Speaker: Our Buy Me A Coffee link is in the show notes. Now for our fun fact of the day. Let's talk about the first recorded skydiving jump. Many people think skydiving is a modern sport, but its history goes back much further than most people realize.
Speaker: The honor of the first official parachute jump goes to André Jacques Garnerin, who made history on October 22nd, 1797.
Speaker: He obviously didn't jump from an airplane. He was actually a balloon enthusiast looking for a safety device. He ascended in a hydrogen balloon over Paris' Monceau Park and jumped from approximately 3,200 feet.
Speaker: His parachute was nothing like the high-tech gear skydivers use today. It was made from silk and resembled a large umbrella. it didn't even have a hole at the top, which caused him to swing violently during his descent.
Speaker: I have to say that's one thing. I've gone ziplining. I've been in a hot air balloon. Skydiving, I don't think I would ever do. I wouldn't. It's not on my bucket list. I would prefer ziplining, which we've been together before.
Speaker: All right, let's jump into a quick round of this or that based on today's theme. This or that extreme experiences in the sky.
Speaker: Would you rather do dinner in the sky or paragliding? um I'm going to be real. I love to eat, but the thought of eating in the sky terrifies me. I would probably choke. um Although they look pretty safe in there.
Speaker: But I've done the paragliding on ah VR headset, and that seems a little more relaxing, maybe because it was in a controlled environment. But I got to go paragliding because at least you're like, you know, going down gradually. i just couldn't relax in the sky. and' Same with me. yeah Same with me. Like, I feel like dinner in the sky, you'd have – like, paragliding, you're like in motion. You're like moving around. I mean – get a nice scenery. Yeah. Like dinner in the sky. Like do they have nets? Like what if someone drops their fork or something? Like what do you do?
Speaker: What do they do? That's so true. i know, but I mean, just thinking about going to Disney and like the Flight of Passage ride and the one where you journey through, you know, different countries. What's that one called? Soarin'. Oh, Soarin'. Yes. Soarin'. I love that feeling of like feeling like you're flying. I don't know what it would be like to actually be doing it, but I feel like that gives me a good feel for what paragliding would be like. And I kind of like it.
Speaker: Okay, this or that, 2000 songs featuring Nina Sky, Oemi Canto, or Move Ya Body. I had to look these up because I honestly didn't remember what these were. But once I heard them, i was like, oh my God, I remember this. these were These were jams back in the day. really took me back to the 2000s. And they're twins. Sorry, I just had to say that. I didn't know Nina Sky was um a set of twins. But yeah, they are. They're twins. now But yeah, I think I'd have to go with Move Your Body.
Speaker: I got to go Oemi Kanto. I think that's more of a dancing song for me. And I like Daddy Yankee. Oh, yeah. I got to go with that one. Those are both really good songs. Once I heard them again, was like, wow, these were serious jams. were some jams, yeah.
