Community Engagement and Games

00:04:23
Speaker
ah Last week on our off week, we played a worm-themed Quiplash. Yeah. That was a lot Yes, we did. That was pretty fun. That was lot of fun. That was something.
00:04:35
Speaker
and With ah questions submitted. and you know as a patron member, you can relive that glory-filled time. ah you know Because we we do have that safe. Glory-filled.
00:04:46
Speaker
I think that's going a little far. Glory-hole-filled. That's what I was implying. It was implied. those it was implied A lot of things getting filled on that. Filled glory. Now's a great time. Like a Boston cream donut.
00:05:02
Speaker
It's my favorite kind of donut is the glory filled donut. um Now's my oh yeah perfect time to apologize for everything we say and also to yeah welcome please future listeners. I cast this for adult listeners, not meant for children.
00:05:19
Speaker
but And this is, of course, my time to say that ah we ignore what Michael said. i apologize for nothing. Clearly ignoring me. Yes. Hello, future listeners also, because this is also still a podcast you can listen to after the fact, after ah the live.
00:05:36
Speaker
So hello, for those of you who consume us that way.

Creative Merchandise Ideas

00:05:40
Speaker
Thank you for listening. We're so glad you consume us.
00:05:46
Speaker
That's how you want to phrase that? Sorry, look, Michael said it first. I'm only... That's by far not the word. yeah You know, yeah it's not that we've already said worse things today. so Exactly. Yes, absolutely.
00:06:01
Speaker
ah Could you imagine? like and a What's the the quote from Alice in Wonderland? Is it Alice in Wonderland? Except it's like I say six worst things before I get up out of bed.
00:06:13
Speaker
It's before breakfast, but... now I'm just imagining i'm just imagining a donut shop with like bad superhero themed things and it's like, get your bone basket of glory holes.
00:06:27
Speaker
was little Little like golden donut balls. No, it's just it's just the peace among worlds from Rick and Morty where he's like taught him the wrong thing. But it's like flipping flipping them off and saying it's a peace sign.
00:06:41
Speaker
Anyway, as part of our warm up, what would be your you're like other your like cape themed donut? Cape themed donuts?
00:06:52
Speaker
Yeah. um I hate when you ask these. but I think ah alexander we'd have the Alexandria, right? Which looks like a normal chocolate cream donut, but on the inside, it's filled with like gummy bugs and worms.
00:07:06
Speaker
I was smart. I was going to say filled with light. It's actually an icing coated steel block. You just chomp it and you just break all your teeth.
00:07:17
Speaker
and yeah i I'm thinking what I like to call the second trigger, which is fillet-to-open jelly-filled donut. No. Like you cut over the top and blood eagle. Mine's just simple like. Also known as the grew. The grew.
00:07:35
Speaker
ah so note like bre but
00:07:40
Speaker
Mine's just a simple ah gold leaf, you know, gold morning, but it's like shiny, gold, edible gold. yeah yeah or Or like the scion or something something like that.
00:07:51
Speaker
And you get transported to another universe. Right. Yep. Exactly. yeah on I'm imagining the the sveta is so, it's it's a and ah squid ink filled donut, but it harkens back to her old name because it's filled with so much squid ink, it chokes you.
00:08:09
Speaker
You're just choking on splitting. See, i'm picking off yeah yeah I'm thinking like ah like ah like a St. Paddy's Day themed green food coloring donut with like lemon inside.
00:08:23
Speaker
and it's the, you know, you needed worthy of donuts. That's it. That's it. that's it
00:08:32
Speaker
That's the end. i Fantastic. I feel real stupid. I'm going to need you to say it again or repeat it or explain it. The explanation, ah it is a bit of a stretch. Yellow lemon filling. It's called what?
00:08:46
Speaker
The you needed worthy donuts. Instead of opponents. Instead of of opponent needed oneworthy opponents. opponents. It's Eidolon getting collapsed. Oh, I was like, what is the green and the yellow? I don't understand. No, it was a stretch. it was a stretch. Would you guys wear merch of these donuts, like a shirt for each of them?
00:09:10
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. What if we got like like the Undersiders? I don't think we should wear a shirt. No description. Absolutely not. That's a terrible one. Hold on. hold um Someone will. We need to go back to Michael's donut thing.
00:09:23
Speaker
Okay. It's donuts, but they're the under cider donuts, like all stood up in a row. ah No explanation. It's like, just like, look, they're like, I feel like I could draw that. I feel like I could, I could do something. I have somebody else I could put on. and but don sure Yeah.
00:09:41
Speaker
Now you can put it on somebody else. don't know have time, but I can see that working. Like I can, I might imagine in my head. Yeah. I'll commission this from somebody. Um, Yeah. Yeah. No. All right. Anyway, back to our quick, maybe real quick.
00:09:54
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Ellen and I are both a sporting merch, but you can't buy his. You can only buy mine. Ellen's was a special make, but you can buy the Brockton Bay Book Club t-shirt.
00:10:08
Speaker
If you'd like, and we also have the Brockton Bay's sweatshirt, which no one is sporting today, but that's okay. We've sported them in other episodes. I'll be honest. um I'm upset that we do not have a Brockton Gaze special for last month.
00:10:23
Speaker
um so We should have had one. I really feel like we blue-brassed that. Oh, yes, Michael. Michael's sporting sweatshirt. Shout out, legend. a our brotoface sweatshirt.
00:10:37
Speaker
Kind of neon-y. Very fun. um And, you know, maybe in the future we'll have Undercider donut

Discussion on Arc Six of Wildbow's Ward

00:10:45
Speaker
shirts. yeah Oh, I did think did think of a ah of a new thing.
00:10:50
Speaker
A WWMYD bracelet. What would Miss Yamada do? nice That's actually sick. yeah i think we all need that after this. I that or just or pins.
00:11:03
Speaker
Pins, yeah. Pins, bracelets.
00:11:08
Speaker
That's good. To call out a couple of comments from chat. ah Fran apparently says that the donut thing may be a real thing in DC's story Kingdom Come, ah which I'm not aware of, but I it know that well enough. um That's funny.
00:11:23
Speaker
Great minds, right? yeah We're basically DC. um And then ah Bernard asks, after this arc, which members... um of the therapy group has the codenames already.
00:11:34
Speaker
ah Currently, the only ones that have been settled on, Ashley is still Damsel. They mentioned Swan Song as an idea, but she hasn't settled on it. um We have Kenzie as Look-See. um And we have um we have Capricorn, of course.
00:11:50
Speaker
And we have Kenzie called Chris Creepy Kid. um Yeah. Which i believe I believe that is the It's not official, but like it's probably going to stick is kind of how it felt.
00:12:06
Speaker
I did like that. so Yeah, I like Creepy Kid. Yeah. But yeah. Yeah, yeah so And rain is rain. so Rain is rains still rain. has a cool name.
00:12:20
Speaker
He does have a cool name.
00:12:24
Speaker
All right. Well, I think we've done enough riffing for now. We're all warmed up and ready to go. So let's dive into it. Went through arc six, sort of rounding out the um dealing with the ah the cult. ah They're escaping my head right now.
00:12:46
Speaker
The Fallen. The Fallen? The Fallen, there we go. The Fallen. It's been a long for everyone. I've been really cooked today. but All right. You look up.
00:12:58
Speaker
I'm trying to hold it together. You're doing great. You're doing great. yeah Initial impressions of the arc first? Yeah, six point you're right. Overall impressions? If we want. um They can be brief.
00:13:11
Speaker
i I appreciate that stuff is still happening. That is what I appreciate about this. is yeah It feels like stuff is happening. um Some of the fighting kind of bleeds together. However...
00:13:25
Speaker
I think the character moments that occur within that fighting are significant enough that I appreciate them. So, yes i think I think this is pretty well paced overall to keep you interested, but not so fast you lose sight of like little details because they take time to pause and talk and plan.
00:13:43
Speaker
So, I appreciate that. I feel like we covered a lot in this arc, even though... Like, it didn't feel like a lot. It didn't feel like I was drinking out of a water hose, but it still, we covered we' covered a lot of ground, you know?
00:13:57
Speaker
wrapped up the Mathers fight. We moved to, you know, headquarters, or I guess not headquarters, but we talked to some of the big names, and then, like, we're traveling across the city, and then we're over at the train station. Like, we're moving a lot this arc, but like you said, Nick, I don't feel like it was, it, like, blurred too much because of the character interactions and like these key character moments of like conversations that happen, like big V, little V loved that.
00:14:27
Speaker
Like I just, these different, these different dynamics that are happening within each of the characters interactions are just really fun. It keeps the pace up, you know?
00:14:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, i agree. I think it, uh, I, I liked, What you guys are saying about kind of carrying the action in the story kind of finally feels like we're really getting into the ah major story beats here.
00:14:52
Speaker
ah My one gripe with this arc, if this wasn't the most anime-ass chapter endings every damn chapter was,

Character Abilities and Story Impact

00:15:04
Speaker
and now it's time to get some answers.
00:15:07
Speaker
Next chapter. drop. I think it's time for someone to give us some answers. It's... Next chapter, don't tell me, tell Rain, he needs some answers. And it's just like, every time and then we get to the end of the chapter and and i couldn't help but think, i still don't really know.
00:15:24
Speaker
but on on yeah I still don't have the answers. I keep going back to that scene in early One Piece where there's like 15 episodes of the two groups facing down on each other on the top of the hill.
00:15:41
Speaker
And it's like eight episodes of them yelling back and forth, not attacking yet. It felt a little bit like that at times where I'm like, all right. Add some of those vibes. give us Give us a minute. We're ready. We're ready now. Yeah.
00:15:55
Speaker
Overall, I'm hyped for what's to come. it was a good good building arc. Yeah. Yeah. ah For sure. Yeah. um I agree with the fighting thing.
00:16:08
Speaker
Oh, sorry. Yeah. i would say with the fighting thing, i it's my biggest complaint is that a lot of this, while there is like enjoyable fights to be had and this is a holdover from worm as well uh the sequences just kind of blur together for me like the location you know i always go back to like oh he got shot on a beach like didn't even know that like i was just you know the everything just kind of blurs geographically and power wise like action is happening and until something really stands out to you it really is just a soup of words
00:16:41
Speaker
And then you're like, ah, now they're talking, so things are important. And it's like the equivalent of reading somebody looking at their phone while watching a movie. like Like, looking up, nothing is important happening. Oh, action sequence. like You know, something, they're talking. This is, I need to listen. And then back to your phone.
00:17:00
Speaker
Like, that's what it feels like reading this to me. Sometimes, yeah. get that. Your mind can kind of slip into a... into a haze as you're like reading, like fighting, fighting, fighting, blood, blood. Oh, wait. Oh, that was important.
00:17:14
Speaker
Yeah. That was too much blood. Blood, blood, broken fingers. Oh, oh. I had to double back a few times where you read something and your mind starts to wander and then you read the one line and you're like, wait a minute, that was important.
00:17:25
Speaker
Let me go back up a few paragraphs, start over. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, there was a... yeah there is a One fun comment Bernard said the answer might be a parahuman and ah it triggered a thought in me. Isn't there a superhero in Marvel or DC named the question?
00:17:44
Speaker
and The question is from DC and if you remember the answer was my original Weaver Dice character. Oh, is that the name of your character? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay.
00:17:56
Speaker
Yeah. And then Fran says, ah I kind of imagine they're in a wild west desert town every time there's a fight outside the city. i'm like yeah dumbmble way just actually I will say the fallen I'm imagining that but with a lot more mud like it's not it's not a dry western town yeah western town after a rainstorm right just mud everywhere i just I think of it as you know yeah well I think of it as like West Virginia like alan i used to work at the summer camp in the mountains of west virginia and it was like mountains and and hills and like dirt yeah paths and like an occasional pond and also when it rained it was everything was just yeah and that's kind of how i imagined it and to your point alan though with that like geographical space not really mattering everything feels flat until victoria hits a conveniently placed tree to throw somebody into
00:18:52
Speaker
It's like, oh, there was a tree there. Nowhere else, just that one. Yeah. I just assume that they're in a field until she's like, oh, yes, the ditch. And you're like, oh, the ditch is so deep. The field with ditch. They have to have stretchers across the ditch so people can go across. Like, okay, it's a trench, actually. And a very dirt road, I guess.
00:19:16
Speaker
Muddy road. Country roads. Take me home. Take me home. To the place. I belong.
00:19:26
Speaker
Don't get us copyrighted. Fallen colony. Mama Mathers. ah Oh, man. Take me home. yeah Let's get into it because I got some thoughts. 6.1. The Fallen fight continues. This is immediately after Rain kills Snag in 5.
00:19:45
Speaker
Fallen fight continues playing some Sare Whack-A-Mole. Imp and Victoria work together to take out the thinker asset Arima. March leaves. Victoria gets a bullet wound.
00:19:56
Speaker
Friends catch up, but Mama wakes up. and So. Yeah, fun continuation. Is it Sare? Sare?
00:20:08
Speaker
Sare? sayer I've been saying Sare. Sare? Yeah. Chat, correct us. I believe. Yeah, someone tell us what it is. I feel like it's. been saying Sare.
00:20:19
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know.

Character Dynamics and Relationships

00:20:21
Speaker
I know it's the Assyrian, like, I remember right, like, mob of Assyrian horsemen, essentially. If I remember right. The is what it might be in Hebrew. I was about to say, if it's a R. Okay.
00:20:39
Speaker
You know what? And I'll follow up on this. He ain't pronouncing that shit. It's pronounced Sair. Sair. My name is Sair. I'm a member of the Father. Is he Deer or is he Sayer?
00:20:54
Speaker
You know, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Sair. Sair. Sair. It's just Mr. Sir from Holes. Mr. Sir. Mr. Sir. Yep.
00:21:08
Speaker
um He has a neat power. I always hate when these cool powers are tied to just the worst people you know. Why? why are just the worst people have the coolest powers? Fans of the first podcast will know what I mean by that.
00:21:20
Speaker
Well, Nick, that's because we know who your favorite cape is. Like, we know. yeah Favorite power, not favorite cape. ah tell Tell us why you love this one, Nick Coyle.
00:21:33
Speaker
Yeah, tell us about this one, So, no, this one, I mean, it's just a cool power. The ability you make... it's Okay, so it's... um For my anime fans, it's Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu, except he can replace himself with any of his Shadow Clones.
00:21:49
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. That is sick. He can swap out. Honestly, just better Oni Lee, right? It is kind of better Oni Lee. It kind of is. Is it the...
00:22:01
Speaker
Correct me if I'm wrong. Is it in this chapter or the chapter before where we have the person who has to like switch? Was that in the arc before or isn't that this one? No, that's this one. Okay, okay.
00:22:14
Speaker
I think that's coming up. if i Okay, you know what I'm talking about. I think so, yeah. i But it is is crazy that they're able do powers like that. yes, yes, yes, yes. I know what you mean. ah His is kind of also like Spree, except his clones don't get dumb.
00:22:27
Speaker
um Yeah. Oni Lee is also the one where he just gets dumber every time. Yeah, he just gets stupider, unfortunately. For a guy. leaves a piece of himself behind. Oh, man.
00:22:40
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, um that's... Yeah, the the power is really cool. Very annoying, of course. And combined it with Arima, this thinker asset who's giving him these enhanced senses and danger sets. Right. um That was cool. So he's even more capable than normal.
00:22:56
Speaker
um So it may not be totally him doing it. I'll give Arima some credit for actually making it functional. He might be a total dumbass. don't know.
00:23:05
Speaker
Probably. Well, I mean, i i like them. Anytime you have two powers like that that can work together and that can like play off each other is cool to see. I mean, I'd much prefer it to be on the hero side than the fallen side, but ah I like that. Anytime you have like two powers that can...
00:23:25
Speaker
make each other better is really fun. Like, freaking Assault and Battery. Like, Assault and Battery yeah working together was super cool. And I just, I like that. It's fun and creative. Yeah, for sure.
00:23:39
Speaker
Like Capricorn Capricorn. Like Capricorn and Capricorn. Exactly. My favorite cape on the team. Yeah. um Or like Imp and Victoria working together without Victoria knowing.
00:23:50
Speaker
yeah That was fun. I will say anytime Imp jumps out and people are like, oh, it just, it warms the cockles of my heart. Like it just makes me happy.
00:24:02
Speaker
Anytime we get to work with the Undersiders, I'm a happy little ducky. Like, let's go. but yeah attack Another point in the Imp is secretly the strongest cape in the universe column, though. yeah Every time she pops up, I'm just like, she's she's stronger than she could kill anybody.
00:24:18
Speaker
Anybody she wants. It's crazy. yeah It's great. Yeah, yeah for sure. Although, didn't we see... um Did we see Ser when Arima gave him her power? Did we see that he could see her? I can't remember if she was in that fight at all.
00:24:35
Speaker
Or does she only pop up after they take out Arima? I think it was after they take out Arima because... I was wondering if the danger sense would apply to any of that. Because she did say, like, thanks for distracting her.
00:24:49
Speaker
There's also some power seized through her. So I can't remember which one it was. ah Yeah. and she She does remark that there's a power that seized through her, you know, invisibility for all purposes. Yeah. Right, right.
00:25:05
Speaker
ah She's in the car and Victoria. Yes. Wrenches through the roof. Yeah. Victoria breaks the roof off and then empties

Victoria's Injury and Character Resilience

00:25:13
Speaker
her. Love it. I remember lo it. I love it so much. This is so good.
00:25:18
Speaker
Yeah. um Yeah. Good teamwork. Victoria does get shot. ah That's rough. Yeah. Kind of sucks. Yeah. Well, I mean, like, look, the wretch is doing her job.
00:25:30
Speaker
She's got a lot going on. The wretch is retching. ah And you know, sometimes a bullet sneaks through and gets lodges in your shoulder, arm. I was going to go up. It's like,
00:25:43
Speaker
appendix? No, it's in her arm. It's bitan yeah yeah and one of her biceps, I think. Yeah, because it messes up with her.
00:25:54
Speaker
Sounds like the worst place to get it. No, I was just saying sounds like one of the worst. I mean, just getting shot anywhere, let's be honest. yeah like i I do really like the way that she describes it, though, because she she she talks about it like it's a... she For a second, she says, um i feel like It was a like it was I'd get gotten hit by a black hole or something like everything felt like it was sucking in. And then the pain hit and she realized, oh, I've just been shot.
00:26:21
Speaker
But like that moment of like, what does a gunshot wound feel like of like that, like burning sensation first before the pain hits you of like, oh, my gosh, what is happening? And then you look down. It's like, oh, yes, I've been shot by the stupid guns.
00:26:39
Speaker
at Fran and Chad, I had the exact same thought. I was like, man, if only they had somebody who could make them really nice bullet resistant spider silk suits. but She's gone.
00:26:52
Speaker
She's gone. She's gone. Seriously, though, like Weaver as a costume designer, like a freelance costume designer, that also would have been a great story. It would have made so much bank. Yeah, 2 plus 4, you're right in chat.
00:27:05
Speaker
To be fair, I'd rather be shot in the arm than in the torso. That's true. That's true. Yeah. you know Immediately, I'm like, okay, take back what I said. Getting shot anywhere else probably would be worse in the arm. don't want get But...
00:27:16
Speaker
Right. Anything with a ball joint, I feel like it's just a bad time for everybody. It's like in the knee, in the shoulder socket, like any joint is going to be the worst.
00:27:28
Speaker
The knee would be. Yeah. Anyways, meditations on getting shot by people who've never been shot before. Continuing. Right. We're all like, yes. You know. I i remember.
00:27:43
Speaker
See, I got shot with an airsoft gun once and it hurt really bad. we I got shot would by a paintball gun on my stomach. I've been shot by a paintball gun too, yeah. Man. Got shot.
00:27:53
Speaker
Where did i get shot? I got shot in the head with a paintball gun. That wasn't fun. In the head? Where was your helmet, Nick? This is why we wear protective armor when we fight the fallen. What? You just had goggles on for paintball?
00:28:05
Speaker
Who only paintballs and goggles? No, no. Oh my gosh. I almost doxed you and made fun of your state, but man, that's hilarious. that's all right. It's okay. How long ago was this? I went playing paintball with redneck. Did this cause brain damage?
00:28:21
Speaker
No, it was a really long shot. It made all his hair fall off. such a fan of Empire ADH? yeah i'm not hang on wow wow wow yeah this i will not stand for this slander in you' goingnna go for the eating the paint off the paintballs <unk> ah great and moving on award said that one time they got stung by a portuguese manawa jellyfish and i've heard those
00:28:53
Speaker
the yes Oh no. I've heard like worst pain imaginable. Glad you're still with us. Although I will say what I've had i've as somebody I knew that did a lot of diving and has got hit by a lot of those type of stuff um and has been shot ah getting hit with a stingray they said was the worst pain that they'd ever felt in their life.
00:29:15
Speaker
ah Didn't even get a terrible bullet wound. this is why I don't go in the ocean. Yeah. There's no need. I'm fine. like that nothing hack in There's a reason that I can't breathe underwater.
00:29:27
Speaker
I was never meant to go in it. So I look at it from a distance and I go, um respect you, Ocean. That's cool. I did always wonder. was like, I suspect one of my friends might be a mermaid. It could be Hannah, but I'm just not sure. So thank you for. Here's the thing. I'm one of those like mermaids that only is a chlorine. You're a land. More of a land made, you might say. yeah I'm a a landlocked land made. Yes, I'm a land made.
00:29:55
Speaker
No, ah chlorine. is my water of choice thank you very much better i'd like to get the 13 situation where you had that opportunity to embrace your mother's like your true mother's heritage but because you didn't get in the water you end up getting stuck in your human form for the rest of your life okay ah yeah a reverse aerial sure

Mama Mathers' Influence and Strategies Against the Fallen

00:30:17
Speaker
yeah we've all seen 13 come on no no One of the best mermaid teen movies of all time. You I'm going to have to take your word for it.
00:30:28
Speaker
I just looked up um that apparently there's a pain scale. It's called the sh Schmidt Sting Pain Index. And the only thing... One of the only things worse is a bullet ant than a... Oh my gosh. You mean Taylor Hebert's favorite bug? Yeah. I've got to imagine that and then there's that one plant.
00:30:55
Speaker
and it worse the jellyishish plant There's that one plant in Australia that makes you want to kill yourself. I haven't, I'm not looking at a full list. I just wanted to know specifically bullet ant versus the man of war jellyfish. And apparently it's worse than the jellyfish, but we have to read the comment. some Somebody read, read the comment that he just wrote. ah Two plus four. That sting burned with the flames of 18 hells. It was the number one most painful thing I've ever experienced.
00:31:23
Speaker
yeah i was on the beach i was poking it with a stick and i was eight years old. You were eight years old. And that's why we were all hoping to be an eight-year-old. Like murdered by a sea jelly. Oh, no. went onto that beach a child. You came out of that beach an adult. Nearly dead. a war hero. Having suffered.
00:31:45
Speaker
um that is rough no a quick quick story with michael time my dad um spent significant part of his life in the amazon jungles and was out camping with his friends as a kid and accidentally set up camp in a bullet ant nest oh no no don no no nope nope and he got stung like At least a dozen times before he knew what was happening. he immediately got a fever.
00:32:19
Speaker
and yeah they're camping very far from home so he had to walk home with the fever crying and just like almost it was the worst thing he's ever happened to him apparently the body telling you to die well yeah yeah yeah it's like not gonna kill you but holy crap he said it was the most painful thing he was with all the bunch of he was like the youngest person in the group of older like Boys and they're all like it's okay to cry man and he's like thanks and then he started crying Because he can't wait he was trying to like he's trying to like muscle it up he's like like 12 bullet ants and didn't cry Social pressure passed out. I would have been like I'm good
00:33:03
Speaker
Yeah. They were like, it's okay to cry, man. And then he's like, thanks. How old was he? I don't know, but he was, ah I think middle school maybe. But yeah. That's awesome. Middle school?
00:33:15
Speaker
Oh my gosh. um like Funny. That's awesome. Funny story now. Geez wheeze. Yeah. We laugh and we cry. Crazy that i Taylor, i i got really, yeah, the fact that Taylor uses them is awesome.
00:33:31
Speaker
Or used, that yeah, in worm. Yeah, that's, it's a little bit more sussy now that I know how painful they are. Yeah, they they that's what they call bullen ants. I mean, yeah. I do feel like when you're when you're in a world with like literal dragons and gravity-defined monsters, a bad ant bite may be the best weapon you got. You got to use what you got. yeah Yeah. Although, it does make me wonder. like Taylor uses a lot of the capsaicin-dipped bugs and such. And like the Black Widows. She loves using the Black Widows.
00:34:07
Speaker
i um get your dick off I don't I just like i don't even like saying it. um and And it just like it makes me think about but like she holds in reserve the bullet ants and she uses the bullet ants on those guys who had who hadn't like gone in as squatters when when Bracky was being rebuilt. Like that's who she used the bullet ants on.
00:34:34
Speaker
Not long yeah But these random squatters who are being difficult and like stealing people's shit. Yeah. Right. She's like, you? Lowest of the low. Bullet ants. That's hilarious.
00:34:46
Speaker
What the heck? All right. On that note, anything else in 6.1? Sorry. no Last thing is just at the end, that the the great creepy moment of the like, oh, rain. Oh, creepy. Right at the end. And you're like, no.
00:35:02
Speaker
Mama Mathers gives me nightmares. Yeah, she's not great. She's horrid. I keep making reference ah for Mama Mathers. the Has anyone else... we talk about this? Has anyone seen The Leftovers?
00:35:15
Speaker
No. Yes, we have talked about this. No, none of us have still not seen The Leftovers except you. Eerie similarities between Mama Mathers and the head of the cult in that movie.
00:35:27
Speaker
um More similar than you'd think, and I don't want to spoil anything, but it's like... It's fantastic. And I forget the actress's name. Fantastic actress in that show. But like just the visceral image of a cult leader whispering in your ear no matter where you are is so hauntingly is similar. And it gives me the yeah the creeps. I still haven't finished Leftovers. It's hard to watch. Is it a show? yeah a show It's done. at three Three seasons and done.
00:35:57
Speaker
but the at Wrap up or just to get continued? it ah but no one It wrapped up, what I understand. i'll finish I love a good preseason done. I was going to say Jacob, I will watch it for you.
00:36:09
Speaker
Thank you. I do need the other people to watch it. 6.2. Yeah, keep it moving. Mama is free and everyone finds their own solution to the problem.
00:36:22
Speaker
Fighting shifts to containment. ah Rachel recognizes Chris. The Wardens pull out and Victoria 6 looks-y on Tattletail.
00:36:33
Speaker
The look-see Tattletail battle is really fun. Oh, yes. I feel like Tattletail has met an annoying match. Like, not an actual match to her mind, but, like, the annoying level of, like, it actually bothering her, which I love.
00:36:51
Speaker
It's the the little mosquito buzzing around your head that you cannot get rid of. Yeah. Go, Kenzie. Yeah. Tease in chat. Tease in chat. We got a tattletale. Hey. Hey. Tease in chat.
00:37:02
Speaker
Tattletale.
00:37:06
Speaker
um and This is part of the section that starts to kind of bleed together, so I can't remember the exact identifiers. I will say, identify is this is this where Is it this part where um the guy steps out of the woods and he's like talking to them as Mama Mathers?
00:37:25
Speaker
Yes. And he's like, he wants to have a deal. Like, give us rain and we'll give you Aaron. Yep. Yeah. Yep. Okay. This is... ah Exactly. yeah like Yeah, like you said, this is one of those chapters where everything kind of blurs together. Because Look-See drops the camera on Mama Mather's head. Yes, just the yeah right high in the sky. yeah That's in 6.3. Is that 6.3? Sorry about that. My bad. My 6.2 notes are it blinding um Rachel is the best. Look at her go. She's training Imp. She's thanking people.
00:38:01
Speaker
Yeah. Like she is she the responsible one that keeps them all together? Maybe. yeah Like she could be at this point. So like OG undersiders too. Yeah. Like could be the glue. Yeah.
00:38:15
Speaker
Oh my gosh. She's so good. um And then. the girl ah I'm trying to think. yeah I think also any theories on how she knows Chris.
00:38:27
Speaker
Yeah, was hoping we would talk about this. Right. Yeah. So she says, and and Rachel, I feel, tends to be a fairly blunt person. She says, oh I've seen a video of him.
00:38:42
Speaker
Yeah. um Yeah. And he's worried about it. He instantly is like, I'm on video. Like, he is upset. Yeah. And Imp is like, well, give me more information. like Tell me more. And she's like, no, it's not a big deal. like I just recognized him from a video. like it's Right.
00:38:57
Speaker
And I feel like Rachel was trying to pass it off as not a big deal. But for Chris, it is a big deal for some reason. Yeah. I guess the question would be like, what is the video? Yeah. What is the video? That's the question.
00:39:11
Speaker
Jacob, please. My only thought was like, there was a reason he's in the therapy group and we don't know yet. He's an orphan. just thought it was because he was an asshole. 13-year-old asshole.
00:39:26
Speaker
thirteen year old a Yeah. I have a theory, but it connects to something later. ah can I talk about it now or should I wait? Yeah, sure. I mean, we're talking about connecting theories. mean We've all read all six anyway, so.
00:39:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, so with... So because he was like so worried about being on video and being like specifically recognized on video, because we've seen that he has these different like monstrous forms that he takes on and they have names, like they have these different personas and these different like traits that he pulls and whatever.
00:40:00
Speaker
So like basic assumption that one of these creatures is on, was on video somewhere. I was thinking about this later when he opens up the fanny pack and he has all of these medical supplies.
00:40:14
Speaker
And he says something about, um yeah, one time when I went to transform back, I just came apart. And I instantly was like thinking about the broken triggers, like when the giant tree exploded from the dude's face.
00:40:32
Speaker
And this idea that like the trigger or ah not the trigger, the power just breaks you apart instead of being cohesive and you functioning within it and you using the power whatever.

Character Backgrounds and Theories

00:40:47
Speaker
But that it breaks you and that he's so so like he's so protective of those medical supplies because he doesn't want to have to you know use them, but he wants them in case.
00:40:58
Speaker
And so like there's this kind of feeling where I'm like, what if the video that she's seen him in was one of these creatures that he had.
00:41:09
Speaker
Ben, he's like putting distance between, you know? Like, because I'm still convinced that Chris is the problem in the group. like Like, look, look, see is obviously, you know, problematic.
00:41:23
Speaker
I'm very excited about family dinner, by the way. ah But with, with him, I feel like there's just so much he's not saying. And like, he even said, I can only transform twice, but it doesn't feel like that's necessarily true. And I don't know if he's like,
00:41:39
Speaker
purposefully leaving out information to the group. And he's like sneaking off during this whole fight, getting into other things, which ended up being fine. But like, there's so much weirdness and secrecy around him that I feel like maybe somehow it's connected to a ah broken trigger thing.
00:41:57
Speaker
Maybe he figured out maybe how to work through his broken trigger. And then... This is what we have now because of it. Him being able to transform to these weird things. like That's not a bad theory. it's it To add to that, that makes me think maybe it's something like the video is a form he... Maybe it's like the first form he turned into.
00:42:17
Speaker
Right, when right, right. When he triggered, he like killed a bunch of people or did something terrible. And that's on video, but he didn't know it was on video. Right. But, you know, PRT is a kid. yeah he doesn't and Maybe that's a form he just doesn't use anymore.
00:42:32
Speaker
That's what I was thinking. i was back Yeah, exactly. yeah yeah yeah I don't think it's killing a bunch of people because he would be fine with that, clearly. think the real answer is there was just something embarrassing and it's the equivalent of ah Avengers Endgame Hulk.
00:42:50
Speaker
Like Bruce Banner looking at the Hulk and being like, oh my gosh, don't look. I can't believe that's what I used to look like. Right. Yeah, just a shame. Yeah.
00:43:01
Speaker
Yeah. He does, Chris ah does get my, one of several of my favorite quotes of the whole arc, which I think is in 6.2, which was, I was also shot, but nobody seemed to care. Yeah. Yeah. He just like absorbed the bullet.
00:43:15
Speaker
Yeah. yeah another but he just like absorbed ah bullock He was shot while he was in, i forget the form name. ah The curly one.
00:43:25
Speaker
The curly bird spiral. The banana. The banana crow. The backwards banana boy. The backwards banana boy. Banana boy. He was shot a few times. but But he does he's fine. He walked it off. Nobody cared, apparently. Yeah, he walked it off.
00:43:43
Speaker
Yeah. yeah yeah um Oh, I will say real quick for 6.2, this is where the wardens are kind of like, okay, we're going start pulling out, like, move towards containment. Victoria's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fine, but we're going to move in and try to, like, actually still take out the fallen. Yeah, yeah we're going to actually try and do our fucking jobs here. Do our jobs. Yeah. yeah Yeah, yeah. 6.3, heroes try a containment retreat and planning. Capricorn and Vista gets hold off by Narwhal.
00:44:10
Speaker
Vista crushes on Tristan. Oh. Fallen in try negotiations in bad faith and mama gets comma kinsied. Yes. yeah Yes, yes, yes, yes. That's that's where that is.
00:44:21
Speaker
so Yeah, so this was a i this was a funny scene where it was kind of like,

Relationship Dynamics and Character Development

00:44:27
Speaker
because this is also where um Victoria talks to Vista about Capricorn. She's like,
00:44:32
Speaker
look, you made have a thing for unattainable men in big armor. She was so blunt. She was like, look. She said something really like... It was pretty funny. I was like, what?
00:44:46
Speaker
I totally expected her to say something. like I expected her to be like, hey, look, he's in a ah complicated situation also. not into girls like I'm sure she doesn't say that she's like said and don't think you're her type youre you're his type and he'll tell you soon enough why it's not my place but yeah Victoria says you you have a thing for unattainable guys in heavy armor and vi Vista says dead son of a cunt I might actually oh
00:45:14
Speaker
It's so good. It's so good. I love it. big I just have written down. It's just amazing. Vista, denial is a river in Egypt. each Your love interest is gay.
00:45:27
Speaker
It feels so bad though, because like I also have a huge crush on Tristan. like Tristan's fantastic. I love the Capricorn duo in general. I can't wait till so we see more of of Byron, but like get it. like He's in armor.
00:45:41
Speaker
He's hot. He's cool. He's got a cool power. Tristan's the funny one. He's like the charming... He's funny. He's got charisma. The boy rolls high in charisma.
00:45:51
Speaker
Oh, poor Vista. She just has bad luck. And Vista's just at that age where she's just so corny. yeah
00:46:02
Speaker
It is weird because in my mind, she's still worm age. It's still 13-year-old Vista. I gotta mentally like age her up a bit. She's 17 now. I do love but naral a mom moming her Yes.
00:46:17
Speaker
Narwhal's still loving her though. like You should know better. Yeah, because Narwhal is her direct supervisor, right? Yeah. Yeah. yeah yeah Yeah.
00:46:28
Speaker
More Narwhal. Oh, I'm sorry, Jacob. What'd you say? No, ah just more Narwhal's always good. more Love seeing Narwhal. As Fran says, considering Vista had a crush on her dead boyfriend, her dynamic with Victoria is pretty fun.
00:46:44
Speaker
Yeah, that's... Yeah. like Well, Dean's dead now. So. Yeah. Well, like the situation with them, you know, is very comparable to Amy. um Yeah. Like it's and Amy, you know, Victoria and Amy did not have a like great conversation because Amy, Victoria thought that Amy might be in love with her boyfriend yeah and that know kind of didn't get talked about and even when dean brought it up is like there are complicated emotions towards me and i'm not quite sure like i think i know what they are and she's like mind your own business basically and yeah um vista though was kind of i mean she's a little kid but you very you know like like you know like
00:47:35
Speaker
we know like you have a crush on him and she's like, man, like, oh, well. like it's a little kid crush. Like she's 13. And she knows too. Like she's like, can't I just have that? Like, ah like can I just have this?
00:47:49
Speaker
Thank you. Let me just have my crush. yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I know, you know, and so I think, you know, and we saw their dynamic back when ah after the Leviathan fight where they're taking like the college courses and like,
00:48:01
Speaker
right They're talking in the hallway with Clockblocker and everything. And like, yeah. Oh, Clockblocker. You know, and Vicky already had a ah weirdly good relationship for people that weren't, you know, necessarily working on the same team all the time. They just, you know, they worked together a lot. Yeah.
00:48:19
Speaker
and And with that interlude, yeah, with that interlude to after Dean's death, um there's... I think there's that feeling where Victoria is like, Vista may be the only one who really understands how I feel like ironically.
00:48:33
Speaker
um Yeah. And not because it wasn't, it was a childhood crush, but in terms of somebody being sort of your idol, you know, like Dean was that, you know, Victoria's talked about that in this already too. Like Dean sort of was on that pedestal for her too, in a way, and you know, their relationship was so important to her. So it,
00:48:53
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. He was also a good relationship. Yeah. He was like a team leader and like losing him. and there's the whole um emotion thing as well. like we I think we talked about with Wyrm was that just like being around him, you couldn't help but, you know, yeah love him. Yeah.
00:49:12
Speaker
Even like platonically, like he was just a good guy and... yeah ah Yeah. You guys remember Aegis? Anyways, moving on. um Who even does, right?
00:49:27
Speaker
Anyways. um Yeah, so I do love this scene, though. I think this is where the guy comes out of the woods and is like, hey we'll give you Aaron if you give us rain. And then all the Fallen start freaking out and they don't know why. And it's because a camera got dropped on Mama Mather's.
00:49:41
Speaker
yeah I love it. It's like it just like touch under out horse blood pouring down her face. Yeah. mean, I mean, look here, we know Kenzie's cameras are are blocky oh yeah as hell. but life with a regular boxes and Exactly. I mean, if you got hit with a regular DSLR, that bad cause, you know, that make you bleed. But like,
00:50:06
Speaker
a giant box floating in the sky just bam out of nowhere also if it's it's high enough yeah but like they didn't know it was there and then it comes full hurtling down out of space like she is Yeah. It's amazing she didn't die.
00:50:25
Speaker
And the implication being before this, like Mama Mather's planned for everything is apparently immune to sedation or you know, something like that or has a cape nearby that helps whatever

Neutralizing Threats and Strategic Efforts

00:50:38
Speaker
it was.
00:50:38
Speaker
So the the whole thought of like, can't even but knock me out. I'm immune to anything. Not a immune to gravity. like it's you know Yeah. Yeah. So good. Simple, but effective. Yeah. Very effective. Clear something in chat.
00:50:56
Speaker
if Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Aegis was team lead. He was about to age out or graduate. um Dean was going to be the next in line for barely any time at all.
00:51:10
Speaker
And then Clockblocker, you know, because maybe we're looking at semesters here. So Clockblocker is going to take over for the next semester at best. And Clockblocker is like, and then I'm going to age out. So it's like, I'm not even team lead for that long. And neither of you. So like, what does it even matter?
00:51:24
Speaker
um that's That's right. i Yeah, they were. yeah But then it just happened. Gallant Aegis both died in the Leviathan fight. So it went to Clockblocker. every who been got I was going to say, then Clockblocker didn't even get that.
00:51:39
Speaker
And Clockblocker still didn't get it. because it went we i forgot yeah yeah okay but yeah I don't think Clark Glocker wanted to be team lead anyway. like That wasn't his vibe. That wasn't his vibe. Not his, no. No, no, no.
00:51:52
Speaker
ah But yeah, so Mama Mathers is, ah you know, i would just presume dead. based on you know how big we know her i mean hammer technology to be so uh you know they carry did they carry her out of the woods or did she walk out of the woods yeah no they carry her out of the woods yeah she's not walking yeah they carry her blood everywhere her neck is broken Her head is a jello puddle.
00:52:18
Speaker
No, no, no, no, no. Her brain is too. No, no, she's not, she's not broken. She's just severely damaged. Okay, hear me This is like an imp situation where like her power continues on, but it's just, you just see her dead body in the corner as your vision all the time.
00:52:37
Speaker
No. Oh god. Oh my god. Yeah. Oh that Just knock the fuck out. Like brutal. Oh no I'm smelling it. Like oh no I've smelled the dead body once. I'm going to smell it for as long as that power lasts.
00:52:53
Speaker
No. That'd be the worst. No. Gratefully for everybody involved her power disconnects when she gets unconscious. Thank goodness. yeah But even then, even after they get her contained though, they're still worried about her waking up so they have a phasing out power. ah like Somebody's like phasing her between dimensions basically so she's not... They her in like a coffin thing?
00:53:19
Speaker
they have her Yeah, they have her they and have her in a Capricorn coffin. Capricorn stone coffin. With another Capricorn coffin. There you Yeah. um You know, and yeah, there we go.
00:53:34
Speaker
Yeah. Which is smart, the whole phasing and everything. Yeah, they're even like, and we know this isn't permanent because when she phases back in, she has a momentary grasp of everybody, but then is phased out again.
00:53:46
Speaker
So it's like, it's the best they can do. It's crazy. They just need to punt her into a dimension. I mean, which is the planet like slowly feel that got the cancer...
00:53:59
Speaker
Radiation. The original one. EarthBet. I was going to say, was that? Damn it. We can't have nice things. EarthBet's just fucked. Yeah, EarthBet is so fucked. They've got the cancer. They've got the spores spreading the disease. They've got the machine army on the edge of things. Yep.
00:54:15
Speaker
um Yeah, that's all EarthBet. It's all... it's it's an EarthBet is just gone, so... Bad place. Bad place. um Yeah, so... That was fun.
00:54:27
Speaker
Um... trying to think. i I don't think too much more happened. I was going to say, when we got 6.4, I know more stuff starts to happen. I'll be honest, I don't have another note until 6.6, so.
00:54:40
Speaker
We got nine of these, so there's a few ah crossover. Yeah, yeah. Well, we can, I mean, I have more thoughts and different things. To answer your question in chat, it's not Scapegoat's power that's phasing it out. It's somebody else, but I don't remember. It might be unmentioned. they just they did talk i say I don't think they made a name. and ah No, there was there was a name. I remember there was a name solely because um it was Capricorn, Vista, and this third hero walking together carrying her back.
00:55:13
Speaker
I don't remember what their name was. so is Does it start with an S or a C maybe? thought it was an A. Like Schism or something? Something like that, maybe. has I'm sure chat will let us know. Figure it out, chat.
00:55:29
Speaker
Tell us. 6.4. William Doe just says Mama Mathers in the corner in the Family Guy death post forever. Alright, 6.4.
00:55:41
Speaker
Victoria and Ashley unload their frustrations on the Fallen, meeting Bomet's beasts. Mama is recaptured in Tattletale Talks. Rain and Sveta need rescuing.
00:55:52
Speaker
Okay, so 6.4 where they... Oh, my gosh. Completely forgot about that. Holy macaroni. There's so much stuff that happens. Jeez. Yeah, a lot does happen.
00:56:05
Speaker
Okay. What was the first part of that again? think we talked about... ah think this is when everything yeah Victoria and Ashley, this is where Victoria fights that one cape who has that shadow power you were mentioning, Alan. That's what it is. There we go.
00:56:21
Speaker
Where one of them becomes immovable stone type object right and switches with it but can't move both of them. So you got an ultimate, you know, an ultimate Frisbee situation going on. Yeah.
00:56:35
Speaker
Honestly, for as much as I'm not remembering it, I do remember liking that fight, just the mechanics of it I thought was was interesting. Yeah, for sure. And ultimately ends up because Ashley just goes, are you if I blow this apart, are you going to die? And they're like,
00:56:52
Speaker
but You can't blow it apart. Okay. Boom. yeah Oh! Yeah. But this is also where, because, so, after the whole Beast of Burden situation, Ashley has turned herself into Gilpatrick.
00:57:09
Speaker
And so she asks Gilpatrick, or Pa-ra-ra-ra-ra. She asks Gilpatrick if she can, like, is she cleared to, like, join the fight and help Victoria? Yeah.
00:57:21
Speaker
which I think is cool. Like, I feel like after everything that happened with Damsel and and us being like, but the whole like foot on the head thing, like that was just cold blooded.
00:57:32
Speaker
i feel like her behavior now just proves like how, how much she's trying to do the right thing. She's trying to it It makes it it, like, to me, it convinces me that that whole thing was an act.
00:57:48
Speaker
Like, with with Beast of Burden. Oh, yeah, 100%. She was playing out to the big villain thing in front of the other bozos. I can't remember their names. ah That was the bozos.
00:58:00
Speaker
Yeah, and then that she turned herself that in and was like, yeah, I fucked up. i I majorly fucked up, and I'm gonna do whatever you tell me to do. Which i and respect her so much because of that.
00:58:12
Speaker
Like... Yeah, I think I like Ashley more and more every time we interact with her. No, I think it's really good character writing because like you kind of get the sense that that's what it is early on.
00:58:26
Speaker
Just kind of the her attitude and everything. You're like, okay, you're kind you're probably a softie, right? But like she's she' is also messed up and that's very obvious. And she's got that whole, to quote the Joker, it's like a dog chasing cars.
00:58:39
Speaker
Doesn't know what with one until she catches it. And then she does and kills somebody and as um immediately does the 180. And like so far since that has been, oh yes, I do have the power to kill people.
00:58:53
Speaker
And I don't like that. And it took killing someone to figure that out. But like I don't think we're all... she's not She's not the problem in the group. and you know That's not... right Oh, absolutely.
00:59:05
Speaker
yeah and It might be 6.4. It might not be. But I think this is also where she's like, hey... um I'm probably going to go to jail for killing Bob, at least for a bit.
00:59:16
Speaker
If I do, can you make sure that, like, please take care of Kenzie for me. Take care of Kenzie. And it's kind of like Victoria's like, it might be later, but it's like Victoria's kind of thinking, kind thought Kenzie was taking care of you, but maybe it's kind of both and, you know, kind of taking care other.
00:59:33
Speaker
that 6.6? Okay, yeah. Okay. We'll get there. It's so good. Yeah. Good fight. it ah Vomit is a weirdo. Kind of reminds me of Bonesaw.
00:59:46
Speaker
I don't like that. Yeah. The weird. Is this the weird animal thing? Yeah. It mixes up human and animal bodies. There's like a horse with a human face. oh yeah. No, man.
00:59:58
Speaker
That's weird.
01:00:01
Speaker
No. Yeah. a it Very Fullmetal Alchemist Chimera vibes and not great. I wasn't going to just spell it out, but yeah, you know. Fullmetal. Yeah. That's the vibe. Because they're like, you know, full don't don't necessarily kill them if you don't have to. There is something human in there.
01:00:16
Speaker
and was like, so and oh, you Don't say that. Don't tell me that. yeah Well, it makes me wonder if

Unsettling Creations and Emotional Tension

01:00:24
Speaker
he's like... ro Because like later, I think it's in the next chapter, when they go and there's like all the animal pieces just everywhere. like yeah he He literally he pulled a bone saw and he just kind of like...
01:00:38
Speaker
yeah Yeah. I wish that could make a squelchier sound when I did that, but I don't. yeah How about a soul bond? How about a quick soul bond?
01:00:50
Speaker
More like a flesh bond in this way. Yeah. Gross. Gross, gross, gross, gross. You like your dog? You want to be closer to your dog than you've ever been before? Ciao, Tucker, no.
01:01:07
Speaker
Okay, biden know side note, Shal Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist. I think I i sent you guys this, but it was this guy who was saying like, all right, listen, Shal Tucker is a hero. You want to know why? You want to get cat girls and dog girls?
01:01:22
Speaker
He was trying to get us there. No. He was a pioneer. ah here A hero to some, maybe, but not to me. Oh, God. You want cute anime cat girls with cat ears and tails?
01:01:37
Speaker
You got to get there somehow. That is not what he created. that was a weird missing link kind of scenario. That's the point, though. He was trying. listen to you on the We didn't land on the moon with Apollo 1. That's right. Some people just don't understand science. Damn, Jacob.
01:01:56
Speaker
um we're losing We're losing the chat. Let's not go off. Losing the chat. Oh, sorry, guys. Yeah, so... ah Mama gets recaptured.
01:02:08
Speaker
Tattletail tells them where Rain and Sveta are, and they're like, ah we gotta go. We gotta save them. yeah
01:02:16
Speaker
So... Speaking of, like, anime chapter endings, these chapters all did feel like... yeah cliffhanger next time on ward yeah absolutely will they get to rain and sveta in time i mean i was listening and that's his he does that i was listening to the audio it was even more of that because it like it ends the chapter the music picks up and the narrator rain the narrator is like is like and you this this has been a production of war and you're like what skip the next episode that's hilarious yeah skip through the intro I want to know what happened I love it yeah speaking of what happened 6.5 yeah 6.5 big rain badly injured to put it lightly
01:03:08
Speaker
First aid attempts during a grudge discussion. Cradle and um Operator Red attack. Cradle feels seriously violated but still gets captured. Tattletail negotiation. Rain is healed by the fallen scapegoat.
01:03:24
Speaker
Hmm. Yeah. yeah or a twist Yeah, that was interesting. And scapegoat before. yeah this is Yes. Yes. It's popped up a few times.
01:03:34
Speaker
Scapegoat's the, you're blind? He's the one who's like, we're blind? Yeah. yeah We mentioned them as a phasing healer ah earlier before. Like, yeah, we've got a phasing healer around. yeah Oh, yeah. Right, right.
01:03:46
Speaker
this was This was probably the my favorite fight of the of the arc because I think it went back to kind of the, we were talking about earlier episodes ago where Wild Bo's best when his fights are character-focused and they're and they're you know telling character stories through fight.
01:04:05
Speaker
And this one just felt really personal. like Victoria really wanted to hurt Cradle, you could tell. Yeah. As did everybody. And just seeing Rain basically dead at that point, Sveta's hurt, you know just like...
01:04:21
Speaker
It was, it it was a real, that what the emotions were high in the fight and that really, that really helped. Plus going to sound really cool. Yeah. is to sound a little odd and maybe it's because I just watched a VFX thing on this, but the vibe I kind of got is, you know, they're in this like barn essentially and, you know, come in, he's all wounded and really wants to, Victoria really wants to, you know, kill Cradle.
01:04:47
Speaker
cradle. um And because of the limbs, I'm imagining very much sort of the abandoned warehouse on the pier from Spider-Man 2 with Doc Ock and his arms versus Spider-Man. He's like, oh, you couldn't have Mary Jane. I'm gonna kill you. Yep.
01:05:05
Speaker
al
01:05:08
Speaker
Oof. there No, i i I liked seeing... I've enjoyed seeing this cluster trigger get to show off each of their own powers and how yeah powerful they are.
01:05:19
Speaker
yeah It's like Snag had the mover power, right? Just like dropping up and down, left and right, however he wanted. Yeah, the gravity shift. Yeah, yeah. Rain has the lasers. Yeah, which his version of that, you Rain has the ability to just stop momentum.
01:05:33
Speaker
Mm-hmm. And his seems to be the ability to not fall off of his giant hand things. Because they're like, they feel like what like hands on top of hands kind of yeah moving around.
01:05:48
Speaker
He stands on the back of the hand. He doesn't even stand like in the palm. He stands back of it. It's like a Metsu made of hands is how I'm imagining From what I gather, there's time for like the fingers are up though. Because he's like, talking about him like swinging and like holding on to a finger yeah while the hand is doing its thing. So like ah they're bending backwards at the very least, if not like are multi-sided.
01:06:16
Speaker
Yeah. i I pictured it kind of like a Cirque Soleil act where the guys are like, you know, the giant things are spinning and they're kind of just running around them and staying on top of the, basically that where you've got all these moving fingers and limbs and and arms, whatever he's got sort of moving around and he's just literally perfectly kind of hopping and keeping his balance between the the mess. yeah Which is really cool. Of the four, did Cradle get the best of the four? I feel like he did.
01:06:48
Speaker
Between the hand the hand, you know, the the tinker powers with the hands, but also with these invisible whips that he can create, which are a version of Rain's power. Yeah. like I'm just like,
01:07:00
Speaker
just like, what? ah why He's clearly the most powerful member of the four. It feels like at least. and Maybe it's like a good day for him or something, but it's still, compared to the others we've seen.
01:07:12
Speaker
I really want more Cradle. i I'm really glad he didn't die in this fight because, especially after his conversation with Victoria about the whole feeling violated thing, like... and That who piqued my interest.
01:07:25
Speaker
Like, i'm I'm here. Because we never got Cradle's, um like, nightmare flashback workloads, you know? That's true. So, again, the even the whole enigma.
01:07:38
Speaker
Yeah. Just the baseline of what he was saying, though, of, like, I wouldn't have triggered if Rain hadn't done what he did. It's like that baseline of something has taken over me
01:07:50
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, always. the the end The antagonist that is that is fully justified is always a really fun antagonist because like they're not villains. From what probably we know you know, they just hate rain.
01:08:02
Speaker
Understandably so. Valid. no Valid. So, yeah it makes for a really... i love that type of character. I love interacting with those types of characters. So, hopefully more Cradle.
01:08:13
Speaker
Fran had a question in chat. Said, would it ruin Cradle if I told you the fandom thinks Wild Bo based him on Caillou? um who I think is who you're trying to spell is Caillou. Yeah. um And I would say no because i don't and don't t I don't see that too much.
01:08:31
Speaker
yeah have heard We know that he hates Caillou. Yeah, we know that he hates Caillou. Yes, we have yeah we have heard of The rest of the chat is upset about this as well.
01:08:44
Speaker
ah i refuse. We'll keep that in mind as we move forward. i and yeah I don't personally see it, but i guess you never don't see it either, but there's so much we're still missing from the story. 20% of every arc. We'll come back. Yeah, we'll come back to that statement when we have more information. Yeah, we will.
01:09:04
Speaker
Yeah, remind us when we get back to that. That is funny, though. If we see Cradle... It's a meme. Oh, my gosh. Oh, no. Is he bald? Is Cradle bald? Yeah. He is now in my head.
01:09:16
Speaker
I was about to say he wasn't before, but he is now. i We still don't have a reason for why Cradle, though, right? Do we have a reason why his name is Cradle? but and The hands carry him.
01:09:29
Speaker
oh We don't know otherwise, though. That's... their Their whole group, their names aren't great. okay with Rain is still Rain. Snag, like I mean, listen. not young i think they're all they're all loosely based on what happened in the mall. Love Lost is pretty obvious.
01:09:47
Speaker
Snag, remember, he got his hand. He was trying to help somebody, got his hand caught and couldn't help them. yeah okay yeah and We don't know why Gradle was Gradle, but we could assume they're lying. Now I'm scared. It's because he's a little baby like Caillou.
01:10:01
Speaker
a little baby. like by true i mean We've run into nursery already and nursery is yeah absolutely fucking terrifying as a power.
01:10:12
Speaker
And i I I don't know. i don't know. Interesting. Yeah. Well, we'll keep a pendant We have something to look forward to.
01:10:25
Speaker
ah But also, this last note that I have for this one was another Kenzie win with the fake lasers flying through them. Oh, so good. Fantastic. Like, yeah just she comes in brilliant. she She comes in clutch with the camera to help them see the invisible with laser things, which is magical. Go, Kenzie. And then she comes in with the with the red herring, or not red herring, but the... The the red lasers. Yeah.
01:10:51
Speaker
The red laser. Fake red laser. yeah Yes, thank you, Jacob. The fake red laser. Which is also great. Like, she's doing so good. She's staying to the sidelines like she's supposed to But she's helping and she's proud of herself. Like, yay, go Kenzie.
01:11:08
Speaker
She basically for the D&D nerds has like permacast, you know, ah ah all the illusory spells, the majorator major major major all that kind of stuff, which is really fun, really fun.
01:11:23
Speaker
ah
01:11:27
Speaker
Moving on. All right. Six six six six point six. I guess the only other thing we missed is that. um Oh, no, never mind. Yeah, no.
01:11:39
Speaker
No, yeah, that was 6.5.

Complex Characters and Legal Perspectives

01:11:41
Speaker
Rain was healed by Scapegoat, who's fallen now, which sucks. Oh, yes, we didn't talk about that. So he's just, what, after Gold Mourning, he just kind of joined the cult? Scapegoat was always, he always was a little on the fritz, wasn't he, though?
01:11:56
Speaker
I think he was he was always upset because his power sucks. And I'll be honest, yeah, like, it sucks. It's a that' pretty bad power. And so... Like your your ability is like, what's your ability? Oh, I take on the injuries of others and experience them for myself so they can keep doing useful things.
01:12:12
Speaker
well Yeah. okay ah Oh my God. and And isn't... I'm trying to remember. Never mind. I'm going to say anything. I think that's i think years ago i when I was in the worm, I spoiled myself on some word spoilers for characters. So I don't know if I did, but it's in the back of my mind. so Okay. Sure.
01:12:34
Speaker
Well, and I will say too, like the, I don't know if it was Mama Mathers, Valafor, one of them made the implication, like we have a lot more pool than you, or Tattletail said it maybe. Yeah, we have a lot more pool than you may realize or the fallen have a lot more pool and having the speed runners in Prancer's group turn on them. Nobody expected that runners. The yeah you know scapegoat letting the fall the crawlies out or the Crowley's um out.
01:13:01
Speaker
You know, like nobody saw that coming. The Crawley's Crowley's Creepy Crawley's Creepy Crawley's. Exactly. They are creepy and they Crowley and they Crowley.
01:13:12
Speaker
Exactly.
01:13:15
Speaker
So yeah, I don't know. it It does kind of feel like, oh man, like that.
01:13:21
Speaker
I don't know. it It was kind of destined, maybe, that somebody like him would turn bad.
01:13:29
Speaker
yeah It's just a bummer, though. like Seeing people that we know from Wyrm, too, because it feels so nostalgic anytime we run into somebody. like I mean, like running into Narwhal, even Undersiders having them back, like it's so nostalgic back to Wyrm.
01:13:43
Speaker
And then to be like... like it yeah it just breaks my heart a little bit to to see... see people who, you know, were at Gold Morning, who survived Gold Morning, and then, like, they've come out the other side and they're struggling or they're, like, trying to find their place or, you know, joining a cult.
01:14:05
Speaker
Like, it sucks. And, it like, it it feels, it makes the world feel more real that, like, people are so, so struggling, you know, to to function and find their place in the the new universe as it is.
01:14:25
Speaker
Yeah, yeah i I agree that. um We didn't talk much about Operator Red. um He's kind of an interesting one just because he... He's cool. Victoria labels him as a combat thinker.
01:14:37
Speaker
um Sort of yeah similar, not as strong, of course, but similar in vibes in that way to somebody like a Jack Slash where they're just constantly aware of combat, right? like they're They just have an intuitive usage of weapons and things like that, which is kind of cool.
01:14:54
Speaker
Um, cool. I feel like he's got an interesting costume too. He's got the c cleavers on his back. He's got a mask with a red handprint on it. Very Uruk-hai kind of looking. Yeah. Like kind of a nice, like cool minor villain. and Like, okay, good. Nice, cool backup villain. I like that.
01:15:09
Speaker
Um, yeah, but yeah, I don't know if there's much more Tattletail wants Cradle. Uh, we don't find out why later, but you know, it's still not entirely sure, but we'll get there.
01:15:21
Speaker
Yeah. we come back to that.
01:15:26
Speaker
We'll explain when we explain. Yeah. Yeah. Anything else until 6.6? No. That's all my notes. um Oh, the one little thing. it was in 6.4, but Vista and Capricorn riding on Narwhal's little Oh, that was so cool. We've just been doing loops waiting for you to pick us up.
01:15:51
Speaker
yeah It's a whole new world moment. And they're like, they can only go straight. Yeah, they only go straight. So Vista's like having to like just bend everything so that they're like making these loops.
01:16:02
Speaker
Which feels like some sort of metaphor for what she's trying to do with the relationship or something like that. Poor Vista. Poor Vista.
01:16:14
Speaker
Gosh. Only her trying to straighten out that that bend so it's the reverse. Trying to straighten out the bend.
01:16:23
Speaker
She's bending the straight so she can straighten the bend. There it is. Yeah. No, that was funny. Okay. All right, 6.6. Narwhal stand off with the remaining Fallen.
01:16:36
Speaker
Tattletail warns Vicky about March and dealing with the anti-cape Captain Marshall. The team discusses the fights and parts ways with the other heroes. Will Rain let the Fallen run? It's the question at the end of the arc.
01:16:51
Speaker
Yeah. Mm-hmm. Because the one group had gotten away. Yeah.
01:16:59
Speaker
yeah yeah six yard and we're yeah go ahead yeah I was just going to say 6.6 is the end of them being in the fallen camp they leave after this to chase the remaining the family this is where they have the the hero who's phasing out Mama Mathers I found his name Chasmel said Chasm earlier very close um So he's the one, he's like making the coffin lighter so Byron can drag it um and then phasing her partially out of reality. So fun.
01:17:31
Speaker
A little banter. Yeah, the little banter there was great. was very cute. Like, i didn't get all I didn't get any of the superpower, but like, I can pretend like strong. can pretend to have the super strength for once. Yeah. So cute.
01:17:45
Speaker
It was good. Oh, I love it so much. Also, is it here where where ah vista tries Vista does like the fist bump? She's like, Yeah. And everyone's just like, She does the fist bump to a bunch of people.
01:17:57
Speaker
I love it. The only funny one with that is when she tries to do it said to Ashley and Ashley is just it's like... Ashley is just like... But she smiles, though. Like, she's still... She's, she's you know, she recognizes it. I think if she fist bumped her, her power would misfire and someone would end up with their arm blown off. Yeah.
01:18:17
Speaker
um Ashley's also ah this is the part where Ashley feels like she may be tainting Luxie a little and feels bad about that that's right yeah cause she's like I think maybe she tried to kill Mama Mathers because I killed somebody and if she killed somebody too then it would make it feel less bad I think Bernard mentioned that earlier in chat as well yeah which just kind of goes to show like how ah dangerous Kenzie can be.
01:18:47
Speaker
Like, got a real monkey see, monkey do situation. Yes. We talked about with no inhibition or anything going on. like It's like she doesn't... And I don't know if this is because she's a kid still, but the whole like understanding of like cause and effect and consequences and like long-term consequences like are completely lost on her.
01:19:10
Speaker
Which I know we've talked about before, but I... i Have we talked about the whole thing of like maybe Kenzie's sociopath? Not person. or says Not a person is definitely something we have to talk about. But like there's something like I can't I don't know it because teenagers are stupid. Like they make dumb decisions.
01:19:30
Speaker
They don't recognize that things have long term effects. Like I don't know if this is a thing where she's just where it's like she's a dumb teenager with a power that. fucks up all of her She's not a dumb teenager because let's go to the next chapter a little bit and say everybody was hurt and Kenzie was 11.
01:19:47
Speaker
But, uh, yeah. Like, okay, a new theory for Kenzie, if you'll allow me. Yeah, go for it. Kenzie, because her specialty is cameras, only sees people as with that degree of separation.
01:20:05
Speaker
and Like, as we talk about with, you know, like when people are watching other people on YouTube or, you know, just interacting on the internet, there's ah tendency to like act out more um because, you know people used to talk about anonymity, but also like it is the degree of separation. Like there is essentially a window between you and this other person.
01:20:29
Speaker
And that small degree of separation allows you to act very socially different with, you know, other people and i think kenzie just lives like that because potentially to her people aren't just other people they are um they like i said they are degree separated they are images on the other end of a retinal camera like as a But it's also mixed with like the intensity of a a fan and a fandom, right?
01:21:07
Speaker
Yeah, yeah that parasocial like that parasocial relationship of like, oh my gosh, I would do anything for this K-pop boy band. Hey, you leave K-pop boy bands out of this. I'm sorry.
01:21:21
Speaker
You're right. Taylor Swift. Yeah.
01:21:25
Speaker
A different kind of cult. Different kind of cult. Yeah, very different. um Yeah, I mean, i I could see that. That's a good way of looking at it, maybe. Yeah, that is good. And then this is also where, you know, Ashley's like, hey, if something happens to me, take care of Kenzie.
01:21:38
Speaker
There's not really anybody else who can. And Victoria's like, what about her parents? And Ashley's just like, heh. thank Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's what she says. ah Go to family dinner. Yeah, go to family dinner. Oh, yeah. yeah why I can't wait for family dinner. Let's go. That's actually be a good point. ah You bring up the earlier the earlier a person triggers, the more shard that person is. Like the more the impact and the more it develops and kind of grows in and with them.
01:22:10
Speaker
And the two big examples we have with this are Bonesaw trying to literally put together who the heck Wiley yeah Like right she doesn't even like it literally is a complete break for her to remember like oh yeah I was a human being one time.
01:22:28
Speaker
And it's a drastic difference between the two. um Trying to become Riley. and Yeah. yeah And the other is Valkyrie. Like Valkyrie is so like ah separated from Glastigwenye because yeah you know that was literally like 99% shard talking through human language.
01:22:54
Speaker
um And then her kind of feeling like she was coming out of a trance almost like yeah like And now that I'm trying to distinguish my humanity, like, that's tough.
01:23:05
Speaker
yeah Maybe she's born with it. Maybe as brain worms. Yeah. also so Falkity, think, ah in chat, said the Rachel effect. And I was thinking about that.
01:23:19
Speaker
I don't know if this what you're referring to. But yeah, in regards to Kenzie. But like the whole thing of how, Alan, you were talking about Kenzie seeing people with that degree of separation with all like seeing them through the lens thing. Like, Bitch seeing people as dogs and like the behavioral pattern of dogs of like, this is how deeply your power is connected back to you and how it changes the way you see other people.
01:23:44
Speaker
Rachel was a fairly young trigger as well, if I remember. Yeah. Yeah. yeah um And, but to be fair, Rachel has because of you know other people pointing stuff out to her has developed enough coping mechanisms and stuff to seem to actually be working ah through a lot of you know yeah a lot of those things that you know would have had the more aggressive side effects of not being able to read people like she has developed ah you know
01:24:21
Speaker
ah ways to to work within that space and yeah work around it. Well, she's also matured. Like, she's a grown-up now. Yeah. She's older. It just reminds a lot of people who, who you know, yeah have those like,
01:24:36
Speaker
they were very autistic as a child and just undiagnosed because autism wasn't created until the 2012 era. Autism didn't exist back then, don't you know? Exactly. And then they grow up and you're like, oh yeah, that person's a little weird. And then something sets them off and you're like, oh, you might actually have a lot of autism, but you figured out through the course of your life coping mechanisms to how work yeah around like people in your life to help you.
01:25:08
Speaker
Yeah. Like and you've worked around like 90% of that, you know, right.
01:25:16
Speaker
Go undersiders, undersiders for the win. true. It's true. Better therapy than team therapy. Apparently. For real though. oh man.
01:25:28
Speaker
All right. Before we move on, though, just because I and mark my chapters with Chris quotes, we can't skip ah my other favorite Chris quote from this arc, which was his joke ah battles about Luxie. I'll just read it because it's so good.
01:25:42
Speaker
Chris went on, I wanted to make a joke before, but speaking takes concentration when you don't have the mouth you're used to. Now it sounds dumb because I'd be saying it out of nowhere. Say it, say it, Luxie said.
01:25:54
Speaker
Look-see, more like Lookout, Chris said as he chose the most deadpan tone of voice he could manage in a way that sucked any of the residual humor out of the line.
01:26:06
Speaker
so It was so funny. It was great. Absolutely feeling it. Oh my gosh. and enter Did you see Fran's comment? yeah Yeah, that is fantastic. In terms of shard effects and Vista's shard makes her see unobtainable menace closer to her league.
01:26:22
Speaker
yeah Wow. Wow. That's great. Fantastic. Wow. Fantastic. ah All right. Yeah, we run into Captain Marshall because they're all like, hey, there's fallen people with guns leaving. Like, we should stop them, right? And Captain Marshall's like,
01:26:42
Speaker
na Better let him go. Yeah. it's a you know It's a better jurisdiction. Somebody else's jurisdiction. you know Someone else's problem. it what was so This is one of those, again, frustrating conversations where it's like like the hero-villain conversation with Amy we've talked about before or the villain-hero conversation we had with other characters in this in Ward where they're like, well, yeah, like obviously they were upset and shooting at us. We invaded their home. And I'm like,
01:27:11
Speaker
well but We had a good reason. Crazy. my God. you that
01:27:20
Speaker
She. i understand. and understand where she's coming from. And even Gil Patrick being like. ah This is how she operates.
01:27:34
Speaker
Oh, did you think maybe they were just defending themselves?
01:27:41
Speaker
but yes. However, were you here the same fight as us? Were you? Did you just did you watch that? Because that was not people defending themselves. That was. Human torture and and and lots of death and and and we can't I don't we. yeah ah Yeah, no, just it's hard because it's like it's that mixture of.
01:28:07
Speaker
There is some understanding there, right? Where it's like, okay, all those people who are unpowered, they just have guns. They're scared out of their minds, right? Like, okay, them, I totally get it. Yeah, you could twist it. A good lawyer could twist it. It's so hard.
01:28:19
Speaker
On the other hand, though, obviously, they're up to something. We don't trust these people. We know that they have big plans. Like, this was going to happen anyway because Prancer's group was coming, so we needed to be here to stop the worst of it from getting worse.
01:28:32
Speaker
Like, it's just, it's very frustrating, and it's, I don't know. It's hard because I'm thinking too, right? I'm in the mindset of what do we do with the fallen as a group?
01:28:43
Speaker
Because the simplest answer is also the worst thing to do, which is just eradicate them. Earth Yeah, There you go. Earth bet. Yeah, exactly.
01:28:55
Speaker
Yeah. but But at the same time, it's like, okay, but rehabilitating people from a cult takes time and resources which and that is incredibly difficult to do for this large of a number of people so what do you do like and they don't have though that time and that resource and here's the lawyer's defense they're also dealing with like walking nuclear bombs at the same time yeah the lawyer's defense for all of this is uh these people are getting religiously discriminated ah and were attacked by a pack of supervillains, a premeditated attack by a gang of supervillains coming yeah to attack them very based on religious persecution.

Moral Dilemmas and Story Progression

01:29:36
Speaker
And then the heroes aided the supervillains in attacking them. like Yes. like yeah it's It does not look good you know trying to prosecute them.
01:29:51
Speaker
Good thing the Fallen make bad decisions. Oh, yeah. They would ruin their all their defenses by getting up on the stand. You would never want to have them... You would you try to get them a fu far away from witness. They would not be on the stand. No, you would keep them out of the stand. And the jury of peers would be like, fuck them.
01:30:10
Speaker
Hang on. That's the urgent motherfucking Christ on the back of his... Tattooed across his back.
01:30:21
Speaker
Get him the fuck out of here. Please. I will remind you to remove the animal head from your person. From your head. Please remove the horse head before testifying.
01:30:35
Speaker
Oh, man.
01:30:38
Speaker
there's this There's this clip that's been going around from the show, Make Some Noise, of Brennan Lee Mulligan and Zach Oyama. Yes. Where it's the two of them just a sketch of a client badly or has like poorly times an interruption of his lawyer's final statement. Yeah.
01:30:55
Speaker
And he's like, you know, Brennan Mulligan's the lawyer. And he's like, and this man, he's in it. Like, the court would have you believe that he's a villain. And Zach just goes, yeah, i killed him. that would be the fallen on the stand it's like yeah these people are just defending themselves and they're like yeah and i raped a woman too like whoa hey no no did not kill this man i killed him and his family i murdered all of them jeez burn pillaged and raped and not necessarily in that order Not in that order. it's Running around.
01:31:35
Speaker
Burning our women and raping our children. Bernard, to answer your question, this is all this is all prior to us knowing they're going to bomb the portal. So this is all like yeah yeah you know prior to the them becoming active terrorists.
01:31:49
Speaker
Yeah, no, obviously after after their most latest stupid. you know Can we prove it in court of law? That's all I'm saying.
01:32:01
Speaker
Yes. Oh, then they're fucked.
01:32:06
Speaker
Also, things in 6.7. ah Let's see. um ah have ah the best line, everyone was hurt, and Kenzie was 11, which I still freaking love. It's so good. Poor Kenzie. forget she's 11. Yeah. she's not allowed outside.
01:32:29
Speaker
Yeah, I in my head. She's like 1314. But holy cracker jacks. so i'm Speaking Kenzie, I just have damn you got Kenzie to swear Chris.
01:32:42
Speaker
Yeah, for real. Probably in regards to the lookout joke. And more. she has Was it? No, it wasn't the lookout joke. She thought that was funny. No, yeah. but That's in 6.7.
01:32:54
Speaker
Are we in 6.7? Is 6.7 the bus conversation? Yeah. aons up Okay, I'll be honest. I have almost no notes before 6.6, and has one note, and then everything is 6.7 onward. like So I've just been like, are we yeah in the part that's interesting yet?
01:33:15
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, we'll get there. 6.7, quick overview. Post-fight cooldown, Victoria relates to Rain. They debate releasing Cradle in exchange for Tattletail's help with the Crowleys. Discuss the different Fallen branches. Aaron visits briefly.
01:33:29
Speaker
The team has a fractious argument over the morality of killing. They decide to meet with the Undersiders and Tattletail explains she underestimated the Cluster's bloodlust. Mm-hmm.
01:33:42
Speaker
Yeah. yeah That was fun.
01:33:47
Speaker
Yeah, I... Glad Aaron and Rain had some reconciliation after ah the the whole child marriage thing. Yeah, that was awkward. That was rough.
01:33:59
Speaker
Yeah. i I will say I did cringe internally when they're like, Aaron, do you want to stay? and Rain's like, yeah, you should stay. And Aaron's like, I'm going to go. And they stay at the same time. And then it's just like this awkward silence of like...
01:34:16
Speaker
She's like, well, you know, Bryce is injured, so I'm i'm probably going to Like, he's like, okay. Like, awesome. Yeah. Awkward. Bro. Can we just be for friends and forget about that whole thing? so awful. Never talk about that ever again.
01:34:32
Speaker
Well, feel so bad for him. Sure. That was like, oh, gosh. Yeah, no. I mean, we talked about that when it happened, but literally, like, this is what he's wanted, but not at all how he wanted it.
01:34:47
Speaker
and And now it's, like, worse because there's all that weirdness and history. And also, she's probably, like, even more averse to the idea of, like, ever dating him after that trauma.
01:34:59
Speaker
And he's still in love with her, like. Yeah. Yeah, it's rough. It's rough. Bernard, to answer your question, we do all know Tattletail's power from ah from from wom Worm. Yeah, Worm. But none of the characters in this have... Nobody in the world has figured it out.
01:35:20
Speaker
so Yeah, don't know. They get a few hints in this one that she does have limitations. She tells them a lot. Yeah, she... She shares quite a bit with them, yeah. think Lixie got under her skin.
01:35:33
Speaker
and Oh, yeah. So proud. We're going to hate other people that have like widespread, like, yeah I'll just call it like influence almost. Like, Dragon probably is in her shit list.
01:35:45
Speaker
Oh, yeah. very much yeah like yeah
01:35:51
Speaker
does She doesn't like other people knowing things. no No, no, she doesn't. Although... the the potential of having Tattletail back on the team, not the team, but like, like what was so great about her being part of the undersiders was that we were always in the know because she knew shit was going on. Like we were always at the forefront of information because of Tattletail and the idea of potentially having her or this group. Well, you know, whatever the fuck is happening. Cause I don't know what's happening.
01:36:23
Speaker
Uh, like having her back basically give us information and keep us as the reader in the know. I really hope we get more of because I, I really want to know.
01:36:34
Speaker
Listen, give me my exposition cape, please. Just please let her sit down. That'll tell please. She starts a bit here or, well, I guess probably 6.8 is when they really get into the conversation. Yeah. Yeah. We see, um,
01:36:48
Speaker
yeah yeahp we see um Yeah, the the conversation a little bit about killing is interesting. Yeah. I don't, you know, kind going back and forth.
01:36:59
Speaker
Yeah, is this where, and listen, I love Sveta. Girl, you're great. You've got the purest heart. You are the glue. You hold everyone together. You're fantastic. But like, we got to have a sit down and understand that in fighting, people get hurt.
01:37:16
Speaker
And you want to be part of a fighting hero team. yeah stuff will happen. And like, I get the hesitation. That's great. It's good to have the the contrast there.
01:37:27
Speaker
But the whole time, i'm just like, I mean, yeah, yeah it's probably not great. Kenzie almost killed somebody, but she also took out Mama Mathers, who was threatening yeah everything. Yeah.
01:37:41
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like um it it's probably hard, though, because... I mean, it's either her or Damsel. So far as we know, at least, it's either her or Damsel who have the highest body count.
01:37:54
Speaker
Yeah. You know, like, Sveta's killed a lot of people. Yeah. I mean, Sveta implied... mean, it says, right, that she was... think it's more like... She dropped her in Russia. Yeah.
01:38:05
Speaker
And she just kind of went hog wild for a bit. Yeah. Yeah. Like, that's her first... Yeah, that's one of her first memories, right? And so... what I imagine is for her, it's an act of restraint, right? Like if she lets go, it's a, it's an iron giant thing, right? Whereas like he has a great power to kill everybody.
01:38:26
Speaker
So he has to be restrained. Um, otherwise he would just go crazy and kill everybody. So with her, it's not so much like, um, I, not i I don't think it's that she doesn't understand people are going to get hurt. She just doesn't want other people to go down that path.
01:38:43
Speaker
And maybe it's just a feeling of like, maybe other people are like that too, where if they really let themselves go, they'll kill. They'll just go crazy like I did. and i don't want anybody to do that.
01:38:53
Speaker
don't know. Yeah, definitely. Which it's like, I get the, you know, I've always hated that in Batman. You know, with this whole like, I'm not going to, you know, kill because it'll just be the easy way out. Like, okay, well, whatever. life Exactly.
01:39:08
Speaker
um But, but in you know, I don't like it on that end, but I do understand, you know, Sveta's thing is like, with a lot of other stuff that, we you know, they talk about is like, it's always going to be something.
01:39:19
Speaker
Like, oh, well Kenzie had to do it because Mama Mathers was threatening. Like, oh, I had to do it because of this. Like, you'll always find the excuse for the action.
01:39:31
Speaker
Even if it's very justified, like, there's always going to that. Extra because it's justified. Yeah, extra because justified. One thing leads to another and then you find yourself shooting a baby in the head, you know? Like, that's... Right, exactly, you know? will never bring up Taylor for that.
01:39:47
Speaker
so
01:39:50
Speaker
peace I'll never forgive her for only firing once. Yeah. but no There we go. First rule, double tap. yeah Jacob, I was trying to come up with a last box in the bingo for tonight, and I couldn't think of a way to phrase ah Jacob has a zinger.
01:40:10
Speaker
And like... and I mean, like there you go. has pretty good Yeah, I guess that's just going to be it from now on. Just Jacob has his zinger. There you go.
01:40:20
Speaker
You know, ah yeah you got your nahi gone, you know, because Jacob's got the best one-liners. Yep. All right. 6.8.
01:40:29
Speaker
yeah right six point eight Wait, we can't skip my Chris quote of the chapter. yes. Chris quote of the chapter for 6.7. Which maybe will just become a new, my new running. A new Chris quote. Yeah, Chris quote.
01:40:43
Speaker
So this one, when they're making fun of, or well, Chris is making fun of Rain's ah ah lifestyle and upbringing in the Fallen. Chris leaned forward. Stay away from those jackass kids, Junior.
01:40:56
Speaker
They're up to no good. I hear one of them was crazy enough to trim his pubes with a weed whacker. Be back before eight because we're decapitating a baby for the ritual tonight and we need you to hold it down.
01:41:07
Speaker
ah just Chris, what the hell, man? No, no, no. You gotta read the line that comes right after it. What Rain's response is because Rain comes right back at him.
01:41:19
Speaker
Yeah, the first part isn't all that wrong, Raina said. if Some guy trying to trim his peeves. Oh, what a hundred percent. Oh my God. Look, here's the thing. I believe it because the fallen are stupid children.
01:41:36
Speaker
I believe it because I've met those people. yeah I've even worked with a couple. um Oh, man. ah I just thought, you know, I'd start my my campfire with a gallon of gas. Get that started real quick, you know, and then and then everything next thing.
01:41:52
Speaker
Next thing I knew, I didn't have eyebrows anymore. Yeah.
01:41:59
Speaker
Before we move on. Does anybody know about looking it up who the boy with the birds is?

Second Generation Capes and Power Dynamics

01:42:08
Speaker
That's Chicken Little. mean, they say his name.
01:42:10
Speaker
Oh, they say his name. They say his name later, yeah. I mean, he's the kid he's the kid who had the dreams about the whales, right? There we go. I knew it had to be one of the... Is it one of the forest kids?
01:42:23
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. One of the forest kids? Okay, yeah, yeah. I call them forest kids like they're his, but we all know what I mean. Yeah. yeah i thought they were one of heartbreakers. Heartbreak?
01:42:35
Speaker
Wait, what's his name? No, no, no. It wasn't one ah one of ah one wasn't one of the heartbroken. Okay. yeah Yeah. He was just one of the kids. ah we Have we talked about this is for exclusively you guys chat. You be quiet about this.
01:42:49
Speaker
um Have we talked about did they mention what his power his power set was? Kind of. They do talk. Yeah, they talk briefly about it here in 6.8. yeah So yeah but what we know about, you know, how powers work and talking about he's technically ah probably a second generation cape.
01:43:11
Speaker
Like not in a biological sense, but. Oh, like similar to Taylor is what you're saying. Because that's where he was. There is quote where, yeah, we're. Oh, okay, yes.
01:43:22
Speaker
Second generation cape, but not biological. Yeah. Not biologically. you know Yeah. yeah But he probably has an offshoot shard. oh Oh, yeah. From Taylor. Because of the whole the whole ah the control all the bugs thing, he's controlling the birds boy. Yeah, yeah. for right You are right. Chicken Little is briefly in Worm as a member of the Undersiders when Taylor comes back.
01:43:48
Speaker
Um... They mention his power, at least. He's in Worm very briefly. After the time skip. After the time skip, in Worm, not Ward.
01:43:59
Speaker
In Worm, when Taylor comes back after the time skip, they briefly mention Chicken Little. I'm pretty sure. Not by name. No, I don't remember him. I think this is the first time we ever see him with powers. We just mentioned that one of the kids had dreams about worms. Yeah.
01:44:15
Speaker
No, because there's a whole thing with him and birds in Worm. I knew about this. Yeah, but he doesn't have the ability. it just says that he talks about it. like Doesn't he carry around like a like a little dove or something in Worm?
01:44:27
Speaker
Maybe, but... I'm pretty sure because there's some weird thing with him and birds in Worm. I'm almost sure. I'm looking it up. The only thing and the only reason i say that only reason I say that is because i room I knew about this character prior to reading Ward.
01:44:44
Speaker
But don't remember. And when he came up again, was like, oh yeah, i remember this guy. i don't remember why, but I remember him. I didn't remember the chicken little names, but... The night that Taylor's identity gets revealed, she finally comes back. Maybe I looked it up by accident.
01:45:00
Speaker
And then... oh ah he
01:45:08
Speaker
He... All that to say, though, Tattletail here does mention... he reminds me of somebody. And Victoria's like, I get it. Yeah. yeah Yeah.
01:45:20
Speaker
Yeah. Like, I wanted to take him under my wings, he reminds me of somebody, and she's like, okay, I get it. Yeah, does not, there's no, literally no mention power or anything. He he's known to me there, and they talk about him like he clearly, he clearly something happened. You what I think happened? You know what I think happened?
01:45:40
Speaker
Yeah. For me, now i'm I'm thinking back on it, on my thought process. I think at some point... um Okay, 2 plus 4 says Hannah's right. Tattletail says what happened. Charlotte says birds.
01:45:53
Speaker
So... um so therere I think what happened for me, because I did remember the name Chicken Little, um I think I looked up the Undersiders on the Parahumans wiki, and he's in the list of members.
01:46:08
Speaker
And I was like, Chicken Little? Who's Chicken Little? That make sense. So that might be. I knew about him, but I didn't know about the name. So ah you actually remembered from reading. I remembered from cheating. So, you know, it goes both ways.
01:46:22
Speaker
Although let's all agree that Imp did have a better name than Chicken Little. Oh, 100%. and i Yeah. Unkindness.
01:46:33
Speaker
Yeah. Which is infinitely better. So good. It upset me when she said it and everyone was like, no, I don't get it. And I was like, heathens. Bunch of heathens. Yeah.
01:46:45
Speaker
Even like cockatrice would be better than chicken noodle. You can call him cock for short. Call him cocky. Cocky. o Also, you're 100% right. Interlude 26. Yeah, he's in there. I was just talking about my i inin pushing the birds and they go where I push or I pull and they fly from that spot. It's hard to do, but I could see what nice i can see what they see, but not while I'm controlling them.
01:47:11
Speaker
And then talking about they were suspected he would trigger. um He had nightmares basically the night of cold morning i believe thought okay okay there you go i i'm not gonna lie i as someone who never remembers anything i'm very proud of myself for remembering right for for you know the wikipedia entry for wormnesia good job well done well done yeah yeah um
01:47:38
Speaker
ah and ah and yeah yeah um I don't know. Obviously, they so they show Rain. They make a projection of Rain as he was injured, which I think is a bold move.
01:47:52
Speaker
Yeah. And then Tattletail's like, somebody take the kids. Get them out of here. but yeah Love it. Love it. Good times.
01:48:03
Speaker
um Okay, so 6.8. I think we're kind of rolling into 6.8. Let's go. yeah Team therapy and Undersiders talk. Tattletail throws some shade at the team.
01:48:15
Speaker
Tattletail reveals her attempts to manipulate Rain's cluster. She wanted to help Cradle replicate Goddess. The Undersiders force Tattletail to make amends.
01:48:26
Speaker
Hunt for the Fallen continues and they ambush the Crowleys. ah um Some good stuff. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. um yeah i do love I do love a good tattletale shade session, you know, just throwing like... Oh, yeah.
01:48:42
Speaker
Listen here, you little bitch. Let me tell you about your life and why you suck. Listen, I know infinitely more than you and you're really slowing me down. Oh, that shade...
01:48:55
Speaker
oh that she poor Kenzie Kenzie's so longing for attention she's like but Tattletail you didn't say anything bad about me Tattletail's like god damn it child sit down she's like no no no please roast me roast me Tattletail please that's so good it's so good she does she does roast her she does and then Kenzie's like yes got it I'm the team got her i don bad you got it
01:49:28
Speaker
and No, this is, yeah. Okay. So a lot happens here. i would like some clarity on a few things that Tattletail says. or any of you who might have picked up on things better than I did.
01:49:41
Speaker
So, yeah and as you were saying, Nick, Tattletail wants Cradle because she thinks that Cradle can potentially replicate what Goddess did, who's a new name, right? We've never heard of Goddess before?
01:49:57
Speaker
orjin We heard about the Lady in Blue was mentioned previously. Okay. Very, like, great. As implied... me It's very brief because as implied by what Tattletail says here, and if you go back and look, she is one of the capes that...
01:50:12
Speaker
Kepri picks up as she's going between Earths and universes. yeah Yes, yes, yes. I remember this brief mention because she's like, comes to this Earth, Earthshin, I think, and she's like, this cape is super powerful.
01:50:26
Speaker
I can use her. She's like the only cape in this world or like controls everybody. I can use her influence. Like, she's like one of the influential ones that is noted and then gets, apparently gets briefly dropped in this Earth and then sent back to Earthshin because she's really problematic. Yeah.
01:50:42
Speaker
It's kind of the vibe I got. I did like how they describe how Tattletail describes Golden Mording there where she's like picked up by an unknown. forget how she refers to to to scale but it was like an unknown force or entity or something like that brought her into our world. A strange a strange unnamed player who has since been classified as a threat on par with any inbringer.
01:51:05
Speaker
Yes. Way to live on. Fuck yeah there's our girl. yeah as as fran said she was the cape from the universe where pair humans were in control and she was the supreme leader of that earth okay gotcha so uh scary so wants cradle to try and replicate that by stealing all of the basically the best versions of all of his clusters powers because she wants this is where i was confused Is she wanting basically a Class S threat that she has under her wing for the inevitable interdimensional war that's coming?
01:51:46
Speaker
Or was there another reason that I missed? I mean, if it's that simple, I'm not... fine Yeah, I think it's partly that... It's partly that she also said to Rain, like, this is... I'm not trying to save you, but...
01:52:02
Speaker
I do think that doing this would stop the kiss kill problem because then all of the shards would be located in him and not, you know, there wouldn't be that fight. He would have everything.
01:52:15
Speaker
Right. I think also, she also implies like goddess was in a really powerful cluster. It's very possible that cradle wouldn't be in such a powerful cluster.
01:52:27
Speaker
you guys aren't on that level at the same time though. I mean like cradle is already pretty powerful. Yeah. Like, and don't know i don't yeah I don't know. don't know. Giving him but the best version of all of their powers would be pretty terrifying.
01:52:41
Speaker
Yeah. I feel like you're onto something, though, Jacob, with why. It's that I want to have a class ah potential Class S threat under my control because you know shit's going to go down in this multiverse, and we need to have a few that we can and I can rely on.
01:52:59
Speaker
Someone mentions it somewhere in the chapter. yeah there someone says, so you just want, you want them for muscle or something like that. i forget what the quote is. Yeah. And she, in Tattletail, kind of wishy-washies, but I think that's the implication.
01:53:14
Speaker
Anyway, interesting, Tattletail. I trust you implicitly. I know you're right, but please tell me what your plan is. so Please tell me what it is. I need to know.
01:53:26
Speaker
Although I had to look it up. and It is Chris, not Kinsey, at least in this one I was thinking of that that got under Tattletail because they're talking back and forth. And then Chris, because he's a cluster cape, but Chris said, you had a bad read.
01:53:40
Speaker
Talking about when Tattletail sort of didn't really yeah understand yeah how how killy the kiss kill was. And you had a bad read, prodding her, Tattletail. No, because then I would have had a capital N slash capital A underlined for my thinker read on him, prodding her, and it worked.
01:53:58
Speaker
Way to go, Chris. Way to go. It was good. Got her. Yeah, we also see... um What is it? Basically that there are three big factions that Tattletail is a little worried about.

Organizational Shifts and Looming Conflicts

01:54:13
Speaker
So Goddess is taking back over her world.
01:54:16
Speaker
That's a potential existential threat they're dealing with. Cauldron has been split in two. I do love this description. going to try to find it again. Yes, I know exactly what talking about.
01:54:27
Speaker
The description of teacher is like, I'm irritated, Tattletail said, I'm tired. We've got a lady in blue trying to get up to full strength again. A guy who wears fucking sweaters is pulling at the threads that are holding everything together while maintaining and expanding the institution side of Cauldron.
01:54:43
Speaker
A handful of others are running the ideological end of Cauldron. Both those groups are strong in their own way and yet they aren't doing a tenth of what Cauldron used to do in forestalling disasters and containing the most unproductive messes in Cape Cape. Yeah. they just that A guy who wears fucking sweaters. That is teacher.
01:55:01
Speaker
Yeah. just I hate that he's on the farm. Sweater guy. Yeah. Sweater guy. Just you know continuing um to establish that number one cauldron might have been right, was right the entire time, and ah way more effective than all this bullshit. like Yeah.
01:55:19
Speaker
They were not only the right people, but they were the right people.
01:55:24
Speaker
Yeah. All I'm hearing from all of this is... um ah
01:55:31
Speaker
What's her name? Oh, God. It's late, and I'm drawing a blank. I hate it. thank you contessa like contessa hope you're i hope you had a good vacation because the world needs you back girl yeah we need you babes we need a path to victory isn't she with um she's with teacher right Is she with Contessa? Contessa? Oh, he did offer her a job and she was like... At the end of Worm.
01:55:57
Speaker
I don't think I confirmed whether was going with her or not. Yeah. Our two friends said that Citrine and Number Man talking about our friends basically on indefinite vacation and well-deserved.
01:56:11
Speaker
Yeah. Well-deserved. Take, you know, rest up. That's fine, but... It's okay. We might need you back for the robot army. yeah you know, saving the universe or saving the world. And right they did it.
01:56:24
Speaker
First, all always most important path, rebuild a Taco Bell, obviously. And then one path to victory.
01:56:35
Speaker
Just imagine Contessa on a beach using her power to like make the perfect cocktail, get the perfect pan. but yeah yeah Like we would all be using her power.
01:56:48
Speaker
Yeah, and then Number Man just steps through a portal and she's like, all right, fine. She's like, she like takes a sip and he's like, and she's like, no, no, no. yeah He's like,
01:57:02
Speaker
like I know, I know. then she like looks at him. She's like, fine. Like they don't even have to talk. Like they both know. Yes. ah I'm retired.
01:57:12
Speaker
Yeah. oh yeah just one play out if for time One last Earth saving mission. Right. ah One last. Tattletail also implies other things that are going on in the background. There's a war starting sometime this week.
01:57:31
Speaker
That's exciting. yeah A machine army that's literally on the horizon if you can see between worlds. That's exciting. And then she's like, and yeah, the fallen are a mess too. It's like, you know...
01:57:43
Speaker
They seem so small in comparison with everything else. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we kind of get that, right? we get That's the sense we get is because like, Chevalier is like, listen, I can give you the C team for like six hours, okay? That's all you can spare for the fucking Fallen. Yeah, right.
01:58:03
Speaker
Which it to our heroes is the biggest thing on the docket. So yeah there's ah there's shit's about to go down. and I love it. Scary. Ready. My body is ready.
01:58:15
Speaker
i do really like how Tattletail is like mainlining evil, you know, for the team. And the rest of the Undersiders are just all about keeping her in check.
01:58:29
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, because that was just I was just looking at this where like there's a line where Tattletail says like, ah she's like, there's a lot of people who I don't deal with. It's really hard to tell who's safe and who's not. A lot of power is in play.
01:58:42
Speaker
You guys are like 60% safe. But then she says, which I wouldn't normally work with, but if I don't deal with you, then I might lose these guys, pointing to the Undersiders. yeah Yeah. Sort of this, and and and it feels like, especially people like Foyle and Parian and Imp and maybe even Rachel to an extent are like,
01:59:00
Speaker
you know, you like Tattletail, you kind of fucked up Rain. Like, you kind of got to take, like, you got to do something about that. Like, you know. yeah Like, because then at at the end, she does come around and she's like, all right, fine. I'll just tell you where they are.
01:59:11
Speaker
If you want to give me cradle, great. Contact me later. Just, sure. I could really use him, but. like Yeah. Like, I just imagine they all see the image Tattletail is trying to be like stoic, like I did nothing wrong. And they just take her to side, like, Tattletail, come here.
01:59:27
Speaker
Like, Lisa. God damn it, Lisa. Do you see that child? Do you see He does not look well. Did you do that? Lisa!
01:59:39
Speaker
Lisa, no! Lisa, no! You're tearing me apart, Lisa.
01:59:47
Speaker
oh Excellent quote. Bravo, well done. Thank you, thank you. Yeah, um... Eventually, she's like, okay, fine. I'll just tell you where they are. If you want to give me Cradle later, that's great.
02:00:00
Speaker
They eventually find some of the Crowleys. This is where they run into... So the Crowleys are the Leviathan group, so they all have cloning-type abilities. Yeah. Part of what they deal with.
02:00:11
Speaker
um So they run into this guy who can send out force-fueled projections of himself. Also very similar to Sayre, but... Yeah, it was very similar. Whatever. don't know.
02:00:23
Speaker
Is this, are we in 6.9 or is that, is this the end of 6.8? Yeah. yeah Yeah. They, um yeah, at the end of 6.8, this is where she, yeah, she's like, hey, you should surrender to Mr. Crowley.
02:00:37
Speaker
And then he's like, all right, fine. Yes. Let me watch what happens. And that's, that's 6.8. Huh? um she my happening In my mind, the Crowley... ah oh ah Head Crowley, what's is whatever his name is there that they're fighting at the end.
02:00:53
Speaker
Crowley Brother Prime or whatever. Crowley Prime. Or something like Brett or something. Yeah, they all have normal names. Like Brett and Amanda.
02:01:05
Speaker
from Supernatural is played by the same actor who plays Badger in Firefly. And Badger in Firefly is who I'm imagining this guy as. Just like roller hat, like suit but doesn't fit him well.
02:01:20
Speaker
And just like an asshole. Like, i don't know. It's just in my mind. That's what these guys are. yeah this I'm glad you brought that up because every time Crowley is mentioned, I also think of the guy from Supernatural. And then I forgot he was also in Firefly too. That's so good.
02:01:35
Speaker
Yep. That's the face. Face of ass. Nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I see that. Yeah, this is Vince Crowley and Sabrina is his partner. Vince and Sabrina.
02:01:47
Speaker
Partner? Sister? Both? Sister? Oh, oh, okay. Well, they are cold, so. They are, you know. They're that kind What they say? Yeah. Can we just, like, not have sister fucking for, like, one day, please? No, not in this universe.
02:02:05
Speaker
but Not in this family. Yeah. keep Keeping it in the family, so to speak. Yeah. I don't like it. yeah ah You know, it's... um Oh, man.
02:02:22
Speaker
and Never mind. Never mind. It's not important. not Thought left and it's not important. Good call. Good call. Yep. Alan, did you get all your notes in?
02:02:33
Speaker
I had to do with...
02:02:36
Speaker
ah TT, Tattletail is such a deflecting little shit. um Stupid kids are stupid. you ah Talking about Dr. Mother and then... Yeah, yeah yeah where're I think we're all good to go to 6.9.
02:02:50
Speaker
all right Yeah. 6.9. Oh, it I remember the thought. It had to do with the hero in My Hero Academia who was trying to create the perfect kid to be the perfect hero after him. so Keeping it in the family.
02:03:04
Speaker
Trying to biologically create the perfect matt yeah the perfect fallen hero. Yeah. you know anyways um Perfect Crowley. The perfect Crowley.

Crisis in Boston and Character Safety

02:03:14
Speaker
6.9. six point nine ah Something big is happening in Boston.
02:03:20
Speaker
Local heroes help out and drive Victoria nuts. The Crowleys expect to see the show on the horizon. Fallen have Tinker Tech at each portal. i There's a fight to save Fenway Station, but the portal expander slice and dice the city, and Miss Yamada's fate is unknown.
02:03:38
Speaker
ah Also, Vince and Sabrina were siblings. ah Yes, yes. Damn it. Wait, I think we knew that. It's whether or not... Yeah, we knew they were siblings. We just don't know whether or not they were doing other things. Yeah, gotcha. They were forking and knifing in the silverware drawer. They Lannisters, if you will. Yeah.
02:03:57
Speaker
I mean, I'm going to guess yes. The tall tower. The cold. Yeah. All right. Everything goes down.
02:04:09
Speaker
Yep. All the shit. Yep. Yep. Yeah, it seems like they stop more than go off, but yeah plenty of them still go off. Yeah, it's still like, she didn't say all of them, but it sounded like there were around 15.
02:04:29
Speaker
Is that, am I getting that number kind of close to right? Maybe, Alan? I feel like Alan would maybe know. You say 15 portals? Yeah. Is it more or less? Am I...
02:04:41
Speaker
ah For some reason, the number 30 is in my head, but that's probably too many. Chad, how many portals are there? Yeah. yeah Someone find out in chat. Let us know. data yeah i mean there's There's a lot.
02:04:53
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, it looks like they only hit a few, but... oh I mean, it looks like they hit a lot and only a few actually exploded. was Yeah, he right. Sorry. I think they targeted like all of them.
02:05:07
Speaker
I think they did target all of them. Yeah. Yeah. They seem to target all of them. um Yeah. Because you can kind of see it's more more green than red where it's... It doesn't how many there are, though. It just says like green, green, green, red, green, red.
02:05:22
Speaker
um And then they're you know they're all like silently texting their people with like, are you okay? Are you okay? ah We don't know who made the Tinkertech yet, Bernard. um We're not aware of that. It's not mentioned. No, we don't know anything about it just yet.
02:05:35
Speaker
And thank God for Crystal still Clear. Yeah, Crystal Clear is okay. Yeah, Clear is fine. His group succeeded. Thanks, Crystal Clear. We appreciate it. Oh, I was worried about wealth for a second. Probably with Ratcatch's help.
02:05:49
Speaker
probably a wreck i got real worried about Weld there because it was just taking way too long. Weld is good. ah We hear from... i and love... ah Crystal's okay. Her team's helping.
02:06:04
Speaker
Mom is okay. She told me Amy was okay and I let her. i Did I ask about Amy? Yeah. Her dad's fine. Gilpatrick, Jasper, Ashley, and Rain are okay. Yeah, they're all okay.
02:06:18
Speaker
Pretty much every everybody we care about except for the one we care the most about, Fumehood. um I cried. I I literally was standing in the middle of this four years. Fumehood?
02:06:32
Speaker
yeah sorry I was like, we need to have another person who's killed. it I said, you know, and you went right into, Oh, I cried. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. No, I, I, yeah, no. About Miss Yama.
02:06:46
Speaker
Oh yeah. No, I stood in the middle of the floor and I just kind of bawled for a little bit. Cause was like waiting for, for us to like confirm or deny. and then, and then it was just like, well, we just don't know. And like,
02:07:01
Speaker
it It's funny because on the one hand, ah brilliant. Because we've we've we've talked all that like for weeks now. We've been saying, like man, they're really setting up for like one of our one of our like group here to die or get it or something like that. And then of course then he goes after Yamada, which I think was his brilliant writing.
02:07:18
Speaker
On the other hand, dirty style while I did have like a little audible like, oh, ah no. you know Great writing. It got me. I was thinking... As he's going through the list, I would have been more upset with Weld or anybody else in that group that was going off with the exception of Victoria's mom would have been fine. We all would have been happy for her. If Amy ended up caught in the blast, what would be your dance?
02:07:51
Speaker
out of Would it be like a... It'd be just like a or you would have been yeah for me For me, it would you know it just be the you know the ah scene it's like at the end of Gladiator where the guy like drops him, buries the little figurine and he's like, now we are free. Finally. Yeah, it's just
02:08:16
Speaker
and and your play i do yeah it's just i i I feel like this was the easier answer in terms of, and again, fate unknown. if We'll find out.
02:08:27
Speaker
But in terms of that, yeah same with Rain being, like i I thought there was a chance reading this this arc that he was, that they got him. yeah was Yeah, I thought he was about to eat it. And again, the same the same thing. I was like, man, that's sad, but like that's the safe answer, right? He was kind of an bastard.
02:08:45
Speaker
i I will say, yeah, that that initial scene where she describes Sveta holding what's left of rain and you see Cradle and a man with cleavers. And I'm like, oh, he got no arms and legs, does he?
02:08:57
Speaker
Yeah, he did. He killed your brother. He's like a stub of a body. He's like a stub of a body. and that music well she describes She describes um like ribbons of skin hanging off of him. well it's and It's not until the next arc where she describes his injuries.
02:09:15
Speaker
It's not until the next. it's like at that end of that arc she's like, he's holding the breath of rain. And I'm like, oh, he dead. Oh, he's not breathing either. I just assumed that was the of him. died. I got better.
02:09:26
Speaker
oh yeah no i assumed that was the end of him which valid i died ah got better
02:09:34
Speaker
I got better. Yeah, I'm very, ah very curious to see where the where the story goes. but A very, a good, ah good ah unknown for our characters.
02:09:45
Speaker
Yeah. yeah It's got me prepped. this is This is the first time where I, so far in Ward, where I was like, I can't wait to read the next arc. Let's go.
02:09:56
Speaker
yeah um I restrain myself from listening to the next chapter. Very into it. I have been saving the last couple chapters for like Tuesday mornings. That's when I saw like I read it this morning and I think I'm to keep that. I listened to them all yesterday and today.
02:10:12
Speaker
Partially because of procrastination and partially because it's kind of fun to like binge it right before podcasting. It is. yeah It also is helpful with the memory. Brush in the noggin. Yep. yep yeahp I did have to, I had to click back and forth a couple of times to make sure there wasn't an interlude I missed. Cause I was like, it goes straight from 6.9 to 7.1. And I was like, wait a second.
02:10:32
Speaker
Yeah. I will say I liked that there wasn't an interlude with this because it, it, yeah it doesn't pay seem take away from the tension at the end of the arc. It just is going to go right into the next one, which I do. I think is a good move.
02:10:49
Speaker
I do have to get to my Chris line of the chapter. Yes, yes, yes. we love it Or rather, lack of a line. ah Giving ah orders over the phone, over their walkie-talkies whatever, going Capricorn good, Lix good.
02:11:04
Speaker
ah I'll head there. dotda Chris, there was a wet sound over the phone. I think he ate the phone, Lix said. i hope he uneats it before he changes back or he's going to need each either surgery or a slot-shaped butthole.
02:11:18
Speaker
it's Oh my gosh. It's so good. um Whatever form Chris took was just like, oh eat the phone.
02:11:29
Speaker
oh america Oh, fantastic. We have fun here. We do. And we have fun here. Yep.
02:11:41
Speaker
So, ah Yeah, what... um Yeah, Fran mentioned, thank God Chris gave him that thing to save him, whatever it was. Two plus four, you're right. It was a coagulant is what was named. Right. Yes, the coagulant. Which is a coagulant, which, you know, basically is meant to stop your stop up your blood to make you stop bleeding very quickly. Yeah.
02:12:02
Speaker
We did skip over that, but yeah, just to quickly go back to that, because we mentioned that... um We mentioned that Chris has talked about how he but like fell apart the first time. yeah but like he's He's got a full body repair kit on him. Yeah.
02:12:17
Speaker
Uh-huh. but Ready to go. chair I just got to say coagulation, great map in Halo 2. Oh my God. Yep. Not wrong. i I'm upset that it has taken us too long to bring up the super magic dream parade oh yeah the the capes that were and colorful ones oh my god oh the colorful ones from 6.8 oh my god you mean magic knight crash rainbow impaler and paler dynamite warrior dash fantastic yes dynamite warrior dash fantastic i i hate it but i love it so much it's so cool
02:13:03
Speaker
I have a feeling that we just get like eight bingos in chat. Was that what everyone was waiting for? um like I feel like that's one of those things. I haven't had any bingos yet. I know. That's what I keep thinking about the bingo. I've been sitting on a bingo, but I'm surprised nobody else has. We are about 50% on the bingo sheet.
02:13:22
Speaker
Man, we missed a bunch here. We missed lot. that's what I was thinking. I'll take better notes. Yeah, they were great. we did We did go right by them, but easily best named group of the entire universe.
02:13:33
Speaker
So, well done. So cool. And all the colors. And, like, they're they're they' cap ah their their costumes, I mean, are, like, built for the aesthetic, not for the practicality. Like,
02:13:46
Speaker
Victoria has thought about like practicality and also like the cool factor and like whatever. But she's also thinking about like what's going to protect her in a fight? What's going to like keep her secret identity by having like a darker hood or whatever?
02:13:59
Speaker
And they're just like, ha ha ha.
02:14:04
Speaker
Colorful again. I love it so much. They've got so much of the the anime-ass tropes, right? Like Magic Knight Crash has four belts, not including straps at his arm and thigh. And I'm like, that's such an anime thing of just like useless belts everywhere. Also, one of the girls, she's got um she's got a crop top, but it's an armored crop top. And then she's got like nothing covering her midsection.
02:14:30
Speaker
And Victoria's just like, ah what's the point of the armor? Like, it's just useless. Ah, looks like we just got our first bingo. Hey, there we go. Magic Trio talking about Rain getting friend-zoned, praise the camera drop, and calling out Tattletail for being a shit.
02:14:51
Speaker
Yep, yeah. I mean, technically, you called out Tattletail for being a shit. I'll take it. Tattletail is a shit. Yep. I mean, we would have gotten it. It's a fleck. I love that.
02:15:02
Speaker
I love her. Free space. I will take no notes. Yeah. ah Do we hear their actual team name in here? What is this team's name? This this trio? The three of them? Super Magic Dream Parade.
02:15:14
Speaker
Magic Dream Parade? Is that their actual name? Super Magic Dream Parade. Yep. Super Magic Dream Parade. Super Magic Dream Parade. What's the one?
02:15:26
Speaker
Isn't there a band that's got something about not exploding kittens, but there's like a... Rainbow Kitten Surprise? Yeah. It's giving Rainbow Kitten Surprise. It really is.
02:15:37
Speaker
it is. Although Rainbow Kitten Surprise is way more chill than Super Magic Dream Parade. Super Magic Dream Parade, assemble! I hear Rainbow Kitten Surprise.
02:15:50
Speaker
I assume the music is essentially Nyan Cat. Like just on an electric guitar. but um yeah And instead it's acoustic.
02:16:02
Speaker
the ah I assume that the the Super Magic Dream Parade have the like magical girl transformation music when they like get up and suit up into character. like There's a whole thing. like Everything else stops so they can be like, assemble! they all touch their you know gems on their you know necklaces and then they... Yeah, 100%. There's a wild blow explanation for it too, which is that...
02:16:24
Speaker
yeah hundred percent so there's an there's a wildlow explanation for it too which is that um that they are going into a break a breaker state and that they become invulnerable during the transformation process into the breaker state, which is how they're able to maintain their normal persona and then instantly become like costumed out
02:16:48
Speaker
um without having to take damage because they're just invulnerable during that period. That's interesting. i I made that up. I have no fucking clue. Oh my gosh. That's what I was saying. It's like my wild no explanation.
02:17:03
Speaker
That's your wild no explanation. know We got another, i got a double bingo right now. Double bingos. Two bingos. Also the first one, ah bingo from Wonderland. Second one, bingo from Waldo. Here we go.
02:17:20
Speaker
We got calling out Tattletoe for being a ship. Jacob compares something to a movie. People who know ah people know who the bird boy is. Praise for the camera drop.
02:17:30
Speaker
Morning Yamada. Hannah cries. I don't know if I count that one. Hannah didn't cry. should You know what? I'll give it to you this time, but next time Hannah has to cry on screen. I'll make On screen. Oh, I teared up earlier.
02:17:43
Speaker
I tried to cover it up, though, because, you know. and She always grabs her hat. like she always grabs her hat
02:17:51
Speaker
When she's trying to hide it, she's like, Michael! And then she stretches a little bit. always lean back because I don't want you guys to see how red eyes get. She leans back and grabs her head. I'll put my hat down. And I usually do this motion. God damn it, Michael! Wow! Nailed it!
02:18:07
Speaker
Holy shit! Well done. He's just waiting for to cry on camera so you can monetize it. And lastly, the Alan non-sequitur. Alan non-sequitur.
02:18:19
Speaker
Yes, very good. ah Very good. I will say, for these this trio, ah of their names, the word Impaler does...
02:18:31
Speaker
It feels a little like... like It reminded me of... um i don't know if you guys know Shin Comics, but he has this one where it's like this villain. He's like, you'll never stop me, super dorks. And one of them's like, that's where you're wrong, Evil Duel. We'll stop you with the powers of friendship, harmony, incredible violence, and love.
02:18:48
Speaker
They have the member incredible violence. And it feels like that where it's like... you know Magic Knight Crash, Dynamite Warrior Dash Fantastic, and Mystic Magic Impaler.
02:19:01
Speaker
Mystic Magic Impaler. Impaler. Going back to the bingo, this is how I know that some of you weren't around for the beginning of the stream, because as soon as the stream started, there was a cat right here crawling up and down.
02:19:18
Speaker
So I know some of y'all... weren't there at the beginning. was here and I didn't even see it. I look for that shit. Otherwise, y'all would have gotten a couple of another bingo. But as it stands, Woldau has yet a third bingo.
02:19:32
Speaker
ah Talking about Rain getting friend zoned, people know the bird voice, Hanny cries, and look how far Bitch has come. ah ah Well done. Well done. Perfect. We love Bitch.
02:19:44
Speaker
Very good. very Very nice. Perfect place to wrap it up. going to say, let's wrap it up. Let's do and go predictions. was to say, let's do predictions to start with Yamada gone and the portal.
02:19:58
Speaker
Hold on. Unconfirmed. Unconfirmed. I'm sorry. Allegedly. Please. yeah ummada Yamada triggered. She's fine. Not dead yet. Yeah, she's fine. Yamada triggered. It's like a broken trigger. She's just a field of therapy that like everybody within that area suddenly feels better. It's the heart of therapy.
02:20:21
Speaker
Yeah. There you go. Nothing happened to Yamada yet. until i Listen, until I know you're certain, ah doesn't it's not true.
02:20:34
Speaker
I have a real prediction. I have a real prediction. Yes. So we know that there's been a war brewing between Earthsea, because I can't remember the word for it, with the religious superheroes who run that world, right? they've It's been mentioned it's a theocratic Earth. run Like they're a theocratic core there.
02:20:56
Speaker
The fallen have just opened portals all throughout the city. What do the fallen and that group have in common? Right. They're both theocratic cultic groups.
02:21:09
Speaker
I think there's potential that the fallen have connected with this group on this other earth and the fallen were compelled into opening these portals to start the war.
02:21:24
Speaker
I think that. Compelled? Interesting. Compelled like in the sense of like we're allies, like we're going to help you take over this earth. Not like we're forcing you to basically.
02:21:35
Speaker
Right, right, right. But yeah, like we're allies. We're going to work together. Like we're going to make this world a better place for God. Like we're going to bring God's kingdom to this center sinful city, you know, kind of thing. And the in the see, that's Earthsea saying that like we'll bring justice to God, this sinful city.
02:21:51
Speaker
And the fallen are just like, hell yeah, brother. Hell yeah, brother. And then they winnie. don I don't like horses the use of that word. Hey, winnie. Hell yeah, brother. and yeah Yeah, brother.
02:22:11
Speaker
Exactly. Exactly, Michael. dan So that's one of my predictions is that this is a setup for that earth to invade this city. And that the fallen are working with them.
02:22:21
Speaker
I like it. Interesting. That's my big prediction. Yeah, no, I like it. and like it too. Yeah, I think i think you're onto something for sure. I don't know how to predict a war.
02:22:33
Speaker
So I will simply say it does fit the Machine Army because the Machine Army is the one we've actually gotten a bit of taste of with the interlude with ah what's his name?
02:22:46
Speaker
No box. little pet thing. Dot. with Dot. um yeah Dot. Thank you. yeah Sweet baby Dot. Feels like the the machine army feels like our like White Walkers in this story where they're just the the the the pending apocalypse that's coming and nothing can stop it type of thing. So I'm curious to see if that yeah plays out at all.
02:23:07
Speaker
Interesting. But in the short term I like that idea of the Fallen working with ah another Earth. Very interesting. And I'm on team Yamada. Yeah. yeah We have two um have two more bingos from Wonderland. They all happen at the end.
02:23:31
Speaker
yeah Calling out Tattletoe for being a shit. Morning Yamada. Fistib called out for being horny. Jacob compares something to be a movie. And then the praise for the magic trio. Mama Mathers scary. boy ah People know who the bird boy is. And Jacob could compares something to a movie.
02:23:46
Speaker
but i Very nice. very nice i For some reason, i just want this. I think I'm hoping that Dragon and or Defiant make an appearance in the next arc. i'd love that a wild fun I don't know why, but I feel like i'm i'm due we're due for that for some reason. like i just we do We know they're up and up. They've got to be working with... And tiered coin, Jacob.
02:24:14
Speaker
Yeah, to your point, Jacob, if anyone could stop the machine army, we know who it is. Exactly. Bring them back. Come on. Yeah. Ooh, unless... Unless... What if the Machine Army is being run by one of Dragon's siblings?
02:24:31
Speaker
Ooh. Never mind. like it. I'm back in. Manhunter, or... I'm trying to remember any of the others. Ooh, that would be cool. but it was Yep. A little... Speaking of sibling action, sibling on sibling action, you know. Yeah.
02:24:45
Speaker
What if Dragon... What Wait, were are you suggesting that Dragon and all of her AI siblings were a kiss kill trigger? Oh, oh. i I don't think they all trigger, but there might be a second one.
02:25:02
Speaker
Yeah. Because, I mean, we know that the ah technically, you know, um Dragon and ah Pandora went head to head, right? Yeah. They fused, kind of, right?
02:25:17
Speaker
made Made New Dragon. sort of issues Left up to interpretation. yeah Yeah. Left to interpretation. ah Bernard asks, any updates on which character is the most worrisome and whether Rain or Ashley would be convicted for murder?
02:25:35
Speaker
I feel like both, again, given the circumstances, I feel like both could get off. um yeah They're not getting convicted. Yeah, solely for... the The issue is more going to be... The issue is more going to be, like, are they now so good-hearted they turn themselves in? Like, that's where they they seem like they're wanting to go.
02:26:00
Speaker
But I don't think a conviction is going to happen because I think a bunch of portals just blew up in the city and they've got bigger fish to fry. Like, I think yeah any sort of conviction or jail time is going to happen way later down the road.
02:26:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, not exactly at the ah the forefront. yeah yeah i do i do Yeah. I do think Kenzie's still i think probably a top of the list for biggest problem of the group, but we'll see.
02:26:29

Come, we need that dinner with Robot Packs. Yeah. i know i I'm going to say that I think Victoria might be. Reason why. ah do like i think she's getting pretty close to Kraken.
02:26:41
Speaker
I feel like she's talked a lot about all the stress she's carrying. Yeah. And I think I think that each of the other people have their own issues, but Victoria is trying to take on all the weight of everybody and trying to help everybody.
02:26:56
Speaker
I feel like she... She's going to retch someone. Might be close to cracking. She might retch somebody. Yeah. yeah yeah that's a Yeah, that's a good thought. She's she's also, and this arc and the arc previously, she's had a couple times when like her own emotions just kind of like...
02:27:15
Speaker
rage out and she kind of like sees red for She's had couple Hulk smash moments. She's had a couple Hulk smash moments where I've been surprised at the amount of like so much so of that like emotional switch that I've wondered if she's been a and she's being manipulated by somebody else.
02:27:33
Speaker
And then like the story keeps going. I'm like, oh, I guess she wasn't. She was just feeling things like that. I don't know. it it Yeah, it makes me a little worried. i I'm still, Kenzie's still kind of top of the list, but Chris is right.
02:27:50
Speaker
I think Chris and Kenzie might be tied in my head right now as for who might be the biggest problem. Chris, just because he's such a big question mark, like there's so many things we just don't know.

Exciting Powers and Upcoming Events

02:28:00
Speaker
Like Kenzie, because we still know so much and it's still problematic.
02:28:04
Speaker
like like Like you said, I'm looking i'm looking forward to to the dinner because I think that's going to Add some more light. You know.
02:28:16
Speaker
All right. Before we head out then. ah Favorite powers real quick.
02:28:23
Speaker
Ooh. Man. There's some good ones. There's some good ones. Sarah is probably the most Sarah and I'll tie in. I'll give an honorable mention to the lizard girl as well with the teleportation clone.
02:28:36
Speaker
Yeah. um Yeah. But Sarah is definitely the cool one of like Shadow clones, shadows running around everywhere, switching places with him at the last second. Like, it's... That's pretty cool.
02:28:49
Speaker
And also just Operator Red. don't know. Operator Red is... ah Yeah. Like, I don't... um but He doesn't do much, but he's just a combat thinker good with knives, and that's kind of cool.
02:29:00
Speaker
Yeah. I like him a lot. I think he's really cool. um ah guy The The Crowley dude... i can't remember his name. Vince.
02:29:13
Speaker
Vince. Vince. Thank you, Vince. um Vince's whole thing with the... ah He made like a hundred floating pieces of rubble and mailbox and glass and whatever.
02:29:25
Speaker
And they're kind of all whatever until they overlap and then the cross section of the shadow things overlapping becomes super solid. I think that's really cool. Like being able to utilize that in cool ways and...
02:29:42
Speaker
Like the... It's not a big deal until they start all clumping together and then we have a problem. thought that was cool. Yeah. I really liked the... um And I can't remember the the the fallen girl's name towards the end, but who sort of had it like the...
02:29:59
Speaker
but Was it Sabrina who has the wave of... yeah Is that Sabrina? Oh, okay. The wave that she can select who's affected, but if you're affected, it's a bet. You can swim around, like fly around in her bubble. yeah It felt kind of like like what like being in water. like When you do like yeah jump, then you get to... But I got the sense that you were way more maneuverable because they mentioned like she's like s slight like dashing around and everything like that. So it's like you can fly and this little bubble, which is kind of cool.
02:30:29
Speaker
And then, which is not a little bubble. It's like a hundred foot. No, yeah. It says it's like it fills the whole room. yeah And it like pushes out. It like becomes a wave, doesn't it? So you can like, as long as you're riding the wave. You ride the wave, yeah.
02:30:41
Speaker
A flying ability until it dissipates. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, fun. That was cool. Very

Conclusion and Future Reading Plans

02:30:46
Speaker
fun. power Cradle gets an honorable mention. We knew a bit about him before this, but got to see him in action finally, so. Yeah. Yeah.
02:30:53
Speaker
Yeah.
02:30:56
Speaker
Uh, mine goes to the, the old switcheroo. i really liked that stone power. Uh, that's fun. That's fun. Yeah. All right. Well, with that all done, ah it is time to end this.
02:31:10
Speaker
We will be reading arc 7.1 to 7.5. All right. Gotcha. So first half, it is a little bit longer again, so we'll break this one up.
02:31:23
Speaker
ah We'll be reading a 7.1 to 7.5. So the first half of arc 7. Just as a point of order, Alan, all-knowing ward master.
02:31:36
Speaker
So yes that is on my the table of contents, it's 7.1 through 7.4. And then there's a split for a bunch of ah interlude arcs. Oh, you're right. There is. And then it goes to 7.5. How many is a bunch of interludes?
02:31:50
Speaker
It's like eight. Eight interludes? You know what? You know what? We'll just, let's do the 7.4 then. We'll do, we'll do that. Yeah. Cause I was, I'll be honest. I was looking at the, the wiki for this when I was splitting it up.
02:32:06
Speaker
ah Not the word, word count, which I should have been doing. um So ah we'll split it up and that should be around only around 20.
02:32:18
Speaker
That's not only around 20,000. Yeah, we'll make it a light week and then the next two will be heavier little heavier. little thicker. I heavier. They're like 52,000 and like 60,000.
02:32:29
Speaker
Yeah, that's fine. But this will be our light week. Then we'll just read the four um and we'll come back on what day? The 22nd. In two weeks. In two weeks.
02:32:43
Speaker
22nd, baby. All right. Two weeks. and And if we do anything in between, we'll let you know, patrons. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. yeah But I don't know.
