College Football Season Kickoff
00:00:44
Speaker
Now, let's join the conversation in progress.
00:00:52
Speaker
JP, we've made it through the months of summer. The season is here. The dog days of summer are over because we're quickly approaching game week.
00:01:04
Speaker
We're actually at week zero. So there are zero weeks left of no college football, dear friends. That's a good point. um hello but Hello, friends. Yeah.
00:01:16
Speaker
In the podcast before the podcast, uh, in the conversation that was in progress, I was saying that like, there was something I had meant to write down. I forgot. Maybe that's what it was like. Oh yeah. Week zero.
00:01:26
Speaker
Like who's playing and such. So I don't get at this point. i don't care if, if two dogs want to get together and throw a football around, we'll probably watch it. Yeah. Yeah. True. I will.
00:01:38
Speaker
I will definitely I will be watching, uh, to some level this weekend. I don't even know who's, who's, who's playing this weekend. that's what of That's what I'm saying. I'm like, wait a minute. um i remember um Kansas is playing somebody.
00:01:52
Speaker
i know that. Oh, wow. my My neighbor will be excited. He's a K-State fan. Oh, nice. Nice. like ah Yeah, K-State is playing Iowa State. So we have our first ranked opponent, our first ranked game ah this weekend.
00:02:08
Speaker
They're playing in Dublin, Ireland, K-State and Iowa State. So British Bulldog, come on down. nice I doubt he's gonna go to that game with a kid
00:02:20
Speaker
oh that's funny though I'm gonna reach out to my friend in Ireland though um yeah so they've got that and then uh Dan Mullen is now yeah the latest coach at UNLV. They play Idaho State.
00:02:35
Speaker
So the Clown King makes his debut again. i had to throw up in my mouth a little bit because ah at work I got a video from one of my clients that's out there in Las Vegas. And and Dan Mullen's face popped up and I was like, gosh.
Dan Mullen's New Role at UNLV
00:02:51
Speaker
So, ah yeah, I didn't even realize that. To his credit, he looks great. looks like he's lost some weight. Good for him. good for um Yeah, Fresno State of Kansas. yeah it's it's ah It's a struggle.
00:03:05
Speaker
i My offseason getting healthier didn't go as well this year as last year. Yeah, Fresno State of Kansas. I knew Kansas was playing. Sam Houston at Western Kentucky and Stanford at Hawaii.
00:03:17
Speaker
so all All on Saturday, by the way. so Excellent. Excellent. Yeah. Week zero kicking it off with a, well, Hey, new, new season. um some new looks potentially.
Homefield Apparel Discussion
00:03:29
Speaker
We're going to try some stuff out for those of you who watching on YouTube.
00:03:32
Speaker
Um, you know, if you need to go follow us, we're at my got a podcast, like everywhere, by the way, Twitter or X or whatever. Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok.
00:03:43
Speaker
um Yeah. So, and then as always reminder, we probably don't say this enough, um but yeah, we do, we are affiliated with home field apparel.
00:03:54
Speaker
You can always go to homefield.mygoddenpodcast.com, check out all the Georgia gear and you can use code hunker down. If you never shot there before, ah you can get 15% off your first order. Um, so always remind folks to, to do that.
00:04:07
Speaker
I just, uh, I just put down an order for, for home field myself. Uh, I got, nice i chose I chose the go use silver bridges shirt and what else did I get? Oh, I got the, uh, 19.
00:04:21
Speaker
The 1912 or 21, can't remember what it is. Old school, the old school bulldog. um The old school standing dog is the OG standing dog. um And then I got some shirts for the kids, which they don't have kid stuff.
00:04:34
Speaker
But if you ever wanted to order something for your kids, you can just order, you know, size down. My eight-year-old could wear an extra small ah pretty, pretty easily.
00:04:47
Speaker
So for what it's worth. Yeah. was say they go on all the way down to extras. Yeah. If you're a large, if you're a big boy like me, you have to, I would recommend sizing up. I normally wear XL or XXL, but I have to wear triple X with home.
00:05:00
Speaker
Okay. thanks Thanks a lot. Thanks a lot. Home field. Thanks home field.
00:05:06
Speaker
But they're great shirts. They are. I've definitely been eyeing the, ah the black, the blackout bomber jacket that just came out is pretty sweet. Um, You have a blonde bomber jacket. I know. That's why I can't. Said Kim.
00:05:19
Speaker
That's why I can't. That's why I haven't personally bought it. But if you don't have a black bomber jacket, it looks pretty sweet. That's why Jim, I feel like Jim was suggesting I buy it so that you can borrow it sometime. ah Hey, man, you should you should check this out.
00:05:31
Speaker
I was I was trying to figure out if I could justify like, you know, like maybe like Lily could have my old one and that'd be cool. Then I can have the new one. But there you go. There you go. Haven't pulled that off quite yet.
00:05:44
Speaker
i i did I did grab some um some winter jackets, so I need the weather to start um and need the weather to start cooling off quickly so I can wear some new swag that I got from a keeping warm point of view.
00:05:57
Speaker
You never know when you get that game that you're there for a ah later in the day game and the swirling winds come in and it gets cold. So you always got to be prepared. Yeah. The swirling winds or the sub almost sub zero temperature Georgia Tech game, which we won't have that problem this year. But true.
00:06:14
Speaker
True. But we we still have the the blanket that we bought from that Kentucky game where we were sitting with you. ah It's actually on our couch. Yeah, it's actually on our couch. It's it's out right now.
00:06:26
Speaker
It's actually in Carter's. i wasn I wasn't allowed to keep it out. I was told I had to get put away. It is currently in Carter's closet. ah yeah But it is it's definitely there. It's waiting. It's waiting for its time.
00:06:42
Speaker
Yeah, i I used it ah this evening, actually. So while we were watching TV. Well, JP, um I mean, the the season, you know, rapidly approaching.
00:06:54
Speaker
um are you Are you ready? you You ready for kickoff? I mean, I am ready for kickoff. I feel like it's kind of rushed up on us with some, you know, with all of the kids activities and things like that. It's like, oh, my gosh, you know, back to school for those of us that are in the metro Atlanta area. If you're a normal person in society, you probably are like, wait, what you guys your kids are back in school.
00:07:16
Speaker
um But yes, our kids have been in school since August the 4th. So um we just turned around and basically school's in. So um yeah, i'm ready for I'm ready for fall Saturdays.
College Football Changes and Recruitment
00:07:30
Speaker
I'm ready for the Morris Hall tailgate and Tate gate.
00:07:34
Speaker
um I'm ready to see the squad again and to do all of the things that we love about college football. Oh yeah. And there's also some football. Yeah, yeah. i yeah I'm with you on that. we We were actually just talking earlier today, like starting to try to kind of plan out um like what we're going to do, who's going et cetera.
00:07:53
Speaker
um because So we like we still have Ella still has not gone back to college yet. um College is in general, goes back later, but then she's in the quarter system. So she goes back even later. So like Austin Peay weekend, we won't.
00:08:06
Speaker
Be at the game. We're moving her in that like Thursday or right before that. um But think we're all going to at least come into town for Marshall. isn' So although we're going to be coming in hot like Saturday morning because i mean, it it wouldn't be a wood gathering if you weren't coming in on two wheels.
00:08:25
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. ah Our local high school's like first home game is the night before Friday night. So Lily wants to partake at some Friday night lights. and So we'll just head down ah Saturday morning.
00:08:38
Speaker
She's so is she wanting to. She got friends or what? Yeah, she just it's just, you know, her high school's first home game of the season. So she doesn't want that one. Yeah. I didn't know if she had her eye on someone.
00:08:51
Speaker
Oh, I mean, not that I'm aware of. I'm i'm here for the boyfriend talk again. yeah gosh.
00:09:02
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Too good. No, nothing nothing. Nothing at the moment. Yeah, man, dude. She's like, you know, driving herself to school. um So things are wild. That's crazy.
00:09:13
Speaker
Definitely makes it easier for Kim in the morning though. So when they get mobile, it's great. Yeah. Yeah. It's been nice. um Well, how do you want to, and do how do you, do you want to run through this? I think we were talking, maybe just run through a little, ah little Georgia offense, defense, special teams, kind of what we're, what we're thinking.
00:09:29
Speaker
Yeah, i think so. i think there's no reason to get too complicated with it. um i mean, i slaved over the research for this, so um it'll be quite extensive. And I don't know where to really go with all the
Georgia Bulldogs' Upcoming Season
00:09:45
Speaker
groundbreaking material that I have.
00:09:46
Speaker
i um I do. I will say good. I have I also have a ah ah short, fun little game for you for something that that hit our our socials last week ah that going to bring to the podcast so we we can maybe table that for a little bit okay after the actual football talk.
00:10:04
Speaker
Okay. So I want to, maybe, maybe a good place to start is like, where's your head at right now, Jim? Cause I have to say like, I've, I've listened to some podcasts. We, we were just on with the girls talk ball, um you know,
00:10:19
Speaker
The like where's your head at like you can't really get excited about recruiting right now that was what Kelsey had mentioned and i I don't disagree because it's like.
00:10:30
Speaker
ah Okay cool we'll see if they actually show up they enroll and if they stick around like maybe i'll get excited about it if they pan out they'll probably be gone next year kind of thing. um And then the waiting since last Saturday guys talked about like, you know, i think, um was it? Scott, Scott mentioned he he used, he used the the metaphor of he's just driving along in the middle lane and college football has been flying by like a Ferrari or something like that in the fast lane.
00:11:02
Speaker
Yeah, I, I listened to that too. There's a point where I was almost like, yeah, Scott has got okay with his college football. Um, at one point it seems like he is. Um, so you're talking about just like college football fandom, not necessarily Georgia.
00:11:17
Speaker
i mean Yeah, I mean, we're talking about SEC preview. i kind of For me, college football is the SEC, but, you know. Yeah, I mean, i so i guess, yeah. I mean, so there definitely is like so much change.
00:11:32
Speaker
um I definitely, like from the Georgia perspective, I'm still like, like I wore my 2024 SEC champions hat for a reason because it's like, I just like everything you hear is about Texas.
00:11:46
Speaker
um And I know like the whole but we had Chris Phillips on he had like the so horny for disrespect joke. We've heard Marler make that. But like this stuff is out there. um And now we've got the narrative has already begun that like Georgia should not have let Carson Beck go into the portal.
00:12:03
Speaker
And so it's just like, you know, like all this stuff. It's kind of like, here we go again, all over again with the narratives. um So that's that's there. um But then the other side of it is just like with all the changes in college football.
00:12:17
Speaker
I mean, like, i don't know where everything is heading. Every day there's a new playoff expansion proposal. You know, like all these things keep keep getting floated out there and everything. but 24 teams.
00:12:28
Speaker
Right. So at this point, I'm just like, you know what? Like nothing's going to keep me from... wanting to go to Sanford stadium and cheer on my dogs on Saturday or watch them when they're on the road.
00:12:39
Speaker
um And so that's just kind of where my, my focus is. um I'm excited for this team. I'm excited to see us. um You were talking about like Kirby smart saying, and like, show me.
00:12:52
Speaker
And I think there's some team, there's some things from the, from last year that I want to see how this year's team works. reacts ah to like things that have been said about them, et cetera.
00:13:03
Speaker
So i don't know. That's kind of where i'm at. Yeah. I mean, so I guess that the way that I would kind of characterize it is that, I don't know. So the way that college football set up sets up right now, um yeah like I said, ah feel like that it's done a disservice to the recruiting industry, which may be part of the reason you're seeing the consolidation in the recruiting world, like with On3, right?
00:13:27
Speaker
taking over rivals maybe that's part and parcel with what we're with what we're seeing is that people are just not as interested in recruiting anymore because i definitely am not super excited about it anymore because it's just like like you know you give up out of nowhere this guy that you've been investing your time and effort in goes decides to commit to texas tech of all teams you're like what like what's going on yeah um And so it's hard to take it seriously, like the recruiting as as crazy as it was, you know, six, seven years ago, like, you know, when we would, did you see such and such committed? Like, yeah yeah, awesome. Like none, you don't see any of that anymore. Like, I don't hear anybody talking about, did you see they committed?
00:14:07
Speaker
Like, oh man, you know, I don't see nobody, nobody's talking about recruiting anymore. So maybe the NIL off, one of the offshoots is is that we can kind of relax on the recruiting situation.
00:14:18
Speaker
for a little bit. um So the the other thing I think that it's done is like, so, okay, so if we don't, if if you don't care about recruiting anymore, even less than you did before, Well, now what do you have? Well, I have my team. have my Georgia Bulldogs and I've got what I what i do on on Saturdays in the fall. like I feel like it's going to create these little even more tribalistic approach to sport, to college football. is like I don't really know what's going on with the rest of the SEC for the most part. So when we're sitting down to talk about an SEC preview, I'm like...
00:14:51
Speaker
oh geez like what the heck's going on like you know i mean one of our two of our breakout players are transfer players like at least on my list anyway so like yeah um so it's like ah got god help you if you happen to transfer from you know somewhere else to you know mississippi state like okay great oh wow they turned over their entire roster i had no idea like that sucks yeah So that's interesting and it just makes, it just makes me want to like not care about literally anybody, but my team.
00:15:23
Speaker
It's interesting because I feel like the sport is kind of like becoming like it was always so regional, right? like We had the regional conferences and now we've got the ACC with teams from California and you're you're coast to coast in the, in the big 10.
00:15:37
Speaker
And I feel like it's, so it's trying to go this national. And I feel like you and I are kind of reacting the same way where we're like mentally like contracting back to more regional for us. Like I'm just going to focus. I want to know.
00:15:50
Speaker
Yeah. FTMF. Yeah. Yeah. No, I honestly, i'm I'm kind of feeling the same way. That's interesting. It's like a control what you can control kind of mentality situation.
00:16:01
Speaker
i can control how I feel about, you know, what we're doing on Saturday. I can control what's going on with my team and and learn as best I can about about the players that we got right now.
00:16:12
Speaker
And then next season, we'll do it all over again. Yeah. Because there inevitably will be rostered, and even more roster turnover when people transfer out that are unhappy. Like, i mean, I hate to say it, but like, you know, one of these quarterbacks that we're talking about is probably going to transfer next year.
00:16:28
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's just the new reality. I mean, yeah. yep it's not it's not quite um It's not quite basketball yet. Shout out Fletcher. um With the roster turnover year over year.
00:16:41
Speaker
um But that's probably just a volume. you know Yeah, it's just a volume thing. I mean, it's a lot easier to to have roster turnover when you only have five players that you're worried about. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and one player on the basketball if field on the basketball team can completely change the game. Whereas, yes, it can on football, but it requires a little bit more cohesiveness.
00:17:02
Speaker
Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. And I saw um
Georgia's Strengths and Concerns
00:17:06
Speaker
just like on the national regional thing, like I saw I apologize because I can't remember who to credit on this, but saw it on on Twitter today. There was conversation around like people being more excited for like us a game between two smaller schools than, say, Ohio State, Texas, because like.
00:17:24
Speaker
Is the winner like losing that Ohio State Texas game doesn't hurt you. um So that that's just shifted completely. Like you used to have a big year. You'd be spending all the year.
00:17:35
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you know week one in the past, like, sure, like you can work your way back, but still now it's just kind of like. Well, that this is maybe probably the first time they'll play each other this season. and and you know And we're talking like an SEC, you know, Texas being an SEC team now um and know has to other the big 10 and that's kind of the thought process. So it's, it's, it's a different world.
00:17:54
Speaker
It's a different world, but yeah, I'm, I'm kind of like you. Yeah. I mean, look at, look at 21 when we had, you know, we went to Clemson, you know, like, yeah Or when we went to Charlotte, like imagine, ah imagine losing that game and how we would have felt and versus now, you know, if we had a similar game, but yeah.
00:18:12
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, you can directly say that that year, right? Like if we had lost that Clemson game and you lose the SEC championship to Bama, like we did, we don't get to the playoff and get to correct that. We don't get a chance to correct that mistake.
00:18:25
Speaker
And like now you would, I think, I think maybe. Yeah. Yeah. I guess we'll see. We'll see. TBD. Cool. Well, I guess like, what are you, what are you thinking for?
00:18:37
Speaker
like what is, what's on your mind around the dogs specifically? Like, what's your, what did you, I know you said you were starting to kind of look into some stuff. Like, what are you, what have you learned? What are you, what are you looking for?
00:18:49
Speaker
um So I think that for me, it's pretty straightforward. we We were texting about it on the on one of the text threads that we're on. i i think that we are incredibly strong at a number of different positions. I actually think we've upgraded our defense pretty substantially from last year.
00:19:06
Speaker
um I actually think our secondary is going to be absolutely lights out. I mean, we've got Will Muschamp and Kirby Smart back there. So even though Will's not a โ we've seen him in the in the preseason videos. that He's still around.
00:19:19
Speaker
So I feel as confident as ever, um at least as confident as I've been since probably 22 in the defense.
00:19:30
Speaker
um And that's saying something. um yeah I feel like we've got some breakaway player some breakout players. You've got Madozi as one of those players on the defensive side that I feel like is going to be โ sounds like that he's making he's making waves. um i've yeah i've I've actually heard we on this podcast have I've mentioned Aguero a couple of seasons in a row now.
00:19:54
Speaker
um And I feel like ah if if a player like, a you know, Janelle Aguero comes and has a breakout season, that would be another feather in Kirby smarts.
00:20:05
Speaker
Stick around with Georgia, get developed. Eventually you'll get your shot, have a, you know, couple of years and not necessarily purgatory, but you you know, you're, you're honing your craft, you get hurt, whatever, like,
00:20:18
Speaker
But you come here and you just stick it out and we'll have a breakout season. And then you get drafted high in the draft and you make you make your life-changing generational money in the NFL.
00:20:29
Speaker
Yeah. um And, you know, potentially set yourself up for a nice career. so Anyway, we see guys like Aguero. um so i mean I'm very confident about the on the defensive side.
00:20:42
Speaker
I feel pretty confident about the special teams. um I feel a lot more confident about wide receivers. ah There are a couple of different position groups that have big question marks. The running backs, obviously, you know we've got Gunnar Stockton. I feel pretty confident more so than I have been than, say, like a Joe Coxier.
00:21:02
Speaker
or a Hudson Mason year, um where I think that his body of work from high school and what we saw last year and that he did enough, I felt like, to beat Notre Dame.
00:21:16
Speaker
um I think that the Notre Dame game last year fell on the defense to but the on the defense's feet, but... um This season, I feel as though with all the departures, we lost hate. We lost a number of guys on the offensive line.
00:21:31
Speaker
I think I just feel like that this team is going to live and die on how well the offensive line is able to block. I heard someone, know, I think saw the text saying that they were basically betting that Gunnar Stockton throws for 3,000 yards this season. Yeah. Yeah.
00:21:48
Speaker
yeah um if Gunnar Stockton throws for 3000 yards, where's the, well, we'll, we'll be dancing in new Orleans. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.
00:21:58
Speaker
Yeah. I am. I'm with you. Um, I think like what I'm curious about is, I mean, like we've talked about, like it kind of it all starts with the line of scrimmage, um, looking at the offensive offensive line.
00:22:12
Speaker
Um, but I want to get us back to running the ball. Um, And I'm not saying I'd like to force it, but being able to run the ball well, um because I was definitely somewhere we struggled, struggled last year. But I mean, oddly enough, we have a returning or leading rusher returning. I mean, Nate Frazier was actually the lead leading rusher of the team last year with ETN being out so much.
00:22:35
Speaker
um So um'm I'm looking for big things from from him and in In year two, um you know, I like I like the way he honors the tradition of you know, the history of being running back in Georgia, you know, scored his first touchdown touchdown, did like a did the the girly bow and like the Sony, you know, jazz hands like right off the bat. So i'm I'm excited to see what what he looks like and and in year two for sure.
00:23:01
Speaker
Yeah. um I don't disagree with that assessment. um You know, you got Nate Frazier, who's kind of the the heir apparent back there, but then you got guys that are coming up behind him that you are โ continue to hear more about we heard about him in the lead up to g-day and i feel like that the steam has done nothing but getting has gotten better in terms of what i've heard from bo walker yeah um which dear lord sweet baby jesus i need that name um i need that name on the heisman on the heisman trophy at some point yeah yeah yeah i mean he's gotta be right just i cannot jim maybe we should go ahead and start making some bow some bow nose merch and and and and really piss off some people we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna usurp we're gonna usurp the the the term bow
00:23:59
Speaker
ah I like it. I like it. um um Also, i'm I'm curious to see um where everything goes with ah with the transfer running back.
00:24:09
Speaker
With McCray coming in from Illinois. Because I think he was sick when he got here and all this stuff. yeah So I'm not entirely sure what's going on there. I'm not super confident any anytime you come in as a transfer in this offense and you miss reps, you miss time.
00:24:27
Speaker
i mean, you're talking about drinking from the fire hose, right? Like he's probably going to be coming in and not prepared for how much he's supposed to block and, know, If you can't block in Kirby Smart's offense, you're not goingnna you're not going to be on the field but very much.
00:24:43
Speaker
i i feel i feel like it hasn't been like negative about him, but I haven't heard as much noise as I have from Bo Walker. I think that's fair. I'd say the same. I'd say the same. um But yeah, he did come in sick. So obviously he's, you know, maybe a little hot behind physically.
00:25:00
Speaker
um But yeah. Yeah. And then I think the, I don't know, like, don't if is overhaul the right word of the receiver room from last year to this year.
00:25:11
Speaker
I don't, I mean, I guess in a sense that it seems as though they've been able to plug and play a couple of big time names um that are starting to build a lot of noise.
00:25:24
Speaker
If those two play, if Noah, and we're talking about Noah Thomas and Zachariah Branch, right? Like everything that I've, everything that I'm hearing is that like Zachariah Branch could be the answer for the A.D. Mitchell Enigma problem.
00:25:36
Speaker
um making contested catches, you know, those those kinds of things get breakaway speed, all those kinds of things to runs really strong routes. I mean, there was a clip, a clip that we saw from practice where he ran a route that I feel like I haven't seen a Georgia receiver run and probably, you know, since maybe Pickens, I don't know.
00:25:56
Speaker
Yeah, and he's i mean he's he's shifty. i mean, because he's going to be back there returning kicks as well. But you got that, and then the return of Colby Young, I think. Oh, yeah. I mean, treat amy you know there you go. Yeah, you're you're talking about another another player that's like, oh, yeah, and we got him.
00:26:14
Speaker
And by the way, we haven't even mentioned Dylan Bell. So like, Yeah. Yeah. I think it's, I think it's fair to say that it's a revamped, maybe not rebuilt, but revamped, you know, to use the patio term, we've got a couple of pergolas out there, but the grill still works, you know, like we got some, we we put, we put some coats of paint on the, on the Adirondack chairs out there, you know, we got, we got a new fire pit bowl, you know, replace the rusted one, you know, anyway. Yeah.
00:26:47
Speaker
Yeah. But I mean, if you think about it, like we when if we go out there, we go out there, like first play of the game week one, let's say there's three receivers on the field. mean, it is a chance that none of them were here last year or or were like actively playing. I mean, I could see a world where those three are Noah Thomas, Colby Young and Branch.
00:27:07
Speaker
but Jim, I don't know. I don't know. i don't know how they're going to do it because we're going to be running the 13 personnel. well that's true that's true
00:27:17
Speaker
sorry carter um yeah so i mean we're only going to need a couple you know that's true that's true that's fair um yeah but that's another position group that we haven't mentioned it's also i feel like uh just reloaded you know yeah yeah You know, time will tell, but, you know, there's a lot of positivity coming out of that position group too, which may be some of the, you know, we got like a, we got one of those space, one of those space eaters. It's kind of like Darnell Washington type size, but like, you know, standing next to lost and lucky. we talked about, we talked about last time, you know, those are not small people and he makes them look, he makes them look tiny. Yeah.
00:27:59
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. um For sure. Was that Elias Williams, six, seven. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. A large human. Yeah. We've got some big boys.
00:28:09
Speaker
um No, I'm i'm also, i would say, um definitely to see, excited to see Lost and Lucky another year in the system. And then, I mean, Delp, I think too, like Delp last year, I feel like there was a lot put on him and maybe it was almost too much or something. I'm not sure.
00:28:27
Speaker
um But I would say look for a bit of a bounce back year for him. and Okay. I'll take it. um as far as like, you know, the quarterback goes, I think that, um you know, Gunnar Stockton, I think is going to be one of those, everybody's going to be watching for him.
00:28:44
Speaker
um Like I said, did you know if if if he and that's that's the the bell water for me is going to be is he flirting with or over 3 000 because you look at some of the stats of i took a look at this because when someone said that i was like huh was like well i feel like that would be like a guarantee that we've had a successful season if he's thrown over for over 3 000 yards in his first season because you go back and you look at the history of that quarterback position know i mentioned a couple of em hudson mason joe cox i mean
00:29:16
Speaker
even Stetson Bennett you know in his first season um he didn't touch 3,000 um in 2021 he didn't touch 3,000 um he was close um you know Hudson Mason didn't touch that Jake f Fromm never touched 3,000 um joe cox never touched 3000 so like you talk about some of these players that i've heard people compare like oh he's like kind of like joe cox like yeah i don't know that that's a fair comparison of gunner i think that he would probably be a little insulted by that um and probably should be insulted by that um
00:29:55
Speaker
But if we've got a quarterback out there first year as the official starter for the entirety of the season, you know, doesn't get hurt, Jim, knock on your head. um You know, a 3000 yard season would be substantial win, particularly if we're talking about completion percentages, don't know, 65 and over, you know,
00:30:17
Speaker
over um you know If he's touching 3,000 yards and he's completing 70% of his passes, like we've seen in the past that some bubble quarterbacks have been able to do.
00:30:28
Speaker
Like, I think I mentioned we'd be dancing in New Orleans, which maybe we will be too. Or, you know, we probably will be too, but it'll be dancing in Miami at that point. Yeah, I feel like um feel like we've all like forgotten that Gunner was a five-star recruit.
00:30:44
Speaker
You know, it's like, he's five stars. He's five stars. It's like Gunner was a five-star. um I mean, he was much more highly pouted coming out of high school, even than, say, Beck was. um So, i don't know.
00:30:57
Speaker
Also, like, from what we what we saw of him last year, right, like at the end of the season, i mean, you're thrust into a situation in SEC championship game. Yeah.
00:31:07
Speaker
you know did well. He had the, the one the one pick, the one bad play. Um, but other, otherwise was great. Leads us to it, leads us to a comeback. And then, like you said earlier, lost, lost in the sugar bowl, but not going to put that on Gunner.
00:31:21
Speaker
Um, so I'm, I'm excited to see what he looks like coming into a season where we've known that he's going to be the guy. Um, Granted, I keep seeing all these things where like Kirby hasn't named him the sarger starter. I don't know if you've seen that narrative going around or whatever. don't know if narrative is the right term there, but I think people keep people keep asking Kirby like if like to name Gunnar the starter and he like dodges the question.
00:31:44
Speaker
I think he doesn't answer. like He talks about like how Gunnar is doing and stuff like that, but he's he's not going to like be like, yes, Gunnar is our starter. I think he probably just like doesn't feel the need to say that. It's kind of obvious. We brought him to SEC media days.
00:31:57
Speaker
Yeah. So, yeah, I'm I always like to see what what somebody does when it's like now it's going to be their team. So, right. ah To your point about the, you know, we forget that Gunner was a five star recruit. Like, yes, that is 100 percent accurate. I think I've heard some some folks talking about that on podcasts and whatnot. But yeah.
00:32:21
Speaker
You know, Carson Beck was were recruited as more of a project than yeah than Gunner was. I mean, you go and look at what Gunner did in high school, and he did this in the state of Georgia in a pretty high classification Not the the highest out in Raven County, but he can't really help where he you know where his parents live.
00:32:43
Speaker
But, I mean, he's outgunned what Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson. like We're talking about NFL-level quarterbacks that he's you know set he said multiple Georgia high school records um when he was in high school.
00:32:59
Speaker
You ask AI, and they they they have they have described it as Stockton had a legendary high school career. Yeah, I mean, I would agree with that.
00:33:09
Speaker
That's accurate. Yeah. Stockton was ranked among the the top quarterbacks in the country for his his recruiting year. Yeah, i mean, that was a big deal that we we got him. I mean, it's like, I mean, I don't know. I don't know if it's like, him mean, I guess now maybe you could say Beck was a five-star transfer or something, I guess. Like, I guess maybe we look at things a little bit differently than we used to. But, you know, when I hear five-star, I still think i still think high school.
00:33:36
Speaker
And, mean, that's what that's what Gunner, that's what, I don't Like i said, that was a big deal when we got him. Yeah. I just, and know why I usually don't let the narratives bother me.
00:33:46
Speaker
They've been bothering me the last couple of weeks. So I need just chill out. I'm all about, I'm all about calling out ah ah things that are not true these days.
00:33:58
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. If you know, you know. Yeah. Yeah. um You want to the defense a bit? and Unless you had something else, but like I know you were where you hit we hit on it a little bit, but you had some big words that some lofty, ah lofty praise there.
00:34:11
Speaker
How highly you're thinking of this, this defense. Oh yeah. From the defense. Yeah. um I think that there's just a ah recipe for some legendary stats that could get thrown up.
00:34:23
Speaker
I know that Dwight is probably drooling at the thought process of um doubling our sack output from last year, which was probably a subpar year for Kirby Smart.
00:34:34
Speaker
um Shout out to Bulldogs Battling Breast Cancer for their their sack challenge. More to come on that here on these here interwebs.
00:34:46
Speaker
Um, but, uh, so yeah, I think that, uh, I think the secondary is, is going to be lights out. Like I, there's just not a, I just don't see any way around that. We're going to have multiple problems, multiple positions where multiple problems for opposing offenses.
00:35:04
Speaker
And we're going to give defensive coordinators headaches, um, in the back end. um So I think that, I think that that position group is going to help the coverage and help the defensive line get a little bit more up to speed to your point.
00:35:19
Speaker
Trenches is where, where things are made outside of a handful of teams. I just don't know. Like, is there, is there anybody that's given you a whole lot of fear um on the defensive side or on the offensive side?
00:35:32
Speaker
I just don't know. And you couple that, like you take all that information about, you know, Who you got coming back? You know, I feel like our secondary is as seasoned as it's probably been in some time.
00:35:45
Speaker
um Not only that, is it but it's loaded with talent that we'll be playing on Sundays. I feel like there's probably, i want to say there's at least seven or eight guys, possibly nine that are on the squad right now that could probably be be playing in the NFL at some point in the not too distant future.
00:36:04
Speaker
um they're They're that good. Right. um Some of those in in that vein are probably going to need to step up this season, um particularly on the linebacking core and the defensive line. But I mentioned Madozi.
00:36:20
Speaker
He seems to be guaranteed to be a producer, an instant impact player type person. Yeah. Which army transfer, by the way, if you're not familiar. Yeah, dude.
00:36:31
Speaker
You're coming in from Army. I feel like that, that yeah. There's a reason that Kirby Smart brings someone in like that from where he brought him in. There's a reason Kirby Smart brings in a player, right? Like, and he's a defensive player and he's from Army. Okay.
00:36:46
Speaker
He probably knows what he's doing, right? Yeah. um So I think that I think there's a lot going on there. So you couple all of that said, the talent that we're talking about, the coaches that we know that are on that side of the ball.
00:37:00
Speaker
I think that this is probably the weakest SEC quarterback situation that we've had in quite some time. So you've got. multiple teams breaking in quarterback.
00:37:12
Speaker
I mean, you know, Texas for all of the bloviation there. i mean, you want to talk about a over leveraged team on one factor.
00:37:24
Speaker
It kind of feels like the big short, like, I would be shorting Texas if I were if if i were a a gambler, um despite all of the investments that they've made. But again, like I said, it's kind of like the big short. like You just make all these investments in this and this guy, and you look at the data, and it's like, well, there's no data there. like How can you...
00:37:47
Speaker
How can you crown the champions when you haven't even seen what he's going to produce? Um, so I just, I don't know. I take the under on any, on any kind of guesstimates with, with what he's going to do.
00:38:01
Speaker
um So, you know, you got Texas breaking in quarterback, Alabama's breaking in quarterback. um Simmons at Ole Miss, by and large, has a lot of talent, but it needs to showcase that, I guess.
00:38:14
Speaker
Nussmeier at LSU is probably the most proven talent across the entire SEC. Yeah. Outside of that, like there's no I mean, you got Tennessee breaking in a quarterback.
00:38:26
Speaker
Lagway, we don't know what he's going to look like. Yeah. I'd say Sellers. Sellers is my other guy. I thought he was good this year. We'll see what he does. We'll see what he does from freshman to sophomore year. Yeah.
00:38:36
Speaker
Yeah, but by and large, I mean, who's who's Auburn's quarterback? Do you know? Right, right. The guy from the guy from Oklahoma, I think. Yeah, I mean, you mentioned Oklahoma. You got Panateer whatever his name is, Menteer whatever his name is, came in from out west.
00:38:56
Speaker
um You got him and Arch making Venmo. Oh, my gosh. Venmo purchases. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. i just think that there's a lot of question marks across the entirety of the SEC at the quarterback position and, you know, including Georgia and, you know, to be played devil's advocate, you know, even Georgia has unproven stuff.
00:39:19
Speaker
um I think that we saw enough of enough of his body of work in two big games that gives me enough to say that I think that he can get the job done, um which is more than I can say from one arch manic.
00:39:36
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm with you. And it's, it's, it's a weird season to, with this, you know, in the, in year two of the expanded SEC, we are basically, we're like running it running back from last year's schedule to this year, but you flip-flop home and homes.
00:39:52
Speaker
um and Amazing home schedule. Yeah, so you get you get a couple of things out of that, right? So one, is you our schedule last year was just insane, yeah going to Bama, to Ole Miss, to Texas.
00:40:06
Speaker
We had all three of those at home. um Plus, you've always got the cocktail party as neutral. And then you've got Georgia Tech decided to host a home game at Mercedes-Benz. So yeah you take the schedule and you flip it, but we get all those big you know powerhouses at home, and we only play three games.
00:40:23
Speaker
games that are in an opponent's stadium, ah which is kind of wild for a season. So um I think just kind of like macro level on the season, while the schedule is basically the same as it was last year, it's exactly the same as it was you know in in in conference.
00:40:38
Speaker
But that the that flip from those road games to the home games is is huge this year. Yeah, exactly. i mean, you got the Kirby Smart narrative of... It's not narrative. It's just the truth.
00:40:53
Speaker
but Unbeaten at home, going to be riding a record into several games this season, in my opinion. so Several big games. Yeah.
00:41:05
Speaker
Yeah, I think that that is going to bode well um for everyone involved because we just don't get pushed around at home under the Kirby Smart regime.
00:41:16
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. Regardless of who's that quarterback. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, I agree that. Um, let's see, we got the listener questions, but we get the, we get the, the fun thing that I posted.
00:41:29
Speaker
Do you want to, do you want to do that? Yes. Okay. So this was, this kind of came out of some form of Twitter exchange. Oh, you tweeted. um and I think we had, ah our friend Garrett doing some inside sources research for us.
00:41:43
Speaker
So you tweeted about, um, and John, I'm going to bring back up what I had up earlier. Um, you You tweeted about um Georgia's never won a national championship in the playoff era unless the quarterback was sponsored by Onward Reserve, I believe was your tweet.
00:41:58
Speaker
That was me. You know, it's kind of along the same lines as, you know, is the quarterback from at the University of Georgia from the state of Georgia. So, you know, I did some crack research team, you know, other podcasts, their podcasts, you know, do preparation and like are looking at depth charts and and and stats and things like that.
00:42:16
Speaker
I've been going through the onward reserve catalogs. So, John, i have. I knew it. i knew it I knew it. So if you're, this is a great for visuals. if If you're on YouTube, I'll do, we'll do our best we can to to describe this to those of you are who were just listening.
00:42:36
Speaker
ah So I've got, a this is the most Jim Wood thing i I've ever seen in my life. I've got a i've got ah five different of the small honor reserve catalogs. I found a stack of these things in my office. Why I had these, I don't know. Of course. Of course you did, Jim. The the florida the Georgia, Florida one is is pretty sweet. That's like a collector's item.
00:42:56
Speaker
So I've got fall 23. I've got Georgia, Florida. I think that was from 23. And then we've got summer, fall, and back to school of 25. I don't know exactly how we want to do this, John, but basically I'm just going you can try to guess or whatever, or you can just pick one and we can take a look at who was featured.
00:43:15
Speaker
Actually. air for So basically, so you were saying, so this all started because you saw like a Puglisi on a reserve ad, right? Yes. And I had, I had not seen one of Gunnar Stockton since 23.
00:43:29
Speaker
Okay, so we' so we can we can go through these. and so or you can even like yeah who Who do you think is going to be in these? Well, I mean, is it Georgia, Florida?
00:43:42
Speaker
Is that Stetson Bennett? I feel i feel like Stetson's going to be still in those? ah Are you ready? Are you ready to see that one? We'll start there. Georgia, Florida actually featured a huge two page spread with one Gunnar Stockton advertising the peak.
00:43:59
Speaker
I'm not saying that he's the only player I just I did. So I kind of like picked picked some from these. and okay So 23 Georgia, Florida head Gunnar. Where you want to go next? Okay. Let's go. Give me, give me summer. Show me summer 25, summer 25. All right.
00:44:13
Speaker
right Let's see. Summer 25. This was the Puglisi. So this has, you've got Ryan Puglisi, uh, teeing off playable golf. that's So that's what we had and With the hat backwards too, by the way, with the backwards hat.
00:44:26
Speaker
So i don't know. And i don't know if this has any relation to the, what, what's the, what's the YouTube series? The, uh, the golfing thing. um Oh yeah. I need to go and and check that out. I can't recall.
00:44:37
Speaker
Which, by the way, Georgia football like or Georgia athletics, i don't know, like full-on YouTube channel now, by the way. Definitely go check that out. Okay, so 25 summer just had Big Leasy. Where do you want to take us next?
00:44:48
Speaker
Give me fall 25. need to see 25s right now. right now Fall 25 had neither Puglisi nor ah Gunner. So I just threw this. This was a Delp picture that they had ah in this one.
00:45:02
Speaker
But it didn't have Gunner or no quarterbacks in this one. No quarterbacks. Not in fall 20. Are those bathing suits, Jim? Those are, those are, uh, I have, I have, ah i have a pair of Columbia bathing suits that looks just like that one.
00:45:16
Speaker
I do too. For the standing bulldog. I've got that one also. Correct. I do like the, uh, the silver block G helmet. That's nice. This is nice. right. So you want to stick with, with 25. You want to see the, yeah, i want to see is, is Gunner Stockton still on the payroll at onward reserve, Jim?
00:45:31
Speaker
In the back to school 25, we have both Puglisi and Gunner. They're both in it. We also have a freshman quarterback, Ryan Montgomery. i didn't, he didn't make the cut. Sorry, Montgomery, um, for the videos, but yeah, also fun fact.
00:45:47
Speaker
So Gunner is holding up his, uh, player t-shirt, um, with like the, so this is like his NIL, NIL t-shirt, I guess the picture on his t-shirt is him driving his truck.
00:45:59
Speaker
I mean, i feel like that that's pretty ah pretty convincing that he's holding up his own, that he's on the payroll. He's got the truck. He's got the truck picture. um is is Ryan Pellisi, is he wearing one of those upside-down letter hats? It is. It's going to be upside down dogs. yeah I still it so don't know. It's got to be it's got to be a a knock on the kid. He just doesn't know any better. he' from the state He's not from the state of Georgia, Jim. I'm going to fall back on that.
00:46:26
Speaker
The upside down lettering, like is that just a generational thing that we just like we just don't get it? because we're ah like Are we old? because i Yes. I don't get it. Yes. We are old, but I still don't get it.
00:46:37
Speaker
right that leaves all I feel like it's a very chicky thing to do. like I feel like the women... The ladies, the ladies love the letter hats like that and they love them upside down. Okay. Yeah. I haven't fear Not that there's anything wrong with that, but i'm just saying.
00:46:49
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Um, right. So leaves the fall 23 honored reserve catalog. Uh, that one on the back had one Jackson must champ. So that was the one where I told you, guys like I was like, guarantee I've found something that you're not going to be prepared for. It was this. Yeah.
00:47:05
Speaker
Jackson Muschamp. Look at that kid. so He was the first one that I... That was the oldest one that I had lying around. so yeah I have a whole stack. There's other ones, but those were the ones that primarily featured football players. yeah yeah I don't throw anything away. What have what have I done? what i've I've created a monster. see and this was like this was like the perfect storm of like...
00:47:31
Speaker
i'm like this is why i keep things
00:47:36
Speaker
I'm sure that Onward Reserve is getting a kick out of this. Not a sponsor yet. Not a sponsor yet. i mean, come on, guys. Come on. Like, i'm just saying, kind kind of makes sense.
00:47:47
Speaker
This is hard-hitting. This hard-hitting content. We're going to have to clip this, and I'm going to tag them on the socials and be like, hey, guys, pay up.
00:47:57
Speaker
um I mean, ah I feel like that's at least worth some, ah like a polo or maybe a gunner. gunner driver. I'll take gunner t-shirt, bro. That one's pretty sweet. It's pretty sweet. All right. All right. That's it. That's it for that.
00:48:14
Speaker
we can move on to listener questions. Um, before we talk about the method list, before we do the listener questions, let's talk about our actual sponsor. Uh, so shout out again to, to working with media.
00:48:26

00:48:54
Speaker
All right, let's hit the listener questions. First up, we've got the building bonus. TM, TM, TM from one bread building. Shout out, Brett.
00:49:06
Speaker
He opens with, we are finally here. Part one, which home game will be the loudest? I think I've got a pretty, like, I feel like it's Alabama. Yeah, it'll be it'll be Alabama for sure.
00:49:18
Speaker
For sure. Yeah. First, first time we've played Alabama at home under Kirby smart under the lights. Um, you Here's here's a question.
00:49:29
Speaker
Is Kalen DeBoer prepared for that, to be able to coach through that? i don't think so. yeah' Not in the way that Kirby Smart was at Tennessee.
00:49:43
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I agree. I agree. um So this one is interesting. Which Georgia games will be featured on college game day, either as host or visiting team? I mean, we're going to have two ran enough the right off the rip, Texas and so i was wondering Alabama.
00:50:01
Speaker
Can they come to Athens twice in a season? Will they do that? They can do whatever they want. Yeah. I don't know. Would they? that's Because that's the thing. I mean, I like i agree. i mean, I feel like they've done that in the past. Like, haven't they been like, haven't they done that? I mean, is is it unprecedented?
00:50:18
Speaker
I don't know. i don't know, John. I didn't spend time researching that. I spent time researching. You spent time doing animations for the YouTubes. Animations the YouTubes. It's all good stuff. Subscribe to the YouTube channel.
00:50:32
Speaker
Subscribe the YouTube channel so Jim feels better about himself.
00:50:38
Speaker
uh i feel like i need to research i feel like i need to chat gpt uh the college game day situation you can't always trust what it says just oh i know 100 because i did some chat gpt prep for for this and they mentioned andrew paul and roderick robinson which oh nice you know we're batting 500 there right yeah yeah yeah fair fair um Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
00:51:06
Speaker
i'm not sure. Like of our road games, I feel like it's it's tough. I mean, you could potentially get the cocktail party. um And then you could potentially get, i think Tennessee really is probably the only one on one on the road. mean, that that's early, but I don't i don't know what they're going to be like there.
00:51:28
Speaker
So don't know. I would say two to three was my guess. Yeah. Is this, was this a coach trails over unders? e Good question.
00:51:38
Speaker
Good question. I don't remember if that was on there or not. I don't think that was there. Okay. So it is quite rare for them to go. According to chat GPT, it is quite rare for them to visit the same school in a single season. Okay. Since, since 2009, only once has game day visited twice. And that was Clemson in 2013.
00:52:00
Speaker
Okay. Okay. I mean, that sounds right. Before then, but now, before 2009, there was more precedence for multiple visits. 2007, they went to Oregon and LSU multiple times. 2006, Ohio State, USC. Dude, I swear, Herbstreet has got to be involved in all this.
00:52:21
Speaker
06, 03, and 02, Ohio State was visited multiple times, um along with Tennessee, Michigan, and USC, which is not too surprising. 99, Virginia Tech in Florida. 97, Michigan in Florida. So Florida was on there a couple of times during their you know ninety s run, I guess. ah tell you I'll tell you what, though. ah Listening to that, i you just rattled off multiple national champions.
00:52:48
Speaker
So you get them coming to your house twice in a season, ah you're having a heck of a year. There you go. There you go. ah Of note, they did visit Texas A&M multiple times, but one of those games was the Lone Star Showdown.
00:53:03
Speaker
That was last year. Okay, cool. No problem. All right. Uh, let's do next one. We got Bobby Wilson. Uh, we talked a lot about gunner, but does, does gunner have the ability to lead this team to an ad?
00:53:18
Speaker
I would say yes Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, I agree. Um, okay. So how many, how many games will our special teams win for us? I believe we have the best kicking and punting, um, which we didn't talk about the special teams earlier.
00:53:31
Speaker
Um, I touched on it. i touched on it i think I feel very confident about special teams. i mean We have the hardest kicking punter in NCAA football. I did see um Kirby did say, because you know, I mean, he's coming off an injury.
00:53:48
Speaker
um It sounds like he's not quite 100% yet. Not, but I didn't see he did not get the hopeful hopeful kiss of death. So he just said that he was just like noncommittal on on if he'll be back for the first game or not.
00:54:00
Speaker
So hopefully Thorson is ah is ready to go soon. I would say this, though. I hope that we don't have to win any games by our special teams. ah like when When I hear like like special teams wins for us, I'm hearing, and maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I'm hearing like game-winning field goal type things. So the less we have to do that, the better, for for one thing. But I think the special teams are definitely capable of winning some games for us for 100%.
00:54:26
Speaker
I would be completely fine with Brett Thorson never punting at all. Yeah. Yeah. I'm all about the punt returns to let's bring that bring that back.
00:54:37
Speaker
I believe that is an over under. Yes, it is. That is. i do remember that one. team team And then Bobby said, which de defensive lineman and which offensive lineman will stand out the most?
00:54:51
Speaker
I feel like Drew Bobo is going to be pretty integral on the O-lineman side things. ands get wow I feel like that he's going to be a bit of a cornerstone of that ah offensive line.
00:55:02
Speaker
um What do you think about the defensive line? Um, I'll go Kristen Miller. I like that. I like, I like that option. Um, I was also going to say on the offensive line, I I'd love to see Ernest green have a really good year.
00:55:17
Speaker
Um, I think he, he flashed early and struggled a bit last year. Um, so I, I, I'd love to have the answer be Ernest green. Right. um I think that you know there is there is a lot of noise coming out about Elijah Griffin.
00:55:33
Speaker
Yeah. um So he could be an impact player too, but I think Christian Miller is the go-to on that one. Yeah. Yeah. um I think x Xavier McLeod is another guy to look for. like he He got a lot of run like late last year, transferred from South Carolina.
00:55:51
Speaker
um So he's another one I'm kind keeping an eye. Yeah. Like i said, i think like i said i think that the defensive line will be fine. But as we just kind of like rattled off there, like there's there's some components of... mean, we're young. We're young on the defensive line.
00:56:11
Speaker
So there's opportunity there. And there are some senior... There are some upperclassmen that are there for us to you know build off of. But they weren't necessarily like huge components of last year's defense.
00:56:24
Speaker
Yeah. And I think like one of those, I think about a lot is in that vein is Jordan hall. Like he was a guy that was, and think we were looking forward to take a step forward last year, but like, know, with injuries and stuff never really happened.
00:56:36
Speaker
um So he's, he's ah he's another one. Like, I mean, he's huge three 20, like um he's another one for me there too. it I did. I did also, Jim is there's a, there's a Seymour, there's a Seymour on the, on the team as well. Was that a Richard Seymour's progeny?
00:56:54
Speaker
I'm pretty sure. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. That is. That is amazing. Again. were Good Lord. Good Lord. We are old. so ah guys that were playing when we were in college have college kids now.
00:57:10
Speaker
So old. So old. I say that, but you have a college kid. i do have your own. Yeah, yeah ah so old. Proof. Proof that I'm old.
00:57:23
Speaker
You're old balls. You're not helping me. Loose skin. helping me. Not helping me out. All right, let's go to our friend John Tweed Sports. um Does the Georgia social media team have the fire, passion and energy to get the phone wallpaper out on time for a full season?
00:57:42
Speaker
The tweets are coming from inside the house. ah Shots fired. So here's what going to say. um We are recording this Wednesday night.
00:57:54
Speaker
um Today, the social media team dropped a week zero wallpaper. So oo off to a good, do we have it? Yes. Oh yeah. Yeah. For the YouTubes.
00:58:05
Speaker
Oh, do we have it for the YouTubes? No, I don't. I could, I could attempt to. I thought you were prepping properly here. We used to be a proper, we used to be a proper podcast. Used to be a proper podcast.
00:58:19
Speaker
I could, I could try to add it. Talk amongst yourselves. No, but like. This is where we need the, the, the, the break, the break graphic. Yeah. technical difficulties well well We'll be right back.
00:58:38
Speaker
Oh, we crack ourselves up. Oh, man. um we're We're so back. We're so back. Oh, man. um So I was just going to say, the the there is so there is one out.
00:58:52
Speaker
It came out on a Wednesday. So it came out on Wallpaper Wednesday, which I feel like is ah is a big thing there. Yeah. So I don't know. Off off to a good start. I hope so. I actually told myself that I wasn't going to like care about.
00:59:06
Speaker
um I wasn't going to care about that this year, but I'm not sure that I can live up to that um because you know how I am. Yeah, we need we need to we need the fire, passion and energy from the from the social team.
00:59:20
Speaker
Coach Smart has called us out. You know, he wants to see the fire, passion and energy. And I expect to see that from the social team. Yeah. Agreed. um um I'm trying to add it right now to the screen and I'm almost there.
00:59:37
Speaker
So it's pretty, it's pretty amazing. and like it. Yeah, it's a good one. It just took us the screen.
00:59:44
Speaker
oh We're going to leave it alone. I'm going to not attempt to edit them. Next time, John. Next time. Next time ill we'll have the wallpaper up. need i need you to bring the fire, passion, and and energy to the graphics team.
00:59:56
Speaker
That's right. That's right. Hey, we're week zero. We're good. Let's see if we keep it. Um, okay. Next up, uh, this one came from a text message, uh, from my friend, Brad Kovacek.
01:00:07
Speaker
Uh, he, he said, does the average Georgia fan deep down kind of miss Steve Spurrier? Uh, while I don't miss playing against him, he was great for the league and I missed the personality.
01:00:18
Speaker
This came out of a text thread with he and I, um, another friend of ours, Adam. um And, um, I'm trying to remember, I think it was like, there was some video of Spurrier making a clip about Tennessee.
01:00:29
Speaker
That was funny. i miss I miss the edginess that he brought. um you know I guess you could argue that Lane Kiffin is bringing elements of that into into the SEC, but I feel like that Lane is more just like a, I don't know.
01:00:45
Speaker
He's not funny about it. He's just a dick about it. know
01:00:50
Speaker
um he well and He also didn't win a Heisman as a player like Spurrier did or win a national championship. I my my response ah to Brad and the text was that, like, I'm a lot more fine with Spurrier, considering that like, Grayson Lambert made him retire.
01:01:10
Speaker
So that kind of helps me have more fond memories of him, I guess, like, because it was the kind of thing where was like when when he like came back and he was at South Carolina,
01:01:21
Speaker
I remember there was like that sentiment was kind of out there like, oh, like, you know, Spurrier actually is really funny and stuff. And then like they beat us and it was like, oh, my gosh, no, I can't deal with this guy. So I don't know.
01:01:34
Speaker
I guess maybe maybe now that we're that far removed, maybe kind of. um I don't know. So don't know. I feel like i kind of feel that way. But my gut tells me if he was actually still around, I wouldn't feel that way.
01:01:47
Speaker
If that makes sense. Yeah, I don't know. I guess um I feel like that if he could kind and kind of kind of just be there in ah in a way that John Daly is kind of around for golf, like John Daly is great and all, but like I wouldn't want him around all the time.
01:02:02
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's fair. All right, let's go to All School, which, by the way, All School hype video is coming. and All School is always waiting for the annual preseason hype video.
01:02:15
Speaker
Should hopefully be out by and by Monday, like game week. It's in flight. ah Okay. So what do you think the ceiling is for Gunner? What's his floor? How do we feel about the backups? Should one of them have to come in?
01:02:28
Speaker
in August of 21, JD was a Heisman candidate and Beck was declared number two. then obviously that was the Stetson season. In 17, Easton was the man. You never know. and think we've talked a lot about Gunner.
01:02:39
Speaker
um What do you, what do you think about the backups, JP, other than honor reserve ah conversation? Not, not great, Bob. yeah yeah and mean we haven't seen we haven't seen piglasey yet oh yeah i haven't really seen yeah it's it's it would be it would be largely unproven uh which did they is that us what what is what is the depth after so we have montgomery right Yeah.
01:03:05
Speaker
um And then, yeah, but I mean, he's like freshman also. um but we have the we have We have my Linda. Hezekiah Melinda.
01:03:17
Speaker
yeah kid Isn't that the kid from Athens? Yeah, he went to Clark Central. like yeah I know. i'm high on'm I'm high on him. um I mean, i'm i'm high on all these guys, but they're freshmen. So like, yeah not not great, Bob, is exactly how I feel about the backups.
01:03:33
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. um Just like like you want to talk about if Gunner's unproven, then these kids are just coming out of the womb. You know what i mean? Yeah. um Yeah.
01:03:43
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it would be it would it would be great to be able to get them into games. It's something we've we haven't done much of the last few years, right? I mean, our starters have been playing deep into games. so Let's be real. I mean, i think that Gunnar Stockton is the starter, and it will be the starter unless he becomes not the starter, um which would be unprecedented in the Kirby Smart era for the most part.
01:04:10
Speaker
Um, I don't expect that he's going to showcase the way that he has in the past, the way that, um, others have in the past in terms of like, you know, we're talking about Dwan Mathis and, you know, I haven't seen any indication that Kirby smart is in a situation like that with him, with any of these guys. But, um, you know, uh, I think Puglisi is the clear backup quarterback. So,
01:04:36
Speaker
um Yeah, I mean, I'm sure that after Gunnar's first interception of the season, people are going be calling for Puglisi to come in and, you know, take this team to a national championship, which, you know, would be fantastic because the last time that happened, we had Stetson Bennett.
01:04:51
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, this is this is college football. So yes, that's going happen. I mean, shoot, there were people last year that were calling for Beck to get benched and put in Gunnar Stockton, so... Yeah. Yeah. True story.
01:05:02
Speaker
um Let's do, let's go over to Fletcher Proctor, which transfer portal newcomer are you most excited to see? Although Fletcher answered his questions. So he said, which transfer portal newcomer are you most excited to see? Parentheses branch, which newcomer will have the biggest impact Thomas, which will be the fan favorite Madozi.
01:05:21
Speaker
Other correct answers could have been Smurf catchings Wilkinson. Wait, those are the hoops answers. That was the basketball minute brought to Fletcher Proctor. i mean love I love it. I love the sneakiness.
01:05:33
Speaker
I know. I think in general, he's got the right three guys, at least for for me. um I'm um kind of excited. i would switch them up, though, um because I don't know.
01:05:46
Speaker
Madose is maybe the one i'm most excited to see for some reason. Really? Okay. Wow. Okay. I'm excited to see Gunner Stockton. i'm I'm the most excited to see Gunner Stockton. no Which transfer portal newcomer are you most excited? Oh, sorry. Transfer portal.
01:06:02
Speaker
so thanks for Sorry, sorry, sorry. ah Reading comprehension. um he Excited to see... Yeah, Branch. Yeah. I don't know. um I would say Impact would be Madozi.
01:06:18
Speaker
And fan favorite, I feel like, is probably going to be Branch. um I think that Branch is just going to be that dude out there based on everything that I've seen and heard, which would be...
01:06:29
Speaker
Amazing. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. I'll say honorable mention Josh McRae. Um, just cause I'm in, I'm intrigued there. Um, take a running back out of the portal. I'm intrigued. right. Next up Aaron King with all the emphasis on the dropped passes last year and the additions to the wide receiver room. Do you guys think our running game will get back on track and help carry the load more this year?
01:06:50
Speaker
Um, I mean, I think so. i think so. I, to me, like the the run game is like, you need to be able to run when they know you're going to run. kind of thing like you have to be able to give the offense a one exactly exactly so that's more where my where my head's at like last year felt like we couldn't we couldn't do that and we had to throw it we had to throw it or let beck run around and run it or you know at the very end of the season gunner run um or scheme touchdowns and beck throws to where he's not supposed to throw or throws to somewhere where the touchdown is not the handoff with one arm was pretty cool though
01:07:23
Speaker
Right. um Yeah. I don't know. I think that, ah ah like I said, offensive line, offensive line, ah offensive line. If the offensive line performs, I think we're going to have a great season on the offense, which would mean by extension, i think we're pretty confident we're going to have a good season on the defense, which would mean that we're going to have great season. so Yeah.
01:07:45
Speaker
I think the other thing too here, like just harping on, like honing in on the drop passes, like last year, this year, i mean, a good pass game helps the run game and like, and vice versa. So if we can run, it's up to play, play action pass.
01:07:58
Speaker
And if we can, if we can throw the ball well and and catch it, then de defense has to respect that, which opens opens up the run game. So hopefully that all works out and gels this year.
01:08:09
Speaker
Right. Uh, already Dwight due to dog. Uh, how many sacks will the vaunted junkyard dog defense have this season over under 40? Nice segue into sack breast cancer.
01:08:19
Speaker
Um, so if you don't know, you got to go check out the bulldogs battling breast cancer sack challenge. You can pledge in a, a dollar amount per Georgia sack. Uh, Jordan Jenkins, um, is involved and we're, I think we're calling it the Jordan Jenkins sack challenge.
01:08:34
Speaker
Um, potentially more to come on that. We'll just leave it at that. that's a high over under. um we will address that when we get to coaches. Cause this is, this is also in coaches over unders. Got it.
01:08:46
Speaker
Uh, let's Army dog, Charlie, will we be running back you over again, running back you again, over under 1500 rushing yards QB over under 3000 D line production.
01:08:57
Speaker
I think we hit most of these and they're in the, the over unders as well. So Charlie, we'll get back to that in a minute. I had this in here. Kurt, I'm not entirely sure what this was.
01:09:08
Speaker
ah Kurt said, Buck in the members-only jacket. Hound dog classic. So I don't know if Kurt wanted us to talk about Buck Willow's members-only jacket. I'm not familiar with it, if that is the case, but that sounds awesome.
01:09:22
Speaker
as we've As we've already discussed, Jim is a ah big jacket fan. and This is true. All right, John Michael D. I've been trying to put glasses on it and have some thoughts, but do y'all have any early little stitious things you're looking out for?
01:09:37
Speaker
Either way, I'm pumped to get back after another fall. Thanks to y'all for making it more fun on the high marks and bearable on the lows. First off, thank you, John Michael D. Much appreciated. um mean, I think honestly, the the the little stitches thing that I hone in on is the wallpapers. um And we we had a good start to that.
01:09:56
Speaker
um I think that's, I don't like said, I was telling myself I wasn't going care about this year. Yeah. But i'm I'm curious to see, ah John, what you find this year.
01:10:08
Speaker
Last year, the eye the eye black and stuff and everything that you were you were tracking was quite and entertaining. So whatever it is that you find, ah be sure to tag us and and let us follow that. don't know, JP, do do you have anything?
01:10:20
Speaker
um Well, we kind of already covered some of it. Got a quarterback from the state of Georgia, and we have confirmed that he is on the payroll at Onward Reserve.
01:10:31
Speaker
um So I'm feeling quite a little stitious about that. yeah um Blackout, I really... I really am a little stitious about blackout. So we'll see.
01:10:47
Speaker
um I can't really think of anything off the top of my head. I think that's good. That's good. Yeah. Yeah. right. um Lamar, Marlovelace1 on Twitter.
01:10:58
Speaker
What would Georgia be ranked with Arch Manning as quarterback one this season? So this was originally in our text though with Lamar, and then then it came here. What? The texts are coming from inside the building.
Impact of Manning Name and UGA's Road Schedule
01:11:12
Speaker
so Honestly, I think we would be number one. And I'm not saying that we would be better or whatever. It doesn't even have anything to do with that. It has to do with the Manning name and the way he's's perceived he's perceived and treated.
01:11:26
Speaker
and so I think we would be number one. I'm going give you a comparison. Matt Stafford. 2007, Matt Stafford. ma stafford Yeah.
01:11:37
Speaker
You think that's arch or you're saying that we were, we were one. I mean, we had, we had a guy, we had a guy coming in big, big arm, big talent. And yeah, we were, we were the number one ranked team in the country. And what happened? Oh, yeah. Well, that was 2008.
01:11:53
Speaker
Yeah. 2008. Sorry. The Bama blackout happened back to your little stitches. Blackout. Yeah. but Yeah. But do you, am I wrong? I think, I think perception wise that we would be.
01:12:05
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. All right, let's go to 51 to seven GATA. While everyone is looking at the home schedule, I believe the road schedule will decide if the dogs make the playoff.
01:12:15
Speaker
most difficult road game at Tennessee, at Auburn, at Mercedes-Benz versus Tech. also i believe we Also, I believe we will we will see the black jerseys this season, any tagged UGA football equipment.
01:12:27
Speaker
um I mean, ranking... We're definitely going to see the black jerseys with UGA football equipment this season, for sure. Well, yeah, they're going to tweet it nine times. in Every night game, there's going to be some video with black jerseys in the background somewhere.
01:12:41
Speaker
um I mean, Tennessee is the highest ranked true road game opponent. and if we count the cocktail party. um They're the highest ranked preseason team that we play outside of Sanford Stadium.
01:12:54
Speaker
um I don't know, man. I don't know what kind of season Georgia Tech's going to have. i mean, that yeah that was a crazy game last
Georgia Tech and UGA's Offensive Line Concerns
01:13:01
Speaker
year. It's on you know Black Friday again. um There's some people saying that there's some people picking Tech to win the ACC.
01:13:09
Speaker
I've seen that. Yeah, I've definitely seen um like go to the championship game. i've seen yeah i've I've seen some like tech playoff. Interesting. Very interesting. um My pick is always going to be at Auburn.
01:13:21
Speaker
Okay. Okay. At Auburn is a tough game. Just weird, weird things happen at Auburn. Just ask Alabama. Yeah. that georgia or georgia Just ask Georgia.
01:13:34
Speaker
I mean, yeah there's something about that stadium with the way that it's constructed that I think is gives an unintended um an accidental. I don't know that they necessarily did it on purpose, but the way that that stadium is constructed, and I've heard it from multiple. I mean, i think George has talked about that, that you go to Auburn and it's it's just they're right there on top of you.
01:13:57
Speaker
yeah Yeah. I'm good with that. um oh I'll say Tennessee just to be different. um man I don't know. As long as Josh Heupel is the the head coach at the University of Tennessee, I feel like Kirby Smart's and got that game.
01:14:13
Speaker
yeah I don't know. Kirby Smart is in his head. if If Georgia has an Alabama problem, Tennessee has a Kirby Smart problem. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. i Just to give a different answer, I'm going to change it. I'll say Tech. I think they could i think they can be pretty good. and All right. Eric Russell, which again, every every time Eric sends something in, have to comment.
01:14:35
Speaker
Great handle. Great handle. Will the offensive line come to together it this year and be a bright spot for the team? So we've talked about them. Bright spot. Do you think they can be a bright spot? Dear Lord, sweet baby Jesus, make it so. Yeah.
01:14:51
Speaker
I'm not saying that I'd take the Powerball. I'd take that over the Powerball. But if the offensive line can be a bright spot for this team, we've hit the lottery. Yeah. Yeah.
01:15:02
Speaker
That would be amazing. But will they? Yeah. We'll see. We will find out. We'll find out. don't have confidence. Sorry, guys. don't have confidence that Stacey and Aaron are just not. I've just seen too much.
01:15:14
Speaker
There's just too much body of work. I fear, ah fear, you know, I don't want to be a pessimist about the season, but I think that we're going to have problems there.
01:15:24
Speaker
ah just, the vibe the vibes are just not high for me on the offensive line. I need to show, i need some show me. Okay. Okay. Fair enough. I just don't trust Stacey Searles as a coach. And I think that we may have some questions to ask at the end of the season on whether or not this is a Willie Martinez situation.
01:15:43
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Let's go to James
UGA's Helmet Symbolism and Radio Booth Change
01:15:48
Speaker
Lawson. any Any concern that once real games happen, not having the blue helmet limits the quarterback's visibility of his reliable receiver.
01:15:56
Speaker
ah So this is in reference to the was the blue flame, right? Mm hmm. So what it's like, if you're if you're exhibiting fire, passion and energy in practice, you get the the blue cover for your helmet represents the blue flame as blue is the hottest burning within the flame. So it shows that you're doing well there. So, yeah, so this is so I don't know, maybe this goes back to the little stitches. I think James is being a little stitches about the blue flame.
01:16:23
Speaker
I don't know, man. I think that, um, I think the blue helmet is, you know, feel like it's like one of the, it's like those memes, like, you know, the, the distracted boyfriend situation. We've got the savage pads and now it's blue flame. Okay.
01:16:37
Speaker
but okay um I don't know when was the last time you had Kirby Smart pulling up all the stops like that on practice this is where this is where we need Logan's soundboard we're talking about practice we're talking practice um yeah I mean you want to know how dialed in Kirby Smart is on this season we've got practice rewards we've got practice incentives true um I think we'll be alright Ben I think we'll be alright James I agree. I agree. I'm actually i'm not concerned about it, but I did think that was hilarious. So I don't... this When they do the scrimmages, are they doing the but skull hats for the helmets?
01:17:21
Speaker
Good question. I would guess No. I'm not sure. and That's a question. If they're not wearing them in the and the scrimmages, ah the reports coming out of some of the scrimmages mirror some of the comments that we've already made. So it suggests that Gunner has no problem seeing red or blue.
01:17:42
Speaker
Fair, fair. All right, let's go to Shinobu. UGA Hoops Shinobu. How excited are we to hear Scott, DJ, and Hondo and the gang again? um What actually wanted to point out is that we do have a change in the and the radio booth this year. So Eric Zier will not be ah the play or the color commentator um in the booth with Scott Howard.
01:18:06
Speaker
um We are bringing in Josh Brock. So Josh has been on, I think, like the Saturday... ah Content, he's been doing some the podcasts with Jeff Dantzler, et cetera. So, yeah, so new new color commentator this year.
01:18:20
Speaker
So it'll be interesting. i I guess that could that could be a little stitious item.
01:18:27
Speaker
True. Changing the broadcast crew. Well, there was one game, i can't remember if it was last or the year before, where like Zyre was like in Hawaii or something. don't know.
01:18:38
Speaker
But yeah, um true, true. I hadn't even thought about way. I don't know enough about Josh Brock. Yeah, I don't know. i am but'll we'll we'll see We'll see how he does. i don't i don't I mean, I've never heard him call a game.
01:18:50
Speaker
um So we'll see if he brings different to the table. who's your But yeah, I'm excited about it. I like to listen to the home team as much as I can. Yeah. I do think that, to your point, like you know missing Eric Zier, because Zier often was able to bring a lot of perspective into the play calls and things like that is from his experience here.
01:19:12
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I agree. Let's
Heisman Trophy Speculation
01:19:15
Speaker
see. Tommy Harris wanted us to talk about special teams. Tommy, hopefully we did that we did that justice earlier. um Rambo said, y'all can go ahead and say y'all bet in the house.
01:19:25
Speaker
We will have the Heisman Trophy finally come back to Athens. I want to know, Rambo, rambo you got tag us and let us know who you're who's your Heisman pick. Yeah, who's Heisman? who's heisman I mean, Jim, jim i'm I'm a Heisman hopeful.
01:19:38
Speaker
You are? Yeah. Nothing stops you from saying that you're Heisman Oval. That's true. That's true. anyone a yeah If you're on a preseason list, you can win. If you're not, you can still win.
01:19:50
Speaker
Well, yeah we talked about that last time. Did we talk about it? I don't know. ah You got Daily Joy. He's got those SEC pretty hats. Not a sponsor yet. um But I feel like the guy version the guy version is, you know, as he's there, as is Heisman hopeful.
01:20:06
Speaker
She's just saying like it it's a preseason watch list. Preseason watch list. Oh, that's amazing. right. ah Gene Fambro wants to know which is the better touchdown celebration, finger guns from Lad or kisses to the crowd from AD?
Touchdown Celebration Debate
01:20:23
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, only only one of those receivers has been a guest on my God a podcast. Also, AD, you broke my heart. So finger guns for sure. yeah And we get the story we got the story behind the finger guns from Lad. So if you haven't, go back into the archives and listen to our interview with Lad McConkie back in 2023. Amazing.
01:20:45
Speaker
All right. We've got one more. Are you ready, JP? Do we have graphics?
UGA's Offensive and Defensive Predictions
01:20:56
Speaker
my God. My God. Trying to put glasses on. It is time for coaches over unders.
01:21:06
Speaker
Again, be sure to subscribe to the YouTube. All right, JP. Let's see. how How do we do this? How do we do this? ah Who goes first? I don't know i believe i believe last season's champion should... Gets get to choose?
01:21:19
Speaker
Gets to choose or we can flip a coin. Okay. um I'll go first.
01:21:27
Speaker
I am last season's champion. ah You make the rules. To be clear. All right. Starting off the offense. Over under 3,900 passing yards. Now, I will say, i can already hear the clarifying question.
01:21:41
Speaker
He did say offense. He didn't necessarily say Gunner Stockton. Gunner Stockton. So that could be starter plus backup, et cetera. It could be Dylan Bell. Oh, my gosh. Oh, yes.
01:21:53
Speaker
It could be Drew Bobo. and like it. well yeah Actually, when I was looking at the stats, I was looking at some stats from last season, and it was like Drew Bobo, one for one, 100% completion percentage.
01:22:05
Speaker
Yes. um And now, of course, I'm like, hmm. So that's actually right like where the team was last year.
01:22:15
Speaker
um think we'll throw for a little less this year, because I think we're going to run more. So I'm going under. I'm going to also go under. It's a good line though.
01:22:26
Speaker
I think it is a good line. So the the other thing that's throwing a wrench in it is like, you know, the extended playoff and all that kind of stuff. So it's like looking at historical numbers and all that kind of thing. It's like, who Oh, Oh, Oh gosh. Making me think about changing my answer here, John.
01:22:44
Speaker
ah so i ah I'll stand by the under. That's fine. That's fine. We're locked in. All right. Over to you. Over under 1,950 rush yards. That's a lot of yards.
01:22:55
Speaker
Total. Yeah. You have Rod Robinson, Josh McRae. I mean, we we haven't even really mentioned Nitro. Nitro Tuggles in there.
01:23:05
Speaker
Yeah. no Nitro no Nitro's he gone oh he gone oh never mind um see portaled out yeah uh yeah i'm gonna go under I just that just sounds like an awful lot of yards for the supporting cast that we have okay Okay.
01:23:25
Speaker
We're at 1742 last year. going to go over. Starting off. So, all right. um Now I'm over back to me. Total offensive touchdowns at 60.
01:23:39
Speaker
I'm going to go over. I'll go over as well. Okay. And then over to you. Touchdowns by a wide receiver 15. Okay. By one wide receiver or any wide receiver? oh I'm assuming... gonna be any It's going to be any wide receiver.
01:23:57
Speaker
I'm assuming i'm like in total. Total? Are you saying like an individual receiver? Yeah. i Are we saying Zach Branch gets more than 15 touchdowns? Like... Well, that's true.
01:24:07
Speaker
I don't know. We might have to have a clarifying question with coach.
01:24:12
Speaker
We should text him. Yeah, seriously. This is where the technical difficulties comes. So you're reading this as will any single receiver go over 15? And it could be anybody. I mean, yeah but yeah, that's how I would read. I mean, how are you? How do you read it?
01:24:26
Speaker
I don't know. Like the wide receiver room number of touchdowns? Do we have โ what was our wide receiver touchdowns last year? So let's see. Arian had four. Lovett had six. So that's 10. Yeah, so it's going to be total. 12. We only had 14 for the whole room last year.
01:24:43
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be total. Yeah. Yeah. There's no way that one having 15 touchdowns. Right, right. Okay. Just making sure. Just making sure. Okay. Because I was definitely going to smash the under.
01:24:56
Speaker
But now I'll take the over. I'll take the over. ah go I'll go opposites. I'll go opposites on the rushing over under, and I'll go over on the. Okay. I'm going to go over as well.
01:25:08
Speaker
and go um Defensive. Okay. So now it's my turn. um Over to the defense. So passing yards per game ah over under 280.
01:25:19
Speaker
um You got me hyped up on the secondary earlier, John. So I'm going to go under. Yeah, I'm go to go under. Okay. um Over to you. Defensive rushing yards per game over under 125. That seems like a good line.
01:25:36
Speaker
yeah I'm going to go over. i am as well. I am as well. um Turnover is forced at 20 for the year. I'm going to go over.
01:25:48
Speaker
many did we have last year? Yeah, so I'm going to go over on that one. It looks like um we had 19. Yeah. We did. Eight interceptions, 11. Eight interceptions, 11 bubbles.
01:25:59
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, I'll go i'll go over. right. Sacks. ah We promised that earlier. Sack challenge related. Although Dwight's over under was 40. Coach has 32. going to over 32 sacks.
01:26:13
Speaker
I'm going to over 32 sacks for the purposes of the over-unders, but I'm also going to go over on Dwight's number. Nice. nice yeah think we had 37 last year.
01:26:26
Speaker
um And then for you over to you for special teams, over-under 5.5 punts returned. I'm assuming he means by Georgia's opponents. Yeah. I like how you threw the clarifying question out before I did. ah I'm going to go under.
01:26:41
Speaker
I'm going to. Ooh. That's. Ah. oh Now I'm. Hold on. I have not locked that in. Okay. theres nothing Okay. You can think. Thinking. Now I have to think.
01:26:51
Speaker
Now I have to think if Brett Thorsten is going to be here or not. That's a big. That's a big I'm going to go under. Screw it. Yeah. Throw down the gauntlet. Under. All right.
01:27:02
Speaker
And then the last one. over Miscellaneous. Over under black jersey appearances at 0.5. In game or in social media posts? Okay.
01:27:14
Speaker
Slam the over over. It would be like 15 and a half for social media posts to over. Yeah. I'm going to I'm going under. I'm going i'm going under as well.
01:27:26
Speaker
Yeah. i i'll I will believe it when I see it. I will believe it when I see it. And I hope I'm wrong. Yeah. Yeah. Would be fine. What what I'll say is i'll say this, Kirby, if you're listening to me right now,
01:27:39
Speaker
downplay it all season long and then just give the seniors something give them give them a little bit give them give them a little bit
Golf Stories and Charity Tournament
01:27:47
Speaker
of something like you did in the past yeah yeah i think that the stadium would absolutely become unhinged from the planet from our planetary axis if that were to happen if they were to run out on onto the field in the black jerseys not like you know a la mark rick but like just in general Yeah.
01:28:08
Speaker
Yeah. um Although that would have be an amazing throwback and to do it against Alabama, that would be amazing too. Yeah. i and Not happening. file that under Things that are not happening, Alex.
01:28:21
Speaker
um Yeah. But yeah. Well, hey, coach, appreciate appreciate you as always. ah Looking forward to another year of over-unders with you um as we do on My Got a Pie Guest.
01:28:37
Speaker
Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. Congratulations on your engagement, my friend. Absolutely. All right. Well, hey, season preview. um Season has been previewed, I suppose. We talked about the week zero. We got some games.
01:28:48
Speaker
There will be college football this weekend. Man, we're here and we've got we've got kids activities over the top of everything, right? Yes.
01:28:59
Speaker
Maybe not you, but I know I do. um It's just like, I guess, different now. so but i will so I will say to his credit, since carter Carter's decided to do golf full time and that golf practice on Saturday is only 11 12. Yeah.
01:29:19
Speaker
So I will hopefully have availability for a good chunk of the, any games to part, regardless of, you know, kickoff time with, with golf talk.
01:29:30
Speaker
And since we had the one podcast where we like talked all about golf, I do have to, I do have to say like, I, I almost had my second hole in one of my life this past weekend. um had a par three, just like 140 yards or so. And it was like, it was about, don't know, two, three inches stopped short of the hole.
01:29:49
Speaker
It was one of those where like usually you think it's closer than it you think it's closer than it is when you get there. This one, like I didn't think it was that close. Then I got up there. I was like, whoa, that almost went in. Amazing.
01:30:01
Speaker
We'll see. I'm playing in a golf tournament this weekend, actually. Charity tournament for work. I'll be at Chateau Alon if anybody out there is going to be either there or playing in it.
01:30:13
Speaker
Let me know. Nice. Enjoy that. Those are fun. i'm I'm excited. and to be fair, I think it's the first scramble I think I've ever played, except for, well, I take that back. We played scramble with Dwight and John.
01:30:26
Speaker
We played with them. This is a foursome scramble, though, not a twosome. Gotcha. Okay. Those are fun. Those fun. It's been a minute since I've done it, but it was a good time. Yeah. right, man. Well, hey, we will be, we do, we do plan to have another episode.
Conclusion and Future Plans
01:30:41
Speaker
and We kind of hinted to it a couple of times, but one more episode ah before we preview Marshall. And then we'll be back next week to, to preview the season opener, home opener to kick things off.
01:30:53
Speaker
Amen. Amen. And I think that we're going to sign this off with the little Cheerio and go dogs. Yes, sir. Cheerio and go dogs.
