Introduction to 'God Talks'

00:00:04
Speaker
Welcome to God Talks with Chibs, where faith meets purpose and young voices rise to lead with truth. Let's build, grow and go deeper in the word, in life and in destiny.

Why God?

00:00:27
Speaker
Hi, hello, everyone. Today we are talking about a very Needed. a lot of the topics we're going talking about anyways are needed.
00:00:41
Speaker
But we are answering the question. The really big question. Why God? Why God?
00:00:51
Speaker
We talk about it in this podcast a lot. I'm sure you've noticed by now. But why God? You may be wondering. And we're going to get into that for you.
00:01:03
Speaker
We're going to discuss. Why does he matter? What's his relevance in your life, in anyone's life? What's the point?

Reasons for God's Relevance

00:01:15
Speaker
two And I've broken it down into three major points for you today.
00:01:26
Speaker
Okay? The first one is you were designed to need God and to worship Every human being was designed to need God and to worship.
00:01:39
Speaker
We'll get into that in a moment. I just want to list out the three points for you so you know what we're going today. The second point today is there's nothing in this world that will ever satisfy you more than God, more than the Lord.
00:01:54
Speaker
Nothing in this world. I guarantee you there is nothing in this world that will satisfy you more. The third one is the creator defines creation.
00:02:07
Speaker
So your purpose is defined in him. These are my three strong reasons for you as to why God. Okay, so let's get into it. The first one is you were designed to need God and to worship.
00:02:22
Speaker
I'm going to look at two scriptures, open two scriptures for you guys. We always get into God's word here. So if you're expecting that, you know, the you know, no, we're getting to God's word. But I will show you some interesting things here in a moment as well. So you kind of see where we're at.
00:02:40
Speaker
Let's look at John chapter one. I'm just going to read through, follow along with me. I'm reading the New Living Translation for

Creation and the Word

00:02:50
Speaker
your reference. Okay.
00:02:53
Speaker
In the beginning was the word already existed. The word was with God and the word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him and nothing was created except through him.
00:03:08
Speaker
The word gave life to everything that was created.
00:03:15
Speaker
God gave life. The word gave life to everything that was created. That shows you have a design.
00:03:24
Speaker
And the Lord, the word gave life to everything. I think that's really key. I do think that's really key. The word gave life to everything that was created.
00:03:37
Speaker
That automatically means whatever was created is dependent on the word.
00:03:47
Speaker
says the word gave life to everything that created and his life brought light to everyone. His life brought light to everyone. So every human being innately has this light in them.
00:04:01
Speaker
It's like a compass, a guide, a direction because they were built with this life in them that guides them. So I like to say there is no human being that deep within them doesn't know that they need something higher or above themselves.
00:04:23
Speaker
It's just some will deny it more than others. But at the end of the day, put yourself in a situation Where you can't do what you want to do on your own efforts, you will have to try and reach out to something above you.
00:04:41
Speaker
Because innately, there is that belief. There's that ability to believe in what you haven't even seen. A power beyond you. That's in every human being.
00:04:52
Speaker
So you already know, in sense.

Creation's Testimony

00:04:57
Speaker
Okay, so that's what I wanted to point out as the first one Next one is Romans chapter 1. Verse 18. I'll start from verse 18.
00:05:14
Speaker
But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth, the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.
00:05:26
Speaker
you see that? They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature.
00:05:42
Speaker
So they have no excuse for not knowing God. What's this trying to say? Creation speaks of God. Everything around us around us speaks of an intelligent creator.
00:05:54
Speaker
You look at the world and it's so intelligently designed. If you study chemistry, those of you who've taken a chemistry class, a basic gen chem, you understand the complexity of our world.
00:06:10
Speaker
The complexity of our world, it's it's amazing. If you've been in an OCHEM class, you understand the complexity of our world, even chirality. I'm bringing out some big terms for you.
00:06:23
Speaker
But even you look at chirality at it and it's, and and Just how it functions based on if particles can mirror

History of Worship Practices

00:06:34
Speaker
each other or not changes how they operate or interact with each other.
00:06:40
Speaker
Something as complex and intelligent as that. We as human beings, the best thing we could think of was that something, some random accident happened.
00:06:52
Speaker
No, there's no way. You don't look at the iPad pro and look at its complexity and say it was randomly created. No, you can easily tell that no, this has it an intelligent creator.
00:07:07
Speaker
Well, when you look at our world, you can look at his complexity and be able to tell that this has an intelligent creator. So God is saying that his creation, everything he's made speaks of his existence.
00:07:26
Speaker
It speaks of his existence. So we already know. To deny that is basically to deny everything you're living in, the air that you breathe.
00:07:38
Speaker
You sitting in the chair or whatever you're doing, listening to me right now, maybe you're washing the dishes. Do you realize that as you're doing that, do you know how many systems in your body are working together at the same time in unison?
00:07:55
Speaker
just to keep you functioning, your body alone? Now let's take a bigger step backwards, or I guess a broader step. Do you realize how many species are interacting at the same time just around your house?
00:08:14
Speaker
Do you realize the ecosystem you're in?
00:08:19
Speaker
Right now, everything is functioning so perfectly. The world you're in hasn't collapsed.
00:08:30
Speaker
There must be an intelligent creator.
00:08:35
Speaker
Okay, so the scripture says it here. We continue. Verse 21. Yes, they know God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks.
00:08:47
Speaker
And they began to think of foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious ever-living God, they worship idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
00:09:09
Speaker
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful thing their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie.
00:09:21
Speaker
So they worshiped and served the Are you seeing and we seen this?
00:09:33
Speaker
I mean, if you haven't pulled this up in your Bible yet, pull this up in your Bible.
00:09:41
Speaker
Human beings, man. Okay, so now I want to take you through a little history run. I want to show you that human beings have always worshipped something.
00:09:54
Speaker
It's changed over time and gotten more deceptive over time because the world has increased in deception and you'll be able to see, I want you to track it.
00:10:06
Speaker
Now you see deception is different from a straight lie, right? Because with a straight lie, um, I can tell you, oh, this is not a green sweater. It's a blue sweater.
00:10:20
Speaker
That's not true. It's a green sweater. But with deception, I can kind of mingle it, muddle it a little bit for you and say, oh, this isn't really swamp green. It depends on the light you're looking at too, but it's more of a brown if you look really, really closely and maybe your camera's faulty. You know, I can give you different things to confuse your mind a bit and deviate you a bit from the truth, but I'm not totally incorrect.
00:10:50
Speaker
It's based on your discretion now. Satan likes to use this a lot. It's his only really strategy because he doesn't have any power anymore. You see.
00:11:01
Speaker
And so over time, the world has been cloaked in more and more deception.
00:11:08
Speaker
That it's not like the things that are being used are totally wrong, but it has led people astray, led people away from the truth, God's truth.
00:11:20
Speaker
I want you to see this. All right. So we start in ancient times, you know, biblical era, early civilization. I'm talking about like old Testament. All right.
00:11:33
Speaker
Actually, even in new Testament too, here's what they worshiped. They worship false gods and idols, things like Baal, Asherah, Molech, Dagon, Ra, Zeus, the Greek gods, you name it.
00:11:49
Speaker
All right. They also worship nature and elements, the sun, the moon, the stars, rivers, animals. ah just Egyptians worshiped a lot of things. They worshiped a lot of different things, including cats and cows.
00:12:03
Speaker
Okay.
00:12:06
Speaker
They also worship kings and rulers like Pharaohs and emperors. Right. They were often viewed as divine beings.
00:12:16
Speaker
Now we enter the medieval era or also known as the dark ages.

Human Worship Through History

00:12:21
Speaker
or I guess that was the same time period, right? they There was a lot of mysticism going on, superstition, ah lots of witchcraft and occult practices, right?
00:12:32
Speaker
And this was even sometimes muddled into religious practices, right? They worshiped relics and saints and, you know, different things. Just that was more of a misdirected worship, especially if you look with with church history too, there was a lot going on back then, all right?
00:12:50
Speaker
religious institutions were put in certain places, you know, and this was a time where people weren't even allowed to have their own copies of the Bible and it was left to a select few church leaders to explain the Bible to people.
00:13:09
Speaker
Okay. And this obviously led to a lot of deception.
00:13:15
Speaker
In the Enlightenment era, They worshipped human reasoning and intellect. you know People were now beginning to discover these things. Science and rationalism, philosophers and scholars,
00:13:31
Speaker
Alright, there was, now just naming people, right? And this is not to say that this improvement of human society or advancement of human society was wrong either. No, because God also used these things. The Lord has also used these things.
00:13:46
Speaker
But it's to show that, um,
00:13:51
Speaker
it doesn't mean that people didn't turn this into ah into worship for themselves. I'm just showing you that these are different points in time where human beings turn to worship things beside the Lord and what they worshiped because humans are designed to worship. So if you're not worshiping God, you're worshiping something.
00:14:10
Speaker
You're worshiping something. Whether that thing is a good creation or bad creation is is irrelevant. The point is you're worshiping something always. And this is what happened throughout history.
00:14:22
Speaker
Okay. So, you know, scholars like Voltaire, Descartes, Darwin, all those guys. There's also progress and modernity.
00:14:36
Speaker
modern Modernity. Anyway, it became the new, you know, religion and everything. twentieth century. Right. right They worshiped ideologies.
00:14:48
Speaker
That's when, you know, ideology speaks starts becoming, ideology started becoming a big thing. There was communism, capitalism, nationalism, secularism, all of these ideas, people started becoming left wing versus right wing. that like These things were now becoming known and it was forming people's identity.
00:15:11
Speaker
There were celebrities and public figures, technology and production, self-help and psychology. In today's era, in the postmodern era, a big one, and I've heard this so many times.
00:15:28
Speaker
Anyway, self, people worship themselves, autonomy. You know, everyone has wants to have a feeling of autonomy, feelings, identity, personal truth.
00:15:42
Speaker
Desires and appetites like sex, food, fame, entertainment, image, technology and AI, phones, algorithms, smart everything. I'm not sure, maybe you've heard the term the internet of things.
00:15:59
Speaker
You know, turn a washing machine into a digital, put it online, you know, let it connect to wifi. Audiobooks, everything, your keys.
00:16:10
Speaker
your appliances at home, everything, it's internet of things. And that has a whole new level that it's taking as we move and advance in society.
00:16:21
Speaker
But that's another day's topic.
00:16:25
Speaker
You have influencers and gods of culture, musicians, celebrities, YouTubers.
00:16:33
Speaker
Then you have ideologies, relativism, humanism, radical individualism, all of these things. Over time, these are the things that human beings have worshiped or cling to.
00:16:49
Speaker
So this is to point out that maybe thought your idea of not really needing God was such an original thought. It's not really an original thought, buddy.
00:17:01
Speaker
I just want to point out that we are not the first human beings to live on planet earth. and we won't be the last.
00:17:14
Speaker
But it's to show you that humans, regardless of the time period, have always worshiped something. As society advances, it seems like what we are worshiping becomes more and more logical and practical.
00:17:37
Speaker
So we've moved away from the sticks and stones, worshiping the sticks and stones to now the machines and science and stuff that we've created and put together.
00:17:54
Speaker
We've yet to realize that all of these things that we've created and put together and understood all points to one intelligent designer.
00:18:07
Speaker
It still hasn't been figured out by a lot of people, you see. But if you're asking why God, the first thing to point out is, as a human being, you worship something already anyway.
00:18:24
Speaker
So the question is, what is it? And what does it point to?
00:18:31
Speaker
On to the second point. um sure I'm sure making you think now, which is good, because that's what I wanted to do. it There is nothing that will ever satisfy you more than him.
00:18:43
Speaker
Let's look at a story.
00:18:46
Speaker
It's not really a story, actually. It's a factual account because it did happen.

Story of Jesus and the Samaritan Woman

00:18:51
Speaker
Jesus is talking to a woman. yeah Now, some of you may know the story. Some of you may not.
00:18:59
Speaker
If you haven't or if you don't know the story, great. Now you get to know the story. John chapter four, Jesus is talking to a Samaritan woman. All right. I'm not going to go into the whole details as to who Samaritans were and all that stuff. That's going to take some time. So we're just going to go into it. OK, but I want you to really listen to what Jesus explains here to this woman.
00:19:27
Speaker
OK. John 4, verse 1. jesus knew the pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than john though jesus himself didn't baptize them his disciples did so he left judea and returned to galilee he had to go through samaria on the way eventually he came to a samaritan village of psycher near the field near the field that gave to near the field that jacob gave to his son joseph Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.
00:20:05
Speaker
Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "'Please give me a drink.' He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. The woman was surprised, for Jews refused to have anything to do with Samaritans.
00:20:20
Speaker
She said to Jesus, "'You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?' Jesus replied, if you only knew the gift of god the gift god has for jesus replied if you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking you would ask me and i would give you living water
00:20:43
Speaker
But sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket, she said, and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And besides, do you think you're greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well?
00:20:55
Speaker
How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoy? Jesus replied, Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
00:21:06
Speaker
But those who drink the water I gave will never be thirsty again. it becomes a fresh bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. Oh, praise the Lord.
00:21:17
Speaker
Please, sir, the woman said, give me this water, then I'll never be thirsty again. I won't have to come here to get water. Go and get your husband, Jesus told her. I don't have a husband, the woman replied. Jesus said, you're right, you don't have a husband, for you have had five husbands and you aren't even married to the man you're living with now.
00:21:37
Speaker
You certainly spoke the truth. Sir, the woman said, you must be a prophet. So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshipped?
00:21:53
Speaker
Jesus replied, Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews.
00:22:10
Speaker
But the time is coming indeed where it's here now. but the time is coming, indeed it's here now, when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.
00:22:22
Speaker
The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way, for God is spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Hallelujah. The woman said, I know the Messiah is coming, the one who is called Christ.
00:22:37
Speaker
When he comes, he will express he will explain everything to us. Then Jesus told her, I am the Messiah. Now that is a loaded, loaded encounter.
00:22:50
Speaker
But the main thing I want you to notice is when Jesus says to the woman, anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again.
00:23:03
Speaker
You see, It doesn't matter what you try to experience in this world. Listen, you can travel to Mount Kilimanjaro. I'm not saying don't travel. You can go anywhere you want.
00:23:14
Speaker
You can experience all the things you want to do. Go to all the parties you want to go to, have all the sex you want to have, drink all you want to drink, all those things. And I'm not saying, I'm not trying to judge, right? Because some people have been through serious things that have put, that have not essentially almost forced them into a lifestyle that is not beneficial for them in any way. Some serious things, you see.
00:23:43
Speaker
But that still doesn't change the fact that those things will never give you the solution you're looking for. It's not going to give you the solution you're looking for.
00:23:58
Speaker
Once you come to know Jesus and you're filled with his spirit,
00:24:05
Speaker
There is a life in you that satisfies beyond anything else that you may desire.
00:24:16
Speaker
Because you are a spirit before this. The real you is a human spirit. You're human, you're spirit. You're a spirit of being. So the only thing that can truly satisfy, and that is why human beings have been are just designed to worship, they're worshiping, they're trying to work, they're always craving something, going for something.
00:24:42
Speaker
For some people, they, you know, they they get into the grind of, you know, wealth and and business and they get into that mindset and it's good. i I'm an entrepreneur, i like thinking like that.
00:24:53
Speaker
But then they just become addicted to it and then that's all their drive is. They get there and they just keep going for more. Then it becomes power. Then it becomes authority. They just just keep on going. They keep on going. They keep on going. They just keep on going.
00:25:09
Speaker
And it still doesn't satisfy. My brother, my sister, what you need is Jesus. He's your satisfaction.
00:25:21
Speaker
Why God? Because he is the one that satisfies. The thing you are looking for, the thing you are trying to find in life, the thing you keep chasing and going after is you're not looking for, oh, when I'm 25, you know, I'll finally have a job. I'll be comfortable. I'll be fine. Just let me get to 25. Let me be comfortable.
00:25:39
Speaker
You're saying all these things. Oh, no, no. What I'm actually looking for is when I'm 30 and I'm relaxed and I've i've saved up and ah I've got my house and I'm You'll get there and you'll still want more. You'll want to keep going for more.
00:25:51
Speaker
What you are looking for, my brother, my sister, is Jesus.
00:25:56
Speaker
That's what satisfies.
00:25:59
Speaker
Okay, next point.
00:26:03
Speaker
The creator defines creation. Your purpose is defined in him.

God Defines Human Purpose

00:26:10
Speaker
Last scripture for today. 1 Peter 2 and verse 9. and verse nine
00:26:22
Speaker
You see, why God? Because he created you. So he gets to tell you what your purpose is.
00:26:36
Speaker
Think about it. If you created something, you get to define what that thing should be used for. What's its purpose?
00:26:46
Speaker
So if it asks you, oh, why? You tell him, hey, I created you, buddy. This is the purpose.
00:26:53
Speaker
So what does the Lord say about us? 1 Peter 2, 9. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. you are a You are royal priests.
00:27:06
Speaker
Have you heard about that before? I mean, I've heard of royalty and I've seen priests, but you are royal priests, a holy nation. my God.
00:27:20
Speaker
Oh boy, you are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession.
00:27:30
Speaker
As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
00:27:41
Speaker
I mean, this is beautiful. This is just beautiful. Why God? Because when you step into him, you become a royal priest.
00:27:54
Speaker
If you thought you were broke, you're no longer broke.
00:28:00
Speaker
If you thought you weren't elegant,
00:28:05
Speaker
take out that feeling because you are.
00:28:09
Speaker
you thought you weren't majestic, take out that feeling. You are. You're a royal priest. A holy nation. That means you carry others with you.
00:28:22
Speaker
You're God's very own possession. You show others the goodness of God. Let the world see the goodness of God through you.
00:28:36
Speaker
I mean, there's nothing else that satisfies more than that. People are trying to give advice and, you know, be a good human being. That's all cool and fine.
00:28:51
Speaker
But what people need to see is the goodness of God. And that is going to be showcased through you. That's why he tells us to preach the gospel, to share his message, because people will not be able to see him physically as it were, but they can see him through you.
00:29:17
Speaker
Yeah, you. You're like me, bro. I'm not really that kind of you. Oh, no, no, no, no. no You see, when you step into him,
00:29:28
Speaker
the old you dies. The new you is Christ in you. So you don't have to do much of the work. It's Christ in you that's at work. So let people see the Christ in you.
00:29:43
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's no other better life to live than the life of Christ because his life is the most glorious life.
00:29:55
Speaker
Why? Brothers and sisters, he's the word of God made flesh.
00:30:04
Speaker
No more struggle. No more struggle. And he didn't ask you to come to him perfect. No. Otherwise, Jesus wouldn't have needed to die.
00:30:17
Speaker
He didn't ask you to come to him with anything, to be honest.
00:30:25
Speaker
So if you're asking the question, why God?
00:30:30
Speaker
These are your answers. And maybe you're still wondering, listen, even if the Lord were to show himself to you to today, right now and say, I am God, put a big poster on the wall and says, I am God.
00:30:47
Speaker
That does not mean you will take the step now to actually believe in him because it's by faith. It's by faith. He already showed up 2000 years ago and they killed him.
00:31:00
Speaker
He was there. he so He told them he was God. They didn't listen. They killed him. So, and it's not like he didn't do things that were supernatural. He performed miracles in front of them on the daily.
00:31:14
Speaker
On the daily. So, you don't need proof. You don't need the proof. What you need now is to take that step of faith.

Invitation to Faith and Prayer

00:31:26
Speaker
So if you'd like today to move into that relationship with the Lord, you've heard this and you're like, you know what? I think it's time I actually get to know the intelligent designer of this great world that he created. It's great because he created it, not for any other reason.
00:31:56
Speaker
If you'd like to know him, want to get to know him.
