I think i I wanted to do the anodizing so badly because it was a new process or whatever that I wasn't i wasn't thrilled with the color and I don't think it was going with the color scheme. ah So I was just looking at it and there was a little gap in the front of the one of the one of the scales between the scale and the bolster that I was not happy with.

Yesterday was the very first time that I have ever forged at my house solo alone with just me and myself and all my insecurities.

Um, and the, uh, induction forge, um, thanks to my good buddy, mister Dennis here, uh, came over on Saturday and we plumbed up, uh, and put that thing together finally, now that the electrical work was done. Um, and put in a, uh, I didn't even realize it when I was looking for something, um, in the, uh, the metal rack, the steel rack. Um, I completely forgot I even had.

Um, so I've explained many times on the on the show and to to lots of people that forging, for whatever reason, it mystifies me. It it makes me angry because I don't ah and didn't quite understand how the metal moves, um you know the processes, the progressions, the you know there's all kinds of shit. And it it just didn't come natural to me. it's not It doesn't come natural to me. So um every time I go and I forge with somebody, I find myself

ah feeling like I'm trying to pay attention and learn, right? But I'm always focusing focusing on what am I going to retain? Like what is it going to stick? um And I get overwhelmed. And then I just tell myself, well, fuck it, just be in the moment with whoever's teaching you or or showing you. And I end up just like leaning on the instruction whoever's with me, right? What do I do next? What do I do next? What do I do next? So on Sunday, right, there's there's nobody to lean on, right? I'm making call people and do all that crap. But I just got busy, man. And I am and I mean this with all seriousness, I was so overwhelmed with how much retention of from all of the people that I forged with like bits and pieces of, you know, this and that um all the way down to like, you know, just starting to swing the hammer over and over by myself and starting to feel, you know, where I can improve on that and what was a good hit and what was a good strike and

Um, but more importantly, just kind of like getting through the, the knife, you know, getting the tip in, setting the handle, setting the swell on the handle, preform, trying to do the bevel, drawing it out, like the, and it started to come out. And like, as in right in front of me, I was started looking, I'm like, Holy shit, this kind of looks like a knife shaped thing. It's far from.

for good by any reasons, right? And I still know what the hell I'm doing. But I was at the end of the day, um I had a sense of accomplishment and and pride in and how much I was able to retain and and actually apply all by myself. It was such a great feeling. like i've been Not that I'm getting my ass kicked by knife making, but um I think we all can relate to the fact that we love doing this, right? Some days it's just not fun, right? It's just the motions. And there's always processes that we enjoy doing more than others.

That's awesome. And the proportions looked, I mean, I don't have it in my hand, but I think one and when I started, one of the most common things I would do incorrectly is like, I i would forge the handle, but then it would be like too thick, not thick, too wide.
