Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Amazing Rewatch. This is season 13, episode 10, the last episode before the finale. It was a good and disappointing episode. Yeah, um not entertainment wise. It was very entertaining.

The trivia for this episode says that that's the first time that that's happened. That's weird. In race history. I wonder why. Yeah. And we are in Moscow, Russia right now. um And we are going to stay there throughout this whole episode. So their clue says travel by taxi to the nuclear submarine at this park. I don't get the actual word. Did you get it more detailed than me? um I didn't, but I can tell you. Teams must take a taxi to the Severnoye Tushino Park and find the submarine called Komsomolets of Novozibirsk. There the teams must search for the sonar room to find the actor who played the officer in The Hunt for wreck Red October, um who will give the teams their next clue.

And Nick and Star find their same taxi driver, Ken and Tina, the same taxi driver pulls up who has a GPS in his car, which is nice. And they all head that way, Andrew and Dan, get to the submarine and get the clue. But on the way to this park, the teams all get stuck in traffic. It seems like there's pretty bad traffic in Moscow. They're going all across town, it said. They've said it a few times, like the infamous traffic. And with, what did you say, 13 million people? Yeah.

You'd think that more people would take public transportation, yeah but still with 13 million people. Yeah, even if a lot- 22 million in the metro area. Well, um Nick and Star get to this park first and the clue is a roadblock and says, who is good at solving mysteries literally? Yeah, it says the that team member is given the Cyrillic spelling of Lenin and Stalin so that they can read the things, the plaques. The Cyrillic alphabet is weird. Crazy. Have you ever? So there's a fun website that we both like called Sporcle. It's just like a bunch of games and like trivia. And I've done like a match the Cyrillic, or can you guess the Cyrillic? And it's hard.

So Nick does this roadblock and it says your team member must wait in the designated area, which is at the clue box at this apartment building. So he starts the roadblock um while Andrew and Dan are dropped off at a park that has the same name, but it's not that park.

So where Andrew and Dan are dropped off is bright and sunny. And where Nick is at this park is cold and rainy and wet. And I'm like, they must be pretty far apart if they are completely different weather. So Andrew and Dan actually have a really good taxi driver. It speaks English.

And he says that kind of at a in a little interview type of thing that when she gets upset, she just shuts down and she doesn't want to hear anything he has to say. Yeah. And I can see that for sure. We've said it in the past. Yeah. ah Nick is doing pretty good. He gets and six and two as the numbers and heads to the antique shop and gives that to the lady and gets the book and goes to page 62 and finds the street name and gets, he starts walking to the cab and Dallas is passing him on the way to the bookstore and doesn't even notice him or see him but they pass by pretty close closely together. yeah

but Nick just is like, oh, I think he just completely missed me. And Tony, when she's waiting for him, she's like, I don't even know if Dallas knows who Stalin and Lenin are. And she's like, I paid a lot for his education. Yeah. So he gets them mixed up. He gets 36 instead of 62. He counts an extra yeah Stalin, but it's but he thinks it's Leonard. I feel he gets in Stalin is very easy to recognize like with the big mustache and the yeah like the thick black hair. Not for Dallas. I guess not. like I wouldn't even have to have the the there spelling of it. like I wouldn't know what he looks like. yeah

But So yes, he ah um gets to the store and he gives the wrong number. So he has to wait 10 minutes and he gives, he gave, what did we say? 36. And then he gives 46 and has to wait another 10 minutes. And on in the meantime, Nick is heading back to the apartment complex and he gets there and it says, travel by taxi to Sokol Nicky Park, a popular park with children and search for the lady with a Shetland pony to get your next clue.

So Dallas goes in and guesses again and it's wrong. And so she goes in and says 62 and gets it right. And she says, walks out and she says, it's the next number down, you owe me.

Yeah. Cause he gets 63 and they were talking like while they were both waiting, she was like, I think you have them mixed up. So she did help him. Yeah. And he could have been there for a long time because he was like not even close. So, so she helped him a couple of times. And then like probably at least 20 to 30 minutes in the park looking like this is a really long roadblock for him. And Tony is probably just like waiting a long time. Yeah. What's going on? Cause Nick did it really quickly. Yeah. And he got there and they got to the park and they find the lady with the pony and it's a detour. And this clue is also very, very long. I'll tell you. Okay. So the choices are ride the rails or ride the lines.

The key tag will direct them to take a trolley bus to the Ritskaya Station, where they must purchase ah a locker and use the key to open it and retrieve a photo of their next clue.

So Phil says, for the first one, um the metro system is a multilayered system and all signs basically are in Cyrillic so it might be confusing but trains come frequently and if you make a mistake you can easily fix it. Yeah. And then the second one is, it appears less confusing but heavy traffic and similar forms of transportation may confuse and delay. Yeah, because there's there's buses that look really similar to the trolleys, but the trolleys are the ones that are connected to the lines, like the electric lines up at the top. And they're going on the streets, which we have seen have traffic. So yeah I would probably pick right the rails. I probably would too. I think we've always done pretty well with subway, metro type yeah transportation. so And it says all the stations are in Cyrillic, but the clues also in Cyrillic, like they match.

But it looked like when you saw like close-ups of the map, it looked like it had just like phonetic spelled out as well. Yeah, so I'm sure they have enough people in English. Yeah, I need to that can help them and so I did look up hold on the Cyrillic alphabet. There's 33 letters, but there's like a lot of like unused letters that have just kind of like gone out of um They call them archaic. And it was, it's used in like five countries and the earliest, no, I can't find it. The earliest like evidence of it was like a long time ago, like in the 800s. So these people, the statue of these people, they're very old.

The Stalin, like when you looked at the clue and it gave him like the Cyrillic spelling of Stalin, it started with like a C and it was yeah ah just is not the same. Yeah.

So Nick and Starr choose Ride the Rails. They say Nick lives in New York City and is pretty confident in ah navigating yeah metro systems. And Andrew, when he gets the roadblock and he he does the roadblock and he asks their taxi driver to help him with it, but they get the number 61. Yeah, they miss one of the stall and they go to the bookstore. um And In the meantime, Tina heads back to the apartment building or heads to the apartment building where Ken is waiting for her and they get the clue and she, Tony's standing there and she says, I helped Dallas. Cause she wants to let them know that they know her. And Ken's like, you helped Dallas? That's bull crap. She says, Kenny, leave me a alone.

Yeah. Like he really he realizes it. He's like, wait, come back and tries to like chase it down a little bit, but it's gone and he can't find it. But he's like right there at the apartment building. So he just like walks over to Tony and was like, I lost the bag. This is like the kiss of death in the amazing race. Yeah.

Why would you even take that off? ah yeah Why was it on the floor? Because it's a fanny pack type of thing. Why would you ever unbuckle it, ever? I don't know. Yeah, so he leaves all their money and their passports in the cab and Dan is standing there and he says,

That's an interesting development. Yes. He's like listening to all of this and he's like, Ooh, we have, we have some help. And they turned to Dan to ask him for money and he, and they're like, Oh, we, yeah, that doesn't make sense. He doesn't have the money. Andrew has their money. Yeah. Cause the, the person that went to do the roadblock had to take the money cause they had to pay for taxis.

So at this point, they need to take a cab to the park to find the lady with the Shetland pony to get the clue. So they go out to the street and they ask for money and they're like, what's the cheapest way to get there? And somebody tells them the trolley. So they get enough money to get on the trolley and get there, but they're supposed to take a cab. The clue says, take a taxi. So, and Dan or Andrew gets there and So they're all finished with the roadblock at this point. Nick and Star have already started on the detour. Andrew did because he guessed 61. So he had to wait the 10 minutes. Yeah. And then many he just guessed 62. Yeah. So you got it right. And then, yeah. So Tony and Dallas, they get to the park before Ken and Tina, or no, no, no, sorry. Ken and Tina get to the pony and they choose ride the lines.

Then Tony and Dallas get to the park before Andrew and Dan, but Andrew and Dan are like right behind them and all four of them start running really fast up to the clue box. And Tony and Dallas ask the lady for the clue and she shakes her head no. And they're like, Oh, we had to travel by taxi. So now they have to get more money back to this apartment complex.

And we all know how well Dan is at performing and his coordination. They even laugh. They're like performer from traditional Russian dance and they chuckle. Yeah. This is a really weird speed bump because they don't go through a practice or like give an instruction on what to do. They just have to kind of jump into the dance and follow what everybody's doing. Yeah. And it's kind of weird. It's funny. They're very funny. At least not that we see. Maybe they did. True.

And then you may get to the next place, or they're riding the trolley and the girls, and they're like, does this trolley take us to this place? And she said, this is not a trolley. So they have to get off at that station, take a cab. They take a taxi back. Back to the beginning and then get on a trolley. And then at that point, Andrew and Dan get on, seems like the very next trolley. It seems like they're really close behind Canatina.

In the meantime, Ken and Tina are doing, they they get to the the person with the key and it says go to this specific station. I don't know which one. And they have locker number 16 and Andrew and Dan have locker number six and or eight and they had there. But they just have a picture of the building. Yeah. And like a little bit of a clue on the back. So they get to the station and Canatina can't quite figure out where they're supposed to go. They like go in the opposite direction of the station and they're just like running around everywhere. Yeah, well, before they even get there, they can start have already checked in this team number one. Yes. And they went on a trip to Anguilla.

They're like so excited because they're going to be in the final. And Phil turns to them and says, Ken and Tina, you're the third team to arrive. However,

you haven't picked up the clue at the end of the detour to check in and and Tina's like what the detour the clue of the detour you mean the key we already got the key he said no did you get the clue that says to come to the pit stop and he said you need to go back and get that so they have to turn around it's not that far but they have to search the grounds while Tony and Dallas are still doing the detour so they had to ask for money to get back to the park they chose trolley, they had to ask money to get on the trolley to the get to the key. Once they get to the key, they have to ask for money to get to the next station. So they're just like begging for money a lot and people are very generous. yeah They don't really have that hard of a time finding people to give them money. And it makes them pretty emotional because they're just like, you know. yeah And Toni keeps saying, okay, we'll just keep plugging along. Yeah, and it seems like they know

Yeah. but they They come walking up kind of towards the this station, this building. Yeah. It's like kind of where the clue that tells them to go to the pit stop is supposed to be. And Phil phil phil walks out of the doorway. and ah You'd have to know. like If you had to stop and beg for money for every single thing you did, plus they had to take the cab back, they so they probably knew that they were last. But also, if they don't have their passports, even if they did check in one, two, or three, yeah they might not have even been able to i know go on. Isn't that a thing? like I thought you couldn't keep racing if you didn't have your passport. I don't know.

And yeah, they. are disappointed. it's really those That is really sad because they've done really good. They've done like almost perfect up until this point. yeah and They've done super well. It was just that mistake. And Dallas is like, I just feel bad that I disappointed my mom. And she said, you did not let me down. I've never been more proud of you. And she actually had a really good attitude about it the whole time.

Yeah so it would be interesting like if this didn't happen, Kennetina probably would have been eliminated. But if they would have had their money, they probably would have just taken the cab yeah in the first place. so they And then they probably, they would have just done the detour without having to ask for money. And Ken and Tina got on a bus instead of a trolley. yeah So they probably would have been moving on and Ken and Tina would have been eliminated.

I do think Nick and Star are gonna win. they that's That was my guess from episode one and they've been doing really good. But like I said, it's only the last leg that matters. They could make a mistake the last leg. There's always a, sometimes a twist. Everybody thought Robin Amber were gonna win and they didn't. Yeah. So so we, ah never know.
