Pt 1 ~ Behind the Magic ~ 3 Goals, 1 Month, Big Change (And How You Can Too)

This episode is a little FUN & different! I’m taking you behind the scenes of my own September challenge. I set myself three personal goals around career, money, and meditation, and created journal prompts to help me call these manifestations in within the month. Throughout the episode, I share openly the ups and downs I experienced, the changes I made when I realised I was stuck in negative ruts, and how quickly everything shifted when I decided to take aligned action. (P.s. I’ve ended up breaking this episode up into parts, as you’ll see from the title! Part 2 will be coming soon and is me only a few days after this episode!)

My hope is that this inspires you to create your own version of this challenge for October (or whatever month you’re listening in). So i'm recording today's little snippet on the 1st of September, and I'm really excited because I've just had this rush of energy that is really,

kind of encouraging me, I guess, to actively manifest. Now, as you guys know, as my smileys, I haven't really been actively manifesting like the old Cleo would since I had Indigo for a few reasons. One reason is I've been very spiritually frustrated. I've been a little bit out of alignment.

The second reason is because she's my number one now. I don't have all the time and the energy in the world to pour into self and spiritual development. And the third reason being is that I have been hesitant to set goals because I don't want to put pressure on myself to achieve those goals. And if that means in the meantime, I'm sacrificing any time away from Indigo or let's say Indy gets sick or you know She just needs her mom. I felt uncomfortable setting goals because I just always want to put her first, you know non-negotiable, and I don't want any kind of pressure attached to that.

However, she's one and a half now, and I've just, as I mentioned, I had this rush of energy that it is time to manifest again. And I thought I would take you through the month of September. Again, i don't know how many different recordings I'll do over the month. It might be once a week. It might just be two over the month. It might be every bloody day. Who knows?

But we're going to go through the journey together because what I want this to do for you is I want it to inspire you to do the same thing or similar for October.

September, October, November, or December, they're very exciting months, but September and October, especially because what we can do is we can take these months to set ourselves up to really enjoy the last couple of months of the year. The last couple of months of the year can be exciting. They're full of Well, they can be. I know obviously Christmas can be a really hard time for some people.

For a lot of people, Christmas is a beautiful time where family and friends come together. It's a time where a lot of us get you know a break from work. ah Maybe you might have holidays booked or whatever it is for you. Everyone's circumstance is going to be different, of course.

But what I'm wanting to do is September for me, I have the power to change things in my life. And right now there are some things that need changing. And I want this to motivate you to be able to pick and choose what you want to change in your life and actively make those changes. Because if we don't change anything internally, nothing will change externally.

Power of Thoughts and Beliefs

And the exciting thing is, is that we have the power to change literally everything in our life, every circumstance, every person, every piece of information and energy that we allow to reside in our subconscious mind.

We have the power to change. We have the power, like we hold the power to change our lives. And I find that so exciting. And as I mentioned, I'm just feeling really motivated and really excited to do this for myself. And I hope this episode can really inspire you to take some bits and bobs of what I do during September and do them for yourself in October. What we will do then is we are setting ourselves up for a really beautiful end of the year, an end of the year that will flow. Why will it flow? Because if you take a month, And I'm just talking a month now. So for you, I'm talking the month of October. For me, I'm doing it for September.

But for you in October, I can guarantee you, if you take four weeks to show up as the best version of you, to honor yourself by actually doing the things that you tell yourself that you will do or want to do you will create positive change.

And this positive change will be lasting. It will create lasting effects that continue to flow on eventuate, expand. This is when you will start to manifest effortlessly without even trying.

And this is my story. This is my September story. So I am going to now tell you what I have done this morning on the first of the month. And, or actually this reminds me, no, I'm probably, I'm going to put this out a few days before the start of October, just so you guys have a chance to like think about it. And then on the first of October, really get started, which means my Oracle card readings may not be out just yet. So Please forgive me if they're not out just yet, um but they will be out on the 1st of October in the morning. They always are of the 1st of the month.

Overcoming Negative Thoughts

So I'm going to take you through what I have done this morning and the whole of September when i come in and I film little bits for this episode, we'll be letting you guys know how I'm going with my goals. So you can kind of come along with me during this episode in real time,

to see how I'm going, any challenges I'm facing. Maybe some days I might be like feeling a little bit smacked in the face, a little bit, you know, I might be losing faith. Or maybe there are some days where I'm feeling so energetic and I'm receiving ideas of how to complete this manifestation. Or maybe I have received a part of my dream that has popped up and my manifestation is materializing. I will tell you guys throughout the month how it's all going.

And I want you to be able to take this, and apply it to your life, how it works for you. so What I have done, i have written a little journal entry and I have written up the top September. So you will write October and I have written under that my most expansive month yet.

Okay. So the next little thing that I've written was your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head. that's by Lisa Nichols. I'm not actually so sure who she is, but obviously wanted to credit her. That's not my quote.

Now, what I have realized and the reason why I am setting myself this challenge for September is literally because of this quote. So I'll read it again. Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head.

For the month of August, so my last month, I have really noticed that I'm allowing so many thoughts to reside in my mind for no reason at all and for far too long.

For example, I was having like a really hard couple of days. Some things happened with Indigo and it was just, it was really overwhelming and had me feeling like I was ah bad mom and that nothing I could do was right.

Now, when I'm feeling really good, i like to say to myself, everything I'm touching is turning to gold. I remember when I was living in LA and I was really in my manifesting phase of life, I would say it to myself all the time from little things to like, I'd be crossing the road and the green man went off as soon as I would like, you know, arrive to cross the road. And I would just think everything I touched turns to gold.

And then, you know, i don't know, I'd be at the shops and I'd get like a huge discount on, I don't know, my apples, whatever. You get the point. would think, oh my gosh, just everything I do just turns to gold. Everything is working out for me. Everything is easy.

Everything I touch turns to gold. Well, in August, I was feeling and I was thinking the absolute opposite. I was continually telling myself that,

I can do no right. Everything that I do turns to shit, essentially. Everything's going wrong. I can't do anything good enough. And this was playing back in my head over and over and over again.

i left it in my subconscious mind, these feelings and these thoughts, because I was feeling sorry for myself and because I was just getting comfortable in negativity. It just felt good to just feel a little bit meh, a little bit sad for myself and just let it all like just...

fester in my subconscious mind, I guess. I didn't have the energy or the motivation to move forward positively at all. So I just left it there.

So what I did when I left these thoughts of just, you know, everything, like I can't do anything right in my mind was my reticular activating system was then alert to everything that I was doing wrong.

And my subconscious mind was constantly searching for evidence to prove to myself that yes, Cleo, everything that you do is wrong. Everything that you do is crap. Everything that you do is never good enough.

And I was allowing it to happen. What I realized was the thoughts that I was allowing to stay in my subconscious mind were absolutely dictating my whole entire life. So everything that I was doing, everything that I was saying, my reactions, everything that I was feeling was dictated by these thoughts that were sitting in my subconscious mind that I was feeding. I was literally like, imagine it like a little seed, right?

I was feeding this seed because i was just in a, I was vibrating low and it almost felt good to feel worse because I was like proving to myself, see, I'm not good enough.

See, I have every reason to cry. See, have every reason to feel like a bad mom and, you know, complain to Luke and whinge or whatever. But what I've realized is that this obviously is not helping me. It's not helping my family. It's not helping anyone.

And who has the power to change it? I do. And how quickly can I change it? Literally this

Exciting Plans for the Future

second. That is the refreshing thing. so I have decided that September is going to be my most expansive month yet and that I am going to make some incredibly positive changes for me so that I can enjoy the last few months of the year. I have a really exciting October, November, December.

We are going away on so many little trips, like just three nights here and there, but we've got like trips with our friends, trips with our family. I'm going to Melbourne with my mum to record an exciting podcast. Like there's just so many things little exciting things coming up And I want to be my best, most clear and positive self so I can be so present and enjoy this time of my life.

If I let these thoughts fester and stay there and grow, you know, assuming the worst, grabbing onto the next negative, I am not, I'm going to be rushing here to here. I'm going to be lacking clarity. I'm going to be feeling negative. I'm going to be vibrating low and I'm not going to enjoy any of it.

So I am making a choice to change. I know that this will take consistency and quite a bit of persistence as well, because i do have like, i don't like to say this because I don't think we should ever commend anyone on like being busy, like being busy, as I've mentioned on the podcast before, isn't necessarily productive or shouldn't be looked at as like, oh my God, she's so successful because she's busy.

Absolutely not. I'm finding though that I do have a somewhat busy life at the moment and I am wearing a lot of hats in business and in motherhood, whatever, not any worse or different to anyone else.

That's just my reality right now. But I have a choice to choose where my energy goes. I have a choice to make time and space for things that are important to me. Now in September, I am changing what I view as important. So let me tell you what my goals are for September and the little, I guess,

questions that I have journaled out this morning, which again, i will put all of this in the show notes. I'm so excited. I'm so excited about this. I'm so glad I'm doing this. By the way, guys, I was not planning on recording a podcast this morning at all. I have sat my microphone on my computer desk. I popped my iPhone up. I did not you know plan anything. like It's just come. And I know that when ideas come like this, you have to trust the process and just go with the flow.

So I hope that this in itself can be a little encouraging and a little reminder to if you have an idea, drop in. If you have a surge of energy, listen to it, go with it and like embrace it. It's exciting. It means that it's meant to be. Okay. So I have set three goals for September.

Now, I nearly went to say they're quite big goals. This is the first lesson for me. Cleo, you know that no one goal is bigger than another goal. i really need to step into the belief of whatever I set my mind to, whatever I believe in my heart, I can achieve No matter how society or how other people or how I may perceive the goal to be size wise, hard, easy, whatever wise.

But I need to train my mind into believing that it will be possible. it is accessible and i do deserve it and I can make it happen. So I have set three goals, guys, that I believe i can do in another way. I need to say it in another way.

I think another way of saying it is when I achieve these goals, I will be so proud and excited because they are exciting goals. I don't want to say the word B-I-G, but I'm thinking it. See, this is a this is good self-reflection for me that I still need to work on I'm still putting these goals a little bit far away from myself.

You can probably hear it in my voice. There's a little bit of hesitation. And I guess like there is a little bit of pressure around this because I am literally documenting it on my podcast. You guys are coming along through September with me, actually hearing me in real time, how I'm going, my progress, what's working, what's not working is, of course, I don't want to get to the end of September and be like, oh, guys, I didn't make it. Like I didn't get the goal. I don't.

Like that would be a little bit embarrassing for me. I'm going to admit it. i know you guys wouldn't judge me and I know there would be lessons in it, but I want to show you that I can do it because I'll be really proud of myself. But also I want to show you that I can do it because that means you can do it too.

So I'm going to be real and honest, uh, whether I get there or not. But again, listen, like I need to listen to myself. Now the self-reflective, uh, lessons are coming out straight away.

Of course I can do it. I can do it because I get to choose if I want something, I can get it. If I have created something in my mind, it is already there. It is already available to me. It's just a matter of bringing it into my physical resistance. I know this.

Goal Setting and Achieving

So yeah, these are my three goals and I'm so excited about it. Okay. My first goal is I have easily reached 1 million downloads on the Pass Around the Smile podcast.

Now, I'm going to go through my three goals and kind of explain to you guys a little bit about them. And then I'm going to go through the steps under each goal of what I wrote for myself and how I'm going to help myself achieve these goals.

And that is what I'll put in the show notes. And this is the structure that I want you guys to follow. I've never used it before. This is very new, but I feel like it's, it is going to work. Of course, it's going to work because we can make anything that we want work. We get to create the positive change in our lives. And I can guarantee if I, if you, me in September, you in October are going to follow something consistently for four weeks, you will create positive change. You will. It's inevitable. And it's so damn exciting.

Remember, I accept this or something better. I accept these goals. Or something far better. Yeah, I've asked for X amount of money in my third goal. What if I make double that? Great.

I accept that. Or something better, you know? Okay. So my first goal, I have easily reached 1 million downloads on the Pass Around the Smile podcast. Again, i feel nervous sharing this because, again, what if what if it doesn't happen?

And I am saying this because I know we all feel similar, especially if we have family members or friends around us who... ah I don't know, aren't spiritually inclined or maybe are trying to protect us in that, oh, you know, if you don't reach that goal, it's okay though. Or maybe we have people that, you know, we're not too fond of that are tearing us down. I personally don't, thank God.

But maybe you do. Maybe you have someone, whether it be a family member or a colleague that you feel is kind of tearing you down or doesn't have your best interests at heart. So you might feel like, you know, I've set this goal, but I want to really like make sure that I get it so I can prove something to like this person or myself. It's never about proving anything to anyone. Remember, and I know you guys know this because I say it all the time, but I'm being realistic. We're human. When we set goals, of course, we're afraid of failing.

So I'm going to be very open with you guys and literally go through my goals and what I have written for each step. And I hope this can inspire and encourage you, give you some ideas and let yourself like think outside of the box as well. There's no right or wrong.

How do I act as if it's already happened? Well, I would create the Instagram post telling you all that I've reached a million followers because it's a big and followers downloads because it's a big milestone.

um So I would not only create the post, but... Because this is, I nearly stopped there, right? I was like, yeah, I'll just create the post. I'll act as if, like, you know, it's it's already happened. So I'll create the post that I'm going to post on Instagram.

And then I almost stopped there. And I thought, oh my gosh, Cleo, do not stop there. You need to write the caption as well. Like you need to, you're going to be posting this any second, right? Because it's happened. So I need to fully write the caption, fully perfect the caption as if I'm about to post it that second, because I have had 1 million downloads on the Pass Around the Smile podcast.

Okay, so um get it all ready as well. I'll have it saved in an album. I'll have the, um you know, the caption. They're ready to go to be copy and pasted with the emojis and the hashtags and whatever.

Okay, so the next one is how would I feel? Well, When I reach 1 million downloads on the Pass Around the Smile podcast, I wrote, I would feel proud, excited, and powerful. Really think about how you would feel when you have manifested the thing that you are wanting to manifest. I'm so excited, guys. I'm really excited. Make sure you reach out and let me know how you're going.

You know, whether it's good or bad, I want to hear it because I can help. Okay. So the third one, actionable steps. So what I've written down is apply to Apple podcasts because Then this is for anyone who's listening, who has a podcast, there's this thing that you can do where you apply to Apple podcasts to have your podcast like featured on like, ah I don't know, it's like listen now or like new episode on pass around the smile. So you have to fill out this application form, but basically it will boost your listens on Apple podcasts. And I get so many more listens on Spotify than I do on Apple. So I'm going to do up a big application as to why I think they should feature me. I'm going to put a lot of effort into it.

ah And that is going to be one of my actionable steps. Remember, we can't just visualize it and expect it's going to come on a silver platter. We want to take actionable steps to get our goal to achieve our manifestation.

um But those actionable steps need to feel aligned and fun and exciting. If it feels pressured, if it feels really forced, it's probably not the right route. Like sure, the application form might get tricky, but you need to differentiate kind of tricky, you know, yeah it's hard work here and there versus like this fully feels uncomfortable. This feels wrong. It's feeling so forced. I'm doing it for the wrong reasons.

Okay. So something else that I've written for actionable steps is release episodes as soon as they are edited slash record as soon as the idea comes up. Now I went to be like, you know, release one guest episode, one solo episode, one ritual and one meditation. But for me, that felt, felt forced that put too much pressure on my goal.

And that would allow me to sacrifice time with Indy and Luke. And that is more important for me than reaching a million followers. I keep saying followers, a million downloads, a million followers would also be fantastic.

um But you see here, so I'm really catering and designing my goals for how they sit with me in my life, my values and beliefs. If I had put release one guest episode, one ritual, one meditation, one solo episode, it would be full of forceful energy. I would be feeling anxious.

And we know that when we are feeling anxious, we're not putting the right energy out there to manifest beautiful, effortless, easygoing dreams and goals. Okay.

All right. So the last one is magical steps. So the magical step that I have written for my goal of reaching a million downloads on the podcast is a journal entry as if it is the day that it's happened.

So throughout September, when it feels right, I am going to write a journal entry as if I have just, you know, looked at my analytics and I've ticked over a million downloads.

Okay, let's move on to goal number two, connect spiritually through consistent meditation. This has been something for years that I have wanted to do. i have told you guys so many times on the podcast that...

I am very spiritually frustrated since birth. um Before birth, I fell out of meditation as well. I did get back into it in the last few months of my pregnancy. And of course, during my birth, I had the most magical, intense spiritual awakening, I guess you would call it, that I've ever had in my life.

But there have been like the years... Up until that moment and now the year and a half after birth where I have not reached a place in meditation that I have been happy with.

And whose fault is that? Mine. Why? Because I have not been practicing meditation. i have not been creating space and time. I have not been putting it at the top of my important list ah for many, many reasons. ah One big one at the moment is because it's actually become like a bit of a chore for me, which is really sad because because it's something that I used to get so much joy out of.

And the direct impact that it had on my life was like life changing. So I know the positive impact that meditation can have on me yet. I've fallen out of it. I've pushed it aside and I've become really lazy with it.

So I've decided that if I want to make real change in September, like this is the month I'm doing it because I want to manifest these incredible things. And I know that if I put I guess the thing that I've been putting off for, for so long, the other manifestations aren't going to materialize because I'm not honoring myself enough and doing the hardest work in my mind. Like in my mind, this is going to be the hardest thing to do because it's going to take consistent work, but it is going to be the one that gives me the biggest reward.

So look at what you want There is probably going to be a goal in there that you know is going to take effort, time, practice. So you might be putting it off and you might be going like, oh, I'm just going to like manifest this instead or I'm going to manifest that instead because it's a little goal or it's something I believe easy.

Well, actually, you're probably not even going to get those things if you don't do the thing that's hardest first. This even goes for like, let's say you're at you're at work, right? And you have to-do list of 10 things.

And you do the nine things that are like a little bit easier because that 10th thing is like, it's big and it's going to take a lot of effort or it's going to make you a little bit uncomfortable. Now, I haven't done paid advertising in over two years for my business, which I'm actually really proud of because i haven't spent any money on marketing.
