Sammi: Hello, I'm Sammy, and you're listening to or watching Rose Plate Special in Paradise, the most dramatic
Steve: ah Hello! And I'm Steve.
Sammi: um bird but ah mating calling-ist um horse-girling-est, um backstabbing-est recap podcast of The Bachelor ever.
Steve: Ever.
Sammi: i didn't really have a lot. I'm sorry. I froze. I panicked. um But we're back. we're We are so back.
Steve: We're so back.
Sammi: And then and our schedule is going to get jacked up again, probably. But we are back for now. And um I'm so excited. So, yeah. So we we were off doing very nerdy things in the interim.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I was in a nerd cabaret.
Steve: I don't know. I think everything i did was cool. Everything I did was really cool.
Sammi: oh okay.
Steve: Your stuff was pretty nerdy.
Sammi: Sorry.
Steve: that's...
Sammi: Yeah, that's right. I was in a nerd cabaret. You just went to the very cool Gen Con.
Steve: Yeah, which, yeah, it's a board game convention. It's really cool. Everyone there is basically the Fonz. Like, what are you what are you talking about?
Sammi: Yeah, everyone there definitely owns motorcycles.
Steve: Yeah, yeah, they all have leather jackets on.
Sammi: Um,
Steve: They cigarette dangling their mouth. They're just, like, snapping their fingers, but in, like, kind of an aggressive way.
Sammi: Yeah. Yes.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: Yes, that's exactly what it's like. um So, yeah. And it's so funny that we were doing two nerdy things and I was like, well, I'm going to be in town doing this nerdy thing. And then you're like, going to be out of town doing a nerdy thing.
Sammi: But I'm guessing you had a really good time.
Steve: yeah i had a wonderful time i didn't sleep at all but always a good time lot of just staying up way too late playing a lot of board games doing convention stuff it's good also it's huge nerd huge nerd i i did i did control my drinking this year you'll be happy to know
Sammi: That's good.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. What a nerd.
Sammi: Oh, good.
Steve: ah only got plastered on the first night, but in my defense, we went to a bar and it had a giant like seven foot, eight foot tall gumball machine.
Sammi: Uh-huh.
Steve: You you turn the dial and then it costs like $10 for a ah dial turn. You turn the dial. And then you get a little ball and you open it up and then whatever it says on the inside is what you get.
Steve: And it's like sometimes lots of things you don't want to drink.
Sammi: Oh.
Steve: And other times it's like really good stuff that you probably normally.
Sammi: That's
Steve: it's kind of a, you know, bit of a gamble.
Sammi: <unk>s fun.
Steve: And I, I did what any smart gambler does, which I kept getting bad stuff. So I kept going in hopes that I would get good stuff, but it was just a lot of, a lot of bad stuff.
Steve: I, yeah.
Sammi: Interesting. I don't know why it made me think of two things. One was ah where I used to work back in the day, we had dollar beer and it was like in paper bags.
Sammi: And most I don't think any of them were really that good.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Like the best you could get would be like Schlitz or Blatt's or PBR or something like that. Like it was or hams or you know what i mean?
Steve: Blatz.
Sammi: Like
Steve: I like Blatz as a beer because you just hear the name and you know you're in for a bad time.
Sammi: You're like, oh, got it. But like those were like the best or like um maybe we know, I don't think we really had high life.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: It was all cans. Well, I mean, you can get it in cans, but I don't think we maybe once in a great while.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um But those were like some of the five dollar liters we would also sell. But like, you know, most of the time you'd get like Mickey's or, you know, something like or like something really malty, you know what i mean?
Steve: Hell yeah, Mickey's.
Sammi: And so, yeah, it's just interesting. And I'm like, that's not the kind of gamble I want to make. But then again, I'm the type of person who would be like, I'll pick a tattoo out of a vending machine. So like, you should not listen to me.
Sammi: That's what I'm saying.
Steve: Yeah, yeah. No, I kind of get the allure of game. Not that I've done that much of it, but ah yeah, for this thing. And and really, it's like, what's what's the benefit of even, i mean, there's like a ah one in a hundred chance that I get something really good.
Steve: I think the worst moment for me was two times in a row, I pulled two shots of Jaeger. So I had four shots of Jaeger sitting in front of me. So what was last time you did a Jaegermeister shot?
Sammi: ah
Steve: For me, it was when I was probably like 23. twenty three so that was great.
Sammi: Yeah, I definitely haven't done that in a very long time.
Steve: No, it just tastes like the devil's toothpaste.
Sammi: But I can, as soon as you said it, I'm like, I can taste it.
Steve: You taste it. Yeah. No, there's there's something about that. like ah there's just There's a smell when you combine a musty basement in a college town with Bud Light, Jack Daniels, and Jägermeister.
Steve: And it makes this sticky scent that I can taste and smell to this day.
Sammi: Yeah. I can feel it.
Steve: So you can feel it. It's on your skin. You need a shower.
Sammi: Yeah, I can feel it. You can't get rid of it. Oh, that's so interesting. Yeah, I didn't do anything exciting like that. I did. um There's a meme that I wasn't aware of, um but it's like this girl. It was like from 2009. If I can find it, I'll send a link. But Um, like I'll put it in the show notes, but it's like a girl and she's, there's a leak spinning on the screen and she's singing like a Finnish song and half of it is in Finnish gibberish. You know what I'm talking about?
Steve: I have no idea.
Sammi: You might, you might know the song.
Steve: You made that up.
Sammi: Maybe, maybe I am making it up. me see if I can find it. It's like leak spinning girl. I don't know. Yeah. Anime girl swinging a leak while singing. This is it.
Sammi: OK. Loy to my girl leak spin. It's a flash animation set to a scat singing section of the Finnish song Lev on Polka.
Steve: Oh.
Sammi: um And yeah, so basically so one of my friends, they ended up I will I will put this on ah the show notes for sure. Um, so because you came for a bachelor in paradise, you say for the leak spinning.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: So basically my friend did this thing where they learned the whole song in finish and, um, they tried to put a leak on a drill to get it to spin while they were singing.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: But the problem was it was like boring a hole in the leak. I mean, if, I mean, there's other ways I would have approached this, but we were, We were in the 11th hour. We didn't have time. Okay. So they said, do you want to come up and spin the leak for me?
Steve: Oh, wow.
Sammi: So there is footage of me spinning a leak out there. um But I also, yeah, I also sang the element song and I sang ah Black Sheep ah by Metric in honor of Scott Pilgrim.
Steve: In case anyone's looking.
Sammi: but And i what else did I do? Oh, I did a Bob's Burger song.
Steve: Well, there you go.
Sammi: um One of my friends said, do you want to be Linda? And I said, I can be
Steve: who
Sammi: That's no problem.
Steve: Big Linda energy.
Sammi: that's That's absolutely no problem. That's such a high compliment to be told you Linda energy. I strive to have Linda energy every day. So yeah, it's so funny. I was like, what a miss for the nerd cabaret to do nerd things on the same weekend as Gen Con.
Sammi: But we still had a sold out show.
Steve: Hey, that's good.
Sammi: People were really excited about it. And I got to go to my friend's pre-K, their kid's pre-K graduation.
Steve: Ooh.
Sammi: my God. And they wore caps and gowns and everything. So cute.
Steve: Diplomas. so
Sammi: I couldn't believe it. They went over the bridge, you know. Oh my God. I freaked out. and i was like, this is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life. So um I was watching, I was catching up on bachelor in paradise at my parents' house ah where my parents weren't.
Sammi: I was basically just house sitting and cause they were at a a concert, a week weekend long concert. So i was like, everybody's everywhere that I'm here and no one's here except for a couple of people.
Sammi: Um, so Apollo and i went to my parents' house and we watched Bachelor in Paradise. And then the second episode, um, so week six, episode six, whatever.
Sammi: um I watched that in my new cardio cinema setup and it's so great. Oh my God. Did you ever go, you would, did you ever go to gold gym?
Steve: No.
Sammi: downtown? No.
Steve: Did I ever go to the gym?
Sammi: who I asked. Listen, i knew the answer was no, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Steve: I've walked by it many times.
Sammi: do you know what i mean?
Steve: i know the location.
Sammi: Yeah, yeah.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Well, that was like my gym. That was my gym for a couple years because I was right there. So it was like really easy to get to.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And my I've been chasing this high ever since. They have this cardio cinema where they'll play like they usually play a movie or maybe two movies a day and they have this schedule on the calendar.
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: So it'll be like today we're playing Clueless.
Steve: oh
Sammi: So and they'll tell you about the time it's going to start and end. So you can if you want to watch the whole thing, you can try to like plan to get there at a certain time. But usually it was like a movie I had seen a bunch. So I was just happy to catch it whenever they played a lot of like crowd pleasers, you know.
Sammi: So, yeah, I get there, I jump on the treadmill and it's like I'm watching Clueless and all of a sudden I went four miles and everything's dark.
Steve: but
Sammi: Like you can see just enough to like get to your machine. You can't really see beyond that. So there's a ton of machines in there and you can't really see anybody.
Steve: yeah
Steve: Are people like sprinting? Or like, what is the choice?
Sammi: No, I mean, well, a couple of people ran like some people would jog and stuff like that. But ah by and large, I would say people were like walking. There was like, um you know, like stair climbers and ellipticals and rowing machines and bikes and
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: and treadmills in there. I think that was it. And so, yeah, you could just, you just picked your machine of choice and got on it and you couldn't even really see the people next to you.
Sammi: You were just like so engrossed by the movie. And I was like, that's so cool. And then I found out, first of all, there's not a lot of gold gyms. No other gyms do cardio cinemas that I know of, unless it's like a boutique gym. I don't know.
Steve: yeah Oh, very special Milwaukee.
Sammi: And most gold gyms don't even have cardio cinemas. So I was like, I need to make one. So we rigged up a projector in the basement in this room that is basically a movie room.
Sammi: And when I turn all the lights off, I've got all my cardio equipment in there. and It's my new cardio cinema.
Steve: yeah There you go.
Sammi: And it's a great place to watch Bachelor in Paradise, I just have to say. And now that we're 10 minutes in, yeah, let's talk about the actual episode.
Steve: Get your steps in.
Sammi: um But yeah, so we're going to cover episodes five and six. We got to do Mormon Wives soon, too.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: We got to catch up on that.
Steve: Oh, we do. We do.
Sammi: um A lot of I haven't seen I've been trying to avoid a lot of the chatter online. um But yeah, people seem pretty unhappy with this season in general.
Sammi: I mean, not just with the production value, like, With everything. Like the editing feels weird. The. The stories feel weird. The couples feel weird. Like everything.
Sammi: and The other thing that I've heard is they feel more rushed this season.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I've heard that from people who have been on the show.
Steve: Yep.
Sammi: They said that um they didn't get as much time as normal. I think that's the other thing. When you're giving them, even if they had the same number of days, when you're giving them their own rooms and spaces, like, yeah, it's nice. You're not going to be all like hot and sweaty and gross and whatever.
Sammi: But that also means you're not forcing them into a situation to like interact and get to know each other better.
Steve: ye
Sammi: So I feel like the bonding, even just like between, you know, just cast members or whatever you want to call them, isn't as obvious as it's been in past seasons.
Sammi: Like, it yeah, I don't know.
Steve: Yeah. It's also, as I understand it, everything's kind of locked in now, right?
Sammi: The chemistry is not as Yeah.
Steve: So we're not going to have like surprised people parachuting in to ruin relationships. It's just like, you got who you got, unless you don't want them anymore. I guess you could swap within couples.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah.
Steve: ah So, I mean, I could see it theoretically working. because it's like, okay, well, you're locked into this thing and then we're going to just like contain the messiness.
Steve: And then you have the competitive part. So then it becomes like, do you just compete for the money or are you really competing for love? Like that's the idea behind the tension.
Steve: But so far in execution, I don't think they've really been hitting it. ah and And then the other problem is, is I just like most of these couples,
Sammi: yeah
Steve: are not interesting to me. you know a few of these people are just kind of like locked in or whatever, but there's no there's no real chaos here.
Sammi: who
Steve: like what What are the most chaotic elements? I would say Jonathan continuously hanging by a thread, just just coasting through, God bless him.
Sammi: I don't know how he's yeah
Steve: and then And then Brian is an asshole and Dale's an idiot. But these are things we knew coming in.
Sammi: yeah
Steve: like come on, like how has, at least with, with someone like Dale is you get these different sides of daily, you go, baby, baby's not so. And then, and then you say, oh no, he's, he's exactly who I thought he was.
Steve: Brian go back to his first moment when he was on the bachelorette and he had that weird, like,
Sammi: ah hu
Steve: bully moment thing with Jeremy in the car.
Sammi: With Jeremy. Yeah.
Steve: And it's like, you suck. You've always sucked and you look like you suck. You have one of those suck faces that I hate. And then you just, every single week you continue to suck in different ways.
Steve: um Especially in the last episode, I'm sure we'll talk about it, but just, The conversations that he's had with Parisa, it hurts my brain.
Steve: I don't like it.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. You have one of those suck faces that sucks is a really good insult. I'm going to use that in the future.
Steve: ah
Sammi: You know what? You have a really. yeah your Your face sucks. You have a suck face that sucks.
Steve: Suck face. Yep.
Sammi: Yeah. um Yeah. So anyway. Yeah. It's interesting. Right. So like we're covering week five, week six. Week five is day nine.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: It's only day nine.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: I mean, that doesn't seem very long, right? And then I think by week six, what were we at? date Day 10 or 11? Something like that. Like, it wasn't that many.
Steve: ye
Sammi: It was maybe like a couple days or something like that. It wasn't that many. And um wait, yeah, because that did end in a row ceremony. Okay, I'm just trying to remember. Anyway. So, yeah, there's just like we had like a round where they did pick and then there was like another round, I think. And then they're like, OK, that's it now. And who knows? Maybe they'll still throw in like a surprise person or something like that.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Oh, the other thing we have to talk about is Perfect Match. I haven't watched it yet. I got to watch it. Have you heard? Oh, my God. Okay. So perfect match on on Netflix. um Rachel's on there.
Sammi: And so is Clayton. And God, who else? ah I was like, wait, what? This is like batch yeah Bachelor Nation Extended Universe.
Steve: Is this another dating show?
Sammi: um
Steve: Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Sammi: Perfect match. because And then apparently Susie is being talked about. on that show too so like Susie did a really funny TikTok where um you know like she said something like sometimes it's not all about you but like sometimes it is and it was like Rachel or no I don't know if it was Rachel and Clayton talking but it was Clayton talking to somebody and and it was he was talking about Susie you know she's like
Steve: Oh
Sammi: It's like, God, am I the drama on two episodes? Two men who can't get over me? Oh, my God.
Steve: my god.
Sammi: I thought i was so funny.
Steve: That's amazing.
Sammi: um Yeah. Good for her. Seriously. Good for her. um Wait. OK, I'm trying to find the cast list. But yeah, because I just I like I said, I'm watching this stuff kind of in passing.
Sammi: But I oh, here go. List of perfect match contestants. But Rachel, she just popped up because she was on, I mean, ethnic file, but she was on the Vile Files. Yeah.
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: But I really she's yeah she's so funny. I mean, I'll always like her. OK, let's see, because here's the deal. So they have people from Love is Blind, The Mole, um too Hot to Handle, Love Island, USA, Temptation Island, Love is Blind UK, The Circle, um The Ultimatum and Siesta Key.
Steve: m
Sammi: think that's it. So yeah, like all these different shows, all these different, um yeah, all these different like franchises and seasons. But yeah, Rachel is on there and Clayton is on there.
Steve: Interesting. interesting
Sammi: So I'm like, ooh, I kind of want to watch this just to see what they're doing there, even though I don't know most of these people. um Might be kind of interesting. So just putting that out there that...
Sammi: that and yeah If we want to maybe briefly cover it, might be good to watch a couple episodes just to get a feel for what they're doing over there.
Steve: Interesting. Yeah, I feel like we have to because, you know.
Sammi: Yep.
Sammi: There's not a lot going on here, so we've got to talk about something else.
Steve: No, extended universe.
Sammi: So i will I will plan on watching Perfect Match so we can talk about that too. um But yeah, so like we so we start day nine with Faith coming in.
Sammi: And then why did I write Faith being like, she's going to be the hoe of the show? Did she say something like that?
Steve: I don't recall that. I think you're just calling a woman a hoe. That seems to be the case, Jamie.
Sammi: No, I think she said something like, I'm here to like, no, I'm, there's no shame in that at all.
Steve: Why are you ho-shaming dating contestants on The Bachelor? Yeah.
Sammi: You should know that about me. But um no, but she, but she, but she,
Steve: I'm just trying to make you look bad. I can't believe Sammy said that! The comments going to be great. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: ah like Listen, it's pot kettle situation here, so don't even worry about it, everybody. Please calm down. No, I think she said something like she was here to like have a good time and date a bunch of people and like make out with everybody or whatever.
Sammi: And then she was kind of...
Steve: Yeah, which is exactly what you should do.
Sammi: Right? isn't Didn't she say something like that? I swear.
Steve: Mm-hmm. No, she did.
Sammi: Please don't get mad at me. And then she said something like... And then she was like, but these men... I don't know about it. But then...
Steve: Yeah, which...
Sammi: She was like, you know what?
Steve: fair.
Sammi: Actually, Kim's pretty cool. So good for good for Kim, because I really am always rooting for him. i I think he's one of those men who like is so awkward but is very genuine.
Sammi: And so, yeah.
Steve: what Yeah, that's the thing. It's just like, lights are on, but nobody's home. But he's pure of heart and empty of mind.
Sammi: Yeah, he like I mean, he obviously, you know, like being a widower, you know, it's like he hasn't had to like, you know, have game for quite some time.
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And and it's I thought it was really sweet. um Who is it? Who is he talking to Nancy? i think. Right. Because Nancy lost her husband. Yeah. And he was talking about, you know, like grief and all of that and still, you know, having ah have a hard time getting over it.
Sammi: And I feel like that's when you saw a really good, very vulnerable side of Kim. And and it's like, oh, yeah, like you can see like, i don't know, it's like all the dedicated husband stuff really came through there.
Sammi: It was very sweet.
Steve: Oh, yeah.
Sammi: It was a really sweet moment.
Steve: No, he's a solid dude. He's just a goober.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. He's like trying, you know, he's trying and I give him that.
Steve: and Definitely trying.
Sammi: Listen, I'm rooting for him ah very much. um But yeah. So, okay. So, and this was also like, we opened this episode to where Kat was talking to Dale.
Sammi: Like he said something like we came from different backgrounds or different upbringings or whatever. And that's like a really sore spot for her.
Steve: Oh, God, that thing.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Yeah, because it doesn't mean anything.
Sammi: That was really, yeah. Yeah.
Steve: ah She's like, you're kind of being a dick and you didn't communicate this well. He's just like, well, we're from different backgrounds. What? What does that even mean? That means nothing.
Sammi: Yeah, it's...
Steve: It's just like a ah a thing you could slap on any conflict ah to to obfuscate the the obvious issue at hand.
Sammi: her
Steve: It's it's idiotic.
Sammi: I think the thing that's weirder, too, is she's like, I don't know if he knows that that's, like, really hurtful.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um And if it is, he's extra fucked up. But I don't... I mean... I don't know. I feel like Dale is like weaponized incompetence incarnate. So I don't really know.
Steve: Weaponized in confidence. I like that. I like that.
Sammi: Well, yeah you know what I mean? Like he just like,
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I feel like he he says a lot of things without thinking. So I don't necessarily think he's doing it to be... I feel like a lot of the effects of the things he does can be perceived as malicious, but I don't think he's actively necessarily being malicious.
Sammi: I think it's just like his default mode is hurtful to Kat.
Steve: Yeah.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Yep.
Sammi: That's how I interpret it, um you know, from what they've put together, because we get this flashback of her talking about having a really tough upbringing and background.
Steve: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And I think Dale came from a pretty like stable situation. And so it's I can't interpret it as a dig to, you know, having not a soft place to land growing up.
Steve: who
Steve: yeah
Sammi: Um, and so, you know, it's like, if he didn't know that, that's whatever, you know, but also it's just, yeah, it's just kind of a weird thing to say as a defense when someone has a problem with you.
Steve: It's very strange.
Sammi: It's like to bring it to that is just kind of very strange. Um, and Dale is just so flip floppy, like throughout the entire season, you know, it's like you're a priority to me until I see a new shiny object that I'm interested in.
Steve: And still there's yeah's another hot chick that walks by and then you're like, ooh.
Sammi: Yeah, he's just like so slimy. I don't know. And I feel like he's hitting... I feel like he's kind of at an early midlife crisis stage. Do you know saying?
Steve: I like that. Yeah, yeah.
Sammi: It's like... ah It's just... It's like i He's chasing something. i think he knows like I'm getting up there in bachelor years.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um You know, I'm they're not going to let me do this again.
Steve: Nope.
Sammi: So this is my last shot. So I got like have fun with it and whatever. But he's also trying to, i think, rehab his image a little bit. And so he's like, well, i should stay committed. I don't know. I think he is trying to make himself look good.
Steve: Oh, totally.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Totally.
Sammi: Mm hmm. So, and he's saying whatever.
Steve: Yeah. which is Which is great because he's not accomplishing that at all.
Sammi: No, he's not doing a good job at it.
Steve: so ah
Sammi: And it also feels like he's saying whatever to Kat when his ass is on the line to stay in her good graces. And then, yeah, he like immediately drops that when he has the power.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: So I think it's going to be really interesting to see how that stuff plays out as things are locked down and the show continues um to see where he stays or strays or whatever.
Steve: Yep.
Sammi: But the thing is like, and I think they did fairly well in the second episode we're going to talk about. With the bedding and stuff, right? they They did okay, right? Were they one of the couples that did decent?
Steve: yeah yeah they did fine h yeah I don't know I just want to say like shout out to Kat for not killing him like I think Kat from a few years ago would have murdered him yeah
Sammi: They were kind of like in the middle, right? I can't remember everybody's points. I should have written that down. But again, I was on a treadmill.
Sammi: Seriously, she's done so much work on herself. You can tell she's like she's like really done a lot of inner work and good for her.
Steve: mm-hmm mm-hmm
Sammi: um Yeah, I'm trying to remember. Let's see High low game points. Let's see if they have it. um Yeah, the high low thing was really interesting. Oh, there's a bachelor fantasy league.
Sammi: And why are we not part of it?
Steve: Hmm. I don't know.
Sammi: Hello.
Steve: We should be.
Sammi: i know. um High stakes bet. Yeah. Because. Yeah. OK. Yeah. That was. Yeah. They led the pack. Yeah. Kat and Dale were way high up.
Sammi: Bailey and Jeremy were way high up. And then Leslie and Gary were way high up. But then Gary decided to make that ridiculous bet. Remember? Yeah.
Steve: Oh, that was awesome. He's so dumb.
Sammi: That like totally like shut them all the way down. um But yeah, they yeah, they did well. They were like on the higher end of things. But obviously, Jeremy took a really bold bet and got it right.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And then nobody could beat that.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: So that was why that they had taken the lead. And we'll have to talk about it. him later. But um yeah, OK, I just wanted to double check that I had that right. So, yeah, I mean, it's like they obviously are talking a lot and they're spending a lot of time together and they were strategic enough in the game.
Steve: Yeah, yeah.
Sammi: And they do, I think, make fairly good teammates.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: I think the question just is, yeah, is there a longevity there? Is is Dale just trying to work out the strategy or or does he have feelings for Kat? And I feel i do feel more protective,
Sammi: of Kat watching how much she's grown. I'm like, don't fuck her over.
Steve: No, don't do it.
Sammi: Okay. That's not going to be okay with me. She was always good TV. And now I feel like she's good TV and like a chill person. And I'm like, don't, don't do mean things to her. She's nice.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: Um, but yeah, so we start this episode with a rose ceremony or wait, no, sorry. That was week, uh, six. Um, JK was looking at the wrong notes. But yeah, so at this point, like she's talking about the different backgrounds thing. And Dale's like, well, I don't have any concerns about you and you're a priority for me.
Sammi: um But we'll see yeah how that changes in the weeks to come. I also love that around this time, this was when April like, okay.
Sammi: Also, i love April. I mean, April's great.
Steve: She's kooky, man.
Sammi: She's so, she's, oh my God.
Steve: I'd hang out with her.
Sammi: Yes. Yeah. I would love to, I would love to know what she thinks about my energy. um
Steve: i would like an energy reading from her.
Sammi: And, but yeah.
Steve: Is that available?
Sammi: Yes.
Steve: Let's get this girl some crystals. Come on.
Sammi: April, get on Cameo and do energy readings, please.
Steve: Please, God, please.
Sammi: You gotta do it.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Please.
Steve: Otherwise, I'm just going to get drunk and throw money at Jax Taylor to say silly things. Why?
Sammi: Oh my gosh.
Steve: ah
Sammi: Oh my gosh. there I just watched a cameo from Jax. um ah And it was like, it was something, he it was like, I think someone's birthday or graduation or something, but the person that he was sending it to had like lost a parent and you know and and he has as well.
Steve: Mm hmm.
Sammi: And so he just goes into this whole thing and he's like, i I would like to tell you that it's gonna get better, but it's not, it's just gonna keep getting worse.
Steve: Oh
Sammi: But then he's just like trauma dumping, you know, like what the hell, Jack?
Steve: my god. Amazing.
Sammi: What the hell? Oh, my God. Yeah, we do. We should can we should think about a cameo because you can do promotional cameos as well.
Steve: It's true. It's true.
Sammi: We can you can pay extra for like a promotional cameo. We should look through Bachelor Nation and see who's doing it and get one of them to promo stuff.
Steve: think it's a good idea.
Sammi: I'm going to think about that. OK, for a while, Tammy was like 25 bucks.
Steve: Really?
Sammi: Yeah, and I love me some Tammy.
Steve: Wow.
Sammi: So if she's still on, Tammy, if you're still on there, you're gonna be getting a message from me shortly. i guess I totally want you to do a video. um Oh, yeah. I also made a note that when Faith came in, it was the same Spencer audio.
Sammi: There's a new arrival. It's really annoying me. um And I'm so sorry. OK, so anyway, so April's on the beach and she is like, I'm frisky and I'm going to have men take shots off of off of me.
Steve: Hell yeah.
Sammi: And she's amazing. She's just like, whatever. Who cares? Like. The young women aren't going to get jealous of this. They know I'm just having fun. So like, you want to take a shot? And yeah, she's so smart.
Sammi: um And OK, this was around the time that the the other the new wave of friend zoning is happening. So Leah, I'm so sorry.
Sammi: i feel like I keep saying Leah. I'm so sorry, Leah, Leah, Leah, Leah.
Steve: like uh like the princess from star wars come on
Sammi: Like the princess from Star Wars. But anyway, um she goes she's going to go out with Jonathan. And and yeah again, it's like, OK, well, maybe this is going to go well. I mean, do you have any wild conspiracy theories about why Jonathan is friend zoning everyone? Because some people on the Internet do.
Steve: Oh, no. Why? I just assumed that he likes being on the beach and he's having a good time, but he's not finding a romantic connection.
Sammi: I think that's probably true. Some people are saying, is there endgame with him and Jen? But I don't know. I think that's a little too romantic.
Steve: I think that's, you're looking you're looking too far into it.
Sammi: I think that's a little too fanfiction-y, you know?
Steve: I think the reality is, is like he was on the beach. He didn't have a connection with people. He tried. He's been actively trying.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: And, you know, with Leia, maybe, maybe not communicating so well. Fine. Sure. um But yeah, on the whole, I think he's just not connecting with anyone on that level.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: So he's just like, but I like it here and I'm having fun.
Sammi: Yeah. I mean, I think the thing well and who knows, i'd be' I'll be curious to hear hear how this all shakes out and and what happened after Paradise. I mean, obviously, he had to wait a long time and like remain single before he got on the beach.
Sammi: Right.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: Wasn't it like a year or something like that that he had to like he had like promise to like, you know, so I'm like, that's a long time. I don't know. Um, so I don't know if that that's the reason I think, okay, well maybe cause cause remember when Leah asked him, I think that was in week six, the episode six where she said like, do you have anything else going on here or outside of paradise?
Sammi: And he was like, no. And I was like, and she was like, okay. And that's, was also my face. I was like, okay. I don't know. Then what's, I think maybe part of it is we're so used to people coupling up on the show that when someone is perhaps, he you know, he's being totally honest.
Steve: you
Sammi: um When someone's being totally honest, it's throws us, you know, because, but it's like, you know, i feel like that happens on so many shows and it's like when someone's like, well, yeah, it's like, what are the chances?
Steve: Yep. That could be it.
Sammi: Okay. You're in a room with 10 people. There's a good chance you don't vibe with any of them.
Steve: Yeah, I would not vibe with any of these people.
Sammi: That's like like a normal thing.
Steve: I'd be like, you're hot, but dumb.
Sammi: ah Well, what about Jill?
Steve: What do i I do with this?
Sammi: Okay. What about Jill?
Steve: Oh, no, Jill, I would marry.
Sammi: Jill's a catch.
Steve: Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Sammi: Jill is like such a catch. Oh, my gosh. She's so much better than this show. Like for a real.
Steve: yeah yeah
Sammi: I mean, you know, and Kat's getting there too. like yeah and And I do think Jonathan is one of the better people on the show too. Obviously, i was I'm always team Jonathan. But like... Yeah, there's just something there's it's not working.
Sammi: It's not working in whatever capacity, but he's trying again.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: He's going on a date with Leia. um And then there's this bird of paradise party that's happening. And actually, this is one of my favorite things I've ever seen on Paradise. I am not joking.
Steve: This is like top tier.
Sammi: Everybody getting dressed up like full, like glitter and makeup and feathers and like wild costumes. It was so good. Like, why don't they do this kind of stuff more often?
Sammi: Just like, just, and I mean, talk about in character who went, like Kim went in full character.
Steve: Oh,
Steve: oh yeah.
Sammi: He's just, he's just like, ah, the whole time. Bonkers.
Steve: Oh, yeah.
Sammi: and And here's the thing, like Parisa is I I just feel like we have been robbed of Parisa's entire personality on the show. And it sucks because she is like the type of person who would get into this like fully.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And yeah, Brian's just like I just feel like he's dulls her sparkle at every turn.
Steve: Oh gosh, he is the worst. and And what is his chief complaint in in the most recent episode? He's just like, yeah, I noticed you say nice things to me and you compliment me.
Sammi: You compliment me too much.
Steve: Yeah. And she's like, you smell nice. You have a pretty smile. You have really nice eyes. Like just, it's not like she's like gushing or anything. Like she's just like, Hey, here's the thing I like, which is lovely.
Steve: and he's like, my love language is no words of affirmation. Yeah.
Sammi: Yeah, it's so weird. OK, this is actually a good segue. Well, a quick sidebar, um because this was a thing that I just found out. So so ah Tuck walked in from the garage and he's got for those of you who don't know, he's got hair about as long as mine.
Sammi: And he just got a perm to not too long ago, although we need to work on it more because like he's not giving in a product, but it's still like a little wavy, you know.
Steve: Ooh. Wow.
Steve: He's not giving it a product.
Sammi: No, I really am like, I can I just I want to get my hands on your hair. I want to do something with it.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But um but he came in from the garage and it's like hot outside. So he had like one shirt, like one button on button on his shirt, too. And he came in with this long hair. And I was like, you look like a romance novel cover. Like you just like walked in and he was like this.
Steve: Oh my God.
Sammi: And I was like, I was like, oh, and I was like, oh, my God.
Steve: ah
Sammi: And I said, you almost look like Fabio after he was on that roller coaster. And
Steve: but he got hit by the bird in the face.
Sammi: And he goes, like, I was making a reference and he looked at me and i was like, what are you talking about? And i was like, you don't know about, like, the most famous thing about Fabio?
Steve: Oh yeah, that's the most famous thing about Fabio.
Sammi: He was on a roller coaster and he hit like a goose hit him in the face.
Steve: Yeah, it was like a big white bird.
Sammi: He did not have a bloody face, but yeah.
Steve: It like exploded on his face. It was awesome.
Sammi: Yeah, it's wild. But I was just like, I was like, but his hair was like blown out. was like, yeah, it's like Fabio. He got off the roller coaster. And he was like, are you talking about?
Steve: Oh my God. Apparently
Sammi: And I was like, I thought everyone in the world knew about this, but apparently they don't.
Steve: not.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah.
Steve: Amazing.
Sammi: So anyway, um but yeah, I yeah, I feel like I were I enjoy compliments a lot. And I really like giving compliments to not just you look like Fabio.
Sammi: But, you know, it's like, yeah, because like he just got a new shirt the other day and I was like, that a new shirt? really like It looks really, really nice on you. You know, or like, oh, I i love those glasses, like whatever.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And like, yeah, like it's just I mean, I know some people have like a hard time taking compliments like they'll get uncomfortable with it. But to just be like, you're giving me too many compliments like.
Sammi: It very much feels like like I had a high school boyfriend who was kind of like that, who wanted to just like control all of my actions.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: And I didn't know any better because this was like first boyfriend situation or like first serious boyfriend, I guess. You know, so it was like he'd be like, you you can only hold my hand in these scenarios.
Sammi: Like between these windows, you can hold my hand.
Steve: Which is. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: I'll let you hug me at this time. I'll let you, you know, and I was like, oh, okay, like, I didn't know that that was, like, fucked up, but that's what he's doing to Parisa, and I'm like, that's so bad. Like, she just should be able, she's, like, so, like, free and weird and fun and sweet, and with him, it's just, like, she becomes more two-dimensional, and it's really upsetting.
Sammi: I just don't like it at all.
Steve: It's quite strange. i don't I don't understand it.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah.
Steve: It's it's weird. And yeah, I feel bad for her because like she's not doing anything wrong. And I don't know if this is like his way to set up like ah like a breakup or like Hedges' bets or whatever, but it's really it's pretty scummy.
Steve: I don't know.
Sammi: Yeah. Like, well, I mean, and he's been consistent since day one being like, I'm just here to kiss a bunch of people, you know, and it's like, well, then maybe go on a different show.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: um
Steve: Also, he just sucked.
Sammi: But yeah. Yeah. Yeah, no, I never liked him and I gave him like the tiniest chance to be different. And then I was like, no, was right about you. You suck. um And yeah, and there's like this whole thing.
Sammi: So he's rooming with Jeremy, right? I mean, I'm assuming because they're always like getting ready at the same time and stuff.
Steve: Hmm.
Sammi: And so they're getting ready for this Bird of Paradise party. And like Jeremy, again, is talking about Susie. Like and I mean, he has said some things like I haven't really read the full context of things, but I know that Bailey is defending him a little bit, which makes me go, oh, no. um
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And he is also like, well, they, you know, the edit kind of sucks. And, you know, like they're being kind of misleading with the cuts and whatever.
Sammi: But it's like also... You having a temper tantrum and be like, you need to call Susie right now. Like you did that. Okay. They didn't like create that out of nothing, you know, and, and that, you know, that you shouldn't be saying something and you're like, I want, I don't want to say this with the mics on and they catch you within a hot mic moment.
Sammi: Like, again, like you didn't have to say that you didn't have to say that with a mic on your body. And you did. You know what i mean? So it's like, yes, but also um you keep saying things like, oh, I really want to like hang out with Susie more.
Sammi: You know, Susie's on everyone's mind.
Steve: Yeah. Apparently. She's living red free in Puerto Rico.
Sammi: Susie lives rent free and everyone's mind.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: She's busy.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: Okay. um Her feet are tired. um So, yeah. So that was just kind of shitty. And then and then we go into this party and Alicia's kind of the new the new young girl, you know, on the block. And and she's coming in ah full bird makeup.
Sammi: So, like, the first thing they... Isn't this the first moment that she comes in for the Bird of Paradise party? Like,
Steve: Yeah, yeah.
Sammi: And so she's coming in and she's like, hi, everybody. And this is how I meet all of you in bird regalia. um And um oh, and at the same time, too, there's the cacao ceremony going on. I can't not mention that.
Sammi: um So Gary is the hot commodity in the goldens. And I mean, i think it's partially because I mean, he's really sweet. He's also partially because he has like a really nice voice and intense eye contact.
Sammi: So why wouldn't you hang out with him? And, um, so Nancy is, you know, comes in and she's like, do you want to go to this cacao ceremony with me? And he's like, okay.
Sammi: And this is one of those things that I have, um, a decent amount of knowledge about because of this weird niche group I followed on the internet for a while, who was really into a bunch of woo stuff, including cacao ceremonies.
Sammi: It was all white people in like Boulder, Colorado, you know, doing this shit, you know what saying?
Steve: ah Yeah.
Sammi: Um, and they'd
Steve: Side of ayahuasca with that, maybe.
Sammi: Yeah, they'd go to Burning Man. They'd have um ah group situations. um We'll just say that.
Steve: stop Stop going in the desert and lighting shit on fire to do drugs. like Just do drugs at home. It's a lot cheaper.
Sammi: You know, it's like, so I have like a familiarity with the these types of things in circles. This was a very different feeling because it's like in Costa Rica, it feels a little more like, I don't know, not as whitewashed, I guess, for lack of a better term.
Steve: who
Sammi: But it's funny because, yeah, it's there's no drugs in it or anything, but they edited it.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: So they're like, whoa, man. Yeah. And they're like, I feel great. But I do love the disclaimer where she was like, if you feel like you need to ah engage in penetration, ah don't.
Sammi: I was like, okay, okay.
Steve: Don't ah' penetrate anything.
Sammi: So you're going feel a little amorous after this, you know?
Steve: Nothing.
Sammi: um So, so they're on this like trippy thing. And then meanwhile, everyone's dressed up in bird costumes, you know, and hanging out and doing these dances and stuff.
Sammi: And yeah, like Parisa's like, okay, I want this VIP suite, Brian. So like, you really got to bring it. And that's the thing. It's like, she should be with a guy who's like, yes, like I'm going to go like, I mean, he wants to win because he's like competitive, but it's not like he's like, yeah, like let's choreograph this whole thing and like you'll do this and I'll do this.
Steve: Brian brings nothing.
Steve: No.
Sammi: And like she needs somebody who's got that. Like, do you want to go play mermaids energy? and he does not want to go play mermaids. OK, and that sucks for for her and for us.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um So they do end up winning. And oh, and in all of this time, like Dale is talking to Alicia. So he's like, I'm so like, you're a priority to me, Kat.
Sammi: Oh, who's this new bird? I'm going to go over and talk to her and strap my stuff and show her my feathers, you know?
Steve: pretty
Steve: Yeah, yeah
Sammi: And um and but now Alicia is also like, oh, well, maybe Sean, though. Hmm. You know, maybe Sean and Jill What did she say? So she said something like ah Sean wouldn't care if I died or something like that.
Sammi: Thank you. She says something like that.
Steve: well yeah.
Sammi: Because, yeah, at this point, Jill is still here. She's doing the bird stuff. But she's like, Sean has no clue I even exist right now.
Steve: Just hanging out a solo bird.
Steve: not a thing.
Sammi: It's just like it's not even a thing, you know.
Steve: not a thing
Sammi: And so she's just like, OK, well, yeah. And so Alicia leaning towards Sean, it's like, well, that would make fewer waves. um she the Her hesitation.
Sammi: It was funny because she was like, it's really early in the game. And then like a minute later, she was like, Well, people are pretty locked down and it's fairly late in the game. was like a day later. um But, you know, she was hesitant because Sean reminded her of her ex.
Sammi: That was one thing that she said.
Steve: Oh.
Sammi: She's like, he just he's like a lot of men that I've dated. So it's like this is kind of comfort zone. But do I really want to get into this again? Maybe I shouldn't judge him. Whatever.
Sammi: I mean, they're both very pretty. I'll see how that goes. ah They don't really know each other at all. But um and then, yeah, here's the thing.
Steve: No.
Sammi: OK, so then we get to the end of this. Yeah. Parisa and Brian win. um Oh, yeah. I also wrote, I would say Jill for Bachelorette, but she's way too cool. um I mean, they did it with Katie, so maybe they do it with Jill. But ah I'm just so worried about Katie these days. I don't know if you've been yeah keeping up with her, but.
Steve: No, what's she up to?
Sammi: Well, she's got stage four cancer.
Steve: Fuck.
Sammi: You didn't know that.
Steve: That's not something I want her to be up to.
Sammi: No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to didn't mean to laugh.
Steve: Shit.
Sammi: That was like an uncomfortable reaction.
Steve: No, yeah.
Sammi: um
Steve: Ah, sorry.
Sammi: I thought, you know, I thought we talked about this on the podcast before that she had cancer.
Steve: Well, I think we talked to her being like sick or whatever, but I didn't know it was like, like that.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Fuck.
Sammi: Yeah. Stage four. Yeah. She has stage four breast cancer. Yeah.
Steve: Jesus Christ.
Sammi: Yeah. yeah I know. And it's just it's awful. um It's just awful. I hope. I mean, she's fairly optimistic, but she's a pretty optimistic person, you know,
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um But she has been posting a lot about like self exams and, you know, like early detection and things like that. She's really trying to use what's happening with her to try to help other, you know, other people. But it's really it's rough.
Sammi: It's really rough. Yeah. But she's going through, I can't remember what the name of the treatment is. It's a different, it's, it's an, all it's not chemo because of the type of cancer she has.
Sammi: There's like another type of like, it's like a hormone based treatment or something like that.
Steve: Oh.
Sammi: That's supposed to be more effective for the type of cancer that she has. Anyway, you can learn more about that.
Steve: Well, shit.
Sammi: But um yeah, she's going through those like rounds of treatment right now. So, but yeah, anyway, um sorry, didn't mean to bring down the pot.
Steve: Yeah, wow.
Sammi: Sorry. But yeah, everybody sun good.
Steve: It's my fault for not fucking knowing. I would have taken it a little more somber.
Sammi: Yeah. Send good thoughts to Katie.
Steve: Jesus.
Sammi: Send good thoughts to Katie. She's, you know, she's the best. um She's like one of the one of the best to ever do it.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: You know, one of the best to to ever to ever be bachelorette, in my opinion. So one of the greats. I just hope she does better. Oh, my gosh. Wait, this is interesting.
Sammi: Whoa. What the hell? OK, hold on.
Steve: What are you looking at?
Sammi: And three hours ago, she she clapped back at somebody amazing. She's like, I'm not going to let stage four cancer keep me from putting you in your fucking place.
Sammi: So apparently, OK, she posted like a wedding, a wedding post with her and her husband. By the way, her husband seems like a really cool guy, like really cool, really sweet.
Steve: That's good.
Sammi: She's really happy, just like. Um, she found a person. So it's like, well, I hope you, I want you to have many, many years with this person. So I hope, you know, this, this does well, but yeah.
Sammi: So anyways, she posted something. Um, she said, okay, I'll, I'll put this in the show notes. Uh, she said this from soap central. She goes, remember this guy from my season, me either, but he's still here lurking on my page. Um,
Sammi: Um, uh, cause apparently like she posted like all her wedding stuff and whatever. And, um, and, uh, someone called her like, or someone who was on her season said like a couple of solid fives, like that, like the two of them were fives, you know, her and her husband.
Sammi: And yeah. So she said, thanks for being a fan.
Steve: we even fucking bothers to do that?
Sammi: yeah
Steve: What a weirdo.
Sammi: Yeah. Cody Mank. I don't remember him either. See? Yeah. But love that she goes, yeah, remember this guy? at Me either.
Sammi: Like, you're ah you're you're trying to offend... A former bachelorette who is a stand up comedian and has stage four cancer. You think she's going to hold back on you?
Sammi: No, you you absolute loser clown.
Steve: Yeah, I don't think she gives a shit at this point.
Sammi: um But she did say also recently that, yeah, she is. she's optimistic. um Yeah, she was on Caitlin Bristow's podcast like a week or so ago.
Steve: Okay.
Sammi: um And she said yeah ah she she said, yeah, technically it's not curable and she will technically have breast cancer forever, but she can like manage it and keep it, you know, at a low level.
Steve: Oh my God.
Sammi: So that's kind of scary. So
Steve: That's horrifying. Yeah. Jesus.
Sammi: Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. But, um, yeah. Uh, yeah. It's not fair. Uh, anyway. Okay. Moving on. I'm going to try to, how do i transition out of this? I do not know.
Sammi: Um, but I'm going to try.
Steve: the
Sammi: Sorry.
Steve: Brian sucks.
Sammi: Um,
Steve: There we go.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Got it.
Sammi: Yeah. but
Steve: We're back.
Sammi: But anyway, yeah, Katie, we we love you and support you. um And we hate Brian so much. And he sucks. So, yeah. So Parisa. Anyway, Parisa is another great, fun person. and She's not necessarily like bachelorette status, you know, like I think Jill's got the bachelorette. I mean, we've been surprised before, you know.
Steve: Hmm.
Sammi: We were like, who's we don't even know anything about charity. And then she was like the best bachelorette to ever bachelorette. So you just never know.
Steve: Hmm. Hmm.
Sammi: But um but Preece is like, you know, she's like a yeah, funky, fun girl. They win this VIP suite. And then um she's like asking like kind of silly questions, which would have helped them in the game next week.
Sammi: You know, if you think about it. So she was just asking goofy questions like, what's your favorite color? First of all, it's like, what harm is it in answering that question?
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Just answer the damn question. Okay. She's just asking a goofy little question for the cameras before you, you know, do whatever, you know, he's like, I want to flock.
Sammi: I want to flock. And she's like, I'm just trying to be cute. You know, and he's like, I don't want be cute. I just want flock. And it's like, maybe she's like trying to think about, I don't know, a more well-rounded image that she wants to craft on the show.
Sammi: And he's just like, and that's the thing, you know, it's like, and I did not like that Zoe called her cheap, basically, you know, that was really not cool.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But I do think Brian has that effect of cheapening people, making them look that way.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: um And she has so much more to offer than that.
Steve: Dragging folks down.
Sammi: Yeah, it's just awful. Yeah, he's like, come down to my basement level. You know, um I don't have any windows in my apartment type of a guy.
Steve: ha ha ha ha.
Sammi: And yeah, so there's that. And then Dale is like, oh, well, I want to talk to Alicia. this is ah like this is just men are trash ah hour. And he's like, i want to talk to Alicia because I want to make cats sweat.
Sammi: And it's just like, but why?
Steve: why why there's no reason don't be a dick man
Sammi: why That's just exhausting. Don't be like that. That's so weird. Like the, the, you know, the day I realized that like games do not have to ever be played like that.
Steve: no it's just exhausting
Sammi: And in fact, they're unhealthy was the day I, you know, had a better day. ah
Steve: or
Sammi: But yeah, it's just like it's just awful. So um but Alicia is like also trying to again talk to Sean. But this is when she said he's a copy paste of her ex. So she's like, i don't know.
Sammi: I'm not sure.
Steve: so
Sammi: Um, and then i think this was the next day, right? Oh yeah, this is what happened. Okay. So then we get to the next day and Kim, um, is having like heart stuff.
Sammi: Like he's worried about, you know, that it could be a more serious issue. He's got like chest tightness and things like that. I think high, high blood pressure,
Steve: Yeah, not good when you're old and on the beach.
Sammi: um Right. So he's like, I better go in for this. And so Faith, who, you know, he was excited about, like, was like, well, I got to go on this date.
Sammi: So she goes to Kathy and she's like, do you want to go riding with me? Which I actually thought was really cute that she was like, do you want to go riding with me?
Steve: Oh,
Sammi: I know you've always wanted to do it. And like, then the date won't go to waste or whatever. But then Kim comes back and he's like, oh, I wanted to go to the beach with Faith. I wanted to go, um you know, ride horses with her and stuff.
Steve: oh
Sammi: um So that was kind of sad. But they did have a cute little hang. And that was that was sweet. um We also see the next day Dale is still entertaining Alicia.
Sammi: um and this was the wildest part is that Alicia's talking to Kat about like what she should do. That was that was wild. That was wild.
Sammi: I was like, oh God, that would make my tummy hurt if someone did that to me.
Steve: Yeah.
Steve: No, yeah.
Sammi: What do you think? Yeah, you're really interested in this guy. What should I do? It's like, um but Kat was like, she played it pretty slick. I got to say she was like, well, you know, like, what do you think? Oh, Sean. Yeah. OK.
Sammi: And then she's like, well, I don't know about Dale. And she's like, I don't know about that one. You know, she's pretty good.
Steve: and i want to Yeah, Yeah.
Sammi: She she wasn't like back off, but she was like, I don't know. do you think that's a good choice?
Steve: i would I would also, I mean, she asked me, I'd probably say, yeah, I don't know about that one either. That's stay away from him.
Sammi: Yeah, I don't know about that one. Not sure. But she did pick Sean, you know, so she was smart enough. And then that was kind of the I think that was the end of that episode. And then we get into week six, episode six, whatever you want to call it, because it's like only been ah little over a week at this point.
Steve: It's
Sammi: Why haven't all these people found absolute love? What's going on?
Steve: crazy. What's going on here?
Sammi: Um, but yeah, Kim and Faith, this is when you start to see their connection. Like he was disappointed about the horseback riding thing, but then they get to talking and it's like, oh yeah, like maybe there's actually something here because, and Faith was like, I just don't really think any, any of these men are men I want to go for.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: And then she's like, okay, now I'm kind of pleasantly surprised. And they both like live in the same area.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Like they're both in Washington Yeah. So they they got that Pacific Northwest a bond going, I guess. Trees and whatnot. I'm not sure.
Steve: That's reason why...
Sammi: i don't know.
Steve: Let's go hiking in mossy, damp woods.
Sammi: and Right. That's yeah. It's like I can smell it. ah So um and then, yeah. OK, we have there's there's this rose ceremony that's coming up like pretty early in the episode. and And you can kind of see where people are are coupling up.
Sammi: And it's like, OK, it's going to be the end of the road for a lot of people. including April. and But you know what? Here's the deal. She's going to be fine no matter what. okay I know that she gets... she First of all, she has game.
Sammi: and i She can get any guy she wants like in and out of paradise. so She's going to be just fine. But boy, is she fun to watch on the beach. It is sad to see her go. Like...
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: one of my favorite people on the beach this year for sure. um And then, okay. Yeah. Then this is the upbringing. She, she, again, like Kat is talking to Dale about this upbringing comment right before the rose ceremony.
Sammi: um But this is when the men have the power, right? So it's like, oh things could happen up in the air who's to say there's not a lot of roses to go around but there wasn't really anything all that surprising that happened at this rose ceremony because we've got brian and parisa andrew and alex which we didn't see a lot of them in this last episode um jeremy and bailey again didn't see well we saw like the jeremy stuff we didn't see a lot of them spencer and jess we like never see them
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: It's just like, whatever. They're over there.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: They're having a good time. Blah, blah, blah. um Dale and Kat, Sean and Alicia, Jonathan and Leah, Keith and Kathy, Kim and Faith, and then Big G. Oh, I'm sorry, Gary.
Sammi: I'm sorry, Big G. ah
Steve: but
Sammi: um I like that they turned turned it into Big L when he lost on the game ah and Leslie.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: So then, yeah. So that meant that April left and Natasha left and who else left? um Those were like the big ones that I wrote down.
Sammi: Who else left?
Steve: oh um
Sammi: Oh, well, Nancy.
Steve: Yeah, Nancy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sammi: Nancy left. um Yeah. And Leslie, I said. Yeah. So that was pretty. no. Leslie's still there. Sorry. um Leslie's there.
Steve: Oh, yeah, she's with Kim.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. Leslie's with Gary.
Steve: Gary, yeah.
Sammi: Kim and Faith.
Steve: Kim and Faith, there we go.
Sammi: Heath and Kathy. Yeah.
Steve: I'm getting my ladies mixed up.
Sammi: Because there was a little bit of who's with who and whatever.
Steve: I'm sorry.
Sammi: But yeah. So but yeah, April, like, oh, my God, I cried. I was on my treadmill and I started crying because April was just like, she's like, I came here to find love.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And I and I was like, oh, my God. And she's like, and I found it. And I'm so loved. And I was like, because they all like, like surrounded her and like the world's biggest hug.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And I was like, fuck, why am I crying?
Steve: Well, it's just everything is so weird, like ah especially because of the mix up with Jonathan and everything. And so now there's what is there? There's like five women left on the beach and there's three men.
Steve: Is that right? Like, what do you what do you do with that? Like.
Sammi: Well, no, this is where it's even. i mean, after after the rose ceremony.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But that was the other thing people complained about is there were so many more departures.
Steve: Mm hmm.
Sammi: Like, there there were fewer people on the beach to begin with.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: And then there were like...
Steve: Way more people leaving.
Sammi: three of you are going home four of you are going home and it's like that's it's usually like two of you are going home it's not usually like when it gets to like four and then the thing that kind of did fuck up especially the goldens was that april picked jonathan although i'm not taking her to task for that i thought that was a fun choice yeah it's not her fault it's not her fault that they don't have enough math like yeah
Steve: here Yeah.
Steve: No, i think it's fine. It's totally fine. And it's also, it's fun. It's a good swerve.
Steve: Yeah, but it's just like all the ratios are fucked up, but then also the entire second half of the season, like, in order for it to work, you're supposed to have these couples.
Sammi: Enough couples that are solid.
Steve: Yeah, yeah.
Sammi: Yeah. So that's the thing. It's like we really only have. I mean, it's like Alex and Andrew get along really well, but they haven't been together that long. So who's to say that that's going to last?
Steve: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Sammi: Hard to say.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Spencer and Jess are the only ones that have been together since the very beginning.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Kat and Dale kind of. Right.
Steve: Well, yeah.
Sammi: I mean, they were close.
Steve: and And the other side of this, too, is ah because this is a new format and they sort of like introduce it as a swerve surprise thing.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: There's no like there was no strategic coupling. You know what i mean? Like there there could have been a world where.
Sammi: Right.
Steve: Jonathan and Jill go on a date and they have fun, but he's like, you know, I don't know, whatever. But if they know that in another day or two that they're going to have this opportunity to win a bunch of money, you could say, well, fuck it.
Steve: Let's be, you know, paradise buddies.
Sammi: Right. But I think they did spring it on them on purpose because they're like doing this whole thing like, well, is it for love or is it for money?
Steve: Mm hmm.
Sammi: So I think it's like they want them to be there for love. Right. Like that's the idea.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: So they didn't want to spoil it, although they did have like a little hint. Right. In one of the games, like I stole but half a million dollars, mobileh blah, blah, blah.
Steve: the
Sammi: But we've seen that in other paradise seasons where people do say, well, you want to stay on the beach? I want to stay on the beach. We're having fun. I mean, April even gave that to Jonathan.
Steve: Do you think it's going to be like a traitor situation too, where they get to the end and the winning couple, it's just like, okay, well you guys can split it between the two of you or yeah.
Sammi: Yes.
Steve: So they're just going to traders it.
Sammi: Yes. Hundred percent.
Steve: Okay. Yeah.
Sammi: Hundred percent. They're going to do it where it's like we got to talk about that show at some point, too.
Steve: the
Sammi: I've been. Here's the deal. So I'm going to be out of commission ah very soon for like a couple weeks and I won't be able to do much of anything um because I'm getting the old Bravo special ah because I have a deviated septum. No, I have a real deviated septum.
Sammi: It's not a rhinoplasty.
Steve: the The old Bravo special.
Sammi: They'll be like, I did deviated septum. you're like, you change your entire face. What you talking about? um No, but it's an inside job. Like you shouldn't see much, but I won't be able to do much for like a couple weeks.
Sammi: um So I'm hoping to catch up on a lot of reality TV. That is my goal. That is my one and only goal is like reality TV.
Steve: here So you won't be able to do the the podcast in like a Phantom of the Opera mask? Is that like not...
Sammi: Well, I mean, we'll see. We'll see.
Steve: Do you own a cape? You probably own multiple capes, don't you?
Sammi: I don't own a cape, but I'm married to someone who owns a cape.
Steve: that's It's a marital asset. That counts.
Sammi: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just like he owns more spandex than I do, technically. so
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And we have about the same number of wigs.
Steve: You make him sound like a pro wrestler, by the way. That's.
Sammi: Well, have you met him?
Steve: Yeah, that's true.
Sammi: That's like pretty accurate. Well, okay, I shouldn't be telling this on the podcast. This an exclusive. He'll never hear it, so he'll never know.
Steve: Exclusive.
Sammi: Okay, there is a there is a a character. ah There's a a figure who comes to bowling alleys. And for some reason, Tuck can never make it.
Sammi: I don't know why he can't make it there. But sometimes when you go to a bowling alley, you'll meet this person, this being named Kegler. ah And Kegler has a full get up and a cape and everything um and like a bowling ball and a chain and all kinds of stuff.
Sammi: um Yeah. And for some reason, some of his gear lives at our house. But Tuck has never met him.
Steve: Wow.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: That's amazing.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: I'm going to the wrong bowling alleys.
Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. Kegler apparently just made an appearance not too long ago. So yeah, I'm just telling you.
Steve: Wow.
Sammi: hu
Steve: Wow.
Sammi: You didn't know about this. Okay.
Steve: Now, can I book him for my next birthday party?
Sammi: Yeah. He, yeah, yeah. Kegler makes appearances.
Steve: Oh, that's weddings, funerals, birthdays, brah mitzvahs.
Sammi: Kegler can be bought. Um, Yeah. Like, again, Tuck hasn't met him, but I can arrange it.
Steve: Love it.
Steve: Okay, that's good to know.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: Hmm.
Sammi: Yeah. They're just never in the same place at the same time. They just keep missing each other like ships passing in the night. Anyway, so this is like when I started dating him and we went to like a punk themed play.
Sammi: And my mom met him. My parents met him. And I was like, what do you think? And she was like, I honestly do not know. Because I can't really tell. and I was like, well, this isn't like that far off from just like what we do normally.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Just like dress up for no reason sometimes. And then she met him again. And he like decided to dress up a little bit for like a Packer game.
Steve: So he's just wearing like a cheese head?
Sammi: i don't. He was just wearing... I don't remember what he was wearing, but he was wearing things different from how he would... Like, he wore, like, his spiked gauntlets or some shit like that to the bar.
Steve: he
Sammi: And im mom was like, again, i just don't know.
Steve: dressed normal? Yeah.
Sammi: I'm just not sure. And i was like, well, again, this is just kind of another version of what you might get.
Steve: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: i don't know what to tell you.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: So the fun never stops in this house. We've already started planning our Halloween costumes. They're going to be good. I'm excited about this year. OK, anyway, so yeah.
Sammi: So that's why I think they wouldn't didn't reveal it, because I think the idea is They want it to be for love. And I think, yeah, it's going to be just like, well, what's the name of that in game theory? It has a name where it's like, you know what I'm talking about? where And they did it in the dark night too, right? where So it's like you you can either, there's a pile of money.
Sammi: You can either split it or if one of you chooses to take it and the other one doesn't, then you get all the money. If you both decide to take it, then you don't get anything, right? What is that called in game theory?
Steve: I don't know what the specific name is. I just call it the traitors thing because that's what they do in
Sammi: oh
Sammi: Let me see if I can find what it's called. It has a name. Oh, I think it okay it's just called an ultimate an ultimatum game. Yeah. So yeah, it's how they decide how to split a sum of money.
Sammi: and yeah And yeah. So it's like it's in your best interest always to say that you're going to split it. um
Steve: Well, as a staunch socialist, I will always split the money. So well, now, now someone is going to go on a reality show with me and screw me over because I said that.
Sammi: Me too. Yeah.
Sammi: Yeah, no. Well, here, for the record, if we ever, we would make a really good team on a reality show.
Steve: i think so.
Sammi: But for the record, if we ever had to partner up on a game show, reality show, whatever, I 100% would split the money with you.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I'm not cutthroat like that.
Steve: Yes. Same, same. but
Sammi: Yeah, okay.
Steve: If there's ever a competitive reality show that specifically gets podcasters who talk about reality shows, we're available and we're going to win.
Sammi: So.
Sammi: We're in.
Steve: And then we're going to split the fucking money.
Sammi: We're in. Okay. I didn't make it on the reality show that I auditioned for. So I am still due to be on one. um I was not nerdy enough. In fact, ah that's what they told me.
Steve: Hmm.
Sammi: So, okay. ah Anyway, so yeah. Rose ceremony. Okay. Natasha. Okay. Yeah. And Natasha just kind of, I don't know. She just didn't really get anybody that good. It seemed like she was mostly interested in Gary and Gary was so popular that I was just like,
Sammi: I don't know. But I still, what was that guy's name? CJ? What was his name? The guy who was just like, yeah, had those companions for the you know the summer.
Steve: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sammi: Was that his name?
Steve: That guy. Oh, yeah. And he was just RJ.
Sammi: RJ, RJ, RJ.
Steve: Yeah, he's like, just went poly mode for a summer.
Sammi: Sorry, not CJ, RJ.
Steve: I was like, okay. Yeah.
Sammi: ah Yeah. And like they seemed to vibe pretty well, but I don't know. There was something that didn't work for Natasha with him. But I was like, he's so promising. We did not see enough of him. I have so many questions for RJ still.
Sammi: um But she's like, but she's kind of like life coachy. Right. So she was like, it's a growth opportunity. Being here was a growth opportunity.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I'm like, I guess you can look at it that way. um but now yeah so now jesse's like okay this is when everything changes everything you knew about this game is different and he's like it's like bachelor pad but more remember that show that didn't work as well well we're bringing it back for some reason what did they win on bachelor pad was 250 000 something like that or what was it
Steve: Yeah. We're bringing it back, baby. or what Yeah, wasn't it wasn't as much. I know that. There
Sammi: Yeah. Winning money bachelor pad. I need to look. I really would like to. Yeah. $250,000. Yeah.
Steve: you go.
Sammi: And it was, again, they could keep it or share. I remember they did the whole thing. Remember they chose keep or share. And then um if one picked keep, then they kept it and the other picture, they wouldn't lose it. But yeah, I wouldn't make myself look that bad.
Sammi: So, Um, so everything's going to change from here on out and now we're going to the relationship test. So this was the thing that's interesting is they all decided to do the same thing the next day.
Sammi: They're like, let's ask each other as many questions as possible and conduct these as interviews.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And, you know, it's like, what's your middle name? Okay. How many siblings do you have? Um, where did you grow up? Okay. What's your favorite food? Whatever, you know, and they're, they were just doing all these quizzes, but this was kind of an interesting game where it was like high, high, low, you know? So, um we're going to ask you a question. we're going to give you a number and you have to guess whether it's higher or lower than that number.
Sammi: Some of them seemed pretty obvious, but I do think some of the ranges were tough. Like that $350 one for gifts. I'm like, that is it.
Steve: Yeah, that's weird.
Sammi: Like, I think Jeremy said that was a tough number. I'm like, I agree. That's a tough number.
Steve: Yeah, that's that's an odd one.
Sammi: Above or below $350. Yeah. I was like, I don't know.
Steve: What also is just like, what's your financial situation? Like, I don't know.
Sammi: Right.
Steve: Like at this stage of my life, sure, but 10 years ago?
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: No, I don't know.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: $350 in this
Sammi: I mean, we, well, mom, when you're listening to this, don't,
Sammi: Mom, don't take offense to this when you listen to this, but my parents have given me for my birthday and Christmas in my entire adult life. It has never changed with inflation. I get $300. get $300. like get three hundred dollars
Steve: So that was like, that was sick. Like when you were five.
Sammi: when i was little ah When I was younger, I was like, 300 bucks.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: And I'm like, okay, thanks. um It's still nice.
Steve: It's nice.
Sammi: It's $300 I didn't have before.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And I usually...
Steve: Nobody's, nobody's turning their nose up at $300. Yeah.
Sammi: no. no And I always cash it in. i always cash it in for like you know specific clothing. There are certain things that I like that do happen to be around the $300 range that I have a hard time rationalizing spending on myself. So like clothing or like a book subscription or whatever.
Sammi: So very much appreciate it. But I just think it's funny that they have kept it exactly the same my entire adult life.
Steve: Also, I want all the podcast listeners to know that Sammy's lying.
Sammi: And yeah.
Steve: She takes the $300 and ever since she was a child, she immediately just buys five cartons of cigarettes. That's it.
Sammi: That's exactly what I do. Yes. um No, it's just so funny. Like, ah yeah, well, anyway, and i've I've dated and been married to people whose parents give them like ah exorbitant amounts of money. And I was like, I was like, I'm sorry. What?
Sammi: You're an adult. Why? Why do they need to give you that much?
Steve: Yeah, I shouldn't give you that much.
Sammi: Are you not doing well?
Steve: Are you okay? well
Sammi: Yeah. Well, how's your situation? Why are they giving you like over a thousand dollars for Christmas? Like, holy crap. I didn't know that that existed.
Steve: That's a lot of money.
Sammi: Like, I was very like, what?
Steve: Wow.
Sammi: And then like family members, it's like we're exchanging like thirty dollars, you know, things back and forth. And I was I thought that was pretty normal. And then. It's like, oh, God, there was somebody.
Sammi: Let's see if I can find this tick tock. There was some tick tock that I found where they're like, it's so weird because when you get married, it's like you become a board member of a company like you just step into becoming a board member for a company and they're running it so wrong and so different.
Steve: It's pretty much a...
Sammi: And you're just like, why are you operating like that?
Steve: a
Sammi: That's not efficient. That's not the smart way to do that. Why is everybody doing this? and And they all seem to be fine with it. And you're like, this needs so many structural changes. Who do I bring this to, though? And they all feel that way.
Sammi: And I was like, that's so true.
Steve: pretty much a
Sammi: Like you get married and you go into this world and you're just like, wait, everybody here thinks like this. So strange.
Sammi: I'm like, wait, you didn't grow up watching movies or playing board games? And he's like, no I'm like, what did you do?
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: and he's like, chores, you know, like and planning menus.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: It's like you walk into their house and it's like, oh, I need you to hang this thing up. Can you build a chair for me? And you're like, I just got here.
Steve: God. Some of us are watching Ninja Turtles.
Sammi: Yeah. And it's like, when like you know, for me, it's like, oh, eat, drink immediately.
Steve: That's like...
Sammi: And there's something on TV and you can go play game upstairs or whatever.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: You know what I mean?
Steve: I was like, my, my boss at work, like that we have these like weekly meetings and they always have like an icebreaker.
Sammi: Like, it was like that. So strange.
Steve: And one the icebreaker questions like, what was your favorite, like fun sugar cereal as a kid or whatever. So it was just like, Oh, set up a toast crunch, cocoa puffs, fruit loops, whatever.
Steve: And my boss is just like, I wasn't allowed to have sugar cereal as a kid. So I've never had any. I'm like, what did you eat as a child? Gruel? What did you have for breakfast?
Sammi: Well, I also I also wasn't really allowed to have sugary cereals, but I could have some.
Steve: what What were you eating?
Sammi: ah But I had to I learned how to read those labels. yeah I could get honey bunches of oats and sometimes frosted miniweeds.
Steve: but It's an okay cereal. That's an okay cereal.
Sammi: Frosted miniweeds also very good, I think.
Steve: Yeah. But like, but, but I, I get, I get when you're older.
Sammi: um Yeah. But I also ate. I had Lucky Charms like like I buy it every once in a while if I'm like, you know what?
Steve: Yeah. It's like,
Sammi: I'm an adult with adult money and I can go buy this if I want to.
Steve: well, and see, and I, and I always like my immediate thought was like, I get all resentful. Like, what did you have parents who were like present and available? Was your mother making you scrambled eggs every morning? Like what's going on?
Sammi: Well, yeah. Yeah, that's true. My dad. Well, I was just thinking about this the other day because we at the Nerd Cabaret, I was like, I have a very distinct memory of like when I was a kid in like middle school, I'd wake up earlier than I needed to to watch Pokemon and I'd have like my comforter still and I'd be like laying on the couch with my comforter and my dad would bring me peanut butter toast and it was good times.
Steve: See, that's nice.
Sammi: Yeah, it was nice. Gotta catch them all. No one sang the Pokemon theme song at the Nerd Cabaret, and that was a miss.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um But anyway, so basically most of the couples did fairly decent, and then the ones who did bad did really bad.
Steve: v
Sammi: um And basically if you were in the bottom three, This is an interesting twist, too. I thought this was interesting. The couples were who are in the bottom three did not get any roses.
Sammi: And the woman who was the winner, because it was the women's week to choose, decides which two other women get roses to keep their around.
Sammi: So... their men are around
Steve: Yeah, and this is good too because Gary firmly establishes himself as the dumbest man alive.
Sammi: so
Sammi: I was just like, I love that Sean was like, what are you doing?
Steve: You
Sammi: It doesn't matter. All you got to you're not going to win. So you just put one down on either one.
Steve: just got one.
Sammi: You got a 50-50 chance and you stay in the middle and you're not on the chopping block.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: Like literally all you have to do for the next like couple rounds is coast. You just got to stay in the middle.
Steve: Yep.
Sammi: Nothing bad is going to happen. I swear. So yeah, bad strategy. Really bad strategy.
Steve: It's just not even strategy.
Sammi: Jeremy.
Steve: He's like, I didn't think about It's like, no, you didn't, Gary, because you've been riding high on the fumes of being the golden gigolo of Bachelor Beach, all the women pining after you.
Sammi: yeah
Sammi: Yeah. And he's like, yeah, mad action. I'm going to more than four times a week or whatever. And Leslie was like, no.
Steve: oh
Sammi: The hell? Uh, yeah. And he lost it all for that. Bad idea. Bad idea. Um, and yeah, like Jeremy also definitely took a chance, but I do feel like he, well, he did say he just guessed.
Sammi: So that was bold.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Um, that was really bold that he bet it all on that again. So we would have been probably cursing Jeremy the same had he gotten it wrong.
Steve: yeah
Sammi: um But he ended up winning. And then, um yeah, and then let's see who else. Yeah. And then Parisa and Brian, they also did real shitty.
Sammi: So they were in the bottom three. So we had, yeah, Gary and Leslie, Parisa and um Brian and then Kim and Faith because they just didn't really get a lot of time to talk.
Sammi: So it's like not surprising that they were in the bottom.
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: don't think that says anything about them. They just really don't know anything about each other. So why would they be in the top? um So then, okay, we get into after the dust settles a little bit, we're getting into some of these conversations about like, where is this going? What are we doing? What's the strategy? What's the plan?
Sammi: um How are people actually feeling? And Leia is like, well, I think I could be more than friends with Jonathan someday. and then they're like sitting at the bar and Jonathan's like, we're just friends. What are you talking about?
Sammi: Yeah. Who was he talking to? Cat, I think. think he was talking to Cat. And they were they were like, you know, like, well, what's going on? Like, is there more here? And he was like, no, what are you talking about? She's like, what? He's like, didn't I thought I told you. Yeah, we're just friends.
Sammi: She's like, I don't think Leia knows that. So you should probably talk to her about that.
Steve: Let her know.
Sammi: Yeah, not good. He's friendzoning everybody. That's why I'm saying, like, I can see the conspiracy theory, but also...
Steve: Yeah. but Can you friend zone someone would have known them for 48 hours? You want to one date with them? And you're just like, I don't know. Like if I would, if you went on like one date, one, one hinge date with some person and you're just like, and people are like, so what's up with the UN hinge guy?
Sammi: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: Mm-hmm.
Steve: And you'd like, oh like, what do you say to that?
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: but but But we're on bachelor logic.
Sammi: i mean,
Steve: So it's been, it's been two days, but in bachelor world, it's been three weeks.
Sammi: huh
Steve: So.
Sammi: Sometimes I can be a hopeless romantic, but I don't even think I ever was moved that fast. So, yeah, no, no, ah no proverbial U-Hauls or what whatnot.
Steve: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um
Steve: and
Sammi: Yeah, it was just, I don't know. I get it, though. she's But she just said, I think maybe someday it could be more than friends. And he was just like, no. I was like, oof, oof, not good, not good.
Steve: Oof, big oof, yeah.
Sammi: Yeah, that was a little uncomfy.
Steve: Well, you can see it, like, you watch and you're like, oh, you guys are, like, other the fact that like, well, you're attractive, I'm attractive, we both seem to be nice people.
Sammi: Uh-huh.
Steve: Like, there's no spark there between them.
Sammi: Yeah, I i think the best rapport he really had was probably with, I mean, Jill, I think, or Alex.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: i Definitely more.
Steve: Jill's just is great. Like, anybody can along with Jill. Like, that's...
Sammi: That's the thing. It's like, why wouldn't you just hang out with her? I don't know. She seems like really fun.
Steve: Yeah. No, I want a party with Jill. That's the only reason I want to get a certain level of fame is just like a party with Jill.
Sammi: Jill, we want to be friends. Yeah.
Sammi: Yeah, Jill, you seem like so cool. Like, fuck all these men who can't see how cool you are. They're trash. And you're amazing.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: um Speaking of trash, ah biggest red flag, honestly, from Jeremy, but besides all of the... I just wrote in my notes, I can't take Jeremy seriously at all. Just so...
Steve: There's a man who's never used moisturizer in his life.
Sammi: So he so here's the thing that's interesting, right? Bailey holds all the power because it's the women's chance to choose.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: But he's still like schmoozing with everybody and whatever. And he's also kind of like wielding power in a way that is not indicative of the secret that he holds.
Sammi: And well, and that he's not even keeping very well because he's told a lot of the men and maybe some of the women how he feels. I also am confused. And yeah, so I do. I don't know a lot about the inside scoop of this or the editing of this or whatever.
Sammi: But I do think it is weird that no one has said anything to Bailey yet because I feel like he's just been telling everybody who listens that, oh, I'm so interested in Susie. And maybe, you know, you can excuse it away as like, oh, it was early days. It was whatever.
Sammi: But he was also like very, it wasn't just like, oh, I'm disappointed or i wonder what could have happened. Or because I feel like that happens early on in Paradise where people will be like, I didn't get the chance to know this person better.
Steve: That's weird.
Sammi: and they kind of like, you know, for lack of a better term, grieve for a little bit. And then they get over it and then they move on. But this was just like, this was like a different, thing. The vibe was different.
Sammi: It was just like, no, get her on the phone now.
Steve: m weird
Sammi: i was like, whoa.
Steve: Well, because he was like mad because she went on a date after he also went on a date. It's like, you're a dork. It's his best move.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: If he was because he can only choose the conniving villain path, but he's a moron. ah The best move would have been get rid of Brian because he's annoying and I i dislike him quite a bit.
Steve: ah But also he's the one who's kind of dangling this Susie thing over your head because he's you know, he he's made comments in passing before, but Brian's the one where he really had like the conversation with and Brian's a big douche knife. Brian, get him out of there. Okay.
Steve: There's, there's your main source of conflict gone now, long-term. you have to make a decision because if you actually think that something is going to happen with this woman, you're going to pull her aside and be like, listen, you're going to see some things when the show airs, but I want you to know was early on.
Sammi: her
Steve: I was frustrated. That's not how I feel now, but this is what's going to happen. And she'll probably be pissed, but she'll get over it. Or, or if you think that this is all like bachelor smoking mirrors, they got you all gassed up on love juice out there.
Steve: And you know, It's probably not going to last because Lord knows statistically it ain't gonna.
Sammi: yeah
Steve: Then you ride it to the end. You don't say a damn thing and you take the money. That would be the power villain move. Mm hmm.
Sammi: That would be smart. That would be smart. I think that's the I don't know. i've I've just been disappointed with Jeremy in general because I had higher hopes for him. I thought he was better than all this. And it's just like, I don't know.
Sammi: And it's just some of the little side comments. Again, no one can make you say these things, um but maybe somebody encouraged you to be snarky and it's just not playing out well. But when he said like he didn't he doesn't like any of the Goldens, I'm like, go away.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: He's like, they're monologuing too much.
Steve: ah
Sammi: I'm like, that's because they're wise. You should listen to them.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Maybe you've learned something.
Steve: Shut the fuck up, Jeremy. You don't know anything.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: You've always been annoying.
Sammi: Respect your elders. What's your problem?
Steve: And everybody wants to like Jeremy. Everybody's like, oh, he's probably okay. He seems know. No.
Sammi: think that's the problem.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: I think it's just like a little too much nice guy for me. Do you know what I'm saying? And it's just like doesn't work.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: It's I don't know. um And I mean, part of the reason I liked him is because he and Jonathan seem to be buds, but That's not going to get you anywhere anymore. Sorry.
Sammi: And then, yeah, Jonathan's just being avoidant. This is when Brian's like, don't compliment me. I'm like, what the hell is going on with these men?
Steve: Shut up, Brian.
Sammi: You all need therapy. um um But yeah, anyway, so then, okay, we get to the rose ceremony, right? And so Bailey has the choice of who to keep and who to leave. And this is what I thought was going to happen. This is what I think is interesting is I thought, oh, if she doesn't pick Parisa, then Brian's going to go scorched earth and be like, I'm telling you, because the one redeeming quality that Brian has right now, the only redeeming quality he has right now,
Sammi: is he thinks very highly of Bailey and he's very protective of Bailey and he does not like what Jeremy's doing, although he is still keeping bro code. So again, it's a tiny redeeming quality.
Sammi: It is not a full redeeming quality, but I think he's like,
Steve: yeah Also, we don't know if he actually respects Baylor if he's just like, i kind of want a bang her.
Sammi: Or if he's just trying to look good or, yeah, trying to get with her right? That might be what happens, right? I think it could happen.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But he's like, she's so cool. Like, I just, like, think the world of her whatever.
Steve: Shut up, Brian.
Sammi: And I don't like, yeah, if it's honest or not, whatever. I'm just saying the only tiny, tiny redeeming quality he has is that he is... Like basically firing warning shots at Jeremy. Like you better watch it.
Steve: Big
Sammi: Cause I will tell because you think I'm loyal. First of all, i didn't like you from day one and now we're rooming together. Okay. I will make sparks fly. And so I thought if for some reason, I thought that would mean that the rose ceremony would be that Bailey didn't pick Parisa. Yeah.
Sammi: And I was kind of surprised that she did.
Steve: no
Sammi: You know, she picked Parisa and she picked Faith. And and so Leslie and Big g went home.
Steve: big g
Sammi: And Big L, yeah, who went home. And, you know, Leslie was so sweet. Like, she had said to Bailey, like, I'll love you regardless. Don't worry. Like, maybe i feel like she and Gary were so nice that it was like an easy way to get them gone, you know?
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: So they maybe even wrote their own ticket at that point, but they were just like, it's okay. Like make the choice you got to make. I honestly, I think I would have picked Faith and Kim to go because they live in the same place.
Steve: the
Sammi: So I feel like it would have been easier
Steve: Yeah, it would have been way easier. You live with the same fucking cow.
Sammi: Like, logistically, these are, would have been like, well why don't you go home and go hang out in Washington?
Steve: Yeah.
Steve: Yeah. you
Sammi: Like, they're the closest to each other because, like, I don't even know. do you know where Gary lives? I don't know where Gary lives. But, like, Leslie's in the Twin Cities.
Steve: Oh, no clue.
Sammi: um
Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sammi: And so it's, like, wherever. Gosh, now I don't. Yeah, I'm not sure where he lives. Okay.
Sammi: But i I don't think they're like, you know, close locationally to each other or anything like that. As far as I know, I'm trying to find Gary Levenson.
Sammi: Levingston. Where do you live, Gary? He does have good headshots and very kind eyes. You know, i get it.
Steve: He does.
Sammi: Yeah.
Steve: He's a nice guy. He's funny.
Sammi: he's ah He's a chairman.
Steve: He's a bad gambler.
Sammi: He's a chairman and a president and CEO of Gary Lovingson Productions.
Steve: so ho, ho. Ho, ho, ho, ho,
Sammi: He's in California, Palm Desert, California. Oh my gosh, I forgot I was logged in as my client. So now it's going to be like your client saw looked at this LinkedIn profile.
Steve: ho, ho. ho, ho,
Sammi: Oops, sorry.
Steve: ho, ho, ho. Ho, ho, ho. ho, ho, ho, ho,
Sammi: He's going to be like, why did this random person look at my, hey, maybe he wants to invest. Who knows?
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: Anyway, Gary, if you see that, ah I'm like, I better log into my own LinkedIn profile. Because I do tend to look at Bachelor contestants while we're on LinkedIn while we're on here. So, like okay.
Sammi: Anyway. Sorry about that. um So yeah, that was interesting. So he's in California. Leslie's in the Twin Cities. It would be just tougher for them to connect.
Sammi: So that's that would have been the move. If I was Bailey, I would have made that move just thinking strategically and feeling like I could make the most people happy.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But I also understand she did give um Faith and Kim more time to get to know each other.
Steve: This is true.
Sammi: So that is one thing. And maybe she also did think... That even though like Gary messed it up right at the end, they did they did do pretty well up until then. So it could also be a strategic move.
Steve: Also true.
Sammi: Because bri like Brian and Parisa don't really pose any threat right now. And Kim and Faith just don't know each other well enough to pose a threat. So I don't know if she was thinking strategically, perhaps that's how she did it as well.
Sammi: um But i think Bailey really showed how kind hearted she was on this. And then that just made me like angrier.
Steve: You
Sammi: because i was just like jeremy you better you better actually be nice better be nice to her but she did say something this is um from reality tv world um but she what was she i can't remember what she was on oh of course the vile files oh my gosh Oh, Nick. Anyway, so she said something like, I think everyone can relate. Watching it back is such an interesting thing.
Sammi: I feel like you're watching it real time and you have no idea these things happened. I honestly think I was so focused on Bachelor in Paradise when I was there. I wasn't thinking about watching it back later.
Sammi: It's definitely been hard to watch it back. I'm obviously not going to lie. It's been rough to watch this happen. Um, but she did say, let's see. i understand the thoughts of doubt. I thought that was really hard to watch somebody doubt you when you know how you're feeling.
Sammi: But I also feel like, you know, i just have to be okay watching it back. I just have to be okay processing it because I remember how I felt in the moment and I don't regret my feelings and how I was moving. yeah. Um,
Sammi: yeah um
Sammi: Oh, Frankenbiting. Yeah. Amid speculation. i've i that I've never heard that term, but that makes sense. like
Steve: What?
Sammi: Like weird cuts and stuff, like weird editing.
Steve: Oh.
Sammi: Yeah. Amid speculation, Frankenbiting had made Jeremy look bad. Brian recently confirmed on Bachelor Happy Hour that the editing of his conversation with Jeremy about Susie was completely accurate.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: But instead of bashing Jeremy, Bailey seemed to almost defend him. um Yeah, that's what. Yeah, she said not everything that happened was shown. Well, I mean, that always happened.
Steve: know
Sammi: um Yeah, she's just remembering how good the date was. um It's such a short time um She but she wishes Jeremy hadn't processed his feelings out loud.
Sammi: That's what I'm saying. It's like even if you say, oh, tricky editing, it's like there are so many things that he said on the show that he did not have to say.
Steve: yeah
Steve: Oh, completely.
Sammi: So there's no amount of like chopping. It would have to be to like the Homer Simpson degree of like saying sweet can or whatever with the gummy bean is to Milo.
Sammi: Like it would have to be that chopped for it to to be like a victim of editing. I think I just don't think there's any amount of editing that makes him.
Steve: Well, it's like old oldest reality TV excuse in the book.
Sammi: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Steve: I got the villain at it.
Sammi: And it's also like you sign all of these papers. You fill out hundreds of pages of information. and you so this is not a new thing anymore. We've been doing this for 30 years, you know, just about.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: um Okay, maybe 25. I'll give them that. But for a long time, right? And you sign papers that say, like, I agree to, like, let go of however you make me look.
Sammi: And you own the right to all these things and you can arrange this and serve this up in any way you see fit. And I do not have any say or recourse about it.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: You know, it's like even if someone speaks out too much about the edits, they'll get like from Bachelor and be like, oh, you should probably take that down. So, you know, it's like we know that. But also the thing that I always think about is if you said something and we also see you and your face is moving, your lips are moving when you say it.
Sammi: It's like, oh. Like that's not ADR. That's not, you know, I don't know.
Steve: Yep.
Sammi: You said that. You said that. So whether they coerce you into saying it or you said it of your own free will, like you said it. So anyway, that's that's the biggest thought that I have right now. Any other closing thoughts before we um close here and prepare for next week?
Steve: No, i and I'm annoyed by this season. i
Sammi: ah
Steve: i don't like the setup. I don't like the the pieces that are in place right now. So I want pure chaos. I want couples breaking up left and right. I want Lord of the Flies shit.
Sammi: her
Steve: This is the only thing that's going to save this season is pure chaos. So.
Sammi: I like that. I like that idea. Pure chaos.
Steve: Mm-hmm.
Sammi: I do feel like chaos is coming. they They tease it for next week.
Steve: Lord willing.
Sammi: Like people coming out of booths and you know, because wasn't it wasn't it a clip of like Brian trying to shoot a shot with Bailey?
Steve: Maybe.
Sammi: Or what was that?
Steve: I don't know.
Sammi: I don't know.
Steve: that's they See, they they do get you on those edits when they're like, next week on The Bachelor!
Sammi: but can't remember.
Steve: And they turn something...
Sammi: everybody is going to break down and freak out. And I'm like, oh my God.
Steve: Yeah.
Sammi: And then it's like one person cries about a nice thing. And you're like, oh, you got me again.
Steve: There
Sammi: Yeah. But we'll see. Maybe there'll be actual drama. ah But we'll try to fit in as many episodes as we can before I can't talk good. Um, and then we'll see you on the other side of that.
Sammi: So until next time, friends, it's muggy out there.
Steve: you go.
Sammi: It's not even corn sweats anymore. It's just hot. So, you know, hydrate or dehydrate, take care of yourself, pace yourself if you're going to go on long walks.
Steve: ah don't do needle drugs wipe your ass that's a good one yeah it's it's swampy outside you know it's just
Sammi: Yes. Yeah. That's always good advice. Oh, that's true.
Sammi: D. Swampify.
Steve: De-swampify your butt. De-swampify your butt. De-swampify. De-swampify. De-swampify your butt.
