Pregnancy Fatigue vs. Newborn Exhaustion
00:00:12
Speaker
I have a question for you. Pregnancy tired or newborn and tired? Ooh, this or that? Yeah. Um, newborn tired. Okay, that's what I think, too. I saw a thing today, and I know this was probably like clickbait, but it said, when you are pregnant, you exert...
00:00:31
Speaker
2.2 times more metabolic energy than someone running a marathon for nine months. And what did they say about like newborn tired? I've been pregnant now four times.
00:00:42
Speaker
Never ran a marathon, so I can't compare. But a marathon looks brutal. Yeah, absolutely. it didn't It didn't say anything. It didn't say anything. oh yeah, i forgot about that. Such a badass.
00:00:53
Speaker
um It didn't say anything about newborn tired, but I feel like newborn tired, even though you're recovering, your body isn't, like, working to create life.
00:01:04
Speaker
Yeah. And so it's not as tired. I don't know. I am just – I'm asking you because I'm 25 weeks, and I am so tired. You're less tired
Moving Challenges During Pregnancy
00:01:13
Speaker
with a newborn, though, because – I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on this, but my opinion, you like have the reward there.
00:01:20
Speaker
Plus you're like on the uphill or like upward slope of like starting to feel better. I also feel like people are like, Oh, you just had a newborn. Like you should sleep. You should rest when you're pregnant. It's like, what are you complaining about? Keep going, girl. Keep going.
00:01:33
Speaker
Like I feel like i have PTSD for you though tonight. Feeling sick. No, luckily not. I was laying Jack down and he didn't go to sleep right away and he started crying. And then I like got that anxiety of like when your newborn won't fall asleep. Remember when we were a girl's night and yes Jack was there and he wouldn't fall asleep. yeah And it was like we're doing a sleepover. The noise of like them screaming not being able to calm them them down is just like so It's so anxiety. No, it really is though.
00:02:02
Speaker
It really is. But that's so crazy because to me that does not seem that long ago. Wait, that was a year ago. that year ago. Because we did it for my birthday. That seems like last month that we did that.
00:02:13
Speaker
I know. Isn't that crazy? That's crazy. so like, I will say that nine months of pregnancy feels so long where you're just every day you're waking up and you're like I've got to get through this. I've got to get through this. Whereas I feel, and i have had some good days, but I feel like newborns It does go by faster.
Community Support in a New Neighborhood
00:02:31
Speaker
by faster. And then like actually at beginning they sleep a lot. Yes, you're up a lot, but also sleep a lot. And then I do feel like the middle phase of like the three-month regression, that's hard, but it only lasts for so long. But that three-month regression is...
00:02:45
Speaker
It's literally the worst, but you know that I only last so long. Yes. I feel like especially with my fourth, I'm hoping I'm going to be more patient this time around. I'm like, okay, I've got this. It's just a phase. I think what I'm worried about is that my patience is going to be thin because it does take a lot of patience to have a newborn. Yeah. And then you have three other kids.
00:03:04
Speaker
And they're all still young. i mean, my oldest is five. They still can be challenging. Exactly. Like very challenging. And so I feel like right now my patience is thin and I'm like, is my patience going to be even thinner when I have a newborn? Or am I just going to be happy not to be nauseous that like maybe some of that patience will come back?
Settling into a New Home
00:03:21
Speaker
Yeah, it's probably going to be both. It's probably me both, but um remind me, does Camden have any time off work or anything? It's kind of like flexible, but not completely time off, but will work less.
00:03:35
Speaker
Okay. And then kind of like ramp back up. I just feel lean on people. I think like that's the difference with a newborn too is like you can accept the meals. Like you can. See, I but feel like I've been leaning on people so much.
00:03:45
Speaker
So we officially moved. Yeah. We're moved in. So I can like go into this whole moving thing and then I want to hear your life updates. I will never, ever, ever move pregnant again. Or I don't even know if I'll move ever with little kids again.
00:03:59
Speaker
It has been the most exhausting thing in my entire life. It's so exhausting. And we're like finally moved in, which it took like a month to like pack up the house. And and we've been doing renovations on
Physical Changes During Pregnancy
00:04:11
Speaker
this house. And then we're finally moved in.
00:04:13
Speaker
Um, washer and dryer don't work. We bought new ones that don't work. And by new ones, I mean off Facebook Marketplace. That's, how does that happen? They just like are old. The stuff still comes out sopping wet.
00:04:25
Speaker
Oh my gosh. And so then it never dries. And we fixed a bunch of stuff in the washer. I've like cleaned it like crazy. We like basically took it apart completely. So I think it's just old and it doesn't work. you bought off Facebook Marketplace, did they say it worked?
00:04:37
Speaker
Yeah. That's annoying. But we also paid $250. For both? Yeah. for all So like it was a gamble. It was a gamble. You know, but we haven't had that. None of the showers worked. They like worked, but they like barely trickled.
00:04:49
Speaker
The, um, sink, like the kitchen sink, like barely trickled. I felt like I was like doing dishes camping. um Like, you know, when you have like a little thing. Was that like water pressure thing? So we thought it was a water pressure thing. We got a water, i don't know this interesting to anyone,
Taylor Swift's New Album Discussion
00:05:01
Speaker
but if you're a homeowner, those moving this stuff, yeah. um We got a water pressure gauge and tested the water pressure and it was completely fine.
00:05:09
Speaker
So, but we've had, so we've had to replace all the faucets, all the shower heads, all the things to get it to work. So I just feel like so happy and the area we're in, but so not settled because there's laundry everywhere. There was like days we couldn't shower or like barely shower.
00:05:26
Speaker
And I can't find socks for any of the kids because I can't do laundry. Like it's just been chaotic. Yeah. We finally got a fridge today. Oh, good. We've had a fridge, but it was our drink fridge in our last house, so it was tiny. Like, you couldn't even fit a gallon of milk in there. Yeah.
00:05:38
Speaker
And after moving, you're eating out so much when you're moving. Yeah. So after- You want to home-cooked meals. I just wanted home-cooked meals, but they weren't fitting in our fridge. Anyways, this is me venting, just saying, like, moving, if you're moving with little kids- I
Weekend Getaway and Concert Anticipation
00:05:51
Speaker
see you. It is so hard.
00:05:53
Speaker
Yeah. It is so impossibly hard. I would do a lot of things differently next time, aka I would like wait until we could afford movers before I moved again. But I will say, people in our new neighborhood have been so awesome. like They've just been like, let me take your kids. And they would like take them and feed them dinner and bring them back. Yes.
00:06:11
Speaker
Wait, that's... That's so cute. So does it feel worth it? yeah It feels totally worth it. I'm really glad we did it. I'm really happy with the area that we're in. i'm really like The neighborhood feels really magical. It feels like really peaceful. And I loved the and neighborhood we were in before.
00:06:25
Speaker
There's no kids on the street. And I couldn't just like send my kids out to play. and they never really wanted to go out. The street was a fairly busy street. I also feel like it's such a small detail, but because your house was like on a hill ah hill hill and slanted, I do feel like a flat
Child Growth Reflections
00:06:41
Speaker
neighborhood for some reason feels easier to walk them out and I love a flat neighborhood. yeah Today I was even on a walk and I was like, this is great.
00:06:48
Speaker
yeah like You can just, I don't know, and the streets are wider. The the streets being wider makes a big difference. noticed that was don't want to like throw any shade onto our old neighborhood. Yeah, what the heck? We were in the same neighborhood. Well, I wouldn't say we were in the same neighborhood.
00:07:02
Speaker
We were in the same community. Yeah. But still, like, five, six minutes away. Yeah. And, like, in different parts of the community. I will say, after hearing, or, like, going to and, seeing that situation, and then we did, like, a funeral this weekend with Sam's family, and they were saying how his grandparents were, like, the house that just, like, let everybody in and have food and stuff. It just, like, made me think. I'm like, that is something I really hope for, is, like...
00:07:26
Speaker
where the kids can just come in and out of the house. They're coming over to eat. The teenagers
Balancing Work and Motherhood
00:07:31
Speaker
are there. And it's like just a home that's like There's already like welcome four or five families on the street that like I've become friends with, we've become friends with that I feel like so comfortable with our kids being over at their houses. Like their kids have been over at our house. Like there hasn't been a day where our kids haven't all been playing outside.
00:07:48
Speaker
That's cute. And then like think you just move there and they all like love you already. Yes. It's been so nice. So like that has been so nice. It's just, I'm realizing that I knew this about myself. I don't like not feeling settled.
00:08:00
Speaker
I like really, really do not like feeling settled. Yeah. Like we just got doors on. We didn't have doors on any of the rooms. You're thick of it all. I'm in the thick of it, but every day I feel a little bit better.
00:08:10
Speaker
so will be settled by the baby. I sure hope so. No, have time. Did you see my Instagram? No. About the real hardwood floors? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. ah Could you die? That is like beautiful a fixer-upper story.
00:08:23
Speaker
I know, but we can't do anything with them. Is it only that one section? It's only like a teeny little section, but it's like the original solid wood hardwood floors. Like, they don't
Supporting Moms on Social Media
00:08:31
Speaker
even make them like that anymore. And so we don't know, this is like my interior nerd coming out, but like I like follow so many home accounts that will be like, look what happened once we bought our house and it's like pulling up the carpet to hardwood So when saw it, you started crying? wanted to, I didn't, cause I was like, Camden was like, I have something. So was like my dream and my nightmare coming true once. Also, I'm not even that big, but I feel like the baby's like, like my ribs, you know your ribs feel like they get stuck?
00:08:54
Speaker
I feel like that's definitely like, at least I felt this with my third child. It's probably more true with fourth is like everything hurts so much more. it hurt The heartburn, the burping, the like it's round ligament pain. That's what it No, I thought I was having contractions today. Yeah. And I wasn't, I wasn't overdoing it.
Book Club Introduction: 'The Anxious Generation'
00:09:11
Speaker
Mom, if you're listening to this, I wasn't overdoing it. I was truly like resting, but like my stomach was like getting tight. Like contractions do. You get brachynex earlier. like, kind of had to like breathe through them in the car. How many weeks did you say you were? 25. I'm only 25. Oh my gosh.
00:09:24
Speaker
It's kind of far though. But okay, is this a compliment or not when people say you don't even look pregnant? What? Like, but if someone tells you that and you're 25 weeks pregnant, how do you... Okay, i should I know it's meant as a compliment, but lately people like, and I feel like I'm trying to show, but people are like, you're not even showing.
00:09:42
Speaker
And I'm like, I know it's because... No, people are saying that as a compliment. I know they're saying it as a compliment, but I'm not taking it as a compliment because i am getting bigger. Like, the number on the scale is increasing rapidly.
00:09:52
Speaker
So I'm like... So what's the diss about it? Well, just think everything- always look this big? I think everything is getting big. Like, it's not just my stomach. It's like
Preparing for Winter: Setting Intentions
00:10:01
Speaker
everything. Watching the pod from when I first started, telling from when I first told you i was pregnant, my face is literally just like- It's wild how your, not yours specifically, but mine too, your face explodes. Like, I'll see pictures of me pregnant. I'm who is that person?
00:10:15
Speaker
But it happens like over time so don't realize it. There isn't enough gua sha. And usually I realize it but I don't realize how drastic it is. But we have these clips from the pod every other week. And so I'll be like editing them and I'll go back and watch our reels and I'm like...
00:10:30
Speaker
I miss that jawline. I mean, I didn't have much of a jawline before, but now she is not there. she does not face exist. It's wild. I feel like the face, the pregnant face is so true. pregnancy nose. What's that?
00:10:41
Speaker
You've never seen that? It's like swells. Oh my gosh. People's nose like doubles in size. ooh I'll have to like look at a mine and and see if it's... It probably did because I see pictures of my face. I'm like jump

00:10:51
Speaker
scare. I see pictures of my face. I'm like, I couldn't even open my eyes. My face was so slow.
00:10:54
Speaker
I have like a really round face though. and so i No, you do not. No, i have a round face. I just have no jawline. And I actually had a Botox person tell me like, you don't have a jawline because oh my gosh these muscles right here do this.
00:11:08
Speaker
Do you see how wide mine go? Oh yeah, weird. They go really wide and she said it basically pulls down this part of my chin so I have a double chin. I don't know if that sales tactic to get me to get like neck Botox, but it worked because I've been saving up ever since.
00:11:23
Speaker
Interesting. like they're very strong. Did she tell you to do that? Yeah, she's like these, I'm trying to talk when I do that. She said like these bands on the side of my neck, I can't remember what they're called. She was like, that's like one of the, those are the most prominent ones I've ever seen.
00:11:36
Speaker
Really? Yeah. So it pulls down my chin right here. Is there any pros to having prominent neck bands? No, just a

permanent double chin. So cool. It's okay. We all have boys. Those are my updates. Pregnant, still feeling pretty shitty.
00:11:49
Speaker
Moving. can't believe you're still nauseous. It sucks so bad. I know I had like three weeks where I felt good though, but it was such a blessing because it was when we were packing and like, I was like, go, go, go hundred percent all day, every day. It was like a sprint and a marathon at once.
00:12:02
Speaker
And if I would have been nauseous during that, we wouldn't have been able to move get out in time. be episode for you once we get into it then, because I do think you need to like, I need to enjoy, I need to pumpkin spice my life.
00:12:14
Speaker
um My whole, every part of my life needs pumpkin spice. Okay. Taylor Swift album. Okay. What are your initial thoughts? I haven't had time to fully digest it, but I feel like this, I i like it. I'm going to start by saying I like it.
00:12:26
Speaker
The more I listen to, the more I like it. What songs do you like? Opalite?
Fall Music and Self-Care Errands
00:12:31
Speaker
I know that one. I like that one. They're looking at you.
00:12:37
Speaker
Don't know which one that is. Eldest daughter. Eldest daughter, i I mean, I can relate to. I'm Eldest daughter. First lamb to the slaughter. Yeah. Like, it's intense, but like, first lamb to the slaughter.
00:12:48
Speaker
Did you see Taylor Swift on um Fallon? The video? So good. she Taylor Swift's just a girl. You know, I also like... People say the Travis Taylor relationship is fake.
00:12:59
Speaker
I do not believe it. I like it's so real. No. And like the way that she was talking about, I just get to hang out with him forever. I'm like, she's just a girl. And he's my best friend. How cute is that? I love it. And okay. So I will say this about the album. These are my thoughts. I really, really like it. I'm excited now that I feel like, and this is selfish in me, but like Taylor's going to get married, probably have kids, be in this like same phase of life as us. yeah And I feel like we'll be able to
Morning Routines and School Prep
00:13:21
Speaker
relate to the songs even more. Yeah.
00:13:23
Speaker
Like I hope she like really leans into that like, motherhood secure relationship like yes her music has to change yeah right because it was all about heartbreak yeah I guess this album really isn't about heartbreak is it no there's like a few songs that are about like drama things that happen but like canceled and stuff like that but not really do you think canceled is about Blake Lively that's what people are saying really I don't know like I think it was like the Pop Apologist podcast that you... ah Yeah, I love them. I refuse to believe it's about Blake Lively. like, hmm.
00:13:55
Speaker
Honestly, I'm not really a Swifty, so I don't know if I know all the lore, but I like the album fine. like Actually, like the latter half of the album more. like I liked Wishlist. I like Eldest Daughter. i like...
00:14:06
Speaker
I just realized my straw broke inside my cup. Oh gosh, don't drink that. I
Fall Family Traditions
00:14:11
Speaker
was like, where did my straw go? Be careful, you'll get glass in your throat. Honestly. Anyways. have to risk it.
00:14:17
Speaker
Oh my gosh! She's wild, kids! She's going crazy. um But yeah, I just have heartburn. I like it fine. Like I'm not necessarily obsessed obsessed with it, but I haven't, again, haven't listened to it either, but I didn't obviously feel like there was a bunch of like bops. Like I wasn't like, Ooh, but I felt the way about Justin Bieber's new album too. So really? Yeah.
00:14:37
Speaker
You know, I just think nothing will, nothing will hit like the classics. Yeah. Like the classic Taylor Swift. My change, my style of music has also changed slightly. So maybe that's it. I know.
00:14:48
Speaker
Um, speaking of music, guess what I'm doing this weekend? Oh, want to know. Going to the Noah Khan concert. ah Are you so excited? I'm so excited. You know I love him. Yes. I know. ever Is it the two-day one that you're going to?
00:14:59
Speaker
It's a three-day concert, but we're just going on the Sunday
Cozy Girls' Nights and Crafts
00:15:01
Speaker
night. It's actually so nice. My mom's going to take the kids, and so we're going to do like a little weekend away, um Friday, Saturday, and then do the concert Sunday night. Wait.
00:15:09
Speaker
I'm so excited. That's going to be such a fun... weather isn't good, though, I'm a little sad about that. Where are going? We're just in New Park City. Just Park City, just like the best place ever. Yeah, just the best ever. But, so if you have any good recommendations, let me know. But it's going to nice. Like, Sam and I haven't had, like, a weekend just us since having Jack.
00:15:26
Speaker
Yes, you need that. So it will be super nice. And then we're just going to, like, hang out. We have, like, he's starting a new job, so we're going to like, some goal planning and just like, you know. I was going to tell today when he said he got the job. i'm like, you and Becca need to go on a trip. So I'm glad you guys are doing something. Yes, it's small, but like it's something we'll probably do like a bigger trip next year, but it'll be super fun. And be fun to go the concert.
00:15:46
Speaker
It's funny that I was messaging my friend about it and we're like, are we going to so old there? Probably. because in no festival
Listener Submissions: Fall Activities
00:15:51
Speaker
No, I don't think you'll be old. I don't think, I don't think will be a Megan Moroney situation for you.
00:15:56
Speaker
We'll see. Um, okay. Let's see. Oh, speaking of Jack, I was going to say like, it's actually so wild. You know how you're saying like, Oh, it seems like you just had him. He's just crying, falling asleep. I feel that way too. Like I genuinely feel like he's still a newborn. Yeah.
00:16:10
Speaker
But he is like freaking me out a little bit lately. Like he's starting to like say like not words, but he'll be like he for hot. It seems so big. So big. And then like walks around like, I don't know. He's like, he I swear yesterday we took your newborns with him.
00:16:26
Speaker
That was yesterday, right? Yeah, that was yesterday. And now he's like, I don't want to make you sad, but he's like phasing out a baby to toddler. Like I have like three kids now. And like, he like does this thing, like he walks around. And one thing that like made me realize he's like starting to like really get it is the other day I took Colson out to the car and I was coming back in to get Jack and he was by the door crying. Like, why did you forget me? Like,
00:16:47
Speaker
Yeah, we realize he's just more aware. We leave the room. Yeah, he's just so aware. He knows what he wants. like It's just such a weird thing. It's honestly like very sad. Because when you are in the newborn phase, it feels like you're going there forever. It does. And then all of a sudden you wake up and you're like, you're not a newborn.
00:17:01
Speaker
Do you feel like you enjoyed it, though? Do you feel like you enjoyed his newborn I feel like I enjoyed it. It honestly went by really fast because I didn't, like, wish it away. Like, I was like, this is, like. Yeah. Well, Andy started a new job.
00:17:12
Speaker
How many months was he? Five months. Yeah. So, I'm sure those, like, first five months went slower, but then once you started your new job, it was like, go, go, go. Exactly. And he was, like, sleeping through the night at that point, which I feel like that's kind of the best.
00:17:24
Speaker
phase is like when they sleep through the night but they still take two k naps a day like they're very like easy going they just like start to eat and they just sit at the table and just eat food five months good for him you know good good for you sleep training bro you did it yeah we love sleep training also i actually had a comment around that working moms man my comment was literally working moms wows us it's like crazy like when i really think about it like Dang, it's hard.
00:17:51
Speaker
It really is hard. What do you think the hardest part is about being a working mom? But don't you think it's all hard? You've never not been a working mom. Like being stay-at-home mom is just as hard as what you're saying? I think it's hard in a different way.
00:18:02
Speaker
I agree. I 100% agree. I don't think it' one's harder than the other. i think the biggest challenge though is like having a lot of conflicting priorities. Yeah, and switching from mom mode to work mode for me is really hard.
00:18:16
Speaker
Contact switching. And then, like, I think something like hard for me is, like, let's say my kid's coming to my office when I'm in a meeting. I'm obviously, like, when our nanny's there, I'm always like, okay, come on, you got to get out. And then I'm, like, feel guilty. I'm, like, ugh.
00:18:29
Speaker
Like, I probably made them feel bad. And then it's also, like, but I also can't, like, have them interrupting this meeting when I'm presenting. It's just, like, like I think it's a little bit of a conflict of interest. and like It is. I do love both so much. When you're working mom, I think the hardest part about it is you feel like you're not excelling in either thing.
00:18:45
Speaker
I feel like you feel like you're just like trying to get by with work and you're trying to get through the day as a mom. So true. And I think stay-at-home moms probably feel the same way. Yeah. I think that the hardest part about stay being a stay-at-home mom and the periods of my life when i the like two months I wasn't working, I did feel like my days felt so monotonous.
00:19:04
Speaker
Like what are we going to do today? Yeah. But I mean, that could have the phase I was in too. I just think it's all hard. i think it's, I think being a mom, cause I think financially it's hard too. When you're a stay at home mom on one income.
00:19:16
Speaker
Yeah. That's stressful. That's hard. When I do think it is like the same day. Like I do think from my work, I get a lot of like short term fulfillment, like totally wins. Like that type thing. probably get more affirmations too from just like the people you work with or as like kids. Like being a mom is kind of a thankless job.
00:19:33
Speaker
Yes. In a way, like you don't have your kids. Like sometimes you have your spouse being like, Hey, you're doing great. But also I feel like at work you get more like, Hey, good job. Yeah. And there's more metrics that are like measurable that you can hit. Yeah. And it's more predictable, but I do think like eventually I'll probably be a full stay at home mom. Yeah, you will. Yeah, i will.
00:19:51
Speaker
So like it will be a transition. I'll have to keep everyone updated. and I might like create one of those TikTok accounts. It's like... Working mom turned stay-at-home mom. Support me. Help me get to 100K. I'm like, it's smart, bro. like It is smart. That's clickbait. They're making money.
00:20:05
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, like help me stay at home with my kids. I'm like, yeah, hells yeah. I'll watch the video. I'll keep going. I'll like that. I can't breathe. I'm like down to like people that say like, hey, creators, comment for visibility. i'm I'm down to comment. Yeah, like mom supporting moms. Yeah, exactly. I love the TikTok you sent me that said I'm a mom's mom.
00:20:23
Speaker
Oh, yeah. That's a good one. I love that. Like, I'm a mom's mom. Like whatever you need to do, like I'm going to support you. I'm not going to judge you. Who are some of your comfort creators right now?
00:20:34
Speaker
I'm kind of trying to stay off social media. Oh, good for you. Like I'll go on it a little bit, but just this phase of life I'm in, I just, yeah. if you have a comfort show then? Or what are you doing? No, we haven't had TVs.
00:20:48
Speaker
Oh my God. We haven't had doing it. night I guess unloading. Moving. Moving. Moving or crying or like trying to put up light switch covers And if aren't bored right now, that's for No, i'm not bored.
00:20:59
Speaker
I'm not bored. I want to be bored so badly. That's a good feeling though. Like being so productive. but i usually feel that way, but now I want to be bored. Like I want to feel settled and be bored.
00:21:10
Speaker
Okay. ah My comfort creator, if you want to know, I always love her. You know what it's going to be? No. It's always the same one. kind of banged Oh yes, yes, yes. love her. So good. Like if I ever become like Instagram influencer, i I like want to match her style. Like just outdoors. Well she, that is your style.
00:21:28
Speaker
Like spending time with her kids, like just like chill. I want to be more type B that way. Yeah. Just like i I saw her post something that you're like I'm not in the business of like speeding my kids up to get somewhere. And I've been thinking about that because I'm, even if we don't want to get somewhere, I'm like, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. I'm in the business of speeding up my kids. I am speeding them up all day long. I know. Same.
00:21:51
Speaker
That's okay. So I like that she said that, though. Yeah. Because was like, I have been trying to be more mindful of like, oh, like today I picked up Elsie from school and i wanted to get home so we could go buy a fridge. Get in the car. I'm like, get in the car. She's like, can we go pick some grapes? There's like a grapevine at the park. Yeah, know about it. Yeah, you know about it. Yeah.
00:22:06
Speaker
She wanted to take like a shit ton of grapes. And I'm like, these are someone's grapes. All of them go over there and snack, though. So like maybe they're okay with it? I guess. Probably. Yeah. She was like, i like got her like three and she's like, no, I want like a bunch of them. And i was like, no.
00:22:20
Speaker
But I was trying to tell myself I wanted to get in the crib. was like, I'm going to take a second. I'm going go get some grapes with her. I'm not going to speed her up. So it did like stick with me. Good. Yeah. Even though it's Sometimes you just need to like shift your mindset. Yeah.
00:22:32
Speaker
and think you'll do those things. And even just doing it one time, one day, it's like enough. That's what I love about social media when it comes to just like seeing other ways that people are parenting is it is nice to just like get other ideas or philosophies or perspectives, which you get that with your friends. But like I also feel like sometimes your friends, you guys all start to do the same things. so it's nice just to have like an outside perspective. I completely agree. Okay, do you to talk about the book club?
00:22:56
Speaker
Yes, let's talk about it. So I've been pushing Becca to do this idea. it's like kind of cheesy. i' have do you know what? I've tried to start a few book clubs and I don't even like reading. But I just like love the idea of a book Did you try start one and then we never did it? Yep.
00:23:09
Speaker
Yep. I've tried to start it. I had another group of friends where we did it and then I chose a bad book and then it fizzled out. What book? I don't even remember. It was bad. I was so embarrassed. It was on Reese's Book Club.
00:23:19
Speaker
Oh. So it should have been good. i literally couldn't tell you. book I love? No, it's not a popular book. Okay. Like at all. It was bad. But I started reading The Anxious Generation because recently i have become so obsessed with with giving my kids a 90s childhood and bringing back this idea of like a 90s childhood, like getting them outside. Because I do think, and I don't want to hate on millennial parents, I do think we can be like a little overprotective. And I don't think it's our fault.
00:23:50
Speaker
I just think the world that we were raised in and like the evolution of social media in the time that we've gone from like teenagers to adults, like it has made the world scary.
00:24:02
Speaker
You're so aware too. You're so aware and you hear about all the terrible things that happen that I think like naturally we're going to feel like we need to hold our kids like really, really close to keep them safe. And obviously that should be our number one priority.
00:24:14
Speaker
I'm only like a couple chapters into the book, but it's basically talking about how like we need to let them like get outside, play with other kids. Like they need to fail. They need to do things that scare them. Like, I don't know. It's really good. Who's the author?
00:24:26
Speaker
Like, or what's the credentials of the author? I guess I should say. Let me find out. Yeah. I've heard so many people talk about this book, though. mother-in-law was just telling me about this. The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. I'm going to butcher this.
00:24:39
Speaker
H-A-I-D-T. But it's how the great rewiring of childhood is causing an epidemic of mental illness. yeah Hmm. Okay. So we want to have our followers read.
00:24:50
Speaker
Yeah. I think it'd be fun to like, okay, this month, and maybe we start it just like on a random day, but like, okay, we're going all read it this month. And then we're going to recap it on this day on the pod. Yeah. Let's do like a month. Let's do a month from now. And do like an audible. My husband and I are both, Camden, i don't know why i say my husband, but Camden and I are both reading it right now just because we are raising kids in such a different age.
00:25:12
Speaker
than like yeah we had. Did you watch that show on Netflix about the girl whose mom was like cyber bullying her? No. What's that? were talking about it in the friends group text. oh no, I don't watch creepy shows. I'm honestly watching too many. I'm actually watching two really creepy shows right now and I want to stop. It is spooky season. What shows?
00:25:32
Speaker
Have you seen The Girlfriend? No. Is it good though? It's so good. It's like about a mom. Oh, this is kind of crazy. It's kind of relatable to Pac-Dos. It's a mom who's obsessed with her son. And then he gets a girlfriend. And the girlfriend and the mom are like at it.
00:25:44
Speaker
And like, they're like really at it. It's like a thriller. and Like at it, like trying to kill each other? not going to give any spoilers away. But you should watch it. like It's not so creepy, but it's like, oh man, people are just can't watch Gory.
00:25:59
Speaker
There's a little bit of blood, but I wouldn't say gory like Game of Thrones or anything like that. But then we're watching this other show. We're watching this other show. Honestly, I actually had to stop watching it because it was too creepy. It's called Black Rabbit. Have you heard of it with Jude Law?
00:26:10
Speaker
No. But even that name, like, I don't like. It's like, it's just too much. Like, I don't know. i can't go too deep on the creeps. I used to be the person who was like, let's watch a scary movie all the time. I was obsessed with scary movies.
00:26:24
Speaker
Yeah. Did you know that about me in college? That was like my favorite thing to do was like order sushi and watch a scary movie with my friends, with my roommates. Now I can't even watch Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is like, yeah, it's not that scary. but It's not scary, but like anything that's just like intense or even just like a little bit demonic.
00:26:42
Speaker
It's a mom. Like I feel like I can't do a lot of stuff as a mom. I was totally comfortable before. I know. I feel like it just sticks with me. We're the anxious generation. So now we read things like the anxious generation.
00:26:53
Speaker
Anyways, if everyone wants to do this okay or if anyone, not everyone, if every single person, but let's do it. And then we can do like a little episode on it and kind of like get submissions and thoughts. Cause I do think,
00:27:04
Speaker
We can get into it, but it's basically about like getting our kids not off of screens, but less screens and like delaying, giving them a cell phone and how to do it And it's basically saying like, this has to be a decision as parents we all make together. group Yes. I've heard about this. yeah Okay. Yeah. Let's read it. And then maybe we can like,
00:27:21
Speaker
do videos on our stories and like tell it like talk about it we're talking about it yeah and then get people's opinions and stuff too this is gonna be like my new this is like my new mission in life like I love it I'm not usually passionate about stuff like this but I am recently so passionate about just like screens not screens phones and kids kids and phones Okay, getting into the episode, what actually inspired this episode is I saw, speaking of TikTok, I saw- Speaking screens. That I always talk about.
00:27:47
Speaker
um I saw this girl chatting about getting ready for winter and she basically said, you have until daylight savings to get your shit together for winter. Basically meaning, get your ducks in order. If you're going wake up early, start waking up early. you're going to to gym, start going to the gym.
00:28:02
Speaker
Anything you want to do to get through winter, do it now. Get in the habit so once winter comes and you're miserable- You have good- You have the habits in place. Wait, that's such a good point. It was honestly, it really resonated with me. One question.
00:28:13
Speaker
When is daylight savings? I think it was like November 13th. I don't know. Sometime in november November, like mid November. So we still have like six weeks. Oh, plenty of time. Plenty of time. Um, to like kind of get some habits. And it's not like January goal setting habits. It's more just like. I wrote down here, like instead of resolutions, talk about intentions. Yes.
00:28:32
Speaker
So like, I feel like fall is the time for intentions because you're not like making resolutions. Like I'm going to start going to the gym. I'm going to start doing this. Cause I do feel like fall is a season that you want to enjoy. But you also, like you said, want to have good habits that you can take into the winter season and combat those winter blues. Well, I think it's all about like being intentional. Like you said, like Sam and I had this idea to do 75 hard for our family. Have you seen on...
00:28:55
Speaker
uh, social media that people are doing 75 hearts, but it's like their own version of it. Have you seen that? I've seen like 75 medium or 75 soft. Yeah. yeah And like, honestly, the basically it's like for 75 days, we want to like do some things to that are family and ours are like so simple. Like one is like sit down and eat dinner as a family together. yeah And then we can you go out.
00:29:12
Speaker
No, it's not like, yeah, we can. Okay, okay. But like, it's not even strict. And then like, we're going to do one, like the boys are each going to set their goals and we're gonna let them like work towards it and get, ah they can choose whatever goal they want. Yeah. And then I think we did one more of like, go to bed by a certain time and do like a family night once a week. Like it's super easy stuff, but I was inspired. I'm like, okay, if there's things I want to do, got to do it now before winter comes and I'm like, have no motivation. Like I still have some of the summer, like energy.
00:29:40
Speaker
And then we also should talk about like all of the, things that we want to do to cozy up for fall too. So we'll start jumping into those now. Okay. I wrote some ideas. Okay. So obviously there's spring cleaning, but I do think fall decluttering is so important. We kind of talked about this last year, which is crazy. We're coming up a year on the podcast.
00:29:58
Speaker
We might've hit it. Celebrate. We'll have to look. You're so informal. um But when you're inside in winter, you're surrounded by all of your stuff.
00:30:09
Speaker
So right now is such a good time to declutter. Because I feel like we think like spring cleaning will declutter then. But you're going inside with all your stuff. So like make your space a space you want to be in that doesn't feel cluttered. So I obviously just did a crazy amount of decluttering. Yeah.
00:30:24
Speaker
Because we moved. It felt so good. It felt really, really good. Just to have the stuff that you need and actually see what you have. So that's an idea. Yeah, I completely agree. And I also think that you are inside more. So just like even like having a space for where everything goes. Yes.
00:30:38
Speaker
Oh, okay. Refreshing your space without redecorating. Redecorating in fall is really fun, but also it can feel really overwhelming. Like, oh, I have to do a full fall like yeah redecoration.
00:30:49
Speaker
I think there's a couple things you can do just like getting new pillows. Yeah. Shameless plug for Wolvenhook. Yeah. Getting new pillows, getting some new blankets, like yeah getting some candles, getting like a few fall leaves. Like it doesn't have to be crazy, but it does help with a transition from summer to fall because you are transitioning to being inside more. So you want to enjoy your space and have it be like a space you enjoy.
00:31:11
Speaker
Yeah, I completely agree. i just said you want to enjoy your space and have it be a space you can enjoy. I really want to enjoy it. I love like getting my Halloween decor stuff out. I don't have a ton. Your stuff is cute. But it's just enough where the boys get really excited. And then I always, for the like seasons, I guess I shouldn't say always, but I do it for Christmas and Halloween.
00:31:29
Speaker
have like books that are for the season. I love that you do that. And I just will, I have my little bucket over there and I'll just bring out all the Halloween books and get to like reading and cozying up. And it's like a really fun vibe and they love, they don't have the books all year long. So it's very fun to like read for the season. I love that.
00:31:44
Speaker
Um, Okay, yeah, some other, like, cozying up things. One, hot drinks. Need to. Love hot drinks. Did you see that Starbucks has protein milk now? No way. Yes, like Dutch Bros. Oh, my gosh. I know. i'm Okay, Uggs and hooves.
00:32:00
Speaker
Hooves. Breaking out of the hooves. My Uggs tonight. I mean, like, there's nothing better, right, than, like, a sweatshirt and Uggs for cozy season. Honestly, i especially being pregnant right now, and just love throwing on a sweatshirt and some Uggs.
00:32:12
Speaker
blankets, sweat sets. Like I think just like turn a candle on that smells fall. Like it's just like sweat sets. Embrace the season. but Wait, what's your favorite hot drink? I want to go back to that. Coffee, 100%.
00:32:25
Speaker
Do you know I've been really craving? Like a homemade cider. do you like matcha? I love matcha. Not when pregnant. have to at work today and everyone hates it. Really? Apparently, that's that's Gen Z of you.
00:32:36
Speaker
Look at me. I've always liked matcha though. Even when I worked at Jamba Juice. I was cool before I was cool. No, when I worked at Jamba Juice in high school, we had a matcha drink. Really? I don't think it was healthy. Like, no, I know it wasn't healthy. It literally had, like, frozen yogurt in it.
00:32:49
Speaker
But I would always get the matcha drink. And I didn't even know. Jamba Juice healthy, huh? Jamba Juice, spoiler alert, everyone, is not healthy. PB love. They might have re- You know what that is? don't know what that See, think – 1200 calories. I'm not kidding. Is it the strawberry peanut butter, like, bowl? I think it's just peanut butter, milk, and chocolate.
00:33:07
Speaker
I don't know. I mean, not going to lie, it's been how many years? Like, 15 years since I've worked at Jamba Juice. So I'm sure they've done some rebranding and, like, redoing of their drinks. But when I worked there, it was literally, like, people would get – They would get a smoothie, like the Fruity Pebbles or something that was just sorbet and like maybe a little bit of raspberries, but then they would add fat burner to Oh my gosh.
00:33:32
Speaker
Do you remember when Jamba Juice had like those mix-ins? Yeah, they still have that. They do? Yeah, nothing kind of slaps like a Jamba Juice. Like when you're sick, like the oatmeal is money. Have you ever had the oatmeal? Well, yeah. I'm glad to make it, but like not in a while. It kind of ruins a place when you work there. that's true. I'm not going lie. felt that way about Rocky Mountain Chackle Factory.
00:33:52
Speaker
I always forget that part of your lore is that you worked at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. was like their best employee. I'm not even kidding. They wanted to promote me. Didn't you like team lead? Didn't you like gain weight and stuff? yeah. As soon as I started there. So one cool thing about Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is it's unlimited sweets. You can have as much as you want.
00:34:10
Speaker
I could not work at a place like that because I would not stop ever. I gained 10 pounds. Literally 10. Only 10? But I'm a small person. Like 10 pounds for me is a lot. Are you for sure you gained 10 pounds or do you just like feel like you gained 10 pounds? No, I for sure weighed myself and gained 10 pounds like within like a month.
00:34:26
Speaker
I'm not kidding. How could you not? I downing like the truffles, the caramel apples. What's the best thing at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory? Turtles. Turtles? Yeah. It's a turtle. The animal turtle.
00:34:38
Speaker
No, it's like a caramel chocolate and a nut. Oh, okay, okay, okay. That's the best thing. that What's the most underrated thing that like people wouldn't normally get there, but that's actually so good? The turtles? No, I would say like...
00:34:51
Speaker
Well, everyone knows this is good, but the caramel apple like cinnamon one is so good. No, that's go-to. But I would say like their Rice Krispies that are dipped are actually really good, as well as their dipped bananas. But like no one knows to really order those.
00:35:02
Speaker
oh Are they frozen bananas? Uh, yeah. Oh, so it's almost like a babababab. But how long did you work there? Only like eight months. It's a long time. Yeah, no, I worked at my other job for seven years. If you would have kept on your trajectory, you would have gained 80 pounds.
00:35:19
Speaker
So maybe a ah eight months is actually a long time. No, they tried to keep me, but they paid like crap. And like worked in the restaurant injury industry where i make tips and like that's way better. Yeah. I made like eight bucks an hour there. free sweets.
00:35:33
Speaker
I love Oh, man. Okay. Going into just like also reset, let's talk about the mental and emotional reset that we can do during fall. So I wrote like the mom burnout check-in.
00:35:45
Speaker
So fall is a good time to do small rituals that bring you back to yourself. Yeah. Like small things. Morning walks, journaling, solo errands. It is crazy how going on a solo errand is now such a treat.
00:36:01
Speaker
Do you like solo errands? Oh, yeah. Listening to music in my car with no no one talking to me. On the way here, i need to talk about this. Camden and I share a Spotify account. Okay. So I'm finally in the car after a long day driving to your house.
00:36:14
Speaker
And I'm like, I'm going to get in the mood. I'm going to put on the new Taylor Swift album. And I'm like feeling it. I'm starting to feel like my like adrenaline from the day like come down a little bit. Like my yeah, my cortisol is like lowering.
00:36:25
Speaker
All of a sudden, the music switches halfway through to Ice Ice Baby. Because we share a Spotify account and that's what him and the kids wanted to listen to while they were cleaning up dinner. And it was just such a like.
00:36:37
Speaker
Buzzkill. Such a buzzkill that it kind of like put me in a bad mood. And then I, so I stole the music back and then he's like, you stole our music. And I was like, actually. You stole my music. You stole my music. You need to listen to that That's another thing is having a fall.
00:36:50
Speaker
I'm obsessed with Zach Bryan right now. Love Zach Bryan. Just like putting him on. Not actually though a human been though. Because remember. Wait, Zach Bryan, am I thinking of the right person? That's the one who, like, had the problem with, like... Okay, I'm not thinking of Zach Bryan. Who do I love right now?
00:37:05
Speaker
Shoot, I forgot that he was the one who did the girlfriend thing. Yeah. and I want to say chicken. in Is her name, like, chicken something? Um... Brianna's Chicken Fry. Yeah. ah Real quick while you're looking that up, I also love a good cry in the car alone.
00:37:19
Speaker
Like if I'm really feeling it, I just need to cry in the car. Yeah. There's nothing like crying in the car. And it's raining outside. yeah That is millennial of us. you're in a music video. Imagine like living somewhere somewhere we don't have a car. That'd be actually so sad.
00:37:32
Speaker
I love being in the car. I love going on drives. Except that mine smells like McDonald's french fries permanently. feel like mine kind of smells like throw up. Mine? Yes. No, I feel like that about my car too. Like spilled drinks.
00:37:44
Speaker
Spilled milk. Yeah. I need to get my car detailed. Anyone want to sponsor us? Yeah, sponsor us for that, please. Okay, I really liked this as part of the mom burnout check-in is having boundaries in saying no.
00:37:57
Speaker
So summer is like such a time of saying yes. There's so much going on. We talked about this on the pod, like splash pad, pool, play date, park, so much going on. In fall, like have it be a more of a season of like saying no and doing intentional yeses, yeah which I think we both have a hard time with this of like having FOMO, but being like pretty choosy about what you want to go to and obviously like be a good friend.
00:38:22
Speaker
But I do feel like it's a time where I just like naturally want to like have earlier nights, go to bed earlier, like cozy up. And so having like my social events a little more spaced out during that time, I do think helps me like prepare. Cause then the holidays is crazy. You're obviously doing so many social things.
00:38:38
Speaker
Kind of like reset. Yeah. Like kind of just be okay with being like, I'm going to stay home tonight. Yeah. And I think like, like you said, like kind of starting to reset things that make you feel better. It's dark earlier. So like take a tub, start to read, yeah do your skincare, like I feel like in the summer, it's just chaotic and busy. And so it's like kind of like slow it down and like do the things that are like yeah kind of cozy and like fun as a ritual. Okay. Getting back into the rhythm.
00:39:03
Speaker
Obviously, we're doing school and like school drop-offs right now. Do you have any – and I am selfishly asking this because I need help. Any small hacks that help the mornings go by smoother? Because it feels like the mornings are – it's getting darker and it feels like they come earlier and earlier. Yeah. I want to keep sleeping until – you know I have a pretty – strict schedule but like how do you motivate your kids because I feel like my kids are starting to feel it now where it feels early and they don't want to get up like they don't want to wake up which is pretty unlike them because they're usually like 6 30 they're up yeah my kids wake up early it's hard to motivate them they're like and I feel like honestly I'm just doing like easy breakfasts and stuff because we're not like sitting down and having like a full big breakfast in the morning what are your easy breakfast yeah that's what we do
00:39:46
Speaker
Or those little pancakes from um Costco, the little like round ones. Have you had those? Are don't know what they're called, but my kids love them. Oh, yeah, yeah, And then they can dip them. Yes, yes. We've had those. And they dip them in yogurt. One thing I will do, though, is start the dishwasher at night, and then I'll pack a lunch sometimes at night, too. Okay, I've been doing that.
00:40:04
Speaker
Or I'll let Colson help me. He loves choosing out what's in his lunch. school, they're learning to be proactive, and so that's what he does, to be proactive. I'm to start using that at home. I'm going to be like, no, be proactive.
00:40:15
Speaker
Have you noticed, like, little things that they're learning at school? Oh, actually, Kat, want your opinion on this. I don't know if Elsie's been doing this, but Coles has been saying, like, I made a mistake or that's bad.
00:40:25
Speaker
Yeah. How do you – I don't know if I love that. No, I don't know if I love it either. is that so millennial parent of us, though? Like, to be like, oh, I don't want them to think they're making a mistake. I just think Elsie is very – perfectionist like someone else i know and i do think it affects her a lot when she feels like she did something wrong well they're not allowed to use erasers at school because i heard that they can't like redo things they just have to cross them down and like cole someone he was writing his letters he did a little wrong that's bad crossed it out i know else he's done that i i'm like honestly i'm kind of down for like a more strict school but i think like they're also so young it's not bad you're just practicing yeah practicing
00:41:06
Speaker
Their teacher has been teaching for, what, 42 years, and he's i he's literally Mr. Rogers. But I do think he's a little more old-fashioned. Yeah. Which maybe isn't bad. I'm glad it's strict. Like, I think there's positives to that. Yeah.
00:41:18
Speaker
But I don't want it to be like, oh, you can't. ah Yeah, they should use erasers. They should really use erasers. I didn't know that. don't like him saying, that's bad. Yeah. Like, I don't like that word for some reason. and Yeah. Or, like, a mistake.
00:41:33
Speaker
Yeah. I don't want him to feel like. They're just learning. They're just practicing. They're literally in kindergarten. They're just like figuring these out. But maybe we're just millennial parents that like want to protect our kids too much.
00:41:45
Speaker
I don't know. like Do you think it's good to tell your kids, that's bad. bad for like writing a letter wrong no no no when they disrespect me and they like scream at me that's bad that's bad that i will say is bad um okay i'll say a small hack that saves our mornings is i set out their clothes the night before i got these like little bins from target and they know which bins are theirs and we'll set out their clothes the night before so i can tell them like hey go get dressed and they're not like what do i wear and we're not fighting over what they're wearing in the morning it's just like set out and ready
00:42:16
Speaker
That's a great hat. Yeah. That's like one thing that's safe me. out and like backpacks ready. but Yeah. That's smart to get going in the mornings. Because goes by so fast. It goes by really fast. Oh. I feel like it's just such. I'm like dreading it tomorrow thinking about it.
00:42:28
Speaker
um Okay. Hold on. I need to get a drink. I'm so thirsty. May I read some? This baby is in my freaking ribs.
00:42:40
Speaker
Do we want to talk about family meals or should we just talk about a family time? like, talk about some bucket list ideas. should talk about bucket list ideas. And then I feel like we can kind of skip to, oh, let's do, like, bucket list ideas.

And then, like, let's talk about, like, doing, like, cozy mom night stuff. Like, bucket list for us, basically. Okay. And then we can read any submissions that we didn't already cover. feel like my brain isn't working. feel like and i I'm, like, stumbling over my words.
00:43:08
Speaker
How about I start talking and you can think of things as I talk? Okay, now going into like some more fun things to do this season. We're not all business. We're not all business. Cozy up. Let's start with like some of the family things you're going to do this fall as like a bucket list. I'll tell you some the ones I've already done that have been super fun. like In Utah, like the fo fall leaves are amazing. And so we've done a bunch of drives and hikes to go see that. And it's just like, it's so enjoyable. Like it's just so beautiful. It is so beautiful.
00:43:36
Speaker
That's one thing we've done. um one Well, one thing we like to do around our neighborhood is our neighborhood goes all out for Halloween. And so we'll do like um walks around the neighborhood and like see all the Halloween decor. Cute. So that's something we do. And then um our neighborhood also does – have you gotten booed before?
00:43:51
Speaker
No. We got booed tonight. You should start this in your neighborhood. So basically it's like this paper it says you got booed. I know what it is. I've just never done it. You should do it. Or had it done. It's cute. It's a cute little family. It's just so easy. My kids are obsessed with it. And now they're like get to go do someone else.
00:44:03
Speaker
Because once you get booed, you then boo someone else, right? Yes, Then who starts the booing? Just one person. don't know. And then we talked about the Halloween books. That's another thing we do. What traditions are you doing for? Well, we haven't done any.
00:44:16
Speaker
Yeah. Just because we've been in like such a hard phase of life. So I feel like we need to just like do a couple. You have a month. To feel. Yeah. We have a month. We haven't even like gotten pumpkins or anything.
00:44:26
Speaker
That's fine. Like it's truly just been like survival. Barely started October. But we're going up to Midway this weekend to do a hayride. Cute. And so that will be really fun. Trying to think what we usually do. Camden loves carving pumpkins.
00:44:38
Speaker
He literally is like Picasso when it comes to carving pumpkins. He takes it very seriously. That's hilarious. So I'm sure we'll do that. I just love like the cozy dinners. Same. Like tonight we had chili and cornbread. Soups. Yes. Soups. So good.
00:44:53
Speaker
Um... I don't know i love a pumpkin patch. There's some really good ones in Utah. Yeah. Like some really beautiful ones. Yeah. Do you feel like it's hard? Like I feel like we used to have so much time to do all this stuff, but now our kids get home at 3.
00:45:04
Speaker
Yeah. They don't really get home until 3.30. Then it's 4. Then it's like you can go do something, but then it's like bedtime. Yeah. I might down and hang out at home, honestly, but I do want to try to do some of the activities. Yeah.
00:45:16
Speaker
You did the chairlift. Yeah. That so beautiful. did the chairlift. We've been hiking. um We've been doing, like, cozy meals at home. I do want to do, like, a couple more, like, Halloween-themed. I'm definitely going to do, like, Highland Gardens because it's, like, basically corn bellies. It's the best. You haven't been yet?
00:45:30
Speaker
Not this year. you go to corn bellies plus this year? Never going to again. I'm anti-corn bellies. I loved it for a while, but. I do not. Like, it stresses me out. There's so many people. Yeah. We lost Blair once.
00:45:43
Speaker
Seems like we're always losing Blair. But we lost her once there and it was so stress-inducing. I'm like, i know. It's busy there. like Disneyland vibes. Okay, what are you doing for yourself for fall vibes and like activities? I don't know. I need to do something.
00:45:56
Speaker
I feel like... We just did the girls night. That was so fun. That was so fun. Like an outdoor night dinner with like yeah fall vibe meals. And we did a cookbook club. Our friend hosted it for us, Nicolette. And we did a cookbook club and um everyone brought like fall meals. There was like pumpkin, brown butter cake. I cannot stop thinking about that bren brown butter cake. Whoever made it. That was so good. It was so good. It was the pasta. Did you get that? Literally everything that everyone made was amazing.
00:46:24
Speaker
The feta dips or ricotta dip. i don't know. All of it was amazing. It was so good. But I feel like we need to do more stuff like that. My birthday's coming up. Oh, what are you going to celebrate? I don't know. Honestly, get a washer and dryer. what day What's your actual birthday?
00:46:37
Speaker
October 25th. Oh my gosh, that's coming right up. Get a washer and dryer. Get a washer and dryer. That's what I want to do. We'll do something fun. Yeah, we'll do something fun. I just love like a cozy girls night. Like come in sweats.
00:46:48
Speaker
Let's just like- Hang out. Drink some cider. Yeah. Hang out. Do a craft. was going to say, we did a craft at my sister-in-law's. We made those little, can you see them right there? They're so cute, yes. The paper heads. Such a good idea.
00:47:00
Speaker
They're so cute. and like Maybe we should do that. Let's do a fall craft for my birthday. and It's like get into the season. Yes. Yes. And you can always do simple things. Like, it doesn't have to be crazy. No. Actually, always say that, and then you throw a girls' night, and you go so crazy. It's been a while since thrown a girl. How about I throw your birthday one? That would be fun for me. Only if you want to. That's a lot of stress for you, though.
00:47:18
Speaker
No, honestly, i will say I get into hosting vibes in the winter and fall. Yeah, and you're really good at it. I just have, like, less on my plate, I feel like. And so, um do you want craft I want to do, though?
00:47:29
Speaker
I think you actually did this. It's like the pictures, and you put a little ghost in it. I haven't done it yet. Oh, you haven't done that? now like where you can paint a little ghost on vintage pictures. Let's do that. Let's do that for my birthday. and Okay. Any other last minute fall or tips? Oh, wait. Actually, we got to read the submissions. about Oh, yeah. Just submissions. I'm like – because I'm coming up blank.
00:47:46
Speaker
Okay. It's my bedtime. Okay. They talked about fall crafts with their toddler. Girls' Night with Fall Crafts. Okay. We talked about that. Oh, Cross E Ranch and their donuts. So fun. Have you been? not No. Have you? I've been like five years ago and it was amazing.
00:47:59
Speaker
You feel like you're in like a movie. Yeah. Really? yeah it's such vibe. I take kids or is it crazy? No, you should take the kids. Where is that? I want to say it's like north. and Okay. um Don't quote me on I'm trying new soup recipe every week. That's a good one. That is such a good idea. Okay, we do a Harry Potter marathon every few years.
00:48:16
Speaker
Fall vibes. I do Harry Potter every November. You do? Yes. Do you do Gilmore Girls? No, but I know that people love it. Yeah, it is very fall vibes. Okay. just don't have a TV. Okay. Okay, this is on getting their shits together. um Donate all my summer clothes I didn't wear this year. That's such a good idea.
00:48:34
Speaker
Especially, do you put away your summer clothes and your winter clothes? I started doing that a little bit ago. Like, I'll put all my sweaters away. And then in the fall, it's so fun to bring them out. There's a few sweaters that, like, I can wear during the summer. But for the most part, like, my chunky sweaters, I'll put away in a bin and then bring them back out. I just brought back out. And was like, it feels like you're getting all new sweaters. That's so fun. I have, like, a section in my closet that's all of my coats and sweaters. Just put them away in a Maybe I should. Where I them in a the summer.
00:49:00
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, I just put them in a bin and like put them in the bottom of my closet. So I know that they're still there if I like really want to go find a sweater. Okay. But it's nice in the summer. That's another thing I've done this pregnancy. I don't know if i talked about it on the podcast is I put away every single item of clothing that does not fit me and is not going to fit me for the rest of pregnancy and I only hung up and folded the things that are going to fit me.
00:49:19
Speaker
That is Why have I never done that? Well, then it's like you actually can see what you have because otherwise you just end up like We're trying things over and over. Or you try things on and you're like, this doesn't fit.
00:49:30
Speaker
This doesn't This doesn't fit. and so I love went and tried everything on and I was like, okay, like this will fit me. i can go into this. To the end of pregnancy. This is GAP from last year. It's the best. I love it.
00:49:41
Speaker
um And then the last person said, I'm just trying to survive this And honestly, so are we. That's me right this fall. is I feel like I'm just trying to survive this move and just like being pregnant is a crazy time. And there's times as a mom that you can romanticize seasons and there's times where you really just have to get through them.
00:49:58
Speaker
Yeah. Sometimes we have to do the pregnancy. And we're here for both of them. Yeah, we're here for both them. But like if you can – Give yourself a bath. like Take care of yourself too. Give yourself a bath. Draw yourself a bath.
00:50:09
Speaker
And ah hopefully you're with us and you can get your shit together a little bit so that you can enjoy it as much as you can. and anyways, you guys are the best. Thanks for listening. Bye.
