Speaker: Hey Ben, making a podcast is pretty tough, right? Yeah, you gotta like record stuff and then you gotta upload it and it sucks. I know, it's a fucking bummer and it's a lot of effort, but I just found out about Anchor .fm, which lets you record and edit directly through their website or app, as well as upload and publish to platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Speaker: So anchor .fm is not a porn site, right? Not yet, because it's still free, too. So, you know, they'll start charging once they got only fan style content. That's good. That's good to hear. So if you want to jump on the train before it's all titties and pussies, download the anchor app or go to anchor .fm to get started. Every day.
Speaker: Coaster enthusiasts are being ejected from events for breaking park rules. Line jumping. Filming POVs. Stealing park property. All examples of actions these enthusiasts believe they should be able to get away with because they have more subscribers than credits.
Speaker: But you can help. For less than five cents a day, you can ensure that these enthusiasts receive a hard stapling and even harder trim braked ride. We here at Your Favorite Coaster Sucks have made it our personal mission to make sure every single one of these enthusiasts gets a shitty buffet and a very special ride on the new Texas Giant.
Speaker: Please consider making a contribution to our cause by visiting patreon .com slash Your Favorite Coaster Sucks. Together, we can cancel Theusies forever.
Speaker: It's easier to believe in this sweet madness. Welcome to the worst roller coaster podcast on the internet. Now, let's join Ben and Zack as they tell you why your favorite coaster sucks. Hey, I'm Zack and I'm now a married man.
Speaker: I'm Ben and I'm I'm still me. And we got to go. Make everybody go. I'm John and I actually shockingly rolled a roller coaster this year. I'm Jamie. What's up, guys? Hey, this is Laura. Hey, guys, it's your girl. It's your girl. The whole crew is here.
Speaker: And okay, so real quick, we'll give some context, because I don't know if all of our listeners are this intimately involved with the cryptic posts I make on social media. So, not a random selection for this crew. This crew is actually the entirety of our wedding party. And of course, the on -air premiere of my wife, Rhianne. Hey!
Speaker: So we did talk about it a little bit, but not too much details. So we were all in Vegas. Rhiannon and I got married on the Big Apple Coaster, and it was awesome. Yep. It was super awesome. And we're all pretty much big theme park nerds, the six of us who were all there in attendance. So what better way?
Speaker: to kick off season two, then with this fine group of folks. Oh, yeah. This is way better than our first idea. It was. A shocker shot pitch perfect to remake with just been doing the vocals.
Speaker: Did you get the, were you gonna get the Green Bay Packers in there too? That would have been sick. We had some big aspirations, but once we found out that we were gonna get sued if we did it, we had to come up with something else quick. I mean, you probably could have gotten Anna Kendrick on me if you just asked nicely. I mean, she seems like a cool person, right? You know, I did send an email. Her camp was not kind in their response.
Speaker: Oh, that sucks. Maybe next time. But if she's listening, Anna Kendrick, we would love to have you on the show. Does she ride coasters? Actually, forget that. Like, if she wants to be on the show, she'd be on the show. Who cares who's riding coasters? Yeah, we'll ask her about Disneyland and figure out a way to do the whole episode. If we can get Anna Kendrick, I think we'll be in a good spot. So keep it tuned for season three if your favorite coaster sucks. Never know who you might hear.
Speaker: So we were off for a month. That's a hell of a break. I enjoyed it. Ben, do you do anything interesting? I mean, I lost my job and then I got a new job. So that's about it. That's good. I just signed an offer letter today. Very nice.
Speaker: Thank you. It feels good because now I have like three and a half weeks of fun employment where I don't have to, you know, I can enjoy not having a job for a little, a little bit yet. I don't know what I'm doing yet so far. It's just been like smoking weed and doing, you know, it's like literally it dream. I walked to a waterfall yesterday. I was the events of the week.
Speaker: Tomorrow, I might get on a bike. So. Yeah. Your life right now. So what's everyone else been up to? It's been like about a month since the wedding. We haven't seen you guys.
Speaker: Yeah, it's kind of sad. We kind of wish we were out there a little longer, but I don't know. I'm chilling out here in San Diego. We went to the zoo a few weeks ago, and that was that was a pretty good time. That zoo is massive. It's an awesome zoo. I've heard good things about that zoo. Did you see Jack hang out? No, is he is he regular at the zoo there? That'd be kind of sick. I don't know. I thought I remember a TV show with him. He lived in the cage with some animals. I don't know. Maybe I don't know.
Speaker: I'll have to look him up, see if he's going to be in the San Diego Zoo scene. Jack Hanna. I thought he was at Bush. He lives in the game. He is among them. He decided to go for avant -garde performance art. I am the zebra.
Speaker: He does look like more. He looks like more of a Florida guy, like a rich white guy who maybe had a few hedge funds and now you're retired and does like animal shows. I could have sworn he had a TV show where he was at Busch Gardens, Tampa. You know, I think you're right. I'm remembering that now, too. Well, it was really early PBS Saturday mornings or something.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. And they would always show like two second clips of the roller coasters. That's the only reason why I watched. It was like, wow, three seconds of Kumba. It was like one episode that would only show like twice a year where they actually like talked about roller coasters or something or like showed them riding them. It's like those five fails. I want to see the rides.
Speaker: It was like before puberty, when you had nothing else to obsess over, it was just like you'd watch any show with the hopes that there'd like a roller coaster clip in it. Well, also before the internet. Right. Yeah. YouTube has definitely changed that, huh? I'm thinking, holy shit, PBS. What? You mean that place that would send you $100 tote bags?
Speaker: They they did have a few good roller coaster shows. There was one called like The American Amusement Park, where they had segments about Kennywood and Lakewood and Lakemont and like Playland and shit like that. It was actually pretty cool. I kind of remember that one. And like they interviewed guests on The Midway and everybody looks so dated.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, that's right. That's right. They were interviewing people and like Cedar Point or something. Those interviews and those documentaries are always so weird. They do basically like man on the street interviews about rides. And these people are having their experience, but also like, you know, they frame the questions in a certain way where it's like, Oh, is Magnum the best coaster ever? So people are like, yeah, it's the best coaster ever.
Speaker: Reaction responses cell. Oh my god, I just got off magnet for the first time. I felt like I was gonna fly out of the coaster so far. I was literally saying the whole time. Yeah, the GP interviews are always a goldmine for stuff, stuff like that. I'm in a wheelchair.
Speaker: I went on a smiler and all I got was this stupid prosthetic leg. Too soon. Why is that not in a gift shop? You listening, Alton? Walk it off, buddy. Oh, man. I mean, imagine how many.
Speaker: Imagine how many Ohio people, though, they had to interview like the interviews you saw that that that wasn't like the only ones they filmed, you know, they filmed like hours of that footage. And that's like the best footage they got out of that. They probably interviewed a tragic thing. They have hours of interviews and those are literally the best 10 minutes they got. Yeah.
Speaker: You know, they got some old aces that are just going on and on and on. Yeah, everybody has been on the fucking beast. We were talking about a carousel.
Speaker: Oh, you know, it'd be a funny prank. Just like a where like where a TV channel T -shirt and have a camera and a tripod and then just find people walking off of the beast and pretend like kind of interview for a TV show and just like see all the old ass Kings Island fanboys like the Beast fans, like the crazy ones that like, you know, form a group and just like interview them all as like a joke.
Speaker: It's the beast 43rd anniversary special. Yeah, man, I just got off the beast for the hundredth time. You know, you have to ride in the third car and get the ride in seat 11 on the right hand side to get the best ride. You know, you can't you can't have a good piece, right? That's right. Running in that specific seat on that specific car. You know, that's the car. The wheels got to be made on a certain batch date, so they're smoother.
Speaker: And you have to ride at noon, exactly noon, because then the cars are warmed up, but it's not too fast. You know, it's not too fast, but the car is still warmed up. He works in the maintenance department. You don't want to ride in the third row because, oh, the board snapped last week and this girl actually died. So don't ride in the third row.
Speaker: Some old lady, she's like, my first ride was in 71 and it was a life -changing experience and I needed to change my genes after that one. I'm not talking about treating myself. Oh my God. And then like, you know, I kept riding it and next thing I know I can't have children anymore and my kids don't contact me anymore and I just got this ride.
Speaker: I pass a few kidney stones along the way. Yeah. I actually went into labor because of that ride. Now it's just marble lights and the beast. The occasional Bud Light line. Bud Light. Ew. With the straw. And ice.
Speaker: You know, the good way to draw it. I actually think that you can make an entire TV show about Kings Island people kind of like have it be in tune with like a Tim and Eric show where you're telling people it's legitimate interviews, but you just take like the worst ones. Ben, I'm kind of seeing it now. It's like a cop drama parody.
Speaker: Cincinnati, RCPD. Oh, RCPD. Dwayne's gotta have a cameo. Dwayne's the chief. I think Alan Shilke should just go to Kings Island and ride the beast a couple of times just to freak everyone out.
Speaker: I think I remember someone did a prank like that where they like had one of those RMC crew t -shirts and they like went to Kings Island and we're just like kind of looking at the beast. That was fucking that was fucking Rocco at Six Flags Great America. Oh well. Oh really? Did he do it for Eagle? That prank is still great. So Rocco was doing it for what like Eagle?
Speaker: either eagle or viper or something i just i remember him doing it okay this is when he was still with uh hanging around scott or something yeah well we don't need to go too far into that story we don't like to talk about people we don't like like that plus some of us still live in a certain vicinity to him
Speaker: Fair enough. I don't even know what this person is. Well, I'm sure he's doing well during this pandemic. That's true. That's true. A chance to not be with anybody physically is probably an environment in which he can thrive. We will send... No, we're not going to discuss him anymore. Moving right along.
Speaker: Everybody here except for John had been to Vegas prior, right? Yes, sir. Many times, yes. Yes. Oh. Yeah? Cool. Well, this is great. Well, then that's fine. We'll shift and put some pressure on John. How'd you like Vegas, John? It is an extrovert city.
Speaker: I was terrified and I loved it. I mean, you get to you got to have your first visit to Vegas at like a very weird time to visit Vegas. Right. Also, but the most interesting, like I think it'd be kind of cool to experience that as a complete outsider during a pandemic. Yeah, like because it's already kind of a spooky place as it is. Right.
Speaker: Yeah, there's less people around, too, so it's not too overwhelming. I mean, definitely an odd city during regular times, and even honored when like half the strip is pretty closed, basically. Yeah. I think one of the most striking visuals is just seeing casinos with like
Speaker: The entrances and driveways just totally blocked off. Or like Planet Hollywood where the garbage is just piling up in front. Oh yeah, that was sad. I think Planet Hollywood is going to be closing from rumors I've heard. As long as it's been closed already, I could see it.
Speaker: Well, you know what? That was the one that everyone made fun of anyway, right? Like that was kind of a, that's like the Denny's of right. Unless I'm remembering it wrong. I don't know. You got, you got a few shady hotels in Las Vegas, like Bally's right. And even like Flamingo is pretty rundown and pretty, uh, Flamingo just got renovated. Oh, did it?
Speaker: Yeah, it was just renovated like last year, I think. I know Circus Circus is kind of the laughingstock. Yeah, that too. That place is awful so bad. Yeah, I can't imagine that one does very well because you have to get off of the strip to go there, right? Yeah. Well, no, it's on the strip. It's just way the fuck north from the rest of the action. Oh, gotcha. It's pretty much off strip. It's like.
Speaker: As soon as you go any further north here at the Strad, then it's like, okay. Well, I'm going to say. Circus $40 fucking dollars for two credits. Oh.
Speaker: Yeah, we talked about last time a little bit how they changed their pricing structure to have, you know, just the unlimited wristbands now, which is pretty shitty. It's no. I wouldn't go back. Not for that. Not for 40 bucks. Yeah, exactly. I mean, did you at least write other shit, though? The chaos. OK, nice. I haven't been on one in about what, 12 years since Cedar Point removed theirs. Oh, yeah, shit. It's been a while.
Speaker: That's too bad. 12 years. 13 years. I've never been on one of those and I was kind of looking forward to riding that one. It's like a sideways zipper, but lamer. Yeah, like I don't think the program is very good at that one. What was really cool was if you can ride a chaos at a carnival, those are usually pretty crazy and they're like way faster and they do more stuff.
Speaker: Yeah, I think the one at Cedar Point was more intense from what I remember back then. Yeah, yeah. Well, I can't like, I don't have the system for flat rides exactly anymore that I used to. Yeah, I don't. I don't do flight rides very much at all. I wrote the zipper once and I'm like, nope, never again. That thing was insane. It was at a carnival too. So, you know, there's no rules when you're at a carnival. So.
Speaker: Man, they're starting to redo the zippers and they're neutering them. They're putting them on program controls. OK. Free spinning. See, oh, really? Like the carriages won't free spin around the no free spin, but it's now in a timed program. And so you're saying the right up just pushes a button and the right does its thing versus the right up having full control of the ride. Gotcha. Yeah, the zipper I went on, so it was doing like
Speaker: three different forward -back -forward -back cycles. But for whatever reason, on my ride, they did four cycles instead of three. So I was done at three. But I said, let's do one more time. And I'm like, fuck this. Let me off. I'll never get on one of those ever again. But more power to people who like flight rides. Not my thing. What was the other thing that I did at the inverter thing? Oh, shit. Because I never got on one of those.
Speaker: the awful restraint design, it pushes down, the shoulder restraint comes down and it keeps squeezing and then you get this. And then the lap bar squishes, you crouch. Yeah, yeah. That one wasn't as bad, though, as I wrote. The first time I wrote one was at a carnival and it was like a torture device because it kept getting tighter and tighter and tighter. It was like a five second tightening.
Speaker: And you could hear like the air compressor or whatever, like starting to like slog. Yeah, it was bad. And then like this green thing comes down. Whoa. Whoa. It's like the rant. It's like the rant timer. If you go off on a rant, it's like nah. It's the ramp it up button from Chappelle show.
Speaker: Wrap it up. Yeah, exactly. We'll start the music. Gavulam too. I love that show. Such a good show. Yeah. Classic. Also of its time though. Very much of its time and Dave Chappelle knew that, which is why he quit. And it's only aged well if you found it funny for the right reasons in the first place.
Speaker: Exactly, because there are plenty of people out there right now that don't understand what he was going for. And this can show a lot of his sketches. So yeah. But got to say, yeah, I mean, he's he's done well doing those Netflix standups. Those are good. And also Neil Brennan, who is, you know, his his main writer and a pretty interesting, like one man show stand up thing on Netflix that was pretty good, too.
Speaker: I've never seen Neil's. I actually haven't seen Dave Chappelle's either, but Neil's, I'm brand new to, but I knew that he was like his right hand man. So I'll go check him out. I'd recommend it. It's definitely for Neil Brennan. It's more of a, like a one man show. It's still funny, but yeah. Yeah. Anyway, I'm also a comedy nerd. Ha ha ha. My nerd num knows no S. Good.
Speaker: Yeah. Good, good. Totally. So, uh, Rhianne. Yeah. Why are you being so quiet? Because I don't know what you guys are talking about. It doesn't matter. All right, I'll perk up. Sorry. That's OK. This is not a demand. I'm just saying you're being awfully quiet. I know. It's not like I know.
Speaker: Do I have to ask you about Disneyland to get that going? Maybe. Disneyland. Let's start a, yeah, let's start a Disney tangent.
Speaker: All right, Haunted Mansion, go. That's right, ever. Yes. Established 19th of July. Hey, Rhianna. Yeah. Are you pro Haunted Mansion holiday or anti Haunted Mansion holiday? I'm definitely pro Haunted Mansion holiday.
Speaker: Good. That's the act. That's the, that's the real response. There are people out there that don't like it. Yeah. The original 2001, I think it was soundtrack. Unfortunately was completely redone for 2002 up into present. So that part kind of sucks, but overall it's very. Do you remember the time that we went that they had the sing -along in line?
Speaker: Yes, that was like the first time in like 2001. Yeah. In the whole queue, they had like actors singing. Yeah, it was cool. That was the coolest stuff. And I haven't been able to find those tracks. Have you found them at all? Yes. And there was like at least 10 or 12 of them. Sounds of Disneyland .com. Oh, cool. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, that's happening later because I remember that. I remember the MC out there, you know, leading the songs and all the lyrics were listed up on the queue and everything. And that was a good time. I mean, that was like almost 20 years ago, so they probably won't bring it back. But that'd be an awesome addition if they decided to. Yeah, they should. That crowd interaction element. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker: So that year that we went, so that was the first or second year you said, I think you said it was the second year, 2001. I think it was, I thought 2001 was the first year, I could be wrong. But yeah, we went, we were there the first year because I recall the difference in the soundtrack. I think that's the only time that we had seen the sing along characters, actors. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: Oh yeah, for anyone who doesn't know, Rayne's my sister. She's my older sister. That's why we've been having all these Disney stories between us. Lots of them. Yeah, we used to go, when we lived there, we used to go to Disneyland after school on every Friday. Every Friday, we had a lot of Sundays. A lot of Sundays. Because our past was more blocked, I think it was, on Sundays. Sorry, guys.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I remember those times after going to preschool at Shigram Mirror. Yeah. Now it's like, when are we ever going to get to go back to Disneyland? Seems like they're never going to open now. It seems like that. And I really wish they'd, I mean, obviously the circumstances aren't perfect, but I mean, they'll open up someday and I guess I'll wait for it, you know? Yeah. But hey, when it happens.
Speaker: You guys can come out here and stay with us, and we'll go and have a blast. Yes. Yeah. Hopefully, we don't move before they open again. Lord, don't say that. Moving back to Florida. Disney World's open, isn't it? It is. It's been open for just over a month, I think. Probably at Great Peril, right?
Speaker: If you're one of those people that is not affected by the pandemic at all, and what I mean by is like, if you're just like selfish, it's probably like the best time of your life to be going into the world. Like there's a portion of the population that's just like, this is awesome.
Speaker: I mean, I keep seeing pictures of people posting and like it's pretty and since it's limited capacity, it's pretty much empty. And there's like no lines or anything for most of the ride. So in a way, it's a great time to go. But like you said, like you're putting yourself and other people in danger from the pandemic. So I mean, it's a it's a it's a risk.
Speaker: But like you said, people are selfish. Oh, God. I'm just thinking like a year or two from now, there's going to be all these people online complaining like, remember how awesome like the park was in 2020? Oh, this sucks. It's busy now. And I mean, you're depriving yourself of half the experience by going now anyway. So what's the fucking point? Right.
Speaker: Yeah, that's the biggest thing I was reading today, actually, that universal attendance -wise and business -wise is doing so much better than Disney since they've reopened, for multiple reasons. But one of what, which is what you just said, John, it's like the experience isn't there. There's not the shows, there's not the fireworks, there's not the full braids. And I don't blame people for not wanting to pay that. And for the fact, like you said, Ben, it's a pandemic. Maybe not the best time to go.
Speaker: Yeah. But like you can get on seven doors, nine train and 15. Bro. I don't care what anyone says. I like that ride. Laura doesn't care for it. Oh, I loved it. It was cute. I should put, I should put it that way. It wasn't like, I'm going to go wait an hour for it every time. And it was good. It was very well done. Oh yeah. Yeah. I think the last time Jamie and I were there somehow avatar was at 30 minutes.
Speaker: Oh, it was raining hardcore that day. That's right. Yeah, it was raining so hard. So we ran over to Avatar and did Avatar and waited in the line for 30 minutes for it. Yeah, that was a good time. I think it was in 30 when I went with you guys, but that was because we got there at 6 AM to get in line. Right. And our friends let us cut in line or a little bit. They let us in line a little ahead to the end. That was nice. I didn't know them. They're just like, hey, these guys are with us. Come stay in line with us. I'm like, OK, why not?
Speaker: It's the Disney magic right there. But yeah, the last time we went to Disney World, there was a tropical storm in the Gulf. And Disney World was getting a lot of the rain from it. So it wasn't like a huge windstorm or anything, but it's just a ton of rain. So we went to the safari first. We had no time at all for that, because there was no one there. And then from there, we walked to Avatar and wrote a flight of passage.
Speaker: All right, we were completely drenched though, just head to toe dripping, soaked. But you know, it's warm enough. It doesn't feel cold, right? So yeah, it's just, it's just wet. Yeah, but in that blur of the humidity and you're already all wet, it's like, ugh. Gross. Yeah, it was kind of gross for a while, but we dried off and, you know, continued our awesome day. And we got free food that day too, right after Avatar, I think.
Speaker: Oh yeah, that's, that's your guys' thing. Yeah, Jaymond gets free food at Disney World all the time. That's some Disney magic right there. That is Disney magic. I think it's my stitch years. Whenever I want my stitch years, I get free food. Yeah, he got those in Tokyo Disneyland.
Speaker: Well, I appreciated that Jamin Disney magic of getting all those free egg rolls that day, so. And ice cream. And I forgot about the Mickey bars because my Mickey here's got some Mickey bars. So Jamin, you're rubbing off on me. Yes. Well, hey, you have the luck at the casino. You win like hundreds of dollars, no problem. Like I wanted free Disney food or look at the casino. I think I took the casino.
Speaker: Yeah, let's talk about that for a minute. Zach and I are at the blackjack table. I'm losing everything. Zach's like up a little bit and then Rand's like, yeah, I just won 400 bucks. Yeah. No big deal. It was like a comedy because Jamin was kind of watching Zach and Laura and I'd go off and put 20 in a machine, win 100, show it to Jamin, take another 20, put it in the machine, win another 50. It was a lot of fun though.
Speaker: It gets a little embarrassing for me, because Laura, I had actually managed to double my money at that table. And I was like, but this is fun. That's called Vegas magic. It's the same magic. You were having fun, though. Yeah. The Vegas magic and the Disney magic are the same magic. Yeah, your money doesn't matter.
Speaker: They cost about the same in a manner of speaking, so you're not wrong. I'm not saying it's a one -to -one experience, but dollar -wise, you know, magic's going to happen. So yeah, Vegas, fun times. I do wish that could have been longer too.
Speaker: Yeah, I keep telling Jamie and we should be going back like every weekend. Like, are we going back yet? Are we going back yet? Well, like the balcony was just a good view. Stretch balcony. That was incredible. That was awesome.
Speaker: Yeah, Cosmo is probably the coolest hotel on the strip. Like it might not be the most luxurious, but it's definitely like the coolest out there, I'd have to say. It's definitely the fanciest I've been to, not stayed in, but yeah. That's like the newest one on the strip too, right? I thought Aria came later. But you probably know better.
Speaker: I think they're kind of the same era, aren't they? Yeah, it's like that whole city center thing they tried to build. Yeah, I think all those went in around the same time. Whatever, like whatever cluster of resorts are connected by that monorail thing. Whatever. Hmm, I see. Oh, yeah, those weird condos and area and stuff. Yeah, that block with the mall and all that.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, whatever that like complex is. I can't imagine anyone would want to like live there.
Speaker: Maybe it's like the kind of room you might rent for a month if you're shooting like porn, but Jesus, that was really quick. I feel like it's accurate. We also want to live there. I was going to say, who would want to live on this trip? It's not like some mid level manager who works in like corporate for one of the big chains. I don't know if I.
Speaker: If I was a multimillionaire, I wouldn't mind having a second condo in Las Vegas just because. I mean, is is your primary residence? Would you marry? No, for sure. No. That would be so draining to live on the strip. Like I would think the novelty would wear off after the first month or so. Yeah, easily. And then you just grow more and more irritated until you want to move to the suburbs.
Speaker: If you were like an aspiring TikToker, or you were in Los Angeles and it got too expensive, it's like, oh, but I'll just get this condo in Vegas. And now it's like the 12 most influential TikTokers all living in one condo in Vegas. Ben, we got another TV show pitch. That sounds awful. The real world TikTok.
Speaker: You know what? I'm surprised like MTV hasn't done that yet because Tiktokers are huge and MTV is not. I mean, why not like go with the curve, you know? Right. MTV. He's the last 21 year olds. But I'm in a house and watch that shit happen. MTV is just going to try to sell like they sell movies, just sell directly to China. Yeah, we got a TikTok reality show.
Speaker: That echo actually worked there. They could. So, like, wasn't Chang repainted to be converted to like a Riddler ride because they converted the Rapids ride to the penguin theme and then T2 was painted black for a Batman theme that never happened? Seems plausible. I thought that was a long term plan. I have no idea.
Speaker: They're like, Riddler's Revenge East. It's just, I mean, yeah. It's just weird how like that ride, it was so much better than Mantis. Agreed. Well, it was like smoother, but more forceless. It was boring.
Speaker: I don't like stand ups, so I mean, take that for me. Well, that was that was the second stand up I'd been on. The only other one I had been on at the time was Iron Wolf, and I kind of liked that ride, which is a minority. Gone too soon. I think Georgia Scorcher is still my favorite stand up. There is all right. Wait, where's that six flags over Georgia?
Speaker: Well, that makes sense. Yeah, you know, it was a Ben knows this shockingly good ride was Sky Rider up in Canada. Yeah. Togo stand up. Oh, OK. I mean, I could have done that trip and not ridden Leviathan and been pretty satisfied just from that ride. That's high praise. I don't remember that ride being anything special. It was the Lord Shitty Togo.
Speaker: Yeah, it wasn't rough at all. Like it was pretty smooth. It had crazy. That's like saying the prettiest Denny's waitress. No, this was like a different league of toga. Like this was like the one good one that slipped through. I mean, that's why it's still standing. I don't know. I mean, the only reason that Manhattan Express is still standing because they're so cheap. Like if that were a corporate park, it would have been out by now.
Speaker: Now, question, your favorite sensation on a roller coaster is experiencing a shopping cart rolling down a hill, right? That ride doesn't match that experience quite. It's more like you're standing up in a shopping cart on a gentle slope. But no, it was great. The air time was amazing. The helix was a lot of fun. The trick track is whatever.
Speaker: No, I wish it was really intense without, you know, beating you up like shock. Yeah. Things to make me dead. Yeah, it didn't beat you up at all. But what's up with air time on stand up coasters? Why? It's so fun. It's so fun. No, no, no. It's like the most underrated thing in the coaster world, I think, is stand up air time. Where else can you experience it? Fucking shockwave at Six Flags Over Texas.
Speaker: But I can second that. That shit, you are standing the fuck up. Scary shit. Scary shit. And that's not a stand up coaster, so. I need to look into if a woman really died on that ride. I want to say I read a story where like an employee was switching seats on the lift hill and then she couldn't sit down properly and she got ejected.
Speaker: Oh, wow. I'm sure we should be a should be ready for that. Well, we've we've had a lot of rumors about one particular part here on the show, so I just wanted to go ahead and stoke the flames again here in this episode with the reports that Mount Olympus's owner kicks off.
Speaker: Allegedly, you got to say allegedly. Look, we've heard reports. I've heard it said. I mean, I'm not in any position to confirm and deny this, but I certainly wouldn't bring my dog around him. Safe bet. You know, I have a dog, you know what? And I heard he's kind of a kind of a little transphobic, so bad luck.
Speaker: Very bad look. And look, we're not saying this is the truth. We're saying it's been said. So we've heard. Zero liability. Well, you know what you got to do. You got to get them on the show now. We're hoping so. Season two is going to be full of surprises. I'll never forget seeing a tree completely fall and crack the track of Zeus.
Speaker: and then the ride was open two hours later. What the fuck? It was in 2008. I was there for an Ace event and this crazy storm came in. It was 60 mile per hour wind gusts. I saw a cigarette urn like get picked up by the wind in front of me and slammed down and it just like showered cigarette butts like over this whole group of people.
Speaker: The employees locked all the gift shop doors so you couldn't get in the gift shop because it was like down pouring and shit. So everyone was just panicking, no one knew where to go. And yeah, as we were walking out of the park, the wind cracked a tree and it fell on that first turn prelift section of Zeus. And it made this loud crack sound and the track was all fucked up. And then like two hours later, it was open.
Speaker: Wow. They're like duct tape fixes everything. It's like literally going to Home Depot. They probably got like a few two by fours and just like I mean, I know it's a wooden coaster. It's not that hard to fix, but still it was like you should probably have to go. I think if a tree falls on your ride and damages it, you should probably have to go through some kind of state inspection or like you'd think there'd be some process involved, but
Speaker: I guess it's all in house. That's implying they even bother making a report. Oh, yeah, they didn't report that at all. The real question is, if a tree falls at Mount Olympus, do they get an insurance policy? I'm sure. Wait, it was an Ace event anyway, right? So who cares? Well, I mean, they had that big sign out front that said we have no insurance right at your own risk for however many years.
Speaker: Wow. I mean, considering how bad some people said Hades was at some point, I'm not sure if it's still that rough, but I mean, it's not really, really, really bad. Hades is awesome. I heard. Go ahead. Yeah, I would like to ride it with the retract. It was good with the PTC trains and then it kind of sucked for a while with the new trains, but I think they fixed it up a little bit.
Speaker: The, like, corkscrew is kind of cool. And it's not great. But I like the original ride was better. But I still think it's pretty damn good. Timberliners are no good, though. Timberliners are garbage. Millennium fliers are where it's at. 100 percent. Yeah, I like the Millennium fliers. Those timberliners are just their garbage, unfortunately.
Speaker: See, I'm kind of a fan for just, I think my favorite train is the PTC, just the standard like four person bench PTC. I think you have like the most room and you get like, I don't know. I think like the airtime experiences is a little better. Cue Tom Rebbe making a joke about some fat azer.
Speaker: I'll have to say, I don't care for the PTC restraints, because they're just all my right thigh or left thigh, whichever is how you're sitting on, so that's why I like the Millennium Fliers, because it comes right between your legs, but doesn't cut you off, at least in my case, anywhere. I feel like I have free range of motion sitting in a Millennium Flyer over a PTC train with those weird restraints. Yeah, but with the PTC trains, you can give yourself extra room.
Speaker: You got to hover, you got to lift your, uh, lift your heels a bit and push your knees into the lap bar. So when they check it, it doesn't go down. And then once the ride starts, you can kind of like sit up straight. And then you got like a bunch of room.
Speaker: So Jamie, I have to ask, has that always been your philosophy getting on coasters? Have you tried to avoid getting stapled this whole time? I've never noticed. No, I don't. I think the Air Time Thrills guy on YouTube, he's always talking about, oh, we hate getting stapled, this, that, and the other thing. My main concern is being safe.
Speaker: I don't believe that not being stapled as nugget is gonna make me fly off the ride or anything. I'm not that kind of idiot. But I have no problem with being stapled because I don't care about movement in my seat for airtime. It's really just about the sensation. You still feel it, but you don't move. You don't need to move, in my opinion. So, I mean, that might not be most people's opinion, but that's how I feel about it. So, as long as I'm not getting my leg circulation cut off, like on Skyrush, I don't care.
Speaker: Sky Rush is the only ride that I've ever legitimately felt like I was going to fall out of the seat because you have that launch. I just felt like I was going to keep going straight up. That restraint didn't hold me in at all, I felt. I just thought I was just going to keep going and the ride was going to go down the hill without me and I was just going to be up in the fucking atmosphere. Where's Sky Rush? That's par for the course when you ride an Intamin.
Speaker: But that's aside from the point. Skyra, she's at Hershey Park in Hershey. Oh, I just watched a video of pandemonium today. I look pretty cool. It's like fun. Yeah. I like the color of the track that's chocolate. I thought that was kind of cool. You wait, you. Yeah. Hates on B and M's. Yep. I didn't. I didn't. What? I just kind of look kind of cool. That's all I said.
Speaker: Well, I also know you take any chance you can to bash B &M rides. No, I do not. Just half the time. I'm just kidding. B &Ms are great. I just do think they can be a little boring sometime, but they're beautiful looking rides. They really are crazy photogenic. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, they're great. I think the problem is you haven't been on any of the best ones. Well, that's that. I mean, you're right. My B &M experience is very, very small. So I'm sure. If you have me back on here a year after we can finally go and back to parks again, I'll say something different. But for now, be like you like you like Tatsu, right? I do. I did. There's something I like. Yeah. Talk to you. Keep raising. You've been on Leviathan.
Speaker: No, I've not. It's got this little trick track, like a turn hill where you're going full speed. It's actually really, that's probably the best part of the ride. Okay. That sounds awesome. No, I'll give them a try. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not going to say no to any, any B and M, but yeah, I think I just need going some more. Maybe vortex at Carowinds. I've heard that's a bad one.
Speaker: but we never got to write it. Yeah, the old everything before the inverts is kind of shit.
Speaker: I don't know. I was a sucker for iron wool. It's forceful. It was a forceful ride. It's not that it's bad. Like if you'd like to try it with the florals. Right. It's like that right. You had to be you had a know where to position the seat and be you had to be of a certain height to get the most enjoyable ride without getting your ass kicked by those damn intimate trains. Also true. Well, it had the B and M restraints, though. So would it really matter in the end?
Speaker: Yeah, I think that they were assembled differently or something. Yeah, they were. They had a different design, so. Yeah, they were different trains and then they just swapped the I think they upgraded the restraints later because they used to be those. It used to have like square or square ones. Yeah, those were terrible. Yeah, I never wrote it with those. I only knew the B &M restraints.
Speaker: I want to say the first time I rode Iron Wolf was with those restraints. I remember riding it as a kid and this weird feeling, this strong tingly feeling in my feet from the G -Force. For some reason, I hated that feeling and then it went away eventually. Was Iron Wolf the coaster that was in the Richie Rich movie?
Speaker: Yes. Do you guys remember that? Yep. I just think it's funny that we were talking about that earlier, like, you know, watching a show in the years, it's like a moment of a coaster that you like. And, you know, Iron Wolf comes up and that's the closure that was featured in the Richie Rich movie. I think the ride was brand new when they filmed that. For the kid's sake, I hope it was because then they might get a little rough near the end of its lifetime. It's pretty rough, pretty quick from what I understand.
Speaker: I mean, it was. Yeah, go ahead. No, I was just saying I remember watching that scene as a kid and be like, that looks awesome, because I was I was like, I don't know, 10 or 12 and that came out. So I had had not gotten a chance to ride any huge coasters. So I was like, that looks like a whole lot of fun and to own it, you know, like rich rich own that shit. So right. Right. Any time like that's in his back yard and dream. Well, the only other interesting piece of trivia about Iron Wolf is that it was the first B &M coaster.
Speaker: Oh, snaps. And if I remember correctly, B &M now has the original trains from that ride. Wouldn't surprise me if they bought him back from Six Flags. I think they were donated to them. It's in their corporate office now. Well, better there than going to sit in that fucking storage locker in Texas that Ace keeps calling a museum. Right.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, that's right. We're back season two and still fuck you. What the fuck happened? Weren't they supposed to build like an exit an exhibit hall for that place like three years ago? Yeah, they've been taking money for it. They've taken it over. They've taken it about half a million dollars in donations for that place, and yet all they can do is have a fucking storage locker in Texas.
Speaker: What the fuck? And they always post these pictures where it's like, oh, we got like a car from Volcano, the blast coaster, and we got like, you know, the original harnesses from Steel Phantom or whatever. And it's like, cool. So you ever going to like open this place up or at the very least, you know, loan some of this stuff out to other museums that would want to exhibit this shit, you know? Who the fuck would want to exhibit it?
Speaker: Fuck, I don't know. Local history museums? I don't know. Nobody's going to exhibit a roller coaster exhibit. I don't know. Our local San Diego museum has an exhibit about cannibals right now, so I think I'd rather check out roller coasters than cannibals. I mean, shit, I've done art shows about fucked up abandoned theaters in a fucked up abandoned theater and people went gaga for it, so.
Speaker: All those avant -garde types. Right. What I'm hearing is that we need to all just open up a roller coaster museum before that ace one can open. Yeah, just steal their thunder. I'll donate two pieces. Look, they have they have all these ride out effects. Yeah, well, we're open to the public. Bitches.
Speaker: Look at that. We made all these exhibits based off of cutouts from your own magazine. I have a question. Can I change the subject? Is that the question? Let me try that again. I have two questions. First question, may I change the subject?
Speaker: You may. Second question. I'm just curious. Has anybody, I know you guys all have, because we've all been to a lot of theme parks. Does anybody just have like a crazy, just something happened? I have one, but it's kind of like blah. So I'm hoping somebody can go before me. But if you'd like, I can kick it off. Like just like some weird, like
Speaker: Some other, like, guests in the park just acting stupid or a weird interaction, like, with, like, I got one cast. Reaching bull riders in the back row. We was. What was the name? We had names for them and Cheetah. Oh, yeah. Big boo Cheetah. Cunt whack -a -mole. Oh, my God. Whack whack -a -mole was Plunster, if I remember correctly.
Speaker: Oh, mole lester. Oh, yeah, I think we'll like, I think they both had the same, you know, appearance. But it was I think the name wise, I think molester.
Speaker: Well, they were different. There was whack -a -mole and then there was molester. I thought molester was... Plancer. Yeah. Sex offender, Plancer. Yeah. Ooh. Big boo. Big boo. That was a legit name. That was their fucking license plate, I think. It was on their patch jacket. They actually had the name embroidered. Big boo on their ace patch jacket. Oh my god, those still exist. Oh my god.
Speaker: Okay, so one of my favorite ones, Rhianne, was you and I, and Jamon, and my sister, Christy.
Speaker: on Expedition Everest. She had no idea what was coming. And so when we got to the broken track, she legitimately thought that the track was broken and didn't know what to do with herself. And then we started going backwards and she just lost her fucking shit. And it was the funniest ride ever until the very end until we were getting off and the lap bars were up. That was hilarious.
Speaker: She was like screaming and crying, and she had tears rubbing down her face. I should send the picture to everybody. Yeah, and I almost spoiled that ride for Christy. Like, but at that moment she wasn't listening to me. I almost said, she asked when the picture was, and I said, picture is right up to the part where we go backwards. And Rhiannon and Laura were like, shh, don't tell her that. We have to keep it quiet, so she's surprised for it. I'm like, OK, OK. But yeah, she didn't hear me, so.
Speaker: She totally missed it. That's a good one. We appease her by buying her cotton candy afterwards. Yeah, she's not a big roller coaster rider, but she will ride them. But she's scared to death the whole time, and it's absolutely hilarious to ride them there. She rode a good three or four times, so...
Speaker: Yeah. Right. She said she said she was never going to do it again. And then she wanted to do it again a half hour later. Yeah. That's what surprised me when she freaked out so much on Everest. I'm like, don't you said she was on theory. This thing's like nothing compared to that. What's the deal? Jayman, you have to have a story. I have a few. So before I say, I mean, not going to be long. What's yours going to be? Just give me, is it having a Disneyland? Because I think I might know which one you're talking about.
Speaker: I mean, you can tell that one. Mine was kind of sad. It was quick. Was that Disneyland, I think? No. OK. One time, we rereand, I think, our friend Angelina. We ride Disneyland in line for Indiana Jones. And that ride features light flickering when you're in the queue. And to myself, I was like people that are photosensitive.
Speaker: and they are epileptic, you know, that could start a seizure. And like right as I thought that to myself, someone right in front of us in line started having a seizure because of this light. Oh, no. But you know, it's Disney. So like, you get a cast members attention real fast. And they they were on it. So I'm sure that guy was fine. It was very scary at the time. But, you know, I'm sure that guy was fine. I mean, that's
Speaker: Yeah, he was by himself. Was he by himself? I don't remember that. He was. He was completely by himself. And I have another short story. I kind of told Zach a little bit about this, but it happened in Disneyland a few years ago. I was going to Disneyland with a few of my friends. There were three of us and myself, so there were four of us and all.
Speaker: three of us were going to Disneyland having a park hopper day, but one of them wasn't. He didn't have money, so we couldn't afford to get in the park. We're like, okay, you know, you can come with us and you can chill out around the park, Disneyland, down to Disney and all that stuff. You can do what you want. We're gonna, you know, me, friend one and friend two, we're gonna go in the parks.
Speaker: Three of us went in, the other guy hung out around the parks. He texts us like an hour after we were in the park, and he's like, hey guys, I'm bored. I don't have anything to do out here, it's boring. And we're like, sorry man, we can't get you in, we don't have the money for that, blah, blah, blah. He texts us about an hour or so later, and he's like, hey guys, I'm in the park. And we're like, how'd you get in the park? He's like, I'll tell you when I see you guys, but just come to Main Street, come get me.
Speaker: And I'm like, okay, so we went and got him. And when we saw him, he was in a wheelchair. He's never needed a wheelchair. So we're like, why are you in a wheelchair? He's like, so I kind of lied to get into the park. And we're like, okay, how the hell did you do this? So basically, he was sitting out in the Disneyland Esplanade between
Speaker: California Venture and Disneyland. And he was just sitting there, kind of looking a little dejected, looking a little sad. And one of the cast members comes up to him and asks if anything's wrong. Someone who hadn't started their shift yet, they were just walking around doing whatever. They ask him what's wrong, and he's like, well, someone stole my wheelchair. And my wheelchair had all my money. It had my passport. It had everything in it. And I can't get in the parking lot because my stuff got stolen.
Speaker: And the cast member was like, okay, no problem. We'll go ahead and get you a wheelchair and we'll get you a free park upper pass. So my friend who had no money, wasn't planning on going to the park and didn't have a pass or need a wheelchair, he got free admission to both parks on that day. With the only caveat that we had to push him around a wheelchair.
Speaker: Yeah, so he straight up lied to get into Disney for free that day. And it was a crazy day. That was I was like, man, I don't know how you did that, but he did it.
Speaker: Yeah, that's an elaborate setup. That's a fucking home run right there. It's one of those guys who can just make up things on the fly. So that's what he did. And I mean, I'm sure at some point the cast member probably had to see through him a little bit, but they just let him let it slide. I'm like, dude, that's awesome. That's awesome. But we think... Yeah, I'm sure Disney's policy...
Speaker: Or as I was just saying, I think Dizzy's policy is probably just like, it's better safe, better be safe than sorry as far as like questioning people like that in that situation. Yep. Well, yeah. Cause also like what kind of horrible, I just needed some help taking a shit story ends up with a stolen wheelchair.
Speaker: Exactly. Yeah. I mean, we didn't skip any lines. Like we just went through the normal line as normal with the wheelchair and everything. But we got to go to like the wheelchair loading area, even though we didn't need it. But they went over there because they had a condition where he couldn't walk for too long. You know what? It's Disney. I bet two out of three people who are in a wheelchair in Disney are lying about it. So
Speaker: Totally. I've gone to the park with my best friend, Adam. This is 10 years ago, but we took a spontaneous trip out to Disney and we didn't want to wait in line because we went on a Saturday, so we just went into wheelchair. Got you into all like the accessibility lines and it was great. Toy Story Mania was like a five minute wait as opposed to an hour. I loved it. It was worth the 20 bucks to rent the wheelchair or whatever it was at that time. It's so cool.
Speaker: All right, who's next? Zach. Well, I was at Great America one time and the power went out in the entire park. Hmm. Shit. It's kind of scary. Yeah, you just told me about this. Crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Luckily, my friends and I found like a space that had air conditioning, but also was kind of
Speaker: not exactly easy to access. Ben and John, you might remember that former diner dining location that wasn't actually a restaurant across from Superman, right? Yeah, we were sitting in there because nobody's going in. So all the air conditioning staying in, right? Sitting there for a good three or four hours, and then it's like, oh, look, the rides are moving again.
Speaker: I got a short one also from Six Flags Great America. The one time we were standing in line for vertical velocity, we got to watch a pigeon get yeeted out of existence by the train.
Speaker: So it's just one minute where it's me and my friend, Josh, we're bullshitting and suddenly there's feathers flying everywhere and look straight out of an old cartoon. Oh, that's wild.
Speaker: A similar story, I saw a skyscraper at Cedar Point hit a seagull and it was like a trebuchet and it just like shot it in and soaked city. It was like the feathers, there was maybe like a dozen feathers, like slowly, like big feathers, like slowly falling down. And then the seagull, it was just like motionless, just like soaring.
Speaker: Yeah, I think it landed like in the wave pool or something. That's like one hundred and that was one hundred and seventy six feet tall and it was hit maybe like, I don't know, three fifths of the way up. And then, yeah, it was pretty insane to watch. Oh, God.
Speaker: Well, my story wasn't that. Do you guys have some funny stories? Mine was really quick. It was, it's a little dreary actually. I was just, I, I told Zach this, I think Jamin as well, maybe Laura, but I was, um,
Speaker: This is when I lived in Orlando. I went to the parks one day with a couple of my roommates and went to Animal Kingdom towards the end of the day. And I remember as we walked into the park, and as soon as we stepped foot into the park, there's an announcement over like the park -wide system, like, well, the family of so -and -so, please come to guest relations.
Speaker: And I'm like, what the fuck? This is Disney. You don't hear announcements. I think in COVID days now, you do. But prior to that, there had to be a hurricane or an evac for 9 -11 type stuff. You did not hear an announcement. I was like, I remember turning away Franklin. Shit. Someone is severely ill or someone has passed away. And unfortunately, that was the day someone had
Speaker: Um, when on Mount Everest, they were with their family, um, broke apart to go on the ride by themselves. A man in like his forties or fifties.
Speaker: And when he got back to the station, he was completely unconscious. And unfortunately, he passed away, probably not on Disney property, as you know. Anyway, yeah, I remember reading in the news that night. It was just eerie, you know? I mean, if you go to Disney Parks, they really go to any parks. You don't hear big announcements like that. So it was like, something's wrong. And yeah, unfortunately, someone had passed away. That just sticks out in my mind as probably one of the most eerie experiences I've had in a park. Oh, that's sad.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, I want to forget that. We're good. Now, when the family gets to the room to get the news. Dude. Do you think that they have a Mickey Mouse there in the room? You're like, first of all, first of all, we hope you're enjoying Disney World. Here's some fast passes. Here's a soda. Here's a lifetime free pass. Here's a Mickey premium bar just for you.
Speaker: Mickey Mouse and a lawyer. Oh, man. Next, would you like to hug Mickey Mouse? Because here he is. Oh, that's funny. By hugging the mouse, you promise you won't sue. OK. Oh, my God. This is a legally binding hug.
Speaker: It'd be like that that court case with Tigger all over. Oh, no, not that. Oh, bad news because, you know, cast members never break character and that guy broke hard. I thought Tigger's Tigger had his head off in court to. As far as another story, I saw a go card explode at Cedar Point and it almost killed somebody.
Speaker: It exploded and killed somebody? No, it almost did. Almost. So there was a ride. I think it was called, I think that, okay, there was a Grand Prix and sprint track. And I want to say this was sprint track. So it was more designed for kids and each car had like a, like a coaster was like named after a coaster. So it had a decal and everything. And it was the, I know the Magnum, it was the Magnum car that caught on fire. So a car, the Magnum car got rear ended, I think.
Speaker: or the gas, no, no, no, the gas cap was on loose. The gasoline leaked out of the gas tank and it got caught on fire by the engine and it's just like over the shoulder kind of seatbelt sort of thing.
Speaker: And so I was standing on skyscrapers. We have, we're like full view of the track. You know, we're like literally hundreds of feet apart from it. And yeah, like all of a sudden it was like all this smoke and it started on fire and like the kid got out like just in time and then the flame got huge and it was like. And then all the plastic just melted. There's just this like charred skeleton of a go -kart. That's scary. Wow. I have another question.
Speaker: Can I ask another question? What's that? Is that the question? Oh, my God, Zach. I think we got this. That was the first question, babe. Second question. What is everybody's like? And I'm sorry, Zach, but you probably have done this before. I'm sorry. My question is, does anybody have any like any crazy, like Friday backstory or just any backstory, you know?
Speaker: I have never been bad. No, really? We got evacuated, Jamie. Where was that? We got to go backstage because the ride broke down. Space Mountain?
Speaker: Was it space, yeah, yeah, let's space button. Space button didn't break down, but I think our car was overweight or something. But yeah, we went left before the lift hill and they reset us. It sucked because I was on Dapper Day and I was wearing my Burt outfit, so I was like really uncomfortable. So I had to like sit down, get comfortable, and then get out and get comfortable again. Oh God. And that silly outfit. But yeah, we got to go like soft backstage. We saw where they control the lights for the stars in the,
Speaker: in the actual dome. So that was kind of cool. But, uh, my other, I only have one other evac story. Um, and you were there for this. It was, um, the time we got stuck on pipes of the Caribbean. Oh yeah. You remember that? Yeah. Uh -huh. Yeah. Yeah. We got stuck near the, um, the battle scene, right? We get into the big area.
Speaker: And lights came on, they did some announcements and they had to push all the boats backwards so we could get to the first bit of land where the evac does and took us backstage to get us off the ride. That was pretty crazy. I think it's when I learned I was claustrophobic because I was getting kind of uncomfortable. Yeah, I just remember there were people jumping out the boats and swimming in that nasty water. Do you remember that? Yeah, I remember that too. Yeah, I was like, I really hope those people get kicked out. Yeah. I really hope they do. Yeah, that's gross. It's not water.
Speaker: No, definitely not. It's the blood of Walt's enemies. It's the tears of the children who have been separated from their parties at Disneyland. It's the tears of the children who got turned into animatronics at Small World. Yep. I never got evac'd on a ride. Although I did get a Tower One missed catch on Deja Vu once. Deja Vu went to Meji Mountain.
Speaker: But Great America. Yeah, I mean, I think that's about as crazy of a thing as I have, which is, yeah. I mean, thankfully, I got on all three data of who's. That's something. But yeah, no evac stories. All right. Well, I just got evac'd off of Batman one time. We were still on the left hill about halfway up. This was a Batman over Texas, six times over Texas.
Speaker: It was fucking windy that day. I just remember we just made it halfway up, stopped, and then just sat in the wind in Texas for about, it was about probably 10 minutes before they were able to bring that little, like, step or whatever they have to attach so you could actually get out of the seat and jump on to, like, something to walk back to the stairs. Scaring as hell. You wouldn't think. It wasn't like we got stuck in, like, the middle of the ride. It was the lift hill, but it was, it was so pretty frightening.
Speaker: And then those bitches try not to give us, like, return passes. We didn't even get to go on the ride. There was a lot of sleep. We had to go argue with the dude working the ride. Like, look, we want to come back. Like, we waited for half an hour. Like, give us a return pass. So it worked out. But yeah, it was scary. Really scary. That's wild. Like, one of my, like, I guess, like, things I don't want to experience is like an evac on a flying coaster because you're like laying face down and you like see how high up you are. And you have to, you know, of course, wait for that whole
Speaker: the conveyor thing to come up to get you off. And the thing is like laying face down like that for so long in those restraints just sucks. Like even when you're just sitting with a break run to get off. So I have kind of a story about that specifically. Well, Superman ultimate flight. Oh God. Okay.
Speaker: So I worked that ride and I had one of those trademark six flags, 12 hour shifts. It's like 100 degrees out. Coasters after dark. Anyone who worked in rides knows what that means.
Speaker: fucking bullshit so I'm working Superman all day and all night it's hot as fuck so it gets to be like 1130 at night near the time we're done and then I'm checking restraints and I realize when we dispatch like oh shit somebody's legs are outside of the feet flaps
Speaker: which is naps. Yeah. So we had to stop the ride on the lift hill and maintenance had to come out and fix it. Yeah. Yeah, that'd be a pretty shitty ride to have your legs flopping all over the place. I think once you hit the bottom of the pretzel loop, you'd have, you know, the other direction with your legs. Oh, cool. My knees bend in now.
Speaker: Oh, man, those loops are insane. Like, I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way as I do, but I feel like they're just like almost too intense, especially like a Tatsu where it's like near the end of the ride. You've been through so much already and then like it kicks that after you. Oh, that that pretzel loop kills me every time. Yeah, I try to like brace for it. I'm so just never ready. I just can't like scream. I can't move. I kind of want to puke.
Speaker: a little bit of everything kind of takes the wind out of you. Yeah. Yeah. I know it sounds super lame, but I always gray out on that little pre drop before the pre drop on Superman rides, Superman inverted inverts. If I'm not sitting in the front and I'm sitting anywhere near the back, I always gray out a little bit on that stupid pre drop. So I mean, I'm not sure if anyone else feels that or has ever had that sensation. But that's like one of the only coaches I really gray out on.
Speaker: I agree out on a lot of those, the really tight corkscrews and really tight turns. Yeah, I agree out a lot on those kind of rigs. I guess I don't know if I braid out before. Yeah, it's not fun. What does it feel like?
Speaker: Like I lose my vision. It looks like, uh, like the TV, like the cable got disconnected and it looks all fuzzy. Yeah. That like static look. Yeah. And sometimes I lose my hearing a little bit. Oh damn. Holy shit. That's terrifying. You guys never grayed out on the coaster before? No. Like not passed out, but like, you know, had a little bit of eye fuzzies going on. No, I used to, I used to, when I was younger, like,
Speaker: I don't know. Before I was like a teenager, I remember like the first time I rode Millennium Force, I was 10. And I remember graying out from the bottom of the first drop pretty much all the way to the tunnel. Whoa, wazers. But it was also like 95 degrees out. And I don't know, I was 10. So I know I wasn't drinking water as 10 year olds really do. Mm hmm.
Speaker: That's like, for me, that seems to be a big part of it is as long as I'm hydrated, I'm fine. But if it's hot as shit and you're sweating ass all day and you know, you ride like Batman, the ride in the last row, like, yeah, I'll get, I'll get something. I've never had that happen. Interesting. And I've been on Titan and Goliath and a bunch of Batman, the rides, I don't know.
Speaker: Have you, have you written Intimidator yet? 305? No. I got, yeah, I gotta write that one. Apparently, I mean, apparently it was more intense when it first opened and it's less intense now, but still I've heard it's, it's pretty much up there with like the most hits rights in the world. So that original turn looked crazy. Yeah. Yeah. People were graying at like day one. Ben, you got the piano music queued up. I do.
Speaker: Alright then let me introduce our new segment this season. This was suggested by our buddy Logan and big shoutouts to Logan. We are going to be reading a random review of an amusement park or
Speaker: roller coaster from Google or Yelp, wherever we find a good one star review. So we've got perfect music to go over it. And this week, my wife Rhian is going to be reading the first one. And this is a review of the roller coaster at New York, New York. So Ben, hit the music and Rhian take it away.
Speaker: I could do a zero for stars. I would. Unprofessional jerks. We paid $30 to stand in line for almost 10 minutes. Take our phone out to take a picture with me. Are you tall enough sign? And we get told now they saw us with the phone. Like who doesn't have one?
Speaker: We would have to purchase a walker. Ridiculous. There should be signs. I went 20 years to ride the roller coaster. Screw them. Walked out and got a refund. For the record, nobody gave two shits that we were leaving.
Speaker: Sorry. And there were three other people in one. People say hospitality has gone down in Vegas, the city that relies on tourism. Ah, they ain't kidding. Jokes. Run by kids. I tried, guys. I tried.
Speaker: That was perfect. That had the eloquence the original author intended. This has been a dramatic reading by Riam McClendon. Excuse me, Riam Lewis. Yes, well, that's a fun new segment we're going to be doing. So, you know, if you guys can point us to any good reviews,
Speaker: Please send them in, leave them as a review yourself of this show. You know what, that's what we're gonna ask for this week. On iTunes or whatever app you're using to listen to the show, leave us a review of the worst time you've had at a theme park. Give us five stars, we'll read the best one on air. So leave that as your review this week. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: Speaking of Walker, go ahead. Go ahead. No, no, no. I was saying, speaking of Walker policy, do you guys have any parks that you don't agree with their policy for bins or lockers in general? See your point. See your point. Like most of the rides are great. I don't know why. I think it's Maverick.
Speaker: Millennium force. No, no. Maverick's great. Excuse me. Take that back. Millennium force and gatekeepers are the two that you have to have a locker for. Everything else has bins. Keep in mind, I haven't been on still vengeance yet, but I think that has lockers as well. But yeah, no vengeance has metal detectors. Yeah. Oh, Steve. Oh, Steve.
Speaker: So yeah, I mean, of my few gripes with Cedar Point, that's the biggest one. Like, just be consistent. Like, if all the rides, a locker or bins, just do it that way instead of... I just feel like, what is the real purpose of lockers other than to make money? Like, I feel like most rides, you guys don't know better than me, coaster enthusiasts and whatnot, but what rides can they not accommodate just having bins at the loading platform? I feel like that should be universal.
Speaker: I agree. You answered your own question. What happened? You said, what purpose could there be other than making money? I will say that Universal, they have free lockers for rides you can't take bags on. So that's awesome. Re -lockers for two hours, I think, at most rides. Yeah. It's still just a pain in the butt, though. It is. But I can't get backwards or something because
Speaker: Yeah, that's different. You're you're you're loading and unloading in different spots. Right. But for the most part, it's like. I think the real question about like storage for ride items or for loose articles is why does Disney have the policy that you bring all your shit on the ride and every other park follows everything Disney does except for that? It's not bad.
Speaker: Because Disney outputs so much more trains, I think, than most rides, most places. You know, they dispatch a train every 30 seconds. If, you know, every other person on a train has a bag they have to leave on the platform, that's gonna get, that's gonna be a crazy big platform and coasters with split stations. You know, you might not go back to that same side. Like Big Thunder, California Scream, and stuff like that, you know?
Speaker: Well, also Disney rides aren't don't really have any like ejector moments for items versus like, I don't know, Millennium Force going over a midway at 90 miles an hour or like going over a midway. You haven't fucking gotten on stage during a carousel of project progress show.
Speaker: I will show you and inject your moment from Disney. Nice one, baby. But I mean, Disney rides and their locker policies are the most sensible of all, although I got to say Disney is also in the position of like, we're not even checking your damn lap bar. You die, it's on you. Yeah, they like won't even go near those seats all the time nowadays.
Speaker: I mean, in most cases, if you're going to get ejected from any ride, it'd probably be best to be a Disney ride because they're mostly tame and they're going to stop the ride like right away, but you don't get hit. Wait, what Disney ride is not tame?
Speaker: He's not what? He's not tame. Rock and roller coaster. Okay. Okay. That's fair. If your restraints, not in order on rock and roller coaster, like, cause think about it. It's just a mess of steel. If you're to come out of that train at any point, you're done. It's space mountain Paris.
Speaker: Oh, yeah, that thing was fucking rough. That thing is insane. That's not even. Did you go when it was Mission 2? Okay. We went and it was a hyperspace mountain, which I was just pointing with. Yeah. Yeah. I should go back to Mission 2 or to the La Terre Aulune. Yeah, that's what it needs to do. For sure. But I wrote it six times. The line was super short. Holy cow. Me and mom, this is back in 2012, I took mom, me and Jamie's mom on a trip.
Speaker: flew out on a Friday night to Paris, got there like 9 a .m. on a Saturday, took the bus over to Marne Vallet, where, Marne La Vallet, I think it's something like that. Am I saying that right, Gina? Something like that. The town with Disneyland's in, we took the bus over there and went for the day and I think we went on Space Mountain two times and I was just done. There were no lights that day too, but
Speaker: That ride's a bit rough. It's great, but man, it's rough. I was surprised we were there in the middle of summer and the line for that was like 15 minutes. You feeling that? Yeah. But then that goes there as a pretty big capacity. It has a split station and they, you know, they have good throughput. So you guys missed Thunder though, right? No, we got, we got to ride Thunder Mountain. Um, Pirates of the Caribbean was closed.
Speaker: OK, yeah, that was a bit of a thunder at Paris. He's probably my favorite. That's a good thunder. Yeah, we got some night rides on that. That's cool. Nice. Fo sho. Anyway. What are we talking about? Bag policy, bag policy. Yeah, it all started with some bag policy talk. Excuse me. And there's segways back to Disney because
Speaker: Look, I know who's on the show. Yes, you do. Speaking of Disney, can I ask a question? I'm asking a question right now. What? I have a question about Disney. OK. How did a haunted mansion museum end up in my apartment? What are you talking about? That. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Our apartment.
Speaker: You love me. That's why. This is true. Yeah, I want to say, Zach, that you actually contributed to that. So that's kind of on you. I got I got four nano coasters on that shelf. Hey, you provided some nice in the Mara Manor on the science. Remember? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. That wasn't meant to encourage anything. No, you're an enabler. You take your responsibility for this.
Speaker: you guys. Now that you mentioned those signs, let me just real quick swing around here and look at that. There's two signs not on the museum right now that were totally personalized for Rhianne. I need to do a little bit of sprucing up on the mansion museum and get the signs out. Sorry, baby.
Speaker: I love you. So I guess the question rephrased is, how come my contributions to the museum mean so little to you? They mean everything. I just don't want I have to find something to hang them up with because they're in the nice bubble wrap and I need to find some more command ships. All right.
Speaker: Mission set. We're going to get those signs up. Yeah. I'll do that tomorrow. But this is not the home improvement product podcast. No, it's not. So what's your Disney question? Because I asked mine. Mine. I'd like to know. This is classic Disney fan question, but what is everybody's favorite Disney ride? I love everybody's been to Disney, a Disney park, right? That must be. Yes. OK. What is everybody's favorite Disney ride? John, you go first.
Speaker: I'm sorry, repeat. What is your favorite Disney ride? Any Disney park? Tower of Terror. Yes. Yes. Hollywood Studios. Hell yeah. I'm about that. Laura. Tower of Terror. Really? Yep. Yeah, I mean, the first time we rode that,
Speaker: I was laughing so hard and I couldn't stop laughing for a good 30 minutes after the ride because I had no idea what to expect. I love drops. That's my favorite part of roller coasters is that drop. Tower of Terror, man.
Speaker: Giddy, I lost my shit. I was just laughing so hard for a half hour and all I wanted to do was do that again. If you love drops, you have to go on the ride that me and Zach just went on in Colorado because holy cow. Babe, what was that called? A haunted mine drop at Glenwood Caverns.
Speaker: I will not write that for the record. I thought I'm like, no, no thanks. But hey, hey, Laura, I know that, I think I know the answer, but which one do you refer to? Do you prefer the one in California Adventure or the one in Disney World? I don't know that I know the difference enough to discern that.
Speaker: I think the one you're talking about in your story, the first time you wrote it, that was the one in California Adventure, and I think I remember you cracking up the entire time. Yeah, you remember that. Yeah, that was definitely with you. You guys been on the Guardians ride, the placement at California Adventure? No, not yet. We haven't been since 2015. Okay. Okay. John, are you not a fan? I haven't been on the revamp. Okay.
Speaker: I'm gonna tell you, I was so sad to see Tarkter go, because it's one of my favorites like you guys. That's awesome. I love Twilight Town, I love the show. But man, Guardians, they did something special there. It's a good ride. It stands well on its own, even though it seems like a simple overlay. Just the way they've integrated the music and everything, the different programs they have on the ride to adjust for the music, it's pretty awesome.
Speaker: I'm just glad they integrated it into the weaker of the two tower of terrors. It's a Disneyland fanatic. I can agree with that. I like the drop sequences. Most of the drop sequences on California venture better than Florida. The first time I rode the one in Florida, I didn't like the sequences we got. Um, but the last few times we went, I liked it a lot. Um, I'm still not going to say it's better.
Speaker: Um, a hundred percent, but I do like it more than I did the first time wrote it when I was like 17, however long ago. Okay. When I was 17. Um, so who's next? I'll go, I'll go before Rhianne. I'll go, I'll go last or whatever. What's your favorite Disney? Um, Hey, good question.
Speaker: I actually kind of liked California screaming or whatever the hell it's called now. Yeah. Yeah. Well, in my heart, it's California screaming. You got it right. Yeah, it's like in California. Yeah. Yeah. It's an all right ride. That's cute. I like it. I like the old soundtrack. Amen. Yeah. It was a very good way, right?
Speaker: It's all my name once. Yep. Yep. Zach, what's your, who's your favorite? What's your favorite? I should know this. I don't wait. I have an idea, but I'm not sure. The, um, no, the Swiss family Robinson tree house. Shut the hell up.
Speaker: Boy, I said ride. Not trek through a friggin tree house. Oh. Sorry. My guess was Splash Mountain. Is that wrong? It goes on the way home. Nah, probably, I don't know, Matterhorn? That's a good ride. It is. Oh, man. We got it. Oh. Are you guys serious? You guys love Matterhorn too?
Speaker: That's my favorite. Yeah, that's my favorite. Yeah, that's my favorite. Yeah, that's my favorite. It's such a good ride. And it's just like, it's so nostalgic and right. I don't know. I miss how. I miss how loud the Yeti used to be. You could hear him from freaking across the park. Yeah, not anymore. He's freaking out a lot now. He's freaking scary though, the way he like jumps out at you basically.
Speaker: He's geriatric now. He's a new animatronic now. He's way better. Yeah, but he also switched to decaf. It's because they closed up the Skyway, right? I think that's where a lot of the echo was. I mean, I'm totally just guessing, but my assumption is because of all the echo with the little hole they had going to Manohar Skyway, once that was closed up, it's just not the same.
Speaker: Yeah. Wait, hold on. I'm going to stop one of our commenters before they get here. Um, actually, it's because I shut the fuck up. Actually, I mean, what's yours? My favorite. Yeah.
Speaker: It's not even a question. Of course, it's Haunted Mansion. Oh, duh. If we want to get park specific, that's not a thing. But yeah, my favorite, absolute favorite Disneyland or Disney ride, excuse me, is all of the Haunted Mansions. Number one is definitely Haunted Mansion Disneyland. Wait, wait, hold on. You like Haunted Mansion? No shit.
Speaker: Maybe you should know this out of here. But I will say my favorite, my other favorite quantum ancient offshoot, which if anybody listening has never seen a video or watched or heard about it, Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland is fucking amazing. I don't know how else to put it. But if you can go, go. My hope is they bring it to one of the domestic parks someday.
Speaker: for all of us to enjoy here, but if you can get to Hong Kong, get on that ride. It's, it's, it's fabulous. That is the dark ride. I second most want to ride. First one's not no longer around, but it was nights in white satin at hard rack park. Oh, that look crazy. Like in the same way though.
Speaker: Oh man, I've never heard of it, I'll have to look it up. Yeah, look that shit up on YouTube if you're listening and haven't heard of it, both of those. Yeah, please look up Mystic Manor. That one's number one to look at, then the one's exit. Yeah, whatever I said.
Speaker: Oh, I was just saying, uh, just to like kind of go off that whole dark ride thing. Like, I really liked, uh, Winnie the Pooh honey hunt. Wait, that's your favorite Disney ride? No, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying like, uh, like good dark rides that Disney has. That's one of my favorites. That's at, um, is that the one in Tokyo? Yes, one Tokyo. Yeah, that was good. My favorite Disney ride is Matterhorn. Okay. All right. Yeah. Good answer. Good answer. Everybody had good answers. No, I'll take it back. Mine's Tomorrowline Speedway. WW. Just kidding.
Speaker: Well, if we're gonna put this positive questions stuff on them, we're gonna have to go ahead and like either go with a hot take question or one of our classic positive spin questions. Ben, which one are you thinking? We'll pose them as group questions in the same way. You pick one of them. You know our standard questions. Well, actually, let me think of something.
Speaker: Oh man, my throat fucked it up. Do you need like some tea with lemon? I need some water. Everybody can always use some water. Well, I know one. You guys, what park has the best bathrooms in your experience? That's a tough one.
Speaker: You know mine, it was a Sanaa area or other Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney World. That's out of parts though. It's close enough. Yeah, I think Disney's gotta have the best bathrooms, right? Like, I think just, you know, the cleanliness and everything that Disney does. Aren't there shitters in the Cedar Point sky, right? Stations.
Speaker: Oh, interesting. Oh, yeah. Yeah, like below it. I know, I know someone, someone who Oh, I know one I found the secret shitter in pictorium as it was being demolished. Oh, yeah, I remember that. There's a secret shitter. There's this there was a hidden shitter in pictorium.
Speaker: It was it was right next to one of the entry doors. Yeah. Like you went down a flight of stairs and surprised, you know, movies going and go take a shit. Oh, OK. That's a pretty nice like midday break, air conditioning, dark room, just like chill, take a shit. Just make sure no one's on their phone. We had a pretty
Speaker: bullshit answer to this question from our buddy Goliath that ride this one, who answered with definitely magic kingdom, but only specifically the restroom in the Cinderella suite. And I was like, wait, what? And he's like, no, no, no, look at the picture of it. And I'm like, yeah, that's amazing. But have you used it? And he was like, no.
Speaker: I will say the worst mother. Oh, go ahead. I was just saying I'm glad others said Dollywood because that was kind of my guess. The only time I've actually shit in a park was Dollywood. That's how you know the queen. Got the best seal of approval. Believe me, you don't want to see that seal. Otherwise, it's like a it's like a Howie Mandel skit if I had to actually do it.
Speaker: Followed by like I would then have to rent a hotel room. Put a rubber glove over your head. Take a full shower. Change all my clothes. And then grab the original clothes. Get matches and gasoline and then just like light myself on fire. Oof. Wash hands over stove. Well, how about how about the ones that Canada's Wonderland that you had to run to because they were so good.
Speaker: No, it's because I almost pissed myself on behemoth. That was it. That was just drinking too much Southern comfort and what I thought was lemon seltzer and it was just regular lemon water.
Speaker: So it was like awful to mix it up. I'll say, John, I'd just like to point out if you're hanging out with people who are running to bathrooms at parks just because of how good they are, you may want to reevaluate your friend selection. Yeah, it wasn't because of how good they were. That was just because I had to piss myself. And Canada's Wonderland only has like three bathrooms.
Speaker: There's one, it's like, there's one on the front, one in the middle of the mountain thing, and then there's like one in the kids section, and that's literally it. Like, there's a void of bathrooms in that place. It's like, Canadians are so polite, they don't, they're like afraid to shit in front of people.
Speaker: Or because they all have health care, maybe I get it. I get it. I got a drain, but I can hold it. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Yeah, I guess I saw the story. Guys, I got to take a piss. Well, they all have health care. Open the fucking bathroom. Please.
Speaker: Rian, what park has the best bathrooms in your opinion? No, I'm, I'm stumped here. Honestly, I want to say, oh, Disney, but like, that's not fair. Like, I'm trying to think more specific to a park I've been to. I don't know. Maybe Ferrari World. They had pretty nice bathrooms when I remember. It was so like, there was like nobody there. That probably helped, but it was just very clean and nice.
Speaker: There was even one for women. Boy! Yes, there was. Lee, I'll go with Ferrari World. Hey, Laura, what's yours? I really don't know. I'm not that picky.
Speaker: Honestly, I feel like just my thoughts, like, especially last year, Zach and I have been in a lot of parks and, you know, Jamie and Laura have been in a couple of parks with you guys. I'm like dizzy.
Speaker: Really like the standard, you know, has always been in my mind, Disney, like, oh my God, so good. That's kind of like diminishing in my mind from like, I remember we went to San Antonio, so me and Zach and Ben were there. That was our last, like, hurrah trip before COVID in the February end.
Speaker: We felt like these bathrooms sucked around a corner, man. It was great. It was clean. There was nobody in there. It was awesome. I don't think I can say Disney's got the gold standard anymore, you know? Well, I got to put in two things in that. First of all. Number one and number two? Yes, exactly. Good one. Just don't put both in the urinal. That's a bad time. Oh, my God.
Speaker: But when you're in San Antonio, you go into the bathroom just to get some fucking air conditioning for a minute. It's like it can smell like some dude's like rancid asshole and you'd still be like, well, hey, you know, at least I'm getting out of that fucking Texas sun for a minute.
Speaker: And then second is like, I grew up going to Six Flags Great America. I don't know if this is true for every Six Flags park, but there's this like memory just constantly. But every time I use the bathroom there, there's like an inch of standing water on the ground, which is just horrendous.
Speaker: Yeah, and we we've actually heard on the show that there was a time in which Magic Mountain removed the seat covers from their toilets. What? Oh, come on, do your part, y 'all. I mean, I don't know. You want that authentic prison experience, maybe. Who knows? Oh. Remember Ben Donne was talking about that and. They what?
Speaker: Oh, when they didn't have toilet seats at Magic Mountain. Oh, yeah. That sounds yeah, that sounds about right. I was just going to comment though on the have a heart or do your part have a heart. That's what it was. Thank you, Ben.
Speaker: There were times where when this shirt was rolled up in someone's back, it looked like Dua Fart. It was just a fun little thing to look at. Wait, did you guys have those bright... I remember going to... Jamie, I don't know if you were there. I did a couple of trips to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Speaker: when that was like the whole like thing they were doing and everybody's like every cast member shirt said that. Did you guys have that? Like I remember they were like these like fluorescent like green or yellow shirts. Everybody was wearing. Yeah they were yellow like crazy like. Yeah. They looked like they needed to be charged overnight.
Speaker: Anyway, I mean, good campaign. It was the one time I felt relatively good going into a Russian at Magic Mountain, but still trying to avoid that to this day beyond that. Yeah, it's like 2005 and they're like, Magic Mountain, we can now promise you won't contract AIDS in our restaurants. Oh, but X2, oh, it's my jam.
Speaker: Indeed. So good. Hey, Zach, are we still doing the hot takes for the for the new people? Yeah, sure. Spill them. All right. Do we have any off the cuff? It's got to be, I guess. Anyway, go ahead. Who's got a hot take? What do you mean? What's happening? All right. So we need a prompt. All right. Here we go. Topper track RNC.
Speaker: Is it wood or hybrid? Don't everybody answer once, though. Hybrid? Hybrid, I don't. Hybrid, baby? No. What else you answered? I don't know. I'm out. Good. Goliath had a - Just pick four or pick one. No, never mind. All right. Orion, is it a giga or no? No. No.
Speaker: No. Jayman. Oh, I already answered. What I answered last week? We're not live before this week. Huh? Yeah, we're live and now, man. Yeah. Wait, what? We're not live, but we're now.
Speaker: Wait, was I gonna answer again? Yeah! Yeah, this isn't a like part two. I know that, but I said it before on the podcast. Say it again, say it again. Fine, not a hybrid. Not a hybrid? Not a hyper, wait. Oh no, we're talking about a ride, nevermind, yeah. Oh Ryan. It wasn't a giga? Not a hyper, not a giga, excuse me.
Speaker: All right. All right. What is the most overrated roller coaster? That one that we went on that they got rid of at what was it, Kings Island? That one. Oh, for thanks. Oh, that piece of shit only got rated high once people found out it was going to get torn out. All right. Well, I mean, my my exposure to that ride was all those damn people lined up to go on it because it was closing in a month or whatever the fuck.
Speaker: That shit wasn't worth all that. Or whatever the fuck. Look, I'm not disagreeing with that. Jamin? Ora? Ben? Jamin? What's yours?
Speaker: Um, I think I'm going to go with, uh, Knott's Berry Farm, uh, Ghost Rider, but before, before the, the update, right? Cause I haven't written it after, but I fricking hated that thing. There is like literally no reason anybody should have ever written that ever. I could see it. That ride could be a real big piece of shit.
Speaker: Yeah, that was an instant migraine for me. I just saw this Tylenol before the ride, and that was fun. If you have to take drugs in order to ride a roller coaster. Yeah, you're right. That's true. Well, especially preemptively. Right. I'm freaking telling you it helped, though. It really did. Back before the track change or whatever. Yeah, it took like six Tylenol PMs. It was the craziest ride I ever went on.
Speaker: Frickin that hashtag gets a GCI now. Mm hmm. It is. Yeah. Oh, yeah, to reiterate, mine is a missing timbers. I am totally I. Who are you? You're not my brother. What? Again, that's what was your name, Jamie? Your name can't be Jamie.
Speaker: I will say that both my rides were in the back, so I don't know if the front's any better, but didn't care for it. We rode like mid -train the first time, right? Where we were back? We're back. Yeah, we rode the back. Okay, we're back. Okay. I don't know why I was thinking we were mid -train on one of the rides. I don't know.
Speaker: No, y 'all come up here with some hot takes. Ghost Rider and Mystic Timbers. That's a pair for most overrated coasters. That's hot takes for sure. Hot takes and a half, man. I don't know if this is a hot take, but I have one. What? Oh my God. I can't even get it out. I know. Here we go.
Speaker: I got a hot cake for you. What's the word? The number one ride you want to go on? The nothing on that you have to get on at some point in your life. It may be challenging, but you've got to get on it. But you've not been on it yet. What is that ride for everybody? Smiler. Oh, that's a good one. That's a good one. OK.
Speaker: I think, uh, Dinek Kanda or Asian Ika. Asian Ika. That's the X2 like one, right? No, it isn't. That's the Japanese version of X2. Yeah. OK, OK. It's not X2, though, because it was made by S &S. I apologize. It's got the full full. Actually. Actually, I was channeling another friend of ours.
Speaker: I'll say one of mine is flying dinosaur. Wait, Ben, what was your other, you said Asian Ika, what was the other one? Or I think it's called, is it Dinoconda? It's pretty much the same thing as the Asian Ika. Oh, where's that at? Dinoconda. Dinoworld China? Oh, that one's in China. Really? Oh, okay.
Speaker: Well, kind of because like in China, there's all these like Vekoma knockoff companies building weird stuff. And I like those. I don't know. Like because I always complain about new rides being just like too smooth. But like in China, they're actually like legitimately shopping carts down.
Speaker: coat wire hangers i think it's just like all experimental stuff you know what i mean so it's just that knockoff dive coaster oh yeah with the four rows drop but it's so crazy because it's got four cars and so like the fourth car you can just tell in the video it whips so hard over the drop it's probably like a dangerous amount of air time
Speaker: Knowing knowing whatever it is golden horse. So one of my golden horse like tilt coaster. Oh, God. I was going to throw a gravity max in there, gravity max or flying dinosaur. Those are pretty sick.
Speaker: Oh, fine dinosaur. Yeah, that looks really good. That's a very unique flyer. And that's one that I'd like to experience one day. Where is that? Universal Japan. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah, it looks really good. Oh, man. That's awesome. Yeah, that 540. Spin it does. It looks insane. I would want to do one of those alpine coasters that just go completely down a mountain.
Speaker: I did a couple of those in Pigeon Forge and was underwhelmed, to be honest. Oh, yeah? Because it's a controlled descent. Yeah. Yeah, I think one of the very few that are actually untrimmed, the one there's one in like New Hampshire, the Jiminy Peak, wherever that ski resort is, they have one that's not trimmed, at least it wasn't nine years ago.
Speaker: And that was such a different experience than some of them. The one in Pigeon Forge was kind of trimmed, too. It seems to be the new thing. Well, there's a couple of them in Pigeon Forge now, I think. Oh, OK. Or I think one. And there's one in Gatlinburg, too, or something. That general area. Yeah. That one at Glenwood Caverns is awesome. That was the first one I've ever been on, though. That was amazing.
Speaker: That's one of my new favorite coaster types. So maybe that was like too high of a varnish. That is my first one. But that ride was so much fun. And I didn't even like go full on that. I was too scared to. And it was still just awesome. Cool. Well, I'm going to go ahead and say G4's left coaster. Left coaster.
Speaker: Fujiama. Okay. Some Togo goodness in there for you. And of course Slinky Dog Dash. It's a good red. It's cute. I mean, I posed the question and I don't even know what mine is. You're gonna have something.
Speaker: Uh, say Chompala from, uh, Port of Ventura. Chompala from Port of Ventura. You don't like B and M's. I did not.
Speaker: I know I can be critical of B &Ms, but I mean, they're good rights. That's a good B &M. No, I think nothing in particular, but I'd say just being able to get to Energylandia would be a big accomplishment for me, like going on all that stuff. Obviously, if I'm there, I'm going to go on everything. So I think that's probably for me. I know I posed the question and did not answer the question, but the answer to my question is the theme park, Energylandia in Poland.
Speaker: Perfect. I want to ride all 10 of those kitty coasters. Gotcha. What? You betcha. I like to throw lightning run to the road into the into the ring. That was like a lot of fun. I like the Kentucky Kingdom. Yes. Yeah. That one looks pretty good because it looks like the pacing is pretty good.
Speaker: It just throws you through that layout. Super hard. Wait, wait, hold on. I always confuse those. That's the RMC that used to be twisted twins, right? No, no, no. That's that's a Kentucky thing. Lightning run is the is a chance chance. Oh, Morgan. Yeah, Morgan, that's the one. Yeah, it's the Morgan like like twisting. Twisting ones like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, yeah. The pacing on that one looks awesome. I heard the one in Mexico, Superman is really good.
Speaker: I didn't know there was a twin or a similar coaster. It's a full hyper coaster. I think the one in Kentucky Kingdom is like a mini hyper. Oh boy, that was fucking hilarious, right? Yeah, that was a great joke. I can't believe I can't believe
Speaker: that person said that thing. That was a good time. So good. So great. So fantastic. All right. Well, you know what? The truth is, I'm fucking stoked to be back. Yeah, same here. It was a nice, nice little season break. You know, thanks again for coming to the wedding.
Speaker: Yeah, no problem is a good, uh, good calculated risk. Coronavirus worth it. Agreed. Agreed. Some shit is just, uh, it's worth the risk sometime. So, uh, fucking Hey man, we're back and we'll be back doing this shit every Friday from here until next fucking August, right? Yeah, hopefully. As long as the world doesn't end.
Speaker: But it'll be internally or externally. So let's see, we did 40 episodes, so it's like 80 hours of content already. I know, right? And now we got a whole 42 to draw back on as well. So. Nobody should be disappointed unless they actually listen. Yeah, I wonder if anyone's actually listened to every episode.
Speaker: which shouts to Logan. And actually real quick, we'll do the rundown real quick. I got it open. We want to give shouts to these fine, fine, fine individuals who are supporting the show on Patreon. Y 'all are the motherfucking best. So we want to give shouts to all y 'all. Our newest Patreon, Michael Muldoon, thank you so much. Tristan Cox, thanks so much, buddy.
Speaker: I think Logan has.
Speaker: Hopefully we'll see you next time we're in Texas. Thanks to our homie, Dominic B, who's been here since day one. You know, episode one, he emailed us. Big shouts to Steven Feinberg, who's another close friend of the show. In fact, our very first ever double guest.
Speaker: let you guys figure out who that name actually belongs to. Of course, big shouts to Daniel Puckett, our homie Shockwave Dan down there in Texas. Big shouts. You guys, you and Nick, great.
Speaker: shout outs to our homie Nathan Hart. Man, thanks a bunch for the support. Hopefully you can join us on the next Zoom call, man. We all want to get to know you, learn a little about you. Shouts to our patron and homie, big, big buddy, not in terms of physical size, but good friend for a number of years, Jonathan Hawkins.
Speaker: representing the city in New York. Good for him. Great dude. Good people, of course, shouts to our homie, Jared Mullen. And again, hopefully you can join us on our next Patreon Zoom call, buddy. We want to learn what you're all about, man. Huge shouts to, I think, a day negative two supporter of the show, Brandon Carter.
Speaker: who's been a homie for a long time. Thanks so much for your support, man. We appreciate it. Huge shouts, of course, to our buddy Ryan Shoemaker holding shit down out at Cedar Point, man. And shit, glad we could make that hookup for you with Brandon. You guys got to connect and all that shit. That was a fun.
Speaker: kind of weird inception moment of one of our awesome patron zoom calls and of course number one homie for for for as long as we've had this patron thing going on patreon thing going on logan logan our fucking homeboy from canada who is i believe our number one fan
Speaker: So big shouts to all of you guys. Y 'all are the real shit for real. We appreciate it.
Speaker: Yeah, not enough we can do to say thank you for all that. So not to get sappy on you, but we, of course, want to give big thanks to these folks. And if you're on the fence, if you're thinking about joining us over on Patreon, I will let you know we have something we have not started advertising over there yet because I am a lazy ass, but we are doing a monthly Zoom call.
Speaker: So every month we get all of our Patreon homies together at a time that works for as close to everybody as possible. We all get together on Zoom and we just shoot the shit. It's a motherfucking party. Ain't that right, Ben? Yeah, it's worth the money. I think you should just unsubscribe from a few of your only fans channels. Like there's plenty of porn out there for free. Cancel that and join us where.
Speaker: You'll probably see just as much porn, to be honest. And you probably will get linked to a lot of additional porn. Yeah, that's true. That's also free. I mean, that might be a season two perk. Ben's picks. Ben's picks. Well, he started with that one with the A -shirt.
Speaker: and that's that's a joke for our patreon homies who are on the last zoom call and i'll let you know these zoom calls to join in that's starting to set our lowest tier which is just a buck a month yo that ain't shit kick us a bump buck a month y 'all can join us on the next zoom call kind of like doing an episode but uh it's just all of us kicking it for like four hours
Speaker: You know, you're on Zoom like 40 hours a week anyway because of your job. So might as well join us. Well, we don't care. Right. We don't care if you're not wearing pants and drinking. Because we're doing the same. I mean, we'll be honest. But yeah, our crew over on Patreon is a fantastic group of folks. So, you know, consider joining up. Of course, we'll also give you the shout outs right here on the show.
Speaker: Because that's what we do. We appreciate our patrons. They are what keeps this show ticking, I guess. That's a weird way of saying it. Takes a lick and keeps on. OK, this is getting weird. Forget it. Thank you to all our Patreon homies. This is obviously part one of our big two part season two epic premiere.
Speaker: So we got season two or season two. Season two is started, y 'all. We had episode two of season two coming up next week. Part two to this shit right here. We had a whole bunch of other group discussions for everyone who was at the wedding. It was a good time. That was a fun time recording that night and at the wedding, right? Yeah, from what I remember. Same same.
Speaker: I mean, it was it was fun when I was listening back to what we had recorded. It's a good time. It's always kind of scary, though, when like you don't remember recording. It's like, oh, man, what's that episode? Yeah, yeah. That's why I'm glad I added these things, you know.
Speaker: Nothing too embarrassing to get out there, except for our Patreon homies. Once again, you join us at a certain Patreon tier. You got access to completely unedited episodes, which is also kind of scary, but we'll do it if you pay us. So. Oh, you know what? Since we're talking about Patreon, I also feel like I have to mention that we have our first Patreon goal set up.
Speaker: And that is $100 a month. If we reach $100 a month, you know what we have promised to do at $100 a month, Ben? What was that again? We have promised to do the show live for our patrons. So we'll have to figure that out as we get nearer to that. We're a little under halfway there. So if we come closer, we'll have to put some work in.
Speaker: to doing that. We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Doesn't mean we can't still edit the final product, but, you know, to be able to do the show live in front of the patrons. So just to put that out there, if you guys are listening, this is an oh shit moment for us. But if you get us two hundred dollars a month, we'll we'll fucking do this shit live for you. So for whatever that's worth. Now it's out there.
Speaker: Yeah, so part two of this is coming up next week. And we got some other great shit lined up for season two, don't we, Ben? Yep, there's a lot of a lot of it. A lot of great content. Well, we've been we've been spending a good amount of time on the season break refining our our comedy chops, as it were. Right, I mean, we're putting in a good amount of work.
Speaker: Yeah, it's almost like a real job. Well, at least the pay is great, right? Great benefits. Yeah, exactly. Health plan, retirement 401k. Anyway, we love this shit. And we've been working hard on it for you guys. We love doing it. We love delivering this product. So
Speaker: product. I'm a fucking salesman. But I'm also a salesman. All right. I don't know where the fuck I'm going with this. We got to get the normal plugs in there. We did mention in the episode this week you leave us a review on whatever app you use to listen to the show. We want a five star review as always, but we want your review
Speaker: of the worst visit you've ever had to a theme park. So review the park from the worst visit you've ever had. Best one will read it on the show, right? It's a new segment we're trying out for season two, shitty reviews of amusement parks or coasters. Yeah, they can be retro. They can be retro, old. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Oh, yeah, make it up, whatever. We had a good one for Mount Olympus.
Speaker: And we did read that one on air. So, you know, leave us a review, a shit review of a park, but make sure you give the podcast five stars. That's the important thing. Just say a bad review. So if you leave us five stars, say a bad review, we will read it on air. It'll be a fun time for everybody or, or, or, or you can call in.
Speaker: with a real live shitty review of a park. We only want shitty reviews of parks. But give us your shittiest review of a park and we'll play it on air. It will be a lot of fun. So you leave a voicemail there. And again, the number is 312 -572 -9552. We would love to hear from you. We will play it on the show. It'll be a lot of fun.
Speaker: and leave us a voicemail.
Speaker: Fuck, we're on the socials and we've been real active on there. Ben's kind of holding down the Facebook because I'm not really so much on there, but we're both doing the Instagram. We are posting a lot of shit over there. Things are going good. We are on Twitter. YFCS underscore pod. The Instagram is your favorite coaster sucks. And of course, Facebook is your favorite coaster sucks.
Speaker: on that is you are favorite coaster s u x on face book and we're on tumblr so when you get sick of finding all porn like ben does you can find us and find all our awesome content there um of course we are on the patreon but we already covered plenty of that you can kick us some bones there
Speaker: We had a back catalog of 42 episodes now, Ben, so we can promote that, too. There's 42 other episodes you can listen to, and I re -uploaded the first episode for everyone who was interested in hearing how shitty we were and comparing it to how shitty we still are.
Speaker: the fuck else? I don't know. Oh, I forgot to mention on Patreon, we make bonus episodes. So at a certain tier there, we have an extra couple hours of content a month. Those are fun, right, Ben?
Speaker: I mean, overwhelmingly, of course. The bonus content. Yeah, that's that's a real the real goal to the show. No, but you can check it out there. It's available there. Do we have anything else we need to plug or say? Man, Olympus still sucks. Steel Vengeance is just OK. It's all I want to say.
Speaker: That's fair. That's fair. We'll accept it. I'm going to go ahead and say wash your damn hands. Wear a fucking mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Cancel Kentucky Kingdom. That too. And fuck that guy. Fuck that guy. And fuck Ace. Maybe maybe he'll come on the show.
Speaker: Do we want him on the show? Why not? It'd be funny. All right. How about this, y 'all? Shit. Let us know if you want to see Kumba Alex Bush studios on the show. We'll ask him on what the hell went on. Send us an email, DM us on Instagram, tweeted us, whatever the fuck.
Speaker: You know how to get a hold of us. So let us know if you want to see that douchebag on the show. We'll have them on. We'll invite anybody on. We're still working on getting Rob Alvey here. Rob, please. Come on. We got anything else? If if Rob Alvey comes on the show.
Speaker: that you will have to have like that'd be funny to do a live show with Rob Elby. Oh, that would be amazing. I'm kind of sweating, thinking about the perspective of recording these live in front of an audience, even if it's all through Skype or whatever, right? Yeah.
Speaker: But I mean, it will it will be worth it. If we're making 100 bucks a month, right? Yeah, hopefully. Pay off, pay off some debt that one. Oh, yeah. After a year, I could pay one month around. That's a lot. That's a lot.
Speaker: But no, um, we, you know, we, we're not too scared. We're not too scared to say, bring it on. But the thing I'm, I'm even more scared of is that making this plea will reach that. And then we'll have to think of another goal.
Speaker: Yeah, I don't even want to think about after that. I mean, what is that poll? Like a coaster studios gay Mormon style Christmas event in like a cabin. Well, if we if we have that many people supporting us financially, then we probably would have a big enough audience to be able to do a coaster event. At a
Speaker: It have to, I, that's a good idea, but it'd be funny if it was like ironic, like, uh, at the arc experience.
Speaker: Well, we'll figure something out once we are, once we reach about three quarters of the way to that first goal, and we have to start doing the shows live, then we'll figure out what the next one's going to be. I think it would be 500 and we'll host an event twice a year. Yeah, that's good. Yeah.
Speaker: Look, I don't want to set up too much fucking work for us. We'll get back to hosting events. We had the meetup in Texas. That was fantastic. It was great to meet everyone who came out. Tristan, Dan and Nick. We'll have more. Once everything kind of settles down with the whole world.
Speaker: So, fuck it, we got anything else to close this shit out? No, I think we'll just look forward to season two, hopefully some parks open. So we don't have to mainly cover enthusiast drama, even though that's really fun. Yeah, yeah, no, we're going to have this great, awesome time of covering the offseason in between this season.
Speaker: That's going to be. Yep. I don't want to I don't want to spoil upcoming content, but and we won't go on a tangent too long about this, but it's already been announced that Six Flags has pushed back all 2020 rides to 2021. Probably for the better, just just give up. Let this year pass.
Speaker: I agree. I agree. I'm just saying that this offseason is going to be a tricky one to cover. Hopefully we can get just as many awesome guests in this offseason as we did last year. Yeah. But we'll try. We'll try. With that said, you know, also email us your favorite coaster sucks at Gmail dot com.
Speaker: Let us know. Do you want to hear anybody on the show in particular? Maybe you even want to be on the show. Fuck it. Let us know a little something about yourself and maybe we'll have you on. Hopefully we won't end up in another situation like we've had with. Couple guests here, only a couple. Most everyone's been pretty cool, but you know.
Speaker: We'll do our best to make it entertaining. We'll get the fart button. Yeah, we have to replace the sound bite on that because right now it's just a woman crying. All right. All right. So, fuck, it's good to be back in it. Yeah, I can't believe it's been a fucking year. I mean,
Speaker: I've been in this apartment for a year and I'm getting out of it tomorrow. That's like, it's going to be a life changing. Congratulations. Congratulations. For sure. You're moving down the street, right?
Speaker: Yep, I'm moving up the hill. So if you've seen Frasier, the view of like how to how to window, that's basically the kind of you all have just slightly a little further to the west. So I can fulfill my Frasier role, place fantasy. Nice, nice. It's going to be with Niles or Eddie.
Speaker: I was going to say maybe the recliner. All right. Well, we're not going to top that. Let's get the fuck out of here. All right. Fuck it. Thanks so much for listening. Thanks for holding through the break for us. Thank you for washing your hands and wearing a mask and being kind to each other.
Speaker: And until next time, your favorite poster sucks.
