Zach Sheets: Hello and welcome to the Everything Action Cats podcast for the week of October 12th, 2026. I'm your host, Zach.

Chris Prime: Here we go. It's Chris.

Zach Sheets: And this week we're heading to Crystal Lake and talking about... Friday the 13th, Part 7, The New Blood. Because we have Crystal Lake. If you're hearing, this is out on Peacock and getting a surprisingly good reviews. Apparently it's like a pretty great.

Zach Sheets: uh, Fighters Prequel Show. And also it also kind of ties in because we got last week we got the new Carrie show on Prime Video from Mike Flanagan. And New Blood is basically Jason versus Carrie. So it's all all tied together.

Chris Prime: I mean it was the dream matchup. that people thought they wanted to see.

Zach Sheets: because it

Zach Sheets: it well they this This is like, they couldn't figure out the Freddy vs. Jason thing yet. so like What if... Uh... Jason fought like a psychic girl. That. That's that's cool, right?

Chris Prime: I mean, on paper it sounds fine, just because it's not supposed to be. You know. Realistic. So. Anything could happen in this franchise.

Zach Sheets: I guess it was like... One of the other ideas before they... settle on like like a second girl one was that There was going to be like a land developer showing up. and try to like build condos in Crystal Lake and then Jason would just like kill like all these people like they're like he's like All the people feel like it's like this like land developer company.

Chris Prime: So Jason's just like a land rights. person.

Zach Sheets: oh and then they were also well they were also like in the company's like covering up like the previous murders she's like oh we want to sell this land no one got killed here It's fine. But then Jason shows up goes up again and starts murdering everybody.

Chris Prime: I mean it's pretty funny to think that Uh... Crystal Lake is just like, oh, it's sought after real estate. so You know. Jason needs to defend that property.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, he's, I mean, he's like, you know, roams the the woods around. Okay. but Like... Don't go in the woods. It'll show up and kill you. Although, at the sort start of this movie...

Zach Sheets: Thanks to the the recap that we get from... At the beginning of this movie from part six. He is at the bottom of the lake because of Tommy Jarvis. was He was able to wrap up and change. tied a big rock to him and dumped him in the lake.

Zach Sheets: which it's it's fun when movies like used to do like the recap of like because it was hard sometimes you didn't see them on video or like it was hard like if you didn't catch it, like cable or it's been like years, like those in theaters, like, oh, right. That's what they happened. in The last one.

Chris Prime: No, that makes sense because it's... Like. YouTube wasn't a thing. you know There wasn't anyone making like a recap. So, like I said... Pretty good, like...

Chris Prime: Is this your first time? Is this your... Like... Did you watch this right after?

Zach Sheets: It'd be weird does if this was your first Friday the 13th movie. You're just like, umm I'm just going to jump in at 7.

Chris Prime: I mean, I guess.

Zach Sheets: See what this is all about.

Chris Prime: I mean, because it's like someone drags you to this.

Zach Sheets: I feel like it's it's also like it's odd that that like this one cares about continuity, though, because none of the other movies really... like I mean, some things carry over. Like Tommy Jarvis is like, you know, there's like a trilogy of Tommy Jarvis ones that keep... going but There's not a lot of story in between each one. it's just like There's like a new group of people and they're getting killed by Jason.

Zach Sheets: or Or at five, it's it's Roy, for the abyss driver.

Chris Prime: True.

Zach Sheets: But yeah, so that's that so Jason's sitting on the bottom of the lake, and then apparently seven years later is when this movie takes place. This is part six. According to Wikipedia.

Chris Prime: I think it's like supposed to be like... Two years after the last movie. or Maybe a year after the last movie?

Zach Sheets: Wikipedia says seven. Like it's it like. He was chained to the bottom of the lake by Time Driver seven years prior.

Chris Prime: No, no, no, but I meant like... in In the, like... Release window.

Zach Sheets: Oh, yeah. Yeah, six six was 86, and this was 88. Yeah, so two years. after

Chris Prime: And then it was like, oh yeah, that was seven years ago. So like... Does this movie take place in the future, then? Because they were all like based in the 80s.

Zach Sheets: Isn't it?

Chris Prime: Like they all have to make sense. In that time frame.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, i feel like I feel like each movie was like in the year it came out. like It's whatever your... The movie we came out, I was like, that's the year that the movie is.

Zach Sheets: But then this one's in the 90s apparently, maybe?

Zach Sheets: Although there is there's the other flat, so we get like the the recap of part six. And then... It starts with like another flashback. with. young Tina. who is like our our main character.

Zach Sheets: And. her Her father is like like an abusive drunk. Although it's it's weird when he comes out, he's very wearing like a cardigan. Like he's like an 80s yuppie.

Chris Prime: Yeah, it You think he's going to be some sort of like. Cabin.

Zach Sheets: Like, redneck with, like, a...

Chris Prime: Ready? Nick.

Zach Sheets: play out a shirt like half open like a beer belly it's just like a normal like 80s dad

Chris Prime: He comes out and he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa. That was just one rowdy game of chess.

Zach Sheets: I was watching the game. it's But yeah.

Chris Prime: Like, did Tina misunderstood? Uh... what was happening, you know, because... The mom is just like. Like, what? like Because the mom just doesn't even really care. You know?

Chris Prime: I mean usually any kind of crazy thing. Granted, right?

Zach Sheets: m

Chris Prime: Bye. In terms of like... how How traumatic her father just like. falling into... The Doc. yeah you know the mom doesn't go like oh she has power she's like that was a freak accident like did you even get the dad's body back

Zach Sheets: Well, there's there's a lot yeah there's a lot of stuff that like is not. like meant like explained or could use some more explanation because yeah like tina's dad comes out like she She runs out of the house because she's like upset because her her... Dad apparently like hit her mom.

Zach Sheets: And then she gets in a boat by herself, like pout like turns on the motor and like, it's like puttering out into like the middle of the lake by herself. And then her dad comes out and like, they're like doc, they're like elevated doc. And he's like,

Zach Sheets: Yep. yelling for her to come back and then she's like i hate you i want you to die and then like you're carry powers, ignite, and then She blows. close up the doc with her mind. and he And he falls in, but yeah like I don't think he gets like hit by debris or a anything. He's kind of just like...

Zach Sheets: Maybe he's unconscious underwater? I was wondering, like why did the mom jump in and like rescue him? like we trying to pull him out of the water. He just cuts immediately. He's like, oh, he died.

Chris Prime: Yeah, like... The movie really does make it seem like she did some like ultra carry thing, like blew up the dad with her mind or set him on fire, like fire starter.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: or Or even like... Turn him into a Jason? That would have been a twist where.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: It's like she cursed him with like. The, the like... Lake. curse of adjacent where He falls in and then becomes like. A myth.

Chris Prime: Uh, But.

Zach Sheets: he becomes like yeah like yeah He becomes like a leg zombie or something.

Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah, like like a swamp monster. Oh, like a lake monster, like I said. Uh... You don't even get that. You know, it's such a like.

Chris Prime: If you had to describe this, and then when you see it in action, it's like two different things because Yeah, I remember like... reading this on the box where it's like psychic power girl like you know she's got a dark past about her father i'm like Oh, cool. It's like the father also like the father of Jason or something.

Chris Prime: or Or like, is she part of the Voorhees bloodline?

Zach Sheets: See you.

Chris Prime: None of that comes up.

Zach Sheets: Nope. No. no

Chris Prime: Yeah. None of that.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, and he usually he he falls in, like maybe a piece of wood hits him in the head so that he's like unconscious, and then... The whole thing collapses, like which I guess is that that's supposed to be like, oh, it collapsed on him and he's dead. Like there's no way that we can get him out of that rubble. But then.

Zach Sheets: The mom just was like... Amanda like Tina's mom doesn't even try to like jump in and like rescue him she's just like Oh no, he's dead. You killed Tina.

Chris Prime: I mean, listen. 1987. They don't know what first aid was.

Zach Sheets: Maybe she was secretly like, oh good, he's dead.

Chris Prime: They're just like...

Zach Sheets: like he like he but He was an abusive asshole, now he's dead.

Chris Prime: it Maybe. be That's like. You know how long this weird yuppie abuse was going on for. Like every time you drink. And then. And then play chess. You just get handsy.

Zach Sheets: But then it's been haunting Tina for like her entire life because she's we cut to her as like a... Teenager? i don't I don't know how old she's supposed to be in this movie, but... she's She's been in therapy for a while under the care of.

Zach Sheets: Bernie Lomax himself, Terry Kaiser. as as As Dr. Cruise.

Chris Prime: Man, what a...

Zach Sheets: The worst psychiatrist in the history of the movies.

Zach Sheets: like his His entire thing is like, I'm just going to... like berate you and yell at you to like make your powers like manifest.

Chris Prime: Yeah We don't even get, like... his sort of plan. It's just sort of... He'll figure it out. He's just figuring out psychology as it happens.

Zach Sheets: yeah well he's just like oh you killed it's like you killed your dad like what are you gonna do kill me just like make her like totally upset so that she like moves things in her mind and then like he's like oh okay that worked

Chris Prime: That was going to do like.

Zach Sheets: Keep pushing.

Chris Prime: Bring her on TV.

Chris Prime: Try to make her like a... Like a TV star?

Chris Prime: like this is i' I don't get his plan of just like...

Zach Sheets: I hope the first...

Chris Prime: Oh cool, like we we can do this as like a gig on the road where I yell at you and then you move things with your mind.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, there's there' there seems like it's like... Like the mom finds out later, like. she like looks at his papers and that's like She finds something, but I don't think she ever says like what it is. She's like, oh. You're not helping her at all.

Zach Sheets: But then... It's like, is he trying to... is he Working for the military? Is he trying to turn away a weapon? is he Like... like He's obviously like trying to do something that's like not. helping her but then it's not really real what he is trying to do

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Be this. Maybe it's one of the main things that was cut from this movie.

Chris Prime: The plot. The plot of, like, what...

Zach Sheets: Yeah. yeah

Chris Prime: what his goal was.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: Which I feel like that's kind of important. You can't just... Have this. Like, secret. Villain. where his plan was to yell at this girl to enhance her power and then And what?

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: There's no goal.

Zach Sheets: Because he also has a recording of him... I pushed her today. She like moves she moved more objects. I'll keep pushing. to like Increase your power level.

Zach Sheets: And then they – so they're heading back to – The house? what they're like I guess certain they're like... Family, like. Lakeside House. because they didn't live there they like they they like went there on weekends or something it was like their like weekend house or like their like vacation house

Chris Prime: That's even crazy.

Zach Sheets: I Chris Lake.

Chris Prime: That means this guy got drunk. going to the lake like on the weekends just to yell at his daughter

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Zach Sheets: yeah but but but so they're So they're back they're back where like the father died, and then... Right next door is another cabin, and we got the typical group of, like, fried -in -your -teeth... like partying.

Zach Sheets: Teens? But like i we were talking before, like they're recording, like they're definitely not. high schoolers or like maybe in college or like young Like. early 20s or something.

Zach Sheets: i would I wouldn't call i want call them teens.

Chris Prime: No. They are. like... Not. close to that. teen movie where you watch that you're like that shows like me and my friends from high school Like...

Chris Prime: One of them is like... A stockbroker?

Zach Sheets: yeah yeah doesn It doesn't help that all of them are dressing like 80s business people. like they They're in khakis. and polo shirts and like melissa the mean girls wearing like pearls and like power suits and

Chris Prime: Yeah, like... Also... I don't think the party really introduced everyone because as the... movie goes on there's like more people at that party than we thought

Zach Sheets: Oh, I was going to bring it up. Yeah, like... There's like... Cause, Like, our our main, like, lovageous Nick shows up, and he's like, he's like, he's like, oh. just This new girl. This other girl's here.

Zach Sheets: I'm going to go, and like... like flirt with her and then like brings her to the party. But then... so it's like this this is scene at the party at night and then it's like next morning it's like Oh, there's like an entirely other couple here, like Ben and Kate, who just appear. they weren't there before

Chris Prime: Awesome. what it Wasn't that house like someone's uncle that we never see?

Zach Sheets: i think I think it's a Russell. the guy who's like wearing he's like has like this like sweater wrapped on his like like he wears like the sweater around his shoulders and like is with Sandra. when they go they but they go like the like they get killed at the lake after San Diego skinny dipping.

Zach Sheets: I think think it's in Russell's uncle's house. And he's like very anal about like, don't eat my uncle's food, guys. Come on.

Chris Prime: But we never meet the uncle, right?

Zach Sheets: Don't make a mess. No, he's just not there.

Chris Prime: Okay. So there's a thing where like. The movie also has a lot of side characters or just like one -off kills that Jason just bumps into.

Zach Sheets: hu

Chris Prime: Uh... Like. There is. Nick's cousin. All right.

Zach Sheets: Well, that's the whole thing. So like Nick's cousin, Michael.

Chris Prime: Yeah, that's it, Michael.

Zach Sheets: The... All of their all them are at this cabin because they're throwing a surprise party birthday party for Michael. and and hes so yeah And he's the last one. getting there because they want to obviously they want to all get there before him.

Zach Sheets: But then they're like the first ones to get killed by Jason because like they get they get... The car breaks down. It's like Michael and his girlfriend. or like stuck on the side of the road.

Zach Sheets: And then, yeah, Jason finds them. and And Jason gets released because Tina is like standing out on the dock. and then she thinks she senses like her dad she's like oh is is that my dad i said something in the water and so she's like uses her powers but then she actually breaks the chains that are holding Jason. and at the bottom of the lake and he's out. He's back out.

Zach Sheets: and I love his like his look in this one where he's just like... you can see like like the skele like his spine is coming out because like his skin is like, he's been underwater for seven years. whoses it's like his skin is like like degraded off and like he's like basically like skeleton hands and

Chris Prime: Yeah, he's more degraded and rotten. then before. and He's now more like a zombie.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Chris Prime: then... Uh... than, like, just a unkillable human. or you know like Or like a... or a Like a...

Zach Sheets: he's He's been a zombie for a while.

Chris Prime: Yeah, that's true. But like. It's weird because we we we don't define him as zombie. No one thinks Jason thinks zombie Jason. there are They call him that for him that he's more of a zombie, but...

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: He's something different. He's not mindless. Because he definitely has, like... He has more thought. He's undead, and I think undead's different.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. i think I think, like... Wikipedia for like the part six says that he's a revenant.

Chris Prime: Yeah, that's like an undead person.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. because because he got Because he got brought back by lightning, like Frankenstein style. like He got struck by lightning in part six. and Came back.

Chris Prime: Yeah, well, then then like...

Zach Sheets: And.

Chris Prime: Then he just hangs out in the water. End.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Chris Prime: He's just waiting to get loose.

Zach Sheets: Oh, i mean we haven't mentioned yet. So this this is Kane Hodder's first. Time is Jason.

Zach Sheets: Which I think is like probably one of the most important parts of this movie.

Zach Sheets: And then obviously he would he would be Jason until For like Everything through Jason X would be Kane Hodder.

Chris Prime: And he's the... He's the Jason I grew up with.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Chris Prime: And again, he does a great performance. like He definitely is a more action Jason that we've ever seen. He is more. the like lumbering hulking jason that i think everyone thinks of now You can't have Jason went without thinking that kind of build.

Zach Sheets: Yep.

Chris Prime: or movement Where. He kind of like walks like like a mix between a Frankenstein monster. In a, uh...

Chris Prime: Kind of like an action star. He does way more like... more In this movie especially, I feel like Jason grabs way more things off the ground. and think And like more tools.

Zach Sheets: well well Luckily, he found that. whatever that barn is that's in the middle of the woods.

Chris Prime: That's the fly barn.

Zach Sheets: that just has like a bunch of tools and like i feel like he's just like constantly going back and it's like oh what should i use now i use i already used like this uh These, like, hedge trimmers. Alright, I'm gonna use this, like, axe now.

Zach Sheets: like he's just like going back and like looking at the tool show like What should I use now?

Chris Prime: Yeah, he he definitely mixes it up. It's not like machete, machete. you know sharp object this is a Like... Oh, I think I'm gonna do this this time.

Zach Sheets: i'm not I'm not sure why he doesn't, like... Because he's like, you know, he's obviously right near the two houses when he comes out of the water. I'm not sure why he doesn't like... and immediately start going in the house and like killing everybody like he like wanders into the woods just like it's like hanging out in the woods like he like goes way out and then comes like works his way back in like because he like goes like to like the road in coming into like those two houses and like kills uh michael and his girlfriend and then like The two other like random campers that are like just hanging out.

Zach Sheets: So he's he' like, he's like taking out people in the woods. And it's like, now, now I'll go back to like the houses.

Zach Sheets: And also just leaves Tina, like Tina passes out and he just like leaves her there at the dock and then everyone's just like. What happened? And then, like, the Terry Kaiser is, like, gaslighting her, like, oh, that was a delusion. You're having delusions, Tina. You're making all this up.

Chris Prime: Yeah, so his his like, prognosis is... Saying that his her trauma and her powers are unrelated. or like they like he's okay He says something a little along the long lines of like...

Chris Prime: Yeah, like, whatever is going on, it's fake. Except for your psychic powers. We must harness that.

Zach Sheets: Thanks. the guilt The guilt of killing your father is causing you to have like these delusions. And you have to you have to forget, like... get rid of that guilt and then you can like week. fully utilize your powers.

Zach Sheets: But he yeah but he also he's like also using her guilt to like... make her upset and then when she gets upset that she like her powers get unleashed

Chris Prime: But... i I couldn't figure... Again, we still can't figure out the benefit. He's like...

Zach Sheets: Mm.

Chris Prime: We need to keep training your powers. But it's like, for what purpose? It's like, I don't know. Just to see where it would go.

Zach Sheets: I'm going to write a story about... I'm going to write like an a... I study about this. i can Get published.

Zach Sheets: I create a psychic warrior.

Chris Prime: Yeah, if they just said he thought he could have military applications and stuff, like that then we would have been like, okay, this makes sense.

Zach Sheets: If he's like secretly working for the government or something and it's like, oh, he told he told the government about this psychic girl.

Chris Prime: why

Zach Sheets: He's like, and then like's like I could turn to a woman for you guys.

Chris Prime: Well that and. He... Do they know what happened at that dock? like Prior to... Kate, like Tina. dropping her father in there.

Chris Prime: Because that... Is that before or after the last movie?

Zach Sheets: I mean, I think... i think her Her killing her father was before any of the movies. That was like a...

Zach Sheets: 10 like 12 years ago she was like Seven or eight, probably.

Zach Sheets: So, mean like... Like over a decade ago, probably. bla So it's definitely before Tommy Jarvis dropped Jason into the into the water.

Chris Prime: Wow, so he dropped... Like. This lake keeps getting polluted by just like people. being thrown in it.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm. So many bodies.

Chris Prime: So. I bring that up because... Like Jason's like a legend in that area. And I think this location is not that far. from Not too far from Crystal Lake. It's supposedly like the next town or something.

Zach Sheets: i mean I mean, I think it's on Crystal Lake. It's just like it's not like it's a it's different like part of the lake. It's not like... A campground? It's just like... these like two houses that are just like built next to the lake.

Chris Prime: Okay.

Zach Sheets: Because there's signs like... coming there's like you guys you see signs like oh crystal lake is five miles this way Or like 15 miles this way.

Zach Sheets: Because I think Michael and his girlfriend, like... like break down like right next to like like like or like they like they walk past like the crystal lake five mile slide or something so so yeah so just So Jason like walked like...

Zach Sheets: miles away from the lake. to like start killing people like and work our way back in.

Chris Prime: See, it's like... Why? is just because he's like, well, time to do my daily patrol.

Zach Sheets: I gotta get my steps in before I start killing everybody.

Chris Prime: Yeah, that's where I'm a little confused too. And I think but it's not really that. important because it's just like okay just more people for jason to kill

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Uh... I just want to know that like. He didn't. find someone because normally in those movies the whoever's Jason's target is like always telling people like he's out there. They're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, like.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Chris Prime: They always try to... Dissuade her. like dissuade the person that's like jason's there and they're like you're crazy Because if we're going, this is a direct sequel to, I mean.

Chris Prime: not maybe not such a direct sequel but it's supposed to be a follow -up to ports Part 6, where Thomas Jarvis You know was telling people Hey, this guy's there. And they're like, we don't believe you. And then I think like a lot of the.

Chris Prime: town sheriffs and police forces like taken out in that movie.

Zach Sheets: I think so, yeah.

Chris Prime: That should be like a thing where it's like. Oh yeah, the last time this happened, he he died on like... The same. Lake. That like That's the thing. All the events that happened. Did that take place in the same houses?

Chris Prime: Like Tina's parents, like I...

Zach Sheets: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's obviously, I mean, obviously this is where like the finale of Six took place. Because Jace is like sunk there.

Chris Prime: Yeah, it's the same. area.

Chris Prime: So... Like. Did they... Did they just forget that? He and his parents are like, oh, sweet. It's a sweet like discount to stay here. I wonder why.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: I feel like that i felt the big thing is like most the most them ever like almost is not from Crystal Lake. and right Has it heard anything like anything about Jason or anything?

Chris Prime: So I... paid

Zach Sheets: They're often out of town.

Chris Prime: Okay, so, like, they just keep suckering out of towners.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: I'm surprised Russell's uncle didn't tell him, like, oh, you like yeah, you can have my cabin, but like watch out for Jason.

Chris Prime: That's a myth. I was like, no, that happened seven years ago. Like...

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: He uh, he took out the cops.

Zach Sheets: i i talked to the police because it was like literally like right side outside my like on my dock there was like uh explosion like the like i said in fire by this kid named tommy jarvis

Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like... The town didn't pay for that. I paid for that. That was my doc.

Zach Sheets: I had to rebuild my dock.

Chris Prime: Yeah. That's what I'm saying, like... Huh. I understand that happened in another part of the lake. Or like... Maybe the neighboring, and then... you know,

Chris Prime: he washes up there or something like they do in the next movie. Uh... This isn't that this is straight up like. The same area.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: So... The uncle doesn't mention anything. Mom doesn't mention anything like she should have said, like hey, we don't come back here because of like a. What happened to your father and be like what happened to that killer?

Zach Sheets: Yeah, they only figure it out because... I don't know. I don't know if it's Tina's dad had like a book of like news clippings or like if Dr. Cruz had a book of like things, but like the rummaging, like later in the movie, like.

Zach Sheets: Tina and Nick are like rummaging through like the desk because they're trying to find like tina's dad had a gun so i'm trying to find her dad's gun and then she finds like the book of uh all these like newspaper clippings of like mass murder happens at crystal lake and she's like Oh, his name's Jason. Okay.

Zach Sheets: But she's seen visions of him. like she see Her psychic powers are letting her see like visions of Jason like killing people. But she has no like no idea like who who he is or like what's going on.

Chris Prime: Her visions, her psychic powers are weird. because... they're not helpful whatsoever they're just like this is gonna happen and she's like what does this mean it's like I don't know

Zach Sheets: Well, sometimes it seems like she's seeing... what's happening at the like like at the current time but then which She sees one of her mom later, and that's like a future vision. of like Because it didn't happen yet. It like happens eventually, but it's it's not happening at like... that exact moment.

Chris Prime: I'm saying this is like. Also lazy writing.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Because... they They also... Love to show. Like flashback. Uh... Tina dropping her father in the lake over and over again.

Zach Sheets: Yep.

Chris Prime: they like they show it once the beginning then like two minutes later they show it again it's like in case you forgot like I think he just ran out of film.

Zach Sheets: Well, they had that that that cool like rig where the dad like there was like the whole thing was wobbling with the dead on it. So they had to show that again.

Zach Sheets: is that Is that what she's like explaining to like Nick? of like because like it's like She like ran out of the party because she saw... Michael getting like killed in a vision.

Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah. It's like the third time they show the flashback.

Zach Sheets: And it. And then she's like, Oh yeah, like I killed my dad right over there. next like All right.

Chris Prime: I'm still into this.

Zach Sheets: Absolutely do it.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Yep.

Chris Prime: That's another thing. Everyone's like into it. Like, everyone's just like, yeah, yeah, it's whatever. You still want to, like... Do some stuff.

Zach Sheets: yeah no Yeah, no one's really concerned. michael michael never shows up no one's really concerned or it's like oh he's always late it's fine

Zach Sheets: no No one sees Jason emerge from the lake.

Chris Prime: Well, also Tina knows better than to just. spout to her new friends about like her visions because like they would not believe her

Chris Prime: Also, since we're talking about her new friends, so during that house party where... The most random group of friends I've ever seen. like Together.

Zach Sheets: I, I, i don't like I don't understand how any of these people are like, what this friend group is. like I feel like they're all all of them are friends with Michael. but then none of them are friends with each other.

Chris Prime: Which happens, you know, as you get older. You're just friends with someone, that's your in, and everyone else you're just like... I can tolerate them.

Zach Sheets: and My favorite thing, I love that Nick's there. like is He's Michael's cousin. He's just like, I don't know any of these people. like I'm just here for my cousin Michael. And then I love the dynamic of like. Melissa, who's the mean girl, is like trying to get with Nick.

Zach Sheets: And she's, just like, trying all these, like, trick for tricks, like like, trying to hook up with Eddie to make Nick jealous. Like, I really do not care. Like, I don't like you. Like, I don't care. Like, I'm not jealous. Like, I don't give a shit.

Chris Prime: I know. You can't be like, ooh, I'm going to hang out with the drunk. Like stoner guy.

Zach Sheets: so The sci -fi writer guy. but he's just like She's like...

Chris Prime: Yeah, that that's like our options.

Zach Sheets: Like, odd.

Chris Prime: Either like the drunk guy. Or the sci -fi writer movie guy who...

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: Is like. A hipster... Like. Art critic. Yeah, that turns women on in the 80s.

Zach Sheets: She's, like, on Eddie and, like, kissing him. But, like, looking over at Nick and, like, looking at him. He's just like, I don't. I literally do not care. like i i like tina i don't like you i don't know you

Zach Sheets: And then, yeah, but then it's like everyone kind of gets coupled up. I love just like like there's a shot like when when Jason finally comes back to the house, like he's like because he's like going around killing a bunch of like random people.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. He kills those campers, and it's like probably one the it's one of the best... like jason kills in the franchise where it's like the seat bag kill Is that the one girl? Like smashes against the tree with in a sleeping bag.

Chris Prime: Yeah, like, that's another saving grace about this movie is that... The plot is probably nonsense, but the kills are... Wily, like varied, and... Like. They're not all just like...

Chris Prime: Stabby, stabby dots.

Zach Sheets: yeah

Zach Sheets: Yeah, and there's's there's lots there's lots like like, you know... All time. fried -your -teeth moments in this movie. Like the theme bag, the like yeah the the fire stuff later.

Zach Sheets: the like when the window kills later. But i I love when, like, so jason after Jason's like killed all these, like... like Anyone who's, like, kind of, like, skated around the woods? Like... Before he gets back to the house, like... every Like literally every person in the house is like fucking each other. like It's like every couple is like yeah having sex at the same time.

Chris Prime: It's what you do, Zack, in the 80s.

Zach Sheets: it's almost like a

Chris Prime: It's nighttime. You pair up. You know.

Zach Sheets: it's so It's almost like a parody of Friday the 13th. It's like, oh, yeah like you know how there's a bunch of sex in Friday the 13th? Everyone's having sex at the same time.

Chris Prime: Yeah, but I think by the seventh movie you expect it where it's like, oh, it's the thing to do. it's Is it? Dark out. Okay, time to hook up. But... That's where... I'm saying like.

Chris Prime: This is not supposed to be like a team. like because they're all supposed to be like horny adults that should be like at school or At a job or something.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: But it's also the woods, so they're all like, I assume it's a holiday or something. Because it's not like a random Tuesday.

Zach Sheets: It's summer, yeah.

Chris Prime: Is it summer? I don't know. They're all wearing like winter clothes. Or like fall clothes.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: You know it's in like shorts. Everyone's in like like like khaki pants. and Like. like heavy, like, yeah, like. sweaters. is that like well sweat sort so like Sweaters tied around their shoulders.

Chris Prime: But that was the look. like People just ran hot back then.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, that was like the yuppie 80s look, yeah.

Chris Prime: So. that That's why I'm like, okay, I forgive like the fashion and some of the choices because... They just want to look cool. This is the 80s where like... Looking. cool was more important than being comfortable.

Chris Prime: So... Fine. I get. That. This could be summer. This could be fall. What I don't understand...

Chris Prime: Is like. how long they've been here. because it makes it seem like they've been here for like a week.

Chris Prime: Right? Like...

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Tina's there for like a surprise weekend for like. hardcore therapy because she got released from a mental ward.

Zach Sheets: Immersion therapy.

Chris Prime: Right, right. So she's like, all I'll spend time in my childhood home that like is really tragic to me. The doctor who's like, oh, we need to stay here. We need to like. sort this out. and like get you better in life.

Chris Prime: five days like five days or less it's like He's expecting, like, speed.

Zach Sheets: Or else I'm sending you back to the hospital is but his his threat.

Chris Prime: He keeps threatening her with that.

Zach Sheets: ye

Chris Prime: It's like but there's no like timeline. there it's like oh you got this weekend to but have a breakthrough or something

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: I mean, and then she's like she's obviously exhibiting powers. And then he's like, that's not good enough. And he's not freaked out. He's like. Nope.

Zach Sheets: said you said He set matches this book of matches on fire. I think we can go bigger. I think we do better than that.

Chris Prime: it's like what what what's your caliber like how many other psychics is this guy working with that this is like oh this is nothing

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Like. I guess in this... world psychic stuff is like Common? You know, and you're like, okay, that's... that's That's kids play.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. It's like, I've seen all i've i've seen all kinds of psychics.

Chris Prime: But...

Zach Sheets: You could be the most powerful one. You could be the Jean Grey of the Friday the 13th series.

Chris Prime: but right so i thought maybe somewhere in that kid party there's also another psychic that's like oh i'm also a psychic it's like what like oh you thought you were unique it's like

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: I just didn't specialize.

Zach Sheets: or Or some other power.

Chris Prime: it

Zach Sheets: oh Also, they all have powers. They're all X -Men.

Chris Prime: Yeah. It's just like. they put at the end of the movie there's a sign that's like An X.

Zach Sheets: It's like, I get... It's like, I can make fire appear. I can freeze things

Chris Prime: I feel like this could have been Dream Warrior. Like another version of you.

Zach Sheets: It could have been, yeah. I mean, they come out. Yeah, just like go full dream warrior with this. is like get give It's like Jason versus like a group of like superpowered people.

Chris Prime: So. Before we get too silly with it. Uh... Just because, like... the The, like... The fodder group, which is just the... you know, party house.

Zach Sheets: earth

Chris Prime: Everyone is like... Just sort of hanging out waiting for this birthday boy. And then. If not... that they're all just like oh who under high would hook up like one of the three guys here that aren't aren't in a relationship

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: It's like six women.

Chris Prime: But... Of the six, like three of them are really single.

Zach Sheets: Well, but...

Chris Prime: There's like...

Zach Sheets: Well, Bennett, Bennett catered a couple.

Chris Prime: Right.

Zach Sheets: And then. You got Melissa who wants to bang Nick. and and Nick could care less so she's

Chris Prime: But wasn't Melissa came here with someone else?

Zach Sheets: No, I think she is... I don't i don't know how Melissa's friends... Melissa seems to be the one like making fun of all of them and being like the bully to all of them. but like what she is but like why is she like friends with like them because she's like a

Chris Prime: Yeah, why how does she keeps getting invited?

Zach Sheets: A rich socialite mean girl. It's like, well, daddy bought me these pearls.

Chris Prime: Because I was a good girl.

Zach Sheets: It said I was a Pearl.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: you're Like, ugh.

Zach Sheets: And then, yeah, Eddie eddie who's... The sci -fi writer. You got. Uh... David, who's the stoner? And then Robin and Maddie who are like competing to sleep with David.

Zach Sheets: sort because they're both like oh david the stoner he's the highest one here I'm gonna sleep with him.

Chris Prime: Didn't the guy walk into a lamp or something? like

Zach Sheets: He shotgunned a beer, like, sloppily shotgunned a beer, and then Robin and Mayer are just like...

Chris Prime: Yeah, he spilled it all over.

Zach Sheets: Man, he's the coolest.

Chris Prime: it's like ladies Think better of yourselves.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: You don't have to live like this.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: I guess Nick's not an option because like he yeah he's obviously interested in Tina. So he's like, well, Nick's out. we got This is our two options left.

Zach Sheets: And yeah, and then... Yeah, then basically Jason shows up to the house. like everyone Everyone's distracted by like having sex with each other, so Jason just goes on a rampage and takes them all out.

Zach Sheets: Some fun kills. I i love the... Stabbing like a party whore in Kate's kate's eyeball. Because they think it's they needs Michael.

Chris Prime: And the thing is, we we... We didn't really get, like, a lot of time with Kate. She's in she's like mad at her boyfriend, Ben, because he... He made a... Went somewhere that she didn't like?

Zach Sheets: Yeah, yeah they were they show up, they like have an argument, then they make up, and then they're like... but then they're in the van having sex. They're not in the house in a bedroom. They're like, Let's let's have sex in the band outside.

Chris Prime: My thing is, was that? uh everyone's van or was that their van? That's kind of weird. Hook up in.

Chris Prime: Also, why are the only like minority friends like forced to make love in a van?

Zach Sheets: Was it?

Zach Sheets: Yeah. We're... did Did... Did Russell and Sandra show up in the van? Or is that like Russell's van or something, I think?

Chris Prime: See?

Zach Sheets: Because, like...

Chris Prime: yeah they're like they They even say, why are we sleeping in the van when we're all sleeping in the house?

Zach Sheets: Because I think...

Zach Sheets: Yeah, because they were like... they were like As soon as they got there, basically, they were like fucking in the van. And then Russell's like, well, it's like... Why would you? like what why Why are we in the house?

Zach Sheets: And then they go. to the lake which again we're trying to figure out what time it is i don't know if the lake's like freezing apparently it's not that cold because like sandra goes ski dipping And doesn't seem to be freezing at all.

Zach Sheets: But then Jason shows up like... But. Like, yeah, kills kills Russell, then... like a classic like jason teleport like i don't know how he ends up like he's on the shore And it ends up in the water on like behind Sandra. He's just like teleports instantly into into the water, under the water.

Zach Sheets: And then that it had to be like an homage to Jaws, right? Like the like shot under Sandra.

Chris Prime: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: It's like like like looking up in the water.

Zach Sheets: And then Jason like pulls her down and kills her under the water and drags her out.

Zach Sheets: And then the... One of the other great kills is... like she goes upstairs Like... Jason goes upstairs after killing David and then like you like he... Uh, finds finds robin in like the one of the other bedrooms and like throws out the window Which is like... it's a Frederick, he always has a thing with windows. It's either like Jason jumps through a window or he throws someone out of a window.

Zach Sheets: there's also like There's also, like, the like the thing with, like... Like... There's, like, the cat fakeout, which, like... Apparently there was a cat in this sp this house the entire time and no one mentioned it or like saw it.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: It was like, it was like stuck in a closet. And then Rob's like, Oh, a cat. Whose cat are you?

Chris Prime: I... Couldn't figure that out. Like, was there a cat this whole time hiding in the background I just did not notice?

Zach Sheets: just and like like It's been stuck in a closet for like who knows how long.

Chris Prime: Is the cat also psychically linked?

Zach Sheets: But you know it's a classic, like, like oh, i heard I heard something. What is it? And then the cat jumps out, or a cat gets thrown at someone. So that's like the... Classic horror movie freak, like fake out. And then, yeah, Robbie gets thrown out the window.

Zach Sheets: Which we were talking before like we started recording. like It doesn't seem like that would... Kill her. Because it's a two -story house. I mean, maybe she would break something. but like she's like just like absolutely dead when she gets thrown out the window but it's like,

Zach Sheets: It's grass slash like muddy ground. ground it's not like It's not like concrete. So. I feel like she probably would have survived that throw.

Chris Prime: She'd be injured, but she wouldn't be Dead.

Zach Sheets: And then Jason it would come out and obviously so smash her in the ground or something. or Do like a so sort of kilter.

Zach Sheets: But no, it's like the... the the window and the impact kills her.

Zach Sheets: But it it is it is one of the best like like window shots. like Someone gets thrown a window in the franchise.

Zach Sheets: Oh, and then also... Uh... Maddie, who's kind of the nerdy girl, and then she does a classic, like, I'm going to take my glasses off, and now I'm hot.

Chris Prime: yeah But she seems like she spends an like a long time.

Zach Sheets: yeah

Chris Prime: getting ready up there.

Zach Sheets: Mm.

Zach Sheets: And she's like she brought like a whole other outfit that she like brought just to be for like. Which you, like... made herself up. I guess. like like like Also like a power suit. A power dress and then... She goes wandering in the woods And then. Ends up at like Jason's like but like toolbared.

Zach Sheets: And I don't understand. that She. she is like stuck in the barn. but they managed to like crawl under the wall and like get out. But then she crawls back in. so Like, run away. Like, i don' what what are you doing?

Chris Prime: Well, she thought she could just like... hide in there if he's chasing her but jason's like like way too smart for that

Zach Sheets: if you If he, like, if he, maybe he she thought he'd left, it's like, i was I was hiding this bar and then he won't go he won't come back.

Chris Prime: Yeah. Is she supposed to be like the nerdy? one right like in a classic

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: story. You have that one friend who's supposed to be like... Not the loser, but just sort of like the frumpy friend who...

Zach Sheets: a

Chris Prime: You know, like, no one wants me. I'm surprised she gets killed this late in the movie.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.

Chris Prime: And I think the second Friday 13th movie. There are multiple characters like that. And they are killed, like... Pretty fast.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Because there's no like no one is looking for them

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: Like when she is killed, no one like calls for her.

Zach Sheets: It's like, oh, what happened to Maddie? it Was she upstairs? I don't know

Chris Prime: Yeah, I didn't.

Zach Sheets: but

Chris Prime: i It's been a while. No one like. I had to like. look up the character's name i was like who was that

Zach Sheets: Yeah, it is. I mean That's that's like a frightening thing in all the movies. It's like it's hard to... like because all like Most of the characters are so... like They might have one one personality quirk, and that's it.

Zach Sheets: And it's also good. It's like hard to remember all their names but because they're all just like cannon fodder for Jason. like this like gut kill.

Zach Sheets: I like... this movie has like at least some of their most of them are like are kind of like they have like a kind of an interesting quirk like oh and he's like and he's like constantly talking about sci -fi stuff or like his my novel he's writing a

Chris Prime: Yeah, but his thing was just like... making everyone get turned off.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: It's not like, oh, cool. Tell me about your favorite, like. play. Or...

Zach Sheets: Everyone's just like, oh shit, and he's doing his he's talking about sci -fi crap again.

Chris Prime: Oh, was he talking about like his... own unique sci -fi story or just generic sci -fi

Zach Sheets: i think i think he's writing a story I think he's writing his own sci -fi epic. he's he's just like trying to tell everyone like and then The Cromula has come from the... Remulak system.

Zach Sheets: and then

Chris Prime: Oh no.

Zach Sheets: And I'm just like, oh, God, no.

Zach Sheets: Shut up about your story, Eddie.

Zach Sheets: But yeah, that's... then that's that's a Jason like like he goes through everyone in that house Like That's like a... Within like. 15 minutes like everyone's dead. like he's easy like that's like a like a quick rampage it was like everything in the house is dead basically

Chris Prime: Yeah, like he kind of kills them too quick. There's no buildup where... There should have been a scene where half of them are alive and they kind of do like a head count and then go, oh God, what's happening?

Chris Prime: They don't do that.

Zach Sheets: Hmm.

Chris Prime: It's just like, everyone's just like, Hey, where's this? What? And then killed. And then maybe Tina's the one that has the vision, so she sort of has like a... Guess what's going on? But until she discovers the body, which I think that's where Nick and her discover Michael.

Chris Prime: Who's been there for like a day.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, well... Well, theyve they theyve ran it like Tina overheard. like their crew's like threatening like like her mom was like confronting her and then he's like well i'm gonna send her back to the hospital and then she's like runs off or like because Or she she hears, like, oh, Dr. Cruz isn't trying to help her. He's trying to do, like, whatever he else whatever he's trying to do.

Zach Sheets: So since she steals like a car and crashes it into like a tree.

Chris Prime: Yeah, her plan is to freak out on the road.

Zach Sheets: And then.

Zach Sheets: Cause you could. I think she has a vision of Jason killing her mom in the middle of the road. crashes in the car. and Yeah, and then Nick nick goes off to, like, fight her, and then they fight Michael together.

Zach Sheets: and then tina's like we'll have to find my mom because like she's like i had a vision of like this guy killing her And then they get the great, like, Dr. Cruise and... Tia's mom and Amanda are like, wandering around the woods. And then... They get.

Zach Sheets: Jason finds them. End. Like, Dr. Cruise is, like... completes his arc of being like the worst psychiatrist in the history of movie so that he shoves amanda in front of him as like a human shield So Jason kills her, and then he like runs left.

Zach Sheets: He's like, well, I'm i'm i'm good.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Take her, not me.

Chris Prime: Well... That's another thing. This movie kind of gives you the hint of what's going to happen. and Instead of like... Like... The mom kill, the early, like...

Chris Prime: Preview of it on the road Plays out. kind of close but i like that it's not just like a lazy Like. Edit. From the... scene it's like an actual like they kind of recreate it

Zach Sheets: Yes it's not it you just like cut the scene From later and like but like edit put it in there it's like a vision it's like and it's a new like jason like Kane Hodder and Susan Blue are standing in the middle of that road.

Zach Sheets: like

Chris Prime: Shot on camera, right. but Like.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: there's There's another vision she has, and it's just like... A scene from later in the movie.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: But then I do like Dr. Cruise doesn't get his comeuppance to like he gets like the. it's like the we It's not a weed eater. It's like like a hedge trimmer. Like... to like is Like, Jesus cuts him in half with like like a...

Zach Sheets: Hedge trimmer.

Zach Sheets: Which I kind of, I i mean, that's like one of the MPA things. I wish we like saw that like going into him, because they like he deserved like the full, like... gory comeuppance it's a lot of stuff is like off like Jason will swing his like a sword like a machete or something and you don't see it go in

Chris Prime: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: But he's like cut to like the person like falling down.

Chris Prime: Yeah. Like... Granted. you don't need to see a lot of gore for everyone else but for his character who you kind of really hate You want to see that play out. Like that's more satisfying.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: They should have banked more points into his death. then Spreading out for like. I don't know, like quick cut visuals where it's like Jason's hand goes against someone's mouth and they're dead.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Again. i can't figure out the rating system they were like no that's too violent It's like people will try to imitate that. It's like people will try to imitate this.

Zach Sheets: i think I think it was just, like, a build -up. Like, it's been, like... The NBA has just been like... was was like out to get the fighter teeth franchise for like years And this is the this is one of my fans were like,

Zach Sheets: No, if like cut cut a bunch of stuff where we're going to give you an X rating. And they're like... Alright, fine.

Chris Prime: It is weird that like. They're just like, no. we Like... Whoever's in charge of that company. I think now it's like it'll be very hard for them to. Like...

Chris Prime: censored movies to this degree. If the movie was just like, we'll just be on rated. And just be on Trade to DVD. We don't care. You know, like.

Zach Sheets: All right.

Chris Prime: they couldn't come after them and be like, oh, we can't give you like a public release. Like, yeah, tell people that. That would be great. that's good marketing it's like this movie is so like weird it's you know, the The rating system refused to even like review our movie.

Chris Prime: That would have worked. in their marketing. But I don't know if that's what it was back in the day. They're saying like, oh, like this movie is too gruesome for you to see.

Chris Prime: A studio would have done that.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Nowadays, they do it like... I don't think people care as much

Zach Sheets: I think 4 might have had like a similar thing. like not Not as bad, but I think... Because as cause Tom Savini came back for four, because obviously Tom Savini worked on the first one. And they came back for four because four was supposed to be the final one.

Zach Sheets: I think he came up with some, like, some, like, crazy like practical like kills and effects and stuff and then they like cut a bunch of them because it was too it was like less too violent Like...

Zach Sheets: There's test footage of like that. and i there's much There's a bunch of like test footage from this but do if if you look it up. like what the like the full scene was. but it's like It's like a very bad work print. I don't think there's like an actual... like any sort of print they could like use to make like an uncut version of Part seven.

Zach Sheets: But then you're like... I like. There's like a... like the 2009 i think release of Part 7. like like we were on your dvd or whatever it was there's like a it shows like here's the uncut here's like the work print And then here's like the scene in the movie.

Zach Sheets: And there' there' and there there's like like a ton of stuff. like cut like it's It's like extra, like... Dialogue scenes too, but also like... a ton of like more like the the kills like way more like violent Like. you see like a lot more of what Jason's doing.

Zach Sheets: But there's I mean, there' there's still there's still. Okay. some... some fun like kills in this movie just like it's just not as like As crazy as it could have been.

Chris Prime: Right. But. You know, we've been talking about this for so long now, we failed to mention that Tina has not done anything cool with her powers at all yet.

Zach Sheets: I think she's like, yeah, she's like throwing a TV at Dr. Cruise at one point. i was like And then like... Like blew up some light bulbs.

Chris Prime: That's it. You know, like the whole premise, I thought maybe throughout the movie, it's like a cat and mouse game of her like. throwing things and then making like distractions for him and hiding.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: We don't even get that.

Zach Sheets: Well, until until the like until like the finale, which is like... uh She finds her mother's body and then like it's like, oh, Jason killed him. And then she's like... kind of like that's like fully like unlocks her like well i like got i'm i'm fighting jason now like you killed my mother so then

Zach Sheets: She managed to like. wrap some trees around him. And then... Like... Pulls like and like a... a power line down and like, let's get him. what you could see me like a puddle

Zach Sheets: But then... It seems like Jason just gets powered up by electricity, it seems like, because that's how he got like he came back in Part 6.

Zach Sheets: It's like electricity powered him up, so that guy's just like... but Probably made him stronger.

Zach Sheets: It's like power line electrocution was like. It's like, oh, he like we got him. It's like, nope, he's back. he's He's even more mad.

Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like... He already came back from... The dead from... a lightning bolt and then psychic awakening which I don't know. how that really worked. It's like, did she loosen his chains and he was able to break free? Or did he, did she like. drag him up by accident.

Zach Sheets: Mm.

Chris Prime: But... Yeah, no, he's like way more unkillable now.

Zach Sheets: Oh, she also drops like part of the house on him, too. which But like he like obviously just shakes that off and gets up. And then they go to like, they're in like. you know, Tina's house.

Zach Sheets: And. Melissa's there and she's like she doesn't she doesn't believe any need like what they're saying she's like they're like there's a guy out there killing you everyone's dead she's like I don't believe you guys

Chris Prime: Is there like blood?

Zach Sheets: And then.

Chris Prime: Oh, no, this is. her play so it's totally fine it's like

Zach Sheets: Yeah no no one no got no one got killed At Tina's house yet it's all It was all next door And then it's like, they's like don't don't go over there. Like, everyone's dead. He's like, well I don't believe you. I'm going to go.

Zach Sheets: I'm going to go to bed. like Then Jason's in the doorway like... chops her like chops around the head with an axe.

Chris Prime: See, that that's another character we want it more like comeuppance because she has been great to the protagonist.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, I feel like we'll definitely need like a like a bigger... like Death. uh kill is instead of just like a quick axe to the face

Chris Prime: I'm surprised she like she didn't get strangled by her pearls or something.

Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm. Oh, that well, that was one of the other things that Tina did. was like like you like She like broke her pearl necklace with like her powers.

Zach Sheets: Because they were making fun of her. Because like they had like they had the Eddie like... wrap his like military jacket around himself like a straight jacket he's like is this what the new look is at the metal hospital tina

Chris Prime: It's so like... Yeah, like... everyone kind of deserves it who's part of that like joke

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: But yeah, not everyone, everyone exactly. because uh Like...

Zach Sheets: Well, no one i mean no one no one's... Except for Nick, like, no one's particularly a nice to Tina. They're just like... Oh, this weird girl from next door is here. All right.

Chris Prime: Well I mean she's a stranger.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: So I get that.

Zach Sheets: But I feel like... I mean i mean i feel like they're all kind of like strangers to each other. because it's like

Chris Prime: yeah that's true

Zach Sheets: the the only the only The only link is Michael. And he's dead. He's been dead for... hours or

Zach Sheets: but then But then like when Jason shows up at Tina's house, then then it's like finally. it's like, the jason versus carrie battle because then she like is fully using her powers she's like throwing She's like closing doors on him and like throwing stuff at him. and blow blowing up stairs.

Zach Sheets: causing him to fall down the stairs. and

Zach Sheets: Eventually gets him into the the basement and then... but then he pulls her into the basement and but then She's able to... uh like use like a like turn like a guest can into like a like of a hose and like spray some the gas And then. causes the furnace to, like...

Zach Sheets: like uh blow up and like engulfment flames which is like The... teen hotter got the the world record for like the longest like on -screen burn For like 44 seconds.

Chris Prime: It's pretty cool.

Zach Sheets: and that that's That's an awesome shot of like when he like first gets in a fire. hes And it's just like... and then is he's like is like yeah it's like the slow -mo jason on the fire and like kind of running around

Zach Sheets: and then this but then also that's like somehow causes like the whole like house to blow up In like a like massive explosion. like It's just like the entire house is the disintegrated.

Zach Sheets: I don't know what else was going on. She like... pulled a gas line or something. Again, the house explodes like it's an 80s action movie.

Chris Prime: Yeah, it's it's like a... It's like... the big thing that makes it worth seeing for this movie.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: Uh... it It earns it, though. Because... Some scenes, you're just like, oh boy. Here comes the psychic scene. Is Tina going to... probably do something besides scream and run away.

Chris Prime: And it's like, okay, now it's... Actually, Nick that does a lot of the work.

Zach Sheets: but then it's like but then it's like this still wasn't enough to stop jason like he exploded in a house and he's still like he bursts out he's like still still there And then we get, like...

Zach Sheets: i think I think probably the craziest way they've they've stopped Jason is in the Fright of Teeth movie, which is... Tina. is on the dock. And then. She uses her powers to... Summon... The...

Zach Sheets: like, zombie body of her father. to burst out of the like like lake and drag Jason into the lake with him.

Chris Prime: Well, and the dad is perfectly preserved. I don't know what's up with this lake.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, he I mean, yeah, he is not. Like. decomposed at all. i like i I don't know if I'm not sure if it was his actual body or if that's just, like like like like, a spiritual manifestation or something. But, like, I mean, I guess it's physical as he drags Jason into the water with him. but like Yeah, I feel like he should be like a lot more. Like, he should be a skeleton man.

Zach Sheets: Or something.

Chris Prime: But we still don't know.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: like It's been seven years since Jason got dragged in there. Then it's been like. 13 years or or more?

Zach Sheets: Yeah, maybe close to like 20 years.

Chris Prime: 20 years.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: i Like, like, and like No. Did I just, like, say anything or, like, acknowledge Tina? He just, like, jumps, like, grabs Tina. Like, Jason is, like... Alright, back in the water.

Chris Prime: Yeah, that definitely was like... a note on a script it's like what if the dad came back and it's like Okay, and that that's it. Like, no explanation, no... no idea of like how it fits into the overall like story it just it looks cool But it makes no sense.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. And then it's like, is the dad just holding him like Jason, like under the water until.

Chris Prime: The next movie?

Zach Sheets: Like he gets to the next movie? Yeah.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: because I wish we had a shot like underwater. like Because obviously in the Land of Six, we got the shot of like a Jason underwater in the chains. I want a shot of like... like tina's dad that's like having putting jason in the headlock just holding underwater

Chris Prime: Uh. i knew Remind you now. Yuppie dad.

Zach Sheets: Yes.

Chris Prime: Holding down this like. Revenant. underwater in the same lake that he was before.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Zach Sheets: superhuman killing machine Jason Voorhees is like being held like Headlocked by an alcoholic yuppie dad.

Chris Prime: Who probably is still drunk?

Zach Sheets: Hmm.

Chris Prime: Because he's like... His clothes aren't rotting. He's just a little more gray, but it seems like it was. film that he he looks like he was taken out of the same night from when he was like taken into the lake.

Zach Sheets: I think he's got like a couple little things on his face to be like. Look, he's rotting. He's got, like... like one or two black spots on his face.

Chris Prime: Oh, but it's the most minimum. Like...

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: effects to show that Like. Something's happened to him.

Zach Sheets: i guess I guess if he was, like, so a rotting corpse, like, that would just, like, push Tina over the edge maybe or something. It's like, oh, no, I saw my dad back, you but he's, like, a rotting corpse.

Zach Sheets: like I love you Gina!

Chris Prime: I mean, you did this to me, but I love you

Zach Sheets: i will I'll hold this guy this this this chasing guy underwater.

Zach Sheets: i don't even think like how deep is like the like the spot where like jason got like sunk and then where's the dad's holding him i don't think it's i don't think it's i think you'd like dive down probably and see him With like... Not even like like a scuba tank. like You just hold your breath and swim down, and you're like, oh, there's Jason.

Zach Sheets: Because then, cause then like at the beginning of... She sticks her head and it's just like an an anchor. I think like... hits an electrical cord and then that like juices him back up and he's like he's back

Zach Sheets: which yeah electricity is like jason's like is like his like it's like his spinach like if he's like he's like oh man i'm yeah i'm super powered

Chris Prime: Yeah, like... You would figure by now. You would need more than electricity to bring him back from the dead.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: But... He just gets a little, like... Static. Shock and he's back.

Zach Sheets: And then Nick and Tina survive. So there's like two survivors at the end of this one, which I think is kind of like, it's like the one girl, that's it.

Chris Prime: Well, yeah, because Nick did a lot. He pulled his weight.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. Yeah, he's I mean, he's like... He's like... one of the most like Uh, Like straight up like. Like, friends with dudes. He's just like... He's he's like...

Zach Sheets: like he's not trying to like sleep with tina like he's not like like like we should like go and go to the bedroom like Fuck or whatever. It's like... Oh, I'm i'm i'm interested in you. like i'm I'm listening to like you're you dealing with trauma. and like i'm I'm not like judging you that you killed your dad. I'm helping you like go find your mom. like I mean, if I didn't use this party.

Chris Prime: He's a really nice guy.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Doesn't he say he used to roam a bad crowd? Like he used to be a criminal or something?

Chris Prime: he Yeah, he brings up that like he has a dark past. We're like, uh -oh. And it's like, yeah, I got over it.

Zach Sheets: Yep.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, I work on Wall Street now. I'm an investment banker. i know That's how I know all these other like douchebags.

Zach Sheets: But yeah. this This one, like... i would I would definitely put this like right smack dab in like the middle of like the... the the series like it's not it's not one of the best it's not one of the worst it's like right in the middle

Chris Prime: Yeah, that's like... Interesting ideas that they do lay out here. We kept mentioning that the kills are... Pretty interesting for...

Chris Prime: what this This is. I think. That if this was. Uh... using more of the premise of a psychic girl. I think that would have been the next level of the sprite. 13 uh, situations where.

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: it's like okay not everyone is just a regular person like there's always a one out of Six chances that. One of my psychic powers because that's just it's established now

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: And that's like. a See, like that's the fantasy about... the The world is that like. Jason is not the only like supernatural thing out there. I like to think that it's not you know there's other things that... That could take on Jason. With, uh...

Chris Prime: with enough planning

Zach Sheets: Yeah, it's it's weird that like a lot of people are like... Like. The fact that there's like a Carrie psychic girdle, it's like that's like that's like too far for them. It's like, it's like oh, I can... i can like jason being a zombie like undead like Kill you. Killing machine zombie is fine. A psychic girl with telekinetic powers, that's like that's too crazy for me. That's too ridiculous.

Chris Prime: That's a little weird.

Chris Prime: You know what I mean? Like, it's a horror movie. you you cant you can If they they establish it early...

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Chris Prime: that it's going to be. like a different tone. But some fans, they want them to be like very helpless teens.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, and we've we've already established that Jason's back from the dead. and he's like He's like a zombie killing machine. like i like I think it's probably... Yo. Anything could happen.

Zach Sheets: But if you like, like, 1, 4, and 6 are probably... the three strongest ones in the franchise.

Zach Sheets: It played...

Chris Prime: One. I like two.

Zach Sheets: Shoot.

Chris Prime: Two I grew up with a lot.

Zach Sheets: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: I mean... Sami Jarvis trilogy is is is like pretty strong.

Chris Prime: Yeah.

Zach Sheets: Even though 5 is you know the fake Jason.

Zach Sheets: But there's still a bunch of like fun and stuff in that one.

Zach Sheets: And then then, like, three and eight are i definitely, like the like... bottom of the barrel.

Chris Prime: But three is the one where he finally gets the best, though.

Zach Sheets: Yeah. It is, but then it's just like... That's like the worst cast. like no no No one's memorable in that movie.

Chris Prime: True. True.

Zach Sheets: Oh and also like Jason then jason X and like Uh, jason goes to hell

Chris Prime: Oh yeah. Which some people didn't like Jason Goes to Hell, but I like Jason Goes to Hell.

Zach Sheets: It's just, it's it's it's so... Different. Cause it's it's like, it's. I mean... It's Jason, but then it's like Jason is a like demon that possesses people.

Zach Sheets: But that one had all all the fun, like, other, like... like Basically, like, setting up the, like, evil dead and, like, fighting... Nightmare on Elm Street also exists in this in the same universe.

Zach Sheets: Because it's like the Necromanticon shows up and like the Fray's Club at the end.

Chris Prime: Yep.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, and and and and definitely excited to check out Crystal Lake on Peacock. neither of us have seen it yet but it's getting really great reviews so I'm definitely going to try to check it out so soon at some point here

Zach Sheets: I think it's, I think it's all eight episodes are up right now. So you don't have to wait for, you can just binge the whole thing.

Chris Prime: I was in Mexico and like... they were already promoting it there

Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.

Chris Prime: There was a lot of like promotions for it in Spanish.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, it seems like it's like the best thing that's happened to the franchise in a long time, or like a the year or so.

Zach Sheets: But yes, I think that'll wrap it up for this week. Come back next week. We got Clay Facing Theaters, and we're going to be talking about another... killer actor, Vincent Price in the cult classic Theater of Blood.

Zach Sheets: Which is a... Absolutely insane movie. Which I think... i mean you You haven't seen that one ever, Chris?

Chris Prime: Have not.

Zach Sheets: Yeah, so I watched it like a year or two ago and I was like... Wow, this is bonkers. So we'll dive into all that next week. Just. Vincent Price is doing like multiple characters. and Accents. and

Zach Sheets: it's it's it's it's it's it's It's a wild ride. And then, uh, how do we sleep? We all ahll use something. We got news or for use trailers. Tons of trailers. I don't know, like... It was weirdly not. at a comic like not on your comic con there's only like two or three shows like Comic -Con, but like...

Zach Sheets: Just like the last week or so has been like just. like two or three shows a day. yeah like beekeeper 2 and Like. Yeah, just like a bunch of other... Oh, the new Narnia Netflix movie that's coming up?

Zach Sheets: Thanks. but A bunch of stuff coming out. trailer -wise. and i'll your stuff that Oh, I got also have a review of a VHS mixtape, which is like probably... one of the weakest entries in the VHS franchise. You can review that over the site.

Zach Sheets: probably Probably the worst one since VHS viral.

Zach Sheets: So all that's up on the site. However, check all that stuff out. And yeah, so for Chris, I am Zach, and we will see you next week.
