Speaker: Hey fam, it's Mel Mel.
Speaker: I am so happy to have you guys sharing this journey with us.
Speaker: I wanted to introduce myself and give you a little information on me.
Speaker: I am a stay at home mom.
Speaker: I have one little beautiful baby girl.
Speaker: She's 18 months old.
Speaker: Her name is Isabella.
Speaker: I am married to a wonderful man that is active duty.
Speaker: So if anybody is in the military community, you know how that goes.
Speaker: Definitely blessed and grateful for my family.
Speaker: I also just graduated with my bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Speaker: So I am super excited about my
Speaker: journey coming up with that career.
Speaker: And also I am a content creator on Facebook.
Speaker: Tay and I do run a handful of pages.
Speaker: Some of them consist of spirituality.
Speaker: Others are just self-awareness, self-love, self-care type of
Speaker: aesthetic pages, also some color aesthetic pages.
Speaker: So we definitely try to spread the love in many different ways.
Speaker: But I am definitely looking forward to this podcast with Tay Tay.
Speaker: We've been working on this for a while.
Speaker: So we're happy to have you guys sharing this journey with us.
Speaker: I love it, Mel, and I'm just so happy for you and your beautiful family and all that you've accomplished and all that you will continue to accomplish, girl.
Speaker: So I just wanted to share a little bit about myself.
Speaker: My name is Taye Wavey.
Speaker: I'm 29 years old.
Speaker: I'm a mom of three beautiful kids.
Speaker: I have a nine-year-old boy, eight-year-old girl, and five-year-old boy.
Speaker: I'm currently dating the love of my life.
Speaker: He's an amazing man.
Speaker: I am an entrepreneur.
Speaker: I am a content creator on Facebook and Instagram.
Speaker: Like Mel Mel was saying, we run a bunch of groups together.
Speaker: I have a couple groups of my own as well, just hyper-focusing on that self-care, on aesthetics, on connecting with others, and just overall growth as a community.
Speaker: That's something that's very important to me.
Speaker: I'm also currently on a holistic health journey,
Speaker: I'm trying and will succeed on reversing an aggressive autoimmune disease.
Speaker: So I've been on a holistic health journey for, I think, like almost a year and a half, two years at this point.
Speaker: So I love holistic health and spirituality has played a huge role in my healing journey.
Speaker: And I'm excited.
Speaker: I'm excited to be doing this podcast with Mel Mel.
Speaker: I couldn't think of a better partner.
Speaker: And we just want to bring to the table all the things that we know, anything that we find out along the way.
Speaker: We wanted a place that we can share that with y'all and a place where we can just have a safe place to build each other up, grow together and connect as one.
Speaker: So yeah, that's a little bit about me.
Speaker: And like I was saying in the intro, this topic is going to hyper-focus on just introducing spirituality, what spirituality means to us, things we've done along the way.
Speaker: If you've been in the spiritual community or on a spiritual journey yourself, I'm sure a lot of this will resonate with you.
Speaker: Or if spirituality is something that you've wanted to dive deeper in, I hope that you can find peace, knowledge, and a sense of direction.
Speaker: We'll be dropping our social media handles in the description of this podcast.
Speaker: So if you have any questions or you want to connect with somebody, feel free to reach out to us.
Speaker: And we'd love to continue to support you on your journey.
Speaker: Yes, very excited.
Speaker: Very, very excited to share this with you guys.
Speaker: We have so, so many topics that we want to cover.
Speaker: We definitely want you guys to feel safe and at home with us.
Speaker: And not only can we learn from our experiences in this journey and share them with you, but also to just gain as much knowledge as we possibly can and experience from this journey and just share as much as we can with all of you so we can hopefully help you to find peace in your journey as well.
Speaker: Yes, girl.
Speaker: Ashe, Ashe.
Speaker: So I just want to jump right into it.
Speaker: We're going to ask each other a couple of questions and just keep the conversation going.
Speaker: So Mel-Mel, what does spirituality mean to you personally?
Speaker: So for me, spirituality is definitely connection with self.
Speaker: But not only connection with self, it's also connection with everything.
Speaker: in the universe, in the world, just in general.
Speaker: I feel like it allows for me to feel more free, to have more peace, stillness, acceptance in my life.
Speaker: Since I started this journey, and I'm so glad that I did, let me just emphasize that, it really has helped me to
Speaker: find myself.
Speaker: When I first started, I was not necessarily in the worst place that I've been, but one of the harder places.
Speaker: My husband had just left for boot camp and AIT.
Speaker: That was the first time that I had been away from him.
Speaker: And he did just get to America six months before making that decision.
Speaker: So we didn't really have much time together in the first place.
Speaker: And so when he left, it was hard.
Speaker: It was hard for me to be alone.
Speaker: And I also, in a sense, felt like something was not healthy about that.
Speaker: So I started looking into...
Speaker: spirituality.
Speaker: And it just kind of came across to me.
Speaker: And I started working on myself.
Speaker: And I guess maybe it was the best time for that to happen.
Speaker: Because I've I learned to be alone and be happy with being alone.
Speaker: Of course, I love him and I want to be with my husband.
Speaker: But I also recognize that I needed to love myself and be happy within myself and be
Speaker: content within my own space before I could really have that kind of genuine connection with someone else.
Speaker: You know what I mean?
Speaker: So, um, that is kind of where it all started.
Speaker: I kind of started looking in, inwards, um, working on and recognizing my traumas and my insecurities and,
Speaker: And so that is kind of where it all began.
Speaker: I don't want to get too far into it because we do have a lot of other questions to cover.
Speaker: And I don't want to, you know, spend too much time in that specific area because we have lots of time together.
Speaker: But I definitely feel like it's just about looking at yourself, looking inward and learning to love yourself and be content with who you are.
Speaker: and working through those experiences and triggers that we probably never really realized we had.
Speaker: So self-reflection is very, very significant.
Speaker: So yeah, that's definitely a chunk of what that means to me when it comes to spirituality.
Speaker: I love that so much.
Speaker: And like when you were saying just like how spirituality has helped you feel free, I was like, oof, yes.
Speaker: I definitely resonate with that as well.
Speaker: And my story is very similar, different.
Speaker: Spirituality to me is –
Speaker: Yeah, it's a sense of freedom and it's a sense of inner freedom because you can have all the money in the world.
Speaker: You can have all of the resources in the world.
Speaker: But if you don't feel free in your soul, if your mind does not feel free, I feel like nothing else really matters.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: I also was at one of the lowest points a couple years ago.
Speaker: I was 26 years old.
Speaker: That's when I started feeling like very sick.
Speaker: I moved to a completely different state, like all by myself, trying to get my family established somewhere else.
Speaker: And I was completely alone.
Speaker: And I knew the only way out of my situation was
Speaker: was to go in.
Speaker: The only way out was in, and I had to go within myself and start healing myself.
Speaker: So spirituality to me is a way to break free.
Speaker: It's a way to break free from the matrix.
Speaker: It's a way to break free from, in a way, like everything that we were taught that doesn't feel right.
Speaker: I grew up in the church, went to private school for many years, and
Speaker: very involved in the church.
Speaker: And there were certain things that just didn't sit well with me.
Speaker: There were certain characteristics of people in religion that didn't sit well with me.
Speaker: There were things that just downright didn't make sense or feel right in my soul.
Speaker: So for me, it was just a personal, intimate journey that started with myself, but ended up connecting me to that source energy, to that higher power, to God, to whatever
Speaker: You want to call it.
Speaker: And just having that connection helped me elevate my mind, my soul, my body, my relationships.
Speaker: Everything started to come together, even though things were falling apart for me.
Speaker: So it was having that peace and having that stillness in the midst of my storms and knowing that I was destined for something greater, that everything is connected in some way, shape, or form, that the entire universe is supporting me in everything that I do.
Speaker: It really just brought me to that next level, and I never looked back.
Speaker: I never looked back down to, like, right now.
Speaker: Like, I'm currently studying for a PhD in metaphysics and science because I just want to know more.
Speaker: I just want to continue to be educated in not just one...
Speaker: aspect of spirituality, but there's so much that you can dive into from the historical aspects of ancient texts and teachings and prophets and gods and goddesses and rulers and the way different religions transcend into each other.
Speaker: So I guess to kind of get to the point of the question, to me, it's a way to break free
Speaker: And to tap in with your higher self and kind of let some of that ego go and just walk in your divine purpose.
Speaker: And that's what I love about spirituality, that now more than ever, things are not perfect for me.
Speaker: Things are not always going the way that I would like them to.
Speaker: But I know that I'm walking in my divine energy.
Speaker: I'm walking in my divine purpose, that everything happens for a reason.
Speaker: Everything happens for a season.
Speaker: There are things that will last a lifetime.
Speaker: And I'm just here to enjoy the human experience, which is something I struggled with because I had very, very bad depression, like considered ending my life.
Speaker: There was just so much negativity and I couldn't embrace the human experience.
Speaker: But finding purpose and spirituality and purpose within myself really has me enjoying the ups, the downs, the good, and the bad of every human experience that I'm having right now in this lifetime.
Speaker: Yeah, and I feel like a lot of people can relate to that because we are brought up to, most importantly, believe in things that are misconstrued, if you will, if you want to say it that way.
Speaker: And they kind of switch things and what their original meaning are.
Speaker: So like you were talking about ancient,
Speaker: context and historical aspects of religion, society, um, human nature, the universe, all of those things that are ultimately connected.
Speaker: Um, you know, holidays, things in that nature.
Speaker: There's so many things.
Speaker: And even me being raised in the church as well.
Speaker: I went to church every Easter, every Christmas, every Sunday, like have my little Easter outfit on, have my little church dress on with my church chat and all of that stuff.
Speaker: And, um,
Speaker: you know, it was a huge part of my life.
Speaker: But then when I got older and I started this journey, I realized that there was a lot of things that just did, like you said, didn't make sense, didn't add up.
Speaker: And I feel like once you know, you know, and you can't go back, you can't look backwards.
Speaker: You only want to find out more.
Speaker: You want to learn more and gain as much knowledge as you possibly can.
Speaker: And I feel like that's what a lot of people are still...
Speaker: lost in the matrix.
Speaker: And they don't, they don't realize that there's a lot of things that, again, we were taught that that wasn't necessarily true, or the the context was switched or flipped or however you want to say it.
Speaker: And I think it's very important that we we learn as much as we can, especially now when like people are waking up, people are seeing things for what they are.
Speaker: And I'm not, I'm not specifically saying like,
Speaker: things that you're taught in the church are wrong.
Speaker: That's not what I'm trying to imply.
Speaker: I'm just implying that there are things that, like you said, characteristic wise, belief wise, standard wise, value wise, that kind of just doesn't make sense anymore.
Speaker: When you're a child, that's just like what you're taught, what you know, what you see, what you hear.
Speaker: But the older that you get, you kind of start to develop your own sense of things and mindset and perspectives and views and beliefs.
Speaker: And my mom is very much so a hardcore Christian.
Speaker: And when we have conversations about spirituality, she's kind of like, you know, I don't really...
Speaker: Don't really know if I want to have this conversation.
Speaker: And, you know, a lot of people are that way.
Speaker: They're just stuck in kind of what they've always known.
Speaker: So I definitely think this is a significant conversation to have, not only to just enlighten, but just to see from a different perspective.
Speaker: Yes, and seeing from a different perspective has been so transformative for me because I learned that everything is based on perspective.
Speaker: You see things differently than I see things, and that's okay, and that's cool, and we can still coexist.
Speaker: And actually, this conversation that we're having right now ties perfectly into our next question of how would you differentiate spirituality from religion?
Speaker: So –
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: For me, religion leans more towards like external objective experiences.
Speaker: For example, like we were just talking about going to church.
Speaker: Now there's nothing wrong with going to church.
Speaker: I used to sing in the choir.
Speaker: I used to be a part of like, you know, all the holiday events.
Speaker: I used to even walk down the aisle with the white robe and the candle.
Speaker: I was...
Speaker: did all of it.
Speaker: But one thing I try to emphasize to my mom is you can pray anywhere because if God is within you, God is a part of you, whichever God that is for you, you should be able to honor them, pray to him, pray to him, you, Jah, whatever it is, wherever you are.
Speaker: Why do you have to go into a building to pray?
Speaker: him or to thank him or, you know, express yourself, maybe even tell your secrets or tell, you know, your experiences, your traumas, vent to God.
Speaker: Why is it that you have to go into a building to do that?
Speaker: So that's something that very much so ties into religion is the external aspect of it in comparison to
Speaker: spirituality, it's, it's focuses and emphasizes inward.
Speaker: So within yourself, self-reflection, um, inner understanding of you and what connection you have with your purpose, why you're here, um, you know, connecting with the universe on a deeper level with yourself on a deeper level.
Speaker: And I, I feel like,
Speaker: a lot of people get that misconstrued.
Speaker: I definitely, yeah, I feel that.
Speaker: I feel like a lot of people get that misconstrued.
Speaker: For me, when I hear religion, I think of one set way.
Speaker: Like there's one way, no matter what your religion is, we do things this way.
Speaker: We don't do that.
Speaker: We do this.
Speaker: You kind of can't branch off too much, even though there's different denominations within
Speaker: you know, multiple religions and stuff like that.
Speaker: It just feels like there's one set way.
Speaker: And that's one of the things that never sat well with me.
Speaker: Um, what I love so much about spirituality, and this is from my own experience, is I saw there was a lot of transcending points, beliefs, rituals, and so on within multiple religions.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: For a while, I was a Christian.
Speaker: For a while, I started to get into Buddhism.
Speaker: I started to get into Hinduism.
Speaker: I started to get into so many different things.
Speaker: And I noticed all the key points that I loved about each religion were the same.
Speaker: So that's where a light bulb went off for me.
Speaker: And I was like, okay, there's something transcending here.
Speaker: And there isn't one set way to show love to yourself and to show love to others, to live right.
Speaker: to do right by your neighbor, to do right by the earth, to do right by your family.
Speaker: And that's like one of the biggest differences that I have found myself.
Speaker: Along my journey, I grew up kind of being told there's one God, God is this person, God is this man, there is a savior, that's it, that's all.
Speaker: You lean on him.
Speaker: You lean on that.
Speaker: And that's the only way you're going to get through life.
Speaker: And I did that.
Speaker: And I was not getting through life.
Speaker: I was not.
Speaker: I was not okay.
Speaker: So I started digging deeper.
Speaker: And for me, I did go back to the Bible and I did read the passage where it talks about being made in the image of God.
Speaker: Like I am a reflection of God.
Speaker: Therefore, I am God in my own way.
Speaker: I'm not that source creative, you know, creator of the universe and all the realms and stuff.
Speaker: But I am God.
Speaker: I am the creator of this life that I'm living here.
Speaker: No one is coming to save me.
Speaker: Um, I just kind of sat in my depression and waited for Jesus to come down and like pick me up and be like, Hey, everything's going to be okay.
Speaker: Um, and upon seeking Christ, I found Christ consciousness and that was something I had to do.
Speaker: That's a state of mind that I had to find, um, so that I was able to save myself, but not only save myself, then turn around and spread the word and tell other people,
Speaker: that you are the creator of your own life.
Speaker: You are a powerful being.
Speaker: You can perform miracles.
Speaker: You can manifest things and work for things to show up in your reality.
Speaker: You have the power to reach Christ consciousness, which is that love, which is that
Speaker: healing, which is the ability to help teach and guide others.
Speaker: So the biggest difference for me is that like I can do things 20 different ways and it's okay.
Speaker: I have peace with that.
Speaker: I'm not stuck in this box.
Speaker: And I feel like religion boxes a lot of people in
Speaker: And I noticed, and I just talk about Christianity so much because that's so much around me in my life.
Speaker: My mom's a pastor.
Speaker: My dad's involved with church.
Speaker: I was very involved with church.
Speaker: So I find myself around Christians a lot.
Speaker: And sometimes I find when I'm talking to Christians, they're like, oh, I like what you're doing, but I feel like that's against what my church is telling me.
Speaker: So I can't dive deeper into that.
Speaker: Why?
Speaker: Why are we limiting ourselves?
Speaker: I feel like that's a trick.
Speaker: That's a trick of the enemy, if you would.
Speaker: And I want to go deeper.
Speaker: If you know me in real life, you know that I am a deep soul, okay?
Speaker: I want to know everything.
Speaker: I want to try different things.
Speaker: I want to have that freedom to explore different things, which is why I broke free to
Speaker: from that box of religion.
Speaker: And I say this with love, if you are a part of a religion, shout out to you.
Speaker: If that works for you and that's where you find peace, shout out to you because that's what this is all about, finding peace.
Speaker: I know people who are in multiple different religions and they are happy and they find that inner peace and they find that inner joy and that's great.
Speaker: But for some people, there is a different calling.
Speaker: So I try to remind people through conversations, through
Speaker: through some of the content that I post and share, that it's okay if you feel like you don't fit into that religious box.
Speaker: That doesn't make you less of a spiritual person.
Speaker: That does not make you less favored.
Speaker: That does not mean that you are going to hell and you don't have eternal life.
Speaker: I feel like once you find peace within yourself and once you open up your mind to spirituality, you start experiencing heaven every single day.
Speaker: I find heaven
Speaker: in something, in some place, in some situation, in some conversation every single day.
Speaker: And I think that that's so beautiful instead of sitting there waiting to die and then to finally find peace.
Speaker: I am so big on finding peace right now, finding heaven right now.
Speaker: Heaven is here, heaven is now.
Speaker: That's something that I believe.
Speaker: And just being able to break out of that box has been pivotal for me
Speaker: And that's like the biggest difference between spirituality and religion, kind of back to that freedom.
Speaker: And I love having that freedom so, so much.
Speaker: Yeah, most definitely.
Speaker: It's being in that box that you kept referencing too is how I felt my whole life as well.
Speaker: It's like you can't say certain things.
Speaker: You can't do certain things.
Speaker: You can't go certain places or you're going to be judged or looked down upon or told that you're not.
Speaker: living in the line of God or in the eyes of God and you will be judged for your sins.
Speaker: And I just feel like, I don't know.
Speaker: I just don't feel like that's the right way to live.
Speaker: I feel like freedom of everything, freedom of choice, of emotion, of perspective is so essential to growth as a person that
Speaker: as a wife, a mother, a sister, you know, D, all of the above, you can't explore yourself completely if you're stuck in this tiny little boundary.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yeah, no, I agree.
Speaker: And I feel like just diving into spirituality, like you were saying, has helped me evolve as a mother, as a friend, as a girlfriend, as a daughter, as a sister.
Speaker: I've just found myself
Speaker: more at peace, more capable of being there for others, a broader sense of love and acceptance for all things and all people and all of creation.
Speaker: And it's really just been so beautiful to break free and wake up every single day and feel like this is my world.
Speaker: Anything I want, I can have.
Speaker: I'm in control.
Speaker: Nothing can stop me.
Speaker: And if something tries to stop me, I have the power and the tools and the knowledge and the understandings to overcome it and break free from it.
Speaker: Exactly.
Speaker: It's a mentality.
Speaker: It really is.
Speaker: Your subconscious is so powerful.
Speaker: And I don't think people honestly realize how powerful your thoughts are, how powerful your words are.
Speaker: So if you speak and think and live in negativity, then that is what you're basically, um,
Speaker: creating for yourself and whoever is around you.
Speaker: And in saying that, also keeping your eye on who is around you and the energy you have around you and what they say and think and feel is very important as well.
Speaker: You can't be this like positive light surrounded by darkness, which does tend to happen to like us as empaths or spiritual people.
Speaker: We attract
Speaker: the lost, the broken, the tired, the unwilling.
Speaker: But I feel like when you have that kind of negative, dark energy around you all the time, every day, it really takes away your potential for yourself, your growth for yourself.
Speaker: So it's just very important to remember that, to remember if you want something to speak
Speaker: Speak positively on it every day.
Speaker: Express that.
Speaker: Say it out loud.
Speaker: And really truly believe in it.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: And I love what you were saying about the dark and light.
Speaker: This is something I'm learning in school.
Speaker: But just from a scientific point, darkness absorbs light.
Speaker: And that happens in the world with people that you surround yourself with.
Speaker: But that also happens within self.
Speaker: I find that a lot.
Speaker: And something that I have had to work on is
Speaker: is duality.
Speaker: And there are still pieces of me that have that darkness.
Speaker: And there are pieces of me that will always have darkness because I'm human.
Speaker: I'm having a human experience.
Speaker: So learning how to balance the dark and the light so that my darkness isn't absorbing all my light and I can't go forth and do what I was destined to do or putting myself in situations around people who were
Speaker: more of that darker energy, more of that manipulative, soul-sucking type of energy.
Speaker: Just learning how to balance those spaces has been so pivotal, which also, oddly enough, and this is not scripted, so that's crazy, but this conversation has led into our next question.
Speaker: Can spirituality coexist with the secular worldview?
Speaker: Most definitely.
Speaker: I know for some that those –
Speaker: two aspects actually exist side by side.
Speaker: Spirituality tends to focus on peace within an individual.
Speaker: Like we keep emphasizing, it's very internal.
Speaker: But it's not a necessity to connect that with religion.
Speaker: It can work together depending on the individual and their specific beliefs.
Speaker: But I definitely believe that they can coexist 100%.
Speaker: I agree.
Speaker: I agree.
Speaker: And even though I'm spiritual and language warning, like I'm spiritual, but I'm still with the shits.
Speaker: My spirituality coexists with a secular worldview all the time.
Speaker: Duality.
Speaker: When I first started my spiritual journey, I did spend –
Speaker: a few months in like complete isolation.
Speaker: I meditated for hours and hours and hours a day.
Speaker: I engulfed myself in sound frequencies and knowledge and ancient texts in meditation, um, to the point where I was completely isolated from the, um, quote unquote real world.
Speaker: And I needed that.
Speaker: We all need, I feel like we all need a time to, um,
Speaker: kind of isolate ourselves to prepare for our elevation.
Speaker: But staying like that, I don't feel like that's a part of the human experience.
Speaker: I still want to go out and experience things.
Speaker: So especially as a mom, especially as a girlfriend, especially as an entrepreneur, I don't have
Speaker: hours and hours and hours a day on a daily basis to meditate, to study, to listen to sound frequencies and guided meditations and to be in prayer and to fast and this and that.
Speaker: And there are still times like I'll spend a week where I do just that or I'll spend a day where I do just that.
Speaker: But learning how to balance
Speaker: the secular world and the spiritual world has been crucial because I still want to be a present mother.
Speaker: I still want to be a present girlfriend.
Speaker: I still want to hang out and have regular conversations with my friends.
Speaker: I still listen to certain songs that aren't necessarily spiritual and what have you.
Speaker: So you have to learn, in my opinion, you have to learn how to balance your spirituality and your real life.
Speaker: And they transcend.
Speaker: More often than not, my spirituality will transcend into the real world and vice versa.
Speaker: But
Speaker: duality.
Speaker: I'm very big on duality.
Speaker: You can be both.
Speaker: You can be a spiritual being and you can still rock with the human experience.
Speaker: You can still curse and be angry and go out with your friends.
Speaker: There are some days that I'm so busy.
Speaker: I have three kids and I have a business, y'all, and I'm a content creator.
Speaker: Sometimes I literally only have the 25, 30 minutes that
Speaker: I'm in the shower and getting ready to meditate, to pray, to read something, to listen to an uplifting podcast, or to listen to a guided meditation.
Speaker: Sometimes all I have is the first hour that I wake up and the last 20 minutes before bed, and I fall asleep while I'm meditating.
Speaker: I feel like that's just real.
Speaker: And you have to learn how to make
Speaker: both the secular world and your spirituality coexist, or you're going to constantly feel like you're in a state of lack.
Speaker: For a while, I was very hard on myself.
Speaker: Like, oh my gosh, I didn't spend an hour meditating today.
Speaker: Like I'm not doing good on my spiritual journey.
Speaker: Or like I've had a really bad week and I've been really frustrated and stressed out and not praying as often.
Speaker: And like, what does that mean for my spiritual journey?
Speaker: It doesn't mean anything.
Speaker: It means that I'm a human having a human experience and I need to come back
Speaker: balance this stuff or else I'm going to constantly continue feeling hard on myself and continue beating myself down and potentially fall back into that depression that I was in before I started my spiritual journey.
Speaker: So I do feel like it is crucial to understand that you can't have it all.
Speaker: I'm a believer that you can't have it all.
Speaker: You can have it all.
Speaker: You can have it all.
Speaker: You can have your secular life.
Speaker: You can have your business.
Speaker: You can have your family.
Speaker: You can have your friends.
Speaker: You can have your music, you can have whatever it is that you want, and you can still practice your spirituality.
Speaker: So I feel like that's really important for people to know.
Speaker: Yeah, 100%.
Speaker: I agree with that as well.
Speaker: I think just having an open mind in general about life and society and the way that humans function and work in general, like from a psychological aspect, you know, you can
Speaker: You can't live a life of judgment.
Speaker: It's not for anyone to judge.
Speaker: You're not, you're not put on this earth to judge other people.
Speaker: You're here to find your purpose and to fulfill that purpose and to, you know, pour yourself into figuring that out and, and what that is for yourself.
Speaker: And once you do, it's, it's like unlocking this beautiful part of yourself and a part of life.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: that without it, you would never know.
Speaker: And I feel like society right now is, is so judgmental.
Speaker: And just because someone doesn't, you know, does do something that you don't agree with, it's like automatic, like, Oh, you know, I can't talk to you or, you know, I'm going to judge you or I'm going to look down on you.
Speaker: And I don't think, I don't think that's right.
Speaker: I don't think that you should, people should expect that.
Speaker: everyone to see the world or life or other people the way that you do as an individual.
Speaker: I don't think that's fair.
Speaker: I don't think that's logical.
Speaker: We're all different.
Speaker: We're all from different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Speaker: We're from different races, cultures, you know, you know, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker: So to just close your mind and, and be in that, that small little realm of,
Speaker: values, beliefs, opinions, you're going to have a really, really sad, dark, frustrating life if that is the way that you perceive society and other people.
Speaker: It's just not healthy.
Speaker: Like there's things that I don't necessarily agree with.
Speaker: Like I wouldn't go out and make that decision.
Speaker: But at the same time, it's your life.
Speaker: It's your choice.
Speaker: I'm not married to you.
Speaker: You know, I don't have kids with you like that.
Speaker: That's that's up to you if that's the way you want to live your life.
Speaker: And I'm not going to judge you for it.
Speaker: I'm not going to look down on you for it.
Speaker: You know, it has nothing to do with me.
Speaker: You know what I'm saying?
Speaker: So I definitely agree with you in that aspect.
Speaker: And I definitely love your your perspectives as well.
Speaker: Oh, thank you, girl.
Speaker: I truly appreciate that.
Speaker: Um, and kind of like you were saying, there's just so much spirituality is so multifaceted.
Speaker: We are such multifaceted beings.
Speaker: So there's not a one size fits all.
Speaker: What works for me on my journey isn't always going to work for you.
Speaker: Isn't going to always work for my neighbor.
Speaker: Isn't always going to work for you, the viewer who's listening.
Speaker: Um, it's okay.
Speaker: If your spiritual journey doesn't look like my spiritual journey.
Speaker: I think that's what makes spirituality so inclusive, so beautiful, so transcending.
Speaker: It doesn't matter where you've come from.
Speaker: It doesn't matter what you have going on.
Speaker: It doesn't matter where you're at in your life journey.
Speaker: We are all these energetic energy beings in these human bodies here to learn, here to grow, and
Speaker: here to dive deeper, here to unlock those ancient codes that are embedded within our DNA and thrive together and to love together and to heal together.
Speaker: And I think that that's one of the most profound things in spirituality that I love, that it really just, it doesn't matter where you're from, where you're going, whatever, whatever.
Speaker: We can all come together and grow and show love and be one.
Speaker: And that's really what I love the most.
Speaker: And yeah, so for our next question, this is a good one.
Speaker: Are there any common misconceptions about spirituality that
Speaker: that you often encounter.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So branching, it's kind of branching off what we've already kind of touched on.
Speaker: One major misconception is the automatic assumption that if you
Speaker: you believe in spirituality or you live a spiritual life that you don't believe in a God or Jesus Christ, or you can't be a Christian or you can't be, you know, a Catholic because how can you believe in both at the same time, which kind of goes into the secular worldview.
Speaker: It goes into the religion and spirituality we've already touched on and, you
Speaker: For me, that's like automatic, like coming from, like I said, a Christian background, a Christian family.
Speaker: The moment I talk about these things, not saying that they judge me or whatever, but it's just like it's like human nature to just like, oh, you don't believe what I believe in?
Speaker: Let me react.
Speaker: You know, let me get defensive.
Speaker: And it's just like, hold on.
Speaker: Like, I I'm not saying I don't believe what you believe or I can't see your
Speaker: opinion or your perspective on what you believe in, because I was raised that way.
Speaker: So like, I'm familiar with what you believe in, but also like respect me and like my perspective on what I have learned on my journey from, from the spirituality aspect.
Speaker: And I feel like that is a huge number one
Speaker: assumption that people give when you say like, oh, I'm into spirituality and you could be into both religion and spirituality, but automatically that's what they say.
Speaker: And it just drives me crazy.
Speaker: up the wall because I'm just like, why, why, why is that an automatic assumption that I don't like believe in a God because of that?
Speaker: It's like, almost like you, you do witchcraft or something because it's like they, they tie those darker type of entities or, you
Speaker: personalities or whatever into spirituality when it's like one of the most lightest, peaceful, positive aspects of like, if you want to say religion, spirituality, secular, whatever, like D all of the above.
Speaker: It's one of the most positive things to believe in and to live in.
Speaker: And so that's the main thing for me that I see and that I get.
Speaker: And it's like so common.
Speaker: It's almost scary.
Speaker: Yeah, girl.
Speaker: That is like a huge misconception that I deal with.
Speaker: Also, people are literally shook when they're like, okay, you're into spirituality.
Speaker: You don't believe in God.
Speaker: It's like, okay, wait, hold on a second.
Speaker: Not only do I believe in God, but I believe I am God too.
Speaker: Ooh, plot twist.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You think that the things I'm doing, I'm also a tarot reader.
Speaker: I love astrology, all those type of things.
Speaker: I do rituals.
Speaker: I light candles.
Speaker: I use sage.
Speaker: I use Pelo Santo.
Speaker: And people automatically associate that with darkness.
Speaker: And it's like,
Speaker: I'm doing that to save myself, to save my life, to protect myself, to protect my family, to help guide myself, to help guide others.
Speaker: And I feel like, and especially just from talking to Christians, they'd be so confused by that.
Speaker: And it's like, this is how God talks to me.
Speaker: This is how spirit talks to me.
Speaker: They talk through, yes, through my spirit, but through some of these tools as well.
Speaker: And they forget that
Speaker: that Moses was talking to a burning bush.
Speaker: God showed up through a burning bush.
Speaker: And if he showed up through a burning bush for somebody else, he could show up through cards for me.
Speaker: I'm glad I'm not dealing with no burning bushes.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So just kind of thinking that
Speaker: you don't believe in God, that you don't believe in forgiveness, that you don't believe in helping others heal, that it's this selfish journey.
Speaker: And a part of it is selfish.
Speaker: A part of it is dedicated to self, but a huge part of it is being that disciple and going out into the world and sharing the good news that there's hope, that Christ consciousness is for everybody, that healing is for everybody, that
Speaker: I can literally do things in something I've learned through holistic health, through Reiki.
Speaker: I can heal myself.
Speaker: I can help you heal too.
Speaker: There are herbs here to protect us and nourish our body.
Speaker: There are foods that can reverse diseases.
Speaker: There are different meditations to expand your mind and help.
Speaker: Calm your depression, calm your anxiety, calm your illness, whatever it is that you're going through.
Speaker: There is something for that.
Speaker: And you don't just have to wait around on your knees for an answer and sit complacent waiting for some magician.
Speaker: if you would, to come and fix everything for you.
Speaker: Like, no, we were given all the ingredients.
Speaker: We asked for a cake, okay?
Speaker: We want a cake.
Speaker: We are given all the ingredients.
Speaker: We have to bake the cake.
Speaker: And I feel like people forget that, that like you have to put in that work.
Speaker: So that's like one thing.
Speaker: Another huge misconception that I get with spirituality is like, oh, you're spiritual.
Speaker: Oh, you're a light worker.
Speaker: Oh, you're all about like peace and love.
Speaker: And then they think they can play in my face.
Speaker: And that is absolutely not the case.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So like, don't get that twisted.
Speaker: Just because you're spiritual does not mean you are a doormat.
Speaker: And I feel like a lot of people who are new on their spiritual journey are too, not too caught up, but very more so caught up in the love and light aspect of it.
Speaker: They find themselves being walked all over.
Speaker: They're finding themselves in narcissistic situations.
Speaker: They're finding themselves around bad friends who want to use and abuse them or partners or whatever it is.
Speaker: And yeah, like I said earlier, like I'm spiritual, but I'm still with the shit.
Speaker: Like you are not about to play up in my face.
Speaker: I still have boundaries.
Speaker: I can still cuss you out if I feel like you have like disrespected me or overstepped or whatever it is.
Speaker: And I can still put you in your place.
Speaker: And I can still demand respect.
Speaker: And I am still a person with a voice.
Speaker: And just because I like to preach more of a love and light message doesn't mean that you're going to get away with taking advantage of me.
Speaker: And I found myself in situations where I wasn't enforcing my boundaries because I felt like I had to be
Speaker: love and light 24-7, but duality, okay?
Speaker: Just like I'm love and light, I could show you, I could turn up this darkness and let you know that I'm not the one to play with.
Speaker: You know what I mean?
Speaker: It's not that I want to go out into the world and hurt people or hex people or any of that.
Speaker: I mean, whatever, that's a different conversation.
Speaker: But yeah, like I...
Speaker: But it's about healthy boundaries, healthy boundaries.
Speaker: And enforcing those healthy boundaries.
Speaker: Because I had, when I started my spiritual journey, I like wrote down all these healthy boundaries that I was going to start like, you know, applying and enforcing, but I wasn't doing the work of actually enforcing.
Speaker: And I was finding myself like in these horrible friendships or relationships.
Speaker: horrible relationships where people were still treating me poorly.
Speaker: And like, they did not think, and I didn't want to raise my voice anymore.
Speaker: It was like, oh my gosh, like I, I'm full of peace.
Speaker: Like, I don't want to raise my voice.
Speaker: I don't want to put so-and-so in their place.
Speaker: I don't want to start a fight with nobody.
Speaker: Nah, man.
Speaker: Like even back to, back to the Bible, Jesus walked into the church and flipped the table.
Speaker: Sometimes enough is enough.
Speaker: And you can still put your foot down and you can still let people know
Speaker: Just because you're full of love and light does not mean that they are going to play with you.
Speaker: And that is like, that's one of the biggest misconceptions that I have found walking through the secular world.
Speaker: People see light worker, people see love and light, people see a calm person.
Speaker: soft voice, and they forget that I'm powerful.
Speaker: You're powerful.
Speaker: And they think that they can get away with whatever.
Speaker: And yeah, this ain't that.
Speaker: So that's another huge misconception.
Speaker: But I feel like the list goes on and on.
Speaker: There's just so many different things.
Speaker: And if you're listening and you're
Speaker: into spirituality or on your spiritual journey, I'm sure you're thinking of so many examples right now where people have had you twisted, or they've had your ideas twisted, or they've had your rituals twisted, and they think a certain way just because you're spiritual.
Speaker: I feel like that happens with everybody.
Speaker: No matter what religion you're in, no matter what you practice, people always have this misconception.
Speaker: And it's not up to us to change everybody's mind, but it is up to us to let people know th is is where the disrespect is going to end.
Speaker: This is where you're not about to play in my face.
Speaker: This is where you're not about to disrespect me and use me and hurt me because, yeah, I have boundaries.
Speaker: And I love myself enough thanks to going on this spiritual journey and diving deep into self-love that
Speaker: that I'm not going to tolerate this stuff anymore.
Speaker: And I just feel like that's a huge misconception that I deal with all the time that I'm sure is very relatable to plenty of people on this journey as well.
Speaker: Yeah, most definitely.
Speaker: I can agree with that.
Speaker: It's a lot.
Speaker: And I feel like that kind of goes for a lot of things in society and different beliefs and aspects is that there's just always this stereotypical perception of specific types of people.
Speaker: Just like if you have tattoos, you have to be a biker.
Speaker: Or, oh, if...
Speaker: If you have purple hair, you have to be emo.
Speaker: It just seems easier for people to categorize everything instead of really truly understanding that individual because that's what spiritualism is.
Speaker: It's about individualism and self-love and self-reflection and
Speaker: and learning to truly understand yourself at the ultimate level to be able to truly understand everything outside of yourself.
Speaker: And that's what a lot of people lack nowadays.
Speaker: It's like, oh, well, I'm Christian, so I can't believe in this, this and this.
Speaker: And it's like, but you can, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker: But you're choosing to like keep a closed mind and keep everything in this categorization and stereotypical like
Speaker: perspective of everything.
Speaker: And that is one of the biggest issues we have is the closed-mindedness.
Speaker: Yes, girl.
Speaker: And I am just like, so I have so much gratitude because I feel like I used to have a very closed mind and I have so much gratitude for the journey I've been on that has allowed me to see all with my eye, not my eyes, but with my third eye and
Speaker: And I've been able to see so many different perspectives, like you were saying before, and be so much more open to people in their situations and on their journey and where they're at and what they believe in and finding beauty in what people are going through and what I'm going through and just having that transcending love that
Speaker: And that transcending love isn't always like that light, happy love where people can step all over you, but it's that love that allows you to shut down people's misconceptions, to shut down people's judgments, to put people in their place and allow for healthier relationships.
Speaker: relationships and situations and jobs and whatever it is into your life.
Speaker: And I think that's so powerful.
Speaker: And unlocking that power in yourself is so transformative and so pivotal and so uplifting that, I mean, my wish for everybody, which sounds like such a hippie thing to say, but it is what it is.
Speaker: My wish for everybody is that they can feel how I feel
Speaker: in their lifetime.
Speaker: Because I feel like a piece of my journey is what life's all about.
Speaker: Exploring more, asking questions, relearning things, teaching yourself things, loving yourself, healing your traumas, healing your inner child, working through different situations.
Speaker: And yeah, I just think there's just so much power in that.
Speaker: Yeah, emotional intelligence is the word that I would definitely emphasize on after what you just said, because for me, that's something that I have amplified by like five trillion since my spiritual journey, since starting it, because
Speaker: it really allows for you to like, not only know when you're at your limits with other people, with, you know, your job or with family or even your home life, whatever the case is, it allows you to understand and recognize when you're at those points and understand where people
Speaker: push you to those points.
Speaker: And then you, you self reflect and you say to yourself, if this person keeps doing these things to me and keeps making me feel this way, clearly it's not good for me.
Speaker: Let me cut that off.
Speaker: So I feel like, uh, emotional intelligence is so important and I, it really, really, really has helped me so much on this journey.
Speaker: Um, and allows for you to, to,
Speaker: to know how to talk to people, when to back away from people.
Speaker: You know, it's all for yourself, for the sake of your own peace.
Speaker: Yes, ma'am.
Speaker: Heavy on for the sake of your own peace.
