Sully Shaheed: After a few week break of recovering from Nationals competition, 2026 in Novi, Michigan, we are one of the podcasts that is not contractually obligated to produce episodes. so we get to do what we want, say what we want and produce shows when we damn want, but we are back in the building. Sully Shaheed: a And welcome in to what in the world East edition, the real edition, the Midwest edition. We are back recapping the 2026 national tournaments held in at Novi, Michigan. I am your host, Sully Ali Shahid, joined by, of course, Chili. Hola, Chili. Welcome back to the show, man. What is going on? What's new in the world of Whirlyball?
Chilly: Hey, man, it's glad to be back. Nationals was cool this year. yeah You know, excited to get our opinions out there. um I know the, ah you know, the other podcast streets and, you know, the the Texas guys there on Twitch, they don't dare come after us for being contractually obligated to do episodes. They know better.
Chilly: Just like we never made it to kangaroo court. My family never made it to kangaroo court for bedazzled scoops ah because they know they they know. Don't don't do it.
Chilly: um But now I'm glad to be back here, are you know, ready to keep it real on some topics and and just get ready to let's let's let's shoot the shit as they call it here, you know.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, yeah, we're going to shoot some shit, man, because i am not, as much as I said off air, I love you, i am not. not talking to you for two hours about early ball. It's just not going to happen. Nor am I breaking this podcast up into multiple parts. We have the recap episode. And then we have, of course, the vaunted top 10 episode that will be produced next week or the week after, or whenever the hell we feel like it, because, know,

Sully Shaheed: what about so What about graduating a players? Because we'll get to it when we recap the tournament. But there' there's certain members of the Gooey Ducks that that are qualified for A now. would they be considered as A players?

Chilly: They won They absolutely bitch smacked their other Seattle team in the final. We'll cover that when we get to B. ah They apparently beat the hell out of the team that would beat some A teams in the final.
Chilly: i Thought that was a little bit thought but that was a little bit weird.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah.
Chilly: You know, coming from the other podcast, I still got to finish. Again, we'll cover that when we gotta. ah But no, again, shout out to those guys.

Chilly: They play great. They're B champs. They're not on my list. Congratulations to them. They can try to make the list next year if they are playing a I know Seattle will have to figure out all their shit out because they have nothing but an army of players.

I was um actually, disclaimer, um because you you've already you've already crossed that line. um I was informed, and you know I didn't realize it at the time, but we now have adolescent ah listeners to the podcast, 13, 14, 12-year-olds. So we might have to reel back the language, as it were.

Chilly: Listen, you know you know how many disgusting, weird things those kids heard in D from the one Chicago team?
Sully Shaheed: True.

Chilly: they're point You know how many weird, disgusting things they probably heard at the center all weekend? We we are the least.
Sully Shaheed: o
Chilly: We are the least of their concern.
Sully Shaheed: You got a great point. I'll give you that. Point, point, point, Chile. Point, Chile. So we're going to do a little back and forth.
Chilly: Yeah.
Sully Shaheed: We're going to discuss some likes, some dislikes, our favorite moments, our worst moments from Nationals. Then, of course, obviously dive into the divisional breakdown, give some props to the winners, runners up, ah you know, who let us down, who surprised us.
Sully Shaheed: um And then kind of could just go, you know, back and forth to the shooting the shit podcast. You know, we'll get our jabs in every now and then. But, you know, there's going to be a lot of kudos to be, you know given out. However, going reel it back some too and and keep it real with everybody. So, chill. I mean, let's let let's start. let's Let's start with a little little back and forth. We're going to go to a little little compliment sandwich you know for for Nationals for a little recap real quick. to like, we're gonna dislike, like, dislike, you know, just make a make a nice Big Mac out of the National scene. So, why don't you hit me with something that you liked from Nationals? What what what did you like?
Chilly: I mean, in terms of what did I like from Nationals, um
Chilly: what did I like? I mean, I thought the play, I thought the actual play of Worley Ball was really good this year. um i think this year's D division was really strong in terms of talented players.
Chilly: ah So I appreciate that. Again, always keeping the sport growing. um I do appreciate the Novi Center for being huge and being able to ah you know you know host all of us in there, which is pretty cool.
Sully Shaheed: Mm-hmm.
Chilly: um Again here, so I thought the play of Worley Ball was cool. um I didn't really have any problems with the cars. thought the cars were fine.
Chilly: um Yeah, so those couple couple things that I liked. So, yeah, I thought the play of orderly ball was good from all four divisions. um So I think that was pretty good. Again, i think this year's D division talent was super strong.
Chilly: um a lot of potential A lot of potential A players in that class. So I'm excited for them.
Sully Shaheed: Excellent. So you like the you like the play and you like the the growing talent in the D division. I'll tell you what I liked, Joe. I liked the wide variety of uniforms, uniforms and team names. The sport is just growing exponentially to the point where we're getting props on the court. I mean, did you see the goofballs in World War C with the helmets?
Sully Shaheed: That shit was hilarious. The Mean Worlds with their awesome jerseys.
Chilly: I assume... I...
Sully Shaheed: I mean, like there was a lot going on.
Chilly: I assume they dusted off those helmets from Lee's cop closet. I assume those weren't store-bought, right?
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, I'm sure Lee supplied all of those helmets.
Chilly: she point
Sully Shaheed: They were like, guys, I got you. I got you.
Chilly: Yeah.
Sully Shaheed: Don't worry. Don't worry.
Chilly: I actually fought in the war.
Sully Shaheed: I got it.
Chilly: Hmm.
Sully Shaheed: He served when he was like 50.
Chilly: Hmm.
Sully Shaheed: But yeah, I mean, i love the variety. I love the content that these guys get creative with the jerseys and the team names. They get funnier and funnier every year. um It's just a testament to how the sport is growing and it's awesome to see. So That's one of the things I liked about this year was was the wide variety of stuff. And I get to add to my collection. As you know, I collected Rafael's jersey from him winning A last year. This year, I get to claim a Gooey Duck jersey from Chief Keefe.
Sully Shaheed: So he he donated his jersey or one of his jerseys to me. It's going to go right on one of the a little plaque things that I'm going to get ah to go next to Rafael. So i think that's pretty cool. So Year after year, i like to put my support behind some players and some teams.
Sully Shaheed: And Chief Keefe and his squad didn't let me down. They went and got the job done. And I thought it was pretty cool that he was willing to give me his jersey. So thanks. Thanks, Chief Keefe. I appreciate that.
Sully Shaheed: Chili, hit me with something that you didn't like from Nationals.
Chilly: We couldn't fix the goddamn backboard.
Sully Shaheed: You're right.
Chilly: We have all these all these fucking mechanically inclined people all this fucking time and we couldn't fix we couldn't fix the backboard? damn really
Chilly: this st god damn it
Sully Shaheed: That was rather annoying. You hit and bing, and then you're thinking, nope, no good. Then the ref's got to be on no good. You think the possession's over, but it's not over. But then you got to keep playing as it didn't go in and whatever. So, yeah, that that backboard thing killed me.
Chilly: Yeah. And, and again here, man, this is not a shot at the center specifically. um And again, we we've said it before ah set center food is just always subpar.
Sully Shaheed: that That was going to lean into my my first dislike was, remember, guys, there are vegetarians in the community. We don't eat meat. So you're fucking hot dogs.
Sully Shaheed: No one wants that. Well, not no one, but several of us don't want that shit. And I'm not saying you got to like be half and half or whatever, but like. Seattle, ah chef's kiss. Every freaking day had a non-meat vegetarian option. Whether it was burgers, they gave us Beyond Burgers. whether Whatever day they had, they had something for us. So like me, Rebecca Morris, I know there' morris there's there's other vegetarians in the community.
Sully Shaheed: Your food was ass, okay? And I get it. Clint Fisher pulled me aside and said, the one thing that they're bitching about is the food. I think I did a good job. Well, you know what? If I'm paying $285 or whatever the fuck I paid,
Sully Shaheed: Like, I want to eat good. You know what I'm saying? Because, and not even good. I just want to eat, to period. I didn't want to have a plate of fries and some goddamn salad that I paid for, you know, X amount to get, okay?
Sully Shaheed: I didn't eat the third day at all. So thank God there was a tubbies right up the street that I just walked to. But still, the food is ass. that that was that was' in That was a straight F for the year, period.
Chilly: Yeah. and And again, here, again, all center food. It's just, it's, it's never a good look for the most part. Hey, you.
Sully Shaheed: I don't know. Like I said, Seattle tore it up, man. ain't going hold you. Seattle was kind of raw. Seattle did a good job.
Chilly: Again, man, it's center center food, man. I'd rather just buy my own food. I'd rather just.
Sully Shaheed: Well, you can you can buy two hot dogs and whatever the fuck Paul was trying to sell at our center are here for six bucks.
Chilly: Yeah, listen say listen listen, our center food, you know, eat home when we host it, it's not the greatest, right? Let's be real.
Sully Shaheed: Right. I know. I know.
Chilly: Right.
Sully Shaheed: But still.
Chilly: know it We know it was ass.
Sully Shaheed: Still. Right. Right. ah Hit me up again with something that you liked. give me give me another Give me another layer to the sandwich. Give me some tomato on that sandwich.
Chilly: Man, the youth.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah.
Chilly: Man, we mentioned it.
Sully Shaheed: Youth movement. Yeah. Yeah.
Chilly: man Man, the youth, you know, it was cool to see all the, I mean, like all of these kids playing and not only were they playing, they were, the majority of them were actually better than the the people they were playing against.
Chilly: So it was, it was cool to see.
Sully Shaheed: Right.
Chilly: It's cool to see the youth movement out there. Hopefully they all stick with it. um You know, that way I could play against them in a couple of years or at this point, I don't play with them at an invite or something, but yeah,
Sully Shaheed: Yeah.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah. by Eli cadence Owen. I mean like they there's youth movement, man. I like it. I like it.
Chilly: Yeah, so, man, the youth movement, that that was cool. that was That was cool to see.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, I'm go i'm actually going to tack on to that point. I'm going to say the gender movement as well. We had a lot of female representation.
Chilly: We did. We did, man. They showed up.
Sully Shaheed: Hell yeah. Yeah, we got some young Christie's out there, right?
Chilly: The women.
Chilly: Yeah, man, the women of Worley Ball, shout out to y'all, man. Y'all played amazing. um You know, yeah
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, unfortunately, we don't have time on this podcast to name every single one. I'm not going to do that, but just know the women of Worley Ball, we appreciate you, and you guys played excellent.
Chilly: Yeah, you guys, y'all killed it, man. So shout out. Shout out to the women of Whirly Ball. You guys were awesome.
Sully Shaheed: Mm-hmm. Yeah, absolutely. um I'm going to hit you with another like. The creativity, although majority AI generated, of the Burn book. I thought that was such a cool addition to the Whirly Ball community. Something fun um that people can participate in themselves.
Sully Shaheed: I thought that was really cool. And it was ah it was a motivating factor for someone because I made it four goddamn times. But, you know, it's just that's just love from the community.

Sully Shaheed: So I i appreciate
Chilly: They like they like you I was in the burn book. I thought mine was hilarious.
Sully Shaheed: i thought I thought I didn't take offense to anything, and I thought it was absolutely hilarious. So I think doing stuff like that and things that you can contribute to with was definitely a like for Nationals 2026. Hit me up with another one, man. What what else did you dislike at Nationals?
Chilly: dislike. Um,
Sully Shaheed: Because if the dislike list is short, that's a good thing, right? I mean, like, I think we're doing pretty well.
Chilly: yeah, I mean, there wasn't too many things that really pissed me off other than the backboard really. And other than that, that yeah you know, got backboard food again. I thought the car was refined.
Chilly: It's easy to always point out the reffing, but I didn't really, i didn't have a, I didn't have a problem with the reps of my game. So ah I mean, losing sucks, but that's not the center's fault.
Sully Shaheed: Fair enough. Fair enough. Fair enough. um I mean, my my only major dislike minus that was, um you know, and again, I guess it was. More so my fault was ah injuries. No one likes to play hurt. No one likes to play, um you know, ah down like your your maximum capabilities. Right. So I was hurt throughout. ah Gil got hurt a little bit. There was some people with some some travel issues, flight issues. I know Kalen's wife was going through some things.
Sully Shaheed: um You know, like it sucks when the community is affected like that. um You know, what was it? Matty Ice's family going through things as well. So, I mean, i hate it that health plays a factor in the game. I know it's a part of it. It's part of every sport.
Sully Shaheed: But if we could just come together once a year for a Nationals environment and not have anyone hurt, He wasn't having with family issues. That would be great. Like, just let's let's just limit the drama. you know what I'm saying? Like, so that was that was a dislike.
Sully Shaheed: But other than that, um I think it was a pretty solid tournament. Big ups to Clint Fisher and Cheryl for taking care of that sweet, sweet schedule. I thought that was pretty cool. They kept everybody on time and on task. So we were never really backed up. The only time we were backed up was because some D game wanted to go to four fucking overtimes.
Sully Shaheed: So that was cool. Thanks for pushing everything back. Assholes, four overtimes.
Chilly: It was a good game.
Sully Shaheed: You know what we should do, Chil? Is this should be like soccer, right? after regulation, after stoppage time, they should go to penalty kicks. Instead of penalty kicks, you take your goalie and you take your best shooter and you got 10 seconds to go one-on-one and score a bucket.
Sully Shaheed: If you can't do it, switch sides. And then that we go back and forth, first to three points. I think that would be a sweet way to solve an overtime game.
Chilly: now Not mad. I think you just do it. Uh... So I think you play your two overtime periods. Okay.
Sully Shaheed: Mm-hmm.
Chilly: And if it's still tied, then like you said, we go to like penalty kicks. So, ah but it's, again, there's five people. so best of five, right? So, you know, you could you could do a coin toss.
Sully Shaheed: Okay.
Chilly: You could choose whether you're going to, you know, ah you know, defend or, or attack. You can choose what side of the court you want to play on. Maybe you want to play.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, cars.
Chilly: Okay.
Sully Shaheed: Cars matter. Cars matter.
Chilly: No, I'm not even going to say cars, man. have to say, again, you're good this everybody can have the same car. You know who you're going up against. So so do you want to play towards the crowd or away from the crowd?
Sully Shaheed: True. True. True.
Sully Shaheed: Big thing because everybody's going to be banging on the glass.
Chilly: and

Chilly: Right, right. And then, obviously, you know, you'll send up, you know, each team will ah each team will designate their goalie, and then it'll be cool to see, you know,
Chilly: what order do you put your team in? You know, you'll have a set order. It's like, it's like, man, do we put, do we put James first? Do we put on third?
Sully Shaheed: All right. Establish, you know, establish some points early, right?
Chilly: we Right.
Sully Shaheed: do Like, what do we do?
Chilly: Right.
Sully Shaheed: yeah. yeah
Chilly: Yeah. Yeah, man. So one shot, you get one shot.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, one shot. Yeah, of course. Of course. One shot. Like imagine just like the five cars on the opposite end and like the other the five attackers are sitting in the cars and then the one goalie is just waiting.
Sully Shaheed: And then like who you're shooting out first.
Chilly: yes
Sully Shaheed: And then that person just puts their foot on the gas and goes and it' like it's time. And then you put 10 seconds on the clock. You got 10 seconds to create a shot for yourself. And that's it, man. That's it.
Chilly: Yeah, man. i Well, you just do it like soccer, right? you know All the soccer guys are like arms you know on the my halfway.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, yeah
Chilly: So all everybody else can just be you know at half court. So your team's on this side, their team's on this side. You're all just you're all watching.
Sully Shaheed: yeah. I think after two overtimes, it should come down to something like that. like That would be a hilarious and fun and interactive part of Worley Ball.
Chilly: I mean, we do have an invite coming up We can always just change the rule there.
Sully Shaheed: You could test the rules at invite. Yeah, you definitely could. Definitely could pull that off.
Chilly: I'm in.
Sully Shaheed: Hey, I'm game. I'm game. Like, it is in Cleveland.
Chilly: I'm in.
Sully Shaheed: We do make the rules, so.
Chilly: It's our canvas. We get to make and break the rules here.
Sully Shaheed: That's right. That's right. We'd be the litmus test for the new OT rules. um'm I'm down. I'm down. Chili, what was your favorite or favorite moments from Worley Ball Nationals 2026? What stood out?
Sully Shaheed: what what's that out
Chilly: ah
Chilly: I feel like because of because of Cleveland, I feel like extensions get called way more often now. And it's not even on us.
Sully Shaheed: ah
Chilly: So I don't know.
Sully Shaheed: Oh, here we go. Oh, no. You're adding more fuel to freaking Brad and Jared's fucking fire. Oh, my God. Why did you have to bring up that word?
Chilly: But here's the thing. like i was watching some games and like poor Jordan. Jordan got called on some extensions and like this dude didn't even extend. I'm like, that's a choice.
Sully Shaheed: Hmm.
Chilly: But like we, we didn't get called on too many, but man, everybody else did.
Sully Shaheed: Hmm.
Chilly: i was like, yeah, you're all welcome. know? Hey.
Chilly: So I thought everybody getting called on extensions was, was pretty funny.
Sully Shaheed: Fair enough. Fair enough. Um, yeah, it's, it's funny because like, you know, I'm, I'm a, I'm a pretty experienced ref, but there's things in the game that I still don't know that I'm still learning as I go. And, uh, I think like the proper reaction to certain calls are like pulling that person aside after the game and like telling them, right? Unless it's like a detrimental call that you know you effed up and then it affects the outcome of the game. Like I think yelling and screaming at the ref doesn't help because that that puts like the eagle eye like right on them, right?
Sully Shaheed: So like I had an instance with ah you guys when you were playing Texas when I called Brad for extension. But I didn't call whoever was mugging the shit out of ah Ross's ah hand.
Sully Shaheed: And I was like, Ross, I didn't know. Like, I honestly did not know that. Yeah. So he pulled me aside after the game. He said, literally, wrist up is a no-go. And I'm like, I don't experience that at home.
Sully Shaheed: So it's like, I couldn't call it. But he calmly put me aside and then explained it.
Chilly: right
Sully Shaheed: And then I was like, yeah. Bet. Done. Didn't hear a word from him the rest of the time. You will call Brad for an extension. He's posted on Facebook. He won't let it go for five days. He's still going on about it. You lost the game by 12, Chili.
Sully Shaheed: It had no impact on the game. None.
Chilly: hey don't don't you don't don't yell at me i was there
Sully Shaheed: So, stop.
Sully Shaheed: I wasn't yelling at you. I'm sorry. I just get riled up when people, it's an extension. Even if it's not an and what the ref says, it's it goes.
Chilly: if you

Chilly: yeah Hey, you want know a fun you want to know a fun fact about that game?
Sully Shaheed: It is what it is.
Sully Shaheed: Sure.
Chilly: So that was our first seeding was our first seating game
Sully Shaheed: Yes.
Chilly: And ah we only scored two points in the second half. And I believe DeWitt was the scorer of the two points. We were so bad. we we all this We could not score. We were so bad.
Sully Shaheed: It happens, man. It happens.
Chilly: And happens. And then, we well, we lost to them, and I think we won our next, like, four games. So we, like, we ended up 4-1 that day. Yeah, 4-1. And they...
Sully Shaheed: Of course, the game you lost is the game I riffed. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. cool cool
Chilly: We lost by 12. The extension wasn't doing anything.
Sully Shaheed: I know. know. I know.
Chilly: we were we were so We were so bad.
Sully Shaheed: I'm just bullshitting.
Sully Shaheed: have have a couple I have a couple favorite moments because they still crack me the fuck up to this day. So um we were playing. So, you know, C was a pretty top heavy division. So like there was what, 13 of us.
Sully Shaheed: And ah so some of the teams you only got to play one time, you know, and Texas was one of them.
Chilly: Yeah.
Sully Shaheed: We really wanted to play Texas twice as a litmus test, you know, just to make like these are one of the teams that. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Like we had to look out for him. So we're playing in the Texas game and both moments actually happened from that game.
Sully Shaheed: So it was one time, i think it was like relatively back-to-back possessions. The one time that our offense broke down and I was sitting at half court And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs for the ball.
Sully Shaheed: i was like, hey, hey, hey, hey. And I just fucking it just yelled at the top of my lungs. They finally got me the ball. I hit the three. And then you can hear Josh Hirschman behind me. That's my dog. That's my dog.
Sully Shaheed: I cried laughing going back to defense. I'm like, that is my dude right there. And then, oh, of course, when Josh was trying to make ah a case to get on the list, every time he got a block, he would just yell my name. That shit was hilarious.
Sully Shaheed: But it was another instance where I got stuck at cherry picker and I was trying to work my way back, but I couldn't do it. So then Billy, your freaking father yells, get the fuck back on defense. And I was like, no, how about you take this fucking two on one? So I picked the guy out and then me and Billy ran a two on one and I scored.
Sully Shaheed: Then I was like, you get back to fucking defense. And he was just, he put his head down and Moseyed on back to defense. That shit was hilarious.
Sully Shaheed: So those are those are some fun moments, man. Those are some fun moments. um What was your most disliked moment of the tournament?
Chilly: getting knocked out.
Sully Shaheed: Oh.
Chilly: yeah No, I mean, no, no.
Sully Shaheed: Well.
Chilly: no ah Dislike. Oh, there was ah when we played James and them the second time out of all people, I wasn't allowed to play.
Chilly: That was that was shitty. It was like,
Sully Shaheed: Is that why you were speaking to James the way you were? next You said next time you play, could you could you let me and Anthony play? That would be cool.
Chilly: Yeah, man, but like I'm so used to it happening to Anthony. I'm like, oh, man, that sucks for that guy. I get to play. And no like I was like, what the fuck is this? Why me? i mean, I know I was shooting really good, but, like, why me?
Sully Shaheed: You just said it! Because you're shooting really good.
Chilly: Like, and we – I think they took that second game personally because, like, we beat them. We beat them in our first seeding game against them.
Sully Shaheed: Facts.

Sully Shaheed: And, ah you know, he wants to smoke. he's been He's been talking shit. you He wants to smoke. And his first possession, I think, he had me one-on-one. And he he dunked on me. I mean, he got me pretty damn good.
Sully Shaheed: And i just I gave him the nod and said, good job, young man. i You know, shout out. And at that point, he thought that his team stood a chance. Well... Moving on forward down the game, I get stuck at Cherry again.
Sully Shaheed: And I had i had a one-on-one or a two-on-one or something like that. And I was trying to pass the ball. And Owen was defending me from the other side. And ah somebody, oh, you're in the key. And I was like, oh.
Sully Shaheed: And I looked at Owen. I was like, hey, watch this. So I turn around between two scoops and forehand it in between the two defenders and make it. And then I look back at Owen and I was like, that's how it's done, kid.
Sully Shaheed: And he's like, He tipped the cap and drove back to freaking defense. And I'm like, yeah, that's what I'm talking about, son, kid. So I'm not an offensive guy, as many of you know. However, when I have those little fleeting moments of of greatness, I'm going to let people know about it. So I had to I had to get that one over on him just to give him little one upsmanship. But again, shout out to Owen, man. You know, he's a he's young guy. He wanted to smoke.

Sully Shaheed: And I had to run to the chiropractor after like, I was worried about the tournament later, but like our first game against them and seating that day of the tournament, they tied us. And then I'm just like, why are we getting walled at four fucking wells in our side of the court? Like, where is this coming from?
Sully Shaheed: Like the first seating game we got in that ass. And then the second game, who fuck is this team? Like Teresa, Teresa was just making it rain out there.

Chilly: so I mean, ah funny you should mention that because we watched some of the tournament games on Monday. You know, old Billy O wanted to put them on.

Chilly: And so we watched that game because he was like, want to know what the hell happened. um If you actually go back and watch that game, if they could have just made two-on-ones, they had so many two-on-ones that they just didn't finish.

They made a hot run in the tournament, and i think I think if they stay together, if they want to, um they're going to make a lot of noise in the C Division next year. So I think i I'm very excited to watch them play again.
Sully Shaheed: And, you know, I think every team, you know, for the most part had – moments of greatness right i think that you know and the perennial fifth on basically everyone's team dalton every year they never got down they never got sour they never got angry at one another they just played and developed together um i know it's a tough situation for him because it's like you know you don't have your own players to go against you're just practicing or like doing stuff on your own and then like to join a team um you know, and try to do your best. It's just – it's tough, and I understand that. But they did have some moments every now and then, and, you know, we expressed that. It's go out there and have fun for the most part, and I think they did. You know, he he had his moments where he's just getting very excited when he hit a couple shots and, you know, when their team was competitive in a couple games. That was awesome. um
Sully Shaheed: But I think that – and to my point, I don't think there was really – I don't think there was really a disappointment in that division.
Sully Shaheed: I guess if you want to put like the finish around it, Texas, I guess, because they finished in fourth. i expected I expected more from you.

Sully Shaheed: So... Yeah, it was it was a lot of fun. it was it was great playing with those guys, and I would would love to do it again next year. Like I said, we've talked about it. We think we want to come back as a team.

And then to come out and try and figure it out through seating, it stinks, you know, and especially where you're dealing with guys that were not in, they don't, they don't have a center.
Sully Shaheed: So, you know, they're not playing like the last time Carl played was at last year's nationals.
Chilly: stuff.
Sully Shaheed: So you just can't get better that way. You know, Carl would be so nasty if he could play the entire freaking year and just get better and work with people. I know he wants to come to invites. I know he wants to come to a few practices when we have the joint ones. It'd be awesome to see him playing with Trey was great.
Sully Shaheed: So I had a great experience with that Atlanta team, even though we were two and out, but we, you know, in our first game against the eventual champs, the gooey ducks, we, ah we, we made a ferocious comeback, tried to give them a little sweat at the end. That was awesome.
Sully Shaheed: But ah yeah, man, shout outs to the Gooey Duck for handling their business, going through the the loser side to get back to the championship game and going back to back to win.
Sully Shaheed: um I think that, you know, they played well as a team together as well. I think Jeff Jackson was just literally on fire, like couldn't fucking miss a damn shot. um And then, you know, Seattle's, the other Seattle team, their issue, not well, issue, but they were they were Dan Carney.
Sully Shaheed: It was Dan Carney and friends. Like, let's be honest. Let's be honest. Like, Brandon, or not Brandon, ah you know, the the rest of their team, because Brandon was on the winning team, he did a solid solid job at ah holding down the defense. He wanted to get some flowers on our list, by the way.

But he he was he came straight to me about it, by the way, because I put B and C players on my list. So... But ah yeah, man, if if they slowed down Dan Carney, which they did, and then obviously on the opposite end, they couldn't stop Jeff Jackson. I mean, that championship game was a rout.

But they just they just created space and they avoided the wedge. They picked the wedge out 90% of the time. They just had clean screens, man, just draining everything. So, but yeah, man, shout out to them. I hope that the natural attrition for promoting A players in Seattle. I mean, if that, if the case is they have a fifth A team, okay,

Chilly: Um, a lot of B players subbed up in a this year, whether it was for one game or two, again, man, i know it's a lot just to go in there and sub, um, a lot of you, i know a lot of you are good players. A lot of you looked like the moment was bigger.
Chilly: um again, man, I watched poor Dan Carney go up there and like five out of his first six shots got swatted. ah Um, I mean, poor guy, ah you know So again, man, so just, again, man.
Sully Shaheed: Welcome to the big leagues, kid.
Chilly: Yeah. So, I mean, again, man, watching some of those other Seattle guys, again, man, it's this court awareness, man. It is this court awareness. um It's got to be, you know, on level 10, especially for A, man. Chilly: That's just my big tip, man. this Just court awareness. Just work on it. Listen to your upper players.

And, you know, I know they got some decisions to make, you know, because obviously they finished one and two, you know, who goes up, who mixes up, what changes they want to make, you know, whatever, if going to remain in that division, at least a chunk of them and see what kind of team they can put out for next year. But. You know, I think they all play well. You know, it's like Chicago play well.
Sully Shaheed: um The Minnesota boys, they had and they had another good showing out there. They're developing as a team. I think they're going to get nothing but better and they get the home field advantage next year. So I expect a good showing from them.
Sully Shaheed: um And like i said, man, you know, if the Atlanta guys, their core, they want to stick together. I just would love to see him at some invites and, you know, fly up for some practices, whatever the case is, just to get some court time and because it just makes you exponentially better.
Sully Shaheed: So it was fun. Like I said, it was a ride playing with them. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat if if they gave me the opportunity. So, but yeah, man.

Sully Shaheed: However... They forgot that Timmy was rolling on the other side of the court wide the fuck open, and he makes the layup for the dubs. So, I mean, Michigan ends up winning that first game.
Chilly: Well, the well they they all had to push the offense to get the bucket.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, 100%.
Chilly: It's it's kind of a catch-22, so...
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, but that was a heads-up play to get the ball down to Timmy. That was wide open for the layup. He banged it, and they won that game. So that was the end of the excitement.

Chilly: um Again, solid game. just texas is this Texas will get better. They'll improve. And then they come back to the losers bracket. Yeah. And then, man, Michigan just lost both unlimited games on their home court, especially that last game. They absolutely got mopped.
Chilly: um I mean, to get beat down like that on your own floor in the biggest game for a lot of those guys, that one's going to hurt them for a little bit.
Chilly: um I mean, Seattle literally just took Timmy out of the game, and the other guys just couldn't put ball in buckets.
Sully Shaheed: Yeah, it was that there was no adjustment to Brad Peters literally starting eight for nine, you know, because Barrett was just getting double teamed. And it was a couple of plays back to back where he had a scoop on his cart.
Sully Shaheed: because they were leaving Peters wide open. He's like, he's going to shoot and he's going to make it. Like, look at the film again. He literally stops playing in the key when he's getting double teamed, puts his scoop down.

Chilly: I mean, A was competitive across the board. um if you go back and look at seating, a lot of the teams, like you're only arguing over one to two games for C. I think we were only a game behind James and them um for first.
Chilly: So yeah. In A, man, every game matters, um especially if you're trying to improve your seeding. And, yeah, man, A is great. all the to it's It's so much fun. um You know, you're you're never playing a bad team in A.

Chilly: ah you So, so um yeah, man, so it was fun.

Chilly: we got to play We got to play some of the Seattle teams twice, which is cool. considering I think like last year we really didn't. So it was cool to play. we got to play James twice. We got to play Joe twice.
Chilly: ah but So that was cool. ah playing And again, man, you're just constantly playing against legends of the game. So, you know, it was cool to play against some new faces out there, you know, Billy and stuff.
Chilly: But yeah, man, it was competitive. It was fantastic.
Sully Shaheed: Hell yeah. I like to hear it. It was a, it was a, it was cool watching you guys. Like I said, I was rooting for you. You know what saying? Obviously, you know, home center, you know, I got closest friends are on that team.
Sully Shaheed: So it was nice to see. Um, but then like, again, i have, I have a Texas, a little Texas bias, you know, even though a lot of friends I have in Seattle as well. I mean, the whole community are my friends and family with of course the exception of whoever the fuck that was. Um,
Sully Shaheed: But yeah, it was it was an awesome tournament. It was awesome to watch. And ah yeah, man, you know I look forward to whatever Seattle decides to do with some of the guys that want to move up, ah if they move up, if they're going to incorporate another team to split those guys up and you know maneuver things around.
Sully Shaheed: um And then it was a lot of surprising 0-2s. We don't see some of the players that got 0-2'd ever put out like that. So you could tell the competitiveness went up a notch.
Sully Shaheed: So Atlanta had a nice showing as well.
Chilly: Yeah.
Sully Shaheed: Like I said, those guys don't get to practice at all.
Chilly: Yeah, they played great.
Chilly: Yeah, man. Like I said, man, everybody played great. atlanta Atlanta started to find it that Friday. um They won their first playoff game against Chicago.

Sully Shaheed: Gotcha. Fair enough. And of course, Chicago, like I said, they incorporated Jeremy Bennett seamlessly. He's one of the most ultimate team players you can, you can have out there. He's a court general.
Sully Shaheed: um You didn't play defense to play defense, you know, play offensive play offense. It doesn't matter. He's in every play. He's a step ahead of the game. And i hope he stays with that team because that's a solid team as well. And I hope they continue to grow.
Sully Shaheed: It'd be lovely to see him in Minnesota. Well, Minnesota. um But yeah, I mean, I was impressed by everybody that I watch a tournament is always a joy to watch and it was cool.
