This week I am joined by Mache, we start off pretty heavy talking about wrestling and the wrestlers he's worked with. We also touched on the first pair of kicks he absolutely needed to have. Some of the crazy names he's been able to customize sneakers for. How he is able to build relationships through sneakers. The moment he decided to start his own sneaker line and the thought behind it. His most recent release of the Purple Pigeon Mache runners and much much more!

You are, se, people would think you are a big name in sneakers, right? But then if you're like, you know, you walk into a room and you go into like Comic-Con and you're like, who's that? Just some other white, bald, bearded dude. There's a million of me. Yeah, exactly. Like, I joke that I like my wife. like, I'm famous in a footlocker. That's it. Like, anywhere else, anywhere else, I am just another dude. That's going to be the name of this episode, bro. I'm famous in a footlocker. Yeah.
00:00:27
Speaker
i remember I remember there was one time we were in the mall and me and her were walking. she doesn't like She appreciates all this stuff, but she we were like, she's walking ahead of me. We're on the escalator in like Macy's or something. And someone goes, excuse me, Ma. She goes, oh God. And she just kept walking. She's like, I'll be over here.

Introducing Mosh

00:00:50
Speaker
What's good, everyone? Welcome back to My First Kicks and welcome to episode 250.
00:00:58
Speaker
And this week I bring to you one of maybe like the longest, the one of the first people I hit up because I wanted you to be i wanted you to be on this podcast a very long time ago um because I've been following you ever since I made an Instagram account.
00:01:14
Speaker
Mosh, welcome to the podcast, man. We finally made it Yeah. You know, of a lot of lot of hoops and trips, and I'm ah umm i'm not going to lie. I took it personal. to days Go ahead. When we had this set up, yeah I forgot when it was. February. And then you hit me, and you're like, we're all all booked, ready to go. And i was down here doing other things. So I was like, killing two words once, because I live in Connecticut. yeah so Yes, yes, yes. So coming down to Brooklyn's hike. Yes. know, I respect you. Love you to death. And I made the trip down. But... was like, all right, we're down here.
00:01:46
Speaker
Oh, I can't. We can't. I got to go somewhere. I found out that Hollywood's going Cincinnati to do this cool guy trip. I mean, she also unheard of in everywhere that went there. But I felt a little less then. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. Look, this year has been absolutely wild. It has been. I'm very proud of you. I appreciate you. see you everywhere. You're way more outside than me. So... You don't need to be outside anymore. You're good to go. You're good to go, man. I'm like the Grinch up on the mountain. Just like watching everyone talk and stuff. mean, you paid so many dues, man. Like it's insane. Like I remember finding you through the WWE post like years ago when I was like, yeah, I'm in my garage painting sneakers for wrestlers. Before it was popping like it is now. Yeah. And so, you know, I've always been a big fan of yours and we met.
00:02:37
Speaker
um was it Where was the first time we met? Was it that the Giannis thing was the first time? Or was did we meet a a previous time before? No, the first time I think was at SneakerCon, where was with Swerve. yeah, you were Swerve. And I was on stage throwing shoes at with Nems.
00:02:53
Speaker
What a time. What a ti event time, man. Cody Island, man. was wearing a Brock Lesnar jersey. You were? Yeah. Next to Swerve? Next to Swerve. And I remember Swerve was like, you have the Jared Allen jersey. I'm like, no, no, no, no. spun around. And his brother, he's like, oh okay. All right. So Swerve, he's a huge Rams fan. So you know where that's where the whole whose house came from yeah was the Rams. yeah and i I didn't know that until I found him a Rams fan. No? Now he talks shit me all time. Like when we played the Rams in the playoffs last year, he was...
00:03:21
Speaker
you that was that's a good that's a that was a good That was a good one. For them. Not for us. i was in Arizona. and It was a great time in Scottsdale and stuff. But it was ah you <unk>s tough. Hey, man. I mean, look. You were super kind to me that day. And then we became pretty cool after that. And so um it was like I remember on the way back because it was in Coney Island. I was like, I can't believe I met Mosh. like Oh, man. I can't believe we're friends. like yeah Yeah, people, when they finally do meet because again, I don't go out outside, I'm mad normal. like There's nothing, like I don't know, like there's I know a lot of famous and interesting people. yeah I'm not that interesting. what i do What I do is

Sneaker Customization Journey

00:04:04
Speaker
interesting. Me, Dan, at the house, chilling, watching Stranger Things because the Vikings lost, and I was like, I'm just going to watch Stranger Things. I can't deal with this. like I'm like every other dude. i just like A lot of people know I do for a living. Yeah, I mean, you look, you're super talented, and it's like, that can come as like, oh, intimidating, because nobody can do what you're doing at your level. Right. Well, what what elsell this is what I'll say, and the customizer part of it. and Yeah. There's so many artists that are way more talented than me, but maybe there's a
00:04:34
Speaker
a way that either they don't know how to talk to people or network or do these things or just you know how to use composition on a shoe. yeah Because I'm like one of those like master or nun kind of things. like I know I'm good. yeah There's people way more talented than me.
00:04:47
Speaker
But I might be more driven. I might be more... whatever it is. Yeah. But I'm happy to be where I am. That's all I can say. Hey, man. Like I said, you're a legend. and it Like, I... It's just... It's it's crazy every time.
00:04:59
Speaker
Like, even i remember when you when you posted the CM Punk ah Brooks and like... Hocus. The Hocus. My bad. Sorry. I'm thinking Brooks because was with Peter. Right. Right. hat played Shout out Peter. um But I was I remember you posted those and I was like, yo, those are so sick. And it's like we had that conversation of like he loves Hocus. This makes more sense. Right.
00:05:22
Speaker
And that's exactly what told him because I was like, I can make you a Jordan 1 custom. i got Everyone else, they gift you a pair of shoes, but they don't do the homework. And he's like, I really love these. I'm like, I know. That's why you got them. And you know he wore them throughout the first pitch. He wore them when AJ came out. yep My man loves them. He loves them. so i love he He's saving this for special occasions. So I know he usually wears the black ones when he's doing work, but was running promos in Chicago. yeah Those hogos are on his feet. So it's ah it's good to know they genuinely liked them. Yeah. And then I remember you were because you were here recently, too. But you you were gifting or you were giving shoes to Tom Segura when. Oh, oh, when he was in MSG. Yeah. Yeah. So the hell like like what the hell is like, how do do you just walk up and be like, no, well, I've had it. I've had a relationship with Tom when he was fat. Yeah. Yeah. Like, big yeah, fat guy's got along. But yeah, had.
00:06:14
Speaker
i don't remember how it even started, to be honest with you. We we were following each other, and I reached out, and I made i made some like water champ Adidas because this is when was selling the whole whole F Nike thing. Yeah, yeah. he So I made Adidas for him, and he and he loved them, and yeah that's kind of I went backstage. and It was in Westchester. I went down, and my wife was supposed to go, and she didn't want to go she's She's not an outside girly.
00:06:36
Speaker
So she was like, I'm going like regardless. So he left me backstage passes. I met him and talked to him and we connected. Then over the years we became friends and that's how connecting with Bert and the relationship with Christina and the family and the whole Joe Rogan, all that stuff. Like didn't know Joe Rogan already existed. That's crazy. I know that. And I was like, all right. And I saw my tattoo was featured on the show and my Randy Moss tattoo. have a Randy tattoo? I Randy Moss tattoo on my thigh. That's crazy. Yeah? Yeah. I'm going to have to think of it. I'll show it to you. It's on my Instagram, but Steve Butcher. don't if you're familiar with his artwork. He's like a master portrait artist. He's from New Zealand originally. Now he lives out in California. But he was a customer of mine who loves Kobe's. I made some Iron Man Kobe's for him. This is many, many, many moons ago. Yeah. And then finally he came and he's like, yo, bro, he goes, I have an opening if you want to fly out because he lives in California. And was like, yeah, was like, because he has one of these crazy weight lifts. So I came, went out there, had to fly back there for two days, 14 hours. Jeez.
00:07:37
Speaker
Flew back 14 hours on the the leg. Flew back, all wrapped up in plasma. did seven and seven? Yeah. I stayed at his house. yeah it Awesome spread. And then had to fly back, take a red eye because I had to film with ESPN the next morning with MLB for the World Series. I was doing a promo with them.
00:07:53
Speaker
So I'm like literally like doing filming, you know, and that's a long day. You know, it's very long setup. I don't even know how you're up. i I was just running off of, I don't know. I think I was delirious, but, but like my leg was swollen. i had plasma dripping down my leg. Cause like said, I just fresh tattoo. Yeah. And finally I tapped on my guys. I'm like, I can't do anymore. And I went, I mean, it was still like an eight, nine hour day. Jeez, man. So, but you gotta do it, man. Cause the thing is like, ah the way I look at it is the whole, what is Availability is your best thing. Yeah. Because there's, a home again, there's so many talented, willing, eager young cats, old cats. A lot of people see what I do, and they're like, I want to do that. yeah and And for good reason. If I was little Dan in the trailer park, seeing some guy doing what I want to do, i' just but I'd be motivated and whatever.

Early Challenges and Recognition

00:08:40
Speaker
So I know that there's a target on my back, but I know people look up to me. and you know it's lot It's pressure. It is pressure. But it's also like You never thought that it that it can happen to that point. No. You know, right?
00:08:53
Speaker
Bro, like when i when we started doing custom shoes, this is back in 2002. two thousand and two This is, you know, the ISS days, Nike Talk days. Shout out. Shout out. Shout out all the film. All that stuff. Like there was MySpace. There was no Instagram. There was no YouTube. There was none of that stuff. And there was, I can probably count on two hands to how many guys were doing what we were doing at that time.
00:09:13
Speaker
And most- I'm even trying to think. I'm trying to remember a name. There's like, there's Emmanuel Labor. He was still around. um There's Blue. There's, oh yeah there's ah I don't even, I don't know what he's doing now, but he was sort looked up to him There was Jester. There was, obviously you got the methamphibians, the Sabotage, all those guys. And those are the guys we were looking up to because they made it. They got the DC shoes. So like we knew that there was something possible there, yeah but like we never really thought. So like at the time, like we were sharing where to get Angel's Paint because you couldn't buy it online. had to go to Turtle Feathers or go back to Manhattan Wardrobe Supply and go in the back.
00:09:48
Speaker
And I'd have to make the trip down here to go get the paint, the little glass bottles. and like It was a garbage secret. thank But there was no YouTube on Teach You How to Customize Shoes. like it is that like There's a wealth of resources now. So like again, I'm the old guy on the hill shaking my hand with these kids that are getting all these opportunities. I'm like, I didn't have it like you had it. you I couldn't just DM someone and give you a pair of shoes. yeah like i was i was out That's when Daniel was outside. bad That's when Big Dan was outside. Dan dan was dan was definitely trekking and making a lot of trips down to New York. and ah That's when you know ah the good old days. and you know I know you can talk until you're blue in the face about the good old days. I've heard enough of the podcast.
00:10:30
Speaker
but But that's that's how it was. i remember like when I got Pharrell, his shoes, yeah I took a day off from work. I painted a pair of ice creams with his portrait on them and all this stuff. And I was like, I'm going to get these to him. Found out that this is in 2006.
00:10:46
Speaker
Is that when the Glow in Tour was? Yeah. Yeah. So they're all of N.A.R.D. was doing it in store at the BBC store, the old BBC store. yeah Stood in line all day and everyone's there. And, you know, and you're standing in line, you end up talking to people. And I'm the one guy saying with the shoebox. telling me What's in the box? Everyone's looking at my shoes and showing them off. Everyone knows what's going on. Yeah.
00:11:03
Speaker
Come to be like, i don't know, five o'clock or so. They're kind of all done. You know, they're doing signings and selling some shirt. And they're like all right, well, yeah all done. Everyone's done. We didn't get in. I'm like, no, fuck this. I was like, I didn't say it online all day. So I took a bunch of my business cards, threw them in the box and scared out my girl. Give these to Pharrell.
00:11:22
Speaker
He's like, just give them to him. like, yes, just please just give them to him. So if you remember the old BBC store, it's glass. you can see that the box going up. right And then Pharrell comes out with like Tiana Taylor and Chad. They're getting ready. And Pharrell's like asking the guy whose shoes. And and for he and comes over. He's like, dude, he goes, these these are amazing. You know, thank you so much. Yada, yada, yada. I'm goingnna show Nego. I'm going to Japan. I'm going to do all this stuff.
00:11:47
Speaker
Me, I'm like. Yeah, yeah, Then I was like, we'll see. I yes yeah i was like, I'm not, things like this don't happen. right yeah. So I was like, all right. So maybe like a month later, BBC blog, thanks to Mosh for these shoes, link to my MySpace, like all that. What? That was like getting. That's insane, dude. That is insane. Yeah. So then they used the shoes for some BBC like um stuff, like promo stuff. I have a photo of that. That is cool. That's crazy. That was making it back then.
00:12:19
Speaker
That, I mean, to me, yeah, that's like, that is a mountaintop right there. It's crazy. And I'm so mad because, again, in this time, I had, like, some shitty phone. So I couldn't take a flick. It couldn't happen like that. No point in shoot at that time. No, they were hopping in. They were hopping in the escalade, and they're off to the garden. Yeah. And that was it.
00:12:37
Speaker
But the fact that he kept his word and did that was awesome. and just goes to show you why he is where he is. yeah Because he's still that guy. and For sure. For sure. But you're here to answer the question that I ask everybody. Yeah, bro. Before we get into more stories. And that question is, what's your first kick? Was that first pair of s sneakers you absolutely needed to have? It was, I've heard a lot of people say the shoe, the black and silver fives back in 1990. Now, the reason why it was for me was, again, don't know.
00:13:04
Speaker
We did not meet the first time SneakerCon. We met the first time at ComplexCon, and you tell... you i Oh, was that in Chicago or was that in California? No, in Long Beach. In Long Beach? Yeah. Now I'm remembering because you told me. Yeah. Yeah. So the I was just saving up mowing lawns. first Because, again, like i grew I didn't grow up in like eight-mile trailer park. Don't no one get it twisted. Eight miles. You was wrapping up. I was not out there getting jumped by everyone and stuff. That wasn't me. But um ah we we we were all right. But obviously one pair a year. That was it. But like i mom was not spending $100 on shoes. So whatever. Yeah. Shoveling driveways, mowing lawns.
00:13:43
Speaker
Got my honor in 20 bucks or wherever was. yeah Went to Full Locker, the old Full Locker. This is before social media. This is before East Bay. This is before all this. I don't know what's coming out. I just want to get the Jordans. I'm rolling up in there i' roll out the Full Locker with that with the green, the AstroTurf tables and the scoreboard and all that stuff.
00:14:00
Speaker
I'm expecting the fours to be there. Yeah. No, there's a new one. They got silver tongues. Okay. And I was like, oh, these are them. Yeah. And I got those.
00:14:11
Speaker
And obviously, first day of school, you couldn't tell me shit. I had confidence and all that stuff. Because, again, I was wearing Spalding's and Voight's and all that stuff back in the day. know, that's what I was used to, my Payless kind of shoes. And i never got made for it, fun of it or anything like that, because we all, know, whatever. Yeah. But I had the confidence, know, confidence was built from that. I wore those things into the ground. I bet. know, I got a, there's a photo from our like yearbook in sixth grade. This is sixth grade when I got it.
00:14:37
Speaker
um And I had worn them in so bad that, know, like that clear part goes underneath the toe cap and it separates. Yeah. There's a pair of me playing kickball and you can see the bottom of the clear bottom folded with me doing that.
00:14:49
Speaker
And yeah obviously those are going to be my play shoes. Yeah. And then. You didn't hit it with a duct tape around there nothing? no, no, no. We didn't. We didn't do that. But it it was, it was rough. But I, I cherished them and I appreciated them because that was the first thing I bought my own money. Yeah. I mean, you know, that five. Yes. So like I remember you do have a tattoo, right? You have it on your arm. The MC Escher. Yeah. Drawing the five. Yeah, exactly. Which is super dope. And I remember like you telling me that story. And it's just like the thing about fives, like I'm not like a huge five fan because I feel like they're too bulky. But like that metallic five, even with the re-release that recently happened, it's just amazing. It's such a great shoe. Every time they're at you, want to buy them. Every single one. I'll get at least one. yeah That's just principle. yeah that like Where did you grow up a rich initially? Poughkeepsie, New York. Poughkeepsie, New York. So that's not upstate, all you New York new york City people. Because I know you guys are on your law of your little bubble up here. You guys just have your own state. Because I love New York City. I love it here. Whatever.
00:15:49
Speaker
But anything that's not west that's Westchester and upstate, New York is a massive state. I went to grad school at Oneonta. That's upstate. That's up by like the lakes in Syracuse.
00:16:00
Speaker
That's different. That's a whole different world. We'll just say that. Yeah. Like, because even now with Griselda, make every mean, I mean, yeah, Buffalo. Yeah. Everybody thinks it's like, oh, yeah, Buffalo is like right there. Like, no, no, no. It's definitely not. It's even farther past where where I went to grad school. Mm-hmm. And, you know shout out to to Al, man. He, he, uh, we did a pop up at Urban Necessities. I don't think I'm allowed to say his name like that. yes what like So, so he, we did a pop up together Urban Necessities when it was still Necessities. JC was still there. It was still popping.
00:16:36
Speaker
And he was this is before SummerSlam in Vegas. We had our pop up. I was doing a Vegas runner and he was doing all his ah fourth rope before his really fourth rope. He was just you know doing all the vintage stuff and doing and all that.
00:16:47
Speaker
But what was dope was you saw the lineup of the mix of my fans and his fans cross pollinating into there and whatever. And obviously I gave West's shoot a pair, know, bless them, whatever. Yeah. And he was like, yeah, you know, how's it going? And I'm like, oh, you know, we're so good. He goes, no, no. He goes, but how does it feel? Yeah. Like, I was like, I feel fucking amazing. Yeah. Like, but again, it goes to show you how it's the person he is. He's all about the deeper meaning, not just like connection, not just like I sold out and whatever. Like, he was really all about that. So then when our pop ups were done, we had to go to SummerSlam

WWE Connections

00:17:20
Speaker
and he we're trying figure out he had his team breaking down his stuff. And I was like, damn, I don't got don't got it. I don't got a squad. I don't got all my guys here. So thankfully, JC's people were like, yo, we'll break this down. You guys go. Because Wes was bringing 2 Chainz to his first ever SummerSlam. Oh, yeah. I remember that. And he was like, yeah, yeah, I'm really excited. He was hyped. Yeah.
00:17:43
Speaker
So he ended up going in his seats. And then I i went and WWE hooked me up with the seats. And we were like 14th row, which is great still. yeah But then um Randy Orton finished up finish up his match. I'm friends Randy's wife. We're from the same hometown. yeah So I was like, hey, gave her a hug. She goes, oh, well shit I'm going back to see Randy. She goes, you want to my seats? So me and my boy took Randy's wife's seats and we sat there ringside the whole time. Oh, my God. So we're sitting next to like cowen cow Colin Cowherd and some other random people. And then I saw like Kaz and Wale and those those are all fam. And they're, know, it's always good to see people like, like not planned. Yeah. i hope you've been enjoying this week's episode with Mosh. And if you are enjoying this week's episode, and you're watching this on YouTube, please do not forget to like subscribe.

00:19:03

Only $5 here for now. Gonna make sure I'm doing a ton of stuff. You'll start seeing that. Start populating at the end of the month. Or towards the end the month anyway. But yeah. ah But yes.
00:19:16
Speaker
Patreon.com slash myfirstkicks. But... Let's jump back right into the episode. Oh, and then then Becky, like I got a Becky Lynch story. Oh, yeah. So I'm really, I'm really cool, Becky. Like very much so. I obviously we do the custom shoes and stuff. But like she, she sent me like wedding photos. She sent me pictures of Rue when she had her. Like, like stuff that like, obviously the the trust level is great. She knows I'm not going to go do dumb stuff. my I made her baby shoes and stuff. That's adorable. You know, Uncle Mosh. yeah I said like the baby on him and had her name on whatever. That's awesome. So um I texted her. and I was like, hey, I was like, um this is when she was still not ah back yet. It was like Bianca and versus Carmella or something like that.
00:19:56
Speaker
I was like, hey, I was like, i don't know if you're gonna be in town, but I was like, obviously, Colby's probably wrestling. But i was like, if you're around, I was like, had a pop-up. goes, oh, she goes, I'm actually, um um I'm not there. And I was like, oh, bummer. All right. I was like, you know, but, you know, i'll see you next time, whatever.
00:20:08
Speaker
So she comes out and she pins Bianca in 10 seconds. yeah And then she goes, and she points me. She goes, I i got you. yeah And I was like, So she texted me. She goes, well, technically she goes, I didn't say I was in Vegas. I was on a plane when I text you. And I was like, again, kid in the trailer park. like, bro, what is this?
00:20:25
Speaker
What is your life? What is my life right now? What is going on? that's that's It's so funny because I've been asking myself that as well. Like, what is my life as of late? Yeah. um And I don't know. Like.
00:20:37
Speaker
I think it's just like, I don't know how you can explain it to people. It's just you pursued your passion and it's like, and it really took you to places that connected you to things that you really also loved as well. Yeah. And and I think doing things that you love and a cliche as it sounds, like if you're passionate and you're doing that stuff and you're obviously good at it, like you'll, you'll get these opportunities. Like obviously not everyone that works hard is going to get what they want. Right. And it takes a lot of luck and whatever. yeah But like,
00:21:05
Speaker
It's definitely possible. And and I think people people can call bullshit when they see someone that's not genuine about it. At least like the marks and stuff. They're like, you ain't really about that. yeah whatever But um it's so it's it's cool. like i've I remember um yeah I did three collaborations with WWE. I've done three. I know i know the first one. What was the first one? I'm trying to remember the first one. Damn it. What was it?
00:21:31
Speaker
It wasn't the...
00:21:34
Speaker
Didn't you do... Was it a puma? No, it was all clothing. It was all clothing? It was all clothing. Oh, crap. Then I don't remember. This is what made me think of it because obviously shouts to John and what he did for Survivor Series and stuff. Originally, I did Ugly Christmas Sweaters.
00:21:51
Speaker
Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was like Ric Flair, an Ultimate Warrior, Undertaker, Stone Cold. Obviously, i got... like you know Same thing. All the talent wearing them and i'm in stuff. And was very, very cool. Second one was I designed jackets and t-shirts with Foot Locker. And we did chalk line jackets. Yeah. it was inspired by flips of like album covers. So we did we did a Korn album cover for Alexa Bliss. Yeah. And it's supposed to say Bliss shoes. Right. and it was like And it was like the doll with the look. Yeah, remember that. But it was funny because it was before she had the Lily doll. Uh-huh. It just happened to work out. I using the corn doll, and it now looked like her thing. Yeah. But they ended just saying Twisted Bliss on it because of ah mental health and stuff. They didn't want to like do that.
00:22:35
Speaker
Still a dope jacket. Yeah. And then with Seth Rollins, we had did a Rollins band flip, obviously. Of course. um New Day did the TLC. Yes. That's crazy cool. Yeah. and I remember that. Yeah.
00:22:47
Speaker
um Sasha Banks did the Kendrick one because she was a massive Kendrick fan. I don't think I remember. I remember the other three, but I don't remember that one. flipped the Good Kid, Mad City. And instead of the the the van, it was the Brinks truck. Oh, that's sick. Yeah. yeah and And then obviously I wrote like, I forgot what I wrote. It was something with Sasha thing, like kind of like the Good Kid, Mad City. was like boss written, whatever. And then for Finn Balor, who's my best friend out of all the all the wrestlers, we did the ASAP Ferg flip because his name's Fergal. yeah So funny story with him is we made shirts that it basically said ASAP Fergal.
00:23:23
Speaker
And he wore them around and it and became, had a little cult font that people backstage were getting. him He's like, maybe, because we got to make more of them. yeah So we had to get these ASAP Fergal. It's obviously in the Trap Lord font. Yeah, for sure. So dope. Just like, it like this was like a little like insider thing and kind of grew into something else. But then when we, that's what spawned me to do the the idea with the album covers. That's sick, yeah. And I, um that was dope. And then we did a Wallymania drop with Wally. We did like varsity jackets. yeah But it was varsity jackets and hoodies and shirts. And was like, supposed to be originally centered off of like Black Champions. So we had like Big E, we had Bianca. Oh wait, no. That was a couple years ago. a Couple years ago, yeah. I was thinking the first time Kofi won. Oh, that was a whole other thing. Yeah. And then we did Becky, we did AJ Styles.
00:24:10
Speaker
don't remember who else we did. But um yeah, it it was it was fun. how it Like, I mean, the how does this how did that relationship even happen? Because I know you I know, you know, you're like, you're taking your shots. You're doing what I'm doing where I'm just like hitting up. Sure. yo help. And I mean, I said help. Yo, how let's do something. So like yeah how did I originally? Well, I mean, well the Wally connection's been since the custom stuff. He was wearing my custom LeBron's from back in forever. yeah So that that connection was always there. And that that's how that happened at first.
00:24:45
Speaker
Foot Locker and the first collabs. That was with, that was with Hawk. don't know if if you know him. he um He's a big wrestling fan, but he got in the full locker doing partnerships and stuff. He was the one that was behind all like the Fila collabs and all that stuff. But then he was also behind the the Swerve collab, yeah the Reebok and the Bucks and all that.
00:25:04
Speaker
So we we just kind of connected over stuff and he presented things. And the first thing was the ugly Christmas sweater. I was like, yeah, we can do that. Yeah. And like, I'm not a big digital guy. I'm an old school drawing guy. So I, my mocked up, had my buddy, Scotty, um, vectorize and do all that. And, you know, obviously shouts to him because, you know, some, you got to know when to bring in people that, you know, I can be creative, but you know,
00:25:26
Speaker
um So yeah, that was very widely popular and um they made the... the Oh, we did Bret Hart too. It was fire. And we did like the the winter hats and stuff. it's great Very catchy stuff. But like but the ta it was it was very dope to just see. It was my old logo. So it said Mosh Custom Kicks and WWE and whatever. And I couldn't find photos, but I was trying to like ah dig them up in my storage and I just didn't have the patience or the time for it all good. Yeah. So... um Yeah. So the WWE thing has been awesome, obviously. Yeah. And that that that that spawn from like you customizing kicks for wrestlers or like. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, Nikki Bella was the first. Right. Yeah. That's all off the video. I remember I was I was in I filmed for Total Divas. They had a crew in my old studio and I remember they rolled up and it. Film crew, and her and Bree rolled up. like I didn't know Bree was coming too. like They came to the door like, hey. i'm like And they have all their bags and stuff. I'm like, oh okay.
00:26:21
Speaker
what is We're doing this. Roll up all these cameras. And it was great. yeah Obviously, I was i was teaching Nikki how to take sneaker pics and do all this stuff. and it it was very cool and then obviously as she was the first girl and then all the other girls wanted stuff so that's when that's when charlotte came that's when sasha came that's when then then becky and then it snowballed and then you know then once i got kind of familiar with backstage and stuff it was just you know it was word of mouth and just me working the room and talking to people yeah you know finn baller i um
00:26:52
Speaker
I remember he was this is when he was first came up at NXT. It was SummerSlam in Brooklyn. when He did he demon did the Demon. you know He fought Rollins and got hurt. and whatever um but We did some Vans because that was his style. and i we We became very close friends. since son I you know helped him move when he lived in Brooklyn for a while. ran into him. yeah i ran into he used to roommate This is going to be straight up wrestling now. but yeah He used to room with Zack Sabre Jr.,
00:27:19
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I'm doing some more shoes for him. Shout out Zach, man. um you You know he was dating at the time. Yeah, I do. Yeah. We went to his birthday and went to soccer games and stuff. Yeah. But it what was really funny. i I'm so sorry to everyone that's just irrelevant podcast. Who thought this was going to be like a We'll get to the shoes. Don't worry. We'll get to the shoes minute. So they were dating at the time, and this is when he was in Brooklyn. He was doing his first MSG show. Mm-hmm. And go, when are you going the show? He goes, oh, our call time's at five. so I was probably going leave like 4.30. Mike, bro, you live in Brooklyn. I was like, you need leave like now. So he's oh, I'll take a number. We're like, no, no, no. me and my boy Mike, we're like, get in the car. So we took him and Kathy and went to the the the garden. Yeah. um As we roll up, and obviously, don't know if you remember how the old MSG was. They weren't parking underneath the garden. and They had to go park in that parking garage and walk across. Yeah. Yeah.
00:28:08
Speaker
So me and my boy Mike are walking over with Finn and Kathy looking like Gallows and Anderson flanking them because they're two big bald bearded guys looking like that. And we're walking them in and there and there's all these like wrestling tabloids with them. And we're with it and we're walking with them. I was over here like this i was i just like I was like totally like funny. I was like, I mean, it's I mean, they're out there. So whatever. Yeah. But yeah, it's so funny. It is really funny. And like shout out to Finn because he's again someone that still to this day, you know, hits up. He texted me on Thanksgiving. He's like, I'm thankful for you and stuff. And he did like that kind of stuff is cool.
00:28:47
Speaker
Liv Morgan texted me on my birthday yeah every year. And I told him that. was like, yeah, i was like, look, you didn't text birthday. Liv did. He goes, mate, I'm i'm the worst. I'm like, yeah, bro. I'm like, fuck. lives injured yeah and i mean it's it's so interesting because like i mean because we before we jumped on we didn't talk about how much like you do football cleats too and like do you ever think about like do you ever step back and be like yo two of like the two things i love i actually am part of it's wild like again me being a vikings fan like the fact that i do that for my team year in year out and it's expanded and even when guys leave like you know digs and all these other guys They're loyal and they stay with me. yeah They could go to other guys. and yeah know I'm just thankful that I'm doing a good enough job and that I'm there for them. you know But i again, since i I am so big on being ah a loyal person, like Stephon Diggs, I'll run through a wall for that dude because he's stuck with me and he's been asked by many other custom artists to do stuff and he's hit me very open. He's like, Brody.
00:29:44
Speaker
So I'm like, nah, fuck that. I got it. Whatever. And he's like, say less. And that's it. But then I know other guys, maybe I say they homie hop. They go around and then they're shopping around.
00:29:55
Speaker
You're not going to get the attention from me. And and that and that I think that's fair. Yeah, for sure. so i mean, hey, if it's like you go to a store, you want to you want to keep being like that loyal customer that comes to the store and stuff? like Yeah. Get you a little punch card. Yeah, exactly. get ted Ten customs, you get one free. Yeah. Not down there in a better tax bracket than me. But, you know, it sounds really good, though. yeah but i I definitely want to know what influenced you to start

Launching a Sneaker Brand

00:30:20
Speaker
your own sneaker brand.
00:30:22
Speaker
The brand. So it was 2020. So obviously customs were going fine. I was doing shoes for the rock. I'm doing shoes for the... doing Shoes the Rock is even crazy. That's crazy, dude. I get a shout out on Twitter. Like, that's crazy. Yeah. And like that kind of stuff. And the reason why I connected with him was first to run armor. Then I connected with his agent. His agent was also representing Becky Lynch at the time. And that's how we kind of connected. Then we're doing other stuff. So, yeah whatever. So,
00:30:51
Speaker
Rock's freaking awesome. Yeah. um So I was always doing stuff like whether it was MA All-Star. I always had something whether it was an activation with a brand or I was doing like a one-off or like the Don contest or three-point contest or or something like that. And every year I was always used to doing something like plan.
00:31:07
Speaker
And for the first year was in Chicago in 2020. And I was like and I didn't get any calls. I'm like damn like All right. ah And and you know my boy Rich, shout out Rich, he was like, yo, bro, whenever you want to take the jump and try do your own shoe, you let me know.
00:31:23
Speaker
And I was very uncomfortable about that idea. and i'm an art I'm a fine artist. I'm not an industrial designer. I'm not doing any of that stuff. i was like, I'm cool. But then I was getting nudged. I was like, maybe I shouldn't rely on these brands to dictate my calendar and how I move. So was like, you know what? was like,
00:31:41
Speaker
COVID happened. We had time. I was already kind of sketching stuff, but like then we really had time. So i was like, all right, let's figure this out. yeah So we um the V1, I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but like not totally. But I started with the Vibram sole, open tooling for people don't know. like I know people have said they show me shots of other shoes with that sole, like the Mercer shoes. And I'm like, i'm like no one's stealing anyone's ideas. It's an open tooling. You can use it. yeah But we um I was trying to use sole knew no one was using at the time.
00:32:10
Speaker
So I kind of wanted people to look at that that soul and make it synonymous with me. yeah that That was what I wanted. And um we started doing it and the first call away was the Centralia. And like it was my wife's idea to do the whole storytelling around um locations in the country in the US because the main the what we wanted to do before COVID happened was we wanted to design shoes where people we could ah it almost incentivize people to go travel to these locations yeah and build up the the tourism in America because obviously we know about Paris we know about Greece and all these fancy places but there's so many great places in America that we wanted to do that so with Centrale obviously Centrale is Silent Hill and you can't really go with there bitten whatever but it's just really dope colorway and you know at the time Wait like Silent Hill the game Yeah. So Centralia is the the town, is the abandoned town that has all the coal mines underneath. Oh. So people didnt know that the that the um the ah graffiti highway is underneath that. And they you know who i found out that was actually what that was about? Dakota Kai told me that. Wow. Because she's obviously a massive gamer. And she and I was telling her about Centralia. She goes oh, yeah, like Silent Hill.
00:33:15
Speaker
And I was like, fuck you talking about? So she was she nerded out and broke down the whole thing to me. Yeah. And was like, okay. guess I'm not paying attention enough. I thought Silent Hill was just silent. Like they just created that world. That's what thought Like said, I wasn't really a big gamer. Like I always appreciated graphics and stuff like that. Like I had to play PS2 and I remember Xbox gaming and Xbox because I did stuff with them. But like I played DVDs on it. You know what mean? Like I wasn't really, even Madden, like again, I'll play like couple games. I suck at it. I'm doing the same stuff and like, I'm usually not one to be like, oh, screw this. But I just, but I always appreciate the design and stuff because I've worked with people from, I mean, obviously, Fortnite's not that, but like I worked with Fortnite and these other gaming things and found out these really big gamers and stuff. I'm like, I wouldn't know them from a hole in the wall. But it's like, oh, you don't know who that is? like, I have no idea who that is. Either I'm washed or I just don't need to. Nah, I mean, it's just different worlds. Because, like, you are, se, people would think you are a big name in sneakers. Right. Right? But then if you're, like, you know, you walk into a room and you go into, like, Comic-Con and they're like, who's that? Just some other white, bald, bearded dude. There's a million of me. Yeah, exactly. Like, I joke that I like my wife. like, I'm famous in a full locker. That's it. Like, anywhere else, anywhere else, I am just another dude. That's going the name of this fucking episode. So, bro, how famous in a footlocker? Yeah. I remember there one time we were in the mall and me and her walking. She doesn't, like, she appreciates all this stuff, but we were like, she's just walking ahead of me. We're on the escalator in, like, Macy's or something. And I was like, excuse me, Ma. She goes, oh, God. And she just kept walking. She's like, I'll be over here. was like, okay. Okay.
00:34:54
Speaker
So it's so funny. And Mrs. Mosh could have her own spinoff of experiences that she's had. She just sold the 50 Cent. and She's asked the game if he's ever murdered anybody. Yeah. What? Yep. She's fearless is what hearing.
00:35:10
Speaker
She's the the West, the the well, Fairfield County white girl in Uggs, blonde. Like very, look at her Lily Pulitzer clothing. and yeah you know Definitely what you'd expect hanging out in 50s office. But we rolled up and um um we had a meeting with 50. I was over in shoes to him and we were hanging out hours. yeah Great conversation. 50's giving us business tips and small talk and whatever. He's in this like massage chair like in his sweats and his socks. and He's just like, this is my girlfriend. He's like, this is my girlfriend. This is massage chair. yeah So he's just sitting there chilling. then He's like hey where you like, I got an idea. He goes, what if you make a really limited amount of shoes and you just charge a shit ton for them?
00:35:49
Speaker
And me and my wife were like, It's a really good idea, 50. like but but he was so what he was so invested in it. He was all about it. So that's why, if you remember when 50 did the shoe shopping with Joel Puma, Joe asked about the customs. And he was like, if you don't fuck customs, you're stupid. Because was getting stuff from me and relevant and a couple other guys at the time. But he respected the culture for customs. So shouts to 50. But yeah. So as we were leaving, when you're congregating, ready to leave, you're in the foyer and you're all making small talk. Trying to say bye, but it takes two hours get out. Yeah, exactly. So he's going to kind of go around her and he touches his shoulder get around her. She goes, she hits him. And he's like,
00:36:29
Speaker
I'm sorry. And then she and then sheil like kind of blacked out. She goes, oh, my gosh. she was I just hit 50 cent. She goes, are they going to kill you? I'm like, I think you're good. So anytime I spoke, I mean, i don't speak to them often anymore. But yeah whenever i talk to any of those people, they always ask how she is because she left the lasting impression. Oh, I bet. Yeah. I bet. Nobody's ever done that. And then another time was um I was delivering shoes to the game in New York. I was with DJ Ski. Another suffering Vikings fan, Shasta Ski. He's doing a lot of great things right now.
00:36:56
Speaker
taking over the world. Did you know he's he he's like the founder of Dash Radio? No. Yeah. And it's like at the time was like in every like Chevy yeah car. Yeah. Man's killing it. Yeah. Killing He's like he's he's probably the most connected but person I know. I remember when I named dropped him to Mark Cuban because because I was talking to Mark Cuban about advice about stuff. Yeah. i was like I'm friends with Ski. He goes oh yeah had like a two hour conversation Mark Cuban about business and stuff.
00:37:22
Speaker
Just because name dropping. But like like genuine stuff. I mean, name job Mark Cuban. You're like, I'm just having a conversation. but but it was But it was crazy to me because I'm like, how am I talking to Mark Cuban right now? But it was only because I had a genuine relationship with Ski. yeah He's like, oh, yeah, because I know about you. you know, he's talked about you. So i was like, all right, well, least I'm not like doing dumb shit. Yeah. So I didn't embarrass myself. That's great.
00:37:42
Speaker
But um oh, yeah. So game, we were dropping off shoes. It was when... ah not uh jesus peace came out and we did jesus peace fours obviously blood red all that stuff of course um and we dropped them off and we double parked and we're she she this is when he still had the teardrops on his face they didn't have the butterfly or anything else yeah and she was walking around she's like she's distracted by the christmas tree it was it was definitely in in the winter and she looked at him and she was like does that the the chair goes i mean you you murdered somebody? And he's like like uncomfortable, like like, what do I say? like you say like i think he's more just dumbfounded that this girl's asking him this. Like totally brazen about it. yeah you know and then you know And then she kind of comes to, she's like, oh my God. She goes, I'm i'm i'm never leaving the house ever again.
00:38:29
Speaker
So again. You got her in some crazy predicaments. She put herself in crazy predicaments. She could have stayed in the car. Yeah, but like you're like, hey, come with me. And then, yeah and like I got this. I'm in this in front of 50 Cent right now. And now you're like, yeah, just come. we's We're just gonna just have a conversation. It's just like, yeah That's like surreal moment. You're like, ah and then and then for you to kind of like...
00:38:53
Speaker
The guard gets lowered because everybody's chilling. yeah And you're like, oh, she's a regular person. And then it's just like, um yeah those tears dropped me to kill somebody. She's like, oh, my God. So it was it was like a dawn on her to that that what that might mean. yeah And there was no filter. There was no like, I probably shouldn't ask this. yeah So then obviously she came to me and she's like, I probably shouldn't. All right. So so back to the to creating. Yeah. so So we got to a point where we started developing the sample. The Centralia Callaway. You know,
00:39:24
Speaker
and We sold really well. i had And we did the open tooling because, again, I didn't know how if I was going to sell 10 pairs or 10,000 pairs. I don't know. yeah And obviously, it's ah it's a lower risk to do that because you're not you're just developing uppers and stuff. So financially, it was like, okay, let's I mean, it could just be one and done or we're going to build on something. Yeah, exactly. So it went really well. um Obviously, it sold well. And, you know, we learned things along the way. And, you know, I didn't drop the next shoe until it was a pre-order. I did a pre-order, obviously, because, you know, at the at the time, people were complaining about not being able to get the shoes they wanted. And that's still a thing now. And I was like, well, you know, most, you know, products that are successful are usually a solution to a problem. And that's what I thought. Yeah. And again, I was like, you know i have a, figure I have a decent following. let's So let's see. I mean,
00:40:10
Speaker
its It's free to follow someone on Instagram, but to spend 300 bucks. I know. Yeah, that's the ah stuff. Yeah, it's tough because especially when you like you now you're like transporting from you went from a one of one customs to be like, hey, now you can buy my shoe. Right. And you know and and my my rationalization was you know custom shoes usually start $1,000 from me. So to start, and like that's where I'm answering an email from. wasn't always that way. I was usually doing them for $75 out of the barbershop. Right.
00:40:38
Speaker
That's how started. But it got to the point where I could do that. But people always wanted support, but they couldn't afford $1,000, which is totally you not... It's a luxury item. Yeah, exactly. So I thought the shoe was like, all right, well, you 300. The price point was like, I didn't want to be $100. And I also didn't want to be something crazy. I want to be somewhere in in the middle of like, I see what they spend on luxury shoes or designer shoes. I'm a designer. Yeah. So well we got that part. But, you know, the hard part is kind of convincing people that it's worth it.
00:41:04
Speaker
And obviously, you know, COVID times, people had little more money to spend. And, you know, obviously people were taking a risk and whatever. But I didn't release second colorway until everyone got their first pair now because I wanted to build trust and let them know, like, this guy took my $300 and, you know, whatever. And right away with it. Right. And obviously with pre-orders, you you never really know what you're going to get. We didn't know how long the turnaround was going to be. And it was it was like eight weeks, which is, you know, the standard, especially when you're waiting, you know, half a year for Nike and yeah and whatever. And obviously, they're selling a lot more shoes than I am. good God bless. We'll aspire to that. but um You'll get there. Yeah. yeah but But I mean, at that point, the the small single ones are harder to do than the volume. Right. um I found out from the factories. You know, you're running a bunch. They just bang them out all once and whatever.
00:41:48
Speaker
But yeah, so the the people really, really messed with this the story and we went you know with all these different places in America. And what we want to do is want people to go and check into these countries, countries these places and take a photo and you know like say you get your thing stamped and you get a discount something like that. And obviously when people, the world stopped, we couldn't do that. Right. Yeah, exactly. But um but yeah, so the V1 went really well. We had you know some cool collaborations, obviously. you know The Jeff staple at Combo Scott was big.
00:42:15
Speaker
And that was that was more of an investment in myself more than anything because I was like, i want to see i want to first I want to see if I i can go toe-to-toe with these brands. Not toe-to-toe, but just be seeing the same light. Yeah, because I think a lot of it with us, you know, with brands and beef before maybe the last like four or five years, people are strictly, you know, like Adidas, maybe some new balance. it's really hard to get somebody to switch on. And then and then it's like right now you have to buy into me as a person as well. Right. You know. And and and I think, i mean obviously, yeah I could be a nice guy in the world, but the product sucks, then product sucks. Yeah, exactly. I know um ah I reposted Mike's clip from a while ago, and I said, I was like, it's hard designing a shoe, no matter what.
00:42:55
Speaker
And even an ugly shoe is hard to design. But to actually design something that people mess with and it's good and all that stuff, that's a damn near miracle. Yeah. Everything has to hit at the right time, at the right moment. And then it's like, how do you maintain that momentum? You know, still tell stories. And I think a lot, you see Nike, like we're telling a story about Michael Jordan's gum or whatever, because they're running out stories to tell. 40 damn years. Yeah. It's a challenge because they, but think it's easier now because now, know, the kids that are obviously buying them now, they don't really, they just know he's the old guy that's in the documentary that I'm watching COVID. Yeah. You know, whatever. Or even that, or just like, oh yeah, my dad used to collect these. Right. Or like, my dad told me about this guy named Michael Jordan. Right, right. And he was just like,
00:43:39
Speaker
right but i don't know who he is or it's like oh yeah uh i saw some kid wearing them how do i get them right and then there's no real added extra context around it either right so going back to like even like having people buy into what we're doing is you gotta get people to co-sign them and genuinely like obviously you can vouch for and stuff and whatever but you know a lot of people need to see it on other people before they feel comfortable doing something different like a lot people are just like fuck gonna be different to be different but Most people aren't that way. Yeah. We want to get the cosign. I know we see it ad nauseum. All the sneaker blogs post all the same shit. You see the rollouts, all the same stock photos, same whatever. It's obviously all calculated, and marketing is... Marketing is marketing. Yeah, exactly. Top marketing. Yeah, I mean, recently... Because like recently I was had this thought. This is literally like a couple days ago today where it's just like I've been feeling like people are really painting themselves into an algorithm where it's like like if you're like. So, for example, I did. I mean, you've been to West. You did your drop at West. And so I did a live show at West. Great. I listen to it coming down here. Appreciate you. Shouts to Lester. Yeah. Yeah, shout out Lesley. I know he doesn't get behind the mic lot. No, I had great combo with him, man. Because he obviously had to sign off on doing this stuff. And we had a great conversation. Yeah. And I was super thankful for letting me actually speak to him and have that full beginning of him working at Tip Top all the It was very cool. But it was very cool to see that you did do that drop also. You did the what the... Yep. We did the Alpine Guides. Alpine Guides. Yeah. So Michael had hit me and he was like, bro, he goes, what do you how do you feel? Usually it's me soliciting people to have an idea. And he was like, what think? I'm like, I love that shoe. Yeah, let's it. It was amazing. Let's run it. That's what that was the shoe was talking about. I struck out on. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And unfortunately, don't even have your size. No, not those. I'm talking about the OG release. I'm talking about the 580s. 580s, yeah.
00:45:32
Speaker
But that I didn't even know that happened, but i was I was in the middle of moving to Queens from then. So I like had to stop right every sneaker thing ever yeah's just to save money. The release was really cool. but The part that was kind of a bummer was it was they were doing construction on the road. yeah And like obviously, like the people that showed up early, they they camped out and got their stuff and whatever.
00:45:52
Speaker
but then like you know it was like on a saturday it was on the afternoon was a nice afternoon so people weren't like walking around and doing that stuff so yeah so when we sold our pairs and we still had a bunch left but i i mean i knew that the online release was going to be where it was zoom yeah yeah because i mean it's such a great colorway it's like as soon as you see it like i remember seeing it after i like damn those are fire yeah the the color blocking of of the og onto that one just it worked really really well yeah but um like in my head when i was promoting the the live podcast i do realize that like when you're trying to get people to come out it is really hard because algorithms are more of just like giving you the same stuff that you really enjoy like if you just randomly post like hey we like come up you're they'll probably see it until then maybe next week maybe i'll get a message like yo know when is this yeah yeah it's happening and flyers get suppressed yeah you can't you can't have anything like that they want that more organic stuff and it's tough because you want to
00:46:43
Speaker
present your product in the best slate possible and you know to have this polished photo and this polished video like my my guy Shane does my content he's a monster and it's but it's like you know a lot of times we we do these full-on movies for these Halloween drops yeah and they don't get the eyes and and it's I mean obviously you know we enjoy creating the content all stuff and all this but like we want people to to see the fruits of our labor we want to see us like like like do building up the releases is almost as fun as designing the damn shoe exactly so um Speaking of which, yeah you're in town. yes We have them here. You're wearing them. yeah I'm wearing them. So we um Jeff and I are releasing the first ever

Collaborations with Icons

00:47:20
Speaker
official Purple Pigeon. yeah
00:47:22
Speaker
So you're wearing... I never went to eBay and bought the patch. I thought the patch was corny, to be honest. Like doing that, I got to me, and I'll go on record. I remember when the shoe came out, I'll go on record and say, I thought adding the patch was corny. Sorry. Yeah, you didn't want people faking the funk. I get it. Yeah, I was a cornball and I was totally fine with that, but I was also people were talking shit about my customs at the time, so I don't care. I'm counterculture. You know what I mean? So I had them and I destroyed them and stuff. Whenever when I did the V2, obviously we saw the success of the first one and that was that was the second highest shoe of all the Mosh Runners. Number one was the gouaches, which my wife designed and she never lets me forget it. She did that and she's like, I didn't need no stupid bird to sell more more shoes. Oh, she's so funny. So came to Jeff and I had the V2, like I had the Purple Pigeon on my mind because I love that shoe. Obviously I'm a Vikings fan so I love purple already. But then the Pearl Pigeon has their story and stuff and I was like, how dope would it be to do an official one and have the real bird embroidered on the shoe and you don't to this stuff.
00:48:34
Speaker
And I didn't tell Jeff for a while. yeah i know i mean i I made a sample kind of like how I did the first one was like I made the sample and then I was kind of like I'm going to it ask for forgiveness later. I was like, you know, I've worked with Jeff and have relationship with him. So i was like, it's not going mad if I make a sample. if anything just yeah and now We can't do that. yeah But then I just have a cool sample to go in the sample room. so But it worked out. so How crazy is the sample room?
00:48:55
Speaker
Oh, bro. there's but seventy be some pictures so There's so many. Like like I see always see like the iconic Joe Fresh Goods photo. yeah I got one of those photos. Yeah? Yeah. it's got to drop it, man. and Yeah, wherere we're going to there's there's so many There's so many iterations and stuff. and like Things that still could happen. like like we we did a i'll I'll just tease it. We did we did a collab with Coca-Cola o last year. No, two years ago. i might I might have showed you. Either showed me or I think you did you post that? No, i never posted it. You definitely just showed Yeah, I never posted it. It was an internal thing. And um we're we're we're still working through ah getting the legalities straightened out for it.
00:49:36
Speaker
But what's even doper is it might be running something even bigger than just what I did. So I'm kind of glad that it took this long because if we didn't, what might happen again, like i don't want to count my chickens. But I always so my wife always says I'm always going to shout her out because if she wasn't pushing me to do what we were doing. Yeah, I wouldn't be sitting on this couch. and I'd still be working at a school for autism doing stuff. And she was like, bro, she was you're wasting your your time. Wow. You need to get out. Shout out Mrs. Mosh. Mrs. Mosh was paying my bills while I was doing this and I was charging 75 bucks for a custom. She's like, bro, are you doing?
00:50:05
Speaker
Yeah. So she said you got to have somebody that's pushing you. You got to, man. It's it's all about team. And yeah that's my team. but what was saying? We're we werere still talking about the purple pigeons. Oh, so purple pigeons. So I had the samples all ready to go and um finally, like it was like year and a half ago, I finally was like, oh Jeff, I just shot him a photo. Yeah.
00:50:26
Speaker
And it was basically how the teaser went. how's that I didn't show him the bird. I showed him the shoe. yeah I was like, what do you think? And he was like, okay, all right. So we started to figure it out. And and originally, like we were we're trying to trying to schedule it because i mean Jeff has a freaking project every single week or so I've been trying to get him on his couch for minute. You can't hold a man down for 20 minutes. not So, I mean, God bless him. The good the guy guy works tirelessly for sure yeah he's he's like he got a wrestler schedule yeah so but yeah he's in he's in China right now yeah I'm like alright just drop he just dropped a shoe and then immediately I'm out yeah he brought dropped a shoe remotely it wasn't even there he wasn't there no and he's about to drop another shoe he's dropping another one then he's got other stuff yeah man's always moving and grooving you know open up stores in Shanghai and all over the place and it's wild that store looks crazy it looks so dope with the pigeon popping out yeah that is sick so dope so dope So, yeah. So, we are releasing it this Friday. don't know when this is Aaron. This is going to be after. Damn. So, you guys are missing out. Yeah. Don't sleep.
00:51:32
Speaker
I hope you didn't sleep. yeah yeah Please pull up. Yeah. um but But we're doing the pre-order model again just because we just know that that's the way to do it. We're dropping a shirt with it. And, um yeah. Full size. How does that feel to be like?
00:51:47
Speaker
Cause I'm pretty sure, i mean, we didn't touch on like how sneaker culture found you, but I'm pretty sure you, you, you probably have history with the pigeon dunk. Oh yeah. and so Like like yeah oh yeah everyone. yeah i've I've done Pigeon Air Max 90s and Pigeon Callaways. Jeff had me do Pigeon Kyrie's for Kyrie. So like that Callaway was synonymous. and But it's like, I just wanted to ask you, like how does that even feel to be like, yo, i have I'm able to talk to this legend yeah who paved the way for a lot of like what we see now. yeah like How does that even feel? It's crazy. It's crazy that I can cuss him out now. yeah like like at I'm at a level where i it's like, you know, we're not not that we're like levels or whatever, but know, like someone, he's a human being and he's a grinder and he has the same kind of vision that I do. And, you know, it's very dope that we align on so many things I never thought we would have. Yeah. Again, just.
00:52:39
Speaker
it's crazy like that's that's so crazy and then I mean if you think about it like just and totality where you're able to just like reach out to some people yeah these people you're just like hey ah you know i heard you like looking looking for a shooter you're like yeah he check this out and and then the the even crazy part is after the staple I got another collab Oh,

Wrestling and Cultural Aspirations

00:53:00
Speaker
it's a fucking banger. Yeah? Yeah. You're to have to show me that. Oh, yeah. yeah I could say it, but I don't want yet. No. No. Don't say it. Don't say tell um it. after. So, like, because we did touch on, like, you know, you went you did you've you've done ah several amount of collabs with your shoe. Sure. um
00:53:19
Speaker
I want to know, like... At what point were you feel like cause like... Actually, this is the question I really want to ask you. the like doing that Doing a ah brand new shoe was Swerve.
00:53:30
Speaker
Yeah. so like That experience and why... why so what What was that? so This is how it started. It started with Flash Garments. yeah Shout out Flash. Shout shout out to Flash. who Kid's ambitious. yeah and I forget how young he is. yeah because I first met him at South by Southwest many, many many moons ago. and um You know Nelson Diaz?
00:53:49
Speaker
um but he he he He was behind a lot of stuff. He's homies with Jeff, too. So he he had flown us out to do some stuff for South by Southwest. that were doing I remember I was doing a collaboration with Death Row Records, and I was doing custom Air Force Ones and stuff. And and I'm connected with Joe Maganello, whom I'm now close friends with and cool with. Cool as hell. It's going to be you, Tom, and Joe Manganiello. Yeah. This is before I knew Tom. Yeah. Yeah. So we were out there and connected. And then Flash was there. And he was just a young kid. He was very how he is. Very you know charismatic. Very whatever. All over place. You see him now with side gun. and Yeah. All over damn place doing stuff.
00:54:28
Speaker
And um I remember I was connected with him about um something else. i Some of my shoes. I was like, um I think I was dropping my nerves. I think. And I was like, I was going to hook him up with there. And yeah. And then he was telling me about what he was doing with Swerve. And obviously, i' I'm a wrestling fan, so like I was watching AEW. Mostly just because a lot of most most of my lot of my friends from AEW went there. over yeah So I was like yeah following like Claudio and you know Rusev and all them.
00:54:52
Speaker
Freaking Lana at the time, she died and ditched us one time. where we heard that We were at the hotel. We we weren't got beers. We at were at the bar. It was after I i was meeting with Becky and Liv. And she was there. We were drinking Guinnesses and hanging out.
00:55:05
Speaker
And she just dipped. And and my boy were like, what the fuck? And then Miro came down. And I was like, yo, your girl. He was like, yo, I'm so sorry. She was hanging out. She's cool as hell. Shout out to CJ. But anyway, I'm just name dropping shit. I'm corny as shit. I'm sorry.
00:55:23
Speaker
I was excited because it's like every once a while, I got to remember like all these things that have happened. It's just like, and it like just, yeah, just chain reaction of thoughts and whatever. So, um, Swerve. So, um, he had the idea. was like, yo, he goes, you know, I think he's really gonna be bubbling. You know, want to do this thing with him. And I almost like, you know, kind of like the rock, but like, more culture and whatever. And obviously I knew Swerve from NXT and stuff. And actually the gym that I train in is Bubba Ray Dudley's gym. Wow. So the guy that runs it with him is an indie wrestler and there's a ring in there and always tries to get me to bump and stuff. You got to take two flat back bumps. Man, I'll be dead it happens.
00:56:05
Speaker
But the indie guy had wrestled with Swerve. Uh-huh. I won't say his government. No, yeah. um But um so he had this idea of doing his own shoe and stuff. And, you know, he was, um they they had, you know, obviously he was going to be the champ and do all this stuff. So he wanted to do something with it.
00:56:22
Speaker
So um Flash had this idea for doing, he wanted to do Jordan once. And it was like something with like, with 3M and different crocodile prints and stuff and whatever. And he wanted to glow in the dark bottoms. And I was like, well, I was like, got my shoe. and And I was already working on doing a high top promenade. That was like kind idea. And I was like, Well, we I can kind of take some of the elements from your thing and we can make it work. Yeah. And and then, you know, that's what happened was we came up with that shoe that he won the championship with and and all that stuff. And we had done a run of them. And it was funny because it it was such a whirlwind. Like we get did the samples. He... yeah
00:56:57
Speaker
Flash got a pair. I got a pair. And then Swerve got his pair. And then Tony Khan got a pair. yeah We made his pair. And he won. And basically he was like, all right, well, we're we're going to drop the shoe. And and if you see Tony Khan's face, he's like, like no idea. Because he's thinking, licensing all this stuff. He's like, yeah what is going on? So we kind of pumped the brakes on a little bit.
00:57:17
Speaker
and um And then come to find out the reason why i was because they had all this stuff at Reebok going on. yeah so yeah So if you see a lot of DNA, it kind of led to that. But like we were going through the process and stuff. And like I said, we we made those runs that we had it at CedarCon. And we still got some pairs. But like, you know, we couldn't really anything with him because he he's got his thing going on. Right. yeah so So I do have him on the site just chilling. Like, like I just don't push him. If people are, if you know, you know, go get him. It says whose house?
00:57:45
Speaker
Grab him. Grab him. So if you want a piece of history. Yeah. um Because that those it sounds like that you get those and that's it. That's it. that's it They don't don't exist after that. Yeah. So, I mean, and and obviously, you know, over that time, i've I've become better friends with Swerve and yeah stuff. And I know, you know, that, you know, Flash is doing his thing and whatever.
00:58:06
Speaker
whatever they're doing. yeah So yeah, shouts to them. And it's again, it's always it's always full circle. like Just don't be an asshole to people and you never know what's gonna happen. oh Yeah, for sure. it's That's like the lesson that yeah a lot of people need to learn. It's just like, just have regular conversations with people and yeah you never know how far will go. And it's not even because of like of the anticipation. You're like, oh, you never know where going to go Just be a good human being. yeah like like I remember I was going to the factory and I was talking to the guy like sweeping the floors. I'm like talking to him and my guy was like, he goes yeah yeah he goes, you know why you're successful? Because you just go and talk to dudes and like whatever. I'm like, it's not like Mother Teresa over here. i'm i'm like I'm just being a functioning human being. like like The fact that people herald to just be a good human is like so good. yeah It's like, call me a piece of shit.
00:58:51
Speaker
You know what I mean? Don't be that. No, yeah, that's all it takes. But you're towards the end of the podcast. Oh, man. Yeah, zoom by. Yeah. But I got one last question that deals with a little visualization. I want think back young Mosh, young Dan. And now you're older, you're behind your younger self. What would you tell your younger self as he opens that box of the fives, the metallic fives?

Life Wisdom and Emotional Impact

00:59:12
Speaker
Appreciate everything. I have a tattoo on my chest that says, expect nothing, appreciate everything. And it's so damn true because it's the whole live in the moment all that stuff. I think if you expect stuff, that's when you get let down. And I think if I have no expectations, then I can't kind of be hurt. Because I think in this world now, I think a lot of us are very selfish and whatever. And I think we put a lot of faith in people when we shouldn't, which sucks. But you learn that. And you just kind of like you control the things you can control. And you appreciate what comes to you. And you make the most of it. And, you know, the fives, I appreciate it because I worked very hard for that pair. And I really do hope that, you know, some kid I remember, we did the collab with the Rockets. This young kid got a pair of the Rockets Smosh runners. And he was so hyped to get them.
01:00:00
Speaker
And I was, that's kind of like a full stroke moment for me. Yeah. So that kid's so hyped to get that shoe that has my name on the bottom of the soul. It's freaking cool as hell. I mean, it's awesome, man. Like, you don't, the the moments we we always, we're always trying to push forward to the next moment, right? Like, we're not really like looking at it like that, but we're like, we're always like, all right, all right this is cool.
01:00:21
Speaker
But we don't take that moment to be like, you know, somebody else sees it and be like, yeah. And just be like, oh, let's embrace this for a hot second, you know? Like, You've done so much for your career. I mean, you're going to do a lot more as well. But like, you know, you're absolute legend.
01:00:35
Speaker
You know, you this is a huge honor to be able to like sit with you, have conversations with you even, you know, out outside of this. And, and you know, i always think about just like seeing you go crazy like you and doing it with passion and doing it with like, you know, just one callback because like I know you said, you He tweeted out about like ah losing the independent award on Nice Kicks. and like Oh, yeah.
01:01:02
Speaker
And so I already said, but yeah, I mean, but it was just like you were more of like reflecting on it. Like, you know, it's really hard to be the one. like you are the main constant behind your brand. You create everything, you do everything. yeah yeah yeah And so, you know, it's when recognition goes out, you know, when independent brands are being named, sometimes you aren't named in it. right And so I totally understand where you're coming from because it's just like, you can be easily overlooked because people, you're and more known as a customizer when you have your own brand. And so just know people are always looking, man. Like you you do... like people wear your stuff. Like I was, I remember um when we went to the staple to the staple grand opening, you know, the camp out Mikey shout out Mikey's birthday today. Oh yeah. excellent So you got to make make sure you text him. And so he was wearing his, he was wearing his mosh runner, the, what the mosh runners. Right. All right. Yeah. And so like, and he was just like, had to, if I know I'm going to see you, I'm a rock, I'm a rock your shoe. Yeah. Mike's awesome. Mike, Kristen.
01:02:04
Speaker
they're They're, they're awesome. I remember him right there. Ah, man so they didn't bring their show back remember their show yeah yeah god we've had this conference people keep people we and him had a podcast together yeah i remember you yeah and uh people were like i know they should bring back the show i'm like no he's starting this one it's legit it's logistics yeah totally get it but mike's great it's uh and he's oh know he's uh i don't get to talk to him as often as i'd like to but we've got lot of stuff in common obviously the working out and yeah stuff, you know, it's always like, you know, he works at like midnight. He's an animal. He's crazy. Doing stuff. Yeah. He might be one person that's crazier than me in terms of the crime. Yeah. He might. He might be. I literally text him to happy birthday. i was like, please take a day off. That's what I told him. Yeah. That's that's what happens with um with the wife. Even like for Thanksgiving, like we went down. to Florida and she was like, bro, get off your phone. She's like, I want you to sleep. There's there's beach. is the force I'm forcing you. yeah and And you're just so wired to like, you know, like it's not like missing out. I'm just like, I'm just motivated. It's stuff I love. I like i love doing. I like doing stuff. But it's, um,
01:03:09
Speaker
Yeah, the the independent thing is it's tough. And obviously, you know, it's your own budget. You have a marketing budget. You don't got a seeding budget. Yeah. Like, has I'm giving you these shoes out of my pocket. I mean, I really appreciate Because I fuck with you. Yeah. And I know you'll appreciate it. Hell yeah. Because you know what happens to like, I'll seed stuff out and they don't get any ah ROI.
01:03:26
Speaker
And it's like, okay, I just gave you $300. Obviously not $300, like, right. Yeah. Money out my pocket. That's it. And if there's no ROI, like, all right, well, you'll have to get a pair shoes again. Yeah, exactly. And then give it to someone else who appreciates them. And again, it goes back to appreciating everything. You appreciate it? Cool.
01:03:41
Speaker
Like the fact that like I gave a little pair of shoes, he was appreciative as hell. like And you know he could have just big time in. You're like, oh, cool. Thanks. Cool. Thanks. Yeah. yeah He could have done that. And that's how it is. No, man. it's ah It's a huge honor like to even be free for you to gift me these. And and you know i i was i was already going to. told you I was like, I was going to buy them. I know. know. I know. So, so um but let everybody know where to find

Social Media Presence

01:04:04
Speaker
you. Let everybody know where to cop all your stuff and all that. Moshu75 on the socials. I got TikTok.
01:04:10
Speaker
I'm a 46-year-old man. Don't bother. He's doing TikTok dances on TikTok. Shirtless. Yeah. No one wants to see that. um And then i got it the YouTube. We kind of been chilling a little bit. I mean, the YouTube was popping for a while because there's a lot behind the scenes, but it's just like,
01:04:24
Speaker
It's chaotic. Again, being a one-man show, I have my content guy, and he's doing other stuff too, so I can't keep him on retainer following me around. Nah, He's hoping that something cool happens. I would have brought him here today, but he was editing our videos for Jeff's stuff. So, you know, he's not here. He can't do it. Yeah. So it's a small-time operation here. But yeah. Yeah. But yeah, follow that stuff. And obviously, Instagram is what it is. They might let you see my stuff. They might not. I don't know. We'll see. He's too big. He's too big. No, it's not even that. It's not even that. Just Instagram hates all of Yeah. Look. IG. It sucks. I remember back in the day, I would post a picture of my food. Back in the day,
01:05:00
Speaker
20,000 likes. Now, I'm going to get hype and break 1,000. And then they'll say that I'm buying followers because I got no likes no more. I'm just like, whatever. it's It is what it is. It is what it is, man. ah You know where to find me. Who is Hassan social media? Follow podcast My First Kicks pod. I'm going to kick it to myself for the outro and the Patreon. Make sure you hit up that Patreon, patreon.com slash myfirstkicks. It will really help out the podcast. Thank you again. Thanks for having me, man.
01:05:26
Speaker
Appreciate you. I hope you enjoyed this week's episode with Mosh. You know, we got to talk a lot about like wrestling and wrestling is one of my favorite things. and I'm hoping to incorporate it a lot more next year. um got some cool guests, I think lined up hopefully fourth rope. Cause you know, what's better than three ropes. Um, and also, yeah, Mosh was wearing ah a fourth rope, like fire hoodie in the episode. So lot of foreshadowing. Hopefully I can make it happen. Um,
01:05:56
Speaker
But this was a really cool episode. Mosh really, you know, we really got a chance to really just kick it and hear about his journey and the people he's been able to do customizations for. It's been really cool just like like being able to have these conversations with people that are are really like have been doing this for a long, long while and like hearing his story of how he got those customized shoes to Pharrell was super dope. um
01:06:26
Speaker
As you know, bat like I said last week, i batch record a bunch of these episodes towards the end of the month because I knew it was going to be really, really busy at work. So these were all like the next couple of this episode and and next week's episode with Deontay.
01:06:42
Speaker
They were all like within the span of a couple of weeks. And so You know, now I'm getting back in the groove of things because work was crazy. I'll break the the fourth wall down. Yes. You know, I mentioned on the on here before. But yes, I do have a full time day job that fuels a lot of this. and And in order for me to to do a lot of the things that I want to do with the podcast without relying on anything.
01:07:08
Speaker
you know, sponsorships or content creation in a sense. I'm just working my regular job to fund with my extra money that I have saved up. I will fund what I've been doing so I can do it freely. Recently, Coda said, you know, why not work to fund your creativity? Because it's nothing more freeing than be able to do it the way you want to do it and see how you're able to do it with your own money. So,
01:07:38
Speaker
I've been doing this for the last five years, keeping the overhead costs down, but as I brought it into the studio, um obviously that incurs costs, so that's why I made the Patreon, that's why i'm trying to do a little bit more extra content on the side, um in terms of just, like, adding more to the Patreon, not necessarily, like,
01:07:59
Speaker
like reviewing sneakers and stuff like that but it was just really cool that I'm able to just talk sneakers and talk about people's journeys with sneakers and how sneakers has been able to guide them through each way and i'm super thankful for that ah that I'm able to do it my way right I'm not relying on you know Google money or like YouTube money in order to make this happen because Like, i I can't even put a roof over my head with the amount that I make off of either of those platforms.

Balancing Creativity and Life

01:08:34
Speaker
so
01:08:36
Speaker
So that's why i was like, let me make sure I batch this up so that I'm not missing the an episode in the next couple weeks, especially towards the end of the the year. want to make sure that I'm, like, hitting hitting the ground.
01:08:50
Speaker
Well, landing? No, ending the year strong. And trust me, next week's episode before the year ends is...
01:08:58
Speaker
Honestly, it might change my life. Also, this one, also, hopefully, ah you all enjoyed it. This may also kind of change my life. But, like, I just think it's really cool that, like, I remember hitting up Mosh, like, when I first started this podcast and being like like, oh, no, well, not really when I first started. It was definitely, like, a couple years after I started because I was just like, yo, know I got to start hitting this, like,
01:09:25
Speaker
you know hitting up the people now so that I can hopefully get them down the road. And that's always been my mentality of just like, you know it's no for now or like they didn't see it for now like right now, but they're definitely going to see it later. right That message of just like, yo, we'd love to have you on the podcast. And as I as i like you know refined how I reached out to people and and how I got myself in front of others, it's really helped like learning how to be part of this community and part of networking and and getting the word out about this podcast as I grow it as the way it should be growing.
01:10:05
Speaker
You know, I'm not looking for tomorrow waking up with 20,000 listeners, right? But it's been really cool um just getting in in front of the right people and them sharing it to other people and then hearing about, you know, myself about like how well people perceive this podcast from other people that I'm meeting for the first time. Like it's, it's crazy. So speaking of that, got to talk to you about this week that I've been having to this. I record these the the week of, uh, yo, the first Monday i was at premium piece 50th birthday, man. It was fire. I i mean, I'm super grateful.

you know to even be asked to pull up to you know such a legendary thing he turned 50 this week and you know happy birthday again if you if you catch this pete like you know he i was as i was leaving he said to me you know just keep doing your thing and and i i immediately just i i felt like heat rise within me because you know, I have so such huge respect for Pete and like premium Pete is a fixture and, and, um, this man taught me a lot in just the one episode he taught me so much. And so being able to, to, to, to be like invited and talk to him and, and, you know, I got to see DJ DJ, I got to see just blaze DJ, which is crazy. Um, and it just was like, uh,
01:11:44
Speaker
i can't I can't even put into words, like, because just thinking about when I first started and where I'm at now, and I'm excited for the future, and I'm excited for what to what what these conversations will bring to anybody who listens to them.
01:11:59
Speaker
Like, it's really dope. And so that was dope. Then Tuesday, I got to go to to the Lambs party. um That was crazy. That was cool. And, like, shout out to all the guys. They're definitely going to be on the podcast next year, beginning of the year for sure.
01:12:17
Speaker
going to lock it in, but you know, Lamb's release was crazy. We're going to talk about that. We're to talk about their their history, and I'm excited for that. And then by the time of this recording, i would have gone I will have gone to West NYC's party with Just Blaze DJ again. We're see him spend twice in one week.
01:12:39
Speaker
And the only reason I'm bringing this up because It's crazy to think about how last year, you know, I wasn't doing any of this during this time. Like I wasn't, I was pretty much just like head down.
01:12:55
Speaker
um i think I was recording like other episodes. i I wasn't even doing like studio stuff last year in December, if I remember correctly. ah or Oh, I was gearing up to get Mero to open up the year.
01:13:11
Speaker
That's what it was. And so I was like, you know, trying to figure out, will i you know, go full into this next year and I can't believe I'm like, like even reminiscing about this. I probably should do my solo episode where I recap the whole year, which I will do.
01:13:31
Speaker
I'm still deciding if I should do that patron exclusive or, you know, maybe half in half out. We'll see. But that was like last year. I didn't get any invites to any holiday parties, but I was seeing a lot of my friends at them and I'm like, yo, that's cool. That's dope.
01:13:48
Speaker
And I've never been that type of person that's ever been like, yo, what about my, like, I don't, I feel like if I wasn't meant to be there, I will i i wasn't meant to be there. Maybe I'll be there when they when somebody actually is like, yo, we should have Haas there. And so I don't i keep it as that. Like maybe it's not my time.
01:14:06
Speaker
It's all good. I'll chill, play 2K or something like that, right? Mind my business and keep working. And this year has been like invite after invite. And so I'm sure next year gonna be even more crazier But I will always make sure the podcast is a priority. If I can't i can't get this out, then I'm not going to something.
01:14:30
Speaker
I'm just going to be like, yo, got to do pod. got to my pod. got to make sure that this is the thing because this leads to more opportunities and more chances to make these things happen.
01:14:47
Speaker
But I also know that What I'm doing this for is not for that. What I'm doing this for is for the opportunity that the when I go to those parties, I'm able to bring more guests in. Right. So.
01:15:03
Speaker
if it If it doesn't fuel the podcast, then there's no reason to do it. And so because this is my love, this is.
01:15:14
Speaker
I love just like being able to have these conversations, have these like great moments with people, and i will never sacrifice this just to be at another party, right? Or be invited to something,

Controversial Sneaker Stunt

01:15:32
Speaker
right? so But before we go towards the end this, I do want to say, um towards the end of the podcast, we didn't really get to show off Masha's Mosh and Jeff Staples most recent collab these are the purple pigeons just wanted to do a proper look proper look see and um you know big thank you to Mosh for hooking me up with these and you know as I said I wasn't a big fan of the patch on like putting in the patch on the dunk because I just love the colorway itself but like
01:16:10
Speaker
like this is a natural real collab and ode to his story that these are just absolutely fire I wore these like a bunch after he gave them me so appreciate you Mosh thank you so much um speaking of his collab with Jeff Staple you know Jeff Staple recently went viral for his stunt I don't know what want to say he threw up a pair of fake pigeons on ah on a electric wire and said it was ah his gift to New York. You know, it got the sneaker world buzzing. Um, but,
01:16:51
Speaker
I don't necessarily think all publicity is good publicity. I've been like sitting with this for a little bit. I do think that like, if he was going to do that, he should have never responded with that comment about is, is the sneaker now not fake or fake because it's not made in the same factory as the originals. And look, we all know what's a fake sneaker. We all know what it's about.
01:17:17
Speaker
Like, There is integrity within sneaker culture. And look, if you are somebody that's not part of sneaker culture and you're watching this and you start getting a taste of sneaker culture and you're wondering, like, what's the big deal that it's like a fake thing is in your possession and people think it's real or something like that, you just got to kind of think about it as like a collector.
01:17:41
Speaker
Like, and this is a collector of anything. Would you, as a collector, value something that that isn't true, that is i mean that isn't that isn't like the actual thing, or would you deem it invaluable or unvaluable because it's fake?
01:18:01
Speaker
And that goes across everything. anything You youll deem it, this is worth nothing. You just got duped. So in any sense, I don't think that there is a way out of that thought of just like, oh yeah, now it's real because Jeff Staple was the one holding them and threw them up. Like it doesn't make, it's still fake. It's still not true.
01:18:29
Speaker
It's still not the real thing. It's still like at the end of the feel more upset that he did that to that guy who wasn't part of this and saw it go crazy.
01:18:43
Speaker
on the internet and was like, I gotta go get him. Put all this effort to go get the sneakers. And it's like, he gets laughed at after the fact because everybody's like, cool, cool, cool. Yo, you've got him. Congrats for him to take pictures, not knowing that they were fake and and put put them online.
01:19:03
Speaker
And now he's getting you know, roasted for something that's not his fault. So I feel more upset for him.
01:19:16
Speaker
Do I think what Jeff did was cool? Not really, but let's see if I will talk to him about it when he jumps jumps on this podcast.
01:19:27
Speaker
We'll see. um But of course, I got to do
