00:00:36
Speaker
How wrong is the game? don't know. Here is your host, Mikey Thompson. Thank you.
00:00:51
Speaker
Hey, welcome, welcome.

Celebrating the 100th Episode with a Quiz

00:00:54
Speaker
100th episode here at the Daily English Premier League podcast brought to you by GSPN. And we need to give a shout out to our producer, man with Outer Face this week. It is Mikhail. Can we have a hello from you, sir?
00:01:11
Speaker
Hello, here's the Omni voice. I was supervising that the show will go on smoothly. But we've got Mikey as the host. Come on, everything will be fine. Come on. So you're brought today with a brand new concept of the daily EPL Premier League podcast here at GSPN.
00:01:28
Speaker
We are doing a one hundredth episode special. It's a quiz where we've got our biggest and best brains from the podcast, maybe, to take part in a competition against each other. Joining me today are Nick, Louis and Eshan. A warm welcome to all of you.
00:01:50
Speaker
Yes, mate. How are we all doing? You okay? I'll go to you, Nick. How's life treating you? Going good, going good. Excellent, Louis.
00:02:01
Speaker
Yeah, not too bad, mate. Quite nervous about this one, I'll say. the And Esam, finally, if we can hear you. Fantastic, fantastic. Is it going little better? Still horrific? Yes, sign language is surviving for us, so don't worry.
00:02:17
Speaker
You're a very good job. So today's episode is, as I've already said, a quiz, but a quiz with a different spin. It's a spin where you are all given nine points to start with, and it is your job to deduct points from opposing members of the team. They're like all good British quizzes, we are bringing that American style over to us to understand how we understand the concept of a quiz.
00:02:43
Speaker
And that is by going to each of our team members. I want to find out a little bit more about you all. So firstly I want to ask who you support, which we should already probably know. But then why you think you have the best Premier League knowledge to beat the other two contestants.

Contestants' Edge in the Quiz

00:03:00
Speaker
And finally, if you understand the concept of this quiz, you are already halfway there to winning. So i'm going to come first to Nick. Nick first, can you tell us who you support and why you think you've got the edge over the other two?
00:03:14
Speaker
So I'm an Arsenal fan and I think I can beat them both because I love ridiculously niche football. Football is like knowledge. Nice. So you're honing in on the niche style of football that you know.
00:03:30
Speaker
Excellent. And how far back does your knowledge go? Because we're going back all the way to 1992. there'll be bits There'll be bits from then, but mostly probably the last decade, 15 Yeah, the depressing thing for me is that you guys are all far younger than me.
00:03:46
Speaker
So I think actually might have a better chance. Louis, let's come to you. Who did sport and why you got the edge over anybody else? I'm Louis, I support Liverpool, and i think what gives me the edge is the fact that I have watched my team win the Premier League in the last ten years.
00:04:07
Speaker
Wow, and you've also watched them lose in the League Cup and the Champions League in the same week. You know, something to prevent Again, at least I've seen my team win the Champions League in the last 10 years, so there you go.
00:04:22
Speaker
ah good Ishan, tell it to us, who's your sport and why have you got the edge? um I am a United fan, as evidenced by this.
00:04:33
Speaker
I think I have the edge because i for the last 10 years, have woken up at 4.30 in the morning just to watch a depressing Man United game after United game. So theres there's a resoluteness that I think I have that nobody else in this call has.
00:04:48
Speaker
Absolutely. And probably one of the best shirts to wear in a quiz where you need to win. So without further ado, I'm going to tell you the rules of today's quiz. and So you guys know and those people listening at home also have an idea.
00:05:03
Speaker
So each team member gets nine points to start with. Their job is to sabotage any other player that is playing today. They can choose a category of which a question will be delivered to the person of their choice.
00:05:16
Speaker
Now, if a team person chooses somebody else to answer the question, the chances of them winning a point isn't possible, but they can stop themselves losing a point.

Quiz Rules and Strategies

00:05:29
Speaker
However, if they choose themselves, they can add a point to their current total, or if they get it incorrect, lose two points.
00:05:41
Speaker
Now the power of this game is decided by the person who can choose the category. The team players have never seen the questions before and with our fingers crossed on the technical side, this will be a dream 100th episode for you guys to listen to.
00:05:58
Speaker
Hopefully we'll have loads going out the social media to show and ask you guys questions. But without further ado, we need to know which one of you three are going first. So I've got my pen and paper at the ready for your first tiebreak question.
00:06:13
Speaker
And that tiebreak question is, can you give me the goals and assists total number that Sergio Aguero managed to accumulate?
00:06:28
Speaker
I want the closest to the answer we'll get to go first. It's a very tricky question. ah Okay, close closest wins. Closest wins.
00:06:39
Speaker
Sergio Aguario, the most... Well, all his assists and goals combined, what was his total? Who's going first? and I've written down in order as I can see you, so I'll go to Nick first.
00:06:53
Speaker
ah I'm going to 235.
00:06:57
Speaker
Two, three, five. Just for clarity as well, not that I'm um um'm questioning you at all and your ethics, Nick, but there's no tapping on keyboards to make sure. The keyboard is to my side.
00:07:11
Speaker
That's fine. um I'm not saying that that's a good guess, by the way, but I didn't clarify that before. ah Louis? See, I thought that was a lot higher. But I'll go 192. 192. Okay.
00:07:24
Speaker
Isha? know Sergio Aguero has 184 goals. ninety two one nine two okay and easyha i know he ahergura has one hundred and eighty four goals What?
00:07:40
Speaker
I knew it was 184. Yeah, I'm i'm like 99% sure that that's the number. So I'm gonna go in the... Oh, I was gonna say 230, but... Okay, I'll stick with 230. You've gone 230?
00:07:52
Speaker
Yeah. yeah Oh, my God. The fact that you pulled out 184 goals there is phenomenal.
00:08:03
Speaker
um Okay, so Ishan smashed it. You got 230. two thirty and So you were first place because the actual total was 231. two hundred and thirty one Oh my gosh. Oh, I'm so close. Oh my gosh. Nick, you can see why I thought. Maybe.
00:08:22
Speaker
Maybe Nick's trying to send us because he did it a close guess, but not too close. No, I knew his goals was around 180. Yeah, you smashed it. So that means that Ishan, you have got ah priority and you can choose the categories first. And the categories are, you've got Premier League teams, all-time top goalscorers.
00:08:45
Speaker
Second category is, can you name at least three of the six badges? ah Number three is record breakers.
00:08:56
Speaker
And number four is famous quotes. Remember, you can choose somebody else to take it. or you can take quote category yourself. um Well, I think I'd be remiss if I didn't back myself on the first one. So i'm going to go category four.
00:09:12
Speaker
Category four. You're going straight in at number four. Okay. So what's going to happen now is you're going to hear a very famous quote, and then I will be asking you a question in relation to that quote.
00:09:28
Speaker
is um Ishan? Ishan? Here is your first clip.
00:09:33
Speaker
that is a that question and yeah you you are answer it where your head must be long um i i fresh good morning special now can you car Alright, so you you've just listened to the first clip, um which was famous Premier League manager famously and responding to a reporter following a defeat against Chelsea. For one point being added to your current total of nine, can you tell me who that manager was?
00:10:10
Speaker
I think it was Ian Holloway. It's not your time yet! here! Not today!
00:10:20
Speaker
It's a fantastic effort, but as the buzzer has rightly told you, who was it? Can anyone tell him? Nigel Pearson. Yeah, smashed it. Well done. Unfortunately, Louis, get nothing for that.
00:10:32
Speaker
I know. I'm so annoyed about that. That's so easy. ah Too easy. Absolutely. Okay, good. So because you didn't get the category right... ah Can the producer please just good sound check for me here? Am I telling this the right thing?
00:10:47
Speaker
He got it wrong. So we are providing the category to be chosen by him for somebody else? Exactly. There we go. Okay, so you can choose the

Football Quotes and Goalscorers Challenge

00:10:58
Speaker
category. I know you've got to nominate one of the other two players.
00:11:02
Speaker
um
00:11:07
Speaker
I'm going to go with Nick and we'll do famous quotes again. i want to see some famous quotes again. Yeah. Okay, cool. So Nick is going to be very similar to what you've just heard.
00:11:19
Speaker
and First, I'd like to hear the quote, please. He is a specialist in failure. I'm not. So if i'm if supposedly he is right and I am afraid of failure, it's because I don't fail many times.
00:11:36
Speaker
Maybe he's right, maybe I'm not used to fail, but the reality is that he's a specialist because eight years without a ah piece of silverware, that's failure. If I do that in Chelsea, eight years, I leave London, I don't come back.
00:11:50
Speaker
Okay, 2014, there was, he is a specialist in failure by the special one himself. Nick, for the correct answer though, and to keep your points, can you tell me who Jose Mourinho was talking about?
00:12:09
Speaker
be quite embarrassing if I got this one more wrong, wouldn't it? Yeah, it would be. Oh, genius! Absolute genius! Absolutely, yeah. Smashed it, Nick. You keep your nine points. You're currently still in the, well, with your full maximum amount. Ishan, unfortunately, is on seven. And Lui, as you've not played anything yet, you are still on nine. Nick, that does mean that you get control of the game. Which category are you going for?
00:12:37
Speaker
I'll go with category one. Category one, which is all-time top goalscorers for a club. Right, Nick, that isn't the that's only the first part of the question that I actually need to ask you. The second part is, ah can you give me ah number between one and 51? I'll with one.
00:13:01
Speaker
You're going to go straight in at number one. Okay. So I've... I've randomised the teams that have played in the Premier League and I've now got in front of me and ah team. I'm going to provide that. Who's your person you're going to choose? I'll let Louis get involved. so Okay, Louis, you're in. So, to prevent yourself from losing a point, Louis, you need to be able to tell me, and I think this is pretty easy, I think you should be able to get this quite comfortably, the all-time top goalscorer for Leeds United...
00:13:39
Speaker
Ooh. You say it's easy, but Leeds were in the 90s before I was born. So... um Is it Premier League top scorer their entire history, by the way?
00:13:52
Speaker
No, a good question. It is Premier League. So from 1992, these records have been taken from. And just to clarify, Louis, on what I meant is I've got the top three. If you could name one of the top three, you would...
00:14:06
Speaker
oh Okay. Let me look it up. Let me look it up because I don't have it. Wait. Hold on. Okay. Okay. I'm ready. I'm ready. All right.
00:14:16
Speaker
ah Is... ah then Was it before or after he joined that there it was the Premier League? ah'll go I'll go Eric Cantona. It's not your time yet.
00:14:31
Speaker
Not here. Not today. Do you know, ah you you're absolutely right. So the fact that I said I'm older than you lot, 100% weighs on the fact that I knew the answer and you didn't. and No, it is in fact, Mark Viduka.
00:14:45
Speaker
Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah, see, i I wouldn't have got that off the top my head. I know the name, but... Yeah, yeah, yeah. 59 goals. Harry Kuhl was next with 45 and then and Wallace was fought with 42.
00:14:58
Speaker
Anyway, that being said, that means Louis loses a point. and And can the the voice of God tell me, does Nick still maintain control? Yes. Thank you.
00:15:09
Speaker
Okay. ah Nick, back over to you. think going to stick with Premier League all time. Top scores. Okay, nice. So we're going for the second question on there. So I now need a number between two and 51. Let's ah go for 14. 14. Wow. And the person of which is going to answer this question?
00:15:33
Speaker
Ishan. Okay, cool. ah Ishan, I need one of the top three goalscorers since 1992...
00:15:46
Speaker
for Everton Football Club. For Everton? Let me look it up. Sorry. I'll just like lock Romelu Lukaku because... You're going straight in with Romelu Lukaku.
00:15:58
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, actually... Wait, hold up. Give me two seconds to think about this. yeah Thank you. And give me a couple seconds too, because I have to look it up. like That's what I told you, damn it.
00:16:10
Speaker
ah Sorry. Oh, no, I shouldn't go with Lukaku straight away. There's better answers than Lukaku. I don't think who I'd go for here. Evan is a tricky one. have a I have a name in mind.
00:16:22
Speaker
I have a better name than Lukaku in mind. Am I ready to go, Mikkel? yeah Yes, yes, yes, sorry. um I'm going to go with Tim Cahill. Oh, mate.
00:16:32
Speaker
It's not your time yet. Not here, not today. can't, can't, can't, God, I can't help but feel so bad for you. Lukaku, 68 points, top goal scorer.
00:16:47
Speaker
but Wait, though, it gets worse. Duncan Ferguson was second with 60. Calvert-Lewin, 57. fifty seven Tim Cahill, one goal, 56. I reckon Calvert-Lewin was that recent. I was thinking of Ferguson and Calvert-Lewin.
00:17:03
Speaker
I didn't think Lukaku would never know. I didn't even think of Ferguson, you know. Yeah. That's such a shame. I was driving so fast. Oh. Wow, wow. that's ah That's not done you any favours, I'm going to be really honest.
00:17:18
Speaker
and Nick, the power is still in your hands. We're going to get a question from a category of your choice. I'll go name the badge for myself. Name the badge for yourself. Okay, so Nick, this is quite a straightforward one for you.
00:17:34
Speaker
Basically, I'm going to hold up a badge, or six badges, should I say, that have been little snippets of them. they've all been cropped. All that you have to do is identify at least three of them.
00:17:47
Speaker
If you get three corrects right, um you can give yourself a bonus point. If you fail to do so, and I'm going to go with first answer incorrect, you lose, um you automatically get two points taken away from you.
00:18:00
Speaker
Any questions on that? Is that clear? That's clear. Yeah, happy with that? Okay, pal. ah So I'm going try and hold this up to the screen for anyone watching at home so you can see them. And Nick, if you want to talk it through with us, the ones that you're confident with, feel free. I think hang I'm fairly confident on all six.
00:18:19
Speaker
All right, okay. Top left I believe is Blackburn. And then top middle is obviously Arsenal. Top right is Reading. Bottom left Chelsea. Bottom middle Norwich.
00:18:32
Speaker
Bottom right Fulham.
00:18:41
Speaker
Right, what an absolute stellar performance this lad's putting in. Nick, you've just added one point to your current total. Very, very impressive. And not only did he tell me three, but he went through all six.
00:18:53
Speaker
I thought that was very impressive. and So, Nick, this actually means that you're still in control of the game. We're going to have one more question before we go to an ad break after this question. Let's go record breakers.
00:19:08
Speaker
Okay, going back to record breakers. Oh, no, we've not been to Record Breakers. the first time we're going to OK, so and can you tell me who the question is for? I'll go to Louis.
00:19:21
Speaker
OK, Louis. Question number one from the Record Breakers category. Can you name the third highest ranked goalkeeper in Premier League history?
00:19:35
Speaker
He had made... 153 clean sheets with Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea.
00:19:49
Speaker
Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea. Is it Mark Schwarzer? is it mark schwarter
00:20:00
Speaker
Absolute genius. Louis, you've absolutely nailed that. Yeah, Mark Schwartz was, of course, the correct answer with Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea being the teams of which he got those clean sheets.
00:20:11
Speaker
and So that is the first section of our

Bayonique is our chosen sponsor, but we are also going to update you with the scores, because who doesn't want to know a live update of the score table? Well, I know I do. So in first place currently on 10 points is our top of the pile.
00:21:38
Speaker
Mr. Nicholas, well done to you, sir. In second place, redeeming himself with his Mark Swartcher response it is a Louis Eaton with nine points. And unfortunately, the Southampton person of our quiz so far is Ishan.
00:21:56
Speaker
Unfortunately...
00:22:00
Speaker
and so it can all change there's still loads of time for loads of questions for now let's get into the next one and Louis you have gained ownership of where we're up to where we're going to go with it what category would you like to choose I would like to go for famous quotes, please, Mikey.
00:22:19
Speaker
Famous quotes. So this is our last a question from famous quotes category. Once this question has been done, there are no more choices of going to famous quotes category. And who are you going to send this one to?
00:22:32
Speaker
ah I'd like to have a go at this myself, please. Yeah, of course. and So let's hear that quote. ah Mikey, before we go, can we just clarify that Louis has got nine or eight points? Because according to my notes, he should have eight points.
00:22:46
Speaker
So he lost a point um for incorrectly answering the Leeds one. Yeah. And then he get he gained a point. Or did not gain a point for... No, he didn't. I don't gain a point. He didn't because he was appointed.
00:23:01
Speaker
Okay, that is exactly why you're here. you That's all right. That's all right. That's fine. You're doing a great job, Mikey, really. The adjudication is perfect. Thank you. so you were You were doing a fantastic job trying to rig that game for me there.
00:23:15
Speaker
Louis, I'll have to send you that tenner back. absolutely and Okay, let's listen to the quote.
00:23:25
Speaker
When you do that with footballers like he said about Leeds, and when you do things like that about a man like Stuart Pearce, I've kept really quiet. But I'll tell you something, he went down in my instrumentation when he said that.
00:23:37
Speaker
But I'll tell you, you can tell him now if you're watching it. We're still fighting for this title. And he's gotta go to the middleman and get something. Honestly, will love it if we beat him.
00:23:47
Speaker
Love it.
00:23:51
Speaker
I need the sound of so good. Beautiful. my that's brought me to That's brought me to tears almost. that The powerful like film soundtrack in the background just brought something more to that. Did you do that? Or was that just something you found?
00:24:10
Speaker
No, I made it myself. I made it myself. ah with real music yeah That's brilliant. Very, very good. Right, okay. You were already lipping at the end of it. Do you know who said it, though? ah Yeah, Kevin Keegan.
00:24:34
Speaker
That's you giving yourself a point there, if if I'm correct. ah You chose yourself there, didn't you, Louis? Yeah, i did indeed, yes. Yeah, absolutely. So, Perra stays with you. Categories 1, 2 and 3 are wide open of your choice.
00:24:48
Speaker
Okay. um I want to give myself one more go here just so I can pull level with Nick. Let's go for... Do I want to challenge myself?
00:24:58
Speaker
Yeah, I'll give myself a challenge. Record breakers, please. Record breakers. So we're going in with the second question in the record breakers category. And your question is this.
00:25:12
Speaker
e the 2018-19 season... God. nineteen season An Arsenal player won the Golden Boot with 22 goals.
00:25:23
Speaker
But who was it?
00:25:26
Speaker
um I could be wrong here, but I think that's the season where there were three players on the Golden Boot, I think. So that that's the only Arsenal Golden Boot winner I can think of in recent years. So I'm going to go Aubameyang.
00:25:50
Speaker
Yes, Mastik, well done. Very, very, very good. Aubameyang was the correct answer. and I asked a lot of people the questions that this weekend and some of which Arsenal fans struggled to to find the answer. So I think you you should be very proud of yourself. Well done, Louis.
00:26:06
Speaker
was Was that when he tied with Salah and Mane? It could have been, but when I looked it up, it was just him. It was, Nick. it was a ti that's the That's the only reason I know that. I wouldn't have known it any other way. So um yeah for that that's that's actually appalling that Arsenal fans don't know that one.
00:26:24
Speaker
There was no one else scoring for us then. Yeah, that's true. That is true. Okay. okay Yeah, over to you, pal. So you have still got control over this. You've redeemed yourself. You're now on 10 points.
00:26:37
Speaker
Where do you fancy going? Okay. ah Number one, please. And are you sending that to somebody else or are you having another go? Yeah. I'd like to let Ishan have a go at that one, please.
00:26:49
Speaker
Ishan's having a go at that one. Now this is the last of this category, okay? So we've got no more questions on this category. Ishan, you've got to choose a number now.
00:27:00
Speaker
um I'm going to just narrow this down. Can you choose a number between 40 51? forty and fifty one 40 and 51. Can I get 47? 47 has been selected.
00:27:16
Speaker
Correct. Okay. So, Ishan, your question is the same as the past two questions. Can you name one of the top three all-time goalscorers since 1992 for Aston Villa?
00:27:32
Speaker
Aston Villa. Um... Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. i I was just praying you weren't going to say, like, oldum or something. Yeah, yeah, talk through. Yes, yes, yes. Talk through, talk through. Yeah, um I think my the the the one that, like, instantly springs to mind is Agbongalohor because he spent so long there.
00:27:53
Speaker
Yeah, that's right. And I'm just trying to think of other contenders that I would put in that, like, top scorers category. Yeah. Villa have been in the league a long time, so maybe there's someone... Obviously, this is I'm thinking of Stylian Petrov. Obviously, not he didn't score a lot of goals, but just vibes.
00:28:12
Speaker
um I'm just going to stick with the bunglewhore. I think it's a solid shout. Oh, genius! Absolute genius! Okay, I'm going to give, just purely because you've now taken control and you are in a dire situation, we're going to give you a bit of a super, um you know, daily English GSPN booster here.
00:28:35
Speaker
Can you, if you can get this within five goals, I'll give you another, I'll give you a bonus point, I'll give you a point, because you've not gained a point from that, you've just saved yourself from losing one. Okay.
00:28:46
Speaker
How many goals did he get?
00:28:51
Speaker
For Villa... Well, he probably spent around, like, what, seven years? 322 matches, if that's any help to you. two matchshes Wow, that's crazy. That's, whoa, that's like... Ishan, before you answer this question, Mikey, can we give Ishan some sort of a leeway, or do you want him to give the correct number?
00:29:13
Speaker
No, he said five goals. he said five goals. Five either way, within five... Okay, cheers. Okay, I'm trying to be conservative. If you want any more information, I can tell you that he played 25,996 minutes. well Does that not narrow it down for you? Did
00:29:34
Speaker
he only play for Villa? don't remember. I think he went down in the leagues. I don i forgot where, but I don't think he retired at Villa. This is for Villa. i feel I feel like he moved on to another club, mate.
00:29:46
Speaker
I don't remember. He definitely went down at least, but can't remember who for. We all know what he's doing now. Yeah, we do. I'm going to go 80. It's not your time yet. Not here.
00:29:56
Speaker
Not today. Oh, man, I was thinking 73, but that's it. Oh, my God. You are just so unlucky. 74.
00:30:12
Speaker
Oh, no. I was like, no, it's too low. You should have gone with it. You should have gone with 73. So harsh. Anyway, that was all for the bonus. So you didn't lose anything there. You've remained on six points um and you definitely gain anything.
00:30:26
Speaker
However, you have no control over the game. You can't choose category one or category four. We're going to this question and then we will go to our final advert of this episode.
00:30:42
Speaker
I'll go with record breakers. and Record breakers. I'll have pick myself because there's no chance otherwise. Okay, so you're going to record breakers. um
00:30:56
Speaker
So you get one point if you get three
00:31:03
Speaker
of the seven people In the Premier League... No, sorry, let me rephrase this. So, only six players in the Premier League history have ever been awarded seven or more red cards.
00:31:16
Speaker
If you can name at least three of them in... I have put a timely one, but i'm just going to let you answer it. so if you can name three of them that are in the top six and awarded red cards of all time, ah you can have it. So, three of which have been given eight red cards, three of which have been given seven.
00:31:38
Speaker
Oh, i' this is going to rough one. um i have to say Lee Cattermole. um Because obvious. um Man, they don't tell you how you just your mind blanks on quizzes. I can't even think of another player. Yeah, no, it's crazy.
00:31:55
Speaker
um Who got red cards in the league? I know for the most, I think.
00:32:00
Speaker
I'm trying to think of like... can't believe there's a player you haven't said yet.
00:32:09
Speaker
i like I know these stats for like own goals, but red cards? It's not going help you here, mate.
00:32:19
Speaker
ah Generally, the last 15 seconds, Richard Dunn is just being flash-banged into my head. So you've locked in two answers there. You've got Lee Catmull and Richard Dunn.
00:32:30
Speaker
I need you to lock in one more.
00:32:35
Speaker
I'm already cooked, I can already tell. going
00:32:47
Speaker
to have to push you on time here.
00:32:51
Speaker
um Oh my god, I'm trying to think of like a Sunderland player outside of the Commonwealth. Going back into the ninety s Yeah, i mean, this is really annoying for me. I'll just do Cantona, because she probably got her fucked on.
00:33:06
Speaker
It's not your time yet! Not here! Not today! Cantona did not feature in the list. That being said, um Lee Catamore did. if He got seven.
00:33:17
Speaker
And your other one, Richard Dunn, which was an absolute shout. Both of those, I would say, are not the most obvious ones. Louis, who were the ones you were crying over?
00:33:29
Speaker
Roy Keane. Roy Keane. Did he get seven in the Premier League? He must have been there, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Roy Keane's well in there. He's got seven. I was going to say, yeah. That's such an obvious one, isn't it?
00:33:41
Speaker
Yeah. And then Roy Keane had most battles with? um Patrick Vieira. Yeah, Patrick Vieira on eight. um Now, the other one featured in Everton's all-time top goalscorers?
00:33:53
Speaker
so i guess big du And the last one is probably the most unknown. Played for Leeds, also played for Man United. Was it Keith Gillespie? I feel like I saw it recently.
00:34:06
Speaker
ah Not on my list, but I'm not saying that my list is always right.
00:34:12
Speaker
um Alan Smith. Yeah, Alan Smith. He's got two of the most generic names of all times, Alan and Smith. Yeah, Alan Smith. So unfortunately, Ishan, actually means you lose two points, which is a sad state of affairs.
00:34:29
Speaker
But what isn't a sad state of affairs is the choice of platform, and that is Zencastr.

Tiebreaker and Determining the Winner

00:35:30
Speaker
at GSPN. Not only today, but 100 times no less.
00:35:33
Speaker
um So, lads, we are going into the final section of the quiz. We are currently in a tie-break situation with two questions remaining to go.
00:35:45
Speaker
Nick and Louie are both on 10 points. Ishan, you are living up to the reputation of being Southampton through and through. and And you are currently holding it up the table with four points.
00:35:57
Speaker
We have got all our questions have been used now other than the identify the team badges. Ishan lost that question. So the voice of God, whose category is it next?
00:36:12
Speaker
ah He lost... Ishan took did this question for himself, right? or was he So he can choose the category but chooses the person? Yes, exactly. Thank you. um Ishan, I wonder which category you're going to go for?
00:36:26
Speaker
h the Choice of name the badge or name the badge, right? it You got it. Okay, we'll go with Louis for name the badge. because Louis, name the badge. Now, no pressure, Louis.
00:36:38
Speaker
But an incorrect answer here puts you in second place. ah It's the same as before. he just may have got a little bit harder. Who knows? I don't know.
00:36:49
Speaker
and There are six badges on this picture in front of me. I need three correct answers, and I want your first three answers to be the definitely correct ones. Okay. Okay.
00:37:04
Speaker
and Oh no. Okay. um Right. I have no idea who that man was. Okay. Bottom middle. I'm going to say Spurs.
00:37:15
Speaker
Top right. Charlton. Bottom right. Hull.
00:37:27
Speaker
Can you talk us through the remaining badges? ah To be honest, no, but I'll give it a go. Top i our top middle, who's that?
00:37:38
Speaker
I have absolutely no idea. think Bottom left, I feel like I've seen it before. It looks like Orient, but they haven't been in the Prem as far as I'm aware. Top left is obvious, I feel like.
00:37:54
Speaker
Yeah, I agree with the top left one. You should get that.
00:38:00
Speaker
Really? ah say You'll see it when, if someone's there. but as I've not got the bigger image. Don't don't do that to me, Nick. No, but I mean, like, he'll see it in his head.
00:38:13
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Okay, so, shall I tell you? Yeah, just tell me, please. Nick, you want to weigh You seem to know. Top left is Watford, isn't it? Yeah, correct. And then bottom left? Oh, yeah.
00:38:25
Speaker
Bottom left isn't coming to it. Like, so many teams just have crowns. Yes, they do. I think this is quite an ambiguous one, if I'm honest. They're known for eating pie sandwiches.
00:38:39
Speaker
Pie sandwiches? Yes, I think. That has to be northern. There's no way that's not northern. Wigan? Yeah, is it is. It's as northern as they come. It's Wigan. and And the last one, I'm going to put yeah you out your misery. the The man in the middle is Barnsley.
00:38:56
Speaker
I didn't even know they were the Premier League at any point. When were they in the Prem? 19s, I'm guessing. a you Who knows, pal, who knows. But what we do know is that you got that correct, which means that you saved your stature at the top of the table and have taken priority.
00:39:13
Speaker
Now, it's going to be interesting to see where you go with this. ah There's only one question left in the quiz. um Where are you going to send it to?
00:39:23
Speaker
Ah, this is a lot of pressure. Do I want it or do I want Nick to have it? Do you want your fate in your own hands? Okay, I'll take it. I'll take it. I have to back myself.
00:39:35
Speaker
So you're taking it. This is for victory. This is for victory and I'm feeling a bit Divock Origi at the moment. Let's go. Love that. All right, okay. So no pressure, but if you get this correct, you take the lead.
00:39:52
Speaker
for what could be the final question of the quiz. Are you ready? Yeah. yeah Same question as before. Give me three of the six badges.
00:40:03
Speaker
Right, well, bottom left is Man United. Top left is Sheffield United. Top middle, I'm thinking Sunderland. Top right, is that? Bottom right, maybe Oldham.
00:40:16
Speaker
Bottom middle, Wolves.
00:40:20
Speaker
Is that right? Can you just repeat them? I'm worried that our producer have just fallen asleep. Yeah. Bottom, middle, Wolves. Top left, Sheffield United. Bottom left, Man United.
00:40:40
Speaker
Unbelievable. Can i could I try the other three? Yeah, go for it. It's top, middle, so Sunderland. Yeah. ah Bottom right, Oldham, I think.
00:40:52
Speaker
No. No? Oh, God. Is it Sheffield Wednesday? No. What? Okay, top right looks like Birmingham. Top right's Birmingham. Did you say bottom i'm right before? Yeah, no, top right I'm saying Birmingham. Bottom right I have no idea now because I thought that was Oldham.
00:41:09
Speaker
um Yeah, I could probably give you a name that might help. um Chris Brun. Oh, West Brom. Yeah, West Brom. I would not have got West Brom from that.
00:41:21
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. what Don't you know? I don't know. i feel like it's a little bit easier to see it. Oh, I can so have to see it now. i I thought it was just feathers, but I didn't see the head of the bird at the top. okay theres I don't know why. um That's my strongest category by a long stretch. and I think it must be FIFA.
00:41:43
Speaker
FIFA just drones into you what badges look like. OK. That helped. The damage has been done. Louis backed himself to get 11 points. um He's now top of the table.
00:41:56
Speaker
And I'm going to throw something at our producer, Mikhail. Mikhail, can we have a chance for all these teams to redeem themselves with one last question? Go ahead.
00:42:08
Speaker
Right, OK. So this is to take the victory of the 100th episode of all time. And in order to make it a possibility of winning, is another nearest to the correct answer takes all. Okay. and Unfortunately, Ishan, you're just playing for fun at this stage and because that that would be ridiculous to allow you to win.
00:42:32
Speaker
ah But seeing as though you are you are actually at Southampton, the question revolves around Southampton. To the nearest number, can you tell me what the capacity is at St Mary's Stadium?
00:42:52
Speaker
All of you can play. There are three points up for grabs if you get the correct answer, which is obviously the difference between Louis and Nick currently. ah Because of that, i'm going to make Ishan go first
00:43:08
Speaker
I'm going to go... i should know
00:43:16
Speaker
this. I should know this.
00:43:22
Speaker
And as you are currently in second place, Nick, I'm going to ask you to go second. I'm going to 28,000.
00:43:33
Speaker
Oh, no, no, That's what I was going go for. Okay, Louis, no pressure, but if you don't get it closer than Nick, Nick has won the 100th episode here at the Daily English Premier League podcast.
00:43:54
Speaker
It's not fair because I was going to go 28,000. I just... I thought in my head it's either like 31,000 or like 26,000, 27,000. And was just going to go safe there. I'll go... Do I go 27,000 or 29,000 here? I'm going go for those two. Let's go 20... Let's go 27,000.
00:44:14
Speaker
do i go twenty seven or twenty nine here i mean i'm only gonna go for those two let go twenty let's go twenty seven
00:44:24
Speaker
Locked in. would have gone lower. ah Well, I'm not saying it with chess, but that's all I can give you at this stage. What did you what do you say, Nick? If within that 50-50, I would have gone lower as well.
00:44:38
Speaker
You'd gone lower? Yeah. You'd agree. Okay, I can tell you that the winner of the 100th episode with the closest answer...
00:44:54
Speaker
making all the difference. And the winner and the proud owner of all the football knowledge of the Premier League since 1992
00:45:12
Speaker
It all came down to the tie-break question and the tie-break question actually was smashed by Esha. The correct number is 32,000
00:45:23
Speaker
384. So, so close. So the difference of going higher or lower, Louis, was to your detriment in that regard.
00:45:35
Speaker
um i want to say congratulations to everyone. Any closing words, any final

Closing Remarks and Reflections

00:45:40
Speaker
speeches? Let's start with you, Louis, because feel you almost had them to honest. ah Yeah, I think the game's gone. I think the referee needs to have some sort of investigation had.
00:45:52
Speaker
And I think all future luck should go to Nick. for i hope yeah I hope you stub your toe a few times. i hope both sides of your pillow are warm.
00:46:08
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. And going to you, Nick, as the proud owner and and and coveted trophy, you know, should we say, of the first ever quiz here at GSPN Daily English Prem. How do you feel?
00:46:23
Speaker
Great. The most undisputed, most knowledgeable on the podcast out of 12 plus. I felt like I could win this and won it completely fairly.
00:46:35
Speaker
So, yeah, not really any reason for Louis to feel hard done by at all, in my opinion. Yeah, fair enough. And Ishan, thanks for turning up. yeah yeah if you want We just say, Louis louis said Ishan would win before we saw a recording.
00:46:52
Speaker
Yeah, I'm very surprised and underwhelmed by our performance today. I feel like it was bit of a case of Ned like Brian. I think I was off by one. like I think my quote was far harder because one, couldn't hear it, and two, wasn't top ten iconic quotes the Premier League.
00:47:12
Speaker
I feel good. Yeah, well, it was it was it was fun. I've thoroughly had a wonderful time doing the quiz with you all. But can we all give a massive well done and thank you to the man holding the glue together, putting the sound together and absolutely excelling.
00:47:26
Speaker
It is the one and only Mikhail. Well done, sir. Thank you. Thank you.
