um And we are again today, is our series is going to be on the fear of the Lord removes envy of sinners. So let us go to Proverbs 23 verse 17. So Proverbs 23, 17 says, do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day, for surely there is a hereafter and your hope will not be cut off. So, um boy, do we have a lot of sinners or a lot of things going on around us, right? um I think one of my biggest struggles, this is going to be me being very open and honest. um I struggle when people who are unsaved or people who

um are living in sin or living in bad decisions, I struggle with jealousy when they are having when they have you know boyfriends, girlfriends, they're married. um I struggle with that because I'm like, what am I doing wrong? you know I know I'm a sinner. I know there are sins that I'm still working on and struggling and getting through. But what am I doing wrong? like Why is it that they get to have all these cool things that I don't get? you know um

And we have to think about that. We we shouldn't be envying them. like They might have a really great life here on this earth.
Critique of Modern Living Philosophy

you know Joel Osteen, we like to make fun of him here on this podcast, but he's one of his favorite lines is, um you know ah best life now or living my best life or something like that. And so I'll randomly make jokes about that. I probably need to cut that out. But um we're not supposed to be living our best lives now for Christians, right? The best life comes living with God. Right now we're living not the best life, right?

Yeah, we're we're just living another another like we we're we're living in a way to earn honor and glory for God, but this isn't the best. you know we We go through struggles, we go through difficulties, we go through frustrations, and this isn't the best. But for sinners, this is the best it gets. right They're doing it for eternity and health. um Now again, that's I'm not trying to paint a picture where you know they're all going to hell and we shouldn't share the gospel or anything like that. I'm not trying to say that in the slightest. What I'm saying is, if they don't choose Christ as their Savior, they are going to hell. And they're even in their sin and even in in their struggle with sin, they're making choices that are not going to be good for them and are going to be destructive for them in the future.

jealous of them. don't Don't look at them or envy them or say, I want what they have because their life is not going well. So don't envy them. um And then it says, but be zealous for the fear of the Lord all day. I love the word zealous. Zealous is like a ultimate passion. Like, let's go. Like, let's break through down walls. Let's be strong. Let's be courage courageous. It's like pump up. that That word just should get you excited. Be zealous for things. Being zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day long.

And I think you say be zealous for the Lord and we can do that in a moment. And then you say all day. no Yeah, like kind of take some wind out of your sails, maybe a little bit, but no, we're, we can do it. Like we can be zealous for the Lord all the day. Um, for surely there's a hereafter, you know, there is something better coming after, right? We are, we have a hope of heaven. We have the hope that that we will be with God forever. And our hope's not gonna get cut off. If we truly put our faith in God, if we truly believe in Him, if we truly call Him as our Lord and Savior, our hope's not gonna come up empty. It's gonna come up with cups overrunning and running full and living out the best life with the best life in God. um So,

I think we need to just live with with more in light of that. you know We can easily live with our head down and plow through today. you know I have so many days left here at camp and I can just you know check out and or just put it in neutral and not hustle or put on this stuff. But you know God needs us to be zealous for Him every day, to be passionate about it, to say, this is the thing, let's go. and get other people excited to bring people along. That's what we're about. um And because there is a hereafter, there's a heaven coming, there are rewards, there are glories and kingdoms and palaces and mansions that are waiting for us in heaven and we can go get them and we can get them and earn them by the way we live our lives now.

um So hopefully this has been encouraging, this challenging, you know, maybe get your heart going, get you ready to go out there and be zealous for the Lord. Go share the gospel with somebody. People need stuff. People have needs. Go push, give a need to somebody. Go fulfill a need for somebody. Even something small. It doesn't have to anything crazy. Just go fill a need. Go be there for somebody. um Go live it. Live out. Live what? live out your faith. You know, stop hiding behind a bushel. Stop worrying about what people think. Stop worrying about it. They'll say, oh no, I don't want that. You're the worst. I'm not friends with you anymore. Forget about it. They have needs. They need Jesus. Share Him Jesus. Share Him how Jesus feels that need. um So yeah, go go

go rocket today hopefully hopefully our cabin leaders are doing that as well as our weeks go on and we're going to be training them and getting them ready and um but at the end of the day they they still have to do it they have to follow through on it so be praying for them be praying for their hearts that they will continue to grow and follow you or follow the Lord all all the days their lives that they would be zealous for him all the day um and not envied the sin or you know the other stuff that's going on in the world So let's close in prayer and then we'll send you on your

way. Jesus, we thank you so much. We thank you for this day. We're thankful for each one who's listening, or we just pray to help us to not envy the sinners, not envy those who seem to be prospering or seem to be doing well, that we would focus on serving you, being zealous for you every day, all day. Lord, that there for there's heaven coming. And Lord, as miserable and frustrating as ministry can be, as just living in the world can be,

There is a heaven coming and there is hope that's not going to be cut off. We're thankful for your promise of of heaven. We're thankful for your promise of giving us what we need. Well, we just pray that you would provide for our needs today, provide for our staff, or that you help them to be on fire for the Lord. Not only this summer, but this summer would just be the start of the spark or the reinvigorating of the spark, Lord, that they would carry it into their their colleges, they would carry into their workplaces, that they would carry it to wherever you sent them, their mission fields, whatever it is that you're sending them back to as they wrap up this summer, Lord, that you would help them to live zealously for you. Not to be ah envious of sin, not to go and follow sinners or what the what the people who are sinning are doing, but to follow you and to choose you all the days of your life. Help them to be wise in their discernment.

Well, we just pray as we've made it through 13 parts. We pray for the last couple parts. We just pray that you would be they'd be on and glorifying to you that they would build up the church and that they would bring some to know you as their savior through this whole lesson.
