Chris Prime: sexy, like... Hello, monsters. and Because it's not just Pinhead. like you just I mean... They This movie is mostly Pinhead the movie.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Bye. Uh, you You kind of need, like... these Twisted creatures to complete the... So, like... traditional Hellraiser lore.
Chris Prime: And you're going to have like. devotee. people that Praise the lake. The dimension of hell. That's like the the big thing. And that's something like the game.
Chris Prime: I think it's doing because it's not just. Like. You fight. you know, The Cinnabites in a fistfight. Uh...
Zach Sheets: Yeah, there's there's whole there's a whole like cult that like worships them and wants to like.
Chris Prime: and then
Zach Sheets: unlock the puzzle box and like go to the dimension Like they want. It's their whole thing. like We want to become like Cenoblades or become... Like them.
Chris Prime: I think like. That's why the first movie is pretty good. The second movie. Yeah. It's like a good follow -up. Where... But, like... The vote isn't done yet.
Chris Prime: And then now in this third one.
Zach Sheets: okay
Chris Prime: It kind of like. What if we moved away from... Like... Anyone could like. move away from the core story the original to
Chris Prime: there's There's just like this constant. curse and and like blessing with power like an obsession with power and then like greed. And... yeah they move that away too like i i know like there's that other trilogy of Hellraiser movies that kind of tank.
Chris Prime: the momentum
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: so as long as we get in that direction where it's just like it's just being sexy for no reason Or like, we just want sexy monsters for no reason?
Zach Sheets: Well this this one also is definitely kind of the turn toward more like straightforward, kind of like. Like... This is Pinhead becoming more of like a Freddy Krueger.
Chris Prime: Yeah. Like, he's he's more of a personality.
Zach Sheets: Like, he's got one -liners, you know, it's... it's there's like the whole ending this is like explosions going off
Chris Prime: Like, there's no it's no longer... target it. And, like... Uh... But like... Uh... the typical. Demon.
Chris Prime: Where... A demon movie where it like weakens their will. To then it's like, except. except like our terror because it's the only thing only option left you Usually...
Chris Prime: those kind of possession movies or Or like... And Anthony stalking them. There's a lot more like breakdown Where I think about the third act in this, it's it's completely just like. a slasher movie
Zach Sheets: Yes.
Chris Prime: It's like, oh, are you in my way? You're dead. Are you? Someone who I think like. Are are. I don't know. It's weird because it's like. You... The... This is like...
Chris Prime: if you If Clive Barker sort of establishes the rule in his original short story and the first two movies where. These creatures of demons they exist in a alternate dimension where pain and pleasure are like one.
Zach Sheets: oh
Chris Prime: And then. This time around. Like... Pinhead is sort of just like... jazz like freeform jazzing his way. You know, and I think that That's what is confusing about this.
Zach Sheets: He's just like blowing stuff up with his mind.
Chris Prime: Yeah, just because. And it's not like... and And it's not like I don't. Kind of like Evil Dead where I think about... what the goal was. It wasn't.
Chris Prime: Like Pinhead was looking to... Like... Run a nightclub. you know and His goal wasn't to get his...
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Get the box back.
Zach Sheets: I mean, kind of it it it was to get the box back because that's the only thing that can stop him, but...
Chris Prime: But it's it's like... Him trying to get the box is what gets him. like destroyed. But if you just left it alone, it would have been fine.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, and he and he's he's he's still, you know, he's talking about, he's like, he has like always talks about, like, the flesh and, like... The. pleasures and pain and all that stuff, but then it's all yeah but then he just goes out like he just goes on like a slasher villain rampage.
Chris Prime: And I guess that's the hell on earth portion of the movie.
Zach Sheets: Hmm.
Chris Prime: Because it's like... the one i don't know the one hour he's able to like
Zach Sheets: It takes... It takes a while to get there, yeah.
Chris Prime: it does take a while but it's like he doesn't exactly turn into a landscape whatever generic city he's supposed to be in i think it's supposed to be l la
Zach Sheets: I think so, yeah
Chris Prime: Like a fake l LA because technically everything was filmed in North Carolina.
Zach Sheets: i guess I guess it's New York. cause like Uh, Wikipedia says, like... JP owns a New York City nightclub called The Boiler Room.
Chris Prime: And. If I was remembering the behind the scenes of this, like... They just filmed all of this in North Carolina.
Zach Sheets: Mm.
Chris Prime: And... That's why it's like all shot at night. You don't really see. them go to... Any iconic New York locations like filmed on location?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, because the first because the first two were filmed in like the UK.
Chris Prime: And most I just remember the first. Two films took place in a house. And then like a basement.
Zach Sheets: Yes. yeah much much this I think this this one had definitely had like a a much bigger budget than the first two. I think this one might have had like the biggest budget of the entire series.
Chris Prime: Also, this is... This is what, 1991?
Zach Sheets: 992.
Chris Prime: I'd say two. So Jason took... Tix Manhattan already came out. And then. this is where like the monster movies the creature is like in a city
Zach Sheets: Yeah, like the like the entire Nightmare... Well, I guess the only one left was Freddy vs. Jason, but like the entire Nightmare on Elm Street series was wrapped up by this point. Because, like, Fray's dead was 91.
Chris Prime: So yeah, they were just like, okay, well there's a... We could have that. demographic we could be a a creature that takes place in a city.
Zach Sheets: I was getting prepared to nightmare too, because there's a lot, there's like so much dream talk in this movie and people going into dreams and talking in dreams. and
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's a very... really Loose. reason of the dream world and it i thought it would pay off in a different way but As we get into it, I'm just confused by why it's needed.
Chris Prime: It's such a like filler.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: to get to

Chris Prime: A 90 -minute movie?
Zach Sheets: But yeah, buts it's it's picking up after Hellraiser 2. So, which at the end of Hellraiser 2, Like... Pinhead and then Elliot Spencer, who was the World War I...
Zach Sheets: captain who Turned into Pinhead. uh, they got separated. Like there's like, Elliot's soul got like separated from Pinhead. so like the pinhead in this movie is just like a full evil demon with no Like.
Chris Prime: Humanity?
Zach Sheets: Like, man, they left it in him. And they also he was trapped in a like a statue. like some sort like this like pillar that... formed at the end of Hellraiser 2.
Zach Sheets: And then in the beginning of this movie. This. Douchebag nightclub owner, JP. buys it. From an art gallery. For...
Chris Prime: Which they don't really... explain who the art gallery guy was he just
Zach Sheets: No. like Like fake Chris Christopherson shows up. He's like. You know... Give me give you whatever you want. What do you think it should be?
Chris Prime: Give him basically like 50 bucks?
Zach Sheets: You could have probably been like, sure, that's good.
Chris Prime: Also, how did that one douche bro like... Carry that. Pillar out. in his Corvette. like There's not enough space. In his car. I forget that.
Zach Sheets: Or get it like... into into like his like through the nightclub through like all of his like It... The restaurant and the the... The metal bar. Which, yeah, can we... His club is. Insane.
Chris Prime: Architecturally nonsense.
Zach Sheets: Because you walk in. And it's like a bar nightclub, kind of like a typical set up. Then you go down a flight of stairs and it's a full heavy metal club.
Chris Prime: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: And then. you go i guess into another room it's like a a fancy Restaurants?
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like a... dining hall.
Zach Sheets: Like white white tablecloth waiter's wine restaurant.
Chris Prime: because...
Chris Prime: And then at some point... He lives there? There's like a room?
Zach Sheets: He has like a loft.
Chris Prime: We're here.
Zach Sheets: and then he's And then he's an artist? Or he just buy that he just buys... weird paintings i think of these i think he said he's an artist or something like too that's why but he like That's why he appreciates art.
Chris Prime: I guess that makes sense. but Like it's such a stretch.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: but yeah but he yeah but he's like yeah i need this i need this like Weird. uh pillar to be like at the foot of my bed
Chris Prime: I get it if he's drawn to it. It's something twisted. And. you know, this This is just like... It makes sense for his like. psychotic mind that he wants something psychotic.
Zach Sheets: Hmm.
Chris Prime: Uh... I think it would have been better as a, like... A piece. In his. restaurant or his club but the fact that it's like his bedroom seduction pillar like It's what he wants to show ladies.
Zach Sheets: Yep. He's like, yeah yeah, this is like demonic pillar awesome. All these like twisted, like such as screaming like faces in it.
Chris Prime: Yeah, that's the part where... I thought he was gonna... host a guy He was going to turn so some part of his business relating around that pillar. And it turns out it's like a...
Chris Prime: It's like a... cool like bedroom thing that Like... He's not even praying to it or anything. It's just like... He tries to have one night stands and he's like.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Right? Check this out. All right, get out of here.
Zach Sheets: And then somehow also like, so a guy. Breaks into his... but like JP's bedroom. and is he able to chisel out the puzzle box.
Chris Prime: Which we don't see. It's not like...
Zach Sheets: we do We don't see it, yeah.
Chris Prime: That's like explained off screen. It happens off screen, but everyone just talks about it. And you're like, okay, I guess.
Zach Sheets: I mean, like How long would it take that guy to chisel it out of a... a pillar of, like, whatever whatever it's made of. Like, just, like...
Chris Prime: Like, let's just say marble.
Zach Sheets: he a hammer and she's like chiseling it out no one heard it or did anything
Chris Prime: Well, the night club seems loud, right?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, i guess i guess I guess if Armored Saint is playing, you won't you you wouldn't hear that. They'll cover it up pretty much.
Zach Sheets: It's like the big like band that's in... It's a cameo.
Zach Sheets: which it it's kind of weird. It wasn't like, I feel like. I feel like if you got you got Motorhead on the soundtrack, I don't know why they wouldn't have Motorhead in the it'd be like the band that's playing. but
Chris Prime: It's probably expensive. It's just more and more cost.
Zach Sheets: But yeah, some of this guy steals the puzzle blocks, I guess. And also is able to twist it even though it's like... like locked up in cement or whatever things made of he was able to like manipulate it And then obviously that causes the him to get...
Zach Sheets: ripped out apart by chains.
Zach Sheets: Which is witnessed by... Uh, Joey, who is a a reporter. And she is like. Uh... I feel like she's getting like Veronica Corningstone, where she just is getting in like these like... horribly like these dumb stories and she's trying to like get like an actual like big story like it actually a newsworthy story
Chris Prime: Well, I mean, she's such a young reporter. And she's ambitious for this. Fred New York. But she in that same way, she's like... Almost an April O 'Neil.
Chris Prime: where it's just like this is gonna make me big i'll tell the news regardless of like
Zach Sheets: right
Chris Prime: what my bosses want. like she doesn't want to play the game she wants to like just make it big quick But the story of, hey, this guy with like. Mysterious change that... blew up in a hospital room. Like that doesn't make the news.
Zach Sheets: No. Well, then she's she's there initially. i don't know what like I don't know what her original story was, but she shows up at the...
Chris Prime: It was a feel good piece about like something about the hospital. Like. Nothing's happening. It's actually a good night.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, like no one's here, which it would have never happen. There's always someone there.
Chris Prime: But... Apparently. Like... She jinxed it at that moment.
Chris Prime: You know, it's not like... It's not like Uh... She doesn't live. In a city. You know, it's like at this point, she just wants to be like an ambulance chaser.
Chris Prime: But the way they present. the like you know, like her hangout in the hospital is such a like horror movie trope where like it's the most dimly lit hospital I've ever seen.
Zach Sheets: Oh my god, yeah. It's like the base like she's in the basement of the hospital.
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like she's in the morgue.
Zach Sheets: It's like...
Chris Prime: i don't like And that's supposed to be like the the main corridor that.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: like an ambulance drop off to the OR is. It's just like the darkest hallway.
Zach Sheets: Mm.
Zach Sheets: And yeah, there's and there's also like a girl named Terry that showed up with the with this guy. And. So then Joey tries to fight like is trying to like find who she is and where she was. which it's Which, like, so Joey goes to, like, the the boiler room and, like, goes through, like, all the different areas. Everyone just keeps, like, pointing at her. Oh, good. Go to the metal club. Go to the restaurant.
Chris Prime: yeah everyone kind of tells her where to go
Zach Sheets: and she
Chris Prime: She doesn't exactly... like instinctively know. She just like gets lucky almost all the time.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: And then she confronts JP, but then... i she Like, she doesn't, like, Terry's, like, sitting right there, and she doesn't see, like, doesn't see her, doesn't acknowledge her. But then Terry, like, shows up later, like, hey!
Zach Sheets: i would like You were at the club. like Here, here's take this weird puzzle box. I'll tell you i ill just tell you what happened.
Chris Prime: Yeah, see okay. The way she went... goes to this club i thought she was actually meeting a real friend not just sort of asking around like have you seen this girl that's like Play a brunette. Cute.
Chris Prime: And then they keep pointing her. like, through like there of this whole structure.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: I thought I missed something where it's like maybe she met this woman before in the past or something. And it's like. Oh, you just guessed? You guys said that she's going to be here tonight like all the time.
Zach Sheets: a
Chris Prime: For all you know, she just went there like one time because then she left because. you know, if you saw someone get A visit to hell. Like.
Chris Prime: Not only did... he did visit like the hell world. He got sucked back out. And then. Like. horribly injured and then still tied to the... Hellworld, where...
Chris Prime: Okay, this is... I'm trying to think about the lore. Pinhead's not even in control of that world, so that just happened on his own. Right.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I'm not sure of the change, I guess. it's just like, Chains coming from... Like. Hell. Because Pinhead doesn't make his like appearance known until... quite a bit later like he doesn't actually like speak or like i think maybe he's he's like opened his eyes at maybe at this point or something but like he's still trapped in the pillar
Zach Sheets: So, yes, it's just, like, random changes with this, like, kid apart.
Zach Sheets: But then you find but yeah you find out Terry is a homeless. And be like JP's. ex -girlfriend because she like left him because he was like I guess pike because he's like sleep with like every other one that shows up in the club.
Zach Sheets: But then it's like, it turns like like like like a wacky sitcom where it's like, I'm your new roommate. I don't know how to make breakfast.
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like... I think... Isn't like... The girl's supposed to be something like... 20 or something like she's supposed to be really young because she ran away from home
Zach Sheets: Yeah. Mm -hmm.
Chris Prime: And it's like... I couldn't tell if Joey was going to be like a big sister or a mom, but it was like both.
Chris Prime: She was like, okay, I guess I'll like help raise you.
Zach Sheets: Yeah. and luckily Luckily, I live in this, like... insane apartment. It's like like a two -story. Like. luxury apartment in New York City.
Chris Prime: Yeah, no like, no wonder she probably has, like... look for a bigger scoop to get a bigger role because she went all in on an apartment that probably requires like Double income to support.
Zach Sheets: or Or is she just like independently wealthy and just like... I'm going to be a porter just as like a lark. I don't even care if I get paid.
Chris Prime: i don't know she doesn't have like rich family because her father apparently Like. was
Zach Sheets: Died in Vietnam before she was born.
Chris Prime: Died of Vietnam. Yeah. So that's like 20 years prior to this.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: yeah i'm not yeah i'm not sure if she's like a struggling reporter i don't know yeah i'm not sure how she's like reporting that like crazy apartment but and like in like like in manhattan like in the middle of the city like because they're like oh man look at this view
Zach Sheets: It's like it's like also like really high up. so'ss like Like yeah. I don't know how much rent that is, but yeah, a struggling reporter bike is not going to pay that. but But they're but but they start they both, like, Terry and Joey start investigating.
Zach Sheets: They managed to get all the files from... The... uh like the mental hospital from hell but however is it two they get all like all the like the medical files somehow Including a videotape that has like a cameo from Ashley Lawrence.
Zach Sheets: As Christy. Or Kirstie, who's like... Basically, like Sarah Connor from Terminator 2 just like yelling about, like, the deep but there's demons! They're out there!
Chris Prime: So did you just do that to the police station? They're just like. ran away.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I don't... i don't I can't remember if she ever comes back. I think she think she's just like... It was just the first two movies. Okay, I guess you, like... and In 6, she comes back, I guess. She has, like, a supporting role.
Zach Sheets: But that was like that was like the absolute like. like bottom of the of the series.
Chris Prime: Yeah, I didn't see sex Wait. but What was the like reboot one? that's not sick right that's
Zach Sheets: but That was just Hellraiser.
Chris Prime: Like... Okay.
Zach Sheets: But yeah, but yeah yeah so they they kind of they're they're getting more information, and then meanwhile... JP. uh is you know He's like still, he's doing like, he's like. Speak it up.
Zach Sheets: Girls' Club. And then. When he's like having sex with one of them, that's like that's what awakens Pinhead. He's just like, oh, what's going on here?
Chris Prime: Yeah, he like peeps and he he can recognize, like, pleasure, I guess.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: and that's what uh he gets in and he's like, oh, okay, hey, what's this?
Zach Sheets: And then he and he's a he like... throws chains out of the pillar and like sucks this girl that JP was sleeping with like into the pillar. and that's and and And it's kind of like they're setting up like a... it's the that's always this kind of thing where like you have to feed people to...
Zach Sheets: That, like... wherever, like, the Atagis is. Like, in the first one, they had, like... feed people to Frank. to like regenerate him.
Zach Sheets: So like Spinhead's like, you need to give me so I need souls. i need keep keep keep Keep feeding me souls. And and then when I'm... free and like taking over this world, I'll get i'll let you like... you have power You have power and pleasure that you've never known.
Chris Prime: rule hell, I guess.
Chris Prime: And.
Zach Sheets: and So.
Chris Prime: Okay, so like... JP. He sort of just does it because he's like, cool, Pinhead like promises me... like power And he already is like a power hungry.
Chris Prime: Business owner.
Zach Sheets: yeah
Chris Prime: Uh... Then you get like...
Chris Prime: Then you get Joey, who... Just sort of like... just wants to know more about this thing right like it it's It's weird because I think in the in the gaps of 1 and 2.
Chris Prime: It's like... Two year difference, right? Like, was this this immediately followed after Hellraiser 2?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I'm not sure how much time has passed between two and... This one.
Chris Prime: Okay. Now. I say that because that Demon statue. Or like the pillar of Pinhead was like left in Christie's house. It was just like...
Chris Prime: Because... Wherever they were, they were not in New York.
Zach Sheets: no Well, i think I think it was in... Uh... It was in, like, the doctor like Dr. Chouinard's house. The guy, like, turned he turned into, like, a Cenobite. in the second one and he was like the main villain
Zach Sheets: but it was It was in like his house that like theyre because they're like because he like you know turned to like he got ripped apart and sent to hell. so
Chris Prime: Hmm.
Zach Sheets: So like people the guys like it like like taking stuff out of his house like oh what's this crazy pillar
Chris Prime: Okay.
Zach Sheets: And it sounds yeah somehow it ended up in like this art gallery.
Chris Prime: I see.
Chris Prime: i kind of like I kind of forgot. how Pinhead traveled all around. You end up basically in New York.
Zach Sheets: Well, he I mean, he he if if you unlock the the... the lament configuration he just shows up he's like i'm here now you you unlock the puzzle box You saw that we came.
Chris Prime: And... Usually. when you unlock the box he's like okay i'll take it we'll take it to this health dimension like this mount this might seem horrible to you but for us this is just A way of life?
Zach Sheets: okay
Chris Prime: And they don't seem like they want to rule the regular human world.
Zach Sheets: No.
Chris Prime: It's just like oh unfortunate for you Especially if you didn't want this, this is worse. But if you wanted at this, this is fine.
Zach Sheets: yeah like you know like In the first one, they're like, we're explorers of the senses. or
Chris Prime: Yeah, that's true. It's just like hey you've unlocked I guess this new enlightenment of hell. Surprise. You thought it'd be. Not as painful. It's going to be very painful.
Zach Sheets: But now in 3, because he has no human... I asked back to him. Now he's just like. All pain, just like... Just like, murder everybody. that's That's my pleasure. It's killing everybody.
Chris Prime: Okay, so... Let's get into why Joey then becomes this like chosen one. Where even during the events of the movie, before she gets the limited box, she's having flashbacks to Vietnam. Like, a memory from her father.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, she I think it's she's... It's like she's dreaming of what she thinks happened to her father because he died in Vietnam.
Zach Sheets: its it's very It's very like platoon. where it's he just misses a helicopter taking off and he's like getting shot and they leave him behind
Zach Sheets: And she's like, no, don't leave him. He's there.
Zach Sheets: But then. In. So I think that happens like once or twice and then eventually like. uh elliot spencer shows up in a dream he's like Hey, I'm Elliot. Now we're on a World War I battlefield. i'm I used to be Pinhead.
Zach Sheets: But now I'm here to help you stop him.
Chris Prime: But, it you know. She doesn't know what a pinhead is. She hasn't met him.
Zach Sheets: No.
Chris Prime: She just meets this British dude that is something out of like Black Adler. And. He's like, okay, well. I dreamt about pain. I'm going to skip the part where I sold myself to... to like demons but Trust me, I'm the good guy.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I unlocked the puzzle box because little one really messed me up. And then I became this like. We're S and &M Demon, but... Now I'm now i'm just me again.
Zach Sheets: Also, I can't do anything. I'm in limbo. this is The stream world is limbo. I can't do anything. You have to bring him here.
Zach Sheets: And also if he if he gets the puzzle box and destroys it, then... that that he's That's it. get sent back to hell like he's just on earth and he'll just destroy everybody
Chris Prime: It's weird that If you... destroy The puzzle box, you just, whatever demon you brought out gets to stay.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: Usually you just throw the box anything it brings out it should go with the box It's such a weird like plot rule they're like that's why we can't just simply just run it over or blow it up We need to do a special trick where...
Chris Prime: It needs to like implode in itself, I guess.
Zach Sheets: I think it has something to do with like the different like the ways you can solve it or like transform it into different shapes and stuff like that.
Zach Sheets: like the normal the normal way of like unlocking it like it's just like it looks like the portal but then you find out like it's got different configurations later
Chris Prime: Yeah, I mean, I remember that in the... fourth movie and it's just like gets even crazier with the family of puzzle makers.
Zach Sheets: and then so yes wellled well joey is in then like the dream world with uh illegally kind of get like the the plot run down like terry goes back to JP because she heard a message.
Zach Sheets: on Joey's answering machine know like he's going to take a job in like Monterey. It's like, hey, congratulations on the job in Monterey, Joey. And then he's like. liar because like she was like yeah we'll we'll live here together forever
Chris Prime: This troubled teen is just sort of like, I thought I had a forever home with my new friend.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: That I just met, like... two days ago.
Zach Sheets: and also I've never dreamed I've never had a dream in my entire life
Chris Prime: And she didn't need like a... Place to sleep. She needed therapy.
Chris Prime: I mean, she needed everything, but
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Uh... The fact that you know this runaway girl is just... Like. I hate everybody. I got distrust. Everyone's lying to me. And it's like... I guess I'll go back to the guy that...
Chris Prime: Lies to me the most.
Zach Sheets: Yep.

Zach Sheets: I think it's just like, I have to keep, i like Elliot told me, I have to keep this box away from Pinhead. And then also. uh she has to lure him back to her apartment because the mirror is like a gateway to limbo
Chris Prime: It's supposed to be her? Like, apartment and in mirror, because... That's one of those BS things where... It's just that... to like heighten the urgency to keep the chase going.

Zach Sheets: And we also get... The... crazy music video. That was directed by Clive Barker. that features, uh, Lemmy playing poker with Doug Bradley in full like pinhead and makeup.
Zach Sheets: like like like let me just show something this is like underground gambling den that pinhead's in for some reason and it's just like we're playing poker now and it's like and then Lee wins and it's like... Pinhead just can't do anything about it because it's Lemmy.

Chris Prime: Yeah. It... in itself it's like an extension and of course this was just part of the marketing watch it because Hellraiser 1 and 2 was not known for its music.
Chris Prime: You know, it wasn't. It didn't have like a soundtrack that. had the musicians Or even a shot with them in it like this.
Zach Sheets: No, that was that was definitely and like like... I feel like... kind of the Nightmare on Elm Street kind of like, we gotta make this more... commercial. like We have to throw like... I mean, obviously you had a bunch of like metal music in it. Let's throw throw a bunch of metal music in this one.
Zach Sheets: But yeah. I think like. The last 40 minutes are... like what you what you expected what you kind of like want from this movie, but it definitely takes it takes stuff it takes a while like a while to get there.
Chris Prime: Yeah. I agree.
Zach Sheets: It's a little like... they could They could, like... Like, you know. quicken the pace a little bit to get to, like... the paid ad ramp page.
Chris Prime: Which... I think maybe the original cut made it seem like... That was gonna happen a lot. sooner? Because it's like... It's the trilogy the trilogy of any horror series where...
Chris Prime: the first two establish the first movie savages just the premise the second thing expands upon it slightly so it's like more of the same plus a little bit more Every movie can just swing and miss on connecting anything anything with the first movie.
Chris Prime: and then i think this is where they found out that you don't need to continue the like the legacy portions of the story This is just from Random You. Uh, person.
Chris Prime: who found the box and is doing things.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I mean... They they do they do keep some lore going, because, like isis like, it came right from 2, where, like, the pillars formed. And the fourth one... They go back to like the building that. is formed at the end of or like built at the end of this one it's like And that's like a key like location in the fourth one.
Zach Sheets: Because it's like it's like the they to so like the puzzle box is the whole building. its They have to solve like the floor. And analyzes the puzzle that unlocks the Lomet configuration.

Zach Sheets: So they keep they keep they keep it like they keep the storyline going. It's not just like... Oh, it's like a random... All right. That person found this puzzle box. Now that's like. here again.
Chris Prime: So, I mean, they they knew to read it in a bit, but yeah, I think after that, then they kind of lose the plot.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I mean, the first the first one is still obviously clear. The best one in the franchise. They kind of like, because that was like, I mean, obviously, Claire Barker directed it himself. and is obviously closer to what he wanted based on his Short story.
Chris Prime: I just... Want it more like. devotees to the pinhead thing where the club would have been an excellent breeding ground of joey starting his like own army of demonic followers I mean, not Joey, JB.
Zach Sheets: JP, yeah.
Chris Prime: But it it it never goes that direction.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, it would've been interesting interesting if he like yeah like like if he got the pillar and then like he got the club because he was like sacrificing people to Pinhead.
Chris Prime: See, that's what I thought. I thought the club gave them that already. Like, the having the... cube and sort of the pillar. He granted him like something beyond his control now he is doing what he can to have it you know the thing that he didn't really rightfully earn But it turns out he actually did earn it, he just wanted more.
