Introduction to Daily Villa Episode

00:00:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome aboard today's episode of the Daily Villa Podcast as part of the Global Sports Podcast Network. My name is Craig Burtisall and I'm delighted to be joined by Dan Tilly to talk all things Villa. How are you doing today, Dan?
00:00:28
Dan
Oh, I'm doing good, mate. Glad to be back chatting, Villa on my favourite podcast. I've really been enjoying what the Villa um podcasting team have been putting out while I've been away. It's been some fantastic stuff and it's really kept me going through a busy work week.
00:00:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, we've all been there, but how about

Tough Week for Aston Villa

00:00:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
this past week? It's a week to forget, right? We dropped two points against Bournemouth in the last 10 seconds of the game. We get knocked out of the cup by Crystal Palace and then get a hiding in the capital. But hey, it's not all will that bad. Unai's just had a birthday and to celebrate it, we're looking forward, not backwards. So how do you feel this past week's going to affect the team, Dan?
00:01:10
Dan
but Well, first of all, happy belated birthday to Unai Emery. I'm sure he's an avid listener, so I'm glad he'll be able to catch up with that. um I think the team and the backroom staff will be incredibly disappointed with what has happened over the last week.
00:01:27
Dan
Unai doesn't strike me as a manager that's used to having four put ba past him very very often um and as ah as a whole I'm sure the team will be really hurting from that draw against Bournemouth as we were so close to taking all three points but as you mentioned on the board Bournemouth are not a bad side and they played well enough to get something out of that game The result in the AFL Cup was disappointing. I was hoping for a little bit of a cup run, but clearly Unite doesn't see that um the same as I do um you know with

Mings' Return and Team Morale

00:02:03
Dan
the heavy rotation. um It's a big plus, though, to see Tyrone Ming's back. That that really, really ah lifted my spirits.
00:02:12
Dan
and The game against Spurs, as you say, really is one just to put behind us, but I'm sure Emery won't be letting the team off that easily.
00:02:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I totally agree. And if that defeat wasn't enough, we've obviously lost Matti Cash again to injury. And I mentioned in the previous episode that Cash going down was kind of of the catalyst of our undoing. um I felt with Kanza shifting wide, the team lost its chemistry. How do you see Villa lining up now that we have the Cash injury? Do you see any changes or do you see Kanza staying at right back?

Konza at Right-back & Team Chemistry

00:02:49
Dan
um I do see Konza staying as right back and certainly on Wednesday as ah the manager just doesn't seem ready to put in um Costa. I'm not going to try and ah pronounce his second name. I will totally butcher it.
00:03:03
Dan
um But his performances at international level um have been relatively good, and he didn't play um that badly against Crystal Palace, so I suppose there's something that Emery sees that I don't, which means he just doesn't quite fancy him. I mean, he's still young, he's only 18, so yeahm I'm not too worried. um I don't actually mind seeing Conza right back, as long as Carlos and Torres are going to do the business as centre-offs.
00:03:32
Dan
I do agree with Cash going off. did It did seem to be the start of our undoing. But you know I do think there was also some very silly mistakes and lay lazy playing out from the back from Powell, certainly for one of the Solanke goals. We just didn't match their intensity in the end.
00:03:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it was tough. And um I am going to try and announce the name because I've had my speech coach, which is my 13-year-old boy, Jeremy, who every single time I've had the post, his podcast, he said that, you've said his name wrong again, Dad.
00:03:56
Dan
Good man.
00:04:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's Nadalkevich, okay? So Jamie, thank you for that and hopefully I finally conquered that. So, yeah, so I agree with you. Nidalkovic has done decent when he's been on, um but it does seem like Unai thinks he's not ready.
00:04:18
Dan
and Yeah.
00:04:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, because he keeps reverting back to Kanza going to right back. And I do agree with you that one, um I believe Kanza will start a right back because it just seems like it's Unai's preferred go-to when cash is out injured.
00:04:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I do think though the only time that works is when Diego is how is on fire and when he is consistent he's a great alternative centre back to go in there but like I've said before I don't think he is Mr Consistency.
00:04:47
Dan
don
00:04:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
I do think he does struggle from time to time So I think Konza will start in that position with Diego inside and hopefully with it being a Champions League

Champions League Hopes vs Club Bruges

00:05:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
game we spoke about Big Carlos being the big time centre back and turning up for big games and you really can't get any bigger than a Champions League game, right?
00:05:00
Dan
okay
00:05:06
Dan
yeah
00:05:10
Dan
No, certainly not. So let's hope he turns it on.
00:05:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's it. And Bruges is the team that we're going to play club Bruges. They're second in the Belgium league. Um, they're already seven points behind gang clothes. So it kind of shows you that even in the Belgium league, it's a one, one horse race, pretty much.
00:05:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um, they find themselves 26 in the champions league. So six points behind the mighty Villa is the gap of the Premier League getting wider and wider, or do you actually see this as a difficult game?
00:05:33
Dan
yeah
00:05:43
Dan
Well, I had this down for a villa win when the draw was made, but after the week we've had, um I would settle for a draw, to be honest. this um They have played both Dortmund and Milan, um although conceding ah six goals over the total of those over those games. So I think we can certainly cause them problems.
00:06:04
Dan
I think the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world and and has been for a long time with no disrespect to the Belgium league. um You know, the competition seems higher in the Premier League, whether that's because we seem to have had ah a lot of footballing royalty come through the Premier League. I mean, certainly not all of it. We're, you know, not going to be able to see Messé and Mbappe playing anytime soon in the Premier League, but we've had a lot of it. um And the Premier League seems a very hard league to survive in. So if anything's going to set you up for the Champions League, I'd say it is the Premier League.
00:06:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
I do agree with that. The only thing I do agree with, ah well, kind of disagree with as well is the fact that um because the Premier League is so competitive that sometimes we go into a Champions League game, the worse for wear.
00:06:49
Dan
Mmm.
00:06:58
Dan
Yeah, completely.
00:06:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Whereas like when a team, say like Paris Saint-Germain, for example they and Bayern Munich they bring their A game for a Champions League game and then they can actually rest players for their league play then and that's like Bayern Munich's playing up against the top teams your Dortmund, your Leipzig and Leverkusen that sort of thing but when they're playing against a
00:07:03
Dan
Mmm.
00:07:08
Dan
Yeah.
00:07:13
Dan
Indeed.
00:07:16
Dan
Yeah. yeah
00:07:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
FC Berlin or something along those lines it can actually turn it down so I think at times I've always made the expression steel sharp and steel so the fact that Premier League teams are going to be better in Europe because our league is more competitive on any given day we've seen it Bournemouth can beat Arsenal, Bournemouth can beat Man City, teams like that Ipswich can get a draw against Villa and so on
00:07:23
Dan
Yeah. ye
00:07:39
Dan
Yeah. Yeah, indeed.
00:07:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So it definitely makes it easier to interact all these better players in and create those better teams. But going into Europe for me, especially WAI Games, is still a little untried and tested for Villa.
00:08:03
Dan
Yeah,
00:08:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know we had the um obviously the the conference league last season and we struggled against teams in a WAI Games that were sitting in on us.
00:08:12
Dan
definitely.
00:08:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you expect Geng to play, not Geng, confusing myself there, Bruges to play that wide? Do you si think they'll sit in against the Villa?
00:08:21
Dan
And if I was managing the game against Villa, ah that's exactly what I would do. And I'd get um trying to hit us on the break. we We seem to have really struggled with breaking teams down recently. And I think um a lot of that has to do with and really the right hand side of Aston Villa. I think Bailey has really struggled to show the form that we know he has.
00:08:49
Dan
and Do we start looking at how big a Miss Diabe actually is for Villa? you know he Whatever we say about him, he might not have had the best time at Villa, but he had tremendous pace and he scared teams that were playing against us. so you know eight It's a tricky one. it's a tricky one i mean They are going to want to turn their form around in the Champions League.
00:09:20
Dan
It's tricky to see how they are going to line up against us really.
00:09:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so I've been doing a little research on Club Bruja, head of the podcast. and i I see that they play a 4-2-3-1 and they have a lot of strength in that three behind the striker.
00:09:33
Dan
you
00:09:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
um um' I'm really going to struggle to pronounce their name. So if there's any Belgians out there, they can give me a little tip. I really hope it would be helpful, but they have this left left back that likes to overlap, likes to get forward very much like Luca Dean.
00:09:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
His name I believe is Dukupia. um and Dzalis as well is their left wing on the side. So and looking at like previous games and their ratings that they've been given, um they're hitting like high sevens in their ratings.
00:10:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it looks like it's going to be a strong side to their left. So our right side has to be ready for that.
00:10:18
Dan
Yeah, indeed.
00:10:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah certainly so when we come back after a short break we're going to talk about how we believe Villa will line up after the short break from Zencaster
00:11:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome back and just before the break we started talking about how we feel Club Bruges will cause us some troubles.
00:11:14
Dan
Thank you.
00:11:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
We mentioned the fact that we feel their left hand side will could cause our right side some trouble. So we're going to talk now about the how we feel Villa will line up against Club Bruges.
00:11:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
So what do you think Dan? Any surprises or is it business as usual?
00:11:35
Dan
Well I don't think it's wholesale changes and i was obviously this has actually now been almost um turned on its head my answer for this with your previous comments just before the break it's really put the cat amongst the pigeons um I mean, I would start with Watkins up front for the first 45 and then I'd swap for Duran at half time. I think it'd be interesting to see if we can start with Bailey, but with what you've just said, putting McGinn on that right hand side to offer a little bit more protection. um

Impact of Injuries on Aston Villa

00:12:11
Dan
Saying that, I don't think he played particularly well in the Tottenham game. I think he he didn't show his best.
00:12:18
Dan
um And we are, as I say, struggling down that right-hand side at the moment, which with what you've just brought to light is a little bit of a worry. um So I don't see um wholesale changes like we did in the AFL, the AFL Cup. But maybe we'll see Mattson in Fadina.
00:12:37
Dan
um And with Barkley being out, it seems that we kind of are sub-anana after about 60 minutes or certainly 45. So it'll be interesting to see what is done there. um You know, maybe bring Bailey on at that point and bring McGinn into the centre, seeing if we're doing well in the game. um If not, then maybe we have to rethink.
00:13:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's it's funny because at the beginning of the season when we made all our wholesale changes, if you will, with Louise leaving, D'Arby leaving, I took a look at the team and as the as the season went on, I was like, oh, we've got good strength here in depth. But now even just a couple of injury tweaks, like we're losing cash, we're losing broccoli,
00:13:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
It starts to seem a little light, especially on the right back position. We said that he doesn't feel comfortable using the Dalkevich, doesn't seem comfortable using Bogarti. And let's be frank, Bogarti is the centre back that basically is p played on the right hand side.
00:13:38
Dan
Right.
00:13:42
Dan
Indeed.
00:13:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've barely out of form. McGinn has played more recently on the right-hand side. um We've barely been brought off to the bench to kind of give him that momentum to try and pick up that form.
00:13:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've seen Tillamans and Onana be the pretty much our modern midfield, like consistent each week with Barkley coming off the bench.
00:14:04
Dan
yeah
00:14:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
But now we've shifted McGinn out to the right. We've Barkley now out injured. There's only radio, Nana, and CD-Mans that can play there.
00:14:17
Dan
Indeed.
00:14:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's making it tough then to get rotation of minutes and everything like that. So there's part of me that agrees with you about having Bailey come back in for this game.
00:14:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we can have that extra midfielder on the bench that's not really being saved for Liverpool, but also a concern in case one of them goes down injured.
00:14:36
Dan
and Yeah.
00:14:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
If we lose Oh Nana or Tiedemanns now, yes, we do have Kamara as well to throw into the play as well. but it's Kamara 90 minutes ready. I don't think so yet. So so it does worry me there.
00:14:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
um As I mentioned, I do see from the videos I've watched, the left-hand side of ah of Club Bruges being a threat to us. So when I ah see that, I automatically go into that defensive mode of being, well, I'd rather not badly there.
00:15:07
Dan
Mm-hmm.
00:15:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
But there's also part of me, if Emery's convinced that he can handle it, then we'll be dangerous on the counter-attack more. So let Bruges have the ball, let them come out at us, Bayley can get in behind.
00:15:17
Dan
yeah
00:15:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because one of the things I do agree with Miss with DRB, when we play against teams that leave a high line, him in behind with his pace was really deadly.
00:15:25
Dan
Yeah.
00:15:31
Dan
yeah
00:15:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
But the one thing we aren't losing out when teams sit back on us, DRB struggled.
00:15:37
Dan
Yeah, sure.
00:15:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And so was Bayley this year.
00:15:39
Dan
Yeah, indeed.
00:15:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know what I mean? I'm hoping this could be a game where Bailey finds his form, like we did at the beginning of the season, we were hoping Ali would find that his form eventually, and he did. So I really hope Bailey can hit the ground running now. So ah for me, I think it would be Martin Ezzengold. Obviously, there's no question marks for that for Champions League football. Konza at right back.
00:16:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Diego um and Torres in the center. Torres didn't have the best of games against Spurs. Obviously he had a few errors, but um that's a rarity for me.
00:16:11
Dan
Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Um, because I've already making the change, I would have put Madison in, um, but with the change of cash as well, I think it's just too much. Uh, so I think Luca Dean will start.
00:16:23
Dan
Yeah.
00:16:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Then you got Megan, uh, Bailio go for on the right now, based on what we spoke about with Oh Nana and Tealemans. So Megan moves to the bench, um, in order to come on, if Bayley struggling or to give rest or a different option in that center mid for Oh Nana and Tealemans.
00:16:35
Dan
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'd go Rogers on the left and then um i I would stick with Morgan Rogers and Watkins sitting in front.
00:16:51
Dan
yeah
00:16:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I do like the idea of having one eye on Liverpool and probably giving to around 45 minutes as opposed to just a 30. So I like your idea there of um having him there.
00:17:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
So i think I think that would be good. Does anything any of those 11 spark any alarm bells there?
00:17:09
Dan
and No, i if if we if I saw that on onX, or as I, you know, with my age, I did very well to call it X, I normally call it it Twitter. um But if I saw that announced onX, I'd be relatively comfortable. It is down that right hand side that troubles me. I think going forward, we have enough But we do need to see Bailey hit the ground running with some so good early um play. And I think that will just breed confidence in him. And I think if he can get an assist, put in a couple of good crosses, you know, and and really go for the byline, not cutting back and constantly trying to overplay it, I think he will come good.
00:17:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
agreed i think he just as you say doesn't need to over complicate things just get back to his uh nut and bolt and go for it, you know what I mean?
00:18:02
Dan
Great.
00:18:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
And i like I always love a good segue. So if going from club Bruges, you'll see that Minhulay will most likely start in goal for club Bruges and Minhulay will be recognised to all of our listeners as being a former Liverpool goalkeeper.
00:18:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Definitely getting up there in his age now. um But with that being said, the segue is talking about Liverpool at the far of the weekend. Um, so Liverpool come straight away on Saturday and they're three days from our Champions League game.

Premier League vs Champions League: Prioritization?

00:18:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
So if you were UNI, Dan, what would be your priority? Is it the league or is it the Champions League?
00:18:40
Dan
of what this This really isn't an easy question to answer.
00:18:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah That's why I asked you.
00:18:45
Dan
um ice cream yeah um I think if if we'd have beaten Bournemouth and got a result against Tottenham, my answer would be very different.
00:18:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:18:56
Dan
um And I'd have said we go all guns for the Champions League because we are so close to getting the points required for that automatic qualification. it' It's really hard to ignore that now. We really are staring that down.
00:19:13
Dan
but Unless Unai Emery's plan to re-qualify for the Champions League is to win the thing, we need to keep an eye on the Premier League. And Anfield is not the place to go if if you're not all guns blazing, you know, if you're if you're not fully ready. um You know, if we beat Bruges it puts us in that fantastic position. But we do have to keep an eye against Liverpool. ah Basically, all I've All I've discovered in answering this question is it's a good job I'm not managing Aston Villa, to be perfectly honest. I mean, I'd love to see us go far. I've been loving the Champions League ride, but potentially that is going to come to an end sooner than I would like. So we do need to keep our eye on the bread and butter and getting there next year. That's the real challenge for me.
00:20:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's funny because everyone's always joked that every Premier League team is always two two games away from a crisis.
00:20:15
Dan
yeah
00:20:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like if you lose two games, it's now a crisis.
00:20:17
Dan
Yeah.
00:20:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I'll be honest, it feels like that, the way we're talking as a Villa fan base at the moment. Yes, we've had disappointment. It was a draw against Bournemouth, and we've gone over the fact that it actually wasn't that bad of a

Fan Reactions to Aston Villa's Performance

00:20:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
result based on what's happened.
00:20:30
Dan
No not at all.
00:20:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Then obviously, we had Crystal Palace in the league. and I'll put my hand up and please comment on our facebook social media accounts and everything like that if you think I'm wrong. If there was any competition we go out of, it's the League Cup. It's as simple as that. like i I fully understand Villa fans and me in general want trophies and I totally agree with that.
00:20:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
But if you had to sacrifice one thing, we'd all agree it was that.
00:20:59
Dan
Yeah, great.
00:20:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it's not like we didn't go out to not win. We didn't play a bunch of kids. We played our fringe players who are trying their best to get into our starting 11.
00:21:05
Dan
Yeah.
00:21:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it was a win-win for me. These players are trying to prove that they can make the team and so on. So it's there. Yes, Spurs game, we have no defending that that. That right there was a rough day.
00:21:20
Dan
Yeah.
00:21:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Could have been very different.
00:21:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not going to make excuses for the boys. and Thankfully, the boys aren't making excuses as well. They're coming out saying it wasn't good enough and as simple as that.
00:21:30
Dan
Yes.
00:21:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
But now, I agree with you that the answer to this question is very different based on the previous three games that we've had. um In the league, we've now dropped down to, I believe, in sixth place.
00:21:40
Dan
Yeah, a great.
00:21:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But get a result against Liverpool. i would I would bite your hand out if we could get a draw at Anfield now. I totally agree. so If you asked me at the end of this weekend, at the end of this week, what would be success for Villa, if we got four points out of those two games, I would be very happy come to podcast next week.
00:22:07
Dan
I have to agree. um you know it The AFL Cup, we we have good history in that but you know i'd I'd much rather see us um do well in the Premier League and the Champions League. I have a very soft spot for the FA Cup so I can't wait for that to come round and I hope we have a bit of a a good cup run, but it's an interesting thing that you've said about um clubs being in crisis after two losses. Our fan base is a glorious fan base, which we are both a part of, but we do seem um do have a tendency um amongst us to go into absolute meltdown if ah something doesn't go our way. and And I was dreading looking at the social media feeds after the Tottenham game.
00:22:55
Dan
um Thankfully, though, as you've pointed out, the club have come around and the lads have said, no, it wasn't good enough.
00:22:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:23:02
Dan
And it isn't the usual high standards that we've come to expect. You know, how, how often did, um in the past, did we go down to Tottenham and expect to win?
00:23:13
Dan
You know, that's only in our recent history that that has been the case. And, and Bournemouth, you know, they, they beat Arsenal and they've just beaten City. So it's no, you know,
00:23:26
Dan
we we could look back at that point and say, well, all right, actually, that's not a bad point to have. So we'll see where we go.
00:23:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Totally agree. And with the Liverpool game in mind as well, obviously we've still got the Champions League tied with Club Bruges, Liverpool coming afterwards. We've named our starting 11 that we believe will start against Club Bruges.
00:23:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously it's only three days then until Villa play Liverpool. Do you expect any of those positions to rotate?
00:23:56
Dan
Well, I certainly don't think we're going to see a different goalkeeper. We might see a ah different left-back. As as I said, i I would have put in Matson and kept Denia for the Liverpool game.
00:24:07
Dan
um It's all about, as you've rightly mentioned, do we get through the Bruges game unscathed in midfield?
00:24:18
Dan
Because if something goes wrong in there and someone picks up a knock, we could be in um a little bit of a pickle. um Kamara is, I agree with you, I don't think he's 90 minutes ready.
00:24:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:24:30
Dan
I don't think he's far off. he had some wonderful moments in that AFL Cup game, but I don't think he's ready for 90 minutes at Anfield. So I would start again with Anana and Tealemans. I think we need to also mention that Rodgers looks like he's picked up a small knock. It doesn't look like it's going to affect him too much, but that might be a bit of a concern whether or not he does the full 90 minutes in both of those games. But
00:25:02
Dan
But, you know, this is where the problem in in lies in that we've clamoured so often and wished for Champions League football and ah now we're all stuck trying to work out how to play it.

Very true, and the reason I bring up like the midfield in general, because after watching Liverpool play, there we we can call them their front six,

Exploiting Liverpool's Weaknesses in Midfield

00:25:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
because no matter how many players they put in there, they're dominant in the attacking third.
00:25:25
Dan
Yeah.
00:25:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
However, I do see Liverpool's weakness being that midfield. I feel like they're young, they're inexperienced, they're not as world-renowned as their strikers, for example.
00:25:36
Dan
Okay. Yeah.
00:25:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think our midfield could bully that game. I do really think the power could rely in that midfield where we could get some success if the likes of McGinns playing upright and can squeeze in with Ohnana, Ramsey, Rogers dropping in deep, Tillemans as well.
00:25:49
Dan
yeah
00:25:53
Dan
Okay.
00:25:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think those players could isolate their midfield and really create a dominance. So I think that's going to be the key to victory for Villa against Liverpool. So I think, like you said, they're coming out of the Champions League game with our midfield unscathed. I think it's going to be the biggest chance for Villa to get anything out of the Liverpool game, because if we let their front six, three run at us, then it's going to be it's going to be a lot of trouble.
00:26:26
Dan
yeah Yeah, I mean, you know, um I'm not looking at the Liverpool game with incredible um optimism, and unlike when I looked at the Bayern Munich game.
00:26:37
Dan
Um... Liverpool has always been a hard team for Villa to go and play against right the way back from my youth. um So I've always had them as a Villa's bit of a bogey team. So if we can dominate that midfield though, you we've got some good players in there and Anana has really shown that he can dominate and be a bit of a ball winner. And if we do look like we're having a bit of a struggle and we can bring in people like um Kamara to help shore up with that defensive mindset, then
00:27:08
Dan
Yeah, then maybe we can have a bit of joy. You might have just raised my optimism levels a little bit with that, so good on you Craig.

Global Sports Podcast Network
I was going to say, Dan, because I was going to say the day that Dan Tilly doesn't come in with optimism to avail a podcast is the day I don't want to do it anymore. So that ah we will be back after a short message from Global Sports Podcast Network.
00:27:25
Dan

Welcome back and now to end the episode, we have the dreaded predictions. Last week on the crossover episode, I correctly predicted five goals would be scored in the Spurs game.
00:28:13
Dan
Yeah. Yeah.
00:28:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
However, I did have Villa winning three too.
00:28:16
Dan
but
00:28:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it can always come back to beat you on bite you on the backside. So, Dan, what's your predictions for Wednesday's game?
00:28:25
Dan
Well, as I've said earlier, I'm i'm just still enjoying the Romid of the Champions League. i you know There's not very often many occasions where I get to watch football on a weekday night, so that's a little bit of enjoyment. If um if I was going with my head, i I'd say 1-1 for this. But what I'm going to do is go with my heart and say that Villa are going to go to Bruges and win 2-1, that's why I'm going with 2-1.
00:28:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's so funny, I feel like you're reading my notes here.
00:29:00
Dan
no
00:29:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going the opposite way though. I was hoping for a 2-1 win, but I'm going for a more, in my amount mind at least, a realistic 1-1.
00:29:11
Dan
rome
00:29:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I really hope you're right, and now I'm the one that has to eat humble pie next week.
00:29:15
Dan
so
00:29:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I'm gonna go with a 1-1 which I don't think would be the worst of results before anyone starts being critical So I think as I said if we can get four points out of this week I will go very happy and I don't mind whether it's three in the league and one in the Champions League or vice-versa.
00:29:22
Dan
ah definitely Absolutely.
00:29:31
Dan
Mm hmm.
