And honestly, I just, I'm so thankful for meeting you and being able to have that experience.

Teresa Pelizzari's Journey through Hypnosis

00:01:16
Speaker
Hello, everybody. I'm Robbie Spear-Miller, your host for the Hypnosis Show podcast. And today, I'm really looking forward to exploring the topic of how you can use hypnosis to get into a really great zone for performance. We have Teresa Pelizzari here today with us. She is a financial advisor with sovereign wealth management. And she coaches people in helping them with their finances and insurance and investment strategies so that they can be really relaxed about their money situation.
00:01:46
Speaker
Teresa is a client here at Hypnosis Training Canada. And so she had a lot of great changes happen with the use of hypnosis for her business and her personal life. So she's going to share with us how that worked for her. Welcome, Teresa. Thanks, Robbie. It's great to be here. Yeah, it's great to have you. So start by telling us the backstory of what caused all the stress in your life in the first place. What was the reason you were seeking out help?
00:02:15
Speaker
Well, actually when I was seeking out help, I don't think I really identified at that time what was causing my stress, but through working with you, it became clear. And it was, you know, in my younger years, let's just say 10 to 20 years old, I felt like everything that mattered to me was about making money.
00:02:40
Speaker
And so I did a good job of making the money, but I didn't really know why financial independence was so important to me. And through going through the process, I realized that it was deeply rooted in me in the sense that I overheard conversations with my parents quite often when I was younger about money and worried about money and layoffs from work, that sort of thing.
00:03:10
Speaker
that just felt like it was causing so much stress to them. And so at a young age, I learned I do not like stress. So for me, it was, okay, I'll work as hard as I can. I'll be as driven and motivated as I can to make sure that I don't ever need to be stressed. And so what I did was I really made planning a key. It was almost like,
00:03:38
Speaker
and anchor a security blanket for me to be able to figure out what I wanted to do and how to get there in the most direct line I possibly could, because that would relieve stress, of course. And for decades, I worked and worked and worked, and I still had that behind the scenes stress that, okay, I can make the money,
00:04:07
Speaker
What if it gets taken away from me? So I never really busted through that sort of paradigm. But you were in a lot of fear and there was no amount that was enough. You felt like you had to keep going. And because you were trying to guard so heavily against going through what your parents went through.
00:04:29
Speaker
100%, and it was, you know, honestly, it was like chasing the horizon. Have you ever tried to do it? It keeps moving, right? So it didn't matter what I did, it just kept moving. It was like, okay, as you get a little older, it's a little tiring. And I really, really wished I knew back in my 30s what I know now.
00:04:56
Speaker
Yeah, I bet your life would have been a lot more relaxing if you had. Absolutely. Yeah, so it's so interesting how this approach you had to money or this attitude or this need to make sure you had enough was established at a really young age.

The Roots of Subconscious Beliefs

00:05:14
Speaker
the younger we are the more kind of open we are to hypnosis and so you had this this decision you made and subconsciously your mind said well to take care of me i need to make sure i have enough money and you kept doing it and doing it and and it never ended because
00:05:33
Speaker
your subconscious will keep doing the same thing for the same reason we don't forget how to swim in the middle of the lake, right? It's seeing, oh, there's survival value to making lots of money. And so that's why you kept doing it and you didn't know how to stop, right? Even though rationally you could say, oh, well, it's good enough now. You didn't know how to stop that, you know, that that fear that was running. Absolutely. And even it didn't
00:05:59
Speaker
Yeah, it wouldn't have mattered because then even if it was enough, I'd be worried that it'll be taken away from me.
00:06:08
Speaker
Yeah, so here, we really look at money as a form of stored choice, where if you have money, you have more choices. If you don't, your choices are limited. But life isn't really about money in and of itself. And what you were really looking for was to have that sense of security or that freedom of being able to have choices when you wanted them that you saw your parents suffer not having. 100%.
00:06:35
Speaker
Yeah, but you kind of lost sight of that. You thought it was just about the money itself. Absolutely. Honestly, I didn't realize any of it rooted back to childhood until I started going through the process with you and digging deeper into my past and what drives me, what motivates me, and what is it that I'm trying to accomplish? And honestly, it was like being on a hamster wheel to some degree.
00:07:06
Speaker
Yeah. And you're also a very thorough person. You're very conscientious and you really genuinely want to help people. And so that work ethic that went hand in hand with making the money really pushed you and pushed you. And you just didn't know where the right zone was because in the end, you can't take it with you, right? And there's more to life. And so talk about how you started to realize it was impacting you negatively.
00:07:36
Speaker
Um, I think the main, uh, identifier was my nervous system and how something could trigger me that was on my mind. And within seconds I could feel it in my shoulders and feel the weight and the pressure on me. And that nervous system honestly could fire up for a week at a time.
00:08:05
Speaker
And that's not healthy, not a nice feeling at all. Massages can help, but those are just a band-aid if you can't go within yourself to understand it. And now, honestly, I still have that feeling sometimes, but I recognize it right away, and I can probably get rid of it in five to 10 minutes.
00:08:33
Speaker
and just bring myself back down to the reality of it. You have some perspective and you have skills to help yourself. So it's not like a week, it's five or 10 minutes. Right. And I think still I use my tools in my process from the past, which were, I guess, hard tools versus the mindset of the soft tools. So I always had the hard tools and I wondered how I became such a planner.
00:09:02
Speaker
And it is because I want things logically done. I want to get there in the most straight, the right path. I don't want a false start. And I was willing to, you know, like not kill myself, but put myself through that stress because that's all I knew. And now kind of having those hard tools that still don't go away. But now when I go to do them, it's like Nike. It's just do it because I already know those tools like the back of my hand.
00:09:31
Speaker
And if I apply the other side of the mindset to it, I can literally go through a process of three different steps or whatever steps it is in like seven minutes without any and then just set it aside like nothing.
00:09:48
Speaker
Yeah, it's wonderful. Yeah, it is wonderful. And isn't it interesting how before this you weren't even aware of what was going on behind the scenes? And sometimes we don't even need to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes, right? We don't need to know the whole story, but just to acknowledge, oh, this is coming from a place of fear, right? And that you're grabbing on out of fear and then being able to start to have a new way to look at it and a new way to interact with it can make all the difference.
00:10:17
Speaker
much gentler than saying, well, stop feeling so stressed. It's never worked to say, stop being so stressed out, right? Why don't you just relax? But that doesn't work, whether you say it to yourself or to somebody else. It makes things worse. It absolutely makes things worse. And for me now, it's understanding I'm rewired. So, you know, you can have a beautiful

Empowerment through Self-Hypnosis

00:10:42
Speaker
outside
00:10:44
Speaker
which could be my planning process, but this is the wiring inside that affects me. So now I'm rewired.
00:10:54
Speaker
So talk about as you learned how to do this and you learned how to let go of enough of that old intensity to be in, you know, in what we call the zone, like when athletes are performing and they bring just the right amount of intensity to what they're doing and the world kind of slows down, right? And they're taking everything from the point of view of their senses. That's something that you learned how to do with hypnosis. So talk about how getting into that zone made a difference for your business.
00:11:25
Speaker
It took my flow and added ease to it. And because of that, well, in the past, if I thought this task is going to take me an hour, and then I had three or four tasks in my morning, let's just say, and in my mind were going to take me four hours to do, the rewirement sort of rewiring that happened took me, I would get it done in
00:11:54
Speaker
half the time. So you're way more efficient, more focused. You can see the forest from the trees and how perspective. Yeah, it's almost believing in the flow of it all. And again, it still happens where, you know, you get that little glitch and you're like, okay, I guess it could be a glitch like your car starts chugging
00:12:23
Speaker
When you go to start it and it's like, Oh, I probably need a new battery. I needed a new battery. I didn't realize it. Right. So when that glitches now, I immediately pause. It's the first day I just pausing. Oh, you're not going down that path. It's way too hard. Why would you want to do that?
00:12:46
Speaker
And this is really important for people to know about because with hypnosis, all hypnosis ultimately is self-hypnosis. So when you come for a hypnosis program or you do hypnosis training, you're learning how to use hypnosis to help yourself, which is why you learned Teresa. And which means that mostly for you, you're in this good zone and then once in a while you have a glitch and you know how to get out of it.
00:13:13
Speaker
And the fact that you know how to do it for yourself helps make that easy. You have that confidence. Honestly, I have so much confidence of being able like I don't need Robbie on speed dial. And I thought I'm off on my own now. I probably need Robbie on speed. I don't. I don't. And I've had a beautiful situation just last week where
00:13:41
Speaker
I took my son and daughter through a process of buying a house, which is a big deal, and just taking 100% of the emotion out, going through what we had to, literally, like I said, in seven to eight minutes, setting it aside, wake up the next day. And it was just, so I used a combination of the soft and the hard tools
00:14:10
Speaker
but it just, it's so rewarding. And even more so that I can role model it to my, you know, they're 20 and 21, but they're still my kids. I can role model it to them and just feel so empowered to be able to share that mindset with them because that's all they know. Yeah, you're showing them what's possible that they could- Absolutely. And with ease, with ease.
00:14:40
Speaker
no emotion, just ease. So nice. Yeah, great. Hyseless, actually. Now I can share it with my clients. And so if I have clients that are, you know, they're anxious, people when they generally when they go from working all their life, regular paycheck coming in, to no more money coming in, and they have to feel comfortable and calm and believe that
00:15:10
Speaker
their transformation into retirement will be fine. I have to help them with that. So I can sit back and listen to what they're saying. And I can use a question that you quite commonly use is, well, what if it's like this? And get them to just bring their, you know, maybe a little bit of anxiety or stress or that fear
00:15:40
Speaker
into perspective. So you're teaching them how to open up choice because they were used to only looking at it or feeling about it one way. And you're saying, what would happen if it was like this? And you're starting to help them imagine this new possibility, which they might never have occurred to them before to do it that way. 100%. And it is what makes clients comfortable,
00:16:06
Speaker
confident, they build trust, and then they open up. I feel like sleep is better. If there's something on my mind, I can park it and know, I'll just deal with it tomorrow. And I take it as, oh, it's just a reminder to deal with it, sort of thing. As far as relationships go, honestly, they flow with ease.
00:16:36
Speaker
And if I come across someone that they don't want things to flow with ease, I just stay in my own lane. And that could be road rage. People have road rage. And it's like, hey, no problem. I'll let you in. Go ahead. But I'm staying out of your world.
00:16:59
Speaker
And I've had people say to me that are like, wow, you know, so-so was with us, they'd be like, mouthing them off and hand signals and everything else. And I go, well, what would that do to your mood? What would that do to the nice, peaceful day you were just having? You're going to let some stranger affect you? No, I'll just stay in my own lane. You know, someone wants to butt in front of me at the grocery store? No problem, go right ahead. Right? It just,
00:17:29
Speaker
And it goes back to flow with ease. It doesn't matter. And it's, it saves so much time. Yeah. It's a huge energy leak. If you let somebody pull you into their negativity and 100% gets you off your path or your outcome. Yeah.

Choosing Mood and Focus with Hypnosis

00:17:49
Speaker
And chances are they're a stranger. It's like, don't give them that kind of control. And it just like, it could be like, it happens so fast for me.
00:18:00
Speaker
It's like a light switch. It's like, nope, go ahead. And I'm not going to complain about it for the next five minutes. It's just done. There you go. Right. Because if you complain about it, then you are getting sucked in. Exactly. That would just be like a piece of dust floating through the air, and you just flip it away and move on. Yeah. Yeah, and just stay in my own lane. And when I say that, it's not literally driving, but it's
00:18:30
Speaker
my own lane in my head. You're staying focused on your hope comes.
00:18:35
Speaker
100%. Yeah. And this, this story you're telling us, these examples are great because in a nutshell, when people come to learn hypnosis, really for anything, a really foundational part is them realizing, Hey, I choose my mood. I choose what I focus on or my state of mind and body. And if we're allowing the world around us to, to influence us a lot, then we're really vulnerable to, you know, who knows?
00:19:05
Speaker
Right, especially the world is in a very interesting place. So this gives you the locus of control and choice. Yeah, it absolutely does. It keeps the control, keeps me as the driver of my life, rather than letting other things happen around me. I mean, even when COVID, when we first started hearing about COVID, I just went, you know what, no fighter jets over my head.
00:19:35
Speaker
I'm good. We're not quite sure what's going on right now in the early days, but you know, we'll just lay low and keep the TV off.
00:19:44
Speaker
Right? Yeah. And you really learned how to just trust in the future. You take action when you need to and kind of trusting that, yeah, somehow this will work out. You don't need to know the details, but it can allow itself to unfold. And that's totally OK. And a lot of people get tripped up by that because they want to know the end of the story or they want to control what's going to happen. So you're really putting your focus on what you can do.
00:20:11
Speaker
And then you're letting go of the rest of it, which is it's like that sweet spot. It's lovely. It's a nice place to live. And you're breathing. My breathing is so much better, right? Because when you're nice and relaxed, you can breathe from the pit of your stomach. You're not all tense all the time. So, yeah, it absolutely and honestly, it allows you to be more creative.
00:20:39
Speaker
because you don't have all that tension. My goal is to live my best life. And when I reached out to you, Robbie, that was the only thing I had in mind. I didn't know exactly what that meant though. Like what would need to change for me to live my best life? And it's the confidence that I've gained, it's the peace and harmony
00:21:09
Speaker
the mindset, the simplicity are all pieces of the puzzle that were maybe out there, but they were really scattered because I was forcing it. And honestly, I'm so thankful for meeting you and being able to have that experience. And I would recommend anyone that is carrying fear or
00:21:39
Speaker
anxiety, uneasy, not sleeping to invest in yourself. Because if you do, then you you can create so much more that you had no idea you have the power to do because you're not beaten down.
00:21:59
Speaker
And what you're describing there is that at the time you knew something was off, but you didn't really know what you needed. And that's one of the really big benefits to getting this kind of hope is that we can see what you can't see a lot of the times and guide you where you need to go. Because we adopt, our mind and body and spirit adopt to what's happening in life. So we might numb out to what's missing or not even notice that, which is really where you were at at the time.
00:22:28
Speaker
There is a lot of benefit to getting the outside feedback. I'm sure. For sure. And you have to be ready for it. I mean, the first time I met you in your office, you did an assessment. I have no idea what's going on. You're you're assessing me. I knew that we were having kind of a discovery type meeting. But if I wasn't open to this, you wouldn't have taken me on is what I gathered.
00:22:55
Speaker
after I left. Right?

Readiness and Learning Hypnosis

00:22:57
Speaker
Right. That's why we screen everybody who comes here, whether they're coming as a coaching client or as a student, a hypnosis training student, because we want to make sure it's a good fit and not the person is ready to really engage with this whole experience. Right. So, you know, if you're going to be skeptical,
00:23:16
Speaker
pessimistic, it isn't going to work because that's what you're trying to work on is your mindset. And I know, right from the first assessment that you did on me, and it was like, wow, like, I remember a couple of those exercises. I was like, Oh, my goodness. So I was very open and ready for it.
00:23:38
Speaker
Yeah, awesome. Good. So tell people how they can find out more about you and your services in case they want help with financial coaching. Well, I am we have our sovereign wealth management website and my bio is on there. I'm also on LinkedIn and Facebook. I set up
00:24:06
Speaker
kind of like you Robbie 30 minute discovery calls so that I can find out what the client's needs are, do a little fact fine, understand what keeps them up at night, that sort of thing so that I can see whether we're good fit. And
00:24:27
Speaker
be able to put the right plans in place for them. So those three areas, and I can, Robby, you have my information. You're welcome to share it. It'll be in the show notes or the description. So if anybody wants to reach you, we'll include the link there so they can find you.
00:24:46
Speaker
Absolutely. Great. And if anybody is interested in getting help, whether it's for being in this good zone or with anything else, you can go to hypnosistrainingcanada.com. We have lots of free learning resources there for you where you can learn how to use hypnosis to make your life better. And if you're ready to have a live experience, whether it's a group training or one on one coaching or mentoring,
00:25:11
Speaker
then you can set up a time for a free consultation. And the website is hypnosistrainingcanada.com. So thanks, Teresa. It was really great to see you. It's so great to hear about how you're doing now because I don't think we've hardly talked for the past year since you were coming here. So it's wonderful. Absolutely. Running with them. Absolutely. Thank you so much for your help and making my life the best life it can possibly be.
00:25:40
Speaker
You've done your part. It's my pleasure. That's why I do what I do.
