Introduction and Derek's Move

00:00:00
Speaker
Happy Thursday everybody and welcome to another episode of predetermined a pro wrestling hangout I'm your host Garrett calendar and with me as always a man who is no longer recording from the same room that he used to Because he moved over the weekend and I bet he's a little tired from it Derek Alpin. I'm cranky How much sleep you get? I've been getting plenty of sleep, but I'm cranky cuz I've been busy and I don't like it Well, hopefully you unearth some good wrestling stuff during the move things that maybe you forgot about
00:00:28
Speaker
Uh, I hung up my, my, uh, best of the Indies, uh, wrestling poster that I got at pro wrestling T's. So I've got Kevin Steen and Adam Cole, uh, greet me when I walk in my new room. I love that. I love that. That's who I want to greet me when I come into a room. Yeah. So it's a, it's a good thing.

WrestleMania Excitement

00:00:45
Speaker
And we're getting closer and closer to WrestleMania, man. So how can it not be in a good mood? Come on. Oh, baby. WrestleMania is upon us. No, hit our goddamn music.
00:01:31
Speaker
We're back with another episode, everyone. This is exciting shit. Oh, I have some great stories for

Jerry Lawler's Restaurant Experience

00:01:39
Speaker
you. Over the weekend, I went to Jerry the King Lawler's restaurant in Memphis so that you don't have to.
00:01:50
Speaker
And you will thank me for this. Well, I expect you to have a bunch of great stories for this episode of the podcast. But first, I think we should start by saying, hey, guys, thank you for listening to the podcast. If you have been, if you're new, this is your first episode. Make sure to hit us up on the social media. You can follow us at at Wrestle Hangout on Twitter and at Wrestle Hangout on Facebook.
00:02:13
Speaker
and at Predetermined Podcast on Instagram, where we post a lot of pictures and videos from wrestling shows that we attend. And I'll be doing a bunch of stuff this coming Mania weekend, so be sure to check that out. I'll be posting from just a ton of shows all over New Orleans.
00:02:29
Speaker
We also put up polls and stuff occasionally there. We like to interact with you guys. So there's a whole bunch of different ways you can get in touch with us and we can get in touch with you and get in touch with each other and a whole lot of touching. A lot of touching, man, because God damn it, we love wrestling and we just want to talk to you. We'll talk about any wrestling. Let's. Oh.
00:02:47
Speaker
We should just get into it though, this Jerry Lawler place, man. Yeah, man. You have stories, you met some people, you drove. I didn't even, I think I knew in passing that Jerry Lawler had a restaurant in Memphis, but I don't know anything about it. And what kind of made you want to make this trek, make this drive to go over there and see what kind of food Jerry Lawler's restaurant serves up?
00:03:16
Speaker
Have you ever just not had anything to do for a weekend and you think, I should drive three hours and have an overnight trip just to eat at the shittiest restaurant I've ever been to in my life? Is that like a summary? I guess that is a little bit of a summary. Spoiler alert, I'm not going to bury the lead there. This place is not good.
00:03:35
Speaker
Okay, so it is in Memphis, it's right on Beale Street. If you don't know, Beale Street is kind of the main place that everybody's going to in Memphis, or at least a tourist attraction, like where all the bars and everything are. It is right dead center in the middle of that, so prime location.
00:03:55
Speaker
So there should be an expectation that like if it's on Beale Street like it should be good, right? Like you would think it would be up to the standard of a person on vacation that's been drinking that maybe wants to get some okay food. Like I would think that the rent on this area would be so expensive that you don't have room to be shitty.
00:04:16
Speaker
Well, maybe the rent is so expensive that that's why it is shitty. I mean, they're spending all the money on that and nothing else. Okay. Okay. So I should say, initially we went, we were going to celebrate my birthday in Memphis, my wife and I, and she wanted to take me somewhere for a surprise. I had a good sense that that's where we were headed because I figure any surprise for me has to involve professional wrestling. And that was the one thing I knew that was there.
00:04:47
Speaker
How was the restroom the restroom Holy shit, man, like I know like I That's a big thing for you. I love a good restroom I I will say right outside the restroom is a naked picture of Jerry the King Lawler with a crown over his dick, huh? I Know yeah
00:05:07
Speaker
so this is like so there's a lot i guess i should just go from the beginning we peek through the window and see that maybe there's three tables the restaurant is fairly good size there is a uh there's a guy playing guitar and playing some some you know some rock and roll that that started in memphis
00:05:25
Speaker
Yeah, that's a Memphis thing to do. That's a Memphis thing. But we walk into this place, there's a bunch of his robes hanging from the ceiling, so I'm like, okay, cool. Because this place is also called, it's the Jerry the King Lawler Bar Restaurant and Hall of Fame.
00:05:42
Speaker
So when I hear Hall of Fame, I'm like, OK, he's probably got, you know, I don't know, you know, you picture like a museum or something. Right. At least like some autographs from people who's worked with and people who were like a big deal like them, the Memphis territory.
00:05:59
Speaker
And I can't say that that didn't happen. That was there. Was there any Andy Kaufman stuff there? That was probably the biggest part. Like there's kind of a mural right as you go in that are pictures of him and Andy grappling and then them on the the Letterman chairs.
00:06:15
Speaker
you know, David and everything. I call him David like we're pals. I don't think I've ever referred to David Letterman as David. Well, now that he's retired, now he's your buddy. Yeah, now he's my buddy, David. The show is the David Letterman show, but everybody calls him Dave, right? Who the fuck do I think I am? Not you, David.
00:06:34
Speaker
David that's where we're at right now man me and me and David So you saw the Andy Kaufman the Letterman set essentially a picture of that yeah They had like a picture of that and then this was the weirdest thing like I guess this is the Hall of Fame possibly The place is just covered in 8 by 10s unframed 8 by 10s Okay, that clearly Jerry had gathered over the years from you know just the merch table
00:07:02
Speaker
right some of them are signed some of them are not and then you know like maybe every five pictures there's one of John Cena it's a really odd mix of wrestlers but they did have a couple cases of stuff
00:07:17
Speaker
They had a couple different cases with some of, you know, Jerry's original boots, like his crowns, some AWA belts, but all of these cases are positioned right against tables so that if you want to look into these, you can't without just like standing over somebody eating. That seems inconvenient as hell. It is inconvenient, but it's a little more convenient if no one's in the restaurant, so it wasn't too bad.
00:07:43
Speaker
Too bad there they did have a couple TVs with old like you know what looked about You know 70s era wrestling all right, so that was kind of nice, but uh goddamn we get the menu and What's what's on the menu man like it is diner food it is a burger I? Didn't I got Jerry Lawler's favorite tendies I
00:08:08
Speaker
And I feel like I need to give a shout out to my buddies in the Tender Friends podcast. Old pal of mine has a podcast called Tender Friends. They go and review chicken tenders from various restaurants. God damn it. So shout out to you, Eric. I ate some tendies for you. And they were Jerry's favorite tendies. How were the tendies? The least questionable thing of the entire evening.
00:08:32
Speaker
They put some kind of Cajun rub on them that was fine. Like the Bullet Club, these tendies were fine. And in the same capacity that the Bullet Club is fine, is the same capacity that these tenders were fine. They weren't really fine? They're whatever. Yeah, but they're not really fine. They're not fine. They're not fine. But they should sell t-shirts there. They're like, Jerry's favorite tendies are fine. They're okay.
00:09:02
Speaker
Okay, so... Okay, but Leah, Leah orders the battle royal nachos. She orders them with pork. They say we don't have that. She says okay. So when they bring us, I guess I should say the couple next to us, very few people in this restaurant, they sat us right next to another couple. Like, we're very, very close. And I saw these people get their food.
00:09:24
Speaker
And when I saw this man's burger sit down in front of him, it took everything I had not to just start crying, laughing. I have never seen a burger more burnt in my entire life than what they brought him. And they had the bun off so you could see it. It wasn't like they even tried to hide that they fucked this thing up.
00:09:43
Speaker
Like, it was, like, hard? Oh, it was charred. It was charred. And the guy goes, hey, where's the sauce? And she goes, what sauce? There's no sauce. And he goes, it says right here on the menu Jerry's special sauce. And she's like, oh, that's not a thing. It's like, he's like, well, it's written right here. And he just looked sad. And after about three bites, I watched him cover his burger with a napkin.
00:10:11
Speaker
Wow. As if this has died. It is sad to look at. It is making me feel bad feelings. How do you go to a diner restaurant and they fuck up a burger? Visibly, this burger is just charred to hell. Shortly after they get theirs, we get our food.
00:10:37
Speaker
And I have to- I have to say this. This is a quote from the man who put the food on our table. Okay? Our food's really good. Everything's fresh. Or everything's made fresh. He said everything is made fresh. Sat this down in front of me.
00:10:56
Speaker
I have eyeballs. I'm not Gordon Ramsay, but I do have eyes and can just look at something. And, you know, like, okay, Leah got the Battle Royal nachos. This was definitely just, you know, machine cheese, the kind you'd get at a gas station or a movie theater. Oh, yeah, it was pump cheese. And then on top of that covered in barbecue sauce and cold chicken.
00:11:22
Speaker
I couldn't even be mad at the food because it was like the food was daring me to get mad at it. Like how could you be mad at something so shitty? What were the prices like on this stuff? Like how much for the tendies? I think I paid about 10.99. Or wait, maybe the nachos were like 10 and the tendies were like seven or eight bucks. Like you know.
00:11:45
Speaker
I did take a picture of the menu, maybe I'll put that on the Instagram for you guys. Yeah. So you can really check this out. Are we going to upset Jerry Lawler by talking shit about his restaurant? Like I said, I will talk positively all day about wrestling, but nothing makes me more angry than when somebody thinks opening a restaurant is going to be easy and then serves me dog shit.
00:12:10
Speaker
And you drove three hours to get to this restaurant. I couldn't even be mad at it. Oh my God. I forgot to mention this. Well, we ordered beers at the beginning. Those never came. I never saw those. Uh, but we charged for them. No, but we did get a couple waters. The water undrinkable. What? It tasted like soap. Like I'm not even convinced it was water. I took like two sips. I had to go somewhere else to get water after that was over. Huh.
00:12:40
Speaker
Did you get worked? I feel like I did. And there was a sign out front that said, hey, coming on this date, Mick Foley's here to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. He's getting inducted into that Jerry Lawler Hall of Fame. And I was like, there's no way Mick Foley knows what the inside of this place looks like. And he's showing up for it. And he's going to show up and get inducted into this restaurant.
00:13:04
Speaker
And I used restaurant lightly based on the food. Oh, I did ask the people that were sitting next to us. I was looking at Liam like, I have to talk to them. I have to know what got them here. And I was like, excuse me before you leave. How was your food? And they're like, oh my God, it was terrible.
00:13:23
Speaker
And then he went in and explained all of his burger stuff and like, well, what brought you in? Are you wrestling fans? Is that what got you through the door? And they're like, Oh no, I, we don't watch wrestling at all. I was like, well, what got you in here? Like we tried to go to BB Kings next door, but it was an hour wait. That's even sadder. I bet, I bet you the burger at BB Kings is pretty good. I, I trust BB King with my burger.
00:13:49
Speaker
He looked like a man who could- Actually, you know what? The king looked like he should have been able to make me a good burger.
00:13:55
Speaker
I don't know. I mean, who do you reach out to about something like that? I mean, would you say something about this story? Would you tell this story to Jerry the King Lawler to his face? I mean, I know you would because that's the kind of person you are. You're brave like that. You're willing to take on Brock Lesnar. There's no way you wouldn't be willing to tell Jerry the King Lawler that he runs a shit restaurant.
00:14:21
Speaker
Tell him that he overcharged for the tendies. Hey, man, the tendies were fine. They were fine. Those battle royal nachos. God damn. Oh, man. I believe it was somebody text me afterwards. It was a friend of the show Dalton.
00:14:37
Speaker
said, it doesn't surprise me that that man runs his restaurant like his life or something like that. He's like, that's how I imagine that man's restaurant would be. It's a metaphor. It made me wonder what his house looked like. I'm picturing, you know, a lot of soiled affliction t-shirts and empty hungry man dinner trays.
00:14:57
Speaker
You see, I think it's just, I think it's fair to question. I guess if it's a museum, if it's a Hall of Fame, I mean, you would think that there were, like you said, that there would be some kind of standard that they would actually hold themselves to that would like be like, I don't know.
00:15:13
Speaker
I mean, it doesn't have to be like a five-star restaurant, but you would expect them to be able to at least cook up a decent burger and not fuck that up. Well, I would, okay, this is what I, I'm calling out Jerry the King Lawler right now, and I'm saying- Do it! Next time, The Rock is in Memphis, and you are also in Memphis, invite him to eat at your restaurant. You two sit across from each other, make direct eye contact while you eat that food, and you tell me you're not a little bit ashamed of yourself.
00:15:44
Speaker
Do you want your money back? No, I don't because I had such a good time. I don't know. To me, it's sad as a guy who likes going and trying new like places to eat. And I don't know. I mean, it seems like Jerry the King Lawler would run an establishment that has food that I'm into. And you would think and you would. I also kind of figured it was going to be barbecue or something. Yeah. The South, it's Memphis. It's
00:16:12
Speaker
No, no, it was just kind of like, it was diner food. And I almost thought about ordering a piece of cake. And just because I'm like, I gotta see what, if this is what they're bringing out and saying it's fresh. They just reach into like a fucking, like a little Debbie box and pull out one of those cakes and throw it on like a tiny plate, stick a candle on that some bitch. It said it was like, I believe it actually said it was like the King's homemade
00:16:42
Speaker
like strawberry cake or something. And I believe I was like, oh, I've got to see this. It's my birthday. I've got to order cake or my birthday's coming up at least. And Leah was like, I bet if you order that they don't even have it. I believe that. I mean, if the burger was supposed to have special sauce, I mean, you could order the King's strawberry cake and they they could just bring you out a slice of chocolate cake and be like, we don't have that.
00:17:08
Speaker
like what are you talking about strawberry cake like Jesus Christ man I'm so sorry no no I'm not I had a great time like are you kidding me I'd rather it be bad than good I guess for the sake of the story but like you went there expecting like a decent meal right no I mean I expect that's almost worse on you
00:17:32
Speaker
Well, I guess I went there at least hoping the Hall of Fame would be cool. I didn't realize the Hall of Fame was a series of 8x10s. And we're talking like stuff that I could just go buy off the internet, right? Absolutely. Like, I could go to WrestleCon and get you every single one of those pictures. Or I could just go to Goddamn Jerry Lawler's restaurant and take it off. It's not like they're attached to anything but, like, taped.
00:17:53
Speaker
You know, like they're not framed. There's loose on the wall. What I need you to do is go back and count the number of John Cena pictures you can find on the wall. Oh, yeah. I mean, if you played a drinking game like that, it would be really hard because they would never bring you your beer. I was waiting for the punch line.
00:18:15
Speaker
So you're saying you'll take me someday? Absolutely. Like, you better believe next time you and I are in Memphis, whenever that may be, we're eating at the Kings because it's right next to the arena. So if we're there, it's probably for wrestling. What are you going to do if you go back and your next experience there is fucking awesome? Then I'll have to make an apology.
00:18:35
Speaker
Or do you have to go a third time? Wait, wait, no, no. I don't have to apologize. He served me dog shit. You went there with the expectation that it might be dog shit. Well, I didn't think it was gonna be that fucking bad. Like, I didn't... Sir, are you mad or not? I'm not mad because it was so funny. But it is a little upsetting that his food's so fucking bad.
00:18:56
Speaker
So if you had a choice for Jerry Lotto's restaurant between it being a mediocre like okay experience or like the fucking train wreck that it is, which of those two experiences would you have rather had? Okay, if you are going out and you're worried about like where your money is gonna go for a meal and that you're gonna leave full and satisfied, this is not the place for you.
00:19:21
Speaker
Now it's just turned into like fuck. It's a grub hub review.
00:19:32
Speaker
Like if you're going and you're like, I want to eat at a shithole where I can look at a lot of eight by tens of Alberto del Rio. This is exactly where you want to go. The employees very nice. The music was fine. The robes hanging above you look like they've been there a while. I don't know. But this place, it was it was something else. And
00:19:53
Speaker
like i said i went there so you don't have to you now know what this place has to offer you you know the water's poison you're not getting a beer and you can see a mostly nude version of the king right in front of the bathroom door and later on that night after you've digested some of the food a little bit you'll be in the bathroom and you'll be up against the toilet and you'll be making a certain noise oh no
00:20:25
Speaker
Okay, so speaking of Shane do we need to apologize didn't he get a hernia he has like diverticulitis

WrestleMania Plans and Predictions

00:20:32
Speaker
now Okay, so there's this is what gets me So they work an angle where he's pretend hurt Then he gets diverticulitis
00:20:46
Speaker
He's in the hospital for real, and all the reports that I read are that WrestleMania is in jeopardy. He's probably not gonna be able to go, because I mean, fuck, how many days away are we now that we're recording this? It's less than two weeks. It's like a week and a half.
00:21:01
Speaker
Yeah I mean he's he's he's he's I mean it's he's in he's in medical care but I mean don't need to work a match in a week and a half and he's not it's not like he's like a super athletic worker you know it's he doesn't he hasn't been doing this you know 300 days out of the year.
00:21:19
Speaker
Isn't there like a crazy surgery you have to get for diverticulitis? Didn't Lesnar have to do something with his intestines? Yeah, he lost like so many like like I thought he lost a whole bunch a big chunk of his intestines out of this thing
00:21:33
Speaker
Jesus. I don't know anything about it. And maybe Lesnar's case was really extreme. And maybe this is something that if other people get it, they can get it fixed. But so tonight while watching Smackdown, when Daniel Bryan comes out to make his announcement for WrestleMania, where he books dare self, what keep going, just keep going.
00:21:52
Speaker
what no because I was hoping you were going to talk about they showed the the recap video before Daniel Bryant or like oh yeah oh boy oh boy we got to see we got to see those sounds in slow motion like it was a fucking reenactment of a crime it was cute
00:22:17
Speaker
or so I mean he books the match of him and shame against him and Shane against Kevin and Sammy and if they if Kevin and Sammy beat him they get their jobs back and that's I think that's what everyone was predicting before all this stuff happened and then we get the reports that he's legit injured and probably can't make it and yet they're they're booking it anyway they're going with it well or I mean they still have a week the go-homes next week they could be like Shane's hurt surprise this is who you get instead
00:22:47
Speaker
Right I talked to Some some guys tonight who said that they're still kind of hoping for Jericho. So let's just pay attention Maybe his show we see it get canceled soon. I don't know Right cuz he's got he does have a fuzzy show that night I don't know. There's a lot of people they could throw in there and it'd be fine But we are at a time where like did you read the announcement about Charlotte? I
00:23:08
Speaker
yeah okay so I missed that because I've been I was watching SmackDown tonight and dipped out because we've been trying to get our internet working here in our new place had some issues so I missed like I saw that Becky Lynch replaced her in the mix match challenge what the hell's going on well I had a buddy earlier
00:23:27
Speaker
shout out John for everybody likes breaking wrestling news to me and I like it too when people are excited and John you were the first to send that one to me so it's also extremely useful because that you just have a constant influx of information coming to you if I need to know something it's gonna come right at me someone friends
00:23:46
Speaker
But no, it was an article saying that WWE announced that Charlotte was injured and that's why she didn't wrestle over the weekend and wasn't gonna wrestle tonight and was being removed from the challenge. But a little bit later, he sent me a message saying, okay, it turns out she had some infection in her mouth and had to get like dental surgery on Wednesday. So to me, dental surgery means you can be ready by next Sunday.
00:24:15
Speaker
Yeah. So I don't think she's out or anything. I think we're still getting that match. And I don't think they even mentioned it tonight on the show. That whole match is pissing me off, though. What, Charlotte Oscar? Yeah. Like what the fuck? The whole idea of when you win the Royal Rumble and you choose which champion you're going to face, you hopping brands.
00:24:39
Speaker
And you can just see Vince like just slapping his dick all over and like, like fucking, he just refuses to let Asuka just go to SmackDown. What's he slapping his dick on? You're leaving me hanging here. I felt weird. I was going to say he's slapping his dick across Asuka, like claiming like her is raw property. Cause in my mind, when I think about how he makes decisions, I feel like he leans and shows favoritism towards raw.
00:25:07
Speaker
So when I imagine him making those decisions like, well, in the past, we've just had that superstar hop over to SmackDown, but I still need her on Raw because it's Raw. But that's not how the fucking rules work. It's like the free agent thing with John Cena. It's like, what fucking show is he on?
00:25:26
Speaker
Well, neither. Honestly, with all of these matches, nearly every single Mania match, they're all matches we want to see. Well, sure. I'm excited about the match itself. And it's all matches that we're excited about. But do you think the build to any of these matches has you like, these are really good stories. I think they're actually setting up to where we're going to have great matches. But none of the stories are like full on like grabbing me.
00:25:50
Speaker
I don't know. The Kevin Sammy stuff grabs me because they've been building on in a while and Daniel Bryan's making his return. There's a lot going on there. Nakamura style being straight up disrespectful. Yeah. I don't know. I saw some people complaining about that online and I can't disagree with them. The build is super weird and it's just it's.
00:26:11
Speaker
I feel weird taking shots at taker but it does become a case where it's like fuck man like is this gonna be like Bray Wyatt where he like literally his opponent carries the feud and the build for four weeks
00:26:25
Speaker
Well, that's what I'm getting kind of tired of is like that because that wasn't a good build for Wyatt and taker but the only thing this has going for it is I think you're getting the closest to a heel Cena you've ever seen and This version of John Cena is just like I've lost the last 20 matches and I'm gonna kick your ass old man If you let me
00:26:49
Speaker
He's like just, cause what happens if Cena loses? Like then he comes out the raw after, uh, mania and just like, I lost again, but I'm going to get back up and just, he just lose it. Like he's Dolph Ziggler now. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I guess that's the intrigue of this match is like, they could go into two totally different directions.
00:27:09
Speaker
Which, you know what's actually weird about this is it does take away from Roman's match with him last year, whatever that was. Well, okay, so it probably is gonna be biker taker, right? Yeah, but, and again, I get it. I get why they're gonna go that direction. I'll be excited for seeing it. But at the same time, like, I thought, like, last year's the end of WrestleMania was emotional.
00:27:36
Speaker
and to kind of just immediately be like, eh, but, you know, we kind of want to, we want to squeak in one more year. Like the, yeah, I'm excited for it more than I thought that I would be. But again, like you said, the build hasn't been what I expected. And I don't know, man, like I just, I think we're still set up for a good show. It's just,
00:27:57
Speaker
You know, I feel like each story is missing just a little something that gets me pumped. I don't know, I'm sitting here trying to think of all the matches on the card. There's a lot of matches on this card. Well, yeah, I think that maybe they're selling this just on the card. Which I respect, because that's one thing that I've always wanted. WrestleMania should be about a good big match.
00:28:25
Speaker
Sure. But it also should be the conclusion to a giant story. It's like the end of their TV season. Yeah, technically. I mean, they're supposed to. I think I put out this question on social media today for us. The plan was supposedly that the pay-per-view after WrestleMania is when they're doing the next superstar shakeup. The next pay-per-view after Mania? Yeah, they're going to use the pay-per-view as the shakeup.
00:28:49
Speaker
Okay. I mean, at this point, who do you think is going to get all moved around? I think we definitely need to get some tag teams over to Raw. Yeah. I mean, at this point, you got to send New Day or the Usos over there, right? Probably the Usos. I think you're sending the Usos over. You're probably going to get back.
00:29:09
Speaker
Fuck, what tag teams are there on Raw? I know, that's what's so crazy. Because the biggest ones for the bar are in the Hardys. Well, you could send the revival over to SmackDown, give them a fresh start. That would be awesome, actually. That's a good place for them.
00:29:23
Speaker
Trade the revival in the Usos. And then I think everyone's been talking for a long time. I mean, shit, this was talked about last Superstar Shakeup. I think Raw's going to get AJ Styles. That's time, right? I guess Vince is going to probably lose Brock on Raw, so he wants to replace him with some star power over there. Do you think we get rid of Randy on SmackDown?
00:29:46
Speaker
Yeah, I think I think Randy's gonna here's what I think is gonna happen this person I was thinking about this earlier today I think the Intercontinental and US belts are gonna switch shows again Do you think that uh, do you think we're gonna see rusev go over at WrestleMania?
00:30:01
Speaker
I don't know. Of any of those guys, he is that top guy right now if he gets added into that match. I think Orton and Miz are both going to retain their titles at Mania and I think they're going to switch shows after. I think Miz going back to SmackDown makes way too much sense so he can set himself up with a feud with Daniel Bryan. Okay. And I think Orton going back over to Raw.
00:30:26
Speaker
makes sense because they need like that established veteran presence back over there. I just don't think there's anything left for Orton to do on SmackDown. He can take the US title over there with him. Miz can bring the Intercontinental title back over to SmackDown. I really want Miz to be the longest reigning Intercontinental champ of all time. Well, I think that's kind of, I honest to God think that's why I'm picking Miz to retain. I think they're gonna let that happen.
00:30:55
Speaker
So, OK, speaking of that match, do you think we're going to get the demon at WrestleMania or do you think this isn't important enough of a match for Finn Balor's career to bring the demon out? See, I just don't know. It's it's so weird because like they back themselves into a like I love the demon gimmick, but at the same time, it backs you into a corner creatively because it's almost like you don't want to establish. Like you don't want him to lose as the demon.
00:31:23
Speaker
Oh, he can't loses the demon. Like that's his like, you know, that's the final thing. Right. The thing that like you aren't getting past this. Right. So if you book him as the demon, then everyone kind of is cued off to the fact that he's going over. And then if he doesn't go over, he needs to not if he's going to lose as the demon, it needs to be in a big match. Oh, the question is, is the Intercontinental title big enough?
00:31:50
Speaker
I don't, I don't think so. I think we need to wait until he's in like a universal championship match against like AJ Styles or, you know, somebody a little bigger, like even Shinsuke, you know, something like that. That would be, that seems like a big enough match. So if Raw, if Raw ends up getting the AJ Styles, give me some, some guys that have to go back to Smackdown. Like think, think of it like a, like a real professional sports trade.
00:32:16
Speaker
If a team is getting AJ Styles in a package, who is SmackDown gonna get back? Well, I would hope that maybe Sasha Banks. Would she be somebody good to move over to SmackDown?
00:32:30
Speaker
Well I think to me the most obvious choice is sending Becky over to Raw, Becky Lynch, and getting Bayley back in my opinion. Okay. Sending Bayley over to SmackDown. I think SmackDown needs to get Finn Balor.
00:32:48
Speaker
He should be the champ over at SmackDown. Correct. I feel like that is an attainable goal for him. Since it's already kind of the B show to him, I feel like that is a place he can definitely go and succeed.
00:33:04
Speaker
Sure. Um, and again, another, another fresh start thing. Like, you know, he was the first universal champion. I think Becky being the first Smackdown women's champion, those two flipping shows makes sense to me. But if it's me asking, I'm asking for both Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. If you're losing AJ Styles and Randy Orton and the Usos,
00:33:26
Speaker
Like, you need to be getting some other stuff back that's pretty big. Yeah, there's times that I think, like, oh, the shake-up doesn't matter, but when I realize, like, just moving a few key people, that really creates a fresh match. Correct. Especially when you're just, when you have the, especially, I feel like SmackDown, you get the same match for a really long time. Yeah, and it's super bizarre, too, because they don't have the three-hour problem.
00:33:54
Speaker
There should be plenty of things for them to do over there, but I'm still like, you know, getting Randy Orton and gender Mahal for the better part of a year. Yeah, but you know, a part of that is also they just don't seem to want to like put, put rusev in some interesting spots. Like they put all their money on gender and Mojo in the last year. Take that into consideration. They had Mojo Raleigh win the Andre the giant Memorial battle Royal at WrestleMania.
00:34:21
Speaker
And what has he done with that since he split with Ryder? But that also makes sense because for them like that, I feel like that trophy means so little to them that they can have somebody that matters win it and pretend like it matters or they can give it to Mojo Raleigh and have a big NFL star get in the ring with them at WrestleMania and it makes it on the news the next day.
00:34:43
Speaker
I guess it depends on how you look at it because you can say it doesn't matter to them, but I get the vibe that they think that it's springboard somebody. Do they genuinely believe it did that to Cesaro?
00:34:59
Speaker
I don't, this is the thing, Cesaro was fine before he won it. And then they booked him into it, like they put him with Heyman. He didn't need to be with Heyman. They changed his music. They turned him heal, I think.
00:35:14
Speaker
I think they did. Yeah. Like he was, he was, they fucked with Cesaro so much, man. That's a guy who could have succeeded as a single, a single star. I guess he still technically can, but man, a year and a half ago, he was on fire. And then they were like, no, no, we got this great idea. We're going to pair them with Seamus. And I think that's worked out better than either of us expected initially. But I still look at Cesaro and think that's a guy who can do well on his own.
00:35:38
Speaker
Yeah, no, I believe that. I mean, that's a guy that, you know, if you put him over on Smackdown, put him by himself, you know, actually split those guys up having a run of like, you know, a Finn Balor versus a Cesaro for a heavyweight championship that that'd be a crazy good match. Right. I just don't think that they're.
00:35:58
Speaker
They're just not creative. It'll be interesting to see if they move styles off of SmackDown, what they get back. Cause that will become the new, I mean the show has essentially revolved around styles in some form or fashion. I mean fuck, even when they were doing the gender orton stuff, I don't think that was like the focus of the show.
00:36:18
Speaker
Yeah. So that was very secondary because I mean a lot of that was happening during like the money in the bank build. So that wasn't even going to be the main event there anyway. No I mean we're talking post mania stuff. But no I definitely think that.
00:36:36
Speaker
the card alone is the draw and that's okay like every night like at some point like yeah i think there's enough storyline stuff going on that everyone's kind of like yeah we get it there's a story here let's get to the show i think everyone's is ready i like i don't know i i know
00:36:53
Speaker
I know there's a bunch of cards or not. There's a bunch of matches on that card that people would list on their dream matches. In fact, and this may upset you. I don't know how you'll feel about it. The match on that card I am least looking forward to next to, next to the United States championship match, I guess, um, is the Ronda Rousey match.
00:37:14
Speaker
Oh, I thought you were going to say Charlotte Asuka and I was going to be like, fuck you. That's amazing. No, no, no. Because right now, honestly, that's where I'm sitting. That is my top match. I think that is going to give us incredible things. Charlotte Asuka. Oh, yeah, like right now to me, that is that is like my number one match that I'm most excited about. Even more than Styles and Nakamura.
00:37:39
Speaker
Yeah, a little bit. And I think it's just because I haven't seen this match. This is a brand new match. Fair enough. And I, you know, just, I think both of them have been built up so big that it really is like either one of them could go over. Like do they really want to like keep building up Charlotte or most likely have Asuka win? And then like you said, have Carmella come in and cash in and everything.
00:38:02
Speaker
Well, I guess, I mean, we I mean, it's I mean, it's upon us, you know, that we have one more podcast episode before it's WrestleMania. Next week, we'll probably end up doing like some special stuff. It'll probably be a. Probably a pretty epic episode where we just kind of gush about what's coming and all of actually just come from the go home. Smackdown is here in Nashville, so I will be attending that one.
00:38:26
Speaker
Nice. So you are making the trek down to New Orleans that weekend for all the different wrestling shit that's going on down there. Um, if, if you're trying to describe to somebody who's never been to WrestleMania or bigger than that, who hasn't been down to like all the events that go on around WrestleMania, uh, that weekend, how would you describe that to somebody who's never been because
00:38:52
Speaker
It just seems like every year it's getting bigger and bigger and more epic and there's more stuff to do and It's not just like we've talked before. It's not just a one-day thing anymore. It's it's like a vacation It's a wrestling vacation now and I want to get into your mindset because you got a week and a half and then you're you're down there Doing a lot of shit and you'll be reporting back to this podcast. So what's what's what's on your mind right now, man?
00:39:19
Speaker
For those of you who haven't been, this has grown so big. I mean, this thing has essentially become wrestling comic-con. So it is, it's not even, I mean, obviously, like, it all leads up to WrestleMania. That's the big show. But you can just see anything. Like, if there is a wrestler that you want to see, you can find them in New Orleans next weekend.
00:39:42
Speaker
they will be somewhere. This is just getting to see, you know, progress evolve. Even, you know, some of the New Japan guys are going to be over at the Ring of Honor show, which I bet next year at WrestleMania that New Japan has a giant show.
00:40:01
Speaker
You think so? I promise you, that has to be next in the cards for them, especially because they just had their big pay-per-view over the weekend in Long Beach, which was New Japan's second ever United States show. You think they'll do that like on the Friday before May or something? Yeah, I think they'll find a way to do that, unless they just keep pairing with Ring of Honor. But I feel like at this point, New Japan could set up somewhere, have their own night, and fill an arena.
00:40:31
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, everybody's in town. Well, because you saw what's happening, right? New Japan is going to kind of beat the young bucks to a 10,000 seater. Really? Yeah, over the weekend. So they had the show in Long Beach. Well, if you didn't know, I've been so fucking out of the loop. I know. I missed a bunch of stuff. So like what? Fucking New Japan's booking like something similar.
00:40:55
Speaker
Exactly. So what happened is they had this show at the pyramid in Long Beach, which I did go to the US Open of Sumo wrestling at. That was fucking awesome. If you ever can go to Sumo wrestling, go see Sumo wrestling all day long and drink Japanese beers.
00:41:14
Speaker
It is fun. But so they had that show there. And at that show, they announced to everyone that they're coming back and they're going to have because another big New Japan event is the G1 Classic or the G1 Climax.

New Japan Pro Wrestling in the US

00:41:27
Speaker
And they're going to bring one of the one of the days of that to San Francisco, to the Cow Palace. And they're doing it before all in. It's going to be July 1st. It's not going to get the same kind of publicity, though, right?
00:41:41
Speaker
I don't know. I mean, a lot of the same people are going to be there. I mean, I have a hard time imagining, you know, the young bucks aren't going to be at this event. And a big part of them doing it was this pay-per-view was last year they had it at a smaller venue in L.A., sold out really fast. This year, they didn't announce any matches. The thing sold out in less than five minutes in a bigger venue. And that was when they decided we can do somewhere bigger because if we announce big matches, this thing is going to fill up.
00:42:10
Speaker
I mean, that's cool. The ability to go to more shows like that is awesome. I feel weirded out because it feels like it takes something away from what the elite were putting together. I do agree with that. Yeah, it seems like there has to be something going on there. But also, maybe because of this, New Japan will be more willing to send Okada.
00:42:34
Speaker
over to all in or send Naito or send some of these guys because I know they said they've had New Japan people interested in participating. Right. So I'm hoping that this helps there be a little more crossover between the two. And you and I have talked about it a couple different times on this podcast. I definitely
00:42:55
Speaker
I wonder how long it's gonna take before we start seeing New Japan and before we start seeing Ring of Honor kind of step up trying to get to be more popular in the States at least. I feel like New Japan coming in having you know this the biggest show they've ever had in the United States at what is kind of a classic wrestling venue in the United States is a big deal like part of me almost looks at it as like shots fired you know
00:43:24
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, we'll see what it leads to. Like I said, the time to capitalize is now because as we've talked about so much, there's a demand for other wrestling besides WWE.
00:43:40
Speaker
And go ahead. Well, I think a hard thing. There is a demand for it. And I think that a lot of people are interested. But I think a hard thing is you get so attached to WWE and WWE just keeps coming out with more and more and more content that you're like, well, I can't even keep up with this. How do I how do I get to this? Like this seems unattainable. I have to go through a Japanese website. Like this is starting to seem harder.
00:44:07
Speaker
But yeah, no, especially for like, I can't even imagine what that's like for you. Just doing research for the podcast every week because WWE is amount of content that they can release on a given week is ridiculous. And if you're just covering all pro wrestling between ring of honor, between new Japan, between WWE and between all the indie shit in between the very indie shit.
00:44:32
Speaker
um that's so much and that's not even including that's just that's the actual content if you listen to podcasts if you like read the dirt sheets if you do i mean you are consuming wrestling oh i
00:44:47
Speaker
I am like gobbling this shit up every day because I just want to get to a point where like if somebody brings up wrestling to me it doesn't matter where the fuck it's from I want to be able to talk about it to you. And yeah it's a lot of shit and like this is basically putting in work sitting around watching this much stuff but it is enjoyable.
00:45:07
Speaker
And that's what I'm afraid of is that when people like, cause I know we have people that listen to this that only watch WWE and that is fine, but I know that there's certain things that if you saw it, you would understand it a little more and you would be like, okay, I see why this is a big deal. And then you can start to kind of, you know, you don't have to watch every single match, but know that there's fucking
00:45:32
Speaker
awesome matches that are gonna change your mind about the way you watch professional wrestling. Especially this pay-per-view over the weekend, we had one of the single greatest tag team matches I have ever seen in my entire life.

Young Bucks vs Golden Lovers

00:45:47
Speaker
That's what the people are saying, man. Some people are saying it's the greatest tag match that has ever happened.
00:45:53
Speaker
And it's just this match had everything. It is the Young Bucks versus the Golden Lovers. The Golden Lovers being Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi. We talked about them several times. This match, there's just, there's so much story happening in this match.
00:46:10
Speaker
Um, cause if you've been keeping up with being the elite, which is another thing you can watch the young bucks own show, which I would argue might be the best show in professional wrestling right now. It only takes 14 minutes out of your week. It's really funny. And it actually progresses stories and two wrestling shows.
00:46:28
Speaker
So for, I'm not, I'm not too proud to admit the whole new Japan ring of honor, pay-per-view scheduling. I don't understand. And it blows my mind. Um, because I felt like they just did a pay-per-view a couple of weeks ago, like during whatever weekend fast lane was. And it seemed like there was another one over the weekend.
00:46:54
Speaker
I guess like maybe that were really a pay per view maybe it was more of a house show with a gigantic match because this show was more of like an exhibition for American fans where all the wrestlers got to be involved so I mean there was maybe one or two actual one on one matches everything else was like six man tags
00:47:15
Speaker
Right, but it got recorded. It did, yeah, it was broadcast live on television. See, that's what's so weird to me, and I was asking that because I was leading into this question, which is that, to me, a match like that is a big fucking deal, and you promote that, and it ties into everything that's been happening with the Elite and the Bullet Club and Cody and Kenny and all this stuff. And to me, I didn't get any warning that that was coming up.
00:47:45
Speaker
Did like was that was that being discussed weeks in advance or how does something like that come together? And then not be on my radar right before it happens well given I was out of the loop over the weekend, but like That's something that you'd think they would book two weeks in advance
00:48:00
Speaker
Part of it, like I said, it got started getting set up in New Japan on what like, you know, their shows typically end with something starting, you know, or the start of something else. And it came where, you know, Cody trying to break up the Bullet Club, but the Bullet Club is fine.
00:48:20
Speaker
Cody has been, he's been, Cody's been planting all these awesome seeds where like, it also takes place in being the elite a lot. That's where you get a lot of this story, actually, is on their web series. Which is, I think what's so cool is, you know, New Japan, you don't get a lot of the American part of the story of the Bullet Club, so that you go to being the elite for that.
00:48:41
Speaker
But on there, Cody has been trying to plant seeds into Matt Jackson's head that he should be a singles competitor. So it's almost like he's trying to break up the Young Bucks a little bit. But then also you've got Kenny Omega, who Matt Jackson is his best friend, but he feels betrayed because on being the elite, Kenny said that they were the best tag team in the world, but he didn't say that because Cody re-edited some video.
00:49:11
Speaker
of Kenny Omega talking and made it seem like he's starting a feud between everybody. Right now, Cody is the mastermind of breaking this shit up.
00:49:19
Speaker
And this match, just to go back to that for a second, there's just so much going on where Matt Jackson is acting very heelish throughout it, and Kenny doesn't want to hit him, but they are just going to war, and Matt Jackson is selling so goddamn well in this match. For a while now, he's been selling a lower back injury, and this match is just them destroying his back.
00:49:46
Speaker
Yeah, I haven't seen any of it yet, but everything that I've been hearing is that like I gotta catch this I Don't know man like to me this stuff is huge like this is like this is the biggest outside of WWE storyline that they like I've said this before that's existed since like the NWO and
00:50:09
Speaker
And I don't know, I wish they were capitalizing on this a little bit more. I mean, obviously it's getting some coverage, but like, man, like, I don't know, I want more of it. And I want to know about it too. I know they just hit 200,000 subscribers on YouTube for being the elite. So that means every week there's at least 200,000 people tuning into the Bullet Club story, essentially. And there's so much going on in there. Everybody's got like their own little story going on within it.
00:50:38
Speaker
in this match. Sorry, I just I got to talk a little bit more about it. Just how they built it. There was so much of it that Nick Matt Jackson's in the ring and coda and Kenny are beating the shit out of them. But Kenny looks very regretful that it's happening.
00:50:55
Speaker
And when he's being aggressive, like you can tell that Nick Jackson is torn in between all this. And when it finally becomes Matt and Kota, he is beating the shit out of Kota so hard, but looking at Kenny while he's doing it, there's just so many little things that just make it such a brilliant match and a brilliant story.
00:51:15
Speaker
like just even just little looks they're giving each other and then just as the build goes like it's crazy because a lot of those you know a lot of young bucks matches they kind of don't have rules almost because the tag team it's almost as if it's like a tornado tag team but there is a legal man
00:51:37
Speaker
where the ref is never gonna call anything out. I think at one point, cause Jerry Lawler, or not Jerry Lawler, sorry, JR called this match, or he called the pay per view over the weekend, which is incredible to hear your favorite wrestling voice from when you're a kid calling these new guys. And at one point he's like, well, Kenny isn't the legal man, but I'll be honest, doesn't seem like it really matters anymore.
00:52:05
Speaker
Hahahaha!
00:52:10
Speaker
I don't know, man. And then the finish to this thing. Like, I don't want to give it away to everybody, but it was. But you should have already watched it, I guess. I have not. But it was there's a moment in it where they've beaten the shit so badly out of Matt Jackson. Kenny puts him on his shoulders to give him the one wing angel, and then he hesitates and just isn't going to do it. And then Matt goes, Come on, do it, finish me. And then he does it.
00:52:37
Speaker
And it's just like this moment where they're both crying, almost. It's a very, very emotional match. And I think there was a tweet earlier that Matt Jackson said, I feel like when you're watching a really good wrestling match, it should feel like a movie. Correct. And this felt like a fucking movie.
00:52:57
Speaker
How long was the match? Shit, I wasn't even timing. It had to have at least gone 30 minutes. Yeah. I mean, it was a, it was a lengthy match and a really good story was told with a lot of high spots, a lot of everything in this match. I mean, there was a point where Kenny had Matt Jackson on his shoulders, Kota Ibushi jumped up and gave him a release German suplex from the top of his shoulders.
00:53:23
Speaker
I mean, you asked me this question because we were preparing for this podcast. You asked me to think of some like epic tag team matches. And the truth is I can only name like off the top of my head. I don't I don't store memories of tag team matches that I've seen the way I do like singles matches or the way I do like hardcore matches or Helena Sells.
00:53:47
Speaker
or money in the banks like matches with spots or even just straight up one-on-one I just tag matches to me they can be good that's not me saying the tag matches aren't good I just don't they they're not the first thing that springs to my mind when I start thinking about pro wrestling
00:54:03
Speaker
Um, like, I mean, I, I remember TLCs. I remember like the, like, I remember those, um, I thought like, like I said before, um, the usos and the new day recently had a really great tag feud and they're, I guess they're going to kind of continue that this year's mania. But, uh, everyone's saying that this, this, uh, bucks versus golden lovers tag team match is like one for the ages.
00:54:28
Speaker
And, uh, I guess it's a priority area. Go check it out now, because like, what about you, man? Like, do you, do you feel the same way about tag matches or? No, I, I'm, I'm with you there. Um, but I do feel like that in the last couple of years, there's been a few memorable ones, but I mean,
00:54:46
Speaker
Like you said, they're just tag matches aren't something I retain as well. But I will say last year, Mania Weekend, NXT TakeOver, DIY, Authors of Pain, The Revival, that was a very, very memorable tag match. And yeah, honestly, the best match I saw that whole weekend. Yeah, that match stuck with me.
00:55:06
Speaker
Same with I feel like just some of the DIY revival matches where the revival kept were DIY kept losing Yeah, but they got so close every time those were really emotional You know well-fought just great story matches that I will remember
00:55:22
Speaker
But this one, I don't think I've ever seen a match executed like this. And I mean, I saw a lot of people post this and I think it was Joey Ryan that said, there's people this weekend that are realizing what a lot of people have realized for the last like five years, that the Young Bucks are the best tag team that have ever lived. Yeah. And I mean, some people would definitely agree with, disagree with that Jim Cornette.
00:55:49
Speaker
Uh, let's slip his name in there. That goddamn Chuck Taylor's ruining the fucking business. This flippy flop bullshit. Who was actually Chuck said something on Twitter about Daniel Bryan where he's like, you need to come back. Things have gone downhill since you left. He said, I'm the PWG champion now and I'm in New Japan.
00:56:15
Speaker
Uh, man, I don't know. It's been, it's been a crazy ride. Um, there's a lot of good stuff going on. Um, I don't know, man. I don't know how, where do you see all this? Where do you see all this stuff, uh, leading to with, uh, with Cody and Kenny and the Bullet Club splitting up because, you know, it's, it's been at the peak of its popularity. Um,
00:56:42
Speaker
I don't know. What's the end game here? I mean, obviously, we're going to get Kenny Cody at some point here. Well, we get Kenny and Cody very soon, just in a week and a half. That's mainly a weekend. But I'm trying to think further ahead to all in. You've got Cody that's been planting seeds in Matt Jackson's head. Why don't you make a singles run? And so that makes me start wondering, is he going to have a singles match against Kenny Omega?
00:57:12
Speaker
Is that a thing that's possible? Could at some point, if the Young Bucks break up, could we see a match between the Young Bucks, see them face each other at some point? I don't think that's where it's headed right now, but I think, I don't know, seeing a singles match would be kind of a cool thing, because they actually, both Young Bucks in this match had their own things going on, and there were matches where both of them looked amazing, or parts of the match at least.
00:57:38
Speaker
where even Nick Jackson comes in and it's like saving the day and just super kicking the shit out of everybody and just looking like, you know, a million bucks. So I don't know. I think that's what's kind of exciting is we don't really they plant seeds. So you have a little bit of an idea of where things are headed, but it's not like, you know, very, very obvious. Like, I can't say like this is going to be the main event of all in, you know, I don't want the young bucks to break up as a fan. I don't want to see it.
00:58:07
Speaker
I could see it happening eventually, but it's a thing where they would definitely have to get back together. That is... Well, that would be the story. Absolutely. There's just too much money to be made still with them being a tag team because people are just now starting to get their eyes on them.
00:58:24
Speaker
I'm just I'm speaking as a speaking as a mark as a fan. I don't want to see it. I'll cry. I think we'll all cry, man. And that's all right, because, you know, wrestling brings tears sometimes. Oh, we didn't mention this last time. I got to throw this out there.
00:58:41
Speaker
Zach fucking Sabre Jr. Won the New Japan Cup. That means that at the next pay-per-view, he is, oh my god, because he gets to choose what belt he wants to fight for, and he chose Okada.
00:58:57
Speaker
We're gonna see Zack Sabre Jr. take on Okada for the heavyweight championship. That will be fucking bananas. Like watching one of the best wrestlers in the world. I mean, honestly, two of the best wrestlers in the world, but two different styles. We're gonna watch a guy who, you know, just this scrawny little man put a heavyweight champion just into a fucking pretzel. Is it gonna happen?
00:59:24
Speaker
Yeah, that's been announced. He called him out at the end of the pay-per-view. Well, no, I don't mean that, but I mean, is he gonna do it? I don't see it. Because just think of everybody that Okada has taken down. He's beaten Kenny Omega several times who had some of the best matches anyone had ever seen. He took out Naito. I don't know, I just don't see Saber being the one to get it. I feel like Kenny still could be that guy to take it away from him.
00:59:54
Speaker
But he's also in the middle of Golden Lovers right now, so I, once again, have no fucking clue, and I love it. Yeah? Hey, man. Like I said, lots of good stuff going on right now.

Critique of Vince Russo

01:00:08
Speaker
But, you know, hey, we're about an hour in, I think it's time we should start wrapping things up. Derek, do you have anyone you could say something nice about? Because every week on this show, you know, we might talk a little shit about people, but we will pick somebody and say something nice.
01:00:24
Speaker
Vince Russo. Holy shit. I'm actually, what are you going to say nice about this man? I can't even imagine. There's not a whole lot nice I could say about this guy. I guess I'll just cut right to the chase. He fucking sucks. It's something that Vince or something that Jim Cornett and I could sit down and eat at Jerry Lawler's restaurant in Memphis and order a couple of beers that we don't get.
01:00:53
Speaker
have a shitty burger and we could talk about Vince Russo and what a fuck up he is but I guess if you know I've been thinking a lot about WCW lately and going back over the history there and I will say this
01:01:09
Speaker
It's almost like Vince Russo knows he's a piece of shit and had no problem portraying that on camera to get heat. And yeah, more props to you for understanding that like people don't like you and being willing to, I don't know, be a fucking asshole on camera because that's what you are. To the wrestling industry, isn't it? That's the nice thing I liked him as a kid. It is. I remember you. You you really you really thought he was cool.
01:01:39
Speaker
He had a baseball bat, man. And a Yankees jersey. Yeah. I mean, I don't I didn't say I had a good excuse for it. I just said I did like him. That's the only nice thing I'll say about him. He did a good job of booking himself as an asshole because he has one. In his mind, he was booking himself as a baby face. That's how bad he is. Hey, you say something nice.
01:02:05
Speaker
Well, tonight I said a lot of not nice things about Jerry the King Lawler and his restaurant. So I figure I'll go ahead and say something nice about Jerry's favorite tendies. So while they may not have been fresh and were definitely just pulled out of a bag and dropped into a deep fryer again, you did have your choice of three different seasonings.
01:02:26
Speaker
And I went for the Cajun rub. And I'll say, whatever rub they put on that, if it were in a bottle in my kitchen, I would probably put it on meat myself. It is a pretty good seasoning. And I mean, maybe Jerry picked it out. Maybe Jerry didn't pick it out. But somewhere in that kitchen, they have a bottle of rub that they can just dump all over a chicken tendie that is not that bad. And that's what I got to say nice this week.
01:02:52
Speaker
It's not about Jerry Lawler, but it's about Jerry Lawler's restaurant's tendies. Don't get me wrong, still a one star restaurant, but it's a one and a half star tendie. You know what those tendies were actually made out of, right? Oh, God. Puppies? Yep. Oh, God damn it. It's like, ma'am, I found an affliction t-shirt in my nachos.
