor his rookie year slow start but then second half picked it up and then last year he's basically like an all pro caliber player. He's arguably the most important position or excuse me the most important player on that Giants team.
00:09:27
Speaker
And that franchise right now and you're and you could sit there and go a left tackle being the most important guy. Like how is that possible. Well when your quarterbacks getting sacked six times a game it feels like you know why. But without him since week one I mean he got hurt on the first drive. I was at the game with my dad.
00:09:45
Speaker
And, um, Dallas blocked the field goal attempt and he tried to run it back, you know, tried to make a play and he ended up hurting his hamstring. Hasn't played since. So the giants are dealing with a lot of injuries at the offensive line. John Michael Schmitz, their center is out right now. He had a shoulder injury two weeks ago against Seattle. Um, Evan Neil has been struggling and the guards, it all goes the same.
00:10:06
Speaker
Um, so the offensive line has been my biggest concern, but without a guy like Saquon out there, like getting back to that storyline with Saquon, it's been tough to watch because as my favorite player, I want to watch them out there every game. And it's like, uh, like, you know, losing happens, but it's like, at least if I get to watch Saquon out there, like watch him fall out and they lose, it's like, okay. But now it's like, it's like, I'm like, like scratching at my, I'm like pulling my hair out cause I'm watching this team.
00:10:33
Speaker
not being able to move the ball downfield. And he's a big reason why. Yeah, especially because it just draws all the attention back to Daniel Jones, right? Like, OK, there's not this weapon in the backfield that we have to account for. Now let's just slow down Daniel Jones and let's see what happens, right? Like, that's just it just takes such a step out of the defensive scheme and makes it so much simpler for them.
00:10:56
Speaker
Absolutely. Cause you know, they, they added a few guys this year, like Paris Campbell, uh, Darren Waller was a big trade this year in the off season and then a speech they're like jail and high in the draft this year. But with, with not having sake one out there guys, it's just like, they know like this team's so one dimensional and it's like, I hate to say it, but everyone knows like, it's like, there's no like secrets anymore. Like when sake one's on the field, there has to be eyes on him at all times, which takes pressure off Daniel Jones.
00:11:24
Speaker
And then it takes pressure off Darren Waller and the other receiving core as a whole. So without him on the field, like you could tell guys, like it, Tom, like you were just saying, it just makes such a big difference and it bothers me a lot. So hopefully we'll see him this weekend. Dable and his presser today said possibly he has a better chance than playing the Andrew Thomas, which is like good for me personally, cause I like to watch sake one play, but it's also like,
00:11:49
Speaker
forsake one, it's like that's one of the best guys to block for him and protect him too as well as Daniel Jones. So without Andrew Thomas out there, it does concern me a little bit because Buffalo has been getting after quarterbacks this year and I'm pretty sure they lead the league in sacks right now. Yeah. Yeah. We've had, we've had some decent luck so far getting, getting home. Um, not so much this past game against Trevor Lawrence, but overall this season, we've been pretty solid. Um, you mentioned a name that I want to bring up here real quick, Jake, you and that's Dave's Brian dable, the head coach of the New York giants.
00:12:19
Speaker
formerly the offensive coordinator for Josh Allen and this Buffalo Bills offense. So a bit of a homecoming there. Um, I know when we lost him, it was, it was something we all knew that was coming. Um, but doesn't take the sting out of it. You know, like that guy, I mean, at least, you know, he's, he's shown the ability to be able to play, play, excuse me, call plays at a high level in the NFL. Um, since he's come over to the giants though, I'd be curious to
00:12:47
Speaker
get your thoughts on this, Jake, you last season seem to go a little bit smoother than things have gone so far this year with with Brian Dable. Can you give us some thoughts as to why you think that might be in and give us give us a little bit of a breakdown there? Absolutely. I mean, last year, so Joe Judge had like his temper tantrum.
00:13:05
Speaker
to end the year and like one of his last like pressers. And I was like, I was like, this is it. I was like, he's definitely getting canned. So you know, Dave government stepped away from football, if I'm putting it in quotes, I know people who listen to the audio won't be able to see that but stepped away retired, they let him walk out on his own. He was done anyway. So it was time to reset. And when Joe Shane came in, I was, I was very excited because I knew there was an opportunity for Brian Dable to be the next head coach. And
00:13:31
Speaker
Last year was more than I ever could have expected. Going into the year, people are like, they'll be competitive. The roster is not very good. But we don't see this team going anywhere. And then for them to win nine games plus a playoff game on the road, it was a really cool experience. Because the last time the Giants had a playoff team was 2016. And just four or five years of being losers is not fun.
00:13:57
Speaker
Um, especially when you're in college and you go to school in New England, um, just ripping on you for your team being bad. Don't worry. You're in, you're in, uh, you're in good hands in Buffalo sports land. So I mean, I feel you're paying guys. I really do, but back to Brian David. I mean, last year, what, what he was able to do.
00:14:16
Speaker
with the roster he had was amazing. And that's why I put so much trust and faith as a fan into Joe Shane and Brian Davils, like system and their plan. I know this year, getting to the back end of your question, Nigel, this year has been tough so far. One and four on the horizon about to play Buffalo Sunday Night Football in Buffalo, not looking good at all. I'm not going to like sugarcoat it and be like, oh yeah, you know,
00:14:41
Speaker
If they get healthy, there's a chance or if, I don't know, if they figure something out, there's a chance. It just hasn't been good. And I know when the team's not playing well, players get the blame first, maybe some execution here and there or just being able to what product they're putting out in the field. But now it's like people are starting to say like, what are Joe Shane and Dave will doing? I'm still not there yet. I mean, listen, it's year two, like they had a bad roster last year and
00:15:06
Speaker
You know, when you make the playoffs, you're not just going to go, okay, let's rebuild the whole entire team. Like, no, they had such a successful year. Like Brian Dable was coach of the year in the NFL. Um, so I just think this year it's has to do with a lot of injuries and, you know, without a guy like Saquon, this team, like I just said, becomes very one dimensional and it's very easy.
00:15:26
Speaker
to game plan again. So I think that's been a big problem for them, which sucks. And you know, with the offensive line they're dealing with right now, it's like they will can't go out there and make plays or you know, they can execute whatever they want in practice and try to do things and scheme the right place. But if those guys can't block or they're just getting beat off the line of scrimmage every time it's hard to run a team. And that's where
00:15:47
Speaker
like my biggest concern comes into play. So it's tough, but I know Dable, I mean, he just says, you know, we just got to get better as a team. And I trust them. I mean, they brought a winning season for me and giant fans everywhere for the first time in a long time. So I mean, how did you guys like, I mean, this is cool that we're like, this is a joint podcast thing. So how do you guys feel about Dable so far in his 10 year in New York, I guess?
Giants Defense and Dexter Lawrence Analysis
00:16:11
Speaker
Tom, you want to take that one, buddy?
00:16:12
Speaker
Yeah, I think, man, I love seeing him go out and have some success, right? I think for him, one of my favorite qualities that Dable has is his ability to relate to players. And that was really clear last year that he came in. He was a player's coach. He took them where they were and brought the best out of them.
00:16:30
Speaker
Right? And clearly that worked out because like you said, they had a winning season. They went out, won a playoff game on the road in a tough circumstances and looked good. Like that's a big deal. And that's a big like shot in the arm for any kind of organization. So I think that's so cool to see him go out and succeed. We definitely missed him. I attribute his Josh Allen success a lot to Dables kind of going under Dables wing, right? And be able to be brought along, be able to kind of work out the kinks.
00:16:58
Speaker
Um, and, and start to become this, um, you know, top five quarterback in the league. Like, I think I attribute that a lot to table and his guidance. So, um, I think he's a great coach. I think he's a great guy, somebody you could absolutely root for. Yeah. Jake, did you want to add anything to that? I think Tom did a great job there.
00:17:16
Speaker
I agree. No, but just, I mean, X's nose are not my strength for football, but how can you not root for that guy? I just, I think he's a great guy to root for. He's a cool dude. Yeah. He brings a lot of like swagger to it. He's got some jam to his coaching style, dude. So like, he's always so fired up. And, you know, I mean, a lot of that like relates back, I'm like relating this back to last year because
00:17:41
Speaker
just like the vibes like of that team like I remember when they beat out because I have season tickets I got them last year me and a buddy and last year like they beat Baltimore I remember and they came back with like six minutes left from down 10 and they won and MetLife was going crazy and I just remember like I was like wow I was like I was like this team's special I was like and I was like hang on I'm like
00:18:05
Speaker
They're not going to want a Super Bowl or anything, but I was like, this is fun. I was like, they're five and one. I was like, it's Dables first year. Like this team looks so like, I was like, this is like football should be fun. Like I look at like the 49ers or like the Eagles or, you know, just any team in the league, the Bills, for example, like those teams like to have fun. I know losing is not fun, but when their offense goes out there and puts up like 30 plus, like it's a lot of fun to watch. So last year was great. And I just think, listen, like adversity is going to happen as a coach and for players, it just depends how they handle it.
00:18:34
Speaker
You know, there's been a lot of down like, you know, points this year and I just hope they can turn it around. Or if not, you know, it's going to get ugly before you know it. And it kind of has right now so far. Yeah. I also love how many shades of red he can turn. I think it's impressive. Yeah. He's got quite the color palette.
00:18:55
Speaker
When a call doesn't go his way, and I love when they pan the camera to the sideline, he's either he's either throwing the headset, or screaming at a ref or he does he does the death stare. And when he he did it on Thanksgiving against Dallas last year, and I because it was an ineligible man downfield one of the offensive linemen on the touchdown pass.
00:19:15
Speaker
And I remember him just looking at the ref. I go someone's got to hold this guy back. I was like there. I was like I feel like he's going to like headbutt the ref or something and he's going to get like a jacket. But now he he you know he like you guys were saying Tom you mentioned it. He's a player's coach. He really is. And you know I love that fire and tenacity he really has about him in the swagger. I just love him and you know I'm being a little repetitive but this year it's been tough. But I mean that's my guy man. I mean he brought me so much like joy and all Giants fans a lot of joy last year.
00:19:49
Speaker
All right, well, there's one more little bullet point here for our storylines, but I'm going to selfishly save that for me to talk about with you in a little bit, JQ. But first, I'm going to cue up a conversation between you and Tom here, and we're going to specifically highlight the matchup of the Giants defense versus the Bills offense. So this is the side of the ball for each team that doesn't really, and I'm going to knock on wood. So everybody sees this, right? I'm knocking on wood. Here I go.
00:20:11
Speaker
with that team. He's a dog, man. He's cool.
00:20:18
Speaker
The side of the ball that at this time for both teams doesn't have many injuries. So I think that makes it a little bit more interesting. Tom, I'll cue it up to you first, buddy. Let her rip.
00:20:28
Speaker
Yeah. So Jacob, I think if we're talking about the Giants defense, this, uh, wink Martindale led defense, I think you have to start up front with, um, Dexter Lawrence. Can you talk to me about what, what it's like having a refrigerator play D tackle on your, on your teams? Tom sexy. Dexie is, is a, he's a beast, man. That guy is he's awesome. And I'm so happy for him that he really just kind of like exploded in the system last year.
00:20:57
Speaker
You don't see D tackles getting a lot of sacks or a lot of pressures. And he was all over the field last year. And when a guy can stop the run, rush the passer and just make plays all over the place, it's great. And for a guy that's like six, four, like 300 and something pounds, like it's truly remarkable. So his presence has always felt, um, it might not always show up on the stat sheet, but then you might get those stats on Twitter. You might see from all those like different sports analysts or accounts that shows like his pressure rate during a game. And it's just unbelievable.
00:21:26
Speaker
Um, I wish his partner, Leonard Williams would be a helping handle a bit more because Dex is always dealing with these double teams and that, you know, that leads to big plays. Cause when Dex is getting doubled, we need someone to step up the giants and hasn't really been happening that much this year, Tom. So, but like you said, when you have a refrigerator that just stands over the center like that, like he's a lot of fun. I'm not too, I know Buffalo has a pretty solid offensive line, I'd say. And I know Josh Allen's a mobile guy, so, you know, he makes it work very well.
00:21:56
Speaker
But what's that matchup like for Dexter Lawrence against the Buffalo Center? I'm not sure that Buffalo Center's name, but what's that interior offensive line going to look like against Dexter Lawrence and some of those guys? Yeah, so for our O-line, it's Mitch Morse playing at center. He's a longtime vet here on Buffalo. And he's not the largest of centers in the game, but he's really mobile and really smart. He's played really well, very consistent.
00:22:25
Speaker
on his left and on his right, we have two kind of two newer players on his right. We have rookie or Cyrus Torrance, who has been. Yes. I mean, I've been loving watching him play just a road grader, big dude, kind of honestly, a little bit different out of what the bills generally look for on the.
00:22:44
Speaker
um in in like a guard right he's usually he's much bigger usually historically we've looked for more athletic players um not to say that a nfl player is unathletic but yeah right like like he's he's he's definitely more of a power guard than we usually have um so i man i think of um where you would
00:23:05
Speaker
I think that matchup is where I want our strength to be. Where our strength is our inner, inner three and our left tackle Dion Dawkins. Our liability is on the right with Spencer Brown. So I'm really interested to see that matchup between like him and Kayvon Thibodeau and all these, you know, any other edge rusher that you might see the the Giants kind of put out there. So yeah, absolutely. That's going to be the big, the big matchup for me.
00:23:30
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. I mean, you know, Dexter Lawrence, I I'm never like afraid. I mean, besides when I played the Eagles or a team like that, like I'm always confident in him being able to get to the quarterback and stuff like that. So I'm really excited to see him go up against a good interior front because it's important. Like if he could beat
00:23:47
Speaker
and get around guys like that, like you can cause. Yeah, you can cause some havoc. And, you know, Nigel, you made a good point. It's nice to see these two sides of the balls for, I mean, two sides of these teams like Buffalo and the Giants that are healthy. I know the Giants defense really isn't that intimidating, but I'm like, I'm like, at least they're like healthy. You know, like this is like these, like the whole team's not banged up. I mean, they just gave up over 500 yards combined for passing and rushing.
00:24:15
Speaker
to Miami. So it like, you know, you look at the statue, they had two picks, a forced fumble. One was a pick six. Um, but they're still just getting burnt. And I mean, a team like Miami, like they'll, they'll kill you anywhere on the field. Um, but that goes the same for me to track me. So yeah. So no. Yeah. Uh, tippidos from my understanding was a really promising young player. What have you thought of his development? How's he looked this year to talk to me about him? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, so fifth overall pick in the 2022 draft
00:24:45
Speaker
I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Um, so he was, he was with David in his first year. I thought he had a pretty good rookie year. I mean, as a top five pick, obviously like those DNS, you look at like, uh, Aiden Hutchinson
Impact of Injuries on Giants and Saquon Barkley
00:24:56
Speaker
right now, who's awesome. Um, and you look at a guy like, like guys like that and you want him to be like that. But I mean, I think he's been pretty good because the giants really don't have a guy across from him on the other edge that, well, Aziz Ojolari is there when he plays, like they, they, you know, they, they can tear it up a little bit.
00:25:14
Speaker
Um, but you know, Aziz is always struggling with injuries. So now he just hurt his ankle against Miami. So don't know if he's going to play. He's been dealing with his hamstring injury all season.
00:25:24
Speaker
And it just stems from like last year, which sucks because when he's on the field, he can really bend the edge and get around tackles. So Aziz is a guy who would line up over the right tackle, but you know, they do a lot of switching, but Kayvon's growth, Jake, I will say at the beginning of the year, a lot of Giants fans would like wanting to call him like a bust or they're like, he's not off to a good start. Like what's wrong with him? Like it looks like he's like being like lazy out there, but in his last three games, he has four sacks. So I mean, I'm really not too upset with him.
00:25:54
Speaker
I'm a little more upset with the draft pick, two picks after him and Evanneal. That's kind of just been like a turnstile man. Like, I mean, for a right tackle, he's a big guy. And, you know, those quick speedy edge rushers, they beat him and they, they beat the crap out of him, which sucks. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Oh man. I've seen him get posterized on social media. There's one play where he just straight up lets a guy walk around and he's looking the other direction.
00:26:24
Speaker
I mean, Nigel, if you have a point to make and then I can like go off that go ahead. Well, we've got in a little bit. I have a lot to say about him in a little bit here in a little bit. We've got the Giants offense versus the bills defense. So I'll let you guys keep talking about Giants defense for those offense for now, but it's coming. Perfect. OK, perfect. Yeah. So back to cave on, though, Jake. I mean, I am impressed with what he's done because I've seen him have really big games and really big moments like last year. He had a huge strip sack against Lamar.
00:26:53
Speaker
first NFL sack in his career and then the game against Washington on Sunday night football he had twelve tackles a strip sack and a touchdown like a scoop and score so I I've been happy with him and listen I mean the morale right now is not very high so a giant fans I mean I'm sure you guys know New York fans are crazy like I I include myself to like
00:27:13
Speaker
there could be like one player where we give up like three yards and someone on Twitter is like, why is, why is McKinney not making that tackle? And it's like, we're like down like 10 in the fours of like two minutes. I'm like, all right. I'm like, like, it's okay. Like, I mean, we're already out of the game right now. Like one play is not going to change the entire game at this point. Um, but no, I mean, it's a fun unit to watch though. Like I liked the rookie corners, like they, like they're, they're a fun group, but they got a big test this weekend.
00:27:39
Speaker
And they've had a few big ones, you know, they've played San Francisco, they've played Dallas, Seattle with DK Metcalf and like Tyler Locken and those guys. So I'm really excited to see Deontay Banks line up against Stefan Diggs and Trey Hawkins and Adori Jackson line up against Gabe Davis and you know, whoever else is out there for Buffalo. So I'm really looking forward to it, Tom.
00:27:59
Speaker
Yeah, man. So my last kind of little question for you is what has to go right for the Giants defense to make things difficult for the Bills offense? Because so far this season, we've had three really strong games and two games that led us
00:28:15
Speaker
left us kind of wishing for more. So when the bill's offense is humming, things were multiple. We have a strong running game with several backs that are all contributing. While Josh Allen is methodical, he's not pressing, he's not looking and not getting greedy, he's seeing the field really well.
00:28:35
Speaker
However, the times where we have seen trouble is when the run game hasn't worked. Our run game against Jacksonville, I don't know where it went. I don't understand. We looked so good against Miami, just really physical up front. And then we looked like, I don't know, like we were jet lagged and half asleep somewhere on the plane on Sunday morning. So we've looked.
00:28:59
Speaker
The times that we've looked like we've had trouble is when the run game has struggled or when the defense has pushed Josh Allen into that sugar high Josh Allen mode that we all hate to see. But we know that is part of his, you know, his personality. So what do you see being what are the ways that the Giants could be successful can come out into this game and really affect this build offense?
00:29:21
Speaker
I mean, it kind of like I looked at how the Jets play. I mean, I don't know what Josh Allen's deal is when he plays the Jets. But the Jets know something that I like, I need to know. Like, but I think it comes down to like, I'm a big trenches guy. I think it starts in the trenches and ends in the trenches with O line and D line. They got to get to the quarterback. And I'm so repetitive, guys. I say this every week. I'm like,
00:29:43
Speaker
Because it just makes it, you know what I'm saying, guys, like it just makes it easier on the linebackers and the safety's in the corner. So everybody's like, yeah, if Dexter Lawrence and, you know, Aziz Ojalari plays in Cave on Thibodaux and Leonard Williams can get home or at least apply some pressure like that will, you know, create Josh Allen to either make some of those magical plays where he escapes the pocket. And then I mean, the guy's got a cannon for an arm that throws like 50 yards downfield to a wide open Diggs or a Gabe Davis.
00:30:12
Speaker
That's going to be the big thing, though, because I've seen Josh Allen with a pressure a few times. And when it happens, you know, he might make an illivised throw and that could lead to a turnover. So I think for the Giants, it's getting pressure up front, guys. That's the like, like I know, like they're not very good right now. But if they want to have any chance, like they can't just let Josh Allen sit back there and be like, Oh, yeah, like
00:30:32
Speaker
one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, so on and so forth. And then I'm going to throw the ball. So if Tom, like you were saying, I mean, excuse me, if they can apply some pressure, I feel like they'd have a good shot at least creating some turnovers and getting the offense on the field. Um, but yeah, I mean, it'd be nice if they could get a defensive touchdown cause our offense doesn't score. So, so yeah. Um, but yeah, I just think that's what stems to, and I mean,
00:30:57
Speaker
Someone's got to stop Stefan Diggs. I mean, for you guys, how is it having Stefan Diggs and Gabe Davis? I feel like it's a lot of fun. I know Stefan Diggs is, could be a hothead at times, but I mean, he's
Von Miller's Return and Defensive Strategies
00:31:07
Speaker
great, man. I mean, he's a killer, man. He'll ruin a defense. Go ahead, Tom.
00:31:13
Speaker
Oh man, it's the best. It's so fun. It's just so fun just to roll up and know that we have them. It's been great to see Gabe Davis come out and be consistent. He's great. He played well, but he was inconsistent. It was not reliable that we could get production out of him. And so far this season, man, he's been awesome. He's been reliable. He's scored in almost every game, maybe every game.
00:31:36
Speaker
Um, and has been an answer. So that's been really cool. And yeah, having digs as just this technician on the fields and just this source of, of confidence, this source of, of drive, um, for that offense is huge. It's, it's really, really fun. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I mean,
00:31:55
Speaker
That whole team, I mean, James Cook, new back for you guys. I think he's great. I mean, Gabe Davis is one of the players I love to watch a lot. I mean, he had that four touchdown game against Kansas City in the playoffs. And I remember sitting there because I was sweating out of bed. I had like Chiefs like minus it. Sorry, guys. I had Chiefs minus two and a half and like the over and like the over didn't hit till like I think Gabe Davis scored like 13 seconds left or something like that. And I was like, those words aren't allowed on this podcast.
00:32:23
Speaker
I know, I'm sorry. I hate to bring it up. No, that's OK. That's OK. No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm honest with you. Because listen, I mean, New York fans, it's weird. Some teams just hate each other. And I'm one of those New York fans. Giants, Yankees, Knicks, and Rangers, I don't hate any other New York team. I want to see a New York team win. I'm tired of everyone bashing New York for having a bad sports season. I mean, they're not always wrong.
00:32:49
Speaker
Um, but no, like that year I was really, I was like, I was like, damn, I was like, if this bet loses, I was like, screw it. I was like, I don't care. I was like, this is, this is crazy. Yeah. Um, but you know, it's like, it's such a cool offense to watch. I know in Jacksonville, they, you know, it was kind of like hit or miss on a few drives here and there, but you know, they came back at the end. I mean, that one drive to make it like a five point game, I think they went down the field to what? Two plays, two plays. They drove the field.
00:33:15
Speaker
I wish my team could do that. I would take it like once every like six weeks if they just did that. So I know, man. And that's why sometimes the bills can be just so maddening is you watch the whole first half of that game and the bills can't do goddamn anything on offense. And then when push really came to shove, you're watching Josh and absolutely take over a game and drive down the entire field in two plays. And we score and I'm looking around and I'm like,
00:33:42
Speaker
What the hell are we doing, dude? What the hell is this all for the whole game? What is going on? Even one quarter earlier. Even just one. One quarter earlier would have been nice. Pumped at six out of the first seven drives or something. Just do that on one of them. Come on, assholes. I will say, though, it's truly remarkable how they're able to do that, though. I admire stuff like that. When I see the Dolphins do something like that, or the Bills, all these teams, they're just juggernauts. And it's so true.
00:34:11
Speaker
The way they're able to click and connect, that's one of my biggest concerns going into Sunday night. Of course, I mean, going into the season, it was cool seeing the Giants getting some respect and having all these prime time games. Obviously, 1-4 is not where I expected them to be. But yeah, now I'm like, dang, Buffalo just lost. They're going to be pissed. And now they're going to be home on Sunday night football. They're going to come out slinging the ball. And so that's one thing, too. Like I was saying back to Tom, some of your points,
00:34:41
Speaker
about this defense versus offense for the Bills and Giants is if Josh Allen gets rolling like the Giants don't like have a shot. And like I hate like counting my team out but what
00:34:51
Speaker
has been on the field this year for the Giants is not a winnable team. And they can't sustain this if they want to succeed. If I needed to pick a player who could go in and affect him, Dex Lawrence is on that list, though. Yeah. A lot of guys. Yeah, that's going to be a test. A lot of guys around the league miked up the other day on the Thursday night football game with McCaffrey and George Kittle. And McCaffrey was like 97. He's a beast. And George Kittle's like, yeah, he's a big dude. He stopped. And even Aaron Rodgers last year said,
00:35:20
Speaker
when he was on the Packers, he was like, our interior offensive line was struggling. They were like, we don't know how to stop this guy. So yeah, that's a really big piece of that Giants defense. He's like the centerpiece. So if he can get the Josh Allen, he doesn't even look at the sacks, because obviously Josh Allen's a fast dude, and Dexter Lawrence is a big dude. So I don't really expect him to chase him down. But if he can just create just some havoc in the backfield, and maybe get Josh Allen to just throw one of those balls that
00:35:50
Speaker
as a potential to be picked. Like, you know, that's a good shot just to help the Giants stay in the game, but also maybe take advantage of something, you know? Right. Yeah. Yeah. Keep it close. Totally. Yeah. All right, Tom and Jake or JQ. Anybody have anything else they want to address when it comes to the Giants defense versus the Bills offense? Or are we about settled? I think we're pretty thorough. Look at us. I think we're in a good spot. I mean, the Giants defense, like we were saying,
00:36:18
Speaker
hasn't really showed anything crazy. And Buffalo's offense has showed a lot of spark. So I mean, it's always a good test. And I mean, it's for these young rookies. The Giants are a very young team, which I've always liked. I mean, they have some veteran presence, like in a Dory Jackson.
00:36:32
Speaker
and like a Leonard Williams. Um, but I mean, this is just a cool test for them. And I hope, you know, I hope they're up to the challenge.
Giants' Defensive Weaknesses and Josh Allen's Threat
00:36:39
Speaker
You know, I hope they're not giving up 500 yards plus like they did to Miami. That's all I asked for. So I know it's a big task, but well, we're also, we're not nearly as fast as Miami. So you might be just fine there, bro. It's unbelievable. Like the, the pinch and pull plays they were running where it's like they faked the handoff
00:36:56
Speaker
And they like they, they pitch it out on like a jet sweep or something like the divine agent. Yeah, Miami runs some really cool play do I'm kind of like a nerd in that aspect. Like I kind of like watch like watching films sometimes. And it's just cool like they just like they roll and you know what I actually I thought Miami was gonna was gonna
00:37:15
Speaker
beat Buffalo in Buffalo. And then as I'm sitting down to watch the game, it's kind of funny. The graphic comes on the screen and it's like Josh Allen versus the Dolphins at home. And it was six and I was like, why did I pick them this week? I was like, this is over. And then clearly they steamroll them. So yeah, you talk about the Jets having some they know something about the bills. Josh Allen knows something about the Miami Dolphins, dude. Yeah, he's got that was a fun part. That was a fun one. That really felt really good to do.
00:37:44
Speaker
All right, well, as we transition here to the Giants offense versus the Bills defense, I have one super pressing question for
Evan Neal's Development as Right Tackle
00:37:53
Speaker
you, JQ, and it doesn't super have to do specifically with the matchup, but I'm trying to put my feet in the shoes of Giants fans. Now, this year, Danny Dimes is scheduled to make his base salary, at least, just under or actually weighs under two million, but one million eighty thousand dollars.
00:38:14
Speaker
Next year, he jumps up to $35,500,000.
00:38:19
Speaker
Based on what you're seeing out of Danny Dimes this year, I'm trying it like I'm thinking, were I a Giants fan? I'm starting to panic about this quarterback deal a little bit because I don't know the structure of the deal super well. So it's possible that Joe Shane picked up some tricks from Brandon Bain and structured the deal so that they can get out if it goes south. But as a Giants fan, man, I feel like you guys got to be a little bit nervous about the money that you just that you're getting ready to pay Danny Dimes. No.
00:38:47
Speaker
Absolutely, Nigel, it's such a good point that you bring that up. So he's it's a four year deal, like worth 160 million, I think like 80 or 70 is guaranteed. I forget what it is. But after two years, so after not this is but 2024 next season, they can get out of it and not have to pay anything else. I think all the guaranteed money is in the first two years, something like that. Joe Shane did a good job with it.
00:39:13
Speaker
Okay. Go ahead. The potential out, you're absolutely right. It is the first two years of the deal, but it's, it's so potential out 2025 two year. So yeah, the potential out there and it comes with, it does come with a $22 million debt gap, but there is, and there is a way for those to get for them to get out after it looks like 2025. So they get the first two years of the deal. You nailed it. Yeah. So.
00:39:38
Speaker
I don't mind the amount because obviously a lot of people tend to freak out and they're like, whoa, he's getting so much money.
Giants' Offensive Struggles and Need for Improvement
00:39:46
Speaker
And then you look at the market now and you're seeing guys that are getting like 50 something million a year almost. Or they all get in these guaranteed contracts where it's almost like $250 million. It's ridiculous money. And I get it. Everyone's like, oh, you're basing it off one year though, JQ. It was only like he had a solid year last year.
00:40:07
Speaker
I wasn't happy when they drafted him, obviously, you know, I don't think anyone was, but you, you wouldn't, your team drafts a player, you're obviously not going to like root for their downfall. I mean, some people do that crazy. Um, but now he's a, he's a respectable guy. I know he's not the best quarterback in the league, but you know, he, he keeps his head on his shoulders. He doesn't get into any trouble with the media. You know, he works hard, like Dave, all the guys are always talking about how he's the first one in the building and the last one to leave. Like that's what I've always wanted as a quarterback. Like, you know, I had Eli Manning, I'm 24.
00:40:37
Speaker
Eli was my quarterback for 16 years of my life. I haven't seen another quarterback really since. And I know he's not playing well. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. He's not playing well.
00:40:49
Speaker
the team's not playing well, like the offensive line is not playing well at all. So it's like, Nigel, back to your point, it is a little concerning because, you know, they paid them. Obviously I didn't. I mean, I do pay for season. I do pay for season tickets. So I don't know if some of my money goes into it, but if so, like I want some back. If you're not going to win games, like you might as well give me something, give me something back, maybe like a free game or something. Yeah. But no, it's just like, it's tough because it's like,
00:41:19
Speaker
I mean, now that I'm such a big fan of his, not the excuses, but I'm always like, O-line sucks, no weapons. I'm one of those people that I want to see him succeed, because obviously, he got paid, and they think he can be a good quarterback. And I want to see it too, because I don't want to bite them in the butt, and then them have to deal with the quarterback carousel of trying to find a new one or drafting a guy and trying to build him up to be one of these top tier guys in the NFL.
00:41:47
Speaker
But you know, everyone sees a quarterback like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, and they go, well, he sucks compared to them. I go, well, no, duh, those guys are like supermen. They're like the best of the best and not every quarterback. Obviously, you can tell there's not a lot of good quarterbacks in the NFL. There's a select few that will take your team over the top two, no matter how good they are.
00:42:11
Speaker
Um, so, but I mean, without Andrew Thomas, you can just tell like Nigel, he's so uncomfortable in the pocket. Like the plays like where he gets sacked, it's like two seconds and it's like, all right. Like he had no time to throw the ball. But then when there's, you know, he had a couple scattered plays yesterday against Miami where he has a few seconds to throw the ball, but his initial like read, if it's not there,
00:42:32
Speaker
he wants to tuck in and run or just like get out of the pocket because he's afraid he's going to get killed. So I feel for a man I really do because I want him to succeed. I want the whole team to, of course. But it is a little nerve wracking because it's like I don't want the Giants to have to restart. Yeah, I know trending in that direction. I get a lot of things on Twitter and Instagram of
00:42:52
Speaker
Caleb Williams, like cropped like photoshopped photos in a Giants jersey, which does look nice, or like a Drake may or like something like that. But it's like, I don't want to be bad. Like, I don't want my team to be bad. Like, I'm like having a top like 10 pick is like cool. But it's also means like your team is bad. Yeah, there's there's pain. And it's like, Oh, yeah, like, we got a good guy. And it's like, are we gonna be better next year? Probably not. But we're just gonna get another good pick the year after. So but
00:43:18
Speaker
He, it's concerning, but last year, you know, he really, I thought he went out there and proved himself. And I mean, winning a game on the road of a playoff game, excuse me. And the way he played against like down the stretch of the season, like I was like, I can like live with this, like with his mobility and he throws a good ball when he has time, like the deep balls he's, when he throws them, like, I love it, man. Like I kind of want to ask you guys, like, what do you guys think about it? Like, I know Nigel, you brought up a great question. Like what's your opinion on it? Cause I,
00:43:44
Speaker
Trust me, I hear a lot of things about Daniel Jones.
00:43:49
Speaker
All my friends just tell me he sucks. And I'm like, listen, I'm like, this is my quarterback. Like I know I get it, man. And I, I, JQ, I think you make it. I think you bring up a lot of really good points, dude. I think one of the biggest ones for me and, and obviously the biggest one will forever be that offensive line in it. And we'll get to him in a second. They're so bad. And what sucks is you guys tried with that Evan Neil draft pick and it looked so far at least why it's like it's falling a little bit flat. Do you guys think he's a boss?
00:44:17
Speaker
I'm not going to, man, the athleticism for me, I just, just watching that guy come out of school. This is the second year or third year? Second year. So I'm in cave on second year. For me, dude, like you got to give a guy like that three years, man, because with that, like you can't, you can't teach that athleticism, but what you can get is you can develop functional strength and you can develop cerebrally as long as you have a good
00:44:40
Speaker
offensive line coach. So definitely not labeling Evan Neil as a bust, but, um, I mean, yeah, dude, I don't know. It's, it's gotta be, it's gotta be a little bit, a little bit frustrating. I would imagine. Um, it is. Yeah.
00:44:56
Speaker
So yeah, what do you guys what do you guys think about? I got to hear that. Yeah, no, I think I feel like Jake's about to say something crazy out of pocket. I don't know why. I've seen the moments too, man. I think I think he is a solid quarterback. The dual threat thing is there, which to me, in my opinion, is you can't have a successful franchise anymore without a dual threat quarterback. It's just been proven too many times over in this modern game that that's an essential piece. And you do get that with Danny Dimes.
00:45:24
Speaker
I think, and I go here because this is what really set Josh down over the edge. You got to get that poor guy and number one wide receiver, like a bonafide.
00:45:33
Speaker
number one, that is a route technician and can win at all levels of the field. I think that's been something he's been missing the whole time. No. Yeah. Yeah. And going to get their wall and like Darren Waller has not been that right. I thought there was a chance that going to get Darren Waller, this freak athlete from Las Vegas, like I thought he could fill that role. Right. I thought he okay. Maybe it's not a wide receiver, but it's a number one target.
00:45:55
Speaker
And I mean, so far from our point, at least my point of view, he has not really quite fulfilled that. He's kind of looked like that same Darren Waller we see when he is kind of the last year he did. I mean, he was injured, but he did not look like the Darren Waller we knew from two or three seasons ago. Absolutely. I just think it it kind of I think it like I hate to make it's like not even an excuse excuse. I think just think it all stems back to the offensive line because Daniel Bellinger is the other tight end for the Giants.
00:46:25
Speaker
He got hurt. So the game against Seattle wall or what had to do a lot of chip blocking and then running his routes, like he's best. Like, like say, while I were like guys like that best in space, you got to get them one-on-one with the corner. I mean, he's six six. I went to training camp and I go, why is Darren Waller bigger than every lineman on the field? I was like this guy. And I mean, like he was a problem against the giants defense, like in training camp, like he was.
00:46:49
Speaker
Cooking everyone and it's great to see but Nigel. I think you make the best point man I mean, I I haven't seen him have a number one guy. I I didn't know I mean, I never thought Kenny Gaudet would be a number one But it was always exciting to think like he has a guy that might be able to go up and get the ball. Yeah I was I was so depressed tragedy dude. I'm so glad that got you guys out of that conjure just got out of the whole thing. Yeah, I
00:47:17
Speaker
It was such a big contract to write like a huge bro. So huge. So they had a clean house for that. Yeah. But yeah, that's why it's like, you know, if they end up getting like a top tier draft pick and, you know, maybe Daniel still shows signs that like this season hasn't broken him. Like, I mean, a guy like Marvin Harris would be cool. But how are you going to get him the ball when you
Threats from Leonard Floyd and Von Miller
00:47:40
Speaker
can't block? You know what I'm saying? So it's like that has to be addressed, fixing the offensive line.
00:47:45
Speaker
Um, but yeah, he's never had a true guy. I, I, I still think Darren Waller could be, but just stems back to the offensive line and having time to set up a play, you know, and, and Daniel, of course, not talking in and running it and being like, I'm going to die when he's got like time to actually throw the ball. So yeah, I think, and I think that'll help his decision-making because he'll have more trust in his line and then he can
00:48:06
Speaker
not be not have that that thought in the back of his head and he can go make that decision because I've seen him make kind of I've heard somebody phrase it as like this turn downs right of what plays did he not take what throws that he not make and he's just not seeing these some other are some easy button throws that he could be hitting and he's just not quite getting there.
00:48:24
Speaker
Absolutely. Yeah. So to get a little bit more into the matchup this week, one thing that I find super, super interesting, and now we're going to get to Evan new a little bit. One of the big things that I'm looking at. So at this point, it does not look like the bills are going to have Greg Russo on that defensive end.
00:48:42

position but who we do have starting to come back a little bit and working his way up and we'll hopefully have a bit of a higher pitch count this week is Mr. Von Miller who is a pretty solid defensive end so and this is a matchup where I think things get a little bit interesting on both sides of the ball so when we're talking about um when we are talking about the Giants offense
00:49:05
Speaker
versus the Bills defense, we have the conversation of, um, Von Miller on a pitch count, granted, versus Evan Neal. On the flip side, now correct, before I say this, correct me if I'm wrong, J.Q., K-Von Dibidoe, what, which end is he normally a player? Does he go back and forth?
00:49:22
Speaker
They rotate a lot, I'd say, Nigel, but he's mostly over the left tackle. I mean, I came on to excuse me. OK, mostly over the left tackle. OK. Well, I because I know there was at least a couple of snaps recently watching the Giants where he lined up on the opposite side. And I'm watching I'm watching his reps going up against these right tackles, dude. I think Kayvon to it. Oh, looks really goddamn good.
00:49:46
Speaker
And as I'm watching him play ball, dude, I'm going, this is a problem if he goes up against Spencer Brown, because now Spencer Brown last couple of games to seem to solidify himself a little bit at that right tackle position on the bills offensive line. But I'm looking at this matchup position on both sides of the ball. And I think it probably favors Von Miller a little bit if he's the one going against Evan Neal. But it's a concern on both sides. So you you obviously have some concerns about Evan Neal. Talk to me about where you see that matchup going this weekend and
00:50:15
Speaker
You know, on that side, you've got, and we rotate a lot too, Von Miller, Mr. Floyd, Leonard Floyd, AJ F. Vanessa. You know, these are all guys that play both sides of the line. So talk to me about your scenes from Evan Nealon while you're concerned about him.
00:50:29
Speaker
Absolutely. Are those guys all fast edge rushers? Would you say like, I know Von Miller, like they're, they're quick guys, right? Miller and Leonard Floyd definitely are edge up. And this is more of a power guy. He will try and get you with just an insane, insane first punch off the step. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. We're screwed. We're screwed. I mean, I say that like a funny way because those guys like Floyd and, um, and Von Miller, like those speedy guys, I was telling you guys before we started the episode or maybe I was at one point, but anyway, those guys that are quick,
00:50:59
Speaker
Evan Neal is such a big guy is if he doesn't get his hands on them, they're going right by him. And that's my thing is Evan Neal has a good first two steps. And then it's that third step he gets beat on. And that's when those guys get around them. I mean, you guys have seen the clips on Twitter. Sometimes he's looks like he's looking at like a field goal post and like, like through the end zone, I'm just not watching for like a blitz or like a just like a cross between like the ends like the like a nose tackle or a line back on like a blitz package.
00:51:28
Speaker
But no, it's been tough, man. I mean, I'm still rooting for the guy, because as a fan, I need this to work out.
Critical Need for Giants to Enhance Offensive Line
00:51:35
Speaker
People are like, wow, Kayvon and Neil are going to be two busts in Joe Shane's picks. I'm like, that can't happen. It's not possible.
00:51:44
Speaker
But in like so in some situations you see Evanneal get his hands on a guy He's a big dude at like six seven three hundred plus pounds Like if he gets his hands on a guy like he's gonna stop them like in the run game Like when he just goes straight ahead like he'll push guys off the line and like he does a good job So there's there are bright spots, but all the ugly spots take up all the spotlight obviously in New York here But now it's been tough. It's it has not been a good year. Like he he he sucks and
00:52:13
Speaker
Um, I said it on my podcast like two weeks ago, I was like, I, I, I'm not going to sugarcoat this. I was like, he's a Boston till proven like otherwise. And I, I really do hate to say that cause I don't, I'm not gonna like, I hate talking bad about players, but it's like, we, like the giants need his help and he's just like, like making it worse. So going up against a guy like Von Miller, I know you guys said he was on a snap count, but how, how do you look against Jacksonville? Cause I watched that game. I know he was.
00:52:39
Speaker
Like you guys were saying on the snap count, but I mean, it's good to have that guy back, man. Like he, he's a difference maker as always. I'll put it this way. I missed the first quarter and I think I saw like two Von Miller snaps. Yeah. Yeah. He played maybe five. Like he did not play much. And when he did play, he wasn't super impactful. I think at this point, just given all the.
00:52:58
Speaker
emotional damage this defense has taken over the last couple of weeks, just getting that guy back. I think at this at this specific point, what he provides for that defense emotionally is probably even bigger than what he's going to provide on the field for maybe even the next couple of weeks here. But just just for guys to be able to walk in a locker room and go, OK, we lost Trey. We lost Milano. We lost a quant Jones.
00:53:25
Speaker
but we're getting a first ballot Hall of Famer back on the defensive line. I think there's something that's to be said for that, but he was flat out unimpactful last week against Jacksonville. So, you know, it's, you like to think he's going to get a couple more snaps this week, but we just don't know. We don't know what the plan is. Excuse me. I think this is a good week though for him to come back. I mean, going up against a
00:53:49
Speaker
disheveled Giants offensive line. I think this is a good chance for him to get his feet wet again and get used to playing. Because I know that's tough, traveling to London, playing a game. And also, that's tough for the Bills because Jacksonville played back-to-back games in London. That's what I was saying. When me and my buddies, I have my friend Lewis and JT on my podcast at the end of episodes. And we go through the NFL slate. And we pick spreads and stuff like that. We were all in the Bills. And then it was my pick. And I was like, hang on.
00:54:18
Speaker
I was like Jacksonville has been in London for two weeks now I was like they're definitely used to that like atmosphere there and you know time zone difference and all that crap so I was like I think this game is gonna be closer than people think so I mean by no means is Jacksonville better no shot I think Buffalo is 10 times better but
00:54:36
Speaker
you catch a team on a bad week or like a travel week like that, like anything can happen. So, but no, yeah, I mean, Von Mill is a guy I've always loved from his days in Denver to his time with the Rams when he won a Super Bowl. And to now with the Bills, I mean, he's a game changer. So I look to see him lining up against Evanil a lot, unless they continue to keep him on that snap count. I mean, the game can get out of hand pretty quickly, as you guys have noticed with the Giants the past couple of weeks. So he might not have to play that much. Yeah. Yeah, we'll see there.
00:55:05
Speaker
All right. Well, just for just for time's sake here, fellas, I'll toss it up to Tom and Jake real quick. Anything else you guys want to ask you real quick about the Giants offense versus the Bills defense or should we get it on to the last last leg of conversation here for the evening? Yeah, man. I think we happened to score predictions. Take you. You've been crushing it, man. It's so cool to talk to you and hear your perspective. This is great. I appreciate that, guys. And, you know, same goes to you guys. I mean, you guys are just starting off. You guys know your stuff, man. I mean, I know you guys have been
00:55:33
Speaker
Buffalo fans your whole lives, and I'm sure you guys have known a lot, but it's cool to really chop it up and just get a new perspective from another team.
Saquon Barkley's Injuries and Final Game Predictions
00:55:41
Speaker
It's just like, because obviously I can do my research and know, but fans that love the team and watch them a lot know everything, and you guys can pick them apart.
00:55:50
Speaker
Maybe I'll send some of this to Davell afterwards and I'll let him know like what's going on. But I mean, he knows he doesn't seem pretty damn well. So I'm sure he'd be like, God, don't worry. Like I know. So. All right. So, Jake, you real quick then before we get into predictions, I do. And we have to be short with it. But I do have if you can give me a quick synopsis, man. I'm just, again, putting myself in the shoes of Giants fans. For me, dude, the best ability is always availability. And obviously, Saquon Barkley, bro, is when when he's running on all cylinders, dude,
00:56:19
Speaker
For me, I'm like you, man. I will sit down and watch a Giants game just to watch what Saquon does, because that guy is a freak. I think to this day, his quads are the same size as my torso. But he's injured, it seems like, every year, man. At what point, as a Giants fan, and again, this has got to be a big question to bring up towards the end of the pod, but it's been sitting on my mind. At what point do you start to panic and be like, this guy's just never healthy?
00:56:48
Speaker
It's I think about it like honestly, like week in and week out because you want to see him play. And, you know, it sucks because it's like this guy gets hurt and, you know, he's our best player. And last year was a fully healthy season, besides like the shoulder like sprained he had in the London game against the Packers. But I mean, it just sucks. Like, oh, London, you got hurt in London. Yeah, you got hurt in London. Like Roger, you're listening, buddy. Yes. Yeah. But no, like, I mean,
00:57:16
Speaker
With like a, it's like the position and what comes with that. I don't think he's injury prone. Like I'm, I, as I, I told you guys, I respect him a lot and I always back him up. Um, but the, the injury against Arizona, like one guy hit him high and the other guy hit him low and like folded like a, like a table, like, you know, like stuff like that's going to happen. Why are they running him up the middle when he's best in the open field and one on one beats my mind. I mean, I don't know why he's running it up the middle.
00:57:43
Speaker
Um, but yeah, it sucks. Like it is concerning because obviously he has some incentives tied into his contract where he'll get more money if it works out. But I mean, I don't know, I don't know what to expect from him this year. I don't even know if I'm going to see him play Sunday. And I, I just want to see him play week in and week out. Like, you know, the team's going to be bad this year. Like I still want to see him out there, but honestly, it's up to him too. Does he want to come back and risk getting hurt again? So yeah.
00:58:09
Speaker
All right, man, well, first, JQ, man, thank you so much. Let's get into it. Let's get into a couple of score predictions. Do it, guys. JQ, do you want to do the honors? Do you want to do you want to give the first prediction? I'd love to, because I've already have this number in my head. I think the Bills take this one easy. I like, man, I hate saying this about my team, but I think 35-10. I'm going to put it that. I think Diggs has a big night. Sunday Night Football, they get back on track at home.
00:58:37
Speaker
I think Diggs gets two touchdowns, but I got 35 Buffalo Giants 10. I mean, I'll be, I'll be happy with the giant score and offensive touchdown. I haven't seen one in like 135 minutes. Like I'm starting to lose my mind. So we'll see. I mean, it's been tough, but I just, Buffalo is a better team and I know their defense is banged up right now and they lost a lot of guys, but I mean, the giants are just a mess. Yeah. Uh, let's see, Tom, you want to go next buddy?
00:59:06
Speaker
Yeah. Hey, JQ, man. So Nigel and I are going to this game. Um, so if that happens, I would be over the moon, but I am nowhere near it. I think it's going to be a, I think it's going to be a tighter game. I really do. I think that this, this, this giant's team is going to be ready to play. Um, and this bill's team is kind of reeling. Um, so I'm going to go, uh, Bill's win, but it's a tighter game, 24, 17 bills.
00:59:29
Speaker
OK, all right. I'm happy you think they're going to score a touchdown, Tom. I mean, that means a lot. I'm not kidding. Jake, I'll let you pick. But do you want me to go or you want to go? No, I'll slot in there. I'll go. I agree. I think a tighter game than what Jake, you queued up. I'll go 21-10. 21-10? So close till the end, and then Buffalo scores in the fourth quarter to kind of push the water gates open. Good game. Yeah, who knows, man?
00:59:58
Speaker
Um, man, I'm kind of more on the boat with Tom on this one, dude. And the reason I say it is because Mr. Brian table, if there's one guy that can assemble a game plan to pick apart Josh Allen's weaknesses, whether it be coverage or otherwise, it's probably Brian table. So I'm going to sit here and I'm going to say 24, 28. I am going to pick the bills to win, but I don't think it's going to be, I don't know, man. I just think that's such a huge weapon to have Dave's over there. And he knows the inner workings of 17 and I'm going to go 28, 24.
01:00:28
Speaker
Okay. All right. I mean, it is a Brian Dable revenge game. So I guess maybe he's, he's, he's been wanting the giants to be bad and to come out on Sunday night football against his former team and throw some fireworks out there. So we'll see. I mean, that like is interesting to hear from you guys though. Cause I know, I know Buffalo just lost the Jags, but, but still though I was like, they're, they're a good team. I know the injuries, but I could tell you guys are kind of like, like, this is like a tough point of the season right now for them, you know, like losing all these guys and
01:00:56
Speaker
trying to rally around you know rally the troops back up yeah dude we're also a little superstitious so that's a good thing to be jaded we're also very jaded yeah yeah yeah we ride the roller coaster every week so well jq man i you're gonna take us out here in just a few seconds but i know i speak for tom and jakey when i say man thank you so much for sharing your time with us and uh it means a lot to us to do this man it's great to chat with with other uh
01:01:23
Speaker
other intelligent football fans. And man, I think we'll have to look forward to doing this again down the road. Listen, guys, I just want to, you know, relay the message back and say thank you to like two for having me on. I know this is like a technically a joint podcast for both of our shows. But Tom, Nigel and Jake, this is awesome. I mean, I love to hop back on and chop it up with you guys. I mean, we talked. I feel like we covered a lot of good points and we shared some laughs.
01:01:47
Speaker
We shared a drink. This is almost romantic, I feel. We're having a good time out here. We light a candle for you. Yeah, really, right? I mean, you might be lighting candles for me after this game Sunday. So not just all jokes aside. Thank you, guys, though. It truly means a lot. I mean, networking is one of the things I love to do. And that's a big reason why I started the podcast. So it's been cool to meet a bunch of people through Twitter and Instagram. And of course, just friends and family. People give suggestions.
01:02:17
Speaker
You should talk to my buddies. They started a show where, you know, my buddy's got a show like he'd love to have you on. I love it, man. I mean, it's a cool community, the podcast community. And I think more people should take that, not even like that jump or risk, like take advantage of it. If you got a crew of guys or girls or whoever wants to start a podcast, like go do it. You know, like it's a good time. Absolutely. Yeah, it's a great appointment. Yeah, dude.
01:02:39
Speaker
So you guys want me to do the outro? We're good. Let's do it. All right. Cool. Well, and this thing that is an episode for the guys for let's go Buffalo. This is their 11th episode. So shout out to those guys. Make sure you check them out on Instagram and Twitter for myself. Nigel plugged everything for us earlier in the episode, which check the boys out. I mean, we do this for fun. We have a good time. These three guys have a really good thing going on.
01:03:04
Speaker
And their team makes a lot of big splashes. So I expect them to have a really good year. And listen, a good year for the Bills means a good year for the podcast too, guys. I'll let you guys know that. But thanks, everyone, for tuning in and listening. If you guys have any questions or anything, just hit us up on Instagram or Twitter. You name it. But the boys are out. Tom, Nigel, and Jake, thanks for having me on, guys. And we'll catch you guys all on next week's episode.
