Victory Lane vibes: Welcome to another episode of victory lane vibes. We are your hostesses with the most assist It's Jared, it's Peyton, it's Art, it's Madeline, and we are here after...
Victory Lane vibes: A rainy Richmond. like look at that Is that alliteration? Is that what you call that? Anywho. We're here with Richmond. Um, I don't have anything fun or witty to say. I'll see if that light's too bright. So let's start the show.
Victory Lane vibes: Zilli season started this afternoon with Conor Zillich being announced as the new driver for the Hendrick Motorsports 48 starting in 2028. Your thoughts and who's the biggest winner and loser in this deal?
Victory Lane vibes: Madeline. Our resident. Zilly. extraordinary. Give us your take. Are you excited or not?
Madelyn: I mean, I'm excited because I'm a 100 motorsports fan. Can you hear me?
Madelyn: You hear me?
Victory Lane vibes: Yes.
Art: Yeah.
Madelyn: Um. I'm excited because I'm a Hendrick Motorsports fan. But... I am... worried that this is gonna be another like oh he's going to be in a better car so he's immediately going to be better situation because I don't think that the 48 is instantly going to be a magical race winning.
Madelyn: car inherently just because Connor Zilich is in it now, not Alex Bowman. Um. I'm excited Obviously it's better than Trackhouse. I think Trackhouse is the loser in this situation. and Connor is clearly the winner and whoever told Connor to not just stay with track house just to stay with track house Is the winner in this situation?
Madelyn: Um. I'll be interested to see. how this plays out given the Corey Day, Kyle Larson.
Madelyn: Situation of it all because I know some people thought Corey might end up in the 48 I'll be interested to see who ends up in the 88.
Madelyn: But thank God Connor's not in a track house car anymore.
Victory Lane vibes: Now, um um um my follow -up question to you is I saw some online murmurings that... Um, Hendrix to take the 88 back from track house. And. Lead.
Victory Lane vibes: Connor keep his number and have it stylized the way Junior did when he was in 88. Um, Do you think that that should be a... A plan to keep his number? Are you cool with him stepping into it? Jimmy Johnson shoes.
Victory Lane vibes: And I worded that on purpose.
Madelyn: Bye, guys. somebody who like Dale Jr. was who like... my dad rooted for growing up. like I like the 88 number I think the 88 number is cool.
Madelyn: I don't think it's going to happen. I would love to see Connor keep the 88, but I don't think he has enough of a like. emotional connection for that number. Or like me. Rick Hendrick to be like fighting for that number back or anything.
Madelyn: Writing would be cool. But I don't think it's happening.
Victory Lane vibes: it's fair Stranger things happen. I just wanted to. Did I ask you that because I saw those? Hmm, I'll save that for the show. Peyton, what about you? Are you hype? Is he gonna...
Victory Lane vibes: Do the things that Alex Bowman said he was going to in the 48.
PEYTON: I don't recall Alex Bowman ever making any strong claims about what he was or was not going to do. in that vehicle but
Art: Slander
PEYTON: Hey. I also said... on side chat that... Why wait till 2028 to make this happen? Why not go and switch them for next year? Listen. There's.
PEYTON: There's a whole. you know Coming home. for Alex Bowman. You put him in the 88. And then when she started to send her career in. And then also he gets the performance of those BK racing cars that he used to drive as a starting par if he goes to the current iteration of the 88. So it all it all makes for a nice bow on his career.
PEYTON: that I think we're really missing out on. But. In all seriousness. For Connor Zilch, this is... the best case scenario. I think the only downside is is that he essentially has to burn a good year of his career in that.
PEYTON: uh track house equipment that has glimpses every once in a while maybe once every three races they will show to be competent on ovals and then SVG. will look to be competitive on most road courses but outside of that Thank you.
PEYTON: failed to recapture the magic from 2022 2023. and they're looking a lot more like Chip Ganassi's team and Sabco. So. yeah I think there are a lot of question marks for that team. in general, but If you're a Conrad Zilich enjoyer. You have to be very happy about this.
Victory Lane vibes: art
Art: Do we have the... Have we had Conor Zillow's extremist yet? Has that become... i think i know we talked last we talked about the bubble wallace extremists but the the level walls extremists are not eating well the connor's village extremists are bellying up to the bar and eating very well tonight. um i I like this move. I think it's a...
Art: it's kind of I don't want to call it an aggressive move, but it's a very smart move right just to lock him down early. right There's no... time for any other bids to come in. There's no time for, for track house to try to get good, right? Like what if.
Art: What if, you know, this time next year, Trackhouse is like... back up to Decent standing. and then if you're hms you have to try to to bid against that like The track house stock has never been lower in Conor Zilich's eyes. than right now, right? like They are tractors.
Art: um so i think they're the big winners honestly i And we've I've talked about it on here, and we have as well. I think he's a ah franchise driver. I think he's going to be you know the cornerstone of that team for the next. 15 years honestly um and i think If you can get that guy locked up, you can. You have to. I think the the losers in this are...
Art: There's three losers. There's track house. Cause. You thought this guy was gonna be yours and you were gonna snipe him out from under you and from under everyone else and he's gone. You have Corey Day, who... thought that he was you know the chosen one to get a seat.
Art: And then, you know who's a small loser in this? It's kind of Alex Bowman, because... And i I hate defending it because I'm not an Alex Bowman fan at all, but like... you you get these concussions, you get these injuries, which you never want to see, which is tough. You're ending your career early, which I don't care what they say. If you truth serum Alex Bowman, he would tell you he just wants to keep racing. Like, let's not pretend.
Art: Um... His last day 200 500 he doesn't even get to race with his own number which i'm not gonna say is a good or bad decision but if i'm alex bowman i do not like it Right. And that's kind of ah a kick in the shin on the way out the door. Like this is a race. He's come really close to winning. like He was this close to winning. The 500.
Art: um not too long ago. Um, And now it's almost like the... It's bad enough when you you're getting ready to leave. But then when your job already has your replacement hired. and there's anticipation for it.
Art: And your replacement may be better than you at it. And you just kind of have to. Keep working. FUR - A year?
PEYTON: Do you think they'll have him train him, like, on, hey...
Art: That's it.
PEYTON: uh alex can you give uh Can you give Connor a tour of the place and show him how to use the get into the weight room?
Art: I don't... I don't think they'll make him train him, but I do think he will be in the building while Conor's getting a walkthrough. And they'll be like, oh, yeah, this is going to be your office. Oh, hey. Hey, Alex. hey So, yeah, they'll bell be this this will be yours. And let's keep going. like that moment's gonna happen, right? And so, like...
Art: That's kind of tough like that's real tough that's a tough way to go out um You know, that's ah that's a real... bitter so pill to go out on and like i said i don't love alex but Um... Just as a person, that's kind of tough. um So yeah, those are the big three losers. But yeah, I think it's super smart.
Art: I am also a big winner in this as a Corey Day hater. because I got to see all of the coping and seething from the Cory Day Truthers on the timeline.
Art: Hashtag pray for Corey Day was shown.
Victory Lane vibes: ah
Art: And I'll just say this. There's no candles lit for him in my house. That's all I'm going to say. there ain't That's all I'm going to say. So I, too, am the big winner in this, and I'm very happy about it.
Victory Lane vibes: You know, it's... um Obviously the one out of this is kind of village. I mean he He gets. Pulled up to an 18. With a money. um I know the Red Bull signing was a big deal. The WeatherTech signing was a big deal.
Victory Lane vibes: to try and give them some funding to give him some proper equipment. But Ally made the boss call and was like, hey. Go get them. Blink check. And they got them. I feel like that's kind of cool that the sponsor like seeks you out and say, oh I don't care what it costs.
Victory Lane vibes: Saw my driver. So that's awesome. I think the lurers the losers are definitely Justin Marks in this equation. Somebody said on Twitter. If. Chevrolet allowed that to happen.
Victory Lane vibes: then they should leave Chevrolet. You know what I mean? At this point in the year. They're not really, they're not going to do much for you. Call Dodge. Lake Holligan and track house come to be the first Dodge teams. That way I get a Dodge and Daytona.
Victory Lane vibes: next year. We should make that happen.
Art: Yes, let your struggling race team go to a brand new manufacturer.
Victory Lane vibes: Absolutely. Yes.
Art: That can only work well.
Victory Lane vibes: Yes.
Art: History has only shown new manufacturers to be.
Victory Lane vibes: Hey look man.
Art: Hot out the gate. Can you imagine?
PEYTON: Hey, it got me a Daytona 500 with Sterling Marlin. Same team.
Art: How long ago was that?
Victory Lane vibes: Talk about it.
Art: How long ago was that?
Victory Lane vibes: Talk about it.
PEYTON: Doesn't matter.
Art: It does matter.
Victory Lane vibes: It does matter.
PEYTON: Dodge. no i mean they they have a history there of dodge they've got daytona 500 victory off of it like
Victory Lane vibes: First year out.
PEYTON: The timeline does work.
Art: this is a This is a different America than than when that happened, okay? You can't, you can't.
PEYTON: It's an America we need to go back to.
Art: Well...
Victory Lane vibes: Absolutely. um So i'd I'd say that that that should be in the cards as well. But. you know where this where this track house go from here i mean obviously you have svg I mean he's still him.
Victory Lane vibes: Um, But what do you do? Apparently they're they're still in it for the long haul. um the rumor started as soon as Conor got signed that. Track House is going to start piecing off charters and closing up shop. And apparently Justin Marks committed to being it here in the long haul.
Victory Lane vibes: um ultimately i think it comes down to pitbull you know if you didn't kick big bull out Connor would have stayed because he'd have a fast car. But we'll never get that timeline.
Art: You know? Who's also a winner in this You know who's who's... Drinking an unhealthy amount of wine tonight Daniel Suarez.
Victory Lane vibes: Jeff Gordon.
Art: no no no Daniel Suarez.
Victory Lane vibes: Why?
Art: He... Because... You kicked this man out the door, justifiably in my eyes at the time. For this young man. Not only is Daniel Suarez running better than all the track house guys.
Art: But the guy you kicked him out for is now leaving you. Like. I know he's he's very happy. The Suarez house is a very happy house tonight.
PEYTON: Quick correction just so I don't get called out by our listeners for not knowing wheel. Story of Milan did not win the Daytona 500 in a dodge. He actually was the guy who hopped out of the car and tried to adjust his fender during the red flag.
Art: o
PEYTON: and then benny parsons you know where everyone's saying you can't do that and yeah so actually Maybe not a great move, but... He was in the hunt. for a day.
Victory Lane vibes: TVB. TV States Mission, bro.
PEYTON: 100.
Victory Lane vibes: TV stays snitching. More on that later. Um, So that's that. Moving on. Juliana won Saturday evening, moving him to ninth. and the point standings.
Victory Lane vibes: He's ah rallied from 20th to 9th over the last six weeks. Is it even your Joey time? All right, I'll start with you.
Art: No. Move on no Um...
Victory Lane vibes: Oi, Bonte.
Art: it Um... I say no only because there's no points reset. There's no rounds to save him. There's no winning in to.
Art: because the thing with winning in right is not only do you Do you automatically advance? But you automatically cut. four of your competitors Out. Right like that's another part of it right like you're whittling the field down just by having that one good week.
Art: Um... And yeah, his his rally to over these last couple of weeks and getting a couple of wins is very impressive. It's not really surprising because this is a very... grizzled like veteran team. That is...
Art: Really clutch like that's the one thing about Penske I'll say is like they are not the fastest week in and week out But they are probably the most clutch organization right like they just seem to know the last couple of years when to win at the most opportune times So like I'm not really surprised by it, but do I think he's gonna be a favorite? No, I still think Denny is better um i mean ty has been really consistent this year i think he's better um So i mean I really do think it's Denny or Bust at this point. um i'm i'm getting ready to
Art: Put all my chips in on 11. But I don't think he can just because. They, well. i don't don't think they'll be able to maintain that level of success in the playoffs and also the The playoffs are not littered with just tracks that he's really good at, right? like He's not great at Darlington. He's not great at Tyler Digger. He's not bad at any of these tracks because he's a... three -time champion. I'm not acting like he sucks, but...
Art: The tracks that he seems to really specialize and optimize in. aren't consistently there for him to win around it and and clutch out to the next month. So I don't think he's going to be a favorite.
Victory Lane vibes: Madeline.
Madelyn: i'm still on the it's gonna be a toyota whether it's denny Or someone else. I'm not going to put the Ty Gibbs championship in the air. like Art just did.
Madelyn: But. I mean... I just don't, I don't see a world where if a Ford. wins the championship. it's Joey Logano, not with the system that's set up. like I think he's done good, but I don't think he's been consistent enough, and I don't think he's going to keep being consistent enough.
Madelyn: to land himself. a championship just because it's an even year, I think those days might be. behind our good pal Joey Logano. I had to. answer the question. It's probably Dunny.
Victory Lane vibes: Just like his hairline. Pete.
Art: Come on man. Come on, man.
PEYTON: Arten.
Art: I thought...
PEYTON: oh good
Art: No, I just thought you were gonna say that the powers in his hair to quote a certain rapper and Since he doesn't have it anymore. that's ah which is a much classier reference than what you did, Jared, but that's okay. Sorry, Peyton.
PEYTON: No. I think Madeline and Art. make really good points. I will say this. They have really... turned that operation around. When you look at their...
PEYTON: recent results, you know, starting with Chicago land. You got a 12 -point finish. After that, ninth in Atlanta. One at North Wilkesboro. third in Indianapolis, 14th in Iowa, and then wins at... Richmond.
PEYTON: You compare that to... you know, Prior in the season, there were a lot of stuff with in the 20s a few in the 30s. It was... pretty ugly. So they've really turned things around.
PEYTON: I'd like to see how the next two weeks go. If they come out looking great in New Hampshire and if they come out looking strong in... Daytona. He's not going to be a championship favorite, but he could easily and might probably go into the championship as like the seventh seed.
PEYTON: you know right around that range which you're You're an outside shot, but you're in the hunt. I wouldn't. put a lot of money against him. No. part of my being wants to see him hoisting a legitimate. Championship trophy.
PEYTON: like We do not need that. No one wants that.
Victory Lane vibes: ye
PEYTON: It was great when we could sit there and say that he was... a good driver but it's Chamber tips were a little bit goofy and... You can... poke holes and things. If he wins it like this.
PEYTON: This is would be a...
PEYTON: Tony Stewart -esque, getting hot. And just. finishing off a season strong. I think, if ah like everyone else said, I think it's going to be a Toyota -powered car. If there is a good balance in the universe, I would say a Denny Hamlin because he's had a...
PEYTON: Fantastic season. So. you know He's the only person I can... comfortably say is the favorite for the championship and it really doesn't put many made any poor steps and had any substantial fall offs but Like I said, if he goes in this seventh place... you know, Joey Logano might be able to get himself his first leg legitimate championship, which... I would paint all of us. Or at least me.
Art: He's 36 points from sixth place. Sixth and seventh third. Tide. to the number But he's 36. points back. So that's.
PEYTON: It could happen.
Art: That's doable. if I mean if they they won at New Hampshire, I wouldn't be shocked like That's another like those those flat wide tracks that like they're very good at like Penske is always very good at
PEYTON: No. It's... Yeah.
Victory Lane vibes: I um... and I don't know whether this quote is on his pit box or inside of his car or at the wall or not. his side of the Penske shot, but for the haters is his slogan for.
Victory Lane vibes: this fourth championship. And, um I am a hater, and if he wins it for me, then good on him. I feel like if you. If you come back from the depths of hell that you've been in all year to win a championship, you deserve it.
Victory Lane vibes: And. um If anybody, if any team, if any organization is is strong enough and clutch enough like Art said to do such a dastardly thing, it would be Penske. Um,
Victory Lane vibes: I would hate it, but I'd also applaud the effort that... it took to to do such an atrocity. um but the he's gotten out at the right time. this. point system Pays being consistent.
Victory Lane vibes: um As we can see with the top contenders. um and even consistency in early parts of the of the year keeps you safe a lot tyler reddick so um i'm here to see it it's going to be a hate watch for sure but Um,
Victory Lane vibes: i to a mother of the idea of it's going to be a toyota but um If it's going to be a Ford. He's got to beat his teammate, and I think. Blaney, just for obvious reasons, has been way, way more consistent this year. but ah We'll see. We got some some time to to figure it out.
Victory Lane vibes: um I still think the sweet spot is like, you know, TV has said, you got to be in the top eight to to make a true run at the championship. Um, I know there's a lot of squawking about the the cut line and all that stuff, but there's nobody. 14th 15th 16th 13th, 12th, that's gonna...
Victory Lane vibes: just magically get hot in. surmount a 500 -point deficit to to win a championship. so I'm here to watch. We'll see what happens. It'll definitely make a, add an exciting cog to.
Victory Lane vibes: the postseason, so to speak. Fill in the blank. The Racing at Richmond Raceway. was... Dot dot dot. Peyton.
PEYTON: Unremarkable. Like it wasn't a bad race.
Art: oh
PEYTON: It just... We had some difference in pitch strategies. you had You had the things that seemed to work well. Apparently it was also a high mark for green flag.
PEYTON: Passes. So. I think this is one of the ones where... Arp. collective favorite driver having a Awful race.
PEYTON: took a lot of the shine off it compared to last year where Bubba looked like he was in the hunt was in the hunt for a win, which can really listen. I look back fondly on some of those god -awful Martinsville races because Bo Wallace got like a top five. I'm like, listen, that's a classic. And you look at the stat line and there was no past. And he got his track position off of.
PEYTON: off of like pit road. So. truthfully going back and re -looking at this race It was solid. But is it one that's going to be remembered as a classic? Are there ever going to be highlights or? or use anything of a promo.
PEYTON: Is anything from this race gonna be used as a promo? No. And I still think... It's a shame because this track has come a long way. It started to feel like the action track. This was a little bit more tame. It was More in the crew chief's hands, even though you once again.
PEYTON: you know The tire fall off was there. The... handling matter because you know the 750 horsepower it seemed like cars that handled well could make their way through in cars that couldn't handle well made their way back.
PEYTON: The only thing I didn't notice was I still haven't seen any indication that the removing of the bumper supports has made any substantial difference. I mean, I don't know what the overall aim was because the driver said they were tired of getting just.
PEYTON: Uh, you know, piled into So I don't know if essentially that removes the ability for them to... spin one another or just sort of those short track sort of shenanigans but I'm still trying to figure out what the true how that's played out but Yeah, a fine race if I was voting in the Jeff Gluck poll I probably would have said, well, let me go ahead and do... the objectively good thing and hit the yes button but secretly I want to smash the note because I immediately deleted it.
PEYTON: I want to take a nap. I was furious. It was cranky. And I... Yeah fell asleep on the couch. Was it like... 25 laps ago so Yeah.
Victory Lane vibes: Madeline with the... the research that you were able to put forth this evening. um What were your takes on the that Richard Ricks?
Madelyn: i watch accumulative.
Madelyn: 25 laps. of this race after dinner on Saturday night.
Victory Lane vibes: So much as much as art watched.
Madelyn: before me and my best friend fell asleep on the couch. and woke up to the NASCAR Americana show or whatever came on after the race.
Art: o
Madelyn: Um. objectively, I'm sure it was a fine race. Chase. chase Chase got a top five, so I had it. Good day, I guess. I mean...
Madelyn: I didn't get to go back and watch it, so I feel like I can't really have an opinion on it other than...
Madelyn: Someone I didn't like. i don't like one so i'm gonna go with the no on the jeff gluck polo fight and being unbiased. or being biased.
Victory Lane vibes: Let's go. I like that. All right, Art. Speak your peace.
Art: oh well the The word for this race to me was underwhelming. It felt very underwhelming and... It's Tough. This is a really hard race. to... to rank. or categorized because on paper it has everything you want there's long green flag runs there's pit strategy there's Drivers losing their shit and wrecking.
Art: and you know There's a battle at the end. right there's The leader isn't 10 seconds ahead. like It's got all the all the ingredients are there. for it to to be.
Art: you know an amazing race But I really just felt underwhelmed. um Jared and I went to the to the race. We sat there in person. We watched it. We watched a lot of it.
Art: And I just felt bored. And I don't. and I struggled. for the last day and a half to try to come. I drove five hours back to Charlotte trying to come up with the words to explain.
Art: why I felt so bored, and... I think it's... It's a couple of things. the One hand, Peyton touched on it and kind of stole my thunder that the whole bumper issue changes that were done.
Art: Don't really seem to have done much of anything, right? We saw Denny give somebody a shot going into one. I forget who it was now. I think it might have been Cendric. Gave him a shot. And I mean, just tanked it. And just kept going like. literally did not come out of the groove.
Art: you know. half a tire with Um, So it feels like there is no ability to bump and run, which is the. The one thing you have to get right with NASCAR short tracks, I feel like, that and the tire fall off.
Art: um And the other thing is... You know, I watched Some old clips. and I try not to be, you know, a slave to the nostalgia. But it feels like a lot of these.
Art: These older races, the cars just feel like they're more on edge. and i know we've talked about like this car with the wider tires and everything and the big brakes But it just feels like. They're really pushing it out there.
Art: And that's not to say that the today's drivers aren't trying, because I think they definitely are. But. It just seems like these cars are so stable that... There's not a lot of unpredictability in what happens. It doesn't seem like there's enough room for error when you're trying to push.
Art: And so it just feels kind of safe and it just. it feels like it's just a carousel and like, yeah, if you do the different pit strategies, you you might get ahead or fall back, but. a lot of that gets ruined by the stage cautions, right? like it just kind of ruins the strategy over the length of the race so I don't know, man. I think it was fine. like It's an acceptable gen...
Art: seven short track race, which is like a. for me like a 3 .5 out of 10 like it's not a good race But like. it tried like this race really tried and it just came up short for me.
Victory Lane vibes: I... am
Victory Lane vibes: My word would be.
Victory Lane vibes: cluster. um And I put lackluster on. the racing product itself. Personally, I was a huge fan of all the the different tire strategies. Huge fan of what Cliff Daniels and Kyle Larson did to help get him to the track position.
Victory Lane vibes: But. the ignorance of 2026 NASCAR racing. are the stage breaks. So you really didn't. get a chance to see like how it was going to play out when you run out of tires with 100 laps to go I think this race was really apparent about how.
Victory Lane vibes: Stage racing is a gimmick because you have three separate races. And you do what you have to do to be good for. 100 laps and then you pit and you do something else and you you drive again for another hundred laps or whatever the intervals intervals were but it's just really apparent that It's...
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah, get rid of this shit, man. i I... I love the, I love Richmond. I put on a great race. This was obviously, it was a top tier next gen race. um but it's it's just i don't like Tire strategy being ruined. Bye.
Victory Lane vibes: Stage breaks. um I don't like the fact that my... The driver that I root for gets. fucked on a caution they can't make it back because stage breaks and there's no natural causes. natural cautions for for cause.
Victory Lane vibes: um So overall, it was just a whole bunch of ignorance to me. And it's not this it's not the fault. it's just a the car and the the rules that the the sanctioning body have ah have put in play Um, With that being said. uh,
Victory Lane vibes: the car needs to be thrown in the trash can park there and rebuilt um you got to do something more with the short trackage like the to art's point Getting rid of the bumper supports didn't do anything because the car still has too much mechanical grip. Goodyear is too afraid to do anything with the tire sizes or the tire part compounds because they don't want to be caught with their pants down and get embarrassed on a Cup Series primetime race.
Victory Lane vibes: um the engine builders and the oems don't want to give the car a thousand horsepower that it needs to break traction because the tires are so wide so it's a lot of collective ignorance that's going on with this car and it showed itself Saturday night.
Victory Lane vibes: So hopefully... they they take this this opportunity to. review it, and fix it. uh for next year's uh short track package because if they're putting a lot of stock into you know speed weeks and the super speedway package like yeah cool you raced that discipline six times a year.
Victory Lane vibes: What are you doing? for the the short tracks that... Basically double that on the schedule. You guys some got some work to do there. Uh... NASCAR. Peyton.
Victory Lane vibes: What do you got?
PEYTON: Quick question. I know you gentlemen. were their track side. I've been to races where being at the track has... made a dull experience more interesting just because you can take in and see the different lines and just the atmosphere of being at the track can benefit a lot.
PEYTON: Also been to races where... Even though I was enjoying myself, I feel like I would have had a better time actually watching it on TV just because I could have gotten a little bit better of context or a little bit better understanding to maybe storylines that I wasn't receiving.
PEYTON: For you all at the track, do you think... It was a little bit. with it being a strategy sort of heavy race. do you all think you missed out on anything by not being at home on the couch watching it tuned in to all the various resources or Did being at the track make it more interesting than you think us at home might have had?
Victory Lane vibes: um I guess I'll go first and then I'll let you speak your piece. Honestly, Richmond puts on a really great. um product for um Press. um They have the.
Victory Lane vibes: On track. cameras with the radio feed um in addition to having the the rated the the national tv broadcast on as well it goes back and forth between the two Um,
Victory Lane vibes: seeing it in person definitely helped me appreciate. Brett Kozlowski strategy. um Help me appreciate. Kyle Larson's strategy. So I got to see, like, how fast their cars were in real time. Even there was a moment I was telling Art, I was like, golly, look at Cody, where he flew the bat out of the hell.
Victory Lane vibes: He was like, yeah, he just pit it. I was like, man, that's crazy what new tires do. So, like, I i like seeing it in person. And then getting.
PEYTON: Yeah, because they wouldn't have shown that on TV.
Victory Lane vibes: Right. They're not going to show that on TV, but then getting the. whatever it is like the 55 second or whatever tv delay like hearing about whatever just happened that i already saw and put eyes on So seeing it in person definitely made it a great race to watch. I said, the only reason why, you know,
Victory Lane vibes: i didn't stay there for the entire thing because i don't have an allegiance to the 22 and i probably would have thrown tomatoes had i been in person to watch him take the sugar flag uh so i took my black ass home But as far as what what Richmond does for the press and then the viewpoints that they give, they do a phenomenal job.
Victory Lane vibes: So, yeah, that being in person helped. Appreciate it. ah as good as a race who it was for the next gen but um my race was soured um I'd say. More so because of Bubba not finishing well, but also because I'm a Joey Logano hater.
Victory Lane vibes: So I wasn't I wasn't watching that I'm beat traffic and i'm I'm watching the rest on TV
Art: Yeah, I'm I'm kind of the opposite.
Victory Lane vibes: Good. All right.
Art: Actually, my my answer to your question is that Lee Diffie is underpaid. I'm gonna put it to you that way. Lee Diffie. is not getting paid enough. um And then...
Victory Lane vibes: absolutely
Art: And anyone, you know, I saw some of y 'all having the nerve to to fix your lips to badmouth Lee Diffie and his accent. Let me find you in the streets, boy, because this is a Lee Diffie stan account over here. I'll whoop your ass.
Art: I'll whoop your ass for Lee Diffie for free.
PEYTON: No you won't.
Art: like he even got to ask me he got shooters in the streets i i sent him after him
PEYTON: Now you are.
PEYTON: You don't have enough reach to hit me.
Art: Not you. I'm talking about the people on the timeline.
Victory Lane vibes: yeah ah
Art: What you mean? You don't hate Lee Diffie. All right,
Madelyn: a
PEYTON: no he's he's i'm i'm warming up having listened to him for 15 years on various racing broadcasts. I'm now finally starting to warm up. He knows wheel.
Art: Yeah.
PEYTON: He knows us, Scotty. Okay. knowledge of the game has ever been in question. It's just. Man, it's a strong it's a strong voice. But I'm warming up.
PEYTON: I'm warming up. it only took nearly two decades, but we're we're getting there.
Art: Yeah. Well...
Madelyn: Now we gotta to listen to strong Southern acts. Dale Earnhardt can barely say Shane Van Gisbergen's name.
Art: Well, at least he tries.
PEYTON: But it's like.
Art: Jeff Burton don't even try. He did it once at Chicago. year one and never did it again he called him svg for the next three years
Victory Lane vibes: He he he he he.
Madelyn: So. So I'm sure that all the Kiwis over in New Zealand are listening to Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Burton and they're like, God, these people sound weird.
Art: Yeah, no, I don't i't i don't take no...
Madelyn: Talk about growing the sport and we can't listen to a man from New Zealand.
Art: ah Yeah, I don't take I don't take no Lee Diffie slander.
PEYTON: It's not.
Art: Not in this house. None is elsewhere. you You sleep outside. You you bad -mouthed me different here.
Madelyn: I actually don't know where Lee Diffie's from now that I said that.
Art: um but yeah no i think he's underpaid because when i went back and watched the highlights it felt a lot more exciting. it felt a lot more exciting i'm not gonna lie now i like jared's point is correct in that Yeah, obviously when you're at a race, you get the the full picture of what's happening and you can get a better sense of the strategy. and um You know, you just have ah a full zoomed out perspective, but you can watch one car for 10 laps straight.
PEYTON: Yes.
Art: You know, like you can't do. watching the national broadcast but I feel like between the commentary and i mean even just like This sounds so dumb. Even like the... These action shots of the cars going around makes it feel a lot more exciting than what I watched in person.
Art: Right.
PEYTON: Gotcha.
Art: Like when I watched in person, it felt like a carousel at times. Like we all just riding around.
PEYTON: A conveyor belt, yeah.
Art: Yeah. At the same speed. you know one guy might have pitted and he's moving around but he's two laps down he got to get it back right everybody else is just kind of read the same i watched the most highlights i'm like was Did I black out?
Art: Did I miss something? cause like
PEYTON: ah
Art: This poison. digging right now like you know that's that is legitimately how it feels but um So I think this would have been a better race, honestly, to watch on TV. like I feel like... You watching on TV, what you were...
Art: more entertained even if you fell asleep than me watching
PEYTON: Oh no.
Art: in air condition with... Sound dampening. I mean like... It's the ideal conditions to watch a race in person. Like it doesn't. you know like it really cannot get better than that and i was like Yeah, there's 150 left to go. We can leave, bro, whatever. I told Jarrett Strayer, I was like...
Art: I'm going to give them 25 laps at 150 to go. I said, if ain't nothing happening in these 25 laps, we can head out. Like I'm. I'm not enjoying myself and I'm not going to suffer. for Joey Logano of I'll Be Damned.
Victory Lane vibes: ah ah ah
Art: So... Yeah, no, I feel like it's, it's better. me and it i I do kind of get a little bit of a sense too that that was some of the inkling in the crowd because... after um
PEYTON: How's the bar?
Art: After hosts of our... when we started to live we saw a
Victory Lane vibes: It was a lot of people to believe in.
Art: Decent amount of people. Flood now. Like it was not ah a trickle of, you know. only people in Chili's hats leaving. It was like a solid. you know, I don't want to give a number, but I mean, it felt like a solid, like 15, 20 % of the crowd, honestly, for at least from that one exit, right? That's only one exit. You know, there's other spots on the track or whatever. But like.
Art: I was like, damn, y 'all right y'all got the same idea? we gotta to pick it up like we're not gonna beat the traffic at this rate if we don't hurry up uh so i don't know i feel like a lot of people might have have the same impression as us because like I said There's a hundred to go and and folks are streaming out like.
Art: You're not leaving that early if you're and if you're not ah Bored or you're not you feel like you're not getting your money's worth
Victory Lane vibes: Or if you're not a... Joe Logano fan, which clearly Richmond agrees that he is he is not the one that needs to run that race. Um, I feel like that's ah also. caused a mass exodus one thing i learned i also learned from this uh for this weekend now that we're talking about it SVG ran the truck race, finished fourth.
Victory Lane vibes: And he says he enjoys running the trucks more so than Xfinity. Damn it. o'reilly's um Because.
Art: Back to back weeks.
Victory Lane vibes: I know. I'll fuck it up. um Because it drives. closer to a cup car. And if you have one of your star drivers. Saying the trucks give some good practice for your cup car Throw it in the trash and rebuild it.
PEYTON: underpowered super gripped up and wo In a...
Victory Lane vibes: That's awful. Right. to No. like and Nothing against SVG.
PEYTON: brick in the air.
Victory Lane vibes: I'm glad he's getting seat time. I want him to get an overwind sooner rather than later. um but you can't have truck drivers comfortable with going immediately to cup.
Victory Lane vibes: Like, and that's that's not a reason why i while I'm, like, hating on Carson Josevar.
PEYTON: for Hosipar.
Victory Lane vibes: But it's crazy that this man had a truck ride and moved to Cup. like immediately took up and had success and found success You don't have a problem with that? like if if you're If these are supposed to be the 36 greatest drivers ever to to drive this discipline that is stock cars, you got to make it harder to drive.
Victory Lane vibes: for lane rigs to come up here and start cracking ass in two years because the trucks drive like the cars man Fuck up my FaceTime.
Art: you know one last thing and and then we can move on i'll tell you this For all the bad mouthing I just did about the cup race... The truck race was worse.
Victory Lane vibes: the
Art: Golly boy, that Chuck Grace.
Victory Lane vibes: ah
PEYTON: All right.
Art: Blah.
Victory Lane vibes: P .U.
Art: I ain't gonna...
PEYTON: Skunk.
Victory Lane vibes: Stinky
Art: I ain't gonna lie to you.
Victory Lane vibes: Hmm.
Art: I'll be real with you. If I wasn't five hours away from home... i might have just left right after that i'll be real i might have just headed on out because i was like yo i had enough from this organization i'm i'm from this sanction and by that race was an asshole.
Victory Lane vibes: ah ah
Victory Lane vibes: Boy, oh boy. Poor little boy.
Art: And listen. it Caden Honeycutt, hey, salute to you, my guy. like You whooped some ass out there, but good lord, that's bad to watch on TV.
Victory Lane vibes: and
Art: That was, in person rather, that was.
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah, that was an ass -whipping breath.
Art: Brutal That was brutal.
Victory Lane vibes: That was... Belt to ass.
Art: And last... and last thing before we move on i just want to point out that when it comes to the xfinity o'reilly account jared now has as many instances as everyone else combined
PEYTON: him
Art: God dang, bruh.
Victory Lane vibes: I talk the most.
Art: if That's not true. Um, yeah. You about to laugh the whole field, big dog. Keep it up.
Victory Lane vibes: no
Art: Good grief.
Victory Lane vibes: Moving on to more struggling storylines. There's two races left in the regular season. Austin Sendrick and SVG are plus 57 and plus 50, respectively, over the cut line um of Ryan Priest and Ross Chastain.
Victory Lane vibes: Do you see any changes? in the playoff picture. Madeline.
Madelyn: Not. Particularly. i I haven't thought much about the cut line, if I'm being honest. I've already given up on this championship.
Victory Lane vibes: It's fair. it's fair
Madelyn: um happily taking the Denny Hamlin Championship. and moving into the future, thinking about Conner's Villages. 2028 career because he's not in the playoffs next year either.
Madelyn: Um. i don't I don't think we're going to get to see any crazy changes unless Ryan Priest or Rosh Chastain, like...
Madelyn: I don't know decide to Learn how to drive a race car. in the next two weeks
Madelyn: No offense to Ryan Preece or Raj Chastain. They know how to drive race cars.
Art: Hey. you
Victory Lane vibes: All offense.
Art: Hey, y 'all are shit at your life's profession, but no offense, man.
Victory Lane vibes: All offense to them.
Art: That's crazy. to to Stand on business now.
Victory Lane vibes: yeah
Madelyn: i'm sure I'm sure it has way more to do with the race car itself than them.
Art: Stand on business now. Don't backpedal. This ain't the NFL. You are not at the combine. Don't backpedal. Stay on. What you say?
Madelyn: Not that Austin Sindrick's been doing great at driving a race car this year.
PEYTON: o
Art: Hey, listen, he he got just enough.
PEYTON: ah
Madelyn: growing his hair out.
Art: Good luck.
Madelyn: He's not bald anymore.
PEYTON: Yeah, but it still looks like he's spending all of like $12 at Supercuts for his haircut.
Art: anyway
PEYTON: like He refuses to go.
Madelyn: His mom used to cut it. When he had the bald head, his mom would shave his head.
Art: but You know, that's the most believable thing I've ever heard you say
PEYTON: That's.
PEYTON: Yeah.
Art: You could ah you could you could tell me your own last name and it'd be less believable than than that fact i 100 believe that the bowls that were used in the syndra cows go they The stories they could tell, I can imagine.
Victory Lane vibes: Zane. That's crazy.
Art: I'll go. I'll go next. um I will not insult any drivers and tell them they're terrible at their life's profession, but I don't think... I don't think anything's going to happen. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised because I really didn't expect this kind of.
Art: Settlement? between the cut line like There's always some. dudes especially bubba unfortunately they end up being like plus 10 plus eight Going to Daytona, you know, like.
Art: Struggling and living and living that life and I mean plus 50 is a lot And... The fact of the matter is is that All those people that are not mathematically eliminated.
Art: they They not popping up. Two wins in a row, right? I mean, I think priests are... or or Chastain or even maybe Keselowski could, you know, get a Hail Mary Daytona win just because it's Daytona and, you know, anything could happen at that place. Like.
Art: I think that's in their own possibilities, but the idea of like one of them, like Eric Jones is not winning two races in a row to make the playoffs. Like that's, that's not. a world we live in. like There's a lot of evil in the world that we live in, but that's not one that we have to face. like That's not going to happen.
Art: Um, So, yeah, and I don't think anything's going to happen. Like I said, I'm just kind of surprised at the... the gap um child of syndra getting a third place like that really kind of Saved his bacon because he was kind of shit though.
Madelyn: It's the hair.
Art: You know what?
PEYTON: The powers in his hair.
Art: is He's got one. That's the episode title. Um... He's he's got one his best finish of the season came with the hair so I can't say shit So.
Art: Yeah, no change. This is R16.
Victory Lane vibes: Pain.
Victory Lane vibes: Is it a drama or no?
PEYTON: I don't.
Art: Give us a hot take. Say something controversial. We need it for the social clips.
PEYTON: In the... In the intelligent... reasoned part of my mind that understands how numbers and That. you are what your average says you are Everything should hold.
PEYTON: pad. In the world where I don't know. One of the 2311 cars seems to vomit all over its shoes every opportunity.
Victory Lane vibes: Yes.
PEYTON: Could there be an epic collapse? You never know.
Victory Lane vibes: Yes.
PEYTON: I believe he's But the 23 car is 70 points ahead of Ryan priest. I don't know if that's officially what the cut line would be. But maximum points you can achieve in a NASCAR race weekend is 76 points. That's winning all the stages.
PEYTON: and getting the fastest lap point. So... Ideally, he goes into Daytona. with a little bit of cushion there where it's just a Finish. 25th or better. god Actually, that would still terrify me. Get get a stage point.
PEYTON: and finish 30 for better. will be a yeah an ideal scenario for that But otherwise, like everyone else has said. Ryan Priest just hasn't shown enough consistency. Ross Chastain, they seem to have found a little bit of form here in the past. month or so.
PEYTON: but still not quite enough for I really feel strongly. And I think Brad Kozlowski needs a ton of help. I think. Eric Jones lost his chance when he decided to race around the 45 car when the 45 car was having its streak of god -awfulness and getting destroyed at Iowa.
PEYTON: So. Yeah, i think I think we've got the final layout. I think Shane's going to be able to do enough. I mean, New Hampshire may be tough for Shane. but it's not necessarily a track where you've got a whole lot of feeling of yaw in the car, which apparently road course drivers, that's the toughest thing for them to pick up is. feeling the car sliding as you go through.
PEYTON: you know, at 170 miles per hour. It's just a weird feeling for them. So I think imagine New Hampshire probably wouldn't be a terrible place for him to have a solid. 15th place run.
PEYTON: So yeah, I think everything holds pat. And like everyone said, ah people were expecting a lot of sort of... fire and smoke from this cutoff line, truthfully we only need to be allowing 12 drivers in.
PEYTON: Then we would have some excitement. Actually shoot. Make it 10 drivers. Could you imagine?
Art: oh
PEYTON: William Byron, Carson House of R, Chris Buescher, Joey Logano having to scrap it out. For that. Last chase spot. I mean, now you got some heavy hitters out there. like I don't even care at this point if Bubba Wallace wouldn't be included. in like You want to talk about a show.
PEYTON: That's a dog fight right there. so But. Anywho. No changes.
Victory Lane vibes: And fuck that. the I... Something's going to happen. next week between next week and Daytona. And there's going to be moving on the cut line. Because when I watched the RFK cars qualify top 10.
Victory Lane vibes: On, uh... What was that, Friday? Were we there for qualifying? I was scared. I was fearful. I was petrified. I was like, oh no. I was going to lose it. he's He's gonna be out of here.
Victory Lane vibes: um and then rfk does what rfk does so personally i'm on the side of chaos and I told you so. That's what you raggedy bleep bleeps get for not taking stage points at road courses. I have that tweet.
Victory Lane vibes: in my drafts and I'm ready to send it. And I want it to be a lesson personally. Um, But... If I'm not being chaotic. and i'm just looking at the facts i don't think there's going to be any movement or any changes which sucks um because it's one thing i did enjoy about the last uh playoff system the whole winning your end thing all the controversy that came with it Um,
Victory Lane vibes: But when you're doing it off. Peace. performance and consistency. I mean, SVG's one. twice this year, three times this year. austin cedric drives a penske car so there's no way he should fall out of the top 16 just putting on his helmet and the race suit for the people he drives for so Um,
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah, sorry, whatever, man You drive a tractor. And your owner must pay for his mistakes again. by not getting any uh Top 16 money. at the award ceremony.
Victory Lane vibes: Talk about another punch in the gut. You missing money. You lost your driver, man. Just burn the building down and get your insurance collection. Just call it a day.
Art: Down bad man down.
Victory Lane vibes: That's all you gotta do.
Art: but That's what happens when you don't get mr. Worldwide
Victory Lane vibes: I'm telling you, man, once Pitbull left, the demise of track house started.
Art: You literally can track that moment.
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah.
Art: After that the wheels fell off I miss him.
Victory Lane vibes: The moment in time. When Pitbull's money left... The performance fell.
Art: this
Victory Lane vibes: I'm telling you this is just on dodge bro Ram it. Um...
Art: Ayo. Come on man.
Victory Lane vibes: that you're reaching. Um, Who was more underwhelming? Kyle Larson jumping out and running off to play in the dirt immediately following the cup race. Or Carson Hostavar.
Victory Lane vibes: It's a money shift.
Victory Lane vibes: Hey, look, Brian can hold y 'all good first. That castle, that coast of our ship was funny as fuck. Cause like seeing it in real time. i'm like oh it's hosavar he's up against the wall and i was like what did he do And then...
Victory Lane vibes: Looking up at the TV in front of me watching the USA broadcast. He money shifted it And they showed the replay like six times. And I was like. I don't know how you blowout sequential transmission but You got it, bruh.
Art: How'd that work, man? The the way...
Victory Lane vibes: Of all the people to do it, it would be Carson Hosea that did it. And Carson Hosovar, you. Wow brother, that's a That's crazy.
Art: That's tough buddy.
Victory Lane vibes: Crazy work. That's crazy work.
Victory Lane vibes: ah Madeline, who's your pick? is it Larson going to play in the dirt or host of our.
Madelyn: But.
Victory Lane vibes: should Wait.
Madelyn: Carson thing.
Victory Lane vibes: I should add... They they held the race for Kyle Larson to. to come race like i guess it was rain delayed
PEYTON: So... Yeah, it was rain delayed, yeah.
Victory Lane vibes: And. And he.
Madelyn: It was rain delayed.
Victory Lane vibes: ah He had time to. cliff daniels came on the radio he was like hey man we're uh we're trying to make a way for you to get there
Madelyn: Hop on a plane.
Art: Scurry Scurry across the country.
Victory Lane vibes: just come on out of the car and unhook your stuff and uh we got a plane waiting for you We're kind of...
PEYTON: Apparently it's a quick flight to Iowa from
Victory Lane vibes: uppity shit
Art: He ran off pit road Did you see the video?
Madelyn: Ran.
Art: He literally ran off pit road.
Art: Yeah, man
Victory Lane vibes: Corey Day, you might have your chance, big dog. I don't know.
Art: We can only pray.
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah, he got 200 grand for winning that race too, so maybe. You might be tired of being broke because you're not winning cup races. That man got paid Saturday night. Um, Matt allowed me to cut you off. I apologize.
Madelyn: You're good. car The Carson -Hostvar thing is actually like the one part of the race. i was awake to watch. And. me and my friends were all texting being like What what the hell happened to Carson Ho -Savar? He's just sitting there.
Madelyn: And then... He just... I'll stop. And I had no strong feelings about this until I was scrolling on Twitter and started seeing men saying that it was because he has a girlfriend now.
Madelyn: is why he's been so shit in the last couple races and that she's distracting him.
Art: What? to
Madelyn: And I've got to say.
Art: What?
Madelyn: we We gotta quit that. That poor girl can't be to blame. the spire She's building the Spire Motorsports cars.
Victory Lane vibes: They got bigger problems on their hands outside of cars as opposed to large money shifting.
Madelyn: So that's one.
Art: What's the...
PEYTON: maybe Maybe she was his car chief.
Victory Lane vibes: Boy, I tell you that.
PEYTON: Like maybe.
Art: What?
PEYTON: Maybe maybe he's dating his car chief and like...
Art: oops
PEYTON: but with their with their, you know... courtship. Maybe they're taking their eyes off of things.
Art: Come on, baby.
PEYTON: That's the only that's the only circumstance that I could imagine where M finding love.
Art: Come on, man. What's the...
PEYTON: would be... ah would be a problem.
Art: Fucking take a love.
PEYTON: for
Madelyn: Because if it's the girlfriend, then what was it about the 99 races he was in that he didn't win before he won his first ever race?
Art: Yeah.
Victory Lane vibes: That's crazy
Art: What's the meme? you need that You just need to reply with that meme. what's it It goes... But that's what how losers think. That's what you need to just say.
Madelyn: Um. But Kyle Larson is always going to be the one who annoys me more. So I'm always going to pick Kyle Larson. i I don't know when that man sees his wife. I don't know when that man sees his children. I don't know when that man sleeps.
Madelyn: He's always out there playing in the dirt. And if that's what brings him joy. then more power to him. Do I think it's a little embarrassing? for a not even embarrassing that's not the right word do i think it's a little Odd.
Madelyn: That he doesn't seem just content. driving his NASCAR cup. Car. It one of the best teams. at the national level and he's always out.
Madelyn: sitting in his car plotting how he's going to get to his next race. It's the same thing with the IndyCar. Indy 500 stuff like There's just a point where it's like If you're sitting in that car and you're like, okay, if I... Finish.
Madelyn: If I don't finish the race right now, then I could hop on a plane and make it to Iowa by the time... The race is at Knoxville National, wherever he was going. I could make it like I you can't be paying attention. You can't be focusing solely on one or the other. And I don't think that's me. That's not me trashing dirt racing. If dirt racing whats is what he wants to do, then focus on dirt racing.
Madelyn: But I don't think it's fair to be sitting in one of the best. cars in NASCAR and just constantly thinking about what you're going to be doing on your days off.
Victory Lane vibes: true
Madelyn: but Maybe I'm too passionate about this Kyle Larson dirt racing thing.
Art: too woke
Madelyn: Too woke.
Art: To vote for the Dirk community.
Madelyn: they're not i i just said i think it's disrespectful to the dirt community because he's just coming over there for funsies these people are doing this for like This is their career and he's coming over there and beating these people that this is like what they do.
Victory Lane vibes: The brother won $200 ,000.
Madelyn: It...
Madelyn: I bet you one of those other...
Victory Lane vibes: for an hour's work of work.
Madelyn: I mean, I know it wasn't at Casey Kane who came in second, so maybe Casey Kane doesn't need $200 ,000 either.
Victory Lane vibes: Yes.
PEYTON: Still looks great, by the way.
Madelyn: But...
PEYTON: He's taking great care of himself.
Madelyn: He looks fantastic.
Victory Lane vibes: He's a vampire.
PEYTON: Yeah.
Madelyn: Um... He posts on Instagram like a dad, like he just posts photo dumps with no captions. It's fantastic. Big.
Art: Real shit.
Madelyn: Casey Cain fan. Um. He obviously doesn't need that $200 ,000, but surely somebody else racing in that race probably needs that $200 ,000 more than Kyle Larson does.
Victory Lane vibes: It's crazy. The last time Red Bull was a NASCAR. The driver left to join Hendrick Motorsports. and Light Instruct twice.
Art: o
Victory Lane vibes: Maybe Red Bull is to blame.
Madelyn: Maybe Red Bull's the problem.
Victory Lane vibes: um Peyton, our resident host of Our Lover.
PEYTON: Mm -hmm.
Victory Lane vibes: What's more underwhelming? Kyle Larson sprinting to dirt. or your boy going ka -chow.
PEYTON: So as someone who... I've driven stick shift for the last... 20 years. and i occasionally will browse subreddits and and see from newer drivers who would get a hot car it's a stick shift and occasionally see oh my god i money shifted ls i'm always sort of wondering What's the rush? Like, how how are you all like doing this? And I can understand with an H pattern.
PEYTON: You think you're going you know for fifth gear and you actually are going into third And you spin it up to, you know, 7 billion RPMs. in the and the valves just pop out. the Out the hood.
PEYTON: I can understand with an H pattern, but in a sequential, it just seems a little bit. stranger to do, but There's.
Victory Lane vibes: yeah
Art: Sluggish Saturday.
Victory Lane vibes: Now for... Sluggish Saturday.
Art: Don't know about all that. Um... So this is interesting. These are two drivers that I do not like. uh and i i really struggled when i wrote this question trying to think about who i dislike more
Victory Lane vibes: Imagine that.
Art: And... On the one hand, the money shifting is... Kind of hilarious. just because of the nature of the sequential shifter. at fact check has we see anyone else do that in the gen 7 just out of curiosity i can't
Victory Lane vibes: Darryl Boba Wallace Jr.
Madelyn: yeah
Art: Okay, you both talk and I can't i can't hear you.
Victory Lane vibes: Bubba did it at COTA.
Art: Okay.
Art: in the In the Gen 7?
Victory Lane vibes: Yeah. He was driving the, that was the.
Art: Or in... Or in the then Xfinity car. I think that's it.
Victory Lane vibes: No, he didn't.
Art: All right, well.
Victory Lane vibes: He went kablowy. That was the last year they were on the... ah the f1 circuit before they switch to the dumb one they run now
Art: oh Well. ah um I choose to blindly believe you both. Okay. Well, in that case, I will still pick. Mr. Greatest driver in the world
Victory Lane vibes: ah
Art: You know, I just... I just, can you imagine Patrick Mahomes being like, yeah, I'm gonna go back to Texas Tech and beat up on some college students, man. I'm gonna go back to my high school and and beat up some. some 18 year olds in football like
Victory Lane vibes: That's not nice.
Art: I'm gonna just throw some dots on some 17 year old. That's the equivalent of what we're watching here. And I just. I just don't give. why it's impressive man i mean i gotta sit up here i gotta see all 32 at kyle larson's teeth talking about i beat the plumbers the mailman and a 46 year old casey kane
Art: No, I'm not here for it. I don't care for it. And I just. I think to Madeline's point, like, I just don't understand how the dirt community just wraps their arms around. Like, are y 'all that desperate for validation that you just...
Art: and We'll take anybody. Anybody that'll come race for us, even though he makes us look like we don't know what the hell we're doing. we'll We'll take you man because I tell you yeah if I was a dirt racer I race you along around in this this bum comes in here and takes all my money cuz he's got the best car I wouldn't take too kindly to it personally. I wouldn't take that level of disrespect.
Art: But I mean maybe maybe I'm just built different than the dirt series drivers of whatever
Victory Lane vibes: Lord have mercy.
Art: whatever the hell series is called i don't know what the series is called and it's It's just so funny because people will come up here and talk about, I guess, this great feat. I'm like, well, damn, if they were that great, they'd be in NASCAR, wouldn't they? But they're not. so I just...
Art: Oh, man. like just retire from the cup series please like you clearly don't want to be here you don't want to be here and i don't want you here either so like let's just both be happy By you leaving. My Sundays.
Art: That's what I want. That's what I want. I just Like I said, man, can I mean, just. Imagine Derrick Henry. going back to to run over some high school students in a tackling drill.
Art: Would you look at him and say you're you're impressed by that man's actions? No. You'd have some shame. Have some decency. Get a win in the series that pays you.
Madelyn: i
Victory Lane vibes: Good. That's great.
Madelyn: That's my thing. It's because he hasn't won. In NASCAR? In how long? And he's still.
Victory Lane vibes: What's the count, Art?
Art: i'm about to pull it up right keep talking i'm gonna pull it up right the fuck now go ahead keep talking
Victory Lane vibes: 467 days.
Madelyn: Because... I get it. I get like. as i'm I'm a hypocrite. If like Shane Van Gisbergen walked up and was like, I'm going to go run the fucking Indy 500 next year. Do you know what I would be like? I would be like.
Madelyn: Hell yeah. Go run the Indy 500. I hope they get a helicopter. In the middle of... the brick yard. to get you there. So maybe I'm the problem. But like Shane Van Gisbergen wins races. Kyle Larson is only. winning. the dirt races he drove.
Art: 463 days.
Victory Lane vibes: Damn it was close.
Madelyn: A year. Over a year.
Art: You bum. Get out my face. I don't give a damn. You still a bum. You a bum and the playoff series you won it with is a bum series. That's why they ain't here either.
Madelyn: I don't know. I just... if If dirt racing is what you want to do, go dirt race. that's like If that's... what you're passion in life is. Go dirt race. Why are we racing Cup?
Madelyn: When we know Hendrick Motorsports prioritizes his car.
Art: Mm hmm. Why you gotta be our problem? Be their problem.
Madelyn: Maybe the Alex Bowman fans are right. Maybe. Maybe Hendrick Motorsports is corrupt and is the problem. I don't know Bye.
Art: what was What was the tweet? Like, let's... let's What was the tweet you sent me about ah Alex Bowman?
Madelyn: Oh,
Art: I got a five. There was some tweet you sent about Alex Bowman. It was like... Let's just enjoy the time we have left with him. That's the opposite of how I feel towards Kyle Larson. I am not enjoying any time I have left with him. i'm like just Just rip the band -aid off, dude, so I can get Raj in that car and we can all be happy.
Art: that's what ah that's what That's what the world needs. That's the course correction and we need. as a society.
Madelyn: long story short i just think i'm a hypocrite
Art: That's okay At least. I'm not but that's y 'all Y 'all be easy, though.
Victory Lane vibes: That's insane. Uh... I don't know and if I dare bring this up, but ah light's too bright. Oh.

Art: In hindsight, that would have been the right decision honestly.
Victory Lane vibes: Honestly and truthfully. It should have been the right thing to do.

Art: The only reason he qualified like seventh was because right as the last five went out. a motherfucking cloud came out covered the whole track
Victory Lane vibes: a
Art: Like. ordained from on high. And literally everyone else, the last five who came out qualified top five. So like, whatever. Okay. I'm like, Hey, the car is still pretty damn fast. Like you. you know whatever I was wrong.
Victory Lane vibes: Hehehehe.
Art: Made a fool out of me.
Victory Lane vibes: Hehehe.
Art: And, you know, the frustrating thing is just that, like... This is now becoming a thing where it's like. Hey, the cars aren't getting better as the race goes on.
Art: We're just constantly getting worse. And I have to read Sarah's tweets and with the Bubba commentary on the radio talking about the car still sucks. I'm like yo brother. They just paid you a lot of money not to do it as well If we were gonna do all this we could have kept booty So I just.
Art: Tighten up. it's like please and then i then i see the article this morning and said that Mike had to had a slide through airspeed last week and made a call. And then you go out there and embarrass us like that. You embarrassing us in front of the money, man. Like that's the big money.
