Introduction and Sponsorship Changes

00:00:14
Speaker
Good evening, good morning. Wherever you are, wherever you're listening, this is Stone by Cornbread. I'm one of the show's hosts, Blake. This is, I guess, now an unofficial League of Hard Knocks podcast, and we're no longer sponsored by one of our two sponsors. I believe we're still sponsored by Rank Construction, so shout out Rank Construction. I got some feedback that this intro segment took too long, so we're going to go over what the show is about, and then we're going to start the show.

Episode Content Overview

00:00:39
Speaker
This episode will feature a week two recap, a week three preview.
00:00:44
Speaker
what happened in the league match-ups that have already occurred and match-ups to occur. A little waiver wire recap going through the offers report. Rob is joining the show today. Rob is going to ramble. We're going to have a section for Rob's ramblings. And part of that will be breaking down which NFL coach, either past or present, represents current league members. It should be a really fun segment. On the latter half of the show, we have to address it.
00:01:13
Speaker
group chat, recap, radicals, rationals. A lot of words getting thrown out there. And I would like to take this time to just say that I'm sorry. I'm working on it. I've heard the feedback. I am a pot stirrer. I'm not a victim. What I do is intentional. I get entertainment out of it. I'll try to get better. I will get better.
00:01:44
Speaker
Finally, we're gonna do a little league analyzation to cap the show and find out what's up with Rob's name change. So thanks for tuning in. We're gonna hit the intro song. Rob will join us on the backend. How are we feeling?

Week Two Recap and Highlights

00:02:12
Speaker
Happy to be on the pod.
00:02:15
Speaker
Feeling good. Feeling good. League's been a little, a little irritable lately. So irritable is a good word. It's a good word to describe it. It's a good word to describe it. Let's break down. Let's break down what happened in week two, Rob, because we're about to put week two in the rear view, but we had some separation. We had some teams go to O and two. We have.
00:02:44
Speaker
A typical league of hard knocks start, in my opinion, after two weeks, like pretty even across the board. What stuck out to you about week two? Any specific match-ups, any specific results? I'll just go ahead and get this out of the way. With Pacheco breaking his tubula, I definitely lost the trade with Andrea. But nothing sticks out to me more about week two than injuries. It was just absolutely brutal.
00:03:16
Speaker
maybe a little bit of rotten luck, you could say. So I would say that. I'm sure there's a few people out there who literally lost six starters this week. It was a brutal, it was a brutal week for injuries. I think what's interesting though is a lot of these injuries, there doesn't appear to be a clear person taking over their role. Like we talked about Pacheco, for example,
00:03:46
Speaker
It's really up in the air who's going to get his share of targets and his share of carries. They just signed Kareem Hunt. They still have CEH on IR. Jake spent a lot of money and we'll get into the offers report on the, uh, it's the guy with the pet alligator, right? Carson Steele. Yeah, what a great name. And of course he has a pet alligator. Uh, and then there's, there's Perrine just lurking there.
00:04:13
Speaker
So that's a great example. This isn't like there was really a good handcuff for Pacheco. And I feel like that was most of the injuries. There's not necessarily a really easily replaceable handcuff. Take the Texans backfield, for example. Joe Mixon is iffy with an ankle. I've heard rumors that maybe Cam Akers is going to get the carries out of Houston. So it could go a lot of different ways.
00:04:38
Speaker
Just going through some matchups, Rob, from week two. I'll just break them down really quickly. West Hillbillies moves to 2-0. 133 over the bomb squad who moves to 0-2 and falls to 10th. He only scored 73 points this week. You fell to a team who has no name, which was Larry.
00:05:01
Speaker
121, uh, your new team named the Amish. We probably need to dive into that in a second here. 86 points white rhino falls to Owen to the norm.

New Orleans Saints Analysis

00:05:13
Speaker
Also Owen to, uh, and a close one with this move moves who moves to two and Oh, one Oh five to one Oh one. The bandwagoner absolutely rolls league high score this season. It's early 148 points takes down
00:05:28
Speaker
A very different AJ team who only put up 74, just a bunch of old men. AJ moves to one and one. Finally, I took down the chef, 105 to 74. I moved to one and one, chef moves to O and two. Anything crazy, anything shock you out of those results, Rob? Camaro shocked me this week.
00:05:51
Speaker
Alvin Kamara putting up a 40 burger, the first 40 burger of the season. The Saints are shocking me just period. I want more of the Saints and I don't have any of the Saints. So, didn't see that one coming. Derek Hart. You know, the Saints are a team that a lot of people wrote off. A lot of people wrote them off. I think Derek Hart is the number two quarterback in fantasy right now. He is. He is. And when you look at their team,
00:06:20
Speaker
They do have some like interesting pieces. Like I forgot that chase young moved over to defensive end for him. Uh, everyone was sleeping on the saints. I, I love how their offense looks. I'm not going to lie. I thought Camara was washed, but if you do think about it, Camara has always avoided taking big hits just by his running style. He's shifty, he's smooth, but since Sean Payton left, the saints have been pretty irrelevant. Dennis Allen. I think he went like.
00:06:50
Speaker
three and seven, and then maybe like seven and 10. They almost fired him in the off season. They bring in Derek Carr. Then they miss the playoffs again. I think this year they could easily win the division, but the Bucks look good. I'm hoping the Falcons end up looking good. That's a good call. The Saints were surprising. What'd you think about, what'd you think about your matchup?

Larry's Team Performance

00:07:20
Speaker
Larry moving to 2-0, which is a really hot start for Larry. I know you had some bad luck. I still think you got a good squad. But talk to me about Larry's team. Any takeaways, because I'm sure you analyzed his lineup as you were playing him on Sunday and Monday. What do you think of Larry's squad at this point in the season? I think James had a good take. That was James predicted Larry for the win this year.
00:07:47
Speaker
No weaknesses, and Marvin Harrison Jr. just absolutely blew my mind. Putting up 25 points in the first quarter. I saw a stat line that in all of his dad's career, he only did that twice. Wow. So for Marvin Harrison Sr. to only do that twice,
00:08:14
Speaker
It's kind of crazy. It's the second game. Yeah. That's nuts. It's nuts. And I mean, it was not easy catches either. A couple of those catches were absolutely insane. Uh, one thing that stands out to me about Larry's team is actually JK Dobbins and Jamir Gibbs. We have a funny situation. I have their counterpart, David Montgomery.
00:08:39
Speaker
and Gus Edwards. And I thought it would be about 50 50 in terms of points early on, Montgomery still getting his touchdowns. Gibbs is getting way more touches. And Dobbins looks like he's the clear lead back in a Harbaugh offense. JK Dobbins looks really, really good, which JK Dobbins obviously has some pretty funny history in this league, but JK Dobbins has never put together a full season. If he can stay healthy and put together a full season, Larry's team, all of a sudden they look dangerous.
00:09:10
Speaker
Gotta catch him on a bi, it was dangerous. Gonna have to catch him on a bi week. The Zegens, Lamar stack, or the Z-Flowers, Lamar stack just destroyed me this week. Even his bench is fine, like there's nothing, it's a very boring team.
00:09:37
Speaker
He's not going to need to do anything for a while. But he's good at that. He never really makes trades. So he's good at not doing anything for a while. I have kind of a fun thing I want to go with you, Rob. This is called the all-play standings.

All-Play Standings Discussion

00:09:59
Speaker
Uh, this is a feature of fantasy pros, which I know the league is a little bit contentious about, but it's really cool. It basically is going to take what the team's records would be if they played every team in the league each week. So it removes all the luck involved with like traditional head-to-head schedules and gives like a more accurate picture of each team's performance. So I'm just going to go through the season today, what the records would be. If instead of like playing a specific opponent, you played every opponent.
00:10:29
Speaker
So Andrew would actually be 11 and seven. I would be 11 and seven smooth moves would be 11 and seven and West Hillbillies would be 11 and seven for like a 60% win percentage. Now Larry's team would actually be 16 and two over the first two weeks. Even if he had played every team, he would have only lost twice. That's like an 88, 89% win percentage. And an outlier here is the bomb squad would be one in 17.
00:10:57
Speaker
So no matter who Bobby played out of the entire league, he would have only won one out of the 18 matchup so far. So do you think that the bomb squad can turn this around? Do you think there's any talent on that roster or is this just going to be one of those years for Bobby? I mean, unfortunately, Bobby and Ryan have just not been good since
00:11:24
Speaker
Ryan was having some bad luck, rotten luck, if you will, the first few weeks last year. I think he put up some, a lot of points and lost, lost some close games, was just getting shelled. Uh, balmy's points against this year is insane. Um, so far, I think it's 270 points against, so he's, people are averaging 135 a week against him. You're really not going to win many games if you're getting that kind of point scored on you. Um, I think,
00:11:55
Speaker
But even if he wasn't, that was the point I was making. Even if he wasn't, he'd be one in 17. He's by far the lowest score in the league, so even without getting shelled. Jamar hasn't gotten going yet. Mahomes hasn't had a good game, really from a fantasy standpoint. I'm pretty underwhelmed by the Chiefs in general right now. But I wouldn't put Bami as, I mean, I'd put Bami as a shame-off
00:12:25
Speaker
I don't really like the norm front runner as early as week two. I'm not putting myself, I'm probably putting myself, I think I'm probably, with the Pacheco injury and the trade I made, I'm probably looking at the consolation ladder. I don't really see myself as a playoff team at the moment, but
00:12:50
Speaker
easy to be down after a time we'll tell 83

Rob's Team Rebranding

00:12:53
Speaker
point. Yeah. Yeah. But you can bounce back. You got the bomb squad this week. So good, good opportunity for a bounce back. Let's talk about week three. Uh, we got some great matchup. So we'll start with your matchup. We're just discussing it. You got to start by telling us, Rob, what, what is the Amish explain to us the Amish name?
00:13:19
Speaker
Uh, this is a rebrand for your team. We've seen actually three rebrands, uh, over the past week, but walk us through the name change, what you're referencing here. It goes along with the irritability of the league. Um, all of Larry's ramblings about traditionalism and wills and how this league never needs to change anything. Um, just reminded me of, of Amish people. So.
00:13:47
Speaker
Our league is pretty honest. I don't know another league that just plays the same basic rules that fantasy football was originally created with. Not saying it's a terrible thing, just saying there's no evolution with the sport itself. Horse and buggy, if you will. Well.
00:14:16
Speaker
I mean, it's really funny. I mean, that, that's a really funny analogy. Uh, we'll see how it works out for your team. Uh, sorry. Let's talk about your matchup with the bomb squad, unless you want to expand further.
00:14:32
Speaker
Am I doing a rumbling session because I'll just make this point right now Jake pointed out how kickers, you know are necessary necessary part of football and AJ's biggest issue with any kind of half-point or full-point PPR is he doesn't care about these slot guys that get you know 10 catches for 90 yards and then have a good stat line I think
00:15:00
Speaker
those players are the ones who get crucial first downs, uh, you know, set up, you know, third and fours instead of third and nines third and tens. Um, still a crucial part of football, but it's not a crucial part of fantasy football. So there's a difference. Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm with you. I'm with you. I mean, I like PPR, but we've,
00:15:27
Speaker
been anti-PPR as a league for a long time. And I'm starting to see both sides of it. I'm trying to see both sides. I'm good with not doing PPR. I'm just saying it's almost all of my projections for my players in our own format and ESPN are still based off of PPR. Yeah, yeah. The general fantasy community has moved past standard scoring. So it's hard to get like actual intel on
00:15:56
Speaker
Like, okay, how are my stack ranking, my flex position based on standard scoring? It's, it's just rare to see. So yeah, you make a valid point. Um, I guess Rob, you guys are going off this week. Pretty, pretty tight matchup here. We got Mahomes Sunday night football in Atlanta. Um, I'm actually hoping to snag some tickets to that game. I think I got a plug on that one. Uh, I know Bobby will be there at the game. Do you think Bobby being at the game will
00:16:26
Speaker
help or do you think it'll hurt? And two, you know, do you think that the Taylor Swift being at the game will help or hurt Bommie? I'm going to go ahead and just make this a permanent statement. Taylor Swift is irrelevant to football outside of the fact that Travis Kelsey can no longer play football very well ever since he's been
00:16:53
Speaker
a part of the Taylor Swift situation.

Match-Up Previews and Predictions

00:16:56
Speaker
Bommie being there, Bommie's probably about as quiet on the football field as he is in the group chat and the podcast. Bommie's, Bommie being there is probably not gonna make much of a difference. He's very vanilla and composed. I'm gonna go ahead and- Other side.
00:17:22
Speaker
Well, the other side of that would be like, you know, his dad will be there. He's a huge Chiefs fan. So maybe, do you think Dave will have any sway on the outcome of your fantasy matchup? Dave, Dave worries me more than Bonnie. Um,
00:17:38
Speaker
I'm going to say that I win this one and I think the difference is going to be Xavier worthy. If there's only if there's a positive to Pacheco going down, I think that's just going to increase Xavier or these touches and with Bobby having my homes as a QB, hopefully. You know. You can eliminate some points.
00:18:04
Speaker
get some big plays, maybe even get a little rushing, rushing touchdown in there, so. Yeah, yeah. Let's talk about my matchup while we're on the subject of talking about ourselves. I'm playing with Larry. And you and Larry have gone back and forth quite a bit just this past week or just these past couple of days. He also had a team change from a name perspective. He changed his team to a team who has no name.
00:18:34
Speaker
I don't know if there's a deeper meaning here or if he was just struggling for creativity. We've already talked about Larry's team a lot. Who, who do you like in this matchup, Rob? This honestly is, uh, is one that I'm very, very concerned about, especially cause CD lamb did not practice with an undisclosed ankle injury today. Cowboys look terrible. CD in the fifth, I think you got them enough with the fifth overall pick. That's a great pig. Um,
00:19:04
Speaker
But Dak always starts out slow to the season. So he'll bounce back. Um. Um.
00:19:29
Speaker
I like your defense. You've been streaming defenses, getting some pretty good match-ups. Did you put any fab to get the bucks? Fab is spend where I need to spend. I think streaming defenses makes a lot of sense. For fab, I spent six bucks.
00:19:53
Speaker
I think Larry bid two and Andrew bid three. I bid six. I went a little high. I guess I lost $2. I could have bid four to win them. But for me, it's, it's worth it to play the matchup game with defenses. They can get you a lot of points and Bo Nix sucks. He sucks. We, we know that the nexus is not good at football.
00:20:16
Speaker
If I could, I would stream whoever is playing BONIX every week. I know that's not going to be an option, but that would actually be my defensive strategy. It would be stream whoever, well, until two is back, either whoever the Dolphins are playing or whoever the Broncos are playing. Just to disclose my defensive strategy to the whole league. That would be it right now. I think most people can figure that out without the explanation, but I do like the Jameson Williams draft pick.
00:20:48
Speaker
I think it was two years ago, you just absolutely horse laughed at me for drafting Lions players. And since then, you've had at least two Lions players on your roster. Actually, I think you had three last year to get Montgomery, Sun God, and La Porta. Yeah. Yeah. Good memory. I actually traded away Montgomery late to Andrew, but...
00:21:15
Speaker
That's because Kyron had forced his way into my starting lineup at that point. But yeah. I don't think DJ Moore really made that worth it to you. But you won. So who cares? That I did. That I did. Still the champ. Don't forget it. I know it hurts. Yeah. Nice little move picking up CH and putting it in the IR slot.
00:21:46
Speaker
Oh, okay. I'm glad, I'm glad you caught that. I got cream hunt too. So maybe we'll be wheeling and dealing before it's all said and done, Rob. You never know. Okay. So you're taking Larry in this one. We got to keep it moving. James. Yeah, let's go. James and Will, this is interesting. I feel like James and Will have also been kind of at odds just in, in league chatter. Will lumping James and I guess with the radicals or with me, uh, that's fine. I can take it.
00:22:14
Speaker
But James, James's 2-0, Will's 2-0, this is probably the premier heavyweight showdown at the top of the table, if you will. This is our only 2-0 versus 2-0 matchup of the week. Who do you like in this one? I like Will. Jim Nixon's not a lock to play.
00:22:37
Speaker
A-chan's a little shaky. Jefferson's seeming like he's gonna play. He's starting Quinton Johnson and Juwan Jennings, you know, because he had some, even his bench is, you know, Cooper Cup is doubtful. Obviously that's a big hit. Algiers questionable, Palmer's questionable. I wish they'd bring back, you know, I wish they never did away with a tropical designation.
00:23:10
Speaker
But no, uh, well, it's got a couple of tough match ups, but I think he's got, I think he's got this one by 10. Okay. Well, by 10 moving to three and out, that'd be huge for the, uh, final new name change. Uh, the WH Billy's preserved by pilot. He's gone in for the full corporate jump.
00:23:35
Speaker
Before you join the show, I did mention that we've lost one sponsor for the show, and we're now an unofficial League of Hard Knocks podcast. It appears that River Ridge has dropped us as a sponsor, per the group me. Pilot rejected our sponsorship, and that leaves our only sponsor as Ryan Construction. So not sure, Rob, if your company would be interested in sponsoring the podcast, but we are down to sponsor.
00:24:04
Speaker
confident that we'll get some good offers on the table. But just throwing that out there. AJ versus Rhino is one of our last two matchups of the week. Rhino could move to 0 and 3 is the norm. Why is the norm not getting more trash talked about him? He's the norm. He started off 0 and 2. Rhino's in a dangerous spot here. Could he be headed for back to back shame offs if he loses this game?
00:24:35
Speaker
It's not looking, wouldn't be looking good. Um, I think right now gets this one. Um, it was quarterback situation. He's, he's rostering three QBs. Jayden Reed looked really good week one. He's hurt. Um, Brian Thomas, Jr looks incredible. Point against the bills. He's going to, they're going to have to score points.
00:25:03
Speaker
St. Brown, I guess, is he playing? He doesn't even show any question. Well, I thought he got hurt last week. He was a full practice participant as of today, Wednesday, the 18th. He was a full practice participant. So it just looks like I'm on Raw's end. Pull one. Pull one, son. God moves. Yeah, I got Rhino.
00:25:26
Speaker
A lot of things you said about AJ's team got rammed in your face, week one, and then kind of came to fruition in week two. Anthony Richardson is ass. Yeah, Kenneth Walker got hurt as I predicted. So, and I did- Tyre roots. Yeah, Tyre roots were the quarterback.
00:25:51
Speaker
don't think DJ Moore is going to be viable until Caleb Williams gets a couple more games under his belt. He looked bad on Sunday Night Football. And I mean, going back to that, I have Waddle on my bench now. And Waddle was pretty early round pickup for me. Waddle and Hill, I don't think they're worth anything without Tua. And the Dolphins announced today they're putting two on IR. Not good. Not good for Dolphins receivers.
00:26:22
Speaker
Tough, tough break for the old man. When the chef is a final matchup, uh, this is a, this is an interesting one. This is an interesting one. Chef could fall to 0 and 3 if he loses this one and the bandwagoners coming off a hundred and 50 burger. Almost. You think Camara can keep it rolling.
00:26:48
Speaker
I think Camara is going to have a career season if the offense continues to get him in the position to score touchdowns. Yeah, I know if the UK Metcalf, I wish I had left that out of the trade. I just didn't realize that Anthony Richardson was so bad.
00:27:07
Speaker
Davante Adams looked really good. I'm not a Gardner-Menchu hater. I really like Menchu. It's kind of like the Nick Foles type. They could just pop up in one game. Andrew's team looks a lot better after the trade. I think Jake has a really high floor, but I don't think his ceiling for scoring is very high.
00:27:36
Speaker
Um, I don't see Jake putting up 120 plus very often. I also don't see him, you know, putting up less than 90 very often either. So, um, if Bijon can become electric, um, it could happen, but roll with the bandwagon and this one, I think, uh,
00:28:03
Speaker
I think Davante gets a decent game in the first half and then probably, I mean, they bench Bryce young. I don't know what Carolina is doing. Terrible run franchise and they make the Adams family from the Titans look like geniuses. Yeah, the Panthers are definitely an interesting position out there. Number one pick could be the biggest bus to ever benched for Andy Dalton this week, right? The Red Rocket.
00:28:32
Speaker
The Red Rocket is back. We're not going to say Andy Dalton. It's just Red Rocket. Red Rocket.
00:28:37
Speaker
Red racket. Rob, this concludes our week three preview, our week two recap. But before we jump to your ramblings or rumblings or whatever you wanna call it, let's go through the offers report. Our highest offer of the week was, yes chef, he added Carson Steel for $50, half of his entire budget. The other closest bidder was Bommie with 16. So Jake,
00:29:04
Speaker
went big, I guess you thought everyone was gonna be bidding for steel, but half your free agent budget, was this worth it in your opinion? That's debatable. I think everybody really overvalues fab dollars, right?
00:29:30
Speaker
I think there's been, since Fab became an amendment via Will, I've seen a lot of people finish this season with 80 plus dollars. So, to me, Fab is something you spend on early and then you save some for later in the season when you might need to stream a defense for a bye week.
00:29:55
Speaker
stream a QB or whatever position. My budget's pretty off right now. I spent more money than I wanted to. I got the players I wanted to. But yeah, Jake immediately just spent $75 in one week.
00:30:24
Speaker
I thought Andrew was going to drop some cash on Braylon Allen after last week's performance and the handcuff breeze. So a little surprised on that one. Yeah, he looked good. He looked really good. Andrew only bid $6 for Braylon Allen. You won it with 11. I spent 17 on cream hunt.
00:30:46
Speaker
Uh, you, you took Braylon Allen for 11, uh, smooth moves took Juwan Jennings for, for nine, nothing really other to note in the, uh, offer report other than the fact that Jake, uh, cut through about three fourths of his budget in week three. Uh, Rob, I also, I picked, I picked up Sumajah Perine for free this morning. I was really confused that nobody took it, took a shot on him. Uh,
00:31:15
Speaker
They signed him into off-season kind of later in the off-season. I think it was maybe a few weeks before camp started, a couple weeks before camp started. But if they'd wanted Kareem Hunt, I feel like he's a depth play. If they'd wanted Kareem Hunt, they would have already had signed him in the off-season. He's been a free agent for a while. But you never know. I mean, I don't see anything about Carson Steele that gets my motor running.
00:31:46
Speaker
He fumbled. He's got a pet gator. That's really all I know about Carson Steele so far. Yeah, that's good stuff for two pet gators. It's the only people who are dumber have Burmese pythons as pets.
00:32:06
Speaker
All right, Rob, it's a moment everyone's been waiting for. We don't have Big J this week, but we do have rumblings with Rob. So let me just do a little breaking news segment here.

Rob's Rumblings Segment

00:32:17
Speaker
It's time for Rob's rumblings. Rob's rumblings. Rob, I feel like you had a lot to say to some specific League members. So I'm just going to kind of read back through some things here. And I think it would be just good talking points for me to ask you a couple of questions and then
00:32:36
Speaker
You know, and then you can dive in and, and say what you'd like to say. Um, but yeah, on a group chat, uh, it was, it was a little bit spicy over the weekend and it continued. Um, I know that, that you mentioned a couple of things regarding Larry and he referred to you as Rob the Donald, uh,
00:32:59
Speaker
You said then maybe you should show up to dispute the logic at winter meetings. It seems like you and Larry got into it. You called Will out for a political move.
00:33:10
Speaker
Let's kind of start there at this amendment that passed. It's gotten a lot of flack and it came out of nowhere from Will on Sunday. He seemed to rally up a big crowd that all of a sudden was against this amendment just two weeks in. What are your live reactions? Let's get away from the keyboard warriors. What do you want to say about this? What do you want to say to the league around this topic? Whoa.
00:33:35
Speaker
Anytime I get into it with Larry, it always, Larry gets personal, we get personal. That happens. I don't understand why none of these arguments were heavily debated at the winter meetings.
00:33:52
Speaker
Didn't understand Will coming out of the woodwork, scoring 130 points and complaining that he wanted to score less points and start Travis Kelsey. Main thing is the entertainment statement. The only amendment I've ever pushed for that was for entertainment was the lowest score of the week has to do hard knocks talks on the Marco Polo.
00:34:21
Speaker
Turned out to be more trouble and it's worse when a more quiet members of the league got the fewest points, but it at least, you know, had a, you know, league interest and league participation probably at an all time high.

Yeah, yeah. So I mean, overall, it was interesting. I did do some reflecting. I feel like Will has pointed out some good points. He mentioned that I have a playbook. Bommie and him tend to think that I played a victim card. I think that's pretty accurate. However, I have a question for you, Rob. Do you think there's people in the league that
00:35:10
Speaker
maybe take things a little bit more personally than they should. And maybe is that what was going on in the league? Things got a little personal when they should. And this is even going back to last week's podcast with Bami and Andrew. What's your take on talking trash, having fun,
00:35:30
Speaker
messing around with people regarding fantasy and not losing friendships because at the end of the day, this is all just a game and we're all just having fun or I hope we're having fun. I don't want to lose any friends over this. Where do we draw the line as a league? What's your take? I mean, I just love this. This is the league. I don't think it's necessarily people
00:35:59
Speaker
getting personal all the time or getting really upset. I think there's certain league members who get under each other's skin very well and it's like playing golf. I mean, I'm going to ask you if you, if you're beating me, I'm probably going to ask you if you breathe in or out in your backswing in hopes that you shank the next four shots. Let's, you know, Larry likes to get a reaction when he's a, when he gets into the, when he gets into the conversation and
00:36:27
Speaker
There's an argument where he likes the reaction, where he likes to take it up a notch. I don't think anybody's friendships are jeopardy.
00:36:42
Speaker
Andrew saying he wants to leave the politics out and then he's always talking about politics. I think we should definitely leave. We've real world politics out of fantasy world football. So. Just in my opinion, politics will always result in argument even with the most like minded people so. Yeah, yeah, I don't think I don't think there's any place for for politics and fantasy football.
00:37:12
Speaker
I am curious what you think about outside of, outside of like this podcast, which is just for fun and just for the league and is, is a parody and is a joke, but it's also sometimes trying to talk serious fantasy football. That's why I brought in Jay's move as co-host this year. I'm going to bring on guests like yourself constantly. Uh, some people are saying that like, they don't want entertainment. They don't want.
00:37:40
Speaker
this podcast even exists. They want to boycott the podcast. Bobby said that he's not gonna listen to you tonight, Rob. I guess, I'm curious kind of like why people are opposed to chatter, why people are opposed to entertainment, why people are anti-fun.

Entertainment and Communication in the League

00:37:57
Speaker
Again, I'm not necessarily gonna speak from a large perspective of bias because yeah, I just do this for fun. I do enjoy talking fantasy football with you and with James and with whoever else would join us on the show in the future.
00:38:08
Speaker
Like Bami, if he wants to come back, he's welcome. Andrew was a lot of fun to talk to you. Can't wait to get Will on and Larry on and other league members like Jake and Rhino. But what's your take on like this anti-entertainment, anti-fun, the league should not have entertainment. Is this podcast too much? My take is my team name, the Amish.
00:38:35
Speaker
Um, we can go back to, we can go back to 2013 when we'll try to extort money from league members for league management notes. So, um, we don't have to touch on that. I mean, it's, we need the entertainment. This is, this is what we, this is why I, this is why I look forward to fantasy football is it's, you know,
00:39:04
Speaker
The anxiety of being the norm is great. It keeps you on your toes, keeps you feeling alive. Going into a Sunday night football game, knowing you've got the win, just exhilarating. I don't understand the shade on the podcast. There's times where, you know,
00:39:30
Speaker
You spout on and ramble on, and nobody can really defend themselves or their points, but you can always join the podcast and do that. So I'm enjoying the podcast. I like them when they're right under an hour. Just, you know, people are busy, so.
00:39:55
Speaker
But I don't see any reason to not have entertainment in the league. I don't know if it's because certain people aren't the entertainers that gets them upset, like Will. Will loves to entertain. Love that. Hope I can make it to the porch on Saturday. But the spotlight's on the pod. I don't think a few people like that.
00:40:25
Speaker
And it is what it is. Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't my attention to take the spotlight away from anyone. I think that's what it comes across as we just had a huge vacuum in league media. When we quit the Marco Polo, I, um,
00:40:43
Speaker
I think that a lot of people still react negatively to that, but some people, there was a large contingent when we had Marco Polo that said, well, that was too much. That was annoying. So I feel like no matter what sort of lead communication we have, people are always going to get frustrated. Uh, I know bombing mentioned, well, why would I get on the podcast and debate you when I could use the app to use audio or video? I guess.
00:41:11
Speaker
What's your take there? Should we look at going back to using audio and video on an app? Should we look at going back to Marco Polo? The last thing I want is for the league to feel like they don't have a voice. Again, not playing a victim here, just being honest. That's why I tried to have every single league member on the podcast last year, because just trying to get the chatter going. No.
00:41:38
Speaker
I don't think there's any going back, kind of wash the leak, wash his hands of that. As far as Bonnie goes, I don't think he's in Julie's being on the spot. I think he's very collected, very calculated, likes to thoroughly think through what he's going to say before the words leave his mouth, very rational person. So makes sense that he would want to do it via text or via
00:42:08
Speaker
recording himself on something he's been able to think about. And there's nothing wrong with that. I wish I didn't have some word vomit, word diarrhea every now and then. Me too. Me too. Okay.

Speaker
We could get rich if we created a breathalyzer called blow to text where you, you know, you have to pass a breathalyzer to be able to use your phone. Oh, okay. That's actually,
00:42:37
Speaker
That'd be interesting. I would definitely throw a wrench in some Miller-Time Morton text that we get late night. I personally love, love the league chatter. I love the drama. I think it's apparent at this point that I do love the drama, so I'm not gonna pretend like I don't. It's my favorite part of fantasy football. It's fantasy. It's literally in the name to me that this is all just a fantasy game and we should have fun with it.
00:43:04
Speaker
Speaking of fun with it. We had a really fun section planned out tonight It slashed this morning, but due to some unforeseen circumstances Rob had to take a rain check on the What league member is what NFL coach? So we're gonna call it a show tonight. I'd love to having Rob on the show Rob. Thank you so much for joining. I Enjoyed recap in the past couple weeks. I appreciate
