Torben Rothgeb: Welcome to the Tiny Car Podcast. This is your host, Torben Roskev, and my co -host, Bob Madren, coming to you live from the Lake Street Studios in beautiful Minneapolis, the coolest city in the world.

Torben Rothgeb: All right. Well, hello, Tiny Car listeners. The leaves are falling, but the Tiny Car Podcast is standing tall. And we have one heck of an episode for you guys. All kinds of content. I have my sidekick, Bob Maidrich, with me.

Torben Rothgeb: and our ah Wonderful, wonderful special guests. ah We've actually hired him on, so he's now salaried on the Tiny Talk Podcast. Is that my picture? Making almost as much as Bob. Jim Campman. So welcome, guys. we Welcome. how's ah How's it been? ah How's life treating you guys?

Torben Rothgeb: Good. not Good. Yeah. yeah Good as can be expected. yeah Awesome. Awesome. Yes, well... Beautiful weather up here in Minnesota. Gorgeous today. can say couldn't be Couldn't be better. Couldn't be better. yeah Absolutely. We live here, right?

Torben Rothgeb: yeah That's it. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah, you know, we had the ah we had this essay, and I picked this question when kids write about their favorite season. And... Damn, 90 % of them picked winter for their favorite season. Really? Go figure on that one. Were they Eskimos? I guess. The kids like the snow. I guess they don't have to drive to it. Well, that yeah, that makes sense, though. Yeah. I mean, kids are kids. I liked snow when I was a kid. Yeah, for sure. yeah

Torben Rothgeb: Snow forts and snowball fights. Sure. And you got Christmas and stuff like that. so Exactly. Oh yeah. I was trying to know if that's for another podcast. That is. That is. we will yeah We will probably have at least two or three ones before.

Torben Rothgeb: cru me so hopefully all our listeners are going to be nice and get lots of model kits absolutely we have all kinds of stuff to talk about i mean i don't know how we're gonna get to all of it. oh but We have to our best to talk about Nordicon. We had our own club swap meet. And then we got all kinds of other stuff. with the Jim's going to tell us about the history of the U .S. Nationals because that took place while we were gone. um I know.

Torben Rothgeb: on the nascar side things we had some fantastic racing and some fighting that people have been talking about uh and uh yes hosts of our and and the chase has gotten really good uh all of a sudden uh the chevy's came to life And after Toyota's just dominating all summer long.

Torben Rothgeb: Kyle Larson's got like a 40 or 50 point lead. So he came out of nowhere. All right. um And so then we have a few new releases, but, you know, we hit the nationals and we were able to see all the stuff, at least from round two and other stuff. So I think we covered most of the new releases we talked about last time yeah are still coming out, but we might have a few surprises. um Our question of the month, we're going to take a look at model car etiquette. You know, are there some things?

Torben Rothgeb: ah You know, whether it's pet peeves or other things that, you know. ah might might make model car people a little shunned. or A little upset. Okay, that's what you mean. We'll talk about model the car etiquette. or Well, if you have other ideas, Bob, on model car etiquette. I'm just wondering how you hire what way you were going to go with that. That's all.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, I think it could be taken a lot of different ways. i think But I think there is actually some mild care etiquette. That can be followed. i mean you know. i'll follow in your you know Well, you know, it's a group discussion. Wherever you may go. Yes.

Torben Rothgeb: We'll talk about what's on the bench. We got our club contest. So we're going to talk about the guys and how they're coming along with our club contest. Maybe even throw out some possible club themes for the upcoming 2027 year. That's true. And then I have a controversial new new model tool that I want to talk about. Really? And just a little clue. this is You probably can't go a day without hearing this.

Torben Rothgeb: um but it can be used as a a model tool and i have proof here So I'm going to keep you guys in suspense. Okay. Keep us in suspense. And then being as that it is the Halloween month, we have the scariest things, both a model car related or. Just not. Maybe if you have a phobia we don't know about or just things that...

Torben Rothgeb: you know We don't want to cut a vein here. you know we Well, you never know. We're here for each other. okay You're starting to shake. I think we've... You found something you guys for you. Yes. All right, well... Back up to the top of the board. Why don't we talk about Nordicom?

Torben Rothgeb: okay You did another great job of emceeing it. for Thank you. thank you It was a great show. We had over 500 models. We had 126 entrants. a lot of um Spectators and Scott Gladstein does a great job of compiling all of the numbers. Eric does a good job of compiling all of the finances, and I think we did well. um Our own Mr. Rothgab led a lovely...

Torben Rothgeb: Roundtable discussion. um uh basics of building right Yeah, it was really fascinating because um We had Scott Premo. Who, um...

Torben Rothgeb: Has gotten just ah a ton of different awards for a lot of his figures and armor and stuff. And does airplanes. And then we had Curtis Knight talking about airplanes.

Torben Rothgeb: And then we had Eric. come Eric Z was there talking about... um uh now he wasn't he was doing sci -fi sci -fi stuff which is his one of his really strong that's one of his uh yeah his bread and or butter yeah And then Howard. um However, they're talking about cars. And so, ah yeah, we got into a real... ah

Torben Rothgeb: Real nice, ah interesting discussion. And I learned about Shep. Amen. Yeah, the yeah you know really godfather of now he weathering. and He did a lot of weathering. uh -huh Great armor builder before armor building exploded.

Torben Rothgeb: In the last 15 years. And also dioramas. Dioramas, yeah. Because his dioramas were. were really great. um basically you'd have this tank that would be crashing through a wall or something you know and in you know

Torben Rothgeb: And this was before germany or so everything was all scratch built. Yeah. There wasn't, there weren't kids. There wasn't AK weathering stuff. there was He did everything. He was, he was a true artist. No Molotov pan. God knows we can't live without that. You know, and he just was, yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: He was the Godfather. And they started that MMSI show in Chicago. He started that 20 odd years ago. And it carries on his name. you know Yeah, well, and he was ah a big influence, obviously, on Scott Primo because he was talking a lot about, you know, just ah the mixing the colors and, you know, just so where you have the light coming from.

Torben Rothgeb: and a lot of things like that. um so And that's that's one of those skills that you see that just really... It's fascinating when you see a really good figure you're painted. Yeah, I think what I really appreciate is the fact that he's from here and he's active. and you know, the hobby. And so we get to see it all the time. Right. We actually have quite a few people like that, but I mean him in particular.

Torben Rothgeb: going to the nationals and he you know cleans up cleans up Pretty much almost every time. so He's very humble. He's very quiet and shy. Quiet guy. But he got going and he was talking a lot. ah It's really good. Good, good, good, to good. Almost makes me wish we would have recorded it because it's it's really, it was too much for me to take in, you know.

Torben Rothgeb: ah My takeaway is where it's like he he talked about using the color wheel a lot. Talked about. Never do white. for the eyes you know start off with a color that is you know and and unfortunately people do extremes like white and black and never never do those uh you know kind of things You can always learn new things yeah in the hobby.

Torben Rothgeb: You always learn new stuff. Well, and we got into a fascinating conversation um that went across genres. Took place with curtis knight started and he's talking about another builder. That's worn an awful lot of stuff And, you know, he made the comment like.

Torben Rothgeb: um This guy wins a lot more than than me. but I think he overdoes things. And so it got into this debate. you know about realism and accuracy ah against artistic effect. Absolutely. and um yeah He was talking about airplanes. But, you know, Scott Primo ah got to talking you about whether figure painting and stuff like that. um you know, and then of course.

Torben Rothgeb: We're always talking about with cars, you know, just, you know. How shiny does it go before it's unrealistic before it's unrealistic? and then even scaling down stuff yeah it would be and when you weather something how much do you weather something as opposed to Just making it completely dirty. How much is too much? You know, I mean, Mark Hage and I went to a show many years ago.

Torben Rothgeb: Guy had some rally cars on the table and they were completely full of dirt. So that's just an excuse because you did a bad paint job. Covers it up. Covers it up. So, I mean, where do you would you draw the line? And we all know we've got builders in town here.

Torben Rothgeb: where the weathering is just like you know you look at it and you go That's just a bit over the top. yeah But I mean, you know, and it's just, you know, and, and it. Subtlety is always, I mean...

Torben Rothgeb: it's It's difficult to achieve. It's difficult to do. Yeah, it's not easy. Because you always want to just, oh, maybe it'll just... Maybe just a bit more. No. know No, it's it's true. I agree. Yeah, but then for By the same token.

Torben Rothgeb: You can do the factory fresh version. You can do the factory fresh version. You know, which can be taken as a cop -out maybe a little bit. A little bit. Because you didn't, you know, weather it or whatever. But, I mean, it's.

Torben Rothgeb: It's the... builder's choice it's a builder's choice it's your own artistic statement it's like the late great don stoffer used to always argue with me about you know Model is realistic representation.

Torben Rothgeb: model as art. And that's how he looked at it. And I liked how he did that. Yeah, that's great. Because he would say, you know what, I'm building this as. more realistically. you Or I'm building it as an art piece. you know You can build a car like that. You can build it like it sits in the Ford Museum and it's all...

Torben Rothgeb: shiny and nice. I'm sure it never looked that nice when I got to the racetrack. But he also practiced the craft. He did. He did he you know he put the money where his mouth was. I respected him a lot for that. he did He was not afraid to try different things. Nothing. right And the scratch building thing was a big. part of his life absolutely and um yeah he's he's he's still missed today he is so you know so that that was an interesting discussion then yeah that's cool yeah and then when you go to sci -fi

Torben Rothgeb: you know that's the funny one because you go but eric it's all art yeah it's all art because it's like But yet, they model things like the movies. Because those, what's it called? Millennium Falcons, TIE fighters, X -Wing fighters. Yeah, X -Wing, right? Those things are all just like beat up. You see them sitting in the hangars. And then you see guys build it like that. you know.

Torben Rothgeb: So anyway. That's what makes it fun. Right. yeah Well, hopefully we'll do more of these. And you're a great host, of course. Thank you. Yeah, no, it was a lot of fun. Wonderful. um Because, you know, when you're emceeing, you just sit back and let let the other people talk. and then the you know people came up with really good questions as well so cool No, it was really good.

Torben Rothgeb: Hopefully we'll get more people. All right, history of U .S. Nationals. Jim, ah how many of these have you ah attended? Uh...

Torben Rothgeb: A lot. I'll just say that probably in the neighborhood of. 25 -ish. Wow. um over time it's over a long period of time you know it's it's the whatever you want to call it.

Torben Rothgeb: the the biggest The biggest drag race of the year. It's it's the Super Bowl. of of drag racing. If you haven't won this race. That's something that you strive to achieve because it's very difficult to.

Torben Rothgeb: um to win the race. There's just a lot of typically the race is. um Takes place over like five days. And there's probably...

Torben Rothgeb: close to maybe 1800. race cars. Wow. And they have class eliminations, which... which um drivers compete with the same car, you know maybe the same model and things like that.

Torben Rothgeb: different. um ets and um classifications but um it's it's a lot of fun it's you know it's kind of the The sea and be seen.

Torben Rothgeb: um for people to be there and you know celebrities have you know attended and things like that so yeah it's it's a lot of fun but it's You know. It takes place in Indianapolis. Is it near the track? isn' it What's that? Is it near the... the ah Yeah, it's... Well, no, it's not exactly by the track. It's at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Yeah, it's right next to india Indianapolis Raceway Park, which is ah you know which is a... um smaller track it's a short track but it's like for sprint cars and that kind of thing

Torben Rothgeb: button But it's been there for a long time. I think it's. 1955, it was in Great Bend, Kansas. That was the first one. And it moved to Detroit.

Torben Rothgeb: in like i think it was 1959 or 60. And then it eventually moved to Indianapolis. Raceway Park, which is the same place. but Okay. It's been there ever since.

Torben Rothgeb: um But yeah, no, it's it's a... it's a it's a Mecca, you know, it's something that, cool you know. If people had never been there before, they would really enjoy it because it's... Everything from soup to nuts. and Just a lot of a lot of excitement and you know, it's just like any other yeah Like Daytona or something like that. It's hard to really...

Torben Rothgeb: Um, talk about it in the context of how great it is. cause it Just got to be there, it sounds like. Yeah, I was lucky enough to see Don Garlis win.

Torben Rothgeb: in 1984. his comeback. And he pulled the car out of the museum in 1984. And. put it on the track, and won the race. Oh, wow. And then he won it two more years after that, and I got to see all those races. and You look back now, he's 94 years old. He's still doing really well, but it's like.

Torben Rothgeb: it was ah It was a moment in time that I was really thankful I got to see that. That's cool. Any of your idols or people that you really admire. You know, I'm i'm kind of.

Torben Rothgeb: segwaying into a different class but you know like when we talk about uh nascar and you know what's his name just passed away um Gordon Johncock, who I saw win.

Torben Rothgeb: His Indy 500 in 1982 at that time was the closest finish. IndyCar racing history. and um i I really appreciate that because my brother was there with me. I got him a ticket to the to the race. That was the first time I'd ever been to it.

Torben Rothgeb: to that. race and uh It was, it was a great race to be at. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's a, it's exciting. It's um see humanity and all that stuff. It's just, it's great to be in America. I just feel like it's. a There's a lot of really great racing that takes place.

Torben Rothgeb: That would be a great city to live in. Yeah, yeah I contemplated that when I was younger. Moving to Indianapolis? Because there's something going on. every weekend yeah i mean they had a super chevy big car show that i went down when i lived down there and they you know they had pretty much mopar nationals huge

Torben Rothgeb: Everything there was like the biggest one. You know, the Indy 500, obviously the biggest Indy race and then the U .S. National. Now the Brickyard has come down, but it'd actually be nice to live there because the tickets are pretty much given away at this point.

Torben Rothgeb: I mean, the last time we went, we went probably about 2015. You're talking about the day. Yeah. I mean, we were just happened to be going through there and I looked it up and it was just like. two kids got in free with each adult so i think leah and i and four kids went there for like, I think it was about 80 bucks. wow And you could bring your own cooler in there. so so I mean, it was just we just went there because it was ridiculous cheap. So if I lived in Indianapolis, I would definitely.

Torben Rothgeb: you know go there i mean the the racing uh for nascars is just not great right it's one it's one of those setup tracks somebody gets a setup and then they drive away with it Right. kind of Because the passing, you know, the track is a flat track that was built so long ago. Whereas I think the Indy cars, I mean, they do all of their designing just so you can pass on that track. Right. You know, and they even have a different aero package kind of thing. Right. um As we've watched it many years, watching the the passing this year was exciting as a well. Yeah. You almost don't want to be leading. and And I think it's still better to see it. in person yeah i don't care what what it is you know it could be football or whatever but i think

Torben Rothgeb: racing, it just captures the imagination. and I just don't think you can top it. so Well, you know, television has gotten so good that you can see it almost better at home. And because of that, then you don't have the crowds necessarily. that that are Or with phones, they're not as amped up as they used to be.

Torben Rothgeb: um But I still think the Indy 500, I went this last year, and it's still one of those places where it's just... you know just magnetic with just just The the atmosphere is really loud. And being a race, obviously, everybody's on the edge of their seat. at the Absolutely. you You know, it's not like a...

Torben Rothgeb: a 28 to nothing football game or something like that, where, you know, you're not guaranteed a photo finish, but usually with, with the Indy 500 you are. So going back to the U S nationals, how many classes do they have?

Torben Rothgeb: Um. in there i mean i'm Pretty sure they don't just have the Joe Schmo match race in there. No, no, no, no. It's just like top fuel funny cars. No, it is top fuel funny car, pro stock, pro modified.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, Modified competition. alcohol, funny car, alcohol, dragster. I mean, there's... There's probably, I don't know. 40.

Torben Rothgeb: ish classes wow now did they run through sportsman classes classes which are you know the um The hobby, the weekend racer, you know, brings this. Camaro to race in super stock.

Torben Rothgeb: Those days of the, you know, you you you bring a trailer and it's flat -toed behind the car. and and Those days are gone. But I mean, cause a lot of them have, you know, you know giant tow rigs and things like that. but Yeah. But it's...

Torben Rothgeb: You know, you're talking about the cost or whatever. I think it's pretty cheap to go to the to that race, too, because. Um, You could go any number of days. We end up sitting up on the top. Top end, I call it. where where the cars come through to the finish line. Uh -huh.

Torben Rothgeb: And. it's it's the best seat in the house you know because they're going full blast Unfortunately, i've I've witnessed some, you know. some accidents, some, you know. Pretty bad accidents. Well, no, they were they were terminal. but Okay.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. in 1996 when Blaine Johnson got killed i was you know i was at that race and saw that happen and um And then elber Elmer Trent, who runs atop the old motorcycle, he ah he passed away the next day. So I went wow i went home after that. I was too distraught.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. it really It was an emotional. ah Yeah, that would be hard. but um But, you know, it's part it's part of the...

Torben Rothgeb: It's part of the history of it. It's why you you take that chance. You're running on the edge and all that stuff. yeah just It comes with the territory. so yeah Cool. Yeah. now Do they do all the funny cars to the end, or do they just kind of go spiral back and forth between first round to top fuel, first round? No, they they run they run them in order. They'll start out with top fuel, and then they'll do this is like first round will be.

Torben Rothgeb: for eliminations would be top fuel. They'd run 16 cars. And they run Funny Car. They run 16 cars for that. And they were on pro stock. They run basically all the way down the line. and then Start over again. okay Okay. So you're, you're watching all the classes basically. run Right. And then, uh, yeah, so there's, there's some, there's not really a lot of downtime. Mm hmm. Um,

Torben Rothgeb: But then then they pick, you know, they pick special awards and, you know, best appearing car, best appearing crew. um you know, all kinds of things like that. It's, it's. It's it's a you know, see, you know, it's it's an interesting.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, thing to attend so Cool. Now, if you know Richard Petty won seven Daytona 500s and... A .J. Foyt and Rick Mears and Helio Casaneves won four Indy 500s. Who was the the guy and that's won the most U .S. Nationals?

Torben Rothgeb: ah Well, I think... I think john John's got that one pretty much going. I think for John Forrest has the record for number of. of U .S. national wins. I'd have to look it up. I don't have the article Oracle in front of me. He wouldn't be able to help me. but um John's won quite a few times.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, i and Don Garlitz has won a few times. Shirley won. I think. two or three times. Um, Yeah, it's... it's I don't know it's It's, you know, it's it's over time. It could be a lot of different drivers, different times in their career and things like that.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, okay. All right. Now. so Something you should maybe take in sometime. Yeah, yeah. No, ah definitely. We could take you there. so Yeah, that'd be fun. That'd be fun.

Torben Rothgeb: um Did you talk about the club swap meet yet? We did not get back to the club swap meet. Just wondering. I was going to go down to new releases. Because I know we both got from the dungeon. We got the Pure Hell Funny Car.

Torben Rothgeb: right Almost the same time. Almost the same time. Well, I took a picture of it, and then Jim was over there enlightening, almost as fast as when you ran over to get that.

Torben Rothgeb: modified uh Camaro that I said was like $40. You'll never let that go. I know that because I was running, you know, through the parking lot. and you know this is that I got the dick trickle Mustang. It wasn't there, though.

Torben Rothgeb: It was trunk sale. It was in the trunk sale. But it wasn't. What did you say it was? $20? Yeah, so i said I show up with a Dick Trickle Mustang modified. And I said, he's got a Camaro over there too. And what would you pay for that? And I said, $20. So went over there and of course it was. A lot more than that. I think it was 100. Yeah, I think it was like 100. Okay. Yep.

Torben Rothgeb: But still, those those go for a lot. It's probably still worth that. Still a good deal. Yeah. yeah Yeah. So, yeah. um So we I've been working. I did the usual stuff for the funny cars. So I got.

Torben Rothgeb: I got the front and the back glued on, you know, my new favorite. yeah okay yeah i like to work on like five things at once so Yeah, I got the the front and the back glued on with my my favorite sprue glue on there. And then I ah glued the cage. Evidently, the 116th ones, the cages are still two parts.

Torben Rothgeb: So I glued that together. Okay. And then I glued all the other things like the engine block and the rear axle that go in two pieces. the fire extinguisher. Wasn't it nice because the parts are big and you you can see them in there? Yeah. Because, I mean, they're you know like twice as big as a...

Torben Rothgeb: 1 25th scale model so yeah Yeah. And it is funny if you've built the 125th ones, they're exactly like that. they're just they just shrunk it down fight fit but they have a lot more detail on the 116th though you have the posable wheels you know, and things like that. so yeah The tires are more realistic. And Howard did two of those. Yeah, he did. He did a really nice job on them, too. He did a beautiful job on them, yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: you know he's a good builder so yep that that uh i brought that was one of those i brought home and i you know i've had i bought so many of these 116 funny cars this one is i need to Get done within a year.

Torben Rothgeb: you know But that gets me to our controversial ah modeling tool. Oh, okay okay. That is controversial for a lot of people, and you hear a lot of it. Are you guys ready? I'm ready. I'm very anticipating the… You know, it's like the catch -up anticipation. Right. Uh -huh. Yep, yep.

Torben Rothgeb: Well, here is what I – it's AI. i had I typed in to, and we have Gemini or Copilot. So I'm, ah you know, again, you know, working hard at work, you know. I can tell, yeah. yeah Maybe it's the end of the day. I've just gotten this.

Torben Rothgeb: a pure hell funny car. And so I figured. you know, I think our ah our district page for like gemini or something so i clicked in there and i uh pure hell funny car you know and then i and i even printed it wrong i put um What was I thinking?

Torben Rothgeb: And not Aurora. And then it's like, did you mean the Atlantis and this and that? And so. Here I'll go ahead and read you what the AI gave me. for building uh this one right if you don't have to read it all right but Well, you know, it has. If you are moving up to 116th Funny Car, the exercise offers more opportunity for detailing and wiring.

Torben Rothgeb: Recently reissued by Atlantis, the rich, uh, Gasco.

Torben Rothgeb: Guasco. Guasco. Guasco. That's fun to say. yeah um But anyway, then that the frame frame and chassis assembly, supercharged Hemi engine. um assemble the block transmission cylinder heads paint the block iron aluminum or engine gloss black plumbing, wiring, um large -scale body prep and paint. This is all from AI, right? Just typing into the AI thing. Oh, my goodness. Interior roll cage assembly, driver's tin work, fire extinguisher.

Torben Rothgeb: um Anyway, and then tires. Stuff like that. Sand the tread. large carbs three you know For a beginner, mount the engine wheels. ah Well, you know, it's one of those, like many things in our country, you mentioned ah one and on one side of the aisle, there's the worst thing in the world. Right. Another side of the world is like it's. Groundbreak and Revolution. um Now, interestingly enough,

Torben Rothgeb: I had did a color. So I wanted to ask the color for the Pure ah Hell, and this is what Jim and I said. Metallic purple, Tamiya TS -37 Lavender. or TS24 Metallic Purple, or teor' Tester's Custom Lacquer Metallic Purple. Spray a silver or gold metallic base beneath a clear candy purple for extra depth and depth of sparkle under scale light.

Torben Rothgeb: If Building 116 Atlantis reissued, the body comes molded in purple plastic. Polishing the bare plastic or laying down a clear coat is an option, but applying a fresh coat of metallic purple paint provides a richer, contest -grade finish.

Torben Rothgeb: So how much of this stuff did you put into the AI? Nothing. that I put in pure hell. or that yeah one talk And this is what it spit out. What color for the pure hell?

Torben Rothgeb: a thing I'm done.

Torben Rothgeb: I can't go any further. No. yeah I won't even try. I won't even try. The paint steps for best decal. Apply two thin coats of fine light gray white primer, smooth mold lines. Oh, my God. Spray two to three light passes of metallic purple, letting each pass flash off for a few minutes. Apply a glossy clear coat before putting down decals. Lay down the red, yellow, and white Pure Hell livery decals using decal setting solution. Then seal everything with a final protective high gloss.

Torben Rothgeb: clear coat so and wow so how long did it take for this to pop this all a second seconds. Really? yeah So kind of right there you have it. It's a modeling tool that we don't talk much about. I know they have co Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT.

Torben Rothgeb: um well And then I would also think if you wanted to just do... history of a history some right background or something like that sure um Yeah. that Wow.

Torben Rothgeb: That's scary. it's a little scary but it's It is part and parcel of now. It's a tool. You might as well use it. you You can't get away from it. It's coming and it's not going to stop.

Torben Rothgeb: And greed is... Right there with it. Of course. You know. With everything. Yeah. you know Exactly. Well, that was really great. Yeah. yeah Well, thank you. Where should we talk about the swap? You know. Yes. Well, I think Bob wants to talk. oh i'm just wondering yeah we won we had yes It was a good swap meet. It was a really good swap meet. Yes, absolutely.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, And you could probably hear the crinkling of early trick -or -treating by us. So I apologize if it's somewhat distracting. We're having raisins and peanuts. Just pure sugar and food, guys, are what we're consuming here.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, But, yes, ah the club swap meet. And, you know, as always, it's why it's so hard. I think that's why I found my ah goal of going the year without buying a model. yeah I mean, you're talking about the. oh that was was it That was the revelation.

Torben Rothgeb: Yes. I have a revelation. i You stood right in front of us here. That was a proclamation. That was a proclamation. yeah Yes. um Well, it is such... Where are we now? Can we go down the road and say, well, how many kits now have you purchased? that Well, I did sell a few cars at the swap meet.

Torben Rothgeb: Don't gloss over that. What you bought. Let's see. Here's one. yeah Here's one. Here's one. Don't forget the big man.

Torben Rothgeb: The big van. Yeah, the 120th scale van. Good Lord, man. Ironsides, man. Good Lord. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, it is.

Torben Rothgeb: such a A buyer's market, that is. Hey, you know, I was thinking, too. Scott. made it a little better for sellers. Because, of course, he would dive in.

Torben Rothgeb: and buy stuff. Bladstein? No, little har you Harbu. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, he totally... Kind of changed the dynamics. He changed the dynamics and the auction. Right. Because, like, they were no longer just giving stuff away. Because he would at least yeah get it up to about, which was a little better for people trying to sell. Yep. you know But it wasn't the buyer's market that it is now. No, not at all. But, uh...

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, so no, what as you guys alluded to. um I think. um Tom ah Tom and his son. Thorin. Thorne. Tom Thorne and his son.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. ah What's his son's name? Tony. Tony. Great guy. Both of them are really good. Yeah, they're very nice nice guys. um And ah he, I guess somebody from come to find when we were doing the question of the month, the best deal you ever got. He had said that those were given to him. So so he turned around and then had pretty good prices on. And so the 71 Cyclone.

Torben Rothgeb: Um... It's a really cool car because I didn't realize. Yes. Well, I think what a lot of people thought was it's just your standard. Uh, mpc stock car reissue but this is one of the first ones that came where you can build a stock Yeah. And it's a pretty rare car. And it's one of those kind of cult following, kind of like AMC car. The people who really liked that Mercury. ah Did they really run that car like that?

Torben Rothgeb: Did Leroy Yarbrough drove that one like that? No, I think there were some cars that were. I think they were done at that point. I think they were done like that, though. Yeah, 70 was the last year they ran those, right? Yeah. ah seventy one there might have been some There might have been some independence well and stuff. Yeah, and if you can think about the Mercurys that both Pearson and A .J. Foy ran, they're pretty similar. They're pretty similar. If you look at the nose of the car.

Torben Rothgeb: And that was a confusing thing because they had the NASCAR one that's almost like, looks just like it. What did you pay for that then? Boy, I think it was... 40? And that's a steal, basically, right? Yeah, it goes for hundreds. You could probably mind lower i get about three, four, and I would say.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. oh my gosh that is because again you can build a stock you can build it yeah yes that's the thing and yeah okay And plus the kid is mint. Yeah. It's absolutely like brand new.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah well and you know puts and dan warford was there selling a bunch of uh the late mike loman stuff you know And it it was reasonable. reasonable prices and then our buddy Jim Mulligan was selling stuff um He had some pretty good prices. and What was Muggsy selling?

Torben Rothgeb: I ended up buying one. No. I bought a 55 Ford. It's a drag car. 55 Ford. 56 Ford. 56 Ford, the AMT one? No, it was the...

Torben Rothgeb: Didn't you build a stock car? I did the stock car of that, but this is a drag car. It's a really wild looking body. It's got this big. Finn's got the big spoiler on the back. It's got the... um

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, you're talking about the Revell reissue that were all those pro mods. It's a pro mod. Oh, yeah, that's right. He gave me a good price on that. I just took it out and put it out. Soft seal 5770. Yeah, it's a 56 Ford. And that was probably a good deal, too, because I've seen that go for a while. And you bought that from Mugsy? 15 bucks. Have you aired it out now so that you can actually build it? So I took it outside to kind of.

Torben Rothgeb: Let it breathe, so to speak. you know Like a fine wine, you know, because I didn't breathe. Let's not be religious. Come on. So anyway. um And I did, I mean, I brought five kids.

Torben Rothgeb: And I ended up coming home with four. So it's like, you know. Yep. Not like our friend Cameron. oh yeah That was the funniest, because our friend Bob Ferrara. yeah Oh, yeah. He brought those um Model Factory Hero ones. and Cameron was he was right there. Oh, he bought those? He bought one of them. oh how many but you tell You paid $120 for one, and that's still that's that's let's half what you pay for. That's a good deal. It is a good deal.

Torben Rothgeb: I'm sure he went home and started building it. Excuse me. He's showing me pictures of it. It's practically done. it was the uh jackie x car from 1969. so it was a ferrari 312b that's cool nice car Lovely kid. We get to see at our our dinner in September Some.

Torben Rothgeb: Okay. Nice. What did you make this time? Vegetarian. I made rice ive made rice burgers and tomato basil soup. Oh, my God. You're making me hungry just thinking about rice burgers. What I wouldn't give for a good rice burger.

Torben Rothgeb: Listen to you guys. He does have a point. none None at all. Anyways. what do what do you mix that race with are we gonna talk about this or what come on You made Torben hungry now. You want me to give you another great recipe?

Torben Rothgeb: all right

Torben Rothgeb: I'll make rice burgers sometime. Oh, no, please don't. You're prejudging here, and Mr. Campman. No, I'm sure they're delicious they would take in certain countries. Wow!

Torben Rothgeb: Anyway, let's move on. but That's good, though. It was a great swap meet. I thought it was lots of fun stuff to buy. It was one of the better ones. Well, I bought a din Dino Don.

Torben Rothgeb: ah Nicholson Pinto. Pro Stock. Where'd you get that from? ah Same guy. Same guy. Oh wow. Same guy, same price. That's a steal. No, I had to go a little higher. I was like 50. I'll be a little quiet. I'll leave or something.

Torben Rothgeb: Now on. What I did was I think I did. Um, This, the Dino Don. prozac a pack And the Ironside. Bam! the 120 scale there for a hundred yeah Yeah, let me see. That's still a good deal. They each could go for 100. Oh, no, they'd go for a lot more than that. This has got to be expensive kit, I'm assuming. Yeah, yep those ah any of those MPC.

Torben Rothgeb: Um. Go for a lot. And it looks really cool and pretty simple to. build it It goes together pretty quick. And I did the standard thing of. ah you know gluing some parts together we've already started that too mm -hmm

Torben Rothgeb: This is one of the five or six that you have going. Yes. It's iron side vans. No, i I looked at that and I was just like, you those big kips. It's one thing when it's a Formula One car. Right. But when you, man, that thing looks like a monster. Oh, it's big. It's just like. yeah um but I was thinking because the Milwaukee show.

Torben Rothgeb: um So I glued the roll cage together. and you know some other stuff. Is it a nice kit, Jim? That's all right. Yeah. it' pretty It's pretty good. I mean, it needs some help, but you know. Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: I don't know. What's that? Well, no. I mean, if I don't know if you've ever you ever remember Eric's belt. pinto all right not a pinto as a mustang too but it's a similar similar genre Okay. And and he built that.

Torben Rothgeb: almost out of the box i mean obviously he adds a lot of detail and things like that but it It pretty much falls together. You just have to do some adjusting to get it to sit right. it's just You know. It was just really a fun, it was a really fun.

Torben Rothgeb: You brought a lot of nice stuff. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. And you finally got rid of that Tyrell six -wheeler. Who bought that? Well, iyak yeah. um Harold.

Torben Rothgeb: herold Harold bought that. Harold bought it. yeah but yeah no i sold that ferrari you know the one that the daytona daytona right We don't want to talk about that now. so yes well but anyway um so yeah okay harold or howard bought that one Right.

Torben Rothgeb: and But no, it was it was a great it was a great show. It's kind of a rainy day, so it was a good day to have a swap. Good day to be inside and do the swap. yeah And you went to that pizza place, and that was good. Very tasty pizza. Yeah, really good. Thank you, Andy, for that. Yes, thank you. yeah yeah It was really good pizza. well And it's funny, I had an interesting and encounter with Andy.

Torben Rothgeb: because Yes, he did. I was selling the... um It was a Studebaker and a 10. It was 53. 53, yeah. And. And he's really pumped up because...

Torben Rothgeb: It's a three in one and he wants to build all three options of it. And so. Um, Okay. yeah And so then I had 15 on and he asked, will you take 10?

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, okay. And then I'm boxing up all my stuff M. There that Studebaker is still there You know, because he can't. I had Mike. cars at the back but then i was up the front uh you know doing the meeting And then talking to people.

Torben Rothgeb: So he came up and he he gave me $10. um But then I go pack up stuff in the Studebaker kits there. Fuck, Andy must have forgot it, you know? so He calls me the next day. Hey, I forgot to get that Studebaker. Are you going to be around today? but Yeah, sure. now Come over whenever.

Torben Rothgeb: and so He shows up and then he gives me another five for it. I don't know if he felt bad overnight or something that he had talked me down from 15 to 10 or. What? what wow He gave me another five? law Okay, sure. turn Fair enough. I won't turn it down. Hopefully he's not.

Torben Rothgeb: listening so i hope he is we need as um many of listeners as possible i know i know i know i know

Torben Rothgeb: All right. But so that was ah now. i'm Talking about reselling stuff, that that is going to get us to our question of the month. That's very much appropriate for what what I want to talk about. so i Brought to you by Randy's 3D printing. Thank you, Randy, for all your business. so Bob's last model was a great Ferrari that Randy printed. Fantastic job with that model. Thank you.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. So model car etiquette. That would be one of them. So like. What would be one of them? I got this great 71 Cyclone. a great deal for it.

Torben Rothgeb: know Would it be tacky to turn around and turn around and sell it? You know, you go to a club contest and I think Most people. you know put it back out there to club members because...

Torben Rothgeb: they would like to see it built. So you might get a better deal than you'd normally get. So do you think it is? ah tacky to turn around and Put it on eBay. Yes.

Torben Rothgeb: not something you do. ah Well, I mean, it depends because you're talking about something that you. you weren't going to see them put it on eBay, right? No. You know what I mean? I mean, that's why. this I thought this is where you were going. This is this is a model car etiquette that reminds me of.

Torben Rothgeb: one individual I won't say who it is. He's no longer selling stuff. But he used to go to show quite a few shows. he got to he was He was from...

Torben Rothgeb: the milwaukee area And... um he would do this all the time he would He would go to the show. He would go to the swap meet. A lot of times he had it already had a table or multiple tables.

Torben Rothgeb: and he would go buy stuff He would lowball guys. He did to me plenty of times because I knew him. you know Would you cut me a break in this? Sure, yeah, whatever.

Torben Rothgeb: And then. Five minutes later, I'm walking around the room, and all of a sudden I get to his table. It's like... That looks like the model I sold them. It is the model I sold him. Son of a...

Torben Rothgeb: And he did this all the time. And he marked it up, right? Of course! yeah I mean he knew what the stuff was worth. you know and And I understand all that, but it's it's just a super tacky thing to do. And it's like.

Torben Rothgeb: And you know he didn't care if anybody saw what was going on. Another thing that he did, too, that you know you have to know this. because you know i i know him from years and years of the hobby.

Torben Rothgeb: but was that He would. He learned a lot about. kit releases and what was available and things like that. So he would take like, for example,

Torben Rothgeb: I'll just throw this out there. so you got the the 33 Willys. Okay. You find all the original parts from the original kit. and you find an original box.

Torben Rothgeb: And part is all things. together. and you sell it on eBay as an original kit. Like it came like that. Oh, wow. And it didn't. No. It's something that you would have to spend a lot of time on to do it. And hey, you know.

Torben Rothgeb: Everybody's... you know. trying to be an entrepreneur and make money. But it's just... I don't know And it's... what What I don't like about that is that the model really isn't an original kit.

Torben Rothgeb: I mean you might have a couple of parts that weren't the same color plastic they're supposed to be. things like that. But he was getting just stupid money for... eBay stuff because he sold it as This is original, one and of one of a kind, blah, blah, blah. he'd He'd do this kind of, this is like before AI, but.

Torben Rothgeb: you know, he would have this. you know description of models are a great collector's item and You know, they almost always make money over time, you know. and ia It's a good investment. Better than gold or natural metals. Oh, for sure.

Torben Rothgeb: But anyway, so no, I mean, I don't want to take too much time about it because I know that he probably have other etiquette things. No, but I do. have But but that was that was one, you know, where he was selling stuff like the next day or even the same day.

Torben Rothgeb: And I mean, I was at a show in in Southern California and he was there. and It's like, oh. It's just. That's tacky. And it never ended, too. That's tacky, yeah. What have you got?

Torben Rothgeb: Well, for etiquette. Yeah, well, and just look in the cyclone. I really ah bought this thinking about but building it and not building the stock car, up but building it it as a stock. vehicle, you know? And I thought like,

Torben Rothgeb: Not just because it was a great deal, because I wanted to build it. you know And if I didn't think I would build it, I would leave it for somebody else to build it. you know i think that's the intent with the club swap made it's like the dream has died for you but you would like to see somebody else build it. Right. So.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, ah Probably another one. Well, speaking of eBay, I cannot stand. And one of the things I kind of peruse if I have a couple minutes here and there is just the eBay. ebay you know model cars And so somebody will part out.

Torben Rothgeb: part out a whole kit and take up a whole page or two with just the dashboard from the kit and a seat. you well You don't spend much time on email. No, I don't.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, somebody will part out a whole kit. Rather, i'll say say you have ah a $300. Let's say this Cyclone would go for $300. So you do the window glass for a 71 Cyclone. Or you do the body for $40 starting bid. And the box for $10. Really? It sucks you in because then you're going to like.

Torben Rothgeb: Start. putting this kit together by buying all these parts and paying way more money than a turn signal. The right turn signal is $15.

Torben Rothgeb: Plus shipping. Yeah, so it's like a 70 Barracuda or something. It's like a little junkyard. Oh, yeah, no, and it's and it's some of these guys, they've got... 30 of these different kids that they're trying to do this with.

Torben Rothgeb: wow well and it's because they aren't getting the big money for the kits that they think they should get So I'm going to find another way, yeah you know? yeah So yeah, it's, it's pretty tacky.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, I think the one thing that bothers me is if talk about etiquette this this relates to contests is people bringing the same thing back absolutely all the time which drives me crazy it's like you haven't won enough awards or you You just have to win an award. So I'm going to keep bringing the same thing back. Until I win something. Until I win something. Then just leave the goddamn thing at home. No. You know, I mean, I was talking to one of our good friends, Tom Finch.

Torben Rothgeb: this past week and he says yeah We talked to but a little bit about that, and he says, I make the cycle, he goes. Rochester, the NNL, Nordicon. And then if we go to the nationals, maybe, and then, then it's retired. And so when I see the same things over and over, I just go.

Torben Rothgeb: for god's sakes and there's people who are This happens to be an airplane builder. who brings the same stuff all the time. I can see his sheets that have coffee stains on them. Literally, they're the same sheet. Really?

Torben Rothgeb: I just want to scream, you know? you should yeah i mean and it's and there's a shipbuilder that does the same thing No, and I know a car builder out there. I know a few. If it doesn't win. No, come on. he's gonna well you know And not only win, it wins a first place, I think. One of the first times I ever saw this was was Steve Cody. hair Oh, God. With the funny car. oh Totally nuts.

Torben Rothgeb: And he you know he finished this funny car. It was large scale, wasn't it? it 16 scale? And he and needed did just a phenomenal job. Great job. But then he took it home. And this is like, you you have to know this because you wouldn't.

Torben Rothgeb: Think about it, right? Yeah. But he'd take this thing home and he'd take it apart. And the body and everything was the same. but he changed the engine or whatever but it's the same kit yeah and uh He saw that he did. answered it as if it was a new build. Yep. You know, I didn't say it was, you know, I took the.

Torben Rothgeb: you know, blah, blah, blah, Camaro. and change this on the seat and blah, blah, blah. No, it's it's a... All new build. yeah I think Static discovered that because he went over there after he had passed away. you know Sadly, he was in a car accident yeah and died very suddenly. And then Static went over there and discovered that it had just been like one chassis that he had been putting. He just kept putting things on it. And he had no problem.

Torben Rothgeb: doing that. I called him on it one time. He didn't like me very much and I didn't like him. So, I mean, it was fine. He wasn't. ah He was a very odd man. He was a very odd man. Not ah not a someone you would befriend, really. No, the first time i you know I had my interaction with him was a negative one, and it never got better after that. And so then it was just simply...

Torben Rothgeb: It was like, you know, yeah, I said, that's the same. You just put a different way. What's wrong with that? He said. I'm like, okay, anyway that's etiquette, that that I don't like. Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: Okay. um Well, I know a thing that you guys always talk about is when... ah You, uh... You comment on somebody's car, say they did a nice car, and they never ask you what you built. Oh, of course. that's that's That's a huge etiquette thing.

Torben Rothgeb: right I mean, you you run into that a lot. and I do. in um Milwaukee actually. Oh, absolutely. Right. I think that's kind of, yeah. the norm. I will make a point of going over to someone and saying, that's really nice, blah, blah, blah.

Torben Rothgeb: No, they're gone Okay. All right. You know, and you gotta learn. It's kind of like... um You've never learned your lesson. You're too dumb. I am. You're too dumb. I'm just trying to be nice. I'm trying to be good. We know how you are.

Torben Rothgeb: And we get it. This person doesn't get it. I know. Clearly. I know. And it's it's just disappointing. It's disappointing. Yeah. And you just have to let it roll off your back. and Right. know Right. Well, you know who's really good at that, though, is um the guy who does all the really custom. paint jobs. uh Is it from Milwaukee?

Torben Rothgeb: Mario. Mario. Yeah, he's really good. I remember, like, talking to him because the first time I went to Milwaukee, I was just blown away. And I asked him about it. And, you know, after going through all this, he said, well, show me what you built. Right. so Exactly. Oh, really? He's a great guy. Yeah. Right. yeah And those are the people you like too.

Torben Rothgeb: Amazing. They're nice in the hobby. Well, and there's the... the you know the infamous Ed Daring. Oh my God. It was another one of the legends of Milwaukee that basically.

Torben Rothgeb: gets someone to build a model for him, and then he enters it as his own. As his own. Yes. yeah At the NML. yeah Yeah, we've had some other people paint things for other people. and Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah mean sorry and I do feel like, yeah, if you if you are entering something, that it's... pretty much a hundred percent you but you built it yeah you know even like i remember um You know, Mark Raleigh had built that 120th scale can amp car.

Torben Rothgeb: And, you know, but it had been sitting out, it was dusty and some stuff. So I, you know, decided to clean it up, clear coat it, polish it and put a couple of new details. That's great. and Yeah. And then, but I would never think about displaying, you know, entering that in a contest. You know yeah its yeah you might be the minority in that. Cool.

Torben Rothgeb: Well, no. yeah I mean, I feel bad about that Ferrari 500 that I built, that Formula One car. because I didn't paint it. Yeah. But it was all in pieces. Yeah. And I had to take half of it apart to put it back together. It is a little awkward. It is kind of, yeah, it makes you feel kind of weird. I talk to a couple of shows and I'm not going to take it anywhere else.

Torben Rothgeb: you know, because it it makes me feel awkward. yeah Yeah. So, you know, Yeah. It's the fine line on stuff like that. But, uh... Yeah, from etiquette. How about bases? There's another controversial one, bases. Base or not to. base, put to put stuff on a big base.

Torben Rothgeb: I find those basses horrific. you yes if they're If they're not subtle and if they're spinning around and they're like a foot off the ground. You're talking about the turntable thing. The turntable thing, like the car at the Nationals when I was judging, it was this thing.

Torben Rothgeb: this Kyle Busch car, you know, it was just like. That must have been this year or something. Yeah. yep that's one and And it just was like, come on. You know, it's what they almost always I mean you know if you

Torben Rothgeb: Who was the guy? He used to be an MCCM. He put one on a bass that was horrific. But most of the time, they're good. Who's an MCCM? Uh, yeah, yeah. And it was, well, and he talked about, he found some bass at a garage sale that had all these mirrors on it and it was turning. Did you see who that was? Was it Ted? No, no, it wasn't Ted. I won't say. Okay. Just in this, whatever chance that he'd be listening. You know who it is though, right? Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: We can talk about it later. But, you know, oh you know most of the time it is at least. ah a pretty good kit that they put on a base, but it does, you know, almost always win something or gets attention. Cause you know,

Torben Rothgeb: You go with something that has like 500 cars on the table, it may... it automatically makes it stand out. I mean, you can see why people do it. And somebody might even say. Well, don't hate the player. Hate the game. type that was exactly one with like I think you were at Toledo, I think, the year that this guy was there.

Torben Rothgeb: This is going back to like, you know, what was that, the 90s, whatever it was. there was a guy there that had a ah TV. screen. was actually a video screen, and he had his...

Torben Rothgeb: model. on the video Like. when he was. had been building it. Oh my goodness. Yeah. I'd never seen that before. And at the same weekend, I think the guy, there was another guy that had a turntable that was.

Torben Rothgeb: super large. oh my god Um, but anyways our friend mike classic said always just said to me Is there a speed control on this? Because Mike said, yeah I just want to crank it up really. yeah I always would like to put one, just put Christmas lights wrapped around it and just have it as gaudy as possible. And then even have one of those like. Especially during the Halloween season, you'll see some of them with the...

Torben Rothgeb: Halloween decoration that has a voice activated thing that as soon as you walk past it, vote for me. Vote for me. Vote for me. Vote for me. Right, the Dracula voice. Just to go over the top and poke fun at some of those big bases. is crazy. basic yeah it is crazy

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. Yep. Any other pet peeves? I think we covered quite a few. I didn't even think we were going to cover. Yeah, I know. All right. Well, that takes us up to...

Torben Rothgeb: Unless you know any secret, double secret new releases. I mean... um And actually speaking of this, we're going, ah the Salvino show is running as we speak.

Torben Rothgeb: And I could probably tap into it and and hear exactly what they're going to say. One more week, guys. The Lotuses are going to be out. They're going to be shipping. We're going to have ah Rick was going through all the metal photo etch and finally got it cut, and we got the tires. and One more week, guys. We got back from the China people and the moles for the new Chevys are going to be going out. Look for those. ah that's That's probably what they're saying wow at this very moment right now.

Torben Rothgeb: I am. And I am. You know. I'm going to make that same proclamation oh next year. Another proclamation. I'm going to. ah Yeah, because I'm, ah well, I'm waiting for obviously the Lotus to get here. And then I have the ah car that won this year, although I have to go out. The Rosenquist car? Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: I've ordered that, yeah. But I have to go out and get the... yeah Gosh, what is that country music person's... And then it's Morgan something. yeah matt whatever Yes. Yeah. You're talking about on the car because they wouldn't release the decals for that.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. I hope so. um Which car is this? The car that won. Rosenquist car. had Morgan oh morgan Wallen sponsored and Cirrus Radio. I think the Cirrus as well. um was on the side of the car. And then for whatever and then I think Rosenquist left the team. pretty soon He did. So that. created some issues too. so um

Torben Rothgeb: But that that kit is coming out eventually without those and then in decals. I just have to order those decals from that. Here's the only thing I'll say about that. The Salvinos Lotus. Okay.

Torben Rothgeb: It's October Okay. Yeah. When was that kit supposed to be released? Was it this time first last year they took pre -orders or was it two years ago? i think it was it was It's been almost two years because Cameron, I remember giving him the money and it was like. It hasn't been that long.

Torben Rothgeb: Are you serious? I thought when we... Well, no, because I thought when we went... First quarter. First quarter is when they said it was going to be out. Right, so probably last fall. I think pre -order was a year ago because when we went to Detroit because we went to the museum again. We saw the car. We saw the car. I think it's been a year.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah about a year about pre -ordering You know, what what do you think is the, I mean, you had the resin business. what would you think was a... an um acceptable time for pre -ordering.

Torben Rothgeb: before you would have it out. if it took pre -orders kind we never did that um what i will say is that you know i think round two still has you can pre -order.

Torben Rothgeb: Uh, kids. i think model in fact model roundup has something now where you can pre -order kit yeah and it's priced accordingly because you know they know what the price is going to be retail But...

Torben Rothgeb: They have to stand by their product. There's no... sugarcoating that. You know what I mean? It's... You can't. Keep doing that.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah Over time. I mean, we're talking... You know, look at how long ago you ordered it. You you paid the money. Yeah. it's I know it's free shipping and blah, blah, blah. you're already getting, in my opinion,

Torben Rothgeb: getting screwed because that box is terrible. Yeah. you know I mean, it's just basically a resin box. Right. Have you seen it? It's a standard resin box. Oh, you have to see it. With a part glued on it. They have a cool picture of Clarkson. Yeah, but it's just...

Torben Rothgeb: glue sticked on the resin box. like two versions of it. and those are on the box And that's it. I mean, it says what it is. It's a white box. It's white sides.

Torben Rothgeb: It opens up like ah like you said. Like like a regular resin box. Like a resin box, yeah. Yeah, if you saw, Neil was selling that rollback. ah Truck. kind of yeah It wasn't the truck, but it was just a racer wedge type of thing. Is that the one you bought?

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. How did I know that? I just took it out to the garage where I'd show you guys that. But it's in a resin box and then it just has a little picture of that. And that's exactly what Salvinos did. really just a that standard resin box cardboard box and then they paste a picture on top of it. But what other stuff are they supposed to be coming out with? Those three IndyCars still? Well, yes, they do have those. And they do have another one that is somewhat intriguing.

Torben Rothgeb: um is, especially with all the Bobby Unser cards we watched this summer, because it's a throwback Bobby Unser scheme, but it's a Joseph Newgarden, and it comes with, they say it's a real deal, because if you order to the 3D parts, the 3D parts are like $30. But this, for only $90, So their standard Indy kits are $80. So for $90, you get the road course wing okay and parts that go with that. And then you get the decals for the Joseph Newgarden, the throwback Bobby Unser paint scheme. Which Bobby Unser paint scheme? It's blue and yellow and white. Oh, it's the blue one. So he ran that car like that?

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. He ran it one past year. This year he ran it one year. yeah It's blue. What's track? Was that Nashville or? Something memorable. Yeah, but it but it but it would look like the 75 winner almost. Oh, sure. No, that sounds interesting. Yeah. Did you see what it looked like? Yeah. It looks pretty good. It looks pretty cool. And I think the looks, you know, but I always want to build Indy 500 winners, but the looks of the road cars look better.

Torben Rothgeb: I think so, but, and they're doing it one other one. They're doing the winner of the freedom to 50 race, uh, Kirk, uh, Oh yeah, I remember his name.

Torben Rothgeb: I don't remember his name. You didn't watch it, so you probably don't remember who won. It was pretty it was such a boring race. The guy took out one in the lead. He passed on the first lap. Yeah, D .C.

Torben Rothgeb: oh kirk shelmerdine kirk no um i know who he yeah yeah he was It's the only way so ever. Kirk Gibson. Kurt Gibson. I don't believe what I just saw. um No. That's like one of my favorite scenes. It's a great moment. Not me. I was going for the A's. Oh, come on. and secretaryly was like

Torben Rothgeb: What the hell? Although the the funniest thing about that is watching that guy hit his brakes. There's a guy who thought he was going to leave early and beat the traffic. And then he hit slams on the brake. There's a guy in the parking lot because they're showing the ball go over the fence. probably There's a guy that slams on the brake and is turning around or like looking.

Torben Rothgeb: And they're just like, you you were at the game and you just missed one of the greatest moments in baseball because you wanted to leave early and beat the traffic. So I hope he felt horrible. I forget who the guy is, so this is another IndyCar. Yes. And they're going to do that same deal, $90, and you get a road course swing.

Torben Rothgeb: Where's the Oracle? and We need him. Phone a friend. Phone a friend. Well, I mean, she does it got the here's the thing. Just looked it up and see who won. Here's the thing. Couldn't you just like.

Torben Rothgeb: you know, you're going to do this kit and you're going to put it out in a low number, right? Cause it's going to be a low production. Oh God. Yeah. it's Like 10. Can't you just announce it and then sell whatever you, you know what I mean? You package them up to go.

Torben Rothgeb: I mean, because it's just... All it is is decals. Basically, that's all they're doing. Kyle Kirkwood. Actually, he's doing very well. He's actually doing well. He was leading the championship for a while, and him and Pelor are fighting it out. You're shortchanging poor Kyle Kirkwood. He's doing a good job.

Torben Rothgeb: got God, I haven't heard enough for you. All right, all right, all right. Yeah. Yeah. so um Well, now, we did kind of skip over the new releases. Don't want to do that either.

Torben Rothgeb: um ah there's There's not a lot. The Home Alone Dodge Ram Van is coming out. to That's coming out. All right. ah Well, and just now they're coming out with the Twisted Metal Ice Cream Truck. If you'd like to do weathering, that'd be a perfect project. i Speaking of the Freedom 250, we've got the All -American Race Team. yeah that You talk about one and done because I built that Mustang modified. We all did for that challenge.

Torben Rothgeb: um But you did a different body. He did a Corvette. Because that Mustang body came in 50 different pieces. It's pretty awful. actually Are you going to show it to us now? No, he's going to show it to us. I like that.

Torben Rothgeb: You liked it. I did not like it. That's it. It races into the thing. It's lived a rough life. What did I build mine as? I built mine as a General Mills one. Uh huh.

Torben Rothgeb: Was this when you were dating? Yes, a homage. I that really impressed her. I'm sure it did. but you All right, that's enough for you two. That's enough. Never enough, Bob. It'll be ill return again someday. Oh, Jesus. Well, just in time for Halloween, they have a lot of monster scenes.

Torben Rothgeb: uh You know, that's all Atlanta stuff. The hanging cage. That's all Atlanta stuff. The victim. They have the. Oh, my gosh. They have a glow in the dark. um Ed Roth kit that's coming out. you i know. i knew you I wanted to make sure you were paying attention to that. Thank you. No, I'm sure it's going to sound like crazy.

Torben Rothgeb: Well, actually, I think it was a, it wasn't a um Ed Roth. It was. um What's the ah What's the diorama that got... silver. Oh, that won gold. Oh, I thought you were talking about at Nationals. Oh, no, no. You've got another show.

Torben Rothgeb: and run shell One of them, he got it. gold and one of them they got it was they were lovely i thought they were great they were really well done really well done but it was the weirdos weirdos that's what this i think this glow -in -the -dark thing is a weirdo okay which you know it is what it is

Torben Rothgeb: So are those two Salvino Kisser, those are new as well? Well, yeah, the Forbes, they have both. That's the PPG. a p pg That's a nice looking car. Actually, Austin Sendrick is doing pretty good in the yeah that's chase. He was racing pretty good yesterday.

Torben Rothgeb: And then I like the charger that's got Earnhardt's first car. Yeah, that's a good looking car. Earnhardt's first car. Yep, the Dodge Charger. And then... Wait, there's more. But wait, there's more.

Torben Rothgeb: A club -exclusive Frank Warren native tan. um The last of him. Didn't he play in ZZ Top? never give me oh yeah know This is a good -looking car. Isn't that a good car? I do like that. Especially the Brad Keselowski. That's good -looking. They made very few numbers of the Fords. i What happened to him, though? Did he lose his ride?

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, and it's really odd because he was part owner of Rausch Fenway Kozlowski. So he's – but I think it was more for – He only has so many years left and wanted to maybe try to get a ride with ah a better team. I don't know.

Torben Rothgeb: But so he is, yep, he's leaving that. to that team. so But I always love the Castro colors. They're great. I'm a sucker. No, those are those are really cool colors.

Torben Rothgeb: And like I said, I do think. out of the Salvino's cars. I don't think Chevys will ever be worth much, but I do think the Fords, especially this last run, the Dark Horse Mustangs, because they're making so few of them. And, you know, like I said before. And they are doing well, too.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah i mean history has shown that if you have enough a few enough things even of nascar stuff Like with the Chase Elliott 24 Chevy. woba Even the Fusions are going up there. The the Dodges in the early 2000s. The Dodge truck. if there're few enough And there's certainly few enough of these.

Torben Rothgeb: um you know 10 years from now who knows somebody who went to the race and watched it win i want to build that or i do like the the earnhardt car that's a historic one if you're building a bunch of earnhardt cars Well, and they talked to the ah the guy or the owner's son.

Torben Rothgeb: that owned the race team. And he said, even though it doesn't quite look like Petty Blue, he said it was Petty Blue. It doesn't look as good. No, it doesn't. It looks almost, I'd be tempted to do. Speaking of color.

Torben Rothgeb: changes or mistakes. so What's the story on the pink for the... um I can't think of his name. West Texas. if The singer.

Torben Rothgeb: marty rob Marty Robinson. What's the story on the pink that was... the The body, the plastic, and the kit. is not the same color as the actual car.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, okay. I have not opened mine. Yeah, because there was someone on on Facebook that had his open. Okay. And it's not molded in purple. No, the right purple it's not the right purple. And what this guy was actually painting it, which actually looked.

Torben Rothgeb: Perfect to me was Panda Pink. oh And that looked... to me he looked right on i mean because he had the he had the body of the kid sitting there and he it was this It was this bright purple. It was just, it didn't look right at all. Wasn't the car purple?

Torben Rothgeb: Wasn't the car purple? Base color purple. But it it's not. It's more of a pink. Really? I mean, you have to find the pictures of the real car, but because but I mean... Anyway, um oh i was just texas telling bill pass I was telling him about there was like a little this little. article or whatever that was on Facebook and one of the NASCAR groups. And it had an article, a little deal on him.

Torben Rothgeb: And he was at Talladega. And he decided that he really wanted really wanted to be competitive because he knew he wasn't. So he basically. um You know, he... he broke the rules and he, you know, they had like restrictor plates at the time. This is at Talladega.

Torben Rothgeb: And he took those off and he was like laughing to feel. Oh my God. And then he came in and just basically said. I'm done. I screwed up. I wasn't, you know, being honest. Marty Robbins did this. yeah And then shortly, like an next like in a month later, he... um Well, there's kids in the other room, too. I knew they were going to come out. So here's the Marty Robbins. I mean, that doesn't look.

Torben Rothgeb: That's purple. That's purple. right Yes. and I like the fact that he went in the other room and got more kids. It's like, how far does that room go? Where's the secret door? You know where you go, push the door. Or it's the bookcase. Yeah, right.

Torben Rothgeb: Now you have the Buddy Arrington too. Yes. Can't have heard enough of that. So, I mean, you know.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, Torb, you have a lot of those kids. Yes, I do. You have to buy a minimum, don't you? Just one. Okay.

Torben Rothgeb: Every month. i mean i sorry and Like Lay's, you can't eat this one. The one this month was enough for me to to really almost throw in the hat. Which one was that? And it is a clue. club exclusive, but... it What does that mean, really? It's a Jimmy Smut Means. What? Smut? That's his nickname. His nickname is Smut. No. Stop it. Absolutely. Jimmy Smut who? Means.

Torben Rothgeb: Kimmy means. We're near the last of him. i where there was Why do they call him smut? It wasn't a dirty way. It wasn't. all It really wasn't. I don't. they He is actually on the Earnhardt download. on one of them. um oh Real nice guy. And Earnhardt said it's his favorite driver.

Torben Rothgeb: Really? Because he could pass them easy or what? and No, Earnhardt Jr. I guess he was saying, you know, hanging out as a kid, being bored of the track one time. ah Dale's car was right next to Jimmy Means' team. and ah man Dale Jr. was talking about just looking at him and it's like, this guy's out there working his ass off. you know My dad had all these crew members and stuff like that. and Here's this guy doing everything for his own car. you know And so that's why he said he ended up being his favorite because he saw just how hard, you know, like one of those independent guys. But it is, it's a Grand Prix. So it's ah the early 80s Grand Prix.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, it's all right. It's like white with red markings on it. But it's it's like something that an independent would drive. Just really like homely kind of just whatever you could scrape by to put on the car. Right. Something that Lucas C would. Oh, he loved it. When he yelled but yeah was on the Saturday show talking how much. This is my favorite Jimmy Means paint scheme. And I'm so glad you did that.

Torben Rothgeb: Of course, most people were like hoping for the Alka -Seltzer because the Alka -Seltzer car looked pretty cool. It was a light blue with a plop, plop. It is. What a relief it is.

Torben Rothgeb: But now they come to find out they don't actually have... that knows, somehow. You know, they bought the monogram stuff. They have the fan appreciation card. And they already announced that it's going to come out too, right? No, no, they didn't.

Torben Rothgeb: for The Jimmy Means car? Well, no, yeah, they have the 80, because it's just your standard 81 Pontiac Grand Prix that was kitted out like as a Richard Petty car. um Was it ever a...

Torben Rothgeb: skull car i don't know if it's a skull car go have been it came out uh they did it as a tim richmond car But yeah, it's been done a lot of times.

Torben Rothgeb: I'm trying to think of who they did an Earnhardt car like that. Anyhow, but no, um this was the 89 Pontiac for some reason. and They... You see so many of them for five bucks. um I got mine at the Nationals for $4, so there'd be no point in it.

Torben Rothgeb: you know Wherever that tool is. I just can't say no. again No. He didn't actually get into that with the swap meet. You didn't talk about that. and I'm not going to talk about that. No, really? it was it was Somebody was talking you down. No, was it was the Jim Allen. ah Trying to get a better deal with from Bob. For a NASCAR for $1. That's probably he got his fix on because I sold an Earnhardt Olympic. I had a 64 Petty Plymouth and it was like five bucks to him.

Torben Rothgeb: I have four. I said, five bucks. Yeah, that's a nice kid. There's a lot of racing parts in there. And he just wouldn't. He wouldn't pay it. so then eventually he came up fine He gave me five bucks. Because a heck of a deal.

Torben Rothgeb: But you said five. And I said, it's ten now. i say Did you really? I did. And he said, you just took it for five. Go ahead. Yeah, you're too nice. Because that kid has a lot of good racing cars. It does. Has a nice seat. Roll cage.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, You know, people said the wheels were shallow, in it but you know what? Those were still when they raced like 50 or 60 races a year. right So you want to tell me some night in Hickory, North Carolina, they didn't end up riding those wheels or something, you know? Yeah. Anyway, you're coming out with those three Indy cars too, huh?

Torben Rothgeb: So they got the Indy cars that covers the Salvinos. And we talked about the twisted metal ice cream truck. Is the Polo car the the DHL one, the yellow and red one?

Torben Rothgeb: Uh, it's a little, I think it's almost yellow, all yeah yellow. It's all yellow. Yeah. Okay. It's the one that he won the poll with. Right. Or the 500. Below won the poll. and then the maluka's car Okay. I think that might already be out. aren't they That might be out, yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: Okay. um so uh after you finish yours which looks really nice I'm very tempted to build another one. Yeah, you the second you go -round that goes together really quick, especially like... Like... I'm gluing it together. I'm not even going to mess with those radiator things. no Why? No one's going to see them. Right. Yeah. a to Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: It's one of those cards that's either in the middle, either blow up the whole thing yeah or yeah glue it all together. yeah altogether Yep, yep. All right, so that covers our new releases. Question of the month. Oh, have we talked about what's on the bench? No, we have not. All right. so ah um you have 25 things on the bench 25 things on the right well i you know i bought some

Torben Rothgeb: things recently very shocking no uh yeah can we talk about this proclamation the uh pure hell uh findings 116th fun car i need it's one of those things on my bucket list i bought so many of them i just need to build a 116th funny car so you started that that's on the bench started it ah Yes, I glued the front and the back on. I glued the cage together. um man so um Yep.

Torben Rothgeb: and trying to decide the purple. to use i got my friend ai here i don't know if i'm gonna use those it did say ah You know, we'll come up with a purple. um Actually, I don't think, you know, the purple that I painted the Charlie Glotz back card that doesn't look like super far away from. I think i think it looks pretty damn close. Yeah. so that's a great What did you use for that?

Torben Rothgeb: I used, wait for it. Wait for it. Hold on. I know, uh...

Torben Rothgeb: It was a tester, but it was not. The um... One coat. No, it wasn't the one. It wasn't the... um Purple -licious.

Torben Rothgeb: No?

Torben Rothgeb: It was. Model master, custom lacquer. Oh, really? Ultraviolet purple. Oh, mm -hmm So that's, that's a nice one. That's a flawed color. yep don't tell the holidays they will well they're not gonna like it anyway so yeaha no matter what what's the blue car in there that is the

Torben Rothgeb: That is a petty Talladega. have You got that going. And then a K &K insurance wind car. All right. so that was still on the wind Going pretty strong with the wing car project. Yeah, and looks like looks looks good. I love the wing car project. And then the finishing of the Donnie Allison car. What were you doing to that?

Torben Rothgeb: Oh. Well, right or something I just wanted to sand. It was sitting tight on those wheels because, you know, you use the PP and P wheels and they're they're really good looking, but they're a little wider than almost everything else. yeah And so I want to sand a little bit underneath the fenders to just give it a little.

Torben Rothgeb: uh, sit a little better. Didn't you have that done though? I mean, I had the body on it pretty much done. Right, but you said it wasn't done. right um I got to do the back bumper, and then I have the gas cap to go inside there. Okay. And I'm trying.

Torben Rothgeb: I wouldn't dare put the Ford. That came with the six decals on there. Because. If you remember the back of those cars, it it You have to twist it over there because it's not just flat on the back of the car. And so a break. So I'm actually just trying to look on any decal sheet anywhere.

Torben Rothgeb: to find the ford the size that goes on the back of the car are you it kind of a good size decals for that well the mike's decals gives you the banjo matthews 66 to 68 cars. Oh, um and that's not what you're building.

Torben Rothgeb: Man, I'm building the Talladega that he ran in. Yes. The one, the 66. sixty World 600. So you ran that car in 69 and 70. Yep.

Torben Rothgeb: ah The number 27s worked out good. ah The 427 on the hood and the Donnie Allison. um And then all the contingencies were great from that.

Torben Rothgeb: That's a mic sheet. Mic sheet. Okay. But I had to use a Sunny King Ford from the slip sheet, but luckily it was over a flat surface. and those So it was fine.

Torben Rothgeb: It was okay. Yeah. But... on the back of the car i just need a ford and i you know are you having success Because I've got a bunch of decals. I can look at my decals too. Yeah, just straight Ford block letters. Not the oval. Not the oval. Because the petty car had a Ford oval on the back of the car. So not the egg -shaped oval. No, just straight Ford block letters. Wow, okay. And so I've got to put the back bumper on that. All right, it looks cool. So you haven't found it yet then.

Torben Rothgeb: Haven't found it. Still haven't found one. You got a HeliocastroNervous IndyCar down there, too. I know, I know. It looks great so far. Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that car. um even you know the um What is it? The carbon fiber decals will probably be kind of a ah bear to put on. but Oh, on that car?

Torben Rothgeb: Well, you've got to put them on. Well, a lot of the engine actually is carbon fiber. But you don't see it. Yeah, yeah. But aren't the decals? um You know, the ironic thing. They're beautiful decals. Aren't they? um The power side.

Torben Rothgeb: oh i thought they were cartographed but they're cartographic right yeah the ironic thing was that uh gluing the sides together so you can't open them the whole time i was thinking because when i did the new garden kit It was so tight. I could pry the top that went over the engine. There's no way I was getting that back off there. And so there's no way I was going to see the engine. right And so then I really wasn't thinking while I was building that, well, i'm I'm not going to be able to open and the engine.

Torben Rothgeb: But I glued the stuff good enough together. that actually the engine cover comes off like it should. So I can put the engine. So then I do want to put a little more. detail on the engine okay since you will be able to take it off and and look at it. so um that But then with our club contest coming up, um of course, um I got other things that I'm...

Torben Rothgeb: Maybe thinking about something for the 80s thing, but I should just give it up because it's too far away. too But you've done a bunch of 80s cars are already. Yeah, I did a couple NASCARs. They're very middle -of -the -road stuff.

Torben Rothgeb: but um I was wanting you to do the um the pro stock uh 711 car Okay. You know, I got... You got a month. Yeah, it's probably too late. You're talking about the Bladen car? I mean...

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, because I got... Thank you, John. I mean I got it pretty much. I got all the the roll cage together. That's a big car. I got the engine together. So I just obviously need to paint it. It's all white, right? White and blue. The back of it's blue.

Torben Rothgeb: and Yeah, I said I was able to find some decals for this too it's a royal It's a royal blue, so it's pretty dark. You think the Mark Martin Valvoline blue would be a good match for that? I'd have to see what that...

Torben Rothgeb: looks like compared to what you're looking at right there. Mm -hmm I mean, you have a Mark Martin. I'm sure you have a Mark Barton car. Bob took it back. Bob took it back. It was my car. Yeah. It's a Royal blue. Yeah. he's selling on it for you All right. yeah Well, I mean, there's decals.

Torben Rothgeb: there's There's the blue. Yeah. Well, I took these day cows from the funny carp. But then I have the decals. To me, it makes a nice dark blue, too. That might be nice for that. It's the same 7 -Eleven, though. Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: yeahp Yeah. So, yeah, may I might make it, but then, you know. Don't forget your instructions. food here. You don't want to lose your destructions. What about you, Maestro?

Torben Rothgeb: Well, I'm not one to have like five or six things going at once. so I'm actually going to, I'm actually back on the. Uh, white elephant. Oh, okay.

Torben Rothgeb: you know our club white elephant so that's what i'm going to try to get done because i That's one of those that I always try to get done because it's... It's always better to have a a late pick. Oh, there's nothing like sitting back and just watching watching the great stuff. I mean, there are exceptions to the rule. Like when you got, what was the.

Torben Rothgeb: We had the rule for a while. Oh, yes. Well, and the odds, there's only one person. Well, there's two people left that we're going to pick after me, and I'll sit next to one of them. I asked, youre not you have no interest in that Jagermeister Porsche? She said, oh, no.

Torben Rothgeb: Don't. Don't worry about it. but but Eric was left. And he did a beautiful job on it. He did. He built it. Yeah. so yeah So anyway. where do you So you're working on the white elephant? what Yeah. what What is your white elephant? It's not, you know, it's one I built several.

Torben Rothgeb: several of so I think I can you know pop it together shake and bake but it's it's another one of the model a kits oh yeah the 29. Oh yeah. Yeah. It was, it was a no brainer. It's like, well, I can do this thing. You've done, the ones you built were beautiful. Yeah. So yeah. So that's what I'm working on right now. We'll get that done. And then I have time for.

Torben Rothgeb: others. which I won't. But anyway. Yeah. Well, I need to get cracking on that Lotus too. That's my white elephant. Oh, the 49, yeah, right. you've got You've got the main part of it done.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, it was painted and it had a yellow stripe on it. I got three things working on. I got a... uh i'm working on the i'm doing a dragster you guys can mock me but i'm doing the dragster i already know this so yeah i'm doing this he had me overcome oh yeah i picked my brain on i did colors and things right there was help very helpful

Torben Rothgeb: We'll see how much he actually follows my lead. The Fiat, the dragster. It's an old kit. It's really interesting to deal with it. you know People love the hell out of it. they do because they just they reissued the double kit right about Well, it's probably been about 15 years now. Yes, at least. You're not talking about lot the tin, though. You're talking about the... Just a regular kiln. The tin, and then the one I've got here is one of the last reissues. The decals look really nice.

Torben Rothgeb: And then I'm building a... ah

Torben Rothgeb: Citroën did a van from 1947 to 1984 and it was abused ubiquitously in France. You know, for bakeries, for plumbers. Tasty bakery? Tasty. So it was on sale at the Nationals for half price. It was an AK kit. Oh, nice. It's one of their new kits. So how much was it then? It was $30. I mean, they were dis expensive, but it was like $30. And it's 35th scale, so it's small. It's the coolest little... So it's really cute. It's really cute. So it's yellow. Are you going to do a diorama? and No, no diorama. Maybe a turntable? i Maybe a turntable. Two turntables. And then I'm going to try to...

Torben Rothgeb: match our friend Mr. Martin. I've got the same plane. I'm doing a racing plane. I'm doing one of Jimmy Doolittle's. The super solution. So it's it's it's a techno kit. It's really, really... The Doolittle group. Isn't that the one that bombed... japan yeah right same guy this is 1931. So he was a racing plane guy. He wrote re did racing planes for years. Jimmy Doolittle. So it it was it's a very...

Torben Rothgeb: crude. kit and it's a bear you know so i'm but I'm going to give it a shot. So those are what I'm working on. so Okay. very Nice. Nice. so we Ever get the, um,

Torben Rothgeb: rigging from him yet. Not yet. I've got plenty of little things. The super secret magic. I'll have to figure it out. sounds ah Mr Martin has some. Oh, special. Secret rigging stuff. Special rigging. Real thin wire, because that's, you know, since 72nd, the plane's about that big.

Torben Rothgeb: you know So it's really small. So you're going to have your like little. big magnifiers that's the yellow one right it's yellow and this one you have a yellow and green one yeah The interesting thing about that, I was looking at that the other night, is that the yellow and the green.

Torben Rothgeb: I don't know how much time you spent. like driving through Iowa. but it looks like a decal. Yep. Decal is what it looks like. yeah Because it's that ugly green.

Torben Rothgeb: and that you're using like testers yellow. or Well, and and one guy built one on. A .K .A. Penzo. Well, let that go. Never let it go. One guy built one of the old Williams Brothers kit that has him one of the those. And so it's a big one. And he used his testers green.

Torben Rothgeb: and testers yellow it looks pretty darn close there's an uh it looks a little more olive and i think and so but i'm going to see i'm just going to play around with it it's not going to be fun Bye.

Torben Rothgeb: but you know i want You have to look at it with an open mind. I know. i will It's not going to be fun. You look at he he takes everything with fun. Yeah. Yeah. And his middle name. It's just, it's all about. Right. That's right. Can't you tell? Yeah. Well, you know, kudos to that. Bill Elliott car looks really good. thank you Really well, Bob. Well, to your. You helped me a lot.

Torben Rothgeb: Thank you very much. So what did you help him with? He gave me the correct tires and wheels. Well, I gave you some Salvino's wheels, which are bigger than the original ones. The monograms are too small. They were too small. Because that really makes the car. That was the 87 car? 87, the 200 mile an hour car. I don't know how Aaron has any trouble.

Torben Rothgeb: with the powerslide decals. Yeah. I don't see if anyone has any trouble with them. They're beautiful decals. There is one exception. I know there is. You can't use cartograph decals. so They're just gorgeous decals to go on. Bar slides are great.

Torben Rothgeb: No, you know, and it just painted it white and red, and it was just a peach to do. And what color red was that? Tamiya? Tamiya Pure Red. I airbrushed the Pure Red on. Did you put the pink primer on it too then? Pink primer on the whole thing, baby. That's what did it. Okay. That's what the ticket is. It pops, you know. So anyway.

Torben Rothgeb: So that's what's going on. Okay. where we go And we're looking pretty good for our, you know, you got an 80s car and now you have your Charger. White Elephant done and my Charger. It's time for the white elephant Triple And Triple Crown will be. Doesn't Mr. Allen have his already done? Oh, I'm sure he does. I think he does. I think for next year even. And Dana was ah was kind of upset with that. Were you at the meeting? Oh, that's right. he but Yeah, you were there. Yeah, you were there. He was upset about what? Well, he really he wanted to do a Jim Allen where one fit.

Torben Rothgeb: f Oh, yeah yeah yeah, I didn't understand how you could be confused about that Well, he found a way. No, I'm serious, because I was like... I felt like I had to draw a picture on the whiteboard. Yeah, you were explaining it just the way it was supposed to be, and I was just sitting there going...

Torben Rothgeb: I know. Well, know it's just. yeah but i well he He wanted to do it a certain way and it didn't fit the rules. He did have it set. and so Whatever.

Torben Rothgeb: But yeah, so. Yeah, and for our listeners, we did a triple crown. Anybody who would builds both contests and their white elephant can see. Beautiful triple crown.

Torben Rothgeb: The finest piece of jewelry that Oriental Trading Supply makes. It was... Plastic of the highest degree. But still looks good in the pictures. I know. I got to order some more because it seems like you and Jim, Alan, and then maybe. I thought Eric was trying. I think Eric is coming close. I think he's done. He's got a charger, but he's got the syndrome. So I don't know if he's going to get it done. The syndrome.

Torben Rothgeb: Not the China syndrome. but they Yes. ah is there So we'll see. I know.

Torben Rothgeb: So are we looking at club themes next year already? Wow. well Already. We'll probably have to come up with them. i man What would be some ideas? Well, you know, the first thing to go is your year. so And being a 7, you got your obvious 57 Chevy. You got your first year Camaro.

Torben Rothgeb: um would be two that would fit in really good. or Just sevens in general, anything with a seven. What would we have for the, there was some MCCM. Themes that had the seven in them, right? with Yeah It had the 57. There were some bizarre choices and stuff. you know How they got these to go together and stuff. I like anything with a seven because you could do a race car that's number seven.

Torben Rothgeb: Could I do something that has a seven in it if I want to do? A Donnie Allison car or a Tim. um Richmond. Richmond car. At 27, would that work or am I stretching it?

Torben Rothgeb: I don't know technically. I'm having a brain fart. Did he drive? Yeah, I guess. Was his old Milwaukee cars? Yeah, yeah. Just want to eat this one right here. Oh, yeah. That's 27. You're right. Yes, I forgot. Yeah. So sevens, is that's a great idea.

Torben Rothgeb: yep And do we continue on with the... We're doing 80s race cars. Would we? Um, What have we done? We did tried to do 70s race cars and it didn't get a big... response.

Torben Rothgeb: How long ago was it that we did? all those time scars That was a while ago. Yeah. That was like before Salvino's, you know. Yep. I mean, 70s is a million things you could do. There is a lot of stuff to do. And the cars still look pretty damn cool. In the 60s, you could do a pure hell funny car. We did 60s, though. Okay. All right. We did 70s, right? Did we do 80s?

Torben Rothgeb: That's this year. Well, and a theme I've put for years but doesn't seem to get much traction is just Y2K, anything 2000 or later. But people don't seem super interested in that. Well, I think it'd be cool. I mean, I'd build one of those. one those Formula One cars, come on.

Torben Rothgeb: Interesting. Try that. See if you want to go 2000 and later. Yeah. I think that's a great one. Yeah. It's worth a shot. yeah Yeah, you know.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, so we'll have to see that. All right. Well, that has taken us to the Super 6. Our boy scariest things, model related or not model related.

Torben Rothgeb: ah Yeah. Okay. I got in an interesting discussion with one of our second grade teacher at the buses. And I don't know if you've been outside much. Maybe it's just over in the Kenwood neighborhood. But we had a lot of ladybugs just flying around today and landing on her. And she was freaking out about ladybugs. And she was talking about how they just make her sick, the smell of them and this and that.

Torben Rothgeb: Is she from around here? Yeah, I think so I mean, and I said the only bugs that really bother me are are roaches and centipedes. And she said, well, at least roaches are big and you can see them.

Torben Rothgeb: And I'm like, what? No, the roaches are 10 times worse. I don't want to see a roach this big. Absolutely. I mean, I have a... 10 ladybugs land on me and just flick them off But if a roach crawled on me, oh.

Torben Rothgeb: That's. That's one of the things that just really Okay. That's just crazy. Roaches would be a scary thing, yes. But you've got maestro. I don't really have a scariest thing model -related. You don't have anything in model -related that scares you? Oh, go ahead. do You go ahead. You want to guess me all the time, is it?

Torben Rothgeb: When i'm I'm working, and this is usually when I'm, because I always like speed up when it's like, it's getting close to being done. Here I go, here I go. And I'm not careful. That's my biggest, scariest thing. So I've got, you know, I've got this glue I'm putting on this thing and here's the car right here or the plane. And all of a sudden it's like.

Torben Rothgeb: god i it just misses the model and I'm like oh god oh god and I take it I put it in the case it weighs Just work on what you're working on here. Don't have it sitting there. It's it's that glue glob that will hit the car or the plane. Yeah, I could see that. Yeah. yeah

Torben Rothgeb: Or losing a piece. Oh, that's a good one too. It's just amazing how far it bounces into just nowhere. Or yeah yeah done or it ends up on the back of the cat. Mugsy.

Torben Rothgeb: And that's one of the scariest things about doing ah an expensive record. I don't mind. I'm a builder, and not a collector. And in the grand scheme of things, even if you have a $300 kit.

Torben Rothgeb: That's not much. I mean, you take the kids out to dinner and shit like that. Right. I know. Dental bill or any kind of medical bill. or yeah dropping the Property taxes. but Right. Exactly. Worse. but But the thing that bothers me, like.

Torben Rothgeb: Cracking up a $300 kit and building it is just if you lose a part. and then yeah I would say losing an expensive part would be... something that was maybe Photo etched. you know what is this photo edge device that you speak of Give us ah a model one. You can come come up with a model. and come Model one? Yeah. Model one. Scary model one? Yeah, I mean.

Torben Rothgeb: I don't know. um

Torben Rothgeb: I can't think of anything on top of that. I'll give you one. um Any of these like indie cars that you do, the the short run ones. is or even any of the 40 thirds I built.

Torben Rothgeb: is cutting out The VAC fall glass is just frightening. Yeah, 40 thirds of glass is is a challenge. And you're waiting for the whole windshield just to snap off, too, because you're cutting, kind of cutting around this and that. You're just doing this, you know, cutting that. and and then the other one is sanding the glass i get in Like in this little citron, the glass is too big.

Torben Rothgeb: God damn it, why did they make it too big?

Torben Rothgeb: And so then I'm sanding it. And you're thinking it's going to crack any second. I'm going to crack this right in half. Any second. And it doesn't. You know. It was just, you know. When I built that GT40 43rd and it was the convertible one. So you had that starter kit vacuform glass that you had to cut out that went around like a halo around the front side of the car. Good times. And then I'm just. Basically, I just flooded it with a bunch of future.

Torben Rothgeb: In the cracks and this and that to just get it to sit kind of where it's supposed to sit in this little trench. and and you know because and then then you're cutting it so it kind of leaves that line well yeah they get white it's this is the white line all sudden and then the future covers that up luckily but yeah that was one of those things when i did the um the Cobra Daytona Coupe that it went really well was.

Torben Rothgeb: Because you you don't have... headlight decals. uh -huh They gave you these, you know, vacuform headlights. Oh, this is such a joy. and But you had to basically, you know, you had this little lip where the where the glass was going. And you had to basically, I had used.

Torben Rothgeb: future on it. And I basically laid the future on the top of the glass and just let it dry and it sucked it right down. Yeah. It's not moving. i know that I mean, I'm sure you could pull it off, but you know, it it just, it was, it was too good to be true. Yeah. no That's always a frightening thing. Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, my other one is the airbrush that spits. That's my worst. Chugs or burps. or What the hell was that? The orange peel thing. Laying down a wonderful paint job and then It just spits. It starts spitting some crap.

Torben Rothgeb: And I'm doing a or a yellow car. and That's it. What's that? Where did that come from? Is there a decal that covers that up? God damn it. you know i didn't Well, another scary thing is a bare metal foiling, especially something that doesn't have good lines. Like if it's an old kit, old mold and they're early just and you're just kind of, they tell you not to put any pressure on the knife. So you're letting the weight of the knife, and but you're just waiting.

Torben Rothgeb: You had to cut yourself. yeah I looked at the 44 sedan. I'd like to do that next year sometime. So I'm looking at it. I love the Skoll car. It reminds me of when I was a kid, I built those. And that old head line, that chrome line. That straight line that goes across the coach kit. The old AMT 44 stand. You've got that straight line and chrome that goes on the side of the car. So I was just holding it like this. Yeah, that's true. Like you said, I had the blade and I was like.

Torben Rothgeb: God. Hi. That's almost one that you have. Like I bought that kind of straight edge for cutting the line. And then like.

Torben Rothgeb: Trying to line it up on the top side of the chrome. And then at least you can cut the bottom side. It's not so visible if it's not a great thing. Bob did a nice demonstration of that. Try to get one as close as you can.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. Have a day. You know, get as close as you can. No, he was just doing straight oil bare metal foil. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a nice job. One's done, so then you only have to worry about, you know.

Torben Rothgeb: breathing, you know, the other no caffeine. You know what I mean? And that's terrible. That is scary. And then, ah you know.

Torben Rothgeb: And then even around the windows, like, ah you know, the little side vent window things and trying to wrap it around without coming up. But another thing that has helped is that Fusion chrome paint to touch up. Because you used to be able to, people would recommend touching up with a tester silver, but it just didn't look right. Now that chrome paint, you can that man put it in somewhere and it matches a bare metal foil. Right, because on the Fiat.

Torben Rothgeb: the heads the the cylinder heads a chrome and i'm going to leave him come but i'm going to use your technique you spray um smoke over them right yeah I'm going to spray some smoke. of Do you thin it then? You don't have to spray it straight. No, I do thin it. Well, the the so top of the cylinders are chrome in the kit.

Torben Rothgeb: okay so i'm thinking so their valve covers i'm sorry valve covers my fault the valve covers and so i think i'm going to spray them like that and then um I had to cut them off the tree in a big line. And that. And that he's going to get more kids now. They're hiding over there. No, he's digging out the kids so he can start building it. Yeah. and While we're talking.

Torben Rothgeb: And that that matched the chrome perfectly. Well, no, and i did I painted some of that smoke on the chrome here. Let me see. And you can kind of see that it takes the edge off a little bit on the center lines and stuff. Now, well, speaking of the the Pure Hell, ah now they do have a picture on the box where they have center lines. I mean, I know you said the car had five spokes.

Torben Rothgeb: um funny So you sprayed smoke on these? Yeah. So it's not is that what you did on this right here yeah And the whole tree, basically. yeah So I can't see any smoke, though.

Torben Rothgeb: No, because it just cut it just dulls it a little bit. It dulls it just a little bit. It's not black black. Okay. you know. But like I said, because it will look at you. The one that's too bad you didn't bring yours over because out of the box, it looks really shiny. Really shiny.

Torben Rothgeb: And I don't think it really, well, you're talking about this here. No, I bet, yeah. i mean It just looks like chrome to me. Yeah. But I think if you laid it next to the other ones. If I brought mine over. Yeah. What were you thinking? Thanks, Jim. Let's compare notes. It's the same kit. Okay, so. I know. I painted the smoke. Let's have the discussion about the car again. Well, if you brought yours, yeah you would have the smoke.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah Okay. So the Pure Hell car that's on the box. Yeah. That version is... This after he had a. fire with the car. Okay. so That's why it has those wheels on it.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, okay. that particular one that's on the box. Cause that's. they wanted to put that Car on the box. Yeah. However... You're going to want it you want to do the other version, right?

Torben Rothgeb: Why? What's the advantage of the other one? Did he win a big race so with the other one? Well, that was the first version of it. That's the more famous version because it was. different driver.

Torben Rothgeb: different wheels and tires. I mean if you look at the pictures of the car, the real car. I mean, you can you can do whatever you want. Okay. It's it's a personal preference. I mean that that is the original car right there.

Torben Rothgeb: Got the five spoke Americans. Oh, right in the front wheels. Yeah. The front wheels. And the back ones are different too. And this is the other thing. I told you this before. And I know it's hard to remember these things.

Torben Rothgeb: The chassis on this is like a really nice um candy blue. I mean, there are other pictures of it, there are other places where you can find that. I can send them to you. But um it was ah it was a beautiful car. I mean, he had he was loaded. It sounded like it was finished off really nice. Oh, it it was gorgeous. So different driver. So this is Dave Beebe. Yeah, this that was the second driver. Both.

Torben Rothgeb: Rich Guasco is the the owner. May I see that for a minute? And if you look at that other older picture, it's... some I can't remember the guy's name now. It's a very odd name. Here, let me see this one.

Torben Rothgeb: Dave? No. That is odd. No, this... Can you read this this name on the... up here in the top. i don't have my reading glasses with me this one Yes, el Elgin Coakler, Elton Baylor. Belgian Cochlear.

Torben Rothgeb: This is a good looking car. What do they do for the, do they have raised letters for the race master slicks? No, they they're pretty bad. The decals decals are in the decal sheet. The newer wheels, because Atlantis redid the wheels, so they're pretty cool. okay No, Atlantis didn't redo the wheels. Those are the...

Torben Rothgeb: super tricks you're talking about. Don't want to deal. you um Put smoke. paint on them These right here. no I'm talking about the tires. the tire is not tires Tires and wheels. So the tires are flat. They don't have any... the Oh, that's cool. so No, those are really nice. They did a really nice job on the tires. Yep. They're two pieces still, right? where they Still two pieces. Yeah, but they... they Tuck right into the bag.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah you can't they don't look like two pieces there's little tummy tuck there we go yeah yeah Yeah. ah well really Getting tired? Well, you know, back to the advice. Time for Bobby to go to bed.

Torben Rothgeb: just a time You know, Chad does a real nice job of painting the chrome and not doing bare metal foil. That was interesting. He's the only person I've ever heard that does that. Yeah. But it looked good. Paul Johnson does that too. He masks off and paints the crumb.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah, I mean, with with how good chrome paint is nowadays. Oh, yeah. I don't know, but think how long it takes to bare metal foil something. Yeah, that's true. it i think I mean, when I build my Hudson Hornet, I might just. When you build your Hudson Hornet, yes.

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. that's alar Is that on the bench? No. Sorry, sorry, sorry. No, I have done what I've done. Is it close to the bench? Is it in the same room as the bench? I have cut all the parts off the tree. Oh, that's good. I'm saying all of them.

Torben Rothgeb: Small stuff, yeah. I'd have to go back and look. You want me to go get that one too? Sure, you want me to go get my kit and we can compare notes. Wow. We can drive home. Bob, just talk for a while. Just talk for a while, Bob. That wouldn't take much. That wouldn't take long.

Torben Rothgeb: Oh, Lord. So is this the kids that used to have the real... flabby tires that were just really difficult to eat. Well, they were just really thin, I remember. Well, yeah, they were. they were simulated rubber tires right yeah Unfortunately, over time, the Robert Wood.

Torben Rothgeb: start to melt inside the box. Oh God. Is this one you've got the, that what's his name, the the the decals to do? Yeah, I mean, like I said. All from. ah Actually, I cut sand in most of the parts. This is when you go up to the cabin, right? I got the body prepped and stuff. The problem, here's what it is. so i mean That's a great car. Look at the dam. The decals are too bad. I mean, that's in it's a great, it's it's a what's his name?

Torben Rothgeb: I guess these decals are a little better. These are the first decals I get, and they were really bad. Um, but Those are terrible. These are a little better Now, who made who did these? I don't know. bottom I bought them at a show. Those aren't kit decals?

Torben Rothgeb: No. They never kitted out the Herb Thomas. They never did the Herb Thomas card, which is stupid. They have a number on here, though. yeah So you could do Herb Thomas. This one you can do too. You can do Marshall Teague.

Torben Rothgeb: Those are nice. Yeah, they can't they look really nice. All right. So. But back to back to scariest things model related. I'll tell you what another scary thing is. When I opened up that Hubley model from Scott Gladstein, that was super scary. All that metal and chibi.

Torben Rothgeb: I just thought it would be like a die -cast, you know, some of those. Oh, no. oh those oh Oh, my God. There's metal hanging. You would cut yourself. Wait a second. Isn't that a challenge? can It is. It is a challenge. It's never going to get done. And I don't blame him at all.

Torben Rothgeb: I would never do it. Is that this one here or is that?

Torben Rothgeb: That's the metal one. The hubbly one. No, the hubbly is metal. And that's scary. Just opening up the box. And there's metal sharp, jagged metal things on each side. yeah Have you ever tried to build one of those? I was given one by, who is the gentleman? Joel Dernberger gave me one. You could do one of these, Bob. And I could took it home and I went, no, I can't. And I put it in the box and put it away. Because it was horrifying. Yeah. you know it was like a 31 chevy or something And it was just...

Torben Rothgeb: Okay, so. But no, that that is, yeah I mean, you guys have to have some scary kits. The Revell Gasser kits, all of those are scary. Henry J. The Henry J.

Torben Rothgeb: The 41 Austin. or whatever year Austin that is. Just an awful kit. That sounds delightful. Chevy's that they just reissued. The 55, 6, and 7. The way people are buying those, and Ralph sells them like hotcakes. I know. The box art's really cool. Speaking of which. um His wife's funeral is...

Torben Rothgeb: October, was it? 16th. So it's not this Friday, but next Friday. And I didn't know that she was in bad health. So Ralph is a guy in our club who sells a lot of kids. How did you know she was in bad health?

Torben Rothgeb: Well, i I didn't know. She was. Well, she was. so But anyway, we just want to go and pay it homage to her and because Ralph's a good guy. Yeah. And we want to. um Well, I mean, it's the old, you know, put.

Torben Rothgeb: put yourself in someone else's shoes. Yeah. So that's 16th. And that was, you know, at Nordicon. It was at Nordicon. He came home and she was she was dead. Really? Yeah.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah I mean, she wasn't in hospice or anything? No, she came home when she was dead. Just like a heart attack kind of thing or something. And you had to talk to the police. Right. For what reason? They wanted to know, you know. I mean, the husband's always the first suspect. They wanted they wanted to know where you saw.

Torben Rothgeb: you know If I saw Ralph at the show, I was the first one to see him. the police was he there And was he there all day? Yep. And I saw him leave. Apparently that's a normal standard procedure. The woman who was the cop was really nice about it.

Torben Rothgeb: yeah Okay. So anyway. Did you get her number? Yes. Handcuff me. He said she was really nice. here Anyway. i I think he's already played those roles.

Torben Rothgeb: he's yeah he's like gary He's going like this, you know, say sirrah. Oscar -worthy. Oh, for crying out loud. Anyway, I think we've done it. I'll tell you another thing that is scary.

Torben Rothgeb: I was using my motor tool one time. The motor tool? Yeah, the motor tool. It's a moto tool, not a motor tool. Well, it's got a motor in it. A moto. A mini -moto tool. I am a mini -moto tool. Anyway.

Torben Rothgeb: And I was. It was that little, ah the disc, the little saw blade thing, right? Oh my God. good careful for that that was on the And my eyes were good back then. So I didn't need cheater glasses. and Anyway, the thing finally gave fruit way and I had to duck.

Torben Rothgeb: And it came flying at my head. You had time to react to that? I did. I did. ah You must have been a lot younger then. I had better eyes and better reflexes. I ducked, but I thought, man, that thing would have caught me right in the middle of the forehead or taken an eye out or something. yeah So that's a very scary thing.

Torben Rothgeb: Yep. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Well, you guys don't have anything else that you were scared of. I'm very careful now with wire. You know, when I'm rigging World War I airplanes, because I got one right underneath my finger and I had to have an operation on it. You almost lost your finger. No, I didn't. But it was scary. She wanted to amputate it. She wanted to take that finger. she says And I said, stop saying the A word, I said.

Torben Rothgeb: Amputation is not what I want. So anyway. All right. That sounded pretty scary though. It was. So what do we got coming up before next show? Well, we're kind of in a dead zone, aren't we? We're in a bit of a dead zone. We're pretty much done with shows. There's a Detroit show. In past years, yeah, we had gone to the Detroit show. Or do you got the Acme show? November.

Torben Rothgeb: um Yep. Yeah. And then the the favorite three meetings of the month. before RPM is the out of the closet. the club contest the outer closet does nothing for me i know it does that's fine yeah but those are my favorite three meetings yes The club contest is fun. And man, it's gotten hard though. it's gone You know, I won the first one I went to. It was like 2005 or 2006. And you said like, yeah, I'm going to clean up. My Pearson Charger won.

Torben Rothgeb: Um, and then, but now it's gotten to the point where it's just a lot of good builders. It's just like guys in our club, like Troy Stanky and Doug Long and just all underrated builders. And then you got Howard, you got you got. Just to all kinds of great builders. Don't forget Monxy. The holidays. Mugsy coming back with a vengeance. With a vengeance, yeah. Yes, Mugsy's coming back. Tom. Especially when he gets out of motorcycles. That's going to start next month. Our favorite 3D printer designer, Steve Hansen, can come with it. really tough favorite 3d You better be careful

Torben Rothgeb: Yeah. he's my well ah Well, not about a friend of the show, Randy. But... Now, Steve designs the stuff. He does. So he designs his own stuff. We understood your point. So, yes. Randy's the best. I'm going to try to get him a T -shirt. We actually need – who is that? The great name. Your friend with the great name.

Torben Rothgeb: John Robinette? a Robinette, yes. We'll have to get him working on some t -shirts. I'm constantly getting asked about merch everywhere I go. I thought Clint was going to help us with that. I think Clint is... ah I don't know. Busy.

Torben Rothgeb: Busy, yeah. yeah Busy. I just saw him at the the marathon thing. I think. Oh, on Sunday? Yeah. Okay. I think he was here running. uh he must have i mean i think he did the marathon he did like a 5k 10k they got different distances so is there the other thing is there a toy show in november Yes, I don't have the date for you yet. Okay, yeah. Because jackson's Jackson has to be embodied.

Torben Rothgeb: It's before Thanksgiving. It's on Saturday, right? Yep. Okay. hope It'll probably be the same day as some of the meetings. Yeah. No, I don't think so. Well, maybe Probably the same day as our meeting.

Torben Rothgeb: Could be. So make a quick run over there. I'll grab Cameron and go. I think the show is on Saturday. so Okay. That it would be the same as a meeting.

Torben Rothgeb: We get two things through. Double the fun. Double your pleasure. Double your fun. Thank you, Double Mint Girls. Other than that, yeah, we're up until Hope It Don't Snow. You got it, baby. I mean, you have the MSN meeting.
