Introduction to Veronica Julia
00:00:01
Speaker
Bigger talks, bigger talks.
00:00:04
Speaker
We're here at Soho House and we got Veronica Julia, lifestyle entrepreneur from New York.
00:00:10
Speaker
She talks about dating and she also talked about the experiences of going to different restaurants and dining in locations like BC, New York, LA.
00:00:18
Speaker
And today we have the privilege to have her on the podcast and have a bigger conversation about all things.
00:00:23
Speaker
By the way, she's also the founder of the NOAA Collective, a swimwear brand that she created.
00:00:29
Speaker
How long ago was this?
00:00:30
Speaker
So this was in November of 2021 is when we launched.
00:00:32
Speaker
So kind of like a different launch date for a lot of swimwear brands.
00:00:36
Speaker
But I think it was honestly really fun because it's based in New Orleans.
00:00:43
Speaker
Because you're from New Orleans.
00:00:46
Speaker
And it's warm weather all the time down there, you know?
00:00:49
Speaker
So it was crazy because we just didn't expect to have such a great audience from the get-go.
00:00:54
Speaker
But our community really supported us.
00:00:57
Speaker
you know, they were wearing us on all their vacations and tagging us on Instagram.
00:01:02
Speaker
And now we have people that wear it, you know, all over the country, which is super cool.
00:01:05
Speaker
Well, congratulations.
Entrepreneurial Journey from Law to Marketing
00:01:07
Speaker
We get more into that later in the episode, but before we move forward, give the people a little bit of like, who are you, where you come from and like your entrepreneur lifestyle, what is like your expertise and what is it that you do that you love doing?
00:01:21
Speaker
Yeah, so I kind of jumped head first into the entrepreneurship space whenever I was getting my MBA from George Washington University in New C. And we have that DC connection because I know you're Baltimorean.
00:01:35
Speaker
And basically, I graduated from LSU for undergrad and I was like, I have no idea what I want to do.
00:01:43
Speaker
I thought I wanted to be an attorney my entire life and ended up working at a law firm as like a runner, which is
00:01:49
Speaker
honestly what is a runner so yeah you're not like physically running but honestly kind of your brain's running because this particular job that I had it definitely was a little bit more experienced than a typical runner so usually runners are like filing and running like coffees yeah things like that so I was actually coding litigation documents and putting them into the computer system and that's something that like law clerks do you know
00:02:14
Speaker
So I kind of got firsthand experience of something I definitely didn't want to do.
00:02:20
Speaker
And this was at the end of my senior year.
00:02:22
Speaker
And I kind of was like, oh shit, I've really been putting all my eggs in this basket.
00:02:28
Speaker
Let me try and think and be innovative about what else I can do.
00:02:31
Speaker
So I had had all these like marketing internships throughout college.
00:02:35
Speaker
I had actually worked for this brand called Like to Know It.
00:02:39
Speaker
I like to know more about that brand.
00:02:42
Speaker
So that's basically the platform that all influencers use to make their products commissionable.
00:02:47
Speaker
So anytime people are posting links on social media for fashion or accessories or even like lifestyle products, usually they're going through Like to Know It or some other commissionable, commission-based platform.
00:03:01
Speaker
Like to Know It, influencers out there, you want to create a product.
00:03:05
Speaker
I think you should hear it up because also you help influencers scale their brands and their communities, right?
00:03:11
Speaker
So I'd worked for them and then I was like, okay, maybe I should go towards the marketing route.
00:03:16
Speaker
And that's what I did.
00:03:17
Speaker
I ended up in grad school in DC, but COVID happened a semester after I had started and I
00:03:24
Speaker
I basically was doing a lot of freelance social media management for brands that were presenting at New York Fashion Week and LA Fashion Week.
00:03:30
Speaker
So I was working directly with the fashion industry, but I realized that once COVID happens, they were not having runway shows anymore.
00:03:37
Speaker
And there was basically no need for me, at least on site.
00:03:41
Speaker
So I decided to kind of just pivot and start my own...
00:03:45
Speaker
just digital media agency.
Pivoting During COVID: Supporting Hospitality
00:03:47
Speaker
I was creating websites, I was doing graphic design, I was doing branding and it was a lot of work.
00:03:52
Speaker
What gave you the inspiration to do that?
00:03:54
Speaker
Like, was it just the market that was happening in the midst of COVID?
00:03:58
Speaker
Did you have someone in your family like inspiring?
00:04:00
Speaker
Like where did that come from?
00:04:01
Speaker
I mean, that's a bold decision.
00:04:02
Speaker
I'm just talking about my own agency.
00:04:04
Speaker
Yeah, so I have such a deep rooted appreciation for people in the hospitality industry.
00:04:11
Speaker
So growing up, my dad owned a jazz club in New Orleans and I was that little girl sitting bar top with my dad.
00:04:19
Speaker
He's like shooting bath whiskey.
00:04:20
Speaker
I'm drinking a Shirley Temple.
00:04:22
Speaker
And I became best friends with all of the waiters and the waitresses and the whole staff, you know, these establishments because
00:04:30
Speaker
As somebody that had been the daughter of somebody who was working in the jazz club industry, you're going to different restaurants.
00:04:37
Speaker
You're kind of all big community in New Orleans.
00:04:39
Speaker
So I decided to really start focusing on hospitality brands during COVID because they were struggling the most.
00:04:47
Speaker
Like what is some that you work with?
00:04:48
Speaker
Yeah, so like restaurants, I was working also with a lot of fitness people.
00:04:53
Speaker
So whether they were just like instructors or they were gyms, it was very well versed.
00:04:59
Speaker
You know, there was a lot of people that were struggling.
00:05:04
Speaker
It's so crazy because there were so many restaurants and... By the way, are your agency open for hiring?
00:05:11
Speaker
Like if a big brand wants to hire you for like a campaign for three months, is your agency available to kind of work with the brand?
The Power of Micro-Influencers in Marketing
00:05:19
Speaker
Like how does that work?
00:05:20
Speaker
So basically what happened was there were so many like restaurants and people that were online previously that needed help.
00:05:28
Speaker
And I loved doing that.
00:05:30
Speaker
It was so fulfilling for me.
00:05:32
Speaker
But after time went on, I realized that I offered way too many services just for one person to take on.
00:05:38
Speaker
So I ended up working with a business coach and she instructed me to focus on
00:05:44
Speaker
one service that I highly enjoyed and one service that made me the most profit.
00:05:49
Speaker
And basically I found out that I loved doing consulting work.
00:05:54
Speaker
I loved working with people face-to-face.
00:05:55
Speaker
I love being just almost a sneaky business partner in a sense.
00:06:00
Speaker
So now I do social media consulting and basically help people get higher engagement, land paid brand deals if they're, you know, running a personal brand or they're an influencer or
00:06:10
Speaker
and just developing a community as a whole.
00:06:12
Speaker
So that's been really cool.
00:06:14
Speaker
And I think, you know, in that space, because I've been in that space for so long, so many brand deals.
00:06:18
Speaker
And I realized like some of the brands, like I'm more than just a creator and an influencer or a person who posts content for brands.
00:06:25
Speaker
As far as like in the consulting space or like how to set up events, what they're looking for.
00:06:30
Speaker
And I think there are many agencies like you out there.
00:06:34
Speaker
So I'm not sure if there's that do it all, but kind of understand from the inside out.
00:06:39
Speaker
So I work a lot with micro-influencers because I think it's kind of crazy.
00:06:44
Speaker
What's a micro-influencer?
00:06:46
Speaker
Just to kind of preface like what it is, because it did 100,000, 10,000 followers.
00:06:49
Speaker
Like what is a micro-influencer?
00:06:50
Speaker
So a micro-influencer is anywhere between like ground zero to 100,000 followers.
00:06:57
Speaker
After 100,000 followers, you become a macro-influencer.
00:07:00
Speaker
So there is this divide in a way because macro-influencers obviously have like, there's...
00:07:07
Speaker
it's amazing how much money you can make as a macro influencer, but as the micro influencer, obviously you're getting paid less, but these brands really appreciate these micro influencers because let's say they have this huge marketing budget and they don't want to put all of their eggs in one basket and just give this one big influencer like 50,000, but they can spread it out amongst a bunch of smaller influencers and like maybe have a higher return.
00:07:32
Speaker
You know, it kind of just depends on what brand it is and what they're trying to achieve.
00:07:37
Speaker
I think a lot of people think it's impossible to not make money as an influencer unless you're to that caliber.
00:07:43
Speaker
But I think it's all about collaboration over competition.
00:07:45
Speaker
That is my biggest saying.
00:07:47
Speaker
And I think what I try and inspire people to do is collaborate with their communities, with other creators, and just get their name out there.
00:07:54
Speaker
Yeah, collaboration or competition.
00:07:56
Speaker
That's a beautiful name.
00:07:57
Speaker
And I think we all can help each other, especially in the United States space.
00:08:00
Speaker
So let's talk about your social media and your social
Content Creation Strategies and AI Impact
00:08:02
Speaker
So with all your expertise, information, your TikTok is amazing.
00:08:06
Speaker
You also have a podcast, Martini's and Bikini's, right?
00:08:10
Speaker
You talk about that, but how did you go about scaling your TikTok, your Instagram?
00:08:15
Speaker
Like, what's your intentions?
00:08:16
Speaker
Like, to someone who wants to be a creator of micro-influence or maybe a micro, what are some tips you can give them to kind of grow or scale their platform from your perspective?
00:08:24
Speaker
So I think the number one thing is provide value.
00:08:28
Speaker
So whatever you're putting out there, I have this tactic where I actually have a dream follower that I've created.
00:08:35
Speaker
So this is somebody that I've gotten to know pretty like personally over the last few years, but it's a completely made up person.
00:08:42
Speaker
So you want to know who their friends are.
00:08:44
Speaker
How do they support them?
00:08:45
Speaker
Where do they hang out on the internet?
00:08:47
Speaker
What do they like to do?
00:08:48
Speaker
You get to the nitty gritty of their entire personality and you can even give them a name.
00:08:52
Speaker
So before you post your content, you're like, oh, would Emma enjoy this?
00:08:56
Speaker
She like really get a lot of useful information out of this.
00:09:00
Speaker
And I think it kind of helps you step out of that ego in a sense and be like, oh, I look good in this picture.
00:09:05
Speaker
This is something that, you know, I really want to put out there because I want so-and-so to see it.
00:09:08
Speaker
It's like, no, like you're putting out this content because it's going to help your community.
00:09:11
Speaker
It's going to help people and they're going to be able to save it and share it and, you know, spread it even wider.
00:09:18
Speaker
But it's all about the customer and the consumer more than yourself and your ego.
00:09:23
Speaker
So basically what it sounds like, she's using her imagination.
00:09:26
Speaker
You hear that, people?
00:09:27
Speaker
Because you're actually thinking out loud, who is my ideal customer?
00:09:30
Speaker
Who is my ideal niche or people that I should serve to?
00:09:34
Speaker
And what do they look like?
00:09:35
Speaker
What do they feel like?
00:09:36
Speaker
By the way, just a little life hack.
00:09:38
Speaker
AI will tell you that.
00:09:39
Speaker
You can literally create an avatar with artificial intelligence.
00:09:44
Speaker
So say this is your average client is a micro influencer from 25 to 34.
00:09:50
Speaker
You can literally put that in AI and say, what do people from 25 to 34 on Instagram and TikTok struggle with content engagement?
00:09:57
Speaker
And they'll give you a list of things to help you help them understand.
00:10:02
Speaker
So the AI world is such a different world, but you're already in it and scaling it.
00:10:07
Speaker
I love that though, because I think it's so important now as AI is just getting more and more versed and it's just getting up to expert levels.
00:10:17
Speaker
It's kind of scary sometimes.
00:10:19
Speaker
It's so important to not get discouraged by that and think, oh my gosh, AI is coming for me.
00:10:24
Speaker
It's coming to steal my job and think, how can I incorporate AI into my career, into my business and really make it more fruitful that way?
00:10:32
Speaker
All it is is really like,
00:10:34
Speaker
School of hard knocks, information overload or information that you need for yourself.
00:10:37
Speaker
It's like reading a book.
00:10:38
Speaker
It's like dummies for Instagram.
00:10:40
Speaker
All you're doing is putting in information that you're curious about and then it's computing back what you might think could help you.
00:10:46
Speaker
And saving you time.
00:10:50
Speaker
Consistency, fast pace is better than nothing happening.
00:10:53
Speaker
So let's pivot a little bit.
Podcast Launch: Martinis and Bikinis
00:10:57
Speaker
By the way, we're at Soho House.
00:10:59
Speaker
We end where you come in at on the elevator.
00:11:01
Speaker
So excuse the noise, but it's all like a pop-up podcast, right?
00:11:05
Speaker
Bigger Talks with Veronica.
00:11:06
Speaker
Honestly, so I'm Brad.
00:11:08
Speaker
Yeah, so I'm Brad.
00:11:10
Speaker
So tell us about the podcast, Martinis and Bikinis.
00:11:14
Speaker
And what's the intentions behind it?
00:11:16
Speaker
And what is it all about?
00:11:17
Speaker
I was on a podcast and we had a great conversation about life, relationships, dating, being on the show The Bachelor, Bachelorette.
00:11:24
Speaker
So tell me, what is it about, your show, Martinis and Bikinis?
00:11:27
Speaker
So I had been wanting to start a podcast for God knows how long.
00:11:31
Speaker
And I think that is something that's super important.
00:11:34
Speaker
And something that I hope everybody can take away from this is just start even before you're ready.
00:11:39
Speaker
Because I think if you decide to start 10 years down the line and everything's perfect, that's your sign that you started way too late.
00:11:48
Speaker
So it's been such a learning process.
00:11:50
Speaker
And I've honestly had so many learning curves.
00:11:51
Speaker
How long have you had your show?
00:11:53
Speaker
Since December of 2022.
00:11:55
Speaker
So it's not even a year old yet, but it's been super fun.
00:11:58
Speaker
I'm almost at 40 episodes.
00:12:00
Speaker
So it's just kind of.
00:12:01
Speaker
Are you filming here while you're in LA?
00:12:03
Speaker
I filmed one last night, actually.
00:12:05
Speaker
I saw that on your show.
00:12:07
Speaker
You have to go there.
00:12:08
Speaker
It's called WTF Media.
00:12:10
Speaker
Yeah, actually produces a lot of their content there.
00:12:14
Speaker
They have it here and in New York.
00:12:15
Speaker
So yeah, my friends had done some work there and recommended it.
00:12:19
Speaker
So we went in and they already sent me like all my files, everything already.
00:12:23
Speaker
So all the podcasters out there, WTF media, bigger talks coming soon to you.
00:12:31
Speaker
So give us a synopsis.
00:12:32
Speaker
Like what do you talk about the post on your podcast?
00:12:34
Speaker
So what is the intentionality of the episodes?
00:12:37
Speaker
I think what I have gotten the most out of this podcast is that it's honestly a journey with me and like with my interviewees.
00:12:46
Speaker
It's not necessarily this super curated, like just, you know, we're not necessarily talking about a specific topic.
00:12:53
Speaker
I like bringing on people that inspire me.
00:12:55
Speaker
And I think that is the number one thing that I've learned is bring on people that inspire you or people that you just have really good energy with, because that's going to produce really good content.
00:13:05
Speaker
Because if you're just bringing on somebody for clout or whatever, it's like, you might have like the most bland conversation.
00:13:11
Speaker
And I think it's not single-handedly the most important thing that I've learned.
00:13:15
Speaker
But we talk about lifestyle and navigating your twenties and dating and entrepreneurship and all the things that I'm doing and the trial and error of it too.
00:13:24
Speaker
Like kind of just having the space where everything isn't fine-tuned and perfect.
00:13:30
Speaker
It's kind of a place for everybody to come and learn and grow together.
00:13:33
Speaker
So it's been really fun.
00:13:34
Speaker
It's beautiful because I think what you're noting to is that go for it, figure it out, learn, do something you're passionate about.
00:13:40
Speaker
Even if you don't have all the information or the expertise, it's only can give you a better experience.
00:13:44
Speaker
So you're going to learn things about yourself you didn't know.
00:13:47
Speaker
So I believe you're in your mid 20s.
00:13:50
Speaker
So anybody that's in their 20s, what is your advice that you should give them from your journey that you've
Self-Care and Inner Happiness
00:13:56
Speaker
I mean, I think this is definitely oversaid, but focus on yourself because if you are not internally, emotionally, physically, mentally happy with yourself, you're not going to be able to show up for your community.
00:14:12
Speaker
You're not going to be able to find a partner that is going to match that same synergy, that same energy.
00:14:18
Speaker
And you're not going to be able to produce like
00:14:21
Speaker
If you're a content creator or somebody that is having to do that for their business, you're not going to be able to show up as your best self.
00:14:27
Speaker
So I think prioritizing that time with yourself is super important because you show up as the best version of you.
00:14:34
Speaker
in your professional life, in your relationships, with your friendships, with your family.
00:14:38
Speaker
And I'm constantly a work in progress, you know?
00:14:41
Speaker
And I think every day I learn something new about myself.
00:14:44
Speaker
And it's just spending that intentional time with yourself.
00:14:46
Speaker
So that way you can go forward into the world and do really cool things and also foster community.
00:14:51
Speaker
Self-care, you know, speak on self-care, like what is your self-care routine?
00:14:55
Speaker
How do you take care of your wellbeing, your mindset, your energy, your spirituality?
00:14:58
Speaker
What do you do to kind of stay afloat?
00:15:00
Speaker
I mean, cause you're an entrepreneur, let's be clear.
00:15:01
Speaker
You also just moved to New York, even in DC for some time.
00:15:05
Speaker
So how do you prioritize yourself and what does your self-care routine look like on a day-to-day or weekly basis?
00:15:11
Speaker
I think there's so many different realms of self-care.
00:15:13
Speaker
You know, some people may think it's getting in the bathtub or getting some sort of procedure or even just journaling and meditating.
00:15:21
Speaker
And I think all of that kind of goes together.
00:15:23
Speaker
It's whatever you enjoy doing, you know, and it's kind of how they say learning a language should be.
00:15:28
Speaker
It should be something that's fun.
00:15:31
Speaker
They say that that's the easiest way to learn a language is finding a way to learn that's fun for you.
00:15:35
Speaker
And I think it's kind of like that with self-care.
00:15:37
Speaker
If you're not super into journaling and you know, you find it to be boring and you don't find it to be helpful, don't force yourself to journal every day.
00:15:44
Speaker
But if you like having a conversation with a friend and really just getting down to the nitty gritty about what you're struggling with and having this like
00:15:52
Speaker
you know, philosophical talk, maybe that's like your method instead.
00:15:56
Speaker
But for me, I love a morning routine.
00:15:59
Speaker
Obviously I don't stick to this every single morning.
00:16:02
Speaker
So I try and maintain it as much as possible, but it's kind of tricky.
00:16:06
Speaker
So I love to do meditations, whether it's from my,
00:16:11
Speaker
coach rachel she is amazing um i've worked with like a ton of other people too and i find it really entertaining for me to kind of just absorb different types of meditations and practice with breath work and just i'm one of those people that can't do the same workout every day so i don't know how i would expect myself to do the same meditation every day
00:16:31
Speaker
And that's something good to point out because I think when people try to follow self-care routines and they do the meditation, adrenaline, working out, reading books, ref work, which is great.
00:16:40
Speaker
They try to do it like every day.
00:16:42
Speaker
I always say give everything 60 to 90 days.
00:16:45
Speaker
But if you got to switch it up every other day or every other week or every week, that's fine.
00:16:50
Speaker
even for me when I'm putting out a lot of advice or information, I don't want you to take everything I'm saying to face value.
00:16:55
Speaker
This is my perspective.
00:16:56
Speaker
Take what you need.
00:16:57
Speaker
Just like when you read a book, you don't read the entire book and take all the notes.
00:17:00
Speaker
You take the notes that you can relate to.
00:17:04
Speaker
And I think I like what you said.
00:17:06
Speaker
I've never heard that before that.
00:17:08
Speaker
I don't do it every day.
00:17:09
Speaker
I mix it up, but that benefits you.
00:17:11
Speaker
I think that was about getting to the bottom of you or for who you are, what makes sense for your life and livelihood.
00:17:17
Speaker
But I remember us having a discussion months ago, because I want to talk about the Noah Collective.
Mystical Guidance in Entrepreneurship
00:17:22
Speaker
And you said you got, you went to like a psychedelic spirit guide or something.
00:17:27
Speaker
And she kind of gave you like some type of inclination or Tiffany about that.
00:17:31
Speaker
The word no, I don't know.
00:17:32
Speaker
Can you kind of speak on that experience, please?
00:17:35
Speaker
So I honestly think that's another realm of self-care for me.
00:17:38
Speaker
I love mediums and psychics and tarot and channeling.
00:17:45
Speaker
I saw those whenever I walked in.
00:17:46
Speaker
I was like, hell yes.
00:17:48
Speaker
The woo-woo in me is just like exploding.
00:17:50
Speaker
But anyway, I love a good psychic.
00:17:54
Speaker
So my friend Jess Stone, she is phenomenal.
00:17:58
Speaker
She's super well-known here in LA.
00:17:59
Speaker
She works with a lot of health and wellness influencers here.
00:18:04
Speaker
she actually was on a retreat that i went to in mexico it was called camp conscious it was started by the founder of my girl wellness tayla burke they don't do it anymore she's a mom and she's busy she doesn't do it anymore but basically it was a space where a lot of influencers and the female influencers in the health and wellness space would go to mexico and they would stay at this villa and people like megan root from the sculpt society sammy clark
00:18:30
Speaker
Lindsay here at Aubrey Winters, all these amazing people that I've always looked up to were there.
00:18:34
Speaker
And basically they blend that in with girls that are maybe not even in the influencing space, but are interested in health and wellness.
00:18:43
Speaker
And maybe that's something that's in the future for them.
00:18:47
Speaker
And these are just people to...
00:18:49
Speaker
you know, hang out with for a week and hear panel speakers and get inspired and all that.
00:18:53
Speaker
But anyway, so I met Jess there and she did a tarot reading for me and I was blown away by the accuracy because it ended up all coming true.
00:19:03
Speaker
But I went to see her in LA and I did a channeling session, which I honestly didn't know a lot about channeling.
00:19:08
Speaker
I thought I was like connecting with my angels and like lost loved ones.
00:19:12
Speaker
And that is not what it is at all.
00:19:14
Speaker
You're basically connecting with your guides, your spiritual guides.
00:19:18
Speaker
These are people without like a physical form.
00:19:20
Speaker
They have names and basically they are speaking through Jess on how to kind of construct your life in a positive way.
00:19:28
Speaker
So one of my guides names was Noa, but it was spelled like N-O-A.
00:19:35
Speaker
And she has this like in the recording, which is crazy because...
00:19:39
Speaker
maybe two months before we had completely solidified the name because it stands for nature's own art.
00:19:45
Speaker
And basically what our line does.
00:19:48
Speaker
It's all animal print.
00:19:50
Speaker
So we take on like a modern design and modern innovative way to animal print and put it on our pieces.
00:19:58
Speaker
So we were like, oh, that's the perfect name.
00:20:00
Speaker
It wasn't trademarks.
00:20:00
Speaker
We were like, all right, stamp of approval.
00:20:03
Speaker
Hadn't shared it on social media.
00:20:04
Speaker
Hadn't shared it with really anyone besides like family and friends.
00:20:08
Speaker
And it was just so crazy that Jess said that because I went back on the reporting a few months later and I was just like, it's still the craziest thing ever.
00:20:15
Speaker
Like I listened to it all the time.
00:20:16
Speaker
So you forgot that she had told you that.
00:20:18
Speaker
And you had already...
00:20:19
Speaker
Because I think at the time I was like, no way.
00:20:21
Speaker
Like it wasn't processing, you know?
00:20:23
Speaker
And then I went back and listened and she was like, it's spelled like N-O-A.
00:20:26
Speaker
And I was like, oh my gosh, like that's crazy.
00:20:28
Speaker
But you pronounce it Noah?
00:20:31
Speaker
So that was just absolutely amazing.
00:20:34
Speaker
And then actually the last time I was in LA, whenever you came on the podcast, I was here for a month and I went to see a psychic because at the time I was looking for a new environment.
00:20:44
Speaker
I had been in DC for four years.
00:20:45
Speaker
I have this new theory on life that you can't stay.
00:20:48
Speaker
I can't stay in anywhere for longer than a degree.
00:20:52
Speaker
And it's kind of just something I made up.
00:20:54
Speaker
I don't know if that's going to last forever.
00:20:55
Speaker
But anyway, I asked her if I should move.
00:20:59
Speaker
And she basically said, you should move to New York because something is going to fall into your lab.
00:21:04
Speaker
And I was like, that's so weird.
00:21:07
Speaker
Basically two months ago, my mom calls me and she's like, Hey, so I know you've always toyed with living in New York.
00:21:13
Speaker
I have this friend of a friend that has an apartment in New York.
00:21:16
Speaker
She usually lives in West Palm beach and she basically is just looking for somebody to live there and take care of the place.
00:21:22
Speaker
She's going to give you a really good rate.
00:21:23
Speaker
If you're interested, she wants to talk to you.
00:21:30
Speaker
And I think, you know, people listening really take this in because I believe the world is becoming spiritual.
00:21:35
Speaker
The social media has amplified so many different experiences that we don't really experience ourselves, but we experience through other people.
00:21:42
Speaker
And so I feel like people are getting a lot of material possessions, they're having money, they're having fame, they're having success, but people are not fulfilled.
00:21:48
Speaker
And I feel like the new thing was taboo for years was like, you know, psychics, card readers, numerology, astrology, human design.
00:21:57
Speaker
All these things, manifestation, law of abundance, all these law of attraction.
00:22:02
Speaker
And I think this is a new way or new route or intentions to go.
00:22:05
Speaker
Keep listening to kind of get some guidance or some internal understanding or what to do or what is your purpose?
00:22:12
Speaker
What gives you meaning or where you should go?
00:22:13
Speaker
Not that you got to take it all on, but I mean, clearly you're speaking to these are two experiences that really help you make life decisions to change your life.
00:22:23
Speaker
So with your swimwear brand, how long have you guys been in business?
00:22:27
Speaker
So since November of 2021, and we've been able to go to New York Fashion Week, which is kind of taboo having swimwear in New York Fashion Week.
00:22:38
Speaker
So we decided to go to New York Fashion Week, kind of make this like big entrance.
00:22:44
Speaker
And it was around the time of Mardi Gras.
00:22:46
Speaker
So we made it like this elevated version of what a swimwear show would usually be.
00:22:50
Speaker
So we had handmade masquerade mask with like these crystals that like draped over the model's faces and like metallic cowboy boots and just made it like this really, really cool and interesting show kind of made it more artistic as opposed to, you know, just getting someone to walk on the runway and put on a bikini and it was, it was really cool.
00:23:08
Speaker
And then that experience, like how did I saw like you had so many different models and people, how did you scout your talent?
00:23:13
Speaker
Like, how did you go about that process?
00:23:15
Speaker
Because it looked like a big time fashion show and I loved it.
00:23:17
Speaker
And by the way, I got some shorts.
00:23:19
Speaker
I wore them in France.
00:23:20
Speaker
I was in the south of France and I was getting a lot of compliments and they were comfortable and the blue was like popping.
00:23:26
Speaker
Yeah, our guys pieces are honestly our most popular, which is so funny because whenever we were first starting, we thought that the women's pieces were just going to take off.
00:23:34
Speaker
Yeah, because women always sell and buy it.
00:23:36
Speaker
Well, it's so easy to market to women, you know?
00:23:38
Speaker
And I think for the guys, it's a lot of word of mouth.
00:23:41
Speaker
And every single pair that we have came out with, there are multiple people that have bought every single print because they love the comfort of the shorts.
00:23:49
Speaker
They're comfortable.
00:23:50
Speaker
And the texture, how they feel on you.
00:23:52
Speaker
It's all 100% recycled material.
00:23:54
Speaker
It feels like butter.
00:23:56
Speaker
But yeah, so that show was super fun.
00:23:59
Speaker
And the way that we passed our models usually is through the production agency that we go through.
00:24:04
Speaker
So we went through Fashion Week House, which is a production company that my friend Kachita started.
00:24:09
Speaker
She is phenomenal.
00:24:10
Speaker
I need to connect you to.
00:24:11
Speaker
But she's based here in LA.
00:24:13
Speaker
And she has this brand called Style on the Spot, where she's been on shows for Louis Vuitton and all these things.
00:24:18
Speaker
Style on the Spot.
00:24:19
Speaker
First, the beginning of the episode, you said...
00:24:22
Speaker
like it to me like to know it like to know it and what's the other one so she's style on the spot she puts on events for people here this is some type of like synergy and pattern with you with these names that are so simple but yes so big in a way where they provide for so many people absolutely absolutely it's all about the name yeah it's all about the name but anyway it's miracle season it's great there you go it's miracle season people
00:24:49
Speaker
But anyway, she usually will reach out to a bunch of talent agencies and managers and they'll apply.
00:24:58
Speaker
And then we have this Excel spreadsheet that we'll go through and we'll basically call them and ask, hey, do you want to come model for our show?
00:25:06
Speaker
We're going to New York Fashion Week.
00:25:07
Speaker
We'd love to have you if you'll be in town or if you want to fly in.
00:25:10
Speaker
want you to walk for us then it goes into a casting process where we basically get them in our clothes or in our swimwear and we do like kind of like a test run they will walk for us sometimes they do it virtually it kind of depends but then we'll do fittings and it's kind of like this phase process you know there's the phase of them getting started there's a phase of us calling them and wanting them to come then there's the phase of like
00:25:35
Speaker
them previewing their walk for us and then doing fittings and just so you understand it all i guess it's the life of entrepreneur well i used to in a power relationship yeah a lot of phenomenal relationships yeah i love the runway scene i think it's fun and i think you got some footage of you walking i i walked like walking oh god i don't know how they do it yeah it's a lot right so much adrenaline i stayed up all night afterwards like i was just so like oh
00:25:59
Speaker
But basically a model ended up not showing up at the last minute.
00:26:04
Speaker
And I had to have 12 looks.
00:26:05
Speaker
So I was just like, well, I'm going to do it.
00:26:08
Speaker
Because usually what I do for the runway shows is I'll wear one of our pieces with like a blazer set.
00:26:13
Speaker
So I try to mix in like the businesswoman, but also like the swimwear.
00:26:17
Speaker
And I was like, I'm going to be the last one to walk out.
00:26:20
Speaker
I'm just going to rip off my blazer.
00:26:21
Speaker
And I'm going to strut down that runway.
00:26:23
Speaker
But I honestly really overestimated like the
00:26:28
Speaker
how crazy or underestimated how crazy it would be it was nuts i i don't know how they do that all the time but you did it i have a lot of respect for the models so what is your uh what is your um
Vision for the Future: Community and Creativity
00:26:41
Speaker
You know, you're independent, you know, you're a businesswoman, you're successful.
00:26:46
Speaker
I mean, your dad was a, you know, entrepreneur, like, but what is your vision and how you see maybe your next, not three to five years, but your next six months to 18 months?
00:26:54
Speaker
Like, where do you want to be?
00:26:55
Speaker
How do you see yourself?
00:26:56
Speaker
Because I see, like...
00:26:58
Speaker
You've really been a lifestyle entrepreneur for people who are trying to scale their business through social media and digital media and marketing.
00:27:06
Speaker
So I just moved to New York, so I feel like I'm kind of getting my feet settled in and I'm starting to feel a little bit more grounded.
00:27:13
Speaker
What part of New York are you in?
00:27:15
Speaker
I'm in the Upper East Side, so I'm an uptown girl.
00:27:17
Speaker
I love Lower East Side.
00:27:18
Speaker
Upper East Side is great, too.
00:27:20
Speaker
I was originally looking there, but then this opportunity fell into my lap.
00:27:23
Speaker
And I'm actually so grateful.
00:27:25
Speaker
I love my neighborhood.
00:27:26
Speaker
And it's a place that I haven't explored a ton.
00:27:28
Speaker
But I'm right next to Central Park.
00:27:30
Speaker
I'm right next to the Met, so I can go on my little hot girl walks, get my coffee, and walk around Central Park.
00:27:34
Speaker
And it's such a luxury.
00:27:35
Speaker
You definitely have a so New York, like, presence.
00:27:37
Speaker
Like, I feel like you have that New York vibe.
00:27:39
Speaker
Yeah, because you're very, like...
00:27:42
Speaker
not straightforward but you're more like transparent in a way like you show up like you're not like like yeah you know like bc new york like east coast vibe you know usually when you're from the east coast it's more like straightforward to the point very clear i get you it's the capricorn i mean right what's your moon and rising do you know yeah i'm a gemini moon and an aquarius rising
00:28:05
Speaker
So that's where all the spiritual stuff and the psychic stuff.
00:28:07
Speaker
And then you got the moon and the Gemini.
00:28:09
Speaker
You want to travel.
00:28:10
Speaker
You want to have fun.
00:28:11
Speaker
It's all over the place.
00:28:13
Speaker
But yeah, no, I think DC really prepped me for New York, but I think I want to get settled in there and I'd love to develop more of a community there because I think my community in DC has been so amazing and I just want to continue to grow.
00:28:25
Speaker
Like, I don't think there needs to be like a geographical area.
00:28:30
Speaker
I think I'm one of those people that likes to be well-traveled and see different parts of the world.
00:28:34
Speaker
Well-traveled, well-versed, well-read.
00:28:37
Speaker
Diversity, perspective, class, just all these things because it makes you more than just what people see.
00:28:43
Speaker
I think that's why you have a podcast.
00:28:44
Speaker
That's why you have a swimwear brand.
00:28:45
Speaker
That's why you have a business and, you know, digital space.
00:28:48
Speaker
But what else have you been embarking on lately?
00:28:50
Speaker
Like what is something that you're excited or happy about outside of just moving to New York?
00:28:57
Speaker
So I am actually making a big change within the swimwear.
00:29:02
Speaker
So we sold out of everything a few weeks ago, which is so exciting.
00:29:06
Speaker
Our complete site is just nothing.
00:29:10
Speaker
Is it all marketing?
00:29:11
Speaker
Like how do you go about?
00:29:12
Speaker
So it's kind of organic marketing.
00:29:14
Speaker
We don't do any targeted ads or paid ads.
00:29:16
Speaker
We just, you know, talk about it on our social medias and
00:29:20
Speaker
get people to wear it and you know to kind of do it that way i think influencer marketing has been great for us but also just like your normal day-to-day girl like putting on the swimsuit like posting something on instagram about it and i i think it's cool just to like see all the different ways that our stuff has been marketed and like what's worked and what hasn't but i went to paraiso swim week in miami a few weeks ago
00:29:44
Speaker
And that was such a cool experience because I got to see all these amazing designers.
00:29:49
Speaker
We actually were there last year at a pop-up, which was super cool.
00:29:53
Speaker
We've never done a runway there, but we've done pop-up shops, the SLS.
00:29:57
Speaker
And basically I got so much, just, oh my God, so much influence, so much inspiration from all these different designers.
00:30:04
Speaker
There was this one line called the blondes.
00:30:07
Speaker
They've dressed Beyonce.
00:30:07
Speaker
They've dressed Taylor Swift and they had the craziest theme.
00:30:11
Speaker
It was with Teletubbies.
00:30:13
Speaker
But they had super couture swimwear and it was just the most beautiful show I've ever seen, even though they added that comedic relief.
00:30:21
Speaker
And I really want to kind of buckle down on our runway appearances and create runway pieces that we could end up selling for like a premium price.
00:30:31
Speaker
Outside of the swimwear?
00:30:32
Speaker
So I want to do, I actually want to have these runway pieces that we sell for a premium price that we only make one of them.
00:30:39
Speaker
And you sport it on the runway.
00:30:41
Speaker
And then that's almost a sneak peek as to what our drop is going to be.
00:30:45
Speaker
So we're going to incorporate the prints.
00:30:48
Speaker
10 20 30 maybe 10 for the drop but a drop five to ten pieces so for our women's pieces we want to actually come out with three different tops so we want full coverage we want plus size and we want just you know our normal what we've been doing so that everybody can sport it and then for our men's pieces we want to have our swim trunks but then we also want to have like different lengths we want to have button downs that match our swim trunks and just incorporate more products
00:31:16
Speaker
yeah swim trunks that's fly I never thought of that yeah wow so I've been really in the creative process right now which has been so exciting and it's not anything that's like super like oh I want all these big accolades right now I don't feel like I'm in that phase of my life I feel like I'm in this rebirth era in a bit I'm in like the brainstorming phase and yeah creating so
00:31:39
Speaker
So we're going to pull some cards.
00:31:43
Speaker
In the process of me shuffling so you can pull, I got two questions.
00:31:47
Speaker
What's working for you right now and what's your greatest challenge?
00:31:51
Speaker
My greatest challenge, I think, is time.
00:32:01
Speaker
really overextend myself sometimes.
00:32:03
Speaker
And I think because of that, I am not spending my time wisely or intentionally, or maybe just not enough on the things you need to spend time with.
00:32:14
Speaker
And I honestly think that's kind of my credit coming out too a bit, because I think,
00:32:19
Speaker
Even if we don't feel like we're being productive sometimes, we may be being productive.
00:32:23
Speaker
But like, even for me, I have such a hard time relaxing.
00:32:25
Speaker
So whenever I'm relaxing, I'm almost like fake relaxing and that's not productive at all.
00:32:30
Speaker
You know, if you want to truly relax, you have to be in that relaxed state.
00:32:33
Speaker
And sometimes that's really hard for me.
00:32:35
Speaker
so that almost makes me feel like I'm wasting time but I think time is something that I really value and I'm just trying to find my boundaries with it even if it's just like me fixing my relationship with it but I think that's my number one thing having compassion right because I mean you only can do so much right right and can
00:32:56
Speaker
comparison to at least you're aware i think you know the main thing is you're aware and you'll want to work on it and eventually it'll get better because you're putting energy there because that's what your attention gets right and what's working for you right now yeah what's working for me i think is spending time with creative people i really a good answer yeah what do you get from spending time with creative people that's a great answer i've never thought about i feel like the best version of myself i think that
00:33:22
Speaker
Again, going back to the collaboration over competition, I think whenever you're willing to give your creative energy to somebody else, they're willing to kind of have that output and give it back to you.
00:33:32
Speaker
And it's just creating this cycle of amazingness.
00:33:38
Speaker
I love that cycle of amazingness.
00:33:39
Speaker
But even being here in LA with some friends that are in their creative space, I just feel so much more invigorated and excited.
00:33:46
Speaker
It's the energy that opens you up.
00:33:48
Speaker
It makes you think.
00:33:49
Speaker
It expands your consciousness.
00:33:51
Speaker
Like right now, you're saying collaboration over competition.
00:33:53
Speaker
That's making me think.
00:33:54
Speaker
Or how you think about being with creative people that answer.
00:33:57
Speaker
I'm like, damn, I never thought of it like that.
00:34:02
Speaker
You got to pick a card.
00:34:04
Speaker
What is spirit telling you?
00:34:06
Speaker
It's pulling me right here.
00:34:10
Speaker
Actually, no, this one.
00:34:13
Speaker
My breath connects me to life.
00:34:16
Speaker
Wow, her breath connects you to life.
00:34:18
Speaker
What do you get from that?
00:34:19
Speaker
What does that mean to you?
00:34:22
Speaker
And what comes up for you when you read that?
00:34:26
Speaker
So I actually really love this because I know we were talking about meditation and things like that.
00:34:31
Speaker
I guess this is more of a general answer, but I think...
00:34:37
Speaker
It's really important to be present.
00:34:38
Speaker
Yeah, you just talked about that.
00:34:41
Speaker
And even just taking time to like breathe and just settling in and remembering to be grateful for everything that's going on in your life.
00:34:50
Speaker
But yeah, I think we just forget to breathe sometimes.
00:34:54
Speaker
I actually just had this amazing woman on my show.
00:34:57
Speaker
It's Well and Wonder Studio in DC.
00:35:00
Speaker
It's the first yoga studio slash hemp dispensary in DC.
00:35:06
Speaker
So basically it's for all like the rich Georgetown moms.
00:35:09
Speaker
They go do yoga and then it's like this dispensary, but they have a class on Friday.
00:35:14
Speaker
It's called Hang and Heal where they give you a free gift with the purchase of a class.
00:35:18
Speaker
So they'll give you an edible or CBD or whatever.
00:35:20
Speaker
And then you take this yoga class.
00:35:22
Speaker
But it's my friend Carol that started it.
00:35:26
Speaker
She was a sports broadcaster.
00:35:28
Speaker
She had her own program on the ESPN network.
00:35:30
Speaker
And now she's just the owner of this yoga studio.
00:35:34
Speaker
But she just reminded me to remember to breathe.
00:35:39
Speaker
Even if it's just like taking little sips of air every minute you remember, you know, like, I haven't breathed in a long time.
00:35:46
Speaker
Yeah, and it's so crazy because the vibe of the day was in this car to say, I take the time I need to breathe.
00:35:52
Speaker
So I'm gonna read this out.
00:35:54
Speaker
My breath connects me to life and yoga teaches this spoke on yoga.
00:35:58
Speaker
Breath is prana, which is in another word, life force.
00:36:01
Speaker
The ancient yogi saw no distinction between breath and life force.
00:36:04
Speaker
And today the universe is encouraging you to tune into the power of your breath.
00:36:14
Speaker
Yeah, we breathe without thinking.
00:36:16
Speaker
Yet when things get tense or overwhelming, there's a good chance we deprive ourselves of what we need most, air.
00:36:21
Speaker
Air holds the life force of the universe.
00:36:23
Speaker
And when we become aware of our connection to it, we create a pathway to guidance, support, and even abundance.
00:36:29
Speaker
Today, you're being guided to take more breathing space in your life.
00:36:34
Speaker
When too many things are piled into your schedule, you breathe.
00:36:37
Speaker
Your breath, I'm sorry, can become shallow.
00:36:39
Speaker
Your energy can be spread thin and eventually you can feel drained.
00:36:43
Speaker
So take note of your breath.
00:36:44
Speaker
If you're holding it or restricting it while doing tasks in your daily life, know that that's not fully in alignment with your being.
00:36:52
Speaker
Take your time to breathe.
00:36:53
Speaker
You weren't born to live with a half full cup.
00:36:56
Speaker
You are here to breathe with ease and live a life that is full, full of purpose, connection, and enjoyment.
00:37:02
Speaker
Veronica, five of the day.
00:37:04
Speaker
I take the time I need to breathe.
00:37:07
Speaker
Yeah, so this was great.
00:37:09
Speaker
Yeah, people, breathe.
00:37:12
Speaker
I mean, I need that as well because as East Coasters, we're always going to go.
00:37:15
Speaker
We're running like energy and so, but
00:37:19
Speaker
I have this saying for most of my clients before we get into our discussion or session.
00:37:23
Speaker
Tell them to hug themselves and take a deep breath.
00:37:27
Speaker
I'm going to do that.
00:37:34
Speaker
I'm well and safe from love.
00:37:36
Speaker
And then it's like you set the tone for the conversation or the session.
00:37:41
Speaker
I'm totally doing that from now on.
00:37:42
Speaker
So can you leave us with any, any motivational inspiration for the people listening that's going to watch and hear this podcast that you can give for them to stay motivated and inspired on that journey of self-fulfillment or just life itself?
00:37:55
Speaker
Yeah, I think going back to what I was saying earlier, even about meditating and self-care, find ways to do things in life that make it fun.
00:38:04
Speaker
And I think if you're feeling stagnant in your career or within your relationships, it's time to branch out, have fun with it, experiment.
00:38:12
Speaker
You know, even now that I'm in New York, I don't know too many people, but yeah.
00:38:16
Speaker
I'm choosing to have fun with it and like go out and meet new people and just jump in head first and just trying to be better, like at least 1% every day, you know, whether that's fostering a community or building on my brands, you know, just doing one thing that's going to inch me closer to those goals, but also remember to have fun because at the end of the day, if I'm not having fun, what is the point?
00:38:37
Speaker
We have one life and it's meant to be enjoyed and YOLO.
00:38:42
Speaker
No, seriously, I was just listening to an episode on YouTube by Eric Thomas, and he was talking about being singular, like instead of being all these different peoples, he was like, he said, I'm gonna give it to you guys, like, you're gonna die.
00:38:53
Speaker
You're gonna transition, you're gonna leave this earth.
00:38:56
Speaker
So you're stressing over what?
00:38:58
Speaker
Like, you're gonna die.
00:39:00
Speaker
he said okay if you get the million dollar house you get the career you want you're gonna go so people as she said live have fun be curious jump in and i like to say sometimes you got to leap to get the faith right sometimes you got to jump in something uncomfortable to kind of get faith that you're going to be okay right and so with this episode guys thank you for listening veronica thank you for being here but can you share your social media channels how we can get in contact with you how can we get some of your services where can we find you
