00:00:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to the latest installment of the Daily English Premier League podcast provided to you by Daily EPL team by Global Sports Podcast Network. My name is Mihaj Czarniecki coming to you from California.
00:00:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
And today our panel will have a slight advantage over the over the our beautiful friends from Europe and from the UK because there are two guys from America and one from America.
00:01:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
UK. Let's start with Louis Eastern, proud Liverpool fan wearing a Olympic Lyonnais jersey.
00:01:16
Louie Easton
Yay.
00:01:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
why Why the choice?
00:01:19
Louie Easton
Yeah. Well, because I was in Lyon this summer and i and I saw it in a shop and I du got it. um Also, shout out to the legendary Corantan Tolisso as well. What a baller he was.
00:01:31
Louie Easton
And I would just like to highlight that Ishan is from the UK. So, um you know, we've got a half advantage.
00:01:36
Eshan
Half and half, half and half.
00:01:37
Louie Easton
He just lives over there now and he's lost the accent.
00:01:38
Eshan
yeah
00:01:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
And speaking of which, Ishan coming to you all the as well from California, more specifically from the great city of LA, Los Angeles.
00:01:41
Eshan
Something of a hybrid.
00:01:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ishan, how you doing?
00:01:51
Eshan
I'm good, I'm good. How are we lads? um Better today.
00:01:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
How are we, Lot?
00:01:55
Eshan
Away the lads.
00:01:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, which part of England would you be from, Ishan? Would it be the the northern, the southern, what is it?
00:02:04
Eshan
Well, I'm from Yorkshire, so a bit of basically middle, but born in London, so I don't know.
00:02:05
Louie Easton
It's a mess.
00:02:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yorkshire.
00:02:10
Eshan
All over.
00:02:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
I would never tell. I would never tell as a continent a continentalist from Europe. I would never tell that you you were born in the UK. But okay, such is life. Such is life, guys.
00:02:20
Louie Easton
Where am I from, lads?
00:02:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's take on.
00:02:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm. That is a great question. Hmm. I don't know. Maybe Sri Lanka?
00:02:22
Louie Easton
yeah
00:02:26
Louie Easton
The French city of Lyon, apparently.
00:02:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh, French city of Lyon or maybe India. Never mind. So let's kick off.
00:02:33
Eshan
you
00:02:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's kick off. My part of Europe called India.
00:02:34
Louie Easton
Not for that part of Europe.

Premier League vs. National Team Breaks

00:02:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
So with that beautiful geographical banter, let's move on to the action of of what transpired on Tuesday and on Wednesday Premier League because the Premier League is back, ladies and gentlemen, after the international break.
00:02:38
Louie Easton
All right, anyway, yeah.
00:02:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Some people are super excited that the Premier League is back because they just hate the national team breaks. Would you guys be included in that discussion that you prefer club football over a national team football?
00:03:03
Louie Easton
Yeah, I'd say so.
00:03:04
Eshan
Interesting.
00:03:05
Louie Easton
I mean, i've I've been to so many England matches now, I try to go for every international break. But, I mean, if you have if you had to, say, Liverpool to win the Champions League or England to win the Euros, I'd probably pick the Champions League.
00:03:19
Louie Easton
Mind you, both would be very nice.
00:03:20
Eshan
Interesting.
00:03:23
Eshan
um um
00:03:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
but Perhaps you've already given up on on and on England winning the Euros.
00:03:25
Louie Easton
World Cup would be different, maybe. World Cup would be different.
00:03:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's coming home, right?
00:03:29
Louie Easton
World Cup.
00:03:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's coming home.
00:03:30
Louie Easton
Yes, yes!
00:03:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
This time it's for sure. This time it's for real.
00:03:34
Louie Easton
yes It's like being an Arsenal fan. Next time, it's going to be ours.
00:03:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh my god, you just remind me, you recall me that quote. Like, next year we're doing a title charge? Was that it?
00:03:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Antietate. and
00:03:45
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:03:46
Louie Easton
Andy Tate.
00:03:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
anti
00:03:48
Louie Easton
ah Second half of the season, we're doing a title charge. ah
00:03:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:03:52
Eshan
ah
00:03:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh my goodness. Okay, enough of the butter. Let's move on to

Liverpool vs. Everton Analysis

00:03:58
Louie Easton
Yes.
00:03:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
the first game that we would like to discuss, which is, of course, we have to start with the Mersad-Diabe.
00:04:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, Everton, they were really looking forward to score a league double against Liverpool and the Mersad-Diabe, this time at Anfield. at refield But how did that go for your beautiful friends from over there over the fence, Louis?
00:04:23
Louie Easton
Well, it's it's um it's a very it's one that Liverpool have to be proud of um because the referee had an absolute shocker.
00:04:35
Louie Easton
James Tarkovsky went into Alexis McAllister in the first half and his with with an incredible amount of pace and his studs were on McAllister's calf, his shit area.
00:04:46
Louie Easton
Um, didn't go to the VAR check and it was only a yellow card when I've seen so many worse fouls given, ah sorry, so many less bad fouls given as a yellow card.
00:04:58
Louie Easton
You think of the one that Lewis Skelly did earlier in the season, that was a red. This one is like a ah five game suspension in comparison to that. um So very frustrating. And also Everton did just decide to sit back, which is something that David Moyes has always specialised in throughout his career. We saw it at Sunderland. We've seen it at West Ham.
00:05:18
Louie Easton
He loves having a compact defence sitting back. And that's something that Liverpool have struggled against constantly this season. We always struggle against a low block. Yeah. Jota's goal was very, very well taken, dancing through and ah catching Pickford off guard, ah sending him the wrong way.
00:05:36
Louie Easton
I thought Luis Diaz was probably man of the match, just turning up in loads and loads of areas, constantly involved in the build-up, running non-stop. I say the only thing that worries me about Liverpool at the moment is the lack of rotation.
00:05:49
Louie Easton
um We've seen 14 players used throughout ah the entire season, unless there's an injury crisis, ah hence why Jones is playing it right back.
00:05:52
Eshan
Thank you.
00:05:59
Louie Easton
And i just i just worry um going into the last eight games. You know, there's only half a week of a break now ah for Liverpool before they go to London.
00:06:11
Louie Easton
and that will be a very difficult one. Going to Fulham is always tough in this day and age. So I'd like to see a bit more rotation. I'd like to see a bit more Chiesa, a bit more um Harvey Elliott, maybe a bit of Tibicas as well.
00:06:27
Louie Easton
So and that that's my worry, but a very big three points against a definite banana skin in Everton.
00:06:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, you definitely had to clinch the victory there. And whereas in the first half, from what I can see in the stats, whereas in the first half you yeah allowed Everton to have the ah joint XG at 0.64, in the second half you only gave him 0.03.
00:06:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think that just goes to show that whereas in the first half you could we were more accommodative, in the second half you gave absolutely zero mercy to Everton.
00:06:55
Louie Easton
Yeah. Yeah.
00:07:01
Louie Easton
Yeah, oh oh I'll tell you what that was. It's because we were also attacking the Kop in the second half, which just gives that extra bit of adrenaline ah towards the end of the game.
00:07:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
There you go.
00:07:12
Louie Easton
And, I mean, Everton were very good in the first half. I mean, there were a couple of big chances. Beto hit the post at some point. i can't remember which half that was in.
00:07:19
Eshan
Yeah, that Beto one, I would have bet my house on him scoring in the form that he's been in.
00:07:24
Louie Easton
Yeah, and going past Van Dijk as well.
00:07:27
Eshan
Yeah.
00:07:27
Louie Easton
Not many players in the history of the Premier League can say that they've gone past Van Dijk, especially when Van Dijk was just one-on-one with him. Yeah, Beto is a great player.
00:07:39
Louie Easton
um I thought Kelleher did very well off his line there as well. It was good showing for him.
00:07:42
Eshan
Mm-hmm.
00:07:44
Louie Easton
um And also a big showing for the ah support in Cork as well, because it was Kelleher from our team and it was Jake O'Brien from the Everton side. So some representation there for Cork.
00:07:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:07:55
Louie Easton
Not quite the same pride of Poland that Michal has. But um yeah, there we go.
00:08:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll get to that in a second.

Arsenal's Season and Saka's Importance

00:08:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll get to that in a second while discussing the Arsenal game.
00:08:03
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:08:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But like let's just so let's stay at Enfield. Let's not leave Enfield just yet. Ishan, what differences did you spot ah in the Everton's approach of the game ah from like judging from the gi previous game, like the last a derby at Goodison Park when Everton managed to ah clinch a favorable result for them and now?
00:08:30
Eshan
Yeah, well, in the Goodison game, it was it felt far more open, whereas I think Arnes Lott before this was saying, keep your heads calm, no head loss, because especially at the end of the game at Goodison,
00:08:47
Eshan
ive It's been a long time since we've seen a match where it tempers have fully flared when DeCure went to the fans and Curtis Jones shoved him. It was peak Barclays. but ah ah But in this this match, it was felt like a much calmer affair, especially in the second half.
00:09:04
Eshan
The first half...
00:09:05
Louie Easton
Well, I would like to challenge that because Jota was well in the face of the referees. And also there was that huge ah protest in the first half for the penalty as well.
00:09:17
Louie Easton
So that's sorry for the red card rather.
00:09:19
Eshan
True, true.
00:09:20
Louie Easton
So, I mean, I still think there was a little bit of argy bargy going on there.
00:09:23
Eshan
Yeah, I think it like it started, yeah, well my point is like this is far more greater.
00:09:27
Louie Easton
In comparison, yes.
00:09:33
Eshan
The Goodison was the last match of Goodison as well. think there was way more intensity. There was still intensity here. It's a Mercy's Out derby. There'll never not be intensity. But um that second half was just a professional performance from Liverpool.
00:09:48
Eshan
That first half, I genuinely thought Everton might clinch something. my Beto had like at least three um chances where he got the better of both Kanata and Van Dijk and Everton counterattacked. I was surprised they didn't capitalize, to be honest, on any of those chances.
00:10:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, and that was their loss. Well, their loss and the the final result was probably very fair for Liverpool. Again, discussions about ah the referee. After this result, to Liverpool comfortably sits with 73 points, top of the table, 22 victories, seven draws, one, just one loss.
00:10:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you remember, Louis, who that loss was too?
00:10:30
Louie Easton
Yeah, bloody Forrest. Yeah, that Anfield game.
00:10:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bloody forest. Bloody forest. us
00:10:35
Louie Easton
so Callum Hudson-Odoi.
00:10:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah The same forest which show also defeated Manchester United and yesterday. Unfortunately for us, Ishan. Very fortunate for Louis. We're going to mention that briefly later.
00:10:48
Louie Easton
No, not necessarily, actually, because Forrest are on our tail. They still could win the league. I mean, they have it's very unlikely, but like they could.
00:10:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, oh, oh, oh, hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:10:55
Eshan
you
00:10:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Norris, Nor, Nottingham Forest could win the league. Are you sure you want to proceed with that?
00:10:58
Louie Easton
I mean,
00:11:04
Louie Easton
No, i'm not i'm not I wouldn't put money on it. I'm just saying, they still live if Liverpool were to suddenly go on a losing streak, Nottingham Forest could clinch the could clitch the handles of the Premier League trophy. I'm not saying it will happen, I'm just saying, i like a bit of security. ah i like to be cautious.
00:11:23
Louie Easton
This is what years of Manchester City does to you. Yeah.
00:11:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh goodness, you know what?
00:11:27
Eshan
If it's mathematically possible, it's still a possibility.
00:11:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
I...
00:11:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
goodness, you know what? i hope that you haven't just jinxed your favorite team because...
00:11:37
Louie Easton
No, no, no. If I was to say Liverpool going to win it, that would be jinxing it. I'm saying it's not done.
00:11:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah right.
00:11:44
Louie Easton
You could show me the final 38 games played for every team and I still wouldn't believe Liverpool have won the league yet. that's That's what City have done to me. You don't know. i mean, when was the last time you were in a title race? You don't know from experience quite as well as I have in recent years.
00:12:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, goodness.
00:12:00
Eshan
um To be fair, ah looking at the league table, Liverpool would need eight points in their last eight games to beat Forest. So, ah yeah I...
00:12:10
Louie Easton
I mean, I'm just...
00:12:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, come on.
00:12:13
Eshan
read ah far I get too far off of that.
00:12:13
Louie Easton
Okay, okay, okay.
00:12:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Come on, enough of the Fugazi.
00:12:14
Louie Easton
Points taken.
00:12:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Enough of the Fugazi. All right, Fugazi, Fugazi. Nothing on Forrest. Best of luck to you. You're not going to win the trophy. I'm sorry. Not this time. Maybe next season. and Come on, let's keep it real. And with that beautiful segue, oh my God, I am a Man United fan and I am defending Liverpool in this discussion.
00:12:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
What on earth is going on? That is a great sign that I really need some supplements to get my head straight. And on that note, let's get some Bionic there.
00:12:40
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:12:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Beautiful ads for us, GSPN. Let's go.
00:12:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you.
00:13:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, yes. Thank you, Bionic, for sponsoring our podcast. You're listening to Daily English Premier League provided to you by Global Sports Podcast Network. um Yeah.
00:13:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, I would like to move on from the Liverpool-Everton game. um Again, congratulations to Liverpool for winning that one. And Louis, of course, congratulations to you as well.
00:13:43
Louie Easton
Thank you.
00:13:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
And let's move on to Arsenal. We will mention the the game of Nottingham Forest Man United it slightly later. So I haven't forgotten about that. ah But Arsenal-Fulham is another important game at the top, of course, from Arsenal's perspective. They, of course, had to win that game. And that was a ah great result for Arsenal.
00:14:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Although somebody could ask some questions about not only the injuries which Arsenal incurred, as a result of this game, but also about the sloppiness of the defense at some of the ah parts.
00:14:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
But let's not get ahead. I do not want to get ahead of myself. I want to ask you, Ishan, how did you like the return of Bukayo Saka?
00:14:27
Eshan
um I played my wild card in FPL this weekend, so my FPL is going to be eating for the next few weeks with Bukaya Saka on the team. Seven minutes in, after 101 days out, and he's already back on the score sheet.
00:14:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:14:40
Eshan
it's It's just, ah from an England perspective, it's just beautiful to see. He has such a consistent output, Saka, and... I think he's a joy to watch. I think there's like a there's a few wingers that, especially, going to say City-like, that like play like so systematically and they, you kind of, <unk>s there's ah like a lack of joy.
00:15:05
Eshan
But with Sokka, I always feel like he's, even if he's playing systematically, he it seems like he plays a joy and he plays a freedom. And I'm just glad to see him back.
00:15:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and I really do not blame you. I mean, Bukayo Saka was that one factor that Mikel Azata's side was missing for quite a long time. And, well, of course, you somebody could say that, of course. Like, mar Marino tried to step up and Waineri tried to step up as well. Martinelli, like, he he did a like some somewhat decent job on the left. But let's face it, I mean, Bukayo Saka with, like, ah Arsenal with Bukayo Saka and with Arsenal without Bukayo Saka. are two different teams.
00:15:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Louis, your thoughts on that game and especially on the ah Arsenal situation regarding injuries. I mean, every single time we bring Arsenal, we we end up talking about injuries right there.
00:15:59
Louie Easton
Yeah, I mean, it's plagued their squad this season. ah It's four in one week. So Gabriel went off, Uri and Timber couldn't finish the game. And then there's the question over Calafuri and Ben White as well.
00:16:14
Louie Easton
um But I mean, that still gave some minutes to your Polish compatriots. ah
00:16:22
Eshan
Thank you.
00:16:23
Louie Easton
Go on, you say his name the proper way. I want to hear the proper Polish way.
00:16:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Jakub Kivior! ah
00:16:30
Louie Easton
Oh, that's wonderful. That is beautiful. ah So yeah, he got some minutes, um but a big worry for Arsenal. They will want Gabriel back. um And very annoying for me because I literally just put him in my fantasy team, Sean. So...
00:16:43
Louie Easton
um say I wonder who their number one choice of replacement, maybe it will be Jakub Kiviel, but a good goal for Marino and and i massive, massive ah return for Bukayo Saka. It will be a headache for Thomas Tuchel going forward with the England squad are to decide...
00:17:04
Louie Easton
who to play on the right wing. Cause you've got Palmer, you've got Saka, you've got Foden still, uh, you've got Bowen as well, all in that, uh, slot and Ethan Wannery as well coming through who I thought had a terrific game as well.
00:17:17
Louie Easton
Questions over Fulham's attack. I think, um, they missed a couple of cities. It really couldn't have, it could have not been three points for Arsenal. Um, but putting pressure on Liverpool is exactly what Arsenal want to do.
00:17:31
Louie Easton
Scoring 11 goals in the last five matches will definitely, do that for them so i i still think it's not done and dusted for liverpool and we've seen that from this arsenal game stop laughing
00:17:45
Eshan
No, I didn't say anything. don't know what you're talking about.
00:17:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
i was it I think it might be directed to me. I'm sorry because I'm currently looking at both of us.
00:17:53
Louie Easton
no no it was both of you i saw smirks from both of you there yes it was just outward stop laughing
00:17:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. All right.
00:17:57
Eshan
you
00:17:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fine. You know, the reason why... Okay, you know what? But here's the thing, Louis. The reason why we kind of smirk and somebody could take it as a ah very ah rude, sarcastic smile towards our beloved Louis here.
00:18:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
But let's look at the reality, shall we? Arsenal currently in position number two with 61 points. ah If my math is correct, and I'm a humanist, so it might be wrong, but 12 points...
00:18:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
of advantage by Liverpool. And the remaining games of Arsenal, they will play against Everton, then Brentford, Ipswich, Crystal Palace, and then Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle.
00:18:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
In comparison, um Liverpool will be playing, like when Arsenal plays Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle, Liverpool will play Chelsea, then Arsenal and Brighton.
00:18:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
So,
00:18:50
Louie Easton
yeah
00:18:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
With that being said, do like do we really think that Arsenal has a fighting chance ah with with such schedule?
00:18:58
Louie Easton
Yeah, absolutely. It's the Premier League, of course. and You know, we I mean, that game against Arsenal, if there's a remote amount of possibility that they could still win the league when we play them, can you imagine how...
00:19:13
Louie Easton
much they will fight for that and may i just say it's absolutely criminal that that game is not being shown on tv in the uk it's the three o'clock kickoff on a saturday absolutely criminal that is so bad um i mean chelsea we could still go to still have to go to stanford bridge that's going to be a difficult game for us going to fulham as well after
00:19:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
All right.
00:19:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:19:35
Louie Easton
only half a week of rest and slots still refusing to rotate his squad, which I think, I mean, I mean, that's, that's why I'm worried. I know I spoke about this earlier. I'm sorry. I want to talk more about the other games, but it's the fact that he doesn't rotate. and Just, I don't get it. That's why I prefer Klopp.
00:19:50
Louie Easton
He just rotated, gave everyone a chance.
00:19:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm sure somo Mohamed Salah at the time of Klopp's tenure would absolutely disagree with you. And it was super visible.
00:20:00
Louie Easton
Yeah, well, he, oh he' got he but He's gone quiet recently, hasn't he? so
00:20:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ooh, Louis firing shots left and right at his favorite club.
00:20:06
Louie Easton
didn't He didn't do anything against Everton. didn't do anything against Everton!
00:20:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, come on.
00:20:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, so so is is this going to be the discussion of whether Mohamed Salah is on a scoring draught? Is that it?
00:20:14
Louie Easton
Let's move on.
00:20:20
Louie Easton
I don't want to talk.
00:20:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Come on, man.
00:20:21
Eshan
specific
00:20:21
Louie Easton
I don't want to comment.
00:20:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:20:22
Louie Easton
i

Can Arsenal Challenge Liverpool?

00:20:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Come on, man. Come on. All right.
00:20:23
Louie Easton
No comment, thank you.
00:20:24
Louie Easton
No comment.
00:20:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So if no comment, let's move on to Ishan and and your thoughts on Arsenal's chances of somehow evening even in the playing field.
00:20:35
Eshan
Well, Liverpool would have to lose four, and I repeat four, out of their last eight games to have any chance at choking this position. So...
00:20:47
Eshan
That is a lot to ask of of a team that has not lost in over 200 days.
00:20:48
Louie Easton
I'm... Yeah, I know.
00:20:54
Eshan
200! Like, can we really, like, but let's just, like, respect. I think something that Liverpool have been doing all season is grinding out results.
00:21:04
Eshan
On days when they don't feel great, when everything's going against them, they will still, at worst, come out with a draw.
00:21:09
Louie Easton
Can I just say...
00:21:11
Eshan
Yeah.
00:21:12
Louie Easton
We just lost in the League Cup final to Newcastle.
00:21:15
Eshan
But come on, like they played so fantastically.
00:21:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know what? That's on me. That's on me, Louis, because I predicted that Newcastle wouldn't win it, so I jinxed it. It's on me. You can blame me. You can blame me.
00:21:23
Louie Easton
and I think we all predicted that.
00:21:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Come on, I can take it.
00:21:24
Louie Easton
that i I mean, that was a bad loss.
00:21:26
Eshan
No, I'm...
00:21:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sorry, Sean, you were saying.
00:21:29
Eshan
i don't I don't think that's as bad of a lot.
00:21:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm sorry.
00:21:31
Eshan
Newcastle is a top, top team and they were... They were hungrier on the day, you know? They know how much it meant to their fans and we saw it afterwards with the scenes.
00:21:37
Louie Easton
Yeah. ah The fact that we weren't as hungry is what makes it a bad loss, though. I mean, they went out and they just weren't running.
00:21:44
Eshan
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:21:46
Louie Easton
So I'm still I'm still salty over that. So and I think I have every right to be.
00:21:52
Eshan
Yeah.
00:21:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah. group Agreed, agreed.
00:21:53
Eshan
I think it's um a bitter end to the season considering where we were at ah at the halfway stage, at the first in the Champions League, first in the Prem, looking good in the Cups.
00:22:05
Louie Easton
Yeah, so it's it's it's that that that's what gives me a bit of worry.
00:22:06
Eshan
Yeah.
00:22:10
Louie Easton
Is there a bit of fatigue going into this?
00:22:10
Eshan
yeah
00:22:12
Louie Easton
So I think Arsenal have every right to still think that they can. I mean, albeit a very slim chance, but they can maybe grab something um if I mean, let's just say Arsenal win every single game for the rest of the season, including against us.
00:22:29
Louie Easton
And this is a very tired Liverpool team and one that had i mean struggled against Everton.
00:22:32
Eshan
Mm-hmm.
00:22:35
Louie Easton
let it was ah It was a struggle. They weren't as creative. The midfield just wasn't running as much and there was a lot of sloppiness. um i just i just think that there is still that chance. And until Liverpool can you know prove me wrong with a very good performance against anyone...
00:22:56
Louie Easton
ah then that will give me a bit of motivation. But this in the last few matches, that one against PSG when we looked tired, that one against Newcastle where we looked tired at Wembley, and this one against Everton where we scraped a win after suffering in the first half, um i just and until I see a change, then I'll believe, okay, this is a team that deserves to win the Premier League. Right now, this team that I'm seeing in these last few matches is not the team that deserves to win the Premier League.
00:23:24
Louie Easton
It's not the same team.
00:23:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know what, you're kind of forgetting about one important factor as far as Arsenal's rest of the season may go. And since we're visualising, since you say that it's still possible for Arsenal to somehow catch up to Liverpool and we shouldn't be crowning Liverpool yet, I can also say that Arsenal, they still have a fighting chance of eliminating Real Madrid from the Champions League.
00:23:47
Louie Easton
That is true. That is true.
00:23:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's the same level.
00:23:48
Louie Easton
I forgot about the Champions League.
00:23:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's the same level visualizing. So I think that is one factor that could even out those odds because of the fact that I cannot believe...
00:23:56
Eshan
Yeah, they're going to have that rest.
00:23:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
I refuse to believe that Arsenal will just... Will not put up a fight to Real Madrid. And if they do...
00:24:04
Louie Easton
They absolutely will.
00:24:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
They absolutely will. So as a result of that, I can easily imagine some more injuries on Arsenal's side dropping in ah the at the end of the season. So we could just have that.
00:24:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
I do not want to call it a a to a turtle race at the end, like for those two last three, four fixtures of the Premier League. But this is what it could actually turn out to. Isn't that right, Ishan?
00:24:31
Eshan
I mean, I'd love to see it. it be i think from a neutral perspective, I'm always a football fan first. So if there's any sort of competition we can get in the last few seasons ah last few games of the season, fantastic. I'm all for it.
00:24:47
Eshan
But before a football fan, I'm also a realist. so
00:24:51
Louie Easton
yeah
00:24:53
Eshan
So that's just one mindset.
00:24:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly.
00:24:54
Louie Easton
we'll win We'll win the league, surely, right?
00:24:56
Eshan
Oh, he jinxed it.
00:24:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
You will win the league. Real Madrid will win the Champions League again.
00:24:57
Louie Easton
Touch wood.
00:24:58
Louie Easton
Touch wood.
00:24:59
Eshan
He jinxed it. Oh. Okay.
00:24:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
You heard it here. Yeah.
00:25:01
Eshan
but
00:25:01
Louie Easton
I touched wood! I touched wood! My desk is made of wood. Let's move on.
00:25:04
Eshan
ah god
00:25:05
Louie Easton
Let's move on from this subject as a whole. It's stressing me out now.
00:25:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly. Okay.

VAR Decisions in Brighton vs. Aston Villa

00:25:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Okay. So in order to keep Louis still sane, let's move on to another ad break and then we will focus on the rest of the ah results from the midweek fixtures.
00:25:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly. Thank you, Sankasta, for being such a great sponsor to our podcast. You're listening to Daily English Premier League provided to you by Global Sports Podcast Network.
00:26:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Follow us and like and also ah follow all of the ways how we could ah listen to our podcast. The more you guys are, the the more excited we are to make more episodes just like this one.
00:26:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Louis, a question to you about the rest of the results from the match week 30. and and If you could just tell me if there was a particular result from the matches we haven't covered yet um that deserve an honorable mention, which one would you go for?
00:26:34
Louie Easton
Um, okay, well, I'll start off with, well, if there's just one, okay, I'll oh i'll say Southampton versus Crystal Palace is a very, like, who expected Saints to get anything from that game?
00:26:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:26:49
Louie Easton
One all, Paul Onuatu only denied by a late goal from Matthias Franca, but, uh... ah Paul Onoachu, or as he's known over at St. Mary's, Tall Paul, scored a fantastic goal.
00:27:01
Louie Easton
um You know, amazing teamwork, right place, right time. And there's been so much criticism of him ah from crosses, but he did very well to get onto the end of that and get a goal.
00:27:13
Louie Easton
And, Southampton looked really good. This does not look like one of the worst teams in Premier League history. They came out, they showed some freedom, some expression.
00:27:24
Louie Easton
um For only their 10th point of the season, they've got Spurs next, so maybe they could even grab something there, but... I was really pleasantly surprised by the way Southampton played against a very informed Crystal Palace team.
00:27:38
Louie Easton
I'd also like to mention my fantasy. I brought in three Crystal Palace players. ah Crystal Palace were the most bought players of fantasy this week because they were had such an easy round of fixtures starting with Southampton.
00:27:49
Louie Easton
um Huge, huge surprise there. Huge surprise and credit to Saints for getting a point out of that one. That was a very impressive point.
00:27:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, exactly. So Crystal Palace, they failed to ah roll with this team that they got after the um recent good showing in the FA Cup against Fulham, if my memory serves me correctly.
00:28:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Ishan, how about your highlight?
00:28:12
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:28:14
Eshan
Um, just a note on Southampton. and i think the comparisons with Darby have been so harsh to them because I think it's been born out of the start of the season with Russell Martin where they were just passing out the back, especially that result results that got them sacked, like the Totten result.
00:28:28
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:28:30
Eshan
Like, i think that just like, It built into like the ethos and the way that people talked about them. But and if you compare them to that Derby side, it's night and day. that This Southampton side would beat them like 20-0.
00:28:40
Louie Easton
yeah
00:28:43
Eshan
It would be a drubbing. um
00:28:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
My goodness.
00:28:46
Eshan
My result of the day is probably an obvious one of um Brighton and Villa. I thought that was this was going to lot closer. And in... in The actual game, I hear it was. um Obviously, i was watching the Merset Derby, so i wasn't watching that.
00:29:03
Eshan
um But just scoreline seems like it reflects Villa way nicer than the actual um previews to the games would. So interesting to see Rashford on the score sheet, um Asensi on the score sheet, Mullen even coming on and ah hopping up with more but I just assumed Brighton would put far far more of a fight especially at home at the Amex pushing for European football
00:29:27
Louie Easton
Yeah, I would just like to say um i watched some of this game because ah obviously it was halftime and Liverpool was yeah kicked off 15 minutes later than the rest of the game.
00:29:38
Eshan
mm-hmm
00:29:38
Louie Easton
So I put on ah Brighton versus Villa. um I saw Rashford's goal. um It was very well taken. He was in his own half. It was a counterattack. It was a long ball.
00:29:50
Louie Easton
um He got onto the end of it one on one and ah put it away. Well, Verbruggen did get a hand to it, so I think he'll be quite a disappointed. But then Brighton did get a goal, and it was disallowed.
00:30:03
Louie Easton
And it was just... I can't get my head around it. The ball came over to, I think it was Matoma. His arms were by his sides.
00:30:10
Eshan
Mm-hmm.
00:30:11
Louie Easton
It sort of, like, hits his shoulder, rolls off his elbow, and then just catches Villarov guard. But, you know, if the ball's coming to you at the side... His arms were down and it hits him and goes into the right area for a goal.
00:30:27
Louie Easton
And then it went to VAR. And I just think if that's in any other part of the pitch, that would never be given as a handball. It wasn't given as a handball in real time. And the referee did have a good view of it. And because of there being a two minutes VAR check for a goal that's Brighton got like a couple of minutes after Rashford's goal, that took the entire sting out of the game. And we're having this conversation again.
00:30:51
Louie Easton
VAR over-interfering with football. And see, thats that's what annoys me. um Because Brighton could have got something out of that game, but I think that just sort of deflated them.
00:31:03
Louie Easton
um And yeah, Villa killed it off in the end. Credit to Villa, absolutely. But still question marks over VAR.
00:31:08
Eshan
Yeah, I think i think that the handball rule has been like, it's just been tweaked with in almost meaningless ways in the last few years where it's like, oh, it has to be like a, if it's right before a goal, it doesn't count. or And then like the handball would have 10, 15 seconds way before the goal.
00:31:28
Eshan
And it's still, the gu still goal still gets ruled out. I think with VAR, it's, it's over refereeing the game and with, Referees are so focused on the letter of the law, the letter of the law, the letter of law.
00:31:40
Eshan
But I don't understand why the flow of the game is never mentioned in these. Like, it's it's it's always so frustrating to me um when there's like a two, three, four, five minute VAR check.
00:31:47
Louie Easton
Yeah, it's it's a real thing.
00:31:54
Eshan
And it's like, especially when it's like handball. Okay, there's a little like, oh, is it handball? Is a not? Like, there's a little gray area. With offsides, it's It's either on or off.
00:32:05
Eshan
It's it's it's quite clear.
00:32:06
Louie Easton
Yep.
00:32:08
Eshan
And if if not, give the benefit of the the doubt of the attacker.
00:32:10
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:32:11
Eshan
It's pretty simple.
00:32:12
Louie Easton
And that's the difference between football and other sports as well.
00:32:15
Eshan
Yeah. they just They just deliberate and they deliberate.
00:32:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:32:18
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:32:18
Eshan
And it seems to me like it's a bit of power tripping with the referees. Like now they have all this control, but i'll also devil's advocate.
00:32:31
Eshan
they want to just get the decision right and like they're so focused on that i've been saying this for years i don't understand why there's no challenge system in place why it isn't down to the clubs to actually challenge things because then the clubs can't complain if they didn't challenge it you know ah but like our tech can say whatever he wants after the game but if he didn't do it in the game and he didn't say something in the game he clearly didn't think it was important enough to challenge
00:32:34
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:32:41
Louie Easton
Oh, that's a good point.
00:32:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's like involiable.
00:32:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
but That could actually be a good idea because in volleyball it works perfectly and if somebody wants to present a counter argument, oh, that would just prolong the game.
00:33:04
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:33:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's already prolonged, especially in the in the Premier League, when you have to wait at least five minutes for the VAR assistants to just draw the line instead of using the semi-automated offside.
00:33:07
Eshan
yeah Yeah, exactly.
00:33:18
Louie Easton
they' They're bringing that in next week, I think, or the week after in the Premier League. So that would be a good addition.
00:33:21
Eshan
I saw that.
00:33:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, I guess one thing that we could say about this was... No, not boom, like Jurgen Klopp would say, but finally. Finally!
00:33:32
Louie Easton
yeah
00:33:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
where Were they bringing some automated offside? Okay, so we touched on Brighton against Aston Villa, also Southampton, and their draw against Crystal Palace.
00:33:39
Louie Easton
Southampton Palace.
00:33:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
um What about the other results? Wolves. Somebody would say that maybe hardly comfortable win over West Ham. Just one goal to nil. But nevertheless, very important win for Wolverhampton.
00:33:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I promised that we would speak just a little bit about so about Nottingham Forest winning 1-0 against

Nottingham Forest's Victory Over Man United

00:34:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Man United. ah Ishan, on the on that note...
00:34:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Before we started recording, you said that you actually saw some good positives. Like, good positives, of course.
00:34:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Positives are good.
00:34:13
Eshan
ah
00:34:13
Louie Easton
Heh heh.
00:34:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Positives about Man United game.
00:34:14
Eshan
more positives in the fact that there's something to build on now. I think so much of the season, it's, it's genuinely looked hopeless where you look at the team.
00:34:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:34:23
Eshan
I think we were just talking about Southampton, that game against Southampton. If Amadiello wasn't there, like it would have been such a, like probably the worst point in this entire season, which says quite a lot with how, um, anywho, don't want to,
00:34:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, exactly. Okay, I was just waiting for you to finish the finish the thought.
00:34:45
Eshan
Yeah.
00:34:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Nottingham Forest, yeah, they clinched the three points at home, which was pretty important, which basically, thanks to ah that important ah victory, they moved ah closer to second Arsenal.
00:34:50
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:34:58
Louie Easton
yeah
00:34:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
They now sit on third, Louis.
00:34:59
Louie Easton
And very, very lucky as well, ah Nottingham Forest, that Murillo exists because it he was the sole reason that they got the three points. Him being on that line ah for that last ditch chance for Rasmus Hoyland.
00:35:14
Louie Easton
A couple of good chances for Harry Maguire at the end as well, who went up front. And ah there was that one that just was sort of behind his massive, massive head that he couldn't quite guide in.
00:35:26
Louie Easton
um i just absolutely thought it was hilarious seeing him up front. It's just i I don't watch United much, but I can't imagine that's happened too many times before.
00:35:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maguire is one of our best strikers.
00:35:37
Eshan
um
00:35:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Always. Free kick, you know um a chaotic cross, and he just heads it in.
00:35:40
Eshan
Yeah, Maguire was also the one who had the... Maguire was also the one at the goal line clearance. so
00:35:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
There you go.
00:35:47
Eshan
So, just to...
00:35:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maguire, he's doing everything. He's the renaissance man.
00:35:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's the renaissance of the 21st century.
00:35:50
Louie Easton
ah
00:35:51
Louie Easton
I do. ah
00:35:53
Eshan
Bellany!
00:35:53
Louie Easton
yeah He's one of those players that I would like more if he didn't play for my rivals. But he's a very I felt so bad for him during that just continuous onslaught from ah fans that he was getting.
00:36:02
Eshan
Mm-hmm.
00:36:07
Louie Easton
But I think he's really turned it around this season and he's shown not maybe not 80 million pounds, but somewhere closer to that than what he was shown before.
00:36:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah,
00:36:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah. Yeah.
00:36:17
Eshan
Yeah, just to highlight his horrific abuse.
00:36:21
Eshan
There were games where when Ronaldo was playing for United, um ah Maguire was getting more mentions than Ronaldo was.
00:36:30
Louie Easton
That's crazy.
00:36:30
Eshan
Which is, ah that's insane.
00:36:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:36:32
Eshan
that's like ha and it's just just hatred.
00:36:33
Louie Easton
It's insane.
00:36:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, pure hatred.
00:36:36
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:36:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, unfortunately, as much as I love Man United, I have to admit that sometimes our fan base tends to be unforgiving, and that's putting it mildly.
00:36:43
Eshan
Quite toxic. Yeah.
00:36:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think you would agree with me, Sean.
00:36:46
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:36:47
Eshan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
00:36:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. So let's move on from that game, unless there's something else you want to add about Forest United.
00:36:54
Eshan
No, um, move on.
00:36:55
Louie Easton
Nah, let's move on.
00:36:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, exactly. Let's move on. So, enough talking about Hamman United sucks.
00:36:57
Louie Easton
Ha, ha, ha.
00:37:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've been talking about this for for for many, many, many, many months. So, Bournemouth. Bournemouth. And that is actually a shocker to me. Bournemouth losing to Ipswich Town.
00:37:09
Louie Easton
Yes.
00:37:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Two goals to one at

Bournemouth's Struggle to Salvage Season

00:37:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
home. How can you explain this, Louis? How come Bournemouth couldn't go through Ipswich?
00:37:16
Louie Easton
Well, I just, I i don't think Bournemouth were good enough defensively, and that's something that we don't often say um about Zabani and and Kirkez as well ah have all had terrific seasons, but there were times where Ipswich were getting into the box and
00:37:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sabani.
00:37:36
Louie Easton
And for De Lapp's goal especially, completely unmarked. And you can't give players of that quality space and time in the box because his goal was like a training ground session.
00:37:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Amen.
00:37:51
Louie Easton
Just the ball came to him, clear view, no one onto him, smashing it in emphatically. um Broadhead's goal was a bit of a freakish one that went through Kepa's legs. I thought Kepa had a pretty ah for forgettable game from his perspective. And it was a very eventless end to the game. um and know that because I watched Sky Sports and Evan Nilsson's goal came in the 67th minute and there was not another highlight after that.
00:38:18
Louie Easton
So um make of that what you will.
00:38:18
Eshan
Thank you.
00:38:20
Louie Easton
And if there was something I've forgotten, blame Sky Sports. I was watching the Merseyside derby.
00:38:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Ishan, so now ah looking at the table, Bournemouth currently sitting 10th. In the last five games, they managed to pick up any points just once in their last five games. It was a draw.
00:38:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
All the other games, loss after loss after loss after loss. Ishan, is there a way that Bournemouth could still salvage the end of the season? They were doing so well. What happened?
00:38:51
Eshan
They're doing so well. and It's it's so um so interesting to see. I think it's more less about Bournemouth and more about teams' of reactions to Bournemouth.
00:39:02
Eshan
I think there's a slight underestimation with Bournemouth, even when they went into the Forest game, even when they played Arsenal earlier in the season, like all those games. There was this notion about Bournemouth that they were just a mid table side. I think the lingering effects of their start to the season last year were still like in the back of people's minds.
00:39:22
Eshan
think people went to Bournemouth and expected maybe a tough game, but a winnable game. Whereas in the last, um since that Newcastle win, I think that was the one where they really put a marker down.
00:39:33
Eshan
um
00:39:36
Eshan
I think no team has gone in underestimating them. I think that's a big, big part of it. um Just to segue into Ipswich and the relegation battle talk, um
00:39:49
Eshan
Ipswich's next game is against Wolves. So if if I think this is the but classic six-pointer. um If Ipswich need to win this, they're currently at nine points away, which is already massive with a eight games to go. That's a massive.
00:40:05
Eshan
And it's not like Wolves have three wins in the last five games. they're not they're They're also severely in form. But if Wolves...
00:40:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll definitely cover Luke Wolves taking on Ipswich.
00:40:17
Eshan
Yeah.
00:40:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm sorry, we just have to move on.
00:40:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
So ah Manchester City, of course, comfortable win tunnel against Leicester. What you said there, the relegation battle. And Leicester looking more and more like ah being like um like almost there to join Southampton in the relegation to championship.
00:40:20
Eshan
Yeah, all right.
00:40:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
And well, last but not least, I know it's banal so maybe making like making such expression, but...

Newcastle's Goal of the Season Highlight

00:40:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Newcastle taking on Brentford, Newcastle winning two goals to one, and Louis, if this if the goal that you're about to describe for us and for listeners and viewers of there of GSPN, if that's not the goal of the season, then we just simply do not know anything about football now, do we?
00:40:48
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:41:01
Louie Easton
Yeah, I mean, that was just insane. I would just like to quickly mention, ah sorry, just quickly on Manchester City.
00:41:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:41:07
Louie Easton
What a moment for Jack Grealish. First goal in 16 months. um I just really like him. ah And I think he's been getting a lot of criticism when he hasn't been given much chances. And he's been sort of made into a system player by Pep Guardiola. But very pleased for him to pick up the goal.
00:41:23
Louie Easton
And also Leicester deserve absolutely nothing from this season. They have been dreadful. And I still don't understand the Rude Van Nistori appointment. Anyway, um Newcastle versus Brentford, yes. What a goal.
00:41:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh-huh.
00:41:35
Louie Easton
i mean, i mean how the audacity of it to try it from that ah angle.
00:41:36
Eshan
ridiculous.
00:41:41
Louie Easton
I mean, you can point fingers at Flecken, who I think has been such a terrific goalkeeper for Brentford, but I just don't... ah yeah For him to get that in the top corner so perfectly out of reach of Flecken to get any meaningful contact on it...
00:42:00
Louie Easton
It's insane. It's absolutely insane. And he is such a good player, Tadali. He's had his ah issues with his ban from the Premier League for a lot of time, but he's come back and he has slotted perfectly in and he's doing stuff like this, which is just, like i I cannot believe he would even try it, let alone pull it off.
00:42:22
Louie Easton
For me, that's goal of the season. I just haven't seen anything like it in Premier League. Ever, really. no I haven't seen a goal like that. And first time as well. First time.
00:42:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah it kind of recalled me like this got kind of like brought ah to mind um the goal that Andres Schierles scored in the semi-final of the World Cup against Brazil it was the goal for 7-0 so maybe that is why people not too many people remember it but it got the set like same vibes like for 2014 yeah ancient history now 11 years ago but yeah that that was that what oh I'm sorry
00:42:47
Eshan
Hmm, I remember it.
00:42:48
Louie Easton
I don't.
00:42:55
Eshan
Oh my god, don't say that, don't say that.
00:42:55
Louie Easton
God, no
00:42:58
Louie Easton
That's so sad. 11 years since 2014.
00:43:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. the Beautiful times with Germany being able to smash Brazil. And the Andres Schiller goal was basically maybe not super identical, but very, very close to what we saw at Newcastle. Isha, anything you'd like to add about that game?
00:43:18
Eshan
um The Brazil with the last minute consolation.
00:43:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, no, no, no. Newcastle-Brenford. Newcastle, which is, sorry.
00:43:22
Louie Easton
7-1, guys. 7-1. Come give Oscar some credit.
00:43:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
seven one Yeah.
00:43:28
Louie Easton
yeah little give oscar some credit
00:43:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:43:31
Eshan
um i've I have only seen the highlights, so I'm just as um lost as you are.
00:43:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:43:39
Eshan
But that Tenali goal, i am I think we could just talk about that for years. It is really... as there's not enough that can be said about that. I think ah i vaguely remember that Andre Scherler goal, but honestly, nothing really comes to mind.
00:43:53
Eshan
I remember some like um whips down the line, like Maicon or Roberto Carlos, where it's like been straight down the line, and those have been fantastic, but they're on the side of the pitch.
00:43:58
Louie Easton
Yeah, I remember them.
00:44:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:44:05
Eshan
You expect whip, and so the fact that Tonali just smashed it in, no whip, just straight arrowed at the top corner, I've never seen anything like that.
00:44:15
Louie Easton
And he he meant that as well.
00:44:17
Eshan
yeah yeah yeah
00:44:17
Louie Easton
Like, that wasn't an accident. He smashed that with vigour towards the... It's just... How do you do that?
00:44:25
Eshan
yeah i couldn't conceptualize that you know like i i couldn't get to the striking part you know
00:44:25
Louie Easton
I could take that shot a thousand times and never hit anything like that. So, just... Alright.
00:44:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
the
00:44:36
Louie Easton
No.
00:44:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
i You know what, guys? i will I will just use the cliche of every single pundit ever who has ever existed on the face of this earth. That is why we are not footballers.
00:44:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
We are podcasters, journalists who just cover the game and we are not getting paid obscene amount of money for ah kicking the ball about and around.
00:44:51
Eshan
you
00:44:56
Louie Easton
not Not as much as them, that's for sure.
00:44:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely. Absolutely. So with that being said, we've covered all the games which happened and we can just have a one quick mention of what is about to happen, which is going to be another London Derby game.
00:45:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Chelsea taking on Tottenham. What are your predictions for this?
00:45:12
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:45:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, because of the history of of the of the English football, um huge derby.
00:45:21
Louie Easton
Yeah, i'd I'd be interested to see how Chelsea line up if they stick with Rhys James in that midfield role, which i I'm still amazed that they've tried it ah for so long. um I'd be interested to see if Jadon Sancho starts as well.
00:45:36
Louie Easton
I'm saying it's probably going to be a Chelsea win. It's at Stamford Bridge. Spurs just still look awful. um And I can't imagine Ange being in charge for too much longer.
00:45:49
Louie Easton
Granted, he's had his own injury issues, but I just don't, I can't see Spurs getting much from this game. ah At most for Spurs a draw, but I'm probably going to say three one to Chelsea and this one.
00:46:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Pretty cool. pretty Pretty cool prediction, I gotta admit. Ishan, your prediction for what's about to happen at Stamford Bridge.
00:46:11
Eshan
um I hate that I was about to say 3-1 as well, so I can't say it. It's like the cardinal rule of predictions. It's like you can't...
00:46:17
Louie Easton
Yeah, you can say it.
00:46:19
Eshan
No, no.
00:46:19
Louie Easton
yeah It just compliments me, if anything.
00:46:23
Eshan
um Yeah, I ah ah can't see Spurs mustering something together. um That being said, i think Spurs do play the best against the big teams because it just provides the open game.
00:46:36
Eshan
i think this is going to be a fantastic game. The Tottenham-Chelsea games in the last few seasons have been fantastic. I think this will be more akin to... um maybe like the Chelsea City game last year where it was like 4-4.
00:46:50
Eshan
I could see something crazy happening at this game.
00:46:51
Louie Easton
Hmm. Maybe, yeah, that's a good point.
00:46:54
Eshan
um So I'll go four three Chelsea, you know? The the flip of the... <unk> I guess it's the same result, but... um
00:47:04
Louie Easton
You gonna put money on it?
00:47:05
Eshan
probably Probably not.
00:47:06
Louie Easton
yeah
00:47:06
Eshan
Probably not.
00:47:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
we'll see who's goingnna We'll see who's going to come on top as far as predictions go.
00:47:07
Louie Easton
yeah
00:47:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we will also ah find out, but we will find out about it tomorrow, um who came on top of the special episode, 100th episode of Daily English Premier League, which was the International Break Extravaganza.
00:47:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
The reason why we called it that way was because we recorded during the International Breakthrough. break. Both Louis and Ishan took part in this quiz. um Maybe without any spoilers, but how do you think? How will our viewers and listeners enjoy that 100th episode?
00:47:45
Louie Easton
Well, it's a great game. um i mean, I i thought it was ah the questions were fantastic. And, um well, you edited it, so we'll see how good your editing is as well. No pressure on you.
