Introduction to the Daily Tottenham Podcast

officialgspn
Hello and welcome to the Daily Tottenham Podcast from the Global Sports Podcast Network, the place where we talk Tottenham every single weekday. I'm Joe Forrester.
00:00:17
Scott Duke_Giles
And I'm Scott Jigiles, and with a shiny new Premier League season starting today, we discussed what would constitute a good season for Anj Posterkogli's men and some of the teams to watch out for.
Eve Pursuma's Suspension: Causes and Reactions
00:00:28
officialgspn
And, weirdly, we're talking drugs. As we check out, Eve Pursuma's doing after Big Popper Ange pops him on the naughty step for at least the Leicester game. Now don't forget, you can get in touch at GSPN Tottenham on all social media. So if you've been off socials today and you haven't been following what's been going on at Spurs, just to catch you up, Ange Postocoglio has revealed that Tottenham midfielder Eve Pursuma has been suspended from the opening Premier League game of the season after he posted a video of himself on social media last weekend appearing to inhale laughing gas from a balloon. Now since 2023 possession of nitrous oxide also known as NOS or NOS as the kids call it um for recreational use has been a criminal offense in the UK and cameras on a two year prison sentence. Besuma said in a statement I want to apologize for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgment. I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved.
00:01:18
officialgspn
and I also take my responsibilities as a footballer and role model very seriously. However, despite this Spurs have taken the decision to remove him from selection for the opening game of the season following an internal investigation this week. Now, Foster Cogloo has said, among other things, that look kind of people make mistakes and um I've been in the game a long time. This time it just happens to be Biss. But one of the interesting things he said is he has responsibilities to the club, responsibilities with teammates, responsibilities to the supporters and everyone associated with the club. And he's failed in those duties. It's got to be sanctions for that. He won't be available for Monday. We've suspended him from Monday's game. Beyond that, there's some trust building that has to happen between Biss and me, Biss and the group. Ouch.
00:02:03
officialgspn
or it's like when you get sent out of class at school and you know, you know, when you go back in it's coming. um Scott, what did you make of this news today?
00:02:13
Scott Duke_Giles
Well, I think the first thing to say, ah you just read Angie's comments there, and I think that's definitely the right line to take with it. I think it's kind of, it's really stupid more than anything else, more than kind of any of the health risks or the legality aspect of it. I think it's just so stupid, the fact that he posted it himself. And I saw that Vesuma came out with a statement saying it was a severe lack of judgment, which was a phrase that made me really laugh. i saw it um like yeah i was like yeah you're not kidding um but i is it is it
00:02:49
Scott Duke_Giles
Is it strange to say that I wasn't completely surprised, Joe? I mean, he's he's an interesting character. um I think I was just thinking back to kind of ah how he played last season, and he started really well when we were playing well. And then I remember at Luton, he got um two ridiculous yellow cards that ah meant he was sent off. And I know we're kind of talking more on the pitch stuff here, and which doesn't translate to his behaviours of it, or maybe it does, I know.
00:03:13
Scott Duke_Giles
um But that was I'm one of them was for diving I can't remember whether it was the one that got him sent off and But one of them was for diving anyway, um but that kind of shows he's he's got this kind of I guess ah Bad judgments traits and now I want to see it did kind of make me quite sad as well because I mean for people who know nitrous oxide and know what it is it's not a kind of sophisticated or glamorous things to be saying probably the furthest thing from it and it's it is quite like it is dangerous um
The Impact of Nitrous Oxide on Athletes
00:03:45
Scott Duke_Giles
and what more so than No not to your knowledge
00:03:45
officialgspn
Should I just say, weirdly, you're so sorry. I just, for people who don't know, Scott scott is ah is our resident drugs expert. I don't mean that he's constantly on drugs. I mean, you you're like, as in from a, yeah, I was going to say, make the podcast a whole different direction.
00:04:01
officialgspn
But but you you literally write about drugs for a living in the chemical composition and law and that kind of thing. So you you are so well-placed compared to pretty much any other Spurs fan or journalist to talk about this.
00:04:13
Scott Duke_Giles
hello ah but thank you I mean, yeah, I guess I guess i guess i sort of am. But the london thing to say about Nitrous Oxides, and i don't know I don't know a lot about it, because I suppose I'm often writing from an international context, but I have done some research into it. And the kind of first thing to say is the access point, the people who use it are often very young.
00:04:35
Scott Duke_Giles
And so like ah um kind of predominantly teenagers um and ah yeah, I guess students. And then it really drops off into like kind of adult use. um And then the people who use it ah into their adulthood, that's when often the long-term health causes really start to kick in um where kind of it can mess with your respiratory system. um And so all of this stuff. And I think it's it's an interesting kind of avenue to go down into like the professional sports um aspect of this because it's not the first time that we've seen a sports person use this kind of drug in a recreational sense.
00:05:11
Scott Duke_Giles
I think we remember that ah so I think some strikers from Arsenal were video doing it um a couple of years ago. And so yeah, that's kind of why I say it kind of made me sad because it is that kind of thing where he really should be doing it.
00:05:24
Scott Duke_Giles
It's also quite desperate in a way like it's quite, it's quite, you know, scott I'd almost rather he was kind of photographed like
00:05:31
Scott Duke_Giles
ah having lots of points in the pub you know because that would be more I don't know yeah I'm not sure what what what do you make of it Joe yourself
00:05:37
officialgspn
but what's i think What always baffles me about these situations? Firstly, why do it? because, and I'm not, so I i am old enough to have to have gone to Marbella about 15 years ago.
00:05:50
officialgspn
And it was actually legal then. And they used to like, kind of if you've ever been in one of these establishments, I was like, I was actually in an establishment that's a chain bar run by the brother of a well-known former England striker and now a very well-known football pundit and host.
00:06:06
officialgspn
um Shouldn't take too much detective work.
00:06:06
Scott Duke_Giles
Oh, can't name, can't name him, Joe, no?
00:06:08
officialgspn
o Yeah, it should, I really, I think it's anybody who's listening to a football podcast, ah ah But they used to, they used to sell it in there and like, I was 18, I did it a couple of times and it was legal then and whatever. And it's like, it is a thing that you say that kids do. And I did it because it was like 1920, whatever it was, right? And on holiday with all my mates, I wasn't a multimillionaire international pro footballer um with a ah global profile playing for, let's face it, one of the biggest riches clubs
00:06:41
officialgspn
in global football, um contextually compared to all the others. I think, so so why do it? It's just so stupid. You would be thinking, what if somebody films me?
00:06:51
officialgspn
Then to film it and like post it, this is what I don't understand when they do these things and then they upload it to social media. And their PR person obviously has to ring them and go, what are you doing?
00:07:02
officialgspn
We've spent so long spinning the last disaster. I just find it baffling. I mean, I think i think the band thing, I don't know. I agree with that from the sense, the point of view that but there's obviously all football has a young fan base, a young, impressionable fan base, and it's dangerous stuff that's bad for your body and you shouldn't do it. And which is obviously the main thing. Secondly, it's illegal. So like you can't, that I absolutely get that. And he's broken the law and done something sort of morally irresponsible when you have kids looking up to you. So I completely
00:07:33
officialgspn
agree with banning him from that point of view. I just think it just it baffles me how stupid these footballers are. And it's it's a difficult time for him as well because there's been a lot of chat about is he going to be is he going to be starting for Spurs this season.
Consequences for Pursuma and Club Future
00:07:48
officialgspn
We've seen a lot of good young players come through, um particularly a lot of versatile players that can do a job in the midfield. You look at somebody like Archie Gray, for example,
00:07:55
officialgspn
Also, Ben Tanker, who I know is a player that a lot of Spurs fans have talked about this summer, is maybe this is his season for us. So I think he couldn't have picked a worse time to force himself out of the team and also disgrace himself in the eyes of the manager and the fan base. i think I think it's very bad timing on his part and either he learns from it and comes back and improves or it's the the start of a bad path for him at Spurs.
00:08:21
Scott Duke_Giles
I think, yeah, you've absolutely nailed it with that last part there. And I think the other reason it may be quite sad is that he's not indispensable. you can he's he's um you I mean, you're outlining it perfectly.
00:08:33
Scott Duke_Giles
There's so much depth in that position now.
00:08:36
Scott Duke_Giles
um And yeah, it's really nice. If you could have chosen the worst, as I think the time to do it it would have been now. And I think he kind of might have been in contention for the the Leicester game.
00:08:48
Scott Duke_Giles
I mean, we definitely get into that in the preview where we talk about ah
00:08:51
Scott Duke_Giles
seems to I guess we won't now because he's suspended, but we would have gotten into that in the preview.
00:08:55
officialgspn
I've crossed him out in the script.
00:08:56
Scott Duke_Giles
yeah it go
00:08:57
Scott Duke_Giles
Yeah, of course, of course, of course, we've had to savagely ah remove his name from a Google Doc.
00:09:04
Scott Duke_Giles
But yeah, we would have been talking about him as ah as a potential starter or maybe, you know, nailed on starter. So, um yeah, and definitely. But as I say, it's more sad than a kind of catastrophic, oh, God, what we're going to do without him now, which I think is ah and and an interesting, yeah, and sad development.
00:09:22
officialgspn
Yeah, it's ah it's absolutely baffling for me. Just um by the way, if you have any thoughts on this, it's GSP and Tottenham on all social media. right We're going to be getting into ah let's transfer news and the injury list so we can see who will be available ah for Monday's game against Leicester. But first up, it's good to remember that this podcast is part of the Global Sports Podcast Network, the only network bringing you exclusive daily news and views on your Premier League team.

Tottenham's Transfers and Young Talent
00:10:01
officialgspn
One thing I do have to say, though, is that I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not listen to the Arsenal podcast. I cannot.
00:10:06
Scott Duke_Giles
ha Good stuff, Joe.
00:10:07
officialgspn
It is amongst the most disgraceful broadcasting I personally have ever heard. So I cannot. I cannot emphasize that enough.
00:10:15
Scott Duke_Giles
i mean are mean we Are we um kind of receiving abuse on that on that pod?
00:10:19
Scott Duke_Giles
Is that what's going on?
00:10:20
officialgspn
No, i want I very much wanted to fire the first shot. So that's it.
00:10:24
Scott Duke_Giles
Okay, good stuff.
00:10:24
officialgspn
I want this to be an ongoing war between us.
00:10:25
Scott Duke_Giles
ah Yeah.
00:10:27
officialgspn
Yeah, the Global Sports Podcast Network, every club, every day.
00:10:32
Scott Duke_Giles
Wonderful. um Okay, so on to potentially some, well, some transfer some transfer news that's developed today. ah Young Jamie Donnelly has um been loaned out to Leighton Orient, who are in League One.
00:10:46
Scott Duke_Giles
um The attacking midfielder has featured quite a lot in Angie's pre-season, and he's really played all over the park, playing in left back and various other points in the midfield um yeah in the midfield zone.
00:11:01
Scott Duke_Giles
midfield formation. So yeah, really exciting to see how he gets on at Ori. And they're a proper club um on the way up ah because yeah would we remember they were in non-league, not in you know recent memory. And they've managed to become quite a kind of middlely rated middle-rated team in league one. So yeah, really excited to see how Don Lee gets on there. And I'm sure we'll be receiving your, well, you guys will be receiving intermittent updates on this podcast. I'm sure we'll do some loan reports.
00:11:29
officialgspn
there is There is also a rich history between Spurs and Leighton Orient with Harry Kane and ah Justin Edinburgh as well, obviously being being head coach there. um Yeah, it's it's a weird one though, isn't it? What do you make of it? Because I think, um but obviously I think a lot of people thought, oh, he's the obvious who doggy standing, which is kind of one of the positions that people have looked at in terms of the squad. So I i was a little bit surprised to see that news today.
00:11:50
Scott Duke_Giles
Yeah, I think, um i yeah, because you kind of think ah ah Mikey Moore has been pretty much um ah deemed to be part of Foster Cogley's first team plans. And you kind of think, oh how many of them will he take like that? um And so, yeah, I was interested to see, I think what who's that ask that's good news for ah the other ah left-backs and other full-backs at the club. um
Squad Debates: Jed Spence and Front Line Strategy
00:12:13
Scott Duke_Giles
So Spence, Foster Cogley's come out today and said,
00:12:17
Scott Duke_Giles
that he kind of wants him to stay and fight for a place in the team. um And ah this is kind of cast doubt upon some other links to other right backs, international um ah based right backs so that have been floating around in recent days.
00:12:32
Scott Duke_Giles
um Yeah, so I guess ah what was your two cents on that, Joe, ah kind of Spence here to stay to fight for a place in the team? What's your thoughts?
00:12:40
officialgspn
I love Jed Spence. And I said this to Harry the other day. I was like, look, he's not the first footballer that Antonio Conte's tried to ruin his life. So like, do you know what?
00:12:47
Scott Duke_Giles
yes yeah
00:12:49
officialgspn
He came, he exploded out the championship. He was, so he's a forest player, but he was on loan at Middlesbrough, wasn't he? He's right back in, he's in that championship team team of the season. Signed by Spurs, really excited. Conte took one look at him and went, no, this guy's garbage based on almost nothing.
00:13:02
officialgspn
um And then that was it basically. and And he lost his way a little bit. And, and to be honest, I can pretty much like, I can pretty much see why I really like him.
00:13:10
officialgspn
um He's technically a very good footballer, he's quite versatile, um and he's got pace. like he's just He just looks like a very handy footballer that can play in a number of positions, to be honest, and I think it just makes sense to have him.
00:13:22
officialgspn
um Just also like very excited as well by the prospect of Archie Grand-Lucas Bergval, who I think potentially could be sort of regular starters or or players coming off the bench.
00:13:33
Scott Duke_Giles
Absolutely, yeah I think, yeah, I totally agree with um all of that stuff about Spence. Yeah, I think i think he kind of, I don't know, he if Rednap was managing Spence, I feel like that's that that that's a perfect combo that I would have loved to have seen happen if Spence was playing 10 years ago or something like that.
00:13:51
Scott Duke_Giles
Rednap would be the ideal figure to kind of motivate him in all of this.
00:13:56
officialgspn
He would have been playing the right hand side of three forwards, like without a towel, yeah.
00:13:59
Scott Duke_Giles
oh yes oh yeah yeah yeah is that give it there be say give it to give it to jed who'll do the rest saysism
00:14:05
officialgspn
nice Harry Redknapp, his greatest legacy, is he looked he looked at Gareth Bale and went left back. Nah, pretty much play him up front, mate.
00:14:11
Scott Duke_Giles
It's good stuff.
00:14:13
Scott Duke_Giles
um yeah so we as we We don't want to go down too much of a rabbit hole about Harry Redknapp because I will talk for a long time.
00:14:20
Scott Duke_Giles
um ah and then um Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips are two other people that listeners can expect to go out on loan. they've been um kind of ah The club has said that they will be pursuing deals for those two, which is I think exciting for both of them. Devine was at ah Plymouth Argyle last season,
00:14:39
Scott Duke_Giles
And um yeah, so it'd be good to see him maybe go to a um another team around the championship or league one or something and get proper playing time. um Yeah, so that's the transfers. Not too much in terms of the incoming news, wild rumors reported, um but ah nothing substantial substantial since, I guess, um well, the big the big kind of Neto news earlier in the week. um So yeah, what do you make of all that, Joe? Do you think, is there anything that you're itching for? Anyone you you think we need now?
00:15:07
officialgspn
Do you know what, right? I think Alfie, like Alfie Devine is interesting because he obviously, he signed in from Wigan when he was 15. I think he was, and we're very, very excited, but that's still like so young for a footballer.
00:15:18
officialgspn
That's probably three or four years ago now.
00:15:20
officialgspn
And so he's still incredibly young and obviously not re- because I keep thinking every year, oh, he's going to be in the first team, but he's not because he's still a kid clearly. He's also quite a diminutive character. So he probably, yeah, he probably needs to go out on loan and do some bench press and have some pro do what Ronaldo did that season about 20 years ago where he left a willow willowy sort of tricky winger and came back looking like a professional boxer and everyone was like oh right okay fine are these guys serious. um Yeah yeah it's it's good to see those kids kind of go out on loan it's nice that we've got so many kids that we're talking about two or three of them going on loan and three or four of them staying and being
00:15:55
officialgspn
First teamers, am I still worried about the forward line? I know we've signed Dominic Solanke. I just don't know what to expect of him. And maybe it's like a little bit of sort of a relatively big club bias or being like a bit snobby, like haven't watched loads of Bournemouth. And when I watched Andoni Ariana's really exciting Bournemouth,
00:16:18
officialgspn
the player that was exciting me wasn't Solanke. It's the build-up play and the movement and all that kind of thing, but you need somebody on the end of that. So um I don't know. I think Kula 70 is set for a good season, um but i just i do yeah I do look at that front three and I think, okay, so it's what?
00:16:36
officialgspn
Johnson, Kulu, Solanke, Sun, Ritchie are the options for that front three. And it just feels like it needs some more X factor um in there. Because Sun is obviously a world-class player, absolutely fine. Johnson's young, Kula, so he's great on his day. But I feel like I'd love like an SA. I know everybody would. But like another player, he'd go, OK, cool. There's two fantastic players. And that third position is kind of up for grabs. um So that that's really the yeah that's the area that I kind of look at. um I don't think we i did potentially never sent it back as well because obviously Ben Davis is starting a couple of games that sent half in preseason and that's not so ideal with the way we play.
00:17:15
Scott Duke_Giles
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I tend to i tend to agree with the centre back point because I think I do. I think you know that's the kind of position where you can really be caught short on me were last season. And that worries me because well, I don't think I'll ever be the same having watched Davidson Royale play away at City.
00:17:31
Scott Duke_Giles
yeah It so took years off. But um you mentioned X Factor and I will resist lifting up my arm, lifting up my sleeve of my T-shirt to show you the TW tattoo on my arm.
00:17:43
Scott Duke_Giles
but surely our man on the left from Germany has it has it in butler, I know I will be flying his flag on this podcast until something catastrophic happens, like he misses an awful open goal, which yeah let's be honest, could be soon.
00:17:44
officialgspn
I FORGOT ALL ABOUT HIM! I COME- Yep.
00:17:58
Scott Duke_Giles
um But yeah, I think yeah, i think i think um yeah there's there's there's like that forward line um could could have enough, but I think yeah, you could be right, it could always do with bolstering.
00:18:08
Scott Duke_Giles
um And obviously we all like to yeah let's be honest as football fans. We'd love to see us sign attacking exciting players So kind of I'm all here for it.
00:18:16
Scott Duke_Giles
But um in terms of ah some injury updates, we mentioned the front line. Rich Harlison is ah Training and kind of working through that calf injury from last season um Which made him miss the copper America.
00:18:30
Scott Duke_Giles
So and just spoken quite positively about his um training sessions and kind of getting him back in the fold, which is good news, I think. Absolutely good news.
00:18:41
Scott Duke_Giles
And similarly, spoke positively about Fraser Forster, who I think people aren't really talking about, but he could play a huge role in this season. If you think about, you know, we're so determined and driven to win a couple of fans or so determined and driven for Tottenham to win a cup.
00:18:55
Scott Duke_Giles
And you've got to think he'll be playing a lot of games, a lot of football this season with Europa League. So Forster suffered a fractured foot last season, as fans might remember. um He's been in training and could make a return to the bench soon. And yeah, I think that would be, that's a really important thing. We haven't been linked with any other goalkeepers this summer ah substantially anyway. um So yeah, what are your thoughts about that, Joe?
00:19:18
officialgspn
Yeah, I mean, yes, he's a good backup keeper, obviously. I sort of, I was, it was really tempting when you said, are Rich Alisson's like kind of recovering from his injury to go, meh.
00:19:29
Scott Duke_Giles
All right, right, yeah.
00:19:29
officialgspn
so that's it
00:19:31
officialgspn
does that Does that affect us in any way? I don't know. I've just never really, he's just, I don't really get him as a footballer. Like he's not an out and out goals. And people say like, oh, it's great to have Brazil's number nine. go but Do you not just, in like maybe they just don't have any, they're not, not every Brazil number nine is as good as each other. That doesn't mean he's as good as Pat Ronaldo. Like that doesn't, it's not like you put that shirt on and you are the same. It's just maybe they don't have any better out and out center forwards at the moment. Like, I don't know. i don't ah I don't know. I know there's this horrible like bias as far as fans have. We want somebody who's going to do a Harry Kane. It's called 30 goals a season and get 20 assists every season and run the team and whatever. And you' never that player is a generational talent. So fine. I concede that, but I just don't i don't get where he fits in. like he's He's not the spearhead of the attack. Who's going to
00:20:22
officialgspn
maybe convert those chances from kind of pacey fullbacks and wingers, your teammate, Werner, who I apologize to, I didn't just forget you were at Spurs on a permanent deal, now I forgot you existed. So I'm really sorry, mate.
00:20:33
officialgspn
um but some Yeah, i like I don't think he's a spearhead of the attack. Equally, I don't think he's a technically good enough player in his passing range. He's good enough to drop deep and maybe find kind of San and Kulesevsky or whoever on the overlap.
00:20:46
officialgspn
So I don't know what the point of him in this Spurs team is. um nice Nice to have, do you know what? He's a Brazil international.
00:20:54
officialgspn
Nice to have him on the bench, but I don't really get it.
00:20:57
Scott Duke_Giles
Yeah, well, to play to play devils devil's advocate slash kind of disagree with you, so because I think there's well there there's there's a lot of things you've said are true.
00:21:04
Scott Duke_Giles
like He can't drop deep, and he is streaky and all of that. But that's also sort of what makes him a very valuable striker, in my opinion.
00:21:13
Scott Duke_Giles
I mean, I think I would be thinking twice if if we were going at like, right, Richardson's going to play every game. That, I would i would maybe think, hmm, there's lots of thoughts going through my head of that prospect.
00:21:23
Scott Duke_Giles
But for someone to kind of half off the bench in a game where we're not winning, or a game where we've been underwhelming. Oh, I don't think there's anyone better in the league. I think so to to to to to put to put like, um ah he's so random.
00:21:36
Scott Duke_Giles
He's so um kind of, um ah he's got this this kind of one man mad mentality about him where he'll do something amazing and get the fans up.
00:21:45
Scott Duke_Giles
I think, well, not even amazing, you're just putting like a mad challenge or something and get the fans up or he'll win the ball back and give it all the two arms to the home the to the away fans, all the home fans to G them up. and i think he And he kind of gets goals out of nowhere. I think he's really valuable to have off the bench and maybe um hopefully getting some minutes in the Europa League. so yeah yeah but i think he's bob I think he's going to be a player we're going to be talking about a lot. So this is not the last you've heard of Richarlison chat.
00:22:13
officialgspn
i do like I do like that. I've got to admit, I do like the the elbows and the pinching and the diving and the winding up of opposition fans. like I like because it's just amusing and commentators like, no one likes to see that. Everybody likes to see that.
00:22:24
Scott Duke_Giles
ah Come on. Yeah, that's such a good point. Everyone loves to see that.
00:22:27
officialgspn
It's great fun.
00:22:28
Scott Duke_Giles
It is good fun.

um Joe, we've we've talked about one current Tottenham Brazilian. Can you tell us a little bit, give us an update on an ex, sadly, an ex Tottenham Brazilian, please?
00:23:21

So this, this was, this made me smile more than anything today. I was on Twitter kind of checking out what's going on with spurs, which is pretty much what I do when I'm supposed to be working. And I i saw Emerson Royale unveiling video.
00:23:37
officialgspn
come where he I think he went to Milan, didn't he? Yeah, he's gone to Milan. And it starts, it's a very dramatic kind of camera angle. And he's at the end of the long red and black tunnel, all kind of the, there those classic iconic Milan colors. And you can hear this kind of, this noise, this sort of baying mob. And it cuts to a full stadium, or certainly from that angle, what looks like a full stadium of Milan fans.
00:24:04
officialgspn
he walks down the tunnel as he walks down the tunnel there's an english commentator talking over the top of it who i don't think has seen emerson royale play in his entire life because he said he says of course uh wearing the famous number 22 shirt worn by his uh compatriot kaka let's hope he can recreate and bring similar glory to the Rossoneri that Kakka did. And you still think that's a bit of a reach, isn't it? Because I'm sure he's going to be quite fun in the dressing room.
Player Impact in Major Tournaments: A Discussion
00:24:37
officialgspn
I'm not sure he's going to light up World Cups and Champions League finals, but you don't know. You don't know. Look, like I never disliked it. I was very, very well liked. I know among the players and among the staff and stuff at Tottenham Hotspur Way and all that kind of thing. I think he's a good guy.
Right-back Dilemmas Post-Carl Walker
00:24:53
officialgspn
I never thought he was particularly good footballer, to be honest. I think like that right back position pretty much until Pedro Porro came along was cursed for us, for ever since Carl Walker left.
00:25:01
officialgspn
um And to be honest, we've been North Korean Trippier saying that he was rubbish and he went and won the league in Spain, so we were wrong.
00:25:07
officialgspn
um But yeah, I just think, I don't know, I think that kind of succession of right back's kind of Aria Sosoko and then Royale was, yeah, it was pretty drab. um And I don't think he was good enough to play for Spurs.
00:25:21
officialgspn
um I wish him all the best. I don't think he's the next caca. So um yeah, yeah, what what what do
Emerson Rowell's Quirky Legacy
00:25:27
officialgspn
you think, mate? What's what's Emerson Rowell's legacy? I get the sense you like him.
00:25:31
Scott Duke_Giles
Oh, God, yeah. i think I think he's one of the best things to happen to the club in recent memory.
00:25:36
Scott Duke_Giles
um I love everything about him.
00:25:39
Scott Duke_Giles
I love his no-look passes that get sent out for goal kicks. I love ah his his ridiculous hairstyles. I love the fact that he made a compilation about his the birth of his son in the hospital.
00:25:51
Scott Duke_Giles
that Oh, it's all good. And I think this is kind of genius from Milan. to kind of you bought You want to lean into this, because he can be a cult figure. i this And then you get the fans on the side by making him out there, he's the next Kakka.
00:26:05
Scott Duke_Giles
And then kind of like he'll he'll do what he does amazingly, which is essentially kind of you know be a large kind of meme slash joke.
00:26:13
Scott Duke_Giles
um and like And in terms of like how to get semi-series, I think like he has shown a lot at Tottenham in terms of, I remember when he was subbed on at one point and the fans booed him.
00:26:27
Scott Duke_Giles
And to come back from that and kind of be have this kind of feeling where generally Tottenham fans think, oh, Bush and Will, all this kind of stuff. And I know there's an argument to say that might happen anyway. But like he could have I think it would have been so fair of him to be like, oh, rubbish. Who cares about this? I'm gone now. If the fans are booming when I'm off coming on the pitch, I'm never going to train again. I'm never going to play again. And that would have been fine.
00:26:49
Scott Duke_Giles
I think they're fine for him to do that. So, yeah, I think I obviously echo your sentiments. I wish the man the best. He will always have a place in my heart. Absolutely. I kind of ah I hope in reading we get to play against him again and some at some point ah the Champions League or yeah, yeah, that would be that would be absolutely amazing.
00:27:03
officialgspn
Oh, yeah. Standing Evasion.
00:27:09
Scott Duke_Giles
So, yeah.
Emerson's Farewell and Scouting Surprise
00:27:11
officialgspn
To make this story even more extraordinary, apparently, he was he was scouted by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
00:27:18
officialgspn
You've got better things to do with your times, Zlatan, than go and watch Emerson right now. What are you doing? um But he did he did give a very nice parting message to the Spurs fans saying he loves you he he loves the Tottenham fans.
00:27:30
officialgspn
And Poster Koglu said he was a great guy to have around everything. So, yeah. Best of luck to ever some real.
