Inherited Stories — And the Ones We Refuse to Carry

We inherit far more than genetics. We inherit silence. We inherit shame. We inherit the patterns no one ever talked about — and they show up in our bodies, our relationships, our choices, and the way we see ourselves. In this raw and revelatory episode, Michele shares the story behind her own lineage: • A grandmother who vanished • A mother who grew up in secrets • A family full of erased names, adoptions, and double identities • Violence and instability carried down through generations • Entire branches of relatives discovered only through DNA tests • And the moment Michele decided: “This ends with me.” This episode isn’t just a story — it’s an initiation. A reminder that you can honor your ancestry and disrupt the patterns that harmed you. A reminder that you’re not broken — you’re carrying the emotional DNA of women who had to survive. And a reminder that you get to choose what continues forward… and what stops with you. If you’re ready to explore the lineage you’ve inherited — and reclaim the woman you were always meant to be — this conversation will shift something inside you. Topics Covered: ✓ What we inherit emotionally, somatically, and energetically ✓ The body as the archive of family secrets ✓ How unhealed generational trauma shapes identity ✓ The difference between honoring ancestors and repeating their patterns ✓ Why cycle-breakers feel “different” in their families ✓ How to begin rewriting the story you inherited If this episode stirred something in you — a memory, a truth, a longing, a grief — you’re not alone. Join me inside The Authenticity Revolution, my 1:1 coaching program where we unravel the conditioning that never belonged to you and build the life your lineage never had the chance to experience.   Your ancestors survived. Michele Martin: Hello and welcome back to the Authenticity Revolution. You know, people love to pretend that the past stays in the past.

Michele Martin: But every time I open another message from someone who shares my DNA, every time a new photo of a woman I never met shows up in my inbox,

Michele Martin: every time another missing piece slides into place, I hear the truth loud and clear. We inherit more than eye color.

Michele Martin: We inherit patterns. We inherit silence. We inherit the pain that no one wanted to name. And whether we want to or not,

Michele Martin: We carry the stories that no one ever told us.

Michele Martin: My lineage? It's a damn novel of reinvention. Women who disappeared. Men with two names. Children handed over in secret.

Michele Martin: Performers in feathers and lace living double lives on vaudeville circuit. Entire branches of family that no one ever acknowledged. Grandmothers who said, we came over with the Mayflower.

Michele Martin: Meanwhile, our DNA is over here screaming Russia, Poland, Ireland, immigrant grit. And somewhere in the middle of all of that is me.

Michele Martin: trying to make sense of people who lived whole lives before I ever arrived on this earth and whose choices literally shaped the air I grew up breathing.

Michele Martin: Because here's the thing that no one tells you. You don't need to know your family story for it to shape you.

Michele Martin: Trauma travels. Silence echoes. Secrets get inherited like heirlooms.

Michele Martin: So I grew up in chaos, violence, instability, adults who were children inside, a mother doing her best while drowning in her own history, a grandmother who lived with us and then vanished, leaving a hole the size of everything I needed.

Michele Martin: And I didn't know until decades later that my grandmother had had a daughter before my mother, a daughter that she gave up.

Michele Martin: A daughter that we found through DNA and a stranger's message. Layers upon layers of truth collapsing at my feet. And this is what I mean when I say, you can bury a story but it will rise in the body of a child who doesn't know why she always feels unsafe.

Michele Martin: And I carried that for years until the day that I realized that I get to decide what continues. I get to decide what ends with me.

Michele Martin: And that's the moment that everything changed. I stopped repeating. I started remembering. I started choosing. I started breaking cycles that were older than my birth certificate.

Michele Martin: And that's why I do the work that I do. Because my ancestors didn't have the tools. They didn't have the language. They didn't have the safety.

Michele Martin: They didn't even have the spaciousness to ask, what do I want? Who am I underneath all of this conditioning?

Michele Martin: How do I stop living someone else's story? But you do. We do. Right now. And this isn't about shaming the people who came before you.

Michele Martin: This is about understanding that their survival strategies became your starting point. And it's your job your soul's job to turn that survival into sovereignty.

Michele Martin: To go from, this is just how I to, no, this is who I choose to be. And if you're listening to this and thinking, Michelle, I feel this.

Michele Martin: Something in my lineage feels heavy. Something in me feels like it's trying to break free. then listen closely. You don't rise alone.

Michele Martin: You rise for every woman who couldn't. You rise for every girl who deserved better. You rise for every ancestor who never got the chance to rewrite the script.

Michele Martin: And that's exactly why I created the Authenticity Revolution. It's not another fluffy self-help program. It's not another just think positive kind of thing.

Michele Martin: No, it's where we break the inherited patterns that have been running your life without your consent. It's where we find the voice that your grandmother never got to use.

Michele Martin: It's where we unhook from the conditioning that has kept generations small. And it's where you stop living the story that you inherited and start living the one that you were born to write.

Michele Martin: This is your moment. Your lineage has been waiting for someone like you. Someone one that's brave enough to say, this ends with me.

Michele Martin: And if that lands for you, if you feel that pull in your chest, if you know that you're standing at the edge of your own revolution, then come join me.

Michele Martin: Your ancestors survived, but you're here to do more than just survive. You're here to become the woman that they never had the chance to be.

Michele Martin: And remember, you're not broken, you're waking up.
