Listen, this episode is more unhinged than normal. Sammi's got a cold and just finished speaking for four hours straight, only to come to this jam-packed episode. We've got The Women Tell All, the Fantasy Suites, and a very delayed JILLY BOX! You won't want to miss Sammi's coughing fit as Steve throws her for an absolute loop when suggesting what nail designs she should get next.

Transcript

Sammi: Hello, I'm Sammy, and you're listening to Rose Plate Special, the most dramatic, raspy, voicing-ist, tardy, recording-ist, I don't know, thrill-dating-ist recap podcast of The Bachelor ever.

Steve: Oh, hello. And I'm Steve.

Steve: Ever.

Sammi: Sorry,

Steve: And let me take the this moment to scold you.

Sammi: yeah

Steve: How dare you go away for a week and come back with a cold? Who are you?

Sammi: I know it's it's not fair. Not actually very much like me at all. um But I don't know. I've had like weird sinus issues for the past like two or three weeks. And I've been like, is it the barometric pressure? Like what is happening?

Sammi: And then it's like, I don't know. I don't know if it was just like lack of sleep, whatever. I got like a sore throat and now I sound like this. um And it's just a lot of post nasal drip and very cute TMI stuff like that.

Sammi: um But I feel okay. I mean, like I have pretty normal energy levels and um yeah, like no fever, nothing like that.

Steve: good.

Sammi: I just sound like this. So, and I just talked for four hours. about my research. um And I dressed like this.

Sammi: I got this. I got this in Des Moines. It's pretty. It's a dress. It's very cute.

Steve: Very Sammy core.

Sammi: um Very vintagey. And I was talking about vintage topics. So I i always try to dress on theme. And ah sometimes people appreciate it and sometimes they don't because they're scientists and sometimes they're Not thinking about that, you know?

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: And then they're like, oh, the dress, the poster, these are related. I see. Oh, you're a bit of an artist, huh? And then I'm like, yes, that that's what I am. So, um yeah, but sorry.

Sammi: We also, like, our allergies were bad, too, because we walked into the house and it was like filled with cats. Like you could just tell that 50 cats live there. And it was like, you know, was like you get hit with that like litter box smell and all the dander.

Steve: Oh, God.

Sammi: And we're both like, I'm technically allergic to dogs, but I think I've been around them so much that it doesn't affect me anymore.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: but I'm definitely allergic to cats. And as soon as there's like, and I like cats. And so that's a problem. But when there's one in my vicinity, I can feel it in my eyeballs, you know?

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: And I was like, okay, so we're in this house, like full of cats. My sinuses are already bad. So think it was just like a perfect storm. I don't know.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: um But here we are and we're good. and um And we're going to talk about the last two episodes and we have a Jilly box to open.

Steve: And Jillybox with some sort of evil surprise inside of it. I'm still in front

Sammi: Yes. um Yeah. So the where should we start? Let's talk a little bit about week seven and then we'll go into we'll go into the Jillybox of Doom.

Sammi: It's actually plastic wrap, which is so interesting, but it took like an extra month to get here.

Steve: of you.

Sammi: So that was weird. um it's never It's always delayed a little bit because it's coming from Canada. So sometimes it'll be held in customs for like ah while like a week, maybe two.

Steve: Yeah.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: But this was like the longest it had ever been held in customs. And I did message, but I don't think they ever got back to me. But then by the time we got home, it was like it was in the you know saved mail or whatever.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: So after the held mail came in, I was like, oh my God, Julie's here. Because I was like, am going have to message them again about like the missing Jillybox? So that's very exciting. But here's what I will say. I can tell that nobody is really watching this season because I was scrolling like mad on TikTok over spring break.

Sammi: And I didn't run into a one, not a single solitary mention of The Bachelor at all.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: The whole time I was gone.

Steve: Wow.

Sammi: And I mean, I see a lot of love is blind. I mean, my algorithm, not now I wasn't on the pop culture diner, TikTok, of course. um But just on my regular feed, like I get a lot of like Bravo stuff and a lot of like love is blind stuff.

Steve: who

Sammi: And oh, my gosh, real housewives. I mean, sorry, Mormon wives, the secret lives of Mormon wives. I'm starting to turn into a boomer. I've talked too much today. I can't.

Steve: All the wives, every single one of them.

Sammi: Although the wives that are Mormon and they wear the garments and that's the show I'm talking about. And oh my God, I love that. They're like, we're going to zoom in on Hakeem again um because we need to get his reaction on this new season of the secret lives of Mormon wives.

Steve: who

Sammi: um But yeah, I didn't see anything on my feet about, about the bachelor at all, which was like very surprising me So I feel like nobody's watching this season. I don't know. What do you think?

Steve: Yeah, it's got to be like, this does not feel like a great season.

Sammi: No, it's kind of a warm season. But and I mean, the Women Tell All was also kind of like that.

Steve: Yeah. Yeah.

Sammi: Like ah it was, ah first of all, having Jesse pretty much start by saying, should we start spilling some tea was like the most unnatural thing I've ever heard come out of his mouth.

Sammi: I don't know if you felt the same way. Yeah.

Steve: I think it's like a rudderless boat at this point, because we we know there's been like a big shakeup with the producers and and rightfully so.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: But like, it really doesn't feel like anybody's steering the ship. And then on top of that, you're dealing with the fact that as The Bachelor...

Steve: I think Grant could best be described in our post-Joey world as the the towel you use to clean up water on your bathroom floor, as far as personality goes. like There's not a lot there.

Steve: i'm i'm I'm thankful for the purpose it serves, but I'm not going to sing its praises.

Sammi: Oof.

Sammi: He wrote Party Girl or Party Girls or whatever the name of that song is.

Steve: Yeah, he did write Party Girls.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: So there's not a lot going on there. And even the drama between the women, and we can we can talk about this um for week seven, Like it it was basically the same thing in the same tone and tenor for ah like the entire show for for the for the women tell all.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: It's just like, hey, Carolina, isn't she a piece of shit? How about that? Like that's that's it, right? Like that's all there was to it.

Sammi: Yeah, it was one controversy. And like, the thing is, Zoe might have been in the hot seat a little bit had she been on the Women Tell All. um

Steve: hmm.

Sammi: So, I mean, good for her. She was spared that. That was lucky.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: But... I what would you i mean, it didn't sound great. I'll be honest. It didn't sound great when they said that at the basketball date that she didn't just pull him away for like five to 10 minutes.

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: It was an hour. i was like, that's not great. I don't know. That's not awesome. But also like the producers can always like pull you back in and say, hey, you got to go do this thing.

Sammi: So, you know, ultimately the timing is up to. whoever's running the show. um So if she was able to snag an hour, she was able to snag an hour. Do I think that's maybe a little exaggerated? Probably.

Sammi: i would be surprised if it was that long. And I thought it was funny that the women were like, well, the kids, they were so sad because they skipped school to be there. I'm like, I don't think the kids care one way or another.

Steve: but What kid is sad when they skip school?

Sammi: They're not in school.

Steve: What kind of a fucking nerd kid are you?

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: Be happy.

Sammi: Well, me like me, it was me.

Steve: Skip school. Yeah. Oh, wow.

Sammi: I was me as a kid.

Steve: I missed fifth period. What am I going to do? My name is Sammy.

Sammi: Yeah, that was me. Yeah, i was like, I was like, well, am I gonna have to make up the homework or what's happening? Do I, you know, what do I do? um Yeah, those are the students that I have that I still identify with today when they message me and they're like, what can I will do anything to make up this work?

Sammi: I'm like, it's okay, we're gonna figure it out together. It's not a big deal. it This is college.

Steve: It's going to be all right, guys.

Sammi: We're We're fine. But I get it because I was an overachiever the whole way. um But yeah, so they might have had some controversy with that. But like there just wasn't anything else in the house. And also, I mean, to their credit, I do think the bloopers on this season were actually some of the best bloopers I've ever seen because it seemed like they all had a lot of fun in the house and really got along. And I'm like, why didn't we see more of that?

Sammi: But there just wasn't a lot of controversy to go around. Everybody pretty much got along with everybody else. There were a couple of people who kind of kept to themselves and the women decided that they were a problem. And we've got to just we've got ah discuss whether we think they were a problem after, you know, being presented with additional ah nothing evident. I don't know, a little bit of evidence, maybe a tiny bit of evidence. But Um, what I will say at the beginning is i am so sad that Parisa basically got nothing in this episode.

Steve: Not a thing.

Sammi: Like she got some claps. Chloe got some claps. Chloe got like a mention. And then they did Chubby Bunny on stage and they didn't invite Parisa to come do it with them.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Which is wild. Like, that's a choice.

Sammi: I was screaming at the TV.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: I was like, this is why I sound like this right now. Cause I was screaming at the TV. I was like, this is criminal.

Steve: Yeah, Jesse's just like, yeah oh this season, one of the things we learned about you, which they really had to reach for this because we don't know much about him other than, you know, he wrote Party Girls as, oh, you're great at playing Chubby Bunny. How do we know this?

Steve: How do we know this, Jesse?

Sammi: Yeah, because...

Steve: Maybe it's because another woman who's sitting 10 feet away taught him how to really yeah showed him who he was, what his potential was in the world of Chubby Bunny.

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: I was so mad because I'm like, okay, first of all, like, you know, Parisa was all sad because she was like, maybe I talked about rocks too much. And I'm like, no, you didn't talk about rocks too much. You could never talk about rocks too much.

Sammi: You had the chance to be like the Gabby of the season and you were completely robbed of that. I know you're funny as shit.

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: And and then you would have had like a chance like that's a good paradise audition. Go on there. Do Chubby Bunny. And she looks like she would have done it. I feel like she wouldn't have turned that down if they were like, Parisa, do you want to come up and also do Chubby Bunny? I think she would have been like, yes. Why wouldn't I?

Sammi: So it was just weird. Like, are they like, oh, she's all dressed up, so she doesn't want to do Chubby Bunny. Come on. Come on. Look at you're talking about. So anyway, that really upset me ah more than the rest of the episode.

Sammi: um But yeah, of course, of course, Chloe um got, you know, a little bit of claps because she's a fan favorite. um Dina, by the way, oh my God, those glasses were.

Sammi: yeah those were good. I liked I liked the whole look.

Steve: who

Sammi: She was like fully leaning into like Elle Woods, don't you think? Like she's just like, here's my glasses. Here's my like blue blazer. Like, yeah.

Steve: oh my god yeah she was she was going real powerful lady the whole time she's like here's the exact apology you should have said

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Yeah, that was a little much, but I still like Dina, so, like, whatever.

Steve: ahs like

Sammi: um

Steve: you

Sammi: But i was like I was like, oh, my gosh. But then Carolina is like, this was kind of weird. I feel like Carolina was just nervous the whole time, which, like, to be fair, like, why wouldn't you be nervous?

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: um But I feel like...

Steve: With literal lawyer like interrogating you from two feet away.

Sammi: Right. Well, it's just like, I feel like she tried to lean into the villain edit because she's like, whatever, if they're going to call me a villain, fine. But the thing is, I still don't think she's a villain and I still don't really think she did anything wrong.

Sammi: Sorry.

Steve: No, it's a pretty, it's a pretty weak case.

Sammi: i still don't think so.

Steve: And like some of the girls can be salty about how things went down and you could say, well, she's kind of a ah whiny cry baby or whatever.

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Sure.

Steve: Like you could say all these things, but it's just like, did did we need to dedicate the entirety of this episode of of the women tell all to just shitting on her?

Steve: And really it's like, no, but also there's nothing else to talk about. there There really isn't. And Grant is sort of the architect of all this because it seems like, I don't know, like he just like the way that he juices up these women, he's the king of you've got nothing to worry about when you absolutely have something to worry about.

Sammi: Don't worry. Don't worry about anything. Yeah. Like, oh, gosh.

Steve: Mm hmm.

Sammi: I mean, we'll talk about next episode. That's going to be even weirder. But yeah, I didn't even like really get to see what was on Carolina's jacket. I just had to look at it again. and So like, did the front also say crazy and evil or was it just the back that said that?

Steve: um i i don't know her whole outfit was a lot like i was trying to to drink it all in here and i i think it was just the back it was uh a little too melania for my taste uh

Sammi: hu ah that's so funny that you would say that. I mean, ah yeah, I could see that. I mean, i i think, I don't know if there would be a right way to play it. Let's put it that way. I don't know if there was like a right way for her to play it off and get redemption on the women tell all.

Sammi: I don't think that that's possible.

Steve: No.

Sammi: So I get why she wanted to lean into being a villain, but she also was kind of doing it like a fun villain, but she hasn't been fun enough.

Steve: No. Too much crying.

Sammi: Do you know what I'm saying? Like not, not Maria, you know,

Steve: Yeah.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Not Demi. Not Corinne. Like, it just wasn't the same flavor of villain.

Steve: No, she's not she's not tough.

Sammi: So...

Steve: She's not zany. She's just, like, exasperated by the bullshit, which that's not a fun villain.

Sammi: Yeah, i think she's i think she's just as squishy as Zoe is. And that and like to make them both the villains when they're like, you know, I don't know, very sensitive people.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: It's just kind of a weird thing to do. it just feels like you're kicking someone while they're down. I just...

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: Yeah, I don't know. They're better at the show um because they are able to like pull attention.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: But again, I still don't see anything in Carolina that's actually like the manipulative person that they're talking about. Sounds like she's just introverted and didn't realize that she'd be bad for the show.

Steve: who

Steve: Yeah, yeah.

Sammi: um And like all the women are like, yeah, well, we were all hanging out and you just stayed close up in your room. And I'm like, relatable, relatable.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: I don't know. That's what I would do. so like, i just, I don't really see the issue.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: i don't know.

Steve: Yeah, I'm not here to make friends, Sammy. Just saying.

Sammi: No, me neither.

Steve: that

Sammi: I'm here to eat snacks. You know, I'm not here to make friends.

Steve: Yeah, I'm here for the cheese boards and the naps by the pool and Parisa looking for killer spiders in the bushes.

Sammi: so

Sammi: Right. Like if I hung out with anybody, yeah, it would be like Parisa, it would be Chloe, but I don't like all that stuff. I just have a hard time in groups and I feel like being in a house like that would be really overwhelming and I'd have to find my little corners or I'd nap like Serafina or whatever, you know, like just do something to like disengage and be away from it all.

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Um, so I don't, I don't really, and if she got kind of like bad vibes from the women or like didn't get chummy with the women on the first night, which can be make or break. Like I understand, um,

Sammi: The desire to just like not even be out in all of it. So I just I don't know. I don't fault. I don't falter for it. I I still think the controversy is kind of silly.

Sammi: And they spent so an exorbitant amount of time on it. And then they didn't even and then they're like, well, we're going to reveal some truths. And I'm like, OK, can we actually talk about the clip and how things were misconstrued? But instead, we argue about it for 20 minutes before we ever get to it. And we do this like Snow White promotion before we ever get to it, too. It's just like, oh, my God, so annoying. Yeah.

Sammi: So um the only things I'm really going to say, let's see. Oh, um oh, I also mentioned, remember when I called Beverly the pretty one? Oh, my God. um Beverly's so gorgeous. Okay, anyway.

Sammi: um But she she talked a tiny bit. But we didn't even hear from, like, there's a lot of women I expected to hear something from. And I feel like we didn't hear from them at all.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: Like, well, Natalie, for like a second. There were a couple women who were like pretty standout in the beginning. And I just feel like. Either they weren't. Oh, and also, why didn't they bring back the VIP bottle girl?

Steve: ah she she chose She chose not to be included, maybe?

Sammi: Right? Crystal? Was it Crystal?

Steve: i'm not Maybe.

Sammi: Well, because, like, she could have come in, like, with sparklers and, like, we needed something to liven the show up. She she came in, like, so excited. I am happy, i will say, that we got the llama.

Steve: The llama?

Sammi: Yes. Yes.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: I really do like Linda.

Steve: llama was good

Sammi: That gimmick works. That works for me and I'm okay with it and I will lean into it. um And at what with that being said, I think we should start unboxing Jilly because it's very heavy.

Sammi: I think there's a lot of shit in it.

Steve: yeah let's get her done

Sammi: ah So, yeah. So, um yeah. Like, well, one another thing I would say is Serafina looked gorgeous on the show. and she And her, like, first statement um to me, I was like, wow, is she media trained? I feel like she gave, like, the perfect response. I don't know exactly what that was in response to.

Sammi: It was, like, um with all the... With all like the Zoe and Carolina stuff and whatever. And she was and she just like, I don't know. Did you notice that? I feel like Serafina trained to be on the women tell all or it's just naturally good at that. I don't know.

Steve: Yeah, she was she was very poised.

Sammi: As I'm unboxing.

Steve: Although, I don't know, if if I just went on a reality show...

Sammi: Oh, about the dress being short. That's what it was. Sorry. I forgot what it was. Keep going.

Steve: Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I think it'd be smart to hire a media coach knowing that after your pre-taped nightmare, you can kind of see in real time then how people reacted to the way you were, because I'm sure in the moment she didn't think about that.

Steve: So then she could basically... get coached up and be like, here are the things that people are going to completely fucking like poke me on and then react to it.

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: So if she didn't get a media coach, good for her for at least being self-aware enough to think about those things. But if she did also a smart move.

Sammi: Yeah. I mean, okay. So here's what I'm going to say about Serafina. Also, this box is beat up to shit. Look at It's like, so, so I'm just going to straight up tell you that there might be bugs in this box.

Steve: hmm. Oh, that's what I wanted.

Sammi: There might be bugs.

Steve: I asked for a live spider.

Sammi: Um, It's not a live spider, but there might be bugs in this box and I'm a little scared to open it and it is still taped. I have not opened it. I have not checked anything, but they are safe bugs.

Steve: Is.

Steve: Okay.

Sammi: So this is what I'll tell you.

Steve: Did Jilly give you an ant farm? Okay.

Sammi: No, Julie didn't give me it. That was Tuck's guess too. He's like, is it an ant farm? was like, no, these are not intentional bugs. These are accidental bugs.

Steve: Okay.

Sammi: So basically there was like a pillow that came in the boxes. Mine got delivered before they were able to intercept it and keep the pillow from being delivered. So there is a pillow in here and it attracts...

Sammi: I can't remember the name of the bug. It attracts a bug. It's a completely harmless bug. Like it doesn't bite.

Steve: Oh.

Sammi: It doesn't, you know, no dermatitis, nothing weird. Like it won't hurt you in any way, but they are attracted to these pillows because the pillows have like, like wheat fibers or, you know what i mean?

Sammi: Like some naturally occurring thing in it that they like to eat.

Steve: Oh. It's like a box elder bug or a bow weevil.

Sammi: It's not like a box holder, but i can't remember what it's called. But it it looks like it's like a little red bug, basically.

Steve: Yeah. Okay.

Sammi: And they're like, we found them in the warehouse. I buy like gravitated towards these pillows. And so we got rid of all the pillows.

Sammi: And but the ones that shipped out, we can't change that. So what we're going to do is if you did get it, we advise that you... throw it away. um and if you didn't get it, great.

Sammi: But they gave me a credit to spend in the store. So I'll also be showing you the things I got from the Jillybox store.

Steve: So we got Jilly credit. Exciting.

Sammi: Yeah, I already bought some stuff that came at the same time. Okay.

Steve: Big knife.

Sammi: So I'm gonna, yes, this is an EDC. Okay, everyone.

Steve: don't Don't show the internet. You'll get our video banned.

Sammi: Oh my gosh. It's not that big.

Sammi: I'm a little scared because I've never, I've never seen a box taped up like this. I should have done this before we started. um But,

Steve: is aggressively taped.

Sammi: Why don't you, while I'm doing this, what I wanted to say is the reason I thought Serafina, besides like, yeah, her response was very good. So whether she was media trained or she just had that like ready to go, I don't know what her background is.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: If she's like a writer or something, like, I don't know. I feel like she's, or like in PR, I don't know if she's good. um But her like, yes, that was totally inappropriate. And like, I didn't even know why I said that. And I'm so sorry. And we're actually good right now. So like, let's not dredge it back up.

Sammi: And then let's talk about, you can talk about, do this, her time, her time in the hot seat, because I want to know what you think about her time in the hot seat and, and what you think, what you think that was like that.

Steve: Steve, please monologue.

Sammi: I don't want to lead you anywhere, but, but talk about it.

Steve: i I don't know. i I didn't even see this. Of course, I get left with this, and I'm like, I didn't really have a huge reaction to her in the hot seat.

Sammi: Really? thought it was a bachelorette audition. You didn't think so?

Steve: I mean, anybody who's in the hot seat, it's your bachelorette audition. Is it not? Like...

Sammi: That's so true. But I feel like she got more emotional and more detailed than any of the women who were in the hot seat all night.

Steve: who

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: She was like, she put it all out there.

Steve: Well, cause

Sammi: I thought hers was like, she made the best case for herself. I was like, this is very, obviously you were auditioning for this.

Steve: yeah. For someone who was like, okay, You're like you were clearly well liked, but not well liked enough. Like she was very like that upper mid tier of contestants on Grant's season.

Sammi: Yes.

Steve: So she definitely did a good job of stating her case without being overly like, you know, oh, woe is me about the whole thing, ah which is good, which is good.

Steve: think. i think the disadvantage that she's at is it's, it's just the grant of it all, right? Like i I, because you don't get a lot from him and because it doesn't matter if in the grant power rankings, you are number 30 or number one, he's going to say the exact same thing to you.

Steve: i think it diminishes.

Sammi: Until you get to the second to last episode, I guess.

Steve: but Yeah. Right.

Sammi: Right?

Steve: It just, it just diminishes the value of everything else.

Sammi: Jesus, there's more tape.

Steve: Uh, how is this possible?

Sammi: Sorry. This is like what the way my grandpa used to tape. i don't know.

Steve: Just wrapping it completely.

Sammi: It's giving me memories. Yeah. And my grandma, yeah.

Steve: yeah I don't know, but it is interesting because that's kind of what Grant has been giving us. And maybe that's him being more guarded or being hyper aware that he's on television, but he's constantly like reassuring the girls that,

Steve: oh, you're good. You don't need to worry. Like I care about you, blah, blah, blah. Like there's no of that necessary honesty of like, hey, this this maybe isn't for you or we're not really gelling the way that we should, which I think is good.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: You know, sometimes people are like, oh i can't believe if the bachelor said that. It's like, no, it's probably better. Like, why would you lead these people along?

Sammi: Yeah. Don't be dishonest.

Steve: But then by the time you get to the end,

Sammi: Yeah. yeah

Steve: ah you're kind of stuck with a situation that is very interesting me where Finally, Grant starts to so show some emotion, but I don't even know if that emotion is an actual tell.

Steve: ah So despite my best predictions and me writing this prediction to the very end, the hot girl that he never talks to still makes the final three, which I think is in and of itself incredible.

Steve: We're in the middle of March madness right now.

Sammi: Yeah. Yep.

Steve: And, you know, the 16 seed team that nobody's talking about just made it to the NCAA finals, essentially. that That's the equivalent here.

Sammi: wow

Steve: ah she gets, I mean, she gets the worst date and then she gets cut unsurprisingly. But then to your point, because with all these other contestants, we never knew what they were getting. He says, I love you, which should be,

Sammi: yep

Steve: If we are following the bachelor rules and how the show has been edited and produced for the past 10,000 years or however long we've been doing the show, that's it. Lock it in.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: You like the only way that you can offset.

Sammi: That's the end.

Steve: And I love you is with another. I love you, which nullifies it and also creates controversy and chaos.

Sammi: More problems.

Steve: But he doesn't do that. And yet, I still find it after Zoe is eliminated. I am inclined to believe that the woman he said I love you to is not going to win.

Steve: Which...

Sammi: Hmm.

Steve: How?

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Yeah, I don't know. It's really interesting. I know that we're kind of getting into week eight, which I think is fine.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: I have a couple things to say first about Women Tell. I really don't have very much on either one of these episodes. i'm go to be honest. It's going mostly Jillybox. Well, we'll see.

Sammi: um Number one. Yeah, it was nice to see Alex back. Do you think Alex is kind of the KCB of this season? The ray of sunshine?

Steve: yeah i think i mean mate yeah pretty much she seems mm-hmm

Sammi: And drop cries at the drop of a hat. I don't know. felt a I was like, I feel like she's kind of like KCB anyway, but she has a llama, so it's better. um And she's French Canadian, so it's better.

Sammi: um And then, yeah, we get to see Hakeem in the audience. Oh, this is weird. I wrote in my notes, why haven't we heard a peep from Parisa? This was before Chubby Bunny, by the way.

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: That means I'm psychic because then they brought out peeps. Hello. um Can't believe that. um But yeah, Dina. OK, I wanted to say this about Dina. I thought it was really interesting that she was like, it was actually my choice not to invite my family because half were on board and half were not.

Sammi: I thought that was very interesting. I was kind of surprised. I don't know. I was half surprised to hear that. But it's like, that really can screw you up. But I think she also thought, like, if i we go to hometowns and half are in and half are out, that's going to be even worse.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: So to try to mitigate that, I'm going to do the less risky thing and just invite my friends. But I do think that was kind of the kiss of death because... I don't know. I thought i thought she had... I don't know if she would make it to the end, but I think she could have made it to the final three.

Sammi: So, over Zoe, you know.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: um But the thing is with Zoe, ah they have they have like similar backgrounds. I think that's really helped them connect despite... I mean, obviously, I don't anymore. But it's helped them connect despite not like having as much time together.

Sammi: so But I think it could have been that... ah Zoe went home after hometowns and Dina went to the fantasy suites had she well had she brought gone with her family. and Even if it didn't go well, maybe it would have been okay.

Sammi: I don't know. Anyway, ah that that kind of surprised me when she said that.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: um so I made a note of that. Also, ah what? Bailey and Grant don't like sauce? What the hell was that?

Steve: No.

Sammi: I was like, what are you talking about?

Steve: It's weird. Yeah, why is that like your thing you have in comedy?

Sammi: You don't like sauce?

Steve: You just eat dry shit? What do you do with your chicken tenders?

Sammi: I was like, what do you mean?

Steve: What do you...

Sammi: What? And okay. Sauce is a very, okay. I teach a food management class, right? And um food service management. And um in the first semester, we cover like the different things that you would put on a meal to make a meal complete.

Steve: yeah.

Sammi: Right.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: And one of those things is a sauce. We literally say you're, you there's like these seven circles and one of them is sauce. One of them is like crunchy, you know, one's protein, whatever.

Steve: me

Sammi: But one is like a sauce. And so we always have our students like they have to pick something, whether it's like a dressing or a dip or or, you know, like a sauce pouring, whatever. And so I'm like, how can you just that's such a large category.

Sammi: How can you just say you don't like sauce?

Steve: Well, and then it's like, what is the... Like, how deep does this go? Is it, i are we, are we just like surface level?

Sammi: Right.

Steve: Like, I don't like honey mustard for dipping my chicken tenders in. Okay. It's fine.

Sammi: That's wrong, but okay.

Steve: you You don't like ketchup. You don't like ketchup. You don't like ranch dressing. You don't like any dressings or salad dressing sauces.

Sammi: Yeah, and yeah, yeah.

Steve: Do you not like, what, what do you, you, you go and you get, do you, everything has sauce.

Sammi: Is it like a hollandaise thing? Is it marinara? Is it bechamel? Is it, what is it?

Steve: There's sauces at everything.

Sammi: That's what I'm saying. That's my point. I'm like, how can you just say you don't like sauce?

Steve: It's like saying, like, I personally, I don't like, like, thong-style sandals because they they irritate my little toes, okay?

Sammi: Mm-hmm.

Steve: Sensitive little toes.

Sammi: Okay.

Steve: But this would be like me saying, because of that, I don't like shoes. Ergo, I i don't like shoes at all.

Sammi: Right.

Steve: Which, that's, it's such a broad category. What don't you like? there Is it a flavor profile? Like, you can't just like or dislike just a thing broadly like that.

Sammi: Yeah, like, I don't know.

Steve: There has to be

Sammi: I would think like, yeah, like spicy sauces or like white sauces or tomato based sauces or something like that. But just to be like, sorry, I'm getting tea delivered. Thanks, dear. um But like saying i don't like sauces is like the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I mean, it's not the weirdest thing I've ever heard someone say because I did date a guy for a while who was like,

Sammi: I don't like eating. Like he was just like, I just don't really care. i don't really care about food. And I was like, you mean you don't care?

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: was like, this is not going to work long term. um But he was like, yeah, I don't care about food. And I was like, what? Is there any food you care about? He's like, I think pizza is nice. And I was like, OK. And he's like, but if I could just like drink Soylent every day, I'd be fine with that.

Sammi: i I wouldn't miss anything. And I'm like, I literally

Steve: Ew! That's just like paste!

Sammi: don't I'm like, I can't relate to you. Like, i don't know how it it's like, yeah, like I've heard people say things like I don't like music. I don't like food.

Sammi: And I'm like, those are ginormous categories that you are not picking anything in between. It's just very strange. Anyway, that was very upsetting to me. Let's open Jillybox item.

Steve: Let's do it. I want to see what's in this thing.

Sammi: OK, this is this is not the pillow full of bugs. this is a This is like a...

Steve: I want bug pillow. Show me the bug pillow.

Sammi: Sorry. so great this is like theres like a honk shoe shirt. I bought it.

Steve: Okay.

Sammi: It's like a honk shoe long sleeve shirt. It's like a nightgown. I was really excited to get it. It actually smells like probably the pillow. um She told me...

Steve: Bugs. Smells like bugs.

Sammi: No, she told... No, it smells lavender. She told me to wash everything. obviously I mean, I would anyway, but...

Steve: Hmm.

Sammi: I also... got a book, a journal. It's called The Human Being Journal.

Steve: Oh, courtesy Jilly.

Sammi: Yeah, Mahara for the Jillybox.

Steve: Wow.

Sammi: Respect or reflect monthly, live mindfully. It's dedicated to all human beings. Listen, I love to journal. I journal daily. Listen, it's very exciting.

Sammi: Ooh, you said a commitment. You do a word for the year. Good thing I already do some of these things. Maybe I'll save it for next year. My current state of mind, my bucket list. Oh my gosh. And then you have, yeah, you have vision goals. This is kind of like one of the journals I already have and have used. So yeah, I might save this for next year. oh and it's got multiple ribbons. I love when a journal has multiple ribbons.

Sammi: I hate it when it's there's only one and there's like two pages I want to go on. Drives me bonkers. So, but it is undated. So you can start at any time you want. You don't have to wait until the beginning of the year.

Steve: anytime

Sammi: Look at the white balance going, not knowing what to do with that.

Steve: Not knowing what to do at all.

Sammi: It's like, oh, Sammy's very pale, but yeah.

Steve: It's okay. The book is the same. if If you hold the book up to the camera, then ah the white balance, it it won't know if it's my face or the book cover.

Sammi: Yeah, it's your face, obviously. like um

Steve: Pastiest man in the game.

Sammi: That's kind of fun. ah Let's see. Is this the bug thing? No, and another one that is not bugs. Ooh, it's a cast iron. Ooh, it's really cute.

Sammi: It's a heart statue. true I hurt you, Jilly. You're missing it. What are you doing?

Steve: I'm sorry.

Sammi: Pay attention.

Steve: I'm trying to pay attention. This is bad podcast etiquette, but um I'm sorry.

Sammi: Yeah, what are you doing?

Steve: my My sister is getting married soon and she just sent me one of the longest texts I've ever seen. And I needed to clarify if it was, this is a bad thing or this is a good thing.

Steve: And it's neither.

Sammi: oh

Steve: It's neutral. It's like, here's a bunch of directions. and I'm like,

Sammi: Oh, no, I get it. You were like, is this a crisis? Do I need to address this now?

Steve: yeah, because like you see those texts that come through and you're like yeah,

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: this this guy This is cute. this is very it's It's an aesthetic heart.

Steve: We love an aesthetic card.

Sammi: It's made of cast iron. It's cute. I'll put it on my mantle.

Steve: Also good, like, if somebody breaks into your home, you could definitely bludgeon them to death with that.

Sammi: Yeah, it does. Yeah. Sorry, I said cast iron. It's cast aluminum.

Steve: Castle, okay. That's that's less less of a good bludgeoning weapon, but it's still something.

Sammi: Yeah. it's But it's quite heavy still. um Sorry about that. I said that wrong. um But it's very nice. I actually think I will put it on my mantle because our mantle is like very bare this time of year. It will be a good Valentine's Day thing to put out, which I am trying to put out like things for each holiday because I'm and that kind of loser. So it's fine.

Sammi: I love a theme. i just love I just love it. I got sad because I was like, we have our you know string lights still out. And I was like, I didn't put any lights up for St. Patrick's Day. Like I would ever do that.

Sammi: but i'm like But I'm like, yeah, obviously.

Steve: Your leprechaun lights? What are you...

Sammi: Well, I do have Lucky Charm nails.

Steve: Okay.

Sammi: Did I show you those on the podcast?

Steve: Oh, yeah. well is that That was the last episode.

Sammi: Okay, I thought I did. Yeah, well, tomorrow I'm getting new ones. Sorry, I gotta wait for the new ones.

Steve: Well, that was going to my next question. like I feel like it's been a few weeks. What's the what's next on the list?

Sammi: It's only been two weeks. It's only been two weeks. Let's calm down. um But tomorrow, well, what um what do what should i do Tell me. i don't have a design idea. So if there's something you think I should get, think about it. Let it marinate.

Sammi: We'll get back to that.

Steve: While we are in Easter season, have you considered the Stations of the Cross?

Sammi: That took me out.

Steve: i was I was trying to see if I could break you with that one.

Sammi: Yeah, now I'm going to get coughing fit.

Steve: Just in like absolute like perfect detail on your.

Sammi: Oh, my gosh. Yeah. um

Steve: Something to think about.

Sammi: I will say, so I don't know if I've talked about, why would I have talked about this on the podcast? Maybe I did. I've talked about it on TikTok before. I'm not like a, you know, church goer anymore. um

Steve: hmm.

Sammi: But my absolute favorite church service every year was Good Friday. I lived for Good Friday.

Steve: That's a banger.

Sammi: I was like the theater, the drama, everything. So like I went to a ah like a pretty progressive like Lutheran church growing up.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: And it was like the most Catholic we ever got. You know what I mean? And they would be like, you know, it's like each verse, each line, each word he said, you know, each sentence or whatever, they would dim one section of the lights, you know, and then all of a sudden all the lights would be out and the acolyte would take the candle and exit out.

Sammi: And then my pastor would close the giant Bible on the altar like it was the earthquake. And I'd brace for it every time.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: and i he did it every time when I wasn't expecting It always scared the shit out of me.

Steve: That is supremely Catholic of you for a Lutheran.

Sammi: And then everybody's and everybody's like everybody like files out and it's always like moody in the air. Like the air is always moody, you know, and you're like, oh, what's going to happen?

Steve: Mm-hmm. Oh, it's a big deal. I mean, Christmas is one thing, but for the Catholics, who Easter.

Sammi: ah

Steve: And again, it's, it's the drama of the whole thing.

Sammi: Yeah, it's so theatrical.

Steve: Fellas, you ever walk in your girls just hitting you with the, with the palms. Cause she loves you so much. And then a week later, you know, she, she's like, Hey, do you want to, do you want to die? Or should we kill this Barabbas guy? And they choose Barabbas to go free over you.

Steve: Come on. It's the worst. Yeah.

Sammi: I mean, it isn't exactly a week.

Steve: the opposite of a glow up five days but still like yeah how how do you go from palm waving to to just we like barabbas more in that short of a time frame come on yeah we should we should

Sammi: It's like it's like five days. but Because in a week, then other you know things happen. so

Sammi: did you I think we should retell Bible stories Twitter. Tell us, let us know, email us at popculturediner gmail.com if we should have a special episode where we retell Bible stories based on what we remember.

Steve: listen

Sammi: We will not refresh in any way, shape or form. And some of it will probably be veggie tales.

Steve: No.

Steve: Listen.

Sammi: Okay. At least from me. But no, Good Friday was always like literally my favorite service. I looked forward to it every year. i just loved it. I just love drama. i don't know.

Sammi: That's why I love reality TV. So that brings us back to The Bachelor.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: um So, yeah. Oh, I was going to say also, Serafina's mom is so cute. And I do feel like we got robbed of her mom for Hometowns because she was adorable. And she's like, I like this show.

Sammi: And maybe she'll be on The Golden Bachelor. I don't know.

Steve: I hope so. That'd be nice.

Sammi: ah She was really sweet. Yeah, I think I thought she was really cool. um Let's see. Yeah. So, OK. Yeah, we get the one Parisa moment, but it's not even a moment. Then they did. I thought they were going to do like a lie detector test.

Sammi: And then they were like, it's a magic mirror. And I was like this. And then they were like, who's the sleepiest one of them all? And I was like, I hate this so much.

Steve: Oh, that sucked. That was just like, I hate the tie-ins with the Disney shit.

Sammi: Yeah, it was so boring.

Steve: Like, it's just, it's horrible.

Sammi: Yeah, and they're like, who's the messiest one of all? and then they're like, who's the cleanest one of all? i'm like, this is boring. Who is the boringest one of all? i'm Me. I'm boring. I'm bored. um But yeah, so then they finally get to the part where they're like, let's do the reveal.

Sammi: What actually happened? And then it was like the same clip that we saw on social media, obviously.

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: And then it was just like, Rose was like, well, it was a misunderstanding, i guess. And Grant's like, it was a misunderstanding. And Carolina's like, I'm sick of everyone getting up on me, so I'm not gonna say anything.

Sammi: And that was it. But I will say during the bloopers at the end, I feel like they got in more accidents than anybody, but it wasn't a dramatic season. So they didn't, there were no flashing lights that accompanied all the accidents, but I feel like they had way more head injuries on this, up on this season than ever. Don't you feel like that? I was like, everybody's like falling and running into stuff and hitting their head on shit.

Sammi: was like, it is everybody okay? Like, it just felt like more than usual. I don't know.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: I was like, yikes, this is really not good.

Steve: I did like how in the last episode I think it's the first time that because Bachelor loves some ziplining let me tell you I think this is the first time in Bachelor history where someone ziplined so much she was just like I'm literally going to throw up i why do you keep making me zipline

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Yeah. It's yeah. Well, she was also nervous. Okay. This is the pillow so far. no bugs. um Should we keep it? Should we get rid of it? I don't know.

Steve: keep it

Sammi: So this is the, this is the pillow. Well, she said, get rid of it. It's a cotton, hot and cold therapy pillow. Cause what if it attracts bugs later?

Steve: Oh, that's true. it probably That's what it would probably do is you you take it out and then it's just Bug City.

Sammi: Yeah, I don't see any bugs or nothing. But yeah, it's it's really potent too.

Steve: Yet.

Sammi: I actually don't like lavender at all. um And this thing smells like straight up like lavender. So ah that would be one reason I wouldn't keep it.

Sammi: Yeah, it's literally made 99% whole grain, 1% lavender. Bug city. Bug city. Yeah, i I do not like lavender. Mom, if you're listening, you probably know why I don't like lavender. Yeah.

Sammi: But I'll tell this story for everybody else. So when I was a kid, there there was ah a squirrel that got stuck in our our like water pipe at our house.

Steve: Jesus.

Sammi: And so it was like being boiled alive or whatever. and it would also So it became like unsafe to be in our house too because it was like cutting off.

Steve: she's

Sammi: I don't know. Mom, correct me if I'm wrong. This could be a memory that I'm remembering wrong. But I know that it got stuck there. and it and Like the water spout or whatever. You know, whatever. Um, and, uh, and I know it was like, could make the air dangerous in the house or whatever. So we had to like leave.

Sammi: Um, but I think it was when we came back, it kind of smelled a little squirrely. So my mom sprayed, my mom sprayed like lavender spray all over the house.

Steve: Curly.

Sammi: And now I just associate lavender with like dead squirrels. So just don't like lavender and Tuck doesn't like it.

Steve: Nice.

Sammi: Cause it like, I think he's allergic to it.

Steve: Yeah, I don't, it's it's not my favorite.

Sammi: Because his hands will like act up when he touches it.

Steve: It just smells like grandma to me. I can't, it's not my favorite.

Sammi: Yeah, it's not my thing. So honestly, I'm glad that that was the thing that um I got a credit for it because I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. So I got 65 Canadian for that.

Steve: Really?

Sammi: This is an expensive bug pillow. So what I ended up getting were these beautiful earrings. Hopefully they will focus.

Steve: hmm.

Sammi: They're very sparkly. i don't know. I can't fully, ah can't fully influencer them.

Steve: Ooh, ah.

Sammi: um They're really sparkly. They're like, they look like stars. They're called lover's tempo. And then I got another one of those lighters because I freaking love this lighter. Tuck hates it. I love it. But there' it's for me. So it doesn't matter.

Sammi: um But it's a rechargeable electric lighter.

Steve: Mm hmm. Oh, yeah.

Sammi: i showed that on the podcast last time I got one, right?

Steve: oh yeah

Sammi: It's just like, yeah, it's just like this. It's really handy and I love it. And they last a really long time. So i was like I'm going to get a second one for upstairs for my my candles up here.

Sammi: So that I have one for candles downstairs, one for candles upstairs. And it's very exciting. So, all right, let's talk about Fantasy Suites.

Steve: Let's talk about it. Speaking of talking, one person who got a fantasy suite, that's all they did.

Sammi: Oh my gosh. Hey, it worked out for her. Oh, this is cute. Oh, this is called Tuck, but it's with a K.

Steve: oh not as good.

Sammi: Tuck for the Jilly Bucks. This is actually really cute. it's ah It's like a cozy blanket.

Steve: To go with your pillow full of bugs.

Sammi: Yeah, but there's no bugs on this either. um yeah it's really cozy. I actually really like it. um I love blankets. I'm obsessed with blankets. I could never have too many of them.

Sammi: And I actually don't have that many. So this is nice. I'm going to put this on our bed. Yeah, that's super cozy.

Steve: that's good I like a good blanket I don't have many either and the ones I do have I feel like I've just sort of like accumulated because I never want to spend money on a blanket even though I like them I just have like Samsung branded blankets and shit that I've gotten for free

Sammi: I have kind of like a weird one on my bed right now.

Sammi: Yes, I feel the same way.

Sammi: Yeah, I have I have like um one from an old like accounting alliance that my old firm was part of. I actually really like that one, too. But I don't know if to the dogs play with that more than I do. They might snuggle with it. No.

Sammi: That one was fun because it had a little zipper enclosure, too, where you could like, i don't know, put some treats in there. i don't know what the hell. um But this is nice because it's neutral. And like the but the blanket I've been using, like when it's cold at night on top of my comforter is like my old sorority blanket.

Steve: like it.

Sammi: It's like kind of dorky. So this is nice. It's a little classier. It's classy.

Steve: ah like it

Sammi: Classy Disney. um But anyway, so I literally took like no notes for this because I was like on route and like listening and watching and um in my car and whatever. In this episode, I was being safe. Don't worry. Hands free.

Sammi: Hands free listening um and watching um in the parking lot. So I i made i made it do. I was like waiting in between my like session to talk today. And I was like, OK, I can catch like 20 minutes right now and then I'll catch another 20 minutes when I get home and then I'll be done.

Sammi: um But OK, how weird is it Was this on purpose? The first. OK, so we have. Now I'm trying to remember if I remember this correctly, we have Juliana.

Sammi: She meets with Daisy. Wasn't Daisy second. Second place.

Steve: Yeah, yeah.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: she was So yeah, that's that's what made it kind of weird, I think.

Sammi: And then Zoe meets with Rachel. Rachel was third.

Steve: who So no, yeah.

Sammi: Right? Right?

Steve: Yeah, pretty much.

Sammi: Am I wrong? And then Latia meets with Katie.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: And Katie was first. Coincidence?

Steve: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Coincidence?

Steve: Mm-hmm. Perhaps, or maybe intentionally just to mess with you.

Sammi: I was like, well, as I was watching, I'm like, is this his ranking in his head? One, two, three. Is this how it is? um I thought that was so strange. As soon as I, I was like, if I was feeling uneasy and they brought me a runner up, I'd be like,

Sammi: ah Like, and listen, I like Daisy. I like Rachel a lot. Okay. But I'd be like, I'm not feeling so confident now. Like, they could have brought out, like, Kelsey and Daisy.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: I mean, sorry, Kelsey and Katie and, like, Charity. or so You know what i mean? Like, they could have brought out, like, a bachelorette and some winners.

Steve: Yeah, yeah.

Sammi: But instead, they're like, here's first, second, and third place.

Steve: Oh, no. First thing I thought that we're going to align with you guys.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: Yeah. Yeah.

Sammi: with the way that Grant is clearly feeling about them by the end of the episode. Right. So like, yeah, I think at the beginning I was like, I think Juliana is going to win the whole thing. I really was like, it's, for it's Juliana's, it's Juliana's game to lose.

Steve: Mm hmm.

Sammi: Um,

Steve: Well, because I mean, if you look at and I'm and I'm not saying that Juliana's great shakes here. Sorry, Juliana. I know you're listening. ah But there's nothing about her where you you watch her with Grant you go, oh, like this is meant to be.

Steve: You know what i mean?

Sammi: I don't feel like with any of the women, I have that feeling, which is which is why it makes sense that he also feels that way.

Steve: It's. No, no, not at all.

Steve: Oh, yeah, because it's like Juliana has simply endured and and was positioned in a way that that helps her float to the top.

Sammi: You're confused. I'm confused. Yeah.

Steve: And so your choices are Juliana or it's I have to become a Mormon or get engaged to a really hot girl that I've only talked to for five minutes. So it's like, and then Juliana's in the middle and you and he's like, ah, she's pretty hot and she's not Mormon.

Sammi: Yeah. It's like...

Steve: So, and I've, and I've talked to her a few more times.

Sammi: Yeah, I mean, like, that's the thing.

Steve: um

Sammi: I think with Juliana, um there's that physical connection that they have.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: And they've definitely made more of an emotional connection. I do think he fit in so seamlessly with her family. It was like so easy.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: um So I think that's kind of a no brainer. was like, I'm a tough guy, but actually I'm a softy and I think you're cute. You know, it was like very sweet. Everybody like it I was like, I can see this. It makes sense.

Sammi: He's also talked about wanting to live out east. So it's just kind of like everything i think logistically lines up.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: I thought the only thing left would to be to make sure that they were like emotionally intimate with one another. They seem to be happy about that. So I'm just kind of like, i don't know. This seems like kind of easy.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: This is the easy road that I feel like you'd be pretty happy with her. So I don't know from what I'm seeing on TV, you know.

Steve: Yeah. I mean, it's, I don't know. It's just, it's, that's the whole thing with this season, right? It's like, Grant's not great.

Sammi: Yeah.

Steve: And the final three are like, okay, there's there's no one that I really want to root for. i just like, I want to root for a reset button so I can just get a more interesting season. And we're not going to get that.

Sammi: Yeah, it's just, yeah, there's just something about it that's, oh sorry, you were going to, it seemed like you were about launch into something.

Steve: Oh, I was going to say the the one good thing is because of all the producer shakeups that have occurred. i I think that like the the bachelor is normally like you are on a very short leash with that show.

Steve: And suddenly things are getting a little bit out of control, including ah grants. Social media has, he has not been following standard bachelor etiquette.

Sammi: What? No?

Steve: No. So without spoiling too much, it seems as though he's he's made a few key mistakes.

Sammi: Tell me.

Steve: One is He was just like in the comment section of other posts, like talking about things that are like actively going on in the show, which no, no, no, we don't do that, Grant.

Sammi: Really?

Steve: And then, and this is the big snafu, he posted a picture of someone on his Instagram story and then immediately took it down, but not before her some people screenshotted it.

Sammi: Whoa.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: Oh my God.

Steve: a

Sammi: ah

Steve: yeah

Sammi: i don't want to know. i don't want to know. But you know, oh my gosh.

Steve: Oh, I know. I know. And I wasn't even looking for it.

Sammi: Oh my gosh. That's, oh, okay. Should I Google it? No, no, no. I'm not going to Google it. So, so is he going to get in trouble for that? Yeah.

Steve: ah No.

Sammi: Probably not. That's the thing. they I mean, even with like this whole misunderstanding. that Well, I don't know. I don't think he said anything wrong either. I don't know. Do you think anyone's going to hold a speech to the fire for this whole? I love I love her. But now I love somebody else.

Sammi: And I told her I love her before i made the decision. And now I feel like I'm stuck. Do you think that's going to be an issue next week?

Steve: Yeah. I think that, yeah well, in in the real world, but there's are we talking real world are we talking puritanical bachelor land?

Steve: The fact of the matter is,

Sammi: Both. Tell me both. Yeah.

Steve: I think if if you are dating multiple people, if you are not in a you know monogamous monogamous singular committed relationship, you could conceivably ah love or feel feelings of love for multiple individual people.

Steve: That's perfectly normal.

Sammi: Sure. Yeah, that is perfectly normal.

Steve: It's fine. Perfectly fine. People encounter this all the time, all the time. But in the world of The Bachelor, there can be only one. It's like the fucking Highlander.

Steve: And also because of the rules about how you're supposed to say things about how it goes from... You know, I think I'm, you know, starting to fall for you to I'm falling in love with you till I'm in love with you till I love you like all that.

Steve: There's this logical progression, this march that you have to follow these signposts so that the audience and their expectations are met. And again, with the producers gone and Grant needing more producing than any bachelor in recent history,

Steve: Uh, it's not great. It's not good. So I have a feeling that he will not pick the woman that he said, I love you too. And that there will be a meltdown and that maybe, maybe the internet's already melting down. It's hard to say.

Sammi: Wow. Oh, my gosh. I've missed so much, but I'm going to remain ignorant because ignorance is bliss. That's what they say. um I'm blissful because I got some new socks. and But have you noticed that the theme is cozy?

Sammi: Have you noticed that the the theme is cozy for this jelly box?

Steve: who

Sammi: We've got a honk shoe, sleep, sleep gown.

Steve: Yeah.

Steve: You're going to be snug as a bed bug.

Sammi: I'm so excited. Except there's no bugs in this box. Thank goodness.

Steve: That you found yet.

Sammi: um So far, so far, so good. um Oh, by the way, was secrets on your shortlist when you went to the Dominican Republic?

Steve: ah No, it was not because it's probably like it's probably like ten thousand dollars a night.

Sammi: How much is that place?

Steve: Like.

Sammi: Yeah, that's for Dick. Yeah.

Steve: Yeah, no, any anywhere that I have been in Mexico or the Dominican Republic or anywhere else, I guarantee wherever The Bachelor is, that's about five to ten times outside of my price range.

Sammi: I was like, I was like, ooh, yeah.

Steve: So.

Sammi: Sometimes, though, I feel like they put them in like kind of crummy places. So not not no offense to you and your tastes or like kind of mid places.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: You know what i mean?

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: And then they pretend to be excited. You know, they're like, we're at the Radisson in in Bemidji.

Steve: The Burbank Holiday Inn!

Sammi: And you're like and you're like.

Steve: Did you know there's a bar on the 18th floor?

Sammi: Yeah, it's very much giving airport hojos. You know what I mean?

Steve: yeah Oh, totally.

Sammi: Which like, yeah look like to them, it's genuinely exciting. um But no, that hotel looked nice. I was just like, they prominently displayed the name. So i was like, oh, was that was that when you looked at?

Sammi: um But yeah, so I just I just didn't have a lot of notes for this whole episode in general, outside of the fact that like, um ah Yeah, I feel like all the dates went well. I think it was pretty obvious. Like they usually put the one that's like probably on the chopping block in the middle. That's usually what they do and for fantasy suites, right?

Sammi: So Zoe's in the middle. And I was like, yeah, I think this is Zoe's last week. And then they did like this yoga date, which like no comment. Well, I could comment plenty, but I won't. um And they like weren't supposed to talk and they literally can't follow rules.

Steve: Which is, yeah, they can't follow the rules.

Sammi: It like wasn't that hard.

Steve: But yeah, it's like, what's again, what's a terrible date? Can't talk to each other. We barely know each other.

Sammi: Right.

Steve: Can't talk.

Sammi: But it's like they could have turned it into something like sometimes when they do those dates, they're like, we felt this very intense physical connection. I've never felt so connected. But it's like they weren't even like integrating into the the moment.

Sammi: They were just like, this is so silly and weird.

Steve: Yeah. Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Oh, my God. You know, and so then it just didn't work.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: And it's like, yeah, I think they probably could yuck it up together. But I just don't see the like chemistry with them, so the way that he has with like Juliana or Latia.

Sammi: So I was not surprised. that things went in that direction. But I was surprised when we got to Latia's date that he said, I love you. i was like kind of thrown off by that. I was like, and, and this is my only theory. If this is who he doesn't end up with, if he ends up with Juliana, which I would guess is going to be what happens.

Sammi: Um, I feel like this is a theory. The only reason he said, I love you is because he couldn't be physically intimate with her. And he wanted another way to show her that he was like very interested.

Steve: yeah is he that smart yeah no yeah

Sammi: No, I don't. Well, maybe I don't know. That's just what it i don't think. I think if he was smart, he wouldn't have done You know what I mean? So I think it was not a smart decision.

Sammi: But I think he was like, well, I got to say this to, you know, because if we're just going to talk all night, I have to say it.

Steve: mm-hmm

Sammi: But it's like you could have also said it inside the fantasy suites, which plenty of people have done.

Steve: Yeah, and and this is a really good point that I think, like, not enough people talk about this, but we we often talk about how on this show, or really in real life, oftentimes we say, you know, this guy is just thinking with his dick. How many times have we heard that, right?

Sammi: Yeah, yeah.

Steve: ah Consider, though, the other side of that coin, which is he's not thinking with his dick, but he's thinking with his, like, anxious brain. And this happens a lot, a lot on The Bachelor where men or women are driven by anxious calculus because they know there's things that they're supposed to do they're not supposed to do.

Steve: They know that they're supposed to, you know, get to certain points with certain people. And so they feel like they have to do that. So I don't know if Grant is an anxious calculus kind of guy, but we have seen these on The Bachelor numerous times.

Sammi: Yeah, I could definitely see that being the case.

Steve: Oh, and it's it's even better on Bachelor in Paradise because normally it's like we just get to see like he is executed and we have just seen like the end of the calculation. But usually in Bachelor in Paradise, you get to see like the whole equation to the very end.

Sammi: Yeah. Yeah.

Steve: And it's disastrous almost always.

Sammi: Yeah, it's usually pretty bad. Yeah, I mean, i just feel like, yeah, I feel like he was like, okay, like, what can I do in this situation to make her feel comfortable? And I don't know.

Sammi: i don't know. It just felt like a Hail Mary pass to me a little bit. That's not how it read to me.

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: um But again, like, there are plenty of contestants who have said, we actually said these things inside the fantasy suite, we didn't say them on camera.

Steve: who

Sammi: And, and like, I kind of knew that like, things were gonna go well, because we talked about it in the fantasy suite. It's not always like that. And sometimes it will go the other way. Obviously, you know, we've seen that happen, like Nick Vile getting upset um about Andy or whatever.

Steve: yeah

Sammi: um But like we it's like most of the time, it's like I feel like they're not totally blindsided. Like it makes me think of, um you know, Joey's season where Daisy's like, I know that it's not me.

Sammi: Like I know. Yeah. You know, it's like you should probably know by that point. If if the bachelor is like a stand up guy like Joey, you should know by that point. Like, yeah, I don't.

Steve: No.

Sammi: um And so then they get to ride in the car in the car together. And that's nice. um I got this. This is so soft. This is a makeup remover. It's a reusable makeup remover.

Steve: Reusable?

Sammi: It's so nice. Yeah, I actually.

Steve: It looks like an oven mitt. Could you use it for that too?

Sammi: is i wouldn't. I think it's too thin for that.

Steve: Just completely incinerate your hand. Yeah.

Sammi: It's too thin, but it's like, you know, it's like that like velour, you know, type of a feel. It's like a juicy couture or no, not like, well, yeah, kind of a little, a little longer.

Steve: yeah I would use it as an oven mitt if I lived in New York and didn't actually use my oven unless I was storing clothes in it.

Sammi: Yeah, it would be very acute of a minute like that, but I actually used to have one of these and I don't know what happened to it, but I used to use it all the time. So I'm like, there we go. um But it says it replaces approximately three years worth of disposable makeup remover products.

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Amazing. Way to go, Jilly. Well done. um Of course, I will report back and let you know what I've used and what I haven't used. There's still a couple more things in there.

Sammi: This is jam-packed Jilly box that took forever to get here and was taped to absolute shit. It must have gotten like really messed up in transit, and that's why it got on hold for so long, and then someone taped it to death.

Sammi: don't even know. Um, okay. This is, oh, okay. think there's two more things I got. This is not a Stanley. It's like a fake Stanley.

Steve: It's a groich. What the hell's a groich?

Sammi: It's a groish. Every cup fills another, ah lead free.

Steve: Oh, you got a Stanley?

Sammi: That's good.

Steve: I got a groich.

Sammi: Yeah. Well, it's like this is my favorite color. um When you buy a Grosh product, you're funding 50 plus days of safe drinking water for someone in need.

Steve: Grooch.

Sammi: And it's a certified B Corp. And it's dishwasher safe. Oh, I love that. I feel like none of these are dishwasher safe. I might actually use this. I don't have that many water bottles. I'm not a person who brings a water bottle with me everywhere either, but I am the kind of person who leaves like bottles at home where I'm sitting, but I don't bring them to class.

Sammi: I've just never done that. Um, cause I just don't think I'm ever going to become, i don't know. I'm going to dehydrate to the degree that I have to have one with me everywhere in class. feels like a security budget.

Steve: no and you got to have ice in it you got to like shake it kind of loud

Sammi: Yeah, I will never become a Stanley girl, but I will promise you if a swig happens anywhere near me, I'll bring that grosh with me and I'll put it in there because it seems like seems like a swig type of a like a receptacle.

Steve: I love that.

Sammi: Well, I feel like I would ask you your predictions, but I feel like you already know too many things.

Steve: i Yeah, you can't ask me my predictions.

Sammi: So.

Steve: My prediction is that we still going win so that I'm right.

Sammi: my god

Sammi: Oh, there you go

Steve: That would be ideal, I feel.

Sammi: like that idea. I like that idea. Okay. There wasn't really anything left in there except for um a coupon for a radiant serum. um But let's, let's see.

Sammi: I was kind of, I was kind of looking forward to a little snack. That's the only thing i don't like about this particular Julie box.

Steve: o

Sammi: Cause feel like she's really good at ah providing little cute snacks that I like. We like the same kind of snacks. So I'm a little sad that there's no snack in here, but that's okay.

Sammi: Maybe that would have brought about more bugs. No, I had not seen a single bug. She did give me a recipe for...

Steve: It's a little Canadian candy bar to attract some more bugs.

Sammi: yeah yeah Yeah, exactly.

Steve: The ants from the ant farm.

Sammi: um She did give a recipe for birdie bars in here um that look really good. They're just like oats and hemp and chia. It's like a bunch of seeds and shit because it's for birds, I guess. It's for the birds.

Sammi: um It's a seedy oat bar. Looks good. I will eat it. I will make it. um But yeah, this was all... The theme of this was really... Let's see what she says the theme is before I just...

Sammi: make assumptions. um Let's see. Well, she says over the past few years, I've been on a wellness journey that has slowly brought me back to my yoga mat, inspired me to eat healthier and reminded me just how important it is to prioritize myself. Yes, Jelly.

Sammi: That's exactly the energy I wanted to infuse into the spring 2025 Jelly Box. The season's box is your gentle nudge to create new routines and embrace self-care without the pressure to do too much all at once.

Steve: Ooh.

Sammi: Literally, this box is made for me. Okay. we We talked about this in class today. My friend came in and gave a talk about self-care. Think of it as an invitation to do

Steve: Self-care, but Sammy, I'm so good at self-destruction.

Sammi: I know, but you have to engage in self-care.

Steve: Where's that box?

Sammi: um You have to do what feels good for you, and what better time to start than spring. Don't you agree for me? Spring always feels like the perfect season to shake things up and try something new, even if it's in the smallest ways, whether it's slipping into something cozy, pampering your skin with a little TLC, or finding moments to practice mindfulness.

Sammi: Every item in this box was curated to help you feel good inside and out. Yeah, it's just a cozy box. I love that. It's so cozy.

Steve: It is nice. Just don't use that thing as an oven mitt.

Sammi: I won't use that thing as an oven mitt. I'm just looking to see if there's any any other things um that are worth...

Steve: I see the look in your eyes right now. And most people think that you're reading the Jilly ah papers, the game.

Sammi: I am.

Steve: ah But what she's actually doing is running the calculations in her head of if she can bake banana bread and use the makeup remover as an oven mitt.

Sammi: You're acting like I don't own oven mitts. Have you met me?

Steve: No, you do. You do. You have ah an expansive collection and Velour is one that you've never gotten before. So now is the time.

Sammi: I just got a new one, which is really exciting from A Secret Santa. So it replaced one of my old ones. um I have blue cue ones. um So they're all sassy. You know, I had one that said, I have a knife.

Steve: Oh.

Sammi: So that's anyway. Exhibit A.

Steve: Stop getting us banned from TikTok.

Sammi: I'm not getting us banned from anywhere. that's This is not going to make it to TikTok. This part's not going to make to This is just for our YouTube besties.

Steve: No. Only the edit for the TikTok is just you holding a knife and saying the word knife. And then me going, not a knife!

Sammi: And then they're like, strike, ban, you're done.

Steve: Yeah. Then smash cut to me being like, self-destruction, self-care!

Sammi: Okay, but

Sammi: but someone can literally...

Steve: Yeah, that's true.

Sammi: Okay, let's talk about this. Because someone can literally go on TikTok and film a hoarder house and there's a whole skeleton in there.

Steve: yes yeah

Steve: yeah that's

Sammi: And i can't I can't use a knife the way it's supposed to be used. I called someone adult and I got a warning.

Steve: Ooh.

Sammi: I called someone adult and I got a warning.

Steve: What? You warning? so Dold is like so... That's such a Sesame Street ass like 1992 comment to make. comment to make

Sammi: Yeah, I called someone adult and I got a strike. There was another thing that I got like a warning for as well. It was something really similar to that where I was just kind of like this person, this is like loser behavior or something like that.

Sammi: And they're like, no, you can't say that. I'm like, are you kidding me? I can't say adult and like loser. but But this guy can go, here's this house that I went to. And oh, there's a like a person who used to live be alive and they are not alive anymore.

Steve: Yeah, and now they're not.

Sammi: and And that's fine. Okay. Like, that's ridiculous. Did you see that video? I saw it. I was shocked it had not been taken down.

Steve: No, I have not seen that video.

Sammi: I saw like... Several people I follow on TikTok were like, have you seen that video? And I was like, it's got to be down by now because this was like eight hours ago. So definitely should be down by now.

Sammi: and I looked and it was still up. And it was from like three days ago. and I was like, how is this video still up? It probably is still up. And I'm like, but I can't i can't tell, you know, ah fascist that they're adult.

Steve: man No, you can't.

Sammi: Okay, whatever.

Steve: It's illegal.

Sammi: I was like, this shocking. um Also, the socks are cute. They have little hearts on them. I didn't even notice them.

Steve: Oh.

Sammi: um So that's extra cute. There's a couple things I didn't get from the Jillybox that I will ah mention. Like how fast I shipped a gear. I was like so mad. And I'm like, anyway, this stuff is cute.

Sammi: um There's, yeah, like a lip and cheek thing. Did that come in there? Or did it fall out of the box? I didn't get a lip and cheek thing.

Sammi: Jilly...

Sammi: I don't know if that was an extra thing or not. I'll have to see. um There might have been a lip and cheek ah like cream. I don't know if that was a bonus or not. I can't remember.

Sammi: um I'll have to see. um Because that one did not come in the box at all. I'm just looking through everything. Classic face clap. You know, it says, it this is interesting. So it says, all right, the fabric is so soft that Annie keeps taking mine and using it as a binky.

Sammi: It's that good. But Steve, no matter what you think, make sure that you don't use it as an oven mitt. Wow.

Steve: Does it really say?

Sammi: really

Steve: is that is Is that a serious sentence?

Sammi: Wow, I'm so good at acting. Thank you.

Steve: Damn it!

Sammi: Did you really believe that?

Steve: I wanted it to be true so bad.

Sammi: I know.

Steve: You ever want something to be true so bad that it just...

Sammi: So bad.

Steve: And then it's not.

Sammi: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All the time. um There was a deodorant. ah I don't know if that was a bonus either. And a bronzing serum. I think that was a bonus. There was like this super belly thing that I didn't get.

Sammi: And there was a yoga mat. I did not get because I have like four or five yoga mats. um I mean, I could always use another one. This is a pink one, but I didn't get it. um And then there was like a sheet mask. I don't think i I didn't get that either.

Sammi: So I do think there were a lot of bonuses in this one, but I couldn't tell you what actually was standard um because there was a giant hole in my box that they then taped up.

Steve: Oh.

Sammi: So I'm a little worried that I was supposed to get something and it fell out. So I'm going to have to message Jilly about that as well. Um, make sure it's right.

Sammi: But I'm really happy that all this stuff came. And then like that sleep thing was the extra thing that I ordered. Um, but yeah, so pretty interesting stuff.

Sammi: I don't have anything else to say. I, I, I'm just cause, cause we can't predict together. Yeah.

Steve: No, we can't predict together. So like ah my prediction is completely, it's, it's off. I'm just going to say again, let's go back to the oven mitt acting that you just did Meryl Streep.

Sammi: Thank you. I'm very good at acting.

Steve: And I just want to say my prediction, because I want it to be true, even though I know in my heart, it's not Zoe comes back.

Sammi: Yeah.

Sammi: Mm hmm.

Steve: She rides in on a helicopter. He's like, Hey, and, and, or no, she's like, Hey, and he's like, wait, who are you? And she's like, Zoe, remember? And he goes, Oh yeah. And then they get married.

Sammi: Okay, I like that idea. Yeah, so the one thing that um was supposed to come in was the Cheekbone Beauty Courage Cream le and great ah cla cream Lip and Cream. That's literally what it says.

Sammi: um Everything else was an add-on that I didn't get. So, Jilly, we got to talk. I got to look more carefully through my shit. It might have fallen out. um Yeah, my prediction is that Chloe comes back and...

Sammi: And she fires a t-shirt cannon. She fires the t-shirt cannon in ah and retaliation of... of um wait was it Wait, who was it who had the t-shirt cannon in the first place?

Sammi: Was it Alex? Who was it? No, it wasn't Alex. She had the llama.

Steve: No.

Sammi: Who had the t-shirt cannon?

Steve: was it' It wasn't Zoe, was it?

Sammi: it wasn't Was it Zoe?

Steve: Yeah.

Sammi: It was, wasn't it?

Steve: Mm-hmm.

Sammi: Okay.

Steve: Which is another...

Sammi: Yeah, okay. That's what I was going to say. And then I questioned myself. And I was like, was she the one that had the t-shirt cannon? Yeah. Okay, yeah. So that was feels like a million years ago, but it really wasn't that long ago.

Sammi: So this is what's going happen is Chloe's going to come on the show and she's going to borrow the t-shirt cannon from Zoe and she's going to fire at at all everybody just as revenge for for Zoe, standing up for Zoe. That's what's going to happen.

Sammi: And then they're going to die like Maude Flanders.

Steve: I love that. That's really good.

Sammi: That's what's going to happen. um All right, everybody. ah That's all I have to say.

Steve: Wad Flanders.

Sammi: Sorry. What a weird ah episode. ah Blame the Sudafed. and um But take care of yourselves. For real, there's like way too much weird shit going around. um so So stay healthy. Just like don't even hang out with anybody. Be like Carolina and stay in your room.

Steve: Yeah. And that's not an oven mitt. Don't do needle drugs. It's not an oven mitt.

Sammi: I love that you thought Jilly addressed you specifically.

Steve: I mean, not me specifically, but it's just like, hey, did you think that was an oven mitt?

Sammi: i did use the I did say Steve specifically.

Steve: Maybe. Yeah, that's true. I figured you added in the Steve for a little bit of flavor, but I was hoping the oven mitt was real.

Sammi: Okay. That makes more sense. I was confused.

Steve: Yeah. What do you think? Am I the ultimate himbo now? Come on. No, I need muscles for that. Shit. I'm just dumb.
