Are your livestreams feeling more like talking to crickets than building community? This week, we’re getting to the heart of what actually creates clients and fans in your audience: connection. I’m walking you through my real-world strategies to boost engagement—not just during your stream, but before and after—so you start turning listeners into genuine supporters (and buyers).

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why your audience isn’t showing up—and the 3 phases where connection really starts
  • The exact pre-show moves that fill your chat with real people, not tumbleweeds
  • Live engagement prompts that work—even when nobody’s talking back
  • What to do after you hit “End” to nurture relationships and keep your brand top of mind
  • How to handle livestream hiccups (tech fails included!) without losing trust or momentum
  • My mindset for making every viewer count—even if you only see one

Whether you’re just starting with video or looking to revive your livestream game, this episode will show you how to see possibility—and take action that’s right for your life and business.

Building Audience Connection

00:00:21
Speaker
Alrighty folks, once again, Tanya Smith here, and I wanna refresh your memory on what the tonight's topic is. What are we gonna be talking about, right? And I wanna talk a little bit about why these tips matter because they do.
00:00:33
Speaker
So here's what I'll say first. um To reaffirm, what we're going to focus on is building stronger connection with your audience. And one of the things that I like to teach, and I actually just did this, did a class on this with my Signature Stream Accelerator program members,
00:00:51
Speaker
I want to share with you that engagement doesn't just start and end with the actual live stream. It starts before it happens during, and then it happens after your live streams. And why do you care?
00:01:05
Speaker
Because these strategies are going to help you to create more of an experience that's going to keep people engaged and coming back. And specifically why this matters is that connection really is the secret to your growth.
00:01:17
Speaker
So when I teach people about how to use live stream marketing as a strategy, it's not just about let me get on video and just say what I did or what I ate today or where I hung out today. No, it's about really having purpose and intention and making an intentional impact on the people that you're serving through that venue, through that video.
00:01:40
Speaker
So the connection is the secret sauce. And in order for you to really make that connection, one of the things that you absolutely have to do is to engage folks right now for service

Purposeful Live Stream Marketing

00:01:52
Speaker
providers. It means that you're building trust and you're attracting the right clients for content creators. It means that you're growing a loyal community that's going to show up and that's going to support your work.
00:02:02
Speaker
Now, I tend to have a pretty lively group of folks that hang out with us here on Thursday nights. ah I need to make sure I do better about communicating that it's at a later time because usually I see some folks that are not here just yet, but I know you'll be popping up.

Improving Engagement Tips

00:02:18
Speaker
But when you share with people what you're going to be talking about and give them advance notice, which we'll cover in just a second, you're more likely to actually have those active, engaged people who are super fans or become super fans, even if they're not at the very moment that they first join in.
00:02:38
Speaker
Now, what I'm going to do is I will share with you three specific tips. Before they I do that, let me check something really quick here because I think there was a tool or platform I wanted to use that I think is not quite working, which is okay.
00:02:55
Speaker
It's fine. We'll keep it going. But I'm going to check it out and just make sure.
00:03:02
Speaker
right. Yeah, we may not be able to show it to you, but what I will do is I will make sure that you have access to the tool that I'm thinking of. Because for whatever reason, it decided not to show up today. That's okay.
00:03:16
Speaker
All right. So let's dive in. And what I'm going to do first is I'm going to share with you what we're going to share, what we're going to talk about so that you have that information.

Structuring Content for Connection

00:03:25
Speaker
Okay. The first thing I want to share with you is that really, as I mentioned, your engagement and your connection really take place in three parts.
00:03:35
Speaker
So I want you to think about your stream and as you're creating the content for the stream and you're structuring things, these are places where you can build in opportunities for connection. It doesn't guarantee you're going to have connections. Sometimes you're going to have light ah days or evening, whatever time of day or a night that you're doing this.
00:03:56
Speaker
And sometimes you're going to have heavier connection. you're going to have people that are really, really like just all in. The thing is you want to prepare either way. And so what I tend to do is to prepare in these three parts. So I'm looking at how do I prepare for the pre-stream events?
00:04:13
Speaker
How do I prepare for the during the stream events? And then what am I doing after the stream? And so that's where I want us to focus is on all three of those spaces. And we're going to start with number one.
00:04:26
Speaker
And so let's get you over here. And again, if you do have any follow up questions or comments, if there's anything that's just like really like, hey, that's a light bulb moment for me.
00:04:37
Speaker
Put that into the chat so that I can make sure that I address and acknowledge you. OK.

Pre-Stream Promotion Strategies

00:04:42
Speaker
All right. So connection starts before you ever hit the go live button, y'all.
00:04:49
Speaker
And when you're thinking about pre-live stream excitement, there's really a couple of different things that you want to think about. First of all, you want to start promoting early and you want to connect with an attention getting title and thumbnail. So I want you to think about this as you're creating your stream.
00:05:08
Speaker
One of the things that I prefer to do And I'm not going to say I started doing this right off the bat because I honestly had to learn to do this. But I research and I look for ways to make sure that my title is something that's engaging, that's going to capture attention.
00:05:23
Speaker
And sometimes I'll actually change that title up a little bit. either right before the stream or after the stream even to ensure that I'm getting the maximum optimization. So search engine optimization is a thing, but also making sure that your title is user friendly and it's something that people can get, like they understand this is what that means, right?
00:05:46
Speaker
The other thing in terms of their thumbnail is that you want it to be something that is really reflective of what your show is going to be about. So whatever the content is going to be about, it should be reflected in the thumbnail.
00:05:59
Speaker
Now, I know there's a lot of Canva users and other types of users right out there. And some of this stuff looks pretty and you have a lot of words on it. But that's not going to be useful when it comes to attracting people to your show and specifically when it comes to YouTube.
00:06:15
Speaker
I want you to think about and treat your feed as though it's like a Netflix show. So, you know, when you're scrolling through on Netflix and if you can't quite read the name or the title, you might skip and go on by to the next video or the next movie or the next series or whatever it is.
00:06:33
Speaker
So you want to make sure that people are clear on exactly what you're going to be talking about. And again, that you have an attractive thumbnail. There's a whole lot of other reasons why that's important, too. That begins the engagement and the connection. Being able to connect with your audience means that you're giving them a reason to show up.
00:06:51
Speaker
You're explaining or sharing or giving them access to information about what you're even going to be talking about in the first place. And that comes with those things that you do pre-live stream.
00:07:02
Speaker
So a couple of other tips. Let's pop those up. You're also going to share some teaser content. So maybe going to share a social media post that have some questions that are really in anticipation of what the show is going to be about.
00:07:18
Speaker
You're gathering information up front so that you know how to pivot and change up the way that you're going to be delivering the content. Another thing you're going to do is to send a reminder ahead of time so that people know that you're going to be going live at that specific time and day. So one of the things that I like to do besides sending an email to my list is I also like to go in maybe an hour or two before the live is actually going active.
00:07:47
Speaker
And I will say, hey, just as a reminder, I'm going to be live on this time. Right. And that way you're setting people up to be notified. So what if they haven't clicked the bell to be alerted on your YouTube channel and you happen to be on Facebook or LinkedIn or other spaces?
00:08:05
Speaker
This just gives that extra little reminder and puts you in front and top of mind with your potential viewers. So the pre-stream live excitement is really important to begin the connection and engagement process.
00:08:22
Speaker
But then what do you do next?

Real-Time Audience Interaction

00:08:24
Speaker
Well, that's when you go into the second set of your live stream engagement process. And that is right here on tip two.
00:08:36
Speaker
So this is during the stream. Now, during the stream, your chat really becomes the heartbeat of your stream. it's It's where you're going to have the discussion. It's where people are asking questions and they're commenting and they couldn't wait for you to show up and be live.
00:08:53
Speaker
And usually, and this is why I need to check and see what is going on, but usually I'll have people here live that are hanging out. But again, because we're a little bit later than normal,
00:09:04
Speaker
I'm curious about whether or not some folks got the message. So let's double check and see. One of the things that I absolutely love to do is to create engagement prompts. So let me share a little bit about what I mean. When I say engagement prompts, I mean you're asking questions, simple questions where your viewers can respond quickly so they don't get lost.
00:09:28
Speaker
So for instance, if I asked right now, Hey, how many of you have actually been doing or focusing purposefully on your engagement process when you're going live?
00:09:39
Speaker
Type in a one if that's you. Type in a two if you hadn't thought about it yet. But now this is triggering some ideas for you. Giving people something simple like that as an exercise in an assignment is really helpful to encourage people to interact in the chat.
00:09:57
Speaker
The other thing you want to do is to acknowledge people by name. So if you have folks that are showing up and they're doing due diligence to say hello and they're popping in the comments and saying they're an OG or a newbie or whatever it might be, you're acknowledging them by name to say, hey, I just love to see you and I'm so glad that we had an opportunity to do this together, John, or thanks, Dan, for showing up or hey, Marie, or whoever it might be, right? Saying people's names really endears them to you.
00:10:29
Speaker
And it reminds them or or shows them that you actually care that they showed up because they could have spent that time anywhere else and not just

Small Audience, Big Impact

00:10:39
Speaker
with you.
00:10:40
Speaker
So showing that acknowledgement absolutely builds on the connection and helps you to be more, um helps people to be more engaged in what you're talking about because they feel like you're actually talking to them.
00:10:53
Speaker
Now, what if you're just building things out and you have yet to really build an audience? I get it. Sometimes it's going to be like crickets, right?
00:11:05
Speaker
That's okay. What I want you to do is to focus on that one person that could potentially be impacted by what you're sharing. That one person is enough.
00:11:16
Speaker
And especially as you're starting out because you're building up your confidence muscle and you're starting to learn what you like and what you don't like. And so taking the time to actually show up and to put it on your best face and to do your best content, to share your best content that's going to be impactful and is going to um be a value to the person on the other end.
00:11:37
Speaker
That is so key. That's important. And it's relevant. And it helps you to continue to figure out what's working and what's not working so that as you do future live streams, you know when people are um really kind of engaging and connecting, right?
00:11:54
Speaker
All right, let's do this. One of the things I want to do really fast, because we did have an update on Ecamm Live. I'm going to double check and make sure I'm not missing some comments here. All right.
00:12:12
Speaker
Yeah, see, I see a bunch of you here. ah there you are, folks. I couldn't see the chat, John. couldn't see the chat.
00:12:24
Speaker
So there must have been a little quirk or something that happens. I have Ecamm Live beta. And so, you know, with beta, sometimes things just don't work as planned. So let me do this. I'm not going to be able to pull up your comments. For some reason, I can't see them in here.
00:12:38
Speaker
But I will tell you that I see you on YouTube. So I'm going to go ahead and acknowledge, first of all, Dan Tanna. Good to see you. What's up? What's up? What's up? I see Sparrow in the house. I see Kim Young. Y'all, look at this.
00:12:55
Speaker
So normally I will have your um comments popping up and flying across the screen. But for whatever reason, because there's a little glitchy thing happening, I can't see them. Thank you, John Lacey, for confirming.
00:13:07
Speaker
and Dan said, yeah, he's got a fire. Yep, person. Okay. Yes, to the one person. Let me get back to that and say this. And I will, I'm just going to like spend time going back and forth between the YouTube screens. So since I can't show your comments today, for whatever reason, they're just not showing. I'll report this to Ecamm afterwards. But what I will do, and Hicks is in the house too. Holy moly.
00:13:35
Speaker
Holy moly. Yeah. OK, so I got some heavy hitters that are up in here and I didn't even get to acknowledge you. So, look, it was charge it to my head and not my heart, because, you know, you know, you're all OGs that I'm seeing in here. Most of you, I think I see one or two who are newbies.
00:13:54
Speaker
What I love to do is to engage with comments. So it's funny that we're talking about engagement. and And I couldn't see your comments. Okay, we're going to keep on going, but I will come back and I will answer questions. So feel free to go ahead and pop up anything that you need on here. I do see a couple of questions that I want to answer. um Let's see.
00:14:18
Speaker
Kim Young, what do you use to stream software or services? Okay, so I use Ecamm Live, which usually works like a charm, but there was a recent update with a lot of really fun things that they've added.
00:14:31
Speaker
So for some reason, it looks like there's a little glitch that's happening with the comments section. Um, Ecamm live is my primary, and then I also use restream live. So I'll answer that and then I'll get ready to go into tip number three in a second.
00:14:44
Speaker
Um, the other question was from John Lacey. Did you retire the app therapy club podcast feed? I did put a hold. I put a pause on the App Therapy Club podcast, John, because what I was discovering is that at the end of last year, there were some really funky things happening with some of the apps, particularly ones that I really loved and I had promoted and shared with my community.
00:15:10
Speaker
And they were going out of business. and not in a good way. So there were some things that made me pause and I said, you know what, right now I'm going to do more reviews on some of the longer term sustainable platforms that have been around and I'm going to kind of rethink my strategy for App Therapy Club.
00:15:32
Speaker
So we'll be back. We're just on pause with that particular podcast. Hicks said, I like them live motion transitions. Me too, except that i I hate that they've somehow booted out my comments.
00:15:44
Speaker
All right. Stacy said, Happy New Year, Tanya. Happy New Year to you too. I love it. Okay. I did all of them on my Thursday lives. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Okay.
00:15:58
Speaker
Thank you, y'all, for letting me know you're here. What's good, JP High Tech? I can't show your comments on screen, but I see you. I see you. We're like right here. OK, so let me get back to I'm going to go back into tip number two. So if you do have comments, questions, et cetera, what I may need to do is to also pull up my LinkedIn feed to make sure that I'm able to view you all as well. So let me try to do that real quick in case you have questions.
00:16:26
Speaker
um And then next time we'll make sure we'll test before before we go

Handling Technical Issues

00:16:33
Speaker
live. I'm going to test tomorrow, actually, or maybe even again tonight to make sure those comments come back.
00:16:39
Speaker
OK, so here's what we will do. Stacey Moore, wonderful. Good to see you, OG. um I'm popping back up on question or not question, but tip number two. So we were talking about chatting during the stream. So here we are. Right.
00:16:55
Speaker
Here we are chatting. This truly is the heartbeat of your stream. You can notice that I kind of got a little lift and you will too. When you have those conversations in the stream, when you start having these discussions with people back and forth and acknowledging them and answering questions and saying their names, that's what gives you energy, but also it shows up as social proof On your video, it it turns into something that becomes less of you being a talking head, more of you being in an actual interactive conversation. And I'll tell you that one of the things I am going to be experimenting with here coming up soon.
00:17:34
Speaker
So you guys get ready, get ready. um is I will be connecting either I'm going to do phone call ins, which I don't necessarily love, but I'm either going to do that or I will do Zoom.
00:17:47
Speaker
um i will be connecting my Ecamm Live with Zoom so that you can pop into a waiting room and I can pull you up on screen to ask your questions live. So I'm really kind of excited about that part because that is engagement in action. Like that's a beautiful thing when you're able to really help people and make an impact in real time.
00:18:08
Speaker
So super thrilled about that. And I hope that will be fun for you too. What's up, Roy? I see tech troublemaker in the house too. All right. I really wish that your comments would pop up, but it says there was an error loading comments.
00:18:24
Speaker
That's what it says. So I'm going to try one quick thing and see if this resolves it. And if it doesn't, we will just keep it moving. um Let me do, let's see if we can pull it up right here.

Post-Stream Engagement

00:18:37
Speaker
Nope, it still says there's an error. So, yeah, my apologies, y'all. I guess it's the software. It's all good, though. Okay. All right. Hit the hay. Ciao.
00:18:48
Speaker
We'll see you next time, Kim Young. Let's go into tip number three. But before I do that, I have a quick teeny tiny little commercial. And the reason for this is because I promised myself that this year I would make sure that you know about the different programs that we have.
00:19:06
Speaker
We do some really amazing stuff when it comes to the live stream. Like I love doing this podcast. Most Thursdays, I love to be able to be in commune with you and to network with you and to answer questions and to talk with you.
00:19:20
Speaker
But I really, really absolutely love teaching and training. So I'm going to share a really quick. It's a promo about my live stream launchpad challenge that's coming up on Monday.
00:19:31
Speaker
And let's hear a little bit about someone who's been through a previous challenge. The one she's going to talk about was five days. The one we're doing starting Monday is three, but it's going to be very similar. And it's helping you if you this is your first or go around with live streaming or if you're trying to improve your process of going live.
00:19:50
Speaker
That's what this is about. OK, and when I come back, we'll finish number three. I'll answer any other questions that you have and then we'll get ready to wrap up. Here we go.
00:20:02
Speaker
Hello, my name is Sonya Moore, CEO and owner of Moore Planning and Consulting. And I just want to say that this challenge was fabulous. I used to do Facebook lives many, many months ago, but I just didn't feel equipped. I didn't feel confident. So I stopped doing them and I needed additional help, but I just didn't know how to get it or who to go to.
00:20:23
Speaker
And then I came across Tanya Smith. and she shared this challenge so i jumped on it and for five days she held our hands she gave us small easy assignments that were executable she gave us feedback answered all the questions that we had so by the fourth day we were very equipped to go live on facebook So if anyone is nervous and they need help, I truly, truly and highly recommend this course because it will change your life. It has changed mine because now I feel equipped and ready to do more Facebook lives and to come off. professional without having all the professional equipment. So I really hope that if you're wondering what you can do and how to get help, definitely check out Tanya Smith in this challenge because it will change your life for you, your brand and your business. Thank you.
00:21:47
Speaker
So we're talking about connecting. And so here's what I want you to know about tip number three. After the stream, after the stream is almost just as important as before and during. As a matter of fact, literally all three of these parts matter.
00:22:05
Speaker
So your engagement doesn't just start and end with the chat. It starts before you're thinking about what can I do to engage people and to get them interested and you know, invite them to be in the space with me right inside my little home online on my video.
00:22:24
Speaker
How do you do that? And then when you're on the screen, How am I engaging and making sure people are showing up and that they're interacting and that they love what they're hearing and that they're learning and something is changing in their brain cells to where they're going to do things differently.
00:22:43
Speaker
And then the after matters, too. So I've got some tips on that. Before I go into those tips, let me just double check something. ah Lost audio, too.
00:22:55
Speaker
Let me see. Let me double check. I'm back. OK. Yeah, I think that you might have you might not have heard me when I was talking on the live stream launchpad slide.
00:23:07
Speaker
This is interesting. OK, so this is also good. Let me share why it's good that these things are happening. It's good because as some of you know. When you are going live, not everything is going to be perfect.
00:23:21
Speaker
So some things are just going to happen. What you will learn to do is to roll with the punches. What you will learn to do is to have backups in place.
00:23:32
Speaker
Look, last time we were together, guess what happened? My camera just like died. i don't even know what it was. I think it was something with a cord that I ended up replacing, but...
00:23:44
Speaker
It died. And guess what I was able to do? Recover in seconds by going to a backup camera that I had. So these are the type of things that you're going to learn when you're in classes with me because I'm going to teach you how to prepare so that you don't get rattled, so that you don't give up.
00:24:00
Speaker
Because the minute you give up, you're giving up not on yourself, but on the people who need to hear what you have to share. So I take it as ah a good lesson for myself, but also a good lesson in that you're seeing in live action that there are things that can happen that can go wrong and it's still okay.
00:24:22
Speaker
No one's being hurt with the making of this video. It's all good. So, yeah, the one scene with the image to the course. That's what I thought it might be, John. So thank you for confirming that.
00:24:37
Speaker
All right. So let me I'm going to do a final on this tip three and kind of dive into this one a little bit more. So when after the stream, when you're done with your stream, what are you doing to engage? You might be like, well, Tanya, the stream is over. So now what?
00:24:53
Speaker
Well, now what is that you're following up? because you're making sure that if there were comments that you needed to respond to and you somehow missed, you're going back into your feed wherever you were live and you're responding and you're answering questions if you can, right?
00:25:10
Speaker
So I don't do this just immediately after the stream, but I'm also looking even a few days later to see, hey, were there people that watched the replay that had some thoughts?
00:25:20
Speaker
And one of the other things that I've done is inside of my social media media, Scheduling tool, I use one called Vista Social. You might be using something else. So check your social scheduler to see if you have this.
00:25:35
Speaker
But I use something called the Social Inbox. So my Social Inbox gathers comments and feedback from every social media platform that I'm on, as well as YouTube, right?
00:25:47
Speaker
So anywhere where people might be commenting in that way, I can scan that through the day, make sure that I'm responding to folks. I mean, literally, you don't have to necessarily have a team to do that unless you are someone who now has blown up and you' you're like a you've got a huge following and you just can't manage it.
00:26:07
Speaker
When it gets to that point, you probably need to outsource some. But I actually like to personally respond to folks, especially when it comes to my YouTube channel, but also with my other channels as well.
00:26:18
Speaker
If people are taking the time to acknowledge and to visit and to watch my videos, and to comment and to ask questions, then I'm going to take the time to respond. That is part of the engagement factor as well. So you saw my note in regards to reacting to comments.
00:26:35
Speaker
Another thing you're going to do to increase engagement and to connect with your audience is to repurpose key points. So there are gonna be key things and messages that you've shared in your video that you now are re-sharing, right? Because maybe somebody missed the long video, but that one point that you made in bullet number two was just what that person needed to hear. And now they're intrigued and they think, oh, I wanna go back and see the longer video.
00:27:07

Right. So that's the kind of reason these are reasons why we don't just do this stuff because we want to stay visible, although that's part of it, too. We also do this because we're continuing the cycle of engagement and nurturing and connection.
00:27:22
Speaker
The third way that you can connect and continue to nurture and engage folks is to ask your community what they want to learn about next. So during this stream, you can ask this question, but also in your community and in your spaces where you are, you're listening.
00:27:40
Speaker
You're listening for people's questions around your niche and your expertise so that you can then create your next videos around that. Not only are you researching through asking them directly, but you're also taking the time to go and research other platforms.
00:27:56
Speaker
Some of the platforms that I like to frequent to find out what are people talking about when it comes to streaming into video. I might look at Quora.com. I might look at Amazon to see what kind of bestsellers are out there that are focused in my niche and what are some of the chapters that somebody's done research and development on.
00:28:16
Speaker
And maybe I'm going into Facebook groups or LinkedIn groups or other spaces where people are asking questions about video. And I'm thinking, OK, based on the questions that they're asking, these are nuggets for me to build on my next video.
00:28:33
Speaker
Now, there are other strategies as well that I tend to teach in my programs and courses. So feel free, if you haven't already, to go and check out our web website at streamlikeaboss.tv.
00:28:44
Speaker
And there you'll be able to find that programs tab so that you can get to the challenge. We start on Monday. It's one of four challenges we're going to be doing over this quarter. So excited to be able to serve you in that way, too.
00:28:58
Speaker
Let me double check and see if I've got some questions and some comments. I see Carlos Tacos. Carlos, you know I love to put you up on screen, but for whatever reason, have an error loading my comments this time. So I can't show anyone's comments and I don't.
00:29:15
Speaker
Unfortunately, i should, but I don't have my backup plan ready for that. So it's all good. i see that you're there. Lavon Weaver, greetings.
00:29:26
Speaker
If anyone has popped in that is new to the show, feel free to pop in a hashtag newbie and pop in hashtag OG. If you've been here before, even if you've seen one video, you're now family, as we always say.
00:29:40
Speaker
So look, I'm going to do a quick recap and we're going to talk a little bit about all three of these in a quick recap. And one of the things that I want to make sure to do is to allow you the opportunity to ask questions. So if there's something that's on your mind that you need to know,
00:29:55
Speaker
Or you want to know, go ahead and pop it into the chat. Now, specifically, I'm able to see YouTube right now, but I'm also going to go. I know. Don't cry, Carlos. I got you next time.
00:30:08
Speaker
Come back. You know, I'm going to pop you up on screen. I got to give you some some tacos love. Carlos Tacos, y'all, on YouTube. um Let me check a couple of other places real quick here and see if I'm missing comments in those but spaces as well.
00:30:23
Speaker
um Let's see. I'm going to check on my Facebook page real fast and see who's here. All right. Yep. I see some folks in there, too.
00:30:34
Speaker
Yep. Stacy said all of these points work. I did all of them on my Thursday lives. Yes. Yes. Yes. Sparrow. Thanks for the gems.
00:30:46
Speaker
You're welcome. Okay. Let's recap and then we'll close things out y'all and I'll give you back your night. um Here's my notes. Let's pull them up.
00:30:58
Speaker
We're going to pull up that first slide. All right. So we talked about pre-streamed. So the first thing I want you to remember is that when you are connecting and when you are nurturing your audience, yes, you can absolutely do this with email. That's what everybody talks about all the time is email. But live streaming is also a very powerful lead magnet and a way for you to connect and nurture an audience.
00:31:25
Speaker
So where are you going to start is with your pre-stream. So you're going to start at the very beginning by making sure that people know if they don't know, they don't show. Right. So let people know through your email list. Let people know through your social media posts.
00:31:40
Speaker
Tell people with your mouth when you attend events that, hey, this is when I go live. I go live on Thursday nights. We recently changed our time, by the way, to an hour later because I want to see if that accommodates some folks.
00:31:53
Speaker
And because of our challenges, which are going to end on Thursdays right before these lives. So the pre-stream has to do with you notifying people and making sure that people are hyped and they're geeked and they're ready to come to the stream.
00:32:08
Speaker
Second part is during the stream. So during the stream, you're engaging with folks in the chat and you're having conversation and you're asking questions. Maybe you're doing a little trivia.
00:32:19
Speaker
The thing that I thought was going to work, which did not work for me, is something called Stream Alive. Stream Alive is a platform that allows you to um use engaging chat.
00:32:30
Speaker
Right. So as people are commenting in the chat and you can do it, for instance, on Zoom, as well as a number of other platforms. When you ask a question or share a prompt or a poll, as people are putting their information into the chat, it pops up on screen.
00:32:45
Speaker
So things like that, maybe a digital card deck. where you draw a card and India Delgado does this with her interview guests. So anything that's going to help people to stay awake and stay interested in what you're talking about, the transitions that you see me use also are helpful for that.
00:33:05
Speaker
And then finally, it's post stream. So after the stream, you're following up, you're responding to the different comments and the questions that are in your feed, even after the live is done, you've already pressed end, but you're coming back after the stream, even a few days later to double check and make sure you're responding.
00:33:25
Speaker
And if you have a system in place, that's super helpful to ins ensure that you are making sure that you respond to folks, right? So those are my tips for this evening. This is how this is the secret to being a super connector when it comes to your live audience. All right, everyone.
00:33:44
Speaker
Have a good evening. Good morning or wherever you are in the time zone you're in. I saw that, John, because I know you're in Australia. Then just know that I'm thinking of you and sending you nothing but positive thoughts.
00:33:57
Speaker
All right. See you next week in the stream.
