Speaker: Take a break. Go fuck yourself. That's the new Kit Kat advert, isn't Four fingers, baby.
Speaker: Hello everybody, welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5.5e D&D podcast set in the magical home-brewed world ah of Aerith. We are with the Winged Watch once more, and we have the wonderful Will playing Lady Lobillia, Vovarus, Garda.
Speaker: I have normal toes. We have another Will playing the human bard rogue Alessio DiMaggio. Why are we talking about toes? We have Ian playing the elf ranger Caelan Ashwing. Good evening, everyone. Hope everyone's doing a grand job at Stern Alive.
Speaker: And we have returning Darren playing Remigus Modmillian Fizzlebang. I don't know what I'm saying. I'm just going to toe the line. why Terrible, terrible. However, speaking of towing some lines, let's see how good people can toe the recap. I'm going to give it there over to Will Wan playing Alessio DiMaggio. I shall call you Wan for now. ah fuck Please tell us what happened last week.
Speaker: ah Last week, we had certain things so um something. and been sneaking into the underground... lady g had been sneaking into the underground ah area, the underground cellar of the tavern. Uh, then we had, our wonderful, uh, sniper on the roof provide cover through the, uh, through the windows. Cailin, he shot some people. It was incredibly cool. Alessio and lady G did some bluffing.
Speaker: Alessio made a friend and had a guard captain to be a friend. um Alessio and Lady G were quite, didn't do very well in that fight. Alessio went down. I mean, but then but then but then Lady G's ah familiar killed the main bad guy in the room.
Speaker: ah Not even at my full strength, my guy. That's my plus one. Yeah. um And ah everything worked out. Caelan did some like sniper shit and was like dive through the air, firing arrows. It was it was very cool. um You know, taking an arrow from a dead body, using it to shoot, that kind of thing. yeah listeners You can go back and listen to it and you'll see how good it was. Yeah, I got quite yeah got quite the body count from that. i did.
Speaker: And then after that, Alessio and his ah new friend, because he managed to charm someone, we basically broke the DM's fight because we managed to get people to, like through suggestion and charm, not fight properly. We then put one in a cage ah because yeah he thinks Alessio is his friend and Alessio is quite happy to that person die now. And now Alessio and Lady G have told Caelan that things are fine downstairs and they are now speaking to the Dragonborn that is also a prisoner in the cage next to Remy who's been unconscious for the whole thing. we don't know if he's dead. I mean, we might just leave him. like he He doesn't like he's breathing. So, you know, we'll go.
Speaker: Might be a very short episode for Darren, but yes, that was ah very good, though. Well, thank you. Thank you very, very much. um Caelan, you are obviously making your way through. Now you've had the all clear slowly, so I'll bring you back into this room ah just in a second. No, no, no. Are you point? Are you guarding? Yes, my guy. So where we last left Caelan on the Fellowship of the Tabletop, he was staging, ah setting up post- On the outside of this establishment to keep watch of the two guards that Alessio and Lady G took the form of because they went off to the pub, which is called the wandering tavern, the whispering tavern with the pillow, whispering pillow.
Speaker: And naturally, they're going to eventually come back. And Caelan wants to be the first to know this. So let me know. But I'm not going to be privy to anything going on other than the fact that we've all got our um connection going on. We have. We've still got like an hour and a half of it left.
Speaker: Ian, you should do the recap. That was pretty detailed. Thanks, man. Ian's personal recap was fantastic. I never get asked. like You did get asked last time. You got you told me to listen to the previous episode.
Speaker: Ah, that's true. You should listen to the previous episodes, guys. If you haven't, what the fuck are you doing here? Let's be honest. You mavericks. You mavericks of the internet. Just select one random episode that comes up on Spotify. We appreciate you. Hopefully you stick around. This is good. And we have many hours of content. You just like click back.
Speaker: Click back a little in there. But until then, stay around. It's cozy by this fire and we hope you enjoy. Hey, what's the other group doing, Callum? So the other group there, Ian, thank you very much, has currently just engaged in conversation with, as Will said, the yellow dragon more that is in the cage next to Remy.
Speaker: He's called Tempus, isn't he? He is called Tempus, Will. Thank you very much that, Callum.
Speaker: You made quite a short work of the garbs. Impressive work. It's what we do. Clearly. Would you be committing to let me out of this cage?
Speaker: I mean... don't think it's proper to release one from one's cage when one cannot be trusted. Who are you, Tempus?
Speaker: Tempus is who I am, and if I may say so. How can one prove one's trust if one is confined to a cage in the first place? I think we leave him here. Get Remy. Is Remy living? I'll go have a look in a moment. You have to understand, Tempus, you're in a cage. Don't get wrong, you've been put in cage by bad people, so that is a point in your favour. However, don't know you, you don't know us, and we've got shit to do, so we need to know more about you to decide you're going to a hindrance or not.
Speaker: Perhaps riddle me this, Tempus. why have you been locked here? I have intentionally sought out my capture to a certain degree.
Speaker: Oh, he's one of those people. He likes being captured. Oh, I've heard of the sort. Chains. Yes. Perhaps, but that is unrelated to my current situation.
Speaker: I have merely been paid a decent sum of money by a certain individual who, I'm afraid, under every circumstance, must remain nameless. I had been told to sort out untoward things that were happening in Riverfold.
Speaker: I had been able to determine a large portion of what had been happening, and I was successful in getting myself kidnapped and escorted down here, exactly where I believe my enemy was hiding.
Speaker: Henceforth, this is where I am now. Okay, okay. Good game plan. How are you going get out?
Speaker: There were preparations that were put in place that unfortunately, due to their precautionary missions, have now rendered to null and void. Okay, so you had no fucking clue how you going to get out. you were just winging it. Okay, cool. i satisfied I believe your troop does the same. ah Just a very quick question that I have for you. Seeing as though we're friends, Lady de Belia says, looking at this figure and casts the cantrip friends without any form of component. i please make Can they please make a wisdom saving throw?
Speaker: Wisdom saving throw, yes, I absolutely can. Something think I'm... Don't know why I've not got my dice prepared. that's's gone for friends should have gone for char Should have gone for charm person. Mate, I've got both.
Speaker: Lady Lobelia is locked in. you use Why waste a spell slot when I can just use a cantrip? Very, very true. Especially at this slate especially at this stage. okay da we got a long Roll, roll, roll, roll.
Speaker: seventeen who Sorry, this usually works. Bear with me. And she'll do some kind of acting based warm-ups. Does he know that's her cast trying again?
Speaker: She's going to stretch one arm, kind of pat out her intercostal muscles to kind of, you know, help ah with her vocal warm-ups. I said we're friends. I'm going to cast it again I'm going to fucking doing it.
Speaker: but yeah I mean, he's aware... The the dragon's are aware this is happening, isn't it? That's how this works. Well, okay, so you use it at the will. Oh, wait, oh shit, no. No, no, no, he succeeds. If I've already cast... If I've cast this spell on it within the past 24 hours, it doesn't say whether it succeeded. Yeah, it doesn't work if I've tried to cast this again. So it's a one or nothing. But it says when the spell ends, the target knows it was charmed by you. He succeeded, so he wasn't charmed. Therefore...
Speaker: Well, it's up to you, but I don't know whether they would know. i tried But you cast it at will. Yeah. Which means you don't use any components. Correct. You don't even have somatic components, verbal components, or anything like that. It's got ah the material components of some makeup, ah which Lady G would have upon her person and or face already.
Speaker: But it depends whether you think that that should be kind of in her hand properly. But the because it's a warlock spell and with her great old one patron at the current level that she's at, I can negate any somatic or verbal component.
Speaker: Okay, so with that in mind then, yes, I think, I don't think they would be aware that you just attempted to cast a spell on them. That's correct, that's what the rules say, I just looked it up for you. oh Because it has no it has no perceptible effect, therefore the person has no idea. There's nothing to see, there's nothing to see. so She'll try and cover her her losses and go, we are friends, aren't we?
Speaker: You and us. Well, one supposes that would depend if one were to unlock this cage and permit my exit. Yes, of course, because we have the same benefactor, do we not?
Speaker: Not that I'm aware of. I'm afraid I am not aware of who you people are. Oh, good point. ah Who's your benefactor? I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to discuss this. Well, sometimes that works.
Speaker: Intelligent, this one. Intelligent. You've clearly not come across many intelligent beings in your time. Are you wanting us to wing you out of there?
Speaker: That seems a very odd adjective to use. I perhaps might have just gone with unlock. Well, a actually, it's a verb, I'm afraid. So if we're playing the intelligence game, my friend, one nil. Bravo, Will. Bravo. Calling me on my knowledge of the English language.
Speaker: Snap, snap, snap. Excellent. So ah what Alessio is going to do, as Alessio has been talking to this guy, i'm going to be trying to utilize like basically thieves cant in a winged watch-esque way of slipping in certain words, phrases and and and hand gestures that are quite subtle to to try and see if this person is actually a winged watch member as they're talking.
Speaker: As like a any kind of conversation goes, they don't know if you want to have a particular conversation in mind. If you are dropping hints like that, they are not picking it up. Cool. Okay. I don't care about the person then. Fine. Okay.
Speaker: Good. They're not... there' something Okay. So were this benefactor, they pay you well? Upon successful completion, yes. Ah, so you don't have the cash on you right now? I have taken minor deposits.
Speaker: The rest is on completion. Okay, okay. I mean, if we knew you who your benefactor was, we maybe you could do something, but we've got shit to do. And he points over to Remy. ah We do. We do.
Speaker: Yes, maybe have a little think about how you can best persuade us to release you from your chains. I'm presuming this would potentially be of him interest. And he's going to reach into his pocket and pulls out a handful of gold.
Speaker: ah Alas, gold, I have plenty. Perception check, how much gold he carrying? You can do a perception check if you want to try and get an amount.
Speaker: I'll take my pass for 17. So you can't tell how much he's carrying, but in his hand, probably about 100. Okay, okay, okay. And all he's done there is literally scoop into a satchel and drawn out a big yellow dragonborn clawful.
Speaker: It is rather odd that they did not frisk this one when they locked him up. I do agree. A bit weird. I'm going to open up Remy's... Gold is of no interest to these people. What is of interest to them? He says that he's opening up Remy's cage.
Speaker: Unfortunately, it is people. Yes. um I'm going to go over and check Remy. It's all right. Do a medicine check on Remy. 18. 18.
Speaker: eighteen
Speaker: ah You can tell he's alive. He's unconscious. Seems to be under potentially some remnants of a magical effect that's kind of, to put it in a meta way, having the incapacitated condition.
Speaker: Okay. So he'll wake up in like 1D4 hours with a hit point. Okay. but um um Okay. Okay. I am prepared to help your friend if that is more of a... um incentive to permit me to leave the cage.
Speaker: ah You see, the issue that we have is my friend here, Alessio, he can make daggers appear out of his anus. I am not sure if you are able to do the same. Thus releasing you might not be in our best interests. Again, i ask you to decide how to make us trust you. And the name of your benefactor, or perhaps your mission, or some other reason might help us in releasing you from your current situation.
Speaker: Again, I'm afraid my benefactor must stay between me and them. My mission, however, was simple. There has been chaos within Riverfold. I was investigated to find out what was going on.
Speaker: I henceforth have come to the conclusion of these people. I was investigating further into what they were doing, why they were doing it,
Speaker: And eventually getting myself captured and coming down here was my only option. Nevertheless, I have been down here a few days at this state. They have not found it within their interest to use me for their experimentations yet.
Speaker: However, I am fully aware of what they are attempting to accomplish. Oh, well, that sounds useful. Alessio, that sounds useful. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was about to say, yeah, yeah. And and that is.
Speaker: Yes, please do continue. I will continue upon opening of the cage. That's a shame. Would you like to do this the hard way there, Tempus? Nobody would prefer the hard way. What is your name, my dear?
Speaker: Me? yeah Well, some call me the Orchid. and she looks at you.
Speaker: Well, looks at Tempus. Yeah.
Speaker: His eyes, you you notice a certain reaction to his eyes, and he tries to hide, but it's almost like a one-raised eyebrow. Aha! So you have heard of me and you know of some of my talents.
Speaker: Reputation. No. Very well. Alessio, I have certain spells at my disposal that might prove useful in trying to get this one to talk. However, I'd rather, you know, he talk of his own free will and just give us more information.
Speaker: At present, I don't see any reason why we should release him. And she's saying this purposefully, kind of... so that you're all over here. yeah And Alessio is like, I agree. And he sort of walks over the cage.
Speaker: You see that guy over there and he points over to the the guard captain that's still his friend. When we leave him, what I'm going to do is one by one, I'm going to put the torches out until he's literally so sitting in a pool of light with nothing around him to keep him alive.
Speaker: And then I'm going to go stand by that ladder and then I'm going to turn to him. And I'm then going to turn the lights off on him. So he sits in the darkness and dies very slowly.
Speaker: Now, if you want to join him, feel free to keep playing hardball or let's come up with some information.
Speaker: Roll, well, your choice. You can either do persuasion, although I think I probably more lean towards intimidation on this one. I think, actually, yes. I think an intimidation is a must on such a horrific statement, let's be honest. What the fuck?
Speaker: That's an 11.
Speaker: He's going to look you up and down just for wee moment.
Speaker: Aside from... A few minor scrapes. You have not really injured anybody within this building that I'm aware of on this ground floor.
Speaker: Instead, opting for getting them to injure each other. While I do not doubt that you have the capabilities of combat, I do not believe such dark actions would be within your person. Plus, one must also consider...
Speaker: unless you have successfully eliminated all said guards, they will be coming back and they will eventually find me. So your threat is null and void with the knowledge of such things.
Speaker: I mean, you'll still be stuck in a cage and they'll eventually deal with you. And just as he says this, he's going to use prostitutization and several of the of the torches around the room just start going out. um And he turns to Lidgy, I'm done here. I'm i'm good. Honestly, I'm i'm good.
Speaker: And he's going to go over and start picking up Remy. Yes, you should probably you should probably take him and head up. Now, ah once more, Tempus,
Speaker: hu I understand somewhat of your predicament, but I am still a little worried for my own safety around you, so I could have it that the key is transported to you, she'll say, as she kind of takes the key off of Alessio and hands it to her invisible imp ah so that the key... i Actually, if the imp's holding it, think the key disappears and just vanishes into the air. Right.
Speaker: And have the key appear for you to release yourself from this cell as and when we depart. But again, i just need more information from you.
Speaker: Before I can do so, what's been going on down here? What have you seen? What's with the bubbling concoction in the middle and the scary person that held me in place against my will? I'll let you do a persuasion check for it.
Speaker: Okie dokie. Come on, Lady G. Now's the time. Smoke them if you got them. Persuasion. Oh, it's a plus seven. Yes. Right. Okay. Let's make this a good rule.
Speaker: me. Hit me. Yes, it's a non-natural 20. non-natural 20.
Speaker: The nice approach seems to have more of a positive response from Tempus. Good cop, bad cop is what that was. is All planned. All planned. It was.
Speaker: So shit roll, good roll, you know. um yeah
Speaker: The experimentation.
Speaker: These people down here are working in accordance with somebody very powerful.
Speaker: The experimentation is to find the correct way to do an ancient ritual.
Speaker: That's it? An ancient ritual? You asked what the experiment was for. Well, you seem to know more, boys. Speak. I do. ah The tension is killing me. I usually love a drama, but this is very droll.
Speaker: May I ask if I were to tell you everything that I do indeed know? Yes. What is stopping you from leaving me here anyway? My word, Tempus.
Speaker: My word is my bond. I give you my word that if you truthfully tell me what you've seen in here, the key shall appear at your feet no less than fifteen seconds after we have departed the ladder.
Speaker: Tis a promise.
Speaker: How about more of a incentive for you? I have heard of many secret passages in this building while the guards have talked. I can advise you where they keep some of their supplies.
Speaker: Gold, food if needed, weapons.
Speaker: I am perfectly capable of giving that information to you completely free of charge, mostly because it it is of no use to myself.
Speaker: You may do with it as you wish, and if that would earn your trust and permit me the key, then perhaps we can talk about the information that I've acued.
Speaker: You're so eager to find out, I'm presuming our
Speaker: goals are aligned. One would hope, but I have places to be and the clock is ticking. Then I would hurry up and make a decision. Yes.
Speaker: ah Well... Alessio's going to talk into your brain now, telepathically, because Alessio's taken Remy over to the to the to the ladder and he's just propped him against the wall. And Alessio was just like looking at the the guard and thinking, we better loot these bodies. um And he says to to Lady G, just let him out.
Speaker: If he's a dick, we'll kill him. It's fine. At this stage, he can give us some stuff. Let's just... eight if its If he's a dick, Cailin, between the three of us, we can kill him.
Speaker: Very well. Very well, yes. Bring him up. Bring Remy back upstairs and get him back on his feet if you can.
Speaker: i will send the Lord Bentley to release this very frustrating dragonborn, although he's rather handsome. From his bonds.
Speaker: ah We'll have that information as well, Letio shouts from the lad. You know, their storerooms, that kind of shit. We'll have that. Yes, the free ones. Give us that first, then we'll release you, and then you can converse with Lord Bentley, all that you know, we'll be gone.
Speaker: I'm unsure as to where stopped communication between the heads and then actually talking out loud. Oh, that was me out loud. Sorry. Give us the free stuff. Okay, okay.
Speaker: Upstairs, there is a wall of trophies. You will have had to come past one to indeed make your way down here. If you look to the south, there is one of a basilisk. Pull the fang on the right. Okay.
Speaker: Very well. And when we release you, more so than if, do you intend to make your way up the ladder afterwards, or do you intend to go down the ah other routes out, she says as she kind of motions towards the sewers.
Speaker: con Confused as to your question, it'll look over. I have seen some of what has gone down there. I have no intention of following them. My route out would indeed be behind the ladder.
Speaker: Very well. I would implore that you do not try to follow us. You have seen what we can do to brigands. And trust me when I say there are more of our number dealing with those upstairs. It would not be in your best interest to cross us.
Speaker: Your warning eluded. Very well. Bentley, the key. And I'll have the imp kind of turn visible again and plod instead of fly over towards where the cage is to to hand the key over.
Speaker: And Tempest happily takes it. Your help is appreciated. And your honesty will be appreciated. Begin. i'm going to carry Remy up the steps, up the ladder.
Speaker: ah Well, but but as you do start to move... um
Speaker: Tempest holds a hand up to you. Perhaps wait one moment. I still made you a promise. I can relay the information instantly and simultaneously. I presume this person is your comrade. Am I correct? you not interested in having him awake for this?
Speaker: Oh, what? are You intend to? Oh, of course. Alessia, bring him down. Bring him down. well Watch his head. Goodness, this little gnome. yeah but but Okay, fine.
Speaker: Lay him at the feet. Do you need him on the floor? You may continue to hold him if you wish.
Speaker: And he's going to rest a hand over him and he's going to cast you a nice cure wound spell. At ninth level. He's like a secret guard. and That's a touch spell, so I've got to come over with to you.
Speaker: Yes, yes, yes, yes. um But you 20 points of healing, Remy. Ooh, tasty.
Speaker: my God.
Speaker: um i mean dragon know that you Oh my God. I'm being helped by my friend. oh Oh God. I'm so sorry. It's okay. Remy. And let just strike your head I got you buddy. He's going to turn. He's going to grab your shirt with a look of like pleading guilt in his eyes. it's a I ain't Custer is the mission ever.
Speaker: No, no, we're good. good We still have time. don't know yet. just Just hold on. We're trying to find out some information, and then we can hear about your grievances. i mean, don't get me grateful. ah Don't get me wrong. I am grateful that you're all here, but I hope it ain't at the expense of the mission, or I would be mortified if it was. or ah but
Speaker: Lady G, you're you're still with us. Oh, I don't have the silent spell. I don't have it prepared. Do you? I don't. ah but Remy, we'll catch you up. A lot of stuff has happened. It's okay. We will catch you up, buddy. We've not, the the mission's not failed yet. We're okay.
Speaker: This guy woke you up. He's a bit judgy. He's going to give us some information. it's fine. We're going to go upstairs. We're going to go get some stuff. Cailin's watch on Overwatch. Let's go. Come on. Right then, I'm going to, just give me a minute. I'm going sit down while You two do what you got to do and we'll sit down. No, no, no. We're going upstairs. Don't sit. Unless you're like lifting him up. No, we're going up the ladder, up the ladder, up the ladder.
Speaker: Come on, drunk friend. You know what, Sio, sometimes it's as fun to ride you as it is folly. Wait a minute. Where is the raptor? He disappeared after you disappeared. Just not now, Rebbe. Please fuck off so that we can hear what this person has to say.
Speaker: As Remy and Alessio stop making their way towards Alana.
Speaker: Does it what? It's podcast. Does what? It's a podcast. Describe it. Describe it. I can't see the amateur you're doing there, Darren. I didn't want to talk to the DM. I'm sorry. Remy does the impression of zipping his been a while, Darren. It's been a while. It has. It has.
Speaker: It has. And Remy's not the drunk one, by the way. It's ah actually me. No, it's not. Go. Go. Sorry, Callum. ah ah so You do the zip action over Remy's mouth and Alessio and Remy start making their way towards the ladder. And just as you do, you hear a noise, just kind of a low chitter.
Speaker: come from the very, very top of one of these columns are in this room that Alessio has been used to hiding. And there's a very kind of slender figure that's wrapped itself around one of these columns at the very top, and it jumps off towards Remy.
Speaker: And as it does, you see two kind of large ears that spring out as it starts to just glide down in an attempt to get to ah Remy.
Speaker: It is in fact a creature known as a flying rabbit, very, very rare one within these realms.
Speaker: It's ridiculous. Who'd have such things? Oh my lucky stars, I know those eyes anywhere. Folly you get on over here boy. You are so... Look at that. I fought it.
Speaker: I fought it when I went down and I went out. I like they ain't gonna try and kill my raptor so I'm gonna turn him into a flying rabbit and then they think he ain't got no. Frit to them.
Speaker: Oh, it's so good to see you, boy. Yes, you it is. You watch what you're clear, boy. oh Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. This could be really worth doing because he may have seen something. So I'm going to cast speak with animals on folly.
Speaker: Okay. And I'm going to go, and um ah how long you been up there, boy? Oh, shit, fire. I've been up there since they brought you in here. Oh, well, that sounds like a voice you need to have for your campaign-free character, but we'll come back to that.
Speaker: What did you see while you were hiding in such roof? We're in the enemy's stronghold now. At least I think that's where we are. I've been unconscious for a while.
Speaker: There's a brief moment from Folly that as you're talking to him, and you just hear...
Speaker: yeah Like a really kind of pitched scream that sounds normal everybody else hearing, but to you, it's like a terror one.
Speaker: I get it. I get it. I get it. I get it. Language isn't your first thing, and I'm guessing you've seen something pretty terrible.
Speaker: And he just going kind of nod. In which direction did this terrible thing go? And you're see him just quickly, wrote it kind of runs a bit, jumps up about three foot and then glides down four foot just around this room.
Speaker: And he kind of shows going to the table, to this pedestal that's in the middle, to the sewers that are at the bottom right. And just keeps pointing to this trail of blood that just seems to be richer and deeper as he goes along.
Speaker: That's really interesting. Yeah. ah but but Father thinks to think we should be going this way when we're ready to leave. He apparently has seen something of malcontent that he is not particularly fond of, but it may be of interest to watch.
Speaker: Father, my boy, where you in rabbit form, I don't know if you eat meat. I go to pat down my, to to find like my meat. Oh, my things. Anybody seen my things?
Speaker: Yes, and Tempest is going to pipe up. Your weapons and such were taken away from you and took to the storage place I have just advised your comrades of while they're on their mission.
Speaker: As a forest name, he then glances down and sees like Michelangelo's David that he has a very natural kind of like leaf over ah where his genitals are. And then as he looks down and glances at his bare bum cheeks, he goes...
Speaker: Why am I naked? Or did they wear my clothes as well? They weren't needed for the individual's experimentation. What the hell do you mean, individual experimentation? that this can I'm glad, frankly, right now, Father Pistole Bangalone, you can hear me because this is looking really, really suspicious.
Speaker: I am presuming things have been heard, so perhaps I should start at the beginning. These people are capturing, kidnapping, and experimenting on individuals in order to complete an ancient a dark magic ritual of some description.
Speaker: One thousands of years old. Essentially, as I understand it, it is a willed form of a resurrection spell.
Speaker: Therefore, one would not need to have... another individual cast the resurrection, but upon your own death, you could will yourself back.
Speaker: this Is this Foley saying this to me? and No, no, this is Tempus. He's kind of all right took over. He's explaining to the rest of the group at the moment.
Speaker: It has been planned for some time for an individual individual of great power within Aerith.
Speaker: ah While that's happening, I will have gone and gathered like a a dust sheet or something and just wrapped it around myself. And while I'm listening to this as well as he's talking, if I could, my bouts of drifting in and out of consciousness, I'd like to roll the history check to see if I can recall anything that I may have heard, because I've obviously been in a cage next to this guy.
Speaker: And just if I have anything that I could add to this conversation. Yeah, though that's fine. Do a history check for me. um You would have been in like a a really bad state as well, so you're kind of recalling pieces that maybe have been pieced together. um I will have you roll it at disadvantage because your mind, as you're observing this, wasn't in a full state.
Speaker: Well, fuck you. It would have been a 12, but it's ended up a 5.
Speaker: With the five, you can't really pick up any kind of ah words and such, but you remember parts of the ritual itself where they're basically kind of cutting into ah victims, um taking samples of them. You see flashes of light bodies being stuffed down the sewer ah to the right where folly was actually ah kind of pointing to as well.
Speaker: you have vague recollections of your initial kidnapping as well. And a certain sentence does ring true in your mind. This was more so before the magic kind set in.
Speaker: One of the people who kidnapped you said something along the lines of, I can't believe we're getting paid this much just for doing what we were doing anyway in these uniforms.
Speaker: As I do, I'm like, wait, wait, wait. What you're saying makes sense. They've, um... No, wait, wait now. They're not going around dressed like Shadowmandian folk.
Speaker: They're going around dressed as someone else. I remember that much. And then everything went dark. Like I was i was riding folly, and they weren't a rabbit then. And everything just went real dark, real quick.
Speaker: That is partially true. um they are not part of a Shandamendian League, Army, Guard, do whichever word you prefer. ah More so, they are... They have been hired to basically cause chaos and, most importantly, cause distraction.
Speaker: As I understand it, they have been hired to lure people who may be looking for Shandamendians over to Riverfold just to keep them out of root with something. Interesting.
Speaker: You say my ear gear's over here, and I'm just going to point in the direction of my gear. There is some of your gear over there, but your weapons are still upstairs.
Speaker: Okay, I'm going to get dressed. I'm going to walk over and just start putting on my studded leather armor.
Speaker: Tempest is going to lean into Lady Garden. I had no idea your friend sounded so...
Speaker: uncouth
Speaker: Was in this one, and she points to Remy. Indeed. I'll be honest, I don't know him too well. I only met him about four hours before he was kidnapped.
Speaker: Hmm. As much as I appreciate you getting out of that cage, I'm starting to question whether you should have rescued him at all. My thoughts as well. He specifically put the fingers over his lips as like a I'll stop talking motion so we could hear this. And then he looks like he's been squeaking towards a squirrel, some sort of flying creature.
Speaker: Very strange. Do we burn this building to the ground? It sounds like an awful room of death and torture. This was my plan, most certainly. Grab a torch and make yourself useful.
Speaker: Alessio, Remy, let's go upstairs, find the treasure room, and just get out of this place and set it ablaze.
Speaker: As we go past, I'm going to just skim come up to Tempest, and just going to go, if you want to know about my level of goofness from her a source that perhaps has greater knowledge, you should talk to one or the other two. They've known me a lot long.
Speaker: And I'm just going to start following Lady G.
Speaker: And the group starts to exit up the ladder. Tempus is the last one ah to go up. And you start working your way around.
Speaker: I'll have advised Caelan of everything that's gone on, everything we've learned. Caelan knows. Alessia's given him a full breakdown and saying, this is what we're doing next. This is what we're going to the treasure room, getting the loot, getting out. Just keeping him praised.
Speaker: Excellent. Excellent. And if you have any fire arrows, aim for the thatched roof.
Speaker: Yes. Um... Sorry, I lost my train of thought. My brain has just shut off with the thoughts of fire arrows and Fletch Druth. And I'm all sort of having flashbacks to campaign one and folly in the wall of fire. And just like, oh God, no, not again. This is a torture house and that was an orphanage. Yeah, orphanage, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: We're burning down a house of evil. You burn down children. This place deserves it. This place deserves it. um You start making your way up. You come into the main room of the hunting lodge um ahead. you I don't know what Caelan's doing ah at this moment, if he's just on point, on guard in one pot, or if he's kind of walking, patrolling around. me help you. let me help you Please do enlighten me.
Speaker: As we last left Caelan at the fellowship at the tabletop, he was staging a position outside of this place, looking towards the whispering pillow for sign of two guards that Alessio and Lady G took image of. And eventually, eventually, they will want to come back when they realize that they've been lied to and they need to come back. Caelan's going to be the first person that sees them.
Speaker: That is my story. That is it. Full stop. This is where I am. This is where I end. This is where we need Caleb.
Speaker: That's that's asph for wonderful. Do I get inspiration for my recap? No.
Speaker: Basically, no. um You're in the main hall. You have all the monster trophies and Tempest gestured just over to the south facing wall. It's over there if you'd like to try.
Speaker: Tug the tooth, Alessio.
Speaker: Alessio goes over to the basilisk and gives us his tooth a tug.
Speaker: And it just seems to lean forward a little bit and very much like the passageway to the side. There's another bit that opens up, slides back. And there's probably only maybe like a five foot by ten foot space.
Speaker: You can see a chest. In here, you see some shelves on top with plenty of rations. And you see a few things just kind of wrapped under a cloth on the right-hand side.
Speaker: I don't know what Alessio is saying. He seems so dumbstruck he's muted. I'm going to look under the stuff under the cloth first. And with the dramatic flourish, you whisper away the cloth.
Speaker: And it's time for a bit of fun rewards. I want everybody to roll a D4 for me, if you please. who What about the person who's currently outside, stationed? On the last time we saw Caelan on the fellowship the table. Including Caelan on the outside. Taking Caelan's loot. No.
Speaker: Including Caelan on the outside. This is what is going to be underneath. Um, so Alessio, you unveiled, we shall do you first. What number did you get? i got a three.
Speaker: You got a three. Um,
Speaker: you see in front of you a very, very light kind of opalescent fabric armor.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: it's It looks more like a vest with a kind of zip, but it's got a certain shine and shimmer to it, almost like it's reflecting light from its ah from every angle.
Speaker: These are all custom items. I have granted you my Invisi armour, which is a crap name, but there we go. i couldn't think of anything else better. um Upon wearing this, you have a permanent plus one to your AC.
Speaker: Ooh.
Speaker: ah We'll all go with Will. Other Will next. Other Will got a one, baby. Will got a one.
Speaker: That's not too bad a one for you, in all fairness. um that it's deciding I've got loads, and it's deciding which one you actually get. You get an amulet with a yeah tiny animal horn on the bottom of it.
Speaker: ah Custom item, it's the Horn of Ferra.
Speaker: um basically, while you are wearing this, and these are all instant ah items for you to play with, and you have advantage on all charisma and deception checks made within five feet of your target.
Speaker: Very nice. I like playing with my horn to get charisma checks. ah That's why I give you advantage when you do that. ah Remy, what did you get?
Speaker: I rolled four. Ooh, you get a four. You get the Rapier of... No, you get the Rapier of the Beast.
Speaker: Next to your normal Rapier, there's a second one. One that seems a little bit more dramatic, ah decorative, but it's got like almost an animal's claw as like a handguard onto it.
Speaker: And... as a beast master, you can three times per long rest, you can add your beast's attack roll to a normal attack roll.
Speaker: So I think your beast was 1d8. So when you do an attack with a raper, you will add 1d8 to that. Rapier. That's big difference between that and raper. That's a right very important distinction there. Did I say raper? You did. My apologies, everybody. Rapier. Rapier.
Speaker: that That's really, really... Move on! Move on! really shit so You know what? Caelan! Caelan! Hold on, hold hold on. Just come back. You got a three.
Speaker: Yes. ah You get the bellowing bow. oh shit! It is a long bow with an arcanic description on the inside.
Speaker: And... What's the description say? It's in Elvish. I can't read it, but you can. I can, so what's it saying? I don't know. um You'll find out what it's given. its arms switch long its wait Hang on. It says every hit counts as a crit No, it definitely does not say that. I like the approach, but definitely no. um Three times per long rest, you can enchant one of your arrows to do an additional 2d6 thunder damage in a 10-foot range.
Speaker: And on a con-saving throw, if they fail it, they are knocked prone. Fucking hell.
Speaker: Oh, so the armature got. Three times per long rest. Three times per long rest, you can enchant an arrow.
Speaker: But then i I can't use whisper anymore.
Speaker: No, that is entirely up to you. And what's the name of this one? The bellowing bow. It's not as cool, but I'll take it. Thank you. Don't have to. We've got make it break now. We'll bring we'll bring it out to you, Kalen. Don't worry. We'll carry out. Oh, no, I tripped. It's broken good anyway.
Speaker: Kalen, can I just confirm that mine is a plus eight when i'm it's basically an additional D8? It's an additional D8 for your attack roll. Every attack or once per turn? No, it's three per long rest you can do it.
Speaker: D8? Just three per long rest. Does the beast have be close? or is it just No, the beast doesn't have to be close. You don't have to be mounted. You can do it anytime. It's part of the weapon feature rather than part of the beast.
Speaker: the the the The armor, Callum, that's a plus one AC to my existing AC, yeah? Yeah, yeah just override your current AC with an additional plus one. I will do indeed. Thank you, guys. Okay. um What's in the chest?
Speaker: You open the chest and you find a stash of money. If you want to take it, you are very much welcome to, and I will tell you how much is actually there. ah Does the Pope shit in the woods?
Speaker: um I will, of course, take the money. It's a quite weighty chest, um but you've got 2,312 pieces There go. two thousand three hundred and twelve that'll go into the party pot done that there you go i Obviously I'll take the rations That kind of stuff We'll ration ourselves up Okay I think we're good
Speaker: Shall we now set it ablaze Yeah sure there's booze over there This place will go up like a fucking tinderbox I'm just going to get outside first I don't wish to be inside when it burns Nor do I wish to raise The flame myself I'll leave that in your capable hands I can take care of it And he's just going to encant to himself. And you're going to start seeing red just kind of come up on his throats. And he's going to cast dragon's breath on himself.
Speaker: And as he talks you, I would begin to leave now. i have some work to do. And before he even waits for your kind of response, he's just breathing this fire straight onto the bar ah where all the flammable like alcohol is.
Speaker: And there's like this little explosion that comes with it. You can hang around if you want to. I said wait till I was out. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Oh, shit. She'll hurry up. I'm going as well. That's fucking terrifying.
Speaker: Cool guys don't look at explosions. So Alessio is just going calmly walk out the door, thinking about his friend that's downstairs in a cage about to cook alive. Oh, well. yeah Yeah, he's still there. You've left him in there. He locked himself in. He took the keys away, but he's still happy he's your friend. Yeah.
Speaker: For as long as he may live. It's going to be in the next 20 minutes. Lady G leaves, she'll just go, did we forget someone? Just carry on. Alessio's like, but nope.
Speaker: You step outside and you see Caelan waiting on point. Alessio's going to like wave a bow at him and like point at Caelan and then be like, oh yeah, we can do the mind thing. Got a bow for you.
Speaker: Thank you. What's the plan? Well, we should probably find a place to stay that might not be good best to stay in town.
Speaker: I mean, we've got loads of money now, so we could go buy some shit if we wanted to. um ah But we do have a place to be tomorrow.
Speaker: Okay. Let me know. I'll start with a connaissance.
Speaker: like house How's Remy? He looks towards Remy. He's good. oh wow You can't hear any of this. It's all in our heads. Oh!
Speaker: You're deluded. I'm sorry. To update you, Remy, there's a nice and look lovely a little mind connection thing going off between those three that I think was three hours, four hours? Two hours. last two hours at last I went the wrong way. um And yeah, they've probably only used about...
Speaker: 20 minutes of it so far. And the problem is obviously, you've got to be near me when I when i cast him. And Alessio's going to sort be looking at Caelan and then look down ah ah down down to Remy. And Remy's going to know probably what's happening. And Alessio will say out loud while thinking it, Remy's good. He's recovering.
Speaker: ah What do we think, guys? Stay here or leave town? And he looks at Lady G as well. I refuse to stay in one of your terrible camps again.
Speaker: Okay, staying here it is. we should i didn't say that. Could we not hire a caravan of sorts? We have the money. Surely there will be... we could get escorted armed guards and sleep on the road, could we not?
Speaker: A carriage. Not exactly. Horse-drawn carriage. Not exactly going with our low-key... Like a princess. Yeah, not exactly going with our low-key... Or queen. Yes, that we're looking for.
Speaker: o Well then, I refuse to slum it. So if you choose a tavern, I want the penthouse. Okay, we're going to find a good place to stay. Caelan, we need to find a different place to stay in the place than the tavern that I found you guys in. need to find a nice place to stay for Lady G.
Speaker: Somewhere with a bed. Yeah, he wants she wants a bed. And feathered pillows. Silk sheets. And waiting men and women delivering grapes.
Speaker: Oh, I can see it now. i know just the place. ah Callum, would Lady know?
Speaker: In this ramshackle of a frontier ramshackle town. The fanciest of establishments that's left here. It might not have those things whatsoever, but...
Speaker: Riverfold is not the town for a very, very fancy establishment. However, you are aware of a second place within one that is only reserved for traveling dignitaries.
Speaker: However, you possibly have even done this before with a little bit of charm and slid gold, wormed your way in there. If there are no current dignitaries inside it, uh,
Speaker: might be a more appropriate place that Lady e G would possibly expect to stay. Perfect. And she'll kind of say across to Alessio, did I see you on cast the spell they sometimes call prestidigitation earlier on?
Speaker: That's correct, yes. Wonderful. And that can be used to clean, right? And she looks you up and down. When I need to, yes. Good. Well, the establishment I will take us to will require you looking your best. And she'll use her minor illusion to kind of make herself once more kind of within her resplendent kind of usual dress that she's wearing, but add embellishments like extra jewels and things like that.
Speaker: Very, very nice.
Speaker: Okay, I can play this game as well. Alessio's going to cast disguise stuff on myself as well. but I'm going to make myself look like um ah a very, like ah like a master servant, like very, very posh, like...
Speaker: footman kind of person you know he he he knows how to play a role he's not going to go for he knows how to play a role he's like right okay i'm gonna be like personal butler kind of guy um you could choose anything and you've gone servant not equal this is generally he can't play the role he knows he can't read This is an early Scrooge moment. It's like, how low is my self-esteem that I'm robbing in my own fantasy about Batman and Robin? And I just picture that with Alessio right now. Alessio, Alessio. No, because servants can go places that the ladies can't.
Speaker: Fuck you guys. Anyway. Lovely, lovely. Just while that has been going off, Tempest has come out and obviously he's not joined your group, but he's kind of nodded to you all.
Speaker: Um... It's going to get very warm and smirky here. I would advise certainly moving very quickly. I will be partaking in the Whispering Pillow as my accommodation for the evening. If there is anything you wish to discuss further, then by all means, you may join me.
Speaker: That's the place where we led the other guards, isn't it? He says in his mind to
Speaker: Caleb and Lady G. Oh, well, good luck to him, I say. And then as they're going, Alessio's casting, using precindication to clean Remy and that kind of stuff just to make sure that... Blood and shit. Yeah, and as you do that, he comes up, Alessio, up!
Speaker: I've only got my ramshuckle studded liver. And he points to like the bits that have been like pitched out from Dralak. He points to like the shadow mendian, you're to scale male. And he's like, well, I can't make myself look as fancy as you. but um I feel awful exposed here. We'll say you're the hired muscle. It's fine.
Speaker: He looks at his arms, which have a strength of nine, are quite scrawny. He'll go, I ain't too short on that one either, but that's okay. It's fine. tell what, I can be a guard. These roads are dangerous. Yes, I can be a guard.
Speaker: Okay, right. Caelan, we're going with Lady G to a posh place. She says we've got to look respectable. I'm done with her. Yeah. That's fine. I'll meet you inside. I'll run around the perimeter.
Speaker: Caelan, I almost forgot. I left my trunk at the Whispering Pillow. Be a darling and collect it for me. As Caelan hears that, he closes his eyes and purses his lips together.
Speaker: I'll meet you your new location. You are very much appreciated. Thank you. Follow me. She'll say to the other two.
Speaker: And you lead them through the town. You start heading north ah to the higher end, and you eventually come across, and rather on the outside, it's a bit unassuming, but from the inside, you know better.
Speaker: There's just one sign hanging out called the four-poster.
Speaker: Beautiful. Lady G will make her way in. i'll I'll open the door for Lady G to keep the illusion...
Speaker: Excellent. You open the door and you are immediately in a rather tiny kind of entranceway. This thing's probably only maybe 20 feet by 20 feet square.
Speaker: There it is one person behind um just like a small desk. you still theyre Almost like a maitre d' type of thing ah at this stage. you Dressed very well, very much in similar clothing to probably what Alessio has picked.
Speaker: He looks up as you enter.
Speaker: And who are you? ah Jerome, tis the masked orchid. I will require my room for the evening. Spare no expense. Pay the man. Pay the man. She kind of moves her hand to motion towards Alessio to pay the man.
Speaker: Alessio knows how this works. A lady doesn't pay themselves. Yes, the servants do it. So Alessio takes out the gold, gives Jerome and that the servant, ah you know thatt that knowing servant level of, yeah, we've been, yeah, you know you how this works. um yeah could Build that bond, build that bond, you know. Tea at six, supper at nine, and I will take your finest red vintage. Three bottles, three bottles, and do please ensure the bath is warmed. Last time, rather tepid, not to my taste. Thank you. And she'll just walk past.
Speaker: Well, as you try to do that, um there's going to be a quick clap. from him. And as you are trying to walk directly past him, a rather burly human steps out still in the same refinery, but you can kind of tell this guy's muscular underneath. This jacket is really, really tight, especially along the chest.
Speaker: Alessio, how much gold are you giving this person? I'd like to take, uh, I'd like to make an insight check or something into the a required expected amount to pay for this kind of thing. Roll for an insight check.
Speaker: He is very, very maintained. has not even smirked anything. His expression has been dull since you walked in. 17 passive will
Speaker: do. 17 is the passive.
Speaker: It's difficult to determine an amount um from your 17 passive, but... but you know, you're talking mid to high hundreds on bribery for this level. You look around, you're taking little bit of the decor um that you can see and the smell that comes through as well.
Speaker: Okay. I'm going to be sort of like... He's going he's going to start counting out like 100 coins, 200 coins, and 300 coins, and just just casting an eye at the guy just to so just to see see at what point we we we get it we get a subtle... We get it we we get a proving... He's not giving you anything, so it's up to you when you want to stop at this moment. I will place 300 on the... um on the ah um on the counter and be like, I trust this will settle the orchids' accounts for now. More can be paid later if required.
Speaker: I'm terribly sorry, sir, but for what the lady has requested, even her wine is more expensive than such amounts.
Speaker: Daylight
Speaker: Are times so hard as these that you pinch me for every penny? Are you so scarce of money that such paltry amounts seem large to you? insult me. Just name your price and be done, and move this brute from my way.
Speaker: With that response, he is going to just turn back to you, Alessio, with a bit more of a expectation.
Speaker: Alessio will look through the man and go, very well. I believe we can write to a promissory note to fulfill the amount. Of course, Lady Orchid would not walk around with so much gold on her. You know what the roads are like.
Speaker: I trust a promissory note to be ah handed in to the local merchant will suffice. And he takes out a... and as a Oh, yeah. I'm trying to bluff him. Deception. from I'd say this is more of a persuasion thing at the moment. You're trying convince him to take an IOU right now.
Speaker: Well, yeah, who's going to carry on that much gold? Okay, i i'll i'll fuck it I'll do the persuasion. can i Can I also say, make sure you make it out in my father's name to try and aid within this deception.
Speaker: Yeah, go on then. i'll I'll give you advantage on it. I'll give you advantage. ah thanks Thanks, babe.
Speaker: ah that's ah That's a 19 then with the advantage.
Speaker: He looks at the IOU that you have passed to him. Well, i'm yeah I'm preparing to write it. If he accepts it, I will write the... Well, he's waiting for you to finish writing the IOU. I'll write the promissory note. An amount that is on there.
Speaker: ah Do a sleight of hand check for me, Alessio, as well. Okay. 24. Okay. What is the amount that you're writing on there? Oh, I know. It's literally a amount for services rendered as defined by the bearer. Blank check. Give the guy a blank check. For a fictional person. This guy's going to catch this in and get a fuck all. It's great.
Speaker: We're committing credit card fraud. yeah but He's going to just kind of scoop up the 300, slide it in his pocket, pick up the IOU, just pick up with a thumb and index finger and investigating it, folds it up, sticks it in his pocket.
Speaker: That is enough, Geoffrey. You may go about your business now.
Speaker: Milady, please proceed. hu Thank you. And she'll kind of snootily walk past and then mentally say across to the others, good work, good work. It's quite a lot of gold. I do apologize. I don't remember it being so very dear.
Speaker: But as you go in this is a really, really plush place. There's like drapes and everything else that's kind of hanging from the ceiling. The smells of sweetened ah flowers just bluster around ah the room. and it seems very familiar to You've got flush, deep carpets that are going up the stairs, across the hallways. You feel at home in this place, Lady G. beautiful Remy, what are you doing just while this is going off?
Speaker: ah Remy would like to make his own deception check as he tries to stand there trying to look as inconspicuous as possible as if he fully understands what's going on when he has no fucking clue what's going on. He is literally just watching this like bewildered by this transaction where gold hasn't worked, but a scrap of paper has. In in their travels, Alessio deals with this, and it's always bewildered Remy. So Remy is doing as he usually does, which is watching this happen and just trying to make sense of it.
Speaker: Okay. Okay. Well, do your own um deception check then. Did you say deception? You try to pass yourself off. You fucked yourself up. I'm stabbing Remy. Oh, I hit the wrong one. the hit nature I nature. was going to say that's good. It's 19. It's not too bad. It's a 14.
Speaker: You get a bit of a peculiar look from the person that Lady G has referenced as Jerome as soon as ah she's come in. And he it gives you, as I said, a raised eyebrow type of thing.
Speaker: I hope you are not intending to stay here as well. i'm I'm the guy. It's a mighty dangerous road out there. war going on. under Oh, this is a domesticated flying rabbit on my shoulder.
Speaker: Alessio steps in. do you have ah servants' quarters? I trust ah her ladyship's suite will have a room for myself, her manservant. But do you have servants' quarters that we can put our help in?
Speaker: and I'm afraid not. You should be all the help that the good lady would require, your servant. I'm afraid we'll have to find alternative accommodation. The hay barn at the back would always be suitable for such people.
Speaker: Alessio just goes over to Remy and goes, Hay barn it is. Really? Hay barn it is? and i feel like As you say, it is dangerous outside.
Speaker: Oh, thank God. And Remy's just going to walk off to the hay barn. I want to go in that stupid, smelly place anyway. We will also have another servant arriving shortly with ah her ladyship's trunk.
Speaker: If you could let us know when it arrives. Noted. Thank you. And Reginald will go to rejoin Lady G. Reginald goes to rejoin Lady G. And as those three people are getting comfy in some temporary accommodations ah for a few hours, we will pan over to Cailin.
Speaker: who's been going out on patrol and reconnaissance. Kalen, please tell me, which way would you like to do first? but So Kalen would have just held back and allowed the others to move forward and then just followed far enough back so that he couldn't be considered a member of the group, but close enough so that he knows where they were fucking going because he had no clue. um Once he's
Speaker: spotted the location to which they go into he's gonna spend some time just as he always does walk in the perimeter of the building and using perception check just to make sure that there wasn't any eyes watching this group there wasn't any um suspicious activity going on he's getting a vibe check and a read on everything that's happening around the building uh yeah so i What do I find, Callum?
Speaker: Well, first, you have to roll for me. Oh, shit. Let's do it. What am I doing? Perception check to begin with, please. ah per Perception check. Cool. How does a 21 do? I can perceive you.
Speaker: That sounds very good for for that for some perceiving. And do also for me a insight check. Let's fucking go now. Kalen's rolling bombs. Yes, he is. That's 21, friend.
Speaker: God damn. I see all. Swear to me You stop going around the perimeter. You are going down every nook, every alley, every cranny. This place is very, very different in the surrounding area compared to where you've just been at the hunting lodge. It felt like the hunting lodge, a place where, you know, a fight could break out and people would probably enjoy the brawl and then...
Speaker: make friends afterwards and have each other drink. This place, people would get shocked if you walked past them too quickly. Wow. It's that kind of feeling. You know, if if people are in a rush, you've got a very, very much lower a sense of urgency all around this place. you are very cautious of standing out like a sore thumb in your normal reconnaissance, but you pick up on this very quickly and you're able to kind of just adapt the way you're doing your reconnaissance um pretty naturally, just make yourself blend in a bit better.
Speaker: you are I too have disguised self. So if I am catching this from an early perception check, I will um cast disguise self myself.
Speaker: And nothing changes ah drastically, but the... The cape that Caelan wears starts to shrink um into a kind of a shawl that had drapes across his shoulders and as that magic kind of carries on down his moss green leather armor.
Speaker: That armor starts to just turn into a dark green, almost suit. Like it's, I guess for, if for country and Western fans out there, it's their attire, which would be instead of a suit jacket, the jacket turns down into almost a, it's not as long as a trench coat hands, just hangs just under hip and then trousers and smart kind of cowboy boots that do the clink clink as he's walking,
Speaker: And he's got this kind of silver fastener on a white shirt. So it's a dark green suit, trench-ish coat. ah And yeah, he'll walk with his posture changed instead of trying to keep in the shadows and hunt shoulders. um He's more straight back as he takes in what's going on. But he's still looking around the perimeter. So...
Speaker: I kind of picture a ah Malcolm Reynolds type of look going off, but maybe in a bit larger type level. Yeah, not so Western. If we could turn Malcolm Reynolds and just cut maybe four inches of that coat off, don't have the sleeves so gaping open. Everything's just a little bit tighter, a little bit more uniformed. But the boots are right, the trousers and the shirt. But make all that white shirt and with a emerald green and a shawl that's just draped across his shoulders. Very good. Yes. Thank you.
Speaker: Lovely, lovely. Thank you. Shiny. You are partaking in all the yeah faces. You are investigating and doing insights into all of them. and Most of them don't really pay you any mind. They seem to be going about their day-to-day business.
Speaker: There is one that catches your eye. There seems to be two people talking in the street.
Speaker: One of them does a quick glance to you, which seems a little bit out of stride for it. And you catch this, but there they quickly get back to their conversation. Okay. ah
Speaker: Am I out of earshot? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're out of earshot. So I can't hear him.
Speaker: you Your insight was such a ah very, very good role. they have They're low talking to themselves. If you carry on pace and stride with them, you will eventually ah come they're walking and then go past. They're kind of walking opposite directions to you.
Speaker: I'm going to keep walking and see if I capture any words. and But it's going to make it look like he's interested in the architecture around him as he walks by.
Speaker: m And eventually this crossing does ah kind of happen between you two. And you're able to um pick up the words of that's where they're staying.
Speaker: This is a little sentence as you walk past.
Speaker: Awesome. Who's the group directly behind them?
Speaker: ah Behind them is a larger group of four. yeahp um How many feet away? Older ladies. They are probably another 15 feet away from where you've heard that sentence. I'm circle behind the older ladies and just ah walk behind them.
Speaker: As long as they're keeping... in the same direction as those two. And i'm going to follow. And if those two veer off, I would ask you again, um, if there's another group nearby and Kayla's basically going to tail them.
Speaker: Okay. Okay. Do me stealth. Yeah. I will do pass without trace first. Do pass without trace. Do some stealth. So cast in pass without trace.
Speaker: And, uh, that's a plus 10 to stealth checks. whoopo Yep. Yep. Is that just a blanket plus 10? Yeah, straight plus 10.
Speaker: You're able to quite easily just slip round behind this group of four elderly ladies. And... you It doesn't take too long for it, but you kind of learn... They break off as the two that you are following go to the left.
Speaker: And you're able to tell them as best as what you can do. Maybe you're just blending into looking into the architecture... hiding near a group of people. it's ah if an ah It's an affluent tap place, right? And you said that um previously that people would get noticed for rushing. So I want to make it clear that Caelan has noticed this and he is walking in step with others. And that might be just slowing every now and then. He's never going to let them get more than 40 feet away.
Speaker: ah He just needs to be in their, he needs their eyesight more than needs to be in their line of sight. Yeah. As said, you were skilled enough to kind of pick up on this. yeah um So I think you adapting as part of the check would be perfectly fine.
Speaker: um You follow them, you tail them, you keep that maximum 40 feet distance. You learn that over the next five, maybe 10 minutes, um that they go round in a circle.
Speaker: Motherfuckers! They're doing what I'm doing! They pass again. um Passed with the four-poster where four poster with the yeah Lady G and Alessio have gone into.
Speaker: And yeah you you keep following them. Eventually, they do kind of break off.
Speaker: I'm going to need... They're going circle a few times. Mm-hmm. And then they're going to move away from this high end part of town and they're going to walk directly south and then slide off to the Eastern part of this city. Okay. And have we still got our telepathic?
Speaker: Yes, it would still be active. Amazing. And how much feet is that? Well, um, into in miles.
Speaker: Creature within one mile of each other. Sick. Right. So as they start to break off, yeah, yeah. But I'm still, this is important. As they start to break off and deviate from that circular route, Caelan's still going to follow until like the end of time. And ah he's fixated and that's his character, Floor and Pro.
Speaker: He's going to shoot a message to Alessio just... I circled the perimeter and noticed that you guys had been watched, seen going in there and comments were made.
Speaker: Two people. And Kalen will then go through a description, currently following them. We'll let you know if anything kicks off. And then Alessio's going to be responding, doing whatever he's doing elsewhere.
Speaker: Do you think they are from where we've just been? Or these may be people looking to rob rich people? Unsure. We'll find out.
Speaker: Okay. I mean, we don't exactly look like ourselves. We did. So I'm hoping. Okay. Ladies and gentlemen, know. Be on your guard. Remy's currently in the hay barn out back. Okay.
Speaker: And Caelan. yes Where's my trunk?
Speaker: It's all you get to that as Caelan doesn't reply and carries on marking his way. Making his way.
Speaker: You follow him walking through city. They don't change their stride. They don't change their gait. Very much as you would expect. Eventually, they get into a very, very rough area, and the nice, like, cobblestone places have just been left now, and it's gone very muddy. As soon as they get into a rough area, Caelan's just going to nip to the nearest shadow, snap his fingers, and that cloak will just, full as it unveils from the... um
Speaker: the duster jacket suit bollocks that he was wearing before. And he goes back into his normal garb. If he's, if they're leaving one area, he doesn't want to look like that precocious prick.
Speaker: um No, that's fine. they They have not changed. They have not changed their stride. They have not changed their gait. They are still walking with the same intensity as what they did back then. And he's got that. He's got the... operatinging so would Yeah, yeah. they were a Fucking, I loved that. I've been thinking about that ever since. So he's got his hood up to capture that sound. that Oh, yeah, exactly that.
Speaker: You are following with due care and intention. You're very aware now that as the road has gone, your feet are making tracks. This is just the kind of person you are. You're aware of everything that kind of goes off.
Speaker: Pass without trace doesn't work like that. I dance over the dust. Pass cast without trace means he leaves no footprints behind him. Well then, you seem to be gliding across this Do you know why it's called pass without trace?
Speaker: It's just terminology. Christ almighty. Give me a break. Go fuck yourself. Um...
Speaker: and escalated yes yes it did i really wish we just killed remy off now it'd have been so much easier take a break go fuck yourself that's the new kicker advert in it yeah four fingers baby
Speaker: you You follow them without leaving a trace, believe it or not, um through a more rougher part of the town. Eventually go down through some alleyways, and you find a rather... You eventually come across them entering.
Speaker: They do a quick look around, but because of your past without trace and because your great stealth check, they don't clock up that you've still got eyes on them at this moment. So they do a quick look around, and they pull a key out,
Speaker: and enter through this really nonchalant type of wooden door, one thing you notice but is that this door seems very heavier than what it actually looks like.
Speaker: So you would possibly presume there's more stuff on the inside of this door that's maybe keeping it a bit stronger than external appearances would suggest. Okay. um Have they slipped through that door?
Speaker: They go in through the door. Right. Caelan takes his... I don't know this is going to work, but he's going to fucking do it anyway. Caelan takes out Whisper. um Yeah, he's going for a Whisper. And this is a really swift action, so I'll probably have to roll for a lot of bollocks for this. absolutely. So as they slip through and that door has opened and it's now starting to close, he's going to wait for...
Speaker: the last second before that door closes to aim an arrow at the ground in between the two edges of that door just trying to keep it slightly ajar and it's going to be one swift movement of taking out whisper notching an arrow letting loose and he's aiming directly at to that point just as the doors meet just to keep it going okay okay first of all then I'll say sleight of hand roll. Okay.
Speaker: This is for speed and accuracy of bow out, arrow out, notch, draw back. Okay. 20. Awesome. Roll for your target, please, as well.
Speaker: Okie dokie. That's just a roll to hit, yeah? Just a roll to hit. yeah're I'm going to presume you're kind of aiming... 22. Kind of into the ground. yeah it's Yeah, it's in the ground. In the ground. um its Like, yeah.
Speaker: You unleash your arrow quiet as anything, and it hits with a splash into the mud just between the door and the beam of the frame.
Speaker: So you've successfully propped it open by one arrow's width. Nice. This is still weighted door, though, and you've noticed that. if it's If you want to act, you've not got long. Yeah, that's fine. He's going to cast another spell. um anddada Let me just check. That's touch, instantaneous, no concentration. Longstrider's back on, 10 feet of movement, and he's moving with Passer-Aus-Trace, Longstrider, and that gives him that extra 10 foot, and he's just going to try and capture that door before it clicks into place.
Speaker: Are you going in, are you just grabbing it? I'm at first holding it. If yeah I've got, if I've got it there and I've got that, he's going to test it just enough by putting tiny bit of pressure on to see if, if he can feel the door just move just enough.
Speaker: ah Pass and stride are both concentration. ah No, it's not.
Speaker: I've literally just said this, Remy, as you're talking on the chat. ah We're going to ignore Remy and his corrections to things that don't really matter. um Yeah, you have, with long stride and pass without trace, you can rush down and just kind of, yeah. but just like like it was With his foot at first, the the edge of his boot, and then his hand against it He's just going to test with his hand just to move the door if that's successful which he said it is he's going to just pop an ear to the crack of the door and he wants to try and get a read if there's anyone nearby through sound only you can hear footsteps even with your passive you can hear footsteps if you want to make an active check you are more than welcome to do so perception yeah perception
Speaker: That's my worst roll at 14. What is my passive? 17. You can hear mumbling. but that It's literally, there's some mumbling, the footsteps of the prominent thing. That's what like. can hear them walking away from Walking away.
Speaker: Aye, cool. He's going to, as quietly as possible, open that door the width of an elf. And you can open that door the width of an elf. And he's going to slide in.
Speaker: And you slide in. And then he's going to close the door super quietly. He is going to take, he's going to...
Speaker: He's going to take an arrow out again and he's going to put it in between the two. As the door closes, he's going to put it in between the locking mechanism. He's going to take the silver tip of his arrow and he's going to, if the door locks, as you close the handle, it releases a metal, um, uh, mechanical latch. Um,
Speaker: He's going to try and place the tip of his arrow in between the one door that has the latch and the other door that accepts the latch. He's putting the arrowhead in between there.
Speaker: And then he's going to just snap off the ah wood, uh, wood, uh, wooding fletching. So it's about, let's say three quarters of a snap down the arrow, leaving the arrowhead a little bit of a shaft.
Speaker: Okay, delicate operation. Give me a sleight of hand. Let's fucking go. Let's just do it. Caelan has been rolling well.
Speaker: 15.
Speaker: Successful. You can cram the arrowhead in and just snap it off with great care. Amazing. I'm going to test the head thoughts at SEO. Yes.
Speaker: ge i ah
Speaker: They've entered in what seems to be a very secure stronghold. I've managed to keep the door open. I'm and will explain how many feet he is from, ah where they're currently staying and the direction self walk down, explain the door.
Speaker: Why don't you know more? Don't get caught. We don't have the strength to get you back before the next day. Should be okay. Just as Caelan is actually reciting all of this direction and route and everything that is followed to Alessio and Lady G, the route for you, Alessio, you play out in your head.
Speaker: you realize exactly where he's gone.
Speaker: You know who is in that building that he has just entered. And you know how they take very unkindly two intruders.
Speaker: ah okay But to find out exactly who that is, you'll have to join us next week for the Fellowship of the Tabletop.
Speaker: ah Oh, it's my guy. It's my guy. Oh, shit. Get out. Get out. Get out. Get Well, shit. It's like the scene in in in the first Mission Impossible. Like, just just just bit ditch everything. Ditch everything. Go. Go. Just go. Burn it all. I hope that you ascend from the ceiling in the next episode, dodging lasers as you do so.
