Quarterback Changes: Richardson vs. Flacco

00:02:00
Nacc
Before we get into the pod today, we have um some breaking news. Anthony Richardson has been bech benched excuse me in favor of Joe Flacco. I think most of us could could have seen that that coming. I think Steichen had no choice before um maybe potentially losing ah losing the locker room, so I don't think anyone could really ah Fault him there are obviously probably maybe even his job on the line.

Trade Analysis: Deontay Johnson to the Ravens

00:02:27
Nacc
So I think it was a move that needed to be made I think Flacco in his um Role as the backup came in and has thrown for seven touchdown versus one interception and is completing at least 66% of his passes whereas Anthony Richardson has like the reverse that and and as we mentioned yesterday completing only 44% of those passes So I think good move by the Colts and also we have a trade
00:02:52
Nacc
I mentioned yesterday, Adam Schefter was saying that Deontay Johnson was going to be traded for the end of the week. He was traded today to the Ravens. ah The Ravens sent a fifth round pick to Carolina in exchange for Deontay Johnson and a sixth round pick. So a little bit of a mid draft pick swaps for Deontay Johnson. What do you guys think of that ah trade?
00:03:17
Fabio
i I love this for Lamar. Like Lamar's already on a ridiculous pace from ah from a passing perspective. And just overall, he's playing very, very, very good football, both real life and fantasy. And I think this just elevates him even higher. I i think he's primed for the rest of the season to go on a ridiculous tear and really put together that MVP season that we all know he has in him. And now we can actually put up the numbers to support what he has in him. So I love this for Lamar.
00:03:47
Fabio
uh, from a Deontay Johnson standpoint, I know we went a little bit back and forth in the thread. and I don't hate it for Deontay Johnson. I think this gives him a very safe floor. I think this limits his ceiling a little bit relative to what it was in Carolina.
00:04:02
Fabio
So I don't i know. I got it. You're, you're obviously going to start the author Johnson every single week. And I think this gives them a much safer floor for the rest of the season from a fancy perspective. He's going to definitely help them on the outside. This probably hurts Rashad Bateman or every single Pascatier, not named Z flowers. Um, but I, I wouldn't expect him to get the same level of target chair. He was getting in Carolina. That's the only thing, but I think the quality of his targets are going to be better with Lamar.
00:04:29
Nacc
Yeah. I mean, I think I see it. I agree with some of that, but I think I see it a little bit differently. They don't have a player like that on the roster, like position possession receiver and um a route runner like like he is. He's probably top five in the league in in route running. So I think from a fantasy standpoint, you got to be pretty happy if you're a Deontay Johnson owner. um And as far as targets, like I don't know. I think he's going to see. I think he's going to see his fair share like he's he has. He's he's not going to see, you know, he only had double digit ah targets in three games this year, so it's not going to be that much different. He's not going to probably see double digit targets week in and week out. um But I think that six to eight targets a game is is very doable for him.
00:05:21
Roger Emeka
It was funny on Twitter, there was a funny tweet where someone, Raven's fans were thanking Rashad Bateman for dropping that pass and having that football be hidden in his face, which led them to Deontay Johnson. um i think I think I agree with both of you guys.
00:05:39
Roger Emeka
i think I think Flowers benefits a lot because when he was drafted, he was seen more as a big play, deep threat guy. And he's been leveraged more as a underneath you know a very low, depth of average depth of target type person type player.
00:05:55
Roger Emeka
And I think that's where Deontay Johnson absolutely thrives.
00:05:57
Nacc
Mhm.
00:05:57
Roger Emeka
So I think I see Deontay Johnson playing getting more of the underneath routes. And Zay being more utilized for more yard after catch, more downfield plays. And I think that's where the tight ends are probably going to take a step back.
00:06:10
Roger Emeka
And obviously Rashad Bateman taking a step back. One thing I was surprised of was how much both guys play in the slot. Actually, as far as I think has been playing in the slot 65% of the time, Deontay Johnson, maybe I was actually surprised Deontay Johnson plays more ah out wide.
00:06:21
Fabio
Mm hmm.
00:06:25
Roger Emeka
But I think those guys are are very interchangeable.
00:06:26
Fabio
Yeah.
00:06:28
Nacc
Yeah, he's more of an ex, uh, an ex receiver. Uh, I played a lot of, he's a smaller guy.
00:06:31
Roger Emeka
smaller that's It's more because he's a smaller x, that's why.
00:06:33
Nacc
He's, he's five, I think he's five 10 or five 11, but, um, yeah, he's definitely a smaller ex, but, um, he played a lot of ex in, in, in Pittsburgh.
00:06:33
Fabio
Yeah.
00:06:35
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:06:41
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:06:42
Nacc
So he definitely brings that, uh, to, um, to Baltimore. Uh, okay. So let's quickly dive into our key takeaways from Monday night. Raj, um, what did you, what caught your eye on, on Monday?

Running Back Comparisons: Harris vs. Robinson

00:06:55
Roger Emeka
Yeah, for me it's Najee Harris. I think he's finally having the breakout season we've all been waiting for and it's making me wonder why didn't Arthur Smith deploy Bijon Robinson this way this entire time last year? Like really feeding Harris and we're seeing he's finally showing he's he could be the lead back that we always thought he was.
00:07:15
Roger Emeka
I think the the start was slow, was inefficient, but he's really flipped the script over his last three games. He's absolutely on fire. Three straight, 100-yard rushing performances, averaging 18 carries in those games, 107 yards rushing, two touchdowns, and nearly six yards per carry.
00:07:34
Roger Emeka
It's actually the first time since his rookie year in 2021 that he's hit 100 yards three times in a season, and he's done it three times in a row. And I find he looks more decisive. He looks way more powerful. Looks like he cut down some weight during the offseason, and it's showing that he's more explosive as well, and not not dancing in the line as much on in the line of scrimmage as he's used to. So um I think right now he's playing the running back world, exactly how this dealer just wants. Powerful, efficient,
00:08:02
Roger Emeka
right in tune with their game plan. He's made me eat my words after last year's criticism. So um it's a tough road ahead. He has a quite tough schedule for the fantasy playoffs, but at least Najee is really living up to that first round billing and I'm i'm happy for him.
00:08:15
Nacc
Yeah. So it's funny you say that, um, on Harris lately. Uh, so they were saying since Russell Wilson took, um, took the job, they've been seeing a lot of, uh, a lot less eight man boxes because they respect more him throwing.
00:08:28
Roger Emeka
Hmm.
00:08:31
Nacc
So they're versus what fields had. So they were stacking more of the box at the, at the beginning of the year. And I know you mentioned that Arthur Smith should have deployed Bijon this way. Uh, Warren is still seeing, he saw 14 touches in week seven and another, uh, 11 in week, in week eight.
00:08:50
Nacc
So he's still seeing the Tyler Algier style of touches.
00:08:51
Roger Emeka
Okay.
00:08:54
Nacc
It's just. Najee just looks better in that type of role than I guess a Bijon would. Bijon is more like, you got to play him a little bit more gadgety.
00:09:00
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:09:03
Nacc
He's not that like North South type of guy, right?
00:09:03
Roger Emeka
Yep.
00:09:04
Fabio
Yeah.
00:09:05
Nacc
Whereas that's what Najee, um, that's his kind of specialty. So, um, Yeah, I definitely agree with you. He's definitely coming on and he looks he looks really good.
00:09:18
Nacc
ah Fab, what about you? What did you take away from Monday night?

Giants' O-line Issues and Impact on Neighbors

00:09:23
Fabio
Rest of season concerns for Malik neighbors. So obviously what they're starting left tackle out for the whole season, the old line for the Giants, for the old line for the Giants, Daniel Jones will be and has been under more duress than usual.
00:09:37
Fabio
ah The last two games without Thomas, DJ has been sacked 11 times versus 14 games in the previous six games with Thomas there. ah This obviously translates to less time to throw, erratic decisions, well more than usual I guess, forced balls which will negatively affect negatively affect neighbors relative to his target share and receptions. And you're already seeing it within a little 2 game sample size too. So he went from 35 receptions in 4 games before his concussion to 11 receptions in 2 games post-concussions.
00:10:03
Fabio
Targets have dropped to 21 last two games. So 10 per versus 52 in the first four games. So 13, 13 per game. Targets haven't taken as big of a dip as the receptions or receptions really concerns me. Again, it goes back to the quality of th throws that are going his way that that might be worse than usual.
00:10:21
Nacc
We made a couple of key drops last night though.
00:10:23
Fabio
He did make a couple of key drops too. Yeah. He did make a couple of key drops too. Listen, he's an amazing talent, but rest of the season outlook for me, it's, it drops a little bit. Uh, and unfortunately you might meet matchup dependent giants. However, do have a very, very, very soft schedule from a receiving standpoint, uh, after the week 11 buy. So just keep that in mind. If you're looking for a potential buy low target right after right into his buyer, coming me out of his bike could be interesting. But, um,
00:10:52
Fabio
Yeah, unfortunately, I have, you know, I'm ah' a league neighbors owner and I'm a fan as well. And it's tough. It's tough to see talent not perform, I guess.
00:11:01
Roger Emeka
I have an issue with how they're deploying him um because Daniel Jones is not good pushing the ball deep. And I'm looking on PFF right now and his average depth of target has increased, consider not considerably, but um it's like been increasing every game since his basically just before his concussion.
00:11:12
Fabio
Mm hmm.
00:11:21
Roger Emeka
And I don't understand why they don't deploy more on on the underneath stuff because Daniel Jones just can't get the ball downfield.
00:11:28
Fabio
He always targets Wandell on the underneath stuff. Like his average depth of target for Wandell I think is even in the negative. So I think it's below behind the line of scrimmage. And if if it's not that, then he looks to whoever running back is playing for that time, right?
00:11:41
Fabio
Maliki, he does throw the deep vault to him a lot. I think it's more medium stuff though. I get what you're saying. I do.
00:11:48
Roger Emeka
it's because it's cause malik is more like malik
00:11:50
Fabio
Yeah.
00:11:51
Roger Emeka
What a lot of the the scouts said about Malik was that he's a three three-level guy.
00:11:56
Fabio
yeah
00:11:56
Roger Emeka
It's not just deep.
00:11:57
Fabio
100%.
00:11:57
Roger Emeka
It's not just medium. It's short too, and he can make stuff happen.
00:12:01
Nacc
He's a great route runner.
00:12:01
Roger Emeka
so trying to keep And he's a good route runner, so trying to push stuff deep with a quarterback who does not want to push it deep and cannot push it deep and misses on anticipation, it's they're they're setting them themselves up to fail.
00:12:02
Fabio
Yeah.
00:12:13
Roger Emeka
and Please bring out Drew Lock at some point, man.
00:12:17
Nacc
Oh, I thought that was going to be my next point is where, when do you, when do you turn to drew lock?
00:12:17
Roger Emeka
Please.
00:12:23
Nacc
Like, I think I was listening to Cal brand this morning on, um, good morning football. and And he was saying it to like, like the experiments done. It's been six years. It's been all the same. There's been no progression. They're saying, yeah, okay. They've led them to the playoffs about one year. He won a playoff game fine, but he's just, it's, it's year six and nothing has changed. He's still an average quarterback in the NFL. Um,
00:12:49
Nacc
It's just time to turn the keys, especially with that injury guarantee that he has in his contract. Like you're, you're looking more to move on this year. So, um, maybe get him out of there before he gets hurt. And then you're, you know, you're kind of stuck with him next year.
00:13:03
Fabio
i think I think the bye is going to be a very big time for them to reflect as to what they're going to do. And I wouldn't be surprised if the if they're going to take the bye week and make the quarterback change at that time.
00:13:15
Fabio
like That's two weeks away.
00:13:15
Nacc
yeah we're just we're still two weeks out it's just i don't know i think it's time but
00:13:19
Fabio
it the timing But the timing of it is good.
00:13:19
Nacc
i mean
00:13:21
Fabio
like Listen, if they want to make the quarterback change now, I'm not going to stop them. But if you're looking for a period for them to come out of it and say, hey, you know what? We thought about this and this and that. where We're going to Drew Lock for the rest of the season. like it
00:13:33
Roger Emeka
You know how Joe Shane's number?
00:13:34
Fabio
I wish I did.
00:13:37
Nacc
But you know what, Fab, I don't think just to rebuttal your point, I don't think i'm I'm worried at all about neighbors in fantasy perspective. this is He's only seen two games without double digit targets so far this season. So with targets comes comes production. like He's going to be productive some way somehow. He had a bad game yesterday and still finished with seven for 71. There's going to be a lot of garbage time to him as well. So I think i think yeah he'll be just fine going forward.
00:14:07
Fabio
I hope you're right.
00:14:10
Nacc
um For me, my takeaways is um ah secondary targets getting more involved for for the Steelers where we didn't see that much with with Justin Fields. So since Russell Wilson took over, receivers not named George Pickens have been getting more more involved. So mainly Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin. ah The running backs are also seeing a lot almost a handful of targets each per game in the in the passing game.
00:14:36
Nacc
And we've heard all off season, they're searching for that true, you know, WR two, but they kind of stood pat way, not, not wanting to, to overpay. Um, this offense has back to back 400 yards, uh, of offense for the first time since 2018. And that's the third already this year under Arthur Smith, whereas the follow the past three years, they had zero under, uh, Matt Canada. So.
00:14:59
Nacc
ah you know look pickins has Pickens and Jefferson each saw 53 snaps, both ran 29 routes, both saw five targets. ah Calvin Austin, 38 routes, four targets, he had two TDs, obviously one was on the punt return. And then it Harris, 38 snaps, 13 routes run, four targets. Warren, 26 snaps, 14 routes run in four targets. So there's a lot more of a sharing ah going on and I think there's more of ah they're they're utilizing more of their players. i think Frymuth is the one who's kind of the odd man out right now.
00:15:31
Nacc
He's kind of making some clutch catches, but not seeing all that many targets. So they're, they're spreading the love around. Um, but look, it's, it's too early to start Jefferson in Austin, but maybe something to keep an eye on going forward with, with injuries going on, uh, throughout the league.
00:15:48
Nacc
So kind of happy to see that there's, uh, there's some sharing in targets and they're not just forcing to pickings.
00:15:53
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Has, has Wilson always, uh, targeted tight ends? Like, uh, in the past with Seattle, like, you know, they had like this Lee and, and who is it, who is it during their Super Bowl run?
00:16:01
Nacc
Yeah, it wasn't like.
00:16:05
Fabio
It's a TSN reporter.
00:16:07
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Luke Wilson, those Greg, those Greg, a bit of Greg Olson.
00:16:08
Nacc
Luke Wilson.
00:16:08
Fabio
Yeah.
00:16:10
Roger Emeka
And, uh, wasn't there Jimmy Graham too?
00:16:11
Fabio
yeah
00:16:12
Roger Emeka
Like latter latter day, like Jimmy Graham, I think.
00:16:15
Fabio
Wow.
00:16:15
Nacc
Possibly, yeah.
00:16:15
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:16
Fabio
Yeah.
00:16:17
Nacc
Yeah, but he was never like a huge target of tight ends, right?
00:16:17
Roger Emeka
So it makes sense.
00:16:21
Fabio
No.
00:16:21
Nacc
Like he's known to throw the ball outside, right?
00:16:21
Roger Emeka
No. Exactly.
00:16:23
Nacc
So his his primary receivers are the ones who benefit. And we've seen it the last two games where he's like that moon ball is still alive and well, right? So. Um, yeah, I don't know. It's nice to see them sharing the ball around instead of forcing and force feeding one person and, you know, when double coverage

Injury Updates: Tracy Jr. and Fields

00:16:40
Nacc
and stuff like that. So, um, so that has that, that does it for our takeaways from Monday night football, uh, some injuries to, to note there's a Tyrone Tracy Jr. who looked excellent yesterday. Uh, he's in the concussion protocol, so he's going through the steps now. So just keep an eye on that for a week nine.
00:17:00
Nacc
And Justin Fields actually was the emergency QB ah last night. He's dealing with a hamstring injury going into the bye.
00:17:07
Roger Emeka
It was the backup.
00:17:09
Nacc
um the the The Buffalo, old Buffalo backup.
00:17:14
Roger Emeka
No, don't tell me Nathan Peterman.
00:17:16
Nacc
No, no, no, no, no, no, man, I forget his name.
00:17:18
Fabio
What, Mitch Trubisky?
00:17:19
Nacc
No, he's back with Buffalo, actually. Funny you say.
00:17:26
Nacc
It's going to it's going to bug me, so I'm just going to tell you he Kyle Allen. There you go.
00:17:30
Roger Emeka
Oh yeah.
00:17:30
Fabio
Hmm.
00:17:31
Roger Emeka
Okay.
00:17:31
Nacc
Journeyman.
00:17:32
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
00:17:33
Nacc
Yeah. Okay. So let's go dive into our, uh, love hate record for, for week eight. Um, wasn't our finest hour. Uh, last week we finished seven and five and this week we dip under 500 at five, six and one.
00:17:48
Nacc
Uh, so Fab you lost with Aaron Jones as one of your loves. Um, not, not a very productive week. You did window with JK Dobbins who had a pretty, pretty decent week.
00:17:59
Nacc
Uh, I had.
00:17:59
Fabio
league winner
00:18:00
Nacc
I had, uh, Jaden wallow and waddle, excuse me, and Tyree kill 8.5 and 13.2. So I'm definitely not taking that as a win. Pretty disappointing, uh, with to a back. So, uh, but I did win with Kirk cousins, uh, 32.64.
00:18:14
Nacc
I think, as we mentioned yesterday, I think it's what, like 65 points, uh, or almost 70 points, uh, in two games versus Tampa Bay. Uh, Roger Rico Daudel is late, uh, lead inactive Sunday night football.
00:18:24
Fabio
League winner.
00:18:27
Nacc
So we'll give you a, we'll give you a push on that one. But you hit on your boy Cedric Tillman, who went off for almost 30 points on on Sunday and looked good doing it too. um Fab, you missed on both your hates.
00:18:40
Nacc
Alvin Kamara, 18.2 points and Tony Pallard, almost 15 points finished as RB 20. I hit on both my hates. I had Drake May 11.52.
00:18:51
Nacc
I guess the the injury helped me out a little bit because he did look good to start off that game.
00:18:57
Fabio
Yeah.
00:18:57
Nacc
And I also had Malik neighbors who didn't pass his projections with 14 points. ah Raj i took a little bit of a huge L on on the hate category.
00:19:10
Nacc
Matthew Stafford, who ran rampant on Thursday night, almost 30 points.
00:19:13
Roger Emeka
Yep.
00:19:15
Nacc
And Tyrone Tracy had himself a um a day or a night yesterday on Monday night football. So yeah.
00:19:21
Fabio
He looks good, man.
00:19:23
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:19:23
Fabio
He looks really, really good.
00:19:24
Nacc
Yeah, he does look really good. Hopefully that concussion doesn't doesn't keep him out too long, especially on a short
00:19:28
Fabio
Yeah.

Love Hate Segment: Results and Predictions

00:19:30
Nacc
week.
00:19:30
Nacc
I don't know if he'll be back Sunday, but something to monitor.
00:19:33
Roger Emeka
The Tracy hate the the the comments we got on on YouTube was basically like a segment of mean tweets like It's
00:19:42
Nacc
Yeah, that and tick tock.
00:19:43
Fabio
Yeah.
00:19:44
Nacc
People really people let us have it for that one.
00:19:45
Fabio
I, yeah.
00:19:46
Nacc
It was that one blew up.
00:19:47
Roger Emeka
good, it's all good we deserve it when we're not good we deserve it.
00:19:49
Nacc
Yeah, yeah.
00:19:49
Fabio
I woke up this morning to, yeah I woke up this morning to a multitude of notifications from TikTok and all of them were just like, you guys, you guys miss this one.
00:19:50
Nacc
Keep us accountable.
00:19:50
Roger Emeka
Yeah You're wrong
00:19:51
Nacc
Keep us accountable.
00:19:59
Fabio
You guys are wrong.
00:19:59
Nacc
You're wrong.
00:20:00
Fabio
Bad call. This did not age. Well, this is not age. Well, I was like, yep, it, it does not.
00:20:03
Roger Emeka
is aged like milk.
00:20:04
Fabio
It does not. Thank you very much. yeah Nope.
00:20:06
Roger Emeka
We don't take we don't take it down. We keep it there and we own it.
00:20:09
Fabio
Of course.
00:20:09
Nacc
Yeah, and we're gonna, we've taken down all of your accounts. So next week when we nail all our picks, we're gonna come back at you all.
00:20:13
Fabio
and since so innocent innocent
00:20:14
Nacc
So watch out for that.
00:20:15
Fabio
We keep receipts. We keep receipts.
00:20:16
Roger Emeka
Yeah, yeah.
00:20:17
Nacc
We keep the receipts, exactly. All right, guys, well, it's time for our Love Hate segment for week nine. So, Raj, let's let's kick it off with you. Who who do you love this week?
00:20:28
Roger Emeka
Yeah, love hate has become a bit for me. um and Try not to laugh, but I really love Tayson Hill at Carolina. So obviously we know that the Carolina Panthers are the worst team in football.
00:20:40
Roger Emeka
And you know what the worst team in football does? They give it the most fantasy points to tight ends, running backs, and quarterbacks.
00:20:45
Nacc
Yikes.
00:20:45
Roger Emeka
And you know who plays all those positions?
00:20:47
Nacc
Taste the mail.
00:20:48
Roger Emeka
Tayson Hill.
00:20:51
Roger Emeka
With George Kittle and Pat Frymuth on bye, as well as Perdy and Wilson ah for two QB and superlo super flex nerds. I think Taysim is a great play this week with his QB and Titan eligibility. He's always going to be a tricky player to trust, but he played almost 50% of his snaps last week, came away unscathed, and their car is back their car is expected to be back week nine. Might as well fire up their car as well, because the Panthers are very, very bad on defense. So I really like Taysim Hill this week.
00:21:20
Nacc
but you said you said worst worst team in the league uh jets hold my beer debatable but yeah carolina carolina's carolina is is yeah it's it's bad over there it's bad uh nice that's um gonna keep my eye on that one for sure uh who do you uh who else do you love uh this week
00:21:24
Roger Emeka
No, no, no. There's still a professional outfit.
00:21:26
Fabio
No.
00:21:27
Roger Emeka
Like, no, it's it's they've traded.
00:21:28
Fabio
Yeah. From but from a fantasy from a fantasy perspective, it's it's kind of
00:21:31
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Yeah.
00:21:42
Roger Emeka
Yeah, one that's a little bit more realistic to be fair. No, I'm kidding. But seriously, Joe Flacco against the Vikings. So with the news that Flacco will be starting this week, it's time to fire up Joey Flax, Josh Downs, and Michael Pittman.
00:21:54
Nacc
Enjoy flags.
00:21:56
Roger Emeka
The Vikings defense has allowed Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford to each pass for four TDs in back-to-back weeks. And it's starting to feel like Brian Flores' blitzing scheme has been solved. They've been a bend but not break defense, but lately they're getting gashed on big plays and giving up the second most air yards in the league. And you know what the Colts do best? They air it out. And Flacco, even in his low amount of attempts and fewer games, is fifth highest in intended air yards per attempt.
00:22:26
Roger Emeka
So this is huge news for the c Colts. I think it's huge news for people who have stuck with Flacco. And I think he's a great start this week. And for the Colts, it makes them contenders for a wildcard spot for sure.
00:22:39
Nacc
Yeah, hard to definitely hard to disagree with that. I'm still I'm still shocked that that Flacco didn't enter the game last week. um The game was for the division, so that was it was still pretty shocking to to see that, but.
00:22:52
Roger Emeka
you You know what was frustrating was the discourse on Twitter. There was so many people defending Anthony Richardson, so many different people.
00:22:58
Nacc
Colts fans.
00:22:59
Fabio
Yeah.
00:23:00
Roger Emeka
Yeah, it's ah colts fans are or analysts analysts who put their their all their eggs in Anthony Richardson this offseason and he did not look good.
00:23:01
Nacc
McAfee.
00:23:07
Fabio
Mm hmm.
00:23:08
Nacc
Right. Right.
00:23:12
Roger Emeka
I don't get it.
00:23:13
Nacc
Well, Pat McAfee got roasted too for calling him, you know, soft and this and like, you don't come out of the game and like indie fans are like all over him.
00:23:18
Roger Emeka
No, you shouldn't.
00:23:20
Nacc
And I'm just like, guys, are we watching the same, same thing? Like, I understand you're a fan, but at the end of the day, like you want your quarterback tapping out 22 year old guy, like tapping out in the fourth quarter because he's tired.
00:23:32
Nacc
Like that's not a winner, guys. Like, is it just me or is it, is it just, uh, anyways?
00:23:35
Fabio
now No. No.
00:23:37
Roger Emeka
No, it's ridiculous
00:23:38
Nacc
Yeah. Good call on Flacco Raj. Fab, what about you? Who do you like this week?
00:23:44
Fabio
ah dr Drake London, love me some Drake London versus Dallas.
00:23:44
Nacc
Or love, should I say.
00:23:49
Fabio
In the last two weeks, not counting the buy, in the last two active weeks Dallas would play, the Dallas cornerbacks have surrendered a QB rating of 125 on average and none of their starting cornerbacks have been rated better than 60 on PFF.
00:24:02
Fabio
Actually, they're collectively they're rated the third third worst overall. ah Kirk is a surgeon in the pocket as of late and although Drake fell well short of his average targets last week versus the Bucks. I think there's a bounce back game versus Dallas. Dallas are still missing Micah Parsons, Doron Bland, the Marcus Lawrence is on IR, obviously. ah London paced the entire team in targets last week for six, only one behind Bijon, so I'm not concerned about his usage at all. I think it was just more of a Mooney and a Pitts week. Drake still leads the team by a wide margin in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and TDs. I think he gets back to his wide receiver one stats this week, and I like him a lot versus Dallas this week.
00:24:40
Nacc
No, you love them a lot.
00:24:41
Fabio
I love him a lot. I love him a lot.
00:24:44
Roger Emeka
five
00:24:44
Fabio
Did you guys see the, uh, sorry to interrupt you, Roger. Did you guys see the, uh, the rebuttal that Trayvon digs had to the reporter in the locker room?
00:24:46
Roger Emeka
Fab... Yup. youp
00:24:50
Nacc
These nuts.
00:24:50
Roger Emeka
Yup.
00:24:52
Fabio
These nuts.
00:24:53
Roger Emeka
Yup.
00:24:53
Fabio
It's so stupid.
00:24:54
Nacc
Yeah, that's yeah, it's done done.
00:24:54
Roger Emeka
It's stupid, it really is dumb. Honestly, it's a great soundbite, but classic cowboys.
00:24:59
Fabio
I don't know a hundred percent.
00:25:01
Nacc
Yeah.
00:25:01
Fabio
Yeah.
00:25:02
Roger Emeka
But Fab, you're not concerned that Kirk Cousins has been basically mediocre when he's not playing the Bucks?
00:25:10
Fabio
Well, if you look at all of the game, well, listen, just look at all of Drake London's games apart from last week. And he's been super consistent on targets, on receptions, on TDs, and on yards.
00:25:21
Fabio
So if anything, give me a moat mediocre Kirk Cousins.
00:25:21
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:25:24
Fabio
And I know Drake London is going to have a good game.
00:25:25
Roger Emeka
Okay.
00:25:27
Nacc
Interesting. Who's the second guy you like this week?
00:25:32
Fabio
Garrett Wilson versus Houston on Thursday night football.
00:25:35
Nacc
Oh, we got a jet.
00:25:37
Fabio
We have to have a jet every now and then or else we we won't be doing this podcast proud. ah he go he's He's gone over a hundred yards receiving in three of his last four. ah Since the Adams, since of the Devontae Adams trade, he's actually, I'll pace them 174 yards to 84.
00:25:53
Fabio
ah he's averaging He was averaging 10.9 fantasy points in weeks one to four and now he's at 20.8 points in weeks five to eight. So he's he's been going off lately and he's definitely benefited from having Adams on the opposite side of him to take away some of that heavy D coverage. ah Houston have surrendered the second most passing TDs all year at 16 and I think Wilson takes advantage of that this week. Despite being rated as very good in coverage, Houston are still giving up the eighth most fantasy points to wide receivers.
00:26:19
Fabio
I think Wilson, again, I'll please devote the vate abs this week, gets in the end zone and gets you Y receiver one numbers.
00:26:25
Nacc
That's another, uh, that's another one where we were, uh, we're a little bit off. I remember where there was chatter and he was going to be the number three option.
00:26:30
Fabio
Yeah.
00:26:32
Nacc
And, uh, I think it's really benefited him because now the coverage shifts to Devontae Adams or giving him, uh, much more respect.
00:26:35
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:26:37
Fabio
Mm hmm.
00:26:40
Nacc
So, um, he's thriving with, with less coverage or less double teams on, on him. Whereas Adams is now seeing those. Um, but yeah, I, I definitely agree.
00:26:51
Nacc
I think that's a good call on. on Garrett Wilson on Thursday night for sure.
00:26:56
Roger Emeka
Do we think the Jets become sellers if they lose this game?
00:26:59
Fabio
No, no, I think, yeah.
00:27:00
Nacc
No, no. you You have to go down with the ship at this point. You guys, you invested. First of all, even if you you try to be sellers, like who you who are you selling and everyone knows that there's no one paying the price that you're gonna you're goingnna ask for.
00:27:13
Roger Emeka
Dafonte Adams, my next chapter.
00:27:16
Nacc
Yeah, no, but like imagine, like imagine them putting Davante Adams out there. You think a team is going to give anywhere close to a third round pick for Davante Adams.
00:27:20
Roger Emeka
No, man.
00:27:23
Nacc
They'd be lucky to get a fifth for him at this point.
00:27:26
Fabio
But the Jets do have a soft-ish schedule for the rest of the way for the rest of the season.
00:27:31
Nacc
Fab, fab. So I'm going to, I'm just going to, I'm going to stop you right there.
00:27:32
Roger Emeka
Don't do this. Yeah, seriously, don't do this.
00:27:34
Nacc
I thank you for your Garrett Wilson input.
00:27:34
Roger Emeka
you like it
00:27:36
Nacc
They're two and six. They're done.
00:27:38
Fabio
Guys, you never know, man.
00:27:38
Nacc
Um, let's move along.
00:27:39
Fabio
They can go on a run.
00:27:41
Nacc
Yeah. Yeah. I run. I'll show you. I'm going to run after this pod. Five K fast, fast.

Player Focus: Hopkins and Buccaneers Matchup

00:27:48
Nacc
ah my first love My first love of the week is going to be DeAndre Hopkins versus the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. So he saw three targets and caught two of them for 29 yards in his debut with KC. He was only in on a handful of packages as he was just got there and did on a playbook, played about 32% of the snaps. ah So a veteran like him should now be up to date ah pretty much 80% to 90% if not 100% of the playbook.
00:28:18
Nacc
I expect them to play closer to 70 to 80% of the snaps on Monday night. And Andy Reid also came out to and said today that you could expect a lot more ah DeAndre Hopkins this upcoming week.
00:28:32
Nacc
um
00:28:35
Nacc
So with the wide receiver room looking like an infirmary, Hopkins should see many more opportunities and the Buccaneers are giving up the fifth most panel fantasy points excuse me to ah wide receivers. So I would start him with great confidence in week nine.
00:28:55
Fabio
yeah You know, a lot of those, uh, a lot of those fantasy stats are juiced up. Thanks to Kirk cousins just going, going off on the Buccaneers defense every other week. But, uh, no, this is a great call. And I think, uh, I think Mahomes last week was the first time all season, he actually had 20 fantasy points on the year.
00:29:10
Fabio
Um, so I think he's a sneaky, good start as well.
00:29:10
Nacc
Yeah. And I have to play. ah
00:29:12
Fabio
And so I definitely agree with this.
00:29:15
Nacc
Yep. Start them, start them up. Get Hopkins in there for those of you who picked them up, um, early on when was it Thursday morning or Friday or Wednesday morning, whenever it was Wednesday morning.
00:29:25
Roger Emeka
Wednesday morning.
00:29:27
Nacc
There you go. Uh, second love for of the week for me this week is going to be, uh, Roger Boyd, Jacobi Myers at the Bengals. In his first game without Davante Adams, Mayors was on the field for 81% of the snaps and had a great fantasy day. 7 targets, 6 receptions, 52 yards, and a touchdown. ah He out-targeted and outperformed Brock Bowers, so he's looking like the clear number one option, especially with Gardner Minshew back there.
00:29:55
Nacc
ah The Bengals are middle of the pack giving up the 15th most points to wide receivers but have allowed two wide receivers to hit double digit fantasy points in five straight games. So I see a lot of points being scored in this matchup and Mayors has a good chance to find the end zone again in in week nine. So definitely definitely on my must start list this week.
00:30:16
Roger Emeka
Yeah, Minshu played well last game.
00:30:16
Fabio
the
00:30:18
Roger Emeka
He actually had a pretty good game, surprisingly.
00:30:21
Nacc
Yeah, and I think I don't know I see I see a high scoring game here like they're both kind of teams that are like need wins must win exactly and yeah.
00:30:21
Fabio
yeah
00:30:26
Roger Emeka
Must win. Must win. Must win for the Bengals.
00:30:31
Nacc
Well, that concludes our loves for this week. Let's get into people we hate for week nine. Raj, what do you got?
00:30:38
Roger Emeka
Yeah, I think he's making the third appearance in Love Hate, but I don't like Trevor Lawrence at the Eagles. And don't look now, but the Eagles defense is finally playing to the level that we all expected them to.
00:30:51
Nacc
Yep.
00:30:51
Roger Emeka
In the last three weeks, the Eagles have allowed the fewest points per game in the league. They've sacked the quarterback 14 times and have only allowed 170 passing yards per game in those two games.
00:31:01
Nacc
90% was Daniel Jones.
00:31:06
Roger Emeka
The Jagger's offense has lost Christian Kirk for the season and Brian Thomas may be out for a few weeks. Fire up Evan Ingram so he could spam his way to eight catches for 50 yards, but Lawrence is a major aggression candidate this week against the Eagles ascending defense. Ingram is an interesting player. um Like, yeah, like he just spams his way. Like it's it's very in a, how should I say it? It's it's like empty calories, basically.
00:31:35
Nacc
He's like the Big Mac of the of the tight ends.
00:31:36
Roger Emeka
It's empty calories. and And with Kirk out though, I do see him being the benefactor because he's kind of that underneath guy um with Kirk on that front.
00:31:44
Nacc
Mm hmm.
00:31:47
Roger Emeka
But yeah, this team is um we' waiting for Doug Peterson to get fired at this point.
00:31:50
Nacc
Oh, yeah, I don't I think I'm pretty sure he lost the season, but it's his final one for sure in in Jacksonville.
00:31:53
Fabio
Yeah.
00:31:59
Nacc
But great call. i I hate this matchup at at Philly for sure. I definitely.
00:32:04
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith.
00:32:05
Nacc
and think we'll look at definitely would look at other options if you have.
00:32:08
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:32:09
Nacc
ah Who else do you um hate this week, Raj?
00:32:12
Roger Emeka
Yeah, so don't like the matchup between Amari Cooper and the Dolphins. Cooper is a very talented wide receiver, one of my favorite wide receivers to watch when he's on, but often frustrating as a fantasy option. kicked He kicked off his bills debut with an impressive 16 points, but fell flat against Seattle. Despite logging a 92% snap share, he just had two targets.
00:32:35
Roger Emeka
and a single catch for three yards. This week he faces a Dolphins defense that that allows the second fewest fantasy points to wide receivers per game and is notably more vulnerable to the run than the pass. Given Cooper's inconsistency is a risky play this week against Miami and should likely be avoided in my opinion.
00:32:55
Nacc
Yeah, i don't I don't like the matchup either, to be honest with you.
00:32:59
Roger Emeka
just very up and down player. And like I've had Mark Cooper for a few years and you just never know when he goes off.
00:33:05
Nacc
He's becoming boomer bust, right?
00:33:06
Roger Emeka
And he's big time guy.
00:33:08
Fabio
yeah
00:33:08
Nacc
Yeah, I see it a lot.
00:33:09
Roger Emeka
Big time. Yeah.
00:33:10
Nacc
It's happening. Great, thanks, Raj. Let's move on to Fab. Who do you hate this week?
00:33:17
Fabio
Yeah, uh, to, uh, talk about lower versus the bills at actually at the bills. Um, so Roger little piggyback off you there. It's great to see to a back and healthy again. And for all accounts, he did have a decent first game back for Arizona through for 234 yards and a touchdown with 13 rushing yards on the ground.
00:33:34
Fabio
But he faces a Bill's D that's giving up to six huge fantasy points to a quarterback and have only surrendered a multiple TD passing game twice this season. Buffalo D are actually tied for third in the league with eight interceptions on the year to opposing quarterbacks and have ah and they're allowing opposing quarterbacks to have a passer rating of all only 83, which is top 10 lowest in the league.
00:33:54
Fabio
ah Bill's D are good, and the last time Tua played them, which was at home in Miami, ah he put up 8.3 fantasy points, so now he's going into enemy territory. This is a matchup to avoid. I definitely consider sitting him in 1 QB in Superflex leagues, but you might not have that luxury in 2 QBs and 2 QB

Defense Strategies: Buffalo vs. Tagovailoa

00:34:12
Fabio
leagues. I still think he finishes outside the top 20 this week, just like he did in Week 8.
00:34:17
Nacc
Yeah, they don't play. yeah They don't play great in Buffalo ever. I think they've lost in Buffalo. I don't know how many years running now, but ah yeah, good call on this one because.
00:34:30
Nacc
Yeah, he was he he was decent, but I don't know. No, it didn't look.
00:34:34
Fabio
that he wasn't bad. He was okay. like they should They should have won that game, obviously, but it's not as if he...
00:34:36
Nacc
Yeah.
00:34:38
Nacc
You for sure must have been a bit nervous.
00:34:41
Fabio
For sure. But he had that one... I think, yeah, 13 rushing yards.
00:34:45
Roger Emeka
Nope.
00:34:45
Fabio
I think all that came in one run.
00:34:46
Roger Emeka
The slot where he slid.
00:34:47
Nacc
Yeah, I close. i I swear to God, I close my eyes when I saw him running.
00:34:49
Fabio
Yeah, i would yeah, I was nervous for that too.
00:34:50
Nacc
I'm like, I'm not watching you die, man.
00:34:54
Fabio
I'm i'm happy he slid properly. And hopefully hopefully that trend cont continues of him sliding because you don't want to see this this guy get hurt anymore.
00:34:57
Nacc
Yeah.
00:35:01
Nacc
No, no, definitely not, but definitely a matchup to avoid. Who else you got as your hate this week, Fab?
00:35:09
Fabio
Mr. Call of Duty, um, Keller Murray versus Chicago. Uh, he's coming off.
00:35:13
Nacc
Killstreak.
00:35:14
Fabio
yeah He's coming off two very good games. Uh, both about averaging 22 points fat of 22 fancy points per game versus two very good defense Miami and the chargers. So why is he on my hate list?
00:35:25
Roger Emeka
Thank you.
00:35:25
Fabio
Well, Chicago D does have, does what Miami and the Chargers do, which is only better. ah Chicago rated a top 10 in every single defensive PFF category. and They set for the opposing quarterback when they run out of the pocket and have only allowed for one QB to pass for multiple touchdowns. ah Chicago D have surrendered the lowest pass rating to opposing quarterbacks so far this season and have 13 takeaways, which is seventh best on the season. I think Kyler comes back down to earth a bit this week, puts up low end QB two numbers and ultimately struggles.
00:35:56
Roger Emeka
I agree with this. The cow's been very inconsistent. He has had two straight games of over 20. If he's able to get three three, I think we could see him go on a run, but I'm not convinced either.
00:36:08
Roger Emeka
And the bear secondary is very good. and Aside from like the last quarter, they they pretty much bottled up Jaden Daniels last week.
00:36:15
Fabio
Yeah, Jayden Daniel had 23 fantasy points last week. And I think, what, eight?
00:36:19
Nacc
Well, a chunk of it came on that last play, right?
00:36:21
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:36:21
Fabio
I was going to say, like I think eight seven or eight came from that last play, right?
00:36:23
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:36:25
Fabio
Which was a 50-yard bomb. So you take that away, and only one one quarterback has hit more than 20 fantasy points. And that's Trevor Lords, who was also the only quarterback to throw for multiple touchdown passes against Chicago.
00:36:38
Fabio
Their defense is very good. Their defense is very, very good.
00:36:40
Roger Emeka
And this is Yeah.
00:36:40
Nacc
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they have a good defense.
00:36:40
Fabio
but Again, I prefaced it because Kyler Murray also just went up against two very good defenses as well. And he put up some serious points. Like he hasn't been, he's been, he's, there's a lot of up and downs with him this year. Like right now he's on an up. So maybe this turns into a down because even after this, he has the jets, right? So it's not as if he has a, as a very easy schedule coming up, but we'll see.
00:37:04
Roger Emeka
We talk about the Jed's defense as if it's like a, it's not the same.
00:37:07
Nacc
It's not, I know, I know, it's exactly, yeah.
00:37:09
Roger Emeka
it's It's just, it's not the same.
00:37:10
Fabio
From a fantasy perspective, though, allowing for points against the quarterback, it it's not it's not a bad defense.
00:37:15
Roger Emeka
Saucegarden is not having the same year he's having.
00:37:15
Fabio
but of I think, no, the last few games he struggled, he has.
00:37:19
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:37:20
Fabio
The last few games he struggled quite a bit. he He started off the season really well, the last few games he struggled.
00:37:23
Nacc
Takes a lot of penalties.
00:37:25
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:37:26
Fabio
He's off the sauce, that's what it is.
00:37:30
Fabio
Or on it.
00:37:30
Nacc
Thank you, Fab, thank you, thank you.
00:37:30
Fabio
Or on it, is he on it?
00:37:33
Nacc
I'll go into my first loser of the week, or my first hate, should I say. It's going to be Zae Flowers versus the Broncos. ah So Flowers has had an up and down fantasy season and has not scored since week two. ah He saw 12 targets in week eight while catching seven for about 15. In week nine, he will get a heavy dose of Patrick Sertan on the outside and figures to have a hard time putting up those top 20 numbers in week nine.
00:38:02
Nacc
ah The Denver ge D excuse me gives up the fourth fewest points to wide receivers and only three players have hit 17 fantasy points versus the Broncos all season. Chris Godwin, Cedric Wilson and Jalen Coker. What those names have in common, they are the secondary options on their team. So I think say Flowers struggles in week nine.
00:38:27
Roger Emeka
Fabri, you're not gonna take offense to that? Called your boy a secondary option.
00:38:31
Fabio
Cedric, Chris Godwin.
00:38:32
Nacc
My he kind of technically is, right?
00:38:34
Fabio
Well, yeah, please. Yeah, because ah I don't think Pat's routine even covers the the slot, which is mostly where Chris Godwin operates. as So I'm just I'm just adding clarity.
00:38:40
Nacc
Thank you, Fab, for clearing that up. Rog, pay attention.
00:38:43
Roger Emeka
He moves around. the no but it's more to No, it's just more to say Chris Godwin is like, he's the...
00:38:44
Fabio
um
00:38:45
Nacc
Take your Stanley Cup ear ring out of your ear.
00:38:49
Fabio
Are is there
00:38:52
Nacc
Well, he's the secondary option there, come on.
00:38:54
Roger Emeka
No, yeah, it's fine.
00:38:55
Fabio
By definition, he's the secondary option.
00:38:55
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:38:56
Nacc
I'm just saying for context for context for context of who's going to be covering who?
00:38:56
Roger Emeka
Okay. I got it. No, no, I got it. I didn't.
00:38:58
Fabio
Yeah.
00:38:59
Roger Emeka
Yeah. was It was more, it was, it was more to put some respect on god' Godwin's name and not to necessarily poo-poo over your, your argument about.
00:39:07
Nacc
Yeah, no, I and it's no disrespect to Godwin. I'm just saying he's the secondary option in in Tampa.
00:39:10
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:39:12
Nacc
He was having a strong, strong year before.
00:39:12
Fabio
if if I was going to, I was going to bring that up actually.
00:39:12
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Yeah. It'll be interesting to see if, if, um, certain, if he, if he plays on flowers or I mean, if Deontay Johnson even plays this week.
00:39:23
Nacc
I don't even think I don't even think he plays this week.
00:39:25
Roger Emeka
No, I don't think so either.
00:39:26
Nacc
Yante Johnson because he was hurt.
00:39:27
Fabio
Why?
00:39:28
Nacc
He was hurt. And apparently I saw it like the the Baltimore Ravens Twitter handle tweeted like we made the trade pending physical. So
00:39:36
Fabio
Yes, that's true.
00:39:36
Nacc
If he's hurt and can't pass a physical, the trade isn't gonna go through.
00:39:39
Roger Emeka
These guys, they passed when it's.
00:39:41
Nacc
Yeah, listen, it it is what it is, but it's happened in the past where they didn't pass the physical.
00:39:42
Fabio
Yeah.
00:39:44
Roger Emeka
He was hurt, he was hurt, quote unquote, he was hurt like the like Devontae Adams was hurt.
00:39:48
Fabio
Like deant the Devante Adams.
00:39:49
Nacc
Yeah, yeah, we said the same thing now yesterday, I think.
00:39:50
Fabio
It was a miracle injury.
00:39:52
Nacc
It could have been could have been that, but we'll see.
00:39:55
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:39:55
Nacc
We'll see.
00:39:56
Fabio
You just need to smell the New York air.
00:39:59
Roger Emeka
It smells good.
00:40:00
Nacc
Second guy, second player I hate this week is going to be Rashad White at the Chiefs, Monday Night Football. ah So after two very solid outings in week seven and eight, 29 and 15 points respectively, he gets a tough matchup in week nine versus KC. Most of his points has come as a pass catcher and has been mostly inefficient as a runner.
00:40:24
Nacc
The Chiefs give up the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs and have held the likes of Henry, Bijon, Dobbins and Camara to 13 points or less. He will be touchdown dependent and rookie Bucky Irving has seen a lot more goal line touches as well. So I definitely don't like Rashad White's matchup this week.
00:40:45
Fabio
I think you can go on record for the rest of the season that any running back versus the cheese defense, you don't like as a matchup, especially what they just did.
00:40:49
Roger Emeka
Yeah. Yeah.
00:40:52
Fabio
I think it was but a few days ago. And who did they add in the, uh, who did they, who did they add to the defensive line?
00:40:57
Roger Emeka
Josh Uche. but
00:40:59
Fabio
Yeah.
00:40:59
Nacc
Yeah, we should.
00:40:59
Fabio
Like they're just, they're just getting better.
00:41:00
Nacc
Yeah, linebacker. Yeah, they got him for penis. Yeah, the team is the team is really, really good. I think they're just bearing injury to like my homes. I don't know. I don't see how this team loses, especially like in the playoffs when the time comes, which.
00:41:15
Fabio
You know, it's so funny how like in that small span that Mahomes has been on that team, which has been like what, like six years now, let's say, it's more from such a pass, happy offense, throwing touchdowns, passing touchdowns on the board, throwing for 5,000 yards every single season to now being so predominantly focused on defense and having a good defense. And it's just pushing that team forward because you can argue that offensively, like they're not exactly.
00:41:42
Fabio
scaring anybody necessarily, they're getting it done. Sure. But it's not like the Baltimore Ravens, right? Or anything like that, like such an offensive powerhouse. so And you can see how they just morphed their identity. And I think it's so it's it's of note, it's something to take note of, for sure.
00:41:55
Nacc
Andy read man Andy read.
00:41:56
Fabio
Any read? Yeah. Yeah.
00:41:58
Roger Emeka
It's.
00:41:58
Nacc
Guys they lost their top four receivers like that's crazy.
00:42:02
Fabio
yeah
00:42:02
Roger Emeka
Yeah. It's Andy Reid, but it's also Steve Spagnolo.

Mahomes and Chiefs' Defensive Evolution

00:42:06
Roger Emeka
Like he doesn't get enough credit.
00:42:06
Fabio
Steve Spaggs.
00:42:06
Nacc
Yeah yeah yeah for sure he's a defensive goat.
00:42:07
Fabio
Yeah.
00:42:08
Roger Emeka
it's at And as you say that Fab, it's, it's the reverse of the Patriots, right?
00:42:12
Fabio
Yes.
00:42:13
Roger Emeka
The Patriots started out defense, defense, defense.
00:42:16
Fabio
Yep.
00:42:16
Roger Emeka
And then once they got Randy Moss, yeah. And then once they got Randy Moss, it was all about that's when it was really about all about Tom Brady and throwing it down the field.
00:42:17
Nacc
Run the ball clutch plays yeah.
00:42:19
Fabio
yep
00:42:22
Fabio
Yep.
00:42:24
Roger Emeka
So it's really interesting.
00:42:25
Nacc
You're right. That's honestly, that's a really, really good comparison because that's what it's looking like right now.
00:42:27
Fabio
Mm
00:42:29
Nacc
Running the ball, making the clutch throws.
00:42:30
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:42:31
Fabio
hmm.
00:42:33
Nacc
Okay.
00:42:33
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:42:33
Nacc
He's going to throw his interception or whatever, you know, but it doesn't hurt them because he knows he has that defense. So he could be a little bit more Yolo with some of the, some of the th throws, I guess he makes, but in clutch performance and clutch time, when the game's on the line, he's not going to make the mistake.
00:42:46
Fabio
Yes.
00:42:49
Roger Emeka
If I'll just say one more thing. Mahomes was throughout the first three or four years, he was throwing it downfield, throwing it downfield. And then once once the two high safeties started to come through, he kept trying to push the ball, push the ball downfield.
00:43:04
Roger Emeka
And that's there was that one year where people were wondering whether he was solved or not. Then he came back next year and started throwing it more underneath. And ever since then, he's he's been more of a
00:43:11
Nacc
Yeah.
00:43:14
Roger Emeka
take it, take it safe, take the safe play, not going to push the ball downfield. So it's interesting how the ah too high safety look made Mahomes be maybe, maybe like ah more of a smarter QB, more, more, um, you know, calm in terms of his approach of throwing it down the field.
00:43:31
Nacc
But you got to evolve. He's maturing too, right?
00:43:33
Roger Emeka
Yeah.
00:43:33
Nacc
As a human being, like you, you come into the league, you're young, you're 23, 22, 23 years old.
00:43:33
Fabio
ye yeah
00:43:38
Nacc
Like you're, you want to prove it. You want to throw the ball down the field. Like everyone, all these guys dreams is, is the throw passes in the NFL, right?
00:43:45
Roger Emeka
Yep.
00:43:45
Nacc
You don't want to be handing off the ball, but as you get older and you mature, you're like, you know what? I'd rather win championships. So if this is the way to do it, like, let's just do it. And that's what they're proving today is exactly what he's doing.
00:43:56
Nacc
Doesn't need to throw 50 yard bombs and and whatever. get first down score touchdowns like that's that's what you need to do to to win and then your defense is is there to on the other side.
00:44:01
Roger Emeka
Yes.
00:44:01
Fabio
Yep. Yep.
00:44:06
Nacc
So yeah hard not to like what what the Chiefs are doing. It may not be as sexy as usual but guys seven to know and nowhere near end in sight with with that.
00:44:18
Nacc
So can't fault them.
00:44:19
Roger Emeka
Yep.
