Zach Sheets: Hello and welcome to the Everything Action Cast podcast for the week of September 7th, 2026. I'm your host, Zach.
Chris Prime: I'm your co -host, Chris.
Zach Sheets: And this week we're on the hunt for Avenging Force. the canon classic that is celebrating its 40th anniversary came out on september 12 1986. And yeah, another one of the... several michael dudikoff starring canon films because they were going global like very high on michael dudikoff I think... i think Menachem Golan was like, this guy's the next James Dean.
Chris Prime: Yeah he's not a Terrible actor. You know, like they they just went all in on him for some weird reason. It's like. It's not like he did.
Chris Prime: many other films that kind of get his name out there first, I think. An American Ninja that they in -house produced.
Zach Sheets: I think he he had supporting roles in some stuff. like He was in... like Tron. And like, uh...
Chris Prime: I forgot he was in Tron.
Zach Sheets: I don't... Yeah. and like uncommon valor and a couple other like, like small roles.
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah, like...
Zach Sheets: but like Like we were talking about bachelor parties where you saw them.
Chris Prime: I first saw him in Bachelor Party, and then...
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: I went back and then was like, okay, the guy from bachelor party, like the funny, one of the funny dudes in bachelor party. is now the main lead, where he wants to be like a...
Zach Sheets: Martial arts action star, yeah.
Chris Prime: oriental guy? but it's like It's weird just because... He wasn't really known for his martial art. in the beginning, you know?
Zach Sheets: No, yeah.
Chris Prime: I think I remember in Tron, I think he's just like... He's introduced. Like. A third of the way in the movie.
Chris Prime: He's like another, like, service. like API or whatever.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: But... Yeah, it's just this. trajectory of You went from like... bit character to like main lead in similar movies from canon
Zach Sheets: Well, it's it's kind of it's a weird. like if it's It was kind of like if Chuck Norris could do something, they're like, get Michael Judikoff. it's like Because American Ninja was written like was supposed to be a Chuck Norris movie. I'll turn it down. So they're like, we have to like.
Zach Sheets: Go on a nationwide search, a worldwide search for someone else that they found Mokadutikov. And then this movie, Avenging Force, was... so originally a sequel to Invasion USA, one of our absolute favorites.
Zach Sheets: And the check door started down. So they're like, Get Michael Duke off in here.
Chris Prime: You know. I... I could see you. Like. Chuck Norris was really popular. I mean, he was he's still, you know, for a long time. But... I understand if. He...
Chris Prime: was like starting out in canon and then they're like okay be in this movie he's like hell no you know i'm too famous for this I like that.
Chris Prime: they they did like a like a search and got dudikoff which i don't know what due to coughs. uh agent was doing you know like
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: What a way to be like, okay, if we couldn't get Chuck Norris, we got Dudikoff. Like, what? That's not even. They're like two different completely like uh tones you know what one Makes sense for like a cowboy. look which at this point i think and in in uh Chuck Norris' career. He was not really known for being a cowboy yet.
Zach Sheets: This was the same year that Infinity Force came out, the Delta Force came out.
Chris Prime: And it has nothing to do with cowboy looks.
Zach Sheets: No.
Chris Prime: I granted, I think. He did have. high boy karate genes or is just more karate genes
Zach Sheets: I mean, he it was like the action jeans. I don't know if they were for If you're doing like giant like split kicks and stuff.
Chris Prime: Right, right, but... I'm just thinking... Lone Wolf McQuaid, I think was around this time.
Zach Sheets: A couple years before, yeah.
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah. So that's where they got like a more. Like. you know, country Chuck Norris. where he's mar he's a martial artist, but he's Like. Got an American spirit.
Chris Prime: Because this movie... Tries to... have that, where you have a character... but The protagonist, that is. Like he's everything.
Chris Prime: Like...
Zach Sheets: In Avenging Force.
Chris Prime: East. Yeah.
Zach Sheets: mm -mm
Chris Prime: You know, like in this version. In this story, if this was a sequel to a Chuck Norris thing, this... Ina makes sense as a... follow -up. For just maybe the, the like... premise.
Chris Prime: Not necessarily what happens because. This movie goes in all different directions. But. like I could see they're like, okay, how do you... How do you... Step up the the ante where in Invasion USA.
Chris Prime: One man. Kicks out. Like a communist party that was trying to invade America?
Zach Sheets: yeah like terror Yeah, terrorists and communists joined forces to invade... Like... So... Florida.
Chris Prime: Invade Miami?
Zach Sheets: yeahami Yeah,
Chris Prime: and then in this it's just like let's go to the bayou which I mean, it's not super close to Florida, but it's like more. northern but It's like they even bother getting an actor that.
Chris Prime: Is Cajun. Or. Like, Louisianan or... I don't know. It's like weird. Dudukov. At the beginning it just looks... Texan? Art.
Zach Sheets: i think i think i think he's I think he's in Texas.
Chris Prime: Tennessee.
Zach Sheets: He's like a... he Well, I mean, he's Matt Hunter, but we're we're not sure if he's the same Matt Hunter from Invading USA.
Chris Prime: Oh, is he? His name's, it's the same, matt it's a Matt Hunter.
Zach Sheets: Is it? Is it? It's Matt Hunter still, yeah. They didn't bother to use his name.
Chris Prime: Wow
Zach Sheets: Which... Which makes it even more confusing. or It's like, is it the same character?
Chris Prime: That is confusing.
Zach Sheets: Is it? And then. In Avenging Force, he's a former Secret Service agent. but then in invasion say it's a former cia agent so that it's also it's like They changed a couple things, but they kept things the same.
Chris Prime: Yeah, that
Zach Sheets: He's still got a big truck. He's got like the same kind of truck that Chuck Norris had in Invasion USA.
Chris Prime: Is it?
Zach Sheets: I mean, it's that it's not the exact same, but it's like... it's
Chris Prime: The idea of it.
Zach Sheets: so still like a big like pickup truck that like start like driving over people and stuff
Chris Prime: Were they trying to basically make like a Batman movie where it's like. You kind of have an idea. They're not they're not necessarily at the same timeline, but it's like... You get the same, like...
Chris Prime: Themes.
Zach Sheets: The Matt Hunter multiverse.
Chris Prime: Yeah. i I mean, like... kind of multiverse, but just sort of like it's a reboot. character It's sort of like. You have.
Zach Sheets: He goes, He's a sister that is never mentioned in Invading USA.
Chris Prime: that's what i mean like i i kind of initially i was like I'll go. Also first time watching this recently. So... There's a lot of questions. I didn't do any research. I went in in this blind, not knowing that this was to be a Vision USA.
Chris Prime: Sequel. And then. They just sort of throw characters at you where it's like. Here's the grandpa. Here's the who here's what you think is her his daughter, but then it's like, here's your sister.
Zach Sheets: Mhm.
Chris Prime: And I was like, what?
Zach Sheets: is Their parents were killed by some other... Like, bad guy? Like... years ago and then that's getting i it They're going to quit like the Secret Service? And then he's got the like his friend.
Zach Sheets: It was by Steve James, who's running for...
Chris Prime: Larry.
Zach Sheets: Larry was running for Senate.
Chris Prime: Yeah, that...
Zach Sheets: And and they were they were like military guys?
Chris Prime: be
Zach Sheets: partners or like comrades.
Chris Prime: which is almost like oh this is a nod to their relation to american ninja
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.
Chris Prime: Because I think... This is between American Ninja movies.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I think the the first one was the year before this and then... The next one was like... I think that like the the year after this.
Zach Sheets: I can't even... If nothing else there they were cranking out movies So.
Chris Prime: I mean, hats off.
Zach Sheets: Hmm?
Chris Prime: There is also something beautiful about this movie of just make filming. in crowds and doing stunts and, and seeing.
Chris Prime: Probably a lot of safety. regulations being Bent. You know, just to like... run around. And knowing Globe and Globus, like they just film things and then paid for like fines later.
Zach Sheets: Well, it's also like Sam Furstenberg came back to direct us. wedding Like he directed American Ninja. I think you've seen all the American Ninja movies. And then... Uh, like. Delta Force 3 and, like, all these other, like... a book And he's... In Revenge of the Ninja, he's Domination. And he's always throwing, like, people on fire or he's throwing people off buildings or, you know, smashing cars. He's doing, like, like a lot of practical stunts.
Chris Prime: And it shows.
Zach Sheets: Hmm?
Chris Prime: I am genuinely impressed because if you just looked at the cover alone, you don't. You don't see that it's gonna be basically like Such a crazy.
Chris Prime: 80s action movie. I thought. It was going to be like a misdirect. Where? You think? It's going to be a martial arts heavy movie.
Chris Prime: Well, actually in the beginning. It starts out like a... Like a... Most dangerous game.
Zach Sheets: well yeah it's It's bookended by the most dangerous game. which is like kind of like the selling point.
Chris Prime: Yeah, and then that... Yeah, but but then it's like the whole middle is like a whole different movie.
Zach Sheets: Hmm.
Chris Prime: Uh... And then it just escalates like a crazy escalation of like. tension and drama and then just showing how, like... serious the villains are.
Chris Prime: I didn't take them serious in the beginning because they all look like G .I. Joe cosplayers in like the 80s.
Zach Sheets: Yes.
Chris Prime: Like, G .I. Joe villains.
Zach Sheets: Mm.
Chris Prime: Especially when it's like... They chose this outfit. This wasn't a like. A ritual. or Or like... you know some some rich benefactor just said okay hey I've got outfits for everyone. And just gave them out. and Just like. Okay. You know what I mean? like
Zach Sheets: but these it's it's it's It's very personalized to the guy that is wearing it. like this is like this is mike This is my hunting outfit.
Chris Prime: And.
Zach Sheets: yeah
Chris Prime: I don't like two of them make sense and the rest are just like, what do you what did you wear? What is this?
Zach Sheets: I would... I would love to see the scene where like they like... reveal their costumes to each other. It was like... Oh, we're like first our first hunt, guys, let's like we're gonna like show each other what we're wearing. and like The one guy comes out and is like...
Chris Prime: Gimp outfit?
Zach Sheets: muscular kip outfits.
Chris Prime: Like he's out of a Mad Max.
Zach Sheets: Yep.
Chris Prime: Like. Concept sheep. There is a GI Joe. Villain? That is basically that. And I think this copied that or they copied this. I don't know.
Chris Prime: but basically it's It's like the Bane mask.
Zach Sheets: Hmm.
Chris Prime: and it's the same muscular build but instead of like I don't know. like the harness that the dude wears. He has actually like a shirt, you know, so it's. He's just not like. in a Blaine, like...
Chris Prime: Adult outfit.
Zach Sheets: i don't I don't know if I would wear... like not a shirt if you're in the middle of like the louisiana like swamps
Chris Prime: You'd be bitten by mosquitoes.
Zach Sheets: like so yeah that's what like this movie like Just filming this movie must have been a nightmare. of just like You're they're in the swamps constantly. They're gonna be thrown into the water. Because it's not a soundstage. You're like out deep in the swamps of Louisiana to see this movie.
Chris Prime: yeah they didn't clean it they just went let's just film for like the next hour and then we'll take you to the hospital after to like
Zach Sheets: Alligators and snakes and...
Chris Prime: What?
Zach Sheets: chiggers, flea ticks, whatever it else is going on up there.
Chris Prime: And. rob Yeah, and probably like drunk. New Orleans, like. party goers like over watching the crowd you know just
Zach Sheets: It's like an airboat.
Chris Prime: What's going on over there?
Zach Sheets: Somebody pulls up on the airboat like, what y 'all doing over here?
Chris Prime: Like.
Zach Sheets: here
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah And that that's why I'm like. Okay, and they probably just... you know, I don't know. This this was movie doesn't seem like it got tax credit. you You know what I mean?
Chris Prime: like
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: This is also 1980. And y 'all.
Zach Sheets: Sit. Six.
Chris Prime: In 1986. Yeah, Louisiana was just like... The partying paid for everything. They didn't need, like... They didn't have like devastating like problems where.
Chris Prime: you know They were asking people to film. and in sort of like help the economy. Which is now. Like, unfortunately, that's just what... what Louisiana kind of asses a lot of like. films and stuff that's why Nicholas Cage movies always taking place in Louisiana in that one period.
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.
Chris Prime: But. Yeah. During this time, like it was what Louisiana. like culture was at its almost like peak of just Between 1980, like... the 80s until like the late 90s. before like Girls Gone Wild culture ruined it.
Chris Prime: It's but like You know what I mean? Like, they oh, you're all making a ninja movie out here?
Zach Sheets: so
Chris Prime: Yeah. and again it's not a movie that does the city credit they're like we're gonna make a movie Where. The super rich and racist like cult.
Chris Prime: Thrives here. and they hunted your backyard.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, it's a secret society of like... Far -right fascists who are hunting people in the swamps.
Chris Prime: It is not a put a good. like Mark on Louisiana. But it's such a bizarre thing because... This fascist group?
Chris Prime: has a very big louisiana pride like
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: It... And then it's like they don't find the irony that it's like, you know, that culture is not pure American, right? Like that is. Next. Louisiana is like pretty diverse.
Chris Prime: I mean... Still kind of racist, because that's only been like... I don't know 10 years at this point between like the 76 and like what happened between all that and now
Zach Sheets: Well, guess I guess it's it's only like... it's only like five It's like the five guys. It's like this group, the Pentangle. And then... I guess they like they like they have like the...
Zach Sheets: like gentlemen's like i know that that like martial arts demonstration you're watching
Chris Prime: Oh, the survivors like committee, whatever they called it.
Zach Sheets: where they're watching like it's like the like the kempo like like fight between
Chris Prime: No, Kendo. So.
Zach Sheets: Kendo, yeah.
Chris Prime: It's kendo match between the two other members. They happen to be very racist because that's like the requirement to be in this group. What?
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: they're very diverse you know like they their interests are like besides hunting like humans. They all have like... You know. day jobs and what i assume is like other cultural things but Like.
Chris Prime: I mean...
Zach Sheets: Well... Well, the guy the guy like dresses like a ninja. is like just a full -on like weeaboo like he's just like he has he's wearing a kimono he's like got his katanas like he's just like i just love japanese culture
Chris Prime: Yeah. What? He hates the Japanese people.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: we Weird, right? like That's not like for a racist group.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: they have like certain things that don't make sense Even the headmaster, he wears a killer Mardi Gras mask. And I'm like... That's French and Cajun inspired. That's not pure like Aryan.
Zach Sheets: But he's also just wearing camo. He's like, I found this one mask. Even though you find out later in the end of the movie, he has a full weapons room full of different suits of armor and all these different weapons. He's like, I found this mask in a dollar store.
Zach Sheets: I'm just gonna wear this.
Chris Prime: No, no, the, the Katana. ninja guy he's the dollar store mass but i'm saying like the that guy he wears a like a more elaborate Like, just their masks.
Zach Sheets: Yep.
Chris Prime: And.
Zach Sheets: I feel like...
Chris Prime: i thought I thought he would be...
Zach Sheets: the what
Chris Prime: Like. More reveal that his like. full attire in his like final form is just one of those like new orleans Mardi Gras like jester outfits.
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.
Chris Prime: There's like silken... purple and yellow, and it looks like he's gonna about to, like, Lead a parade? it just seems scary we're like you but still it's like that guy's racist
Zach Sheets: I feel like the... Delaney, who's like the senator, who's like a former like football player.
Chris Prime: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: like I feel like he is kind of just like... so like slacking off like he's very like basically like paintball gear He's just like, oh, i so I'm just wearing a camo. like handkerchief Like, that's all I wear.
Chris Prime: but It's... Like. Practical. Because he's not trying to...
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Cosplay. Or he's not trying to... show off his other interests you know and plus he hides his identity behind the hat in mass, and it's like, yeah, that's like...
Chris Prime: Enough. It... You know, he doesn't need like the get mass where if he goes to like a grocery store by accident, they're like, what the hell? You know, like.
Zach Sheets: Isn't that the senator that used to be like a Heisman trophy winner?
Chris Prime: Right. Why is he wearing, like... The sex toy. But. The hat and mask, easy to take off, easy to put on, and... It makes sense. It's camo. and you know he's covered up he could he could jump out of bushes
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Shirtless. You know. gi outfit dude you're just like you see him coming from a mile away if you like stare at him
Zach Sheets: he's got that he's got that crazy weapon in the first hunt the opening hunt where he's got it's like a it's not trident but it's kind of like a trident but there it's like a weird like claw weapon thing
Chris Prime: I think that's like a... Gator -like.
Zach Sheets: Like, you, like, stab into the gate and it grabbed them or something?
Chris Prime: Yeah. Because I'm like, I swear this is a G .I. Joe toy. i'll show you the photo I'll send you the photo of this. and' be like
Zach Sheets: Oh, I think, is it yeah, isn't it like Gator Master or something? is like the like
Chris Prime: Something like that, right? It's like...
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: very very like I don't know what came first.
Zach Sheets: Or Croc Master, I think maybe his his his name is.
Chris Prime: Croc Master.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, he and he but he was like extremely Cajun. like He was like at like... in Stanley Cajun.
Chris Prime: But the thing about Cobra though, I know we're getting the G .I. Joe tangent. They weren't racist.
Zach Sheets: No.
Chris Prime: They were just like a generic terrorist organization. And then they had, they had like a whole bunch of diversity for a terrorist group.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, as long as you wanted to conquer the world, they were like open to everybody.
Chris Prime: Yeah. I think they tried to say that they were he was racist and one of the origins of Cobra Commander, but like it didn't work out. Because, They essentially just realized like.
Chris Prime: Oh, like. They need to recruit internationally.
Zach Sheets: and And also he turned out to be like a snake man. A literal snake man.
Chris Prime: I don't know in the comics he was.
Chris Prime: I think of the show. he He is, but in the...
Zach Sheets: the movie the The movie revealed that he was a snake man.
Chris Prime: The movie revealed that there was like a secret society of snake people. that
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: Lived in. you know. Antarctica? What?
Zach Sheets: I think... yeah
Chris Prime: Yeah. And then in the comic, though, they kind of explained that. Babe. They didn't have that. like don't It's like... They're more grounded. Even though at some point core chromata was like supposed to be like a clone of, like, another thing. I can get into that. but Back to this. you you know I saw that and I was like... Yes. You see the this movie and you get that.
Chris Prime: Oh yeah, no, no. To to clari verify. This movie came out... And then Croc Master came out the year later.
Zach Sheets: So they're like, yeah, we got to get like. that guy from avenging force needs to be a gi joe character him and refrigerator perry need to be gi joe characters
Chris Prime: Man, the fridge was awesome. He had a sledgehammer. I don't know, sledgehammer made out of like a cinder block?
Zach Sheets: Do you think you think John Woo saw this movie too and was like, oh man, I have an idea for my... my
Chris Prime: Totally.
Zach Sheets: My Hollywood debut.
Chris Prime: There is.
Zach Sheets: It's like... The most dangerous game, but in, the and like, Louisiana Bayou.
Chris Prime: That's I'm like certain things. Canon does right because it just looks cool. And we mentioned this with like Universal Soldier. where There are. Tibbits. That.
Chris Prime: That, like... is put out there. And you just need someone that kind of like. you know, stitches it together in a coherent version.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: And it's it's hard because it's... It's super super hard to make an original movie. And when you do see an original movie, it's usually batshit crazy. It's like they went too hard in how original.
Zach Sheets: yeah
Chris Prime: Hence, like the room's insane. Uh... Megatropolis is like like super hard to watch. Uh... Is that Metropologist?
Zach Sheets: Megalopolis.
Chris Prime: Wait. Megalopolis. Is that the one where... They have superpowers for architecture.
Zach Sheets: there's some like yeah M Driver is some sort of like special like material that you can like use to build buildings, but also like it heals people too.
Chris Prime: yeah see okay but you know what i mean like i i didn't see the movie i barely remember the title but just on paper i'm like That's insane, right?
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: like That's a movie that just bombed. but who knows 30 years from now they're like did you hear about this like underrated cult classic And like. for us.
Chris Prime: uh i think we've might have we've always browsed passive entering force but i've never seen it and i'm just like
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: spreading the gospel how crazy this movie is.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, think we've I think we've both seen the American Ninja like... several times.
Chris Prime: And.
Zach Sheets: But yeah.
Chris Prime: they and They never like follow it up.
Zach Sheets: All right.
Chris Prime: where It's like, hey, you like American Ninja? Check out Avenging Force. It's a movie that just does not care about... like connecting with characters. They just... check Besides... Matt Hunter, everyone else's free game.
Zach Sheets: Yeah most of the characters will be dead by the and end of this movie.
Chris Prime: dead or like in a conspiracy for the next movie which I got to see Avenging Force 2.
Zach Sheets: I don't think there is an Avenging Force 2, but...
Chris Prime: Are you sure?
Zach Sheets: No. Yeah, there isn't one.
Chris Prime: What?
Zach Sheets: they like I think they sound like they haven't implied there's going to be, which is like... it's like i'm gonna find out i'm gonna keep fighting the pentangle then yeah Bay Hunter never came back.
Zach Sheets: there's went He went back to being the American Ninja for two more movies.
Chris Prime: Wow No official sequel. That's insane. This movie kind of has a... you know a vibe that it could be. like you know check out this guy taking on like more of a cult in a society and i think Yeah, like it was too much for.
Chris Prime: Golden Globus to like. to like handle they're like oh no we gotta keep turning out movies so No time to build a cinematic universe. like I also think that they didn't know how to make cinematic universes.
Zach Sheets: No. This also kind of has the feel of like a TV pilot. Where it's like... Like, this is like, the it's like. The Batangle's still out there, and every week Matt Hunter will try to hunt them down.
Chris Prime: Oh, I could see that. Even though he doesn't really do a good job. Hunting them until like... The end where he shows up to. that That society party?
Zach Sheets: well it's like it's Well, first of all, why is the Secret Service investigating this? because like i don't like it's don they just Isn't it just treasury crimes? that are just like We just need to investigate fake money? I don't know why the Secret Service has this like command center and all this like...
Chris Prime: Well, Secret Service is like...
Zach Sheets: The rest is good.
Chris Prime: like a threat to the government. So they have like a giant oversight.
Zach Sheets: i guess I guess it's because... are they protecting larry because he's running for senate so they're like kind of there to be like this This guy might be a future senator if we gotta protect him.
Chris Prime: Yeah. Yeah, I could see that.
Zach Sheets: but then But then like they're at the Mardi Gras parade and there's like Three guys on security like three like Rent -A -Cop Mall Cop Guys.
Chris Prime: Like, just like... Mall cops, just like, hello. Yeah. Okay. Since we're going to jump into that, because at the beginning... Before we get into that. Let's talk about the first, like, test.
Chris Prime: group that runs out.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, like the classic most dangerous game where you see the previous hunt and how it ends and the hunters kill them.
Chris Prime: Hmm.
Zach Sheets: It's like, yes, our hunt is completed again. We've done it again.
Chris Prime: And it seemed like the initiation, right? like It. for two of them in the group they're like wow congrats on your like First hunt.
Zach Sheets: I don't remember if it was their first time. I feel like they all kind of like... doing it for a while. I think they were just like, oh, I got the first kill, you got the second kill. Like, good job, bro.
Chris Prime: I don't know, for like... a group of guys they are weirdly touchy -feely and then they all look at each other like loving eyes.
Zach Sheets: i love i love I love my right -wing fascist bros, my hunting bros.
Chris Prime: Where I get to really show my stuff, where we watch, you know... Commander Jeb really take a shirt off like.
Zach Sheets: Yeah. I get to show my true self, which is a muscular gimp.
Chris Prime: Hey, Commander Jeff, what's going on with you, man?
Zach Sheets: i think Don't they say he's like... Like... Like a world championship martial artist. That's like his like. background But he's like.
Chris Prime: Iron Man.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, the Iron Man martial artist.
Chris Prime: There are martial artists, but...
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: he's supposed to be a iron man so he's just really good at like biking running Swimming. He's not like a MMA fighter. That wasn't a thing yet.
Zach Sheets: And I think the other two are just like businessmen. Like there's like rich businessmen.
Chris Prime: No, one guy is... uh the professor
Zach Sheets: he's He's got like a... Yeah.
Chris Prime: So he is like everything. Apparently he's lived like a crazy life. And I do like that. He's not just like an old man. with money like he actually is involved he gets really like his hands dirty
Zach Sheets: Yep.
Chris Prime: So hats off for that, but... They are not... If you if you somehow... Did not watch this movie. Uh... It is a group of like. Golfers.
Chris Prime: You know, it's like the typical people you would see at a golf tee.
Zach Sheets: mm -hmm Country club guys, yeah.
Chris Prime: Yeah, country club, man. Because there's a point in the movie where they don't they go on a... like Like a kill mission. to Matt Hunter's ranch.
Chris Prime: And. They just look like the most like. Right. Like. like the neighborhood watch that are themselves.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: They no longer wear their, like... kill out their hunt outfit, their their stalker attire.
Zach Sheets: we went We went to the Army surplus store where we bought a bunch of camo. like outfits and a buckle.
Chris Prime: Mass.
Zach Sheets: Ball of Cloth was.
Chris Prime: Yeah. And then the only thing that made him unique was... One guy has a bow gun?
Zach Sheets: Crossbow, yeah.
Chris Prime: and that's it like the rest is just like they have a regular like military grade weaponry
Zach Sheets: Well, what's funny is like when when they finally decide to attack themselves, like they're like super effective. For like the first half of the movie, there's something like... parker who's like... he looks like they're accountants or something he's just like this like weasley little like dude it's just like You do it, Parker.
Chris Prime: I was gonna say that.
Zach Sheets: Bring a bunch of guys and kind of kill them. He's constantly failing.
Chris Prime: It's... Not like they were doing some other hunt and then they just just didn't have the time. Like... They just sat around and waited for Parker. and
Zach Sheets: right
Chris Prime: I don't know who Parker brought with them. But it's like they keep bringing out their. Best men? And. Like. They're just. Like. Dudes, you know, like none of them. Have a particular like.
Chris Prime: Skill. they just I think the requirement was, can everyone wear glasses? like can everyone Like sunglasses. Almost all of them wear sunglasses and mustaches.
Zach Sheets: well I love the first group. at the Mardi Gras parade that show up as like musicians and they're just like, they're like air playing their instruments. like It's like... they' one guy's holding a tuba but he's not even blowing into the mouthpiece just sort of like like moving back and forward. Like I'm a two foot player.
Zach Sheets: Don't mind me.
Chris Prime: I mean, even if they did play it, you probably couldn't hear them because it's so loud, so it makes sense to just want to hang out and watch, I guess, but... But... the weapon, like the, the whatever weapons they needed weren't even in the instrument so i don't know why they had to be Like a band.
Zach Sheets: Well, it's weird. It's i think but like those mothers were in on it. that The mothers were like the like the babies. and the like Because like the guns were in like the baby carriages.
Chris Prime: But the mothers also weren't. Like... They weren't. Aryan women. They were like.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, there was Black women.
Chris Prime: black women so i was like more confused by that i was like So they paid them off. Like what? Do this community not like... Senator or potential Senator Larry Richards?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, who knows? it' It's like, they cut to like, when they first cut to like, they show like the baby characters. It's like the obvious music starts playing. And you're just like. Wait, why is why is it ominous that there's like a baby carriage here?
Zach Sheets: Is there a bomb in it or something?
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah.
Zach Sheets: And it's like, no, there's babies in there. they like But then like they like... walk away and it's like, oh, there's guns in there. Okay.
Chris Prime: So there were like... Real guns on... Babies? Like beneath babies? In that. setup. you know.
Zach Sheets: did you Did you also feel like the Mardi Gras parade was kind of like... like A little bit like tame. for like what canon films but but like i feel like going to globus would have been like yeah this is a perfect perfect chance for some nudity let's get it in there
Chris Prime: Yeah, it could have been. More violent like it starts really violent and then just our tones down But. Honestly, the but like shootout but on the crowd is pretty like intense because it's Like...
Chris Prime: I mean, we suspected because the music changed, but the crowd just like, oh man, they took out, they're like, they are terrible shots.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: They took out like. The driver.
Zach Sheets: They shoot the guy. The guy driving the tractor, yeah, like... A bunch of bystanders.
Chris Prime: Some guys on like... The balcony that... had no like they weren't secrets i think they were just partying
Zach Sheets: Yeah, a bunch of the partiers just get shot.
Zach Sheets: And then like Larry's son gets shot And then Michael Dugov gets a gun and he takes out a bunch of the guys. And then there's like a... There's quite quite a lot like like a lot of Michael Tudos is doing a lot of like hardcore parkour. He's like jumping like across roofs and stuff.
Chris Prime: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: and then later at the construction like that like like construction site he's like doing a bunch of stuff too Like, he's doing, like, flips. Also a lot of action rolls. Like, he's he's doing, like, a bunch of, like, dodging action rolls to, like, avoid gunfire.
Zach Sheets: It's like one of his go -to moves.
Zach Sheets: But yeah, he like he he takes out a bunch of the attackers and then... What's crazy is... Like Larry's son, like the paramedics come in like. Oh, he's got no pulse. He's that he's got no breathing.
Zach Sheets: but then they load them in the ambulance like they're like not shaking their heads like no But they load him in the ambulance, and then they go to everyone goes to the hospital. And so I was like, oh, is he like going to surgery? or like what like what's There's like no update or anything. And then like a couple of scenes later, they're like, oh, he's dead.
Zach Sheets: They're just like, oh, they killed my son.
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's like Yeah.
Zach Sheets: Wait, what?
Chris Prime: I thought it was... More like. confirmed on you know like at the parade that he didn't make it but Yeah, it is played like, oh, there's still a chance. Real? What?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, they're not zipping him into a body bag. Larry picks him up and then carries him to an ambulance. and then like they're in like A doctor comes out and stuff. Is he like... give me an update like is he like hanging on barely
Chris Prime: so for like I thought it would be one of those touching things at the end. Where you find out he made it or something.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: It's like a happy ending, but... No, this movie does not have a happy ending.
Zach Sheets: That's... It's like the first slide in this movie is like ruthless.
Chris Prime: I don't think I... scene. like maybe death wish it's like following that where it's like Just keep like... Tragedy after tragedy keeps happening.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: And it's nothing you don't expect. It's like... the avenging force but it's like He didn't get his full revenge.
Zach Sheets: Until it lasts like 30 minutes.
Chris Prime: or Revenge? Yeah. Even then, it's just like... The... The, like... The four guys? but he needs to take out but then it's like what about the fifth for the you know the name of the group
Zach Sheets: Yeah, because I guess Parker's not the fifth member. He's just like a crony of the the five members.
Chris Prime: I think it's a, I don't know, like.
Chris Prime: There's a whole bunch of crony. like because there's like, you know, if you're... A guy with glass, like, you know. higher society, you're part of the the core group. And the rest, you're just henchmen. You just get like... a phone call then you just funnel into a van and dropped off into like a a shootout.
Zach Sheets: But then they also have like an entire Cajun village. it's like like It works for them or like is cover for them.
Chris Prime: Yeah, that that's another thing where the Cajun Village is so out of place because you feel like... For a movie that's supposed to represent, like... more purity of what they're going for and kind of far right.
Chris Prime: Cajun. Bayous aren't. the the setting you would think they would be in. I mean... They are for... very very racist people that do things but That community doesn't seem like...
Chris Prime: They pay taxes. You know?
Zach Sheets: We're getting...
Chris Prime: like A lot of them seem like they're drifters that just set up shop at an abandoned mansion. let alone there's a whole thing where it's like a child trafficking ring which they don't even get into like Mike.
Chris Prime: Michael Dudelkoff just...
Zach Sheets: Barely three seconds, yeah.
Chris Prime: Yeah, he just goes by like we have no time to solve this. I have to go.
Zach Sheets: The hunt is on. I have to go.
Chris Prime: I thought that would tie back in, where he beats up the, the like... Headmistress, but... Yeah, just shoves her out a window. And then. just on to the beginning of the movie they go back to.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Zach Sheets: I do like that, like, the Pentangle gave him, like... a couple weeks to heal up. Before they, like... First thing we go into hunts.
Chris Prime: They hunted him? Was it a couple weeks?
Zach Sheets: It was like, cause like. So. like So Larry larry larry and Matt Hunter go. they get a phone call from like the hospital where it's like, someone is like, pretending to be from like a television station or something or a news station it's like Come and tell us your story by the story. Be on the show. And it's like, oh, that's trap, right?
Zach Sheets: And then there's a big like car chase where Matt has his truck and then... They go to this like construction site. there's whole bunch of like They're like fighting a bunch of guys at the construction site.
Zach Sheets: Like, uh... That is a cool, like... zipline on his belt that like that a crane and kicks a guy and then Like Larry throws a guy off like a super high... like into like a river or like a OSHA or something?
Zach Sheets: there was like then You could tell this an actual stunt guy did like that like crazy like jump off whatever that was.
Chris Prime: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: and then But then the pentangle is like, oh. we We know where who he is now. like We know who this person is. they get like Film quality slides of like them fighting
Chris Prime: oh it's like it's 1986 and they had somehow have like the real of the movie like
Zach Sheets: Which I...
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm. I think it might have been after like the Mardi Gras fight. They had like a bunch of like photos of the Mardi Gras fight.
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah I'm just saying like. I give him.
Zach Sheets: But who's taking those photos?
Chris Prime: I didn't. Yeah, because it seemed like the street was completely clear, but... they have like... the movie on slide.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: I prefer if it was like black and white from a distance, because that's... Kind of accurate in a lot of those situations, but they have like a full color slide. Someone paid money for a good like high res.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: for that error
Zach Sheets: I guess they can afford it. They're like super rich.
Chris Prime: Yeah, super evil, super rich. So they want like... to see every like. Detail. Of Matt Hunter.
Zach Sheets: but But yeah, but but they they find out like he find out it's Matt Hunter. That's like. like going after them and they found out where he lives. And then, like we said, the four guys decide to, like, all right, we've been having this lackey.
Zach Sheets: Parker do this. We're gonna kill him. And then we're going to take it. but We'll do ourselves. and we'll and then So they go and attack like... Matt Hunter's ranch. And then it's like every character besides Matt Hunter and his sister die.
Chris Prime: So we've got to mention that. Matt Hunter's grandpa's there. And he's just...
Zach Sheets: that everyone calls Everyone calls Grandpa, no matter who they are. everyone Everyone's just like, oh, hey, Grandpa. What's going on?
Chris Prime: And it's... Just like... I thought he would play a bigger part in the movie because they... They kind of keep him in the background. I thought he'd at least have like one shootout or do that. Kind of like older.
Chris Prime: Quiet. Like... dangerous moment where at the end he he joins Matt and they like
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm. Yeah.
Chris Prime: Protect something? Nope. It... it's It really takes the win out of you because... It's like... like not even a like a heroic death it's just like a grenade comes in and it Like.
Chris Prime: Burns that room.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, it's like they have like... like a like a bunch of like dummies in the room and it's just like like you see like the full explosion and it's like everything catches on in fire and they blow up pieces
Zach Sheets: It's like, oh, Grandpa's dad, I guess. Yeah.
Zach Sheets: And then they set the house on fire, and then... they're trying like everyone's trying to get out and then Like. Steve James' is like his other son is trapped in like the attic of the the ranch. So he has to go back in and he gets shot. and like Shot with bullets and an arrow.
Zach Sheets: But then he still...
Chris Prime: Just like. Just for like an insult, you know?
Zach Sheets: Yeah. But then he still managed to like get inside and like rescue his son, and then like Matt goes in after him. he's He's like. Get my son out of here. And then he's like.
Chris Prime: He's like, don't let my son die.
Zach Sheets: So I die and he falls off like the... Because the staircase burns off, so he falls off until the second first floor and dies.
Chris Prime: stairs.
Chris Prime: Then outside, like... Uh...
Zach Sheets: litler Wife.
Chris Prime: Larry's wife is killed.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, and then the cadet met his sister. And then Matt is like, trying to get out the off of the roof of his house with, like, Larry's son, and then he gets shot with an arrow. And it's the craziest like stunt slash.
Zach Sheets: Like, dummy fall? i think if you've ever seen in a movie. We're like... It's just like he...
Chris Prime: They... Yeah, they don't they don't...
Zach Sheets: collapses, and then...
Chris Prime: Cut it. They don't. edit it to make it more dramatic you watch a man try to carry a blatant child dummy down or like a two -story drop.
Zach Sheets: he Well, he, like, instantly loses his grip. but Like, the kid dummy, like, just, like... bangs off the roof, flies off the roof, and then like... like matt The stuntman, like... like can do cover the time man Like, there's, like, a... like a A flip. like is like also bangs up the roof and then But thenre they will they end up on the ground. like pretty much okay.
Chris Prime: They also, like, ADR the kids, like, ugh, like a... Very like.
Zach Sheets: Yep.
Chris Prime: You know, just a... sound effect to kind of like. Make it seem like that's not a dummy.
Zach Sheets: He's okay. Yeah.
Chris Prime: Oh, because they cut to like the kid later on the ground, and he's like perfectly fine laying there. But... Yeah.
Zach Sheets: But then they come up with like... shut up, kid, and then shoot him, too. They've wiped out this entire family. Like, the entire of Richards family is dead.
Chris Prime: Yeah, it's a genuine like... The villains won.
Zach Sheets: oh
Chris Prime: Their mission. Like their goal of like making sure that. Senator Larry is like. Completely wiped out.
Zach Sheets: And then again, if they if they had like done it themselves earlier, they probably would have been a lot more effective than something like this but Parker guy. out to do thing with like Just like a random henchman.
Zach Sheets: Because it's literally just the four of them to just show up and they're like, oh yeah, we burned down Star House, we killed like all these Secret Service guys, we we killed everyone and then captured like Matt Hunter's sister. like we're like
Chris Prime: They're way efficient than your they you think they're going to be.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: I give him credit because... they are ruthless but they're good at their job they're not ruthless by just throwing money at people willing to bend their morals or have no morals to do the dirty work like they are They... They kill their lackey.
Chris Prime: Because he's bad at their job to not be on their level.
Zach Sheets: Hmm?
Chris Prime: And then they go and do it and they. Succeed
Zach Sheets: hu
Chris Prime: Like if they just didn't kill Matt. Like if they didn't leave him alive. They would have won.
Zach Sheets: hu
Chris Prime: but the fact that they're like no we we want to like Hunt you, I guess?
Zach Sheets: yeah you're're good Yeah, you're a good hunt like target for our hunt. so like come find us in like two weeks or whatever when you heal up and then come to this Uh, Abandoned mansion in the bayou where we're having like a zydeco festival
Chris Prime: I kind of missed that it was a two -week difference. and matt Like... completely... Went into hiding. And then. emerald brown is like yeah we completely don't know where he is but we i know he's always out there
Zach Sheets: I love. Like... the next day when the secret service shows up and investigating it and then like the one guy's just like What's wrong with us? How'd this happen?
Chris Prime: Yeah, they're asking themselves now after like it escalated like to this degree.
Zach Sheets: it's like the It's like they knew exactly where where he was. like what What? What is wrong with us? Why are we so bad?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, they have they have no idea. like It doesn't matter. like Missing, so it's just like... All right. We don't know where he is, but if he's out there, he's probably going to like. Do something.
Zach Sheets: And then Hustle Love, when, like, Matt shows up, like, he swims into, like, the the like the the dock. At the village. And then he's trying to, like I don't know if he's trying to be stealthy, but it's like a dripping wet man is like walking around this like Zydeco village that no one's ever seen before. He's trying to be like casually like.
Zach Sheets: Oh yeah, I'm here. I like Zydeco music.
Zach Sheets: And then he finds his sister that they're going to... Like... auctioned off.
Zach Sheets: which i guess I guess it's like like they have to like kind of make the Cajun people... like Because they it's up to that point, it they kind of seem like... kind of cool it's just like oh they're like barbecuing they're listening to like zydeco music they're dancing everyone's having a good time everyone's drinking But then they have to be like, oh, they're going to like. uh auction off you like uh Children for...
Zach Sheets: human trafficking.
Chris Prime: Yeah, all these people are scumbags apparently.
Zach Sheets: Yeah. don't Don't worry if anyone any of them die. like they're They're all horrible.
Chris Prime: I thought... Like. The Bayou community is sort of like innocent and they just don't know any better, but they blatantly know what's going on.
Zach Sheets: yeah like yeah then like like when because they they eventually start forcing them all like into like to go into the water for the hunt and then like the band's like looking like really suspiciously and the evilly and stuff it's like yeah it's like everyone's in on this this entire village is like a pentangle like They pay them or they...
Zach Sheets: Like, work for them or something.
Chris Prime: No idea. Like, were all the men that, like, Matt's been killing... from this community.
Zach Sheets: Maybe. It's like they're henchmen recruitment pools. let say They go to this village like, all right, who wants to come and like do a job for us?
Chris Prime: Who wants to earn their pay? and like That's not great. that i I said earlier, like, it doesn't really paint louisians Louisiana and like New Orleans in a good light.
Zach Sheets: Who wants to kill this guy? We'll pay you in a bucket full of crawfish.
Chris Prime: That's why. In... Van Damme's version of this movie. Uh... Our target. Which also...
Chris Prime: Think about it. They also have the the like. Crossbow?
Chris Prime: It's like a thing and And... our target.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, someone was hard hard or hard In Hard Target, they like do like that... Yeah, something that has a crossbow. It's like, like Lance Harrison has that like special, like, it's like the competition pistol or whatever it is, where it's like the one with the one shot.
Zach Sheets: You have to go through every shot.
Chris Prime: The high -powered competition.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: that's good But I'm saying, like... At least in their version. Uh... The uncle is like the Bayou person. And he's like the good guy. You know?
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm. Yeah.
Chris Prime: And... uh the the stalkers and all that they're like a traveling group you know they they're not from this community.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, they're all they're all rich assholes who like would like normally hunt like elephants or rhinos or something. Now they're hunting humans. They're paying to hunt humans.
Chris Prime: But in this, it just seems like this is just Bayou culture.
Chris Prime: So, yeah, then. I mean, at this point it's just the last act, which is pretty drawn out. uh it's not like a quick 10 minute fight like this He's like. The. The last... 25 minutes of the movie?
Zach Sheets: Well, it's like... He has to go to like a boss gauntlet. He has to fight each guy like immediately after to next the next... It's like one of the areas is just to fight the each of them.
Chris Prime: It's a little bit out of order because... It should have been like. I don't know. like The Gator guy first, because you think he's going to be. Super just like...
Chris Prime: brute strength and all that and then mad hunter's ability to trick him into killing himself is like a thing
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: But it's not. It starts with, like, Kendo guy. Or like, you know... Ninja guy.
Chris Prime: Which... It's... Fine. Like, it's... A cannon fight. The choreography is... For what it is, it looks nice.
Zach Sheets: I like that like that Michael Dugov finds like a perfect bo staff. It's a piece of wood. It's like a a perfect bo staff in the grounds.
Chris Prime: Yeah. Maybe it's from the last like. You know. Hunt?
Zach Sheets: He's a big, like, Manhunter's a big, like, bo staff guy in this movie. Like, that's like his go -to weapon is like a big, like a big long stick.
Chris Prime: yeah It mixes it up so it's not just a sword. Because they give him a sword at one point, but he drops it.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, pretty much it's still, yeah.
Zach Sheets: I don't have my American Ninja skills anymore.
Chris Prime: Oh yeah, that's not this movie. Or maybe it is. Who knows?
Zach Sheets: Yeah, he fights the ninja guy, then pretty much immediately he like he has to fight... Yeah, like jab, like the... who doesn't have his like gator claw thing he's got he just has like uh okay because
Chris Prime: A bow gun.
Zach Sheets: It's crossbow and then like a giant knife they never ever gets to use.
Chris Prime: He almost does, and then just... Doesn't. And then Matt just doesn't bring any of the equipment he finds. He just leaves it.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, like take yeah take their take these guys' weapons. like Take that knife, take the crossbow, take the sword.
Chris Prime: Arm up.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: It's not like a... Okay. Every fight has to be like... A gentleman fight.
Chris Prime: And yeah, he kind of mows his way through the group pretty easily.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: Granted, he's not injured. I mean he's hurt. But... There was a scene in the beginning where there's another unnamed character. That takes on... Jed.
Chris Prime: And he kind of holds his own. like he
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: He does pretty well.
Zach Sheets: I think he was.
Chris Prime: That's what I'm saying. These guys, uh...
Zach Sheets: He was like... so
Chris Prime: one -on -one are terrible. but As a group.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: Like. Ruthless.
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.
Zach Sheets: yeah then he and Yeah, he fights and he fights so he fights like... the The first three guys take manage to take them all out, either kills them with their own weapons or like some sort of environmental... Like, on like a.
Zach Sheets: I think it's like Laval, like he like the ninja guy, like... flicks into like a a sharp like stump on the ground and it's Like, punctures him.
Zach Sheets: But then... he gets He gets to, like, the same spot we saw, like, the first two guys that were in the hunt. Like, they get to this spot where it's, like, you've crossed this river. or Like, you there's, like, a... civilizations on your side, like a highway that you get to.
Chris Prime: Highway.
Zach Sheets: And then. Uh... What? The leader of the group, Glastonbury, is like, underwater? like which How long has he been underwater just waiting for Matt to show up?
Zach Sheets: like think He doesn't even have like a like you know like a ninja like breathing stick or anything.
Chris Prime: Breathing device, yeah.
Zach Sheets: He's just just like underwater. like I'm out. He's on his way, I'm gonna hide underwater and wait for him.
Chris Prime: Well, maybe he got in the water and ducked. Slam? Because... Again, as a main villain guy, he is... Surprisingly spiked. like capable.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, and his go -to weapon is a... The, uh, like, the g -ro - like, the choking wire.
Chris Prime: I mean it's his favorite move.
Zach Sheets: Which he... Hmm?
Chris Prime: I don't know his reveal at the end where he like starts laughing and he sounds kind of like goofy a little bit.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: So... he's definitely got the maniacal like oh this guy is crazy but he's capable So you know it's like a fair fight.
Chris Prime: I swear, I kind of want him to be like Richard Montalban.
Zach Sheets: You can't record about the money, yeah.
Chris Prime: Right? Ricardo Montalbán, just like... Just sort of like giving a speech and then... Being like a gentleman. Villain?
Chris Prime: But... it evolves into him just like... Like, just like... Grunting. and getting very light. Southern with it.
Zach Sheets: Well, it's... It's hilarious where, like, so, like, so Matt stabs him and then, like, he, like, runs off and then Matt and Sarah are able to escape and get rescued. And then Matt Briggs was like the shared that secret service. And they like.
Zach Sheets: But like... put her in like whatever, they have a hospital or something there. And then he's gonna go and like hunt down Glastonbury to like finish him. and I love they're like They cut to like Glastonbury. I don't know how soon this is after like the hunt, because Matt still like it is covered in blood still.
Zach Sheets: so say it's like not even It can't be that soon after like the the hunt is finished.
Chris Prime: The next day.
Zach Sheets: But Glastonbury's having a full like dinner party with all those like other like you know like his supporters.
Chris Prime: Racist friends.
Zach Sheets: And then I love like it's like so like his other his already three guys are dead. This hunt failed, but he's like doubling down and being like, you know who was right? Hitler. hitler was Hitler was right about a bunch of stuff.
Zach Sheets: And then Matt shows up. This is like, like, he's just like, oh my, my, like. Uh, my hunting group failed to exaggerate this guy but like i'm like just double down be even more evil than before
Zach Sheets: And then you he invites Matt up to like, it's like, let's let's let's go to my weapons room and we'll have the fight there.
Chris Prime: And then meanwhile, that dinner party is still going. They're probably hearing everything.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: They're like, it's fine.
Zach Sheets: He's got this
Chris Prime: Our leader is... He's capable.
Zach Sheets: yeah so it's kind of like just like a fun like it's like they each like picking up different weapons and using them for like a little bit and like fight each other like spears and bases and swords and stuff like that.
Zach Sheets: which It's always fun to when you have like like a weapons room scene where they're just like grabbing whatever's on the wall and like using it. John Wick did it a lot. like so It's like that scene where Johnny's got all those knives. He's like throwing constantly. like That one room is all knives.
Chris Prime: Oh, it's like the best place to have a fight in.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: It like. It like explains plot wise, like why these. Things are happening and not just like. they stumbled upon a weapon supply cache like It's a trophy display, but all of them are functional trophies and not just decorative.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: It would be funny if next time they have like this. idea in a movie where it's like another trophy room fight it's just like all of it is just like Party City props and stuff.
Zach Sheets: yeah And and and like the villain's like surprised by it. He's like, I got sold fakes? What?
Chris Prime: Yeah. It's like
Zach Sheets: I'm going to kill that dealer.
Chris Prime: I paid. I paid. Like... thirty thousand dollars for this dagger this like sacred dagger like you know it's just like a binge like what
Zach Sheets: Yeah, but then it but then like they end up in like the the main... I mean, like, Entrance Hallway and, like... Glastonbury, he started strangling him again. which and He's got he's got like the like special like ring this time where it's like he can like like use that to tighten the garrote.
Zach Sheets: And he's he's got, I mean, he's got Matt in the ropes, but then Matt like sees like, there's like a, like a. Some sort of like African spear statue statue your spear right near him.
Chris Prime: African. statue yeah I go. Which it doesn't make sense for these group of like... far right right wing would keep like This many things that come from different cultures.
Zach Sheets: I guess they they they appreciate weapons no matter where they come from I guess or something.
Chris Prime: Hate the people but they love the tools I guess
Zach Sheets: But he manages... Yeah. And they may like may just like fling him out that spear and kills him. And then he leaves, which... I wish we had a scene where like the guy, like there are probably people like come out. and like see it was like Or we're going to cut to them being like, where's where's where's our host? Like, is he doing okay?
Chris Prime: Or they open the door and they just see the dinner host just, like, impaled.
Zach Sheets: Like, impaled, yeah.
Chris Prime: And they're just like, oh. I don't know. I kind of like that. it speeds to it because at that point it's like oh You know, they're going to get to.
Chris Prime: uh matt's like revenge speech
Zach Sheets: huh
Zach Sheets: Well, he he suspects that, like... Because only the Secret Service knew where like that they were going to bring Larry and his family to like Matt's ranch. So like someone in the Secret Service told the Pentangle. So. their Their mysterious fifth member is, like, probably in the Secret Service. And he's, like, heavily implying that it's Admiral Brown, who's, like, his like but the former boss.
Zach Sheets: who And he's any airron is like very shifty and suspicious.
Chris Prime: Oh, he's like uncomfortable, the idea of Matt.
Zach Sheets: He's like sweating.
Chris Prime: continuing this.
Zach Sheets: like Pulling on his collar.
Chris Prime: I'm surprised Matt's like...
Zach Sheets: Wait, what?
Chris Prime: you know, Third. sense like you know the other senses kick in and just like he just stabbed emerald brown
Zach Sheets: Mm -hmm.
Chris Prime: It's like I knew it was you. Just that's it. Just give me that closure.
Zach Sheets: But instead he's like, I'm going to go, I'm going to the pentacle still. I'm going to go find him and take him out. And then. and it It ends like a TV show credits. It's like a freeze frame. It's like... This episode of Fetching Force.
Zach Sheets: It's like...
Chris Prime: Yeah.
Zach Sheets: The crits are like tiny in the bottom.
Chris Prime: I wish. I wish it was either like that or like... him burning down the racist, like... Clubhouse.
Zach Sheets: That would be cool. we like Like, yeah, all the guys, like the... other guys in the build like the house like you burned down my house i'm gonna burn down your house
Chris Prime: Yeah, yeah. That would have been more poetic. And then... you know, it's implied that The fifth. member of the pentangles like in there but burns and then it kind of leaves her like a you know, what's going to happen next.
Zach Sheets: hu
Chris Prime: But we don't know.
Zach Sheets: but yeah but's but that's pretty much it's it's running for us Yo. typical like you know solid canon this is what you This is exactly what you want from Canada.
Chris Prime: Agreed. It's like... the most canon Film I've seen. Like, for just the how crazy tragic and violent it it gets for, like, all these...
Chris Prime: Like. Side characters. i haven't really seen that in a while So.
Zach Sheets: like Where every character gets killed.
Chris Prime: Yep.
Zach Sheets: In like horrific ways.
Chris Prime: I mean, it kind of had For like... Like a feature -length movie. You get like, oh, maybe they'll... They'll spread it out or whatever. It's like, nope. One scene, Matt's alone.
Chris Prime: Like completely alone, but like. They really pick apart Larry's family. They're just, like, gone. you know, like it. Super sad.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, they get they they get really like way more specific in this one because... Invasion USA, that like there's like horrible stuff happening, but it's not really anyone related to like Chuck Norris.
Chris Prime: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: It's like they're like going down like suburban families. At Christmas time? But it's not like it's not like, oh, it's it's like his... father or his family or anything, his friends, like, random people.
Chris Prime: We're friends. it's just the the civilians yeah yeah
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: It's still like an act of terror. And. For this group that's like... pentangle it's like oh they they just like have the confidence they got away with it but they also have the skill And it's them. It's not like they hired thugs.
Zach Sheets: Mhm.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, when they did everything themselves, they're super effective. They shouldn't have delegated anything. They should have just done everything themselves.
Chris Prime: Yeah, the only thing... ridiculous is that they love to play their stalker game.
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Chris Prime: I feel like if they were just an actual terrorist group that... Babe. claim that they are, and they show later. they would have been fine. Like. why why did they draw out like bullying larry for this long
Zach Sheets: Yeah, because like, well, when I guess the election was a couple months away because like Mardi Gras is what, like February or something? so They still have a couple months of campaigning.
Zach Sheets: but like We gotta just get paid now. we We can't let him, like... Make it the... the Senate.
Zach Sheets: would have It would have made sense if like if he was like going up against like their like senator, like their like Heisman Trophy senator guy like that. That was like the like.
Chris Prime: I think that's what it is.
Zach Sheets: because they're from the same like area or something it's like oh he's is's your rival okay we can have get let him get elected
Chris Prime: Yeah, they're in Louisiana. Yeah. I think that was the point is like, because they have a guy. And they don't want... him to They don't want Larry to threaten that.
Zach Sheets: Because he because larry's yeah he's when he gets there, he's going to expose all the corruption and everything. He's going to expose everyone. Like. you know to all the All the corrupt politicians take them all down.
Zach Sheets: but one like One point like Matt like gives like a like he gives like a little speech about like... you know there's some There's some politicians out there that are like... these are power to abuse things and Larry was trying to like stop them I think it was like, he's like in the hospital talking to Sarah.
Chris Prime: Oh yeah, yeah.
Zach Sheets: Which also was like... Sarah was dubbed the entire movie, right?
Chris Prime: Bye. don't know i just think she's not like a great actress because she's like They just you know grabbed whoever.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: There's also like a little bit weird like There's something weird in the beginning with her, too, where everyone's like, man, she's a pretty young girl, isn't she?
Chris Prime: Yeah, and then you don't really know the relationship yet. You're like, what?
Zach Sheets: Like Rampus is like, oh man, she turned into a cute girl, didn't she?
Chris Prime: I don't think you know that's the grandpa yet. When he says that.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, he's just he just like but like like a random, like, uh...
Chris Prime: Ranch hand.
Zach Sheets: raise your hand
Zach Sheets: theyre Like Larry mentions it, like, oh man, she's going to be a heartbreaker when she gets older, Matt. It's like, I know.
Chris Prime: Ugh, guys. I get it. It's the 80s.
Chris Prime: that That stuff was just like... Oh, you're talking about a little girl like a grown adult. Like, ew. That didn't age right. But the violence is like enough that you forget things like that later.
Zach Sheets: And then if we're to believe that Evasion USA is like... a is like an older Matt, then we don't even know what happened to his sister either. disappear like when I did your own thing.
Chris Prime: Yeah, I kind of like the idea that this could be a prequel. But then it's like even crazier of like... like that's a really it makes sense why he just sort of is disconnected from the community because he's like Last time I had friends.
Chris Prime: Like. My house burnt down.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, my like my entire... My friend's entire family plus my grandfather died. In this like like horrific like attack by these... like these that The Secret Service was probably a... when someone was involved with for my agency i move i'm like moved to the everglades and like Be or a recluse.
Chris Prime: everybody. Yeah. That makes sense.
Chris Prime: But yeah, I...
Zach Sheets: It's a...
Chris Prime: What?
Zach Sheets: You know what I just thought about too? It's kind of funny. That. What the... Pentangle is like worried about. which is like, it's like communists invading America as well. Like what if USA, like Matt Hunter, like stopped it from happening.
Chris Prime: And instead of thanking him, they just like... are pissed that they still have problems in America.
Zach Sheets: he's like yeah all these these communists and what happens if all the mexicans uh Yo. There's 20 ,000. What if they decide to, like, join Mexico and, like... to like Rise up? like What's going to happen then?
Chris Prime: Like but what happened in like, it makes sense as a. Follow -up to Vision USA where they're paranoid.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Chris Prime: from having that happen again.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, it's like... It's like it actually happened. Like they invaded us. they They blew up Florida.
Chris Prime: That's something like on paper? Not bad. Everything else around it, eh.
Chris Prime: But, yeah. Just super underrated for premise and in action beats, but... I don't know. I feel like this movie needs more recommendations so they can actually have Avenging Force 2 and tie up.
Chris Prime: loose ends but it's just so much time has passed
Zach Sheets: Yeah.
Zach Sheets: We need a Third Man Hunter movie.
Zach Sheets: so so I could have seen this being an episode of Walker vs. Ranger, too, where Walker has to fight like this... like secret secret society in Texas of like far right far -right fascists that are hunting people.
Chris Prime: Do you like... this was a plot. Like this does feel like four different Walker movies put like episodes put together.
Zach Sheets: And he's got a niece or something, or a young girl that's in danger. And like, Trevette is like running for office or something. He's like, I'm running for governor.
Chris Prime: It's like Very classic. action beats so Yeah. I definitely could see that.
Zach Sheets: I mean, yeah it's like. the the oldest The oldest action movie plot in like existence, like the most dangerous game.
Zach Sheets: That was like created like 1912 or something. I think the most dangerous game was like published.
Chris Prime: Yeah.
Zach Sheets: But I mean, it's i mean it's it's like a perfect like action movie plot of like, oh, these guys are hunting humans, and like but then they picked the wrong person to hunt.
Chris Prime: But for but here's the thing why the bayou it's like all the time for the like the last Classic action 80s. early 90s stuff, just like... Have them hunt in the bayou.
Zach Sheets: Yeah, I mean... I... Just, like, it would just suck to, like, you have to walk through the swamp and, like, you know, your feet are getting dress soaked. you're Like, you're getting covered in mud. Like, there's insects. It's just, like, not a fun place to, like. do like this hunt that you're like every like However often you're doing it.
Zach Sheets: You're saying like... Alligators could attack you. Snakes. I'm sure a ton of poisonous snakes are in the the swamp.
Zach Sheets: Ticks that have, like, diseases.
Zach Sheets: I just, just like, like. when they're like it's like getting thrown into the water and like getting covered in mud it's like oh man this is This must have been like... but The most horrible movie to film. Like, just, like, constantly soaking wet.
Zach Sheets: and just like yeah like insects are biting you like it it must have been this like absolute like nightmare to film this movie
Zach Sheets: I bet I could do this. I'd be like, no swaps. Next movie, no swaps.
Chris Prime: i mean it makes sense when they went back to american ninja movies and just completely Uh, Did not take place in any. buy you at all.
Zach Sheets: I want to be the city. On pavement, no swaps.
Chris Prime: Well, technically... Wasn't the first movie in the Philippines, which was like swampy weather already?
Zach Sheets: I don't know if it's, I mean, it's probably humid, but there's it's not really swampy. it was like It's like jungle.
Chris Prime: Sure.
Zach Sheets: So I don't think you you he was getting like... like absolutely like drenched. like He wasn't like at this movie.
Zach Sheets: He was in another movie called River of Death.
Zach Sheets: It was like a... on the amazon it So... I'm sure that's probably like that was probably like a similar experience for him. I'm just like, I'm getting like i like like absolutely drenched in this water.
Zach Sheets: But yeah, Avenging Force, it's on Tubi. because like Of course it is. This is like the place is like like the like perfect movie.
Chris Prime: Yep. yep Which, If you just want to spend it. Afternoon watching a whole bunch of... action movies that take place in like One man versus whatever. like because It recommends a whole bunch of movies after this.
Zach Sheets: Mm hmm.
Zach Sheets: I got one that keeps popping up for me. It's like Deadlocked with Rutger Hauer. Where he's like in like a future prison. guess i mean it's like But it's also like a jewel heist movie or something where he's it's like steal a jewel from this prison.
Chris Prime: Interesting. That's definitely like a just let them... To be take over. what it wants to show me.
Zach Sheets: Yup. Turn it off. Tubi take the wheel.
Zach Sheets: But yes, I think that'll do it for this week's episode. Come back next week. We're going to be... hanging to raccoon city and talking about resident evil because the new uh zach crager resident evil movies in hitting theaters so we're were to Go back to the original.
Zach Sheets: Paul W .S. Anderson movie. And. discuss how, like... not related to the games really it is at all.
Chris Prime: I mean, it had potential to, but we know where that went.
Zach Sheets: It's a... uh Outside of like the most like the most basic plot of we're in a creepy mansion that has like a secret lab under it. And there's zombies.
Zach Sheets: And it's also like very heavily, it's obviously like the matrix.
Zach Sheets: But we'll get it all next week. And then, however, we got news, reviews, trailers, all over. regular features up there so that Remember to check all this stuff out. And yeah, so for Chris, I'm Zach and we will see you next week.
