Introduction and Excitement

Speaker
Welcome, welcome, welcome in episode eight stone by cornbread. I'm Blake. I'm joined by my co-host big J James Stacey Hicks Jr. James. How are we living tonight? We're living great. Had a wonderful work day, got to play some golf, paid homage to none other than Dick Gang on number 17 at Avalon. Excited for the show tonight. Shout out, Dick Gang. Let's get into it.

Fantasy Football Results & Discussions

00:01:41
Speaker
And what a wonderful week it was closing down week six got a few matchups to break down here before we get into the standings and First coming in on an absolute heater, the West Hillbillies preserved by pilot take down the team who sullied his name on a top 50 fantasy football podcast. Down goes Lizzie 134.52 to 97.72. Will's team is healthy and they are humming. On to the next matchup. Previewed by our music there, the Amish fall to the charging white rhino.
00:02:20
Speaker
This was an ugly game and, uh, Rhino just, just barely edged out an awful Amish squad. And Rob is an ah absolute tailspin. So more to come on that the marsh cats high score of the week, go to three and three and take down the bandwagoner, just very balanced effort from the top end from Blake. Uh,
00:02:49
Speaker
Andrew 108 that's going to get it done a lot of weeks. Not this week. You fall to two and four Just a bunch of old men fall to the bomb squad as balmy is on a little bit of a tear here 124.42 to 94.7 Bobby's team is really coming into form. He's he's claimed that he has three three number one wide receivers Remains to be seen how the devante trade will affect Garrett Wilson But big win and put some at three and three. Good job, Kamesh. And finally, the smooth moves. Yours truly heads to five and one with a rough week from Jake going to one and five. This was the side bet matchup of the week. And if not for negative seven ah from the Cowboys D here, Jake may have had a a chance as I only put up 90.46.
00:03:48
Speaker
Tough time there for the chef. He is focused on the shame offs. And so let's dive into the standings a little bit here, Blake. A little bit of separation as we we see things shake out here. There's a very clear top four. You could claim five teams. And down at the bottom, the picture is really starting to become clear. Can we get your thoughts on that, Blake?
00:04:14
Speaker
Yeah, I think, I think we always stay competitive as a league. We always stay competitive, but one in five isn't competitive. Those are my thoughts. Yeah, it's pretty rough. They are giving the Amish a 1% playoff chance. So congrats on, uh, them not introducing the decibel system for that Rob. Uh, yes, chef 3% chance.
00:04:39
Speaker
And these two and four teams, the Wagoner and the old men are fighting for their fucking lives right now because it is not pretty. And Will and I kind of carry in the cake right now, two teams that have had some injuries, but still five and one and getting healthy. Pretty dangerous there at the top. Yeah.

Winning Streaks and Quick Changes

00:05:01
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, no need to comment on the league's stop score because yeah, reigning champ needs no introduction.
00:05:09
Speaker
So I think that's pretty good analysis of the standings. Other than the charging white Rhino, four game win streak, screw the norm. But credit where credit's due, four game win streak in this league is pretty impressive. And the Rhino is horn out charging right now. The Rhino looks good. He's got a very balanced squad right now. You know, he's not really going to shake it up with the trade. So he's just kind of dancing with the one that he brought.
00:05:40
Speaker
And I wouldn't want to play him right now. ah As we pull up his roster, the Nico Collins injury hurts. I still see some weakness at quarterback. If he's rolling out Trevor Lawrence this week, I don't love that for him, but he's, you know, a four game heater is a four game heater. You can't, can't knock a man for that.
00:06:04
Speaker
Four game win streak at any point, unless you're AJ last season and the regular season is, is something that you start to feel like you're getting some momentum. It's kind of like the NFL. I mean, teams just don't go on four game winning streaks unless you're the chiefs and you have the refs as your, as your, as one of your own. Right. You have, you have the refs, you have Taylor Swift, you have Roger Goodell.
00:06:31
Speaker
You can go on a heater, but, but when you're the norm to go on a four game win streak, I think that they're actually, I'm not going to, I'm not going to kiss the norms ass here. Screw you norm. You're going down this week, but I will say four game win streak is the norm is pretty impressive. It's pretty good. And things can get away from you quick. When we had Larry on the pod, he followed the next two weeks with two losses. And while being near the top does give you a little bit of a cushion.
00:07:00
Speaker
A two-game slide could put, put Larry right back into some really negative thoughts, falling out of the playoff race. I'm very curious to see how he bounces back this week. Well, let's talk about that for a second because we had Larry on the podcast and and Larry was, Larry was four and O. Uh, we had Will on the podcast and Larry was four and one, and now we're, we're heading into week seven and Larry is four and two. I, I have to feel.
00:07:30
Speaker
Like Larry right now is, is a little bit, he's a little bit on edge. I think, I think that's clear. If you've, if you've been in the group chat, if you've, if you've looked at the signal app, Larry is he's, he's got a little bite to him right now. He's snapping. He's not, he's not full aggression, but he's clapping back a little quicker than usual.
00:07:56
Speaker
what what's What's your, what's your thoughts on Larry's like head space right now, James? i'm i'm I'm not concerned about him, but definitely different than two weeks ago. I'm sensing a little bit of the same thing. He was kind of on the pod with us guarding against the, uh, the rat poison. We were trying to feed him.
00:08:14
Speaker
And now he is, uh, whenever he is engaged, he'll come back. Like you said, very quickly, very concisely, like he's talking to a child. And that's how you know, just like he was doing at the draft with AJ. That's how you know, you've really got Larry ready to

Larry's Losing Streak and Team Challenges

00:08:30
Speaker
pounce. And so I like to see that energy from him. Yeah. And I think both weeks he kind of defended his team's performance. Like he lost to the rhino, but he was like, well, at least I put up a hundred.
00:08:42
Speaker
It's like, okay, well you just lost to the norm, but that's one way to look at it. Uh, next week he gets, he gets crushed by the Billy's the Billy's calls game before the four o'clock game even really gets started, which has become kind of one of the, it's kind of like the wet bandits from home alone. This is kind of Will's calling card this season. I think that he's starting to really embrace calling ball game, which traditionally was AJ's thing, but in a reverse method.
00:09:10
Speaker
But that had to get under Larry's skin to to hear, hear Will who he called out on the podcast called ball game that early. And now he's back defending his take against Will, which was great to see. I, I love when the same argument gets hashed out about 10 different times.
00:09:29
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know you're right. I think, I think that's, that's what we've seen from Larry is to, to start talking to league members, like children. That's when, you know, he's, he's locked in one, which we'd love a locked in Larry, but also he's, he's a little bit on edge. He's kind of ready. He's kind of ready to bite. Yeah. It's, it's not the way that Larry normally acts. So.
00:09:54
Speaker
Speaking of not doing things, Blake, I heard you had a little special segment planned for us.

'Not Top 10' Humorous Mishaps

00:10:00
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm excited about this one. Let's do the not top 10. Yeah, I even got the music. I'm pretty excited about this. I made a not top 10 of the league so far in 2024. So let's dive right into it. Number 10 is Rob's trade.
00:10:23
Speaker
Rob's trade. Yes, Rob, when he traded his entire team to obtain Christian McCaffrey, who has yet to play a single snap in 2024. James, good thoughts on that. Yeah, that's a rough. He avoided the bad draft and then just traded for the bad draft. You just never want to see that. I can't believe this is at 10, honestly. Yeah, yeah. Well, i got I got Rob again at number nine. Rob drafting Deshaun Watson.
00:10:53
Speaker
the worst quarterback in the NFL right now. That's tough. That's tough for Team Corral. You don't want those guys in the locker room. He would never be on a Will Hart squad, you know, from the early 2000s era. And yeah, Deshaun is awful. Get him out of the league. Get him to a massage parlor. At number eight in the not top 10, I have Jake's plumbing. Jake's plumbing on draft night.
00:11:20
Speaker
It was rough. ah Things were coming out of the ground. It smelled just like diarrhea slowly rising from the ground. And that's the worst possible smell it's right after you've eaten too much cheese yeah or any time. It pairs really well with some smoked queso. Number seven, while we're talking about food on the not top 10, I have Larry's barbecue stain on the vols shirt.
00:11:48
Speaker
That was a tough scene, you know, poor guy. He's probably got a million things going on, FaceTime and the kids and wife on the way to Knoxville. The man just needed to eat and he clearly over-sauced his nuggets and, you know, barbecue stand on my white t-shirt. It was a tough scene. I think we're a little bit past miniskirts. Number six is Blake. Me, my victim playbook.
00:12:15
Speaker
Yeah, I think Spygate has officially occurred because the playbook is out and people know your moves before your moves happen. It's like it's like watching Tennessee football right now. Run, pass, run, punt. It's just not fun for anybody anymore. We see it coming, but it's yet all the same. It's incredibly frustrating. so I'm curious if you're gonna be able to diversify, you know, put some moves in motion, pre-snap. We'll see. Every dude coordinator has to was no fun at all. Yeah, it wasn't fun for Bommie, it wasn't fun for us. Maybe it was fun for Andrew just to see that he left the chat.
00:13:12
Speaker
But that was two thumbs down. Big swing, big miss, and more to come on the the commissioner and potentially coming back on the pod. Number four, I have Rhino's draft attendance. The norm dodges the draft. The draft dodging white Rhino. Unforgivable. That's all I have to say about it. Let's move on.
00:13:34
Speaker
Number three and number two, Jake and Rob's aggressive side bets with each of us. These teams are both one in five. Yeah, they're staring down the barrel of the one in five. Thanks for that, Will. And looking like they're going to have to pay up. And you have to imagine get inside Rob's head, he usually is not a one upper financially, but a hundred dollar bet was already on the table between me and Jake. He had to. one up at twice and go naming rights and league dues. So that's a big chunk of change for a guy whose kids are always sick and always going to the vet for his dogs. Just not a good recipe. Rob, can't wait to name your team. I got some great ideas. Number one, I am going with actually your prediction James of
00:14:27
Speaker
AJ as champion, AJ is another one of those teams in the shame off positions and not looking like the champ. No, that was a terrible take. I liked AJ's draft, and it really all hung on Anthony Richardson, who has sucked. And I thought maybe having a young healthy team would play out for him, but it's not. AJ, you're due for a shame off appearance, and i I'll be there with my popcorn.
00:14:57
Speaker
That was a not top 10.

Big J's Knoxville Weekend & Podcast Talks

00:14:59
Speaker
I know that there was probably other moments so far this year that were deserving of the not top 10. Maybe some things that took place even outside of our league chatter or ah or league affairs. But i know I know this weekend was a big one. I know there was another tailgate. I know that the Vols came out.
00:15:21
Speaker
on top in overtime. And I know that Big J was there every step of the way. I'm really excited to hear about this weekend. We have a breaking report from Big J. Big J reporting live from a big weekend in the world of Knoxville and LHK. You know, we kicked off things. We had a wonderful Thursday night gathering. Most of the Knoxville league members were present.
00:15:50
Speaker
Andrew and Rob were unable to attend, but it was great. The commission even made an appearance from out of town, uh, at everybody, I would call it an A minus burger and B minus, uh, fries. But we, we ate, we drank, we drank top shelf bourbon. And, uh, the commission seemed to be in really good spirits and, uh, not a lot of fantasy talk came up other than watching the game that night.
00:16:19
Speaker
And so, um, you know, things are going good. We're going to all gather again, Saturday, we'll through a great tailgate beers were had. Then the location of the tailgate changed at, at which point I made a massive, uh, bourbon and ginger ale at the Fuqua tailgate as his tradition. As you should. I had the commission, you know, just me and him, people were waiting to pee in different lines, this and that.
00:16:47
Speaker
going in every which direction. I said, so, Kamesh, about the pod. Pause. And I could see the tension levels rising. I said, um is there a redemptive arc for us to bring you back on? And you know we're sorry. It didn't work out, yada, yada. And at that moment, everything shifted. I saw the gaze in Bami's eye intensify.
00:17:18
Speaker
And needless to say, the wound is still fresh. So nothing got resolved. An invitation was extended. I think we still have one boycotting member, the commish, and, um, that's kind of where we're at with the commish right now. I'm not sure where to go next, but the season is youngish. I say that we're halfway through the regular season. And, uh, yeah, that's big J reporting live from the,
00:17:48
Speaker
The weekend and the vols win. Yeah. I got a couple of questions for you, big J. Cause I know you're live on the scene. So, uh, I know you mentioned watching the Thursday night game together. I'm curious. I'm curious how the team that is one in five, uh, one of the teams is one in five, the chef out. How is the chef handling everything? I feel like it's always a little quiet on the chef front. I got pretty, he got pretty animated during this year's draft.
00:18:17
Speaker
animated is probably a good word for it. How, how, how is the chef? How is, how is our friend Jake the quarterback and how is he handling his position in the standings right now? Uh, in a word, I would say Jake is a bit sullen about his fantasy squad. His shoulders are a little bit lower than normal trying to divert away from fantasy talk. Any chance he can get.
00:18:43
Speaker
And you can see, just like when he smacked Will on the head of the draft, he's always ready to just snap again. And there's a certain energy as as the kids say, he has some aura right now, but it's it's negative aura. It's it's shame aura. Yeah, it's not Riz. It's not Riz. So yeah, jake Jake is interesting right now. I haven't ribbed him too much about the side bet because i I don't like to eat too much crow, but after beating him head to head, it is not looking good for him. Yeah. And I mean, I know you broke down the actual standings. I did do a little more research and kind of season to date statistics, and I'm not going to continue to, to my own horn for, for setting the pace for the rest of the league with 700 points. But I will note that did Jake is.
00:19:42
Speaker
Very, very, very last and points scored. It's not that he's been unlucky by, by any means he, he has less than 500 points. He's the only team with less than 500 points. And I just don't see how it gets better from here for Jake. And I wish I did. Uh, I don't even know if he's a regular listener, but.
00:20:02
Speaker
The Eagles have been a disappointment. I don't know if you saw Sirianni yelling at the crowd over the weekend, but just to talk a little bit of football, talk about classic little man syndrome, getting in fights with your own fans when you're winning a game against Deshaun Watson and the Browns was just hilarious. and And that's Jake's quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Aaron Jones, questionable. He's in and out of lineups coming coming back off a bye. Olave got negative points, I think, for Jake this last week.
00:20:32
Speaker
Lazard's stock is maybe tanking with the addition of, I mean, and Devontae to the Jets, everyone saw that coming, but there goes his wide receiver one. I look at this roster and and I don't want to dive too deep into Jake's roster, but I just don't see a way that he he snaps out of it. So it's it's very interesting for where Jake's at. I just,
00:20:58
Speaker
I just didn't know if he was, if he was tapping out yet. It sounds like he's not tapping out, but he's down. No, he's down. And you're talking about no way out. Jake's wide receiver room is rough. And traditionally we've seen that is the meal ticket to making to the playoffs is good wide receivers that can go 15 to 20 on any given game. And he has none of those currently, I would say.
00:21:26
Speaker
Well, you know what everyone's been arguing about from the the rational conservative camp this year has been that there are so many good wide receivers on rosters everywhere. It makes you think, I wonder if Jake's ever contemplated a trade. Have you ever been proposed a trade by Jake? I've never been proposed a trade by Jake. No, I propose Jake trades all the time. i While we're big jaying it, I've been trying to trade quite a bit. And I've put some offers on the table for JSN and San La Porta. But Jake's not wanting to do business right now. Larry's not wanting to do business. Rhino, AJ, Andrew, even you Blake, I extended you at least a conversation starter. But trades don't seem to be ready to snap just yet.
00:22:17
Speaker
Yeah, ah that was that was just a nothing offer. i don't I don't like trading bench players for bench players. But and enough of enough of this, Big J, we appreciate you on on the show always, and we'll see you next time. Because I missed the draft so much and we talked about the draft so much, I figured why not do another draft of

Live Fantasy Team Drafting

00:22:36
Speaker
sorts, James? And and this is a section we haven't really done yet, but what about what about some power rankings? This is how we do.
00:22:54
Speaker
Let's power rank them. You want 10 or should I start? ah No, let's live draft it. Rapid fire. ah Number 10, I'm taking ah the Amish with with the 10th pick of my power rankings draft. Rob is ahead of Jake in points four. But when you break down this roster,
00:23:17
Speaker
It is somewhat of a disaster because because Jordan Mason, while solid backup for McCaffrey is kind of in limbo. He hurt his shoulder. James Connor last week was atrocious. And I think that was going to be one of Rob's like just stable, consistent guys. 2.6 points from from James Connor in week seven.
00:23:45
Speaker
Rob continues to somehow make CJ Stroud bad, even though CJ Stroud has been playing pretty bad. I feel like the more Rob shits on him, the worse he gets. He only puts up seven points against a terrible Patriots team. Mike Evans, yeah, Baker likes to throw to Mike Evans. But after that, Rob's receiver room is Damario Douglas.
00:24:08
Speaker
He's putting, I mean, he's putting all of his hope in Drake may throwing to Mario Douglas. It's very, very interesting as his wide receiver too. Uh, Rob is starting the Browns D against.
00:24:23
Speaker
Joe Burrow right now. and and And I don't know if this is some sort of prank by Rob. They're currently projected to only score three points. And the Browns just traded arguably their best player in Amari Cooper, who's also on Rob's team, which does give his team a tiny bit of a boost. But Rob, this is this is, I will say, this is the worst squad Rob has ever assembled. I'm taking 10 with Rob. What do you got for number nine? Wow, that leaves some great value on the board for me to snag Jake here. Yes, chef, at number nine.
00:24:53
Speaker
We discussed him already, but it's just a rough starting lineup He needs bijon to go off every week like he did against me to even have a chance and Hurts, uh still solid. Aaron jones is going to be injured Three more times this year and the receivers are awful. And if you look at his bench I don't see a lot of moves he can actually make not sure when puka is coming back if at all hopefully not so uh My guy cup can start, uh, start going off again here soon, but it's looking rough, Jake. Okay. Now it gives me number eight, uh, Jake and Rob off the board. I'm going to make a jump here. I'm going to go with the bomb squad. Uh, and number eight, and I have, I have some rationale behind this. He actually is. Is third last. So he actually is eighth in points for not that I'm going strictly off points for, but I don't love, I don't love his running back room.
00:25:54
Speaker
I know Najee finally had a really good game, but Najee's questionable. Devin Singletary is questionable. He's been hurt. Mooney has come on. Not going to lie. Mooney was a great pick. Rashad white has been relegated to the bench. That did not work out. Bucky Irving has taken over that backfield. So he's really relying on the Giants running back room.
00:26:17
Speaker
That's challenging. It's challenging, especially with Tyrone Tracy playing as well as he has while Devin Singletary was hurt. I think that that's going to become a split backfield there. I think the giants are going to slowly devolve into what the giants do. They're going to give a little bit of hope at the beginning of the season. Uh, their coach lost a lot of weight. Everything's really exciting. And then they're just going to fatten up by the holidays and be worthless. Uh,
00:26:44
Speaker
I don't, I don't see any league winners in this lineup. I also don't see any, I just don't really see any consistency. Jordan love maybe is his most consistent player and he's just now kind of catching a strike coming back from injury. Garrett Wilson. Ah, I just don't know what happens with the jets receiver room.
00:27:06
Speaker
I really don't. I heard they're they're looking to offload Mike Williams now. So that's interesting. i don't I don't think the Jets are in a good spot. I don't care if they picked up Devontae. Aaron Rodgers is your head coach is a bad call. Everyone knows that Aaron Rodgers is the one that got so solid a fired. So TBD, TBD on Bobby. I'm taking him at number eight. All right. That gives me the old man at number seven.
00:27:33
Speaker
Easy pick here. Couple things to go through. Unresolved quarterback situation. He's starting Deontay Johnson this week, who I know has had a couple of good weeks. But he's starting Deontay Johnson and he's starting a Patriot, Ramon Dre Stevenson. You don't want to start two of those guys. DeErnest Johnson. You know, Etienne's hurt. Obviously that's always got him in there, but his tank Bigsby not healthy right now. So he's just trying to pick up a scrap there.
00:28:01
Speaker
And it's just a bad bye week with DJ Moore and DeAndre Swift. I see AJ losing this week. Well, he is playing yes, Chef. Maybe maybe he could sneak by in the low 80s, but tough start for the Cougar and I don't see it getting better for a little bit here. Number six, I'm glad this guy is still on the board because I'm facing off of them this week and I am not scared.
00:28:25
Speaker
I'm just gonna go ahead and state it. Blake and the Marsh Cats are not afraid of Trevor Lawrence and the White Rhino. I'll just repeat that. I am not afraid of Trevor Lawrence. ah Four game win streak. We were jazzed him up earlier. What happened, Rhino? I know you're listening. Even if you choose not to partake in our banter most of the the week, I do appreciate you coming out with one comment this week. It's a new record for you so far.
00:28:54
Speaker
A 68 point win isn't impressive right now. You played the Amish who, who came in at, where did they come in in again? James and our, and our power rankings here. What do we draft the Amish? Oh, they're 10th. Yeah. They were 10th. Yeah. So congrats on your 68 to 57 win over the Amish. Yeah. I had no idea it was that ugly. That was the first time I saw that matchup score.
00:29:20
Speaker
Yeah. I know. Um, I will, I might've, I might've had you further back, but yeah I got to give props to a four game win streak. Trevor Lawrence really no fear there. There are some pieces here. Tony Pollard. Interesting. Interesting. I believe that Tony Pollard could, could have some, some carries cut by Spears emergence. He loses about a third to half of his carries there.
00:29:51
Speaker
I'm sorry about Alman Ra and his fall off. I loved the Sun Guide. I think Rob was supposed to give you the Sun Guide jersey right now. Let's just double check on that one. But I did give that jersey to Rob to to hand to you. Jayden Reed.
00:30:08
Speaker
Yeah. Jane Reed's a good pick. I like Jane Reed. T Higgins starting to play well, but not really. Kyron can't hate on Kyron. Love my guy, Kyron. But I think your core, I think your core anytime you have a team led by Trevor Lawrence and, and a team that is. That is essentially propped up by, by just fake wins. You're kind of, you're kind of like the Jags right now. Right now, maybe.
00:30:37
Speaker
Maybe there's some hope for you, but the ball bounced a couple of different ways. You'd be one in five playing in London right now. So not, not scared of Trevor Lawrence. We'll move on. That puts me to number five. I'm taking the bandwagoner here. Rosetta stone two and four team at number five is pretty strong, Andrew. And there's lots to be happy about for you right now. Baker has been an absolute revelation this year. I mean,
00:31:05
Speaker
if you're watching last year he was playing well but this year let's see he's fantasy quarterback number two incredible Camara looks good Breece Hall he'll probably get a little bit of a shot in the arm with less ah defenders in the box once Devontae is here and you got Devontae finally in a startable position he was probably never hurt he just wanted to get the hell out of Vegas And what do you know? Christian Watson off of, you guessed it, waivers. There's some talent in the starting lineup. Wish I had not dropped them. Bad move by me. And although Andrew's team is a little bit top heavy, they're just solid. And you know, Andrew's teams are going to score points. So that's why I got him here. All right. That was number five. Four to go. Four to go. Top four playoff teams.
00:31:55
Speaker
ah At number four, I got the smooth moves. Definitely a solid squad. I think some results have have bounced your way. And again, I'm not going to talk about the gap in end points four between like myself and you, for example, which would be over 100. But I just think you've had some favorable results. You've had some some matchups throughout the weeks where A lot of times you could have gone down there. I know you put up 90 in week six, which was which was great. had Had a tough week against the old men and in week five and put up 93 in week four to win. and You know, you just kind of cruised on through. I i feel like your team, James, and and I feel like we can talk candidly about this, is caught in a little bit of a quarterback controversy. I know you've talked about this.
00:32:52

Do I start Kylo or do I start Jayden? I think the emergence of Jayden Daniels has been really fun to watch, but I do feel like it's a guessing game and it's a coin toss at this point, which is good and bad. ah And now we go into this week and it looks like you're going with Jayden. Joe Mixon coming back helps a lot. The Binkles backfield is a little bit confusing, but I do like what I've seen from Chase Brown.
00:33:19
Speaker
Justin Jefferson is a stud. Everyone knew that Malik neighbors. Wow. What a scoop. But the man that I am absolutely shocked to see in your lineup. Then you know who it is. Kyle Pitts. You put them back in. You got some guys, you got some good players on the bench too. You got Algier on the bench and you're putting in Kyle Pitts. We'll see how, we'll see how, we'll see how it works out for you. Kyle Pitts over Tyler Lockett. Interesting. Interesting.
00:33:49
Speaker
But yeah, so a lot of, a lot of things, a lot of things happening on that bench. I think my depth is starting to come together, getting some guys back healthy, maybe even Cooper cup this week. That lineup could look a lot different. One thing I would say about my team, have I gotten a little fortunate at this point? Yes. But you got to take advantage of the breaks while they're there. And I'll tell you this at five and one, my team has not played its best football yet. So there are good days ahead.
00:34:19
Speaker
Let's go to number three. I am going to take a team who has no name, two games slide, but Larry's team is still good. Okay. They've got plenty of pop. I think Devontae leaving is only going to be better for Brock Bowers. Lamar looks like he's going to be the MVP this year. I liked Detroit to keep rolling probably in some higher scoring games, which will be good for Gibbs now that Hutchison is out for them. And when you're Putting people like Ayuk, Addison, Dubs on the bench. I mean, Larry's got some options. Zae Flowers and Marvin Harrison do not seem like consistent guys, but they're very much, they go off, you win that week type guys. And I think Larry seems pretty healthy right now. And as we stated at the beginning of the year, he's got Chubb coming back very, very soon. And Larry's got, I think the deepest team in the league.
00:35:20
Speaker
So I think he's going to, he's going to bounce back. I don't, I don't foresee a three game losing streak for Larry. No, I couldn't agree more. I think getting into the top half here, you've got to also acknowledge that a little more and say Quan are probably the the best QB RB. Duo that you can have in fantasy this year. Uh, yeah, I had him here too late. Yeah. And, and, and, and with Gus Edwards injury.
00:35:48
Speaker
JK Dobbins has completely taken over that backfield and finally been the player that we all, we all knew he could be. Larry's team is scary. I agree. I, I, I bounced back and forth with them at my, uh, my number one slot. So falling at number three. Interesting. Okay. Uh, number two, I guess, I guess that that'll, that'll leave my team. That'll leave me at number two.
00:36:14
Speaker
i don't I don't have a lot to say about my team other than we are we are the top scorers in the league. We've lost three games, but we are healthy. If you go top to bottom of my roster, you don't even see a cue. And I love that. I love that. I got some tough decisions. I got some tough decisions to make. I got Juju, who's essentially taken over as the the chief's wide receiver one. He's on my bench. I got tanks tank Tank Bigsby is,
00:36:43
Speaker
I feel like taking over the Jaguars backfield. Let's see if they can start to score points, but the Etienne days are done in Jacksonville. That's clear. Waddle is on my bench. Tua, if he ever comes back, Waddle becomes very relevant. C.D. is on a bye, but I'm still able to start. Scary Terry, Devonta Smith, Jameson Williams, who looks like the wide receiver one in Detroit.
00:37:11
Speaker
Everyone kind of sleeps on David Montgomery, but he just gets touchdowns. Josh Allen is Josh Allen. And I'm not gonna lie, my best pick of the draft was definitely King Henry. ah not to Not to just talk about my own squad here, but that's that's who I'm drafting. I expected Derek Henry to be good. I didn't expect him to be number one ranked running back six weeks in good. So shout out King Henry.
00:37:40
Speaker
the Titans definitely miss you yeah, I really thought you're gonna take the bait there and Take will so I would have to pick you at number one so classy move there Yeah, I like your team Blake. It is very healthy some would say too healthy and You are afforded the the luxury of having a really good starting lineup with your number one pick on by I would say you are definitely a playoff team and you are competing with Larry for the deepest team. It's it's pretty close. so how Are you peaking too early though? Do you have a big trade up your sleeve? These are all questions that have to be asked. Yeah. Well, I mean, I have some weak spots on my team. i Like I said, I have a plethora of wide receivers. Cough, cough.
00:38:35
Speaker
team looking for receivers at the bottom of the standings. I'd be wanting to do business. the the The doors are always open. I just i like trades with a little bit of impact. so Got a pretty stacked wide receiver room if any anyone is looking for some pass catchers. Is the Bijon Dijon chicken sandwich you had a sign of your interest in the trade market?
00:39:01
Speaker
you know Bijan finding his way back on on the Marsh Cats squad worked out pretty well last year. and And we always welcome back former players. We're kind of like, <unk> we're a real brotherhood here on the Marsh Cats. We welcome our former stars, Amon Ra, Kyron, Bijan, you'll always have a special place.
00:39:27
Speaker
in the marsh cat lore. And if you ever choose to come back or if you ever want to retire a marsh cat, you can, you can come back and, uh, be happy to do a little parade for you or a ceremony of some sort. Yeah. So that leaves us at number one in the power rankings, the West Hillbillies preserved by pilot five and one confident, winning games, calling them early.
00:39:56
Speaker
I'm curious if you agree with me on this about Will. Fall Will is the best version of Will, and he's just, he's absolutely dialed right now. His social calendar is full. He's hosting tailgates. The Vols are beating Florida. I can't even imagine being around Will after the Bama game, which I hope I will be maybe smoking a cigar on his back porch.
00:40:20
Speaker
Just everything feels like it's aligning for Will, kind of like it did in this championship season. He was just less is more. I'm not trading. I'm not even going to make a waiver move. I'm just going to sit back and watch my team dominate. And that's what they've been doing so far. I'm curious if you can pull up the fantasy pro stuff and give us some different data while I pull up Will here, but it's saying he's got an 87% chance at making the playoffs.
00:40:50
Speaker
I would go higher than that. You know, essentially eight wins is an absolute lock. So things are looking good. I don't know what he's got this week in terms of buys or anything going on. None team is pretty healthy. Will rostering two defenses right now. I kind of liked that move and Jonathan Taylor. We'll see if he comes back this week, but solid squad here. Yeah.
00:41:20
Speaker
I mean, you're right. Will is, he's in peak Will. It's not just the fall. It's this latter half of the calendar year, just in totality. I feel like Will is a classic extrovert. He he thrives off of social engagements, like you mentioned, vols football, great, great family weekends and When the Vols are playing well, Will's getting his social battery charged up. you start to You start to see him really come into his own and he carries a certain swagger about his team. And and and will that be a false swagger? Time will tell. Time will tell. you know A lot of people over manage their teams. They they try to win by transactions.
00:42:16
Speaker
I think the sweet spot's somewhere in the middle, but no shocker that the... Well, actually, the bomb squad has the least moves in the league this year, which is looking it up. Very interesting little tidbit there. At five moves all year. Will only has eight moves all year. ah You shift to someone like the Amish.
00:42:36
Speaker
a Shout out to to our Amish friend, Rob.
00:42:44
Speaker
Rob has 29 transactions this year. So I like Will's approach here. I really do like Will's approach. He's he's staying the course and will the course stay him? Time will tell. Time will tell. He's in a good spot. Let's let him enjoy his moment in the sun.
00:43:04
Speaker
Let's do it, man. Well, we broke down enough of a fantasy football talk for one night. Uh, don't really need to go into predictions for next week. How's the nursery coming along, Blake?

Home Renovations and Winter Meetings

00:43:16
Speaker
Yeah, I'm in a different.
00:43:18
Speaker
different environment tonight out in the dining room. It is going okay, it's going okay. We're looking at a ah like a floral green, not floral, it's more of a muted green color that we're trying to paint right now and so I've been banished to the the dining room. ah Before we let all of our viewers yours hop, James, I did want to just do one last look at our current shame off standings and I wanted to give a special shout out to
00:44:12
Speaker
I would just like to say that one, we do appreciate Will's content coming out for the ah staring down the barrel of a one in five. But James, you you highlighted this earlier on the yeah the Signal app. The bottom four is perfect right now.
00:44:30
Speaker
It's perfect. And i'm I'm not just saying this from like a biased lens. I would say from a neutral viewpoint, if we could freeze the bottom four, most neutrals would love to see this battle. And and honestly, it would be more interesting to me that the playoff, which is what the shame offs have become. But let's talk about staring down the battle of the shame offs. If you had to take.
00:44:58
Speaker
a shame off winner or more, more commonly known as a norm out of these four teams. Who do you got? Who's your gut instinct if the bottom four entered the shame offs today? Well, my gut instinct says that Christian McCaffrey comes back and gets re injured within two games and Rob wins the norm.
00:45:20
Speaker
it just feels like a negative energy breeds more negative energy type thing that rob's got going on right now and rob might get hurt again and break his ankle before mccaffrey even comes back it's just i'm not sure what's going to happen next but i can't wait to see and yes indeed it is a perfect bottom four no matter how you want to slice up those match ups. You got three guys who are normally playoff contenders and then Jake. Um, so I, I really, they're uncomfortable down there. I don't think they know what it does to your thinking. Once you end up down there, it gets very distorted. Uh, obviously ha ha. I've got three. So do you, uh, we are familiar with what it does to a man and
00:46:15
Speaker
I can't wait to watch it just destroy them all mentally. So except for Jake, of course, who's who's been down there a couple of times. And I guess Rob's got one. Yeah. Yeah. Well, Rob wouldn't have one if it wasn't for Larry's amendment. So as much as the traditionalists like to be anti change, one of the traditionalists, Larry came up with the law that sent Rob to his his hill run.
00:46:44
Speaker
Yeah, i'm gonna I'm gonna start to lean raw, but then then I just have to think logically, and and it feels like AJ's year. it It just feels like AJ's year. I said it from the get-go, I know you predicted him as a champion, but the old man, I just don't see the old man escaping it this time. I think he's two. I think he's two. I'm going with AJ. Yeah, that...
00:47:12
Speaker
Seeing him run the hill again, people forget he was not the norm when he ran the hill. He just lost the side bet. That was a side bet. It's a real hard one for me, but I still ah cherish the AJ hill run over the rob, the fat rob hill run. that was yeah Those were two of the better ones for sure. Yeah, I think we can all agree that the bottom four right now would all be a fantastic fantastic group to run the hill.
00:47:42
Speaker
There's not a single person in the bottom four I wouldn't really enjoy seeing run the hill. But I think Rob, again, with coming off of injury, with apparently his daughter talking about his fitness. ah Yeah, I think that would be pretty pretty hilarious. As well as AJ. I mean, AJ and Rob both running, Andrew,
00:48:09
Speaker
Jake would probably be in pretty good shape. Um, I think Jake would handle it if he, if he wasn't too cool to run up the Hill, but, uh, yeah, looking forward to looking forward to the Hill run as usual. We'll see, uh, we'll see what the commissioner gets going for winter meetings. I, uh, I feel like it's almost time to start talking about winter meetings and get something on the calendar as we, as we barrel towards the new year. Well, maybe he'll, uh, he'll release the.
00:48:36
Speaker
winter meeting date on the website or something. Could happen, could happen soon. Yeah, could happen soon. Could happen soon. James, it's been stoned by Cornbread and this has been our already our eighth episode this season. I appreciate you as always joining. I hope but that ah you you and the family are well. and heard I heard you had a lot of fun outside at Big J investigating this weekend. So hopefully you recovered.
00:49:05
Speaker
um playing some golf today. So I think you're you're probably back in the game, but ah yeah rock we're arrested, ready and ready to smoke a cigar Saturday night. So it's going to be a great week. Big weekend. Great week. Thanks for tuning in. We will see everyone whenever we see you.
