What is this podcast all about? Vernon, GMI staff, and guests help you take steps to experience the reality of Christ in you, or said differently, helping you walk free in each area of your life.

“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)

“for we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,” (Ephesians 4:1)

Introduction to Walking Free Podcast

00:00:01
Speaker
This is your host, Vernon Terrell with Grace Ministries International, and it's time for Walking Free. And welcome to this brand new podcast. I'm very excited that we get to offer this podcast through Grace Ministries International.
00:00:31
Speaker
What I hope to do with this forum is to introduce you to a lot of different people, folks who can help you take those next steps to walk free, walk according to your new identity in Christ. I like the way Paul describes it in Romans 6.4. He says, look, therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death.
00:01:01
Speaker
When you received Jesus Christ as your savior, you died. You were buried with him through baptism into death so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

Exploring Freedom in Various Life Aspects

00:01:22
Speaker
That's what I want for you, for me, for all of us to walk it out, to walk in newness of life.
00:01:33
Speaker
walking free in our emotions, walking free in our finances, walking free in our relationships, walking free from addiction, walking free socially, walking free in our career, in our work, in our serving, all of it. Now, doesn't that sound
00:02:02
Speaker
like something worth listening to. And I certainly do not have all the answers by far, but there's a lot of folks that we're going to bring on this podcast that I think can help help you take at least a few next steps. In fact, uh, our next week we're going to,
00:02:31
Speaker
introduce Michelle Morris. Michelle is going to talk a little bit about her journey and talk about walking free when life just hits us hard. Talk a little bit about this idea of processing our emotions. I don't wanna spill it. She's gonna talk about some really cool stuff next week, so you don't wanna miss it.
00:03:01
Speaker
But when I look at scripture about this idea of walking, there's so many ideas in the New Testament about that.

Embracing Identity in Faith

00:03:15
Speaker
In 1 Corinthians 7, 17, it says God called us in this manner to just walk. He wants us to walk.
00:03:30
Speaker
And you'll notice there'll be a tagline often associated, and I will forget it sometimes, but the tagline is we need to stop talking and start walking. We talk a lot, and I've said it many times. There's folks who know this message of grace and identity is good or better than I do. They can quote you verses, but they're not walking free.
00:04:01
Speaker
They're bound up. I want you not only to know it, I want you to walk it. I want you to, as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5.7, walk by faith, not by sight. You're not always going to see it. You're not always going to understand it.
00:04:26
Speaker
But you can walk, you don't see your righteousness. You don't see the brand new you that has been created. You don't see your union with Christ. That's why you walk by faith. It's true. Your walk doesn't make it true. It just is true. I want you to experience that truth.
00:04:58
Speaker
I want you to know that as Paul wrote to the folks in Ephesus to realize that we are his workmanship, Ephesians 2.10, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
00:05:24
Speaker
He's prepared you for holiness. Go walk in holiness. He's prepared you for righteousness. Go walk in righteousness. He's prepared you in love and to love. So walk in love. Loving doesn't make you any more loved. You are loved. So go walk in it. That's why Paul continued in Ephesians four. He goes,
00:05:54
Speaker
As the prisoner of the Lord, I implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called. That's what we're about, helping you walk free. I say it all the time at Grace Ministries. Our mission is four words, helping others walk free.

Mission and Vision of Grace Ministries

Our vision is millions
00:06:24
Speaker
of men, women, and families here and around the world walking free by God's grace, letting go of the lies that hold them back, and embracing the truth that gives them hope. That's what we want for you. So, this podcast, so many cool guests that are gonna be coming on and talking, some regular, some, we're just gonna see where the Lord leads, but for now, I want you
00:06:54
Speaker
as Paul wrote in Colossians 2.6. Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him. How did you receive him? You received him by faith. I want you to go walk in faith. So many times when I work with folks, I get calls, mostly I'll get calls when people have just messed up, or just things aren't going well. That's okay. I love those calls.
00:07:24
Speaker
often I'll hear the same issue. And these are folks who know the truth. They're not walking in the truth. And what I've come to understand is that more often than not, and maybe I'll say it's the rule, if you will,
00:07:46
Speaker
that you can know the truth intellectually, but until you receive that voice of the Lord, if you will, that revelation from the Lord, that it's true for you. For me, it was Romans 6 that the Lord said, Vernon, you're dead to sin.
00:08:11
Speaker
Not in theory, not in just what the scripture says, you truly are dead to sin and alive to God. That was amazing. It's like I knew that, I read about it, I understood it, I could preach it, but when it hit home, when the Lord just opened my eyes and said, you are,
00:08:40
Speaker
You're dead to sin.

Personal Revelations and Encouragement

00:08:41
Speaker
It doesn't feel like that all the time. And yes, temptation is a reality that we live with, but you're dead to sin and alive to God. You're dead to sin and alive to righteousness because that's who you are. Sin has no authority or hold over you. Has that hit home for you?
00:09:09
Speaker
Ask the Lord. Ask the Lord to reveal the truth to you, not just to know it. You need to know it. That's the first step. You need to believe it's true, absolutely. But you need to know that you know that you know that it's true for you. And that is why you'll see in the New Testament documents, you'll see in these letters that have been preserved
00:09:39
Speaker
What we know is the inspired word of God tells us to remind ourselves of the truth. Even David would cry out and remind himself. Solomon would remind himself. We're told the same thing. We need to
00:10:05
Speaker
Renew our mind to set our minds. Why we get distracted. Life is busy. Things hit us. Our emotions can go haywire at times and we're told to remind ourselves of the truth. So let me leave you with that. I want to introduce this new podcast walking free.
00:10:35
Speaker
And I hope that it will be a blessing to you next week, week number two. Episode number two is gonna drop. I want you to subscribe, however you subscribe. We also have a page with all of these podcasts as well. But our goal, our desire,
00:11:04
Speaker
is for you to stop talking and start walking. You've been listening to Walking Free, a production of Grace Ministries International in Marietta, Georgia.
