Podcast Introduction and Host Banter

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome to the Daily Newcastle podcast. If you're watching on YouTube, you'll know that us three can never, ever start one professionally. Ever. Just ever.

Introducing Nick and Character Discussion

00:00:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I'm joined by Nick.
00:00:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was going to say Nasty Nick. I don't know why. Just EastEnders from like years ago comes in, but you're not nasty at all, Nick.
00:00:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Wow.
00:00:22
Jo
wow that's how it's starting

Holiday Tans and Complexions

00:00:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nick's been a lovely one.
00:00:26
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Jesus.
00:00:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I always call her Ginger Jo now because she's so pale and me and Nick are so tanned after holidays.
00:00:30
Jo
um dude have you not seen my little bit of tan like i i was no look i look proper orange because of the lamp to be fair
00:00:31
Nicola Pringle-Adams
She's just so ginger.
00:00:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, you don't have a tanned.
00:00:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was going to not joking.
00:00:41
Jo
No, was in the office today and someone went, you've got a tan. I went, see, some gingers do tan. I'm not 100% ginger, maybe.
00:00:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we're lying here.
00:00:46
Jo
It's 95%.
00:00:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, I think they were fake.
00:00:48
Jo
Oh, yeah.

Newcastle's Interest in Hugo Eketike

00:00:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Anyway, there's lots of lies getting told in relation to Newcastle at minute, isn't there? Look at this.
00:00:53
Jo
oh yeah
00:00:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, normally, for any regular listeners, we do a wild card Wednesday and it's all fun and games, but there's so much to cover with transfers and this whole... Hugo Eketike story, which sounds amazing in a Geordie accent. The fact doesn't convince him to pick Newcastle. Imagine Eketike in a Geordie accent compared to a Scouse.
00:01:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've got to pick Newcastle. um
00:01:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um
00:01:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
But anyway, there's all sorts going on. I'll try and summarise it. So pretty much, Newcastle were really interested in Eketike.
00:01:16
Jo
Okay.
00:01:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was quite quiet. We'd already met with his agent and then... Somehow the press or somebody or journalists or in the nose got a hold of it and was like Newcastle's really interested and all of a sudden there was flight watch happening. There was Newcastle fans posting that there was a flight from Frankfurt into Austria where the camp is now and meetings were taking place. And anyway, it

Transfer Negotiations and Challenges

00:01:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
was true. It was actually right this time.
00:01:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
right We were having negotiations with Eketiki. Anyway, what happens is we make a bid because we've kind of got things agreed with the player and agent. We're very close to being there. We make a bid.
00:01:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's rejected by Frankfurt. We want more money. Shock. i think we bid something like £69, £70 million. pounds We want closer to £86 or something like that.
00:01:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Stephanie
00:01:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So we're 16 million apart. And then, and then out of all clubs, Liverpool. Who do they think we are? They make a bid for Izak apparently around 100 million-ish and say, if you turn down Izak, we will go and get like a ticket.
00:02:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, what is going on i've tried to i've I've tried to put it into basic information um as much as I can.
00:02:16
Nicola Pringle-Adams
The threat of all threats.
00:02:17
Jo
Whatever.
00:02:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got very strong thoughts on Liverpool, but nobody wants to hear my voice for longer than 2 minutes 30. So I'm going to hand over to Joe.
00:02:27
Nicola Pringle-Adams
You're right.

Positive Prospects Amidst Transfer Drama

00:02:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just for two minutes 30 in, Joe. I didn't just pick a random number. It's just me talking for two minutes 30. First off, Joe, Egetiki, we've spoke about him loads in group chats.
00:02:34
Jo
Love it.
00:02:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got no idea what has been said in pod, what hasn't been said in pod. Your overall thoughts and excitement levels-ish.
00:02:40
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:02:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then how do you feel about Liverpool just putting the balls on the table and saying, you know what, we're big him and you will take him off if you don't give us Isaac.
00:02:50
Jo
I mean, shock horror. We're not surprised on the Liverpool front now, are we? and But Ekertiki, I'm going try and keep it positive because i don't really want to talk about Liverpool. um So that was my bit on them.
00:02:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ooh.
00:03:00
Jo
and But no, no, come on.
00:03:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Bye.
00:03:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's a Liverpool story, Don.
00:03:03
Jo
We don't like them. We don't care. ay um so yeah. Ekertiki, come on. It would be an unbelievable signing, especially if, because I'm going to believe that we are keeping these. I'm sick of any of these rumours.
00:03:16
Jo
Please, God, let we be right near staying because how exciting could it be seeing the pair of them playing

Potential Formation Changes with New Signings

00:03:21
Jo
for us. Yes, all right, we're looking at potential formation changes, we're looking at all sorts, but Yeah, I'm um um'm pretty excited, I'll be honest. I know, obviously, they they've said that our bid now has been rejected, but it was always going to be.
00:03:33
Jo
We'll bid like 70 million, don't they?
00:03:33
Nicola Pringle-Adams
86 years.
00:03:34
Jo
Want like 86, it's working out, Axe.
00:03:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:03:36
Jo
It was like 100 million euros.
00:03:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:03:36
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah sick yeah
00:03:37
Jo
So they were bound to reject the 70. They're going to push and push and push, but it also gives the opportunity for other clubs, not just Liverpool, I guess. I mean, Chelsea have got to enter the frame. Yeah, come on, man. They enter the frame for every player, man.
00:03:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:03:49
Jo
Even just for a laugh, they're just like, boom, I'll put that on the table just for a laugh. But yeah, um if we can pull this off, then it's going to be absolutely fantastic. And when I say if we pull it off, by the way, it's all down to where the player wants to go.
00:04:00
Jo
You know, fine. Well, this is very much agent driven.
00:04:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:04:02
Jo
Whatever's going not only the best deal, but is he just pushing for different clubs in England? Who knows? We all know he wants to move to England, but that's about as precise as it's ever become. He wants to move to England and play in the Premier League. So yes as yeah, there's yeah.
00:04:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
only
00:04:15
Jo
But yeah, it's exciting, right?

Strategizing Player Sales and Team Strengthening

00:04:16
Nicola Pringle-Adams
yeah
00:04:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nick is excited and then a a little bit more in Liverpool are you more willing to talk about them since you married a Scouse
00:04:22
Jo
Even less. Don't talk about it.
00:04:24
Nicola Pringle-Adams
oh don't yeah even less don't give him any air time um first of all isn't it funny like I was talking about this the other day to it well this morning to a friend um at the gym the league are absolutely quaking in their boots at the sights of Newcastle signing signing players like this aren't they They are absolutely quaking it and they're just, they're scared.
00:04:27
Jo
right
00:04:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that
00:04:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
They are scared. No one wants to see Newcastle sign two unbelievable strikers.
00:04:44
Jo
It's
00:04:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
but Obviously, Isak and then Et... I can't even say his name. It's like a...
00:04:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:04:51
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Eketike. It's a tongue twister.
00:04:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I got your back.
00:04:53
Jo
gone down well with the Geordies, isn't it?
00:04:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
and Thanks. um
00:04:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
All right.
00:04:55
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I think that's what it is. So Liverpool... ah But the other thing is, Liverpool have been obsessed with Isak since the minute he came to Newcastle. So they've been convinced they've been getting him since the minute he signed his contract at Newcastle. So it's just a little bit embarrassing at this point.
00:05:09
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um
00:05:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:05:11
Nicola Pringle-Adams
and And I don't really want to give any airtime to Liverpool because no matter what we do, they always jump they all jump on the bandwagon. I am not shocked in the slightest that they said, well, you're not going to give a Z-sack, so we're going to try and go for this person too.
00:05:23
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um That's just what they do. Just what they do. Just a threat. Bring on.
00:05:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's it's It's almost like that Mr. Bean sketch in it when he's doing an exam and he's just copying off a person next to him.
00:05:32
Jo
I love that one.
00:05:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's like, where that person who's in Newcastle, right? And you've got Chelsea. Hang on, Newcastle won Pedro. We better sign him.
00:05:38
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Mm-hmm.
00:05:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then Liverpool looking at our paper. I think we better sign him. It's just like...
00:05:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Man United, oh, they want Mbwemo. Oh, we're going to go for him.
00:05:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly, we better get him well, yeah.
00:05:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
All right, it's embarrassing.
00:05:46
Jo
Yeah.
00:05:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's almost It's pretty much, it's pretty much stop Newcastle from signing anybody they want, even if it means we get somebody we don't particularly need. i think Liverpool probably do need a striker, which is the only kind of thing which worries us about this.
00:05:58
Jo
Mm.
00:06:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it is important to give Liverpool airtime because it all hinges on their bid for... I mean, they want Isaac. and Most clubs, top European clubs, want Isaac. That doesn't mean Isaac wants to go. It doesn't mean we want to sell.

Newcastle's Transfer Strategy and Market Impact

00:06:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
and But what is important about them doing that is saying, look, you either give us Isaac or we're going to take your your target. Now, I think it's clever in terms Liverpool because think Ekotiki is a replacement for Isaac, not this summer.
00:06:24
Jo
Yeah, long term, yeah.
00:06:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think if Isaac doesn't sign a new contract, then next summer it might be, well, if you're not going to sign a new contract, Isaac, we've got to get money for you.
00:06:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I agree.
00:06:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it's almost like Eketike gets a year with Izak, he gets a year with Howe. So I think it's them looking at it and thinking, well, you're going to get rid Izak next summer, potentially, if he doesn't sign a contract. Can we take him now when you get Eketike?
00:06:40
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Mm-hmm.
00:06:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
And if you don't do that, we're going to scupper your plans and you're to have give Izak everything he wants and we're going to take Eketike.
00:06:47
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:06:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
So... As much as I hate it for this Liverpool and I hate what we're doing, if it was the other way around and Newcastle were doing this to another club, ah would be like I would be so happy. i'll be on here giving it a big in and laughing at the other club.
00:06:58
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Thank you.
00:07:00
Jo
Wouldn't
00:07:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's very good business-wise and it's very clever, tactical play in the transfer market from Liverpool. But this does create an opportunity now to really, really, really send a message the rest of the league. How about we keep these acting announce a new contract on the same day we sign Agatiki?
00:07:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would send shock. That's like Europe.
00:07:19
Jo
it?
00:07:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're keeping these out. You send a new five-year contract. We've just signed a ticket year for $85 million. come on men, who's next almost? It could, it's an opportunity for club to really stick it to the Premier League and the other clubs and to kind of set a message of these players aren't getting sold and we are going to sign top, top class talent on top of what we already have.
00:07:30
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Mm-hmm.
00:07:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:07:41
Jo
Yeah.
00:07:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're going to talk about in part two, kind of where Ekertiki, if he were to join, would play. I've got a couple of weird theories, I know people talk about formation changes and all that stuff but I don't know if we need to change formation, but we'll come to that in a minute. And we'll also talk about if another player could leave instead of Izak. Because there's another player Liverpool is very interested in from Newcastle United.
00:08:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
And there's been a little bit of talk about him going, well, I'll have to find out after a break.
00:08:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Have I missed something?
00:08:03
Jo
Let's talk about it.
00:08:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's going to keep Nicola tuned.
00:08:05
Jo
so
00:08:06
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Have I missed something?
00:08:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopefully it keeps you tuned as well. We'll go to Bayern. I'll put it in the chat so Nicola can see what we're about to talk about.
00:08:12
Jo
No liver hanging.
00:08:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we'll be straight back after it.
00:08:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Back into the swing of it now. I know when to talk and when the advert ends. Right. So it's been mental. Even this this episode's been carnage. We've just jumped straight into it and we've just killed nine minutes straight away talking about Eketiki in Liverpool. um So another player, just for Nick, who Liverpool are interested in, who could take off our hands to kind of supplement the the fee for Eketiki is Anthony Gordon.
00:09:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I feel like I know this.
00:09:17
Nicola Pringle-Adams
oh
00:09:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, we were linked with him last summer. They were linked with him at the start of last season as well. So, could Gordon make way? And there might not need to be a formation change. If Gordon goes to Liverpool to give them the whole Izak and Eketiky palm off, and we take Eketiky, could it be Eketiky and Izak kind of changing between centre-forward and left wing with Alanga on the right? I mean, that's a dangerous pacey, skilful front three.
00:09:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. If you are going to lose a play, I think the obvious answer is we'd rather lose Gordon, but I kind of want to get your thoughts on would you be happy with Gordon going or do you want to be greedy? Do you want to have six forwards? Do you want Murphy, Alanga, Eketike, Isaac, Barnes and Gordon or are we happy to just give up Gordon just to keep Liverpool kind of at bay? What are your thoughts, Nick?

Fan Reactions to Potential Sales and Team Dynamics

00:10:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm not happy to keep Liverpool at bay at all I want to keep everyone
00:10:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, six forwards for Nick, fair play.
00:10:09
Nicola Pringle-Adams
it's not how you know, we're not here to make mates. We're here to be the best in the league.
00:10:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're not.
00:10:13
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So we're not getting rid of our best players. I mean, there's going to come a point where he is going to go.
00:10:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
But if I'm going to lose anybody, if I'm going to lose anybody to Liverpool, I don't want it to be Izak and us get Eketiki.
00:10:16
Jo
um
00:10:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah get it.
00:10:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'd much rather have Eketiki and Izak and give them Gordon just to kind of shut them up a little bit.
00:10:26
Jo
Yeah, it's an absolute if here, isn't it?
00:10:27
Nicola Pringle-Adams
i get that. Yeah, I do get that. If it's going to be anyone, I would, I mean, i feel bad saying I'd rather Anthony Gordon go over than Isak or anyone else.
00:10:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
I feel bad seeing it well, yeah.
00:10:37
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But, My firm answer is I don't want to lose anyone to keep Liverpool happy. um
00:10:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Six
00:10:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Because at the end of the day, um if this was the other way around, i wouldn't expect us to take that. you know I mean You'd go for what you want.
00:10:49
Jo
and
00:10:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So um no is the answer to that question, Kev.
00:10:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Six forwards for Nick. She doesn't want Gordon to leave.
00:10:56
Jo
Just a no.
00:10:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
She doesn't want to see Isaac leave. And she wants to suspend 80-ish million. like i think yeah But I tell you what, though, if Nick gets her way there, that for me is the number one outcome.
00:11:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think it probably is for most fans. But I think we have to be realistic now. If we are going to make a record transfer signing, surely one of the big boys has to go, Joe.
00:11:18
Jo
That's the realistic thing, isn't it? But I'm with Nick all the way. I think all all fans will be. Let's get real. None of us want to lose any of them, right?
00:11:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah agree. Nope.
00:11:25
Jo
And again, what you said, Gordon is the obvious one. You're not going to want to lose Isaac over Gordon. Some may argue, yeah, but if we lose Isaac, we'll get a lot more money for Isaac.
00:11:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nope.
00:11:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Good point.
00:11:34
Jo
Yeah, but you've got a lot more player as well. So you've got to think about this. It's all like swings and roundabouts, I appreciate. But I think we can still get a pretty penny for Gordon as well. Gordon could almost counterbalance what we end up putting out for TK anyway.
00:11:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:11:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:11:47
Jo
So that's almost like balancing the books, if you want to call it that. Not that I know how that works towards PSR, but again, that's all of speculation, isn't it?
00:11:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:11:54
Jo
ah But no, like, come on. The dream is to keep them all, and the dream is to just have the ultimate kind of attacking team, which is, we're going back to the entertainers years at this point, man. I think we're just going to play like 3-3-4. Never mind 4-3-3. We're going 3-3-4, right?
00:12:10
Jo
ah Here's me calling out for my 4-4-2 that I was craving. Sod it. I want 3-3-4.
00:12:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
It could come back. 4-4-2 could come back.
00:12:16
Jo
oh
00:12:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
It really could come back.
00:12:17
Jo
Oh, um man, you guys know how excited I'm going to get if he just plays it just once. I'll be like, ah.
00:12:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ekertike played in 4-4-2 last year with Frankfurt.
00:12:24
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It could.
00:12:24
Jo
ah He could.
00:12:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
was It was almost like a 4-4-1-1, but it was lined up with a four four two
00:12:28
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:12:29
Jo
I'm calling it 4-4-2 me, like, i'm all day long.
00:12:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
With Mouche and Ekertike at Frankfurt, it worked really well.
00:12:34
Jo
Yeah, man.
00:12:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
i remember lost Mouche and it wasn't the same, and now we're hopefully going to take Ekertike, but...
00:12:35
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It is.
00:12:38
Jo
So exciting, man. Going back to, like, the days of, like, Shearer and Ferdinand and, oh, I'm going way back now. I'm thinking Beardsley as well. But yeah, like even the CeCe and Denver Bar, you know, um I do miss that.
00:12:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
You see him bodies.
00:12:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Same.
00:12:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:12:51
Jo
And I know I do ramble on about the 4-4-2. It's just because I do miss having those two strikers. I think it's great. And I know all these fancy different formations that have come about. And there seems be so many now that I've lost any kind of number formation.
00:13:03
Jo
I think there was one last season that I saw there about five different layers or six different layers or something.
00:13:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:13:03
Nicola Pringle-Adams
same
00:13:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:13:07
Jo
I was like, that's getting way out of hand, man. That's just people throwing numbers in all over the shop there.
00:13:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, well,
00:13:11
Jo
So no, give me a 4-4-2 any day.
00:13:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think football now is so fluid as well. ah Even a traditional 4-4-2 now would almost be like, in possession would be like a diamond.
00:13:19
Jo
Yeah.
00:13:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
You'd have a sitter and then you'd have two and then you'd have a 10 and then you would have two kind of wide forwards with a 10.
00:13:21
Jo
Yeah.
00:13:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's so fluid now, but formation doesn't really mean much because everybody goes everywhere.
00:13:29
Jo
Absolutely, yeah. Yeah.
00:13:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
But since formations don't mean much, let's discuss them for the next 10 minutes. If we get Egetiki, right, if we get Egetiki, there's obviously the option of 4-4-2 and all that stuff.
00:13:35
Jo
Of course.
00:13:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I've seen some wild things thrown around from Newcastle fans. I've seen a 4-3-1-2 with Alanga as a 10. I don't even know if Alanga has ever played as a 10 before.
00:13:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh,
00:13:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
and I do like the idea of kind of a diamond, but I don't know who plays in mid-10 and which winger you drop, or if you play no-wingers and play Etikki and Izak. It's tough.
00:13:58
Jo
and
00:13:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
and So I guess my next question is, can we actually all fit in the same team, or are we better off selling one of our forward players? and Because if you can't fit them all into the right formation, if you if you can't play them or you're constantly changing formations to get them in and you can't get any rhythm within the team, we saw how impressive Newcastle can be when they get the rhythm 10 wins in a row last season,
00:14:08
Jo
Yeah.

Integrating New Players into the Team

00:14:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
11 wins in a row, whatever it was.
00:14:21
Nicola Pringle-Adams
yeah
00:14:21
Jo
Yep.
00:14:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:14:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yep. Hmm.
00:14:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
You can see what we're like when we start to know how we're going to play it and when everybody's doing their job with well-oiled machine. So, Can we come we actually fit in? If we sign Ekotiki, can he play wide?
00:14:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he probably can. I've always said I would like Isaac wide, but when he's just had 27 goals as a striker, that's a brave move to put Isaac back on the left with Ekotiki.
00:14:40
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I genuinely have no idea. I mean, whatever Eddie Howe is cooking, it's spicy, isn't Because you're going to have you're going to have six forward players who we all love and trust just integrating between each other, which will be good man.
00:14:48
Jo
Spicy as hell.
00:14:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
He obviously absolutely knows where he's going to play him and how he's going to play him, hence why he's interested in him.
00:15:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:15:02
Jo
Yeah.
00:15:03
Nicola Pringle-Adams
We're never going to know the answer to that. But the more I think about it the more I'm like, if he does come over the line, is it goingnna is is are we going to get rid of someone like Gordon?
00:15:15
Jo
Yeah.
00:15:15
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Because it's it's kind of looking more likely that now because he won't go to a 4-4-2, will he? I don't know. Will he go to a...
00:15:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's tough.
00:15:23
Jo
But you can chop and change, the that's the beauty.
00:15:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
He
00:15:23
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I can't imagine Eddie Howell going to a 442, but he's full of surprises, so who knows?
00:15:26
Jo
Yeah.
00:15:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
did it at Bournemouth.
00:15:28
Jo
We spent so much of more seasons doing 4-3-3, didn't we?
00:15:30
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um
00:15:32
Jo
like
00:15:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:15:32
Jo
It gives us now such so much flexibility, man.
00:15:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:15:35
Jo
If you think game in, game out, we don't have to be so predictable.
00:15:36
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I just don't know if a 442 suits Newcastle. Yeah.
00:15:39
Jo
But we don't know. And that's the thing, isn't it?
00:15:40
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But we don't know.
00:15:40
Jo
could be experimental.
00:15:41
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:15:41
Jo
We could throw it in one game. Might not work. Brilliant. We'll try a different one. And then, as I say, a look at last season when we played um Arsenal. We put five at the back and it paid off absolute dividends. We went back to 4-3-3 the next game.
00:15:53
Jo
Fantastic. I'd love to see a bit of that. Newcastle, don't get us wrong, we were unreal last season, best season in our lifetime, let's get real.
00:16:00
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Ever.
00:16:01
Jo
ah yeah and But the point is, the one thing I would like from us is to just see that kind of ability to be able to be so flexible and so kind of versatile, but to have all these options at the front, man.
00:16:12
Jo
And like you say, you've got Isaac who can play off on the left, you've got Gordon, Gordon can go over at the right, you've got Eketike who could also play off the left in the middle.
00:16:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's why I'm excited.
00:16:19
Jo
Oh, man, how are
00:16:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's why I'm excited.
00:16:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Are we just going to be switching up during the game?
00:16:21
Jo
Oh, the line is unbelievable.
00:16:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
When
00:16:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Elanga can be left and right.
00:16:23
Jo
That's what I mean. That's it, Nick. You could literally mid-game be like, you go there, you go there.
00:16:26
Nicola Pringle-Adams
he going to be switching up?
00:16:28
Jo
People will be so confused, man.
00:16:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
We're going to turn back and Joe Linton's going to be in goal.
00:16:29
Jo
We're just going to win every single game.
00:16:32
Nicola Pringle-Adams
That's how much it's going to switch up.
00:16:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joel Hinton's going to be left back.
00:16:33
Jo
Imagine, though.
00:16:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joel Hinton at this point centre-half because you have to get in the team, but we're dropping the team apparently.
00:16:37
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Bruno's going to be right back. We're going to just have a complete different side.
00:16:39
Jo
Too late.

Long-term Transfer Planning

00:16:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah think I ah think probably what the thought process was, probably, before we get way too carried away, we're going to win the league by scoring over 200 goals, because I'm getting excited at what Joe was explaining with the fluidity and kind of just we can catch anybody out at any moment.
00:16:48
Jo
late
00:16:52
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:16:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I think probably what a realistic goal was, if we go back to the Eketiki interest, is We sign him. He has a year where he's in and out with team with Izak. Obviously, Champions League games, FA Cup, League Cup. I think was eight group games in the Champions League this year. Obviously, 38 league games. It could be injuries. I think between Eketiki and Izak not playing together, as exciting as it would be.
00:17:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
If we don't play together, we'd probably get enough game time each to be happy for one season.
00:17:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:17:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then after that, you've got a decision to make on Izak. Do you give him a new contract and then have this conversation of... do we get them both in the team now if Isaac's had a new contract? Or is it, well, actually, end of next season, Isaac's got two years left.
00:17:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now's the time to cash in And then we've got our back up already. Egetiki has been here. He's had a year under his belt and he's ready to go. I think that was probably the plan long-term for Newcastle.
00:17:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
yeah
00:17:44
Jo
yeah
00:17:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll cross the bridge of them playing together if Isaac stays, which probably the plan. But with Liverpool coming in and and like, I'm probably not going to put it how I did earlier because I'm not sure if allowed to say i putting as such and such as on the table. The cojones on the table.
00:17:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um... Is it a case of we actually have a decision to make now then? Is it a case of we trust Etiquier from day one and he comes in and he replaces Izak and we've got £30 million pounds in the bank?
00:18:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Or is it a case of we find a way him to play together, we break even and get rid of Gordon? Or do we go down Nicola's route? We're £150 million pound down in terms of losses, but we've got six forwards where we can win the league and take a punishment the season after.
00:18:21
Jo
Yeah.
00:18:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
That is and unbelievable question, and it's really kind of getting juicy with Newcastle.
00:18:22
Jo
Yep.
00:18:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
However, ah do hate the transfer window because of its reason. ah just I just have no idea what's happening now.
00:18:31
Nicola Pringle-Adams
There's just slow, guys, Twitter, X, whatever you want to call it, is like, and it's in meltdown.
00:18:33
Jo
Yeah.
00:18:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ruined it. It's ruined the transfer window.
00:18:38
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So basically, I'm all for, we sign Eketike and then we announce an ESAC contract extension all in the same week.
00:18:39
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:18:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, imagine.
00:18:46
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:18:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Whoa.
00:18:47
Jo
That's what we need to do
00:18:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Let's just keep Liverpool on some strings, put another bid in for Eketike, whatever.
00:18:49
Jo
Put it straight to bed. You're
00:18:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Let's get them across the line. And then the next day, let's say let's announce the ESAC contract extension, melt them all down.
00:18:54
Jo
to have fun this season if we sign him.
00:18:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Nick should just call him Hugo because I think she's never going to get the hang of Edgar Tigger.
00:18:56
Jo
LAUGHTER
00:19:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Hugo, like a tongue twister, I can never say it, honestly.
00:19:01
Jo
Please do, Nick. I thought you going have to go down that
00:19:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hugo.
00:19:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um We've literally got Twitter on smoke. Everyone is having a meltdown. It's bad.
00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, the official news as of now is apparently Newcastle have turned down a Liverpool bid which has caused Liverpool to up...
00:19:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It is bad.
00:19:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
they're kind of trying... I'm literally looking at it now on Sky Sports.
00:19:23
Jo
The threat on a ticket, yeah.
00:19:24
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, okay.
00:19:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, apparently we've turned down the bid and now it's going to be a case of, right, Liverpool is going to focus all the attention on Ekotiki and we probably lose out.
00:19:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Okay.
00:19:32
Jo
Yep.
00:19:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's the way it's looking right now. But I mean, anything can happen. and If we've already met with his agent and we've already met with the player himself, he could be completely sold.
00:19:37
Jo
Yep.
00:19:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
And this is now, like, I want to be part of Newcastle's first... ah FA Cup, I want to be part of Newcastle's first league title in but however over many years and or he could just look up the name Liverpool and think well I want to go there because it's Liverpool, who knows it's an awful, awful transfer window just because of rumours I guess what I am going to ask lastly is
00:19:53
Jo
Yep.
00:19:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No. Oh.
00:19:58
Jo
yeah
00:20:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
oh
00:20:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Whatever happens, I think, personally, you know me, I'm and um a happy clapper, I'm very positive. I think whatever happens, come the deadline, come the close of the transfer window, we will have players who want to be at Newcastle with the best manager we could possibly have and we'll all be committed to cause.
00:20:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
So for me, I'm happy no matter what happens. let's just I just want to say that for record. However, transfer windows, do we get rid of them and just let people make bids any time? Because this would become more normal, wouldn't it?
00:20:27
Jo
you know no no no Kev awful awful that's awful you know why because not a single player yeah I know but ah literally I had this conversation earlier with Marcus and two people actually because was kind of ranting on about the length of the transfer one day exactly what we're going on right now
00:20:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do know all of this talk? It's what just happened all the time.
00:20:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No. Yeah, but look how unsettling it is
00:20:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's what The window opens and people make stuff up.
00:20:34
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah Yeah.
00:20:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's how it used to be. That's how used to be.
00:20:46
Jo
And the fact that it doesn't end until the 1st of September. Now, to me, which is why I definitely don't want what you just said, I think it should be stopped before the season starts or on the eve of the season or at least something before it kicks off.
00:20:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:20:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I agree.
00:20:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Popular opinion.
00:20:58
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I agree.
00:20:58
Jo
Because for me, it's just the unsettledness of any players because the season kicks off and it happens every damn year. The season kicks off, you've still got players all up in the air, people's heads being turned, they don't quite play right for their existing team or some of them in the past, as we know, haven't played at all because they're scared of getting injured.
00:21:15
Jo
in case it scovers said deal so can you imagine that all year long that would be hell man no way no way
00:21:21
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Dude, I can't even deal the fact that we've got month and a half left of this and whether Issa is going to be here, Liverpool, wherever he is going to be.
00:21:25
Jo
yeah exactly no nobody could ever sell literally didn't no it's absolutely unsettling 24 7
00:21:28
Nicola Pringle-Adams
do you think I can handle that nine months the year?
00:21:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
It would become more normal, though. It would become...
00:21:33
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No, it's unsettling. It's unsettling.
00:21:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Twitter slash X is on or whatever.
00:21:36
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It is so unsettling.
00:21:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
It wouldn't be on fire anymore because this could happen at any point.
00:21:42
Jo
No, it would because it would be crap all year long. But it would, wouldn't it? Come on, man. i hate all the rumours.
00:21:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
but but
00:21:51
Jo
I hate stupid X. I hate everyone who rattles on about in the nose and all this.
00:21:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got a theory.
00:21:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Imagine how unsettled he is right now.
00:21:57
Jo
Oh, go on. I mean, I'm not... ah Go for it. I'm not going to agree, but go for it.
00:21:59
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Probably not unsettled he's being linked with 150 million, but...
00:22:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
You may not agree, and it's brilliant to not agree, right? I don't want you to really agree with us because it's much better talking to people.
00:22:06
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'd never agree with you.
00:22:07
Jo
that
00:22:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know Nick, he just, if I say he doesn't agree, I could offer Nick a million pounds, she wouldn't take it off me.
00:22:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
absolutely not.
00:22:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Anyway, my theory is, I've completely got my theory.
00:22:15
Jo
Pushing the ball a bit.
00:22:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
What the hell's my theory? Right, here we go.
00:22:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, look. What a crap.
00:22:20
Jo
You see, it's a lie.
00:22:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:22:21
Jo
It's a lie, Kev.
00:22:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Say it to lie.
00:22:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Liar.
00:22:22
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:22:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
All boys lie. All boys lie. um um I

Theoretical Discussion on Transfer Loyalty

00:22:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
remembered it. Stop, stop, stop. So, at the minute, I've said that I'll be happy at the end of a transfer window because no matter what happens, whether Isaac stays, goes, Gordon goes, stays, goes, Eketiki comes in or doesn't come in or whatever, right?
00:22:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
When that window closes, we'll have, in my opinion, players who want to be there, who are committed with the best manager possible, regardless of who's there. ah believe that. Now imagine if there was no transfer window and it didn't have to close, but you had the loyalty anyway.
00:22:47
Jo
yeah
00:22:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would be amazing. so but but committed
00:22:54
Jo
How are you ever going to feel that the light is there?
00:22:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So because if the window's open all the time, you'll know exactly who's interested, who isn't interested, whether you want to go, whether you're putting a transfer request in or not. When there is a period of no transfers, because a club can't just do transfers every month, can they?
00:23:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
They can't. It's impossible. You would fail FFT.
00:23:12
Jo
But they could. They could just do it at any given time.
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
couldn't couldn't so Chelsea couldn't sign a player for 80 million in January February March April May June and no but I'm saying if they did they do
00:23:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, but Chelsea don't play by the rules, Kev.
00:23:18
Jo
No, not that. But it would be constant talk all the time. It's just the talk and it's the crap and it's the just the...
00:23:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
But eventually the players would be like to the agents, eventually stop coming to me.
00:23:25
Jo
Norman.
00:23:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got this big game coming up. I'm not going anywhere. I didn't go anywhere last bid. I'm committed now. I think you would see commitment come back because we we beg for the days of loyalty. But back in the days when we had players who were loyal, the transfer, there was no transfer window. You could just make a transfer at any point.
00:23:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
And they were just like, I'm sick of hearing about it.
00:23:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Hmm.
00:23:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not going to talk about it. Blackburn can come in whenever they want.
00:23:48
Jo
Hmm.
00:23:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not going. I think it would actually bring loyalty back like it used to in the 90s, like it used to in the 80s when there was no windows. You would just find people.
00:23:54
Jo
I think money's ruined the game, Kev. Sorry for being negative about but think money's ruined the game.
00:23:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
It probably has. It probably has.
00:23:58
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, I agree.
00:23:58
Jo
There's no there's not as much loyalty back then as there was back then. There isn't.
00:24:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're looking for, we've got loyal players now, mind.
00:24:02
Jo
Come on.
00:24:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Bruno, unless it's Real Madrid or Barca, I don't think Bruno's going anywhere.
00:24:04
Jo
We've got some. We've had this conversation. We've got some.
00:24:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think Joe Linton's going anywhere unless it's back home.
00:24:10
Jo
No, Bruno isn't. Isaac could go. Gordon could go. I could name a lot of people who could go from our team, by the way.
00:24:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Izak, my goal, I think in terms of Joel Hinton, Bruno, Byrne, shah even Shah said he wants to end his career.
00:24:18
Jo
Oh, yeah.
00:24:21
Jo
we've got about five max, I'll be honest, who are fully committed.
00:24:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not many players say that anymore.
00:24:23
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah. I don't see Isak going to a Premier League club though, guys.
00:24:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
and oh I only see
00:24:26
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm just saying.
00:24:28
Jo
true, he could hold out for going like Real or something next season, couldn't he?
00:24:30
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I generally, I mean, my husband has just walked through the door and I can already hear him chuckling away.
00:24:30
Jo
Like, he could literally...
00:24:34
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So that's just great. But hello i I hope he's crying when we fucking sign S.T.
00:24:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Izak going to Liverpool.
00:24:37
Jo
I hope he's crying later. Go on, Nick.
00:24:41
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Hugo across the bloody line.
00:24:42
Jo
oh
00:24:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh
00:24:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And then, yeah.
00:24:44
Jo
yeah on
00:24:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And then we announced he's an ESAC contract extension.
00:24:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:24:48
Jo
and
00:24:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
ever thought
00:24:49
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So, yeah. But...
00:24:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
This episode has promoted so much emotion. It's just emotion everywhere.
00:24:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't see Isak going to a Premier League club.
00:24:55
Jo
it's
00:24:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I really don't. But that's just my theory on that. um Again, time and time again, I've proved why I absolutely don't know what i'm talking about.
00:24:59
Jo
Oh, I hope not. Bruno wouldn't. ah think Bruno 100% wouldn't. that's the only I think that's the only person on you our team, by the way, who wouldn't.
00:25:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
agree.
00:25:05
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I know. I agree with that.
00:25:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe didn't want to go.
00:25:07
Jo
But Big Joe probably...
00:25:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm telling now.
00:25:08
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't think... Yeah, I don't think it would go...
00:25:09
Jo
Actually, yeah, the Brazilian boys, they're the two that wouldn't go.
00:25:11
Nicola Pringle-Adams
The Brazil.
00:25:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
He... He could have run his contract down and got a move to like a Napoli or a Milan or something and he didn't.
00:25:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
and
00:25:12
Jo
Yeah,
00:25:16
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Agreed.
00:25:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's like, I want to be at Newcastle.
00:25:18
Jo
yeah.
00:25:19
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Just going to quickly reload Twitter before we start before we stop.
00:25:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, anyway,
00:25:20
Jo
Our Brazilian boys are the only loyal.
00:25:21
Nicola Pringle-Adams
See what the recent is.
00:25:23
Jo
Stay out of Twitters.
00:25:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
you have a catch-up on on Twitter and I'm just kind of going to try and put some sort of
00:25:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Go on then.
00:25:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
kind of finish on this. So, I'm so excited about Egetiki and Izak playing together. When Joe was talking before about a change of formation and intermingling dovetailing and all of that stuff, love to get thrown around players playing in the half spaces and you could have two 10s with a Langer and Egetiki and Izak.
00:25:37
Jo
Yeah.
00:25:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Honestly, the things I see gets me so excited and it makes me think, imagine having another £80 million pound player with a £60 million pound player with a £40 million pound player behind them and a £55 million pound player out on the wing.
00:25:50
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:25:57
Jo
yeah
00:25:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
That to me is like, holy hell, we could potentially challenge for the league here.
00:26:03
Jo
a
00:26:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
However, Liverpool being Liverpool and the big clubs being a little bit scared of Newcastle, have brought it straight back down to earth of, oh, this means we could lose somebody. So, I think as always, before I come back to Nick for the the most up-to-date, I think the best way we can put it is, we're so lucky now, it's not the Ashley era, we're not just going to cash in on players for the sake of it, there will be a plan.
00:26:17
Nicola Pringle-Adams
There's nothing much.

Final Reflections on Trust in Management

00:26:26
Jo
Yeah.
00:26:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think the plan, personally, is to have all of them, like Nick said. into really, really scare the Premier League. I think these people are businessmen in terms of who's running the club there'll be a back-up plan of, well, we can break even if we sell Gordon or we can have 30 million in the bank plus second a ticket if we sell Isaac.
00:26:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
There'll be a business side of it. And then I think there's Eddie Howe's side, which I just trust that bloke no matter what he does. So... regardless of what happens, like I said, when that window closes, we've got the best manager in league, in my opinion, and we've got players who will want to be there. So if he's at goals, he obviously doesn' want to be there. If a ticket doesn't come, he obviously doesn't want to be here.
00:27:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
When that window closes, we'll be all right.
00:27:02
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And then we're done with him.
00:27:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think it's going to be amazing.
00:27:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
That line is drawn.
00:27:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
We said that about like Remy, and Remy came back and had, we fell in love with a lone player, didn't we?
00:27:09
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Don't care. Twice. Your mug is off once, you get away with it.
00:27:11
Jo
but
00:27:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:27:13
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Your mug is off twice. so No.
00:27:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
What's the update on X...
00:27:16
Jo
Oh.
00:27:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um Craig Hope. How much can we trust him?
00:27:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
before we go. Yeah, yeah, Ish.
00:27:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
He's pretty reliable, isn't he?
00:27:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah.
00:27:23
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Nothing in regards... I'm not even going to try and pronounce his surname. Hugo. Nothing in regards to him.
00:27:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hugo, yeah.
00:27:28
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Um... Just that apparently Alexander Isak's situation at Newcastle was very complicated. um He was disappointed that what he thought was the promise of a new contract from previous co-owners was not honoured after they left, um obviously from Paul Mitchell. And obviously Newcastle are adamant they're not wanting to sell and are likely to offer Isak improved terms.
00:27:48
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But it's not yet known if he wants to sign the new deal. Also, can we just comment on how quick and how much noise creates around Newcastle once Paul Mitchell has left?
00:27:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
find a hard belief
00:27:59
Jo
Yeah.
00:28:00
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm here for it.
00:28:01
Jo
I think we're better without a sporting director.
00:28:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not I like ah I like the stability don't know remains to be seen
00:28:03
Jo
There's a bit of ah randomness.
00:28:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I am.
00:28:05
Jo
Aren't we though? Do we not do better business without it
00:28:07
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But honestly.
00:28:09
Jo
The only stability we had, Kev, was when Mandy was here. Mandy left and it's been chaos since.
00:28:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
There wasn't this noise.
00:28:14
Jo
We know that.
00:28:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
There was normal noise about Isaac, but there was noise about a new contract as well. i felt I felt it was a bit more calm about Mitchell, but to be honest, I don't know. It's hard to tell. He signed so many young players, right? In five years' time, we could have these people who were like kids who were like 21, 22 coming to the first team who he signed, and you're thinking, actually, he was brilliant. He did that at Spurs as well with Pochettino when he brought through players like Dele Alli and stuff. So I think Mitchell's time needs to be judged in about four or five years when them players are old enough to break into the first team.
00:28:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Have you found any updates, Joe, in terms of the TK Izak situation?
00:28:42
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Agreed.
00:28:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because it's just kind of just changing it every five months.
00:28:46
Jo
Nah. I don't think we're going to get any real... I'm i'm just going hang fire until there's anything solid. because Again, it's just a case of loads of people in the know when they're not. um And then news outlets kind of latching onto it.
00:28:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Keith Downey's the one listen to.
00:28:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
great
00:28:58
Jo
Yeah, well, that's it.
00:28:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Keith Downey's the one listen to. move He kind of knows.
00:29:00
Jo
I just want to listen to professionals at this point, I've got to be honest. So, yeah.
00:29:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
We bet a lot.
00:29:03
Jo
Otherwise, it's just recycled rumours, isn't it, really? But, yeah.
00:29:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
we better lug off then. Anyway, if we're not professional.
00:29:10
Jo
Wow.
00:29:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
I am...
00:29:11
Jo
Well, no.
00:29:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:29:12
Jo
We never claim it to be, though.
00:29:13
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Alanga looks really great in his first training session, by the way.
00:29:13
Jo
It's the difference. We are not in the know.
00:29:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
He does. He does.
00:29:17
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, he does.
00:29:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
He looks banging in a toon top.
00:29:17
Jo
Oh, yeah, does. Yeah, he does.
00:29:19
Nicola Pringle-Adams
oh he does.
00:29:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
He looks great in toon top.
00:29:20
Jo
that Yeah, he did. yeah
00:29:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right?
00:29:22
Jo
Kev, I'm going to send you something after this pod.
00:29:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, I don't want to see it. I don't to see it. have two children who may look at my phone. Be kind.
00:29:28
Jo
You know it's not that bad.
00:29:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
he knew. but he know
00:29:30
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Jesus.
00:29:31
Jo
You know, I've dropped my Geordie there.
00:29:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Anyway, let's just finish it with, hopefully by tomorrow's episode, right? Eketiki has confirmed. Izak's new contract started negotiating and we're going to win the league, right?
00:29:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
That could happen.
00:29:44
Jo
Imagine.
00:29:45
Jo
Or by tomorrow.
00:29:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm very excited at this thought.
00:29:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Thank you.
00:29:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can't wait. Anyway, listen to tomorrow's episode. We'll try and stay as up the date as possible. But I mean, in this case, it's borderline impossible. Adios.
00:29:57
Jo
Adios.
00:30:04
Jo
you
