Introduction to Wild Card Wednesday

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Daily Manchester United. It is Wild Card Wednesday and what better way to spend a Wednesday than eyes glued on the transfer market and transfer market in January.
00:00:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been quiet but things are starting to bubbling

New Signings: Aiden Haven & Chiyo Obi Martin

00:00:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
up. I'm here, Kieran McGinley, alongside Daniel Dada to try and sift through what could be happening and what definitely isn't happening.
00:00:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Dan, welcome along.
00:00:32
ontheballpod_
and
00:00:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
How are you?
00:00:34
ontheballpod_
I'm good, I'm good. Obviously some positive news today, sir. Yeah, I'm good.
00:00:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, let's start with that positive news then, Dan. Take it away.
00:00:41
ontheballpod_
Yeah, two signings today from what I can see on Fabrizio's page. We got here, he goes for Aiden Haven from Arsenal, young centre back. I think he's 18, we played against him in pre-season. Obviously it wasn't the best showing for him because he kind of got, you know, run ragged by a hoiling that day, but he looks like a decent talent. He's left footed, he can play left side, he can play left back as well, so he quite a burst of talent. I also remember watching him in the Arsenal documentary with ah Jack Walsh not too long ago when he used to play in midfield.
00:01:10
ontheballpod_
So he's quite good on the ball, good in tight spaces, can play through the lines, everything kind of needing a modern day centre back. He's also early 18, I think he's like six foot two at 18. So, you know, he can still grow.
00:01:22
ontheballpod_
Like they say, I think men start growing at 21. So who knows? He can still grow to six foot three, six foot four. But yeah, looks decent.
00:01:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
He could do. Yeah, he's not too far or six foot three, actually. A hundred and eighty nine centimetres, if you're that way inclined. So that is about six foot three, just shy.
00:01:37
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:01:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm still taller than him. So thank goodness I've got that going for me, which is nice.
00:01:40
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:01:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, something to have over someone nine years my junior. But yes, also, well, he joins us ah with Chiyo Obi Martin joining us earlier on in October.
00:01:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's two Arsenal youngsters we sort of ah poached away.
00:01:52
ontheballpod_
yeah
00:01:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
to to be part of the united youngster side of it um but also we've had in the last hour or so maybe even the last half an hour a player you've really kept your eye on a wide player you've kept your eye on there Dan
00:02:07
ontheballpod_
but
00:02:10
ontheballpod_
Yeah, because the most glaring problems in our club right now is the left-wing backhand. I've been pretty fond of Patrick Bourdieu. I'm an avid FM player, so I've known about him for probably about a year and a half. So from when you bring somebody into your club and you kind of want to see, oh, how are they in real life? If they're performing like this for me in FM, are they performing as good in real life?
00:02:32
ontheballpod_
I've watched a few of his games and he he's playing in a struggle in Leeside, but he always seems to you know just be that stand-up player and that struggle inside, especially you know nesad is seen in lot of goals. To be a stand-up player as a left-wing, ma it's it's not it's not easy, but um yeah, he looks like a quality sign, and I'm apparently happy we got it through. I don't know why it took us all the way to what was today, January 28th, to get the...

Patrick Bourdieu's Potential as Left-Wing Back

00:02:52
ontheballpod_
But I can't question it, we've got it now, and that's that that's that's it that's the positive news and that in that regard.
00:02:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, it's been given a favorite Tiramano here we go says Dan so that it's as good as it's as good as true that isn't it that it's that it's got over the line but no official we should say and caveat it at the time no official club word on it because we don't want to be caught out the one time it it doesn't happen is the one time
00:03:06
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:03:13
ontheballpod_
Yes.
00:03:17
ontheballpod_
like that
00:03:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
that that we get caught out there but yeah I mean you you've spoken about Patrick Dorgou before about how you're you're quite excited for him to to head along to the club I mean a good but winger in fact from from Leche there and yeah it has played on the right hand side of the attack but has ventured into that left wing back roll as you were saying and this seems like not only would it provide a bit of competition for Dalek but also hopefully give us a little bit of
00:03:39
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:03:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
well a little bit of attacking prowess in that role.
00:03:48
ontheballpod_
Yeah, definitely. I think that's... If you watched our last few games, I think that's where we struggled. We've struggled to attack through that left side, especially the left wing back side. When Mazuri played on the left side, it's been pretty poor. he's not too He's not the best. He's not the greatest going forward. He's not going to bomb down the line. That's not his game, really. And that lot, obviously, being a right foot on the left side, he's not always looked as comfortable as con towards how he looks on the right side. So having somebody that's left-footed and can play on that left side and he's comfortable playing on that left side, it's it's always going to be perfect. i ah he I think he fits everything that may unite in me right now. He's athletic, he's strong, he's fast, he likes to get forward. So yeah, I think this this is the perfect sign for that position.
00:04:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, current Danish international with four caps and one goal. 20 years old is Patrick Dorgue and only recently turned 20 as well. So a very promising player for the future.
00:04:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
And the fact that he's, you know, ah in quite a depth in a couple of positions already is only going to help us in sort of that versatility role that we have been caught up by injuries in the past and to have a player that can play left, back and right wing.
00:04:47
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:04:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's quite an odd Versatile range to have but you know what I'm i'm all for it if it works
00:04:56
ontheballpod_
Yeah, I think, like you said, it's it's very good to have versatile players.

Manchester United's Transfer Challenges

00:05:00
ontheballpod_
In this wingback system, obviously, I think that's why I probably am really wanting to bring him in. He can play on the right side of it and he can play on the left side of it. So is there injuries if there is injuries on the right side, he can slot in there. And if there is injuries on and you know if his stronger side left um the left side, if he's a starter, whether he's a backup for somebody, at least we have that um quality in depth on that left side. so um Yeah, I think I'm i'm very happy with the sign. And honestly, I've been talking about this guy for about a couple of weeks in the group. um When I first saw we were interested in him, I told you guys, yeah, I think he's going to be a good sign. And so hopefully he lives up to it and he proves me right.
00:05:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, look, you put Leniura in your top 10 French players and you hadn't played a game yet. You're clearly seeing stuff. You're playing 4D chess here, Dan, and I'm all here for it.
00:05:39
ontheballpod_
ah pepper
00:05:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm going to trust you and say this is going to be a good sign. But yeah, in terms of arrivals that are confirmed or as good as confirmed in this case, it's been quiet.
00:05:51
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:05:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think a lot of this window has been really reliant on selling Rashford because I think That Rashford sale, if it goes through in January, because there's a lot of teams interested now. We're talking lots of clubs in Italy. Gattasra have joined the race as well to sign Marcus Rashford. I think I saw AS Monaco were interested in Marcus Rashford as well. I think it's a case of maybe this money for Rashford is waiting to actually hit the account and and for the sale to go through before we can actually really delve into the market. And I'm not familiar with the signing fee of Patrick Dorgou. I'm not sure how much we're going to pay for him.
00:06:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I know it's it's not going to be cheap.
00:06:25
ontheballpod_
Uh, I think the, um, the reported feel, I think for Ritzio said, I think it's around 30 million euros with, um, 5 million, um, add-ons not guaranteed though.
00:06:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
OK.
00:06:37
ontheballpod_
So it's not, it's not like it's a, you know, five mil for playing five games type of thing. So this is, I think it's a pretty decent price to get a young full back, you know, one of the touted good full backs in the, in the world right now.
00:06:47
ontheballpod_
So I think that's a good price to get him as probably around that what, 25 mil in, in pounds.
00:06:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:06:51
ontheballpod_
So yeah, I think that's a, I think that's a good price for him.
00:06:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's about 26 and a half if my conversion work.
00:06:56
ontheballpod_
And.
00:06:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Conversion works as well as it should. Probably doesn't. And it probably fluctuates by the time we get this episode out.
00:07:04
ontheballpod_
fifty
00:07:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Either way, though, you're right. You know, 30 million euros for a young fullback who's got potential is a pretty good price. And the the the other thing as well is that we have been struggling as a club, as a collective, is we give these young players and we bring them in for extortionate fees through no fault of the player.
00:07:11
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:07:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I feel like, you know, in the past, we've had a united tax, if you want to call it that.
00:07:26
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:07:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've overpaid for players. We're all happy to admit that.
00:07:30
ontheballpod_
yeah
00:07:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's nice to see that we've, you know, not exactly gone over the top, but this is clearly a signing we wanted to get over the line.
00:07:31
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:07:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
And maybe it took this long because we wanted to try and chip away. His transfer value, according to transfer, is 20 million euros. So if we're signing in for 30, it's not a huge overpay, 150 percent of his value, which to be fair, for for that range,
00:07:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why not? Why not take a stab at it?
00:07:55
ontheballpod_
understandably yeah I think you're right in that terms of um man you always having to overpay for people I feel like that you're right there is that menu text that other teams might get a deal whereas this menu coming is that ah yeah cool let's see if we can try and hit a lake or Manchester United and I think that's how other clubs kind of see us and I think you know with the new um board coming in and they they've been a bit more savvy in the transfer market working on deals making sure We're not getting bullied and lack in these transfer deals. are Even with Xerxes, I think he had a um release clause in his to for his transfer. But we somehow worked it out to where it wasn't. We didn't pay the full price of the release clause. So that I'm seeing different things that I wasn't seeing before in the past where we're doing tactical business here.
00:08:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah. Oh, absolutely. And yeah i'm I'm really looking forward to it. Really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I'm really looking forward to our next two parts, of course, of the Wildcard Wednesday transfer window. We'll come back to that after this.

all these clicks and whatnot from both ends here trying to furiously try and find the tab we set up for the next part of the podcast but football gossip from today really only one thing to report on and that is Manchester United this is according to the Athletic Manchester United may make a lone move for Chelsea and France forward Christopher Nkuku if Marcus Rashford leaves the club talk about a transfer rumour out of left field here Dan wasn't expecting that one
00:09:36
ontheballpod_
Thank you. Obviously, I've seen that they've been interested in Garnet Show, so if that was kind of what I was thinking, I could call maybe as a thing where, you know, they're trying to get Garnet Show and try to slip off in Cuckoo to us, I don't know. I'm not sure if that's their thought process, if that's maybe they're trying to get a cheaper deal for Garnet Show by giving us in Cuckoo in that type of deal as well.
00:10:19
ontheballpod_
Well, I'm not too sure myself. I think Nkuki's a very good player, to be fair. But when he was at Leipzig, I liked him a lot. I wanted him at United at that point when he was at Leipzig as well. And then when he just goes to Chelsea, I just think that things haven't always been right for me. He has had a few injury problems. you know I think last season he'd missed a lot of football. And this season he just hasn't really you know fit into the system because I think his best but his best positions are probably know just behind the strike instead of having to play that out and out number nine because that's not really his game. as game is not really you know hold up a friend that like His game is getting on the board making and things happen and I think unfortunately he has to play with Cole Palmer and Cole Palmer he's probably the best in that position right now. so He can't really get in the team in that position at number nine. Nicholas Jackson might not be the everyone's cup of tea, but he's been doing a job as often. and He's got probably over 10 goals in the Premier League, so he's doing the job of a striker right now. So there's not really a space for him in the team right now.
00:11:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and that sort of shows, as you're saying, with the stats from the Premier League so far this season. He's played in 19 matches for Chelsea in the Premier League. He's only started three of them and combined with all of the 19 starts, that's 419 minutes play, which is maths if you're willing to work it out.
00:11:24
ontheballpod_
OK.
00:11:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it's not a lot of minutes every single time. He's he's been subbed in 16 times in in those times.
00:11:34
ontheballpod_
yeah
00:11:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's got two goals, one assist in the league,
00:11:39
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:11:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
But you look at the League Cup, you know, he's played in, and he's played and started two games in the League Cup, scored three goals with three shots on target. And Conference League, I really think, is where he's really been able to allow to be shined, because Cole Palmer is obviously not in that Chelsea Conference League squad.
00:11:55
ontheballpod_
no Yeah.
00:11:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
He started five and played in five, of course, scored five goals, three assists. Now, you could argue Chelsea are probably favourites to win the Conference League, and if they don't, we'll all be questioning why.
00:12:06
ontheballpod_
Yeah. chief
00:12:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I mean, it's It's showing here that if you give him the chances, he will pay you back. It's just a case of, is he going to be is this move going to revive him?
00:12:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Will that work for us in the short term and maybe Chelsea in the long term? I don't really know. Or is this a case of Chelsea doing their sort of loan market ways of trying to drive up value in the hopes that they'll be able to sell in Cuckoo later down the line?
00:12:30
ontheballpod_
yeah
00:12:33
ontheballpod_
Yeah, I think it meant you

Marcus Rashford's Future at United

00:12:35
ontheballpod_
were to do anything. I think it should be probably a loan with an option to buy, rather than an obligation to buy or just a straight up loan. I think that we should have that option where, you know, we probably work a deal where it's not too much. It's not too crazy. The price range isn't too crazy. And we don't have to be obligated to buy them. I think that's the best option for Manchester United. That is the case. That is somewhere they're looking at. That is somebody they're looking at. I think that's probably the best option.
00:12:58
ontheballpod_
I'm a very big fan of him, to be fair. Like you said, when given the opportunity, he has showed that he can perform and he has that ability. I think at Leipzig, we see this quality at Leipzig, he scored magnitudes of the goal, play of the year before he went to Chelsea in the Bundesliga, scoring hat-tricks against Man City in the Champions League. He is a quality player at the end of the day. I just think he hasn't really been given the minutes at Chelsea.
00:13:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah, absolutely right and again according to the athletic that is going to hinge on if marcus rashford leaves the club here's one reported by the the mirror is that rashford is willing to wait to secure a move to barcelona now i have heard that barcelona are also looking into uh wingers in the premier league already uh looking to see what they can you know bolster their attack in the latter half of this season but marcus rashford to barcelona
00:13:46
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:13:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, I don't really know what to say, to be honest.
00:13:54
ontheballpod_
I mean, I think my standpoint of Rashford is that it's all it's best for both parties. If he leaves, it's best for both parties. I think it's best that he found somewhere new and I think it's best for ah best for many to move on from Rashford. I think we've got to that point where.
00:14:07
ontheballpod_
it's It's too far. Go on with Rashford. We've had the same problems for many, many, many years. as far One season, we're thinking, Rashford's the best footballer in the world. And the next season, it's like, oh my God, is this the same Rashford we saw last season? So it's like, I think for him, it's best that he probably find somewhere new. I'm not too sure about the situation and what's really going on behind closed doors. I but i but i don't quite get it. Obviously, I get that they're trying to sell him, but um I don't understand it. Can he not still play football? I don't get it. so is that
00:14:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well.
00:14:36
ontheballpod_
boston In regards to Barcelona, I think that would be a good sign for them to be fair. I think they do need that, you know, bolster and attack. Right now they have a very good attack with Rifenio Lewandowski in your mouth, but if they could add somebody that lack a rash for these, can come off the bench or even start a few games for them, who's we who we've seen has probably even against Barcelona, we've seen it. He absolutely played his socks off at New Camp two seasons ago, so they know the ability that he has.
00:15:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I mean, it's a case of what's going on behind closed doors. Well, I mean, if you saw the the comments in the last sort of 24 hours in the yeah in the wake of the Fulham win, that this is I'm reading this off of Sky Sports is that Amorim says he'd rather put the goalkeeper coach Jorghe Vital ahead of anybody doesn't play or train well.
00:15:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, he said in that in that press conference, it's all about, you know, putting in the effort in the training ground. And this is paraphrasing at this point, putting in the effort on the training ground and those who don't won't earn a spot in the side.
00:15:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he's been pretty consistent about that.
00:15:37
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:15:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And what he said is anybody doesn't play well, I would rather put my goalkeeping coach on the bench rather than anybody who didn't train well.
00:15:45
ontheballpod_
yeah but yeah but no definitely i i agree with you but i was watching um
00:15:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, people have aimed that towards Rashford and even the press try to aim it towards Rashford and um obviously Amrim trying to be the diplomat saying, well, no, that's the case for all players. But you get that feeling that, as you say, this is the probably the end of the road for Ashford. At least at Manchester United, not just in general, just Manchester United. Oh, I've got away with that one. oh
00:16:11
ontheballpod_
the overlap I think earlier today and um David Ornstein was on the overlap and he was saying that um there was some interest from Premier League teams for Astra but his decision was mainly to just go over go ah go up abroad and he also said that both sides know that there there is there is that opportunity where they might have to come back together so we're getting to the last stages ah of the um of the window what was 28th of January today um
00:16:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm.
00:16:35
ontheballpod_
The fact that we've we've been talking about selling this guy way before January, and we're all the way at the 20th of January. I don't know what's the really the situation, what's going on. Maybe if it's a thing where United feel like they haven't got the right deal, or Rashad Fuzi ain't got the right right deal. i I don't know.
00:16:48
ontheballpod_
so
00:16:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah it's one of those isn't it i just wonder what is going to happen uh well the transfer deadline day uh is fast approaching for english and scottish clubs obviously open on january 1st but it will close on february the 3rd because of course midnight happens on saturday which we don't like apparently, fax machines and whatnot and things that keep David De Gea at the club for longer than he should against Real Madrid.
00:17:06
ontheballpod_
Okay.
00:17:13
ontheballpod_
but
00:17:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Yes the transfer window closes on the 3rd of February so ah we shall see what happens there. Still plenty of rumours and what not to talk about but we'll talk about that after this quick message.
00:17:35

Transfer Targets: Aitnori, Gittens & Goalkeepers

00:18:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
to be quick fire as you head to the end of our Wild Card Wednesday. But I'm reading all of these off of transfermarkt.co.uk. Fairly reliable, but it relies mainly on other sources and what it feeds into.
00:18:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
So take some of these with a pinch of salt.
00:18:13
ontheballpod_
Right.
00:18:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously, we've talked about Patrick Dorgue. He's one of the top of the lists. One name that's come up at left wing back as well. Ryan Aitnori from Wolves, 23 years old. I mean, his name has come up on on this podcast before, as someone maybe we're looking to keep one eye on.
00:18:30
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:18:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But again, would be a a solid option at that left back role.
00:18:35
ontheballpod_
I think, yeah, I think we need as much depth as we can and get that role because we're having to play right footed fullbacks on the left side, you know, Mazurian dialogue, because we don't have footed left best, but it's not neutral. Honestly, yeah when it comes to neutral, we don't know when he's going to play football, we don't know when he's going to come back. So it it ah as much as he's world-class when he plays, its it's just about what he does play. So I think, yeah, we need to get as much depth and quality in that position as possible.
00:19:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and I just wonder if that's the case, ah what will all this market value be? Apparently it's 35 million euros. So again, you put 150% on that. You're looking at about 70 million roughly.
00:19:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah No, that's that's double. That's 200%. Now you're looking at about 50 odd million for him there.
00:19:16
ontheballpod_
Yeah. Yeah.
00:19:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
again one to to keep an eye on. Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund is a name that's also come up and in the Champions League this season seven appearances and four goals for a winger who can play on both sides right footed England and Barbados second nationality.
00:19:32
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:19:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Dan what have you made of him so far and is it a realistic signing?
00:19:41
ontheballpod_
I don't think it's realistic. However, if it was to happen, boy, that guy, he's he's he's good. However, I don't know if it's it's best suited to the system because I think he's more of like a pure winger. The reason why I don't think it's it's always looked as good for Garnaccio and as well as Rashford in the system, because I think they're pure wingers. They need space in behind them. They need the ball with space. I think this kind of player is behind the strikers. They're kind of more people that can work in tight spaces, those Bruno type of players, those warts, you know, music guys that are like technical and can work. So I'm not too sure if it's the best fit and as well as I'm not sure if it's even feasible for Man United as well.
00:20:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, one that could. Well, let's see if this is feasible. I'm going to throw another name at you, Dan. Brian Amboomo is linked with Manchester United.
00:20:26
ontheballpod_
Again, I think he's a good player.
00:20:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'll tell you what though, 14 goals in the Premier League so far this season.
00:20:31
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:20:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's not actually too bad. I mean, this was reported on the 15th of January by RMC Sport, who said that Arsenal United and Tottenham are looking at Brentford's Brian Amboomo.
00:20:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, yeah, again, not actually a ah bad thing. I do think we need an outand- out-and-out striker because I think that is something we're lacking.
00:20:51
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:20:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're lacking with goals up front and Abomo, even if it's for a short-term solution, might actually be not actually ah the worst shout in the world, to be honest.
00:20:54
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:21:01
ontheballpod_
Yeah. literally Literally that. He's been a he's a been a very sort of payoff a lot over the last couple of seasons and then people don't really talk about him maybe it's because He plays for Brentford, but I'm not sure, but is is he does this quite consistently every season. He's got 14 goals already this season. He had a quite good season last year. Even when he was playing with Tony, he was having a good season. that just I think people don't really talk about it because he's a Brentford player, but I think he's a very good player. and He's still young as well. I think he's about 25. It's not like he's he's on the older spectrum. I think he's he's still pretty young.
00:21:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he's been a solid player over the last couple of seasons.
00:21:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and in terms of goalkeepers as well, goalkeeping is a bit of a so sore subject for Manchester United in in recent years, but apparently talksport reported on the 15th of January.
00:21:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
So this is a while ago now, but this is this is what we're talking about, about lack of news coming in is that Zion Suzuki, Parma keeper is linked with the side and he's been linked ah for about a couple of years now.
00:21:48
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:22:00
ontheballpod_
Yeah, I remember last year.
00:22:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
But now he's rated. Yeah, and now he's rated at 40 million pounds.
00:22:05
ontheballpod_
We missed the boat, unfortunately. I think last year we were interested in him, and we couldn't guarantee him playing first team football, obviously bringing him an honor and buying that he was just always going to be like a cupkeeper or just, you know, just behind. And he he made the right decision for himself. of he and He knew that he would get more minutes going going somewhere else, and that's that's kind of what he's done. And he's he's proved to be one of the best short stoppers in the world, as well as having very good ball-playing abilities. And now he's he's up to the transfer market, always 14-0. I think we could have got him for life.
00:22:34
ontheballpod_
Less than 10, but back when we were interested in him, so yeah.
00:22:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it is what it is, isn't it? That's the way it's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Dan, I just want to ask you ah one more question, in fact.
00:22:46
ontheballpod_
level
00:22:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I'm going to slightly put you on the spot here, so I'm going to apologize. It's sort of a two-part question. Where do you think in this side needs the most improvement? And who do you who would be at the top of your wish list for that position?
00:23:00
ontheballpod_
um i think we need a uh i guess you can call it a 10 i don't i don't really know i this system's still kind of confusing to me but i guess you could call it a 10 just someone behind the strike up and i think the best player that's sued is Mateus Konyar at walls i think he's already knows how to play in the system he's played this type he plays in the system at walls and i think he's not i've seen that he's not too happy at walls i think he wants to leave he hasn't signed his new contract that there was he was rumored to sign so i think that that is probably
00:23:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:23:29
ontheballpod_
the best sign in for Manchester United.
00:23:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, 10 goals in 22 appearances so far this season. yeah and Not a bad shout at all when it comes to the Premier League. Yeah, again, not too bad at all. I think if I were to flip it, yeah we really, we've got five first team centre backs at this club and we're playing a three centre back system.
00:23:47
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:23:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Surely we need more depth in that centre half role. Someone who I've kept my eye on for years now is Gonzalo Ignacio from Sporting. I think he's a tremendous centre back.
00:24:03
ontheballpod_
Yeah.
00:24:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
you know, he yes, he would be playing for sporting. Yes, he would be one of those brought in. He knows Amorim style. And I know we we don't want to turn ourselves into another club 2.0. But I genuinely think in ASIO is just as such would be such a good signing. I think he's solid in the air. He's very good at filling in that centre back role. And again, he's just been on my watch list and I'm just keeping an eye on him for years now.
00:24:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hoping one day someone from this club will be like actually yeah, that's a good idea.
00:24:30
ontheballpod_
No, I agree with you.
00:24:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's get yeah Me too me too
00:24:36
ontheballpod_
That's a great shot. I agree with you. I think he's a very good center back. Just like you said, I've had an eye on him, obviously, due to FM reasons, I've seen he's a very good center back on FM.
00:24:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:24:48
ontheballpod_
So I do like to kind of keep up with, when I see someone you know quite high up on the one-nicked rankings on FM, I kind of like to see what they're doing in the real life. So yeah. And he has that, like you said, he has that relation with sporting. and Amran.

Paul Pogba's Instagram Tease

00:25:00
ontheballpod_
One thing I did see yesterday, though, was Paul Pogba. Three minutes to come back to Manchester United.
00:25:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Pogbaak.
00:25:10
ontheballpod_
He posted a picture on his Instagram of him and Ahmad. It was like an animated picture of him and Ahmad. And then the next picture was him staring out um the window saying, um just wait to see what happens next.
00:25:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know how I feel about that. Pogbaak. It would complete the trilogy of Pogbaak, wouldn't it? It really, really would. I don't know. ah i've got to Let's leave that on a cliffhanger for Paul Pogbaak, possibly returning to the club.
00:25:36
