tommy cresta: Throwing around his tennis ball, doing some catching. Loves catching balls.
Ryan: Okay. Wait. I have this too. Look at this. This is a, this is a look at this. Look this.
tommy cresta: real baseball?
Ryan: No, it's one of those, like, you skip them on water, but it's a baseball. It's even like, even the laces are like raised too.
tommy cresta: Oh.
Ryan: It's real. It's nice.
tommy cresta: That is nice.
Ryan: I just found it in my garage. I'm like, this is, I'm keeping this.
tommy cresta: I want one of those. Have you seen those guys that play baseball in their house?
Ryan: Oh yeah. Hmm.
tommy cresta: I want the ball that they made. They made like a soft like wiffle ball like squish ball that you can actually like hit and stuff.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
tommy cresta: Play with the boys.
Ryan: They're pumping. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're throwing from like 15 feet away. throwing like 80. eighty
tommy cresta: Dude, they're pumping gas.
Ryan: I don't know how anybody makes contact.
tommy cresta: Yes.
Ryan: It doesn't make any sense.
tommy cresta: Dude, the pictures on the wall just get smashed in videos.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, the best that little kid with his dad just playing wiffle ball and he just freaks out.
tommy cresta: No. Fastball.
Ryan: All the comments are like, dude, you got to hit that kid. Just just once. Just you got to do it. Shut him up.
tommy cresta: My dad used to do wait not not like not like that.
Ryan: Hit you?
tommy cresta: My dad did not abuse me. But my dad my dad would throw behind every once a while in wiffle ball.
Ryan: Yeah, I got you.
tommy cresta: also domed your little sister the one time with a line drive in wiffle ball.
Ryan: I don't my little sister with a curveball one time. And while me and my dad were playing catch, I was like, dad, I'm learning how to throw a curveball. I was a catcher. I had no business learning anything. and And it kate came off the fingers and hit Maggie right in the eye. It was terrible.
Ryan: It was funny.
tommy cresta: Yeah, mi ah me, Elizabeth, and Joseph are playing wiffle ball in the backyard, and I just hit a rope right off your sister's forehead.
Ryan: Looking back.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah.
tommy cresta: it
Ryan: Oh, yeah. Dude, Lizzie has taken beatings before. She is a tank.
tommy cresta: She's an athlete.
Ryan: Yeah, she does not. You cannot hurt that girl at all.
tommy cresta: way but Way better of an athlete than both of us.
Ryan: Yeah. I remember there was one time we were were much younger when it's, you know.
tommy cresta: Oh, I want to play Ranger Suarez. Sorry, just he laid, put his glove to his face, and caught it.
Ryan: that's what he does. But I was, you know, we were roughhousing a little bit. Nothing crazy. it was She's my little sister, but I was young as shit, too.
tommy cresta: Ryan suplexed
Ryan: So it's okay. No, but I did slam her onto a couch and... And she got a nosebleed and she just laughed it off the whole time. She was like nine, nine or 10.
tommy cresta: her.
Ryan: And she just laughed.
tommy cresta: That's a G right there.
Ryan: I was like, that's, this is, she's the best one.
tommy cresta: No wonder are there her and Joseph are such good friends.
Ryan: Yeah. Joseph is made of titanium. That kid's unbelievable.
tommy cresta: Kid hit the church so hard in grade school that he punctured his skull.
Ryan: It's
tommy cresta: And just sat there and was like, I'm bleeding.
Ryan: like, I'm fine.
tommy cresta: he also, for those who can't see these little box squares over here where we have all our stuff, we used have one that was up front.
Ryan: Oh,
tommy cresta: And Grace pushed Joseph. And he laid, if you ever get close to he has a scar. He lay hit the corner already slit above his eye like wide open.
Ryan: oh
tommy cresta: And instead of crying, he just grabbed his blanket and held it up against the blood to stop the bleeding.
Ryan: i've never seen that kid complain or raise his voice above like just speaking normally i've never seen him yell or anything he's just he just doesn't it's just the chillest motherfucker alive yeah
tommy cresta: No, he's just as a vibe.
tommy cresta: and he's a big movie guy. But that's not what we're here to talk about. We're not here to drop more family lore.
Ryan: Good kid.
Ryan: 28 years later.
tommy cresta: 20 years later, that's why we're here.
Ryan: That's the movie we're going to talking about. Or 28 inches later, if you want to call it that.
tommy cresta: The third film in the... Dude, Solomon. Jesus.
Ryan: God damn.
tommy cresta: think it was. I was more afraid of that hitting the kid than the kid gave him ripping the kid's head off.
Ryan: Yeah. how many times
tommy cresta: That's like him.
Ryan: yeah How many times do you think the camera guy got just whacked in the forehead? It's like, God, dude, stop. Please. You got to back up.
tommy cresta: Well, thank. Well, remember, the camera guy was two guys every time because they had a huge rig with them.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: The big camera rig. The phones. It's pretty cool. But yeah, the third film in the 28 weeks. days weeks and Years Later franchise. um The first one in the new trilogy of them, the Danny Boyle franchise, written by Alex Garland, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ray Fiennes, what's the young kid's name?
tommy cresta: Alfie Williams.
Ryan: he would how many How much has he acted? Because he was fantastic for like a young kid like that.
tommy cresta: now um I think this is his first like major role.
Ryan: Yeah, that was but even i got done seeing it with Nate and Puff. I got in the car and i was like, dude, that kid was amazing. And even they were like, he was phenomenal. Like they were complimenting him.
tommy cresta: I love... I'm a sucker for zombie movies.
Ryan: Mm
tommy cresta: But i I've never been scared of zombie movies. this
Ryan: hmm.
tommy cresta: these movies always kind of These movies have always given me some chills. I love just the...
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I love the red eye that they get. And just how quickly it turns and infects them.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, the speed of the infection is kind of, it's one of the cooler things about this universe of just like, you get a drop in and all of a sudden you're like, it's game on.
tommy cresta: It's over.
Ryan: You're going.
tommy cresta: So, i was... um I talked about that for everyone listening that I was down. I went down Georgia to see Sam and yeah, so we were getting ready to see and Sam hasn't seen either of the other twos, twos, the other two.
tommy cresta: So Sam was like, what do I need know?
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: i was like, okay, so these animal rights activists break into a lab,
Ryan: Mm-hmm. yeah These fucking morons let these monkeys go and ruin the world.
tommy cresta: let the monkeys go and ruin the world. And then, oh, me and Sam also watched the entire Mission Impossible franchise in a day and a half.
Ryan: That's pretty sweet.
tommy cresta: Yeah, and then ended the then we saw Final Reckoning at 9.20 at night.
Ryan: I like that.
Ryan: I still haven't seen Final Ruckin'. I still gotta to watch it.
tommy cresta: She loved it.
Ryan: Did she?
tommy cresta: Yeah. the I think it's my third favorite in the franchise.
Ryan: Okay.
tommy cresta: I think it's Fallout.
Ryan: What's your favorite? Fallout's the best.
tommy cresta: Unbelievable movie. And I love 3.
Ryan: Yeah, I know you love 3.
tommy cresta: I'm a sucker for those like early 2000s action movies.
Ryan: Mm-hmm. Good old JJ.
tommy cresta: Ugh. I'm mad at him now, but I explained, dude, Sam just had to sit there and listen to my film. Like I was explained like how they're using only the iPhones for 28 years later.
tommy cresta: And she was so invested, but she, she loved it.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: She was so scared.
Ryan: Is it iPhones the entire, like everything or just those sweeping, like the bullet time shots?
tommy cresta: No, the whole films on iPhones, which makes it even more crazy.
Ryan: The whole thing is? Okay.
tommy cresta: I, did you like that?
Ryan: Yeah, it's impressive.
tommy cresta: The, the way it would to do yeah, I thought it was really cool.
Ryan: Yeah, the bullet time stuff. I thought it was cool. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Cause it, I mean, Danny Boyle has always been very express ex but but experimental.
Ryan: Thank you.
tommy cresta: And I thought it was so cool for him. This isn't the first time he's done it, though. He filmed another movie on an iPhone. This was the first movie that you had iPhones also use IMAX format, which I don't know how you do that.
Ryan: Okay.
tommy cresta: But.
Ryan: I mean, I'm sure it's like, I'm sure it's like an iPhone, but you just put it on these crazy lenses lenses and stuff.
tommy cresta: Dude.
Ryan: It's, you know.
tommy cresta: the one thing was like as big as Danny Boyle. He was lay like standing behind.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I was like, where is he? And he like leaned out He's like, good guys. I was like, oh.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah. No, you're not you're not going to go out in your backyard and film something like this.
tommy cresta: And it's not going to look like this movie.
Ryan: That's not, no, not at all.
tommy cresta: He's also, i went looked at some of the movies. I always, I forgot them already. I had like a list of his movies. But before I do that, 28 years later, it's currently sitting at a 7.2 out of town IMDb, 89% critic score of Rotten Tomatoes with a 65% audience score.
Ryan: I mean,
tommy cresta: Which is really low, I think.
Ryan: I think it's a lot of because of the trailer.
tommy cresta: I'm in between, though.
Ryan: Yeah, so am I. I'm not I'm not as high on it as Nate and Puff both loved it. They both said like immediate nine out of 10 loved it. I think I'm at like an eight and a half. You know and i mean? Like it was it was very good and I really liked it.
Ryan: But there was just, you know, there's some stuff to be desired. I think ah I think it would have helped with a little bit more action. I like the family drama kind of story.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: But like, i I really like the story. I should say that. I thought it was it was very good. And Jodie Camare was fantastic, even though it's crazy. She's not in like any of the trailers, like she's barely in anything. And she's.
tommy cresta: And Aaron Taylor Johnson's in most of the trailers.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah.
tommy cresta: Great dad, terrible husband.
Ryan: And also, it makes no sense. but Yeah. No, awful husband. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Great dad, though. had I mean, talk about someone teaching his kids.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I did love that whole first act with him though when they're on the mainland.
Ryan: Oh, yeah.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I love those like bloated zombies.
Ryan: No, it was really cool.
tommy cresta: i I think it's just their design is like perfect. And doing the bullet shots was such a cool way to show like the arrow hitting and stuff like that.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: The infrared scenes were disgusting.
Ryan: Yeah.
Ryan: Yeah, it was really freaky. I didn't love the beginning when ah when they were marching over, when they were like intercutting with actual war footage.
tommy cresta: ah
Ryan: like I got it. I understood it.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: It was kind of like, you can be a little bit more subtle. I get it. You know what I mean? like You're just showing actual
tommy cresta: i did like this I did like hearing in the actual this the speech, though.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah.
tommy cresta: it It is such a terrifying speech.
Ryan: yeah
Ryan: It is. i wonder I wonder if there was a... yeah Both of us. where Why did we do that? It's my fault. we're start We started this in 9.15 at night.
tommy cresta: Oh, yeah, because they're not going to any different.
Ryan: We're both cooked.
tommy cresta: It's still going to post. Yeah, we're recording this on Tuesday. We normally record Monday around 5. It's 9.30 on a Tuesday because I didn't get home until 9 yesterday.
Ryan: Yeah, I'm done. Yeah. But I wonder if they added that after. and There's no reason for me to believe this other than just the popularity of it after that trailer came out. If they were like, let's just let's just put this in the movie.
tommy cresta: Yeah, i have I thought about the same thing.
Ryan: Why don't we just do this? you know I wonder if they did that, which would be hilarious.
tommy cresta: i I love the land bridge also. Because that is a real thing.
Ryan: Yeah, it's real.
tommy cresta: that There's places like that. um
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: But yeah, I really... The whole idea of them going to the island and having... i for i don't remember and well enough in 28 weeks later. Do they explain that they they save the world 28 weeks?
Ryan: How do you mean save the world?
tommy cresta: Like that it's only it's it's only in certain parts of the world that the infected happened.
Ryan: No. So it's, um, it was, so I watched 28 weeks later the night before I saw it. So it's the movie ends with the outbreak getting out. And there's like that little, there's like the last shot at the very end of just a bunch of infected running towards the Eiffel tower.
Ryan: And then it cuts. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: Um, which actually fun fact about them filming that they literally just, the director went to France and just hired like 10 French actors just for a day and just shot it in like three hours, just dressed them up and did it.
tommy cresta: That's Danny Boyle too, right?
Ryan: No, it wasn't Danny Boyle.
tommy cresta: Oh, Danny Boyle only did this one, the first one?
Ryan: Yeah, I believe so. I'm going to, I can double check, but yeah, I'm sure he had something to do with it, but it was, um, uh, Juan Carlos Fresnario.
tommy cresta: He probably produced the second one.
Ryan: Hope I said that right. But yeah. So I was I was curious of how they were going to do it. But then it's just the opening text. I'm just like, yeah, no, we're good. The rest of the world's fine.
Ryan: It's just Britain now, which hell yeah.
tommy cresta: It's just... God, that, i i never thought Brain could get worse, and it somehow did.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Um, but yeah, I, I really did enjoy myself.
Ryan: Mm hmm.
tommy cresta: i I got exactly what i wanted. i definitely, and I was waiting, I was waiting the entire movie. I'm like, how is Danny Boyle gonna make this weird? And right at the end, he comes swinging from the fences.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Um, but it's based off, like, a super, like, um,
Ryan: Oh yeah.
tommy cresta: Not charismatic. What's it like? Oh, a po this polarizing figure from Britain. That's what those guys are based off of.
Ryan: Okay.
tommy cresta: um But yeah, like it's like a whole thing. And of course, it's the little kid from the beginning.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah.
tommy cresta: And that hence why he has the upside down cross because it's dead. and
Ryan: Yeah, Jimmy. um
tommy cresta: Great opening too.
Ryan: Which also... Oh, yeah, another great opening. All those little kids getting ripped to shreds.
tommy cresta: ah I love it. Sam, Sam cried during this.
Ryan: During what? I guess the the mom?
tommy cresta: 28 years later? with the yeah With the mom. Dude, was not expecting for it to get super like emotional.
Ryan: Okay.
Ryan: I know. Yeah.
tommy cresta: It just became... It lay like flipped on like a switch.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: um was it really It was a really good scene.
Ryan: No, I thought it was really good.
tommy cresta: And I like... And me and Sam were both like, come on, how did Ralph Fiennes get up there and build these pyramids of skull? And then they later show you exactly how it happened. And I was like, oh, well, makes sense.
Ryan: He just climbs.
tommy cresta: Yeah, he just climbs it. He sets up these... The poles.
Ryan: ah hu Yeah, no, I like the Ralph Fiennes character a lot, Dr.
tommy cresta: But.
Ryan: Kelson. it was I was expecting him to be more weird, but I think it's it's less so that, like, I think he's just been alone for so long that he's like, yeah, this is normal, you know, and then somebody comes, he's like, hello.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: It was so funny.
tommy cresta: Dude, when he explains why he's covering himself in the iodine, and then when he goes up the thing he just washes his hands with it, must have been having a blast.
Ryan: but
Ryan: Iodine, I think it was.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: And I don't even think he's crazy. He was just doing what he thought was right, and he was just giving these people a proper burial.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: It's just when you are are on...
Ryan: Yeah. It's a weird way to do it. I wouldn't say proper Barry.
tommy cresta: It's a weird way to do it.
Ryan: He wasn't Barry and shit. He was burning them. But, you know, it's...
tommy cresta: It was probably easier, though.
Ryan: Oh yeah, no, for sure.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: But you kind of, you understand he was just doing what he thought, like you said, what he thought was the right thing. He just happens to be a little, a little kooky, but that's understandable if you're alone for, you know, 28 years.
tommy cresta: Yeah. And then what...
Ryan: ah but It's only the infected around him.
tommy cresta: What's the next one called?
Ryan: ah The Bone Temple.
tommy cresta: So it's going to have... is it going to have to do with that mask that that girl was wearing? Is that like a cold or something? i'm so That's the one thing...
Ryan: I don't know. Well, that was the island. Yeah.
Ryan: that was That was them on the island.
tommy cresta: Yeah, I know. I wasn't sure where...
Ryan: That was...
tommy cresta: Why is she wear that mask?
Ryan: That was the mask... Well, I don't know. It could be some... i don't know, just a little cultural thing that they've done.
tommy cresta: Because she was weird. She just didn't do anything. She just stood there and looked creepy as hell.
Ryan: Yeah. But they were also the mask that those kids were using for target practice.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: Those little cutaways. So...
tommy cresta: So I didn't know if that was like how like they showed the kids what the creature could look like. But...
Ryan: I don't know. It could just be like a little thing. But I did... I thought it was going to be more important because it is a shot in the trailer that you kind of see of like all these people in mask and you hear about, you know, people in the mainland.
Ryan: And then when they're on the island or when they're on the mainland, it's cutting between that. And then you realize that, oh, no, that's just the island that they live on. So, you know, so i don't know what that's going to be, if that's going to be like.
Ryan: Maybe some special, quote-unquote, special unit they have to go in and fight. If other people from the mainland try to attack them, they're like the people who can fight back the hardest. I don't know. Making shit up. But I don't know if that's going to be an actual thing or if it's just a little, you know, something that looks cool.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: Which I wouldn't blame Danny Boyle for just throwing something to be like, this is a cool thing, right?
tommy cresta: damn him Yeah.
Ryan: You guys want to buy this mask?
tommy cresta: He's like, this looks cool.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah,
tommy cresta: Some marketing. um So what did you say? 8.5. So what? 85. I
Ryan: Yeah, I think 85 works for this.
tommy cresta: gave it an 86. So we're right about the same again.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: What did give How to Train Your Dragon?
Ryan: I It's a kids movie. It's the same movie. It's good. It was fun.
tommy cresta: Oh. Oh. Oh, but when i when I say that about Super Mario Bros., I'm the bad guy.
Ryan: You said Super Mario Bros. was bad. You didn't say, oh, it's a kids movie.
tommy cresta: Yeah, i also but I ah said that not knowing anything about Mario, so it didn't like... None of it like...
Ryan: Yeah, you've never played Mario. It doesn't make any sense.
tommy cresta: Dude, i all the only game I played when i was little was Madden and MLB The Show.
Ryan: You never had any, any sort of Nintendo thing ever. No Wii, no DS, no...
tommy cresta: I had a PlayStation 2, then I had an Xbox, and then I had an Xbox One, then a PS5.
Ryan: Wow.
tommy cresta: I was always a console guy. I never had games on my phone, really. I never had laptops.
Ryan: Well, yeah, but I mean, Wii GameCube is a console.
tommy cresta: Yeah, I always thought it was like weird people playing
Ryan: Wii rules. let's Let's make that clear.
tommy cresta: those. Like, I was jealous of the Wii once I actually got to play the Wii.
Ryan: Wii is incredible. yeah
tommy cresta: The Wii was, because i I think I associated people that like Bakugan and Pokemon. and
Ryan: Fuck off. Bakugan ruled, dude.
tommy cresta: Oh, I bought, i had I had them.
Ryan: You'd roll him out? Hell yeah.
tommy cresta: I got them. I had a whole steel like travel case of them.
Ryan: Yeah, Bakugan was awesome.
Ryan: I had a case. I don't know where that thing is.
tommy cresta: Like Beyblade. Like I thought to me those were like nerds.
Ryan: Beyblades were badass. Yeah, they are nerds, but what's wrong with that, Tommy?
tommy cresta: Nothing.
Ryan: hear the biggest yeah You're the biggest fucking dork I know.
tommy cresta: I'm a nerd.
Ryan: Are
tommy cresta: I'm wearing a Phillies hat and a Phillies jersey.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: For the podcast right now. And I have an entire basement of movies.
Ryan: you kidding me? You're in your fucking basement and you're like, I'm on the team, dude. They need me. I need to dress up.
tommy cresta: You're wearing a always have the buttons buttons.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, I'm not buttoned up. You have all the buttons up. You have the top button buttoned. It's ridiculous.
tommy cresta: Um, yeah.
Ryan: Houston got a hit. Damn it.
tommy cresta: Yeah. Uh, but yeah, 20. This, I was surprised with how much I ended, because I got a little nervous when I saw how high the ratings were, because i feel like horror movies sometimes, horror movies, this is, this is a zombie movie more than it a horror movie.
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: But, ah you, i always get a little nervous. I know it's like in the same genre, but.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: I always get little nervous. I'm like, oh, if it's this high, I'm probably not going to like, like, because I feel like there's like that high class horror that everyone talks about. And I was waiting for it to be something like that. And it wasn't. It was really enjoyable.
tommy cresta: eve I mean, because I feel like Sam's Sam likes film more than like the average person. But she's like, I feel like she's a good person, like uses like the average for like people I talk to. And she loved it.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I mean, she was so excited that they're making two more.
Ryan: Good. Yeah.
tommy cresta: And
Ryan: I was surprised that Nate and puff liked it so much. Cause Nate, Nate literally asked me before uh, we saw it. He was like, is this like a chill, like fun zombie movie? I was like, yeah, yeah, for sure. These are nice, slow, easy zombies, you know, just lied to them.
tommy cresta: These things should just butt ass an ass.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Oh
Ryan: Yeah. And puff actually really puff like the movies before. So he was excited to see it.
tommy cresta: yeah, because he likes the other ones, right?
Ryan: Um, Yeah, that was like, yeah, he said, well, he said he did. And then the next day he was like, oh, yeah, I never saw him before. I watched him at work. I was like, you said you saw him. He's like, I thought I did. I don't know what I watched.
Ryan: I was like, what?
tommy cresta: If I watch World War he's like, where's Brad Pitt?
Ryan: God knows what he actually watched, but he thought he watched the movies.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Underrated movie.
Ryan: Books better.
tommy cresta: and Oh, way better.
Ryan: Wait, it's cooler.
tommy cresta: and It also has nothing to do with the movie. It nothing like it.
Ryan: Yeah, no, the movie is just, they just took the title and were like, this is the this is the story now.
tommy cresta: And Brad Pitt's going to do it.
Ryan: Okay. It's Brad Pitt now.
tommy cresta: And then the sequel's going be directed by David Fincher.
Ryan: Are they still trying to and do a sequel?
tommy cresta: No.
Ryan: Yeah, I didn't think so.
tommy cresta: I am excited to see Cillian Murphy come back. Because and it is confirmed he's in the second one.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: And then if they make the third one. Because they still haven't gotten it done yet.
Ryan: Yeah, I'm sure they will.
tommy cresta: The second one's already filmed. They filmed them back to back.
Ryan: Mm-hmm. Yeah, they said, Danny Boyle said, I saw in a quick interview, he said that um Killian Murphy is like briefly in the second one, and then the third one is like his movie again.
tommy cresta: Yeah, because he said he's like, <unk> like how can I not bring him back?
Ryan: So...
tommy cresta: I needed somehow to get money. If I say Kelly Murphy's in, I'll get all the money I need.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: But yeah, for anyone who doesn't, like how we we keep talking about the iPhone and stuff like that. If you want to see what we're talking about go look it up on Instagram, YouTube, Google, and you'll it'll show you. It's laid like a rig. I think it's 17 iPhones.
tommy cresta: But it's just a long like thing. The two guys just hold it and walk with it. It is really cool.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: and
Ryan: I mean, it's the bullet time thing from the Matrix. You just line up a shit ton of cameras and just go shot by shot in a row.
tommy cresta: Yeah. I like the – and I love the sound of this movie. Like the sound design, the score.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: But again, any if anyone watches Danny Boyle movies, which I'm going to, this is now why I'm going to have these movies up. Where'd we go? I lost the thing I was looking at
Ryan: That sucks.
tommy cresta: Shit.
tommy cresta: Sorry, everyone. But yeah, he's done Trainspotting. He did Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, The The isn't very good speech isn't a very good
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: But if you guys are looking for a bad Leonardo DiCaprio movie that's, I mean, weird, weird, that I actually, I have like a soft spot it because it was one of the first rated R movies that I watched. Dude, it was always on HBO at like 7 in the morning.
tommy cresta: I tell you no, it's never a good movie.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: it's on If it's on HBO in the morning, it tends not to be good.
Ryan: That's true.
tommy cresta: um Oh, he directed yesterday.
Ryan: Yeah, you did. You love that movie.
tommy cresta: Which, I do love that movie. I, So I i definitely am on the side of liking Danny Boyle. And a lot of people, I mean, because he is a polarizing director.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: People love him, hate him. He also directed the Steve Jobs movie.
Ryan: Yeah. Well, which one?
tommy cresta: ah
Ryan: Fazzbanner or so which one?
tommy cresta: I think it's the Fazzbender one. Yep, Fazzbender one.
Ryan: Gotcha.
tommy cresta: The better one.
Ryan: Yeah, because there was the Ashton Kuchar one.
tommy cresta: Not as good.
Ryan: This is like, weren't they the same year too? It's crazy.
tommy cresta: Yep.
tommy cresta: Weird.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: But where you um where do you think they go with this next movie? Do you think Aaron Taylor Johnson in it?
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Because the way he talked, it didn't sound like he did interview and he said he pointed to the case like, yeah, he filmed the second one.
Ryan: No, I think.
tommy cresta: So I was like, is he not in this one as much?
Ryan: I mean, maybe not as much, but I figured it would be him, you know, tracking down, trying to find his son. Or maybe he's not in it because the, you know, the the rule in the beginning is if you come back, we'll let you back in. But if you don't come back, we're not sending anybody to go after you.
Ryan: I assume Aaron Taylor Johnson is going to try to break that rule, at least try. But whether he actually does it or is allowed to do it, but you know, we'll see. But.
Ryan: I assume that he's going to be in it trying to, trying to get his son back. But if not, then, you know, it'll be, it'll be interesting to see why. Cause it, it won't be, it'll be them like holding him back or like preventing him from going.
Ryan: I don't think it would just be him like giving up being like, Oh, well spike will figure it out, whatever. So yeah, don't know.
tommy cresta: But yeah, i I'm excited to see where they go with the second one. Because I want to know where the story is going to go. Is it just going to be Spike just kind of going off? Because he just wants to see.
Ryan: Yeah. i mean, yeah. I mean, you get Jack... um What's his name?
tommy cresta: Jack O'Connell.
Ryan: Jack O'Connell.
tommy cresta: First off, perfect casting for to for this character.
Ryan: I'm sure...
Ryan: oh yeah. The the fact he got third credit, though. The credits rolled. I was like, the motherfucker got third credit? He's in two minutes. But, yeah.
tommy cresta: He's Jack O'Connell.
Ryan: Sinners came out, and they were like, we gotta pay this man so much money now. God damn it.
tommy cresta: I think he's going to big role in the second one.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: that i mean, yeah, because he's going to, they're going to be traveling together.
Ryan: i think I think it's gonna be... Yeah, I think it's going be Spike kind of like exploring, finding different groups. i think he's going to run with those guys for a little bit and then maybe find somebody else.
tommy cresta: And what do you think at the end, he runs into Killian Murphy?
Ryan: Yeah, maybe or just like on the way because they said Killian's not going to be in it much in the second one.
tommy cresta: Yeah, so that's why I'm maybe thinking like maybe at the end, that's when he runs into him.
Ryan: So we'll see how much.
Ryan: Maybe in the end or maybe.
tommy cresta: And then maybe they're together for like the rest of the next movie.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Because assuming this kid's going the main character of the Still the Hole.
Ryan: Yeah, I assume so. Or he gets fucking torn to shreds in the first like 10 minutes.
tommy cresta: Can you imagine? just
Ryan: That'd be something. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Just gets ripped apart.
Ryan: It'd be great.
tommy cresta: Oh, I love this movie. I love the CGI deer stampede. know
Ryan: It looked, when it was far away, it looked fine. When it was, when they had that like closer shot, it looked awful.
tommy cresta: It was terrible. Because this doesn't have a big budget, though.
Ryan: No. And then the effects are all practical.
tommy cresta: want
Ryan: Like all the zombies and stuff. It's all, you know, looks great because it's real. So the deer did not look good.
tommy cresta: And... Yeah, the deer did not know... How much... What do you think the budget is?
Ryan: I don't know. I might i might say like 50 on a high end, honestly. 75. Wow.
tommy cresta: seventy five
Ryan: Damn. oh
tommy cresta: Yeah, the whole film is shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Ryan: they
tommy cresta: That is... Danny Boy, you are awesome. Alex Garland also... I love, love you. I'm so happy they're continuing directing. Because what, his next thing's Elden Ring, isn't it?
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: That's a wild game to add ah to an adaptation on.
Ryan: How the fuck?
Ryan: Yeah, that's I never played it because I, you know, I prefer not destroying things, but I don't.
tommy cresta: Yeah, unlike me.
Ryan: Yeah. Well, you tried it, didn't you? Not you didn't beat the first boss. You just gave up.
tommy cresta: No, i i've because I was like, I'm going punch a hole through my wall.
Ryan: Right.
tommy cresta: i I was like, I don't like that.
Ryan: Mm
tommy cresta: Because I don't like that being that mad at games. Games are supposed to be like fun.
Ryan: hmm.
tommy cresta: like there's like There's that feeling like every gamer has done with like sitting back and they're like, that's fine.
Ryan: Yeah, that deep breath.
tommy cresta: It's where I was sitting there holding, like putting down my control. and like, I'm later going to walk up to this TV and just punch a hole through it. like There's not gonna be anything left.
Ryan: Yeah, no, I don't like that stuff.
tommy cresta: Yeah, that's not for me.
Ryan: and I've never played any like Souls game or or anything like that. so
tommy cresta: All those games are so hard.
Ryan: It's not my thing. I'm like you. I like having fun. Dude, i've been playing a lot of, what's it called? The Hell Let Loose that I keep telling you to get. It's so much fun.
tommy cresta: I do have to get it
Ryan: It's so satisfying when you kill somebody. You just see the pink mist and you're like, oh, I got him. Hell yeah. Dude, the best, because there's no there's no hit markers. there's no like You don't know if you killed somebody until you see their body on the ground.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: I just lined up a shot with an MP40 from 50 yards away. yes pink You just hear the ping of it hitting the helmet. The helmet went flying. i was like, let's fucking go. Let's go.
tommy cresta: I, no.
Ryan: The Nazis are winning today, baby. Let's go. It's
tommy cresta: I do have to get it. We also have to play, what's called?
Ryan: very fun.
tommy cresta: ah Way Out.
Ryan: Yeah, we do have to keep playing that.
tommy cresta: Thank you for having to watch that. It did very well on YouTube. It did very well on Twitch as well.
Ryan: Yeah. play it against him. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Very fun game. Me and Ryan were just giggling and saying stupid shit for an hour and a half.
Ryan: Yeah,
tommy cresta: Went way over the time that we sat.
Ryan: yeah, yeah. Do you think there's going to be any nudity in this game? Oh!
tommy cresta: Looking like Solomon.
Ryan: No, he did not, respectfully.
tommy cresta: That's you.
Ryan: He was not packing like that. Yeah, no, that's way closer to me than Solomon.
tommy cresta: No. Yo,
Ryan: Yeah. I have no shame in saying I'm not fucking that guy. whoever Who played Solomon?
tommy cresta: shout out to that guy. But I like how they they explain that it's like a steroid.
Ryan: ah
tommy cresta: It makes you stronger.
Ryan: Chai Lewis. chi i don't know if it's Chi or Chai, but I'll say Chi Lewis Perry. Congrats, man. Congratulations. That's incredible.
tommy cresta: Or he's wearing a prosthetic.
Ryan: Maybe. Maybe.
tommy cresta: That butt.
Ryan: Wait, hold on
tommy cresta: Oh.
Ryan: It was a prosthetic. Oh my God.
tommy cresta: It was?
Ryan: It was. I clicked on the first ah like news link is, um, talked about a huge prosthetic. Samson's huge. It's Samson, not Solomon. We keep saying Solomon.
tommy cresta: am I saying Solomon?
Ryan: Samson. I don't know. Samson. Huge prosthetic, ripping out spines and scary injury on the train. Huh?
tommy cresta: Also, I love the ripping the spine out.
Ryan: Oh, yeah, super cool.
tommy cresta: Very satisfying for like for what it is.
Ryan: Yeah. And it makes sense. Yeah. And it's what... Because they said Garland and ah and Danny Boyle said, like, they kind of based this off of nature, where, like, eventually there will be the biggest one and it'll become the alpha.
Ryan: And I think that also makes sense, the ripping the spine out. It's like a showing, you know, show a force to the other ones.
tommy cresta: How strong it is.
Ryan: Like, I'm fucking, I'll do this to anybody right now. Don't fuck with me You know what i mean?
tommy cresta: Do you think they kill each other ever?
Ryan: So... I'm sure they do.
tommy cresta: The zombies? i was well I was thinking about that.
Ryan: Yeah, i mean mate I mean, it's definitely possible that one of them, like if one of them steps down a line and the alpha has to go over there and just rip him.
tommy cresta: Yeah, like the alpha kills it.
Ryan: Yeah, I think that would, I could see that happening for sure.
tommy cresta: So I wonder what...
Ryan: Because there is definitely like, ah very animalistic and very like primal, but there is obviously some form of like, you know, hierarchy.
tommy cresta: i
Ryan: Obviously there's the the alpha.
tommy cresta: Yeah, because they he can like send them to do things.
Ryan: Yeah, and he also got the one pregnant. So definitely like,
tommy cresta: Okay, did he get that one? Did he do that? Or or did some normal guy get very horny?
Ryan: Well, I don't think that guy would have survived. Because it would have it would have acted like... i mean, it probably would have acted like an STD. Got him infected immediately.
tommy cresta: That's what i'm saying. Maybe that's what happened.
Ryan: Because it's any... No, I doubt it. Because, i mean, we talked about the speed of the infection.
tommy cresta: Oh yeah, I guess you win.
Ryan: You know what I'm trying to say?
tommy cresta: It's been a while probably for most of them.
Ryan: You wouldn't have the time. Probably, but I mean, it's like, you're done. you know what I mean? That would be impressive. No, I think... I assume it was... a so I keep trying to say Solomon. Samson.
Ryan: Who the fuck is Solomon?
tommy cresta: Samson. and
Ryan: don't know where I'm getting Solomon from.
tommy cresta: Salmon Grundy.
Ryan: Solomon Grandi. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Dude, i was so I was trying to get a head and like write down the movies that we have coming up for like the movies of the year. You got Superman, F1, Jurassic World, Fantastic Four, Eddington, Magazine Dreams. Well, I watched Magazine Dreams.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: um
Ryan: My parents saw Magazine Dreams.
tommy cresta: Wild movie.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I'll get into that one more.
Ryan: Yeah. My parents also saw Jurassic World last night. It was the mystery movie.
tommy cresta: Is that what the movie was? ah I wanted to go see it, but I got home too late.
Ryan: Yeah.
Ryan: Hmm.
tommy cresta: Did I like it?
Ryan: Yeah. ah My mom liked it, but she likes everything. And I didn't talk to my dad about it yet.
tommy cresta: Your mom loves disaster kind of stuff, though. Like dinosaurs, disaster.
Ryan: Oh, loves it. Yeah. It's her favorite thing.
tommy cresta: It's big mom genre, I feel like.
Ryan: She's... Uh-huh. She gets back... Every single movie she gets back, she's like, it was it was entertaining. It was an entertaining time. I'm like, okay, but was it good? She's like, it was entertaining.
tommy cresta: That's my dad. My dad's... Because my dad... some he said so because He said Sinners is a 60. And then came back.
Ryan: Which is crazy.
tommy cresta: And he was like... He's like, Ballerina's like an 80. was like, there's no way you watch Sinners.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: You get for that a 60. ah you
Ryan: That's...
tommy cresta: Sinners... Sinners is, I think, my number two movie of the year.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Probably number two.
Ryan: And even, I don't think I think both of us didn't like Sinners as much as like a majority of people did.
tommy cresta: Yeah, like we're...
Ryan: But it was still a great fucking move.
tommy cresta: Yeah, because me and you aren't also... I feel like we're not... We tend to not fully go on the side of film talk people. Like film content people.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: We don't tend to like... Love the movies that every one of those and them love. and But we also, i feel like, don't fall like in the old school way. I feel like we find our own little niche rating for movies.
tommy cresta: Because there's not a lot of time we agree with ah ah lot of people
Ryan: Yeah, no, we're different. We're special.
tommy cresta: We're special.
Ryan: We're special little guys.
tommy cresta: I was waiting for a comment.
Ryan: Special.
tommy cresta: Oh, I won the 94.1 concert tickets today.
Ryan: Really? What concert?
tommy cresta: Yeah. ah Bare Naked Ladies.
Ryan: Shit. Nice.
tommy cresta: I called in. Called in three times in the last week.
Ryan: Nice.
tommy cresta: Hugh Douglas remembered me.
Ryan: I haven't listened to WIP.
tommy cresta: it was pretty cool.
Ryan: ready It's pretty cool.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: What was the?
tommy cresta: He asked if my girlfriend broke up with me. I was like, no, I'm actually in her apartment in Georgia. He's like, Georgia? He's like, it's hot as shit in Georgia. I was like, yes, it is here.
Ryan: It is.
tommy cresta: Was it?
Ryan: What was the, was it like a question yet answer? What was it?
tommy cresta: It was ah Kyle Schwartz hit a bomb, foul. um It was named a weird duo. Like a duo that the doesn't seem to match up. And people would like anything.
Ryan: Like sports or anything?
tommy cresta: And people were like Muggsy Bogues and Manute Bull. And I was like, i was like, nah, I was like, Dennis Rodman and King John. o And they're like, that's a great answer.
tommy cresta: i was like that And then like two hours later, they called me and like, you won?
Ryan: That's a great answer.
tommy cresta: i was like, oh, shit, really?
Ryan: Nice.
tommy cresta: so I got them for my parents. The only reason I did it was because I knew my mom and dad really liked them.
Ryan: Yeah. feel like Barenaked Ladies is not like a... Sam, you want to go see Barenaked Ladies?
tommy cresta: I do love the Barenaked Lace, but I only like, like, I don't like them enough to go see them in concert, don't think, because they they play, like, 30 songs.
Ryan: Who the fuck are they? I like a couple of songs.
Ryan: Yeah, no. I don't care about that.
tommy cresta: i probably like five songs.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense.
tommy cresta: Those five songs are all in my top, like, 50 songs of all time.
Ryan: Yeah, great band. Great band.
tommy cresta: Oh, ground out.
Ryan: Phenomenal.
tommy cresta: um Do you have anything else you want to add on 28 Years Later? i feel like we talked about, like, it's, because a lot of the stuff, what I'm going to, I'll finish off my, What I have to say about really quick?
tommy cresta: The baby, we're going to learn more about that. So yeah, Aaron Tyler Johnson, that was actually a stupid thing for me to say earlier. Of course, going to see more him because we have to know more about the baby. Like, how does that work?
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: um It's to be cool seeing where Jimmy and Spike get into and where the story leads into setting up this third film in the trilogy. But I think it was better than I think anyone expected it to be when they announced it.
Ryan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: And I was very much satisfied leaving the theater. Like I didn't feel like disappointed in any capacity. It was so cool. I think the visuals of this movie are stunning.
tommy cresta: Performance is great. The kid who plays Spike. We just talked about how great he was. And yeah, I think, i think the movie was really good. So 86, I think it's a good score. I'll put it right.
tommy cresta: It's in that top echelon of movies so far. And I think it'll probably, it's one of those movies that I know by the end, I'm to be like, is this my seventh favorite movie of the year? Or is this just outside my top 10?
Ryan: Yeah.
Ryan: Yeah, I can see that for sure. I thought it was a really, really good movie. I had a lot of fun watching it. I'm trying to think because you said a lot of the things I was going to say.
tommy cresta: Sorry.
Ryan: Again, yeah, Alfie Williams. I looked up. He has like two credits on I think it was his Dark Materials and something else. But that's it. Like two credits.
tommy cresta: His dark materials.
Ryan: And I'm sure it was just like a little thing. I think it's a Netflix show, isn't it?
tommy cresta: Hmm.
Ryan: I don't know. I don't remember. I think people say it's good, though.
tommy cresta: Hmm.
Ryan: I've heard of it.
tommy cresta: Well, he's great.
Ryan: i I know I've heard of it. Yeah.
tommy cresta: Danny Boyle has the...
Ryan: His dark materials.
tommy cresta: just he He has very strong visions on what he wants. Like, he knows, I feel like... Him and Alex Garland, I feel like when they're writing, they can fully see exactly what they want.
Ryan: Yeah, they're freaking weird enough to be like, just hallucinate like, oh, yeah, that looks good.
tommy cresta: Which is very... They're very...
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, no.
tommy cresta: And like, but they both see it. Like, it's not one of the...
Ryan: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
tommy cresta: They're like, yup, that's it.
Ryan: Yep, that's the one. Yeah, shift the camera over like a foot. Perfect. That looks really good. Just staring at a fucking wall. Yeah, no, they're both absolute freaks, and that's why the movie's so good.
tommy cresta: be a little bit weird to want to make this movie.
Ryan: Yeah. I feel like Ralph Fiennes is a secret, just freak show. Because that dude is, I mean, he's a phenomenal actor. And seems very chill when he does interviews and stuff. He seems like a pretty chill dude.
Ryan: But if you're doing that much weird shit and you're that good at acting, there's got to be a piece of you that's like, um like I'm going to kill a motherfucker tonight.
tommy cresta: Yeah, what what was the movie he did a couple months ago?
Ryan: Like there's...
tommy cresta: he got in great shape?
Ryan: Yeah, yeah.
tommy cresta: He's playing Odysseus.
Ryan: What was that?
tommy cresta: It's pretty much another version of the book.
Ryan: Yeah, forget.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, I forget what it is. But you're right.
tommy cresta: Oh my god.
Ryan: But I mean, like, Voldemort. And then he does doesn does fucking Conclave, the Menu. mean, those are the recent ones. But back in the day, Red Dragon. He was the Red Dragon.
tommy cresta: Fuck, he is the right... Oh my god.
Ryan: Yeah. And then get, like, Grand Budapest Hotel, where he's just a little weirdo again.
tommy cresta: I didn't remember that.
Ryan: And then he's in Prince of Egypt?
tommy cresta: Ooh, I was about to say The Menu's is my favorite but role he's in.
Ryan: In Bruges?
tommy cresta: But I think it's Grand Budapest.
Ryan: Grand Budapest is phenomenal.
tommy cresta: First, Grand Budapest, top 30 movies for me. Because don't think it's top 25.
Ryan: It's a good movie.
tommy cresta: I'm going to say it's like that in that five other movie range.
Ryan: Yeah. Oh, Bone Temple comes out in January. I thought it was next summer.
tommy cresta: Oh, no, they filmed it back-to-back.
Ryan: Yeah, no, I know they filmed it back to back.
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: I just thought it was, I didn't know it was coming out that soon.
tommy cresta: two big movies Two big franchises did back-to-backs.
Ryan: Hell yeah.
tommy cresta: Wicked and this film did back-to-back. feel like you don't see many movies do that anymore.
Ryan: Yeah, not a ton. It's really just a big one because it's so much fucking money. like It's not yeah i mean like Marvel, maybe Star Wars would do that if they actually...
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: If Star Wars ever planned out some movies, maybe they would do that, but they don't they don't really feel like doing that, I guess, most of the time. So, you know, you get left with some wacky shit, two different directors.
Ryan: God damn it. It's so stupid.
tommy cresta: that That was a shit shit.
Ryan: It's so dumb.
tommy cresta: I would have rather seen... I say this. I say I would rather have seen the Lucas... ah George Lucas franchise. The sequels.
Ryan: I'm sure they would have been shit too.
tommy cresta: Yeah, but... they Well, you can read them. They're just on the internet now.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Like... They still get fucking wonky, wonky, wonky in the end.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: But... Yeah, 28 years later.
Ryan: George Lucas is the best.
tommy cresta: Two thumbs up.
Ryan: George Lucas is one of the best creative minds in film.
tommy cresta: yeah not a Not a perfect director.
Ryan: He's a dog shit writer and not a great director.
tommy cresta: Yeah, he's great he's a great creator of something. like he can Again, he can visualize things.
Ryan: Yeah. No, he's he's an ideas man. Indiana Jones. Perfect. like Perfect fucking point on this. He's like, Steven, I got there's this guy. He's really cool. And Spielberg's like, all right, give me the idea.
Ryan: I'm going to make the best fucking movie you've ever seen.
tommy cresta: He's like, you want to produce and make a shit ton of money?
Ryan: He's like, right, cool. Yeah. I will say, though, George Lucas, genius for taking all of the merchandise money. gets like but He gets like 90% of it, some crazy margin.
tommy cresta: Do he gets paid a lot of money for Spaceballs?
Ryan: That's why Disney sells. Does he?
tommy cresta: Yeah, they, they, the, uh, I always to say Mel Gibson.
Ryan: bet he does.
tommy cresta: That's not his name.
Ryan: No.
tommy cresta: me Mel, Mel Brooks.
Ryan: Mel Brooks.
tommy cresta: Mel Brooks went to him and was like, what can I do?
Ryan: Okay.
tommy cresta: He's like, you can't have any merchandise, like actual merchandise. that's why you've seen Spaceballs, right? You know the scene when they like, they show off their like merchandise store.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: That's because he wasn't allowed to have actual merchandise. So that joke was put in because of that in the deal.
Ryan: yeah i bet i bet george lucas loves space balls too he's probably a huge fan yeah he seems like a guy who would just laugh at that is he that's awesome
tommy cresta: And he... Oh, he loves it. Oh, he... Supposedly, he's having something to do with the new one. Yeah. Dude, you know he's gonna get some... I bet you, within the next five years, he gets... He works on a Star Wars project.
tommy cresta: I think he's gonna...
Ryan: I mean, he probably will soon.
tommy cresta: He's gonna... He sold it for all that money, and they're just gonna give it... right He's gonna get it back somehow.
Ryan: i don't know.
tommy cresta: he should I think he he should get...
Ryan: I don't know going to get the whole thing back, but yeah, and know what you're saying though.
tommy cresta: Not all of it. Like, he's not gonna be... No.
Ryan: He's going to get some creative control again. But even, I mean, Filoni was kind of his like right-hand man with Clone Wars. Because that was like that was just before Disney bought it.
tommy cresta: Wait. Does George Lucas work on Clone Wars?
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Oh, shit. In my head, that's like after he did anything.
Ryan: Cartoon Network.
Ryan: No, he he worked on it I mean, it was Filoni's thing, but Lucas still had a say in stuff. Yeah.
tommy cresta: I saw a take today. I truly agree that Dave Filoni is not the person to carry Star Wars forward.
Ryan: No. I think he works for some of the animated stuff.
tommy cresta: i I think he's too...
Ryan: He's too simple. He's too, like, he doesn't take enough chances. It's the same kind of thing you know that you're getting.
tommy cresta: Yeah, he's stuck on that era of Star Wars, too. I want to see more.
Ryan: Yeah. Well, yeah. I can understand that.
tommy cresta: Well, because Anakin's coming back. And I'm, don't get wrong, I love seeing Hancock. Anakin, I love seeing. I am wondering how, what, what do you think we're going to see? just i guess just there's going to be more flashbacks in Ahsoka, because Ewan McGregor is in Ahsoka.
Ryan: I mean, I guess so. It's going to be... i wonder if it's going to end the same way.
tommy cresta: Story needs to move forward.
Ryan: Yeah, not, you know, side by side. It's, you know it needs to go somewhere.
tommy cresta: staying in this little space.
Ryan: way
tommy cresta: Look at The Last of us Season 2.
Ryan: Not just swap.
tommy cresta: Didn't go I was just about to say I haven't fully come to the side that Season 2 is a bad season of television.
Ryan: It didn't go anywhere. I mean, it barely did move. It's bad. Yeah.
tommy cresta: I have come to the side that it is a very mediocre season of television.
Ryan: Yeah. I think...
tommy cresta: Because I still love Episode 2.
Ryan: I was thinking about it.
tommy cresta: And I love a couple of the episode episodes in the season.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: It's just that the season itself doesn't what we just said. It lead goes like this the whole season.
Ryan: It does, like... Just doesn't move enough forward. But I was thinking the other day. I think Last of Us Season 2 and Ahsoka Season 1 are pretty comparable. Because you said, it's like, there's a great episode. Well, I know you love the episode in Ahsoka. I was like, whatever.
Ryan: It's fine. Okay.
tommy cresta: That's an awesome episode.
Ryan: Yeah, sure. doesn't make the season good. You know what I mean?
tommy cresta: No, I have been very vocal of my disappointment in Ahsoka.
Ryan: Because you said...
tommy cresta: We spoke about this Oh.
Ryan: I'm talking about Last of Us now. ah we We brought this up. it was like I was like, Last of Us season two is bad. You were like, how could it be bad if it was a great episode? And then I thought about it more.
tommy cresta: That was a bad take.
Ryan: I was like, Ahsoka, bad season, has a good episode.
tommy cresta: That was a bad take. Thank God that was that was off the podcast we did this discussion too.
Ryan: Yeah. You were like, how could it, it was a great episode.
tommy cresta: Where were we?
Ryan: You're probably sitting right where you're sitting right now.
tommy cresta: we are stupidass um We have I'm assuming people are like, oh, did they talk about the movies like when they're doing the fight?
Ryan: And I was like, you're dumbass.
tommy cresta: This is what we talk about all the time.
Ryan: This is it. Yeah, this is this is all we do.
tommy cresta: This is pretty much why there' this. And then just mixing Phillies and sports.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: ah It's also us arguing most of the time about that.
Ryan: And
tommy cresta: But, um, yeah, 28 years later, two thumbs up.
Ryan: then somebody pulls out a sword and yeah shit gets hectic.
tommy cresta: Oh, yeah. Where is it?
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Damn, did I lose the sword again?
Ryan: Don't tell me you lost the sword again.
tommy cresta: Dude, how do I lose a sword?
Ryan: It's a big sword.
tommy cresta: Yeah, that's what I was going to grab it.
Ryan: How
tommy cresta: Where the fuck is it?
Ryan: do you...
tommy cresta: But, quick thing about Magazine Dreams. So, I was going to watch it, but then, like,
Ryan: Hmm.
tommy cresta: I was sad I had to go home from Georgia, of course. And i was like i don't I was like, I don't want to be sad. And I know if I watch this sad movie, I'm going want to cry. was like, no. I was like, I'll watch Andor. Download three episodes of Andor.
tommy cresta: Got on the plane.
Ryan: Hell yeah.
tommy cresta: None of them downloaded.
Ryan: Oh,
tommy cresta: So then I was like, fuck, I got to watch Magazine Dreams.
Ryan: God damn it.
tommy cresta: Dude, I'm watching. I got so in. I texted you. You never answered me. Asshole.
Ryan: Oh yeah. I read them and I was like, yeah. All right, cool. Just put my phone back down that you sent me one of those texts. That's just like a statement. And I'm like, I don't i don't know how to respond to this. I just didn't.
tommy cresta: I thought you were – that's pretty much what I did.
Ryan: Cause you, you just sent me a review. What do you want me to Just be like, nice.
tommy cresta: I didn't really – that's what I – that's because feel like we both have done that where we just send each other a quick like, this is what I thought about this movie I watched today.
Ryan: Okay.
Ryan: Yeah. Like, yeah.
tommy cresta: And it's always a movie we won't really talk about. But, yeah, Magazine Dreams, Jonathan Majors, not saying he's a good person, not saying what he did was right, anything like that.
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: His performance is amazing. Like, the role, the character was great. Score, sound design, perfect. Might be my favorite of the year. Cinematography, it's like, it's very baseline.
tommy cresta: But, I'm trying, I said to my dad, it's if you mix Joker and Uncut Gems and i like um like, that kind of film.
Ryan: Okay. Yeah.
tommy cresta: But it's, it gets so over the top. That like, you're kind of like, okay, like, how much more can we really do? Like, People have rock bottom. This dude decided to get a jackhammer and just fucking dig even deeper.
tommy cresta: And it's so it just gets a little over the top. But he's so good. Like the performance is so great that it kept the movie in the 80s for me. When I text sounds like without him, this movie late like a 55 to 60.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: But the performance is so great that it's up there. It's like one of my favorites of the year. And what else? Oh, and I watched Havoc on the way down to Georgia.
Ryan: How was it?
tommy cresta: Fucking mid. I need you to watch the opening 15 minutes.
Ryan: Opening 15. Yeah.
tommy cresta: It has a car chase. I'm not. I was really. I was also in the plane. So it was kind of hard to tell fully.
Ryan: yeah
tommy cresta: I'm 99% sure it's all CGI. And then when they do close ups. They do like a stationary car.
Ryan: Okay.
tommy cresta: But it looks really bad. I will say the end action sequence. Kind of dope. lot of cool ways of killing people. But all in all, it's a very lackluster movie. It's Raid 1, Raid 2, Down in Hell Somewhere is Havoc.
Ryan: Gotcha.
tommy cresta: But, yeah.
Ryan: I can see that.
tommy cresta: So, um, oh, and I watched The Materialist. Sam went to school the one day. i didn't know, I already got done all my work on my computer, so went all that.
Ryan: Wait, so you you were with your girlfriend, and the day she was gone is the day you go and see a rom-com.
tommy cresta: She doesn't like rom-coms.
Ryan: Oh, my God. Oh, fuck.
tommy cresta: Dude, she was... She had never seen the Mission Impossible before. That's so... That was first she watched.
Ryan: That's wild.
tommy cresta: She's now in awe like, Tom Cruise's stunts.
tommy cresta: Dude, i I'll go see Final Reckoning with you.
Ryan: Man. Alright.
tommy cresta: It's so much fun. I don't think it's underwhelming like some people said.
Ryan: I got you.
tommy cresta: But, yeah.
Ryan: Yeah, I'm down to see it.
tommy cresta: What is, um... What's your recommendation of the week, Ryan, before we get out of here?
Ryan: I'm kind of scrolling through. I've been playing more video games than anything. i finished ah I finished Black Flag. My first ever Assassin's Creed game.
tommy cresta: I'm surprised you in played- You're big history buff.
Ryan: Not.
tommy cresta: That's why I think I'm shocked you haven't played three.
Ryan: Well, yeah, because it's not real. Well, i tried. I started three last summer and just I forget what else. to start by just started playing other games and kind of, you know, just forgot about it eventually.
tommy cresta: Is that when you got your PlayStation?
Ryan: But I might go back and play it.
tommy cresta: Oh.
Ryan: ah No, that was. Well, I mean, it was when I got um PlayStation Plus.
tommy cresta: Ah.
Ryan: So it was one of the games. I was like, hell yeah, I'll fucking kill some British people.
tommy cresta: Well, then you binge through both The Last of Because you finished The Last of Us 2 before I finished it.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: Because I was playing way before you just shot past me.
Ryan: Yeah. Well, because I played the first one on PC because it came out on PC and had that.
tommy cresta: Oh, yeah.
Ryan: do Do you remember the glitch? Well, no, I probably never even sent it to you. There was a glitch.
tommy cresta: The wet one.
Ryan: it For no reason at all, the characters would just be soaking wet all of a sudden. It was so funny. It would be in the middle of a cutscene. They just get soaked.
tommy cresta: I remember you Snapchatting me the videos of it.
Ryan: So.
tommy cresta: Like, that's what I thought it was late opening up and you're like zooming in on your la on your screen.
Ryan: Yeah. Yeah.
tommy cresta: You're like, why the fuck? Because someone walked in the frame.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: They were just soaked.
Ryan: They're just soaking wet. I think it was Marlene. And she just walked in just dripping. was like, what the fuck happened? We're inside.
tommy cresta: Oh, everyone. Ryan hasn't played the Arkham games. Those are what you have to go play. Dude,
Ryan: I've tried playing them several times.
tommy cresta: they are great games.
Ryan: I just, I haven't been able to get into them. I know.
tommy cresta: Well, you can't just jump ahead.
Ryan: I know.
tommy cresta: You got to play them 1-1-1.
Ryan: No, I know. I gotta to play them in order.
tommy cresta: You don't got to play Origins.
Ryan: I've tried to play them in him in a order. No, Origins, I know you skipped.
tommy cresta: Origins, I tried to play because it because it's one of the games you can get for free. The combat's so bad in that game.
Ryan: is it
tommy cresta: I played Arkham Asylum like three months ago, like beginning to end.
Ryan: hmm but also hell let loose already talked about it a little bit super fun game one of those games that's like you basically run for five minutes and then you get shot and die
tommy cresta: I think...
tommy cresta: going recommend that.
Ryan: But that's kind of the fun of it. You know what i mean? You're just running, doing nothing, and then you're like, oh, I see some – and you die.
tommy cresta: That doesn't sound... that' a Those are like the games I get mad at
Ryan: That's it.
Ryan: No, but if you actually like take your time and like find a position to kind of sit in for a little bit, it is fun to play. You just see some guy like run across, she're like, oh, he thinks he's safe. You just shoot him in the chest.
Ryan: It's great. It's so much fun.
tommy cresta: Damn.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I'm gonna recommend...
Ryan: We should play because running a squad, me, you, and Connor would be fun.
tommy cresta: I might actually... i' like Maybe I'll buy it tonight.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: um
Ryan: It might still be on sale.
tommy cresta: I'm gonna recommend... I guess I'll recommend game too then.
tommy cresta: Oh, I'm going to start streaming it this week. Because I'm home alone and I feel like this is the best time to play a horror game.
Ryan: Oh.
tommy cresta: I'm going to play Alien Isolation, so I'm going to highly recommend everyone go play
Ryan: Three games, Tom. Three games you got to play.
tommy cresta: I know.
Ryan: You started one of them. You started one of them and you said, oh, there's puzzles. don't to play this anymore. You got to finish the Jedi games.
tommy cresta: Oh, that's because I can't figure out the stupid ass map.
Ryan: That's what I'm saying. there's It's not hard. You're just dumb. And I'll help you. I'll help you through this.
tommy cresta: It's not dumb. It has the worst map I've ever used in this game.
Ryan: Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, Tommy is stuck on the first level of the game, and he's like, I can't, I don't know where to go.
tommy cresta: No, it's not the first level.
Ryan: right, yeah, you start off on the scrapyard planet. I forget what it's called.
tommy cresta: Yeah,
Ryan: Your buddy dies, and then the sixth sister, the ninth sister, I don't remember.
tommy cresta: you fight the sister.
Ryan: this No, the second sister is the main one, I believe. And then, ah yeah, the big one.
tommy cresta: The six sister is the one, the big giant one.
Ryan: Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's annoying. Yeah.
tommy cresta: also don't, I'm not going to lie, I don't love the combat in, like, the lightsaber.
Ryan: Really?
tommy cresta: Yeah, I'm not, I don't like the parrying in it.
Ryan: I like it a lot.
Ryan: No?
tommy cresta: No, I don't know why, and it's very, like, most games. it's It doesn't feel as smooth as like, i guess I'm comparing it Ghost of Tsushima, which is just not fair to that game.
Ryan: Yeah, no, that's...
tommy cresta: Which has, like, the best, kind like, sword combat.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I'm so ready for the new one. I will, that, I will have that the day comes out.
Ryan: Ghost of Yotai?
Ryan: Yeah, no, I'm excited too.
tommy cresta: Played the fuck out of that game.
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: I'm so sad. I was going to re-download it. And I was like, oh wait. I don't have my account anymore.
tommy cresta: Because there's you multiplayer.
Ryan: In Ghost of Tsushima?
tommy cresta: Yeah, it's like a survival mode.
Ryan: Oh, yeah. There's the ah the Legends mode, right?
tommy cresta: Yeah.
Ryan: Yeah. I played that for a little bit. It is pretty fun. It's just different.
tommy cresta: I feel like that's a game me and you would get very mad very quick at at each other.
Ryan: Yeah. Because you would go in and just start wailing on guys.
tommy cresta: A way out is going to get there.
Ryan: And i'm trying to like I'm trying to sneak on rooftops and take guys out one by one. You're like, come here, fight me! That's not... Stop it!
tommy cresta: That was me in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Ryan: Stop!
tommy cresta: I did not once. hide forgot I came out throwing axes.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I love that. That was a good game.
Ryan: Uh-huh.
tommy cresta: um But yeah, that's all we got. And then I'm trying. Oh, F1 is the next thing we're reviewing. Because I don't think we have any.
Ryan: Yeah, we'll probably talk about that.
tommy cresta: Yeah, I don't think we have any TV shows coming out. Right.
Ryan: I've heard that you're wrong.
tommy cresta: and
Ryan: It's not going to be like a best picture thing. I heard it's just a popcorn movie, which I'm kind of excited for.
tommy cresta: Yeah, it's just that's that's what I'm saying, too.
Ryan: Yeah.
tommy cresta: I'm not. I don't know. I'm saying I think Brad Pitt could get nominated.
Ryan: I think you're wrong, but no I'm down to see the movie.
tommy cresta: Dude, he got nominated for Moneyball. He can get nominated for this.
Ryan: Don't you dare. Don't you dare talk shit on Moneyball.
tommy cresta: Benjamin Button is better than Moneyball.
Ryan: but
tommy cresta: Curious case of Benjamin Button is a banger. Should have won the Oscar.
Ryan: It's money ball, Tom. It's money ball.
tommy cresta: It's the curious case of Benjamin Button.
Ryan: How can you not be romantic about baseball?
tommy cresta: I am romantic about baseball.
Ryan: Tom, he thought he tried to go for two and he tripped. He didn't know he hit it 50 feet over the fence, Tom. He had no idea.
tommy cresta: That is a great scene.
Ryan: How can you not be romantic about baseball?
tommy cresta: That's the scene that they showed at the Oscars.
Ryan: Did they? Hmm. Brad Pitt's just munching whole time.
tommy cresta: I love Brad Pitt. Great actor. Great dude. He's on my list. If I meet him, I'm getting his signature tattooed on me.

tommy cresta: Dude is 60 and he's still just ah Sam was in shock when I was like, yeah, you know Tom Cruise is 62? And she was like, what?
Ryan: Mm-hmm.
tommy cresta: And then the stunt, the airplane scene she came on and she was like, this is one of the wildest things I've ever seen in these movies. she But now she's like obsessed. She rewatched the first one again. She's like going back through now.
Ryan: Nice.
tommy cresta: She wants to actually like watch. She loves Luther. She loves Benji. The scene at the window kept making her laugh where he's like, sorry, I'm in 2D. He's like, good luck.
